Tips You Need to Know to Post on Instagram 2023 | Liveblack
Tumblr media
Instagram is the one thing everyone scrolls after waking up. It’s become routine to check Instagram to stay updated with everything happening worldwide. It is considered the platform that earns you a lot of engagement and is a proven fact. We can call it a standard platform for creators and businesses to engage with their audience through innovative content. However, there’s a thing everyone should know about posting on Instagram: posting at whatever time you like doesn’t get you more reach and engagement.
You put a lot of effort into preparing an entire post, and it needs to reach the audience the way you want; your hard work runs into a loss. Growing an audience base is never easy, as you have to compete with other creators, businesses, brands, etc., to stand out in the herd. So how can you get more reach and engagement through Instagram? Well, a simple answer is to know the best time to post on Instagram. What is the best time to post on Instagram? So here we are, ready with a detailed answer and some tips and tricks of engagement techniques that land you a helping hand to make your hard work worthwhile through high engagement.
Multiple factors affect engagement — time to post, location, type of audience, content, etc. Many platforms have researched the best time to post and get multiple common data on days and specific times for posting.
However, only some mentioned times or days can lead you to the highest engagement because every business and creator has its niche, and it also depends on the quality of content you post and the location. It’s hard to say about any particular average time to post on Instagram but take a look at the information we will share here.
Every time Instagram changes its algorithm, and tricks everyone with something new. But what remains the same is checking on which time you get the most engagement.
Things that help you achieve your Instagram goals include — interest, recent posts, and how frequently you get through some particular accounts. These three things will help you understand the behavior of your audience.
Anyone interested in any particular Instagram account or posts will most likely appear on top of their feed. When people have free time, they use Instagram, and most of the time, the recent posts they see get the most reach and engagement. See, time helps you with everything. And now, the most critical point is how frequently the audience searches for any particular post and account on Instagram.
All it means is that you have to post frequently, not in quantity posts but in quality content, and get a higher chance to connect with your audience. Each day of the week has its time. You can post or schedule your post accordingly. Workdays are the most recommended to post as on weekends, people are busy with their personal lives and do not spend much time on social media. But you still have a chance to get an engagement on weekends for a specific time slot.
The location also plays a vital role in getting more from Instagram. Audiences differ from countries and states or cities that like different content as per their interest. The wider your audience, you don’t have to worry about time, but if you are a local business or just started playing on Instagram, you must be careful with each step you take. Consider posting at the best time to get the most reach, likes, comments, and shares.
Every audience is unique, and you see a different level of engagement with your primary audience. Sometimes you see some accounts get more likes, comments, shares, and everything despite posting whichever content, but don’t be demotivated as good things take time, and the best time comes for you and your engagement.
Understand your primary audience and what they are interested in, and, according to that, take action for what you want from them. Like, comment, share, or save your post, click the link that leads them to your website, etc., and give priority to your primary audience by posting quality content at the best time. Social media statistics show the actual numbers and data so that you can get an idea about when you get the most engagement, how your posts perform on a particular weekday, which time is suitable for your business to post, and what type of content people like from your account, age and gender of the audience who engages with you, etc. your Instagram app will help you every way possible to collect the necessary data.
On the other hand, reels are making heads turn every day with their unique approach and creative side; you can also check out the best time to post Instagram reels.
There are tools to help you schedule your posts and analyze the data of all your posts. Even an Instagram app will help you with the data, including date, time, day, gender, age, etc., to make it easier to record your audience’s behavior and the performance of your posts.
Throughout your Instagram account, post consistently with the quality content you prepared to engage your audience, customers, or new users. Never sacrifice quality over quantity, as you should deliver the best you have in your box for your audience. If you are running out of creative ideas, check out other businesses’ and creators’ accounts to get new ideas on reels and posts.

Beginners Guide to Descriptive Sentences
Hi writers.
I’m Rin T, and in this post I’m excited to share with you a detailed guide on how to craft vivid descriptions and descriptive sentences for your writing. I’ve long believed that descriptive writing is the magic that turns ordinary text into an immersive experience. When done well, every sentence acts like a brushstroke that paints a scene in the reader’s mind.
──────────────────────────── Why Descriptive Writing Matters ────────────────────────────
I have seen how powerful descriptions can engage readers and establish a strong connection with the narrative. Descriptive writing is not simply about decorating your work; it is about building an atmosphere that transports your reader to a world. your world.
When you write descriptions, remember:
You are setting the tone.
You are building a world.
You are evoking emotions.
You are inviting your readers to experience your story with all their senses.
──────────────────────────── Step-by-Step: Crafting Vivid Descriptions ────────────────────────────
Below are my personal tips and tricks to help you build detailed and captivating descriptions:
Begin With the Senses
Description does not solely depend on what the eyes can see. Consider sound, smell, taste, and touch. For instance, instead of writing “The witch’s hut was eerie,” try elaborating: “The witch’s hut exuded an eerie aura. The creaking timber and distant echoes of whispering winds mingled with the pungent aroma of burnt sage and mysterious herbs.” In this way, you help the reader not only see the scene but also feel it.
Choose Precise and Evocative Language
Precision in language is vital. Replace generic adjectives with specific details to boost clarity and imagery. Rather than “The forest was dark,” consider: “The forest was a labyrinth of shadowed boughs and muted undergrowth, where the light barely touched the spindly branches, and every step unveiled whispers of ancient spells.” Specific details create tangible images that stay with readers.
Show, Don’t Just Tell
A common mistake is to “tell” the reader how to feel, rather than “showing” it through context and detail. Instead of writing “It was a spooky night,” immerse your reader: “Under a pallid crescent moon, the night unfurled like a canvas of foreboding whispers; broken branches and rustling leaves narrated the secrets of a long-forgotten curse.” By showing the elements, you invite the reader to experience the fear and mystery firsthand. (You don't need to be as dramatic as my examples, but this is simply for inspiration)
Use Figurative Language Thoughtfully
Metaphors, similes, and other figures of speech lend an artistic flair to your descriptions. When writing about a scene in a magical world, you might say: “Her eyes shone like twin beacons of moonlit silver, cutting through the gloom as if to part the veil of night itself.” Such comparisons evoke emotions and deepen the reader’s connection with the scene. However, be cautious not to overdo it; a little figurative language can go a long way.
Strike a Balance Between Details and Pacing
While elaborate descriptions are alluring, too many details can weigh down your narrative. Consider introducing the broader scene first and then focusing on key elements that define the mood. For instance, start with an overview: “The village lay nestled between ancient stone arches and mist-covered hills.” Then, zoom into details: “A solitary, ivy-clad tower sent spiraling tendrils of mist into the twilight, as if guarding secrets of a long-lost incantation.” This technique creates a rhythm, drawing readers in gradually.
──────────────────────────── Practical Exercises to Enhance Your Descriptive Writing ────────────────────────────
To help you practice these techniques, try the following exercises:
Sensory Detail Drill: Select a familiar scene from your fantasy world (for example, a witch’s secluded garden). Write a short paragraph focusing on each of the five senses. What do you taste as you bite into a magical fruit? What sounds resonate in the quiet of the enchanted night? This drill helps you to avoid flat descriptions and encourages you to integrate sensory experiences.
Revision and Refinement: Take a simple sentence like “The night was cold,” and transform it using the advice above. Rework it into something like, “The night was a canvas of shimmering frost and darkness, where every breath of the wind carried a hint of winter’s sorrow.” Compare the two, and notice how minor adjustments can dramatically heighten the mood.
Peer Review Sessions: Sharing your work can offer invaluable insights. Exchange your descriptions with fellow writers and ask for focused feedback, Does the description evoke the intended emotion? Does it deliver a clear image? Use these sessions as opportunities to improve and refine your craft.
──────────────────────────── Common Pitfalls and How to Avoid Them ────────────────────────────
Through my years of writing, I've learned that even the most passionate writers can stumble. Here are some pitfalls to watch out for:
Overloading With Adjectives: While it’s tempting to create elaborate descriptions, too many adjectives and adverbs can distract rather than enhance. Aim for clarity and purpose in every word. Instead of “a very dark, spooky, frightening forest filled with creepy sounds,” try “a forest shrouded in ominous silence, where every rustle hinted at unseen mysteries.”
Falling Into Clichés: Familiar images can sometimes render your work predictable. Try to avoid worn phrases. Instead of “as dark as night,” imagine “as impenetrable as the void that separates worlds.” Unique expressions capture attention and create lasting impressions.
Neglecting the Flow: Descriptions are vital, but the narrative must continue to drive forward. Check that your detailed passages serve to enhance the storyline rather than bog it down. Ask yourself: Does this description bring the reader closer to the action, or does it detract from the momentum of the narrative?
──────────────────────────── Advanced Techniques for the Aspiring Writer ────────────────────────────
Once you’re comfortable with the basics, consider these advanced methods to elevate your descriptions into artful prose:
Integrate Descriptions Seamlessly: Instead of isolating your descriptions, weave them into dialogue and action. For example, as a witch brews her potion, you might describe the bubbling cauldron and swirling mists as part of her incantation, not just as a standalone scene. “As she whispered the ancient words, the cauldron responded, its surface rippling like a dark mirror reflecting centuries of secrets.”
Reflect Character Perspectives: Let your characters’ emotions color the scene. If a character fears a looming threat, their perception will add a layer of tension to the environment. “I entered the dim corridor with trepidation, my heart pounding as the flickering torchlight revealed spectral figures dancing along the walls.” This technique makes the description both situational and personal.
Use Rhythm: The cadence of your sentences can mirror the pace of your narrative. In high-tension moments, short, abrupt sentences heighten the urgency. Conversely, in serene scenes, longer, flowing sentences can create a tranquil atmosphere. Experiment with sentence structure until you find a balance that suits both your style and the mood you wish to convey.
──────────────────────────── Final Thoughts and Encouragement ────────────────────────────
your narrative is your unique creation. you too will find your distinctive voice. I encourage you to keep experimenting with different techniques until your descriptions feel both natural and mesmerizing. Write freely, revise diligently, and most importantly, let your creative spirit shine through every line.
Thank you for joining me. I hope these tips can help you.

The 7 deadly sins
Using emotions to manifest your desires
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Disclaimer: the following statements are merely for entertainment purposes. You do not have to follow any of the advice mentioned in this post. It may contain toxic tips and tricks.
No matter how long you've been a part of the law of assumption community, you must have , at one point, heard the statement: " Feelings do not manifest." I am by no means writing this today to negate that statement because it is simply true. I'm only here to suggest a different approach.
Throughout history, and thanks to the rise of certain religions and schools of thought, feelings and emotions have been separated into two categories: positive and negative. Negative emotions then became equal to sins, blamed for humanity's downfall and accused of being the root of all evil.
Spirituality, on the other hand, refrains from such a divide. All feelings are valid and all emotions are part of the human experience. No feeling is bad or negative or "sinful" and every emotion deserves to be felt and honored as a part of life.
So, what does that have to do with manifestation?
Let's break it down:
Law of assumption decrees that your thoughts create your reality, meaning than in order to get what you desire, you need to focus on your assumptions. But does that mean you have to repress all of your feelings, turn yourself into an emotionless robot and live your life through a calculating, unfeeling lense?
Absolutely not. As I have previously stated, emotions are an integral part of the human experience, and they demand to be felt if you were to stand a chance of a healthy life. And because there is no such thing as a negative emotion, here is how to integrate the seven deadly sins into your manifestation routine.
Tumblr media
Pride: arguably one of the most infamous sins, pride is associated with the fall of the Great. Cautionary tales about humility are always spread around campfires, urging people to never let their pride get the best of them lest they fall and lose everything they have. But that's not what we're doing today, in order to manifest your wildest dreams, your pride must be alive and thriving. Associate it with a strong self-concept, simply refuse to bow down to anyone or anything, and never see yourself as less than anybody else. You are the creator of your reality, the god that commands everything around you. Your power is your own to use however you please and your reality must and will bend to your desires. Why would you let anyone tell you what you can and can't have in your own reality? Why would you put anyone above yourself? This is your world, and everyone else is just living in it. A healthy pride will allow you to understand your true power, and to refuse to settle for less than what you deserve.
Tumblr media
Lust: my favorite "sin" when it comes to getting everything you've ever wanted. If your desire is to get the attention, admiration, and worship of everyone you have ever met, if you crave to have men fall at your feet, if you want to be so famous everyone on the planet knows your name, you need to use people's lust against them. Humans are predictable creatures, men especially so, so if your desire is to become an icon and to have an army of fans ready to throw their lives on the line for you, lust is your best friend. We see it in media everyday, with big names utilizing subtle yet powerful techniques to make everyone fall for them. Dress, act, speak, walk, and stand like the Goddess (or god) that you are. Invite that alluring siren energy into your life, speak like you have honey on your tongue and walk into a room like you own the place. Become an icon and watch as everyone around you becomes obsessed with pleasing you. (You do not have to engage in sexual acts if you're not comfortable with that. Even the promise of sex will turn them into clay.)
Tumblr media
Greed: always looked down upon, greed is considered the worst human trait of all times. You cannot want too much, you cannot ask for too much, you have to settle for what you have and be grateful. Why? Why can't you want more? Why can't you know that you deserve better and never settle for anything less than exactly what you want and so much more? The world is yours and settling for anything less is pathetic. What you want is yours right now, so why should you be happy with bread crumbs when you can have the entire cake? You can always have more, you can always get bigger and better things. Do not drive yourself crazy, of course, use your discernment but never settle. Resources are infinite, money never ends, and everything you want already exists. If more makes you happy, then go get it!
Tumblr media
Wrath: I used to say that if I were one of the seven deadly sins, I would be wrath. Everyone always made it seem that anger was one of the worst human emotions ever and that it never ends well for the angry person. But I'm here to tell you now that that was just an excuse to keep you from standing up to the people who hurt you. Because how come everyone can do whatever they want to do to you but the second you get angry and fight back you're the bad guy? Use your anger to manifest your desires. If your current reality is not up to your standards, if your 3D is not showing you exactly what you want, be angry about it. Use rampaging and ranting and venting and let it all out and demand to be heard because you are the universe. There is no need to suppress your wrath and drown yourself in fake gratitude and humility in order to get what you deserve. If you're angry then feel angry, no one can take your anger away from you except for you and how do you do that? by getting everything you've ever wanted.
Tumblr media
Gluttony: I'm guessing that you can already tell what I'm about to say. Gluttony is defined as this insatiable need for overconsumption and over indulgence to the point of waste. You need to be a glutton for your desires. And no, I'm not saying over-consume tips and tricks here on LOA Tumblr, you already have enough knowledge under your belt to manifest everything you desire. I am saying however, that when you're complaining about not having what you want you are a glutton for despair and misery. Turn that around and use this to your advantage. Become a glutton for power. You have the key to the universe in your hands, are you going to throw it away and continue wondering why you don't have everything you want, or are you going to use it and manifest your wildest dreams?
Tumblr media
Envy: nobody deserves it more than you.
If you see someone else living the life you want, having everything you've ever desired before, going out with your SP, or even having your dream job, you need to remind yourself that it does not mean you do not deserve any of those things. Jealousy is a perfectly human emotion and wanting what other people have is not an indication of failure. You can have all of those things and more, so use your jealousy to fuel you. Of course, that does not mean go out and try to ruin everybody else's life, it means go inward and focus on what you want so you can have it. You sp is yours, that job is yours, that degree is yours... you deserve everything and more and just because someone else has it right now doesn't mean you're never going to get it.
Tumblr media
Sloth: you do not have to lift a finger to get everything you've ever wanted. Yes, you can indeed sit pretty and watch as everything comes to you. All you have to do is control your thoughts, be stubborn about what you deserve, and make your affirmations the dominant thought process in your brain. You do not need to take action, you do not need to get out of your way to get something, you do not need to chase anything. You can just relax, enjoy life, and expect to be handed everything on a silver platter.
This was such a fun post! I hope you enjoyed reading it, and remember, this is only for your enjoyment 😉
You do not need to take any of this advice if it doesn't resonate with you or if it goes against your beliefs, feel free to disregard this whole thing. This is not a manual for manifestation, it is simply something I cooked up in my brain because I was feeling a little toxic.
Happy manifesting ❤️

digital notes guide part 2/5: taking effective lecture notes (but make them cute!) 🎀
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
1st post
posted by: glowettee
hey study butterflies! ♡ mindyyyyy hereeeee
welcome back to our digital notes series! today i'm going more into the actual note-taking process during lectures/classes. this is important, since you can swap out notebooks for a digital notebook which becomes a lot more seamless.
Tumblr media
♡ pre-lecture prep
because being prepared changes everything:
night before setup:
review previous notes (refresh your memory!)
pre-read lecture slides
create note template
set up quick-access tools
prepare questions
charge all devices
quick-access toolbar:
highlighting shortcuts
screenshot tool ready
recording software open
reference materials linked
custom stickers folder
favorite templates
♡ the actual note-taking method
this changed my whole study game:
(SUPER IMPORTANT) the butterfly method (my signature system):
main points in center
supporting details on left wing
examples on right wing
questions in antennae section
vocabulary in body section
connections in trail section
active engagement tricks:
use different colors for different types of information
create mini mind maps as you go
add little drawings for visual memory
insert voice memos for complex topics
flag confusing points with cute markers
leave space for post-lecture additions
♡ making it aesthetic but effective
because why not have both?:
visual organization:
use boxes for definitions
clouds for main concepts
stars for important points
hearts for memorable examples
arrows for connections
flowers for chapter markers
color coding system:
pink for main concepts
lavender for examples
mint for definitions
peach for formulas
baby blue for dates
gold for important warnings
♡ dealing with fast-paced lectures
because professors/teachers love to speed-talk:
shorthand system:
create cute abbreviations
use symbols for common words
develop personal code system
quick bullet points
voice record if allowed
flag for later review
quick capture methods:
screenshot important slides
quick sketch diagrams
voice memo key points
type keywords only
mark confusion points
flag for detailed review
♡ post-lecture enhancement
because the real magic happens after:
immediate review:
fill in gaps while fresh
add pretty headings
organize messy sections
insert relevant images
complete examples
link related concepts
enhancement techniques:
create summary boxes
add practice questions
insert related resources
make concept connections
highlight key points
add memory triggers
effective notes aren't just about capturing everything - they're about creating a resource you'll actually want to review! think of it like creating your own aesthetic textbook that speaks your language.
pro tip: don't try to make everything perfect during the lecture. focus on capturing information first, make it pretty later! i usually spend 15 minutes after each lecture prettifying my notes.
xoxo, mindy 🎀

she visualized—and then she shifted *ੈ✩‧˚
this post is about how visualization is scientifically proven to be an effective method of manifestation
i've always been a big fan of visualizing–whether it's for shifting or just daydreaming before bed. recently, i've been coming across lots of videos mentioning how visualization can affect us vastly, both physically and mentally.
i did my research only to find out that this is completely fact-based.
the practice of visualization is an immensely powerful tool for the human mind. it engages brain regions that involve perception, attention and memory. it also has the ability to effectively reprogram our subconscious minds.
visualization activates the same neural circuits as actual experiences and has shown to improve performances, learning and well being. some big examples are: muhammad ali, oprah winfrey and arnold schwarzenegger - they've all recommended visualization as a tool for success.
a study has documented the positive effects of visualization and its correlation to better performance outcomes for athletes. this is because when we visualize ourselves doing something, our brains believes we've already done it, which helps build confidence that there is nothing to fear.
another study observed the effects of visualization practices on muscle power. the results showed that by simply thinking about training their muscles, participants successfully increased their muscle strength by 35% compared to those who didn't.
muhammad ali once stated: “if my mind can conceive it and my heart can believe it, then I can achieve it” this is literally backed by science.
scientists have looked into the validity and effectiveness of visualization techniques to see whether visualization actually helps improve well-being:
dr. tor wagner has stated "imagination is a neurological reality that can impact our brains and bodies in ways that matter for our well-being"
when we vividly use all five senses in visualizations, we're able to trick our minds into believing that we already have what we want. in other words: our brains can't tell the difference between imagination and reality. this is exactly why visualization is such a powerful tool when it comes to shifting.
whether you're trying to step into the best version of yourself in this reality or shift to another one, visualization empowers you w/ the confidence and clarity to align your thoughts w/ your desires.
⭒ okay but how can i effectively use visualization to shift?
it's important to note that visualization isn't wishful thinking. it's about embodying a new state of being. practicing it regularly can help rewire your mind and help you embody your DR self.
anyway, here are some tips!
-
daily routine:
-make visualization a routine. do it in the morning or before bed and try do practice it for at least 10 minutes a day to establish a consistent habit
senses:
-use all your five senses while visualizing to have the most psychological impact. focus on what you can see, hear, taste, smell and feel in each moment. subliminals or guided shifting meditations can also be helpful here (alunir!!)
also, during this part: let the scenario flow naturally. don’t force anything even if you can’t "smell" the coffee or "taste" it. it’s fine, dw. forcing the scenario can be very draining, speaking from experience—especially during the day.
writing:
-make a script of how the scenarios in your DR will play out, scene by scene. the more details, the better. also, focus on how you're feeling at each point in the scenario—you're not just imagining it, you're experiencing it.
vision board:
-make a vision board. add a collection of photos, quotes and images that reflect you DR. keep this vision board somewhere you spend a lot of time. it’s basically just a physical pinterest collection. keeping it in your line of sight can reinforce the power of your vivid visualizations
-
the more real it feels to your mind, the closer it becomes to being your reality.
shifting isn't just a possibility, it's natural when your mind actually believes that you're already there :)

Hello! Its me again- got a small request..
Imagine- Y/n is a student at granpa sano's dojo and trains there since they were young. They are really good at it, they are like the 3rd strongest student at the dojo and this caught Mikey's and Baji's attention. They become friends after awhile (and one of them starts crushing on them) So- do you mind writing some headcanons on how they train together at the dojo (Mikey and baji separately?)
Tumblr media
Mikey:
He always pushes you to your limits during training, wanting to see how far you can go and how much you can improve.
Despite his intense training style, he also has a playful side and might use their shared training sessions to mess with you and try to get a reaction.
He starts to admire your skills and might even secretly be impressed by how good you are at martial arts.
During training, Mikey observes your every move closely, analyzing your technique and looking for weaknesses he can help you improve upon.
He might occasionally try to push your buttons, testing your emotional limits as well as your physical ones, to see how you handle pressure.
Mikey starts to appreciate your skills and admires the effort and focus you display during training sessions. His respect for you grows each time you improve and challenge him back.
Baji:
When training with you, Baji is more laidback and relaxed than Mikey. He still pushes you, but with a different approach, making the sessions feel more like hanging out with a friend.
Baji often incorporates humor and banter into his training sessions, making it fun while still challenging.
He slowly starts to develop feelings for you, finding your dedication and skill in martial arts admirable, and enjoys the time they spend together.
He frequently shares tips and tricks to perfect your martial arts techniques and has a talent for pinpointing areas of improvement in your form.
Baji's competitive side comes alive when they train together, and he enjoys engaging in playful banter and teasing you to keep things interesting.
As they train, Baji's admiration for your dedication and skills grows, and he finds himself drawn to your determination and strong spirit. He starts to look forward to their training sessions more and more.
Note: I’m sorry that it took so long but here it finally is <3

Hey, could I ask what coping skills you use to help with hallucinations and such?
I’m not diagnosed with anything yet so I’m not on any meds. And my coping skills aren’t very good.
I usually just use music and try to ignore things to the best of my ability. That helps with a lot of the more usual auditory hallucinations. Walls and floors moving are…hard. But I typically just reach out to feel them (and hope I’m not having tactile hallucinations too and don’t feel that move)
But things like feeling bugs on my skin. Or hearing disturbing things (screaming, loud extremely negative internal voices / intrusive thoughts, etc) I don’t really know how to deal with? And I was wondering you’d have any tips? The internet isn’t very helpful and I was wondering if someone else who experiences this stuff too might have some better suggestions!
Thanks!
My biggest coping skills are distracting myself from the hallucinations, and trying to ease my emotional reactions to them.
Music is great, but it can't really drown out the auditory hallucinations. In my experience listening to a YouTube video, watching a show/movie, listening to an audiobook or talking to someone is more helpful. These things require my attention, and for me to think about what I'm hearing, that way I'm not focusing on or thinking about the hallucinations.
I am a fan of the "putting your hands on the walls to feel that they are actually steady" trick. I've talked about it a long time ago on this blog, since I have experienced moving walls and floors a lot. I think it also is a very grounding experience. If you are hallucinating it can be very helpful to use a fidget toy or something else that is pleasing to touch (dry rice, sand, rocks, soft blankets, etc). It shifts your focus to something that is real, that you can feel and be comforted by.
For the other, maybe more distressing hallucinations, it can be very helpful to distract yourself. Consciously shifting your focus away from the hallucinations and onto something you enjoy. This can be a hobby like drawing or crocheting. Or something relaxing like watching your favorite TV show, or going on a walk. This won't actually stop the hallucinations themselves, but it will keep you engaged with something else, which can help you ignore the hallucinations.
In my experience, spending a lot of time focusing on and thinking about the hallucinations can make things worse (as in feel more severe, not change the amount of hallucinations). Luckily I have spent years coping with the hallucinations, to the point where now I can experience them and immediately move on, which is way less stressful for me. And that was a skill I learned after a lot of practice, and I'm glad I did. It won't be easy at first, but I do believe that it is possible to eventually ignore hallucinations to the point that they are just mildly annoying.
Also since you aren't getting treatment for the root of the issue (the hallucinations), the best thing you can do is try and treat your emotional reaction to them at home. This can be any self care activity that works for you. This will be personalized to you but it can be things like cuddling your pet, taking a bath, reading a book, applying makeup, baking your favorite sweets, making a cup of tea, calling a friend, etc. If you want more ideas you can turn to the internet but look for "self care ideas" or "ways to destress at home". Because hallucinations can be very distressing, and it's important to care for yourself during and after the experience. These things can overlap with the distraction techniques, either way it's getting your mind off of the hallucinations and onto things you enjoy.
I hope you find a way to make the hallucinations more manageable, and take care of yourself. Your comfort is the most important thing when it comes to hallucinations. It is always worth it to invest your time into self care and relaxation.

𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝘆 𝗧𝗶𝗽𝘀 & 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀
Effective study habits are key to retaining information and improving your grades. Below are some proven techniques to help you study smarter, not harder. Try experimenting with different methods to find what works for you!
Find out what kind of learner you are with my test: coming soon...
Tumblr media
Methods:
𝘗𝘰𝘮𝘰𝘥𝘰𝘳𝘰 𝘛𝘦𝘤𝘩𝘯𝘪𝘲𝘶𝘦:
Work in 25-minute bursts followed by a 5 minute break. After 4 sessions, take a longer break (15-30 minutes). This helps with focus and prevents burnout!
𝘔𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘔𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘨:
Create visual diagrams to connect key concepts. This can be especially helpful for organizing complex ideas and understanding how different topics are related.
𝘚𝘘3𝘙 𝘔𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘥:
A reading comprehension technique that ensures you fully engage with the material through questioning, summarizing, and reviewing.
𝘍𝘦𝘺𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘛𝘦𝘤𝘩𝘯𝘪𝘲𝘶𝘦:
After learning a concept, write down what you understand in simple terms as if you're teaching it to someone else. Then, identify areas where you're unclear and go back to review those.
𝘛𝘩𝘦 "𝘛𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘩 𝘠𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘍𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘚𝘦𝘭𝘧" 𝘔𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘥
When taking notes, write them as if you're explaining the topic to "future you"—the version of you who forgot everything.
Use casual, clear language and leave yourself questions to answer later, so you're forced to think critically when reviewing.
𝘛𝘩𝘦 "𝘙𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘦 𝘗𝘰𝘮𝘰𝘥𝘰𝘳𝘰" 𝘛𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘬
Instead of 25 min study / 5 min break, flip it when motivation is low:
Start with 5 min of studying, then take a 25-min break.
Gradually increase study time as you build focus.
It tricks your brain into starting when you’re feeling overwhelmed.
Tumblr media
Tips:
To ensure you'll have an effective, productive, and successful study session!
Have a set time!
Create a time goal for you to reach (2-5 hours, for example). Time yourself in increments, specific times for different subjects. For best results, spend more time on subjects you don't understand, and little time doing practice questions, or lightly reviewing topics you understand.
Minimize ALL distractions
Turn the phone AWFF I know you can do it, SO DO IT. No excuses. Less distractions=More focus. Create a clean, organized space around you. A clutter-free environment has a direct impact on your mindset and productivity. When your surroundings are tidy, your brain can stay clear and focused on the task at hand. Set up your workspace intentionally—keep only what you need to succeed within reach.
Take breaks!!!
Please, please, PLEASE, don't burn yourself out!
Your brain is like a muscle—if you push it too hard without rest, it’ll get fatigued and you won’t perform at your best. Schedule regular breaks to recharge and reset. Even a few minutes of stepping away from your work can do wonders for your focus and energy.
Use your break time wisely: stretch, hydrate, or take a quick walk to clear your mind. These small actions will help you come back refreshed and ready to crush your next task. Remember, consistency is key—working smart, not just hard, is the secret to staying productive and avoiding burnout. Take care of yourself, and the results will follow!
Quiz yourself!!
Flashcards, mock quizzes, practice exams, and similar tools are excellent methods for exam preparation. They not only help you mentally prepare but also boost your confidence, setting you up to excel on your next test!
Look back at your notes!
It may sound simple, but this tip is incredibly effective! Many teachers base their test questions on the material they provide, often reusing similar ones. Re-doing questions you’ve worked on in class, without any guidance, is a great way to put this strategy into action!
The "Energy Matching" Technique
Instead of sticking to a rigid schedule, match tasks to your energy levels:
High energy? Do active studying (like flashcards, problem-solving).
Low energy? Do passive studying (reading, summarizing, highlighting).
This prevents burnout and makes study sessions more productive.
The "Ugly Notes First" Rule
Take the messiest, most unfiltered notes during class.
Later, rewrite and organize them into "aesthetic" or structured notes—it doubles as review and reinforces learning.
The "Two-Minute Review Before Sleep" Hack
Before bed, quickly skim your notes for just two minutes—no pressure to memorize.
Your brain consolidates info overnight, improving recall with minimal effort.
🌿✨ May your mind bloom with knowledge and your focus grow strong like the roots of an ancient tree. Take your time, tend to your thoughts, and let each study session plant the seeds of success. You've got this—happy studying! 🌸📖💚
Lost in the garden? Let the Navigation Through the Garden be your guide—follow the winding paths to find exactly what you need! 🌸📖💚

Author Interview
Tumblr media
https://www.choiceofgames.com/2024/07/new-author-interview-drew-morrison-bootlegger-moonshine-empire/
I think this is your first time writing interactive fiction, but you’re rather an accomplished playwright, I gather. Tell me a little about your background and what brought you to Choice of Games.
I started writing for theater in middle school, and got my Masters in Playwriting at the University of New Mexico. Dialogue has always been my favorite part of writing, and theater offers such a great way to get together with friends and tell a story. I worked for a devised theater company in Albuquerque for about five years, and I really got attached to the camaraderie that develops around putting up a play, especially when it’s done without a lot of financial resources. It means everybody learns different tasks, and shifts around with each show: sometimes you’re a writer, sometimes an actor, director, technician, or shadow-puppeteer. The whole thing ends up being this wonderful process of collaborative problem solving: How do we make what we want to make with what we have? Those limitations spark more interesting ideas than the ones you’d have if you could just pay problems away.
I was introduced to Choice of Games by a friend who had worked for the company as a cover artist. I’d never written anything like this before, and it was a steep learning curve, but the Choice of Games forum and community is such a vibrant scene of supportive people that it’s been really exciting to work on. As a writer, it’s so easy to get sucked into the lonely process of submitting to distant strangers and contests, rarely getting any feedback on your work. The opportunity to have people engaged and willing to respond to your drafts is an invaluable resource, which was my favorite part of working in theater.
What did you find most challenging about the game design and using ChoiceScript to craft a narrative?
Pretty much everything? I was so proud the day I finally submitted a full draft that you could play through from beginning to end that it’s fueled me through the whole editing process since. Having finished a CoG game now, it’s amazing how many tips and tricks you pick up along the way that would change how you approach writing another game.
There were a lot of really fun challenges purely at the level of the prose. For one, second-person/present tense is such a fun, propulsive voice to write in. As someone who didn’t grow up with tabletop roleplaying games, it’s a relatively new voice for me.
Also, as a playwright, my plays are often structured around reveals and buried secrets. When lights come up on a play, we don’t know the people on stage, and revelations about their pasts, motives, relationships, and shared histories are part of what fuels the drama.
In an interactive fiction novel, the reveal isn’t as useful, because it will only work for the first playthrough. This completely changes the notion of suspense as a storytelling technique–a returning player has already seen behind the curtain. Plus, in the main character’s case, the player needs to know (and decide) all major backstory decisions from the outset, so that they can make informed decisions. This was really fun for me; as a writer I couldn’t rely on old tricks. It feels like I usually write as someone watching from the audience, and this was like going on stage and whispering in the main character’s ear.
Bootlegger is set during such an interesting period in American history. What about the period, and about Prohibition in general do you think modern readers may not know about?
The intersection of coffee and alcohol is really interesting to me. Part of the reason people drank so much pre-Prohibition was because alcohol was one of the only reliably safe ways to drink water. It would be much lower alcohol content than we associate with booze today, but people would drink the entire day. Coffee and tea were new forms of safe ways to drink water, so people went from being mildly drunk all the time to sober and caffeinated. The intellectual and political ramifications of that are massive.
The period is great for anecdotes, and I love all the methods people came up with to get away with drinking. Speakeasies would install levers that, when pulled in the case of a raid, would dump their entire liquor display down a hidden chute, shattering the bottles and draining the booze. Alcohol had been determined to have no health benefits, but during Prohibition that suddenly changed: whiskey could be gotten legally with a prescription for all sorts of maladies.
For me, it’s also a really interesting time of how people respond to a ban. For many, Prohibition was an attempt to stop some truly devastating habits, such as poor workers and farmers blowing their full paychecks on the way home, before even getting to their families. You can see how the Women’s Christian Temperance Union and the Anti-Saloon League could see alcohol and the people who sold it as criminal enterprises. At the same time, the complete ban on it meant that many people saw a market, and exploited it ruthlessly. With Bootlegger, I wanted to explore the sudden emergence of a new market that’s illegal, lucrative, and slightly absurd; something that was legal a few short years ago is now a violent, thriving industry.
Do you have a favorite NPC, one you enjoyed writing most?
I’ve never written any kind of gangster story, so writing Capaldi was a lot of fun. Writing a villain in general is a lot of fun, actually, but especially in this case, since Capaldi can be a villain or an ally depending on the play-through. That type of character, alternately frightening and endearing, is so rich and prevalent in gangster movies, and I like that in interactive fiction you might only see someone’s worst side when you’re on their worst side, which is just a terrible place to be. I think one reason we get into stories like The Godfather is because we see two sides of people, while the other characters in the story only see one: loving family member, terrifying murderer. It seems impossible that they can be one person.
If you were transported to the world of Bootlegger, what kind of underground shenanigans would you be best at? Distilling, smuggling, or imbibing?
I think I’d be good at distilling. I know I’d be terrible at being in charge of an operation, I have neither the economic wherewithal or ruthlessness. But I was a barista for a long time, so I think I’d be good at tending a still. I don’t think Prohibition had much of a “craft rotgut” scene, but I imagine I’d be able to get to the point of describing the flavor notes to my customers, which could maybe help me work my way up to get the kind of clients who could afford to care about the quality of their whiskey during Prohibition. But I’m also too trusting, so I’d be very easy to rip off. So, if I could find my way into an operation run by someone like Sam in Bootlegger, who takes care of their own, I’d make a very good worker.
Do you have a favorite tipple or are you a teetotaler?
I do love the occasional bourbon or an old fashioned, but generally I stick with beer.
What else are you working on/working on next, writing-wise?
I’m currently getting my Masters in Political Science, so I’m writing several essays, mainly focusing on the global impact of the film industry. I recently had a staged reading of a new play, Wildlife, which focuses on the illegal wildlife trade, as part of an ongoing project for my classes focusing on climate change. I am also working on an audio drama, called Ambrosia’s Big Break, with the hopes of releasing it in podcast format. Over the process of revising Bootlegger, I’ve had more ideas about things I’d like to do in this medium, so I’ve started to sketch out ideas for another interactive novel. This one would take an interconnected series of science fiction stories I wrote, and adapt them into one big world for the player. It’s one of those narratives that I’ve been attached to for years, but haven’t found the proper form for yet.

Tips and Tricks for Writing Your First Book I have learned as a Newbie Writer
Writing a book is a thrilling, yet daunting, journey. Whether you’re crafting a novel, memoir, or non-fiction, the process requires dedication, creativity, and a bit of strategy. Here are some tips and tricks to help you navigate the path to becoming a published author.
1. **Start with a Strong Idea**
Every great book begins with a compelling idea. Spend time brainstorming and refining your concept. Ask yourself:
- What message or story do I want to share?
- Who is my target audience?
- What makes my idea unique?
A well-defined idea serves as a solid foundation for your book.
2. **Create an Outline**
An outline helps organize your thoughts and provides a roadmap for your writing. It doesn’t have to be detailed, but it should cover the main points or chapters. This structure will keep you focused and prevent you from straying too far off track.
3. **Set Realistic Goals**
Writing a book is a marathon, not a sprint. Set achievable daily or weekly word count goals. Consistency is key. Even writing a small amount each day can lead to significant progress over time.
4. **Establish a Writing Routine**
Find a time and place where you can write without distractions. Whether it’s early in the morning, during lunch breaks, or late at night, stick to your routine. Consistent writing habits will help you stay disciplined and productive.
5. **Just Write**
Don’t get bogged down by perfectionism. Your first draft doesn’t have to be flawless. Focus on getting your ideas down on paper. You can always revise and polish later. The most important thing is to keep moving forward.
6. **Embrace Revisions**
Writing is rewriting. Once you’ve completed your first draft, take a break before revising. This will give you a fresh perspective on your work. Be prepared to make significant changes. Consider feedback from trusted readers or editors to improve your manuscript.
7. **Research and Read**
If you’re writing non-fiction, thorough research is crucial. For fiction writers, reading widely in your genre can provide inspiration and insight into what works and what doesn’t. Analyze the structure, style, and character development in books you admire.
8. **Develop Your Characters**
For fiction writers, creating believable and relatable characters is essential. Spend time developing their backstories, motivations, and personalities. Characters should drive your plot and engage your readers.
9. **Stay Organized**
Keep track of your research, notes, and drafts in an organized manner. Use digital tools like Scrivener, Evernote, or Google Docs to store your materials. Staying organized will save you time and reduce stress.
10. **Take Care of Yourself**
Writing can be mentally and physically demanding. Take regular breaks, stay hydrated, and get enough sleep. Exercise and relaxation techniques can help maintain your overall well-being and keep your creativity flowing.
11. **Join a Writing Community**
Connecting with other writers can provide support, motivation, and valuable feedback. Join writing groups, attend workshops, or participate in online forums. Sharing your experiences and challenges with others can make the writing process less isolating.
12. **Stay Persistent**
There will be times when you feel stuck or discouraged. Remember that every writer faces these challenges. Keep pushing forward, even when it’s difficult. Persistence is often the difference between an aspiring writer and a published author.
13. **Learn About Publishing**
Whether you choose traditional publishing or self-publishing, educate yourself about the process. Research agents, publishers, and platforms. Understand the pros and cons of each route to make informed decisions about your book’s future.
14. **Celebrate Milestones**
Writing a book is a significant achievement. Celebrate your progress, whether it’s finishing a chapter, hitting a word count goal, or completing your first draft. Acknowledging your accomplishments will keep you motivated and positive.
Conclusion
Writing a book is a rewarding journey that requires dedication, creativity, and patience. By following these tips and tricks, you’ll be better equipped to navigate the writing process and bring your story to life. Remember, every author’s journey is unique. Find what works best for you and keep writing!
Happy writing!
