there is too much sword fighting in xianxia novels. i propose a main character who is completely average at swordplay but is skilled in hand to hand fighting. so they decide to use this as a trump card, and not really display their abilities.

What would it be like if you had immersed in a fiction story with your love?

PILE 1

something related to royalty, something like a person who has a high social level at the time falling in love and wanting to cultivate a relationship with a person a little lower down, not necessarily a commoner/commoner, it would be like a king or queen falling in love with a budding knight or a princess (it could even be a queen or another king) but the place they rule is not as well-known and prosperous as the other. a similar energy but at the same time different, it's difficult to explain, but it's as if they were two people with the same opinion but they express themselves in different ways, I see similar personality, both with high walls around them, a love that can have faced many obstacles. but I also see... it's a film that the charming and eternal Heath Ledger made, I believe that many could see this film, as they think that this work is the closest in being portrayed to what their relationship would be like in a fictional couple. The film is called: A Knight's Tale.

PILE 2

Right away, I feel the energy of pride and prejudice and the works of Jane Austen, a person, more specifically a man, being similar to Darcy at the beginning of the film, judgmental, imposing and perhaps even unintentionally, possessing an air of finding himself better or superior to the others in certain things in life, a film that reminds me a lot that it also starred the perfect and beloved Keira Knightley called Atonement, I see the feminine side seeking more empathy from the world and the people around them, even though they are dreamer, she is not afraid to raise her voice and defend some attitude or action that she thinks is right, just like the main characters in the two works I mentioned, I believe that for the end of this story to be happy, both of them would have to find a way to balance their things, the strong personalities they have, and the differences in life.

PILE 3

just look! Unlike the other piles, this one has strong female representation, and could even be a sapphic couple. the protagonist is a queen or a woman who has power in society in some way where everyone fears and respects her, and could even be a witch, an intelligent woman, an elder, it reminds me a lot of a fantasy film called The Secret Of Moonacre where the man he is completely enchanted by the woman he loves, there is a lot of magic in this pile, something mystical even, and for women who love women it would be like the movie “the handmaiden”, where one of the women has power and authority over the others and the other woman too She has a great chance of becoming a respectable woman, but she still needs to follow a path, she is young and can be childish, hasty and immature.

recently read the time magazine special edition “Star Trek: inside the most influential science fiction series ever” a good portion of it is stuff a lot of fans probably already know, but there was some info in there that was still new to me, and lots of gorgeous photos that were amazing to see in print, too, so still definitely an enjoyable read! (apart from a couple instances of weirdly superiority, bro-esque writing, but that only occurred in one of the articles, thankfully)

one thing I really enjoyed about the visual aspect of the magazine though was some of the costuming visuals! For example, these crisp shots show not only the tailoring and seams but literally the construction and stitching on the TMP era uniforms 😍😍 (check out the stitching on the sleeve ranks in particular!!!)

next up, some extremely cool science things I didn’t know about and love that they exist:

this shot is excellent both for De fans (me) and also for seamstresses and costumers (also me!) because of that excellent, and rare, shot of the back of a TOS women’s uniform with seams and construction visible… positively a seamstress dream!! such a good garment structuring reference 👏🏻

also, an up close on one of Quark’s outfits that shows definitively that this outerwear jacket is, in fact, rainbowy tweed!!, a fashion statement I vote we bring back:

this little Kirk & Spock character comparison panel appeared next to an excerpt of Shatner’s writing, and to me it would fit in perfectly with those “who’s dating who” activity panels etc in magazines like seventeen, which, excellent execution, that’s such a good vibe to have considering The Premise 👏🏻

speaking of— I wish they’d mentioned slash fic, The Premise, early fanfic mail chains etc waaay more than they did (and for that matter, highlight way more just how important and vital the women Trekkies were!) but hey, at least they mentioned Spirk shippers, along with other parts of the magazine mentioning queer and nonbinary+trans rep in trek. could’ve/should’ve been more, but—

anyways! It’s still a fun magazine to read through and has lots of fun images even if you’re already familiar with the stories. (did you know there used to be an Enterprise shaped landline phone you could buy? I didn’t, and now I very much want one lol) it also highly benefits from having article writers of multiple genders, so there’s that, too. 🖖🏻

I wanted to upload these because I kinda lost motivation and don’t plan on finishing them, but I thought people would be interested in seeing the WIPs anyway! Maybe I’ll come back to them, who knows.

The Eel - inspired by children’s books, obviously! Zed is quite an accomplished children’s book author, known for the “Aerial Sheep Service Chronicles” (ASS for short) and the superhero series “Wormman”. I thought it would be funny to have his book have a ridiculous amount of stickers on it, just seems like a Zedaph thing idk. The whole “where do eels come from” was inspired by a genuine scientific question that has only been recently answered.

DocM77: Redstone, Life & The Goats - this title immediately struck me as one of those biographical books written by like, tech CEOs or sportstars or whatever. Naturally, we have Doc posing shirtless for the camera, and some dramatic text overtop. Ren helped him write it since Doc reasons Ren has experience in literature and drama and whatnot. Ren actually doesn’t, but he has enthusiasm!

Cubfan135: The Man Behind The Chaos - since this is Cub’s shop, naturally it is decorated with a best book award. This book is written in third person but don’t let that fool you, Cub wrote it about himself entirely on his own. Compared to Doc’s, its less of a self-help life-retelling kinda thing and more just a list of all the cool things Cub has made in extreme detail.

Decked Out: Blueprints and Secrets - this is a book but its formatted very like a magazine, with little puzzles inside and maps and pretty pictures and what not. Its a promotional advert for the Decked Out 2 dungeon essentially, but is very cool and Decked Out 2 is cool so it has a bunch of sales.

ok ok ok so in TGH, when Elayne and Nynaeve rescue Egwene, part of their plan requires them to attack a random sul'dam/damane pair to get the a'dam and sul'dam dress so they can sneak in

now that might not happen since they already have an a'dam and it looks like it might work differently here, but I want it to because they don't attack the pair so much as sneak up on them and take the collar off the damane and kidnap the sul'dam. but the damane in question here, upon realizing she's free, immediately punches out her sul'dam and fucking books it out of town

anyway I want it to happen and if it does I'm honestly betting on it being her that fucking decks her sul'dam
