i have settled on an outfit

reading thru a couple of comments of people misenterpreting me made me kinda realize that like. i dont really like the initial approach i took 2 her chr design? i think when making chrs that r a specific nationality its rlly good 2 incorperate little elements that are a part of the culture, but seeing people boil down me asking for an outfit for a chr that incorperates elements of chinese culture as just oh pick the most "chinese" outfit is like?? kinda shitty?

and i was kindof doing that too- i think alot of historical chinese fashion is really cool! and theres an urge to try and be like. "authentic" to that, to take what is supposed to be a character that is FROM A PLACE and make them a representation OF THAT PLACE- witch i dont.. like.

the "authenticity" of a fashion, that is the historical accuracy, doesnt actually practically matter when creating a modern character? its very common in all cultures to take older fashion and update it to be more modern, its mostly disrespectful when it becomes clear that you are doing like, 0 reasearch and are just mushing misc "asian looking" stuff together, (like people squishing together japanese and chinese culture into one thing) asian people are like- individuals n shit, looking at actual screenshots photos and videos taken in china & hk people just dress the way that they like and that is practical, the actual snippets of chinese culture you pick up from being an american are only ever the loudest bits (or the ones people like to be racist about) witch if thats something you never try and work around you end up tokenizing and dehumanizing people i dont think theres anything wrong with making chrs that are meant to be representative of a culture but i think its important 2 ask urself what you actually want, for me i wanna make a cool chinese dragon tgirl, so outfits i make for her should be like, cool swag outfits that someone would wear before i add anything ele

Batman: Zombies?! an alternate universe following some of our favorite bat family protagonists still as youngsters brought together by the zombie apocalypse as they survive the infested Gotham. I’m sorry but this ship makes me uncomfortable. Dash harasses Danny on a daily basis I don’t see how they work together. Ik Dash loves Phantom but that doesn’t really say much to me. It’s also sorta Bully x Victim, which makes it worse. I’m not gonna harass anyone who ships this though because that would make me an asshole and I don’t wanna be an asshole. This has been on my mind for a long time and i really need to get it out.

Jason is not as bulky as y’all make him out to be.

He’s just not a malnourished little kid anymore.

Ok, I can see people try to argue that even in canon, he’s like really tall and really bulky and yes I’m look at you Gotham War. ಠ_ಠ

To be honest, I was hysterically laughing for like. Fifteen whole minutes before I calmed down enough to continue reading. For the love of god, Selina looks like a little teenage kid next to him. And she’s got heels on.

And by the way, this is how she looks next to Bruce, which is way more plausible than. Whatever that was.

Never mind, I think they drew all the males ridiculously big in this comic. (Or is Selina just really that smol??? Not that I was under the impression that she was huge or something, but for a woman who used to be one of Batman’s most notorious villains?? Man, idk)

The point is. Yes, Jason shoot up a few inches after the Lazarus pit. And yes, he also gained a few pounds of muscle, too. But not over-night and not because he was dunked in a war-machine-making bathtub. It’s because he wasn’t malnourished anymore. His stunted growth was resolved in the aftermath of the Lazarus and he wasn’t a skinny short baby from then on, because whatever he ate, his body was healthy enough to directly absorb. Batman annual #25 and the rest of the comics will want you to think differently. But. Just. No.

As dislikable as The Lost Days artwork was, at least they didn’t grow him into a giant over night and I think it’s the only good thing they did in that comic, too, because it would give more depth to his character to say that in the years leading up to UtRH, in addition to everything else, he put in the effort to build his body for the big confrontation. To mislead and shock Bruce as much as he could. But even then, he’s not a tank of a man. He simply has an athletically pleasant body. And, you know, he’s, like, not fifteen anymore?? So it makes sense.

However, it’s not to say that I don’t enjoy reading (whether in comics or fanfics) about the disorientation it brings the batfam to conform the picture of this well-built man before them with their mental image of the scrawny little kid their sweet baby Jason was, in their heads.

If people write Jason’s growth compared to his fifteen self and how it gives the family such a hard time, as maybe a little bulky, sure. I can wrap my head around it and actually enjoy it.

Otherwise, I see Jason as a little taller than Dick and about the same height, if not a little shorter, than Bruce. Actually, Dexter Soy’s representation of Jason felt pretty accurate to me. Which is a shame that the story of RHatO as a whole was such a trash. Maybe for the exception of the Rebirth vol. 1. But I’ll get to that another day.

My take on Starlo's portrayal in the Genocide Route.

Disclaimer:

These ideas are my own interpretation of the characters, not because they’re better, but primarily what I would’ve loved to see in the story of Undertale Yellow.

These interpretations and ideas of mine are completely wild and may not fit the story the UTY team was trying to tell.

I have the benefit of the doubt of a given year to think about these ideas for a certain part of the genocide route to think of these ideas. I have no right to say they could’ve done this when I have no idea what was going on with the UTY team as they had over 7 years to create this fangame, completely undermining the team's effort and that’s not what I’m here to do.

Starlo’s portion of the UTY’s genocide route always stuck out to me. Don’t get me wrong, seeing it for the first time made me genuinely sad, and the moment was amazing. Seeing Starlo turn to dust and Ceroba charging at Clover really hyped me up. The emotion and care in this cutscene were phenomenal. I wouldn’t change this for anything else and I don’t want it to. However, there is just something I would prefer that was shown in the fangame.

Background:

As we know, Starlo is a false sheriff. He has no authority and is just a simple farmer roleplaying to cheer Monsterkind up from the inevitable reality that they might be stuck in the Underground forever. Many people have pointed this out to me when the scene of Starlo shooting Clover with a BB gun is the main reason why he couldn’t go through with it. But to me… I was confused. I understand people’s point completely. The only thing I didn’t get is WHY Starlo was doing this if this was the case. Starlo, the monster who saw Ceroba for who she really is, knows that she lost both her husband and daughter, and is suffering from depression… was willing to throw his life away knowing he wasn’t going to win against Clover? And not just Ceroba, his family, his friends! Maybe there’s some context I’m missing. Maybe it was pride or fear, or maybe it was just ego. It just doesn’t make sense to me. Would he really do that to the people he loves and cares for? 

Proposition:

I’ve seen people propose the idea of a genocide fight for Starlo, but I don’t think that’s likely. I want to respect the UTY team’s idea of giving that right to Ceroba. So, I’m proposing an alternative. Instead of Starlo doing this with no stakes, let’s add stakes to this situation. Let’s assume that once Clover reaches the Wild East, the cutscene starts with Starlo telling his posse to help the rest of the townsfolks escape as he is left behind to deal with Clover. We are given insight that not everyone has evacuated this location, and Starlo is forced to confront Clover face to face. Knowing Starlo, he’s going to do what he does best: distract people, and in this scenario, distract Clover long enough for the people he cares about to escape their wrath with the “Dual” minigame. This way, it gives a reason for Starlo to stay behind. I say this because the point here isn’t Starlo winning or losing, but giving people time to avoid confrontation and suffer a terrible fate, even if it means giving up his own life. Maybe this is what the UTY team was implying when Ceroba came back to the Wild East, telling Starlo that everyone had evacuated

and things would play out as normal, and Ceroba fights Clover.

Of course, this situation doesn’t solve the point that Starlo could’ve just shot Clover. And of course, Undertale Yellow felt more story-driven than character-focused, and when characters were given time to be… characters, some were given more characterization than others. I just want to put more of the spotlight onto Starlo as many people were frustrated at his portrayal in the genocide route, me included. This idea may be too much or too out of character, and I can see why people may disagree with my points.

I simply wanted Starlo to be a hero in his own way, but still capture who he is deep down.
