Rodeo
pairing: simon 'ghost' riley x f!reader
summary: a little ‘fun time’ on the porch with your cowboy
warnings: 18+ this is sexually explicit, do not read this or interact with my blog if you're a minor. do not copy or use ai on my shit, i'll find out. consists of kissing, exhibition, fingering, sex (m&f), name calling, slight breeding kink, cumming inside, cursing. I am not responsible for your media consumption.
a/n: yes I know long time no see. I imagined Ghost as a cowboy so yeah. I was busy with my exams. Excessive amount of free time now so get ready yall. Also cowgirl position referenced. So enjoy.
Tumblr media
You had been married to Ghost for about 2 years now. Ghost, is working on the farm while you sit on the porch watching. You’re looking through a magazine and drinking a glass of lemonade. You were wearing a sundress to match the vibe.
He walks over to you then crouches down and kisses your cheek. He’s dripping sweat and covered in dirt yet he’s still gorgeous. “What are you reading, hon’?”, he says to teasingly.
You smile softly, “just the usuals my love.” He rolls his eyes jokingly before holding onto the magazine.
“Babe!” You squeal but continue giggling. “No one should come between me and my girl”, he says softly as he puts the magazine aside. He pulls your chin to bring you closer before kissing you softly.
You could taste the sweet and tanginess of the lemonade, he was drinking not even a few minutes ago. He brakes the kiss smiling as he keeps touching your slight swollen lips.
“My love?” You whisper timidly. “Hmm?” He asks softly. He leans down and nuzzles his face in the crook of your neck, kissing your pulse point.
“I feel so needy for you..”, you whisper embarrassed by what you are saying.
“Is that true?”, he asks, smirking down as he looks at you. “How about I check?” He teases you.
You blush without even realising as he slowly picks you up before he himself sits down on the chair.
He places you on his lap, facing him and you immediately feel something poking your thigh, making you blush.
He laughs softly seeing your expression. “Let me check my love..”, he whisper teasingly in your ear before kissing your neck few times, proceeding to leave few hickeys on it.
When he is fully satisfied, you feel is thumb running up and down against your already damp panties making you whimper softly. "so wet for me love…", he softly pushed aside your panties so he could have access to your needy cunt.
Hearing your softly whimpers, he pushes his thumb in your tight soaking pussy making you arch your back.
“hush love, you are so sensitive and needy already, I just put my thumb and you already soaking wet..” He teases softly in your ear.
He starts rubbing your clit as you feel two of fingers teasing your entrance. His fingers slowly slide deep in you, curving right at your gspot. He kissed your neck and then gently nibbled your earlobe.
His other hand pulls and grabs your hips tightly, ensuring he continues torturing your little tight pussy. You knew that how tightly he held you hips, ut would surely bruise.
He continued to kiss your neck gently, nibbling softly with his lips, and then your chin. A soft moan left your lips, and he smirked.
You feel his thick long fingers so deep in you as his thumb rubs vigorously on your clit. You are holding onto him so tightly. “Ghost..” you moan in his ear which only makes him do his torture more.
The entire situation was a turn on for you. You guys were after all sitting on the front porch, if anyone visited you right now, anyone could see what the both of you were doing. But Ghost didn’t seem to care.
He lifted up your top to start sucking on your tits, leaving hickeys. You could feel yourself closing to cumming. But just as you were about to cum, Ghost stops making you whine so loudly.
“is someone desperate?”, Ghost teases you with a smirk on his face. He puts the wet fingers in your mouth making you suck on them.
“please please..” you beg. “please what my love?” He says softly. But you are unable to respond, just responding with you needy whines and moans.
“love how many times do i need to teach you? You will only cum on my cock.” He says, softly tapping your cheek.
He pulls out his precum dripping hard cock out, which only makes you more cock desperate.
He slowly shoves his thick cock deep in your tight pussy. Even after so many years, his girth was too much for you. You could feel him going in until his tip touched your womb entrance and he was balls deep.
He places both of his hands on your hips before commanding you, “ride this dick now”.
You start moving your hips so desperate. Each time you could feel his tip hitting again and again on your womb while rubbing against your gspot.
He moaned softly and whimpered in his ear. As soon as you started to slow down, he started aggressively slamming into your tight pussy ensuring he went fully in each time.
“fuck babe..” he whispered in your ear before kissing you so deeply and passionately. He kept pulling you down in his cock until he was all in while he kept muttering curse words cause how tight and wet your pussy was for him.
"so fucking tight for me.." He groaned into your ears as his thrusts seemed to get more aggressive and faster.
You were going dumb cause how good it felt. His cock was hitting the right spots each time. He spanked your ass couple of time before he started playing with your clit too now.
You were a mess. Your mind was clouded with thoughts about him only.
Before you knew it, you both had reached your high, you felt his slams into your hips become harder, you knew he was about to cum and so were you.
"gonna let me cum in your wet cunt love? Get all full and pregnant? Yeah love?" you nodded your head unable to form words.
"cum for me love, cum." You immediately felt yourself cum as your eyes rolled back in pleasure.
You could felt the hot thick spurts of his cum fill your womb. He kept thrusting in you softly as you both rode out your high.
You placed your head on his chest, exhausted. He softly kissed your head few times as he muttered praises in your ear, making you smile.
You suddenly felt him lift you up with his dick still inside you, making you confused. You had expected him to pull out.
He looked at your confused face before softly muttering in your ear, “gosh my love you are naive, why don’t we try in our house now?”
He carried you inside and all you could do was smile and just get excited for more.

The biochemical properties of raspberry leaf tea and its effects on the female reproductive system🌸🌿
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Abstract
Raspberry leaf tea, derived from the leaves of Rubus idaeus, has been traditionally used to support female reproductive health. This article delves into the biochemical properties of raspberry leaves, focusing on their potential mechanisms of action within the female reproductive system. We explore the active compounds, their pharmacodynamics, optimal timing for consumption during the menstrual cycle, recommended dosages, and duration of use.
Introduction
Raspberry leaf tea is widely regarded in herbal medicine for its benefits on the female reproductive system. The leaves are rich in bioactive compounds such as flavonoids, tannins, and alkaloids, which are believed to positively influence uterine function, hormone regulation, and menstrual health.
Tumblr media
Biochemical composition of raspberry leaves
The leaves of Rubus idaeus contain a variety of active compounds:
Flavonoids: including quercetin and kaempferol, which have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and estrogenic properties.
Tannins: primarily ellagitannins, contributing to the astringent and tonifying effects on the uterus.
Alkaloids: fragrine, known for enhancing uterine muscle tone.
Vitamins and minerals: Rich in vitamins A, C, E, and B-complex, along with minerals like calcium and magnesium that are crucial for reproductive health.
Mechanisms of action
Uterine tonification
Fragrine, an alkaloid found in raspberry leaves, enhances uterine muscle tone by modulating calcium channels in the myometrium. This action promotes mild contractions, which may prepare the uterus for labor and potentially reduce postpartum hemorrhage by improving uterine strength.
Hormonal regulation
The flavonoids quercetin and kaempferol exhibit estrogenic activity by interacting with estrogen receptors. These compounds may modulate the menstrual cycle and alleviate symptoms of premenstrual syndrome (PMS) by balancing estrogen levels. Additionally, their antioxidant effects help reduce oxidative stress, a contributor to reproductive disorders.
Menstrual cycle modulation
Tannins in raspberry leaves provide astringent effects that can regulate heavy menstrual bleeding by promoting vascular constriction and reducing capillary permeability. The anti-inflammatory properties of flavonoids also help alleviate dysmenorrhea by reducing prostaglandin synthesis, which is responsible for menstrual pain.
Antioxidant protection
Raspberry leaves are rich in antioxidants, including vitamins C and E, which protect reproductive tissues from oxidative damage, potentially mitigating conditions like endometriosis and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
Optimal timing and dosage
Phase of the menstrual cycle
Raspberry leaf tea is most beneficial when consumed during the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle (from ovulation to the start of menstruation). During this phase, the uterine lining is preparing for potential pregnancy, and the tonifying effects of raspberry leaves can support uterine strength and reduce PMS symptoms.
Additionally, raspberry leaf tea is commonly recommended during the third trimester of pregnancy to help prepare the uterus for labor.
Recommended dosage
The typical dosage is 1-2 cups of raspberry leaf tea per day. Each cup is made by steeping 1-2 teaspoons of dried raspberry leaves in 250 ml (about 8 ounces) of boiling water for 10-15 minutes.
Duration of use
For menstrual health: begin drinking raspberry leaf tea from the day of ovulation and continue until the start of menstruation. This typically lasts for about 10-14 days per cycle.
For pregnancy: start drinking 1 cup daily from the 32nd week of pregnancy, gradually increasing to 2-3 cups daily as the due date approaches. Continue until childbirth.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Potential clinical applications
Pregnancy support
Raspberry leaf tea is recommended during the later stages of pregnancy to strengthen uterine muscles, potentially leading to more efficient contractions and shorter labor.
Menstrual regulation
For women experiencing irregular or heavy menstrual cycles, raspberry leaf tea can help regulate the cycle, reduce menstrual flow, and alleviate PMS symptoms.
Postpartum recovery
The tea can support postpartum recovery by promoting uterine involution and reducing the risk of hemorrhage. Its nutrient content also aids in replenishing vitamins and minerals lost during childbirth.

the taste of scotch and cigars - chapter one
Rating: M
Pairing: Captain John Price x Fem!Reader
Warnings: fake dating trope, propositioning a stranger in a bar, drinking/mentions of being tipsy (minor), intense makeout in public, hints of exhibition kink, hints of voice kink, absolutely fucking douchebag of an ex, mentions of cheating, I think that's it for this chapter? Most of these will be expanded the further into the story we get, and more warnings will come hehe.
Word Count: 3.7k
A/N: this is one of the au ideas I've ranted to @catsnkooks about (there are many) and I wanted to schedule the first chapter drop during my vacay because it's been sitting in my wip folder and I wanna get opinions to see if people like this idea/wanna see more. (I mean, I'm gonna post it regardless but I still wanna see if people are into the idea). anyways, enjoy this fun spin on a fake dating trope :)
The burn of cheap vodka as it slid down your throat did little to soothe the ache in your chest. Coming here was a mistake. You should’ve let sleeping dogs lie, let your past stay where it belongs. Instead, you’re submerged in old memories and familiar hurts, the waters of time washing over your head and threatening to drown you in melancholy and diffidence.
The noise of the packed pub pressed in from all sides, buffeting you and keeping you off balance, loud enough that you were barely able to hear yourself think. You’d managed to avoid interactions thus far, but the likelyhood of that dwindled with every second you lingered, waiting for…
Well.
God only knows what you were waiting for.
Draining the last dregs of your drink, the thunk of your empty glass on the wooden bar as you sat it down made you frown and debate waving over the bartender for another refill. You thought for a long moment, before you decided otherwise. If you were going to be interacting with others tonight, you’d prefer to have at least some of your wits about you, and the vodka you’d consumed was enough to take the edge of your sorrow off. Any more though, and you couldn’t be held responsible for what might happen.
You turned around in your seat, scanning the crowd. In the back corner of the pub, you saw them for the first time that night since you’d walked in. The group seemed to be concentrated in the back, thankfully. You’d done a perfunctory greeting with the hosts of this little reunion, and then beelined for the bar and had been sat there since. Honestly, you’re not entirely sure why you even came.
Unfortunately, right as you were looking over at the group, you made eye contact with Christian, the one person you’d been hoping to avoid. He’d been looking in your direction, and when he saw you, he smirked and stood up, beginning to try and make his way through the crowd.
“Fuck,” you muttered as you spun around again on your stool, regretting not having ordered another drink. “God fucking dammit.”
Squeezing your eyes shut, you began to wonder if it was possible for you to make a quick escape in the crowd, when your panic was interrupted by a deep and deceptively smooth British-accented voice to your right.
“Everythin’ alright, love?”
Turning your head, you made eye contact with the older man sitting next to you at the bar, and immediately your mouth went dry. How had you not noticed him yet?
He was absolutely gorgeous, with clear, intelligent blue eyes and thick dark brown hair that you wanted to run your fingers through. His cheeks and upper lip were covered in that same dark brown hair, shaved into mutton chops with stubble on his lower lip and chin. He was dressed in a light blue henley that clung to his torso, a hint of a ball chain disappering into the vee of the neckline, the sleeves rolled up to his elbows and showing off his forearms. One hand was wrapped around a glass of scotch, and dangling from the fingers of his other hand was a lit Maduro cigar. He had on dark, well worn blue jeans that were moulded to his thighs, and black, slightly scuffed up combat boots.
He looked like the kind of man you’d spent many a shameful night fantasizing about back in high school, fingers ducking below the waistband of your sleep shorts as you clasped a hand over your mouth lest you wake your parents sleeping down the hall.
Those bright blue eyes were focused on yours, and you felt your cheeks heat under his surprisingly intense yet soft gaze. Something deep inside of you, fueled by the vodka, whispered that this was the kind of man you could trust, the kind of man who maybe, possibly would be willing to help a perfect stranger out of nothing but the kindness of his heart.
Maybe it was the alcohol, and you were drunker than you thought. Maybe it was the way he was looking at you, this gorgeous, dangerous man who managed to pierce you with such soft, kind eyes. Whatever it was, you lost control over your brain-to-mouth filter, and words began to spill forth.
“My ex is here, he just saw me and is coming this way, and it’s been years since I last saw him, and… god, I don’t have the strength to deal with him tonight, he never fucking takes no for an answer, would you be willing– I mean if it’s not too much trouble, and I could pay you back, but could I ask you–”
You managed to reboot your brain, but not quite fast enough to stop the spew of words from escaping you, and physically biting your own tongue was the only way to prevent you from making an even bigger fool of yourself. Immediately you averted your eyes, tearing yourself away from his piercing gaze as you shrunk in your seat, dread and shame roiling in the pit of your stomach and mixing with the alcohol to make you feel sick.
Jesus H. Christ, what the fuck were you thinking? He just asked if you were alright, he didn’t ask to have your entire life story dumped on him at the drop of a hat. He had to be at least ten years older than you, if not more, you were likely barely more than a silly little girl in his eyes. Shit, he’s probably got a stunning wife and gorgeous kids at home, and here you are, practically propositioning the poor man. Your mama always said you were a no-good, simple-minded child, and here you are, not even ten years outta her house and proving her right once again.
So lost in your self ruminations, you don’t notice the pensive look on the handsome stranger’s face, until suddenly there’s an arm wrapped securely around your waist and you’re being tugged off your barstool and onto a thickly muscled thigh, leaning against against the warm length of a heavily muscled torso. You somehow manage to not leap out of your skin in surprise, even when you feel the brush of his lips against the outer shell of your ear, his voice a low growl, gravel grinding against pavement.
“I’m more’n willing to help a pretty lil’ girl like you, love. No debt necessary. ‘Sides, a man who doesn’ understand the word no? Princess, that ain’t a man at all.”
Dreaming. You’ve gotta be stuck in some kind of alcohol intoxication induced fever dream, because there’s no fucking way that this is your life right now. Shit like this doesn’t happen outside of cheesy romcoms and trashy dime store novels. Let alone at random pubs in fucking Liverpool.
You’re not given the time to delve more into the ramifications of dreams induced by too much imbibed alcohol because your ears are abruptly assaulted by a reedy, nasally voice that you wished you could forget, but was burned into so many of your adolescent memories.
“Sweetcheeks! Goodness, it’s been awhile! You know, I wasn’t sure I’d see you here, we were all pretty surprised you showed up.”
The stanger-who’s lap you were perched-on turned at the interruption, his hand sliding from your hip across your belly, palm hot through the thin fabric of your shirt. He hooked his finger in your belt loop, fingers pressing reassuringly into the meat of your hip as his forearm felt like a bar of iron against your abdomen. The positioning was oddly possessive, like it meant more than him making sure you didn’t tip off his thigh and onto the dingy floor of the pub. His glass of scotch was abandoned on the bar, the arm not holding you streched out on the wood, cigar dangling from his fingers. You turned your head to look at the last person in the world you wanted to see, although you were distracted slightly from your ire by the slow drag of lips along the length of your jaw, the bristles on your stranger’s beard tickling the sensitive skin. It was an act that was surprisingly soothing as it was intimate.
Schooling your features, you looked at the face of the man who’d held your entire heart in his hands and shattered it on the ground without a second thought. Half a decade hadn’t dulled the pain, although you did a remarkable job at covering it up.
“Christian. Wish I could say it’s a pleasure.”
He pouted, an altogether unattractive look, although years ago it had been one to tug at your heartstrings. “Awe, don’t tell me you haven’t missed me, at least a little bit?”
You fixed him with a glare, even as fury began to burn low in your belly. “Why exactly would I be missing you, Christian?”
He rolled his eyes, as though the answer was exceedingly obvious, and he thought you dumb for even having to ask. “Awe, babes, you’re not still hung up about that little incident, are you? Even your momma thinks you’re overreacting, sweetcheeks.”
You cocked an eyebrow, even as you subconsciously sank further into your stranger’s embrace, his hold on you soothing and helping to keep you grounded. The admission that he still talked to your momma stung more than it should have, but then, she’d been heartbroken when you divorced who, in her eyes, was the most perfect embodiement of a son-in-law to ever grace God’s green earth. Figures she’d refuse to cut contact with him, even though you had.
“Hung up? Little incident? I came home to find you fucking Paisleigh, my best friend, in our fucking bed. And then I find out it wasn’t just the once, but practically every single week of our relationship, with about three dozen different girls over the years. I would say I have every right to still be pissed at you, Christian.”
“Well, that’s hardly my fault, is it? Men have needs, babes. I was just doing what I needed to, since you certainly weren’t fullfilling ‘em. You hardly needed to move halfway across the world cause you got a lil’ upset about it.”
It took every shred of self control you had to refrain from launching yourself off of your stranger’s lap–and dear sweet god, you’re just now realizing you don’t actually know his fucking name–and strangling the idiot in front of you. Honestly though, it was probably less about your self control and more about the way his arm tightened around you, his fingers hooking tighter around your belt loop. He brought his other hand up to take a slow drag off his cigar, the richly sweet smoke curling around your body as he exhaled, his chest pressed comfortingly against your back. He let his hand drop, resting it on top of your thigh, fingers carefully keeping the cigar away from the fabric of your pants.
You felt the movement of his head as he gave Christian a look, glancing up and down before scoffing darkly, the sound sending shivers down your spine. He only held you tighter, even as he opened his mouth, and the rich smoke of his voice filled your ears, deep and dripping honey, sending sparks straight to the fire in your gut.
“You’re no man. You’re barely more ‘n a immature little boy, a waste o’ space n’ air. If you’re not willin’ to stay faithful, then ya shouldn’t be in a relationship. If you weren’t satisfied, it certainly wasn’t somethin’ she was doin’ wrong.” He punctuated his words with a kiss to your temple, and dammit if it didn’t make you wanna melt into a puddle on the floor.
Christian puffed up, looking extremely offended, albeit ridiculous considering he was skinnier than a stick. “Do you have any idea who I am, old man?”
You’re trying very hard not to panic, because you didn’t have time to tell your stranger anything before this conversation, but you shouldn’t have worried, because he simply replied with a shrug of his shoulders, and a short, clipped, “Nah, should I?”
Dammit, you thought, trying to hold back a laugh. You didn’t know he was funny too.
If anything, that only pissed Christian off more. “Sweetcheeks, you didn’t tell your little friend here about your husband?”
“Ex-husband,” you hissed, eyes narrowing and body tensing at the way Christian spoke, all amusement draining from you at the sound of him acting so damn dismissive, it made you wanna claw his eyes out.
“Shh, is alrigh’, love,” your stranger whispered in your ear, and to your surprise, the tension bled back out of your limbs, the low timbre of his growl soothing the fury boiling inside you. Unfortunately, Christian rudely interrupted.
“And just who are you supposed to be?”
Your stranger chuckled, the vibrations rumbling pleasantly against your back. “Nah, I’m nobody special. Jus’ the one who took advantage of your colossal fuck up and married the sweet thing you let get away, ain’t tha’ right, love?”
It took every ounce of control you had to stop the surprise from showing on your face at his declaration. This was so far beyond anything you could’ve ever hoped for, you didn’t quite know how to handle it. There’d been no hesitation on his part, no awkward pauses or stuttering. Just a steady declaration that he was apparently your (fake, fake you reminded your brain) husband.
Christian’s cheeks were turning a ruddy color, nearly incandescent with rage. You should’ve realized that this little charade was gonna push him too far, especially when he bared his teeth and snarled.
“I pity you, sweetcheeks, you’re such an obvious charity case I should’ve known. No way is another man willing to settle down with you, especially considering the fact that you’re used, broken goods. Did’ja tell him that, before you trapped him, babes?” He growled, spittle flying. “Quieter than a doormouse in bed, she doesn’t even know how to properly pleasure a man, else I wouldn’ta needed to find someone else, isn’t that right?”
Ok, that was it. You were going to deck Christian here and now. You were done letting him have all the power, letting him walk all over you like he had for the entirety of your relationship. Just as you placed your hands on the forearm around your waist to push it off you so you could fight your fucking ex, a firm hand on your jaw distracted you, turning your face to the side and tilting it up, then slightly chapped lips were covering yours.
Oh.
Your eyes fluttered shut as calloused fingers smoothed over your jaw, cupping your face as your gorgeous, dangerous-looking stranger slowly pried your lips open and plunged his tongue into your mouth, stroking the length of it alongside your own tongue. You followed his lead, opening up beautifully beneath him, letting him kiss you deeper as he plundered your mouth, growing more heated, more passionate with every brush of his lips against yours. His beard scratched gently at the sensitive skin around your mouth, but beard-burn was quite literally the last thing on your mind. The entire world faded away, until it was just you and your stranger, and the deep, possessive way he kissed you.
He claimed you with his mouth, there was no better way to describe it. He drew back slightly, only so he could bite at your lower lip, teeth pulling at the darkened skin and making you let out a surprised moan before he dove back in, open mouthed and messy. He sucked on your tongue, making you whimper softly, which only spurned him on even more. His fingers tightned on your jaw, keeping you steady against his onslaught, stealing kiss after kiss. He stole the very breath from your lungs, every time you pulled back to gasp for breath he simply chased you, greedily depriving you of precious oxygen.
He tasted like scotch and cigars, the smooth burn and sharp bite of sweet smoke mixing to create something so uniquely him that you honestly couldn’t imagine him tasting like anything else. You wondered if he tasted the vodka on your tongue, or the coconut of the lip balm on your lips. Whatever your taste, he couldn’t seem to get enough.
A loud cough broke the bubble you’d found yourself enveloped in as he kissed you, but even still, he didn’t let you jerk away, pressing one, two, three kisses in quick succession against your swollen and tender lips, glossy and slick with spit.
Your eyes slowly opened, finding him already staring at you, his pupils blown wide, inky black surrounded by a pale, thin ring of blue. His fingers stroked the skin of your cheek, almost reverent as his gaze flickered between your own wide eyes and your ravaged mouth.
Incoherrent sputtering drew your attention away from the man who’d just kissed you–a fucking stranger–like you were the only two people to exisit in the world and not just at a pub in the middle of Liverpool, and you slowly slid your eyes from his to look at Christian.
You had to fight the urge not to laugh. Christian somehow managed to look equal parts dumbfounded and embarrassed as hell. Considering the way you’d just been kissed felt like it had to break some kind of public indecency law, you weren’t too surprised at the mix of emotions on his face, although they were quickly giving way to anger once again.
He didn’t get to interject, however, as your stranger spoke, his voice barely more than a growl. “If you’d been any good in bed, then maybe you’d have some kinda idea about all the pretty sounds my wife can make, but somethin’ tells me you weren’ ever enough to earn those, and like hell am I ‘bout to let you learn how she sounds when she makes ‘em now.”
Abruptly, he stood, easily hoisting you off his lap to stand on the ground, although his arm stayed secure around you and not letting you take even one step away from him.
“Hol’ this for me, love?”
He handed you his cigar, before digging in his back pocket to pull out a wad of cash, throwing it on the bar and making a quick gesture at the bartender to indicate that he was closing your tabs.
He turned back towards your ex, making eye contact even as he wrapped his fingers around your wrist and brought your hand up to his mouth so he could take a drag from his cigar still gripped between your fingers, breathing in deeply before exhaling, chuckling at the disgusted look on Christian’s face.
“My wife ‘n I are leavin now, cause I’ve been deployed too damn long and I don’ feel like wastin’ another second with bloody pricks who mattered so little in her life that she doesn’ even mention you.”
With that, and a gentle nudge, your stranger began to steer you out of the pub, sliding his arm from where it was still wrapped around you, instead slipping his hand into the back pocket on your jeans, cupping your ass and giving your ex a little show, and causing your heartbeat to race. The cool air hitting your face as you stepped out onto the streets of Liverpool felt like being reborn, as you felt the tension that had been gathering all of the last few weekes in preparation for today just… fade away.
The two of you walked a bit away from the door to the pub before your stranger slid his hand out from your back pocket, leaving you immediately missing the security and warmth he’d provided, even with just that little touch. You turned to look at him, silently offering his cigar back, which he took, but just let it dangle from his fingers. His expression was sheepish, and he rubbed at the back of his neck with his free hand. It was endearing, and you found yourself having to violently squash the part of you that said to just go for it and kiss him again, just to see if he’d still react the same way without an audience.
“I do apologize, ma’am,” he offered, and you blinked, thrown a bit. Why on earth was he apologizing to you? Shouldn’t you be the one apologizing, for even asking a total stranger a favor like that in the first place?
“I might’a taken things a bit far back there, but no one should be talkin’ to ya like that, love. It don’ matter who they were or what they used’ta mean to ya.”
To your horror, you felt your eyes begin to burn with unshed tears. You were so used to being the one blamed for the failure of your relationship, being the one told that you must’ve done something wrong to force a man like Christian to seek someone outside of your marriage, that to have someone tell you that it wasn’t ok for you to be treated that way was like a balm on an old wound you didn’t realize had ripped back open.
You had no idea how to respond to what he’d said, and at a complete loss for words, you blurted out the first thing to come to your mind.
“I don’t even know your name?”
His laugh was deep and warm, and you desperately wanted to take it inside you and hold it’s comfort there for the rest of your life. He smiled at you, eyes twinkling, and held his free hand out.
“Captain John Price, British SAS, at your service, love.”
You took a deep breath even as you placed your hand in his, trying not to show how the sound of his title falling from his lips sent a heady rush of arousal through you. You’d thought he might’ve been military, and the confirmation was doing unspeakable things to you.
“I-, uh, sir-” you started, only to be cut off as he brought your fingers up to his lips, brushing them across the backs of your knuckles and making your knees go weak with the look he leveled you with.
“Love, not to be crass, but I’ve had my tongue down your throat and my hand on your arse. I think you can call me John.”

A guide to finding the "Quieter" Pride Events
[US-centric post]
Despite what tumblr would have you believe, there are absolutely Queer Book Clubs, lectures, art events that take place during Pride and all year long!
They won't be on your feed organically until you follow them; they won't pay to send you ads. So you have to be intentional to find out!
I can't make a guide for your individual city. These are leads + starting point. Their instagram will boost other events, there might be a list-serve.
Queer Bookstore - Follow a Queer Owned or Queer Friendly Bookstore on instagram or check their events page. This list has some from 27 states.
A University's: Sexual Health Department, Sexuality Studies/ Queer Studies Department, Queer Resource Center - Many of their lectures/events are open to the public, you don't need to be a student. They want to contribute to the community too.
Sex Shop - Find a local queer friendly sex store. Do not think they only sell things! Mine has a library of sex-ed books and events like self-dense classes, non-monogamy talks, support groups etc.
Queer Library - Likely only in bigger metros, but they host events and lectures.
Pride at Museums - Many museums do unique events/exhibits just for pride.
Pride Organization - Many cities' pride teams need jobs all year round so they do smaller Community and Education events year round. E.G. one is a queer book fair at a lesbian-owned brewery.
Queer friendly [Activity] /Business - For example an Improv club I like does a monthly queer Improv Jam.
Facebook - Queer exchange group, people post things on there or you can ask
I understand you may be from a small town or less progressive city, and these may not be available. I just saw a post with thousands of interactions from someone in Washington DC saying they don't have any 'non party' events, so this is my response.
I think the tumblr myth that there's no queer friendly events for people who don't drink party is way too pervasive. People like you are planning and organizing in your community.
Below the read more are specific examples for Minneapolis/Saint Paul. I'm going to feature some events/orgs to show you what kind of events are out there and to guide for what you can search for in your area.

Ok, I don't know exactly where this is going but I can't stop thinking about the fact we got the Crowley/Aziraphale meet-cute in the opening of season 2 and the way the layers of storytelling utilised the same literary conventions our fave demon and angel were inspired by when trying and get Nina and Maggie together.
We get to see Aziraphale and Crowley's understanding of romance and love, or more importantly, their understanding of what they think it should look like, through their misguided set up attempts, and this primarily reveals to us, a) they're both hopeless romantics and b) they have no idea about the subtle and real indicators of love or a burgeoning relationship between two people. But that's ok, they're celestials whose only reference points are books, films and each other (the most unreliable sources of all, exhibit a: Aziraphale telling Crowley Maggie has a 'pash' on Nina).
You know who does know about those subtle indictors of love and blossoming romance? The very human people watching the show. And so throughout the season we witness a series of tropes and moments that indicate Aziraphale and Crowley are indeed the ones whose love story is unfolding, and as viewers we are drawn into certain conventions that we are conditioned to assume will play out and resolve in a particular way. The nebulae creating meet-cute, the ongoing forbidden relationship that continues to build, the friends to lovers dynamic through the centuries and of course, the comfortable and cosy present-day lives, with 'our car' and 'our bookshop' and drinks at pubs and a relatively open existence together.
With each insight into the past, we catch the cues that indicate the developing affection, trust and care between the two; the way Aziraphale looks at Crowley when he realises the crows are goats, the way Aziraphale and Crowley cover for each other with Job's children, the bullet catch ('nough said) and the drinking of wine afterwards. When humans engage with literature or film, we understand the subtext of such moments, something angels and demons seem to miss as they focus on the overt gestures of romance and love in storytelling as confirmation of its existence.
In the present day, its the perching on the same chair, Crowley knowing the angel's different tones, the way they pop into the room at the back of the shop for private conversations, Aziraphale grabbing Crowley's arm, Crowley answering the bookshop phone with, 'Fell's bookshop, we probably don't have what you're looking for and we wouldn't sell it to you anyway'. While these are only a few of the prompts we are given, our brains piece together this storytelling along with the body language and expressions throughout, understand that all these aspects combined flag a romantic relationship developing and so we are swept up in the love story.
The way the flashbacks are interwoven with the present day is disorientating, because we are simultaneously seeing the sweetness and complexity of the developing relationship over time while in the present, Aziraphale and Crowley begin to fall out of step. Yes it starts with Gabriel's arrival and Crowley vs. Aziraphale's reactions and responses (there are many excellent posts that discuss this in great detail), but any misalignment isn't happening all at once, it in itself is like a dance; they move apart but then move together again, as an audience we think oh no, tension! oh good, that's resolved! However the neat trick here is that with each move apart as the individual characters undertake their own journey within the story, the distance grows a little greater. Meanwhile the interactions between the two characters do not necessarily shift dramatically and the set up through the storytelling still suggests that any threats are ones they will face together and it will be ok in the end.
Even the ball, I wanted to be all *swoon* and swept up. Everything that was happening on my screen told my brain that it should be feeling excited and full of all the feelings of seeing these characters finally starting to make a move, like I should be feeling giddy like Aziraphale seems to be because, just like the attendees at the ball and the very literature that inspired it, there's the music and the soft lighting and the smitten little angel face. But it's all those things and also none of those things, because as has been so brilliantly pointed out in this insight, this is all juxtaposed with the demon invasion happening outside and Crowley's futile attempts to convey the seriousness of the situation to Aziraphale. Crowley is doing the movements but he's not part of their dance in that moment, the dance they've been doing for centuries, and as a viewer it feels off kilter.
But we've seen their story unfold, we know that the love and the relationship is all there, and once again we see Aziraphale and Crowley fend off Heaven and Hell, both taking individual risks to do so and protect each other. Heck, we see that an angel and demon can put their differences aside and disapparate off into the universe together, our brains are poised, but also wary at this point because it can't be this easy, can it?
Crowley has to have it explained to him why their plan didn't work, Maggie and Nina sit him down to do so, and in that moment we are also being told that you can't just be pushed together, the timing has to be right (cue small alarm ringing in the back of my head). Despite this, and we know Metatron is never good news, we, as viewers, are held precariously in the hand of the storyteller as Crowley's emotional declaration clashes with Aziraphale's news in a way that side steps the expectations that have been building throughout the season. The final moment of Aziraphale leaving hits SO hard because the expectations many of the storytelling conventions set in motion are subverted at the very last minute. And it's absolutely brilliant.
Just to be clear, I know there is far more complexity in the show, the characters and the storytelling, and tbh I don't even know if any of this rambling makes sense. But the fact is, my tiny mind is just awestruck at the layers of meta in the way our no.1 angel and demon are calling on literary conventions to try to make two people fall in love, while we're watching these conventions in action showing us two people falling in love. The result?
The most incredible tension, yes between the characters and their sudden divergence (which was actually not so sudden after all, we were just a bit distracted), but also tension in the storytelling as the duality of the love story and the individual character stories collide head first in that final moment and we are left trying to untangle our expectations from the reality of what has unfolded.
(that last paragraph should probably have been the whole post honestly)

wordcount: a bit over 3000
—————————————————————————---------------------
You have been in the museum for about 5 hours now. it's a place you like to be at, since it's shaded from the sun and usually quite deserted. You could go about the place comfortably without feeling watched or potentially being found out when you would drink out of your pre-packed blood packs. You even bought an opaque straw to make sure no-one saw the dark red thick liquid. unfortunately you forgot the straw and more importantly the packs. You’ve been waiting for the sun to set which you usually wouldn't need to-do because London was a generally clouded area, but this evening was especially sunny and warm despite it being october. You even forgot your umbrella at home, which you use to shield yourself from the sun.
there's a reason for your abrupt and unplanned leaving. you’ve been coming to this particular museum and touring the same exhibit for one reason only. The cute tour-guide, Steven Grant. He was intelligent and confident during his tour but every time you caught his gaze he would blush and avert his eyes fast, like a shy animal. you loved it. Always wearing those funky oversized shirts and ties under that beige jacket, on the warmer days he’d fold up the sleeves of his shirt to expose those delicious veins on his forearms. Every Time you saw those you could feel your canines prodding into your bottom lip. It was even worse now that you had forgotten your blood-pack. You were burning for a drop of blood, craving it. The only thing holding you back was your usual distaste of drinking directly from humans. Sometimes they would be all sweaty and smell dirty, you had to get so close it would ruin your appetite and sometimes the smell of them would get stuck on you for hours after you fed on them, which you just couldn’t tolerate anymore. So a few centuries ago you decided to switch entirely to bloodpacks, which had felt like a really good decision.
With hunger came an impeccable sense of smell. You knew Steven smelled good but you didn’t know he smelled like this. Like warm vanilla and zesty lemon, homey and comfortable. You’d press your fangs into his neck and never let go if that meant you could have that smell on you forever. The fact that he looked so good would be a definite bonus. Surely he’d be okay with living in your home, it was a historical mansion. It sed to be a vacation house for some rich nobles, but you renovated and refurbished it a while ago and kept it updated to current fashion, it was a bit of a hobby to you. He would have a huge Collection of books to read which you know he'd love, since you’ve caught him on more than one occasion, reading a different book every lunch. Just like he was right now, sitting by the giftshop, eating his pickle, cheese sandwich and reading up on egyptology. He looked really focused and you wouldn’t want to disturb, but before you can turn and move far away from him, your feet are leading you toward him.
Your instincts probably taking control as you sit down next to him, overwhelmed by the calming aura around him. He looks up from the book and locks eyes with you and you hear his heartbeat quickening. The blood rushing through his veins and supplying him with adrenaline as he looks at you flushed and wide-eyed.
‘h-hello miss. Can I help you with somethin?’ his pretty british accent isn't lost on you and the way he can't tear his eyes away from you has you riding a high you haven’t felt in a few decades. ‘I’ve been coming to your tours for a while and I really enjoy them. You’re really good at what you do’ the last part, you say in a slightly lower and breathier voice-range than usual. Your hunger is really affecting you in ways you had completely forgotten. Before you knew you were spilling compliance and persuasion spells onto Steven. You never liked to use them, they only ever worked on people that already had a certain affinity with you anyway. Meaning they’d either like you or needed to find you attractive for these to work. If you wanted to force someone you’d have to use the mind numbing witch magic you learned a few years after your transformation. That one you’d only used once, in a very dire situation on a very very old woman. It wasn't good blood but it was enough to survive at the time.
You’re brought back to Steven when you feel him leaning on your shoulder. ‘I know you’ve been watching me- I like it. You’re a very beautiful and captivating woman.’ Steven said lazily and fully giving into your spells, letting all his thoughts tumble out of his mouth. ‘I especially love your skirts- no matter the length they always make me flustered and nervous. Make me feel like theres this itch I can't scratch.’ he talks breathily and you hear his heartbeat pick up again and his blood most-likely rushing towards his growing arousal. You quickly take his tie in your hand and tug him with you. He follows you like a little puppy as you walk into a supply closet together. You lock the door with your magic and darken the window. Steven sees you do that and his eyes bulge a little out of his skull. ‘I-I gotta get back to w-work-’ Steven backs into the corner and you stalk toward him like a predator would towards his prey. ‘Oh darling, no need to worry- I only need to borrow something, yeah? It’ll only hurt a little, I promise.’ you say as you reach out to him and start to unbutton his shirt to reveal his neck and chest to you. You take off his Jacket and he blushes intensely. As your canines start protruding out of your mouth Steven surges forward and messily kisses you, you’re caught off guard but immediately tug him closer to you.
He grabs at the nape of your neck and desperately kisses you, slashing his tongue into your mouth and licking your canines expertly. This only amplifies your hunger and you slam him into the wall behind him with unnatural strength. He whimpers and paws at your soft body pulling your hips closer to his. You part away from him to let him breathe, and start licking down to his throat nibbling his jawline and earlobe. Finally you get to his pulsepoint and inhale his scent urgently lapping against it. He moans and whimpers, writhing under your touch. ‘please- please’ he moans quietly, not entirely sure what he is begging for.
He savours the taste and craves more kissing you again, licking into your mouth and letting his flavour spread into his mouth. He takes off your bra as you unbuckle his pants. He throws the bra towards where your blouse and his shirt are and walks you backwards to a table covered with rags and cleaning supplies. He shoves everythign to the floor and lifts you onto it. You plop down on the table and make a show of arching your back for Steven. He growls and comes closer reaching under your particularly short skirt and cupps your pussy over your sheer tights. You mirror his action by reaching into his briefs and wrapping your hand around his already leaking cock.
He stares at you awestruck and you take his hand in yours tugging him forward so he falls onto you. He catches himself so he doesn't crush you completely. You hook your legs around his hips and feel his jeans against your ass. His dick rubbing over your clit destroys your patience ‘fuck me Steven’ he mewls at that and positions his cock over your eager hole and pushes in slowly. ‘you’re so perfect, so tight for me always’ You both moan and you grab a hold of his hair and expose the other side of his throat to you. You surge forward and break his skin with your sharp canines. He slams down hard, now completely sheathed inside your tight wet cunt. ‘oh I love this- love you honey oh my gods’ you unlatch from him and bite a new spot next to the other one. Marking him as yours once more. He slams into you, pounding your pussy. The only sounds in the room, filthy and wet squelching sounds from the repeated thrusting and your collective moaning and panting. Steven whimpers and moves one hand to your clit, rubbing at it expertly. ‘m’gonna cum love- pleaseplease can I cum?’ You lick the fresh blood off his throat. Humming at the taste of him, you feel as he shudders and starts rutting into you uncontrollably, he’s about to cum and so are you. You move to his ear and suck on his lobe, before releasing a command. ‘cum for me Steven.’ He mewls and moans at your command and wantonly thrusts into you even faster than before. You move towards his mouth and kiss him hungrily, to his delight you take his tongue into your mouth and suck on it eagerly.
His hips stutter and he explodes into your tight pussy catapulting you towards your own orgasm as he circles your clit. He shoots his load, painting your tight walls and collapses on top of you. you come down from your high and make soothing motions on Stevens back. Your head resting on his shoulder, you turn to your favourite spot and lick his wounds. You feel his dick bob inside your pussy and you giggle at your insatiable husband. ‘never can get enough can you?’ ‘never of you, love’ he says lovingly into your hair. He lifts himself up to make eye-contact ‘you should forget your blood-packs more often when you visit me at work’ he remarks while kissing your shoulder. ‘You’re lucky that my love for you is stronger than my lust for blood, sweetheart’ Steven kisses you lovingly ‘i love you too darling. By the way, how did you like my innocent act, it was good wasn't it?’ you snort as he wiggles his eyebrows up and down. You turn your face into a seductive smirk and lean into his ear putting on a sultry voice ‘mmhm, you did so good~’ his grip on you tightens and his softening cock hardening again at your voice. His breath hitches and you kiss him quickly smiling up at him innocently when you part, he groans at your successful teasing. You lay there for a little longer, before Steven remembers that he has another tour starting in a few minutes. You help eachother get clean and collect your torn tights off the floor as you notice that the panties had gone missing. Steven kisses you once more before exiting the supply-room and as he slides on the jacket you spot a deep red piece of fabric hanging out of his Inner pocket inside his jacket. You narrow your eyes at him jokingly and he winks at you before making his way towards the waiting visitors.

Sorry to send you a sansa ask lol I was just wondering if you could help me out. I'm trying to understand why people say sansa is a literal child right now but they also want her to be queen in the end. Are they assuming we will have a big time skip? I mean, if she should be excused for being dumb because she is a child then why do they want her to be queen, wouldn't that make her situation worse?
Welcome to Schrodinger's Sansa!! It's an asoiaf fandom phenomenon where the character of Sansa Stark is simultaneously many things at the same time.
No, they are not expecting time skips. They are arguing that Sansa is simultaneously both very smart and also she's a little child unable to understand when adults tell her things.
Exhibit A:
Linking to this essay because it's often send to me in discussions about Sansa being very smart.
But there’s no reason the readership should share those views. Sansa is a very clever individual who makes increasingly good use of several skills she started the series with, and develops greatly as an observer and an actor over the course of the story.
Same person then writing about Sansa pushing the Maester to drug SweetRobin with the dangerous SweetSleep despite the Maester warning her that it has long term consequences for SweetRobin's health:
I’ve said before that I don’t think Maester Colemon is doing nearly enough to actually explain the problem with sweetsleep to Sansa, so I’ll have none of that either, thank you. She’s thirteen with no grounding in any sort of natural science whatsoever;
More broadly, do we expect thirteen-year-olds to be able to take full responsibility for another’s medical care? Do we expect them to have a sophisticated understanding of, say, heavy metal poisoning, or prescription drug abuse? Even with modern resources? Sansa, who cannot head off to wikipedia and start researching for herself, is in a situation where she doesn’t know what she doesn’t know.
Sansa does not have wikipedia and therefore cannot double check on what a doctor is telling her about a drug is still one of the funniest things I have read on here about the character 🤣, right up there with Sansa being the 'embodiment of hope for the future' and 'flames coming off the side of the face' for a bnf when a blogger called out Sansa for bullying and mocking Arya's appearance.
Again, keep in mind that Maester Coleman is Westeros' version of a physician, a doctor who treats the sick. This doctor is telling Sansa all this in the text:
Give his lordship a cup of sweetmilk,” she told the maester. “That will stop him from shaking on the journey down.”
“He had a cup not three days past,” Colemon objected.
“And wanted another last night, which you refused him.”
“It was too soon. My lady, you do not understand. As I’ve told the Lord Protector, a pinch of sweetsleep will prevent the shaking, but it does not leave the flesh, and in time …”
I try, my lady, yet his fits grow ever more violent, and his blood is so thin I dare not leech him any more. Sweetsleep… you are certain he was not bleeding from the nose? I must speak to the Lord Protector. This feast… is that wise, I wonder, after the strain of the descent? Lord Robert mislikes strangers, you know that, and there will be drinking, noise… music. Music frightens him”
“This descent… my lady, it might be safest if I mixed his lordship some milk of the poppy.
And then when he gives her a final warning, she threatens him with Littlefinger because 'father and I have larger concerns' than SR's health and well being.
Very well.” They paused at the foot of the stairs. “But this must be the last. For half a year, or longer.”
“You had best take that up with the Lord Protector.” Maester Colemon cares only for the boy, though. Father and I have larger concerns” - Alayne, AFfC
This is what happens when fans self-insert and project onto a character and rely on fan made headcanons instead of actually interacting with the canonical text. They want her to be flawless, therefore she's a naive, innocent little baby. The same consideration is never afforded to the other children, even Arya who is two years younger to Sansa. And yet if one looks at their character endgames, Arya is always an assistant to Sansa, there to give her the information while clever Sansa puts together and uses the information to rule.
They want Ned Stark and Maester Coleman to explain stuff to Sansa like this for her to understand what they are telling her:
Tumblr media
And yet she is also the smartest, most cleverest character in the series - smarter than Jon, Dany, Arya, Bran, Tyrion, LF etc.
One of the reasons for why we get so many of these bnfs thinking that 'Sansa Smart' will be queen/lady of WF and at the same time arguing that Sansa is naive/innocent/a little child is because they see her as this flawless symbol of kindness and compassion.
I already wrote about this here that in fandoms like asoiaf, virtues like compassion and kindness is seen through the lens of white, western liberalism and traditional femininity. I wrote that long ago and now with the rise of tradwives, it's even more relevant to this discussion.
It has always baffled me that the character trait most often highlighted in fandom for classist and sexist Sansa is kindness and compassion simply because fandom thinks that being polite and having good manners = being kind and compassionate.
This results in posts like this where they argue that Sansa is actually being kind to Jon Snow by treating him like a bastard when the author through Jon Snow is actually being critical of the character!!
Remember this is the quote from the books!
He missed his true brothers: little Rickon, bright eyes shining as he begged for a sweet; Robb, his rival and best friend and constant companion; Bran, stubborn and curious, always wanting to follow and join in whatever Jon and Robb were doing. He missed the girls too, even Sansa, who never called him anything but “my half brother” since she was old enough to understand what bastard meant. And Arya … he missed her even more than Robb, skinny little thing that she was, all scraped knees and tangled hair and torn clothes, so fierce and willful. - Jon, AGoT
We also have a bnf chiming in and agreeing that yes, Sansa was indeed being considerate of Jon's feelings here!
Tumblr media
Even Jaime Lannister has had moments of kindness, where he tries to help Pia. And yet the only character in the series on whom these character traits are constantly pushed onto is Sansa Stark.
Sansa can actually be an interesting character if her fans let her be one. She's not a little child who does not understand what Ned and Maester Coleman tell her. She does understand and chooses to ignore it for her own selfish reasons - marrying Joffrey, whom she loved, and becoming queen or wanting LF's plans in the Vale to succeed. That's why she feels 'as wicked as Arya' when she goes and tattles all of Ned's plans to Cersei. That's why she thinks that while the Maester cared for the boy, she and LF had larger (more important) concerns.
Sansa is interesting in the way she deflects and refuses to acknowledge the unpleasant truths before her and lives in this alternate reality where everything is fine. She ignores Joff's sadism because it clashes with her idea of noble, beautiful princes. She ignores what is being done to poor SweetRobin because she thinks it is essential to her own survival that LF's plans succeed.
The reason her stans refuse to dig deeper into the character other than extremes of naive, innocent child and smartest character ever is because Sansa would then be as flawed as Jon, Arya, Dany, Bran etc. and they don't want that for her. They want her to be special in some way and this is it.
Arya killed the guard to survive - and she's portrayed as too damaged to ever live happily with her family. Jon and Dany face hard choices of doing the pragmatic or the morally right thing and are often called out on those choices, especially Dany. Pretty much most of our protagonists engage in morally grey actions.
And yet Sansa fans insist on her being this flawless character- it's everyone else' fault except hers. It's Ned's fault, it's Coleman's fault - they didn't explain properly. It's Arya's fault for trying to help Mycah, Arya should have tried to build a relationship with Sansa. Suddenly it's Sansa who is the outcast in Winterfell and Arya the favorite. Suddenly Sansa is Ned like and Arya 'bites people like Catelyn'.
This leads to her being interpreted as this idiot who cannot understand when a doctor is telling her a drug is dangerous. Which then clashes with their essays about 'Sansa Smart' and how she is going to be the best queen ever and change the system and bring about women's rights and all that.
It's the same with this 'pawn to player' stuff they write for the character. They expect her to be this smart player of the game and at the same time remain this good, idealistic, 'kind and compassionate' leader... How?! LF and Varys did not get to where they are by being good people. Sansa has to get her hands dirty, be ruthless and often times not be concerned about the well being of others - just as she does with poor SweetRobin. And yet her fans think she will become LF level of game player and do it while being kind.
Especially baffling because GRRM is deconstructing all these tropes of good knights and kind ladies. Brienne of Tarth is the embodiment of the perfect knight and yet she is not what one would expect a knight to be. This was part of Sansa's arc of growth - where she sees and experiences up close the brutality and lack of morals of these knights in KL.
The Northerners are loyal to Ned Stark, not because he was some beacon of kindness and compassion or because he had good manners and said please and thank you but because he ruled according to the laws of the land and enforced those laws in a just manner and was therefore an honorable Lord. He beheaded those who committed crimes, he put down rebellions, he took child hostages and he also kept the peace of the land.
And Ned Stark was as flawed as all the other characters. So this insistence that Sansa has to remain this caricature of 'kindness and compassion' - even if it's canonically untrue considering bigotry is not kind - is bizarre and one of the main reasons for why we have Schrodinger's Sansa. I can't wait to see all the excuses and justifications bnfs will come up with if we get TWoW and Sansa is doing all sorts of morally grey shite and going along with LF's plans.

That Which We Are, We Are | Nathan MacKinnon | Chapter 2
Tumblr media
gif credit @/divisionrival
A/N: We learn soooooo much about Sorcha in this chapter, and I honestly hope you all love her as much as I do!
Nate had showered that morning, and took his time picking out an outfit and getting dressed. He made sure to style his hair, spray on his good cologne, and put on one of his nicer watches. He even double-checked himself on his way out the door.
He didn’t know why he was nervous to have lunch with her when he was the one who had initiated it in the first place, but alas, he had butterflies in his stomach as he got into his car and plugged in his phone. Before leaving, he reviewed the email chain from last night – the one where she’d finally agreed to lunch. She was short and curt with her responses, much like she was when Shane was in the café. He hoped she was more forthcoming with her words over lunch, now that they were alone, without the influence of anyone else around.
He seemingly got to The Press Gang first, letting the hostess know his reservation and being seated at a table that was up against the giant old brick fireplace. Before Sorcha got there, the owner of the restaurant came out and spoke to him, shaking his hand with a firm handshake and asking for a photo. Nate politely obliged, thinking to himself that it was better this was done now rather than when Sorcha was there. He was sure – judging by what she’d written to him in her emails – that she would have shuddered at the whole thing. After the interaction, the waiter took his drink order and brought some water to the table.
Then Nate waited.
And waited.
And waited.
There was no way in hell he was getting stood up by Sorcha Saint-Coeur. No way in hell. Not because he was Nathan MacKinnon and who was she to stand him up, but because he knew she wasn’t capable of it. Sorcha was too nice a girl to stand someone up a restaurant.
At least, he thought so.
At almost the exact moment when his brain was going to turn on that thought, he saw Sorcha walk through the door, he curls bouncing and her dress swaying. She seemed breathless as she spoke to the hostess, but was soon walking behind her to where Nate was sitting. “Mr. MacKinnon, your guest has arrived,” the hostess smiled.
“Hi,” Sorcha said, her voice strong but, yes, completely breathless as she took her seat opposite of Nate.
“Hey,” he couldn’t help but smile. He knew he’d only seen her twice since moving to Colorado, but he’d never seen her so frazzled. For someone who kept strong and kept her cool in the face of seeing one of her high school bullies again, it was really, really cute.
“I’m so sorry I’m late. I—”
“Can I start you off with something to drink?” the hostess interrupted.
Sorcha looked as if it took a few seconds to process what the hostess was even asking. She saw the water on the table and looked at her. “Just lemons for the water.”
The hostess nodded before leaving their table, and Sorcha focused her attention back on Nate. “I am really sorry I’m late. A meeting I was in about the new exhibit was running late, and I basically had to namedrop you as the only way to get out of it,” she explained.
Nate’s eyes lit up. “You namedropped me, huh?” he asked cheekily.
She immediately saw the look in his eyes and smiled too, albeit lips closed and trying her best to hide it. “Don’t push it. I hate being late to things, however much I was coerced into going to them by someone Googling me and finding my work email.”
It was Nate’s turn to bite his cheek. “Regardless of how much you were coerced, thanks for coming,” he said. “I uh, I really appreciate you taking your time out of your busy day. I can only imagine how much work curating an exhibit is.”
“How do you know I’m the one curating it?”
“Uh, I – the first time we saw each other at the café and I couldn’t remember you, I heard you talking about it with that waitress…”
“Oh, so now not only are you stalking me at my work, you’re eavesdropping on my conversations?” she retorted.
“No! No no no no no! I—” he tried to cover, shaking his head and repeating the words in rapid succession, attempting to stutter out a believable ‘I swear I’m not a creep’ speech when he stopped, noticing the smirk that overtook her face after she saw what a stumbling mess he’d turned into. His cheeks flushed red. He sighed, biting his tongue. “You got me.”
“It was easier than I thought.”
Nate noticed a stark contrast between the Sorcha from elementary and high school and the Sorcha that was sitting across from him. She was, well, beaming with confidence. It was oozing out of her in every word she said, in every movement she made, in every outfit she wore and colour of lipstick she chose. Instead of looking away when anyone addressed her, she would stare intensely into your eyes. Instead of barely speaking, most of her words cut like a dagger. Instead of retreating into herself when addressed by someone, she bright, vivacious, and effervescent. Every part of him was drawn to every part of her, from the first curl atop her head to periwinkle-coloured pedicured toes.
The waiter approached the table enthusiastically, placing a small plate of slight lemon wedges on the table. “I see your guest is here,” he smiled. “Should I bring menus?”
Before Nate could even nod his head, Sorcha took control of the situation. “You guys have Sober Island oysters, right?”
“We do! Just got some in fresh this morning.”
“Just shuck twelve at a time and bring them over for us,” she smiled at the waiter.
The waiter nodded at them both once more before leaving. Nate focused his attention back on Sorcha. “Who said I liked oysters?”
Sorcha shot him a look. “You’re from the East Coast, Nate. You like oysters and lobsters. I don’t care how long you’ve lived in Colorado. It’s in your blood.”
He couldn’t help but smile again. Her humour – her humour was another big thing that showed her confidence and how much she’d changed. “You need to tell me what you’ve been up to for eight years. You seem like a completely different person from what I remember.”
“I am a completely different person from what you remember. Even from what I remember,” she said, pouring herself a glass of water. “Elementary school, high school…I’m not the same person now as I was back then.”
“But that’s a good thing. I mean we all change,” Nate said. “I think if you or I hadn’t changed from high school that would be a problem. The fact that we have changed is completely normal.”
Sorcha stayed silent for a moment. It was as if she was fighting with herself on what to say next. “Why’d you invite me to lunch, Nate?”
“I told you. I haven’t seen you in almost a decade and it would be nice to know what you’re getting up to. We grew up on the same street, Sorcha.”
“You keep saying that but you always fail to mention how we lived completely different lives,” she said. “Like, is there an ulterior motive here? Some James Bond style spy mission to report back to people like Noah or Shane?”
“God no. Why would I tell anything about you to them?”
“Because they wouldn’t fucking leave me alone in high school,” her tone was harsh. “I know a lot but I don’t understand them and their choices and why they decided to bully me for years.”
“I’m not…” Nate shook his head, looking her straight in the eyes. “Sorcha, I’d never do that to you. I know I was a dick, but I’d never gossip about you to people you hate.”
Sorcha looked him in the eye, too, trying to find even a hint of lie; trying to find any little thing that would make her second-guess her decision to come and have lunch with Nate. But there was nothing. She could find nothing in him that made her not believe him, or make her second-guess herself. So she took a deep breath, calmed down, and made sure to give him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe becoming a hockey player changed him. She had no clue how it would, but maybe it did. “Sorry.”
“It’s alright,” he said softly, accepting her apology. The waiter brought over their tray of oysters, setting it in the middle of the table, but neither of them grabbed at one yet. “You mentioned you got into the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design,” he mentioned, hoping she’d elaborate.
Sorcha hesitated once more before nodding, reaching out to grab an oyster. “It was really good for me, going to an art school. I was surrounded by people who had the same interests, same frame of mind, appreciated the same things…you know, all that stuff. But beyond that, nobody judged me. The friends I made there and that I still keep in touch with are some of the least judgemental people I’ve ever met. And it’s funny I say that, because art is all about interpretation but an important and vital part of it is also critique. So you would have thought they’d be judgemental, but they weren’t. They were so unlike everybody we went to high school with. And that’s why I loved it.”
“That’s—that’s good,” Nate said, sucking back an oyster. “I’m happy you found like-minded people.”
“I focused a lot on fine arts in my two years there – my painting, my sketching. I threw a couple of art shows with my friends and even sold some pieces at local markets through our little art collective—”
“You sold your art?”
“Yes.”
“Can I see it sometime?”
“Maybe,” she said. “Anyway, even though the fine art aspect of it was fun, I knew I wanted to pivot to art history. A professor at NSCAD put me in touch with their colleague who lectured at the University of Toronto. That professor took one look at my portfolio and put me up for a one-year exchange at the Florence Academy of Fine Arts in Italy.”
“Wait – you lived in Italy?”
Sorcha nodded. Judging by her smile, she was clearly still very proud of herself, and rightly so. It was a huge deal for a girl from Cole Harbour to go and live in Florence. “Yeah, I did. Studied art history there.”
“How was that?”
“The best year of my life,” she deadpanned, giggling slightly. “Italy’s a dream. Have you ever been?”
“Yeah, I’ve been with my buddies when we were over in Europe for a hockey tournament. Not to Florence, though. I hear it’s beautiful.”
“It’s stunning,” Sorcha confirmed. “It’s just the most beautiful city. And the people are so nice, and so…I don’t know, Italian. It was such a breath of fresh air, being there, living in a different country with a different culture. It made me realize there was a life outside of Nova Scotia that I could have, so I took full advantage of it.”
“Good for you.”
“Florence was such a dream. I could have stayed there for another year if I was allowed, but I wasn’t. I had to start the rest of the credits for art history, so I moved to Toronto and ended up living there for three years. I graduated in 2018, worked for a year, then moved back home, and I’ve been working at the art gallery ever since.”
It was an amazing story, one that Nate was genuinely happy to see Sorcha experience. She had gone through so much shit in school, it was nice to hear that she had found her people and succeeded outside the confines of high school. Not just succeeded – soared. She’d done better than anyone else he knew or heard about. Sure, his friends were successful, but nobody had sold art or lived in Italy. “That’s incredible,” Nate said. “You’ve been busy.”
“I like to think so,” Sorcha said before taking a sip of her water. “You’ve been busy too, I hear.”
Nate smiled. “I thought we weren’t supposed to talk about my being a hockey player.”
“I said if you boasted about being an NHL player I’d leave, but you haven’t done that,” she clarified. “Besides, I’m asking you. Despite hearing about you on the news every night, I’d like to hear about it directly from the source.”
So Nate told her. He told her all about living in Colorado; how at the beginning his parents and sister would visit a lot, and he lived with a teammate who Sid once played with who essentially watched over him and made sure he didn’t get into trouble – not that Nate would. He told her about the highs and lows of hockey, his gradual improvement, his almost constant training, and his hunger for more – how he was never satisfied. He told her about finding his own place, moving out on his own in a penthouse downtown and enjoying Denver as a city. The whole time, they slurped oysters and refilled each other’s water. Nate was surprised Sorcha was listening so intently. Sorcha was, too.
“Oh, and my dog, of course,” Nate added, not believing he forget to mention him.
“You mean your parents’ goldens? If I’m over my parents’ house I see them walking them sometimes.”
“No no, I got my own dog. He comes back and forth with me,” Nate explained. “Cox. He’s seven. He’s a German shepherd.”
Sorcha had been bringing an oyster towards her mouth but stopped when he told her. She laid down her arm and almost laughed. “You’re kidding.”
“No. Why?”
She tried to hide her smile. Like, really tried to hold her smile. “I have a German shepherd too.”
Nate’s mouth dropped open before he smiled. “No way.”
“Mhm,” she nodded her head. “Juno. She’s three.”
They spent the rest of lunch sharing pictures of their dogs and talking about all the weird and hilarious stuff they did. Another platter of oysters was ordered as Sorcha told Nate about how she had to hire a dog walker for the day while she was at work, even though she took Juno on walks at night, too. The waiter brought another pitcher of water as Nate told her how he had to put Cox in a special, high-end boarding kennel when he was on the road because Cox was a protection-trained shepherd who only knew German commands (Sorcha couldn’t stop laughing at the thought of Nate speaking German for his dog). Nate, for his part, couldn’t believe it. He couldn’t believe they both had German shepherds. What a coincidence.
When they were full from oysters, Nate handled the cheque. Sorcha thanked him, obviously offering to pay half, but Nate wasn’t having it. When they stood up and made their way out, Nate made the executive decision to walk her back to work, knowing it wasn’t that far. Even if it only took ninety seconds, Nate wanted to take the time. He wanted to spend the extra time with Sorcha.
But…why?
Why did he want to spend that extra time? Was an hour not enough? He was finding himself drawn to her much more than he was willing to admit to himself; much more than he thought.
When they approached the doors to the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, Sorcha turned towards him slowly, smiling. “Thanks for lunch, Nate,” she said softly. “I had a lot of fun, surprisingly.”
“Yeah, no problem. Any time,” he nodded. “Thanks for joining me.”
Sorcha hesitated again, biting her bottom lip before speaking again. “If I don’t hear from you again, I—it was nice to see you, and I hope you know you make Cole Harbour proud. Everyone’s rooting for you.”
Nate appreciated the sentiment, but he was taken aback by the first half of the sentence more than anything. “What makes you think I don’t want to see you again?” he asked.
Sorcha stared at him. It took everything within her not to scoff at him. “Come on, Nate.”
“What? Come on, Sorcha,” he mimicked her. “Can I see you again? Maybe on the weekend or something?”
Sorcha kept staring at him. She couldn’t believe what she was hearing. “I’ll think about it,” she said, stepping up.
“Sorcha.”
“Have a great rest of the day, Nate,” were her last words to him before escaping inside the art gallery.
Nate stood outside the door waiting, as if she would come back, as if she’d run back and say yes and they’d make plans for the weekend. But it was Sorcha, and of course she didn’t. So instead, Nate sighed, but his hands in his pockets, and walked back to where he parked his car.
***
“Sit,” Sorcha commanded, cupping her hand as a visual like her dog trainer taught her many moons ago. Juno sat obediently, staring up at her owner with her big eyes. “Wait,” Sorcha put two fingers up, watching Juno as she set her food bowl down in its holder. Sorcha waited five seconds, her fingers still up. Juno waited patiently for her released word. “Okay!” Sorcha said, watching Juno get up and walk over to her food. “What a good girl you are, Juno,” Sorcha cooed, scratching behind her ears as Juno began to eat her kibble, one by one – an oddity she mentioned to Nate earlier that day at lunch.
As Sorcha heard the crunch of the kibble, she rinsed the dishes in her sink and put them in the dishwasher. Tonight she’d have to choose what she wanted to watch while she cuddled with Juno on the couch – it would either be Normal People (for the billionth time), or perhaps Selling Sunset for some mindless entertainment. Just as she closed her dishwasher, the notification of a work email coming through filled her apartment.
If it was her boss Janet, she was going to go insane.
When she picked up her phone to see the notification, it was most definitely not Janet.

i had a really great time at lunch. thanks for coming out. let’s do it again except make it dinner. friday or saturday?

Sorcha couldn’t believe what she had just agreed to. Never in a million years did she think she’d run into Nathan MacKinnon and end up going to lunch and dinner with him. If someone told her teenage self this fact, she would have laughed in their face. Yet here she was.
Juno came around the corner, the sound of her paws on the hardwood floor the indicator. She walked over to Sorcha and stood by her side, looking up at her. Sorcha looked down. “What am I doing, Juno?” she asked.
Now more than ever, she wished Juno could talk.

Only if you want to, for both (or just Esme if you prefer)
Do they act differently with different people?
What talents do they have?
What virtues do they exhibit regularly?
Does your character have a habit, annoying or otherwise?
What did they learn from each parent, good or bad
Drinking habits, drug use, now and before?
What memories or responses do smells evoke?
How are they with money?
What is their house/home environment like?
What do they wear when they want to be comfortable?
How does your character feel about silence?
What does your character do when they are angry?
Esme:
Esme is just so vibrant and bubbly. A total social butterfly. She's very warm and welcoming to and with everyone. People are drawn to her personality and she's one hundred percent genuine if she likes you. With Tyler of course she's different; there's always a flirtatious undertone to their conversations and interactions. If she's on a job, she hangs onto that very extroverted and cheerful demeanour but she's also a completely different Esme as well. The one that lies and manipulates and cons to get the work done.
Baking is definitely one of her talents. Along with sewing, crocheting, knitting. She makes clothing and sleep bags for babies and doll clothes for Addie. And she's got an eye for interior decorating :)
I would say her three main virtues are compassion, loyalty, assertiveness
I would say how she rambles when she's telling a story. Especially if she's really invested in it and excited. She leaves her tea mugs everywhere around in the house, in the outbuildings, the office. Tyler is always finding them. And there's always tea left over. She can be a little neurotic at times. And she's a total blanket hog lol
She definitely learned how to be a better mother because her own was so terrible at it. I think from her dad she got his optimism and outgoing personaity.
She was a moderate to heavy drinker after her first marriage fell apart, but after moving to NYC and finding work and stability, she was able to quit and never touched alcohol again for quite a while. She'll have an occasional drink. Like a glass or two of wine if out to dinner or at an event. They don't keep booze in the house and only ever purchase it if they're having a party or certain friends are coming over. She does indulge in weed every now and then. To help with anxiety.
The smell of gasoline sometimes will take her back to the bridge in Dhaka. Which brings on a near flight or flight response. It's still a very difficult thing for her to accept and deal with at times.
These two are never going to run out of money, if she spends tons every day lol. That being said, she's very good with what she does spend. She isn't a real glitz and glamour, designer clothes/shoes kind of person. She loves shopping at Target lol
In the main series, they had purchased an old beach bungalow and over the years have completely gutted, renovated, and expanded it. It has seven bedrooms, four bathrooms, an enormous pantry off the kitchen, a finished basement. There's a handful of outbuildings: where weapons and other 'work' things are securely stored, an office, a gym. There's a a few expansive gardens, an area for the goats, chickens, and the two pigs, a pool, guest house, and a lot of things for the kids. A skateboarding area, rock climbing wall, and swings and play equipment, a trampoline. In Lost and Found, they live in a very modest and quaint three bedroom place. A nice little starter home.
She definitely wears yoga pants or sweats and an enormous t-shirt.
She doesn't like silence. It's foreign to her. She's so used to a lot of noise lol
Esme gives the silent treatment. She'll slam cupboards, doors, throw things in the sink lol. Just to send a message. He knows when to stay away.
Tyler:
Tyler is a completely different person outside of the home with people that aren't part of his immediate tribe. He's very much the strong, silent type. He doesn't do much other than nod and give a bit of a smile. He's just not a social person. That's Esme's thing. He always jokes that when they got places together, she does all the talking and he just has to stand there and look cute lol. To outsiders, he's very intimidating. A lot of people are scared of him. At home with her and the kids, he's a softer and gentler person. He has exceptional patience, he's very patient and understanding. With Esme, even the kids talk about how he sounds and looks different when he's with her and interacting with her. They talk about his eyes and his face change. There's always this love and adoration and devotion towards her. Does that make sense? lol
Tyler is an excellent artist. Drawing is his forte. He's also a great cook and can play the guitar.
His three main virtues would be patience, pererverance, loyalty
His most annoying habit is tracking sand through the house lol. He snores. Horribly.
I think from his mom, he learned patience, courage, tenacity. All he really learned from his father was not to ever be like him when it came to how to treat his wife and his children.
Tyler is and always will be an alcoholic and drug addict. Even though not active with either of those vices.
I would say that there's one smell that brings emotions and memories out, and that's Esme's shampoo. She's been using the same shampoo since they first met. It's the smell of love. And home. Coconut, milk, and honey.
Tyler is very good with money and very good at making money. but man, can he spoil the hell out of his wife and kids lol
Their home is his paradise. His sanctuary. His safe place :)
Board shorts. Or really baggy sweats lol
He's so used to noise that silence would be unnerving to him.
Oh, Tyler is a wild one when he's angry. He unfortunately lashed out. Verbally. although he's learning to deal with that and not do it. Because Esme is usually on the receiving end :(. He's become very good at just knowing when he needs to walk away and do something else. Go for a run, a surf, workout in the gym.

The benefits of yarrow tea in preventing menstrual cramps
A biochemical perspective
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Introduction
Yarrow (Achillea millefolium) has been used for centuries in traditional medicine for its wide range of therapeutic properties. One of the lesser-known benefits of yarrow is its effectiveness in preventing menstrual cramps (dysmenorrhea) when consumed as a tea starting 10 days before menstruation. The bioactive compounds in yarrow interact with various biochemical pathways to exert anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, and analgesic effects, which collectively contribute to its ability to reduce the severity of menstrual cramps.
Biochemical Composition of Yarrow
Yarrow is rich in several bioactive compounds, including flavonoids, alkaloids, sesquiterpene lactones, and essential oils such as chamazulene and cineole. These compounds are responsible for yarrow's pharmacological effects:
Flavonoids (apigenin, luteolin) possess anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, modulating the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines.
Alkaloids contribute to the plant's antispasmodic activity by interacting with smooth muscle receptors.
Sesquiterpene lactones (achilline) have anti-inflammatory properties by inhibiting nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB), a key regulator of inflammation.
Essential oils have various effects, including mild analgesic and anti-inflammatory actions.
Mechanisms of action in preventing menstrual cramps
Anti-inflammatory Effects
Menstrual cramps are often the result of excessive production of prostaglandins, particularly prostaglandin F2α (PGF2α), in the uterine lining. PGF2α is a potent vasoconstrictor and stimulates uterine contractions, leading to the pain associated with dysmenorrhea.
Yarrow's flavonoids inhibit the synthesis of pro-inflammatory prostaglandins by downregulating cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), an enzyme responsible for the conversion of arachidonic acid to prostaglandins. By reducing prostaglandin levels, yarrow helps to decrease the intensity of uterine contractions, thereby mitigating menstrual pain.
Antispasmodic Activity
The alkaloids and essential oils in yarrow exhibit antispasmodic effects by directly relaxing the smooth muscles of the uterus. This is achieved through the inhibition of calcium influx into muscle cells, which is necessary for muscle contraction. The reduction in intracellular calcium levels leads to muscle relaxation, thereby preventing the painful spasms commonly associated with menstrual cramps.
Modulation of the Endocannabinoid System
Recent research has shown that yarrow may interact with the endocannabinoid system (ECS), which plays a role in pain modulation and inflammation. The ECS consists of endocannabinoids, receptors (CB1 and CB2), and enzymes involved in their synthesis and degradation. Some of the sesquiterpene lactones in yarrow have been found to enhance the activity of CB1 receptors, which are primarily located in the central nervous system and are involved in the perception of pain.
By modulating the ECS, yarrow can increase the body's natural ability to manage pain, thereby providing relief from menstrual cramps.
Recommended Usage and Timing
For optimal prevention of menstrual cramps, it is recommended to start drinking yarrow tea 10 days before the expected onset of menstruation. This timing allows the bioactive compounds in yarrow to accumulate in the body and begin exerting their anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic effects. A typical dosage would be 1 to 2 cups of yarrow tea per day, prepared by steeping 1 to 2 teaspoons of dried yarrow flowers in boiling water for 10 minutes.
Conclusion
Yarrow tea is an effective natural remedy for preventing menstrual cramps, owing to its complex biochemical interactions that reduce inflammation, inhibit uterine muscle contractions, and modulate pain pathways. By starting the tea regimen 10 days before menstruation, individuals can significantly reduce the severity and discomfort of menstrual cramps. As always, it is advisable to consult with a healthcare provider before beginning any new herbal treatment, particularly for individuals with pre-existing conditions or those taking medications.

Enhancing School Readiness Through Functional Communication Training (FCT)
Tumblr media
Intervention for increasing school readiness of children with autism through Functional Communication Training (FCT) is a revolutionary method that emphasizes the role of communication in school and other settings. FCT is based on Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), and it is a planned procedure that substitutes the problematic behavior with positive communication, thus creating a conducive learning environment.
The place of FCT in ABA
FCT is one of the key components of ABA Therapy to understand the purpose of undesirable behaviors in children with autism and exchange them with functional communication skills. Therefore, FCT directs attention to the function of disruptive behaviors, be it gaining attention or escaping from a task, and then provides children with the necessary means to communicate appropriately. This improves their language skills and socialization — a component of school readiness.
Importance in School Preparation
Mainstream school transition for children with autism does not only concern their ability to learn but also their ability to communicate. In this preparation, FCT is vital as it prepares the child to ask for what they want appropriately. This can greatly decrease the amount of aggression, temper tantrums, and other behavioral problems, thus making it easier for the child to adapt to the school setting and be productive.
Implementing FCT: For this paper, the following is a step-by-step guide:
Assessment: Begin with an FBA to determine which behaviors to address and the purpose and antecedents of those behaviors.
Selecting Communication Responses: Select appropriate communication responses at the same developmental level as the undesirable behavior. This can be oral, non-oral, or through the use of augmentative and alternative communication devices such as a tablet.
Developing a Teaching Plan: Develop a clear and specific learning-teaching model describing how and where the new communication skills will be delivered, to whom, by what means, and the expected outcomes.
Intervention: Teach the plan in different settings and to all caregivers. It is important to encourage positive responses to enhance the new communication responses.
Generalization and Maintenance: Make sure the child can use the new communication skills in different contexts and with different people. There is, therefore, a need to continue practicing to maintain the skills in the long run.
Monitoring Progress: Monitor the child’s progress and use the FCT approach based on new needs or observed behaviors that may require changes in the approach.
Collaboration: Involve parents, teachers, and other caregivers in encouraging the child to use the new communication strategies in different contexts.
Data Collection: Monitor the targeted behaviors and the ways of applying new communication techniques to assess the outcomes of the intervention.
FCT in Practice
Examples of FCT in Action
Helping a child learn to say “break” instead of engaging in aggressive behavior when stressed.
They are introducing Picture Exchange Communication Systems (PECS) to assist non-verbal children in communicating their wants, such as using the picture of a drink to indicate that they want water.
We are integrating simple sign language for basic requirements such as eating or getting assistance.
Interacting with children using communication aids or applications that enable them to press buttons to express themselves.
Advantages and Cooperation for Success
The advantages of FCT are immense. FCT also supports positive communication, so the students do not have to exhibit difficult behaviors, thus creating a welcoming learning environment. Parents, educators, and therapists play a significant role in implementing FCT. Repetition and flexibility in the development of learning activities ensure that not only the communication skills are taught but also are used by the child in their daily interaction.
In conclusion, Functional Communication Training is a critical intervention that should be used to address school readiness in children with ASD. Emphasizing the role of communication as the key to behavior modification, FCT enables children to succeed in academic environments and other aspects of their lives, making it an essential element in a child’s schooling. Traveling to Paris? 3 things to do aside from watching the Olympics
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The opening ceremonies for the 2024 Summer Olympics are imminent and the two-week-long event — from July 26 through Aug. 11 — plus the 11 days of the Paralympic Games afterward, are sure to bring millions of people to the City of Love.Paris is already one of the most-visited places in the world, so it can seem overwhelming when trying to figure out what to see and do. With that in mind, here are three things visitors to Paris can do in between cheering for their favorite athletes as they go for the gold.SIGNED MICHAEL PHELPS ARTWORK FROM 2008 BEIJING OLYMPICS UNVEILED AND ON SALE FOR FIRST TIMEWhile the Eiffel Tower is a functioning radio and television transmitter, it is more than just that. The Eiffel Tower has four “floors,” including the ground floor, that are available for the public to visit. The tower is home to four restaurants, including a champagne bar located on the tower’s third floor – more than 900 feet above the ground. For those who are not afraid of heights, a ticket option that includes a glass of champagne (or soft drinks) and caviar served at the very top of the Eiffel Tower is available for purchase on the Eiffel Tower’s website.Alternatively, for those who prefer dining at a slightly lower elevation, Le Jules Verne is a two-Michelin-starred restaurant located on the Eiffel Tower’s second floor. That’s still 377 feet up in the air.FAMILY DOG ENJOYS TRAVELS THROUGH EUROPE ON A 12-DAY ADVENTURE TO ITALY, FRANCE AND MORE”The magic of this location 125m up from ground level instantly bewitches diners, who are further captivated by the high-flying cuisine,” the Michelin Guide’s website said. The guide continues, “When booking, ask for one of the tables near the windows, as the view over Paris through the tower’s iron fretwork is nothing short of spectacular.” The tower’s “first floor,” which rises 187 feet in the air, is home to Madame Brasserie, a restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, its website said.MUSEUM OF THE BIBLE IN WASHINGTON, DC, OFFERS NEW INTERACTIVE EXHIBIT ON WORSHIP And for anyone looking to work off a meal, the first and second floors of the Eiffel Tower can be reached by stairs or elevator. The Eiffel Tower’s website recommends purchasing tickets in advance. The largest cemetery in Paris, Père Lachaise Cemetery, is the final resting place for about 70,000 people – including some very well-known individuals.French novelist Honoré de Balzac, “The Doors” lead singer Jim Morrison, Irish poet Oscar Wilde, Polish composer Frédéric Chopin, and French singer Edith Piaf are among those who are buried at Père Lachaise Cemetery. Guided tours are available as well, its website said. Another option is to visit the catacombs, an underground ossuary of millions of bones. The catacombs were first built in the late 18th century, its website states, in response to “major public health problems tied to the city’s cemeteries.” PARIS, ANYONE? INFLUENCER HOSTS ‘EMILY IN PARIS’-INSPIRED TRIP OF A LIFETIME TO THE CITY OF LOVEThe catacombs themselves were former limestone quarries. The bones of the deceased were then moved to the catacombs, under cover of night, to “avoid hostile reactions from the Parisian population and the Church,” the catacombs’ website said. Bones were added periodically until 1860, the website noted. Eventually, the bones were arranged in a somewhat organized pattern, and the site was first opened to the public in 1809, according to the website.”A register was placed at the end of the circuit, where visitors could write their impressions. It was filled very rapidly because these visits had quickly become a success with both the French and foreigners,” the website said. For more Lifestyle articles, visit www.foxnews.com/lifestyleMore than two centuries after its creation, about 500,000 people each year take the trip down to see the catacombs, it said. Tickets for the one-hour tour, which covers 1.5 kilometers of the catacombs, are available on the catacombs’ website. Paris is the home of some of the most storied works of art and architecture in the world. At the Louvre, you can catch a glimpse of the enigmatic smile of “Mona Lisa,” or the “Winged Victory” or “Venus de Milo,” along with thousands of other priceless works of art. While Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris remains closed following the devastating 2019 fire, those looking for their stained-glass fix are not out of luck.A short walk away from Notre Dame is Sainte-Chapelle, commissioned in the 13th century by King Louis IX – the future St. Louis – as a private chapel in his apartments, said the website for Sainte-Chapelle. The upper chapel features 1,113 stained-glass scenes, “illustrated like a giant comic book of the Middle Ages” telling the story of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, the website said.  About two-thirds of the stained-glass windows are from the Middle Ages, according to the website. There are works of art to be found outside as well. CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR OUR LIFESTYLE NEWSLETTERThe Jardin des Tuileries, or Tuileries Gardens, is a public park featuring artwork by some of France’s master sculptors, including Auguste Rodin — whose marble sculpture “The Kiss” has been around since 1882.The Tuileries Gardens also have a special place in Olympic history as well, its website said. The park was host to the épée tournament at the 1900 Olympic Games, and “for the first time three medals of different colors were awarded, thus inspiring the principle of three medals for the top three finishers in an event,” its website said.

Cannabis edibles have gained popularity among both recreational and medicinal users as a discreet, convenient, and enjoyable way to consume cannabis without smoking or vaping. This comprehensive guide offers insights into the various types of cannabis edibles, their effects, and important tips for safe consumption.
Varieties of Edibles: Gummies, Chocolates, Baked Goods, Beverages, and More
Cannabis edibles are available in a diverse range of forms, each providing distinct flavors and experiences:
1. Gummies: Among the most favored options, gummies are simple to dose and come in a variety of flavors and strengths.
2. Chocolates: Cannabis-infused chocolates offer a delectable and luxurious method of cannabis consumption, with dark, milk, and white chocolate options.
3. Baked Goods: Ranging from brownies to cookies, cannabis-infused baked goods are classic choices that deliver a familiar and pleasurable experience.
4. Beverages: Infused drinks like teas, coffees, sodas, and cocktails provide a refreshing way to enjoy cannabis.
5. Savory Snacks: For those seeking less sweetness, savory cannabis snacks such as chips, crackers, and popcorn are available.
6. Tinctures and Oils: While not traditional edibles, tinctures and oils can be incorporated into food or beverages, offering a versatile consumption method.
Each type of edible offers a unique experience, not only in terms of taste but also in how the cannabis interacts with the body.
Dosage and Effects: Contrasting Edibles with Other Consumption Methods
Edibles are metabolized differently than inhaled forms, resulting in distinct effects:
Onset Time: Unlike smoking or vaping, which yield almost immediate effects, edibles can take between 30 minutes to 2 hours to take effect. This delay is due to the digestive process, where the cannabis is metabolized in the liver, converting THC into a more potent compound called 11-hydroxy-THC.
Duration: The effects of edibles may persist for an extended period compared to inhaled cannabis, often lasting between 4 to 8 hours or more, contingent on the dosage and individual metabolism.
Potency and Dosing: Edibles can exhibit higher potency than other cannabis forms due to the way THC is processed. It is essential to commence with a modest dose, typically ranging from 2.5 to 5 mg of THC for novices, and await the effects before consuming more.
Consumption Tips: How to Enjoy Edibles Safely
To ensure a favorable encounter with cannabis edibles, adhere to these guidelines:
1. Initiate with a Low Dose, Progress Gradually: Commence with a small dose and wait at least 2 hours before contemplating additional consumption. This method helps prevent overconsumption, which may result in adverse effects like anxiety or lightheadedness.
2. Exercise Patience: Due to the delayed onset of effects, it is crucial to refrain from consuming more edibles hastily. Allow your body sufficient time to process and react.
3. Understand Your Tolerance: Recognize your tolerance level and adjust your dosage accordingly. Even seasoned users should approach new products cautiously, as potency levels can differ.
4. Maintain Hydration and Nutrition: Having a meal before consuming edibles can help moderate the effects. Always keep water nearby to stay hydrated.
5. Opt for a Comfortable Environment: Particularly for individuals new to edibles, it is recommended to be in a familiar and cozy setting where you can unwind.
Conclusion: Promoting Responsible Consumption and Exploring Various Products
Cannabis edibles present a versatile and pleasurable means to enjoy the advantages of cannabis. Whether you seek relief from medical conditions or simply desire a recreational experience, there is a broad array of products to discover. Always approach edibles with care, acknowledge the potency, and consider your personal limits.
For those intrigued by delving into the realm of cannabis edibles, DMV Cannabis Delivery provides a diverse assortment of premium products to cater to every preference and requirement. Remember, the cornerstone of a positive experience is responsible consumption.

Questions and Answers
We’ll secure this post at the top and gradually incorporate your inquiries, providing answers alongside. Please ask any questions in the comments section below. This approach will streamline the search process. Let’s initiate this process with:
This approach will help me with questions and answers frequently asked:.
_________
1. What is the main purpose of gcmaf.
GcMAF is an immunotherapy product that, according to current clinical experiences, has been free of any adverse side effects in patients. It is designed to activate macrophages, which are crucial components of the immune system.
2. What does GcMAF stand for, and what rolls does it play in our bodies?
GLYCOPROTEIN MACROPHAGE ACTIVATING FACTOR
Lets Explore Gc Proteins, followed by their separate role in the Macrophage Activation factor.
A glycoprotein is a class of proteins that have carbohydrate groups attached to their polypeptide chains. This attachment of carbohydrates, known as glycosylation, occurs during or after the protein is made (cotranslational or posttranslational modification). Glycoproteins are found throughout the body and play various roles, including in cell structure, immunity, hormones, and cell-cell interactions . They are also integral to the membranes of cells, where they are involved in signaling and recognition processes. Glycoproteins can be categorized by their glycosylation type, such as N-linked or O-linked, depending on where the sugars are attached to the amino acid chain .
MAF: Macrophage-activating factor (MAF) is a type of signal, often a lymphokine, that primes macrophages to become more active in various immune functions. This includes enhancing their ability to destroy tumor cells, secrete cytokines, and clear pathogens . MAFs also influence macrophages to present antigens via MHC I molecules, participate in T-helper (Th) cell responses, and affect other immune responses.
Macrophages can exhibit different activated phenotypes depending on the combination of MAFs they receive. These are primed by signals like IFNγ and TNF to have increased activity against pathogens and tumor cells, and they secrete inflammatory cytokines.
Regulatory macrophages: These are induced by factors like glucocorticoids and are involved in producing anti-inflammatory cytokines like Interleukin 10, which can inhibit immune responses.Overall, MAFs play a crucial role in determining the behavior and function of macrophages within the immune system.
___________
3. Does GcMAF have the ability to reduce inflammation?
We have studied GcMAF for its potential role in modulating the immune system, which includes the ability to reduce inflammation.
This research suggests that GcMAF helps regulate the body’s inflammatory response by activating macrophages at sites of infection or inflammation and then inducing their apoptosis, which is the process of programmed cell death, when they are no longer needed. This, according to scientific findings, helps reduce the severity and duration of inflammatory responses.
_________
4. What are the ingredients of the polar GcMAF sprays and vials that you discuss within this group.
Deglycosylated GC MAF in stablised PBS buffer system.
________
5. What time of day is best to use the spray and is with or without food and water.
Based on current guidelines, it’s advised to take first thing in the morning and refrain from consuming any food or drinks for 15 minutes prior to and following the use of the spray. The dosage varies depending on the purpose of usage and the age of the individual, with lower amounts recommended for children.
___________
6. Is GcMAF useful for horses and pets.
Please understand that medical trials are conducted on animals for several key reasons, which are for humans and pets. Jump to number 5 if you are overwhelmed with my response
:
Animals, particularly mammals like mice, share a significant amount of their DNA with humans, making them suitable models for studying human diseases and treatments https://med.stanford.edu/animalresearch/why-animal-research.https://www.bing.com/search?form=SKPBOT&q=Biological%20Similarity
1. : Animals can develop many of the same health issues as humans, such as cancer, diabetes, and heart disease, allowing researchers to study these conditions and potential treatments https://med.stanford.edu/animalr.../why-animal-research.html.
And https://www.bing.com/search?form=SKPBOT&q=Health%20Problem%20Susceptibility
2. : With shorter life cycles, animals can be observed over their entire lifespan or even across generations, providing valuable insights into disease processes and long-term effects of treatments https://med.stanford.edu/animalr.../why-animal-research.html. And https://www.bing.com/search?form=SKPBOT&q=Whole%20Life%20Span%20Study
3. : It’s often not feasible or ethical to perform certain types of research directly on humans, so animals serve as surrogates to test the safety and efficacy of new treatments before they are considered for human trials https://med.stanford.edu/animalr.../why-animal-research.html.
And
4. : Many treatments developed for human use are also beneficial for animals, improving veterinary care and contributing to the health of pets https://med.stanford.edu/animalr.../why-animal-research.html
And https://www.bing.com/search?form=SKPBOT&q=Veterinary%20Benefits
The results from animal trials are crucial for advancing medical science, but it’s important to note that they don’t always directly translate to humans due to species differences. What works in animals may not work the same way in humans, and vice versa. Therefore, while animal studies provide a foundation, they are just one step in a comprehensive process that includes rigorous human clinical trials to ensure safety and effectiveness for human patients https://medicalxpress.com/.../2017-08-animal-trial....
5. In the context of pets, most of the findings from animal trials can be applicable, as many pets are also mammals and share similar biological systems. However, each species has its unique characteristics, so veterinary scientists must carefully evaluate how findings from one species can be applied to another. This is why the development of veterinary medicines also involves specific trials designed for the target species https://med.stanford.edu/animalr.../why-animal-research.html.
__________
6. According to research. Would GcMAF be useful for PANS/PANDA
pediatric acute-onset neuropsychiatric syndrome is commonly called PANS. PANDAS is a subtype of PANS with a specific known cause, exposure to a strep infection. While PANS/PANDAS occurs mostly in children who do not also have Autism Spectrum Disorder, in rare cases, a child may have both conditions.
PANS is an infection-triggered autoimmune disorder affecting the basal ganglia, which can result in a multitude of neuropsychiatric symptoms, including OCD-like behaviors, tics and/or restrictive eating in children and adolescents.
Because it is an autoimmune condition, and this will cause inflammation and nagalase levels to spike. In accordance with science studies, yes, Gcmaf has the capacity to benefit PANS patients. It is not claimed as a curative approach. Gcmaf has the ability to help the immune system as described in the scientific research provided in this group.
___________
7. Is GcMAF in food?
While some products claim to contain or stimulate the production of GcMAF, these claims are not supported by scientific evidence. It’s important to be cautious of claims regarding GcMAF in food products and to rely on peer-reviewed scientific research when considering health-related information.
Milk products are not considered GcMAF for several reasons:
1. GcMAF is a specific protein derived from the modification of vitamin D-binding protein, which is not naturally present in milk products such as yogurt.
2. Milk products do not contain GcMAF and therefore can not be claimed to have the same purported benefits
3. It’s important to differentiate between naturally occurring compounds in milk and those that are the result of specific scientific processes, like the production of GcMAF. Milk products, while nutritious, do not contain GcMAF and should not be confused with it or its associated medical claims.
GcMAF (Gc protein-derived macrophage-activating factor) is a naturally occurring protein in the human body that plays a role in the immune system. It is not typically found in foods. Instead, GcMAF is a result of the modification of vitamin D-binding protein, which is a process that does not occur in food production or preparation
________
8. Where can I purchase Gcmaf and what is the product range?
I don’t sell any products, I study the science.
I am often asked what countries have distributorships for the GcMAF, which we refer to and what is the range of products. The range of products are as follows:
Nasal and mouth sprays 7500ng in 20ml units
Nasal and mouth sprays 1500ng in 20ml units
Vials 7500ng in 3ml units
Vials 1500ng in 3ml units
Creams 15,000ng in 40ml units
Currently these are the countries with distributorships:
America
Europe
Isreal
Turkey
England
Candice Bradstreet is in contact with all distributors, she will connect you with your nearest distributor. she can be contacted in this group or, you can private message me for details, or even email me [email protected]
if emailing, please check your spam folder within 48 hours, if you have not received my reply.

9. What are your thoughts regarding GcMaf plus creams.
I prefer to base my response through science.
The product in question is derived from raw bovine colostrum and undergoes a fermentation process. It is important to note that fermentation will initiate the degradation of GcMAF. Furthermore, the pH balance and composition of this cream, which includes both antioxidative and antioxidant elements, appear to lack harmonious integration. The inclusion of vitamins in topical formulations may not be beneficial unless a deficiency exists. Due to the nuances of its manufacturing process, the cream cannot be classified as a GcMAF product. While this does not negate other potential utility of the cream, it is crucial to understand that the final product doesn’t align with its purported claims. My expertise is centered on the study of GcMAF products exclusively.
_________
10. Can GcMAF be made at home? The ingredients of genuine gcmaf are not YOGURT they are as follows; Deglycosylated GC MAF in stablised PBS buffer system.
This group refers to Gcmaf which CAN NOT be made from fermentation, spores or yogurt culture. You are forming a probiotic which is NOT gcmaf. Gcmaf is a complex process that CAN NOT be made at home in a kitchen. Deglycosylation process and buffer system is only part of the technology of gcmaf. There are two interpretations for the fermentation. One is, using any industrial enzyme to produce products so fermentation here referes to enzyme activity. But, in biochemical terms fermentation is a different pathway of cell metabolism which is followed by glycolysis.
Yogurt making at home IS NOT GCMAF!
_______________
11. Does Gcmaf cure Autism?
Cure is a big claim which I can not make.
There are too many co-factors when it comes to the Autism umbrella.
After reading study cases and observing results. I see the benefits for individuals on the Autism spectrum with elevated nagalase levels. I have whitnessed gcmaf aiding in speech development, coordination, and other life skills. I recall detailing a specific case study involving a young individual whose progress I closely monitored, it was shared within this group. The comprehensive analysis revealed significant improvements: enhanced speech, increased calmness, reduced repetitive behaviors, better coordination, and responsive behavior to parental instructions. Notably, the individual named Wes, began to exhibit empathy and initiate affectionate gestures like hugs, there were other positive changes observed which you can read about.
Together with Dietary enhancements, tailored to address deficiencies identified in blood tests, also contributed to the overall progress.
While this product is not a cure for autism — a condition with diverse etiologies including genetic factors, environmental influences, and in some cases vaccine-related impacts — it can be a valuable component of a broader therapeutic strategy.
In summery, the product has no known side effects, if nagalase levels are high, it certainly has the potential to make a difference. I don’t see it as a fully curable measure.
It’s important to recognize that autism has multifaceted origins and would seem to support a holistic approach to management.
Reference link to Wes, the case I followed and recorded:
______________
12. What’s is the difference between the applications of creams, vials and sprays:
Transdermal applications, such as the creams, are meticulously formulated to match the skin’s pH and optimize penetration. The skin’s outermost layer, the stratum corneum, acts as a barrier but has been traversed by science through various mechanisms, including hydration of the skin, which alters the barrier properties, and the use of chemical enhancers that modify the lipid structure of the stratum corneum to increase its permeability. This method is recorded particularly beneficial for children who may not tolerate sprays and for targeting skin conditions while also providing systemic immune support.
Nasal sprays are absorbed through the mucosa in the nasal cavity, which is richly vascularized, allowing for rapid systemic absorption and bypassing first-pass metabolism. This route is advantageous for delivering the active ingredients swiftly to the bloodstream, producing a quick therapeutic effect. while also providing systemic immune support.
Sublingual administration:
This is where the spray is placed under the tongue, is another effective absorption route due to the rich blood supply in that area.while also providing systemic immune support.
Injectable is often the preferred method for more severe conditions due to their high absorption rates and rapid onset of action. Subcutaneous injections injections deliver Gcmaf directly and absorbed slowly which seems to showing favorable results in the treatment of certain Cancer, giving a gradual release into the bloodstream .In summary, the choice of delivery method — transdermal, nasal, or injectable — depends on the condition being treated, the desired speed of absorption, and patient-specific considerations.
________________
13. Hi i have the order form! it has Oral Colostrum
VDTP tablets
60 pills per unit. I’m interested to know what these do? Compared to spray ect.
I have previously discussed how colostrum products should be avoided.
I advise against the consumption of milk-based products during serious illness, including colostrum. Lactose, the sugar found in milk derived products, are more difficult for individuals to digest, especially when they are unwell. This is because the body may produce less lactase, the enzyme needed to break down lactose, leading to discomfort such as bloating, gas, and diarrhea. Moreover, dairy is well known to thicken mucus, which might exacerbate symptoms. Therefore, avoiding lactose can help prevent these potential issues and contribute to a more comfortable recovery.
___________
14. Is GcMAF legal?
Gcmaf is currently considered off-label, which doesn’t means it’s illegal. In situations involving late-stage cancer, where no alternative curative treatments are available, off-label products may be considered by people. Health is not owned by the FDA!
Products not approved by the FDA are not illegal; it simply indicates that they have not been verified by the FDA for specific uses. The FDA is a private company.
— — — — — — — — — —
15. My child doesn’t like nasal sprays and it is difficult to get the spray under his tongue, please advise.
Please don’t be concerned regarding the absorption of gcmaf orally as absorption in the mouth occurs not only only sublingual but also using buccal routes. Sublingual administration involves administration under the tongue where it dissolves and is absorbed by the blood vessels there. This method allows the medication to enter the bloodstream quickly, bypassing the digestive system.Buccal administration is when the drug is placed between the gums and the cheek. The medication dissolves and is absorbed by the blood vessels in the cheek. Both methods are used for their rapid absorption into the bloodstream and are beneficial for patients who may have trouble with the nasal spray.

16. Is D3 important:
Hormone/vitamin D3 is directly connected to Gcmaf.
There are limitations of the D25 test known as 25 hydroxy, the D25 test only measures vitamin D’s inactive form and might not fully reflect one’s vitamin D levels due to individual differences in how it’s converted to the active form, D1,25, influenced by genetic factors.
It’s advisable not to depend solely on the D25 test for assessing vitamin D levels.
This test, which measures the inactive form of vitamin D, hasn’t been updated to reflect our current understanding of vitamin D metabolism.
The test operates on the outdated belief that everyone converts inactive vitamin D to its active form at the same rate. However, genetic research has revealed that this conversion rate varies significantly among individuals due to differences in their vitamin D receptor (VDR) genetics. Consequently, a person who converts vitamin D slowly may appear to have adequate levels when, in fact, their active vitamin D level is low. Conversely, a fast converter might show low D25 levels but could actually have high active vitamin D levels, risking toxicity if given additional synthetic vitamin D.
It’s challenging to find doctors skilled in interpreting these tests by their ratio. For a safer assessment, it’s recommended to measure both D25 and active D1,25 levels from the same blood sample.
Acknowledging that the conversion from inactive to active vitamin D varies among individuals is crucial for accurate vitamin D assessment. Genetic differences affecting the vitamin D receptor (VDR) play a significant role in this process and consequently, in the body’s response to vitamin D intake.
Measuring both D25 and D1,25 levels simultaneously offers a more complete picture of vitamin D status and metabolism.
This dual measurement can reveal the balance between the vitamin D forms, informing more tailored supplementation plans. We recommend to measure both D25 and D1,25 levels for a comprehensive evaluation and to account for individual metabolic variations.
The metabolic pathways of Vitamin D are complex, with each form serving distinct functions. The key lies in maintaining a balance among all these components for optimal results.
The impact of synthetic substances, including d3 on retinol uptake, can vary depending on the specific context and the synthetic compounds in question. Generally, retinol uptake into cells is facilitated by certain proteins, such as stimulated by retinoic acid 6 (STRA6). In some cases, alterations in the expression of these proteins can affect retinol uptake. For instance, a study on endometriosis showed that progesterone receptor is necessary for high STRA6 expression, which controls retinol uptake. In endometriotic stromal cells, decreased expression of STRA6 led to reduced retinol uptake.
D3
It is possible to produce non-synthetic vitamin D3. Natural sources of vitamin D3 include lichen, a type of algae that grows on rocks and tree bark, and is a sustainable source of vitamin D3 https://organicshortlist.com/organic-vitamin-d/. Vitamin D3 can also be derived from fish oil and sheep lanolin. Fish oil comes from the skin of fatty fish such as salmon or tuna, which naturally contain vitamin D, while lanolin is a waxy substance secreted by glands found in a sheep’s skin
Moreover, advancements in technology have led to the development of methods like the continuous microflow process, which is a greener and more efficient way to synthesize vitamin D3 compared to traditional batch processes
This process involves UV photoirradiation and high temperature and pressure to optimize and simplify the synthesis of crystalline vitamin D3 https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s11367-019-01634-6.
It’s important to note that when choosing vitamin D supplements, it’s beneficial to look for those that are labeled as natural or organic, as they are likely to be free from synthetic additives and may be better for health and safety https://www.approachwellness.com/natural-vitamin-d.html.
Please take a 25 hydroxy test to establish your D3 levels, 90 to 100 is the optimal range to aim for.
Here are some links to purchase a good source of D3. Feel free to add other plant forms in the comments section of this post.

17. Does Gcmaf activate vitamin D receptors?
GcMAF itself does not directly activate vitamin D receptors (VDR), it is involved in the pathway of vitamin D metabolism. The activation of macrophages by GcMAF can lead to various downstream effects, including those related to vitamin D functions. For instance, the activation of VDR modulates the expression of certain cytokines which are responsible for a shift toward the M1 phenotype of macrophages. In summary, GcMAF is closely related to the vitamin D system and its effects on the immune system, but it does not directly activate vitamin D receptors. Instead, it influences the immune response through its action on macrophages and is associated with the broader regulatory mechanisms of vitamin D.

The Stanley and Audrey Burton Gallery, Leeds.
Another slightly rainy March afternoon, I walked up the famous Parkinson steps at the University of Leeds. The steps are a hub to the students of the university, many use it as a meeting point, to eat lunch, have a drink, it has historically been used as a meeting point for student protestors too. The steps are an iconic part of the student life at the university, but I was an outsider going in, a Leeds native stepping into the iconic Parkinson building. I'll admit that was an exaggeration, although the gallery is university run, it is open to the public and this was not a covert mission. As I walked into the Parkinson Building, I was greeted with grand high ceilings and a streaming banner donning a headshot of Keir Starmer, who I now know went to Leeds University. I plucked up the courage to ask the receptionist for directions and made my way through the beautiful hallway and found the gallery tucked into a corner.
Tumblr media
Although the gallery was small, it maintained a bright and airy feel which appropriately housed its small but impressive art collection. There was a collection of abstract artworks that really interested me.
Tumblr media
Additionally, throughout the gallery, pieces related to the climate crisis were labelled and brought up some really great questions and talking points about the artworks and climate change in general. I felt that this interactive aspect to the gallery was really effective in keeping the viewer engaged in the artwork and helped to connect the works to the outside world and current affairs in a direct way. The artworks in this climate crisis collection were varied. Some were specifically created by the artist in response to this problem, but some were old paintings of landscapes that the curators had labelled with the contemporary lens of the climate crisis. I thought this was really interesting as it reminded the viewer that even art that is hundreds of years old is still relevant in modern discussions of art and politics. Another interactive aspect of this collection was the visitors comments booklets. People had written some really encouraging and insightful comments. It was great to see the effect that the collection had had on so many people from different backgrounds, I believe that this type of visitor focused activity in a gallery really adds to the experience of going. Although, I did read one comment insulting Leeds United Football Club. Instead of rising to this mockery, I wrote my own comment in the booklet: "I liked the reminder that we are not above nature. That nature existed before us and will continue to exist after us. The relationship between art, people, and nature is great!"
Tumblr media
"Leeds are falling apart again."
One Night, One Dream, Life in the Lighthouse.
On another occasion, I had heard about a new exhibit at the Stanley and Audrey Burton Gallery from a contemporary Iranian artist and I knew I had to see it. Mohammad Barrangi's Iranian roots and influence in his artwork appealed to me from my work on Iranian and Persian art in my Non-Western Art module and his installation art appealed to me from my work in my Museums and Galleries module.
Tumblr media
The exhibition explored Barrangi's relationship to Iran, migration, and disability. He moved from Iran to Yorkshire in 2017; he had been an artist as well as a Paralympian runner in Iran until then, continuing his art in Yorkshire.
The room that the exhibit was homed in opened up around a corner into a much taller ceiling. One of the walls was painted a warm yellow that almost signalled that something different was happening in this room to the viewer. The low buzz of traditional Persian music permeated the air and although I could not understand the presumably Farsi lyrics, they added to the feeling of cross-cultural understanding and appreciation that the exhibition created.
Tumblr media
The mixture of traditional Iranian art motifs and absurdist childlike whimsy created a strange feeling, but one that completely fitted the story that the artist was telling. The installation in the centre of the room titled The Sea is Stormy captures the innocence of a child migrating across the world and what kinds of things may happen in their dreams.
