regulus is the first one who dies at the right start of the film. marlene is the inevitable lesbian death & the one who panics and tries to go to god for help only to get killed in church. dorcas is the inevitable second lesbian death, but fights back a lot and brutally injures the killer. james is the jock that seems to keep getting targeted by the killer but somehow keeps surviving until he dies with like 20 minutes of the film left. lily is the one the audience believe will be the final girl but she ends up sacrificing herself. wolfstar are the couple that makeout in public with a killer on the loose, so inevitably die gruesomely. emmeline gets turned down by the authorities when she asks for help, and gets killed. peter is found out to be the killer. mary is so final girl energy.

"There you are," Remus says, as though he's said it a hundred times before, and he'll say it a hundred times again. "I've been looking for you." 

As a roadie (merchandising, mostly), there's no reason for Remus to know who you are, nor care, but he seems to like you anyhow. And there's nowhere for you to hang out in your downtime beside hotel lobby's or your literal assigned seat in the minivan, so here you are, in your pyjamas, laying on a random lobby couch with a book smushed to your chest. 

"What?" you ask, wiping the sleep from your eyes. 

"I've been looking for you. You weren't in your room." 

"I share my room with three other girls, one who has sleep apnea." The muscles in your back sing like plucked strings as you sit up. "It's quieter here… You're looking for me?" 

"Mm. Come on. We'll go get a late dinner." 

"I'm in my pyjamas." 

Remus gestures down at himself. "I thought you might be." 

He's dressed down too. Every roadie has their thing —it's hard, learning so many names at once, and eventually people begin to typecast one another as their most defining feature. Yours, to your indifference, seems to have become your more comfortable clothing choices. You're not gross, everything's clean, but is everything acceptable attire for going out into the world? 

"No one will even notice they're pyjamas," he assumes you, holding out his hand expectantly. "They look like jogging bottoms." 

"Remus, they're lavender." 

He pulls your hand toward his chest, encouraging you to stand. "They're nice." 

He ferries you out of the hotel, and you thank your lucky stars you wore your converse rather than the hotel slippers. He's clearly thought about this, offering you a hoodie (your size, clearly swiped from the merchandise van, 'marauders' written in jagged lettering across your shoulders like bat wings) as he explains the details of your trip. 

"First we'll get dinner. Then see a film in the cinema, if you want to? They have the new Exorcist." 

"I love horror." 

"I know." He nods to himself. "And then I have to buy you fresh donuts. James says they're the only way to eat them." 

"You don't have to buy me anything." 

"Sorry, I should say it differently. I'd love to buy you fresh donuts. If that's what you want to do." 

You peek at him from the corner of your eye. "I would've stayed in the lobby if I didn't want to come out with you." 

"In that case," he murmurs, wrapping his arm around your shoulders. 

This is worse than flirting. It feels like an initiation, or a turned tide. You smile at him from under his arm and he visibly pauses, falters, before his own smile hooks and he walks forward with a little more purpose. 

The day moves on as promised. You eat a quick dinner at a mid range restaurant before he takes you to the cinema, where he insists he doesn't want any popcorn but eats half of yours anyways. Then he takes you for donuts, and the entire time, you're thinking, what does he want from me? If Remus wanted sex he could fuck a groupie. Half the techs would crawl into bed with him if he asked. Maybe he's just gentlemanly? 

But why would he wanna fuck you? Ignoring any self-esteem issues, you're in cuffed bottoms and bare-faced, and he has no reason to believe you'd be any good in bed. 

He might want something slower, he decides. It's easier to believe when he asks if he can hold your hand on the walk home. 

"What?" you ask, sure you heard him wrong. 

"Can I?" he says, offering you his palm. 

It's different from his pulling earlier. You give him your hand and he squeezes his fingers between yours slowly, as though savouring the feeling.

You shake your head. "Was this…" 

Remus waits for you to finish. It's hard to ask under the weight of his gaze, happy but with that air of knowing you can't quite crack. He always seems so put together, even when he's asking for things, like any answer you give is one he's prepared for. 

"Was this a date?" you force out. 

"That depends. Did it go well?" 

"I would've said yes, if you asked me." 

Remus leans in like he's telling a secret, his voice hushed to match. "I know," he says gently, the tiniest hint of smugness threaded in the slight scratch of his voice. "That's mostly why I didn't ask." 

"Mostly?" 

"I couldn't face rejection. Not from you." His eyes light with an emotion you can't name. "But if you still want to reject me, I'll cope. It might be good for me, actually, it'll give me some material. Nothing makes for better music than losing a pretty girl." 

You fluster at his wording. "I would've worn something nice," you say apologetically. "If I'd known. I would've made an effort to look nice." 

"You always look nice. You think I'm put off by your pyjamas?" 

"Stop," you mumble, mortification creeping in. I can't believe I just went on a date with a rockstar in my pyjamas. 

"It's cute. You're cute, I love that you can fall asleep anywhere–" 

"Stop!" 

Remus laughs and pulls you that last inch into his side, elbow to elbow, hip to hip. "I can't. Teasing you is half the fun. It's why I haven't mentioned the powdered sugar on your lip." 

You sigh and turn your face away from him, wiping your lip with your sleeve. "You always do this." 

"Don't wipe it off, I'll get it. It'll taste sweet." 

You take your hand out of his. "Did you want this to be a date? I'll change my mind." 

He's kinder after that, and when he rubs your shoulder like he knows you need it, you almost pass out.

Echo stood with his arms crossed and tried to keep the smug smile off his face.

He didn’t try too hard.

Omega held up the cup and paper to peer at it. “It’s only a tiny one!” she exclaimed with a giggle. “What’re you so afraid of?”

Wrecker, Tech and Hunter continued to cower on the far side of the Marauder. Wrecker had somehow, impossibly, climbed into Hunter’s arms and Hunter’s knees quaked with the effort of holding him up. Tech had retreated to the top bunk and peered down owlishly at Omega and her prize.

“Many species of spider are venomous,” he informed her curtly. “It is wise to be cautious until we can determine the identity of this… unexpected interloper.”

Omega watched the spider skitter around the paper, trying to climb the sides of the glass, unable to gain purchase on the slippery surface. She turned to look at Echo.

“Why’re they like this?” she asked, jerking her head towards the rest of the Batch.

Echo grinned. “I heard that when they were cadets, Tech downloaded what he thought was a documentary about spiders. He was interested, see, because there are no native arachnids on Kamino.” He looked at the other three with mischief dancing in his eyes. “Turns out it was a horror film.”

“An honest mistake,” Tech defended himself.

Omega thrust the glass towards the three of them. “Want a closer look?”

As one they recoiled further, Wrecker moaning softly. “Hunter, make her stop!”

“Omega,” said Hunter, his usually firm voice wavering. He spoke slowly and carefully. “Please take the spider outside and release it. Preferably far away from the Marauder.”

“Poor little guy,” said Omega, bringing the glass up to her eye level again. “Oh well. You’ll probably be happier staying on the planet anyway.”

“Spiders and space travel don’t mix,” agreed Echo, placing his hand between her shoulder blades. “Come on. Let’s find somewhere to release our eight-legged friend.”

As he escorted Omega from the ship she asked, “Who told you they were scared of spiders?”

“Crosshair did. See, he wasn’t scared by the film, so he’d always try and find them to leave in his brothers’ beds…”

what do you think the marauders characters favorite current movies would be ya know like if they wouldn't have died.

uhh i’m! not a big fan of movies (i don’t watch tv or anything that much in general) but! i will try!

i think james would be an action films fan (honestly, i think he’d like indiana jones (i watched one of the movies and i thought it was pretty neat), and he also likes dwayne johnson movies), sirius like horror movies, but also thriller (scream is one of his favourites), peter would never admit it but he’s a huge fan of hallmark christmas movies and comedies, and remus likes romcoms, but prefers serials (he likes having something to watch for longer periods of time).

lily’s favourite movie is, hands down, mamma mia, she adored it from her first watch and she watched it more than five times, marlene likes horror, books and movies alike, (her favourite is child’s play, though) mary is a huge fan of sappy movies and thrillers, and dorcas likes anything that has a psychological aspect to it.

Tombs of the Blind Dead begins with a trio of friends getting together for a camping trip that quickly turns into bloodcurdling horror as a legion of long-dead Knights Templar rise from their graves in search of human flesh! When the Templars were originally executed for their cannibalistic rituals, they were hanged outside to die as crows pecked out their eyes. My opinion of you? Hmmmm. Well honestly, my opinion of you… really fucking good.

I dunno how comfortable you are with compliments so i’m putting a little warning here; compliments incoming :)

Firstly, you are an awesome writer. Like genuinely. Plus it’s so impressive that you write/post those microfics everyday, it’s serious (sirius haha) dedication, and most ppl wouldn’t have it in them to keep a routine like that. 

Two, you have legit saved people. People here felt safe enough to ask you for help, and from all i’ve seen, you’re damn good at giving advice. 

Plus I saw that one anon you answered where you told the person not to admit they cheated if it’d get them in more trouble than they deserve, and I salut you for that. (I remember you also told them that cheating is wrong and mostly don’t do it- don’t worry I got the right message). 

Anyway, my point is, there aren’t many places people feel safe enough to talk about their problems or insecurities or even dangers. Especially on the internet. So you’ve made a really good community here. You should be proud. 

But we’re doing full honesty right? So honestly, I think that it seems like sometimes you don’t have enough faith in yourself. 

I mean your fics are amazing, but also, they’re fucking free and a gift to the fandom. So you shouldn’t feel the need to meet anyone’s demands or be good enough for anyone but yourself. 

And here, you have helped so many people, I understand insecurity is a part of living, but maybe you don’t get how helpful your blog is. Whenever I come on here, you’ve posted a microfic or made a marauders joke or truly helped someone (with annoyingly good advice btw, i’m an adult and yet NO WHERE NEAR as mature, so good on u), and it’s soothing. You’re soothing.

Give yourself credit, is what i’m saying. 

You’re allowed to feel proud that you help people, proud that people love your writing, and ignore anyone who’s an asshole cause they’re dumb anyway.

And don’t forget that you don’t owe anyone anything. You don’t owe anyone a fic, or a tumblr post or an anon answer or even (within reason) kindness. You’re being generous with your time and your kindness by helping people. And while obviously that’s a good thing, you shouldn’t feel pressured to do so. 

Wait let me rephrase that- anyone who pressures you to do so is a bad person and should be strongly ignored. 

You don’t have to apologise for not wanting to post or be on social media. And anyone who cares should value that you’re taking time for yourself. 

Plus, and sorry if it’s weird to bring up your like, real life, but I think you’re probably a really great teacher. I didn’t have many people who believed in me growing up and you seem like someone who believes in people. And that’s what matters most. 

(Plus all teachers are criminally underpaid so like- good for you sticking with a half shitty job- though then again all jobs are half shitty) 

Also, and in this day and age this is a truly high compliment, you don’t seem like you’ve ever sent hate. 

You just have that vibe. You know… nice :)

So yes, that is my opinion of you.

Also, random question, how much gory stuff in films can you take? Usually i’m pretty alright, but I watched a pretty gross film earlier and it reminded I can’t watch everything gory.

its anyones guess at the moment bc i keep bouncing around haha right now though i’m working on this fic that takes place over the course of one evening and it’s about a group of old school friends (marauders and co) that all stop their busy lives for an evening and come together to have a dinner party.

and over the course of the evening literally everyone’s secrets come out. lies, scandals, secrets, betrayals,, everyone sucks and they’re all backstabbing one another and it’s very dramatic and scandalous and everyone’s world is rocked and why? idk bc i think it would be a fun character study for me to write. smth smth abt people being the worst versions of themselves and being loved anyway. brothers being wretched to each other but loosing it when other people are wretched to their brother yk

i’m doing a horrible job at explaining this but if you’ve seen the french film nothing to hide it’s very much like that sans the phones and the bad ending!!!

It’s so wild to think about that less than a year ago I only had six posted fics to choose from and now I have thirty-seven. So this was a hard choice… but in no particular order, here are my tentative top five!

Midnight Marauders - My longest fic, clocking in at more than 17k! It’s for The Great Ace Attorney, and chronicles how a young Herlock Sholmes met, befriended, and eventually moved in with a certain traumatized doctor, with a mixture of humor, drama, and warm-hearted pathos. I hadn’t read A Study in Scarlet when I started writing this, so the meeting is wholly original! (Perhaps Iris took some creative liberties.)

The Musgrave Ritual Sacrifice - My second-longest fic at more than 14k! It considers how the events of canon Sherlock Holmes story “The Adventure of the Musgrave Ritual” might have played out in the eldritch horror universe of Neil Gaiman’s “A Study in Emerald”. Follow the brilliant detective, his partner, and their quiet, fond romance through a world of terror, mystery, and doubt.

i’ve studied how to properly love - Did you ever watch Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century and think to yourself, “Jesus Christ, the deeper implications of this children’s cartoon are absolutely horrific”? Then this fic is for you! It manifests as a journal written not by Watson, but by his robot imitation, as he worries over the newly-resurrected Holmes (who has convinced himself the robot Watson is the real man he loved), the self-destructive, guilt-ridden Beth Lestrade, and his own feelings, sentience, and sense of self. One of my favorite things I’ve ever written, actually.

A Proper Celebration - A sequel to an adorable Jeeves-Holmes crossover ficlet by Loremaiden, this is a short little oneshot about Bertie getting published for the first time, and fellow author and lifelong supporter Watson coming from Sussex along with Holmes to congratulate him. By far the fluffiest entry on this list. (And I’m a bit proud of managing a decent Bertie Wooster POV voice that people seemed to like!)

To Taste Death Valiantly - I love the Raffles stories by E. W. Hornung. I also love the 1971 cult film They Might Be Giants, an odd romantic comedy about a man who thinks he’s Sherlock Holmes and the doctor named Mildred Watson who is assigned to look after him. So I thought to myself: what if there was a Raffles version of the same story - but this time they were both girls?? Thus, this is the tale of Sarah “Bunny” Mathers, failed writer and suicidal housewife, and how a chance meeting with a beautiful, delusional burglar gives her a new reason to live. Probably the nichest entry on this list, but I had a lot of fun writing it.

peter is either the bargaining character that tries to bargain and give the killer/s what they want just as he's about to die. or the character secretly on the killer's side that's revealed at the end

definitely giving wolfstar the making out whilst a killer is in their house/car/woods

mary, dorcas, remus, and lily all turning to each other wondering which of them is gonna die first, when they realise they're basically in a horror film cause of the black character dying first trope (i watched the blackening yesterday and the tagline "we can't all die first" gave me this hc. very good film. highly recommend)

sirius is the resident horror film expert that tells them what the killer usually does next (im imagining someone dying and everyone is just screaming over the dying body and sirius is also screaming but then adds in "this is exactly like that scene in wrong turn!"

the screamers are probably mary, remus, and james. not a definite though. i can see it being other people.

marlene gets the most jump scare scenes and emmeline gets the most hearing creaking and footsteps

james is the best at fighting but absolutely hates blood. feel like there needs to be a scene where he's like punching a masked killer and is doing SO WELL. and he gets the killer on the ground and is about to pull the mask off when the killer pulls out a knife and stabs at his hands and chest and shit. and he just screams and backs away staring at his blood until he faints.

as marlene dies, she clutches dorcas' hand and whispers "the lesbians never get a happy ending. apart from fear street... why couldn’t this be like fear street?"

the final girl HAS to be mary. ofc.
