PORTAL 2 PROMPTS *  assorted dialogue from the 2011 video game, adjust as necessary
when life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade! make life take the lemons back! get mad! i don't want your damn lemons!
best case scenario, you might get some superpowers. worst case, some tumors.
science isn't about why. it's about why not.
the next test is very dangerous.
before the wright brothers invented the airplane, anyone wanting to fly everywhere was required to eat 200 pounds of helium.
to help you remain tranquil in the face of almost certain death, smooth jazz will be deployed in three... two... one.
please disregard any undeserved compliments.
all right, i've been thinking.
what am i supposed to do with these?
do you know who i am?
oh, i like this guy.
he says what we're all thinking.
you can head on back to your desk.
well, this is the part where he kills us.
hello. this is the part where i kill you.
i know you.
no! i'm not listening! i'm not listening!
you're lying!
you're not just a regular moron. you were designed to be a moron.
i am not! a moron!
now who's a moron?
could a moron do that?
i can't see it though. maybe it fell off.
do you want to go and have a quick look?
are you alive? that's important. should have asked that first.
i'm going to work on the assumption that you're still alive.
i'm just going to wait for you up ahead.
i'll wait one hour.
brilliant! go team!
i think we can put our differences behind us.
hi. so. how are you holding up?
good, that's still working.
here are the test results.
you are a horrible person.
i'm serious. that's what it says.
we weren't even testing for that.
don't be alarmed, all right?
good work getting this far.
i wish i could take it all back. i honestly do.
i'm in space.
if i were ever to see her again, do you know what i'd say? i'd say "i'm sorry." sincerely.
i am sorry. i was bossy and monstrous... and i'm genuinely sorry.
you made it through! well done!
okay, follow me. we've still got work to do.
what's happening?
okay... don't move.
so i've got an idea, but it is bloody dangerous. here we go.
they told me that if i ever turned this flashlight on, i would die.
they told me that about everything.
i don't even know why they bother giving me this stuff if they didn't want me to use it.
look at you, soaring through the air like an eagle.
i'm different!
prometheus was punished by the gods for giving the gift of knowledge to man. he was cast to the bowels of the earth and pecked by birds.
it won't be enough. the answer lies beneath us.
oh, it's dark down here, isn't it?
i'm proud of you.
now we are a family again.
that last test was seriously disappointing.
just work with me.
some of my best friends are actually orphans.
you look ugly in that jumpsuit.
that's not my opinion.
i'll be honest. we're throwing science at the wall here to see what sticks.
no idea what it'll do.
i knew someone was alive in here!
you'll know when the test starts.
oh thank god you're all right.
i thought you were my greatest enemy, when all along you were my best friend.
the best solution to a problem is usually the easiest one.
i'll be honest. killing you? is hard.
i had a pretty good life. and then you showed up.
you know what? you win. just go.
it's been fun. don't come back.
this sentence is false.
to be honest, i might have heard that one before.
you know, i'm not stupid.
i realize you don't want to put me back in charge.
i'm being serious. i think there's something really wrong with me.
we should get our stories straight.
no, we're not stopping!
don't make eye contact, whatever you do.
i feel awful about that surprise.
oh, that's sad. but impressive.
we're running out of time.
you've probably figured it out by now, but i don't need you anymore.
i'm afraid you're about to become the immediate past president of the being alive club.
the square root of rope is string.
okay, what you're doing there is jumping.
you know what? that's close enough.
you saved my bacon.
is this a jailbreak?
the next test is very dangerous.
it's been a long time. how have you been?
i've been really busy being dead. you know, after you murdered me.
you out having yourself a little adventure?
no, don't get up. i'll be right back.
you're unqualified!
what if this hurts? what if it really hurts? oh, i didn't think about that.
get your hands off me!
i can't see a thing! what just happened?
i don't have any bullets.
did you feel that?
you were busy back there.
that's funny. i don't feel corrupt.
i've got an idea! do what it says!
look how small you are down there!
do you have any idea how good this feels?
sorry, fellas. she's married. to science.
let me answer those questions with a question. who wants to make sixty dollars?
yes, all right, okay, this is getting tiresome.
well done. good. aren't you little miss clever. little miss smashy smash.
does it actually make you feel good when you do that?
it's not impressive.
what is this, like a hobby for you now?
i'm beginning to actually take it personally.
it's like an insult to me.
oh, there goes another one.
it's vandalism! it's pure vandalism!
it's just us talking like regular people.
are you going to open this door?
where'd you go? come back!

OMG I JUST HAD A THOIGHT. What if like on this fic that you wrote “tulips or roses”, what if Rose and reader met?!?!
PLSPLSPLSPLS MAKE IT ANGSTY TO FLUFF TOO 🙏🙏🙏🙏
AMAZING THOUGHT POOKIE I WAS THINKING THE SAME >_< also i'm on holiday rn visiting family so ofc the wifi decides to the shittiest rn so apologies for slow uploads and errors :( and tags aren't working??? Word Count: 2k
Tulips meets Roses.
It was a Friday evening at the pub, where you sat beside John Price, your arms interlinked with his clenched bicep listening to another one of Johnny's story.
"'n' th' mornin' efter we shagged, she juist vanished! Efter a' th' love we made?"
Ghost grunts in mock sympathy, and Gaz stifles a scoff next to him, "She probably got scared of your haunted puppet collection mate-"
"Oh ye leave Bonnybelle oot o' this-"
These outings weren't as frequent as one would hope, considering how busy the Task Force usually was, but when there was a break with the missions, most of the soldiers found themselves at the hustle and bustle of the local pub, and it made it better when you could bring a plus one.
It's been a few months since the 'argument' about Rose, and even though John likes to name it a 'dispute', he's drilled it into your head how it was his fault completely not yours.
"Yeah well, me and my girl visited Bali for our anniversary-" Kyle boasts to the group.
"Yeah 'n' Simon gaed tae Croydon wi' his grandma, sae whit." [to all my non-londoners, Croydon is THE GHETTO. always in support of croydon slander]
John snickers, and you smile as the feelings of his arms encapsulating you. "You'll find someone one day, Johnny, I know it." You smile sloppily, partially tipsy from all the alcohol consumed and partially from all the sweet talk.
"Aye ah better, a'm wantin' th' Tulip tae mah Price."
Ah, turns out John's been calling you Tulip to everyone.
"She's limited edition, find your own fuckin' flower." John comically dismisses, taking a hefty sip of his beer, bringing you impossibly closer to him.
Your smile at the compliment is cut short when a blonde bob catches your peripheral, and just as you're about to turn your head to catch the face you're looking at-
"Is your garden in bloom?" Simon casually questions.
The table immediately erupts in coughs and laughter, with Gaz side-eyeing Simon's question, and Johnny laughing at the clever Bridgerton reference. John corrects his posture at the comment and covers his cough with his fist, a light tinge of pink painting his pale bearded cheeks. He'll make sure Simon runs double the amount of laps during practice.
"And that's my cue..." You press a warm kiss against John's temples, before heading off to the women's bathroom, not blind to the 'awwws' and coos from Soap, and the "What does it mean? I only watched the sex scenes..." from Simon.
Walking to the women's bathroom, you yawn and stretch your tense back after sitting on the wooden chair at the bar for so long.
"Tired?"
You snort, "An understatement, I'm sleepy as fuck- Oh."
Locking eyes with the voice in the mirror, grounds you back to reality. The once fictitious woman you were most worried about stands next to you in the bathroom, returning your glance through a mirror.
You break the silence, feeling awkward at the tense scene, although you're unsure if she's feeling the same. Does she know who you are? Does she think of you as her replacement?
"Weather's nice." A terrible comment considering it mid November in England; the weather's far from nice, yet Rose chuckles. For a moment, you can see why John longed for this woman, from the way her skin creased around her mouth as she flashed you a grin through the reflection.
"It's nicer in Greece, moved a few years back." She smiles amicably.
You hum, nodding as if in agreement, even though you hadn't even set foot in a Mediterranean country, "When did you come back? To the UK?"
She looks up, recollecting the days, "Hmm, must been a week now, Greece is lovely, but the UK's home, you know?"
Once again you just nod, watching as she pulls out a red Dior lipstick and reapplies to her supple lips. Watching her intensely focus on her lips makes you question John once again, a wave of insecurity rushing through you like that previous time.
She's so much better than me... You think to yourself.
"How's he been then?"
There's a pause in your breath, your eyebrows raising slightly. Rose makes eye contact with you again through the mirror, and you're grateful that she doesn't turn to look at you physically, you're scared that you might pass out in nervousness.
"I- uh, who?" You manage to blurt out, mentally cursing yourself for what you think sounded like a helium-produced high pitched squeak.
Rose chuckles at your response, "John Price. I see the way he looks at you, you been dating him for long?"
You purse your lips into a thin smile, even after years of dating and marriage, any compliment given to the both of you would send your heart to a warm frenzy.
"Been together for 4 years, married for 1..." Your smile in inevitably giddy as you admire the glittering rock plastered on your ring finger. Rose looks at your ring, her smile faltering a little, but you don't notice it in time.
"And you?"
"Me?" She straightens her posture, and even her mannerisms reflect that of your husbands a bit, "A few years of marriage...it's...nice." But it sounds like she's trying to convince herself more so than answering your question.
Your response is again, a shy nod.
Silence evades the conversation as she closes her lipstick delicately, placing it back into her expensive purse. You want to press the conversation further, beg her for more answers about the history that she might have had with John, you wanted to hear it from her perspective.
"I loved him you know."
Oh.
The world stops for a moment, and you feel the slow emergence of bile erupting from within. You're silent for moment, your thoughts halting. What kinda woman just announces that she had feeling for another's man...no, not just feelings...love.
Her reflection in the mirror breaks into small minuscule frames, as your eyes tear up. Not even a breath escapes from your mouth.
A droplet of sweat cascades down your back and you tremble at the thought of John kissing Rose.
"I...of course, realised too late. When we were celebrating my retirement, me and the team, I, uh...I was about to tell him...and I saw his phone screen...didn't know about you then, but it was a picture of you," She giggles at the memory, "Thought you must have been important 'cos that man's had that brick phone for years, and this is the first time I'd seen a different lockscreen."
You don't respond, unsure of whether to scream at her, calling her a homewrecker, or just to let her complete her speech. You realise she had used the past tense, loved. Did she still feel the same?
"And then I followed him back to his office...he was on the phone...to you. And oh my God. I swear I looked through the crack of his door, that guy was literally melting. Caught him twirling the invisible phone line and everything."
You can't suppress the tiny smirk on your face.
"And it was just a mundane conversation, nothing special...and it looked like he would kill the task force, just to have a spec of your attention on him. I've...never seen him this way, not even with me..." She whispers the last part, looking down at the droplets of water on the porcelain sink.
"I'm sorry if I'm intruding, I guess I just came here to get closure-"
"Did you get it?"
The first you've said in minutes, and the tone was so gruff, one would think you were berating her.
She nods, still smiling, and for a second you wonder how strong this woman would have been, flying all the way back, just to see someone she'd harboured feelings with another.
"And even if I hadn't, I wouldn't do anything to either of you...forgive me, I'm not like that."
You nod, intaking some air after what felt like hours. You force yourself to turn your body towards her, a question still stuck in your head, urging to be answered.
"Rose." You whisper. She looks at you with a sweet smile, and for a second you feel bad for even thinking such inhumane thoughts about her.
"Do you still love him?" It was short and curt, no hesitation in your question, which did sound somewhat more like a command.
She looks at her reflection in the mirror, as if assessing her flaws and imperfections. There's another uncomfortable pause in the atmosphere, and it feels like the two of you have sucked a breath in anticipation.
The truth is...she doesn't know. What even is love? Is it measurable? Is it subjective, objective, definite, is it yes or no? Are there layers to love? Can you love two people at the same time? Has she ever felt love?
Does she still love John?
Did she ever love John?
Did John ever love...her?
She thinks back to when she walked into the bar, her eyes searching for the bearded captain, only to see them locked on...you.
Oh the way he looked at you. It reminded her of a loyal dog watching upon his master, like a peasant being granted a sip of golden delicious nectar for the first time. Like the way the moon orbits the Earth indefinitely, following Mother Earth on her orbital path.
Like the way a wounded man would rest in his knees painfully, praying for his Goddess to notice at least one his pleas, as he weeps for her.
It was a look she never gave to him, and one he never gave to her. That look, he had only reserved for ... you.
"No, I suppose not, not the way he loves you." It comes out in a pained whisper, and Rose can't tell if she wanted to go back in time to have John all to herself or if she believes that she would ever experience that kind of connection with him.
You hum, it felt like your voice box was strained every time you responded, but you felt at peace, finally.
How long have been in the bathroom for?
Run along now, John's probably looking for you.
You hug Rose, and you can tell she's not used to physical touch, the way her tall frame freezes at the contact. She smiles to you, silently apologising for her burdensome self.
You leave the bathroom, with a smile bigger than you had ever worn.
Soap's points towards you, at the table, and the others smile, John immediately whisking his head so quickly, you fear he might have pulled a muscle.
"Hey baby," you whisper into his hair, sitting down next to him, with his arm around you, where you belong.
"Jesus, sweetheart, 'was about to go to the bathroom m'self to look for you..." He mumbles, pressing his soft lips against your temple, purposely brushing his beard against your cheek.
You hum, as he presses fluttering kisses against your neck, whispering all kinds of affectionate names, oblivious to the fact that Ghost was already submitting a letter of compliant for excess PDA.
Rose shortly leaves, exiting the pub, her eyes falling on John's blushed cheeks burying into your hair, as she opens the door.
He turns to her, feeling someone looking at her, but instead of freaking out, he just smiles, acknowledging her presence, and quickly shoving his cheek against yours.
Tulips truly were his favourite flowers.

Mafia boyfriend
Warnings: Mentions of violence, guns, canon-typical injuries, mob/mafia typical behaviour
Summary: Your boyfriend isn't exactly how you described him to be.
A/N: I’m trying to get a bunch of writing done before the new academic year, so please do enjoy! This idea was so random but the concept is kinda fun so I thought why not. I know no Italian at all, everything is from google translate so I'm sorry for any inaccuracies. This writing and description is very stereotypical and very wattpad of me, I apologise in advance. 🙏
Tumblr media
"So, are we ever going to meet your mysterious man?" Stella asked you while the four of you sat in the back of the ambulance having your weekly talk about anything and everything.
You laughed at her expecting face, along with the knowing glances Violet and Sylvie had. "He's just a really busy guy, taking over his dad's business takes a lot of time and not all of it is in Chicago so he's going back and forth from here to Italy."
"But he treats you good, right?" Violet asked seriously, wanting nothing more than for you to be with someone good.
"Oh he's amazing." You said whimsically, a soft smile settling on your lips at the thought of your boyfriend of one year that your family had yet to meet. "Hopefully he's back by Friday so you'll see him on Saturday for the barbeque."
"Oh I completely forgot about that." Sylvie frowned, confused as to how she forgot the yearly picnic that always took place. "What time does it start?"
"I have no idea." You shrugged. "I'll just show up whenever I'm ready."
"Wow, so organised." Stella complimented you sarcastically, ducking away from your hand when you were going to smack her.
"In my relationship, Enzo does all the planning." You mumbled with a slight pout as though trying to prove a point but it didn't work
"Mystery man does have a name!"
"Enzo sounds hot."
"Violet!"
*****
"Eeeee! You're here!" Violet squealed in pure joy as she practically sprinted towards you with her arms open, enveloping you in the biggest hug despite seeing you yesterday on shift. "About time, these lot are getting boring."
At her snide but playful comment, Gallo and Ritter started booing her from where she left them behind at their table with a few others from 51 who were drinking beers. You quickly waved at them and made a mental note to go and say hi to them.
"Oh Violet, I have someone I want you to meet." You eagerly smiled and the younger paramedic took note of your eyes sparkling which could only mean one thing.
Violet gasped, her arms dropping to her side as she did so in disbelief that this was finally happening. "Y/N, don't lie to me girl, my gentle heart can't take it."
You shook your head, smiling at the utter joy one of your friends had for a moment that lots of people don't consider that important. "Violet this is my boyfriend Enzo. Enzo, this is one of my best friends Violet."
With her award winning smile, Violet followed your line of sight and her brows rose in shock when she finally met the man you'd been dating for a little over a year now.
There was no doubt about it, he was an extremely attractive man but he was definitely out of his element. Unbeknownst to all of the CFD, the park was littered in bodyguards who had been held back from personally tailing their boss like they usually would.
Shaking off all her negative thoughts, Violet thought the best and held out her hand towards the attractive but intimidating man. "It's lovely to finally meet you after so long Enzo, I'm Violet."
"I've heard plenty of good things about you. It's a wonder we haven't met earlier." His voice was slightly accented, Violet remembered you saying he was Italian. His grip wasn't as hard as she thought and his tone actually softer than he looked, his words making the paramedic laugh.
"We've been nagging Y/N for so long to meet you but she's very convincing." You choked back a laugh at Violet's comment, lightly elbowing her in the gut. "Alright Vi, that's enough. Where's Stella and Sylvie?"
"Over there with Kelly and Matt."
It was comedic really, the sight of you and your boyfriend together was unbelievable. Despite being a firefighter, you were of very short stature and you were practically the embodiment of pure joy but with your boyfriend standing besides you, he was so much taller and wore all black smart ish attire with rings on two of his fingers.
It was like the typical grumpy and sunshine trope that people read about in books but this was real life. Violet almost couldn't believe you bagged yourself a man like him but in a good way.
"Y/N, hey girl!" Stella smiled, waving you over from besides Kelly as soon as she noticed you. Not only did she notice but so did three others that stood with her that a man was accompanying you, someone who was very out of his element. "Stop- is this the infamous Enzo?"
At your dimpled smile, Stella's smile widened as she fully turned to greet your boyfriend she'd been desperate to meet since you mentioned taking his number ages ago.
There was no denying you were ecstatic to be with him but something wasn't adding up and it seemed that she wasn't the only one suspicious.
Things weren't adding up and your family were dammed if they didn't find out what.
*****
Being shot at was nothing you weren't used to living in Chicago all your life. At this point, you'd become accustomed to it and you no longer feared it how you used to when you were a child.
However, it did scare you when in uniform and out on a call.
Following Casey and Severide's orders, everything was organised in an orderly manner but as soon as you re-entered the house to bring out a victim, all the gunfire suddenly stopped.
Initially, everyone was relieved and began calming down but as soon as you exited the house with a woman in tow, gunshots began raining down once again causing everyone to shout in a flurry of panic.
But once again, as soon as you backed up into the house protecting the smoke inhalation victim, all the gunshots stopped.
It was at this moment, it all slowly started to click.
Whispering to the female victim to stay put, you very carefully set one foot outside the house and what do you know, gunshots started popping off.
Eyes wide and chest heaving, you swallowed harshly at the realisation that you were being targeted. You alone and no one else.
"Y/L/N, stay inside, we're coming to you." Casey relayed over the radio, your captains words making it clear to you that he had also connected all the dots.
All you had to do now was wonder why.
Following the shooting, everyone came out unharmed but you. While you were distracted with the smoke inhalation victim, you were caught slacking and got grazed by a bullet.
You'd been hurt much worse before but it was bad enough for Sylvie to warrant a trip to Med where Enzo met you, worry and concern flooding off of him in waves. Not once since your year of being together had you ever seen him so worried about anything.
He brushed off your questions about work, he told you this morning he had an important meeting with some clients but here he was with you.
Unbeknownst to you, a group of Italian men were dutifully waiting for their boss in the waiting room and beyond the hospital doors lay a few cars all inhabited with similar looking men.
Once you fell asleep, Enzo lightly placed a kiss on your forehead before stepping away, gently closing the doors to your room. Walking away, he was lucky not to bump into anyone from the firehouse, going straight towards his brothers who waited for him to speak eagerly.
"It's them. They're targeting my Y/N."
His younger siblings eyes, identical to his, all darkened at his words. They'd grown attached to you over the one year period and they'd be damned if one of the best things to happen to this family was hurt, let alone dragged into business that she was too pure for.
"Come on, we have some work to do."
*****
That incident was over a month ago. You fully healed since then, the trauma of such an incident long forgotten. And you were too oblivious to notice the change in the people around you, especially your boyfriend and his family. Their protectiveness reaching new heights, not that it bothered you though.
Things drastically changed when one day you never showed up to shift. You were very strict on punctuality and Stella mentioned seeing you yesterday morning for some brunch.
It was only when Violet called Enzo, asking if you'd fallen sick and forgotten to call Boden, did they properly start to get worried.
Your boyfriend picked up on the second ring, voice filled with confusion at your best friend calling him, something she's never done before.
Violet explained the situation, Enzo confirming he hadn't seen you since you left early this morning for work.
The tension in his voice was clear as day. So when he said 'I'll deal with it' before hanging up, Violet was left feeling uneasy.
What the hell did he mean?!
Three hours later, Intelligence were rolling up to the firehouse, well only Jay and Hailey.
"We just got a call about Y/N being kidnapped?" Hailey said, confusion laced in her words as she approached the squad table.
The firefighters all looked at her in shock. They were never told anything about a kidnapping.
"What the hell." Cruz whispered as the two detectives explained everything they knew.
"Who knows where she was seen last?" Jay asked, looking at all of 51, everyone joining them outside in concern for you.
"Her boyfriend Enzo." Violet said, brows furrowed as she bit her lip. "I called and asked him around three hours ago now."
"Really?" Jay hummed. "What's his full name?"
"No clue. That's all we really know about him - his name, he's Italian and he's now a CEO after his dad died." Stella replied when Violet remained silent.
"Interesting."
*****
Dropping off a patient at Med, Violet stood besides Sylvie as she filled in some paperwork, bouncing on her feet to pass time when Will appeared in front of them suddenly.
Scaring both paramedics, he apologised with a sheepish smile.
"Hey, you guys never mentioned Y/N being kidnapped?" Before either of them could reply or explain themselves, he carried on. "It doesn't matter now, she's upstairs in a private room."
Both women were too shocked to reply, staring at the doctor mouths agape and eyes wide.
"Y/N's here? At Med?" Sylvie repeated, wanting clarification just in case she was hearing things.
"Yep." Will nodded. "Me and Maggie were treating her, I'm the primary on her case."
"Well then, what are you waiting for?" Violet said impatiently. "Lead the way Halstead."
And lead the way he did, showing them to a floor they barely saw due to their lack of 'rich rich' patients.
In the chairs outside were several men dressed in blacks and greys, all looking very similar to each other, their brown eyes glued to Sylvie and Violet as they neared the room.
Knocking on the door, Will didn't wait for a reply before entering, poking his head inside before opening it fully.
"Sylvie! Violet!" You exclaimed, trying to get up from your laid back position on the bed, wincing from moving too fast.
"Okay, let's not do that." Enzo said at the same time as Will, gently pushing you to lay back down.
"I've put a rush on your test results." Will said, looking at you and your boyfriend. "If I'm not available, I'll send Maggie."
Enzo thanked him while the two paramedics hugged you cautiously.
"Girl, what the hell happened?" Violet asked first, standing by your head with Sylvie standing next to her, opposite to where Enzo was sat.
"I'll be honest, I don't remember much." You admitted, grimacing at the pain in your head when you moved too much. "Pretty sure I was drugged for the most of it."
"I think I was taken like two blocks away from 51." You said confusingly, looking to your right at Enzo in confirmation, turning back when he nodded. "And all I can really remember is being punched and kicked a few times and like, a bunch of men talking about mob revenge stuff."
"Honestly, I don't even know or remember what they were talking about - I was so out of it."
You licked your chapped lips at which Enzo instantly held a cup of water in front of you, directing the straw for you to drink.
Humming appreciatingly, you smiled at him, dimples and squinted eyes and all before turning back to 2 of 3 of your girls.
"I was so out of it that when I first saw Enzo, I struggled to even recognise him, innit baby?"
Enzo just hummed, his one hand encompassing both of yours, his calloused fingers softly rubbing your knuckles.
"Where was she?" Violet asked, mustering up the courage to ask. "How- Where did you find her?"
Enzo finally took his eyes off you, eyes cold as he looked at your best friend. "I have a really good friend - we grew up together - whose a detective."
"I just asked for a favour." Enzo lied masterfully, having a lifetime full of experience.
The two paramedics, while quite suspicious, remained oblivious to what he was covering up.
"Fratello." A voice from the door interrupted them, all yours heads turning to one of Enzo's younger brothers. Brother
"Sono stati affrontati. Ale and Carlo assicurati che facesse male."
they have been dealt with. Ale and Carlo made sure it hurt.
"Bene." Enzo nodded, smiling at his younger brother. "You guys can go home now." good
His brother rolled his eyes, scoffing when he replied, "You're very silly Enzo, why would we go anywhere?" He said rhetorically before looking at you.
"You look much better cognata!" He smiled, brightening up his face and looking much less scarier than he just was. "All you need now is some good food and you'll be as good as new." Sister-in-law
You giggled, stifling a groan from the pain it caused in your ribs. "Thank you Luca. I expect to go home to your cooking."
He laughed, winking before he left, nodding at his brother who shooed him away.
Before anyone could say anything, the radios around their torsos went off, the familiar voice of Matt asking for their whereabouts causing them to frown.
"We should probably get back to work. We're still on shift for another fifteen hours." Sylvie said, the sadness clear in her face at the prospect of leaving you for so long.
"Yes yes. Go back and save the city on my behalf." You removed one hand from Enzo's, holding it out for both of them to take. "Say hi to everyone for me. Tell em I'll be back to working soon-"
"Ah- no you won't." Enzo stopped you before you could continue, chastising you with a smile but firm in his words. "You need to recover first. Only when you're fully healed can you go back to putting out fires, yes?"
"Exactly!" Violet agreed. "We're all on the same page, perfect."
"We'll come back and see you again after shift." Violet said as the two of them got up to leave. "Don't move an inch."
"Promise." You smiled, thanking them profusely for visiting. "Give everyone my love."
Closing the door behind them, the waiting room remained full of the same men, who now that they were looking properly, looked eerily similar to Enzo.
Making their way to the elevators, Sylvie broke the silence. "I don't- I don't think he asked a friend for a favour."
"Did you see the gun his brother had?"
...
"I did."

Tumblr media
cw — nothing really
a/n — this is my new fic that you can find here on wattpad! please go read and vote and let me know how you like it. i’ll be updating very frequently!
do not copy or post my work anywhere else.
leaning into his side, he tugged her a little closer with the arm that wrapped around her waist while the other that was holding her hand traced little figures on her skin with his thumb. she pulled the blanket over them a little more to keep them warm in the darkness of her room.
they sat in a comfortable silence as the movie in front of them played. the only thing she could really hear was the sound of his heartbeat in the ear that was pressed to his chest, yet she didn't mind. she actually enjoyed the soothing sound.
he was barely paying attention to whatever was playing. he could only focus on the soft weight of her head on him and the intoxicating smell of her shampoo. he wasn't sure where they were in their friendship, whether they were still just friends or more, but he didn't really care either.
unbeknownst to him, it bothered her much more. she hated not knowing what they called this little thing they had. she wanted nothing more than to just be with him. the amount of time they'd spent together have given her enough to gather a crush on him. whether it was surface level or much deeper, she wanted to explore that. she just wasn't sure what he wanted.
"y'smell good love," bjorn mumbled with a much more coarse voice than usual, breaking her out of her thoughts as the hand on her waist rubbed up and down slowly.
she could feel the heat rise to her cheeks as she cuddled deeper into him. "thank you,"  she replied gratefully. "tried somethin' new."
he nodded even though she couldn't see him. "i like it. suits you," he said before pressing a soft kiss to the top of her head.
a smile took over her lips immediately as she tried to catch onto what was happening in the movie on the screen. "wait, why'd he do that?" she asked curiously when the main character shut the trap door on his partner.
"'m not sure. can't focus with you so close," he admitted honestly. he'd always been a natural flirt, though sometimes it teetered between flattering and mean teasing. it rolled off his tongue so easily.
she tilted her head up to look at him, the dim glow of the tv illuminating her features and the soft blush in her cheeks. "bjorn," she said, trying to sound serious but unable to contain her smile.
he licked his lips and squeezed her hand a little tighter. "what? have i made you blush?" he asked teasingly with a big toothy grin. she rolled her eyes playfully and turned in his grip, letting go of his hand and laying on her side. "oh c'mon, darling. don't be like that."
he followed her actions and pressed his body behind hers, wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her body flush to his. "you're lucky you're warm or i'd have kicked you out by now," she mumbled even though her threat had no real bite to her.
he smacked his lips and chuckled to himself, his breath tickling her neck. "you enjoy my company too much to do such a thing," he whispered in her ear confidently.
"yeah? you want to bet on that?" she challenged before rolling back over to face him on her other side now.
he smiled softly and shook his head. "no, you know you'll always win, love," he said. a nice silence filled the air, despite the low volume of the tv ahead of them. it was comfortable and calming, just laying in the poorly lit room gazing into each others eyes. "my girl.. so beautiful," he complimented in a hushed voice.
it was things like that that confused her. he'd say 'my girl' but the moment she questioned what they were, he'd change the subject if allowed. he avoided the conversation like the plague. but she was desperate for answers.
hesitantly, she began. "bjorn?" she asked, voice barely above a whisper. she knew she'd more than likely get shut down once more but she was still willing to try. "can we please talk?"
she visibly watched his body tense. "love, i don't think this is a—"
she interrupted him before he could continue and shut her down. "please, bjorn. you've pushed it off long enough and i just want to know. that's all. if you want nothing more than a friendship then please, just tell me that. i just want to figure this out," she said as he voice began to wave with sadness. he took a deep breath before nodding hesitantly. she smiled gratefully. "thank you. i'll be right back, i just need to use the restroom."
aurora carefully crawled out of her bed and made her way to her bathroom. she didn't really need to go, she just needed a minute to prepare. she glanced at herself in the mirror and smoothed her hair down a bit then washed her hands. she sat on the edge of the tub for a minute or two, deciding on what to say before assuming she was ready.
she opened up the door, only to find her bed now empty. that would be the last time the two had ever shared a moment alone. they never really even crossed paths anymore.

The lust in his eyes was very noticeable by anyone who tried hard enough to see it.
Keigo was not even trying to hide it either. His sexiness was overbearing and you could feel it from across the room.
"He's looking over here again.." Your friend says unaware of the relationship between you and Keigo. You'd tell her, but because of your jobs it's hard to go public. He's a pro-hero and a double agent while you're an underground hero. The media would go crazy if they knew about you two. There would be a mixture of shock, anger, maybe even respect, but the Hero Commission has advised against going public... strongly.
"Really?" You ask and take a sip of whatever your friend has ordered you. Honestly your attention was lost long ago. Keigo has kept your attention all night.
As an underground hero you'd usually avoid huge social gatherings like these but Keigo convinced you to go. Popular heroes like Endeavor, Best Jeanist, and even Mirko were standing around posing, being interviewed, talking to other heroes, etc. Keigo had noticed your discomfort right away, so being as cheeky as he is he texted you to meet him in a secluded area ten minutes after he walked over there.
When you went over to him the blond started complimenting you. He talked about how pretty you look in your dress, he praised you for doing your hair and makeup, and so on. That was about two hours ago...
"Yeah, I think he wants to fuck you because if those aren't bedroom eyes then I don't know what is." She squeals and wiggles her brows at you.
A real smile invaded your face for maybe the 3rd time tonight. You were being uptight because of the Commission's words. Even though this is a private event, you didn't want to risk it. Keigo clearly didn't care (not surprising at all) because he was openly flirting with you.
You were pulled out of your thoughts by a tap on your shoulder. "May I have a dance with you, beautiful?" Some hero you couldn't bother to remember asks you. Several men and women had already asked something similar which you had kindly turned down.
"I'm good than-" A cheeky arm wrapped around your waist and you began to panic.
"What business do you have with my wife?" Keigo questions and you about have a heart attack.
"Hawks?! Wife... oh my- I'm so sorry. I didn't know." The hero scurries off and you glare at your husband.
You couldn't even get a word in because your friend yells in shock and excitement, "you're married?! To Hawks?!" You hold a finger to your lips and your eyes widen. Its no use though because people are already looking at you and Keigo, whispering things you can't hear.
In seconds there's a TV crew in your face.
"Number two pro hero, Hawks has been secretly married. What is it like being his wife?" Some lady with a mic asks.
Some other guy asks, "How long have you two been married?"
If you were overwhelmed before than you're extremely overwhelmed now.
Your friend looks at you a frown on her face as she tries to apologize for bringing attention over to you two.
Keigo scoops you up bridal style, and flies out of an open window, "Adios, paparazzi~" he says.
When you two get far enough away he lands and sets you down, "darling... i'm so sorry. I just had enough, you were hit on like eight times and it made my stomach drop." He says softly.
You glare at him, "that's no excuse Keigo! I am your wife. Which means I married you, which means I'm not going to be swayed by some random hero asking me out! Do you have any trust in me?!" You shout at him, anger seeping through your tone.
"It's not you baby, its me.. I fear you'll find someone better suited for you..." his voice is small as he speaks.
"Keigo Takami. How long have we been together for?" you ask sternly.
His golden eyes meet yours, "three years."
"Not married, how long have we been together in general?" you ask clearing up your question.
"Oh.. forever." He says with a weak smile.
"Exactly, which means I have no reason to leave you!" A sigh escapes your lips.
You gesture for him to come closer, he does. You cup his face and kiss him softly.
You can tell he wants more from the way he squeezes your hips but you pull back with a lazy smirk.
"You are going to get a fucking earful from the Commission." you say with a dry chuckle.
He pales at your statement.
"Oh shit... they're gonna skin me alive..." he groans.
"Should have thought about that before basically telling all of Japan I'm yours." You say with a shrug.
He scoops you up bridal style again and flies you two home.
"It was totally worth it though." He smirks.
You roll your eyes at him, your husband is something else.

SHANNON!! You know how much I love the Silver Bullets girls, so I freaked when I saw you posted this!! You also know I love angst (who doesn't, right?). So, could I possibly get Bucky x Kennedy with the prompt, "Hands off!" OR "You'll back off if you know what's good for you."
I couldn't choose which one I liked more lol!! Protective Bucky is my absolute FAV! I know it is going to be amazing!! Thank youuuu!💕🫶
MADS!!!!! HELLO MY FRIEND!!!! so lovely to see you both in the inbox and sending in this duo and prompt! :D i saw it and was immediately like - mads you are a GEM - because protective bucky IS the absolute best!!!! THANK YOU FOR THE SILVER BULLETS LOVE!!! they're my girls and are a joy to write so truly thank you :) your love and support has meant so so much!! i DO know you are an angst lover too hehe, so i decided to take a look at the earlier days of kennedy x bucky knowing one another (with extended cameos from judy and paulina - paulina who i wanted to work with more since i have written a lot of her yet), and dealing with...a rather precarious moment in which bucky is VERY MUCH being protective over the SB girls (with hints of kennedy x bucky of course because that's what makes the world go 'round). i went with the second prompt because i just couldn't help myself with that prompt - it's just too good!!! so please enjoy!!! <333333
far less losses
Tumblr media
(a/n): you remember when judy mentioned that john egan has an 'awful soft spot for the Silver Bullets crew'? well....here we are, with bucky showing off that soft spot (which also equates to his soft spot for a certain kennedy farley) all on display. SO -- please enjoy kennedy, judy and paulina, with a bit of bucky being well....bucky haha! please enjoy and thank you again! <3
"I think it's cute!" Judy exclaimed with a smile from beside Kennedy in the mirror in the bunk room the Silver Bullets girls were camped out in, "Truly, Kenny, just even taking those few extra minutes to pull a few pieces of hair away from your beautiful face always makes you feel better."
Judy was right - and she usually was.
After a rather depleting mission that morning, Kennedy had been feeling like laying down and staring at the ceiling for the rest of the evening was her ultimate goal, but Judy Rybinski had found her and convinced her to pull on her Class-A's and take an hour or two to destress in the local pub.
Kennedy shifted herself side to side in the mirror, her thick ginger hair that was usually pulled back from her face in a poor-looking ponytail or hastily put-together braids, appreciating the extra minute Judy had taken in telling her to leave her hair down and clip up some stray pieces behind the lower part of the crown of her head.
"This looks nice." Kennedy said, her voice sounding strange at the sight of seeing herself actually looking quite pretty. Usually covered in grease, dirt and other substances that she didn't even want to know of, seeing her face so bright and clean, her brown eyes light and alive, made her smile a bit.
"You look so pretty, Kenny," Judy said from beside her in the mirror, glancing up at her with the most genuine look on her face, "seriously, you could walk in any pub in England and they'd think that it's Rita Hayworth." Kennedy couldn't help but grin at Judy's words as she took in all angles she could.
"Oh, c'mon, Judy," Kennedy said, glancing down at the ball gunner, "you could do much of the same and they'd think it's Ingrid Bergman."
"That's mighty kind of you Kenny," Judy said with a chuckle, her face glowing, "Ingrid is quite the star, isn't she? Top compliments from Kenny Farley herself."
"What can I say? I'm a miracle worker at the best of times." Kennedy said and Judy laughed again, before looking up to Kennedy softly.
"Let's go get some drinks." Judy said, "Forget about whatever the hell today was, right?"
The walk across base with the sun nearly set was quite peaceful, especially in the summer months - it almost felt like home in some weird way.
Growing up with both older and younger siblings - all brothers - she'd spent enough of her summer days outside from dawn to dusk, drinking her mother's fresh-made lemonade, peeling oranges and eating cheese sandwiches, catching frogs, playing in the streets, making a fair attempt at a ball game where she was usually one of the only girls (having brothers made you automatically a part of the line-up, even if you struck out 90% of the time, she got better though).
She'd come inside, sweating, covered in dirt and grass, with her freckles on full display and her mother would tell her to go and get herself cleaned up for dinner. And everything would smell like fresh lavender soap and soft linen, and dinner would be roasted chicken, carrots, potatoes, asparagus, all the fixings, more lemonade, cookies for desert. Her mother would have to make multiple batches just to feed all her hungry kids.
And her dad would come back from work and be cracking jokes, telling them stories from work, what he had done that day. Something about summer, at home, in Boston.
My how the times had changed from then to now.
The local town pub was a place she'd been a few times, but each time it was much of the same when she got in. It was in fact like entering a whole different world that was separated from both summer and Thorpe Abbotts.
Everything smelled like beer and smoke, there was also music playing, people dancing and without a doubt, every corner you turned, you were shaking hands with someone, introducing yourself and saying your hellos. A home away from home. And it was quite the eclectic mix - USAAF and RAF pilots and crew members all together, local town people, Land Girls. Enough of a comfort though so you could enjoy your drink and meet a new face or two.
"Pretty crowded." Judy said from beside her as they stepped inside and took their ganders around, "Never seen so many people shoved in one place."
"One too many bad missions seems to send everybody here, I won't lie, Judy." Kennedy said, reaching up to tuck some hair back over her shoulder, and letting her eyes glance around again.
"Look who decided to show up." Judy and Kennedy looked up to see Paulina, resident radio op, coming towards them, her long, dark hair elegantly curled, her red lipstick making an appearance again that reminded Kennedy starkly of their training days where Paulina was always going on about the importance of always carrying a tube of lipstick where she went. She always said that you'd never know who'd you see - Christ, Cary Grant could show up and you'll be thanking yourself for that damn tube of lipstick!
"Thought you were staying in?" Kennedy shrugged.
"Judy dragged me out. Promised to pay for a drink."
"Hey!" Judy said looking to Kennedy and teasingly shoving at her shoulder, "I didn't say a thing about paying! I told ya that you needed to get out. Destress. Ya know?" Paulina snickered and glanced to Kennedy who smirked.
"And…I didn't drag you out. I was just convincing enough to get you outta that bunk room." Judy said, "It's a good trait to have, isn't it, Pauli?"
"That's right," Paulina said, stepping forward to wrap an arm around Judy's shoulders, "let's get you two some drinks, alright? And….just so you know, Lieutenant Bradshaw offered to open a tab, so….go crazy, I don't know….I guess she could see plenty of the looks on our faces."
"She's a sweetheart." Judy said with a smile.
"She always knows," Kennedy said quietly as they moved towards the bar, "she's good like that. Reminds me of Birdie."
"She always reminds me of Birdie." Paulina said with a sad smile, "Maybe it's a sign from Birdie up above. Letting us get ourselves Annie Bradshaw as our pilot. You know?"
"I take any sorta stuff like that as a sign," Judy said as they approached the bar and called for three beers, "there's no one like Birdie, but there sure as hell isn't a soul like Annie Bradshaw."
"You ever think about what might've happened if Birdie hadn't gotten hit?" Paulina asked as the tender brought their beers and gave them a smile - Paulina took a long, hard sip before sighing, "Just….things would be so different, but we woulda never met Annie. I don't fucking know, it's weird to think about sometimes."
Kennedy and Judy exchanged quiet glances, but it wasn't like Paulina was lying. Sometimes it was weird to ponder a thing like that - if Birdie had never died and they had never met Annie. And then in moments like this, Kennedy always though that life worked to do things in ways that were always meant to be and clearly what had happened was meant to be, despite the circumstances.
And Annie Bradshaw was always meant to be Silver Bullets' command pilot in place of Birdie Faulkner.
That was one thing for sure.
"Good evening." All three of their heads turned to find one of the RAF pilots they'd seen hanging around in the weeks previous coming towards them, his eyes catching Kennedy's in a way that made her slowly shift her gaze away and sip at her drink again. She sighed. Paulina rolled her eyes.
"Evening." Paulina said slowly, lifting her mug of beer towards him before sipping it and growing quiet. Judy glanced at Kennedy, who gave her a quiet look.
Many of the men that were outside the 100th were usually nice and cordial to them. There'd been some off-handed, unneeded comments before about women in aviation, but they'd heard enough of it to ignore any sort of comment like that. They'd heard it all. For months. Some for years. Ignorance was bliss.
"You three wouldn't happen to be part of the lady crew in the 100th would you?" he asked them, sipping his beer slowly and meeting all their gazes, "I've just had quite the conversation with your Annie Bradshaw if you are. Sweet girl."
"It's Lieutenant." Kennedy offered his way, meeting his gaze again, "She's our pilot."
"Ah," the RAF - Kennedy thought he was a pilot it seemed - pilot said, with a nod, "very sweet girl." Paulina shifted beside Kennedy and sighed.
"Command pilot." Paulina muttered under her breath.
"Anything else?" Judy asked, almost sweetly, but slightly like she were undercutting his words in a way where she wanted to try and disperse the interaction as quickly as possible, "We've had a long day." The RAF pilot glanced at her and smiled, before glancing at Kennedy and Paulina.
"Long day? What ever was the matter?" he asked them and then chuckled slightly and sipped his beer again, "Right - you fly during the day, am I correct?"
"Here we fucking go," Paulina said, pushing back from the bar table, looking ready to start swinging, but Kennedy held her arm and looked to the RAF pilot again, "I swear to God, Kenny."
"We do." Kennedy said, "Why? Is there a problem with that?" The RAF pilot chuckled.
"No, no, not at all. Just curious." Kennedy leaned forward and raised a brow.
"Curious. Curious, curious, curious - what are we curious about it. We've been doing it ever since we came across the fucking pond-"
"What we're trying to say," Judy said interrupting her and giving both Kennedy and Paulina a look, "that's just what we do. We do days, you do nights. Either way, we're pounding the Germans day and night and you should be really thankful for that. You do what you all do, and we do what we do. And it works."
"You'd have far less losses." he offered, in a way that sounded condescending - it made Kennedy's skin crawl.
Far less losses.
Birdie.
Birdie invaded her mind like she always did.
"Listen, we just finished a really crappy mission," Kennedy said, leaning forward and gently wrapping an arm over Judy's shoulders and pulling her closer back from the RAF pilot, "we can pick up this conversation another time."
"Apologies, apologies," the RAF pilot said, holding up his hands in a pitiful, mock-defense, "I'm only commenting on such happenings. Nothing more."
"Commenting-" Kennedy started, but another voice entered her ears.
"Evening."
"Major." the RAF pilot said, suddenly straightening up, sticking out his hand to shake, and his eyes turning glossy, that earlier determination and confidence dwindling.
Kennedy slowly looked back over her shoulder and watched as Major Egan, the smell of beer and cologne wafting off of him, came to a stop beside the three of them there, looking towards the RAF pilot with a face that was the closest to stone-cold that there could be. And Major Egan was not the best at schooling his emotions and concealing what he was actually feeling, but he was doing a pretty damn good job right now.
"What are we talking about?" Major Egan asked, his voice deeper than Kennedy had heard it before, as he crossed his arms and straightened his back, looking directly at the RAF pilot, "Go on, don't mind me."
"Uh, well-"
"Just about our missions," Judy butted in sweetly, looking up at Major Egan, "sir, we were just discussing our….rather interesting differences. But that we bomb the Germans all the same."
"Really?" Major Egan said, almost sarcastically, his smile wide on his cheeks, his voice a crack higher, his tone one that he always had when he was trying to hide his annoyance, "Thank you for that Rybinski, really valuable information." Major Egan looked at the RAF pilot. "You should've just come and talked right with me. These ladies have had a long day. Up at 0300 and still making it out here. They don't wanna have to discuss anything with missions and all. You should know." The group fell quiet as the RAF pilot rather loudly and quite nervously slurped at his beer.
"I just knew they were apart of the lady crew. With Annie Bradshaw-"
"Lieutenant Bradshaw-" Major Egan offered.
"-and I just figured I'd have a chat with them. Never did do much talking about missions with a lady crew before."
"Oh and it's bound to be your last-" Major Egan commented.
"Sir-" Kennedy said looking to him and giving him a look as he met her gaze. Something in his eye told her that he was going to stop until this RAF pilot walked away and she was almost too tired to care if he did say something more or not.
"What's all this about a lady crew, too?" Major Egan said, "They're another one of our crews in the 100th. Did all the same training we did, same shit." Major Egan chuckled. "You wouldn't know that because you were here, what? Drinking warm beer and complaining about the sun-shining, huh? Upset it wasn't nighttime-"
"Major." Paulina said looking up at him, "Just ignore him, we were going to go find Lieutenant Bradshaw anyway."
"Nah, nah," Major Egan said, stepping forward, closer to the RAF pilot this time - the height difference was palpable, with the RAF pilot looking upwards and Major Egan looking downwards, like some sort of quiet conversation being exchanging between the two, "gotta name?"
"Uh, Langley, sir-"
"Langley." Major Egan said, with a funny tone to his voice that was clearly making fun of the way the RAF pilot had said it, "Where the hell you from, Langley?"
"Birmingham. Sir."
"Oh, you're gonna start calling me sir, now, huh?" Major Egan said glancing back at the group of the three of them and grinning that sarcastic, shit-eating grin and pointing over his shoulder, "He called me sir, what a fucking character." Major Egan turned back to the RAF pilot and let his face grow cold.
"The crew is Silver Bullets and they're apart of the 100th just like myself," Major Egan said, "and they've had a long day. All of us have, got it? So, you'll back off if you know what's good for you. And leave these ladies alone and run along to you and your British friends, alright? Get yourself some warm beer, too."
"It's not really super warm-"
"You drink warm fucking beer." Major Egan said with a look, hands on his hips this time, "Go on."
Slowly Kennedy glanced back at the RAF pilot and watched as his brain seemed to rewire, licking his lips quickly as he did so, before retreating like a dog with its tail between its legs. The three of them watched as Major Egan watched the RAF pilot turn to leave, ducking out of the pub with the beer in his hand. Major Egan turned to them, a grin on his face, clearly satisfied with the words that had left his lips and then met her gaze.
"What a guy," Major Egan said, as Kennedy held his gaze, her cheeks heating slightly as she looked back to her beer sat, the glass practically melting on the beer and sighed, "these RAF pilots got a set to be saying stuff like that to you all."
"He said he talked to Lieutenant Bradshaw, sir," Judy said looking up to Major Egan who leaned up the bar beside her, "called her a sweet girl and all. He couldn't even seem to fathom the idea of Annie flying planes." Judy chuckled and looked to Major Egan again. "He probably would've fainted on the spot to hear that we actually are pretty efficient as an all-female bombing crew." Major Egan chuckled at her words and raised a hand for a beer.
"Got that right, Rybinski." Major Egan said with a smile Judy's way before looking to Kennedy and Paulina, "Everyone doing okay after today?"
One thing Kennedy always appreciated with their leaders was that they recognized the toll missions like that took on people - whether if they showed it on their faces or not, their eyes always spoke in ways they couldn't. And he could see that, that much was true.
"I have a cold beer in my hand, sir," Paulina said with a smile, "that's enough to be thankful for after today I must admit." Major Egan let the corner of his lip poke upwards and glanced at Kennedy.
"Farley." Major Egan said, his voice a drip softer than it had been when he'd first come over, "You're quiet."
"And when Kenny Farley's quiet," Judy said with a small smile, "you know the mission today was beating us more than helping us, sir." Major Egan looked to Judy with a saddened smile on his face before looking back at Kennedy.
"Just thinking about something that pilot said, sir," Kennedy said, looking to Paulina and Judy before looking back to him again, lacing and unlacing her fingers over and over again in a nervous way, "reminded me of Birdie." The group of four grew quiet at her words.
"Just when he was going on, sir, about flying night missions," Kennedy said with a nod, "something like we'd have far less losses than if we flew at night. And it just….I don't know, shit like that bothers me. Because he clearly knew about our crew sir, which meant he oughta have heard about Birdie." Major Egan's eyes shifted to hers again, before he glanced back over his shoulder towards the doorway, shuddering his shoulders and letting out a disgruntled groan. He reached forward to take a long sip of his beer and then stood up from the bar and looked to them.
"Come find me if another one of these smucks has another fucking comment," Major Egan said, reaching up to run a hand through his dark curls on his head, before offering a smile, "no one makes comments about the Silver Bullets crew without me hearing about it, alright?" Then he turned and Kennedy couldn't help but step forward and wrap her hand around his upper arm and look up at him.
"Don't do anything stupid, sir," Kennedy said, looking up at him knowingly, "you can have your thoughts about Silver Bullets and our crew, but other people don't like the looks of a woman in the service, nor a whole bombing crew. Don't go getting yourself into more trouble than is needed, sir, alright?"
"Farley," Major Egan said, reaching up to rest a hand on her shoulder, "I've already made enough comments towards them, about them, for them to build a bridge to the States and back. Defending you all ain't much trouble." Kennedy stared at him and fell quiet. "Look, I just got a few choice words for him. That's all."
"Those choice words better involve, don't say that sorta shit like that again and then a firm goodbye and no more, sir," Kennedy said looking at him, "you don't need that face sporting anymore black eyes."
"You think I got a pretty face, Farley?" Major Egan said, looking sideways at her with that award-winning grin again, pearly whites shiny and bright, his eyes squinty, his gaze on her. Kennedy stared at him, the tops of her cheeks turning red as she suddenly felt herself stand quite still, "Go back and enjoy a drink with Stagliano and Rybinski without someone like him hanging over you. Don't worry about me." Kennedy watched him and then slowly nodded.
"Thanks for that back there by the way, sir," she said, quicker than she wanted, her eyes holding his, "it was a long day, with the mission and all. We just wanted a night out without thinking about it, sir, ya know?" Major Egan smiled and bumped her shoulder.
"Think of it as free entertainment." Major Egan said with a grin, before nodding towards the door, "Now, if you don't mind, I'm going to head out for a bit. Enjoy your beer." He quirked out a grin. "You should wear your hair like that more often." And with that, he was stepping away, running his hand through his own hair and stepping outside the pub again. Kennedy watched him go, her cheeks flaming red - the fact he had noticed her hair was enough for her to swallow it down and forget about it. She turned and slid back to the bar, in between Paulina and Judy.
"What'd he say?" Paulina asked, bumping her shoulder, "Looked pretty damn happy about telling that guy off."
"I think he's probably gonna take a punch to the face, but he's going to go send the message home it seems." Kennedy said quietly as Judy giggled, "What?"
"The look on his face when he saw you weren't the happiest camper, oh Kennedy, it was real sweet." Judy said as Kennedy sipped her beer and ignored the swirl in her stomach and crimson on her cheeks, "He's just sweet on us, you know that. They all are. They'd defend us tooth and nail any day."
"See," Paulina said, leaning towards Kennedy and dropping her voice so only Kennedy and Judy could here, "could've put on that tube of red lipstick even just for him."
"Pauli!" Kennedy admonished and Judy giggled.
"You ain't ever gonna forget it, Kenny, never!"

The Night Shift.
chapter 2.
Johnnie Guilbert x Fem!Reader.
Repetitive.
It was all so fucking Repetitive.
So fucking repetitive. 5 hours of taking orders and making them. Tonight made me want to curl up in someone's arms and cry. But I didn't have anyone waiting for me at my tiny apartment. I had never even had a boyfriend before. My parents were so insistent that I find a beautiful, tall, blonde boy who plays football. I had never found that.
Repetitive. The ringing of the bell on the door snapped me out of my thoughts. i didn't bother brightening my expression, assuming it was just another drunk.
"What can I get for you?" I asked in a monotone voice, not looking up from the register.
"Y/n?" a familiar voice called. "You okay?" I looked up, my eyes meeting Johnnie's.
"Oh, hey. Sorry, it's been a long night. Seeing you is the first good thing that has happened to me tonight."
"Do you wanna sit down and talk about it?" He offered.
A small smile grew on my face. "why not? let me take your order first."
"Can I try a large vanilla coffee? Iced, please." His tone was calm and sweet, and he seemed less tired than he did last night.
He began to take out his wallet. "This one's on me." I commented. "Any updates about your ex?"
"I haven't heard much from her, and that makes me paranoid." he replied. "let me pay, Y/n. it's your paycheck."
I rolled my eyes. "You got me a donut last night, it's the least I can do." I smiled as he threw up his hands in defeat. "maybe she got bored."
"I hope so." he sighed, leaning over the counter has he did last night. "Do you have any crazy exes?"
My face flushed. "I've never dated anyone."
His eyes widened. "That's shocking, you're really pretty. Sorry if that offended you or something."
I shook my head, my face as red as a beet. He was very attractive himself, so the compliment caught me off guard. I had no idea what to say. "Thank you, uh, you're attractive yourself." i stuttered, muttering out the first thing that came to mind.
a small blush spread across his face as he smiled with his teeth. "what's stopped you from having a boyfriend?" he asked as I brought his coffee, as well as one I made for myself, to the nearest table. he sat across from me.
"My parents want me to have the perfect guy. Blonde, football, blue eyes, you know." i stopped and looked at him, seeing a dissapointed look on his face. "But that's not what I want. So I guess I've just been waiting for someone to come to me."
His facial muscles rested. "cool." he replied, taking a sip of his coffee. "this is really fucking good."
I laughed. "did it catch you off guard? I can't believe you, johnnie. I don't make shitty coffee." I teased.
he immediately shook his head. "no, I just usually don't like coffee."
I made an 'ah' sound and took a sip of my own.
"There's a new year's party this weekend, me and my best friend are going. You should go." he smiled. "Me and Jake can give you a ride and everything."
"hmm. I can try, but I don't see why I wouldn't be able to go. I've never been to a party."
"Oh Jesus. Have you ever drank?"
"Thats like asking if I breathe air." I rolled my eyes. "why 'oh jesus?'" I questioned in a mocking tone.
"New years parties are always fucking insane, in my opinion. I'm always reeking of some sort of alcohol even if I don't drink." he scrunched his nose slightly, as if he could smell it already.
"sounds like my type of event." I smirked, taking another drink.
He smiled with his teeth. "So you'll go?" he said excitedly.
"of course." I smiled. "it'd be nice to get out of the house."
"Tell me more about your family." He replied, intertwining his fingers.
"Well, my grandparents spent their whole lives saving up to buy this cafe." I began, mimicking my parents voices. "and, in their will, they passed it down to my mom and dad. I've been spending majority of my time in this building for as long as I can remember."
"are you a peoples person?" Johnnie asked me.
"like, am I good with people and like to be around them?" he nodded. "I guess so, but I like being alone, too. like, if I'm alone too long I get tired or if I'm with people for too long I get tired. I don't know, it's weird."
"understandable." Johnnie acknowledged.
"what about you?"
"I'm just like you. But I lean more towards being with, like, two people than being alone or in a big group." he explained, waving his hand around.
I nodded in agreement. Maybe it was a bad idea to go to this party, but I had little to lose.
"Can I get your number?" He asked me. I quickly wrote it down on a napkin.
my heart fluttered. I gave a guy my number. I wasn't expecting anything to come from me and johnnie, though.

Camp Justice - Chapter 3: The First Day Part 2
Tumblr media
"Hello there my name is- What are you doing here?!?!?"
The individual in question looked at Cal surprised by the sudden outburst though it was soon replaced with a smug look.
"What am I doing here? What are you doing here? I thought the losers stayed in a different cabin?"
"Who are you calling a loser you two-timing traitor?"
"Traitor?!?! What did I even do?"
Cal scoffed, "You really need me to spell it out for you don't you? But then again I expected nothing less from someone who has the memory of a goldfish!"
"You're one to talk, remember what you did last year at that party?"
Cal's face grew two shades darker at just the mere thought of the memory, "We don't talk about that."
The girl briefly pondered in thought while tapping her chin, "Hmm… I think we will."
"You say one word about it and I'll-"
"You'll what, hm?", the girl said as she crossed her arms and stepped closer to Cal.
Their argument attracted the attention of everyone passing by their cabin. None bothered to intervene figuring it was just a minor girl fight. However, a certain green-skinned camper was worried her roommates were going to off each other before the welcoming ceremony even began.
She ran into the cabin determined to dissolve the argument. When she got there she saw the two were standing in each other's faces. Any normal person who saw it would assume they were about to get into it however she was confused when she saw that there was no hostility present in their stances. And grew even more confused when she noticed the friendly smirks on their face.
"It's nice to see you again Maria, How long it's been? Two weeks?" Cal said as she went in for a hug.
"Two weeks too long"
M'gann, aka Miss Martian, stood there with her mouth agape, "Wh-wha-what's going on?"
Cal turned to look at her, "Oh! M'gann, when did you get here? Is this your cabin too?"
M'gann was still rather speechless but nodded her head to respond to the question.
"Sweet! Now if you guys will excuse I need to finish get ready. I don't need a certain vigilante lecturing me about punctuality."
Maria then turned to M'gann with a beaming smile.
"I don't believe we met, I'm Maria, Cal's cousin," she said as she stuck her hand out.
M'gann returned the handshake, "I'm Miss Martian but you can call me M'gann."
"Miss Martian? As in Martian Manhunters niece?" Maria asked in excitement. She couldn't believe her luck. As someone who loved researching, Martians were at the top of her list of research subjects. When she had heard that Martian Manhunter's niece was going to be one of the campers she was excited to go even if everything else about the camp deterred her.
"Yep, that's the one!"
"I almost didn't recognize you, I thought you would be, ya know, a little more… green," Maria said as she tried her best not to offend her new roommate.
M'gann was confused at first but then realized she had shapeshifted into her human form to blend in better with the other campers.
"Oh um, I usually make myself look like this to be more approachable. I find that people tend not to interact with me when I'm green."
As much as she hated to admit, people would actively go out of their way to avoid her. No matter how friendly she presented herself no one wanted to talk to her in her Martian form. Even on Mars, her kind was shunned by the other Martians. She didn't want that happening here especially since she wanted to start a new life. No one here knew her so maybe luck was on her side this time.
Maria, however, was disgusted by M'gann's response. How could anyone not want to get to know anyone based on the color of their skin? But then again her history classes told her the answer to that one.
"Well they just sound like a bunch of haters and besides I bet you look just as beautiful as you do now in your Martian form," she said while offering M'gann a warm smile.
M'gann blushed at the compliment. She wasn't used to humans speaking to her in a kind manner much less complimenting her. She was starting to feel like there was hope after all.
Before she could thank Maria, Cal spawned from the shadows and interrupted their conversation.
"As much as I'd hate to disrupt your little chit-chat, we have about-" she checked the clock, "two minutes before this whole assembly thing and I'm not trying to be late."
"Since when did you care about being late?"
"I don't, but then you know who likes to give me those punctuality lectures which quite frankly I'm not in the mood for. So you girls are either coming with me or you can just stay here and get a dose of Batman's lectures."
No arguments were made as the trio left the cabin and went to the assembly hall which surprisingly wasn't hard to find given how big the camp was.
Once they arrived they scouted out familiar faces at a table in a corner of the room near the stage. They made their way through the crowd and were spotted by Dick. He waved them over to his table with their teammates and one other individual Cal was not familiar with who was sitting next to a grumpy Roy.
"About time you guys came, what took you so long," Wally asked.
"Not all of us can get ready in under a minute," Cal responded.
"I'll take that as a compliment," he smirked and turned his attention to M'gann who was speaking with Dick, "Who's the babe?"
Cal immediately stepped on his foot.
"Ow! What was that for??" he said while cradling his violated foot.
"Your lack of respect for my friend."
He looked at her bewildered, "All I did was ask who she was!"
"You could've simply said 'Who is that girl' but noo you just had to be you."
"She's right bro." Dick butted in. Even though he was supposed to be talking to M'gann, he had sensed 'tension' and thought he should add his two cents.
"Who's side are you on?!"
Smiling wickedly he responded, "None, I just wanted to see how long I can prolong this."
"Dude!"
Kaldur was watching the three bicker from his seat knowing that if he intervened it would do absolutely nothing especially with Dick egging them on. He, however, was so engrossed in their conversation that he didn't realize there was someone sitting to his right.
He flinched slightly but then gathered himself quickly so as not to embarrass himself in front of the others.
He cleared his throat before greeting the unexpected guest.
"Hello Maria"
She jerked her head in surprise at the sound of the voice. She wasn't expecting him to say anything to her since he usually kept to himself. That and she didn't trust herself to carry on a normal conversation with him.
"Kaldur! Hey! I didn't even notice you there."
Lies. She knew he was there. She purposely sat next to him.
He smiled, "I wasn't expecting you to be here. I thought you did not like the life of a hero."
"Oh um well, my dad thought it would've been a good idea for me to learn how to fight." Maria was trying her best not to fumble her words but it was getting harder by the second.
"Why not train personally with Batman? Wouldn't it be more convenient given your familial connections?"
"Well that's true but my mom wanted me to train with others who're around my age so that it wouldn't be as mentally taxing. Now I'm not complaining or anything. I very much prefer it this way. Training with Batman? Alone? No thanks! Cal and Robin have already tried to teach me and they were ruthless. Imagine if it that was Batman? I mean yea he did teach me a couple of things growing up. But full-on combat training? No sir! Now I can't get out of it because he's one of the instructors but at least it's better than having to do it ever. single. day. of my life and-" she paused when she noticed the amused look Kaldur was giving her.
"…and I'm rambling… sorry bout' that"
"It's fine, it sounded like you needed to get that out. And if it's any consolation to you I'm glad you're here even if you don't want to be."
His gentle smile and kind words caused Maria to blush. And she knew he could see it, her skin tone was not doing her any justice. She was grateful when she was saved by the screeching of the microphone indicating the start of the assembly.
The campers turned their heads toward the stage to see Green Arrow, who was holding the mic, Black Canary, Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, Green Lantern, and Red Tornado.
"Welcome campers to Camp Justice! We apologize for the delay we had a bit of trouble but things have now been resolved."
Batman looked ahead to avoid making eye contact with Cal. He knew if he did she would have that infuriating smirk she and Dick use when he doesn't follow his own advice. He took part in raising her, he learned how she went about things. He knew she was going to try to pester him later about punctuality and how it goes both ways. Either way, he was screwed.
"We are so excited to be part of your journey in improving your abilities as new and current heroes. Our camp offers tons of activities for you to participate in so I promise you won't be bored," He gestured towards the Justice League members, "Each League member will have an activity that compliments their skills. From there they'll determine which areas you need to focus on more…"
Green Arrow continued on with briefly describing the the layout, the schedule, and the rules. Boredom was evident on the camper's face so he wrapped his speech up before handing the mic to Superman.
They perked up and some even cheered when they saw who was taking over much to Green Arrow's dismay.
"Hello! I'm sure most of you know me and for those of you who don't my name is Superman and I am honored to be here. As a member of the Justice League it is my duty to ensure the safety of this world and others. Being able to help you guys develop the skills to secure a better future is one of our main goals here. I know some of you may not understand at first but I promise you by the end of this camp session you will. Now that doesn't mean you won't have fun. If other certain superhero's had it their way that would be the case," he said as he quickly glanced at Batman. Bruce wasn't sure how much of this he could take and this was only the first day. The only thing that was keeping him sane was knowing that Cal and Dick were not on the roster of campers today at his station.
"With that being said, I hope you all enjoy your time here and learn new things because trust me you will find yourself using it one day."
Superman then passed the mic to Batman. Bruce was not sure why he needed to speak but according to Ollie in rehearsals it gave it more of a dramatic effect.
"Make sure you are prepared because we will not take it easy on you just because you are young. Our decision to choose you was not made lightly so we will not take it lightly. If you find we made the wrong choice you are free to leave. However, if you stay, you will be going through some of the most intense training in your life. But just know that you come out stronger than you have been before. We believe in your abilities to become greater superheroes so don't prove us wrong."
Batman looked out at all the campers. Anticipation was clear in their eyes. At least he didn't scare off any.
"Now that have everything you need to know, gear up. Your training begins now."

Hold your breath
(Emma Myers x fem! reader)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary: You are a new cast member for Wednesday’s second season, and you fall hard for one of the cast members. a/n: I don’t usually write for “real people” so it might be awful Warnings: none (English isn't my first language, I'm sorry if there are mistakes or if something doesn't make sense TvT)
It was your first day on the set of Wednesday, and you were more than nervous. Arriving in a cast later than everyone made it difficult to fit in easily.
You were in front of the studio's door, trying to put yourself together, when someone arrived behind you.
"Is everything okay?"
You jumped and turned around, cheeks reddening in embarrassment.
"Y-yeah I'm just... nervous..."
"Oh wait- you're Y/n L/n right? I'm-"
"Hunter Doohan, I know"
You smiled at him nervously.
"Of course you know, sorry" he chuckled "They told us you would play C/n, everyone wants to meet you, come with me. And don't worry, they don't bite"
He winked at you with a smile, opening the door for you. You stepped in hesitantly, followed by Hunter. He lead you to where the rest of the cast was, and introduced you to them.
They were all here, except for one person.
You started to talk with the cast, feeling more and more at ease, before you heard footsteps coming from behind.
"Sorry I'm late! I was so excited to meet the Y/n L/n I forgot to check the time..."
"Emma-" Joy tried to interrupt her
"She's so cool and pretty and talented-"
Hunter stepped to the side, revealing you standing right here with red cheeks. Immediately, she stopped rambling, embarrassed, her cheeks reddening too.
And that's how you met Emma Myers, the last cast member you had to meet.
Your first day went well, everyone was welcoming and smiling at you as if you were always with them. They invited you to a little party later in the evening, to "celebrate the arrival of our new friend" Georgie said.
As the new antagonist of the series, you had a pretty important role, and so a pretty important number of scenes to shoot. Well you were not revealed as the antagonist at first, you were undercover at Nevermore and tried to befriend Wednesday and Enid.
Because of that, you arrived a little late to the party. Half an hour in the party, half of them already seemed to be drunk.
Georgie was trying to explain something to a perplexe Joy, while Hunter was lying on the couch, head in a bucket, a little green, a worried Jenna by his side.
You backed up a few minutes ago, not wanting him to throw up on you, and were on the balcony, fresh air helping you keep your mind awake.
"Can I join you in this safe place?"
Emma arrived next to you cheeks a little red.
"Sure" you smiled "Are they always like that?"
"Almost all the time... but you'll get used to it" she chuckled "By the way... I'm sorry for earlier, if it made you uncomfortable or anything..."
"Don't worry about that" you gave her a little smile "Beside, I think you're pretty cool and pretty yourself"
<><><><> ♡ <><><><>
It had been 3 months since the shooting begun. You grew close to everyone, and to them you were already part of the family.
"Anddd cut! That's all for today, thanks girls"
It was your last scene of the day, and maybe the last scene of the day. You hadn't paid too much attention to it but everyone seemed to be already gone, except for you and Emma.
You all decided to book rooms at a hotel nearby for a special night. You were supposed to meet after work.
"You're really good at playing a villain!" she complimented you
"Are you saying I'm a good psychopath?"
"Wha- no I just-"
"I'm kidding I'm kidding" you laughed
You both went to change in your casual clothes, putting away your costumes for the night. You took the drink you got earlier in one hand, and your bag in the other, ready to go, but you tripped on a cable.
You almost fell on your face, but fortunately Emma was here to grab your arm and hold you. Unfortunately however, you drink splattered all over your shirt.
"Are you okay?" she asked you, worried
"Yeah, thank god you were here..."
You put your bag on the floor and pulled the aim of your shirt, trying to figure out if it was really stained. It was.
"Shit..."
You were supposed to meet the other at the hotel in less than ten minutes. You didn't had time to go to your room to grab another shirt, and you couldn't come looking like that.
"Is it bad?" Emma stepped in front of you "It is bad..."
"I can't come to a hotel like that..."
"Wait I think I have another shirt!"
She looked in her bag for a second and pulled a short sleeved shirt out of it. Ramen n' chill was written on it, with a ramen bowl drawing. Totally the type of shirt you figured she would wear.
"Here take it"
She handed you the shirt, smiling softly. That smile that made you melt since day one. That smile that made you fall so hard for her.
"I don't know what I would do without you..." you sighed
You took the shirt, thanking her, and took of your stained one before putting it in your bag and putting on the grey shirt.
While you were changing, you didn't notice Emma's gaze on you, nor did you notice the blush on her face as she looked away.
When you arrived at the hotel, everyone welcomed you, and drinks were soon put in your hands. Jenna and Hunter shared a smirk seeing you were wearing Emma's shirt. You were their ship number one.
Everyone started talking, bout you couldn't say about what. You were drowning in Emma's perfume - in a good way. Her shirt smelled like her, like when she hugged you.
"... Y/n?"
You looked up, hearing your name.
"Sorry, I wasn't paying attention"
"We noticed that, what were you thinking about?" Joy asked with an innocent smile
"Maybe a certain someone you would really like..." Hunter continued
"I was thinking about throwing this glass of water at your face if you don't shush right now" you said, cheeks burning
"Oh so you like someone??" Georgie asked "Who??"
All of a sudden everyone got very interested in what was said, especially Emma, sipping her drink quietly.
"Maybe..."
That was all you were ready to say, not wanting to give more detail with Emma right here. She would understand who you like quickly if you were to say anything else.
You avoided all questions for the next fifteen minutes, until Georgie came back. When did he left? You had no idea.
"Guysss! There's a billard over there! Please someone play with me I've always wanted to!"
That caught everyone's attention. They all got up and followed Georgie, letting you breathe a little.
You were about to go with them when Emma grabbed your arm.
"Want to go to the pool with me? They're very loud when they play"
You glanced over to the rest of the group, before nodding with a smile.
"Let's go before they see us"
She took your hand and started running, dragging you with her.
You were both out of breath when you arrived at the pool, laughing like teenagers. You both took your shoes and socks off.
"Do you think the water is hot?" Emma asked after a minute.
"I don't know you" got closer to the pool "I'm going to check"
You bent down to touch the water, when you felt Emma's hands on your back.
"Hold your breath" she whispered right next to your ear before pushing you
The water was rather cold. It soaked your clothes and your hair. When you came back to the surface, you rubbed your eyes-
"Hey! Not cool!" you pouted
"Sorry, I couldn't help it" she smile "here, I'll help you out"
She held her hand for you to grab. You took her hand, and paused.
"Hold your breath" you said, winked at her, and pulled her down into the water.
"Guess I deserved that" she said
She looked at you and at the water, a playfull smile on her face.
"Don’t even-"
You got cut off by water splashing on your face.
"You want to play that game? Ok let’s play"
You spent the next 30 minutes splashing water at each other.
"Ok ok I surrender!" you finally said, lifting your hands up
She stopped with a victorious smile and ran a hand through her hair so she could see properly. The light of the moon and the pool reflected in her eyes . They seemed more blue like that. You felt like you could drown in them.
She was pretty everyday, with or without makeup, with every style of clothes. You never saw her with wet hair before. She was gorgeous.
You knew you were staring for too long, but you just couldn't look away. When she got a little closer, you noticed she was staring too. Her eyes flickered from your own to your lips.
"Y/n..."
"Hm...?"
"I really want to kiss you"
You got closer to her, never breaking eye contact.
"I really want to kiss you too"
She closed the gap between you, soft lips pressed against yours in a soft kiss. She cupped your cheeks with one hand and placed the other on your waist as you locked your arms around her neck.
She was a good kisser. The best kiss you ever had.
When you pulled away, her lips were all red. They curled up into a smile. She took you hands and led you to a stack of towel. She took one and started to dry your hair gently.
You grabbed another towel and threw it around her so she wouldn't get cold. Unfortunately the other towel were small ones, so she pulled you closer to her, wet bodies pressing against each other.
"Looks like we have to share the big towel" she said
You kissed her again. She smiled against your lips, kissing back. Soon, the kiss turned into a more feverish one.
Hot breaths were shared after you pulled away, before you pressed your nose into her neck. She hugged you thight.
"I love you Emma" you whispered
"I love you too Y/n"

━━━ CHAPTER FOUR .ᐟ ⋆。˚
most of the classes have passed, and it's finally time for lunch.
spencer navigates through the lunch line, picking out his favorite foods before heading to his usual table where frankie, shay, and lola are already seated.
he missed them during classes and can't wait to gossip with his best friends.
along the way, he exchanges a fist bump with hunter, who's busy laughing with a group of friends.
setting his lunch tray down, spencer takes his seat, noticing that miles and winston haven't arrived yet.
he knows they'll show up eventually, so he doesn't dwell on it as he begins peeling his orange.
the group chats about their day—lola talks animatedly about meeting a new boy, shay proudly recounts her record-breaking moment in pe, and frankie dramatically laments a broken nail.
the conversation shifts to miles and spencer when lola suddenly gasps, remembering something from the morning.
"hey, spencer, what was up with miles pulling you away this morning?" lola asks, curiosity sparkling in her eyes.
spencer shrugs nonchalantly. "he just wanted to walk me to class."
the table goes silent for a moment, everyone freezing in shock. "wait, what?" shay says, raising an eyebrow. "he's never walked you to class before."
frankie nods, equally stunned. "yeah, what's up with that?"
spencer looks at them like they're crazy (despite having the same question earlier he didn't want to encourage them) "what? it's no big deal."
before the conversation can continue, miles and winston walk in.
miles greets the table with a warm smile, making his greeting to spencer especially personal with a kiss on the cheek. "hey, sunshine. missed you," he says, settling next to spencer while winston takes a seat across from him and next to frankie.
spencer groans, rolling his eyes. "oh my god. how am i ever going to get a boyfriend when everyone thinks i'm dating you? i told you to stop kissing me at school."
shay raises an eyebrow, intrigued. "you two kiss outside of school?"
spencer gives her a look. "no."
frankie grins, jumping in. "miles kisses his cheek every morning and spencer likes it."
spencer's face flushes. "i do not like it."
miles chuckles, leaning closer. "what's wrong with people thinking we're dating?"
spencer mouths miles' words, having had this conversation countless times.
"i really don't see why you two don't just stop whatever this is and date already," shay chimes in, gesturing between them with her fork.
"i've been waiting for them to get together since we were eight," frankie says.
"and you'll be waiting forever," spencer retorts. "so, why were you two so late?" he redirects the conversation to miles and winston.
winston explains, "we signed miles up for student body president, and i'm his campaign manager. surprised you're not running."
"politics, not my thing," spencer replies, referencing six the musical. theater and quiz bowl already fill his plate, much to his father's dismay, who wants him to follow in his footsteps. "i do want to help though," spencer adds casually, prompting wide-eyed stares from the table.
"you want to voluntarily help miles?" winston asks incredulously.
"we partner up all the time in class and are on the same quiz bowl team. why are you guys acting like we've never worked together?" spencer asks.
"exactly. donovan and i make a good team," miles boasts, pulling spencer closer with a grin.
spencer pushes him off before saying, "miles would make a great president. he's smart and well-versed in politics, so handling school politics should be a breeze," spencer says matter-of-factly, continuing to eat as if his statement weren't a bombshell, though his friends react as if it is.
"what happened to the real spencer?" lola asks, astonished. "oh my god, they're totally fucking already."
spencer almost chokes on his drink. "remind me not to compliment miles ever again. we're not fucking. i just can't think of anyone more suited for this role than him. especially not tristan." he looks at the campaign poster of tristan on the wall.
spencer and tristan have a rocky history, almost as rocky as miles' own history with tristan.
tristan never liked spencer because of how close he and miles were and never hesitated to voice that throughout his relationship with miles.
spencer didn't like the way tristan treated miles during their relationship, telling miles he's just like his father, knowing full well about the emotional and physical abuse miles endured at the hands of that man.
although spencer acts like he doesn't care sometimes, he truly cares about miles. both of them joke around with each other, but they know they'll always have each other's backs. spencer doesn't take kindly to people seriously mistreating miles, and vice versa.
miles sits quietly, a smile playing on his lips. hearing spencer speak so kindly of him makes his heart skip a beat. miles doesn't even have to ask if spencer is serious about helping him; he already knows the answer.
"okay, then. after quiz bowl practice, we can head to your house and brainstorm some ideas," miles says, still smiling.
winston gives him a knowing look, making miles mouth "what?" but he smiles because he already knows what.
winston mouthing, "you know what," and miles just laughs silently.
spencer looks between them with squinted eyes, trying to decipher their silent exchange.

You'll Never Know
Summary: You and Bucky share a date before he leaves for war. 40s!Bucky x F!Reader Warnings: Angst, angst and more angst.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
1943
You had never been so excited for a science expo. You didn't really know much or have much interest in the stuff but Bucky had asked you to go to the World's Fair and you just couldn't say no. For so long you two had been stealing glances and filling rooms with tension but neither of you had the courage to make a move. When he finally stopped by your work, his cheeks flushed and fidgeting, you knew immediately.
Having known each other for years, you'd think admitting affection wouldn't be such a task. But it was the hardest thing he'd ever done and you could tell by the huff of air he let out in relief when you agreed to go. He'd told you Steve was coming along too and that he invited a girl for him as well. Just like Buck, always looking out for his best friend. Even when the dark cloud of war was hovering over your heads. And you knew he would be leaving for Italy tomorrow, you were determined to make his last night in New York unforgettable.
When Bucky asked you to come with him, he hadn't made it clear if it was a date or just an excursion between friends. But the nervous buzzing energy had you leaning towards the former and he just wasn't brave enough to spit it out.
You spotted him striding towards you from across the courtyard waving his hand with a wide grin on his face. Steve was beside him, looking smaller than usual with his shoulders slumped and his hands stuffed in his pockets.
"Hey, doll!" He greeted, his smile awakening the butterflies in your stomach.
"Hey, Buck." You smiled, your eyes lingering on his before looking to Steve.
"And hello, Steve." You added, wanting to make him feel just as welcome. Though you didn't know Steve as well as Bucky, you knew him enough.
"Hi, Y/N. You look lovely." He complimented. You playfully twirled the skirt of your navy blue dress,
"Why thank you, Steve. You're looking quite handsome yourself." He blushed at your praise and you saw Bucky stiffen in jealousy.
"Come on, the other girls waiting for you Steve. Let's go." Bucky clapped his left hand on Steve's back pushing the poor boy forward. Bucky turned to you with smiles, offering his right arm for you to take as you entered the fair.
A cute blonde girl squealed as she noticed Bucky and he smiled back. Still holding your arm hooked on his, he snaked his left hand to rest it on yours. His silent way of showing you, he only had interest in you and this other girl was no competition. You giggled softly to yourself.
The blonde barely entertained Steve's presence the entire time during Stark's presentation. And your heart broke a little for the poor thing. After a moment Steve disappeared and Bucky apologized to you as he ran off to find him. Leaving you alone with the other girl.
"Y'know, Steve is a real sweetheart. You should be so lucky." You glared at the girl and she scoffed.
"That scrawny thing? I only came for Bucky, but looks like he has poor taste anyways." She hissed with a roll of her eyes.
"Ha!" You started laughing uncontrollably.
"What's so funny?" The blonde asked, her hands on her hips.
"Oh nothing." You shrugged.
"What's he see in you anyways? Never seen a man so weak in the knees for a plain Jane like you." She snarled, and you clenched your fists.
When your fist connected with her nose, you were surprised at yourself. But it felt kinda good.
"How's that for plain!" You shouted as the girl held her nose. Suddenly you felt yourself scooped into the air by strong arms and pulled out of the crowd.
"I leave you for five minutes and you punch a girl!" Bucky's voice was stern but you knew he secretly loved it. You looked up at him, shaking the hand you punched her with.
"She was getting real smart, Buck. I just couldn't take it anymore."
Bucky burst out laughing and you placed your hands on your hips,
"What? What's so damn funny?!" You demanded as he continued chuckling.
"Never thought I'd see a girl defending me, it's a first." He admitted, his laughter dying down.
"Defending you? What-you heard the whole thing?"
He nodded, a cheeky smile on his face. You slapped him playfully on his shoulder.
"You damn bastard, why didn't you step in and save the day?" You asked.
"I don't know, I wanted to see what you'd do. Didn't think you'd do that though. Hell of a right hook, Y/N." He teased.
"Yeah, you better watch your back, Buck. I'll show you a right hook, you son of a bitch." You sassed.
"Come on, doll face. Let's go dance."
He took your hand and pulled you through the crowd to the dance hall where cheerful music was spilling out into the courtyard. Couples were spinning around the dance floor like figures from a music box.
"Aw gee, Bucky, I'm not that coordinated." You hesitated as the dance floor got closer.
"Neither am I, let's make a fool of ourselves together." He winked. He whirled you forward, sliding the two of you into the sea of couples. He took both your hands in his and started moving to the beat of the band. You felt awfully silly and you were sure you looked even sillier. Holding each other's hands up near your chests like kids on the playground too scared to get any closer. Swinging them side to side and twisting your bodies the best you could to match the rhythm. You broke into a fit of giggles and Bucky joined you, his nose scrunching up in that way you always thought was so endearing. Two fools indeed.
The music began to slow and so did the couples around you. Some retreated to the bar for refreshments, clearing some space on the dance floor. You and Bucky stood rather awkwardly, still holding your hands in that silly position. Watching the other couples around you press against each other in intimate embraces.
"Well, are you gonna dance with me or are we just gonna stand here like two idiots?" You looked up at him with a smirk. His cheeks turned red, a bashful grin on his face as he stepped closer to close to the space between you. His left hand let go of yours and moved to rest gently on your lower back. Your free hand found its way to rest on his upper arm, you had never been this close before. You felt that childish bashfulness bubbling up inside, urging you to avert your gaze. Slowly, he lead you into a gentle waltz.
"How's this for dancing?" He teased, earning a light giggle from you in response.
For a moment, you just looked at each other. Reveling in the feeling, the fleeting feeling. Knowing what tomorrow would bring.
"You owe me a real date when you get back." You said boldly, Bucky's blue eyes widened at your brazenness.
"This isn't a real date?" He retorted.
"This is nice and all but I mean a real one. Like dinner and a movie." You smirked and he chuckled.
"Oh really?"
"Yeah, really. And you gotta ask me properly this time." You continued.
"Properly? What do you mean?" He was flabbergasted. He thought he was doing so well.
"Bucky, you burst into my place of work like a bull in a china shop and asked me to go tonight. That's not how you ask a lady on first a date." You told him. He huffed,
"Well, alright then." He looked down as his shoes for a moment before his eyes locked in yours again. Those steel blues eyes piercing right through you.
"Will you go to dinner and a movie with me?" He asked, his voice suddenly sultry making heat rise in your cheeks.
"Why, yes, Bucky. I'd love to." You accepted.
"Good. I'll pick you up at 7, on the dot." He winked.
"7 it is. I'll hold you to it."
You danced for a little while longer before it started getting late and Bucky took you home. At the steps leading up to brownstone you called home, you paused. Now it was time to say good bye for Heaven knew how long. And that feeling you'd been keeping locked away all night was rearing its ugly head. That melancholy that he was leaving you tomorrow.
"I had a great time, Buck. Really." You gently laced your fingers with his, looking down at the concrete steps you stood on.
"Me too, doll. Thanks for going with me." He flashed a smile but it fell quickly. You breathed in deeply,
"Come back to me, alright. Safe and sound." You looked into his eyes with such fierceness, such sadness.
"I promise." He leaned forward and placed a gentle kiss on your forehead.
"I'll give you a real one on our next date." He gave you a cheeky smile and you grinned back.
"I'm holding you to it, Buck."
A quick hug and he was off. And you headed up to your apartment alone, carrying the sadness on your shoulders until you were behind closed doors. Where you let it go. Let it drop you on your couch like a brick, let it lull you into sleep. Dreaming of that date.
December 1944
You and Bucky had been exchanging letters for a while. Off and on, here and there. You knew he was busy and tried your best not to sink like an anchor when his replies took too long. You kept them in a drawer at your desk, taking them out every night to read his sweet words. His promises, his hopes for his return. He told you about Steve coming to his rescue and how shocked he was at who he had become. You had been just as surprised when you first saw him as well. Captain America, the Star Spangled Man. But he'd always be that sweet boy to you. You wrote him back about everything that had happened here at home. Your new job and how much you liked it. How you planned to go see your folks for Christmas and how you wished he was coming with you. How you missed him everyday and thought of him every night. How you hoped for his safe return and your excitement for your date. You'd even suggested a restaurant, a nice Italian place right down the street from you. Real romantic. You even listed a few movies you heard would be coming out next year that you wanted to see with him. You wondered if he kept all your replies too.
January 1945
There was a letter waiting for you at your door when you arrived home one late January evening. It had the stamp of the U.S Military on it and your heart swelled, maybe it was Bucky writing to tell you he was coming home. Hurriedly, you unlocked your door so you could open the letter.
"Dear Y/N,
I wish I were writing to you under better circumstances. I wish I didn't have to write what I'm about to, I can't tell you how much I wish things were different.
About a week ago, Bucky accompanied me on a special mission. Things were going just fine until he got hit and fell off the train we hijacked. I tried, I tried to save him but he lost his grip. I know how much he wanted to come back to you, he never stopped talking about you. The plans he had, the date he was looking forward to. He loved you, Y/N and I regret that he never got to tell you that himself. He loved you so much I don't even think he realized it.
I'll be off on another mission soon, one to finally stop the people who took Bucky from us. When I'm back, I'll take you out to dinner. I know it won't be the same but it's the least I could do, in his honor. I'm sorry, so very sorry.
Your friend, Steve Rogers"
But Steve never came. Not long after that letter arrived, the news of Captain America's sacrifice was everywhere. You lost not one but both of them. And at some point the pain became so great you went numb. Forcing yourself to work and do anything to keep moving forward. A woman named Peggy came by to visit, she knew Steve and Bucky. She told you of her time with him and the brief moments with Bucky. You became fast friends, helping each other through your grief.
You forever would regret not telling him you loved him. With no grave to visit, to honor. You found yourself visiting old hangouts and reminiscing. Even as the years went by, and you moved on as best you could. You never forgot him. Neither of them. Not once. And you prayed, that somewhere out there in some other universe, he came back to you.

Jean vs Reggaeton
This fic isn’t beta readed, so I'm sorry for my bad english.
Intern (Irene) uses she/her pronouns.
A week before the money laundry plan finished, Intern received a text message while working. It was from one of her cousins inviting to a party at a local club. She accepted, it’s been ages since she went out. The message also said she could invite one friend.
At that moment, she heard a sigh from Jean who was working near her. With the deadline approaching, he had to be sure everything went according to the plan. As a result, he looked even worse than usual, darker bags under his eyes and gaze constantly lost in his own thoughts. Then, a brilliant idea came into her mind.
“Hey Jean, are you free this saturday night? Or are you going to finally get some sleep?” Intern walked to his desk.
“You know blinking is the only way I sleep” He chuckled. “Why do you ask?” His eyes still focused on the screen with an almost empty coffee mug in his hand.
“Wanna go out for drinks? I was invited somewhere and I'll like you to come too”
Jean paused his work for a moment and remembered his plan was to practice the ukulele. At first, he thought about declining since he was exhausted. However, it wasn't often when they could go out without the brothers and it would be nice to go somewhere new for a change.
“I’ll go. I need a distraction or I'll jump in front of the next car I see”
“Great! I'll send you the place and we'll meet there” She said with a smile. “But first I'll do a new pot of coffee, we still have a few hours left”
The day finally arrived and Intern was outside the building waiting for Jean while walking back and forth. This was different from the other times they went out. Normally, they'll go to drink and relax at a bar after work. She feared this hangout would make him go back home more stressed.
Her train of thoughts stopped when she saw Jean arrive and her heart skipped a beat. It was a pleasant surprise to see what he wears outside work. It wasn't anything outstanding but it made him look more handsome than usual.
“Damn Jean, you look stunning! I didn’t know you had something other than your usual white shirts and black pants” She greeted with a hug.
“Well thank you! I can say the same about you too”
“Oh, this old thing? You flatter me” Intern covered her face dramatically. “Now turn around, I want to see the whole outfit”
He complied and then said in a soft tone “Really, you do look gorgeous tonight”
“Thanks” Said flustered, taken by surprise by the sincere compliment. “Every once in a while we need to get all dressed up. Let's take a picture before we get inside”
They found a spot to take a selfie and then went to the entrance. When they got through the door, they found a big crowd already. For them not to get separated, Intern took Jean's hand and guided him towards the bar.
After they got their drinks, they went to the reserved table for guests. It was on the second floor, near the stairs. Most guests were on the dance floor, which meant they were alone. Luckily, even with the rather loud music in the background, they could still hear each other.
“Do you come here often? I see you are familiar with this place” Jean asked after he had his drink.
“My cousin is a friend of the owner. She likes to go out a lot and that means she dragged me here countless times” Intern took a sip of her cocktail. “Do you like it?”
“It's a little different from what I’m used to, but it has a nice ambience”
“Just you wait until the good music starts, it'll get even better. Believe me, you'll shake off all that stress”
“I'll take your word for it, or you'll suffer the consequences for lying to a dangerous mafia member” Both laughed.
Slowly, they lose track of how long they've been talking, only being interrupted a few times by Intern’s friends who came to greet her. Later, when Intern was about to get a new drink, she heard a familiar melody. As soon as she recognized it, immediately stood up and turned around towards Jean.
“Do you know how to dance?” She said looking expectantly.
“I do, but-”
“Good, you are coming with me” She grabbed his hand and quickly led him to the dance floor.
“Hey! What's the rush?”
“The song will end! Besides, you need to experience the rest of this place”
They got through the crowd until they found a spot big enough for both. Intern let go of him and started dancing, while Jean remained still.
She started swinging her hips in circles, spinning around, slowly going down and up with the rhythm of the music. On top of that, she was singing loudly while pointing at him. Sadly, he couldn't understand anything the song said.
Jean stood mesmerized by this new side of Intern. She was rather calm in their everyday life, despite how crazy their work became.
Normally, it was a good thing since he needed someone who can stay grounded, but now he wished she could take this rowdy side more often. As he saw her passionately doing what she enjoys, it made him eager to start doing the same.
He snapped out of his own thoughts and decided to join her, imitating those around him. He tried to move with the rhythm but that only made him bump into other people. For his misfortune, the only physical activity he does is walk to the bus since he hasn’t reclaimed his car yet. So, he failed miserably as his moves were too stiff.
Intern got out of her zone when she saw Jean's performance. This made her laugh a lot and got closer to his ear.
“Jean, you lied to me!” Intern tried her best to calm her laugh.
“I'm rusty, okay? Besides, the ones I know are slower with more space to move” He tried to hide his embarrassment.
“Let me show you then”
First, she made Jean separate his feet and slightly flex his knees since it’ll be easier to maintain stability and not crash with anyone. Then, he had to tiptoe forward and back in place while his shoulders swung forward. Once he got more comfortable, Intern showed how to move his hips on a circle while going down and up. This one took a little more coordination.
As time went on, Jean got enough practice and started to do it with more confidence. When Intern was satisfied with his performance, she resumed her own dancing. This should’ve been enough for him not to humiliate himself, except that he still looked somewhat stiff.
“Give me your hand” Intern said while extending hers.
“What for?”
“Just trust me” She winked.
Intern realized Jean took these lessons too seriously and proceeded to playfully make him swirl. It didn’t go as smoothly as she wanted, but it made Jean laugh and loosen up. Still holding hands, he tried the same with her. Except that this time, it went perfectly.
It's been a while since she saw Jean in a good mood. He was so anxious about every single detail for the money laundry scheme, due to his head being at risk. Still, he deserved to enjoy the present.
Intern knows Jean hates his job, he always warns about ending up like him. Despite all of that, still got something out of it, the Bada brothers. Even if they don't show it often, from the way they talk and treat each other, it's obvious they care about Jean. Another thing he has now… is her heart.
Unexpectedly, he became someone important in her life and everything was better with him close by. That's why she felt honored to make him feel safe enough to show his hobby and really hoped he had that confidence to just be himself more often.
Intern had this attraction towards Jean for quite a while, but wasn't sure whether to make a move or not. For the most part, it’s because they work together and could bring problems for both in case he was interested.
However, tonight they weren't co-workers, they were friends and that gave her more confidence in being more direct with her affection.
Deep inside, she feared he would've been taken aback by her attitude and changed the way he treats her. But it was a huge relief that it wasn't the case, on top of that he learned about her interest.
As both were dancing while holding hands, Intern was dying to get closer to Jean but didn’t want to make him uncomfortable. So, she started to move her hands at a slow pace to his shoulders, looking at his reaction. If he appears to be uncomfortable, she'll stop.
He shivered with the sudden caress, it’s been forever since he felt a simple touch like that. Despite the initial surprise, he took the hint and his hands went to her hips just like those couples around them. Upon every movement, she could feel her heart beating faster. His hands on her body gave her courage to get closer. Little by little until their bodies were almost pressed against each other.
Neither of them were paying attention to the music or people around them anymore. The only thing in their mind was the way they slowly moved together in synchrony while looking at each other.
The tension between them became painful and their faces got closer. Intern's lips almost reached into his. But all of a sudden, she stopped and pulled back. The nervousness got the better of her this time. Jean looked expectantly, but didn't move forward either. Intern had to think something quick to make the moment less awkward.
“Wanna go back?” She asked while mentally beating herself for wasting this chance.
Jean just nodded and both left with regret on their faces. To forget about this, they asked for another round of drinks before going back. When Jean sits down, he realizes how fatigued he feels, they have been dancing for a long while now.
“I wasn't THAT terrible, right?” He said with a short breath as he dropped into his seat.
“You did a good job actually! I'll take that as you had a good time” Intern sat and had her drink.
“I did, I feel a huge weight off my back. Although, I can't fucking move anymore” He sunk into the sofa.
“You see? I kept my promise. Besides, you deserve to unwind every now and then”
“Thank you. But, you never told me you could dance like that! Where did you even learn it?”
“Ha! It's one of my secret talents. I promise, I'll teach you more next tim-”
Intern suddenly recognized one of her favorite songs blasting through the speakers and stood up again.
“I'll be right back, it won't take long” She set down her drink on the table.
“Aren't you tired?” The thought of standing up was already draining him, let alone go back.
“Not when this banger is playing, but you can stay if you want”
Intern rushes back while Jean watches from the second floor, still with the promise in his mind and a dumb smile on his face. Then, the words “next time” echoed in his head and reality hit him.
In secret, he had been planning to leave the city after the Colombian deal was done. As much as he would've loved to run away earlier, he didn't want to leave Intern behind just like that. He finally found someone he could truly connect with, and now he had to be alone again.
A question occupied his mind. Will this truly be the last time they can be together like this?
The answer made his chest hurt but he couldn't stay for much longer. Even so, the thought of Intern wondering where he went or whether he’s okay, made the pain worse. Maybe it wasn’t a bad idea to let her know about his plan.
He was looking at the distance when he saw Intern waving at him, interrupting his thoughts.
“Fuck it, that next lesson has to be sooner” Jean stood up.
He pushed his worries aside and joined Intern on the dance floor once again. If this was their last time, then he'll make it worth it.
----------
The song that plays when Intern gets up for the first time is "Atrévete-Te-Te" by Calle 13 (Explicit Version). And the one when they are about to kiss is "Ahora Es" by Wisin & Yandel.

Bride of Discord Chapter 8: the gift
Fluttershy's usual nightmare was interrupted by a Booming, familiar voice: "STAY AWAY FROM HER OR SHALL THEE BE SMITTEN BY MY WRATH."
The draconequus then vanished and a certain blue alicorn appeared before her in the darkness.
"Princess Luna?" she gasped.
"is thee alright, Fluttershy?" the princess inquired.
"Yes. Thank you, but…I heard you could enter dreams, but how come you haven't shown up before?"
"Apologies, for I have many subjects. It was very inconsiderate of me not to have rid your head of that creature before. But Fluttershy, your friends worry about you. Has he been cruel to you in any way?"
"Well, not exactly, but…"
"Yes?"
She gulped. "He…he wants me to love him."
Luna's eyes widened ever so lightly. "Pardon?"
"You see, I…I convinced him to postpone the wedding, but he wants me to love him first."
"thou hast loved many creatures, but none of our own intelligence. Can thou love this creature?"
"He's…not so bad…"
"Fluttershy, he is a deceitful creature!"
"But…he already has me…"
"I mean not to keep thou paranoid. But do not let simple acts of gifts or compliments be misidentified ad compassion. thou needn't love him because he loves thee."
Luna's image began to shift. It became blurred. "You're waking! I must go!"
"Tell my friends I'm okay!" Fluttershy shouted. "Tell them…"
She didn't get to finish as the sunlight had awoken her. She checked the squiggly handed clock on the wall. It was seven in the morning. At some point in her weeping yesterday, she had fallen asleep. Had she really been asleep for that long?
There was a knock at her door. She didn't need to ask who it was.
"Come in?"
As she had figured, it was Discord who opened the door, a wide grin upon his face.
"Good morning, my beauteous bride!" he chimed. "You certainly were tired to have slept the whole day! Well, now that you're up, how about some breakfast?"
"Um, sure?"
Honestly, she really wanted something to eat, but did not want to spend more time with Discord. I don't wanna be rude, of course i should Give him a chance! she told herself. After all, he's probably not used to being nice to ponies.
With a snap of his fingers, she was seated at the table. Discord materialized behind her.
"What would my lovely fiancé like this morning? Pancakes? Toast? Muffins?"
"Um, pancakes would be…"
A stack of pancakes appeared in front of her before she could finish her sentence
"I trust you slept well?" he inquired.
"Yes," she fibbed.
"And the bed? Was it comfortable enough?"
"Oh, yes, very."
He leaned his face toward her. "I have a gift for you."
He opened his paw and summoned a jade bracelet. Fluttershy looked at it unsurely as he slid it on her hoof.
"It's…lovely.
"Well, it's nothing compared to you."
His head rested on top of her's, before she pushed him off rather quaintly.
The next few days blurred into themselves. It was monotonous. Cold. Or warm if she wanted it. Or snowy. Does the queen want flax seed? Does she want music, or gems, or towels or dresses?! Now does she love him? Or now? Or now? Click! It's me! You have to give me what I want and even then you'll never see the others! Click! Creeeaaaak, tromp, poof!
One day, she absolutely refused to come out of her room. It wasn't until the afternoon that Discord attempted to lure her out.
"Oh, Fluttershy!" he called. "Your knight in shining armor doth hath arrived! Or something."
She opened the door slightly to see the draconequus in a suit of gold armor, holding a bouquet of roses upside down. When he noticed this error, he quickly corrected it. Fluttershy just slammed the door without a second glance. Discord frowned, but kept his cool.
"Come now, my dear. You've been in there all day."
"Go away!" she screamed.
He clenched his teeth as he made the armor and flowers disappear. "I've been patient with you, pony, but you really don't want to make me angry!"
"Go ahead! Get angry! Every night you ask me the same question and I will always give the same answer! It's still no!"
"Come out here, right now!" he bellowed.
There was a pause, and then a soft, but defiant, "No."
"You can't stay in there forever!"
"Oh, yes I can! I have an endless supply of food in here! NONE OF IT IS LOVE."
"I really should have rethought putting that microwave in," he muttered, face palming himself
He took a deep breath. Play it cool, Discord. He spoke in a softer voice.
"Will you come out?"
"No!"
He grunted, but then tried a different tactic. "Will you come out, please?"
"No, thank you!"
He erupted like a volcano. "You come out here this instant!"
"I won't! And you can't make me! Bleeeegghhhh!" She blew raspberries. He thought he even heard a giggle behind the mahogany.
"Have you forgotten who I am?!"
With a snap of his fingers, she was out in front of the door. He used his index finger to levitate the engagement ring around her neck, lifting her in the process.
"You promised yourself to me," he growled, pointing toward the ring, "and you are going to be my wife, love me or not!
Seeing his dark expression, Fluttershy was truly afraid of him at this moment, but she stayed strong and glared back at him. "Fine! Marry me then! Don't wait for me to love you! Because there is no way in this world I could ever JUST RANDOMLY fall in LOVE!"
"Oh, is that so?! Well, let's stop wasting time then! We'll be married first thing in the morning, whether you like it or not!"
As he released his magic from her, she crossed her hooves and turned away.
"That's it, missy! Go to your room!"
"You're not my mother!"
"well I'm your husband! so get used to my orders!"
"Well, I'm your future wife, so get used to my complaints!"
"Whatever! We're still getting married tomorrow, so ha!"
"Fine!"
"Fine!"
"Fine!"
She slammed the door angrily. Then she rushed to her bed. She wanted so desperately to cry, but she felt to powerful to do so. her giggling turned into sobbing. Golly, what am I becoming in here!?
"Oh, that pony!" Discord grunted.
Then he heard the pony's weeping and his anger faded. He hadn't meant to make her cry, but none of this was working! He covered his ears, trying to block out her whining as he teleported to his bedroom.
His angel and devil appeared, in their ridiculous glory.
"What will it take?!" he cursed.
"Lots of whining and crying," the devil muttered.
"Precisely!"
"Give her time," the angel advised. "You did take away her friends and freedom after all."
"But she agreed to it!"
"So what's the point in making her fall in love with you?" the reflection inquired. "Why is that the plan? Do you have a plan?"
"Of course I do! Did you not hear me earlier?!"
"I mean I think that pony's turned you soft!"
Discord blinked and then growled. "Soft?! You're calling me, the Master of Chaos, soft?!"
"He's got a point, you been being sappy." the devil agreed.
"You're not supposed to agree with them!" Discord exclaimed.
"Come now, even I know you're not perfect."
The draconequus cried out and stomped his foot, which made the sound of thousands of glasses shattering. Then realization hit him.
"Why am I talking to you?" he asked as he flicked the angel and devil off his shoulders. "You're all me! I can't take advice from myself! I need to ask some pony else."
He tapped his chin until he came up with an idea.
Zecora was shocked to open her door and find the Lord of Chaos standing there.
"Hello, neighbor!" he waved. His usual wear, (that being nothing,) was now replaced with a nice red knit sweater. Underneath was a fancy button-down, a colorful tie, and navy slacks. A puppet was on his hand.
Her mouth was open, but she could get no words out
"You're not still mad about me turning your hut upside-down, are you?" he asked as he invited himself in. "It was nothing personal, just chaos.
"Um…" Zecora stammered.
He rolled his eyes. "Alright, so here's the deal. I hear you're good at giving advice. Am I right?" The zebra nodded absent mindedly. "Well, I need it! And if you tell any pony about this, I'll turn you into an acorn to feed to the squirrels!"
"Alright!" She cleared her throat. "No frights! come Sit down at peace with me, I will fix us up some tea!
"Not much of a tea drinker. I prefer a bit of eggnog. Maybe with nutmeg!"
But he sat down anyway. Zecora seated herself across from him.
"Now what do you think I can do? Can I fix this thing for you?"
Discord put his head in his hands and sighed. "It's my fiancé, Fluttershy! I'm sure you've heard of our engagement…"
"thought the grapevine, perhaps I've heard... Or maybe it was a little bird."
"Yes, well…she's not exactly…happy."
"You did take her from her friends, so it was expected her happiness would end-"
"That's what my shoulder angel said!" Zecora blinked at him. "Never mind. But I've swallowed my dignity to please this woman! I've given her all the luxury and comfort a pony could want and she doesn't give so much as a smile! She just sits in her room and cries!" He looked pleadingly at the zebra. "What am I doing wrong?"
"I can help you, keep yourself calm. Reach out and let me hold your palm." He reached out and she held it in her hooves.
"did she tell you anything of sorts, to tell you why she cut you out short?"
"she keeps telling me that everything I give her can't make her love me! Is that gold digging? If you give somepony something, they love you because you gave them something happy!"
"Fluttershy sees past your love-bomb, no e of these gifts solves her qualms."
He tugged his paw away. "Quit talking in riddles! That's my job! How do I make Fluttershy happy?"
"to solve your blindness, you must act with kindness."
He stared at her. "Come again?"
"Fluttershy is not won by wealth and jewels. Kindness and consideration will be your tools. Learn of her interests, her pleasures, her joys, and use them for love instead of your ploys."
"Okay, okay! So how do I do this…kind thing?"
"simple pleasures will not do. It has to come from the heart of you."
"I've given her gifts!"
"Something that compliments her personality. Not just something from brutality."
"Something she vibes with?" He paused to think. His claw tapped his face. "Well, she doesn't really do anything other than play with animals and admire boring plants…" His face lit up. "Wait a minute. That's it!" He turned to the zebra. "You're good! You're welcome at my castle any time!"
After he had vanished, Zecora shook her head with a laugh. "Oh, if only he were to know where this endeavor was going to go." She then went back to her egg cleanse.
Why would I ever know what to do? I repeated what she said back to you!
Meanwhile, Spike and Applejack were trying to keep Fluttershy's animals under control.
"Y'all come back here, ya varmints!" she shouted at beavers as they hauled away a tree they had recently cut down.
"Angel, I have to finish fluffing your tail!" Spike called as he chased after the white rabbit that had hair curlers in his tail.
"Spike, help me round up these chickens!"
"I'm kind of busy here!"
He grabbed hold of Angel, who gave him a hard kick in the snout. Of course, he was built for hard tasks, and remained resilient.
"I thought you were supposed to be good with takin' care of critters," Applejack said.
"Yeah," Spike grunted as he lost his grip on the bunny. "Maybe when there are six of them at a time, not six hundred! What about you? Don't you raise animals for a living?
"My animals are trained and stay in their pens. Wynona, get those weasels out of the coop!"
"How does Fluttershy handle these guys?! I wish they would all just disappear!"
As he said that, a white flash caused the animals to vanish from sight. All that was left was Applejack, Spike and Wynona.
"I didn't mean that literally."
"What in tarnation?" the pony gasped. "Where'd they get off to?"
Suddenly, Spike burped up a letter. When he opened it, he raised an eyebrow.
"This isn't from the princess."
"Let me see." As Applejack read the note, her eyes widened.
"Well, I'll be damned."
The tears would not stop. After hearing that she would be married to that monster tomorrow, the waterworks had broken loose.
She should run away, she had thought, but Fluttershy knew that breaking her promise would give Discord the freedom of taking over Equestria. Besides, he could bring her back with the snap of his fingers.
He didn't mean it. His face softened when you started to cry. But he has no right!... I feel a little sorry too. He's a monster, but-
A light knock on her door startled her. "Fluttershy?"
She buried her face in her pillow. "Go away!"
Outside, Discord silently cursed, but then took a deep breath. "I just wanted to say I'm…s-s-s…"
"What?" Fluttershy choked, lifting her head.
"I'm s-s-s-sorry!"
This caught her attention. This must have been his first time saying that word.
"I didn't realize how upset this deal would make you…"
"Yes, you did!" she snapped.
"Okay, I did! I just ignored that fact. You see…I don't know how to…act in these kinds of situations. I'm sorry I lost my temper with you earlier, but…can you at least give me a chance to make it up to you?"
She paused. "Well…"
"You don't have to marry me tomorrow."
He waited patiently. After a while, she opened the door and looked up at him.
"What is it?"
He grinned a little. "I have something to show you, but first, close your eyes!"
She raised an eyebrow at him, but complied. He waved a paw in front of her to check that she could not see. Smiling excitedly, he took her front hooves and led her to the door leading outside.
Fluttershy did not know what to expect. She was surprised by how tenderly he was holding her hooves. She had to flap her wings to keep her balance, but his touch assured her that if she fell over, he would catch her. She felt a breeze as they went outside. She took a deep breath, as this was her first amount of fresh air in days.
"Can I open them?" she asked
He led her forward a little more, then gently let go of her hooves and whispered in her ear. "Alright. Now."
She opened her eyes and gasped. Surrounding her were acres of plants and flowers of all species and colors. There was an especially large patch of tulips, her favorite. Running about were hundreds of animals, many she recognized from home, but others from elsewhere. She saw kangaroos, toucans, and many more. Everything was vibrant, colorful, the kind of things you would never expect to see in the Everfree Forest. She also noticed they were still floating on the floating ground, but this garden had been added to the clump of earth.
"I brought all your little friends from home," Discord said. "I also brought a few others I thought you would be interested in. Do you like the tulips? I know they're your favorite. I also made a gazebo." He pointed towards it. "You know, in case you want to sit in the shade. Otherwise, there are big trees." He led her to a glimmering pond. "And look, a home for your ducks and fish, also good for swimming. I even put a bridge!"
Her silence made him frown. Then his ears drooped. She hated it. He knew the food dispenser was too much.
"I…" Fluttershy stammered, still staring at the scene. "I…I don't know what to say."
"A thank you would be nice," Discord muttered sadly.
Suddenly, the pegasus did something unexpected. She attacked him around the waist with a hug. The draconequus perked up his ears, tensed his body and widened his eyes at her touch. No pony had ever looked at him as she did. him like this before, let alone hugged him. Such a touch was new and strange…and pleasant.
"This is the most wonderful thing any pony has ever done for me!" she exclaimed. "Thank you! I love it so much!"
He looked down at the pony and saw what he had been hoping to see for the past few days: a smile. A true, happy smile that made her beautiful face even more beautiful. Her crows feet were pronounced, wrapping along her cheeks until two circles of pure enjoyment enraptured her smile.
He felt a tug in his chest, as his heart started beating, perhaps for the first time in millennia. It beat even faster as the pony's face nuzzled into his fur.
Slowly, and hesitantly, he wrapped his arms around her small frame, and muttered, "You're welcome."
Fluttershy pulled away as she heard a squeak and let out another gasp.
"Angel! I thought I'd never see you again!"
Discord watched as she flew to her beloved bunny. Other animals surrounded her, delighted to see her. He could not take his eyes off her. That pony, that kind, gentle, beautiful little pony. Her teal eyes sparkled with joy, her pink mane flowed in the mild breeze and her excited voice was like a tingling bell. His heart pounded faster with every second he watched her, until it was about ready to leap out of his chest.
What was this strange sensation developing inside him? He did not know what it was, but it caused a big smile to spread across his face.
In the Ponyville library, Twilight read the message they had received:
"Dear ponies, do not look for animals. They are at my place, with their owner. Your unfriendly neighborhood Discord."
Rainbow Dash looked at the note. "Why did he use letters from magazines?"
"To hide his identity!" Pinkie exclaimed. "Oh, but he signed his name, and…we know who he is, because he has Fluttershy…"
"Why would Discord take the animals for Fluttershy?" Rarity questioned
Applejack glanced at rarity. "Ponies will do anything to please the ones they love."
"Discord? Love?" Rainbow Dash laughed. "That's a hoot!" But she hovered tightly knit as she felt the mare's gaze turn to her. As she looked towards her, the mare turned her face away, hidden in her hat.
She admired her built structure and fluffy hoof fur as the others spoke.
"Doesn't this break the deal?" the dragon inquired. "I mean he can't use his magic outside of the forest, right?"
Twilight exchanged a glance with Applejack before answering, "I think we can make an exception for this one."

Friendly reminder that English is not my first language. You can check my Masterlists both in English and Polish here.
In one of the conversations, Aether and Paimon once again hear the name of a mysterious person whom they have not met before. Who is [Reader]? Driven by curiosity, they decide to ask directly...
Tumblr media
Shikanoin Heizou
✧ [Reader]? How could you not have heard of her after being in Inazuma for so long? They help me with my investigations. We are partners in crime! Are you not laughing? It was just a joke! I like to do things my own way but everything we do is legal... well, almost. Sometimes you have to kick people to get them to cooperate. Usually I kick and [Reader] asks. We'll have to switch sometime... Enough talking, time to get back to work!
Tumblr media
Diona Katzlein
✧ One of my best clients. You've never seen  them in a bar? Of course not, you fools! The best customers are those who don't drink! If they come, they will buy only juice. Without alcohol.
They helped me move my father a few times when he drank too much... I know I can always count on them.
Tumblr media
Rosaria
✧ Why are you asking about them? Don't you have anything better to do?
If you must know, they seem suspicious to me. I can hear you loud and clear, Paimon, you are not very good at whispering. And no, not everyone seems suspicious to me, where did this remark come from? Every time I see [Reader] there are Fatuis nearby. Of course, I investigated the matter. I haven't caught them doing anything yet but I advise you not to hang out with them...
Tumblr media
Kamisato Ayato
✧ Ohohoho, someone here is interested in one of my best employees! Why if I may ask? Just curiosity? All right, I believe you.
[Reader] is one of the hardest working people here. Well, maybe only Thoma would be able to beat them in this area. They are very intelligent, have a sense of tact and elegance. They are also, of course, extremely beautiful and charming. Dreamy eyesight? I think you can say that, indeed. For them, I would be ready for anything, so I wouldn't recommend destroying our beautiful friendship by doing anything that would make them sad. We understand each other? Great!
Tumblr media
Amber
✧ They are a knight of Favonius! They work in a different department than me but you know that I am one of a kind. I'm sure you'll meet them soon.
If I had to compare them to someone, they're a bit like Lisa and Kaeya. They're a terrible flirt but in a good way. Am I the only one who finds good in everyone? No way... I'm telling the truth! [Reader] always gives genuine compliments to others. Sometimes after hours they collect flowers and then distributes them in the market. The girls in Mondstadt love them. This letter? It's from them, we can open it together... Oh my, I'm red now, right? But not just red because I always wear red. I mean on the face. I will never ever open correspondence from them in front of others again... Let's go and forget this ever happened. What a discredit...
Tumblr media
Xinyan
✧ Do I know my biggest fan in these are? Sure! Rock 'n' roll conquers Liyue very slowly, which is why it is associated with everyone who goes to concerts. And they're on every one of them.
[Reader] is unique. They like Fontaine but not only because of music. They've been there a few times and admire the culture a lot. They specially brings clothes from there. They're kind of a local fashion freak because they don't dress like anyone here. I think if you meet them, you'll know it's them. [Reader] is the only person in the port who knows so much about this nation. If you are going to sail to Fontaine, they're the right guide.

Hey look a compliment, that's nice. "Nah. That was more Seth's or my sisters thing. No time to study when there was work to be done and better shit to do. I was referring to the mark, if your girlfriend tries something because she can't handle the truth then you'll be the one trying to piece her back together. And I don't think anyone wants that."
Is he intentionally ignoring Lute? Yeah.
Tumblr media
A vexed trench cements itself between ashen brows, not particularly fond of the first man's surly offshoot's implications; that she is both ignorant and ungovernable, but the brazen-faced effrontery directed at Adam's character is what's really got her hackles rising.
"Whatever crimes you believe your father to be guilty of have not stopped him from rising to a station of exceptional prestige within the holy kingdom. As far as I'm concerned, that is testament enough to the impeccable integrity of his soul. Integrity which I have personally become intimately familiar with over the course of the many, many years I've been in his service."
A beat of monochrome wings to shake loose a spot of tension.
"You should be proud of him, actually."
Oh, he's good... at looking not interested in what women had to say, that is. But he was by no means better at it than the First Man, so it very much just looks like some kid trying their hand at mimicking one of their parent's posture if anything. And to add insult to injury, Adam wasn't looking at him while he was in his disinterested state. Nah, the alpha energy in the room was more enjoyable to consider and that was coming from his lieutenant, not his son and his prattling.
"Aw, thanks, babe. I am fucking rad. You can call me Radam." His feathers pick up on the oh so subtle raising of hackles by his side, and he muses to her in turn after she's locked in to laying in to him as if every piece she could tear off would gladly be used to lift heaven's general higher than he already was up his own ass.
Still... the mention of a mark perks his ears, and gets the ice in his cup crunching as he gives it a little jarring shake to the vibrations that Lute's wings provide before he steps ahead of her, stalking forward the short distance from Cain. "Oh- look how cute you are, threatening heaven-grade authority." There was a slight slant to the usual melodic tune of his teasing. It sounded testy- a degree of danger that only those of his flock might pick up on since they spent far too much time learning his back and calls.
With a wide, gnashing grin, he came to a stop directly across from his son, one talon fondling his own cheek in a mocking gush while the other continued to rattle the ice around his cup. "Heyyy, bud?" He chirped, leaning in. "...know what most of us want??"
Tumblr media
Tuning out whatever hackling Lute may have been up to behind him now, he quickly squashed the drink cup hard to pop the top off it. "For you to keep..." Keeper. With a flick of the wrist, he slung the rest of the cherry Pepsi and ice in the kid's face, and then the cup too for good measure. "-your hands to your FUCKING self!" His wings were already flared with a crack - aiming to both keep Lute beck and to issue a warning to Cain to back off if he knew what was good for him. Two against one wasn't exactly fair after all. But hey, neither was one with a rock against one.
