Alfred the Cat is an emotional support service cat. if anyone in the manor is feeling stressed or overwhelmed, Alfred is there purring and making biscuits on their laps. if anyone is having an episode of any kind, Alfred is there, nudging them to ground them, even running off to get help from others in the house. he has learned to paw and meow/yowl at Tim if he's about to pass out from low iron (and to yell at him it's time to sleep). as well as helping Jason through panic attacks and flashbacks by stretching himself impossiblly long over his lap and purring really strongly. he has many times been taken to school by Damian and work by everyone else just to be shown off like a prized possession

If we want to stay related to the myths we could use one of these, most of them refer to several women in mythology ( pretty cool stories you should check them out) , I'll just give the connection to the Odyssey
Nausicaa ( princess of Phaeacia she helped Odysseus when he got shipwrecked on her Island in The Odyssey)
Polycaste ( wife to Telemachus and in other she mother to Penelope )
Cassiphone ( the daughter of Odysseus and the Circe in some myths)
Periboea ( mother of Penelope)
Asterodia ( alternative name given to Periboea )
Iphthime ( sister of Penelope)
Melantho ( a slave that reveals to the suitors the weaving scheme ( could add some tension if that was the daughter she was either too young to understand what was happening manipulated or did it out of spite as teenager rebellion or something))
Eurycleia ( wet nurse of Odysseus and a trusted handmade into Penelope)
Antiphata ( alternative name too Eurycleia )
Or we can come up with a new name something with a relevant meaning like
Aristomache ( best in battle)
Arsinoe ( raising of the mind )
Berenike ( bringer of victory)
Corinna (maiden)
Demostrate ( army of the people)
Euodia ( good journey)
Kallistrate ( beautiful army)
Kleonike ( glory and victory)
Laodice ( Justice of the people)
Menodora ( gift of the Moon (in The Odyssey Penelope place to Artemis might be a fun connection to have))
Philomena (to be loved)
Sostrate ( safe army)
Thaïs ( probably meaning bandage)
Zosime ( likely to survive ( could be given if we had come that she was born prematurely))
I got most of the names from Wikipedia and the society if you want to take a look

I've been listening to epic the musical and every time I hear the sirens talking about Odysseus "daughter" that doesn't exist, I'm thinking, what if she did exist, but Odysseus left for the war before Penelope realized she was pregnant.
Odysseus seeing his family for the first time after 20 years: a yes, my lovely wife, my beautiful son and this random girl that looks suspiciously like me....... What ???

love how this whole “new people coming to tumblr now” situation has exactly the vibe of strange showing up in the saloon of an old western town and stepping on the creaking floorboard

I didn't think of that. That is such a cool headcanon. Reminds me of a short film I watched once, don't remember where, about a guy coming home from war and finding out that his "son" was actually his daughter with a sweet ended. Could also be the other way around if Penelope was sending him letters somehow during the war and one of them was like "hey turns out our "daughter" is actually our son, his name is Telemachus" but the news hasn't gotten around to the rest of the world so the sirens don't know. Could add an interesting perspective to the way he's being treated by the shooters. I'm rumbling 😅.

Couldn't agree more. I watched it recently myself out of pure curiosity and it is..... ( spoiler below 👇)
....exactly that. Plus the acting is kind of weak it made me feel nothing most of the time. Stoick's emotional were good. They did change some things and added some lore ( the tribes coming together to form the village, I thought was really interesting ). Astrid wants to be chief now, I always believe she would be good at it and found any storyline in ff that place her in that position compelling, but Hiccups ascension to chief is a huge part of his later character development, so I don't know how they are going to handle that if they decide to do the later movies ( hope not especially if they are like this one ). The village did feel like it has more personality, mostly because we got more spiking villagers, which I like a lot. They have a problem of telling not showing with the some of the new lore that they give. The dynamic of Snotlout and his father was fun to watch. I don't have a problem with the dragon designs, I actually like the terrible terror. Except Toothless, he looks weird to me and I don't know why they can't commit to the sleet eyes. His eyes were so espresive to me, give so much to his personality in the original. Now he is kind of meh to be honest. The Hicstid didn't hit for me, I don't think the actors have chemistry together.
I have a problem with the scale of things. In the animated you could feel how small and insignificant Hiccup felt and how different he was, just by putting him next to any of the other characters especially his father which adds to their dynamic. In the LA of course you can't replicate that, they look like regular people because they are. But that scale now being more equal makes it less believable to me that Hiccup was ostracized by the village. He doesn't look different than them. I really thought they should have put some extra scenes showing us why this Hiccup is treated like that. And in general I I felt like we were to "close", like the camera should have taken a couple of steps back. I don't know how else to explain it.
I don't know if they shot any real locations, but if they did it looked really good. It did feel like there should be a Viking village there. I appreciated that. Not as good as the original though, again scale.
All in all I had an ok to good time watching it. Will I be returning to it ? No. Honestly I'll just keep rewatching the original, much better it actually has a soul and it's visually more pleasing.
I wouldn't have a problem with a live action httyd if it was in fact a new story set in this universe. New characters ( maybe some old too if you don't want to take a chance on new characters completely) and story line and everything. That would have been so interesting to me.
If you are curious about seeing it and unsure if you should go on theaters, I would suggest just waiting for it to go on streaming services or pirating it later. It is pretty shot for shot, line for line you're missing much.
people saying that the live action how to train your dragon is good actually because it's basically just a shot for shot remake of the original... then why the fuck would I watch it when I can just watch the (more visually stunning, not a blatant cash grab) original
#just say you don't appreciate animation and go#httyd#how to train your dragon#httyd live action#hiccstrid#hiccup haddock iii#astrid hofferson#stoick the vast#i don't know why we keep thinking animation is the lower art form#there are such great stories told animation that most people are never going to experience just because they think it's for kids#and thus has no value#LA spoilers#spoilers#httyd spoilers#movie review#live action#dragon neg

One thing that I appreciate about Odysseus from the Odyssey, is that after slaughtering the suitors and getting blood everywhere, he cleans up both the house and himself and disposes the bodies, before even thinking about going to see his wife. Penelope got treated to a spotless home and a clean husband. I know we like the visuals of her seeing him all covered up in the blood of the suitors ( one of my favorites as well) but there is something about the consideration of not having his wife worry about how to clean the mess that he made.

bbc merlin is a fun silly show that begs the question what if you were given a destiny you didn’t understand and you betrayed yourself time and time again in what you think is a selfless act of love that will serve a greater purpose, only for that to be the exact reason you fail and the undoing of the person you love most. and then the random filler episodes are like this witch is doing terrorism in camelot by sneaking magic mushroom bombs into the soup and merlin has to gaslight arthur into thinking he doesn’t like mushrooms or something idk

Ok I am up to chapter 12. She really know how to write hormonal teenagers.🙃 I really like Charon.🥰 Thetes honestly scares me, I am terrified every time I heard her voice.😰 We are at one of my favorite stories, crossdressing Achilles hiding from the war.😁 I f lost it when he called Patroclus husband😍. I am beginning t sea a theme with Patroclus being able to recognize Achilles.🤔 Deidamia annoyed me in the beginning, but I understand why she acts this way. For women at the time there was no other choice but to find a good husband, and here she had it, and it suddenly being ripped away from her. That is her whole entire future, there is nothing else for her. I understand why she would lose it. That doesn't negate the fact that no one is happy, including myself, for this arrangement or how it came to be.😔 Anyhow the boys are together now☺️ and the boys in the war horizon.😬
Just started reading the song of Achilles for the first time. 🥳 The audio book version, is it just me or does Achilles sound weird for a 12 year old, his voice is not what I had imagined, took me out of it when I first heard it😵💫. I had forgotten how violent Greek mythology is towards women.😑 It's going great they just joined Charon.😁 I am having a good time so far, but also actively trying not to remind myself of hours this ends 🥲
