Being a dad wasn’t in Eddie’s plans—especially not as a single dad. He loved his daughter Selene more than anything, but raising a newborn at thirty was a challenge he never saw coming. Her mom, a groupie he met at the Hideout, appeared on his doorstep one day with a tiny bundle and the bombshell news that he was a father. Then, just as quickly, she vanished, leaving Eddie to figure out fatherhood on his own.
At first, it was overwhelming. Sleepless nights, diaper disasters, and the constant worry of not being good enough haunted him. But Eddie rose to the challenge. He became the best dad Selene could ask for. He let her dress him up like a princess—complete with tiara—just to see her smile. He sang girly pop songs with all the enthusiasm of a rock concert, even if his Taylor Swift renditions were hilariously off-key. Selene’s giggles were worth every missed note and awkward dance move.
As she grew, new challenges arose. Eddie was terrified of kindergarten and primary school, haunted by memories of his own school days filled with bullying and the heavy stigma of being a Munson. He worried Selene would face the same judgments and social struggles. The thought of her enduring what he went through kept him up at night. But his love for her was unwavering, and he vowed to protect her from the shadows of his past.
Dating fell by the wayside as Eddie devoted himself to Selene. His wild nights at the Hideout were replaced by Disney movie marathons and bedtime stories. He traded late-night parties for evenings filled with princesses, talking animals, and endless reruns of "Frozen." And truth be told, he wouldn’t trade those moments for anything.
This shift led to the current heart-to-heart with his friend Steve, someone Eddie never thought he'd befriend. As they sat on the couch, Eddie voiced his frustrations.
“You don’t understand, man. I can’t just go out and date any girl now,” Eddie explained, sipping his cold beer.
“I get it, but ever since Selene was born, you don’t go out anymore—not even with us!” Steve said, frustration evident. “You’ve turned into a hermit, man. You need a life outside of Disney movies and bedtime stories.”
Eddie sighed, staring at the flickering TV. “I know, Steve. It’s just... everything’s different now. I can’t just drop everything and go out like I used to.”
Steve nodded sympathetically. “I get that you’re a dad now, but you’ve gotta take care of yourself too. Maybe it’s time to dip your toes back into the dating pool. Who knows? You might find someone who understands and fits into your new life.”
Eddie let out a wry chuckle. “I doubt that. What kind of woman wants a thirty-six-year-old guy with a daughter? Slim pickings, I tell you.”
Steve squeezed Eddie’s shoulder reassuringly. “Don’t count yourself out, buddy. We’ll find you someone.”
Eddie looked at Steve with a hint of resignation. “Forget it, Steve,” he sighed. “I think I’m destined to be alone for the rest of my life.” He rolled his eyes playfully, masking the underlying sadness with humor.
Just then, a small figure emerged from the hallway shadows. Selene stood there, eyes wide and thoughtful. Eddie and Steve turned, momentarily surprised.
Eddie's heart skipped a beat, realizing she had heard everything. He swallowed hard, unsure of what to say.
Selene looked up at her dad with a serious expression. “Daddy, you don’t have to be alone. I can help find you a girlfriend!”
Eddie blinked, taken aback by her earnestness. He exchanged a surprised glance with Steve, who stifled a chuckle.
“Sel,” Eddie started, his voice softening as he knelt to her level, “It’s sweet of you to want to help, but…”
“But what?” Selene interrupted, eyes wide with determination.
“But it’s not that simple,” Eddie explained gently. “Finding someone special takes time, and they have to be someone who understands how important you are to me.”
Selene nodded thoughtfully, processing her dad’s words. “Okay,” she finally said, a small smile playing on her lips. “But when you find her, can we watch Disney movies together?”
Eddie couldn’t help but smile at his daughter’s innocence. “Of course, sweetheart,” he replied, ruffling her hair affectionately.
Steve watched the exchange with a fond smile. “You’ve got quite the matchmaker here, Eddie,” he remarked, patting Eddie’s shoulder.
“Yeah,” Eddie chuckled, his heart feeling lighter than it had in a while. “She’s something else.”
While Eddie and Steve chuckled over their beers, finding amusement in the situation, Selene had already made up her mind: she would find her daddy a girlfriend.
Returning to her room, Selene plopped down on her bed and began to think about all the adult women she knew. Well, there was the librarian, Mrs. Petterson, but she looked like an old owl with her thick glasses and constant "shushing." Then there was the girl from the bakery who always brought cakes for her and her daddy, but she smelled weird—like a mix of flour and something Selene couldn't quite place, maybe too much vanilla.
She briefly considered the nice lady from the grocery store who always gave her stickers, but she remembered her loud, witchy laugh that made her shiver. And then there was Mrs. Hinkley, the neighbor with the ten cats, but Selene was pretty sure her daddy was allergic to cats.
She sighed dramatically and sank deeper into her pillow. Wow… It was so hard to get a girlfriend. It seemed like every woman she knew had some kind of issue or quirk. Just then, a light bulb went off in her head. She sat up abruptly, her eyes wide with excitement. Her kindergarten teacher, Miss Sunshine! Miss Sunshine was perfect—she was always kind, smelled nice, and most importantly, Selene adored her.
With renewed determination, Selene smiled to herself. This was going to work. It had to! She just needed to come up with a plan. After all, if finding a girlfriend for her daddy was this hard, actually making it happen would require all her wits and maybe a bit of luck.
That night, Selene went to sleep with her head buzzing with ideas. Tomorrow, her plan would begin. She could already picture it: Daddy and Miss Sunshine, happy together. Selene smiled to herself as she drifted off, dreaming of all the ways she would bring them together.
The next morning, Selene woke up with the first rays of dawn, excitement bubbling inside her like a fizzy soda. She could hardly contain her enthusiasm as she slipped out of bed and padded over to her dresser. Today was the day her grand plan would begin.
She chose her favorite princess dress, the one with sparkles and a twirl-worthy skirt, and carefully pulled it on. She took extra time brushing her hair, making sure it was smooth and shiny, just like a real princess. Finally, she checked her reflection and gave herself a big, confident smile. She was ready.
Eddie was already in the kitchen, juggling a frying pan and a coffee mug. He was making scrambled eggs and toast, a breakfast staple in the Munson household. He hummed softly to himself, enjoying the quiet morning routine.
Selene bounded into the kitchen, her dress fluttering around her. "Morning, Daddy!" she chirped, her eyes sparkling with anticipation.
Eddie turned, a broad smile spreading across his face at the sight of his daughter. "Good morning, princess! You’re up early today."
Selene climbed onto a chair at the kitchen table, her excitement barely contained. "I have a special day planned, Daddy. It’s very important!"
Eddie chuckled as he placed a plate of eggs and toast in front of her. "Oh? And what’s so special about today?"
Selene leaned in, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. "It’s a secret, but you’ll find out soon."
Eddie raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "A secret, huh? Well, I guess I’ll just have to wait and see."
After breakfast, Eddie and Selene headed out to the car. Eddie helped Selene buckle into her booster seat before climbing into the driver’s seat. As they drove to school, Selene hummed a happy tune, her mind racing with thoughts of how the day would unfold.
Eddie glanced at her in the rearview mirror, a soft smile playing on his lips. "You seem extra happy today, Sel. Anything you want to share with your old man?"
Selene giggled. "Not yet, Daddy. But it’s going to be amazing. You’ll see."
Eddie laughed, shaking his head in amusement. "Alright, princess. I trust you."
When they arrived at the school, Eddie walked Selene to her classroom, as he did every morning. You were already there, greeting students with your usual warmth. Your bright smile and sunny demeanor earned you the nickname, and you was a favorite among the children and parents alike.
"Good morning, Miss Sunshine!" Selene called out as she entered the classroom, her excitement evident.
"Good morning, Selene!" You replied, your smile widening. "You look lovely today. Is that a new dress?"
Selene twirled around, showing off her outfit. "No, but it’s my favorite!"
Eddie watched the exchange with a fond smile before stepping forward. "Morning, Miss Sunshine. How are you?"
"I’m great, Mr. Munson. How about you?"
"Can’t complain," Eddie replied, giving you a nod before turning to Selene. "Alright, princess. Have a great day. I’ll see you later."
As soon as Eddie left, Selene’s determination kicked into high gear. She needed to talk to you and set her plan in motion. She waited patiently until the morning activities started, then approached you with a serious expression.
"Miss Sunshine, I have a very important message for you," Selene said, her voice solemn.
You knelt down to her level, intrigued. "What’s the message, Selene?"
"Daddy wants to meet you," Selene stated confidently. "He said he needs to talk to you about something very important."
Your eyes widened in surprise. "Oh? Did he say why?"
Selene nodded eagerly. "Yep! He said he needs to talk to you about something super important."
Your mind raced, trying to decipher the meaning behind Selene’s words. She assumed it must be related to Selene’s behavior or perhaps a concern Eddie had about her schooling. "Is everything okay with you, Selene?"
Selene beamed. "Everything is perfect!"
You smiled, albeit a bit confused. "Alright, I’ll make sure to speak with him when he comes to pick you up."
Eddie arrived at the school later that afternoon, looking forward to seeing Selene after a long day. As he walked towards the classroom, he noticed you standing by the door, a concerned look on your face.
"Hello!" Eddie greeted you with a friendly smile.
"Hello, Mr. Munson. Could I have a word with you?" you asked, your tone a bit more serious than usual.
Eddie’s smile faltered. "Sure, is something wrong?"
You glanced at Selene, who was busy drawing at a nearby table. "Well, Selene mentioned that you wanted to talk to me about something important."
Eddie looked puzzled. "She did? I mean, I guess there’s always something to talk about when you’re a parent, but I didn’t have anything specific in mind."
You frowned slightly, your patience thinning. "She said you were concerned about something."
Eddie’s expression hardened, feeling a twinge of irritation. "Concerned? No, Selene’s been great! I can’t think of any problems."
Selene, overhearing the conversation, decided to join in. "Daddy, did you ask Mrs. Sunshine to be your girlfriend yet?"
Eddie’s eyes widened in shock. "What? No, Selene, that’s not what we talked about!"
Your cheeks turned a shade of pink, and you folded your arms. "Oh, I see. This is a bit... unexpected."
Eddie tried to regain his composure, his voice tense and a bit louder. "I’m really sorry. Selene must have misunderstood our conversation. We were talking about... well, adult stuff, and she must have gotten the wrong idea."
You nodded, but your expression remained serious. "No harm done, but you should know what your daughter is thinking. Kids have such vivid imaginations, but it’s important to clarify these things."
Eddie rubbed the back of his neck, feeling his frustration rise. "Yeah, she’s definitely got that. I hope this didn’t cause you any trouble."
You shook your head, your smile more strained than genuine. "Not at all, but maybe you should have a talk with her."
Selene looked up at both of you, confused by the adult tension but proud of her efforts. "So, you don’t want to be my daddy’s girlfriend?"
Eddie clenched his jaw, his frustration bubbling over. "Selene, I think it’s best if we leave this to the grown-ups, okay?"
Selene sighed dramatically but nodded. "Okay, Daddy."
You crouched down beside her, your tone softening. "Don’t worry, Selene. Your daddy and I are just friends, and that’s important too."
Selene smiled, satisfied for the moment. Eddie stood up, feeling a mix of relief and lingering irritation.
"Thanks for understanding," he said, his tone sharper than intended.
"No problem at all, Mr. Munson. Have a good evening," you replied, matching his tone.
As they walked away, Eddie couldn’t help but feel a mix of frustration and embarrassment. Despite the awkwardness, he appreciated Selene’s efforts but knew this was just the beginning of what could be a long, complicated journey.
Eddie and Selene walked to the car, Eddie’s mind still buzzing with the awkward exchange with Sunshine. As they buckled in, Eddie couldn’t hold back any longer. He needed to address what had just happened.
Eddie started the car, the engine’s hum filling the initial silence. He glanced at Selene through the rearview mirror, her innocent face reflecting none of the confusion and frustration swirling inside him.
“Selene,” Eddie began, trying to keep his voice calm, “we need to talk about what happened today.”
Selene looked up, her eyes wide with curiosity. “Did you like talking to Sunshine, Daddy?”
Eddie sighed, gripping the steering wheel a little tighter. “Selene, you told Sunshine that I wanted to talk to her about something important. Why did you do that?”
Selene’s face lit up with a proud smile. “Because you do! You told Uncle Steve you wanted someone to share your life with, and I thought Sunshine would be perfect!”
Eddie groaned inwardly, trying to suppress his irritation. “Sweetheart, I appreciate what you’re trying to do, but you can’t just tell people things like that. It caused a big misunderstanding.”
Selene’s smile faded, replaced by a look of confusion. “But I just wanted to help.”
Eddie glanced at her again, his frustration evident but softened by her earnest expression. “I know you did, but grown-up stuff is complicated. You can’t just decide for someone else who they should be with.”
Selene’s eyes welled up with tears, her lower lip quivering. “I’m sorry, Daddy. I just wanted you to be happy.”
Eddie’s heart softened, his frustration melting away at the sight of her tears. He pulled the car over to the side of the road and turned to look at her directly.
“Selene,” he said gently, reaching back to hold her tiny hand, “I know you want to help, and I love you for that. But finding someone special is something that has to happen naturally. You can’t force it or plan it.”
Selene sniffled, wiping her eyes with the back of her hand. “I just thought Sunshine would make you smile like she makes me smile.”
Eddie smiled softly, squeezing her hand. “She’s a wonderful teacher, Selene, and I’m glad she makes you happy. But these things take time, and we have to let them happen on their own.”
Selene nodded slowly, understanding dawning in her eyes. “Okay, Daddy. I’m really sorry.”
Eddie leaned over and kissed her forehead. “It’s okay, princess. Just promise me you won’t try to set me up with anyone again without talking to me first.”
Selene nodded earnestly. “I promise.”
Eddie started the car again, his heart feeling lighter. As they drove home, he couldn’t help but chuckle at the day’s events. Despite the awkwardness and frustration, he knew Selene’s intentions were pure.
Later that night, Selene sat quietly in her room, her little mind racing with thoughts. The plan hadn’t gone as expected, but she wasn’t ready to give up yet. There had to be another way to get her daddy and Sunshine together. She picked up her favorite stuffed animal, Mr. Whiskers, and hugged it tight as she brainstormed.
"What if Daddy invited Sunshine to dinner?" she whispered to Mr. Whiskers. "Maybe then they could talk and get to know each other better."
She nodded to herself, feeling a new wave of determination. Tomorrow, she would find a way to get Daddy to invite Sunshine over for dinner. But for now, it was time for dinner with Daddy.
Downstairs, Eddie was busy in the kitchen, preparing their usual Wednesday night spaghetti. The aroma of garlic and tomato sauce filled the air, making Selene’s stomach rumble. She hopped off her bed and made her way downstairs, her excitement momentarily forgotten as she thought about how much she loved spaghetti nights with her dad.
"Dinner’s almost ready, princess," Eddie called out as he stirred the pot. "Can you set the table for me?"
"Sure, Daddy!" Selene replied, grabbing the plates and silverware. She carefully set the table, making sure everything was perfect.
Eddie brought the pot over and began serving the spaghetti, a warm smile on his face as he watched Selene carefully placing the forks and spoons. They sat down together, the cozy kitchen a safe haven for the two of them.
As they ate, Selene decided to ask the question that had been lingering in her mind for a while. "Daddy, why don’t I have a mom?"
Eddie froze, the fork halfway to his mouth. He put it down slowly, taking a deep breath. This was a conversation he had known would come eventually, but it didn’t make it any easier. He looked at Selene, her big, innocent eyes staring up at him, waiting for an answer.
"Selene," he began softly, "your mom... well, she wasn’t ready to be a mom. When you were born, she decided that she couldn’t take care of you, so she left. It’s just been you and me ever since."
Selene’s eyes filled with confusion and sadness. "But why did she leave, Daddy? Wasn’t she happy to have me?"
Eddie’s heart ached at the sight of her tears. He moved his chair closer to hers and pulled her into his lap, holding her close. "It wasn’t your fault, sweetheart. Your mom had her own problems and she made a choice. But I want you to know that you are the best thing that ever happened to me. I love you more than anything in this world, and I wouldn’t trade our time together for anything."
Selene sniffled, burying her face in Eddie’s chest. "I love you too, Daddy. But sometimes I wish I had a mom like the other kids."
Eddie stroked her hair, his own eyes glistening with unshed tears. "I know, baby. I wish things were different too. But you have so many people who love you—Uncle Steve, Miss Sunshine, and all your friends at school. And no matter what, you’ll always have me."
Selene hugged him tighter, feeling the comfort of his embrace. "I know, Daddy. I’m glad I have you."
They sat there for a while, holding each other, finding solace in their shared love. Eddie knew he couldn’t change the past, but he was determined to give Selene the best future he could. And maybe, just maybe, things would start to look up for both of them.
Later that night, as Eddie tucked Selene into bed, she looked up at him with a determined expression. "Daddy, can we invite Sunshine to dinner? Maybe she’d like spaghetti too."
Eddie chuckled softly, brushing a strand of hair from her face. "We’ll see, princess. Let’s take things one step at a time, okay?"
Selene nodded, her eyes already drooping with sleep. "Okay, Daddy. Goodnight."
"Goodnight, Selene," Eddie whispered, kissing her forehead. He turned off the light and closed the door, feeling a mix of hope and trepidation. Tomorrow was another day, and who knew what it might bring. But for now, he was grateful for the love he shared with his daughter, even if it was just the two of them against the world.
The next morning, Selene woke up with a renewed sense of determination. She jumped out of bed and dressed quickly in her favorite outfit—a bright yellow dress covered in tiny sunflowers. With a smile on her face, she ran downstairs to find Eddie already in the kitchen, flipping pancakes.
“Morning, Daddy!” she chirped, hopping onto her chair at the kitchen table.
Eddie turned around, a spatula in hand, and grinned at his daughter. “Morning, princess. You’re up early today.”
Selene beamed, her eyes sparkling with excitement. “I wanted to see you before you go to work. Are you picking me up today?”
Eddie shook his head as he slid a pancake onto a plate and handed it to Selene. “Not today, sweetie. Auntie Robin’s going to pick you up, remember? I have a late shift.”
“Oh, right,” Selene said, her mind already racing with thoughts of her plan. “Daddy, can we go to school a little earlier today? I want to show you something.”
Eddie raised an eyebrow, curious. “Earlier? How early?”
“Like… really early,” Selene said, trying to sound casual. “Maybe before you usually leave for work?”
Eddie laughed, ruffling her hair affectionately. “Alright, but not too early. I still need to get ready for work.”
Eddie pulled up to the school, glancing at the clock. They were a bit earlier than usual, but not by much. He parked the car and turned to Selene.
“Okay, we’re here. What did you want to show me?” he asked.
“Actually, Daddy, I just wanted to spend a little more time with you,” Selene said, giving him her most innocent smile.
Eddie’s heart melted. “Alright, let’s go inside.”
As they walked towards the school entrance, they spotted you, rushing around with a stack of papers in your hands. You looked frazzled and stressed, clearly having a hectic morning.
Selene tugged on Eddie’s hand. “Look, Daddy! There’s Sunshine!”
Eddie’s eyes widened. “Selene, wait—”
But it was too late. Selene had already run over to you, waving enthusiastically. “Hi, Sunshine!”
You looked up, startled. “Oh, hi Selene. Good morning, Mr. Munson.”
Eddie gave an awkward wave. “Morning. Sorry, we’re here a bit early today.”
You forced a smile, clearly in a rush. “It’s alright, but I’m kind of busy right now. I have a meeting to get to.”
Selene, undeterred, piped up. “Daddy wanted to talk to you again!”
Eddie’s face flushed with embarrassment and a hint of anger. “Selene, I didn’t—”
Just then, another teacher approached you, whispering urgently in your ear. You glanced at Eddie and Selene, then at your watch, your frustration mounting.
“I’m really sorry, but I need to go,” you said, trying to keep your voice calm. “Maybe another time?”
Eddie nodded, feeling awkward and out of place. “Yeah, of course. Sorry to bother you.”
As you turned to leave, Eddie realized that in his haste to follow Selene, he had parked his car in a way that was now blocking yours. You tried to get into your car, only to see that you couldn’t back out.
“Seriously?” you muttered under your breath, turning back to Eddie with a frown. “Mr. Munson, your car is blocking mine.”
Eddie’s face turned red, a mix of frustration and embarrassment boiling inside him. “Oh, crap. I’m so sorry. I’ll move it right now.”
You sighed, your frustration clear. “I’m going to be late for a really important meeting because of this.”
Eddie hurried to move his car, his movements jerky and tense. The damage was done; you were visibly upset, and he could feel the tension building. As soon as he reparked, you got into your car, throwing him one last irritated glance before driving off.
Selene stood by the curb, her face falling as she watched the scene unfold. Eddie walked back to her, his expression a mixture of anger and embarrassment.
“Daddy, I—”
Eddie cut her off, his tone harsher than he intended. “Selene, what were you thinking? You can’t just drag me over to talk to Sunshine.”
Selene’s eyes welled up with tears, her lower lip trembling. “I just wanted you to be happy, Daddy…”
Eddie’s anger softened, replaced by a pang of regret. He knelt down and pulled her into a hug, feeling her small body shake with sobs. “I know, baby. I know. But we need to think things through before we act. You can’t just spring stuff like this on people.”
Selene sniffled, nodding against his chest. “I’m sorry, Daddy.”
Eddie sighed, rubbing her back gently. “It’s okay, Sel. Let’s just get you to class, alright? We’ll figure this out.”
As he walked Selene to her classroom, Eddie couldn’t shake the feeling of frustration and embarrassment. This wasn’t how he wanted things to go, and now he had made things even more awkward with you. The misunderstanding was only growing, and he worried about how they would ever get past it.
Later that day, Auntie Robin arrived to pick up Selene. She noticed Eddie’s tense expression and Selene’s subdued demeanor.
“What happened?” Robin asked, concerned.
Eddie sighed. “Long story. Selene tried to play matchmaker again, and it didn’t go well.”
Robin shook her head with a sympathetic smile. “Kids, huh? Don’t worry, dingus. It’ll work out eventually.”
Eddie nodded, hoping she was right. As he watched Robin drive away with Selene, he couldn’t help but wonder how he was going to fix this mess. And more importantly, how he could protect Selene’s heart in the process.
He spent the rest of the day feeling uneasy. As he went through his work shift, his mind kept drifting back to the incident at school. He couldn’t shake the image of your frustrated expression or Selene’s teary eyes. He knew he had to make things right.
During his lunch break, Eddie sat in the break room, staring at his phone. The idea of apologizing made his stomach churn with nerves, but he knew it was the right thing to do. He dialed Robin’s number, hoping for some advice.
“Hey, dingus! How’s it going?” Robin’s cheerful voice greeted him.
“Hey, Robin. I need your help with something,” Eddie replied, his voice heavy with the weight of his thoughts.
“Sure, what’s up?” she asked, sensing his seriousness.
Eddie took a deep breath. “It’s about this morning. Selene and I had a bit of a run-in with her teacher. It was really awkward and… I kind of snapped at Selene.”
Robin listened patiently as Eddie recounted the events of the morning. “Sounds like a rough start to the day,” she said sympathetically. “But hey, kids have big hearts and even bigger imaginations. Selene was just trying to help.”
“I know,” Eddie sighed. “I feel terrible. I need to apologize to her, but I just don’t know how to go about it.”
“Well,” Robin began thoughtfully, “why don’t you write her a note? Explain what happened and say you’re sorry. It’ll show you’re sincere.”
Eddie nodded, feeling a bit of relief at having a plan. “Thanks, Robin. I’ll do that.”
After work, Eddie picked up Selene from Robin’s house. As they drove home, Selene sat quietly in the back seat, her earlier enthusiasm dampened by the morning’s events.
“Hey, Sel,” Eddie said softly, glancing at her in the rearview mirror. “I’m going to write a note to Miss Sunshine to apologize. Do you want to help me?”
Selene’s eyes brightened a little. “Can I draw a picture for her too?”
Eddie smiled. “That’s a great idea, princess. I’m sure she’d love that.”
Once they were home, Eddie and Selene sat at the kitchen table. Eddie began writing the note while Selene drew a colorful picture of their family, complete with you standing next to them with a big smile.
Eddie’s note:
"Dear Y/n,
I wanted to apologize for the misunderstanding this morning. Selene and I didn’t mean to cause any trouble. She was just excited, and I didn’t handle the situation as well as I should have. I’m really sorry for blocking your car and making you late for your meeting.
Thank you for your understanding, and I hope we can move past this.
Sincerely, Eddie Munson"
Eddie read the note out loud to Selene, who nodded approvingly. “That sounds good, Daddy.”
“Alright, let’s put this together,” Eddie said, taping Selene’s drawing to the note. “We’ll give it to her tomorrow.”
The next morning, Eddie felt a mix of nervousness and anxiety as he and Selene arrived at the school. They waited until you had a free moment, then approached you with the note and drawing in hand.
“Hey,” Eddie began, his voice earnest. “I wanted to give you this. It’s an apology for yesterday.”
You took the note and drawing, your expression softening as you read Eddie’s heartfelt words and admired Selene’s artwork.
“Thank you, Mr. Munson,” you said, smiling at Selene. “And thank you, Selene, for the beautiful drawing.”
Eddie felt a wave of relief wash over him. “I’m really sorry for everything. It won’t happen again.”
You nodded, the tension between you easing. “I appreciate the apology. Let’s just start fresh, okay?”
Eddie smiled, feeling hopeful for the first time in days. “Sounds good to me. Have a great day, Miss Sunshine.”
The school day was moving along smoothly, but you couldn’t help but notice that Selene seemed quieter than usual. Typically, she was a bundle of energy, chatting with friends and eagerly participating in activities. Today, however, she was more subdued, her usual spark dimmed.
During arts and crafts time, Selene sat at her table, her crayons barely moving across the paper. You watched her for a moment, concern growing. Deciding to check in, you walked over and knelt beside her.
“Hey, Selene,” you said softly. “What are you drawing?”
She looked up at you with big, sad eyes. “I’m drawing my family,” she said quietly. On the paper, you saw a simple drawing of a house, with stick figures representing her and her dad. There was also a faint outline of a figure beside them, but it was left unfinished.
“That’s a lovely drawing,” you said, trying to encourage her. “Who’s that?” you asked, pointing to the unfinished figure.
Selene hesitated, her lip quivering. “I wanted to draw my mom, but I don’t really know what she looks like.”
Your heart ached for her. You knew from previous conversations with Eddie that Selene’s mother wasn’t in the picture, but seeing the impact it had on her was heartbreaking. You placed a gentle hand on her shoulder. “It’s okay, Selene. Your drawing is beautiful just the way it is.”
She gave a small nod, but her eyes remained downcast. “I just wish I knew her,” she whispered.
You took a deep breath, trying to find the right words. “I know it’s hard, sweetie. But you have your dad, and he loves you very much. And you have all of us here, too.”
Selene offered a small smile, but it didn’t reach her eyes. “Thanks, Miss.”
The rest of the day, you kept an eye on her, making sure she felt included and supported. As the school day ended, you saw Eddie arrive to pick her up. You decided it might be a good idea to talk to him about Selene’s mood.
“Hi, Mr. Munson,” you greeted him as he approached.
“Hi,” he replied, managing a smile. “How was Selene today?”
You hesitated, not wanting to alarm him but feeling it was important to share. “She was a bit quieter than usual. I think she might be feeling a bit down.”
Eddie’s brow furrowed in concern. “Really? Did she say why?”
“She mentioned something about her mom,” you said gently. “I think she’s just having a hard time with it.”
Eddie sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. “Yeah, she asked me about her mom other day, I tried to explain, but it’s tough. She doesn’t understand why her mom isn’t around.”
You nodded, understanding the difficult position he was in. “If there’s anything I can do to help, please let me know.”
“Thanks,” Eddie said, his gratitude evident. “I appreciate it.”
As they walked away, you couldn’t help but feel a deep empathy for both Eddie and Selene.
Later that evening, as you prepared for bed, you couldn’t stop thinking about Selene’s sad eyes and Eddie’s worried expression. You resolved to keep an extra close eye on Selene in the coming days, doing whatever you could to bring a bit of sunshine back into her life.
Over the next few days, Selene’s sadness seemed to deepen. Her usually bright eyes were often downcast, and her infectious laughter was rarely heard. It was as if a cloud had settled over her, and it worried you deeply.
In class, she no longer eagerly raised her hand to answer questions or shared her imaginative stories with the group. She would sit quietly, barely engaging in activities that she used to love. During recess, instead of running around with her friends, she would find a quiet corner to sit and watch the other kids play.
One morning, as you were preparing for the day’s lessons, you noticed Selene sitting alone on the swings. She was gently swaying back and forth, her gaze fixed on the ground. You decided to take a moment to check on her.
“Hey, Sel,” you said softly, sitting on the swing next to her. “Do you want to talk about what’s been bothering you?”
Selene shrugged, not meeting your eyes. “I miss my mom,” she said quietly. “I don’t even know her, but I miss her.”
Your heart broke for her. “I know it’s really hard, sweetie. It’s okay to feel sad and miss someone, even if you haven’t met them.”
She nodded, her small hands gripping the chains of the swing tightly. “Daddy tries to make me feel better, but I can tell he’s sad too.”
You sighed, wishing there was more you could do to ease her pain. “You know, Selene, you have a lot of people who care about you. Your dad and all your friends here. We’re all here for you.”
She gave a small nod, but the sadness in her eyes remained.
Eddie was at his wit's end. He’d noticed the change in Selene’s behavior, and it tore him apart. She was his world, and seeing her so downcast made him feel helpless. Every evening, he tried to cheer her up with her favorite activities – watching Disney movies, playing dress-up, reading her favorite bedtime stories – but nothing seemed to lift her spirits.
One night, as he tucked her into bed, he tried to talk to her again. “Selene, sweetie, I can tell you’ve been really sad lately. Can you tell me what’s going on?”
Selene looked up at him with teary eyes. “I just miss my mom, Daddy. I don’t understand why she’s not here.”
Eddie’s heart ached. He wished he could give her the answers she needed. “I know, sweetheart. I wish I could change things, but sometimes people make choices that hurt us, even if they don’t mean to.”
Selene sniffled, wiping her eyes. “Will she ever come back?”
Eddie swallowed hard, feeling the weight of her question. “I don’t know, Sel. But what I do know is that I love you more than anything, and I’m always going to be here for you.”
Selene nodded, her little face still filled with sadness. “I love you too, Daddy.”
As she drifted off to sleep, Eddie sat by her bedside, feeling a mixture of anger and sorrow. He hated that he couldn’t make things better for her, that he couldn’t erase the pain of her mother’s absence.
The following day, Eddie arrived at school early, looking more haggard than usual. You could see the worry etched on his face as he walked Selene to her classroom. After she settled in, he approached you, running a hand through his hair.
“Hey,” he began, his voice strained. “I’m really worried about Selene. She’s been so sad, and I don’t know what to do.”
You nodded, understanding his concern. “I’ve noticed it too. She’s been very quiet and withdrawn. Have you thought about maybe talking to a counselor? It might help her to have someone to talk to about her feelings.”
Eddie sighed, leaning against the doorframe. “Yeah, I’ve thought about it. I just want to fix it myself, you know? I hate seeing her like this.”
“I know,” you said softly. “But sometimes, we all need a little extra help. It doesn’t mean you’re not doing enough; it just means that there are people who can support you both.”
He nodded, looking down the hallway where Selene was sitting quietly at her desk. “I’ll think about it. Thanks, Y/n.”
As the days continued, you kept a close eye on Selene, doing your best to engage her in class and offering her extra support.
As the days passed and Selene’s sadness persisted, an idea sparked in your mind. Maybe a change of scenery and a special treat would help lift her spirits. You approached Eddie one afternoon after school, catching him as he was picking up Selene from her classroom.
“Hey, Mr. Munson,” you greeted him with a warm smile. “I was thinking, maybe Selene could use a little outing to the park this weekend. How about we take her for some ice cream?”
Eddie looked at you, surprise flickering in his tired eyes. “Ice cream?”
You nodded enthusiastically. “Yeah! Sometimes a little treat and some fresh air can do wonders. What do you think?”
Eddie glanced down at Selene, who was quietly packing her backpack. He could see the traces of sadness lingering on her face. “I think that sounds like a great idea,” he said finally, offering you a grateful smile.
Eddie watched as Selene perked up at the mention of ice cream. Her eyes lit up with a spark of excitement that he hadn’t seen in days. He couldn’t remember the last time they had gone out for a treat like that together. Maybe this was just what she needed.
That weekend, Eddie and Selene met you at the park. The sun was shining brightly, casting a warm glow over the playground. Selene ran ahead, eager to explore the swings and slides while you and Eddie followed close behind.
“You’re really good with her, you know,” Eddie said as he watched Selene climb onto the swings.
You smiled, brushing a strand of hair behind your ear. “She’s a special girl. Just trying to help.”
Eddie nodded, grateful for your support. “I appreciate it. And thanks for suggesting this. I think it’s just what she needed.”
As Selene laughed and played, her laughter echoing through the park, Eddie felt a weight lift off his shoulders. For the first time in days, he saw a glimmer of joy in her eyes. Maybe things would be okay after all.
Watching Selene laugh and play brought a sense of joy to your heart. She deserved moments like this – carefree and happy. You glanced at Eddie, seeing the relief on his face as he watched his daughter.
“I’m glad she’s enjoying herself,” you said softly, leaning closer to Eddie.
He nodded, his gaze never leaving Selene. “Yeah, me too. Thanks for suggesting this.”
“It’s my pleasure,” you replied sincerely. “If there’s anything else I can do to help, just let me know.”
Eddie turned to you, a grateful smile spreading across his face. “You’ve already done a lot. I appreciate it.”
As the afternoon wore on, you and Eddie joined Selene on the playground, pushing her on the swings and chasing her around the jungle gym. For a few hours, Selene’s sadness seemed to melt away, replaced by laughter and the simple joy of being a kid.
As the sun began to set, you all sat on a bench, enjoying the last rays of warmth. Eddie glanced at you, his eyes softening with gratitude. “Thanks for today,” he said quietly. “It meant a lot to both of us.”
You smiled warmly. “Anytime, Eddie. She’s lucky to have you.”
He nodded, a hint of emotion in his voice. “And we’re lucky to have you too.”
After their afternoon at the park, Eddie noticed a slight change in Selene. She seemed more like herself again, her laughter returning and a sparkle in her eyes. It gave him hope that maybe things were turning around.
That evening, as they settled in for dinner, Selene looked up at Eddie with a mischievous glint in her eyes. "Daddy, can we invite Miss Y/n to come over for dinner sometime? And maybe we can watch Disney movies together?"
Eddie paused, caught off guard by Selene's request. He glanced at her, unsure of how to respond. The idea of spending more time with you outside of school was both appealing and nerve-wracking. But seeing the hopeful look on Selene's face, he couldn't bring himself to say no.
"Sure, Sel," Eddie replied with a small smile. "I can ask Miss Y/n if she'd like to join us sometime."
The next day at school, you were surprised when Eddie approached you after class. He seemed a bit nervous, scratching the back of his neck as he spoke.
"Hey, Y/n," Eddie started, his voice slightly hesitant. "So, uh, Selene mentioned something last night..."
You raised an eyebrow, curious about what Selene had said. "Oh? What did she say?"
Eddie cleared his throat, trying to keep his tone casual. "She asked if you would like to come over for dinner sometime. And maybe we could watch some Disney movies together."
Your heart warmed at Selene's invitation. "That sounds like a lot of fun, Eddie. I'd love to join you and Selene for dinner."
Eddie smiled, relief evident on his face. "Great. How about this Friday? I can cook something, and we can pick out a couple of Selene's favorite movies to watch."
You nodded, feeling excited about the prospect of spending more time with them outside of school. "Friday sounds perfect. I'm looking forward to it."
As you walked away, you couldn't help but smile to yourself. Selene's idea had sparked something hopeful in both Eddie and yourself.
Friday evening arrived faster than Eddie anticipated. He had spent the entire week trying to decide on a menu that would impress you without overdoing it. Cooking wasn't his forte, but for Selene's sake—and now yours—he was determined to make a good impression.
As he chopped vegetables in the kitchen, Selene sat at the dining table, coloring a picture of her favorite Disney princess. Eddie stole glances at her every now and then, grateful for her infectious enthusiasm that kept his nerves at bay.
"Daddy, are you nervous?" Selene suddenly asked, looking up from her drawing.
Eddie chuckled nervously, wiping his hands on a dish towel. "Maybe a little. I just want everything to go well tonight."
Selene smiled reassuringly. "Don't worry, Daddy. she likes you and me. She'll have fun."
Eddie's heart warmed at Selene's words. He hoped she was right. Just then, the doorbell rang, and Eddie felt a jolt of nerves shoot through him. Taking a deep breath, he hurried to answer it.
You stood nervously outside Eddie's door, fidgeting with the hem of your sweater. Despite your efforts to remain calm, your heart raced with anticipation. You had been looking forward to this evening all week, eager to spend more time with Eddie and Selene outside of school.
When Eddie opened the door, your breath caught in your throat at the sight of him. He wore a simple button-up shirt and jeans, looking handsome and slightly flustered with a hint of a smile on his lips.
"Hey, Y/n," Eddie greeted you warmly, though you detected a touch of nervousness in his voice.
"Hi, Eddie," you replied with a smile, trying to hide your own nerves. "I brought some dessert."
Eddie stepped aside to let you in, and you entered the cozy apartment, greeted by the inviting aroma of something delicious cooking in the kitchen. Selene rushed over, her face lighting up with excitement.
"Miss Y/n, you're here!" she exclaimed, hugging you tightly. "Come see what Daddy's making!"
You laughed, returning her hug warmly. "I can't wait to see, Selene."
As you followed Selene into the kitchen, Eddie busied himself with setting the table, stealing glances at you whenever he thought you weren't looking. He couldn't help but feel a mixture of nervousness and excitement at having you here with them.
"So, um, how was your day?" Eddie asked awkwardly, trying to make conversation as he stirred a pot on the stove.
You smiled, appreciating his effort. "It was good, thank you. How about you? Busy day at work?"
Eddie nodded, a hint of relief in his voice. "Yeah, pretty busy. But I managed to leave early to get everything ready."
The three of you settled into an easy rhythm, chatting and laughing as Eddie finished cooking. Selene eagerly showed you her latest drawings and told you all about her favorite Disney movies. Eddie couldn't help but notice how comfortable you seemed with them both, and it eased some of his initial nerves.
Finally, dinner was ready, and Eddie served up the meal he had prepared—a hearty pasta dish with a side of garlic bread. As you all sat down to eat, the conversation flowed naturally, filled with laughter and shared stories.
Eddie caught himself stealing glances at you throughout the evening, feeling a warmth spread through him every time your eyes met. He was grateful that Selene had suggested this, bringing you all together in a way that felt natural and comforting.
As the evening drew to a close, Eddie cleared the table while you and Selene curled up on the couch to watch a Disney movie. Eddie joined you both after cleaning up, sitting on the other end of the couch with a contented sigh.
As the movie played, Selene nestled against you, occasionally glancing up at Eddie with a knowing smile.
After a delightful evening of dinner and Disney movies, Selene yawned and rubbed her eyes sleepily. "I'm tired, Daddy," she murmured, pushing herself up from the couch.
Eddie smiled warmly at her. "Alright, princess. Time for bed."
Selene nodded, giving you a sleepy wave. "Goodnight, Sunshine. Thanks for coming over."
You returned her wave with a gentle smile. "Goodnight, Selene. It was my pleasure."
As Selene disappeared into her room, Eddie settled back on the couch, his expression relaxed yet thoughtful. He glanced at you, a slight nervousness evident in his eyes.
"That was... really nice," Eddie said, breaking the quiet that had settled over them.
You nodded, feeling a sense of contentment in the air. "Yeah, it was. Selene's a sweet kid."
Eddie chuckled softly. "She is. And she really likes you, you know."
You felt a warmth spread through you at his words. "I like her too."
There was a brief pause as Eddie seemed to gather his thoughts. Finally, he spoke again, his voice soft but determined. "Y/n, I... I've been wanting to ask you something."
Your heart skipped a beat, sensing the seriousness in Eddie's tone. "What is it, Eddie?"
He met your gaze, his eyes searching yours. "Would you... would you like to go out with me sometime? Just the two of us?"
You felt a rush of emotions—surprise, happiness, and a touch of nervousness. But above all, there was a genuine warmth in Eddie's request that made your decision easy.
"I'd love to, Eddie," you replied sincerely, a smile spreading across your face. "I'd really like that."
Relief washed over Eddie's features, followed by a shy smile. "Great. How about we plan something for next weekend?"
You nodded eagerly. "That sounds perfect."
You realized it was late and got up to leave, at the door, Eddie's nervousness melted away as he leaned in slightly, pressing a gentle kiss on your cheek. It was brief but filled with unspoken warmth and the promise of more to come. You smiled softly at him, feeling a rush of happiness as you realized this was the beginning of something special between you.
"Goodnight, Sunshine," Eddie murmured, his voice tinged with affection.
"Goodnight, Eddie," you replied softly, your heart fluttering with anticipation for the days ahead.
It was a perfect end to a memorable evening, and you couldn't wait to see what the future held for all three of you.

fuck it friday

finally back with alive shannon! still not done with the conversation I'm stuck at, but just left it for now and gonna circle back later (and I can't even begin to tell you how much it bothers me that i'm not writing in order now omg) but small progress is happening so yaay! haha here's something from ch3 - buck's pov - it's a longer snippet that I literally just wrote so it's rough but it's something at least haha
prev snippet
___
“Buck!” Christopher exclaims, noticing him first, and he hears rapid footsteps and crutches hitting the floor.
“Hey- shoes!” Eddie sighs heavily, and Buck just knows he’s shaking his head.
“Hey, bud.” Buck smiles, finally turning away from the TV, giving Chris a hug. “How was school?”
“Okay.” he shrugs. “Hi, mom.” Chris adds, turning towards Shannon to give her a hug as well. “How are you feeling?” he asks quietly, concern in his voice, and Buck’s heart melts. From the look on Shannon’s face, so does hers.
“Better.” she smiles, running her hand through his curls with the softest expression on her face, just full of pure love. Buck’s so happy they get to have this, both Christopher and Shannon, that they get this time together they so obviously needed and missed. “Buck’s been keeping me company while waiting for you.” she adds, grinning at Buck.
“What are you guys watching?” Eddie comes closer and sits in the chair, gesturing for Christopher to come over to him, and then helps him out of his shoes. He’s glancing at the TV, probably trying to guess if he knows the show.
“It’s just this telenovela your abuela was obsessed with a couple years ago.” Shannon shrugs, lowering the volume. They’ll have to rewind and see everything they’ve missed. Or maybe look it up and start from the beginning. Buck’s invested already, and she’s fun to watch with, and maybe if they bond over that, things will feel less awkward. “There’s reruns.”
“You’re watching telenovelas?” Eddie looks up at Buck, then at Shannon, and back at Buck, frowning. “Without me?” he pouts, sounding half-teasing. He keeps looking between them, almost nervously. Is he worried that they won’t get along or something? Ridiculous. Buck can get along with anyone if he wants to – well, almost – and he’s gonna try here, for sure – it’s Chris’ mom, he has to.
“Sorry.” Buck chuckles, leaning back against the couch. Eddie finishes helping Chris and stands up again, while the boy takes a seat between Shannon and Buck, grinning from ear to ear. He scoots closer to Shannon, carefully cuddling into her side, her arm coming up around him. “You wanna watch with us?”
“Uh, I’d love to, but dinner won’t make itself.” Eddie moves to go towards the kitchen, but then stops and hesitates. “Uh, Buck-”
“Ugh, you’re gonna cook?” Christopher wrinkles his nose. “Can’t we order something again?”
“My cooking isn't that bad.” Eddie says, mock-offended, crossing his arms. “Right?” he looks at Buck, and then Shannon. Buck winces and takes in a sharp breath, while Shan wrinkles her nose – and Buck sees such resemblance between her and Chris in that moment – but neither says anything. “Unbelievable.” Eddie shakes his head, and Buck and Shannon look at each other over Christopher’s head and crack up. They might be on the same wavelength, that’s good. Teasing Eddie is another common ground, it seems like. “We had take out last night, and the night before, and before that all the food people brought over after-” he pauses, swallowing hard, still not able to talk about the accident, about almost losing her. He told Buck about his abuela and tía, and Bobby, and even Hen and Karen, and some other people from the station bringing some food so he doesn’t have to bother cooking while taking care of Shannon. “Well, what’s left is in the freezer, and I wanted to do something nice and cook, but maybe I’ll just defrost something.” he sighs, defeated, but there’s a small smile playing on his lips. “That okay, boss?” he adds, emphasizing the last word and looking at his son with a raised eyebrow.
“Yes.” Christopher nods, then bursts into giggles.
“Fine.” Eddie turns and starts walking towards the kitchen. “Buck, you coming with me?”
“You need help defrosting? Wow, you are helpless.” he says, winking at Chris, who just laughs again, but then gets up anyway, following Eddie – who’s at the kitchen door already, and flips him off.

(soo ignition teaser thoughts ig)
hmmmm im ngl the trailer itself as a like prelude to what is coming in 5.0 intrigue and plot wise is like. compared to the region teasers that came before w lazzo and overture. its just. its kinda bad im sorry KWKJKWDJKWDJK like okay cool seeing the new cast and production value is high as always (+ music) but its such a middling teaser for the story itself?? it feels like a powerpoint presentation of the cast more than anything narratively coherent with an inherent draw and mystery
like theres mavuika speaking to the flame thingy (xbalanque that u? "one entombed in the primal fire" perhaps????) with some intrigue i suppose as well as her brief thing w capitano. ororon also appearing to be working together or aligned with capitano given theyre standing together there which could make for an interesting plot thread but beyond that its very.... eh. its not giving us a lot to grip onto ya know???? and thats rly a shame especially since i also felt that way abt the teaser in the 4.8 livestream. i wish we got more
and sure theres a tournament wahoo but like. its really Not helping to hype up that thing when half the introduced cast isnt being like "OMG the tournament!!!!1!1 this is HUGE!!!1" (or even. "oh no this is BAD!!!1" to set up basic conflict. like why would they dread it?) but instead just. "oh right... the tournament 🙄🙄" like who thought that was a good idea 😭😭 if the PEOPLE of natlan dgaf abt the big plot event happening then how am i as the viewer supposed to feel majorly invested in it . wow theyre tossing a ball around . wow nobody wants it guess ur tournament is having a bit of a PR issue in the making mavuika lmao
anyway i wouldnt even call myself a true capitano glazer despite being a fatuiHQ enjoyer on the side but like. that hmph still carried welcome capHIMpeaktano truly o7 JWDJWDJKDWJK also did yall see the. anemo-ish turquoise flare when mavuika is confronting (?) him? wonder if thats a thing with her flames or is it implying cap as anemo or sth.... i think itd fit him decent enough but ya. looking forward to HIM for sure
(+ congrats to him for losing the goofy timbs from arles animated short lmao like his design looks so fucking sick now)
character design wise uhhhh. well theres the obvious huge fucking issue here and while id say that hoyo p much already showed their true colors on the matter with sumeru that doesnt rly. make it any less disappointing and egregious wrt all the cultures and peoples theyre So willing to gather inspiration from in all possible aspects Other than the diversity of the people themselves. like its just... bad and such a shame but also not very surprising unfortunately.
(and really it just. looks especially bad given they clearly Can put melanin on people its just... enemy mobs only.)
beyond that i kind of dont have anyone that super catches my eye rn??? mainly because . well leaks moment eek but its basically official info now so basically. xilonens existence as a geo and a 5* (which like . u dont need leaks to guess she will be im sorry jdwjdw) was leaked a bit ago as well as the patch she should appear meaning. im actually in chiori rerun savings mode since its very high chance that she will be back w xilonen if anyone. so thats my plan for now kjdwjkdwjkdwjk
in terms of the actual cast i do like kinich and ororons designs v much, the design motifs of the latter especially are interesting bc those eye-like patterns are almost giving quantum symbol (= black hole imagery) to me???? and thats V interesting especially if hes actually working w capitano and the fatui. now him being a cat boy or whatever animals ears those turn out to be isnt like sth thats huge for Me personally but i do think hes valid and also W for anyone whos into that, congrats guys im happy for u ! but like fr itd be such an insane twist if hoyos Finally introducing the void quantum abyss whatever element w him (and maybe cap too.) bc that symbol Rly is looking Curious. or then hes just electro lol. for kinich its like. yeah fair he might be xiao-tighnari-gaming from minecraft ill admit that but. i do like the color scheme and his outfit a lot JKWJKDJKDWJKD so like i forgive it
w the girlies i overall find them all like. quite nice but so far without any personality + lore known its hard to settle my complete thoughts on them just yet. tho citlali being pink is super refreshing for genshin since we do have a shocking absence of it so like shes definitely one im drawn to, chasca looks interesting and like she could play a bigger part plot wise (maybe?) so that might be neat. both her and citlali being cryo is kinda surprising?? but cool. maybe ill get to unbench my shenhe and play some cryo teams again lmao freeze has been dead in abyss for so long now....
xilonen again w the kemomimi isnt sth im particularly into or not into but she looks cool, depending on personality and how her kit synergies turn out (+ assuming the chiori rerun, the fate of those pulls too), i might try for her as well? theres an Energy to her i like it. if she has proper Attitude and flair thats gonna be a massive bonus for me
mualani i think is rather bland to me, sth about her outfit and design just doesnt click for me even if the shark thing from the teaser before is neat and everything. the chibis are never sth im actively drawn to but like both do look okay, im kinda hoping kachina could be a lynette moment for 5.x and end up a free 4* since her exploration roomba looks p fun
anyway then theres. mavuika and i. well at least the design wasnt. That concept art one (ThoseWhoKnow...) . so instant massive W improvement solely on that basis holy fucking shit but ehhhhh im sorry i still dont know how to feel abt the very modern like. biker bodysuit thingy. im not a huge fan of the bodysuit type designs anyway so its not that surprising but still. her eyes + hair is absolutely stunning tho like not a question at all.
tbh in a way i kinda feel like having too many Thoughts on her design is kinda just unnecessary bc like. shes the archon. of Course the kit is going to be insane so i will get her anyway (UNLESS a pyro onfielder JKWJKJKWJKWJKWFKJ like god please no). and in terms of like is her design and energy from what this vid is giving us good enough that i wont like. Actively resent having to get her for meta and strong teams??? Absolutely. so in that sense ig its all cool lmao
but yeah. idk i just think as a teaser for the upcoming story its rly a shame how weak this felt for me???? like sure overture ended up being a bit of a misleading teaser since it gave the impression of arle as this mastermind of the fontaine AQ which didnt rly happen but it still served as a source of hype and intrigue. and yes lazzo is sth that can Never rly be beat in terms of how out of nowhere it was and how fucking insane the whole harbinger reveal went (+ elogia cinerosa existing) for lore and long term hype but its just. unfortunately those 2 are the regional teasers this natlan one is supposedly meant to parallel and it just didnt deliver anything comparable to those for me
like still looking forward to natlan and seeing the rest of its cast (like im fairly convinced the flame thingy might be xbalanque and hes gonna be a big deal ultimately or sth) and where it goes and all its environments but this trailer didnt rly. grip me the way i wouldve expected it to. which is unfortunate kdjkdwjkwjkdwj but yea thats all

Now that the dust has settled- Honkai Star Rail 2.2 quest, long LONG thoughts (spoilers!)
-To begin with: I thought the overall story stuck the landing with both feet solidly on the ground. On a first level, that’s good enough for me, since I had quite the nagging issues with the Xianzhou ending. On a second level, there’s a few things that are nagging me here too that keep me from waxing poetic, but they can easily be remedied in 2.3, so I’m holding off on a conclusive opinion until we see what comes next.
-The plot twist: I LOVED IT. When we fell unconscious and then everything concluded happily-ever-after, I was so numb. I was like, “Uh… I… guess? I guess it all ended well…?” Admittedly underwhelming but also a happy ending, I didn’t know how to react. When Black Swan told us that the Crew actually lost, I lost my mind along with it, I was so shocked and pumped. Now, part of me wishes the quest had ended there, with 2.3 being us dealing with everything with more room to breathe. Even so, I did love what followed.
-Robin and Sunday: Sunday was canceled in 2.1 after the whole Aventurine thing by me, personally, but I did expect him to have the spotlight in a humanizing way in 2.2. I liked his character approach, I still don’t want him near my dearests. Robin is lovely. The ultimate sister. I really liked how they showed their paths deviating after a single mutual event. I don’t consider their vague ending a plot hole, surely it’ll be dealt with in 2.3.
-Misha: Aaah, my lovely Misha who I love so much. I wasn’t surprised with how it all unfolded, and I loved seeing how his speech changed once he regained his memories and purpose. It was a sweet ending, but also, on a personal note that has no reflection on the story, I wish he remained in the Dreamscape, so that we wouldn’t have a playable character “in loving memory of.” They keep piling up too, with Gallagher also “dying,” and Tingyun (I don’t think she’s dead, but for all intents and purposes she currently is). It’s a little odd, emotionally, to play long-gone Misha.
-Dan Heng & Boothill: The duo we didn’t know we needed! They paired so well together, they were so funny yet competent?! I loved that Dan Heng joined in the action, and I really liked Boothill.
-Trailblazer: HARMONY TRAILBLAZER, SO COOL OMG
-Imbibitor Lunae & Jing Yuan: ICONIC. Fake dream be damned, this was iconic.
-Firefly & Blade: I liked Firefly way more in 2.2 than 2.1. Her personality shone more, and I liked it. I loved seeing her with Blade too (in a suit! Driving!), in a casual non-mara struck conversation. It was nice seeing Blade like that. I don't mind that we don't know where she went or what she did in the end, I'm pretty sure we'll see in 2.3.
-Acheron: I liked what we saw of her, and I really like how she would have destroyed the dream if Preservation wasn’t at play. A double-edged sword, I guess. Did Aventurine do a good thing ‘cause then we wouldn’t have known the culprit/motive/goal, or a bad thing, ‘cause this would have ended much sooner otherwise?
-The gripes: -WHAT DO YOU MEAN ARGENTI SAVED AVENTURINE?! When, even?! ‘Cause he’d already seen him by the time we fought him in the competition. Where WAS AVENTURINE, where did he go, what did he do?! He went to the Reef, Jade said so, but he wasn’t there when we were there, so maybe Argenti saved him before that, but saved him how?! From what?! What happened?! I am BEYOND elated that we saw Aventurine and know he’s alive and well, he’s my fave, but he did All That in 2.1 just for a vague “Welcome back and well done” scene with Jade in the end? What about Topaz and Ratio?! Ratio’s note and help? Topaz and the IPC, from 2.2?! But that’s easily remedied with a flashback in 2.3, which would explain what happened and would showcase Argenti even more, who I assume will rerun next patch, so I’m not condemning anything yet. 2.3 is shaping up to be a direct continuation of 2.2, given the ending.
-Sparkle’s bombs. Could have been a red herring, could be a 2.3 plot point, could be that Sparkle was just living her best life. I hope we’ll get a comment on that in 2.3, ‘cause currently I see it as a loose thread.
-Aventurine’s chip? We still have that, right? And it wasn’t used. Does that mean he can still locate us?
-Did we even destroy the Stellaron?! If no, HUH?! If yes, what’s powering the Dreamscape now?!
-Gopher. Sunday is currently the only one held responsible for everything, when it really wasn’t like that, and even Gopher hinted at a bigger mastermind. What happened with Gopher, where is he?
-The Galaxy Rangers. Are you telling me a whole swarm of Galaxy Rangers descended on Penacony and we get to see none of that?!
But again, some or all of these things can be addressed in 2.3, so I’m holding off on grudges for now. 2.3 can re-frame 2.2 into something spectacular, or land it in the “very good, but-” category.
Also. The voice narration, was it Elio?! Was that Elio?!

Hello! I'm a pretty new tot player (joined mid-june this year) (also new to tumblr and this blog) and I've been loving artem's characterization in his personal and main stories. But I don't really follow cn leaks (bc spoilers) and pulled for artems 2nd anniversary card without much thought. And hated it. I wish I'd found this blog sooner. Your thoughts on his characterization in the newer cards are very articulate and I think you've done a great job of highlighting the important aspects of his character and his dynamics with mc and how the newer cards are missing it.
On that note, can I ask which of his cards post-2nd anniv feature the old Artem and (especially) the og artemrosa dynamics because my mind tends to stick firmly to canon and I'm having a hard time trying to pretend 2nd anniversary never happened. It's fine if the plot isn't too exciting as long as the artemrosa interactions are good and Artem isn't suddenly a suave sex god (or has a randomized hobby as his selling point).
I don't have many of his old cards since I joined late and wanted to know if I should pull for new cards or just wait for the old card reruns.
That's all!
OMG HI!!! welcome to tot land and also tumblr!!!! i hope the fandom's been welcoming here! : D
ah gosh, i think people like you are why i was so anxious about second anniversary dropping on global. i am genuinely SO sorry. it comes out of no where. like it's a very notable drop in quality and shift in characterization, so anyone just pulling for second anniversary thinking it'd be fine just. woof. it's honestly EXTREMELY bizarre.
i really appreciate your kind words though!!! i started tot back during 2021 with the lost gold event, so all i had was the original artem for well over a year and got used to him, so it STUNG when second anni dropped. i totally and completely understand where you're coming from here, we're in this together!!!!!
oh gosh i haven't read ALL of the new cards yet, but i know enough that should be able to help for now. i do plan on watching them once i gather the Nerves to do so and writing a list of the must pulls and the must misses HAHAHA BUT. FOR NOW!!
MR cards can be missed unless if you really like the card art. the audio has always been pretty pointless and skippable. can't think of any SRs coming up for artem. go figure. his au SSRs (bakerlon, etc) are all good and in the clear. worth pulling for, imo, esp if you like the art.
skip any SSRs where it seems like artem is just doing a random new hobby. this includes his billiards, racing, and surfing cards. skip any top up SSRs. aside from saving you money, all of the new top up SSRs are just pure fanservice.
fluffy fuzzy time is in the clear. in all honesty it's baffling that a card where artem is flustered about mc playing with his hair comes after the sex god daddy dom card but whatfuckingever who needs consistency
his upcoming personal story card isn't like, life changing, but it's in the clear from what i remember of watching it. the art is very cute too.
third birthday card isn't amazing, but plot and character wise, it's also in the clear and has very cute art.
the other SSRs i know nothing about, so i can't speak for them yet. my apologies!!!! i'd personally recommend focusing on artem's older cards (i genuinely love all of them except for like. por una cabeza which is just kinda mid), as they are still stronger character wise than the newer ones, but the ones i listed ARE still fine. the game itself likes to only pretend second anni happened every once in a blue moon so it's very very easy to ignore . THANKFULLY.
thank you again for the ask anon!!!! i hope i could help! keep an eye out for when i get to watching all of them, i DO want to make that list HAHA

HIDING MY WANDERER RN, YOU WON’T FIND HIM 🏃‍♀️💨 (/lh) those eight seconds, i ate them up like i eat your writing. it took a lot of patience,, and resin but it was for cyno - worth it! i’m planning on pulling for her, but haven’t had time to farm bc of personal issues so - not counting on a miracle. (HELP LIA THATS A HUGE COMPLIMENT <3 live laugh love nahida.)
yep! he turned 11, and tomorrow my sister turns 9 :) oh,, unfortunately our plans didn’t quite work out, i’ve been a little bummed because of it actually 😵‍💫 but i’m sure i’ll get to see them at some point!
i am LIVING the dream rn, so true! i give him kith. also not him threatening to kill you?? manz better explain himself rn, i got the chancla. HELP?? omg,, invite me to the next therapy session (/hj) omg.. maybe 👀

pure luck?? i thought it was your braincells swooping in to save you 😩 coincidence because i just finished my math test today and now, i'm hoping for the best (holding in tears. there were so many questions abt finance— DARN, I DIDN'T SIGN UP TO BE AN ACCOUNTANT. /j) 🤞 me too, yon, i genuinely hope that you can go back to writing without other people telling you how to be one :( leave my girl yona ALONE or i will come for your kneecaps!! 🐎 (/hj)
NOOOO, GIVE HIM TO ME. (/lh) i have so many intertwined fates, but i can't pull anyone because i have to save my guarantee for his pretty face 😞 FRRRR. hoyoverse did not need to make him look that good if he's not rerun-ing?? they need to be considerate to wanderer non-havers (me) 😦 (/j) i hope the gacha will look down on you with favor and you'll get nahida! and that you get to see your friends too soon (do you already have fun plans for what you're gonna do with them? ( ꈍᴗꈍ)) 🍀
NOT THE CHANCLA?? yeahhh, fling it across his face 🪃 hehe, have a sneak peek for that therapy session you didn't get to join— and idk why but the way i talk so seriously here looks so funny when put together with the name and pfp, PLEASE.
cream stew is one of my fav genshin dishes; it reminds me of carbonara pasta, yummzz! weird question but do you have a fav in-game dish, yon?? which one is it and why >:3c
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
DAYUMMMM. i'm just gonna eat popcorn amidst this war while wanderer and cyno reenact that special program's fight. kazu and yona, come join. 🍿 lucky for me heizou and ayato are both vv civil people.... somewhat. (/j)

Honestly I was so upset when that thing with Sariel happened in WMTSB
To me he's the embodiment of Too good for this world. He didn't deserve this. He barely understood what was happening. I felt legit bad for him. And then Belial went and did that and to see poor Sariel so betrayed really got me.
And then we got the reveal that Belial didn't just kill him and even went out of his way to not kill him and I think that's when I started seeing him in a different light and considered that he might be a lot deeper than innuendos everywhere.
Also shocked that we haven't gotten a playable Sariel unit yet. I want to give him Valentine's chocolate and very patiently explain different holidays to him and watch ants together when the hustle and bustle gets too much.
omg yeah same, pretty much.
When he did that thing to Sariel, i was genuinely so angry at him. Honestly i spent most of wmtsb going back and forth between being so furious at him i wanted to kill him myself, and going "ahah he funni" when he was saying stupid shit.
Personally my turning point WAS the fake suicide moment because his rant actually made me feel a lot, and i was SO distraught by him killing himself that i was just, so unwell, going "wait no come back i didn't mean it when i said i wanted you dead come back" and i've never been normal ever since. But even more so because of what he does AFTER that when he comes back....
... and therefore especially the reveal he didn't just avoid killing Sariel, but the fact he was actually trying to save his life, is what really got to me. Like, there was a clear mention in the epilogue that the power of Avatar in Sariel's wings were going to kill him. if Belial didn't do anything, Sariel was going to die. And Belial took this power inside of himself and bore this suffering instead.
And to me it recontextualizes that when he's horrible to Sariel, belittling him for being so trustful of Belial while Belial would only use him to his ends, Belial was actually pushing Sariel away from him to protect him, both physically by stripping him of this power, and mentally, by refusing to leave Sariel with enough good feelings toward him to sacrifice himself for Belial, just like he was attempting to do right before Belial ripped away his wings.
I think the rant before his fake suicide is one of the first moment we really see deep into Belial's psyche and the way he loathes this life, and it's fascinating.
But it's really the moment we learn that he wanted to save Sariel's life, both from Avatar AND from what Sariel would do by associating himself with Belial, that it really was the moment of. oh. Belial does have a heart under all that filth doesn't he.
It's honestly probably why all of us are here thinking the path of redemption for Belial can only be achieved through Sariel. Because he's really been, weirdly enough, the only person Belial has shown compassion and care for. And that's super interesting from mister "nothing matters expect the man i love (who doesn't love me back)"
but yeah omg i'm shocked we didn't get playable Sariel after the Mole Troupe's event. Like i think it made sense we didn't get any unit for him after 000 (too traumatized, too physically strained by what had happened) or after the Maydays (maybe too jokey of an event, and honestly i feel like we deserve a summer Sariel where he rides Bruce again, but for that he'd need a base unit to make sense of it, so it pretty much threw the idea away for me)
but after the Mole Troupe was the ideal moment to eventually make him playable and they didn't :/ we had Grand Michael and..... wait what did we have that went live at the same time i totally forgot. It wasn't even Mole Troupe related was it?! evil.
Gotta cross fingers that he'll get playable during a Mole Troupe rerun? I would love to see his holidays line too. He'd be so shocked by anyone being nice to him, i could see it gradually be that in the first year he's shocked by the gifts and care, the second year he's surprised it's happening again, the third year he's getting used to it but is still unsure about it, the fourth year he realizes just how happy it makes him and how glad he is all of this is happening, and by year 5 he would genuinely have opened much more about the kindness others people can show him. I see it in my mind. I want it so much.
I hope he gets playable one day... sweet angel deserves it.
One day...

Howdy~! I would like to request a fluffy headcannon in which Leona’s fem! s/o gushes to her friends about his magnificent performance at the Fairy Gala and Leona just happened to eavesdrop on the whole conversation. How would Leona react? Please and thank you!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
—𝙻𝚎𝚘𝚗𝚊 𝙺𝚒𝚗𝚐𝚜𝚌𝚑𝚘𝚕𝚊𝚛 𝙴𝚊𝚟𝚎𝚜𝚍𝚛𝚘𝚙𝚜 𝙵!𝚂/𝙾 𝚆𝚑𝚘 𝙶𝚞𝚜𝚑𝚎𝚜 𝙷𝚒𝚜 𝙵𝚊𝚒𝚛𝚢 𝙶𝚊𝚕𝚊 𝙿𝚎𝚛𝚏𝚘𝚖𝚊𝚗𝚌𝚎—
Summary: Headcanon(s) where Leona eavesdrops his F!S/O who gushes over his fairy gala perfomance. How would he react?
Pairing: Leona Kingscholar x F!S/O.
CW: Fluff, Fairy Gala story spoiler, grammatical error, OOC.
A/N: HEYYA WELCOME SDHFSAWBNFOIAWH (◍•ᴗ•◍)❤ OMG THIS REQ & THE EVENT ALKFNLKFNIOWFHA IM VERY WEAK W/ FAIRY GALA LEONA, FAIRY GALA RERUN 4 THE JP PLAYERS WHEN??? ଘ( ・ω・)_/゚・:*:・。☆
Tumblr media
Ah, yes, the Fairy Gala event. Crowley wants you to join because you must help them. This is actually very unique. Back at your world, there’s nothing like this. It feels fun but tiring at the same time. You see everyone’s outfit is amazing! Crewel did a great job and the makeup as well. It’s Vil’s creation afterall.
But a certain beastman catch your eyes. Leona Kingscholar, your only boyfriend. He’s maybe not the type to wear something formal, but his outfit right now is something you can’t take your eyes off of. How can this man look SO GOOD at literally ANYTHING? You’re lucky to be his girlfriend. Blessed.
His training with Vil already makes your eyes wide. He still needs to imrpove it, but still, it’s magnificent! He’s too perfect, your heart can’t take his beauty anymore.
On the day of the Fairy Gala, you go with Ruggie and Grim to switch the crown. Before Ruggie switches the crown, you get to see Leona’s perfomance with Kalim and Jamil. Ok, for a few seconds you think your eyes see something false.
His perfomance. You stare at his perfomance. Is that REALLY Leona? THAT Leona? You’ve gotta be kidding me. Now you understand why he’s the prince of the Afterglow Savannah and why he’s the Leona Kingscholar.
The aura, expression, posture, etc are just exotic. It’s perfect. It suits him. It matches with his appearance.
After the event, his perfomance and his look are always inside your head 24/7. You can’t help to run to ADeuce with Grim and gush about his perfomance and his look.
Tell them that Leona looks very handsome, cool, exotic, perfect, etc. His perfomance is PERFECT. They don’t believe about it at first, is that true, S/O? He DID that? Wow.
Leona smells his herbivore’s scent; he needs his nap after that perfomance. He hears your voice; it sounds very excited. What are you talking about? You sound very happy.
Oh? What is this? His S/O talks about him? The perfomance is perfect? He’s handsome? HE’S PERFECT? Now, Leona just eavesdrops your conversation with your friends with the biggest smirk he has. He wants to hear about it more. Actually, he prefers if you say it face-to-face to him. But this doesn’t sound bad.
You love him that much, huh, until you can’t stop talking about him. Herbivore, you really are his moodbooster. He’ll be MORE PRIDEFUL after this. Afterall, your words or compliments do have effects on him.
Leona lets you finish your talk and just comes from behind you. You jump at his voice, his flirty and deep voice. Now now, S/O, your big kitty cat is happy to have you in his life. The only person who can complement and gush about him that lovely.
He picks you up on his broad shoulder and takes you to his bedroom. Puts you on the bed and smirks at you. He’ll tease you again in the future about this. Now it’s up to you to tease him back, admit it, or show him your flustered face. He won’t hold back, you start it first, S/O.
“I’m used to compliments. But hearing it from your lips is not that bad... Why don’t you tell me again face-to-face? I’ll listen to you, herbivore”

Normal ask for a normal guy: how would you compare the dynamic Marclayla has vs the one Stevenlayla has? Like their love languages or how they interact on chill days or whatever :-)
OMG FIRST NORMAL ASK FOR THR WORLDS MOST NORMAL GUY YIPPEEE!!!
Ok so I was thinking ab this on the way back home from the club (yes I think ab moon knight while out all the time really is there an issue?) and I b thinking stevenlayla is a lot like Saturday evenings watching reruns of shows on the tv and Sunday mornings feeding ducks by the lake, while marclayala is more Tuesday lunch breaks that they visit each other and eat together and Thursday nights washing plates together in comfortable silence.
Which… makes sense in my head but bear with me. Lemme get into it
stevenlayla: deffo a quality time kind of relationship. From what we've seen in the show, Steven's a pretty… lonely guy. From no fault of his own, but he doesn't have very many people to talk to who actually care enough to listen, really listen to what he has to say. So meeting Layla, someone who not only has the same interests as him but also cares ab him and is able to keep up with him is like, a dream come true. He's not just talking to a brick wall or struggling to keep someone engaged in a conversation he's equally interested and passionate about; he's talking to someone who looks at him when he starts explaining burial rituals and the debates the significance of archaeological finds and will watch documentaries on things they both already know plenty about just to yell corrections at the screen with him. And for a guy who's only company for a long time has been a goldfish who can't respond or a voicemail box to the concept of a mother who doesn't exist or a silent street performer, those moments of quality time, of being together, it's a lot. Being seen, being treated like he exist, like he's an actual person and not something made up, being treated like he matters is a lot. The good kind of a lot, the kind of a a lot he hasn't experienced in… a long, long time.
(So basically it's, you know say it along with me folks (my beloved this one is for u) it's about being seen)
marclayla: ok Marc-y marc. I think for him it's changed. Before The show, I think it was acts of service. So doing things for each other, because it made marc feel useful and he's so so scared of being deemed useless and cast aside. So he did everything possible to make himself essential to whatever it was Layla needed at the time. A bodyguard? Thats him. A thief? Sure. A get away driver? He's got it (even if it was usually Jake but.. I digress). Doing things for her made him feel like a person, that he was good for something other than killing and (not… most of the time) being killed. And when Layla did things for him, it made him also feel seen. Wanted. Like he deserved someone's loyalty and affections and worry and care. Love, really.
But after the show, I think his love language changed to physical touch. It's grounding, it's an anchor, and when she touches him Marc knows she's touching him and not anyone else. There's of course the large gestures of love that he likes. Kisses, hugs, playing with hair, cuddling, that kind of stuff. But I think Marc's fave kind is the tiny, chaste moments that Layla will squeeze in between big moments. The brush of her pinky against the back of his hand when he hands her something to put away, the lightest of taps on his shoulder just to redirect his attention, a lingering finger on his lips. Those are the touches that are just for him, the ones he cherishes the most, the ones that he lives for and make him really feel alive.

hi omg i love you
ahem
SO I'm F2P and really want Xiao and Kazuha. Currently I have 6 wishes (i know) and I was stupid and pulled on the Itto banner for a four star. Aaaand I got a c1 Itto in two single pulls. I was on 14 pity, I don't know how or why he came home but yeah-
Do I still pull for Xiao?? I mainly wanted him because firstly, mmm xiao my love and because I needed a second DPS for spiral abyss. But now that I have Itto, now what--
Do I just skip Xiao and save for Kazuha? I plan to pull on Xiao's banner to 40 pity no matter what, I have maybe 2 pity rn.
oh god/goddess/deity of kazuha pls spare your wisdom
mmm well if you think about it xiao is on the first row of 2.4, kazuha won't be getting a rerun before 2.5
you're lucky, 2.4 is the best update to get lots of primos (new era + events) so i'll say wish for xiao.
i think xiao is more flexible in team comps as a dps than itto, the only difficult thing about him is finding a good weapon and well artifacts,,,
worst case scenario, you don't get him BUT you will be closer to pity for kazuha's banner and at the end of the day, rerun banners are wayyy more quick now so xiao will come back soon enough :)

Pairings:Yandere! Venti x reader
Warnings:4th wall breaking,Slight crack fic,Reader death
(Plz don't let my friends see this lmao)

I chug all of my soda then slam it on the table "Aight, let's go farm for Venti's talent mats" I grabbed my controller then push the left joystick forward, after all of these grinding... I finally manage to get him on his rerun, I was skeptical that he would come home but surprisingly, I did a single pull then I got him, I'm grateful that I got my dream team, Xiao,Diluc,Venti,Bennett I will be saving for a Klee rerun.
My phone beeped a notification, I peek at it and it's my friend gc, I put down my controller then grab my phone
(A/n: Btw, the gc is based of my friend gc lol)

YESSES
A smile plastered on my face, I'm so happy for them! My attention was stolen when Venti decides to say his idle line "Come on Traveler, let's go! The world is full of lost ballads just waiting to be rediscovered." I put my phone down then grab my controller again "Ok ok, I will pay attention to you now" I chuckled humorously "Good! Just don't make me murder your friends."
The moment he said that line, my thumb suddenly stopped pushing the joystick, did he just..... did I just heard that right? Murder... your friends? What does he mean by that? Someone never mentioned this voiceline of his, I should check the character icon. I clicked on the character icon then proceed to his voicelines, I checked every details but I can't seem to find it, maybe it's a bug? The fact that I was talking to my friends.... maybe Mihoyo intended it?
I shrugged my shoulders then continue to the domain to farm for talent materials. After countless of grinding, I started to have fun with his wind current while harassing random hilichurls for fun, I made him sat at the Barbatos statue "You finally came home..." I smiled as I touch the screen, Venti looked at the camera then smiled "That's so cute! He smiles when he looks at at camera!" I awed, I continue to fawn over him.
⌣ ‿ ‿ ‿ ‿ ‿ ‿ ⌣⌣ ‿ ‿ ‿ ‿ ‿ ‿ ⌣
I woke up by the sound of my ps4 opening, the bright light illuminated my body, and to my surprise, my ps4 opened by itself "What the fuck?" I stood up from the bed then went to investigate it. The creepiest thing is that Venti is the only one in my party, and he is sitting at barbatos' hands, and then I remembered the hacked accounts in genshin, this could be a sign..
I hurriedly grab my controller then check my characters, all of them were Venti! I can't find a single character other than him! What's going on!? I check my weapons but they are okay, I checked my profile and nothing changed but my icon was set to Venti, i checked my primogems and fate but nothing changed, in fear of getting hacked, I contacted Mihoyo for customer support, I can't lose Xiao, I whaled for him! I restarted my ps4 then go back to sleep, in hopes that it will be resolved next morning.
I rubbed my eyes then stretch my arms wide, I look at my ps4 then my phone, I grab my phone then text on the gc

Aight, time to report to Mihoyo for free 600 primogems
E_supremacy
Be careful, maybe you're getting hacked? You should change your password incase
VENTI CAME HOME
Yep bro, I will change it
I put my phone down then open my ps4, I prayed to myself that everything is back to normal. Happiness washed over me when I saw that my original party is deployed "must've been a crazy bug.." I chuckled, I change my icon back to Xiao then continue with the grinding "Ooohhh timmie's birds" I smirked, I switched to Xiao then climb the nearest cliff, I glide then plunge on the birds "Free fowls!!" I exclaimed then claim the fowls, my character suddenly switched  back to Venti, I didn't even press anything other than claim fowls "You know I'm getting impatient.." Venti said, again this was not even in his voice lines, then I notice that something is odd with my venti, he kept saying weird lines everytime my attention is drifted to somewhere else, could it be Mihoyo's doings? I hope so, I don't want a ddlc fiasco again.
After farming for his ascension materials, I quit genshin then read some fanfictions in Tumblr, I came across a Kaeya fanfic then proceed to read the contents. All of a sudden, my ps4's screen started to distort, my eyes widened at the sight of it, then a bright light surrounded me, making my head dizzy
.
.
.
"Traveler, you're awake" I woke up to a familiar voice reaching my ears, I blinked my eyes slowly to realize that I'm not in my room, where am I? My jaw dropped when the person I saw in my eyes is none other Venti, this is impossible! He's not real! "Venti...?" I tilt my head in confusion, there's no way this is real.... this must be a dream! The bard showed a genuine smile before putting down his lyre "I'm happy that you pulled for me, I will go crazy if you pulled for him instead, hehe." Venti had a patronizing smile after that, my eyes widened as I sat up "Venti? There's no way that you're real!" I said, feeling my empty pockets, Venti sighed as he stood up, he had his lyre in his hand "Come on Traveler, let's go celebrate the windblume festival." the God reached out his hand, I was reluctant to respond to his offer, he seems a bit suspicious to me, considering my ps4 sucked me in Teyvat. Not to mention, he said these weird lines when I was communicating with my friends, and my controller would move on its own when I'm playing another character "What are you waiting for?" A smile was om his lips, I took his hand then stood up "Ok, let's go." Venti giggled as he led me in Mondstadt, I gaze behind to see the Vennessa tree.
No way.... all of this seemed real... the designs.... the npcs.... all of them are accurate! The only difference is that I don't see control menu "Isn't it beautiful? Traveler?" Venti turned to me, I nodded with hesitant. As my eyes scanned the whole city, Fischl and Bennett were talking to each other, Kaeya,Rosaria, and Diluc at the same table, although Diluc seems poker faced, Barbara was performing for the crowd, Jean and Lisa are eating together, Albedo,Sucrose, and Timaeus are experimenting,Amber is seen gliding, everything seemed lively more than the actual game.... "Come on Traveler!" The bard took my hand without giving me time to consent.
The rustling sounds of the leaves snap me back to reality, it still feels like a dream, did Mihoyo said something about this? The atmosphere is so lively and different "Uh oh woahhh!! Watch out!" Amber then crashed into Noelle, I giggled slightly then turn to the bard who was playing the lyre for a small crowd, as the sweet melodious tone halt to stop, the crowd clapped their hands, I smiled a little bit as I made my way towards him "Did you like it?" Venti inquired, I nodded then smiled, the bard chuckled as he took my hand then led me somewhere.
I realized we were getting far away from the festival, perturbation washed over me "Venti.... where are we going?" sweat dropped on my temples, Venti looked at me with a menacing smile "Somewhere..."
He led me to starsnatch cliff, the breeze of the wind soothes my nostrils, I can't believe all of these are real.... Venti picked a Cecilia flower then hand it to me, I narrowed my eyes "Are you really.... real?" I gaze at his eyes
"I'm aware that all of us are just video game characters, that's why I'm a God"
My eyes widened as he said that, he tucked the cecilia behind my ear "Y/n, will you stay here forever..?" The bard took both of my hands, his puppy eyes gleaming, I do want to visit Genshin.... but that does not mean I will abandon my world
"Venti.... I have my friends and family there..." I said, I averted my gaze to the floor, his grip on me got tighter "Y/n, your world does not need you" his tone was a mix of devastate and anger "All you need is me, you belong here"
My eyebrows furrowed, what does he mean by that!? "No! I can't just leave everyone! My friends care about me!"  I screamed in frustration. He then uses his anemo powers on me that sent me flying through the air "Arghh! Let me go!!" I desperately try to break free
"Don't you see that I love you? I don't like it when you control me everyday" Venti was feigning sadness on his tone
"Because you're never real!" I retorted back, a grin was marked on his face "I ever regret pulling for you!" I yelled. The bard went closer then cup my cheeks "So? You already got me, you did this to yourself" then his hands swayed, causing me to fall of the cliff, my life flashed before me, this is it....
"May your soul rest in this game"

Sniffles & Sick Days
Tumblr media
Spencer Reid X Reader
Warnings: Mentions of being sick
Category: Fluff
Word Count: 1k
Author’s Note: OMG STOP ILY 🥺🥺🥺 I know it’s kinda short but I hope you enjoy it!
----
You had come back from the last case with a case of the sniffles. Hotch had given the team a few days off since you didn’t have another case, he said that you can do your paperwork from home for the next few days.
You were currently in bed surrounded by tissues when someone knocked on your front door. You barely had the energy to call out that you were coming before rolling out of bed. You took a quick glance in the mirror, your hair was in a mess, your nose bright red from all the sniffling and constant blowing, your eyes were puffy and tired.
Whoever was at the door was in for a treat.
You opened the door, leaning on it for support. “Oh.. you look sick” Spencer twisted his face into a disapproving look. “Oh thanks Spence, that’s what I was going for” you walked over to the couch and threw yourself onto it leaving Spencer by the door.
He came in and shut the door behind him. “What’s wrong sweetheart ?” he took a seat beside you, “mhm I walked in the rain with Morgan remember ? After we went for that drive to the cabin. They parked a few miles from the cabin so they wouldn’t see us but it started pouring on the way back.” you sniffled and flipped onto your back.
“Do you have anything you can take ? I know you get grumpy when you’re sick” This made you smile, even though Spencer hates germs with a passion, he always pushed that aside to take care of you when you were sick, even if you told him that you were okay.
“The cupboard should have something” you grabbed the box of tissues while Spencer headed to the kitchen. After a few minutes he returned with a box of Tylenol and a cup of coffee for you,“drink” he popped two of the tablets into your hand and handed you the mug.
“Thank you” he smiled at you and asked if you needed anything else. “It’s cold” “are you sure?” you already had on a t-shirt with a sweater over it and sweatpants. You nodded, he pressed his hand to your forehead to feel if you had a fever. “I’m going to get the thermometer and a blanket, stay here” he kissed your forehead and headed to your room. You got up to take your mug to the kitchen and came back right as Spencer was returning from your room.
“What did I tell you?” he asked you
“I just took my mug to the kitchen” you yawned
“I don't need you spreading germs all over this apartment”
You rolled your eyes as you sat back down on the couch. Spencer came over to check your temperature “40.8, you’ve got a fever honey” you sniffled and curled up into the corner of the couch, he threw the blanket over your legs and went to the kitchen. You just wanted to cuddle but he kept disappearing on you.
Handing you a glass of water, he sat beside you. You leaned into his side as you took a sip of the water. He flipped on the tv and went through the channels. “Do you want to watch something ? Doctor Who maybe?” “yeah, sounds good” he changed the channel as he rested his arm over your shoulder. You could feel yourself getting tired, the Tylenol working in. You watched a few minutes before you realized it was reruns.
“Can you read to me?” you whispered, barely having the energy to talk. “Of course, what do you want me to read to you?” you took a second before answering. You didn’t have many books at your apartment, whatever Spencer had left here was about it. “Whatever you can remember, maybe a poem ?” he nodded, thinking what he should recite to you. He started whispering,
“It started many and many a year ago,
In a kingdom by the sea,
That a maiden there lived whom you may know
By the name Annabel Lee;
And this maiden she lived with no other thought
Than to love and be loved by me.”
You recognized the poem, it was the one that Spencer had written in the note he left for you before telling you he liked you, Annabel Lee by Edger Allan Poe. You smiled as he continued speaking, his hands playing with the ends of your hair and your eyes closed, your head resting on his shoulder.
“I was a child and she was a child,
In this kingdom by the sea;
But we loved with a love that was more than love-
I and my Annabel Lee;
With a love that the winged seraphs of heaven
Coveted her and me.”
By time Spencer was done reciting the poem to you, you had fallen asleep on his shoulder. He smiled at the sight of you, he shifted you back onto the pillow on the couch while he went to your room. He cleared all the tissues off your bed and fixed your bed sheet and pillows before coming back for you.
Spencer definitely wasn’t the strongest person you know, but he was strong enough to pick you up. He carried bridal style to your room, you shifted when he put you on the bed.
“Spencerrr” you whined as he got into bed beside you, “What is it baby?” he asked. “It’s too hot in here” you pouted, he chuckled and told you to lift your arms. He pulled off your sweater and your shirt, then turned on the ceiling fan in your room.
“Better sweetie ?”
“Uh huh”
You yawned and shifted into his arms. He kissed the top of your head as you shut your eyes. You knew everything would be okay with Spencer there.

The Difference one Woman can make.
Late Friday night in June, we had stopped for a burger on the way to the cinema, we used to do family movie nights at the cinema when a new film came out that the majority of us wanted to watch, this time I was the one who was reluctant to go, sadly we do this significantly less now.  So, stubborn 2015 me, rolling her eyes and dragging her feet up the cinema steps to find our seats to watch the new Jurassic World movie. Pathetic! I thought, why pay money to watch a movie about a dinosaur theme park! My parents had completely lost it! Huffing and puffing I took my seat on the aisle and sipped my blue raspberry slushie and looked up at the big screen. Ugh! I wanted it to be over, quickly. I sat down and shut my mouth, despite not wanting to watch it, I wasn’t going to spoil it for the others; but I didn’t get why they would want to watch it, I watched the trailer before going, was not impressed, it looked dumb!
However, as much as my pre-Jurassic self would not like, I found who I was during that movie, I discovered a whole new admiration for actors and movies. I found that I related to the main female protagonist, Claire Dearing. She did not need a man, or children, she was so focused on her career and let no one boss her around. She was top dog, and I completely fell for this fictional character. I evolved through that movie with her character, I felt content with being a strong female who put career over family. I wanted to embody this fictional woman; I wanted to be her.
On the journey home I typed ‘Claire Dearing actress’ into google and saw this stunning redhead- Bryce Dallas Howard. I immediately recognised her from movies I had watched prior, and I was completely astounded at her range of characters she can portray and portray them well. After scrolling through her Wiki page and reading news articles about her, I learned that she is the daughter of Ron Howard, one of my parents’ favourite people in film.
“Dad, that woman in the movie is Ron Howard's daughter”, I needed to inform my family that my now favourite woman in film is the daughter of my parents’ favourite people in film. My parents were shocked that I enjoyed the movie despite my loud vocalisation of not wanting to watch it.
Googling ‘Bryce Dallas Howard’ became my new after school routine, learning that she applied to acting school as Bryce Dallas to avoid people knowing she is the daughter of an already famous actor and director, and she had met her true love at nineteen and is still happily married to him. Yet what most stuck out to the self-conscious, body hating 2015 me, was that Bryce wasn’t a skinny twig of a woman that you see in most movies, she had classy curves and promoted body positivity despite some backlash the media gave her. I made a connection with this woman I had never met because I too received negative comments about my figure, yet Bryce took that on the shoulder and learned to love herself. I wanted to feel that self-love about myself that she acquired.
After watching Jurassic World, I explored many more fandoms, and from there I became obsessed with movie franchises and TV shows, actors and directors. I could not give you a full list of all of the fandoms I am in, there are too many to count, and they have all played a role in helping me evolve to who I am today. All because I latched onto one character from one movie I did not even want to watch, one film got me hooked on this life: it’s like a drug. I cannot stop. I also went back and forth with my hairstyle due to this woman; in the movie Bryce has a stunning ginger graduated bob with a fringe, however I never had the guts to go ginger until now; shame the hairdressers are all shut.
Now, almost six years later Bryce Dallas Howard has had great success in directing two episodes of The Mandalorian. Over the Christmas break I watched the show with my dad, sat on the sofa, fire lit, the chocolate Labrador curled up between us, peach vodka and diet lemonade in my hand, hot cup of tea in my dad’s. We binge watched both seasons in a week (it’s amazing) and he was shocked to see ‘Directed by Bryce Dallas Howard’ at the end of one, let alone two episodes. “Shit, she’s come far in the past few years” he said putting another episode on.
Bryce allowed me to find my best friend, Iz, through Instagram; Bryce has brought so many people together it is so surreal. And when I found out that Iz was going to Southampton University in 2019, a 20-minute drive from my house, I was finally able to meet her, because of one woman we both adore. I was friends with Iz for three years before I was able to meet her, I asked my school friend to come along with me so she could film the moment Iz, and I met! We got pancakes and watched the second Maleficent movie at the cinema, it was one of the best days of my life. I was so thankful that I met a truly hilarious and loving girl through this one actress! Because of Bryce Dallas Howard, I have made so many other friends from all over the globe as they too idolise Bryce and together we have created the ‘BDH online family’. A small group of us do regular zoom calls to catch up and chat about the recent photos and updates that Bryce has posted on Instagram, talk about Covid-19 and the types of restrictions and lockdown rules each of our countries has. During one of our calls, we had the craziest idea- Invite Bryce to one of our zoom calls. Bryce said yes! And after a few months of organisation, we had the date. The date was-
My.
Birthday.
The day came around and I was so nervous, it was 11pm exactly. The Wi-Fi had cut out fifteen minutes before the call. I was in tears. Mascara down my face, puffy eyes, I joined the call with a few minutes to spare before Bryce joined it. My mum hung around off camera for the first 5 minutes to double check the Wi-Fi was stable, luckily it stabilised. The other girls had never been so glad to see me, everyone was panicked for me; I could not miss it for the world (despite telling my parents, in floods of tears, that I cannot join and that it’s the end of that).
“Kat! You’re here!” “Happy birthday!” “Are you okay? The Wi-Fi sorted?”
They all chimed, happy to see my little face in the bottom right corner of their computer screens. Luckily Iz was there, otherwise it would have been extremely awkward with only one of us since we are known as a duo in the online family, we have to do everything together, we come in a pair and there can’t just be one of us.
“Shit girls, that was stressful”
I hadn’t realised I was holding my breath until I exhaled the large breath when my    Wi-Fi settled, and I was on the call, I fixed my makeup and was ready to meet Bryce.
The few minutes we had before Bryce joined were intense, two of the girls left to get a drink and we weren’t sure if they would be back in time, luckily they did return.
“No way!” One of them, Anna who was hosting the call, gasped “Bryce is in the waiting room!”
We all freak for no more than 10 seconds, we compose ourselves then our faces are reshuffled, and we see this stunning glowing face that we all admire smiling at us. Omg, it's her.
“Hi girls!”
I have never smiled for so long in my entire life, my cheeks hurt afterwards. Don’t get me wrong, I am not complaining at all, it just hurt as I thought I would only be smiling for half an hour, since that is how long we were told Bryce had. However, we were speaking to Bryce for nearly an hour and a half, she just kept talking and asked us questions! She was so lovely to talk to, so relaxed; it was if I was talking to a friend that I had known for years!
“Before we go I want to all sing Kat a happy birthday!”
My idol wanted to sing me a happy birthday! The other girls were really ecstatic for me, I still can’t believe to this day that The Bryce Dallas Howard wanted to sing to me!
It was both the best and the worst happy birthday song that has be sung to me. It was the best because, well my idol was singing to me! And proposed the singing! It was the worst in terms of the actual song as they were all out of sync and lagging, it was bloody hilarious!
At 10:27pm the next evening, watching a rerun of Game of Thrones on Sky, I got a notification ‘Brycedhoward just posted’, I clicked the notification then see our smiling faces on her page, she posted a screenshot of our call on her social media! The call was supposed to be a secret so other fans weren’t upset. There’s a few snotty comments on the post, but they’re just jealous and to be frank, I don’t care! My smiley face is on her page forever! All ten of us have printed the screenshot of Bryce’s post off and put it in a frame, one day all ten of us hope to congregate somewhere, most likely in America, and sign the backs of all of our photos. I’m still in utter awe and shock-  How many celebrities have you seen that would do a free zoom call with some fans? Not a lot, and that amount is even slimmer when they talk for an extra hour than scheduled. Bryce truly is one of a kind and the best idol anyone could ever hope to have.
Compared to a zoom call with Bryce herself, the few times she has liked my comments on her posts feel like nothing in comparison! I remember being so excited, running downstairs to my parents.
“Mum! Dad! Bryce liked my comment! She knows I exist!”
“Was it actually her? Remember when you got a Facebook request from Robert Downey Jr and it turned out it was a fake account?”
I rolled my eyes at her, it was Bryce, it was her verified account. The comment was a book recommendation I had for her, she posted on her hashtag BDHbookshelf and I thought I’d take a chance and comment a book recommendation I had for her, and the chance paid off.
I cannot wait to see what the future holds with Bryce, she has been such an inspiration to me for the past few years, and she promotes such wonderful causes and body positivity! I hope to one day meet her and thank her in person for changing my life for the better, and I think I’ve come up with the perfect opportunity to meet her- Iz and I have decided to travel up to London for the Jurassic World Dominion premiere in 2022 (if Covid lets us!), we’d get a hotel and actually meet Bryce in person, as well as meeting other members of the online family!
Words cannot fully contain the admiration that I possess for Bryce, her soul is utterly and truly exquisite, she has been such a visionary while I’ve been transitioning from a girl who had no idea who she was with no dreams or aspirations, to a woman who has now found so many new friends and now knows who she wants to be.
