anyway I think zedaph’s like. plotline. character arc whatever is so funny to me. This man shows up to hermitcraft after being in a singleplayer world for 100 episodes and the first thing he does is turn around and build a hole in the ground and not talk to hardly anyone. And the second thing he does is trap the door. Excellent. So then he spends a season or two being a genius and inventing new mental illnesses for his viewers to have and etc etc. Dresses up for Halloween as the embodiment of death and goes up to people and asks them to die. Like. Normal things. He builds another hole in the ground and builds a complicated redstone device that can tell the time for him so he doesn’t have to go outside. And of course he traps the door again. Then in season eight he decides you know what I’m going to start regularly interacting with people other than my two (2) close friends. And you know how I’m going to do it. I’m going to put them in a box and psychologically evaluate them. Awesome. Wonderful. We love to see it. You know what that is? Growth. And so now we’re at season nine and he’s pretty regularly teaming up with the others and being silly and everything. Okay so I finished ACOSF yesterday, and all I could do after that was lie in bed for most of the night trying to answer my own questions. As if SJM had written at the end: based on what we learned through this series what do you think happened…?

▪️Does Elain get to be with our beloved shadow singer?

▪️Does Gwyn ends up with him?

▪️Is Mor ever going to come out to her family?

▪️Will Lucien be happy and find a place to call home?

I got into this series because I saw a bunch of fan art. And I kind of spoiled the main plot for me, I knew Rhysand and Feyre were end game but I kept getting confused about Azriel, Gwyn, Lucien and Elain.

I was expecting each character to have their own chapters so we could see the development of these relationships. And I was so sure Azriel ended up with Gwyn.

And Elain with Lucien.

But nothing of it happened.

I enjoyed Nesta’s journey and how she was mated with Cassian. I adore them both.

I know now that there might be another book to this series and I’m here to pour my heart out about how I feel about the story of two of my favorite characters.

💐Elain and Azriel💐

Because I saw lots of fan art declaring Az and Gwyn were kind of endgame. But I disagree.

I’m glad it didn’t end like that.

I know they all are gonna be happy in the end. But I have my biases about it.

I proceed to enlist my reasons to believe why ✨ELRIEL✨ is the right path.

🌹 Let's face the fact that Elain has a trauma after being kidnapped and dropped into the Cauldron. Yes it did served some greater goods like the fact she DID NOT marry that ;d10t whose name I don't even remember. (Ok I do, freaking Grayson) and now the three sisters get to be together for ever. 🥹🫰🏼

But Lucien and Tamlin helped plotting this against Feyre. I still can’t see how this could have made Feyre go back together with Tam but… he was desperate.

And he knew she loved her sisters and would not allow them to be hurt.

Granted, maybe "they didn't know" what the King was capable of but GOD, Elain must be having a hard time forgiving Lucien. Not just because hauling them to the King but because all of his omissions to her sister. I always thought about our lovely Lucien as Tam’s puppet. Like they were in this toxic friendship where Lucien was agreeing to everything Tam said because he would get upset if he didn’t and Lucien was being disloyal to himself just to have Tam content.

🦇While on the other hand Azriel saved her EVERY SINGLE TIME.

😒I remember how Lucien sat there trying to reach through the bond to see if he could tell what was wrong with her and after the most uncomfortable 30 minutes he doesn’t have a clue and Azriel 😍 can tell after 30 seconds Elain is a Seer.

🌿He takes her to the garden and didn’t push her, he just keeps her company. And the fact that he remembers Feyre mentioned Elain’s love for flowers IS SO SO SWEET. 🥹

👒Feyre says they are and I quote “the only civilized ones.” Which means they are so alike. At their first meeting they both try to smooth the mood and end up relaxing around each other.

☯️They are both quiet and introverted but Az is a spymaster, he tortures people and is surrounded by shadows. He feels insecure about his past and his scars and Elain is all sunshine and flowers. Calling him BEAUTIFUL when they arrive at the townhouse, making him blush. BALANCE. They can perfectly complement each other.

🗡️Az hands Elain Truth Teller, and he had never handed it to anybody.

❤️‍🔥After 500 years of Az head over heels for Mor, Cas noticed he no longer looked at her as he used to. AFTER 500 YEARS! What could have happened? What took Az out of his monumental crush on Mor? ELAIN! The answer is ELAIN. 😫😫😫

🤩It would be refreshing if this mating bond didn’t work. My heart squeezed when Az asks Rhys about the Cauldron being wrong about it. How he tried to expose his reasons to believe it doesn’t make sense she was mated to Lucien because his two brothers were mated to the Archeron sisters. And tbh I think the same. Amren said it once, that it was not a coincidence the three sisters were there. And we also have THREE BAT BOYS. Lovely, handsome, always caring BAT BOYS. (I’m not saying Lucien is not all those things but it just makes better sense to me she goes to the other available bat boy).

🍁And it would be more interesting than seeing Lucien being unhappy about Elain's indifference. Their interactions are uncomfortable, FUN but uncomfortable.

🏔️You know what would be SO OFF THE CHARTS?! That we could get to see them trying to make it work between Lucien and Elain. And also Az and Gwyn. Go through the details of how they can make it work fine but there’s still something missing and BOOM, Elain ends up going back to Az because that’s what she truly wants. And what Az wants too.

🌠Rhys said his parents were mates but weren't right for each other.

And don’t worry, Lucien is still got a lot of options for his future love life. He will be happy. Let's just accept the fact that just because they're mates doesn't mean Elain doesn't have a choice.

And there may or may not be a penalty for the loser~

🔮 Tickle scenario

Being from Khaenri'ah, you weren't exactly the biggest fan of the Archons, nor the firmest believer, but you were sure that they blessed you in the instant when you met Cyno.

He was just perfect for you... and he made you feel at home in a compliment foreign country like Sumeru. He was so goofy and affectionate, but he also had that solemn aura of authority that made you admire him even more. You two shared many hobbies, which made the two of you get even closer, although the general could be merciless while playing Genius Invokation TCG...

But he usually found a way to make you forgive him for being too aggressive while playing, like he was doing when he dragged you around the whole Avidya Forest to make you see the most beautiful landscapes (he got some pointers from Tighnari).

"So... do you forgive me for yelling while playing?" The general asked you with sad, pleading puppy eyes while you two were sitting on a huge tree branch. "Well, that yell startled me quite a lot..." You pouted. The truth is, you had already forgiven him the moment he took you to a very big and tall tree to watch the sunset, but seeing him so troubled was quite cute.

"I see..." He said in a solemn tone, trying in vain to hide his sadness and mortification, "I'm sorry for making you uncomfortable, and take all the time you need to forgive me..." That tone, that nervous fidgeting with his hands, those sad eyes... you couldn't help it, you bursted out laughing.

"Cyno... babey... I was just messing with you..." You finally confessed, watching his expression turn from guilty to confused to astonished to pouty. "Come on... don't pout! I couldn't help it, your reactions were just too cute~" You teased, but the general remained grumpy.

"Awe... won't you smile for me..? I know you want to~" You whispered the last sentence into his ear while scribbling gently up and down his back, enjoying the series of startled sounds and choked laughter that left your partner's mouth.

"See? Just give in and gimme a smile, holding it in is pointless" You teased in a very sweet tone, something you probably learned while getting wrecked by Yae during your time in Inazuma.

However, Cyno was tough and it would be a lie to say you didn't know... Archons, his head was sturdier than a plank of Adhigama Wood! You were sure that only drastic measures would've been enough with him, and being a good partner you knew exactly what you needed.

In a swift movement, you straddled him and wrapped him in a tight hug, then you started blowing a series of quick little raspberries on his collarbones. It was a little unusual to be so sensitive there, but Cyno was a very peculiar person so he didn't surprise you too much.

"HMMMM- HAHAHAHAHAHAHA OKAY OKAHAHAY IHIHI'M LAHAUGHIHIHIHING STAHAHAHAHAHAP" He finally gave up after lasting so long. "See? It wasn't so hard~" You kissed the white-haired guy on the nose, turning him into a flustered mess.

Eventually, the sun began to set to leave the scene to the night sky, so you and your lover decided to glide down from the tree and head home together.

However, as soon as your feet touched the ground, you stumbled over something you clearly hadn't seen, and before you knew what was going on, you found yourself lying on your stomach on the soft grass with a weight on your back.

Well... that weight had a name, and that name was Cyno.

"Cyno, what the-" You started, but he quickly interrupted you, "I, the General Mahamatra, will not tolerate your crimes of mischief any further. Judgment is upon you!"

With that sentence, he started scribbling on your right thigh and squeezing on the left one, switching techniques to never let you get used to the feeling. "Nonono- HEHEHEHEHEHEHE WAHAHAIT IHIHIHIHI'M SAHAHAHARRY NOHOHOHOT THIHIHIS!!!" You begged, but your pleads fell on deaf ears and the tickle attack continued.

"WAAAAAEEEHEHEHEHEHE PLEHEAHAHAHSE NOHOHOHOHOT THIHIHIS!! ANYTHIHIHIHING BUHUHUT THIHIHIS!!!" You pleaded pointlessly. Cyno knew your limits very well, and he was aware that you still hadn't reached it.

Suddenly, an idea hit you. You managed to turn your arms back and with a bit of luck, you found Cyno's bare feet, completely vulnerable as he was sitting on top of you. It took only a quick scribble to make him jump off and finish that tickle fight.

"You're a meanie..." You panted while you recovered from that brutal thigh-tickle attack. "But you love me~" He replied with a smug knowing smile. "Indeed I do..." You grabbed his hand and finally started heading home.

"Technically I won the tickle fight~" You teased.

If you don't like her that way why would you give her your social media? Cause then she's probably going to bother/stalk you there. & if there are things you share about your personal life there that you don't want her sniffing through just lie, make up some excuse why you don't want her to have it, it's what I've done when people I don't really like/trust or seemed shady asked for mine. Example: "Hey, what's your Facebook?" "You know, I actually don't use Facebook anymore, yeah I accidentally locked myself out, sorry. xiaoge (and liu sang if you want to) for the ask meme 👀

Xiaoge 

My first impression

I honestly can’t remember all that well because it was such a long time ago, but when I first discovered Daomu Biji, it was through PingXie clips on twitter from Ultimate Note, and because I had nothing to do and found them cute I ended up finding a carrd where someone gave a barebones rundown of what you had to know to not be extremely confused if you wanted to watch it. The way Xiaoge was described in it and his initial appearance in Ultimate Note made me think he was the quiet warrior stereotype that felt a lot of things strongly but just didn’t express them openly, a lot introverted and a little lost in a lost puppy kind of way

My impression now

Xiaoge to me now is multifaceted in ways I feel deserve their own separate post, but I’m going to tl;dr it as in some ways, I feel like he’s almost a subversion of the stereotypes he’s presented as. So much of Xiaoge’s character arc both in the present timeline and in past events is about his dehumanization, but that dehumanization isn’t purely about the ways others treat him, it’s also in the way he himself has become “other”. The Three Days of Silence extra goes into this the most explicitly, but the llama at the temple wants Xiaoge to carve a statue out of a stone by infusing emotion into it because he feels that “no man is a stone”, that is it say that no human being is without emotion, and only by proving that he can feel can Xiaoge prove that he’s human. But the problem is that by that point Xiaoge, both by circumstance and by design, to all intents and purposes has become a stone in some respects in terms of his distance to people on a personal level. It’s not an accident that Wu Xie often compares him to a god or to Buddha with no passions or desires of his own, because it’s what he’s been made to be, and his indifference, that’s a defining character trait, isn’t feigned. It’s genuine.

So Xiaoge’s character development very much revolves around breaking free from his identity as a tool and as something almost akin to a bodhisattva to obtain his own identity as a human being that can connect with others.

It’s more complicated than that and I’m generalizing, but I feel that Xiaoge is someone who’s inherently merciful and kind, but is also generally speaking not invested in most people on a personal level, mostly because forming a connection with anyone is an exercise in futility, both because Xiaoge’s life experience and what “fate” has imposed on him make it difficult for people to relate to or understand him, and also because that distance means most people will inevitably only want to use him. But he does care about the people who’ve successfully forged a connection with him, he just shows it through actions, not words. Is he also a little awkward in interpersonal relationships sometimes? Yeah that too

Favorite thing about that character

Probably the fact that despite everything he’s gone through he’s Daomu Biji’s goodest boy. He’s kind in a completely uninterested way. That and how much of a troll he is that’s the Zhang in him coming out

Least favorite thing

Maybe that he’s so flippant about his own well-being and bodily comfort. He tends to view himself as an extension of a purpose and is in general very pragmatic, but because of how removed from people and humanity he is, it means he doesn’t really take himself into consideration much over the people he cares about. There a bit in the Fishing King extra where he slashes his own hand open and when Wu Xie later realizes it, he asks Xiaoge if it hurts, and he replies that it doesn’t. And Wu Xie doesn’t comment on it, but his overall internal thought process is a bitter “of course it doesn’t hurt”

Favorite line/scene

Trying to pick a scene that’s about him specifically and honestly the entirety of the stories about when he’s doing his release into the wild during the Tibetan Sea Flower flashbacks. Jaded and ruthless baby, but even before he was ever Zhang Qiling he was still more humane than everyone around him despite having been used as a disposable blood bag by his own family

Favorite interaction that character has with another

Everyone’s expecting the “If I disappeared no would notice” scene with Wu Xie but you know what I’m gonna go with something else even if that scene is up there.

In the Fishing King extra when Wu Xie goes to fist bump him because they beat Pangzi at rock paper scissors and Xiaoge doesn’t understand so they stare at each other awkwardly and he ends up covering Wu Xie’s fist with his hand like ‘paper’ my heart

A character that I wish that character would interact with more

To be honest Xiao Hua or Huo Xiuxiu? You don’t ser much of those three in the same room but I imagine Xiaoge and Xiao Hua would be a very efficient, pragmatic and silent duo

Another character from another fandom that reminds me of that character

Not entirely because I don’t think I know any character that’s exactly like Xiaoge, but a little bit Shenhe from Genshin. Emotionally restrained to the point of lack of emotion but by design, mistreated as a child, also a little bit of a troll and straightforward when confronted with people with bad intentions. Also very combat efficient.

A headcanon about that character

I don’t know if I have a really big one besides I like the headcanon that Xiaoge is ace or demisexual? I have a hard time picturing him having had any kind of romantic relationships and to be honest even casual sex doesn’t feel likely to me just because even that requires having some form of interest in the other party which Xiaoge doesn’t ever really seem to have. But who knows what he might have had to do out of necessity or if there were people he’s forgotten

A song that reminds me of that character

This is really hard but I haven’t found anything more fitting than ‘The Ghost on the Shore’ by Lord Huron

An unpopular opinion about that character

I had to think about this a little but if I had to pick something it might be the fanon perception of Xiaoge as a ‘feral cat’ that Wu Xie and/or others have ‘domesticated’. Part of it is personal interpretation, because I feel like he’s hardly feral considering outside of crisis situations he’s probably one of the most chill characters in Daomu Biji. But it also feels… I don’t know dismissive? To be calling him that when Xiaoge being out of touch with most people on a personally involved or intimate level is the fruit of so many things outside of his control he’s been subjected to. He’s spent the better part of his life being subject to the whims of an unnamed entity that uses him as it sees fit for an agenda the reader only knows exists let alone what it entails. He’s seen people at their most vile, been used by people in the most vile ways, and that mixed with his sense of duty as Zhang Qiling and his age (though he was already jaded even as a teenager before he was ever made into Zhang Qiling) has made him into someone who wanders the world without any real connection to the people in it. For a very long time Xiaoge just ‘existed’ in the most literal sense, and just because as a result of that he doesn’t care about social niceties (why would you care about face and other people’s attempts to maintain the façade of it in a cutthroat business like tomb robbing?) or knows or cares how to maintain relationships doesn’t make him ‘feral’.

Plus calling him ‘domesticated’ veers a little too much into dehumanizing him as if he’s some animal Wu Xie (or someone else) tamed and that answers to his beck and call. As if the entire point of Xiaoge’s story arc isn’t that Wu Xie is the first person he can remember who ever persisted in forging a connection with Xiaoge until Xiaoge was forced to realize he cared and felt a connection with another human being. As if the conclusion of that wasn’t him making a gamble on Wu Xie’s sincerity that he would come and pick him up in ten year’s time, as if Xiaoge choosing to stay in Yucun with him and Pangzi isn’t Xiaoge reciprocating that sincerity with his own, making an active choice to stay and call somewhere ‘home’ for the first time in his life.

I might be looking at this too deeply but it rubs me the wrong way

Liu Sang

Disclaimer: Since this is tagged, apologies in advance to Liu Sang fans. I’ve tried to be as reasonable as possible about my opinions, but that being said be warned I don’t like him, so if you'd rather not see any negativity about him, feel free to skip

My first impression

My introduction to Liu Sang was through fandom, both fanon, fanfic, and discussions about him that I’d seen/read before I ever watched Reboot, since I started with the dramas. From how people talked about him I was pretty hyped about him I’m not gonna lie, and I definitely got the feeling he was an important character, so seeing how loved he was, I was looking forward to seeing him for the first time in canon.

Then once I started watching Reboot my first impression kind of yoyo-ed around. There was a little whiplash from the gap between how fandom presented him vs. how he acted at the beginning of Reboot towards Wu Xie and Pangzi especially, but I figured given people liked him he probably got better. And to be fair he did! On my first full watchthrough of Reboot I ended up feeling pretty neutral about him, not in a negative sense, but more like how I tend to view most of the more minor characters (like Xiao Bai for example since we’re talking about Reboot). I appreciated he got character development and was left with a general “yeah he’s alright” impression

My impression now

Full disclaimer, I’ve only read half of Restart the book so far, so I can’t fully talk about book Liu Sang beyond his appearances in the South Sea King’s tomb and the immediate aftermath of that. I can talk more about Reboot the drama Liu Sang though.

The problem with my general impression of Liu Sang now is that it’s very polluted by my interactions with his fans. I won’t get too much into that because this is supposed to be about Liu Sang the character and not the Liu Sang fandom (because yes there absolutely is a Liu Sang fandom that exists as a subset of the Daomu Biji fandom), but to keep it short, the version of Liu Sang that I find is pushed forward a lot by his fans is a version that doesn’t correspond to either the drama or book version of him, and is instead heavily steeped in widely accepted fanon to the point it’s almost a different character sometimes. And that widely accepted fanon version is something that his fans have the unfortunate habit of being very pushy and single-minded about, and it’s caused a number of issues and rifts within the wider Daomu Biji fandom.

Keep in mind this is all my personal feelings and doesn’t necessarily reflect on every single person who likes Liu Sang as a character, but to get back to the point, it means that my overall impression of Liu Sang now is a pretty negative one. Full transparency (if it wasn’t already obvious) I don’t like him, and while I do find what I’ve seen of the book version of him has the potential to interesting, and I can absolutely appreciate that, not to mention the genuine character arc he gets in the drama, because of how his fans act about him, he’ll never be a favorite 

Favorite thing about that character

In the book so far what I find most interesting about Liu Sang is the ambiguity of his past and of his intentions. He’s initially presented in a way that’s puzzling in hindsight, and while part of that I think you can put down to Restart being a weird time for Wu Xie in general, there’s little clues that makes you wonder what his deal is and that his role in the story might be more than meets the eye.

He’s introduced as a consultant Wu Erbai trusts the competence of, and Pangzi is immediately incensed by him in ways that are almost uncharacteristic. Because Pangzi (in the books at least), is someone who regularly puts up a loud front and throws jibes at people when he doesn’t trust them in a way that’s both testing but not too aggressive to instigate a conflict unless the other party is openly hostile. But with Liu Sang he’s immediately, and to Wu Xie without apparent reason, extremely hostile and vitriolic. You learn later that Pangzi has heard sinister rumors about Liu Sang, and you infer from there the vitriol is coming from Pangzi wanting to keep someone potentially nefarious and ill-intentioned to a sadistic degree away from his friends. But you also later see him again when he listens to thunder at the beach in front of the guesthouse Wu Xie and co. are staying in, and Wu Xie’s observations give you the impression there’s something deeper going on. In Wu Xie’s words, he doesn’t like him, but he’s intrigued by what he represents (and not gonna lie I am too)

Least favorite thing

Besides the egregious fanon version of him I’m not touching on because it’s not actually canon, ironically I find early drama Liu Sang to be worse than early book Liu Sang. To be fair I don’t know how he evolves in the book, but in that Liu Sang is more focused on his job, and apart from his one iffy moment in the car where he’s constantly trying to snap pictures of Xiaoge without his consent (to which both Wu Xie and Pangzi react with variations of yelling and kicking his seat in), he’s really not doing anything questionable, unless you count being in on Wu Erbai’s test as questionable. Drama Liu Sang however by this point not only throws jibes around at both Wu Xie and Pangzi, but uses Wu Xie’s terminal illness as a leverage point to mock him and almost gets Wu Xie and Pangzi killed because he thought it was funny. Which is honestly at odds with his book character that’s actually very professional, because none of that is professional

Uhhh I don’t know that I have any? Maybe the part in Restart where he walks out into the thunderstorm to listen to the thunder and Wu Xie watches him until it triggers a moment of self-reflection. It’s not really about Liu Sang so much as it’s about Wu Xie and his headspace, but it’s a meaningful scene

Ok I’m not gonna lie that one moment in the Reboot drama where Liu Sang tells Xiaoge he’s his biggest fan and Xiaoge of all people takes a moment to emote because he’s that confused and baffled by the direction the interaction is taking is hilarious

Maybe Xiao Bai? I haven’t seen them meet in the book, but arguably in both that and the drama especially both Liu Sang and Xiao Bai are mirrors of each other in terms of what they represent in relation to Xiaoge and Wu Xie respectively. Plus their interactions in the drama were wholesome

An unpopular opinion about that character

I could probably go into this for a hot minute but everything surrounding the sanitized fanon version of Liu Sang that’s both in my opinion inaccurate (despite being presented as accurate) and absolutely in your face unless you take extreme pains to block out pretty much everything to do with him. To be clear, what people like is their business, but unpopular opinions aren’t called that for nothing, and this entire post is meant to be about my feelings, not objective facts.

That being said, fanon Liu Sang to me is woobified to a level that completely erases any traces of his actual character to cater to a very specific view of him that’s as far as I can tell made to be palatable. His fans make a concentrated effort of pushing forward, in my experience sometimes aggressively, what’s essentially a sanitized version of him that glosses over or deliberately erases any unsavory aspects of his character.

Which to be clear I have no problems with, most of if not all the characters in Daomu Biji are fundamentally imperfect and flawed, some to the point where other less niche (in western fandom spaces anyway) fandoms would label them as ‘problematic’. It contributes to making the characters complex and more human in my opinion. Which is why it’s kind of sad that Liu Sang has been reduced to being the fandom’s (or part of the fandom’s) ‘poor little meow meow’ who’s suddenly inherently likable.

Again, if you like that then that’s your business. The only reason I have strong feelings about this in the first place is because Liu Sang fans have, in my experience, the bad habit of shoehorning that version of him into everything, and by that I mean to the point of encroaching on other people’s lanes in ways that are incredibly tone deaf. It also feeds into the general problem the Daomu Biji fandom as a whole has of assuming that everyone is ok with anything and everything, and doesn’t believe in personal boundaries. But anyway, the point here is that I don’t like fanon Liu Sang, and the only reason I’m talking about him is because of this ask

Sam is so affectionate like who says the homies can’t hold hands or cuddle? Literal golden retriever boy, shows affection by laying all over his friends and loved ones. He also will pick up any cool rocks or shells he finds to bring them to his partner. Always brings wildflowers rather than a purchased bouquet. 

B = Best friend (What would they be like as a best friend? How would the friendship start?)

Sam decides he’s friends with someone and then you’re friends. He is the extrovert adopter of introverts. He collects them like Pokémon.  He’s the kinda guy who’s easy going and can talk to anyone. He makes a deeply loyal friend and is always on deck when you need cheering up.

C = Cuddles (Do they like to cuddle? How would they cuddle?)

Sam is super into cuddling but he’s a little wiggly and a little chatty. He’s got a lot of energy that makes him unable to sit still for lots of cuddling. (Unless you like to be bounced as he shakes his leg lol). But his favorite thing is to cuddle while he plays video games and you do your own activity.

D = Domestic (Do they want to settle down? How are they at cooking and cleaning?)

Sam does want to settle down eventually, but he is a little hesitant at doing it too soon. That’s more on the commitment side of domesticity—this boy can cook and clean but his success can be inconsistent. He’s easily distracted and tends to try and do too many things at once.

E = Ending (If they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?)

He wants to just rip the bandaid off and get it over with as fast as possible. He’s gonna be upset even if it’s mutual or it’s what he wants. Unless it was really gnarly he’d want to remain friends after because he’s got abandonment issues and a deep seated fear of being left and unloved.  

F = Fiance(e) (How do they feel about commitment? How quick would they want to get married?)

Does Sam want to get married and be a dad and have a family? Absolutely. But he has a hard time conceptualizing the future (I hc him as having adhd and my credentials are that I too have adhd) so it always seems like something that’ll happen in the distant future until literally he’s being handed a mermaid pendant and tripping over his words in absolute joy to accept. 

G = Gentle (How gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?)

So gentle emotionally but a little rough physically. Not mean, just a really physical kinda person who likes to pick his partner up or flop on them or jokingly wrestle.  

H = Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?)

King of hugs. Not only is he a hugger but Sam gives the best hugs, I’m talking both arms and squeeeeeeze. He sways side to side too and might give you a lil shake for extra affection. 

I = I love you (How fast do they say the L-word?

Sam actually holds off for a while due to his parents. He’s heard his mom say more than once she wishes that she’d have waited to have kids—that she’d really thought about what it would mean to be a soldier’s wife. Even though his stakes are lower, he still hesitates because marriage wasn’t a super duper positive thing growing up. 

J = Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they’re jealous?)

He’s pretty easy going, but he does get jealous. Usually he’ll go to Sebastian or Shane for advice (very different kinds of advice lmao). He’s been the man of the house on and off for his whole life and all that parentification made it hard for him to address or prioritize his feelings. He might get a little snappy and then feel bad after. 

K = Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?)

Sam’s kisses are like sunshine—he’s very sweet and affectionate. He loves to hold his partner and kiss them all over their face rapid fire. 

L = Little ones (How are they around children?)

Sam is an expert, five star older brother. Shane and Marnie both trust him to watch Jas. He’s so good with kids in part because he treats them like people and is good at communicating on their level. The king of convincing a kid something was their idea to get them to behave. 

M = Morning (How are mornings spent with them?)

He loves to sleep in but once he’s awake he is AWAKE.  Sometimes he can be a little overwhelming if you’re not a morning person but he’s good at keeping himself busy so he doesn’t disturb a less chipper partner until they’re ready to be coherent. 

N = Night (How are nights spent with them?)He’s a cuddler but he’s also a furnace. When he falls asleep it’s like he just turns into a space heater and is radiating. He also sleeps all over the place and moves around quite a bit. Loves to spend some time sitting in bed before sleeping to talk.

O = Open  (When would they start revealing things about themselves? Do they say  everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?)

Sam says things as they occur to him, which means one second he’s info dumping about the history of skateboarding, and the next he’s dropping his tragic backstory. It comes in bits and pieces, but there’s not a deliberate withholding. 

P = Patience (How easily angered are they?)

Sam is laid back and good with kids, he’s super patient. It’s rare he gets actually angry but he will get frustrated. When that happens he gets snappy and sarcastic. He’s not outright mean, but it’s not pleasant to be around. He’s the kind of person that if you call him on it he does stop immediately. 

Q = Quizzes  (How much would they remember about you? Do they remember every little  detail you mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything?)

The things that Sam remembers are often hit or miss–-his partner’s favorite food? Yeah. Their allergies? Totally? Their birthday? Well, he’s probably at least got the month right. He remembers his partner’s habits–the things that he sees everyday. He’s really observant and puts that to good use in a relationship.

R = Remember (What is their favorite moment in your relationship?)

It’s the time his partner let him teach them to skateboard.This isn’t a one time only event, but there was a specific time where his partner skated from Pierre’s to his house all by themselves (with him within arm’s reach should something go awry). They looked so proud of themselves and they were so excited to be involved in his hobby. They absolutely ate shit not a minute later but Sam caught them! No injuries were had, they celebrated with ice cream.

S = Security (How protective are they? How would they protect you? How would they like to be protected?)

Sam’s a lover, not a fighter. He’s very protective of his partner and his feelings, so most of his protection is emotional. He’s so loyal that it’s impossible not to feel secure in a relationship with him. He doesn’t think he needs protection, but his partner absolutely will go for the throat of anyone who wants to take away some of Sam’s sunshine. This is also a role Sebastian, Abigail, and Shane had taken on. (I hc that Shane and Sebastian are work besties who end up hanging out at the saloon whenever they’re both there. 

T = Try (How much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?)

Sam tries really hard but dates and time and planning are all very hard for him to manage. He’s much better with everyday tasks and gifts. I said it before and I’ll say it again: this man brings you cool rocks.  

U = Ugly (What would be some bad habits of theirs?)

He’s perpetually late and kind of really messy same. 

V = Vanity (How concerned are they with their looks?)

Nobody who doesn’t care about their appearance has hair that so completely defies gravity. Half of being a rockstar is having a lewk—Sam takes this very seriously both on and off the stage. It’s more about having a vibe than looking “good” exactly. 

W = Whole (Would they feel incomplete without you?)

Look, Sam is fine he’s a whole person on his own yeah, yeah yeah. But he is NOT going to be brave about it. 

X = Xtra (A random headcanon for them.)

He’s always missing something. Like at all times something is lost and he is looking for it. He’ll usually find it but it’s like every couple of days—CDs, keys, his phone, his headphones, Sebastian (He and Abigail left him at the mall once on accident) 

Y = Yuck (What are some things they wouldn’t like, either in general or in a partner?)

He doesn’t like people who make disliking children a personality trait—or disliking anything as a personality trait honestly. Liking things is cool! Cringe is dead! He’s ecstatic to find someone into the same weird indie band he likes! Enjoy things! Humans are cool! 

Z = Zzz (What is a sleep habit of theirs?)

Sam has exactly two modes: awake and asleep. When he’s sleeping he is gone, out for the count, unwakeable. When he is awake he is going, he is moving, he is grooving. There is no in between

Here I am with another “JJK Characters (as)…” idea.

This time: their (maybe unusual) comfort movies.

Featuring some of my own personal favourite comfort movies, enjoy <3

Satoru Gojo -> Howl's Moving Castle

You can’t tell me Gojo doesn’t recognize himself in Howl at least a little. He was sceptical of the movie at first but he loves the story far more than he likes to admit. (He even cries) As much as he is rizzful and arrogant on the outside, I feel like he truly does see himself in Howl because, after all, he is a kind and sweet man who is only trying to fight for what he thinks is right. The movie strangely touches something deep inside him.

Yuji Itadori -> Mean Girls

Maybe it seems like an odd choice to others but for me, that just kinda resembles him the most out of the entire list. I cannot fully explain why tho.

Megumi Fushiguro -> Spirited Away

I’d be lying if I said there was a reason for this choice. I just feel that as much as Megumi tries to keep to himself and be the introvert he is, he’d absolutely love stories like that. It might be completely surprising to others that this is a movie that deeply comforts him, but once you get to know him and his soft side it actually makes a lot of sense.

Nobara Kugisaki -> Shrek

It might be a bit unorthodox and unlike classic romantic fairytales, but that’s how Nobara is too. She’s a girly girl who loves shopping but the premise of not everything being the mainstream fairytale with a prince charming whose looks can hypnotize the entire female cast is just up her alley. She also loves the female dragon.

Suguru Geto -> Fight Club

All I’m saying is “You met me at a very strange time of my life”. Suguru oddly relates way too much to the narrator, having a difficult time with himself as if there are two different versions of him. He tries to do the right thing and after a lot of trial and error, he comes to a conclusion. That is what heavily resonates with him. It’s an odd choice for a comfort movie, but there’s something deeply captivating about it.

Kento Nanami -> Shawshank Redemption

Nanami is the most grown-up of the whole bunch, so it’s no surprise that he prefers dramas and old movies. It might not count as an actual ‘comfort movie’ but it certainly is a movie that Nanami treasures.

Takuma Ino -> Grown Ups

It’s fun, it’s silly, it’s oddly deep sometimes. It’s exactly his taste. Takuma Ino isn’t one for deeply emotional movies. I feel he doesn’t want to dwell too much on emotions, it’s one of the only aspects where he is the absolute opposite of his mentor when it comes to movies. He wants a distraction from the seriousness of sorcery and goes for comedies like this that make him laugh until he’s crying.

Shoko Ieiri -> Trainspotting

It’s a Scottish movie about drugs, addictions, and everything in between. It might seem shallow on the outside, but the movie has so many different meanings. Shoko watches it less for actual comfort, but more because the meanings resemble something within her.

Choso -> Pixar’s Brave

This one just kinda makes sense to me. It’s just kinda Choso coded TT I know it’s mother and daughter, not brothers but the journey and the bond still resonates with him. He’s a big softie at heart, no one can convince me otherwise.

Aoi Todo -> The Lion King

Listen, hear me out for this one. In all seriousness, it’s essentially just a movie about a young man forgetting his way but a beautiful woman gets through to him and gets him back on the right path, where he emerges as the strong and fierce fighter he has always been. He starts to believe in himself and fights for his family, his land, and what he loves the most. Do I need to say more?

I’m contemplating trying online dating despite being an introverted graysexual/grayromantic bordering on aro/ace. However, that very same train of thought got me thinking about a wee imagine.

Side note: I KNOW TOM IS HAPPILY MARRIED. THIS IS MERELY FICTION. I STRESS: FICTION.

So fancy me this;

- You finally manage to get yourself to create an online dating profile. You don’t expect anything to come out of it, being distrustful by nature and especially when it comes to men.

- Nevertheless, after a few who were obviously looking for something casual if not just outright sex only, you get a message that leaves you somewhere between gobsmacked and flattered.

- Hey, I just wanted to say you look really pretty in that dress in your latest photo. I don’t expect you to reply, but thought I could at least send you this compliment. Which is completely genuine, by the way. Also, I saw that you put in your bio men above 40 shouldn’t interact with you but I couldn’t help myself. So, again, I don’t expect you to reply, but I’d like to get to know you. I promise I have no ill intentions.

- After a moment’s hesitation, you reply with a simple ‘thank you’.

- And that practically kickstarts it all.

- You soon find yourself talking about anything and everything. The conversations range from your hobbies to trips to go on some day to what you’re having for dinner.

- You’re the first and only one he shoots a message before and after a bjj tournament.

- After some talking, you finally convince him send you a selfie.

- And you honestly can’t believe your luck. In fact, you think you may be a wee bit too lucky. Suspiciously so.

- However, he notes it’s a selfie from quite a while ago and he’s naturally quite shy and a private person. All the same, he assures you it’s really him in the photo even though nowadays he has more fine lines in his face.

- Regardless of the lingering doubts and after talking some more for a month or three, you finally dare to meet up in person.

- You get off the train at King’s Cross, nothing short of a nervous wreck.

- As soon as your feet hit the tiles of the platform, you consider turning back and go back home. Nevertheless, you force yourself to finish what you started.

- Trying your best to blend into the crowd, you scan the area to find Tom’s face. All you have to go on are the one selfie he sent you and his comment he very much looks the same albeit a tad older.

- “Looking for someone, miss?” you hear a gravelly voice behind you ask.

- You slowly turn around, ready to flee if this all turns out to be a catfish scenario.

- But it isn’t.

- Because right there, looking down at you with a tender smile, is Tom.

- For a moment, you simply gawk at him, absolutely incapable of uttering a single word.

- “I hope I don’t disappoint,” he says. Though he tries to make light of your shared discomfort, his smile doesn’t quite reach his eyes. Despite his best efforts to hide it, he’s just as anxious as you are. After all, why’d you want to get involved with a guy his age?

- “You don’t. At all,” you say after having regained the ability to speak.

- “That’s good. But before we head to my place to get you settled in, how about we sit down for a coffee?”

- “Sounds good.”

- The words haven’t left your mouth or you find your faces a few inches apart. Tom nudges your nose with his. “Can I first kiss you, though?”

- You nod.

- The kiss makes all the miles and waiting worth it. His lips are soft and plush, filled with the warm tenderness hidden behind all the words on the screen.

- Ready for a new start.

- With you.

Not sure if you agree with these because I just thought of which ones matches certain traits the characters have

first off thank you so much for so many ideas! After listening to the songs I’ve got a few things to say about how well it may or may not fit, I’m honestly happy to try any of these. Might take a while, but I’ll defenetly get quite a few of these done!

Riddle- I really do like the lyrics for this one, can envision overblot riddle singing it as he is overcome with the blot. the beat is pretty cool and I can already see some sort of nightmare that he may have, or I could try and write out an animatic base for the song with him. Very good song and I really like it! perfect first suggestion!

Trey- Would need to change a few lyrics here and there, fun jazzy song though! could have it so the MC is trying to ask him out by singing this. or another story with some other singing. Love the energy, just not into the innuendos in the song.

Cater- The song from Encanto is so, so, so good. Love that song and how it shows how crushing expectations can affect one's life. This definitely fits well with Cater's personality, having the mask of always being cheerful and bright, when in reality he's a bit cynical and hard on his true semi-introverted self.

The second song was deep, it has a wonderful beat and rhythm to it. The lyrics work super well to the deeper side that Cater has to his character, how he "puts on a happy face" despite his inner turmoil. could see this as an animatic writing piece, or the MC gets some sort of potion to get a look at the character's inner music. If I had to choose between the two songs, it would be this one first. Then maybe the Encanto song to help him realize he can be more than the face online.

Ace- Really fun song, with a good beat, and very fitting lyrics for the dumbass that is ace. Can definitely see MC singing this to him when he's pranked them. The energy is great! would change some lyrics here and there to fit him better.

Deuce- A very good song for deuce! very inspirational and shows how he wants to become better than he once was. "I've made mistakes but mistakes make you strong" had me really thinking about Deuce, and how he's become strong-willed due to his past. Despite the world against him, he's still here to become his best self. Another animatic-like thing that I could write. him talking with others and growing over the course of the story sharing what he knows with Epel, supporting the MC and the others, leading up to him getting his unique magic and proving he's better than he has ever been.

Leona- This one is pretty obvious, very fitting for Leona to sing Scars song. Very good idea for him to sing it too, using others to do the dirty work so he can be on top. Could have him sing this as he's scheming with the savanaclaw dorm to take out malleus and the other spelldrive leaders in book 2.

Ruggie- right off the bat the song sounds like something from mission impossible. interesting song, but not really feeling the Ruggie vibes for this one. seems too planned, Ruggie does plan but isn't cocky about how smart he is. I can see a few things in the lyrics but not enough to rewrite it. good suggestion but didn't vibe quite right.

Jack- Really nice beat and rhythm. nice vocals, and the lyrics are pretty good, but not quite the Jack I know. This version seems more obsessive, not really fitting for the standoffish wolf. Also, the first result for the song is a really intence and cool video.

Azul- The lyrics are very fitting for Azuls mindset and the way he does things with his contracts. The only downside is that the song is in another language... I can't really work with that as I'm american and only know english. Really cool song! im just incompitent when it comes to other languages 😭.

Jade- somewhat dark jazz kind of song, the lyrics aren't very fitting for Jade, The tangled-up main section of the song doesn't give his kind of vibe. It's a good song, just not quite Jade.

Floyd- Holy heck, this song definitely has Floyd vibes, with unnerving lyrics and crazed talking, with a jazzy upbeat song. But it's so good just on its own, I wouldn't know what to add or write for this! the only way I could possibly try and write this is by making some horrific dream sequence for him doing all kinds of horrific things to other students to get MC all to himself. amazing choice!

Kalim- Another perfect fit!! could absolutely write Kalim singing this as he and MC are dancing, could make it where he has a crush as he's singing this. Fun short and sweet song for the boy of sunshine!

Listened to both versions of the song, super fun and extravagant parade that Kalim 100% would do if he is able to. But it would be a bit too difficult to change up the words to be fitting to the ray of sunshine, super fun song, and happy to have the suggestion!

Jamil- very deep and booming low pop song. the vibe and lyrics are fitting for Jamil's inner turmoil as being under someone he knows he could be above. Being forced to hide his true better self because of his servitude to someone he hates. A very good and fitting song I could absolutely work with. maybe the potion of one's inner song could come for this one.

Another really good suggestion is Jamil introducing the dorm or the MC going over what happened in book 4. A perfect animatic-like sequence I could write out. The original song is fairly short so I would most likely go with the 2019 version of the song. Perfect suggestion!

Vil- Pretty good song for Vil! Shows how he is super popular and has just about everything a celebrity could want, yet he doubts something, he checks Mira so much and despises the results he gets to his question. Could do this song, but its already so perfect theres not much to adjust. and I cant really think up a scenario where this could be sung.

Rook- I love this song, so much, I just can't do much with it since I have no way to adjust a french song. I'm unable to use songs that use another language, but I can definitely see rook humming or singing this to himself as he watches his friends from afar. The lyrics when translated are pretty lonely and also about food cause of course. good suggestion, I just cant write it out.

Epel- I love this song, and the upbeat feeling it has. Not really an epel vibe though, he's very stubborn and brash at times. As good as this song is, it doesn't quite fit epel, or even someone else trying to help Epel. Good song, but not quite right for him though.

Idia- Really cool base-heavy song with electronic undertones that are very fitting to Idia. The lyrics are fairly fitting for him too, I just don't want to get stuff wrong about his backstory, but I'm trying to wait for the Ignihyde story to come out for us English players. Very good suggestion and song, I just don't know Idia well enough to do it justice.

Ortho- interesting choice but the country song doesn't seem very Ortho-like. The family vibes are good but It just doesn't fit him. sorry.

Malleus- First off and foremost is the title and giving it to malleus is a bit mean, if not fitting. The lyrics are very fitting to our lonely dragon boy... It hurts to say that this song is really him, just the pop rhythm doesn't really fit, but that's okay. Just wow.

Silver- Another character singing their inspirations song. Silver singing this would be very sweet as he probably is with his woodland friends. Maybe the Mc interrupts him similar to how the prince did with Arora all that time ago.

Sebek- HILARIOUS song, could be the first year's smack talking a bit about sebek. really good song, not very fitting of sebek himself but funny making fun of his croc like tendencies and attributes.

Lilia- Loving the meme song being one of Lilias. It's a good rock song that Lilia would love. Very fitting for Lilia's worldwide traveling and the adventures he's been on. The lyrics are fitting for his way of life and how he's happy to go have fun and make friends, helping others and his family. Perfect song for him to sing when he's practicing on his bass.

the answer is yes but does he want to is the question. he’s technically done all of these before. of all of these, the one he’d want to do the most is take care of a child surprisingly; he’s an introverted-extrovert and he does love how children’s minds work esp if they aren’t fucked up like how his was. helps him relive being a kid (or what could’ve been). he’s not overly attached to plants or animals but he wouldn’t purposefully neglect them

not really no, but it’s not in a negative way it’s just more neutral. he doesn’t place the same value on non sentient things as sentient ones but that doesn’t mean he’s gonna treat it badly ya feel?

Story time 

Today in my politics class our task was to write down stuff we think the state should provide for people and one girl said tampons and other hygienic articles should be provided at public bathrooms.

While every single fucking girl and a few kings with older sisters nodded in agreement, my old (racist) male teacher was like ‘really???? do you think that’s a good idea?’

another boy, who I will call Timmy for this story, was (I’ll try to quote him as best as I can) saying that he could understand that there should be hygienic products in schools and town halls but not in bathrooms at malls because at malls there are adults and they can pay for tampons themselves. The first thing I want to say about this is that I don’t know what Timmy thinks is happening in town halls bc there are adults everywhere and no fifteen year old girls on their period running around, while at malls there are teenagers (mindblowing). Second thing is, that our point isn’t, that only teenagers should get tampons for free or for way less money because they can’t afford it. There are adults too, who can’t afford buying tampons and we need to many tampons in our life time to get them all from public toilets. Those tampons and pads would be for emergencies so we wouldn’t have to do that toilet paper roll.

The next thing Timmy said was, that it wouldn’t be hygienic to just use tampons from public places where everyone is. A this point one of the little kings I mentioned earlier was like ‘uh I’m not super well informed, but I think that every tampon or pad is like packed in plastic. I don’t understand why that would be considered unhygienic.’ and he was one hundred percent right. Also what Timmy tried to say was that hygienic articles aren’t hygienic and it makes no sense to me at least.

The next thing Timmy intoxicated my ears with was, that condoms should be freely available at mens toilets then, because if he wants to have sex with a girl, he has to pay for a condom because he hasn’t experienced a girl buying a ‘female condom’ before. I spoke up at that point cause even my introverted ass couldn’t take it anymore. (most) Sex is consensual which means that you choose to do that and therefore will have to pay for a fucking condom but we don’t choose to menstruate, it is a natural process happening to (more than) half of this worlds population. WE DO NOT CHOOSE TO GET A PERIOD. When I said that, Timmy turned to me and said ‘but if you’d have sex with me I would have to pay for a condom and it isn’t fair’ (at this point I was cringing so bad) Every girl in our class was like wtf and his ex gf spoke up and said that he doesn’t have to have sex and that we do not have any other choice

Then my teacher tried to make a point about trans men and was like yeah but there would have to be tampons in mens bathrooms too and my (female) crush said something like where is the problem with that and then Timmy said that people could steal them and make money and someone replied ‘you could steal the toilet seat too and probably make more money but it would still be illegal’ so there goes that ‘argument’

then our lesson was over and I was just trying to breathe because I have very strong opinions about these type of topics but don’t discuss them with people bc I get the urge to punch them in the face. My friend and I looked up some stuff and got to this point: we get our period about 450 to 500 times in our lifetimes which is about ten years of bleeding and 10000 to 14000 tampons. Using normal ob tampons we spend 1560€ (1617$) to 2340€ (2425$) on tampons, which is a lot of money

later that day my German teacher said that people with anxiety aren’t valid so that was a great day of school
