These Destined Ends
Part Thirteen
Summary: Jessica fulfilled the wishes of the Bene Gesserits to produce a daughter. You’re now burdened with the task of not only marrying the na-Baron, but also bearing his child — the Kwisatz Haderach. Will you take your fate into your own hands? Or will it always belong to those who control you?
Pairings: Feyd-Rautha x F!Reader
Word Count: 2.5k
Warnings: poorly timed erections, humiliation kink, cockwarming, you spit in his mouth, unprotected sex, unnecessary angst
Summary: I’m not super happy with this chapter. I wanted to go into detail with the Gom Jabbar scene but I couldn’t get any words out😂 so I skipped ahead to the smut part I wanted to write. Big things happening next chapter👀
Tumblr media
The doors to the study burst open.
You look up from your spot nearby. Patience was not your strong suit, and you had grown bored while waiting for the Reverend Mother to administer the Gom Jabbar. Confusion flickers through you as you quickly assess the Reverend Mother's hastened steps.
"How did it go?" You ask, craning your neck to see into the study. Though you hardly thought Feyd would actually succumb to the test, it still worried you, and you feared you would see his body slumped on the floor.
"Never in my life," the Reverend Mother mutters. She stops in front of you. "The na-Baron is human, it seems, but not a man. Not like any that I've ever known."
You blink stupidly, her form retreating before you can even inquire about what she meant. She had been insistent that you weren't in the room with them and clearly she did not want to recall what you missed. She didn't even adhere to her usual courtesies of formal manners, scurrying away without even a backward glance.
Curiosity grows like a vine, winding up around you and inspiring you to creep into the study, unsure about what to expect. "Feyd?"
Your gaze sweeps the room. There's no jumble of limbs to suggest that he perished under the Gom Jabbar, which alleviates your fears slightly.
Finally you spot him, reclined in one of the plush chairs that had been pushed aside to make room for the assessment. Afternoon shadows cast him in a strange light, mostly hidden except for the faintest outline of his body.
"Feyd? What is she talking about?" You cross the room to him.
"That witch's test had...unexpected results."
"But you passed it?"
"Would I be here if I didn't?" He asks.
"No." You allow your eyes to adjust to the dim lighting, so different from outside of the study where you had waited. "What —?"
The words die in your throat.
Feyd sits, infuriatingly regal, in the chair, legs spread wide and arms draped on either side of the curved back. You notice for the first time his very obvious erection, straining against his pants and sufficiently flushing you with a perverse mixture of desire and shame.
"Feyd-Rautha," you gasp out, baffled.
"She thought she could deter me with pain, but clearly she is not as intelligent as she believes."
You hiss back, "You are abhorrent."
"Perhaps." He inclines his chin. "Show me."
His words pull behind your navel, the familiar tugging answer to his call. An image of Feyd, poison needle to his neck, deriving pleasure from the box entrapping his hand, flashes through your mind. No wonder the Reverend Mother was so horrified. It brings the slightest of grins to your face, and a subsequent wave of affection for the twisted, beautiful man before you.
"Show you what?" You ask coyly.
His voice is silk, red wine, life's greatest pleasures gliding over your skin. "Just how abhorrent you find me."
You close the space between you. Feyd keeps his gaze trained on you as you insert yourself between his legs, leaning down to work the fasten of his pants. Cock liberated, it springs up, red and  pulsing. It invokes a low, savage growl from him when you pointedly ignore his hardened length in favor of your own wanton needs, gathering your skirts in one hand while dipping the other down to your cunt. His cock twitches in response.
"So abhorrent that I don't know if you deserve this pussy," you murmur to him. "You disgust me. Why would I even want to fuck you?"
Feyd's jaw clenches and he wraps his fist at the base of his cock. "Shit."
Emboldened, you keep the steady rhythm of your own self-pleasure, sneering at your husband.
"People have perished under the Gom Jabbar and yet it arouses you, the unspeakable pain enticing your cock. You should be ashamed of yourself." Feyd gasps out, stroking himself. There's a dark intensity in his eyes. You realize that he craves this from you, needs to hear you flay him with your tongue. "Look how hard you are. You're pathetic."
His head rolls back, exposing the pale column of his throat. Your fingers hitch and you inhale at the sight of him like this. Wound tight with want, you remove your hand and climb into his lap. Feyd is only too eager to accommodate you, pushing his hips up in an effort to drive his cock into you, hands grabbing for your waist.
"Don't touch me," you snarl at him, swatting him away. Feyd whimpers. "You think I want your hands on me after what you did?"
A keening sound splits the room as you slip the swollen head of his cock between your folds, a display of his frustration — you keep still, refusing to provide the friction that he is so desperate for. He fills you thoroughly, stretching you until you feel you might burst, and you have to fight the urge to roll your hips against his.
"Don't do this," he snarls at you.
"What? Punish you? You practically asked for it, dear husband."
You sit on his cock, unmoving. He stares back at you with contempt, fingers digging into the arms of the chair. When he looks at you like this, like you are some unobtainable treasure, you might as well be seated on a throne. And, you suppose, it is an honor to have him buried to the hilt in your cunt, this man who has searched for pleasure in others, in violence, and now clings to you like none of it compares.
"Please," Feyd breathes out.
"Don't talk to me," you snap, shifting your hips just the slightest bit. His eyes flash. "But since you're so eager to use your mouth."
You grab hold of his jaw, squeezing tightly as you pull him closer. Despite the roughness of your grasp, it might as well be a caress, Feyd's cock flinching in response.
"Open," you instruct him, though it doesn't matter. With force, you pry apart his lips and slip your thumb inside his mouth, pressing down on his tongue and holding him in place.
It's an intoxicating experience — his hardened member resting in your cunt, his face in your hand, the pleading in his eyes as he gazes up at you. Power was addictive. You thought yourself above it, once. But all it took was the right person to hold it over.
Spittle sprays his face as you spit in his mouth.
Feyd's throat bobs. If it's possible, you swear you feel him grow harder inside you. "Close, but don't swallow," you murmur to him, revoking your thumb. Feyd obeys. At this point he's trembling with want and frustration. You remove your grip on his jaw but he keeps it lofted in the air; with more fondness than you care, you wipe the spittle from his face, the pads of your fingers swiping over the bannister of his cheekbones, his eyelids.
Finally you whisper, "You disgust me." Leaning back on your heels, you indicate for him to swallow, which he does. A smile curves your mouth. "You should be fucking grateful that I pity you. Grovel. Tell me why you deserve this."
"I don't," Feyd gasps. "I don't. I don't."
"Is that all you know how to say?" You sneer at him.
He shakes his head, desperation crossing his features. "No. I—I don't deserve you but that's..." he trails off, the words sticking in his throat like he can't quite work them out, "that's exactly why I need you."
To express your approval, you grind your hips against him. Feyd whimpers. His admission pleases you, injects you with a fervency that lifts you up on his cock and then back down. Feyd's thighs clench beneath you as you persist with the movement, steadying yourself by reaching behind him and grabbing the chair, and expletives falling from his mouth as you do.
"That's right you fucking need me," you hiss to him. You quicken your pace.
In retrospect, you should've milked the moment for all it was worth, but Feyd was already on the edge and you weren't far behind; his eyes roll back in his head as he comes, and you clamp around him, seeking your own finish. His cock softens in you. You do your best not to let any cum escape from between your thighs, vaguely grateful that its consistency is thick and doesn't normally demand much cleanup.
Smoothing the wrinkles from your dress, you ask him, "Tell me you got it."
Eyes half-lidded, Feyd gestures to the side of the chair. The Gom Jabbar rests, glinting in the dim lighting. Your gaze cuts to him.
"You didn't ask," he says, reading your mind.
"You didn't tell me it was right there?" You bark at him, bewildered. "I could've —"
The corner of his mouth twitches. "I wouldn't have let you."
You hesitate, knowing that he's right. Anger drains from you then, replaced with curiosity, and you wait for him to tuck himself back into his pants. Feyd rises to his feet.
"She didn't notice?"
"She was...distracted," Feyd says.
"And you replaced it."
"Yes."
"Good." Your gaze roams his face. "I must say I’m relieved you’re alive.”
Feyd lets out a laugh, deep and rasping. “I never thought I would hear those words from you.”
“Hopefully you don’t think less of me for it.”
“Nothing could make me think less of you,” he murmurs, then grins. “Though I might send a physician to check you for fever.”
You can’t help but laugh at this and you gently push his chest. Feyd captures your hands there, though, holding you close to him. You jest, “You’re lucky that I love you.”
Feyd’s expression shutters. Horror yawns in you, an all-consuming mouth threatening to swallow you whole. Why did you say that?
“Feyd, I —”
He takes a step away from you, dropping your hands. Even though he’s only a few inches away, a chasm might as well have opened between you. Feyd grabs the Gom Jabbar. “This needs to be taken care of.”
He brushes past you and, paralyzed with panic and disbelief, you let him.
Hours turn into days, which turn into weeks. A month. The longest glimpse you have of your husband is in passing; conveniently, a smuggler operation was uncovered the day after the Gom Jabbar, which demanded the full attention of the na-Baron. Feyd immersed himself in dismantling the enterprise. You, on the other hand, were left to the simple task of “carrying out your duty” — which, to your best understanding, meant to conceive the Kwisatz Haderach — an impossible task considering your husband refused to look at you.
You spent most of your days in your parents’ study, rifling through whatever documents were salvageable from Rabban’s raid. Most of them were meaningless to you, stocks of supplies and financial reports. But at least they kept your mind from drifting.
You’re in the study when the door opens and Feyd-Rautha steps inside, as solemn and impassive as he’s been ever since that day. Seeing him like this, so close and without distractions, pierces you like a dagger. The worst part of this whole ordeal is the fact that you missed him.
You missed his unwavering confidence, the flow of your banter, the slightest changes in his expression that only time had revealed their meaning. And, infuriatingly, you missed the sex. Missed the sear of his hands on your body, his cock in your cunt. You prayed to whoever would listen that he couldn’t see this on your face.
It definitely wouldn’t help your case after telling him that you loved him.
“The smugglers have been neutralized,” Feyd says first, breaking the silence.
You dip your chin. “I assumed they would be.”
“To celebrate this feat the Baron has requested that we host a feast with our allies, and to showcase our new rule over Arrakis.”
“Ah,” you reply. You wanted this to happen as part of your plan, but you weren’t sure what it meant now that you weren’t on speaking terms. You pause, waiting for Feyd to offer some sort of hint, but he just continues his blank stare.
Even when you first met, when you swore that he was the most wretched creature to exist, he did not treat you like this. Like you were nothing.
Courage thrums through you like a second heartbeat. “And what will your uncle, our allies, think when the na-Baron won’t even spare a glance to his wife?”
“I don’t care what they think.”
“You used to care what I thought,” you whisper back to him. Your throat works. It’s the first time you’ve uttered what you’ve been thinking. “And now you won’t even look at me, which is a punishment unlike any I’ve known.”
If it’s possible, Feyd stills even more. There’s a flicker of something behind his eyes but it’s gone before you can name it, like the glint of a fish on the surface before disappearing into the depths.
He rasps, “You don’t understand.”
“No, Feyd, I don’t understand, because you’ve been fucking avoiding me,” you growl. “So why don’t you enlighten me?”
His jaw clenches. “This isn’t the time.”
“If it’s up to you, it will never be.” You stand and cross your arms. “Just tell me. Then we can fuck until you get me pregnant and we’ll never have to speak to each other again.”
Feyd just stares evenly at you. You think that he might never speak but when he does, his voice is so low you can barely hear it. “This isn’t…this isn’t because I don’t…reciprocate…your feelings.”
He chokes out each word. Still your heart flutters traitorously.
“If what you said is true, then I am a liability to you. I am not meant for…I just wanted to give you time to think,” he finishes awkwardly. “Love is a weakness. It’s messy. It complicates things.”
“If you haven’t noticed, everything about us is complicated,” you reply, laughing bitterly. You feel your features soften. “That doesn’t change anything.”
“You’re wrong to love me, jewel.” He steps towards you, and you realize that there’s a startling vulnerability to his face, nearly childlike in its sincerity. A boy pleading for the care that he never received. “I will only hurt you.”
A wistful smile tugs at your mouth. “You’ve hurt me many times already, and yet I’m still here.”
“You’re a fool.”
“I know.” This time you’re the one to inch closer, bridging the gap between you. You can hear Feyd’s breath hitch. “Don’t hide from me. I cannot bear it.”
Feyd nods, once, almost imperceptibly. “Fine.”
You can’t help it — you reach out and straighten his collar, graze your fingers over his skin. He inhales sharply and it’s in that moment that you realize his avoidant behavior has been just as punishing for him, a matter of self-preservation.
“I will tear off your balls and use them to store my jewelry if you ever do something like that again,” you tell him. Amusement crosses his face, on the tail of his obvious relief.
“Mm, careful, I’d risk anything if it meant you would touch me.”

Gay Easter Eggs in BBC Sherlock
Tumblr media
(I trust the above requires no explanation.)
Perhaps someone has done this before, but I wanted to put together a compilation of gay easter eggs in the show that I’ve seen other people point out and/or have thoughts on myself. So here it is!
When I say “easter eggs,” I’m thinking of small clues that the show creators included in the set designs, music choices, and other details of the show to reference that Sherlock and John are in love. I’m thinking of things you could miss at first, especially little clues that often require a bit of extra information or require observations across episodes to understand.
Of course, there’s also lots of subtext woven into the show, moments where interpreting the dialogue or visuals in a certain way tells us something about Sherlock, John, and/or the state of their feelings for one another. I’m not sure if I can clearly define “subtext” versus “easter eggs” and explain what distinguishes them, but at least to me, several of the things I’ve listed here seem a bit different from what people often refer to as subtext. Maybe subtext is about uncovering the layers to a piece of dialogue or an action that takes place in plain sight and seeing how that impacts our interpretation of the story, but easter eggs are about spotting smaller, hidden details. I’m not trained in literary or film studies, though, and I’m not trying to be doctrinaire about this at all! This list is just for fun, anyway. (The above image might not actually count as an easter egg, but I couldn’t resist including it here. Indulge me.)
The more I read about this show and the harder I look, the more I think that hardly anything is there on accident. All these easter eggs must have been included on purpose. The creators knew they were telling a love story all along.
I’ve linked to the posts where I initially saw people point these out or to other good sources, and for some of these I’ve added my own commentary/observations/interpretations. I’m sure there are many other easter eggs that I’ve missed! What have you spotted?
John’s PIN in TBB – When John tries to pay for his groceries at the beginning of the episode, we see that his PIN is 743. In ASIB, Irene’s code to unlock her phone is SHER, which would be 7437 on a phone keypad. So, John’s PIN is a clue that he is or will be in love with Sherlock. Source: @loudest-subtext-in-tv, here.
Shaftesbury Avenue, 20m from Piccadilly Circus in TBB – While investigating in Chinatown, Sherlock and John bump into each other at what used to be a cruising spot for gay men in London. Source: @the-signs-of-two, here.
Archer the American in ASIB – In the scene where the American CIA agents try to get Sherlock to open Irene’s safe, the head CIA agent pressures Sherlock by threatening to have one of his men shoot John. The agent says: “Mr. Archer, on the count of three, shoot Dr. Watson.” Ordering someone named “Archer” to shoot John could be a reference to Arthur Conan Doyle’s poem “The Blind Archer,” which is about Cupid and describes Cupid shooting two men who sound an awful lot like Sherlock and John. Source: couldntpossiblycomment, here.
“¿Dónde Estás, Yolanda?” in TEH – The song that plays during the scene with John and Sherlock’s disastrous reunion at the Landmark restaurant is a cover of the song “¿Dónde Estás, Yolanda?” performed by the band Pink Martini. The Spanish lyrics to this song are about searching for a long-lost lover, which is fitting for the scene where John sees Sherlock again for the first time since his fall. Notably, the creators didn’t use the first of the two versions of this song that Pink Martini has released. The band’s first version appears on their 1997 studio album Sympathique and features a man singing about a woman. Instead of using that version, the creators used the version from Pink Martini’s 2011 compilation album A Retrospective, in which China Forbes performs most of the vocals. So, the creators deliberately chose a remade version of the song in which a woman sings about a woman. They chose a gay song about searching for a long-lost lover for Sherlock and John’s reunion. abrae (@tea-and-liminality on tumblr) has a meta with more to say about the use of this song here.
John’s “oscillation on the pavement” in TEH – In TSOT, John observes a potential client standing outside 221B and trying to make up her mind as to whether to come in. Sherlock tells John “I’ve seen those symptoms before. Oscillation on the pavement always means there’s a love affair.” In the previous episode, John came to visit Sherlock at 221B but hesitated on the pavement outside, staring at the door and trying to decide whether to go in. Sherlock’s comment, “I’ve seen those symptoms before,” is a hint that we, the audience, have also seen those symptoms before—with John in the previous episode. Source: @bidoctor, here. (I saw someone else point out that last part about Sherlock’s hint to the audience, but I can’t find that post, sorry!)
Lilac dresses in TSOT – While planning John and Mary’s wedding, Sherlock chooses lilac-colored dresses for the bridesmaids. When John tells Sherlock that he likes the bridesmaids in purple, Sherlock pointedly corrects him by stating that the dresses are lilac. Apparently, “In Victorian times, giving a lilac meant that the giver is trying to remind the receiver of a first love.” So by dressing the bridesmaids in lilac, Sherlock is trying to remind John of his first love: himself, Sherlock. My heart breaks. Source: @asherlockstudy, here.
Putting the horns on Mary and Janine in TSOT and HLV – In TSOT, there’s a shot where Mary gives Sherlock and John a thumbs up before they head out on a case. The way Mary is standing, the horns on Sherlock’s cow skull thing on the wall behind her are placed right over her head. (I always thought this shot looked pretty weird, but now I see that it must have been intentional!) In the HLV scene with Janine at 221B, there’s a moment when Janine steps in front of John in the frame to kiss Sherlock, and her movement positions the horns right over her head. “Putting the horns” on someone means cheating on them. So in both cases, placing the horns right above Mary’s and Janine’s heads indicates to the audience that Sherlock and John are the real relationship in this show. Source: this post from multiple users on the @sherlockmeta blog.
The architecture of Sherlock’s mind palace in HLV – In the mind palace scene after Mary shoots Sherlock, the architecture of Sherlock’s mind palace is based on locations from ASIP. Sherlock literally built his mind palace out of places from his first case with John, illustrating that his relationship with John is what grounds him and that it means everything to him. abrae has some very helpful screencaps of this here (and I would recommend that whole meta, btw!)
The glasshouse scene in TAB – In TAB, the Victorian John tries to ask Sherlock about his sexuality and sexual history while they’re sitting in a glasshouse. In Victorian Britain, “glasshouse” was another term for a military prison. So John, a military veteran, asks Sherlock about his sexuality in a setting that represents where he would have been sent if he had acted upon his homosexual desires at a time when homosexuality was criminalized. Source: @haffieliesel, here.

✨ Bruce Wayne Headcanons that haunt me but I refuse to elaborate on even if they're utterly wrong Pt. 2✨
Going feral over this man
Hal and Bruce almost share a birthday and it fucking infuriates Bruce for no reason.
My guy was a rebellious teenager growing up, you know, trauma baby tings but also wanting to distance himself from the elite society (I mean rich Gotham really is a different cesspool of evilness lmao who can blame the poor guy.) Not to get deep but the beginning of his crusade was him wanting to seek a life and identity beyond the Wayne name right and witness Gotham from all angles. However, after realising he can both honour and build upon his legacy, Bruce destroyed any proof of this phase as he associates it with his turbulent and troubled coming of age. Little does he know there's a box filled with Polaroids within the 73288199 attics of Wayne Manor ready for his kids to find plus his detailed knowledge about the punk scene of Gotham makes them suspicious anyway.
Bruce learns a lot from his children. He may be their mentor but he's definitely learnt acrobatic tricks from Dick Grayson, combat and body language from Cass etc etc. Black Canary one day complimenting an acrobatic move of Bruce's only for him to have learnt it from one 11 year old Dick Grayson.
Bruce knows every nook and cranny of the watchtower. This guy designed, funded and helped build this fucking thing. Superman can hear him fuckin scurrying in the hundreds of boiler rooms, hidden corridors and storage rooms like a human rat. Flash doesn't understand how this man just teleports from one end of the tower to the other not knowing Bruce built trapdoors, hidden passageways, fake walls in this place. Bruce has a hiding spot in the upper levels of the watchtower where a small window gives view to Earth. J'onn is the only leaguer who can rival Batman in his watchtower knowledge.
He is the unofficial caretaker of the justice league. He makes sure all catering and quarters are fully equipped to people's needs. Overhears a leaguer saying there aren't enough vegetarian options? Bam, fully renewed menu. Barry complaining he can't sleep because his quarter is too cold? Bam, temperature risen. Small things like office supplies, medical equipment - he's always taking mental notes of. He knows what leaguer is allergic to what too. Lad keeps the watchtower STOCKED
The League never fails to wish a member a happy birthday. Somehow word always gets out and no one really knows how the date gets around. It's Bruce. He knows everyone's birthdays. Sometimes photogenic memory doesn't work in his favour. When it comes to respect, compassion and love - Bruce isn't the verbal type. He prefers to show it through action - I mean he crusades around Gotham to show his need to protect people for God's sake. Therefore, he sets like a reminder anonymously on the watchtower monitor for some random hero to find.
My guy HATES Asmr.
Bruce's hair is naturally thick and actually pretty darn curly. Superman is renowned for having the curls, but Bruce - with dirty, grown out hair - can give him a run for his money. His curls never show though as he keeps his hair very short and often has it sleeked back in public (as Thomas and Alfred always told him it was neater and more proper that way.)
He is a PERFECT mix between Thomas and Martha. Everyone who ever meets Brucie Wayne for the first time tells him he's the spitting image of both of them.
My man was a heartthrob in the 90s. Dick and Tim frequently Google "Bruce Wayne 90s" and bust a gut laughing at how their old man is like in every fuckin teenage magazine published in that decade.

I've seen 3 other ppl here on Tumblr do a magical Girl AU for the Batfam. I wanna jump on that bandwagon, too.
But I don't wanna copy someone else outright, so I'm still working on the designs. ( I am thinking of going hard light/hologram with adjustable tangibility for the details that would make movements easier, but we still got ruffs and bows. Possibly shoes with transformer heals using the same holo hard light so they can be falts and heals.) But I do know what weapons I wanna give them. (I also am thinking on making like the weapons kinda like in Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha. So magic tech-like. So we can get the moment where Bruce believes it's Tech when it's the thing he really doesn't like cuz he doesn't get Magic rules. ) However, regarding the story in all the clutter. Dick finds a music box hidden on the manner grounds. (buried? in dusty attic? Somewhere he shouldn't have been going?) It has little robins on it. It Has a false bottom, and out of it drops a bracelet with a peculiar picture charm bracelet with R image with a gem detail. Dick puts it on out of curiosity. Little does he know he is now magical girl cursed. It only comes to a head once he tries to become a hero and says no, in this universe, not letting Dick join him. Dick tries to join anyway by following. Bruce gets in a tight spot and really could use the backup. Dick tries to jump in, but the moment he decides to help, boom, "magical girl." I said it was a curse, so he looks like one, not only clothing-wise but physically, too. (curse only applies when being a hero; think starlights from Sailor Moon) So now Dick is out there pummeling villains with magic flags. (he has yet to unlock alt and lethal modes, got to have power-ups you know) Bruce is thankful for the help, but, it's Bruce. He tries to find out who Dick is; Dick Says, Call me Robin (Dick should be his lucky star. The curse comes with a magic girl veil of obscurity, meaning even if you should know who they are, magic makes you unable to connect the dots.) Here, the cat-and-mouse game starts and continues. Cuz one by one, the kids go snooping and get cursed. Robin recognizes Robin. So when Babs and Dick realize the other is cursed. There was a lot of back-and-forth. Based on the gem color of their costumes, they settled on both being Robins. So Dick has a blue gem on his, so he's Robin Sapphire / Robin "Saf"/ RS. Babs is Robin Jasper/ Robin Jazz / RJ, and her gem is Orange. And going down the line, it's the same story. Jay is Robin Ruby/ Robin Rue/RR. (Red) Tim is Robin Emerald/ Robin Ema/ RE (Green) Stef is Robin Ametyst/ Robin Amy/ RA (Purple) Damien is Robin Diamond/ Robin Dia / RD (White/Clare) Cassandra is Robin Onyx / Robin Nyx / RO (Black) Duke is Robin Topaz/ Robin Arty / RT (Yellow) But I promised weapons for this post, so here they are; vids are to show weapons usage with the performers knowing their craft. Big fckn redesigns here. Well mostly Charlie but Vaggie somewhat too 🥰🥰
Tumblr media
Blue fits Charlie soooo much and I cease to see that many redesigns with this color. I still want red to be used in most of their designs because well. They are in hell, but not too present so to make way for other unique colors. Charlie has several physical traits from her parents but also she has some details in her clothes that match with them. When I uhh, introduce their designs you'll see lmao. I also tried to make her have a more roundish design, I jst LOVE those typ of designs omg. I just want the characters with not too many sharp corners pls Viv bro... 😔 oh yeah she's mixed cuz her mom's are darker in their redesigns. Alot of their genetics went down to Charlie so she doesn't look like an exact copy of Lucifer, I kind of hate that trend with hh and hb characters, like did the moxxies dad give birth to him bro 😭 also I kept her bow because it looks so cute and silly on her it just fits, I wish they made it bigger in her show design because it would fit her silliness so much. She has a cape with stars because morningSTAR smh why didnt they do something fun with that, missed potential but whatevs yknow I still love og designs no matter what anyone sayss. Did you know I love Charlie, I could ramble for days. I think I love Charlie guys. Maybe jst a hunch idk... also... s-snake fangs.. jeepers anddd..... snake tongue.... shiver me timberz
Tumblr media
The wife ever. I had animation in mind more when I designed her, not like in a "How easy or hard would this be to animate" way. But I like to imagine when she's shocked her hair kind of fluffs out plus her actual fluff, when she's mad her bow turns into kind of horns and then her jacket expands like wings. Gave her a more hotel like outfit, she likes to work for fun (ew). Her socks are socks but she has some fluff under them she just tries to cover it up because she hates herself 🤪 (she doesn't hate her bigger body she actually feels much more comfortable chubby than when she was skinny with Adam. She was burdened with the weight of Adam's image of women... In this sorta rewrite she gained weight when she goes to the hotel because she's more happy. I'm dying I love chub Vaggie so much guys please) headcanon: she kind of likes fashion, it's like a fun hobby of hers to stitch together clothing and go out and buy clothes she'll never wear. She taught Charlie how to stitch and she SUCKS so you can jst see it on Charlie's pants.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Second outfits! Charlie's hotel uniform for. Well. Hotel stuff. She usually only wears it when new people come to the hotel, which.... isn't often, if at all. She still likes to keep it just in case. Also she goes really cartoonish when it happens, she does the looney tunes run and changes into her clothes in like 2 seconds. Can you see my vision? 😭😭
Vaggie's is in her armor. She has several pairs of armor lying around in the hotel in completely hidden spots. It's kind of surprising uhh. Yeah she wears it alot more than Charlie wears her alt uniform but still rare to find her in it. I don't get the whole thing with the exterminators and them not being able to fight according to Carmilla. Which is kinda stupid, I'm not gonna lie. So, instead of that, Vaggie has just let her guard down and has gotten much more comfortable in her surroundings so she feels like she doesn't need to fight anymore, she's just gotten rusty 's what I'm sayin. I have no idea how to draw armor. You can tell...
Extra below cut vvvv

BABY CHARLIE!!! With the heads of my redesigns for Luci, Eve, and Lillith. Haha you still cant see them. Uhh, ill definitely finish the thing one day. Its not even that big of a project thing, i think i jst keep going to other drawings so im like not focusing on one thing lmao. Lucifer has heterochromia because he was cursed to forever be reminded of his betrayal. I only explained that because Charlie has it too, it's kind of a curse on the entire blood line where at least one eye is red. This is like. Slightly older Charlie than the baby Charlie in show? I jst wanted to put her in overalls cuz omg that's jst so cute ughhh 😭😭

A Sims 4 Horse Ranch* review, by a Simmer who's not all that into horses
* Software not final. Sponsored by EA.
First, many thanks to EA/Maxis for the early access! This was a treat for me, to get access to an early build to try out for a while, as I'm not exactly a high-profile streamer. Or a streamer at all. Or even a creator (though I'll upload a household I came to love to the Gallery when I get a chance!). But I do love this game! And I love that I can help more of you play it the way you want to. Anyway, the review…
What I liked!
The great range of build/buy! I'll get LOTS of use out of this. It complements some other packs well too.
There are lots of helpful rooms in build mode for fast stables and nectar-related spaces! As a non-builder who sometimes tries to build, I was really happy to have a premade horse stall for my lot.
Tumblr media
[image: a pre-built stable room in Build mode]
There's lots of Teen–Elder clothing and hair, and I love the dirty clothes swatches. I'll get LOTS of use out of this pack's CAS! And it will go well with styles from some other packs, too.
The new Afro-textured hairs are a welcome recognition that the cowboy culture of the Old West was not a White culture — there were lots of Black, Hispanic, and Indigenous cowboys and entrepreneurial women in the Old West!
I deeply appreciate the Indigenous content in build/buy, recipes, and CAS — I could see lots there in CAS, for example, that the Navajo people I saw and met in Utah and northern New Mexico (which is a part of the world I really want to go back to) wore IRL.
Lots range from fairly small (15 x 20) to quite large. I appreciate the range as someone who isn't a fan of building on large lots when I do build. There are horse practice areas in the land around some small lots, so you can still keep a horse there.
For Strangerville owners who love that landscape (which I do!), there's now somewhere for that valley, with its smaller population, to be "near". I can imagine that you'd drive up into a range from the new world and drop down into hidden Strangerville. Driving the other direction might take you to Oasis Springs.
The horse-riding and other horse animations are really detailed and fluid. They interact a lot with each other, too. I felt like parent and child horses recognized their relationship even.
Tumblr media
[image: a mare lovingly nuzzling her foal]
The sheep and goats are endlessly adorable. Plus profitable! :D And they can sleep in your house!
The rabbithole adventure location out in the countryside has a very different gameplay than previous ones! And it has great sound effects -- play it with the volume up! It's hard to find, though. But it was nice to not need other tricks to get access. (I still have not done the secret places in Oasis Springs or the Outdoor Retreat pack!)
What I didn't like:
No new fridge, stove, bathtub, or toilet (I do like getting more of those!)
Very little boys' children's clothes. And no chaps for Children, even though they can ride and even though Toddlers got some
I would have liked a higher-tech/automated version of a nectar maker. However, this isn't a feature I care about much anyway.
You can't breed the mini goats and sheep, and there aren't even smaller baby ones. I'd have liked to have a full-on sheep farm. I like sheep. (I can practically see my husband glaring about how much I like sheep, even though he's waaaaay far away at the office right now.)
Tumblr media
[image: a smiling, leaping mini-sheep, with a spotted goat behind it]
I definitely would never have found the countryside rabbithole without help, but maybe you will? If I could figure out how to do spoilers here, I would...
The horse-toy balls are a little… glowy? for my taste. They also weren't where I looked for them in the catalog, so you'll want to use search for them.
Cross-pack things?
I'd have liked to check out these before now, but with the pre-patch builds, that's not an option, and I'm always kind of busy when patches come out! For example ...
How do cats and dogs interact with horses, sheep, and goats?
Can horses be familiars for spellcasters?
Are there new Milestones?
Are there new Lifestyles?
Are there new Club rules, and are there enough of those?
This Simmer needs to know! (And eventually will.)
Neat things to know!
There's a rabbithole building in town where you can change or plan outfits like a dresser! And just off the main road in town there's a rabbithole building where you can buy goats, sheep, and groceries and other useful things, like horse age-up treats. I liked having an alternative way to buy these things and a whole new way to plan outfits. I'd be happy for more of that. If I can't go into a building, I might as well at least be able to pretend I can. As long as they don't end up being worlds stuffed with rabbitholes in place of gameplay (actually watching horse competition would have been nice!).
You can use a Community Board in town (or from B/B if you want one on your lot) to take local one-off jobs for money. Most need you to own a Horse or some sheep or goats. There are lots of ways to make money as a rancher without needing someone in the household to have a job. My relatives who are farmers will be seriously jealous.
Get to know that Crinkletop guy! He's very useful.
Bugs? Bugs!
Things to watch out for that were issues for me in the early-access build, which is NOT the release build, so hopefully it's a bit better:
Ranch dancing is EXTREMELY popular. You might want to not keep a radio at home until the new dancing has a mod to … moderate it. Or is tuned down by the devs. But I do like it when I'm in control!
Tumblr media
[image: five Sims ranch dancing (line dancing) as a group, including two Don Lothario and Eliza Pancakes]
The beautiful stone fireplace was also very, very popular, and of course potentially deadly. Watch out for that.
Ranch hands are NOT reliable. They might stay really, really late. They might stop showing up after a couple days. They might forget the things you instructed them NOT to do the day before. They might be super into kicking the garbage bin over. Keep an eye on your ranch hand. At least until the day, someday, when they get fixed. I'm hoping this is also moddable for those of us on PC.
At one point I had a weird bug where my Sim decided she would NOT eat. The rest of the household could eat. Guests could eat. They could eat HER food. It was fixed by going to the world map and back into the household, so I didn't find out if she was going to just starve to death.
I couldn't find some of the new CAS at first because some men's outfits were under "jumpsuit" for no apparent reason. So, if you're looking for some cool outerwear, try "jumpsuits." Hopefully it was recategorized for the release build!
And that's it! I'm happy to answer questions!

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 3: Hidden Inventory 3
Tumblr media
I'll be the first to say it, this episode is markedly better than the prior two. It's better in quite a few different ways, though is still peppered with quite a few complaints. Would I say that things are looking up? Probably not, no. Would I say there's a chance at this adaptation getting better as we go on? Quite possibly, yes. It's a very weird spot, but this episode does well almost because it doesn't try to be Jujutsu Kaisen, rather it tries to move as far away from it as it can, and it's in the pieces that are central to JJK that you understand something is wrong. Confusing yes, but hopefully I can break down my thoughts into more detail with this post.
I like to call what I've just described the "Tanya The Evil Effect". It's an aspect where the depiction of a story and its events ends up so far deviated in tone and experience, that when under good direction and work you can still value and appreciate it as something disparate from the source material.
The episode director isn't in over their head this episode, Gosso isn't hamfisting excessive and incoherent direction into the content at large, there's just a lot of stuff that greatly divorces this episode from Gosso's vision at large, and is part of why it remains successful.
I still think there's things that are silly and pointless changes for the sake of cutting corners, like this sequence of Kuroi and Geto talking where they're static in the anime vs in motion in the manga. It's just one of those simple things that provides context and agency to the situation. Why would Geto and Kuroi be standing still if Amanai is in danger?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you take a closer look at the episode, it's actually quite odd. There's a lot of direction that's bog standard, just characters in frame standing still. But then you get random bursts of direction that are surprisingly solid, like this piece of Amanai behind the fence/bars, symbolizing her isolation and feeling of being prisoner to her role as the Star Plasma Vessel. Arguably one of the only scenes that makes proper use of the change of scenery from the rooftop rendezvous of the manga.
Tumblr media
Anyways, onto Okinawa. I'm disappointed, but also surprised. Incredibly sad to not see Gojo's summer hairstyle on display, but I also feel like with a lot of these scenes, this is the closest we'll manage to S1/manga humor parity.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alright, back into disappointment mode. Very sad that they didn't include this pose/panel for Haibara and Nanami. Why don't we just continue to strip the characterization and style of this cast more, MAPPA? Also, poor Haibara man. Nanami's already a lost cause sadly, but I at least had a bit of hope for Haibara in spite of the early showings of their character design. Even worse than I was expecting to be honest. The energy and slightly goofy nature just does not exist within him in the anime.
Have to shout out my boy Asta/Tadano though. Love seeing Gakuto Kajiawara getting more and more VA roles.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Where was I? Oh yeah, Okinawa. This is now a drama anime, plain and simple. The framing/layouts/etc are all very much drama leaning, and it's well done. It's just that compared to what the manga offers.... it's, well, decidedly not it. Also, unsure why, but random scenes in the episode are very low-res? I know Tumblr compression does not help at all, but this scene in particular is incredibly grainy and odd. There's also something wrong here in how dull Gojo and Geto's colors are in the shade compared to how vibrant the scene is in the light. I wouldn't call it bad compositing, but the color design doesn't feel quite right. I mean, the second image is of them in the exact same spot under the shade, but it looks so much better? The environment art is sharper in their vicinity, the character designs are more detailed, there's proper shading, and the colors seem way more accurate/realistic.
Maybe I've just gotten used to the poor compositing/coloring of the series to be honest, because at first glance I didn't actually think it was as inconsistent as I'm finding it to be.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also, shoutout MAPPA hating on Geto again man. This dude is just stepped all over through these episodes and it hurts me so much. His expressiveness is totally stripped away from him and replaced with some hollow smile that I'm sure anime onlies can even tell carries no weight. Like please tell me, who are these two people in the anime??? It just hurts, and it's the tip of the iceberg for the issues with faces and expressions.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Personally speaking, I think this one is the biggest failure from MAPPA. They literally did this exact defeated smile Geto loves to wear in JJK 0, and they can't repeat it for S2? It's just so painful to see them totally mismanage the characters despite having simpler designs so they can "be more expressive".
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That's enough bemoaning what's happened to poor Geto, allow me to return to why this episode is actually better (though it only really borders on good) than the prior ones: that drama feel. They extend what's displayed in the manga of Amanai and co's Okinawa trip, and it's pretty well done. I'd say as a manga reader though? I don't really care, and I don't think it adds a great deal to the experience in the first place with how they chose to add things. The scenes are pretty and some of the best displayed in the episode though, of course. The good old MAPPA special of placing insane effort into original pieces while giving the source material the cold shoulder.
Okay, one little piece of criticism (though it's actually sorta big). MAPPA just can't keep their little paws off of messing up characters for some reason. It's a simple thing, I know, but it's also why I'm complaining about it. There was no need. No need to have Amanai place her hands behind her back, to do something that her character never did even once in the manga. But they do, and it changes the tone of Amanai simply walking through an aquarium, to Amanai placing more thought in the experience. A very frustrating and needless change that weighs down the actual potential displayed in the sequence at large.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyways, what makes this piece of the original adaptation good? Well, the use of the symbolism of fish was already strong in the manga thanks to Gege, as its used to further show Amanai's isolation and the lack of a group that she can exist alongside/be with. That part remains clear in the anime thankfully. The piece that adds to it though is the parallel between the aquarium and its customers. They place the idea of Amanai's isolation compared to the fish on top of the people visiting the aquarium. Sounds a little odd maybe but I'm bad at explaining, but the point is to show the isolation Amanai feels from seeing the fish (and whales) in the aquarium as a palpable and noticeable thing that she actively experiences.
Tumblr media
Of course, I'm not without complaints, but I feel like it's easier to let it slide if you don't look deeply at this sequence. If you see it as something untethered to Amanai's character, the weird extra cuts of the fish swimming freely in the aquarium is fine, but putting it alongside the context of Amanai's character it's pretty confusing and excessive. Why spend all that time fixating on the movements of the fish trapped in an aquarium, relegated to their current fate? Feels like a tone deaf movement for some odd pursuit of artistry that neglects the function of the sequence.
Alright, on to the next butchered character/sequence! Toji and Gojo. Man, I knew what to expect considering they showed viewers as much of the "good" stuff as they could, but I didn't think it was going to get this weak.
I knew Toji was going to suffer, but I mean, how different can you really get and still call it the same character? What a weird shit-eating grin in the anime versus the far more creepy and naturally twisted smirk that rests on Toji's face. It's just incredibly bothersome to see them fail so miserably with reactions that are so important to characters.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And I mean, they do it again, and again, and again. The whole flashback sequence is meant to be played off like horror, and up until the reveal is well done. It's got tension, a cheesy horror soundtrack. It's got the potential to actually do something with the appeal it's aiming for, but it ultimately fails because what is Toji's reaction here? It's supposed to be the thing that he fears/despises/disgusts, but all that shows on his face is plain surprise? Compare that to the manga, and you see how flat and lifeless this reaction is.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay okay last one before I move on. What kind of pose is this? He's so relaxed and standing like he's already superior to Gojo, like he knows he could win effortlessly. It is absolutely not the pose and expression of a man set to go up against arguably the most feared sorcerer of his time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyways, action and stuff. I don't think it's terrible. As I'd already established though it's not JJK action. It takes well done choreography and layouts, and reduces it to flashy cuts that viewers can barely piece together in time. What's more worth talking about is how dim and over processed the sequences are. They just end up looking so out of place no matter what MAPPA tries to do. Also man, the S2 OST really does stink. Even in a tense action sequence there's just zero heart in it. Such a massive flop compared to the electric work on S1 and 0.
Tumblr media
Okay, yes, Keiichirou Watanabe's animation for Gojo's Blue is well done. But, if the camera wasn't having a seizure I'm sure it would be better received. Of course, same issues in regards to the prior statement about action with the dimming and over processing too. Wastes a lot of potential that the cut had to be a genuinely great piece of animation in the context of JJK. It still undeniably is, beneath all of the additional oddities that bury it, but it's pretty far removed from JJK.
If you want to understand what I'm saying, take a look at Hanami vs Yuji and Todo (Watanabe did the cut of Hanami's massive branch attack). Yes, the compositing is better for Gojo's blue, but take a look at the camera work. How much effort it places into keeping the duo in frame, how hard it tries to keep things cohesive and easy to follow. It's a night and day difference that shows the importance of a director in delivering the best version of someone's animation.
Anyways, here's Gojo's Blue sequence, as a video. Too long to make into a reasonable quality gif, and also insanely flashy and all over the place so nicer than having seizure material auto-play in two places at once.
Alright, so uh, Gojo dies, Toji pulls up with the gat and domes Amanai right in front of Geto, following it up by announcing that he killed Gojo. And then the episode ends. Honestly? I loved the ending just cause I know it'll cause so much chaos for viewers.
The episode overall though? It's weird that I think it noticeably better than the prior two when I've complained about so much, but maybe it's one of those things where the closer you get to being correct, the more faults you find in the thing being examined. Regardless, it feels like Toji's been incredibly nerfed from a viewer's perspective compared to the manga (alongside Geto and plenty of others), and honestly I had next to no hype for their actual sequence because it all felt so disjointed. The pacing of it felt off, and the action just didn't grab me with it's super flashy, highly processed, up close and personal so you can't quite tell what's going on combat. I'd say it's still a flop compared to what S1 would offer in comparison for big moments, but it's also done better on average when compared to the prior two episodes.
Pacing is of massive concern now though. We're three episodes in, with a total of five. It took us three episodes to make 8 chapters total, and we've got 6 though more likely 7 chapters of content left to cover for this arc, with only 2 episodes remaining. "Oh that's not too bad", except for the fact that there's the massive upcoming fight alongside us still having to get through Toji vs Geto. Even with the 6 instead of 7 chapters, even if they don't add any original content, they're speed-running at a minimum of 3 chapters for the last two episodes, which is pretty damn bold.
Is Hidden Inventory/Gojo's Past going to hold on and make it to the end in its current state, or will it rush itself to an early grave? Next episode will certainly be the deciding factor, but whatever it is, I'm not exactly hopeful of where we're going to be left.

Hi omg I adore your art (esp your yttd stuff) just. Everything about it is just so cool I’ve sent it to my freimds a couple times being like “YOO LOOK AT THIS COOL ARTIST” and I was wondering if you could/if you have given advice on how to diversify ur art? Like, I personally struggle wit the fact I can probably draw a total of 4 hairstyles and probably have a real bad case of same face syndrome, and while I’m really trying to practice I keep looking to your stuff as a prime example of good™️ amd was hoping you could give some pointers
Augh it’s late sorry if this makes no sense or is like single-handedly the most annoying ask you’ve ever seen
thank you so much for your kind words!! <3 I'd be happy to share some character design tips I've learned over time.
now before I start, I just want to emphasize that none of this is new or revolutionary by any means, nor am I an expert. I still have plenty of room to grow myself! I'll just be sharing my reasoning for specific character design details as examples of character design theory at large, utilizing my yttd designs as examples because I've had almost two years to get comfortable with my styles for them.
the two biggest things that have helped me in character design are to 1. emphasize the character's personality/identity/hidden agendas through their design and 2. draw fat characters. I cannot stress how important it is to get comfortable with drawing more body types. it is vital to character design diversity, and it sets characters apart in more ways than just color and hairstyle.
it is also the backbone of shape theory, which is an excellent, subtle way to clue the audience into what a character might be like. take my Keiji design for example:
Tumblr media
Keiji presents himself as an upstanding, reliable person that others that can depend on - hence, his form is big, tall, and solid, like a sturdy wall. big, blocky shapes make up his body. but his body language is conflicting, with one open, inviting arm and the other hidden behind his neck.
what sets the viewer off about what he's really like is the expression. shady eyes, never anything wider than a smirk on his lips, permanent eyebags - whatever has happened to this guy, it's taken a toll.
I'd also like to take this time to point out hair, since you mentioned it; I'm a big fan of bangs as a form of character expression! Keiji's are shaggy and messy, nearly falling over his eyes to add to the shady look. as for the rest of the shape of the hair, I like to start from the part (easy to spot in my Keiji design - just look for the brown hair!) and go from there in either direction.
don't be afraid to keep it simple! I used to be unable to end short hair in anything other than a mullet because I wasn't sure how to resolve it, but usually, all you need is just a single line to define the back of the neck. and again, shape language is your friend here! just look at the difference between Sara and Joe's hair:
Tumblr media
Sara's hair is easily parsed into angles and blocks - it is orderly and uptight, just like the image she projects as a star student. on the other hand, I couldn't even find regular shapes in Joe's!! the messy spontaneity of it speaks a lot to how he is as a person! Keiji's hair is somewhere in-between; it's got that blocky orderliness as a nod to his time as a policeman, but it's just messy enough to suggest something's off.
we'll look at Shin next. he's another character with lots to hide, but he goes about it a very different manner, hence the different build:
Tumblr media
Shin is one of my designs where I think shape theory especially shines. without his protective scarf and big coat, the guy is tiny. he looks vulnerable and weak, and he knows it - hence his hunched posture, as if he's curling in on himself to protect his vital organs. it's like how cats hate being pet on their stomachs, you know?
add the scarf and the jacket though - and he actually has a presence now! he's still a bit curled in, but for different reasons: the scarf is heavy on his shoulders, quite literally weighing him down.
focusing on his face though - I give Sara and Shin similar facial features (long noses, heavily angled profiles) to emphasize their nature as foils. it's especially obvious here, I think:
Tumblr media
despite being at such odds, they're very similar people - and small details in design choices can help clue the viewer into drawing these similarities, even on a subconscious level.
and I think that's all I've got for now! hope this helped just a little bit! good luck!

…sigh. Alright, what is this ship called? Veesha? Vasha? Mee? Mashee?
(trying to get a screenshot where Masha’s hand didn’t look super awkward in the foreground never needed to be this difficult)
And hey, just saying, I get the feeling that Masha, if anything, would be even more interested in you if they knew you were a shapeshifting snake girl from another dimension Vee. Just saying.
Tumblr media
Masha figures out that the symbols is supposed to be a rebus with images substituting words. The thing I thought was a soundwave in front of the ear was an H, spelling out ”hear” (or possibly ”here”).
Based on this revelation, the witchlings (as soon as Masha conveniently leaves the frame and thus can’t hear what they’re talking about) figure out that the bottom three symbols spell out ”Titan’s blood.” Which is what I guessed this map was leading them to all along, so that’s not a huge revelation for me.
But let’s go back to the top half of the rebus. Eye Hear. Which can spell out a few things. I hear. I here. Eye here.
Looking at the map again, I notice that the red line seems to go from the Eye symbol to the X that marks the spot, which makes me suspect that might have something to do with things. Maybe there’s some eye symbol they need to look for where the titan’s blood is hidden. The portal door has an eye on it, so saying ”Eye here” and then marking the spot makes sense… kinda. I dunno, maybe it’s only in my head.
Otherwise I’m not sure what it’s supposed to mean yet. I hear… hear what?
Tumblr media
You know I gotta screenshot some cute stuff.
Let’s see… we’ve got the kids watching a movie and… I think that might be a reference to Hocus Pocus?  No wonder Willow and Amity both aren’t looking too impressed. Whatever you do, no one read these girls Roald Dahl’s The Witches.
It also looks like Luz honored Eda’s wishes and went on a beach episode together with Amity. It’s must’ve been an experience, swimming in a non-boiling sea for the first time.
We also have the river rapids, with Luz looking ecstatic, Amity, Vee & Gus being in various stages of panic, and Hunter stoically to the side. Can’t tell if he’s nervous but doesn’t want to show it, or if he’s just kinda unimpressed.
I am confident in saying he’s definitely panicking as he’s being attacked by a swarm of bees, as would most people. What did you even do to piss them off, Hunter? Oh, and it’s a nice detail that the flowers Willow is tending to in the picture is the same kind as she has taped in the photo album.
Tumblr media
I see my snake daughter thriving and I’m loving it.
I feel like the fireflies might be a call-back to the lightning bugs Luz used to charge her phone back during season two.
I’m gonna pretend that the leaf taped in the album is the same leaf that Vee used to tickle Willow’s nose in the picture, even though it clearly isn’t.
Amity continues to be this episodes punching bag as we see her struggling to make perfect circles during glyph training and getting flustered when Willow photographed her and Luz sharing a milkshake.
Tumblr media
Nice bit of continuity: that vase Gus is juggling with is the same vase we saw Camila use in Reaching Out. An even nicer bit of continuity is that there’s a different flower in the vase than the one Camila put there in Reaching Out. Since that was a few months ago and most flowers don’t last that long in vases. Unless they’re lego flowers, like all the ones I have.

New Releases
Maybe it has been happening every year and I didn't notice, but this January brought a fabulously large amount of new releases and I am not complaining. Here are a few we're watching for this week.
The Davenports (The Davenports #1) by Krystal Marquis Dial Books
The Davenports are one of the few Black families of immense wealth and status in a changing United States, their fortune made through the entrepreneurship of William Davenport, a formerly enslaved man who founded the Davenport Carriage Company years ago. Now it’s 1910, and the Davenports live surrounded by servants, crystal chandeliers, and endless parties, finding their way and finding love—even where they’re not supposed to.
There is Olivia, the beautiful elder Davenport daughter, ready to do her duty by getting married . . . until she meets the charismatic civil rights leader Washington DeWight and sparks fly. The younger daughter, Helen, is more interested in fixing cars than falling in love—unless it’s with her sister’s suitor. Amy-Rose, the childhood friend turned maid to the Davenport sisters, dreams of opening her own business—and marrying the one man she could never be with, Olivia and Helen’s brother, John. But Olivia’s best friend, Ruby, also has her sights set on John Davenport, though she can’t seem to keep his interest . . . until family pressure has her scheming to win his heart, just as someone else wins hers.
Inspired by the real-life story of the Patterson family, The Davenports is the tale of four determined and passionate young Black women discovering the courage to steer their own path in life—and love. — Cover image and summary via Goodreads
Two Can Play That Game by Leanne Yong Allen & Unwin
Sam Khoo has one goal in life: create cool indie games. She’s willing to do anything to make her dream come true – even throw away a scholarship to university. All she needs is a super-rare ticket to a game design workshop and she can kickstart her career.
So when Jaysen Chua, otherwise known as Jerky McJerkface, sneakily grabs the last ticket for himself, Sam is left with no choice. It’s war. Knowing all too well how their Australian-Malaysian community works, she issues him an ultimatum: put the ticket on the line in a 1v1 competition of classic video games, or she’ll broadcast his duplicity to everyone. Thank you, Asian Gossip Network.
Meeting in neutral locations, away from the eyes and ears of nosy aunties and uncles, Sam and Jay connect despite themselves. It’s a puzzle that Sam’s not sure she wants to solve. But when her dream is under threat, will she discover that there is more than one way to win?
Play the Game by Charlene Allen Katherine Tegan Books
In the game of life, sometimes other people hold all the controls. Or so it seems to VZ. Four months have passed since his best friend Ed was killed by a white man in a Brooklyn parking lot.
When Singer, the man who killed Ed, is found dead in the same spot where Ed was murdered, all signs point to Jack, VZ’s other best friend, as the prime suspect.
VZ’s determined to complete the video game Ed never finished and figure out who actually killed Singer. With help from Diamond, the girl he’s crushing on at work, VZ falls into Ed’s quirky gameiverse. As the police close in on Jack, the game starts to uncover details that could lead to the truth about the murder.
Can VZ honor Ed and help Jack before it’s too late? — Cover image and summary via Goodreads
Reggie and Delilah’s Year of Falling by Elise Bryant Balzer + Bray
Delilah always keeps her messy, gooey insides hidden behind a wall of shrugs and yeah, whatevers. She goes with the flow—which is how she ends up singing in her friends’ punk band as a favor, even though she’d prefer to hide at the merch table.
Reggie is a D&D Dungeon Master and self-declared Blerd. He spends his free time leading quests and writing essays critiquing the game under a pseudonym, keeping it all under wraps from his disapproving family.
These two, who have practically nothing in common, meet for the first time on New Year’s Eve. And then again on Valentine’s Day. And then again on St. Patrick’s Day. It’s almost like the universe is pushing them together for a reason.
Delilah wishes she were more like Reggie—open about what she likes and who she is, even if it’s not cool. Except . . . it’s all a front. Reggie is just role-playing someone confident. The kind of guy who could be with a girl like Delilah.
As their holiday meetings continue, the two begin to fall for each other. But what happens once they realize they’ve each fallen for a version of the other that doesn’t really exist? — Cover image and summary via Goodreads
The Black Queen by Jumata Emill Delacorte Press
Nova Albright was going to be the first Black homecoming queen at Lovett High—but now she’s dead. Murdered on coronation night. Fans of One of Us Is Lying and The Other Black Girl will love this unputdownable thriller.
Nova Albright, the first Black homecoming queen at Lovett High, is dead. Murdered the night of her coronation, her body found the next morning in the old slave cemetery she spent her weekends rehabilitating.
Tinsley McArthur was supposed to be queen. Not only is she beautiful, wealthy, and white, it’s her legacy—her grandmother, her mother, and even her sister wore the crown before her. Everyone in Lovett knows Tinsley would do anything to carry on the McArthur tradition.
No one is more certain of that than Duchess Simmons, Nova’s best friend. Duchess’s father is the first Black police captain in Lovett. For Duchess, Nova’s crown was more than just a win for Nova. It was a win for all the Black kids. Now her best friend is dead, and her father won’t fact the fact that the main suspect is right in front of him. Duchess is convinced that Tinsley killed Nova—and that Tinsley is privileged enough to think she can get away with it. But Duchess’s father seems to be doing what he always does: fall behind the blue line. Which means that the white girl is going to walk.
Duchess is determined to prove Tinsley’s guilt. And to do that, she’ll have to get close to her.
But Tinsley has an agenda, too.
Everyone loved Nova. And sometimes, love is exactly what gets you killed. — Cover image and summary via Goodreads

One Girl In All The World (In Every Generation #2) by Kendare Blake Disney-Hyperion
Into every generation, a slayer is born. One girl in all the world . . . maybe.
Frankie Rosenberg is the world’s first slayer-witch, but she doesn’t have that slay-life balance figured out just yet. After all, being the newest slayer means that another slayer had to die. Frankie and the Scooby gang are still reeling from the deadly explosion that rocked the annual slayer retreat―and grappling with new evidence that some slayers may have made it out alive. And even though they defeated bloodthirsty vampire the Countess, it doesn’t mean Sunnydale is free from the forces of evil.
Something has reawakened the Hellmouth―and is calling old friends home. Someone is performing demon magic in the shadows, opening portals between dimensions. Everyone has demons to contend with―of the metaphorical and the very real (occasionally very hot) variety. And an oracle warns of a new evil on its way: the Darkness.
Could this be what attacked the slayers? And is it coming for Frankie? — Cover image and summary via Goodreads

I love all your AUs! If you don't mind, could you say what all the Horror Septics look like? I know you probably said it before, but I just want to be sure
Aw thank you! I'm glad you enjoy them ^-^ Hmm, been a while since I wrote Horror Septics, I should probably get to that sometime.
Anyway, I like keeping things vague in my horror writing so that your imagination can fill in the details! In my experience, the things your brain comes up with are probably scarier than any detailed description, though, of course, details do have a place in horror. But I'll give out vague general descriptions, since it has been a while since I did that.
Misery is similar to Distorter from my Switch AU in a vague way. They both have a gray color scheme and dark eyes. But Misery is generally darker, with black tear tracts leaking from its eyes. I've played with the idea of small holes in its skin, just to give nightmares to those with trypophobia. It's covered in a fine layer of dust and often has a sharp, head-swimming smell about it. But it's hard to get details of Misery since it always disappears if you look directly at it.
Sangria's appearance is pretty fluid. It always fits the general description of a person with long dark hair who wears a red hoodie/jacket/coat/hat of some sort, but all other details depend on the person, often looking like the most generic yet trustworthy person someone can think of. Its true form is thin and bony, dry like old firewood, the hood pulled up to hide all of its face except the mouth. Anyone who looks at its face without the hood will flee in terror. Though it's not scary. It's just... wrong.
Notarzt's face is also hidden, though it's the lower half instead, wearing a surgical mask to hide its mouth. No one knows what's under that. Maybe it doesn't come off. The eyes are bloodshot, and I have a distinct image of one being sewn shut but that's not necessarily canon. All sorts of stitches and stable cover its body and clothes. All of them lined with red, even the ones on the clothes. The white coat it wears is red on the inside and strangely thick.
Cait Coill is tall, and it's mostly hidden in shadow or behind the fog that always follows it around. Most of its body is hidden beneath some sort of cloak or cape, and the upper half of its face is behind a white mask that looks a bit like a cat skull, with the addition of pointed ears. It's always smiling. And when it reaches out, its hands are clawed.
Ragdoll is, well, doll-like. There are strings attached to its wrists and ankles that it uses to move around, since its legs don't work properly anymore. The joints are visible, like a pose-able artist mannequin. Its eyes are swirling spirals of varying colors.
ÁČľĿ§ä¿Ž also has a fluid appearance, looking like its target or the people close to it. Static and pixels cause its limbs to jitter, blood leaking from the spots where the white noise digs in. There are always many eyes, with green scleras and black irises. Not necessarily in the face. Sometimes it mashes together details of people it's seen, a strange overlapping of form. Really, go crazy go wild with this one. As long as you keep in mind its glitchy, bloody nature and the eyes that follow it.

Hi there, first of all, I'm a big fan of your content and I think every post you make has such an incredible level of details. I want to thank you for them cause they have helped me a lot in my journey of self discovery (which is something I value greatly).
I have been typed in the past as INTP which I think is a mistype, because I believe myself to be a Ni dom. One thing I'm not too sure about is my auxillary function. I do find a lot of information out there about how INXJ have a great sense of purpose, but INTJ's goals are more intellectual focused and self-serving, while INFJ's goals are more humanitarian focused. Now I know these are probably mostly stereotypes but I would appreciate your input. I do think my sense of purpose is directed more towards myself, and how I can gain more knowledge and become more sufficient in my personal interests. But when it comes to decision making I'm very concious of how others are affected and I do value harmony and honor greatly, which is a big giveaway to me that I might be an INFJ.
One thing I'm also curious about is whether or not I'm an ennegram 3. I don't think the INFJ and ennegram 3 combination is talked about very often, would you say they are very contradictory? I'm quite fixated on my image and how I present myself to others. I developed alot of anxiety and was very reclusive in the past due to thinking I need to work more on the perfect version of myself before presenting it to the world if that makes sense. That sounds to me like a quite unhealthy 3. I suspect my tritype to be 371, which I wonder how you think a person with that combination would present themself.
I recognise I do sound quite vain in this post but I'm genuinely very curious, and I do value your insight very much. Thank you for your time!
Yes, you're not an INTP. I don't think anything of what you say contradicts Ni dom. What you say is not enough to spot if you're INTJ or INFJ, so I'm going to talk about the key differences here:
Ni + Te = Synthesises external data to its essence, they search a clear and conceptual conclusion. They're good at setting priorities and synthetising complex ideas and concepts. Seeks tangible results, takes action only if the outcome they desire is going to happen.
Ni + Fe = Aspires to some hidden purpose in their interpersonal connections, desires to see how their visions can help the external structures that their Fe care about. Sees things in others where there’s nothing.
Ni + Fi = They follow a personal sense of direction. They have clear personal priorities/bonds which can or not be aligned with social expectations, they just don't care. They trace clear strategies that don't betray their sense of "self".
Ni + Ti = The kind of person who wants to polish their single obsession until the end, obsessive mentality of “there’s not enough; I can go deeper.” Blind to their inner contradictions. Reality is disappointing.
About your Enneagram type:
"I'm quite fixated on my image and how I present myself to others. I developed alot of anxiety and was very reclusive in the past due to thinking I need to work more on the perfect version of myself before presenting it to the world if that makes sense."
This is sp1 with a 3 fix. I don't think you're an E3. You sound too inward focused to be an E3, which is a cognitively extraverted Enneagram type who runs away from introspection and examining the self.
The sp1 embodies "worry" and a sense fo anxiety due to constantly worrying about not being perfect, desiring to meet these personal perfect standards.
I think that INFJ sp1 136 tritype is what makes sense for you based on what you wrote. Check the SP1 description!

Neopronouns in action: ze/hir/(hirs)/hirself, which follows the same rules as she/her/(hers)/herself.
"ze" can also be spelled "zhe", "zi", or "zee", and "hir" can also be spelled "hyr" among other variations :) Replace "She" with "Ze" Replace "Her" with "Hir" Replace "Hers" with "Hirs" Replace "Herself" with "Hirself"
EX:
"She is going to adopt a new puppy soon, as soon as she gets a fence set up around her yard so the puppy can go outside without her having to walk it. Her uncle is going to help set up the fence, since he has a set of power tools he's letting her use, since she lost hers."
Becomes:
"Ze is going to adopt a new puppy soon, as soon as ze gets a fence set up around hir yard so the puppy can go outside without hir having to walk it. Hir uncle is going to help set up the fence, since he has a set of power tools he's letting hir use, since ze lots hirs."
This is also a free writing prompt!
You can also listen to this story be read aloud on the web archive. (which may be slower to load, but you can download it from there) and youtube:

The Mirrored Dream
Ze had always been a misfit growing up, for as long as ze could remember. Magical ability ran in hir family, but even so, ze was a strange one. Hir abilities were different from hir mother and father's, even from hir aunts and uncles and all hir cousins. Everyone else in hir family had elemental powers of water, fire, wood, wind, and metal. But hir powers didn't manifest in the ability to control fire or move the air, or bend the water or grow trees or shape metal. Hir magical abilities came in the form of hir dreams, where, for as long as ze had been able to remember, had been more like a second world than anything else, not even close to what hir family members described their dreams as, once ze was old enough to ask them about their worlds, since, not knowing any better, ze'd assumed that what ze dreampt was normal. It wasn't. Other people didn't have entire worlds and landscapes in their dreams that they came back to night after night without fail, and most people weren't even able to remember their dreams once they woke up, while ze could remember any detail as clearly as ze could remembrer the things that happened while ze was awake. It wasn't until ze was nine that ze really began to understand the scope of hir power, what ze could do with it. It wasn't just another world in hir dreams, it was a mirror world. The people ze spoke to there were reflections of the people in this world, reflections of hir family and friends and village. The things ze did there affected hir waking world, and hir waking world affected the dreaming world. When ze was nine, ze stole a bracelet in hir dreaming world, because even there hir family didn't have much money, and ze wanted it desperately. When ze woke up again, ze realized with shock that a bracelet was around hir wrist, different to the one in hir dream, but the same. A mirror image. Ze had stolen it in hir dream, and so stole it in the waking world. Ze took off the bracelet immediately and hid it under hir bed, overwhelmed with confusion that was warring with quickly rising guilt. Ze had stolen it from Ki Beya, the craftsman who lived down the road, and he was supposed to be coming over to their house for dinner later that evening. He didn't make any mention of a bracelet being stolen, but ze didn't ask, either, too afraid to hear the answer. That night in hir dream, ze snuck the bracelet back into the display case, and when ze woke up again, it was no longer hidden under hir bed. And when ze walked down the street, ze saw it displayed in Ki Beya's shop window just as it had been before, in the exact spot ze'd placed it in the dream. Now four years later, ze was thirteen, and ze needed to figure out how to use this ability to save hir sister's life.

Why Is Deep Office Cleaning More Important Than You Think?
In today's fast-paced work environment, cleanliness is often overlooked. Most offices focus on superficial tidiness, but neglect deeper cleaning tasks. However, deep office cleaning is far more important than you might realize. It can greatly impact employee health, workplace productivity, and overall business success. If you're considering office cleaning in Silicon Valley, it's essential to understand the full scope of its importance.
Tumblr media
1. Boosts Employee Health and Well-Being
One of the primary reasons deep office cleaning is critical is for employee health. Germs, dust, and allergens can accumulate over time in carpets, air vents, and hard-to-reach corners. These particles can lead to respiratory issues, allergies, and illnesses. Regular surface cleaning isn't enough to eliminate these contaminants.
Deep office cleaning goes beyond wiping down desks and vacuuming. It involves cleaning air ducts, sanitizing restrooms, and addressing areas where dirt builds up unnoticed. When a deep cleaning schedule is in place, it reduces the spread of illness-causing germs and ensures better air quality. Healthy employees are happier, take fewer sick days, and are more productive in the long run.
2. Enhances Productivity
A clean office environment has a direct impact on productivity. When employees work in a cluttered, dirty space, they may feel distracted and stressed. Studies show that a well-organized and spotless office improves focus and efficiency. By investing in deep office cleaning, you can create a fresh, inviting atmosphere that promotes concentration and productivity.
Moreover, a clean workplace shows employees that their health and comfort are valued. This sense of care can boost morale and job satisfaction, leading to higher performance levels. Whether it's a sparkling clean kitchen or pristine common areas, the benefits of a deep-cleaned workspace are undeniable.
3. Protects Office Equipment and Furnishings
Office cleaning in Silicon Valley is not just about hygiene, but also about maintaining your office assets. Dust and dirt can accumulate inside office equipment like computers, printers, and copiers, causing malfunctions or breakdowns. Likewise, grime can build up on furniture, carpets, and flooring, leading to wear and tear.
By scheduling deep cleaning services, you help extend the life of your office equipment and furnishings. Professional cleaners use specialized tools and cleaning solutions to remove dirt from areas that are difficult to clean during regular maintenance. This investment in cleanliness pays off by reducing repair and replacement costs.
4. Creates a Positive Impression
First impressions matter, especially in business. Clients, partners, and potential employees judge a company based on their environment. A clean, well-maintained office can enhance your professional image, while a dirty or cluttered workspace can leave a negative impression.
Deep office cleaning ensures that every corner of your workspace is spotless. From the lobby to conference rooms, every area is presented in the best possible light. In the competitive Silicon Valley market, a pristine office can give you the edge by demonstrating professionalism and attention to detail.
5. Improves Safety Standards
Slips, trips, and falls are common workplace accidents, often caused by clutter or poorly maintained surfaces. Deep cleaning addresses hidden hazards, such as slippery floors, spills, or loose carpets. Regular deep cleaning ensures that potential dangers are spotted and resolved, improving overall workplace safety.
Conclusion
Deep office cleaning is more than a luxury—it's a necessity. From enhancing employee health and productivity to protecting equipment and making a strong professional impression, the benefits are clear. If you're looking for high-quality office cleaning in Silicon Valley, don't overlook the importance of going beyond surface-level cleaning. A clean workspace isn't just about appearance; it's an investment in the success and well-being of your business.
