playing. test drive/ariana grande, going crazy/exo, heart of glass/blondie, idea/taemin, tipsy/chloe x halle

“I just heard the funniest joke from Inumaki,” Nobara says, welcoming herself into your apartment. You’re not surprised, and continue with your dessert preparations. Yuuji, to your left, spares her a wave, before going back to diligently preparing the vegetables.
Maki is the only one to respond by turning slightly in her seat to raise an eyebrow at Nobara when she walks up to the island, “Since when do you think Toge is funny?”
“Not usually,” Nobara admits, taking the neighboring open seat. She crosses her arms atop the counter, and squints at you, “But he surprised me this time.”
Your eyes fidget to Maki, who seems equally confused by Nobara’s unnerving stare, then to Yuuji, who appears none the wiser, because he happily chirps, “Well, I wanna hear it! Tell us, Kugisaki!”
“He said that it was soooo kind of you to share your anniversary date with Yuuta and have us all over for dinner,” Nobara drawls, “Then I got confused, of course—but then I thought, ‘Maybe they’re secretly together and I just didn’t know. Wouldn’t be a huge surprise.’”
You flinch at that, “What do you mean that wouldn’t be a huge sur—”
“This is the funniest part, though,” Nobara squints, “He said that you’re actually married, and he meant that today is your wedding anniversary. He was pretty convincing, though. He’s very committed to the bit—even challenged me to ask you at dinner, but I figured I’d straighten it out now,” she drawls, reaching over to steal a cucumber slice from Yuuji’s station, “You’re not actually married to Yuuta, right?”
You pause, for too long. Maki’s disbelief shifts from Nobara to you, morphing into a threatening glare that makes you chuckle nervously. Yuuji keeps turning his head between you and Nobara, waiting for one of you to crack.
It’s not her. “Okay… define married,” you mumble.
Nobara all but jumps across the island, standing up and slamming her palms on the counter top. “What do you mean ‘define married’—there’s only one definition!” Yuuji frantically sweeps his preciously sliced vegetables out of her range. “You’re either married to Okkotsu or you’re not, which is it?”
You pause again. Too long this time.
“You’re fucking kidding me,” Maki says, “It’s true? Toge says that shit all the time, how he can ‘still hear wedding bells’ when you two are around. Oh, I’m going to be sick.”
“Wait, you’re married?” Yuuji quips, “Since when? You should have told me, I would have gotten you a present!”
“Okay, okay—enough!” you yell, taking a step back, “It’s… true, but it’s not what you think. Yuuta and I are legally married, but we’re not together together.”
Nobara reaches to flick you on the forehead, “What the hell does that mean?”
“It means, we’re married on paper only,” you explain, strategically placing your knife in the sink, far out of Maki and Nobara’s reach.
“Say more words,” Maki demands, “Now.”
You sigh. Even Yuuji has paused his preparations, blinking at you with those big, wide eyes, and you know for sure there’s no way out of this now.
“It happened four years ago. I—”
Despite being the one who asked you to say more, Maki is the first to cut you off, incredulous, “Four years? You’ve been married to that beanstalk for four years and neither one of you twigs thought to mention it?”
“Maki, let her finish,” Yuuji pitches in for you, reaching a comforting hand out to your shoulder, “Maybe she was dying and needed Okkotsu-senpai to sign her insurance papers so the government didn’t sweep her away! I saw that in a K-Drama once,” he smiles proudly. Nobara pinches her face in disgust, immediately refuting and calling Yuuji an idiot for believing everything he sees on TV.
“Honestly, that’s not too far off. I’m not dying—and neither is Yuuta,” you hastily correct the worried faces peering at you, “But he was sick as a kid, and long story short is something got fucked up with his insurance when his parents died. It wasn’t a big deal, at first, but it spiraled into a bunch of issues, the biggest being the threat of taking his parents’ house away from him.”
Nobara pulls back, crossing her arms. “Why didn’t Gojo just do something then? That idiot has more than enough money to spare for some petty hospital bill, even with twenty years of interest.”
“He did,” you assure her, “But then the house became its own problem. His parents didn’t leave the deed in his name, and the community board tried to say that Yuuta had no assets and wasn’t a favored candidate for their neighborhood, even if he was their son.”
“That’s bullshit,” Maki interjects.
“Yeah, totally not fair,” Yuuji pouts, “That’s his dead parents’ house and they wanted him to prove himself?”
“Pretty much,” you sigh, “Basically marriage is something that helped prove his eligibility… plus some doctored philanthropic donations on Gojo’s end, and letters of recommendation from Shoko and her co-workers.”
Nobara tuts her bottom lip out. “I don’t know, I’m not buying it.”
“No, it makes sense. I’m sure by now all his parents’ neighbors are a bunch of uptight, old heads who didn’t want some kid throwing parties nearby,” Maki argues, “But once they hear he’s a young, married, nurse with a side hustle in philanthropy, I’m sure those geezers welcomed him with open arms. Sounds like some shit my family would do, too.”
Nobara hums, factoring in Maki’s evaluation. “Okay fine. Yuuta marries you, he gets his parents’ house back and probably commits insurance fraud too,” she settles, “But what about you?—You said this was mutually beneficial, so what did you get out of it?”
You probably should talk to Yuuta about revealing all the details of your marriage to your friends, but you knew it was bound to happen sooner or later. Yuuta’s parents’ death and the issues that came along with it weren’t a secret at the time, but your problems are something you kept private. It’s a miracle you’ve gone this long under the radar, and you know Nobara isn’t going anywhere with unanswered questions.
“Permanent residency status,” you tell her, “Yuuta’s a citizen, so in marrying him, all my problems about finding a job in six weeks after graduation disappeared.”
“But… you got a job?” Yuuji questions, head tilted.
“Yeah, eventually, but I didn’t know I would, and it was either take that chance, or be forced to go back home, and my time was running out,” you reveal, twiddling your thumbs together, “Look, I would have said something at the time, but everyone had their own shit to deal with after graduation. I would have asked any one of you to marry me, but I knew Yuuta was the only one with a reason to say yes.”
The kitchen falls quiet as the news sits with your friends. Nobara and Maki’s stern disbelief slowly morphs into empathy, and Yuuji’s bright eyes grow steely with concentration as he pieces your story together.
Then he springs up, “Wait, I totally would have married you, senpai!”
You laugh, a lightness easing its way back into the room. “Thanks, Yuuji,” you lean to give him a kiss on the cheek, but you’re met with Nobara’s outstretched palm instead.
“Nuh-uh. Just because I think this marriage is insane doesn’t mean that I condone adultery.”
“It’s not adultery. I told you, Yuuta and I are married on paper only—he’s free to date and kiss whomever he pleases, and so am I,” You roll your eyes, pushing her hand away and giving Yuuji a kiss anyway, which he happily accepts, sticking his tongue out in mockery at Nobara.
Maki scoffs, “Are we sure that Yuuta knows that?”
“Of course he knows that.”
“So then why hasn’t he dated anyone?” Maki presses, eyes lowering into a teasing glare.
“I don’t know,” you shrug, “Who Yuuta does or doesn’t date isn’t really my business.”
Nobara pulls at her hair, “Yes it is. You’re his wife.”
“His contractual wife,” you correct.
“Contractual?”
“Wait—have Yuuta and Toge not totally kissed on several drunk, or am I the only one who saw that?” Yuuji interjects.
“No, that was you and Fushiguro,” Nobara says, “And nobody cares about you two right now.”
You put a hand on Yuuji’s shoulder, “I care about you, Yuuji. Please, tell us about your drunk escapades with our dear Megumi.”
“Save it, Itadori,” Maki cuts in, crushing Yuuji’s bright demeanor, “You and Yuuta are way more pathetic. Keep talking.”
“Since when do you even like to gossip?”
“Since she met me,” Nobara gleams, proudly, “Now, keep going.”
You give Yuuji an apologetic glance before continuing, “I just mean that by the end of this year, Yuuta and I can get amicably divorced without raising any suspicion. Our marriage can’t be contested as a sham, I’ll be eligible for citizenship and housing on my own, and all will be well.”
It’s quiet again, for a moment. You bite your lip in anticipation. Ultimately, you knew that none of your friends would judge you and Yuuta for what you did, but it wasn’t exactly normal to marry your friends for legal benefits, and then hide your marital status from almost everyone you knew. Still, this conversation was going about as well as it could, until Maki starts laughing.
Her laughter starts off quiet, then grows gradually, until it becomes concerning. You don’t think you’ve ever seen Maki actually laugh before—a few amused grunts, and occasional drunk giggles, yes, but full-on, blown laughter is a first. It’s scary, and as you glance at Nobara and Yuuji, you’re clearly not the only one worried.
“You actually believe that he doesn’t feel anything for you—that’s rich,” she says through laughter, clutching her stomach, “God help you if you think you can just divorce him. You two are so fucked, you deserve each other.”
“Wait, speaking of rich, did you sign a prenup? Isn’t Yuuta totally loaded now that he’s a nurse and related to Gojo—I also don’t think that you’ll be able to divorce him that easily, but if you kill him, you could be an instant millionaire,” Nobara reasons.
“That’s so shallow!” Yuuji exclaims, “Also, I’m a nurse, and I wouldn’t say I’m loaded.”
“That’s because you’re not cute like Yuuta,” Nobara mocks, “If you were, then you’d make the big bucks.”
“I’m cute!” Yuuji cries, turning to you, “I’m cute, right?”
You reach to pat his head, “Yes, Yuuji, you’re very cute. And perfectly well off enough. Yuuta works inhumane hours for his money, don’t be like him.”
“Itadori, you make, like, quadruple what the average person makes,” Maki reminds him, “You just spend it all just as quickly.”
Nobara scoffs, “Which he can afford to do because he’s a nepotism baby.”
“You just said I was poor and ugly, and now I’m a nepotism baby? Pick a story, Kugisaki!”
“I don’t have to pick shit. Nanami-san sponsors your entire life, and enables your bad spending habits,” she huffs, “Yuuta’s a nepotism nurse, too. In fact, you both make me sick.”
“Okay, then by that logic Fushiguro is also a nepotism baby!”
“Well, duh. He’s, like, the poster child for nepotism babies all around the world.”
You drown out Nobara and Yuuji’s argument, mulling over Maki’s words instead. Did she mean to imply that Yuuta would make your divorce difficult on purpose?—you don’t see why; Yuuta doesn’t have a malicious bone in his body, and it wouldn’t serve him any purpose. You didn’t sign a prenup, but you would never argue ownership over any of his assets, and you know that Yuuta knows that; he’d already given you so much, you would never try to take anything from him.
In fact, getting divorced would only open more doors for him. You don’t know if Yuuta hasn’t dated in the past four years out of some lingering loyalty to your marriage, but if that was the case, then you don’t want to stand in his way for any longer than necessary, and you especially don’t want him to grow to resent you for it. He would no longer be unnecessarily bound to you; he’d be free, legally, to carry on with his life—you would be the only one indebted to him for his boundless kindness.
Truthfully, you hadn’t thought much of your divorce throughout your marriage. You knew that after five years, you could get divorced without consequence, but you hadn’t pictured how that would go. The thought of it somehow messing with your relationship to Yuuta, and your mutual friendships makes your head hurt. Maybe you should have married Yuuji instead.
“Are you kidding, Yuuta would have mauled him,” Nobara chuckles, “Plus he would have lost his childhood home.” You blink. Guess you said that last part out loud.
Her words spark more bickering between her and Itadori, and this time you turn to Maki. It was evident that she was just as much in the dark as anybody else about your secret marriage, but, still, it seemed like she knew something that you didn’t.
“Maki, does... you said I think that Yuuta doesn’t feel anything—then what does he feel?”
Maki blinks, then shakes her head, “You clearly don’t know who you married. That’s for you and your husband to work out.” She continues, this time that same wicked laughter is back, “Just know that whatever your plan for divorce was, it’s not going to be that easy. Yuuta is stupid, clearly, but he’s not that dumb. At least, I hope not.”
You pout, shoulders slumping. That was about the most cryptic and least comforting response a person could give, but you shouldn’t have expected more from Maki. Luckily, Yuuji moves to give your shoulders a comforting rub, forgoing Nobara’s exclamations of him being a homewrecking harlot.
At this point, you can’t tell if their arguing or your overthinking is causing your headache. Maybe you should cancel this group dinner all together; there’s no way you and Yuuta won’t be the topic of conversation all night, and you’re not exactly looking forward to pairing Maki’s mystic messages with Toge’s public humiliation, unless you start consuming liquor now.
Deciding that’s the best plan of action, you turn to your cupboards to reach for a bottle of wine, pawning off popping the cork to Maki when your phone buzzes, catching your attention.
It’s a text from Yuuta, similar to one you’ve received on this day every day, for the past four years, with something a little extra tacked on this year.
from: yuuta 🌟 — happy anniversary (and i’m not just saying that because the feds are watching) (^∇^) — cheers to us, and many more! 🖤

How Crowley sets up the Overblots in every book
This is a concept I’ve mentioned off-handedly in several of my theories, but I’ve always wanted to elaborate of what I mean. I believe Crowley is behind the Overblots- and he has potentially tampered with the Overblotters magestones as well. Because no matter how powerful Crowley may be, I don’t think he has the power to affect the backstories of an Overblotter.
However, what a lot of people miss is how he SETS UP the perfect conflict and conditions for an Overblot.
Tumblr media
In Book 1, Crowley appears out of nowhere in the library to suggest the magic duel to Ace and Deuce. Without the duel, Riddle wouldn’t have had his position of power questioned in the first place, as he gets set off by his own dorm throwing eggs at him and Ace calling him out for being a “baby.” Book 1 is also where we get a taste of just how little Crowley involves himself with personal conflicts of the students- he could’ve easily outlawed the usage of Riddle’s collars if he so pleased.
I believe Book 1 is highly significant because it’s one of the only two Overblots Crowley is present in (the other being Malleus’). In both the game and the novel, Crowley doesn’t do anything to stop the Overblot, even though I’m sure he’s capable of doing it. I think in the grand scheme of things, it’s very important that Crowley is present in the first student Overblot (Riddle) in the game and the last student Overblot of the game (Malleus). It’s as if he’s purposefully watching the set up of his plans and how the last piece puts it all together.
Tumblr media
Book 2 has Crowley doing a similar thing: He fuels Leona’s jealousy and pride by suggesting that Malleus should be in the Hall of Fame. The entirety of Leona’s plans in Book 2 revolves around taking down Diasomnia- or specifically, Malleus. And isn’t it interesting how his entire plan revolves around something that CROWLEY mentioned? Although I do think Leona would’ve done something foolish regardless, something sparked within him at Malleus getting the special treatment. This, and Crowley enlists the help of Yuu and Grim on investigating who is behind the accidents at NRC.
Tumblr media
In Book 3, we see Crowley beginning to employ a new strategy: of doing nothing. Haha, it doesn’t sound like him setting up plans, does it? But ancient war strategies valued “doing nothing” when necessary for a reason. Azul’s schemes were something Crowley could’ve easily prevented, but instead, he made a contract with Azul that ensured the survival of Mostro Lounge AND forced the students to take action themselves. Crowley mentioned to Jack and Yuu that he made an arrangement with Azul on releasing all the students from last year by letting Azul continue running the Lounge. But that’s exactly why he asked Jack and Yuu to put a stop to it this year: Crowley knew if he tried to make another deal with Azul, Azul would likely ask for something more- like information or potentially even an ability, neither of which Crowley could risk happening.
Tumblr media
Book 4 is a continuation of this strategy, but it’s a lot more sly and dangerous than people think. He left Yuu and Grim almost completely isolated, with no choice but to go to Scarabia. He basically left them in a lions den! It didn’t help that he never answered the phone when Yuu needed help. And Scarabia being so isolated during winter break was the perfect time for Jamil to initiate his plans. However, it goes further back than that.
Tumblr media
Jamil would’ve been a likely candidate for Housewarden, if it weren’t for Crowley enlisting Kalim instead for money and connections. I find it interesting that Crowley uses the same type of language that Jamil despises: “you’re a clever student. Surely you understand what that means.” And this is a post for the future, but ever since then, Jamil has been trying to dig up information about Crowley, possibly to blackmail him into making him the housewarden instead. When he “hypnotized” Azul, the first thing he asked was if Azul had information on Dire Crowley. Hmm…
Tumblr media
Book 5 is an interesting and subtler case. VDC conveniently has both Vil Schoenheit and Neige LeBlanche, but I doubt Crowley had anything to do with Neige… *eyes his vacation outfit with a crow and an apple*
Tumblr media
…ANYWAY, what Crowley was directly involved in was putting the dance group into Ramshackle Dorm together. Basically a drama in the making haha, with tensions rising amongst the group. But I don’t think this was his main plan at all! After all, Vil’s Overblot had very little to do with the drama with him vs Epel. It took Vil to nearly murder Neige to succumb to his frustrations and guilt. What I do think is interesting how several people, including Rook and Malleus mentions that the barrier in the Coliseum was so strong that NO ONE outside would’ve been able to help. Overblotted!Vil could’ve killed the entire group and help was never coming in the first place.
Isn’t that suspicious? Rook claims this barrier is for exams, but why is it THAT powerful that it can hold against an OVERBLOT, where magic is casted without qualms? Especially when considering that Vil is an incredibly powerful mage? Hmm. Although I will admit that the set-up is questionable, I think Crowley had something to do with the barrier. After all, in the manga, he casts a barrier that’s able to withstand Overblot Riddle’s attacks.
Tumblr media
Book 6 is another tough one, just because Crowley has little to no involvement in the book…or so it seems. My theory gets even more wobbly here, but Crowley had to be doing something behind the scenes. He was taken away by STYX FOR WEEKS. Called before parliament, and came back without a single punishment. And isn’t that strange just how long he was gone? Furthermore, he knows about STYXs operations and how the Shroud family/Idia runs it, information that not even Trein knew. Additionally, he knew STYX would be coming to attack the school, and surrendered without a question. Although his involvement in the book is little, I think he did a lot of set up and arrangements with STYX behind the scenes, which may have included accepting Idia to NRC in the first place. Book 6 is also the first time we hear about the theory that *someone else* is behind the Overblots.
Tumblr media
Book 7 gets even stranger with Lilia’s sudden loss of magic and dropping out. He says he can no longer cast a simple spell…but I don’t think it’s possible for a Fae to lose *all* their magic in such a short span of time naturally. Additionally, isn’t it strange that he wants to go to the Land of the Red Dragons when Levan’s title implies both a Chinese and dragon relation? Why now, after more than 500 years? We still don’t know, but it’s incredibly fishy. This, and we have the possibility of MC returning home.
Isn’t it funny that the two people Malleus loves the most are threatening to leave him at the same exact time? Malleus is an incredibly fragile boy on the inside- and for all this to happen at once with NO explanation? Of course he wouldn’t take it well. Crowley is also the one to let Lilia know that the carriage is coming to pick him up- but this is strange. Have we ever heard before of an NRC carriage raking someone outside of the ceremony days? Was the carriage going to transport Lilia all the way to the Land of the Red Dragons? Does it mean Crowley knows why Lilia’s going, or is he the reason why Lilia’s leaving in such a rush?!?
Tumblr media
Anyway. Again, Crowley is present at Malleus’s Overblot, something that’s only happened once before with Riddle. I’d like to point out that compared to Riddle, where he was quick to evacuate the students, he permitted the ATTACK against Malleus. Hm??? Did he know that there was no chance of escape?
I’d like to know what he’s dreaming about when Malleus cast the spell on him too… but I think everything I mentioned is incredibly suspicious. It’s a bit sad that Crowley’s main “attack” takes the form of isolation. Riddle is alone when the others call him out, Yuu and Grim are isolated in Scarabia, Malleus finds the people he loves are suddenly being taken away from him…
Maybe I’m just being angsty haha, but I wonder if Crowley weaponizes isolation because he knows first hand at just how harmful the loneliness is.

I noticed????? ??????? ?? ? ?? Bro's consistently sniffing out magic 😳
***Spoilers for Stage in Playful Land below the cut!!***
In book 1, he sniffed Yuu in the Botanical Garden and noted that they don't have any magic at all; then in 5-70, Leona notes that he detects faint traces of magic (post-OB battle and post-stadium fix); neither Ruggie nor Jack noticed it, ONLY Leona.
Now in Stage in Playful Land, Leona reveals that he doesn't smell magic on Gidel. So????? He has the ability to sense if someone has magic or not based on smell alone?? (The same seems to go for the environment; he can smell when magic has been cast.) Does that mean he can also gauge a mage's power level based on how strong the scent is?????? (He doesn't comment on Ferro's smell, though it has been indicated by other characters that Ferro has very little magic himself.) Leona seems to be the only one capable of doing this; I don't recall an instance of another beastman (that naturally have heightened senses of smell) doing something similar. Did Leona specifically train to gain this ability (maybe some kind of special royal privilege of the Kingscholar household)??? Did he train himself???? Or is it just a gift he was born with????

Hi Yuri! Have you ever considered the idea of there being an alternate version of the twst boys in Yuu’s world? Since we have no clue if it’s just another planet or an entirely separate universe, it’s theoretically possible. Poor Yuu would think they are going crazy seeing a familiar face or hearing a familiar voice in another world. Perhaps it is even painful to the point Yuu tries to avoid interacting with the boy in question. - 🦐
(Also, I am well aware of how often I’ve been sharing these thoughts. If they’re annoying you or you don’t feel up to it, I don’t want you to feel pressured to respond or anything. I’m just spitballing and posting before I forget. 👉👈)
OH BOY DO I HAVE SOME THOUGHTS ON THIS!!!!! (first and foremost being that you are very much not annoying <3)
An alt version of a twst boy in Yuu's world is just so yummy. There's so much angst potential depending on what the relationship is/was. Did their boy die in some horrible accident? Is he waiting for them, anxious and terrified about where Yuu went? Does this imply that twst also has a version of Yuu somewhere out there in the world? Questions questions. I did sort of write about this idea in the tags of this yan version of the soulbound au, wherein a cursed Yuu driven insane by their curse kills their soulmate before being isekaid to Twisted Wonderland and finding a different version of him, horrified with the realization that they could kill him again... but I want to cook up some dynamics for what the dorm leaders/overblot boys could be up to in Yuu's world first sooo...
I had a hard time thinking about Riddle until I remembered he's a horse girl and cast Yuu in the role of bad boy ranch hand whose dad's got a job at the barn so they're forced to help take care of the horses and warn all the would be YA protags about the "special horse" who doesn't take orders from just anyone. Not that Riddle is the protagonist... he's more the well established rich petty bitch who looks down on the new girls and especially on you because you're never taking care of his horse in accordance with all his stupid rules. And in stereotypical horse movie fashion Riddle has a massive not so secret crush on bad boy ranch hand Yuu who just doesn't get why he keeps trying to talk to them.
There isn't much royalty left in the world, but imagine Leona as the son of some rich business magnate whose older brother got the company and left him with "nothing." Maybe Yuu works at a liquor store part time and Leona comes in to pick stuff up every once in a while. You wouldn't call him a friend, but you guys shoot the shit enough that you have a general feel for each other to the point he joins you on your breaks to keep up the talk and play chess.
I love the idea of student president council Azul. He's made for that trope. Born for it, he'd be such a terror with Jade as his VP and Floyd as well. Floyd. I can't see him really being a part of the student council but I had this idea the other day based off this instagram post I saw about this mom who sews right? Her daughter was running for class president and she made these bracelets with little shrimp on them and attached them to cards that said "Keep it shrimple! Vote for (kid's name)!" And I was struck with this vision of Yuu doing that so like. Yuu running against Azul with that campaign slogan and he's tearing his hair out over it being so popular because people like memes (the original idea had Floyd running as Yuu's vp but they both dropped out at the last minute because neither him or Yuu wanted to do the actual work lol.) I also like student council president Azul and delinquent Yuu... but that's because of Tsuredure Children ha
Kalim and Jamil are hard... but I think the same set up of rich businessman's kid and his bodyguard in training still fits. How Yuu meets them is beyond me, but if you were friends with either of them could you imagine how painful seeing the same tragedy play out in this new world would be? Jamil doomed to always be a servant and Kalim doomed to be betrayed by his best friend... that would be so painful for someone who cared deeply about either of them I could see it motivating Yuu to try and resolve things for twst Jamil and Kalim that much harder.
Ok so hear me out... Vil still wants to be an actor in your world but he doesn't have the connections to his dad and is working as a pharm tech with Yuu at your local drugstore while going to school and hunting for gigs. He mentions being interested in cosmetics and magical pharmacology in game... and he also mentions knowing nothing about his mom so like. Your world Vil ended up with his mom instead of his dad and you get to see him on the cusp of his big break as one of his number one supporters from the very start, only to get isekaid to a world where you get to see what things could have looked like. It's strange how similar and yet not both versions of Vil are...
Idia is the guy who comes in to buy snacks at your convenience store during the night shift who you start talking to when you notice him buying a game time card for something you also play. You're stupid awkward around each other at first, but it's nice to finally have someone to talk about your niche interest with once you've passed each other's sniff tests. You don't actually know him know him though... so getting sent to another world where there's another version of him makes you worried the more you learn about his backstory that maybe you should have been there for your Idia more. Is he doing ok back home? Did he think of you as a friend? You hope he isn't blaming himself for any of this...
Malleus is an old money trust fund baby whose family was absolutely royalty at some point and is still overly attached to it. He likes old buildings, cemeteries, long walks in the fog, you know all those good goth things. He's tall and socially awkward and so grateful for you, his first and best friend who he met one moonlight night he swore was a dream in his favorite abandoned building who spoke at length with him about all sorts of things he liked. So you know. More or less the same. Just without the world ending powers... I think this is another one that would be quite sad. Which version of Malleus needs Yuu more? Which one is the real one? I'd hate the idea of him being destined to always be lonely and lose the ones he loves.
As for Yuu avoiding them... I could see that. It would feel weird seeing someone you love so much only for it not to be them at all. I know that the Lovebrush Chronicles kiiiiind of deals with this??? I wish I had the patience to play through it has an appealing glasses wearing ro but it's a mobile otome :/ but still. It's a concept I promise I am totally normal about.

Hello!
Bit of a dumb question
I wanted to know if it was ever mentioned anywhere that Jade ate his siblings.. My sister keeps saying he said that he ate everyone but kept Floyd bc he looked like he'd be funny or something. I've never seen this mentioned before and I wanna prove her wrong
Hello hello!! ^^ Thank you for this question!
“Jade ate his siblings” is one of many unproven fan theories, based on a number of comments in the game that might be hints about something that may or may not have happened!

The theory goes that Jade and Floyd hatched from eggs (moray eels can lay up to 10,000 eggs at once in real life, though in-game is unspecified) at approximately the same time.
Jade then selected Floyd as the one sibling he would spare, and ate the rest. (The reason why he chose Floyd is technically not specified.)
Tumblr media
This is based on many things that can be found throughout the game, such as this cryptic comment from Jade: “I’m glad I chose you as my partner when we were but little elvers.”
Tumblr media
Floyd responds, “Not sure what that smile’s for, but I’m glad we survived together, too,” which may insinuate that if something did happen, Floyd might not know what it was.
Tumblr media
Jade also says, “there are five in my family at present.” One interpretation of this line is that their family used to be larger, and might get even smaller in the future, but five is where they are at now.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The more optimistic side of EN fandom will sometimes theorize that maybe their mother is pregnant and there will actually be a new addition to the family soon rather than a loss, but we have been given a surprising amount of information about how common it is for people to go missing in the Coral Sea, with otherwise zero hints that they will soon be getting between 1 and 10,000 new siblings.
Tumblr media
The evidence used for the “hatched from eggs” part of the theory comes from Floyd insisting that neither he nor Jade are any older or younger than the other.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This might seem vague in English, where which twin of two was technically born first might not come up very often, but in Japanese one twin being born first would mean that one of them would refer to the other as something like “nii-san,” like Ortho does with Idia, or "aniki," as Ace does with his brother and Leona does with Falena.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(For a real-world example I recommend referring to the Twitter account of Jamil’s voice actor, Futaba Kaname. He has (弟) in his username for “little brother,” while his identical twin Yuu has (兄) in his username for “older brother.”)
Tumblr media
But neither Jade nor Floyd refer to one another as “nii-san," "aniki" or anything but their first names.
While “bro” or “brother” will sometimes be added to their dialogue on EN neither twin has ever actually called the other “brother” in their original dialogue, because the Japanese language makes you specify older or younger (an age-neutral word for “brother” doesn’t really exist) and, as Floyd says outright in the game, neither he nor Jade are any older or younger than the other.
This makes sense if they both hatched from eggs at approximately the same time, rather than being born like mammals.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another point that is often referenced in the “Jade and Floyd: Dead Siblings” topic is how, on the subject of ghosts they have seen, both twins mention seeing people on Halloween that looked strikingly like each other, only to realize that they weren’t.
Floyd: “I once thought I saw Jade in three different places at once.”
The theory goes that they saw the ghosts of their dead siblings.
This may or may not be considered evidence of how the twins might have had other siblings at one point and something happened to them, but even if so, it could have just been a Finding-Nemo style incident with a barracuda or something similar.
So why do people point to Jade as the perpetrator?
Tumblr media
(Maybe irrelevant, but Rook’s nickname for Jade in the original game is, “Monsieur Premeditated Crime.”)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jade is a heavy eater, on par with Sebek (another thing they have in common is they have both threatened to eat Grim), saying that people are often surprised by how much he eats.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jade says this is because his “fuel efficiency is lacking” (low blood pressure?).
Floyd is aware of this and seems to go to extra lengths to make sure Jade eats properly, encouraging him to relax and fetching food for him during Halloween.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The original meaning of Jade’s unique magic is, “the tooth that takes out a bite,” so this is definitely a theme with him.
And his official, disliked food? Eel.
Tumblr media
To the original question: no, there is not a definitive line in the game that states “Jade ate his siblings” that we can point to as proof that it actually, canonically happened.
But we do have many cryptic lines that might possibly be insinuating that a infamously hungry Jade chose Floyd as the one sibling he would spare and ate the rest, Floyd may not know it happened, and Jade might be actively choosing not to tell him 🐬

Can I please ask for a malleus and Floyd and riddle with kianna komori
But how are they react to walking in on her having a mental breakdown
Tumblr media
By the way I did some adjustments to her character so I would appreciate it if you read it I hope any info that's on my page will be useful to you
When Their S/O Has A Mental Breakdown
Type of Writing: Request Name: When Their S/O Has a Mental Breakdown Characters: Malleus Draconia, Floyd Leech, and Riddle Rosehearts Requester: @nunezs-stuff
A/N: I've been asked who this 'Kianna' is, if you want to gain more info on her, go to the requester's account. There you can read many bits of information on this OC. But, for now, the reason behind the mental breakdown in ambiguous. By the way, the reader is in the character's year and is a separate person from Yuu.

🐉 He never tried prying into your past, he and you had established that when you first met; neither of you would pry into each other's history
🐉 Malleus never had an issue with this agreement until today
🐉 While waiting for you so you guys could walk to class today, and when you never showed a sign of showing up, he had gone to your dorm-head, Vil Schoenheit
🐉 Vil only shrugged his shoulders and said that he and Rook had been trying to coax you out of your room for hours, only to be given the cold shoulder, or in other words, no answer
🐉 This only worried your boyfriend farther, and he had decided to try getting an answer out of you when he tried knocking on the door
" Dearest, are you alright in there? "
🐉 Malleus only gained silence pouring through his ears, alarming him. You had always answered him when he arrived at your door
🐉 Looking back at the Housewarden and Vice-Housewarden of Pomefiore, they could see how much confusion and fear was filling the Prince's eyes, sending alarms through their bodies
" Roi des Dragons, maybe they just need some time to their-self. They did seem tired last night. " " Rook is right. Y/N had come to dinner fairly pale and they were nearly asleep at the table, but it seemed something was keeping their eyes pried open. In the past three years of being alongside them, I have never seen them so tired and scared before... it was fairly alarming... "
🐉 Malleus sighed and waved for the two to leave the area, knowing the must have some kind of work to attend too. And once they left his ear-shot, he gritted his teeth and balled his hands into fists
🐉 He could feel his nails digging into his palm, causing small crescents of red to build underneath, but that was not what was hurting him at the moment; you ignoring him hurt far more
" Y/N, I am coming inside. "
🐉 Opening the door, Malleus was caught off guard to see you sitting on the ground wrapped in a blanket, swaying back and forth while staring at a photograph that laid on the ground
🐉 Your boyfriend looked at the photo and back at you, making the connection quite fast. These must be people who had hurt you in the past... how dare they...
🐉 Hearing your shaky breaths, he focused his attention back to you, you were his main priority at the moment, not those balls of scum
" My love, I am right here. Don't worry. Are you alright? "
🐉 Once his arms made their way around you, you had dug yourself into his body, tears meeting his neck as your burrowed your face into the softer flesh
" Malleus- I- oh Great Seven... "
🐉 He shushed you as you wept. He may not be super good at this, but he did help raise Silver with Lilia, he understands how to comfort someone to a decent level
🐉 While he does want to know what those people had done, for now he can leave it behind in favor of comforting you

🎭 Floyd is not the best when it comes to handling other people's emotions, and both of you understood that. He is aware of his mood swings to an extent, and you weren't very expressive most of the time, so it was a decent turnout
🎭 Your boyfriend and you landed on a middle-ground of sorts, you wouldn't pry into his emotions if he didn't pry in on yours
🎭 And for quite a while, you guys stayed on that piece of land very strongly, though, everything is bound to have a pitfall of sorts. Whether the fallen come back up and continue their path is unknown
🎭 And this was quite the pitfall
🎭 Floyd and you were just messing around together on the grounds, screwing with other people's minds by using his creepy smile and your stone-cold glare, but, when you didn't come back from your 'bathroom break', he got worried
🎭 Walking throughout the school, every student in his way stood off to the side, as they didn't want to be beaten by an angry eel
🎭 As he walked around, he called your name over and over. And, unlike many, you had no nickname related to sea-creatures, he had respect for you as his S/O, so no nickname was used after he and you sealed the deal
🎭 Now, back to the point;
🎭 Once Floyd came upon his brother and childhood friend, he had asked them where you were, only to be met by their fingers pointing to the door in front of them; your room
" Y/N-dear, please let us in... we just want to know what is the matter. " " P-please go, Azul. " " Y/N! Please let me in! Come on, it's Floydie, your eel boyfriend! Come on! "
🎭 Azul and Jade looked at one another and nodded before leaving you and Floyd alone, they knew you needed space, but they weren't gonna try angering Floyd in the progress
🎭 As time passed, Floyd gained impatient, why were you not opening the door for him?!
🎭 Eventually, your boyfriend announced he was coming in whether you liked it or not, and he began to break through the lock (willing to bet he knows some skill like that)
🎭 Once his mismatched eyes landed on your shaking form, Floyd's mood dampened. He then walked up to you and hugged you, he understood that you were having a mental breakdown, Azul had quite a few of these growing up
" Y/N... Honey... Hey, hey, I'm right here with ya', take some long breaths okay? Here, I'll do them with you! Breath in- breath out, yeah- just like that! "
🎭 Floyd continued to hold you after you calmed down, wondering what could have set you off like that. Whatever or whoever did better look out, they now have a psychotic mer-eel after them, and he doesn't give up easily

❤️ Did someone ask for the mental-breakdown expert?
❤️ Riddle and you, much like in the previous sets, have boundaries. He is very private when it comes to his home-life, with the rare few knowing about his mother
❤️ And while you and him have spoken about both your pasts once or twice, he finds himself drawing a blank when discussing himself and you, it just feels weird sharing his emotions with another being that wasn't someone he's known ever since childhood
❤️ Though, that doesn't make your relationship rocky, just somewhat rough around the edges, like Leona!
❤️ Ever since the fourth attempt to talk about your home-lives, Riddle had been busy with Housewarden duties, from getting the rose fully painted to having Un-Birthday Parties to celebrate, his schedule has been jammed-packed
❤️ But, once he reached some free-time, he had immediately messaged you, asking if you yourself was free, as he knew how ruthless Vil could be with his 'schedules' himself
❤️ As he waited seconds, minutes, and eventually a half-hour, Riddle began to wonder why you hadn't answered. He knew for a fact that Vil wouldn't have such a good member of his dorm like you busy for that long
❤️ So, after asking Cater and Trey to watch the dorm like hawks as he took care of an errand, he set his sights on the Mirror Chamber, and eventually Pomefiore's mirror
❤️ Walking through the halls, he found Vil and asked where you had been, only to receive the answer that you had requested to go to bed early, much to your superior's confusion
❤️ Riddle thanked his upper-classman before he left and went to your room. And once he reached the door, he sighed and straightened his clothing, one must not have such a messy outfit
" My Rose, are you alright in there? Vil said that you had gone to bed early, is that true? "
❤️ Hearing no reply, Riddle gained more nervousness than before
" Ah, Roi des Roses! Are you having a hard time getting into your dearest's room? Here, a key! Have a nice chat! "
❤️ Looking down at the key that Rook left in his gloved hand, Riddle groaned, that hunter really knew how to scare someone at their most oblivious, huh?
❤️ Unlocking the door and announcing his entrance, Riddle walked inside, pocketing the small apple-shaped key as he looked around for you, only to see a small form curled into a rose-pattered blanket
" Rose...? Oh sweet mercy... are you alright, dearest? " " Riddle- I- ... oh lord... "
❤️ He flinched slightly as you clung to his jacket, tears cascading out of your eyes as you cried, holding one of the few people you cared for tightly, your grip tightening with every second
❤️ Hushing you and helping you take deep breaths, Riddle pulled out his phone and messaged his Vice-Housewarden, claiming he would not be returning for the night, saying that you needed someone with you at the moment
❤️ Powering off the device and setting it aside, your boyfriend hugged you just as tight, he knew if he was in your situation he would want to be aware that he was cared for... and by the Queen of Hearts, if he could, he would take this pain away
❤️ But, for now, he's content with holding you to his chest as you slept off this pain... if you woke happily in his arms, it would all be worth it

Funfacts about PTM Characters!
Still chilling out from finishing my thesis, but I had a few fun facts about the side characters for PTM that I'd thought you'd all enjoy in the meantime! It's gonna include some of the canon characters as well as the ocs!
This includes some very minor, but not story defining, spoilers for PTM so proceed with caution! As a reminder, PTM takes place a school year after the current timeline!
Canon Characters:
Jade and Floyd made bets on who would get together with their crush first during their 3rd year. The loser has to let the winner(s) plan and execute the most humiliating way to confess. Neither twin is winning. Azul is currently winning with his bet of “neither of you will, you cowards.”
Ortho went to most of Idia's classes during his time at NRC, so he was allowed to “skip” repeating those years when becoming an official student by taking a competency exam. However, he is still staying for a year since the test only allows for core classes and not his electives. He's happy to do so, though.
Idia stayed at NRC to complete his internship with the school, much to his disappointment. He works as a Technomage Intern with the college's technology department.
The overblot cast got closer with each other and Yuu than expected over the summer due to Crowley and S.T.Y.X. requiring them to take part in a “summer camp” to monitor them and their health. Leona still hates Malleus though. Malleus is still mostly unaware of this.
Malleus still does not know how to use technology. Sebek and Yuu have a weekly call with him via a looking glass mirror that acts like a video call. Malleus enjoys it very much.
Kalim switched places with Jamil and is now vice housewarden, while Jamil is now housewarden. Neither's families were happy about this, but were shut down by Kalim being surprisingly firm about his decision. To everyone's surprise, Kalim does very well as a vice over a housewarden, though Scarabia has had significantly fewer parties since the switch.
Nearly all the clubs that had the 3rd years as captains/heads had one of the 2nd years take over into their 3rd year. Ruggie is now Spelldrive Captain, Azul is head of the Board Game Club, and the Gargoyle Studies Club is headed by Yuu. The Pop Music Club is also more formalized now, with Kalim as the head. The Science Club and Film Studies have an NPC 3rd year as heads.
Yuu isn't actually that bad at singing as everyone has (and will continue to do so) suggested. Most of the student body had classical training growing up as part of their privileged upbringing, and Yuu has to compete with that.
At least two pairs of canon characters will get together at the end! Guess who tehe.
OC:
Silas likes to eat bugs and regularly digs in the dirt behind Ramshackle to find something crunchy to munch. They did it once in front of Jamil and the poor guy screamed in horror.
Yev became the new Pomefiore housewarden due to being able to produce the best posion, as per tradition. However, he's actually quite bad at being a housewarden and his vice is the one that everyone tends to listen to.
The Salson triplets are from the TWST equivalent of Salem, and have a North easterner accent, similar to Boston I think. Wynfred and Marion mimic English, or Rosarian, accents, but Silas does not.
There are two more mermen in the school, minus the canon cast and two ocs. They aren't important to the story, but their names are Mariano De La Reyes and Benji (last name still pending). They're based off of Marina and Benjamin from the third Little Mermaid movie.
Speaking of mermen, Aspen is a squidmer and is based on the colossal squid. He's about 18 ft long and still growing. Tony is based on a tiger shark, but is the runt of his litter, hence why he's so small.
Tommy, the white rabbit beastmen that was introduced as Riddle's new vice, is notorious for always running late. He never has actually been late to anything due to parkouring everywhere and climbing the castle walls to enter the classrooms through the windows. Floyd learned how to parkour from him. Riddle hates everything about this.
Briefly mentioned in the last chapter was the botany professor, Kallpa. Kallpa is based on Kronk and the uncle of Yev.
Nurse Goethel has a wife and two daughters that she brings with her to family days on campus. The daughters are roughly age 11 and 13 and each time they've come have designated a student as the new person they want to marry. Two years ago it was Leona and Trey, last year it was Azul and Jamil, this year it's Jack and Ortho. There is no reasoning behind their decision, it's all based on vibes.
James has met Jade and Floyd when they were all very young. James was on his Great Aunt's ship, who was meeting with Papa Leech for unknown reasons. James only remembers them due to their heterochromia eyes, but the twins don't remember anything.
Marion has a really strong sense of smell that is on par with the beastmen. He hates Pomefiore because the dorm and students are heavily perfumed and it gives him a migraine.
Yaqub actually has a twin brother that goes to RSA. He thinks it's funny that it turned out that way and they like to shittalk their schools together on the weekends. RSA is much more chaotic and full of troublemakers than NRC realizes.
At least two pairs of the freshmen will get together at the end of PTM, but it will be a surprise as to who!
And that's all! I have more but I think I'll save them for another time!

Note
Alrighty then thanks!! Could you maybe write yandere Riddle x reader where the reader is extremely affectionate and touchy? They basically cling alot or give random hugs/headpats/head or cheek kisses.
Featuring: Gender-neutral reader, Yandere Riddle Rosehearts, affectionate reader, Self-Aware Twisted Wonderland
Includes: Mommy issues, obsessiveness, possessive thoughts, self-degreading thoughts
When you first 'landed' in Twisted wonderland, Riddle didn't know what to expect. Of course, he knew you would be kind (you had to be, to use your precious time on people like him) but there was little else to know. Yuu was always so secretive when it came to you. For Seven's sake, he didn't even know your name.
He didn't know what to expect, and yet, it did little to keep his imagination from running. That's the thing about mystery, you know. You add your own spin to it, even when you know it's in vain. Riddle imagines that you are refined, the kind of person who drinks mid-afternoon tea with the sort of elegance you only see in those who have engaged in rigorous etiquette training ever since their youth, except yours would not be learned, it would be something you were born with. You would not follow the law, because you would be the law.
You would have a sort of accent, too, he thinks. A subtle, classy accent that showcases your otherworldliness. Surely you would not speak in the same dilect that they do in Twisted Wonderland. This line of thought poses a rather distressing question, however.
Do you even speak the same language as the rest of them? What if you don't?
Riddle reckons that since Yuu speaks the language, you must also be fluent. Of course you would be, you must be an intelligent person, capable of speaking multiple languages with ease. The anxiety is not quite laid to rest, however, it merely dims, sitting in the back of his mind in patient wait.
There is another, far more pressing issue at hand, after all.
What if you're not what he expects? Would you be offended, knowing that someone as unworthy as him was forcing his own ideals on someone as elevated as you?
It was silly of him to worry. In reality, you are kind and forgiving. Far kinder to him than he deserves.
You are affectionate. You gave him the kind of affection he never received as a child. It healed something within him that he never knew was broken. It took quite a while to get used to, his face was painted as red as roses without rest for two straight weeks. He didn't mind, though. Of course not. How could he mind? The blush was because of you, and he wore it with pride. It was a gift, a sign of your eternal affection.
But he was not the only one who had received it.
Of course not, your graciousness was overflowing. It spilled out of your in waves. It stands to reason that he is not the only sponge lying in wait, eager to soak up even the tiniest drop of your attention.
Those rats…They didn't deserve you. But, then again…neither did he.
Riddle would be lying if he said the thought of spiriting you away didn't cross his mind once or twice (or four or eight times…), but how could he ever go through with it? Not only does it go against the Queen's laws, but it's also an insult to your own autonomy.
You choose to give pieces of yourself, to grace others, even when they are undeserving. That is your choice, and he will do his utmost to respect it. Even if he doesn't understand. Even if it hurts him. No matter what, he will not infringe upon your freedom, nor doubt your choices.
He will continue to hold his tongue until the day comes when you look at him—him and only him. When he becomes worthy of your generosity, he will ensure that is the sole outlet for your boundless warmth. No matter the cost.
If it means staying by your side, he will burn every bridge if he has to. Break every law.
Because it's you.

october writing prompt #30 - "sit with me?”
-
character: malleus draconia, twst
contains: fluff, gn reader, reader is yuu
“Won’t you sit with me?”
Inviting Malleus to join you in meaningless little nothing tasks came as naturally as it did breathing, with how often you two found each other simply roaming around campus. Even more so with his habit of awkwardly standing to the side unless invited directly - you had often compared him to a vampire in that way.
“Of course, my dear child of man.”
He accepts, because where else in the world would he rather be, than with you?
Even when you were simply sitting underneath a tree in front of Ramshackle, simply staring up at the clouds lazily drifting by, he could imagine no sweeter pastime. Anything was better with you - even more so when you had granted him an invitation like he so yearned for. You appreciated his presence as much as he did yours, and there was nothing in the world that compared to the feeling that filled his heart at the thought alone.
The minutes crawl by as lazily as the clouds above, the atmosphere between you equal parts fragile and blissful as Malleus settled in beside you, slowly finding yourselves wrapped around each other as you appreciate the afternoon air.
No words are spoken by pure virtue of them not being needed for the two of you to enjoy the time you spend together. It’s rare to find moments of peace such as this, and neither of you would trade them for the world. In a place such as Night Raven College, quiet times spent enjoying the moment with the ones that you loved were few and far between. You were glad that Malleus was of the same opinion as you, that these times were made to be cherished.
Of course, the silence can’t last.
Grim comes running down towards you, the Ramshackle ghosts chasing after him cheerily, and you can’t help but laugh at the sight. Malleus raises an amused eyebrow and gives you space to get up, and in turn, you offer your hand to help him off the ground.
He looks breathless at the sight, a slight flush upon the tops of his cheekbones. An appearance you know well, from him.
Before he can profess his undying love for you for the sixteenth time, you pull him forwards with a grin, before promptly letting him go and running after Grim with a wild laugh. It takes a moment for him to gain composure and join you, but he does, and the two of you take off through the weeds and wildflowers of the lawn with reckless abandon.
These moments weren’t half-bad either.

Malleus and his Divorce (Malleus)
Honestly, just some silly to cheer up this sick girl. I don't even know how to write a summary for this one. Literally just blurting out the first words that come to mind.
NOTE: I only write for female reader but everyone is welcome to read it!
— ( ´◡‿ゝ◡`)
"Malleus, I want a divorce."
The feather pen almost drops from Malleus' hand.
He looks up from the paper he's been trying to read for the past ten minutes, not sure if the sudden dizziness comes from being snapped out of his thoughts of Yuu, or from hearing such outlandish words come from his wife's lips. He blinks a few times, questions stuck in his throat, while (Y/N) waits patiently for him to gather his wits, sipping her tea as if she just asked about the weather. Once he does, only one word leaves him.
“Why?”
“Because you are in love, and I have no interest in becoming your romance's villain.”
“... What?”
(Y/N) gives him a small, smug and playful smile, one very few have the privilege to see. (Y/N) Draconia, the Crown Princess of Briar Valley by marriage, is known for being the pinnacle of what Briar Valley nobility should be: A solemn, noble lady that remains calm and composed no matter the situation, like a beautiful and eternal statue. So very few people have ever seen her break the behavior and be playful or angry, with her husband of centuries being one of them.
That doesn't mean he's any good at reading her, though, as proven by the confusion that floods his mind right now.
“I was told by Lord Vanrouge and your attendants of the human you cherish, the human named Yuu.”
“Yuu is just a friend.”
“I am not accusing you of anything, Your Highness,” the sudden sharpness in her voice and the formal addressing makes him wince. “I am noting a fact. You are in love with that human, and I wish you were free to pursue them. After all… your time together is fleeting.”
Malleus feels like a searing needle just stabbed his heart. Right, who could ever forget the tragic romance between her father and his human lover? Who could forget Count (L/N)'s fall from grace as he cheated on his wife with a human that stole his heart? The Countess who then divorced him after finding out—the tale of their explosive fight is still brought up over tea—, only for him to come back one year later with a half-fae, half-human baby in arms, lover gone thanks to illness. (Y/N) had long forgiven her father, and her brother is a beloved young man, but that deeply ingrained in her two things: the terrible fear of being betrayed and sympathy for doomed romances between lovers with different lifespans.
And now Malleus is practically walking the same path as her father.
“I…” he's not sure what to say. That he is sorry for loving another? That he's sorry it is a human? Neither sounds good.
He might not love (Y/N) romantically, but he holds a considerable amount of affection for her, who grew up with him and went through thick and thin by his side, who accepted his selfish request and became the Crown Princess because he couldn't accept the idea of marrying some random noble. To say something like that, to put her through this heartbreak, it hurts tremendously.
“Can… Can this wait?”
“I have all the time in the world, Malleus, so don't think of me,” she warns, placing the cup down on the table and getting up. “Please give me an answer before you regret it.”
She offers him a last smile before leaving him alone in his office.
The rest of his winter break is spent in contemplation. Malleus doesn't tell anyone of her request, other than his mentor and his aides. Lilia's expression takes that melancholic hue; being the one who helped officiate the Countess' divorce and the best man of Malleus' wedding, it's understandable he's not happy with the situation. Silver looks conflicted, his loyalty to Malleus keeps him quiet, but his years of friendship with (Y/N), who never once treated him as nothing but an equal, make his unhappiness clear. And Sebek—Sebek for once is quiet, not one word comes from him as he thinks things through; he's yet another who (Y/N) had befriended to the point of openness, and he holds a special respect for her that goes beyond her married status.
Talking of her, (Y/N) acts like nothing happened, except she starts to distance herself more and more. Before, they'd sit almost glued together, but slowly she began sitting farther and farther away, and now they sit on opposing seats. Before, they'd walk arm in arm, her head many times finding his shoulder and his finding hers, but now there's enough space between them to fit about two of her maids. Before, she'd go spend time with him in his office while he did paperwork with a soft smile and a quip, but now he seldom sees her outside meals.
The bed feels incredibly empty once she gets her own room.
Malleus knew of the word “miserable” before, but now he knows it intimately, like a host knows a parasite eating away their life.
(Y/N) is not there to see them off when they return to Night Raven College after winter break. Despite Malleus being the one facing a possible divorce, all four of them look like they ate an entire lime, even Lilia who usually keeps his boyish smile.
The first night he visits Yuu in Ramshackle is cold and sharp like the blade of a sword.
Even the Prefect notices his gloom, placing that gentle hand of theirs on his arm and asking what's wrong with their soft voice. Before, it had felt exhilarating; someone who's not afraid of him, and a human at that! Someone who treats him like just another man, finally!
But he has always had that, didn't he?
“I have a wife,” he blurts out, not knowing how to start but not wanting to go all the way back to the very beginning.
He prepares himself for the reaction, not even knowing what exactly he's expecting, but all they do is laugh kindly and look at him with amused eyes.
“I know, you talk about her all the time.”
“I… do…?”
“Did you not notice?” they furrow their brows. “Almost every time you talk about your life in Briar Valley, you find a way to talk about your wife. It's pretty cute, actually. You're so loving despite the usually regal and distant air you have.”
“She wants a divorce.”
“What?”
Hard to tell whose eyes are wider as they look at each other. Yuu's face goes through a few changes, but the confusion remains the same, and if Malleus were a bit more expressive, he'd probably be mimicking them. A few seconds of that pass before the fae swallows the lump in his throat and tell his friend the conversation he had with his wife.
“So she's divorcing you… because you have feelings for me?"
“... Yes. Apologies that this is how you learn of said feelings, by the way.”
“No, no, it's fine, I'm just… me? You like me?” Malleus nods and Yuu frowns even harder. “But you're agonizing over losing your wife.”
And Yuu, brilliant, simple and lovely Yuu, brings clarity to his mind in one phrase. He says he's interested in Yuu, but his heart hurts at the idea of losing his wife. And when he thinks back at all the fleeting times he thought to himself he had an interest in Yuu, he sees they all happened whenever Yuu treated him as his wife does: as a friend, a companion, someone special not for his pedigree or his abilities, but for the relationship they share, the person he is.
“... I think I like what you share with my wife.”
“No Sense Thursday, huh? Ok, I can do that.”
“No, it does make sense, Child of Man. I miss my wife terribly and you treat me like her.”
“... Ok, now I'm offended, I'm not a replacement for your wife.”
“Of course, I'm not going to divorce my wife for you.”
Yuu blinks and it hits Malleus that he was terribly rude just now, but before he can apologize and correct himself, Yuu throws their head back and laughs. Laughs, laughs and laughs, until tears threaten to fall. The fae isn't sure what they're laughing about, but he's glad at least one of them is having a good time.
“Right, right, no divorces for you, mister.” Yuu sniffles, fanning their face with their hands, small giggles still bursting every now and then. “So, what are you gonna do about it?"
“I'll go talk to her!”
“Go get'em, tiger!”
Malleus pays no attention to the odd encouragement, probably another of those odd human sayings, storming away from Ramshackle. Convincing Crowley is easy, it's not everyday that the Briar Valley Crown Prince barges into his office in the middle of the night and demands he opens the portal. Malleus could just use his own magic to go there, but with Headmage Crowley as a witness and the Dark Mirror as a medium, any sort of bureaucracy trouble that otherwise could be born is annulled. Lilia will take care of it.
He finds her in her room, sitting by the window in her sleeping robes. Fae are naturally considered ethereal, but (Y/N) was made to represent the word.
And she is his wife.
And he almost lost her.
“My wife.”
“Malleus!”
Before she can ask him what he's doing in her room in the middle of the night, Malleus lunges at her, not caring about the closed window they bump on with the impact, or her startled shriek. No, all he cares about is pressing their lips together in a passionate kiss, a passionate kiss that he trills when he feels it being answered in the same intensity. Dragon fae vocalization is not something he indulges much, specially not when mingling with humans, but if there's ever a night for him to throw away everything but his truest, then it is tonight.
The kiss only ends when he feels his lungs burn, and he can tell she's the same by the greedy breaths she takes. He can tell she’s about to question him and following his unusual impulsiveness, he kisses her again before she can utter a word. The second kiss is shorter, but still just as passionate, and he trills again when he sees a rosy blush rise to her cheeks.
“You’re wrong, and so was I,” he blurts out—he’s been breaking all records tonight, huh?—, brushing a strand of her hair away from her face. “I do not love Yuu, I was taken by them because they reminded me of you.”
“... that’s so rude! You shouldn’t see them as a replacement for me!”
Malleus can’t help but laugh out loud, hugging her to his chest and telling her between his laughter that Yuu said the exact same thing. He’s not the only one acting uncharacteristically, for (Y/N) manages to show him a pout he hasn’t seen since they were much, much younger. A pout he kisses away.
“Come to school with me.”
“Malleus, there are so many reasons why I can’t–”
“I can change them, all of them.”
“What if one of them is my will?”
“... I can change that too, if you allow me, wife.”
She shivers in his embrace and he grins. To think he came so close to losing this forever. He’s determined to make up for that terrible slip up, by any means necessary. By all means necessary. Their honeymoon did happen quite a long time ago, it’d be a shame to miss a chance to relive it.
With luck, Lilia will actually knock on the door when he comes to fetch Malleus the next day.

How about the octotrio with a gn!reader who has an hyperfixation on sea creatures?
Feel free to ignore
❤️❤️
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Octotrio w/ sea creature-hyperfixated Reader
gender neutral!reader, fluff, can be viewed as platonic or romantic, reader is implied to be yuu (it's kind of outright stated in floyd's-)
aaaa my first request!! tysm i hope you like it!!!
Tumblr media
Azul Ashengrotto
~ i feel as though he'd be a little... unnerved at your hyperfixation and thus vast knowledge on the sea and its inhabitants at first
~ to him, it feels odd to know that a human is so knowledgeable about a place so limited to their eyes
~ he's also quite jealous
~ you know all of this regarding his home and he could barely understand half of what happens outside of the water for the longest time, he says he doesn't pout but he absolutely thinks back on it later and finds his lip sticking out
~ he's still learning what a small percentage of the animals on land are after spending two years here and you know borderline everything about sea creatures without having actually visited the sea! hmph! not fair, he tells you!
~ he gets used to it pretty easily, and even finds himself able to relax by talking to you about things under the sea (🎶🎶)
~ it's nice to be able to talk to someone he feels comfortable with and knows will understand, aside from the tweels of course
~ he'd definitely be a little flustered if he found out you had a specific favoritism towards octopi
~ "that's me!! i'm one of those!!!" he's proud, let him have this
~ he's probably one of the best to info dump to because he's least likely to get up and walk away because he's bored like the tweels would
Jade Leech
~ he's only interested because he's glad there's finally someone around that understands hyperfixating like he does
~ jade absolutely hyperfixates on mushrooms and so there's a mutual understanding between you two
~ he's not as excitable and in your face about his hyperfixation but it's certainly there
~ you both tend to info dump on the other because neither of you really mind and you understand
~ you both go out of your way to indulge in the other's fixation
~ jade won't admit it aloud but he loves when you go on hikes with him and help him search for mushrooms or knowledge of them
~ in return, he goes out of his way to try and show you various sea dwellers, such as taking you to beaches or storing them in octavinelle for your visits
~ of course, nothing that would outright kill you if it was near you but... some have gotten pretty close
~ hyperfixation solidarity
Floyd Leech
~ i can't see him caring much at first tbh
~ he probably wouldn't even remember, he'd hear it, and then it's already gone from his mind moments later
~ but having a fixation on sea creatures probably helps you remember who his nicknames are for because you can actually recognize the traits he's lined up with people
~ that catches his attention because, really, the only one who can keep up with his nicknames is jade
~ he had an entire moment when he found out where he just got all giggly and started listing off his nicknames for people and you would answer with the person he was referring to
~ you become a lot more interesting to him after that, now whenever you bring up your surplus of knowledge, he doesn't quite pay attention to it but he does acknowledge it
~ you have full reign to make a joke about how you should start cleaning his teeth since he calls you shrimpy
~ he will take it as an invitation and jade will get involved and you will now be tasked with brushing the teeth of two eels

as i'm re-reading 'men are so quick to blame gods' (for like the 3rd time it's so good) what hit me is - how is yuuji going to deal with the mc almost dying? i mean, yes sukuna being so moved by love that he's able to push him down and be by her side is both sweet and heartbreaking but that's also yuujis gf who he loves and he's just what, unconscious? and the last thing he's seen is her, looking dead in a pool of blood...
(((again, i love the story, can't wait for updates<3333)))
hey there nonnie!! thank you for your love of the series!<3 i really appreciate you taking the time to consider this aspect of the story!!
sooo obviously in the warehouse, sukuna forcibly took control of his vessel, but i left it a bit more ambiguous as to how/why he was in control when gojo came by to visit.
this is how i would conceptualize the aftermath between he and yuu—
sukuna and yuuji haven't discussed what happened at the warehouse, even if it was the first time sukuna had ever assumed control of his vessel's body by force.
sukuna doesn't try to do so again. for now, he's too preoccupied with your condition.
but that doesn't mean the occurrence hasn't nestled itself somewhere deep in the recesses of his mind. was it a one time thing, driven by his desperation to save you? or did it open a door and give him the freedom to do so as he pleases? and if that is the case, what would that mean for him?
yuuji, on the other hand, is too busy with the guilt riddling his every thought. he can't get the image of your near lifeless body out of his head. he can't get over the way he just stood there frozen and staring.
he's forced to grapple with his morality, a notion that he's always held in high regard. he knew those sorcerers. he'd even gone on missions with some of them.
and now they're all dead, save for one. would he have been able to bring himself to kill them eventually, or would his feet have stayed planted on the concrete while the last bit of life you were clinging onto slipped away?
would it have been wrong of him to value your life over their's? sorcerers do nasty work for the general good, and he's already seen enough of his comrades die as it is... can he really say that killing them all was the best option?
so he's in agony— caught between his usual selflessness and his desire to be a good lover to you.
perhaps you deserve someone willing to throw morality out the window if it means you'll live to see another sunrise.
and so he and sukuna wordlessly alternate between who is in control, seeming to have an understanding on some level neither of them fully comprehend.
yuuji sits at your bedside, your hand in his and his mind in disarray. sukuna does the same, performing rct in timely intervals and praying to the gods he doesn't particularly believe in.

Jellyfish Mer Yuu-Heartslabyul
Riddle
he likes to use you as a threat against the rule breakers but he always loses his cool when he has to interact with you
and it has less to do about you as person and more how you are to similar to a jellyfish sometimes and with that he means very air headed
he doesn´t have anything against someone that isn´t academically gifted as long as they do their best and are willing to accept help when offered
but and he means this literally he doesn´t even know if you have a brain in your head, he isn´t saying your an idiot but not only did you have a hard time even learning how Humans are supposed to act you also have a lot of troubles learning in and outside of school
though this only applies to text book learning you do incredibly well when you have a physically aspect to learning
he even went out of his way to make entertaining puzzles put of some of your history work when you asked him for help
but he expects a good grade from you, even if you aren´t a Heartslabyul student it will be Off with your Head if you fail
Trey
you never stung him and have nothing against him but Trey is still incredibly cautious of you and your stingers
he knows you gave a bunch of students some serious burns because you forgot about them, doesn´t help that they are translucent and incredibly hard to spot even when somebody pays attention
that´s also the reason you aren´t allowed in the Heartslabyul kitchen
nothing against you but either he will trip over them and hurt you or he will get stung, neither is a thing he wants to happen so easiest solution is to keep you out of the kitchen
even if that means he has to deal with you sitting in the frame of the door and giving him a sad look, a truly pitiful sight…
Cater
he thought you in your Mer form would be really camable but you always swam away or tried to drown him when he got to close
did this stop him? not really, he´s pretty determined to get a good pic of you and doesn´t care that you could seriously hurt him if not kill him
Cater is the type of person who would get himself in serious trouble for a good picture and would even think it was worth it
he even withered you down enough after a long period of time that you allowed him to take a picture of you
I mean you had nothing against it but you knew it would take time and you were just not in the mood for it
and you were right it did take a long time for him to be satisfied with the picture but it could have been worse, you won´t ever tell him but it was even a bit of fun
Ace
he hates that you always try to sting him when he just wants to be funny and with funny he means being a little menace
he is so bad even Riddle allowed you to sting Ace when he get´s to much
which would happen far to many times if you stung him every time Riddle would have allowed you to
this guy would never get out of the infirmary in this case
but he does try to use your stingers to his advantage, the biggest one is trying to get you to hug Floyd and sting him until he goes unconscious
it won´t ever happen but he wishes this would happen, he doesn´t know if he´s immune against your poison or just has a really high tolerance but Floyd barely flinches from touching them
Deuce
he fears you but also respects you, he mainly fears you because you accidentally stung him once and he landed in the infirmary for a week
but there isn´t really much that makes him fear you besides that but your stingers are really long and you don´t really have control over them… well at least in Human form you don´t have control over them
he saw you attack somebody with them in your Mer form too and that was a scary sight, he even got a new form of respect for you
and he might be a bit happy about the fact your a bit slow with learning too, it gives him not only a study buddy but somebody who knows what he´s going through
he really just developed some weird form of kinship with you

Hello Ras!! This isnt a request but do you happen to know what events Grim and Yuu canonically took part in?
Hm, good question. What do you count as "canonically took part"? Did they specifically have an "active" part? Did Grim get an outfit? Did they help save the day? Did they appear in the event? I'll list the events below and state how much Yuu participated in, because it's never so clear-cut.
Happy Beans Day 1: Yuu/Grim participates, is on the Farmer team, and accompanies Jade and Cater.
Happy Beans Day 2: While Yuu/Grim is on the Farmer team, Part 2 follows other students, so they do not "participate" in this event.
Fairy Gala: Yuu/Grim participates, assisting Ruggie in attempting to steal the magestone.
Fairy Gala IF: Yuu/Grim do not participate in the actual event beyond joining the other First Years to help Ortho.
Ghost Marriage: Yuu/Grim do not participate in the actual event beyond appearing in the event and getting their dormitory taken over.
Wish Upon a Star: Yuu/Grim do not participate in the actual event beyond tagging along with the Stargazers.
Scary Monsters! 1: While Yuu/Grim do not participate in the stamp rally (as their home was essentially taken over by Diasomnia), they do get costumes from the Ghosts.
Scary Monsters! 2: Yuu/Grim are missing before the other students attempt to save everyone, so while they get costumes at the end, they do not "participate" in this event.
Master Chef: Yuu does not participate, although Grim judges.
Vargas Camp 1 & 2: While Yuu/Grim do not participate in the camp activities, they participate as Recordkeeper.
Sam's New Year Sale: Yuu/Grim do not participate.
Welcome to Twisted Tsumderland 1 & 2: Yuu/Grim do not participate.
Port Fest: Yuu/Grim do not participate in the actual event beyond tagging along with Jack and helping run Class 1-A stand.
Glorious Masquerade: Yuu/Grim goes to the gathering of mages, Grim gets an outfit, and participates in the masquerade.
Al'ab Nariya: Yuu/Grim is invited and Yuu gets an outfit.
Kelkkarotu: Yuu/Grim is invited and Yuu/Grim get outfits, but neither participate in the race.
Tamashina-Mina: Yuu/Grim is not invited (but goes anyway), and neither participate in the competition. Grim gets an outfit.
White Rabbit Festival: Yuu/Grim is invited, and Yuu/Grim get outfits.
Lost in the Book with Stitch: Yuu/Grim are whisked away as well, and are wearing the same magical attire.
First Anniversary: Yuu/Grim participates with the First Years.
Second Anniversary: Yuu/Grim participates with the Second Years.
Third Anniversary: Yuu/Grim participates with the Third Years.

Hello, hello! Congrats on making the 300 follower milestone!👍 Well done! For the event, can I request prompt no. 17 with Riddle, Leona and Jamil, please? Thank you and kudos!
Tumblr media
17. Kissing under the fireworks
Thank you friend! Very on brand request for Jamil ha ha. I accidentally made Leona's part angsty I am so sorry
notes: they/them pronouns used for Yuu, Riddle is a bit awkward, references to the events at the very end of Ch. 5/beginning of Ch. 6 (Leona- hurt with heavy focus on comfort), references to the events of the Firelit Sky Event (Jamil- nothing too specific). Check out the rest of the requests on my masterlist here.
Tumblr media
Riddle
"Are you ok Riddle? You're really tense." You ask and wonder if it was smart, the comment makes Riddle even more rigid to a degree that has to be painful. "I can let go of your hand-"
"No!" You shouldn't be so surprised how loudly he protests, emphasizing his point by intertwining your fingers without his usual embarrassment. "We are on a date so we are holding hands." Seeing that this does not persuade you he less certainly adds: "I want to hold your hand."
"I want to hold your hand too." You reassure him, squeezing his hand to emphasize the point making Riddle practically glow with happiness. He squeezes your hand as you both settle into the colosseum bleachers waiting for the fireworks show to begin. There is a part of you that wonders what Riddle has planned, he always has some sort of itinerary when you go on dates which sounds annoying but in practice is sort of cute. Riddle needs structure to feel comfortable, and if he needs to make a mental checklist to feel comfortable holding your hand you don't mind. He's relaxing into you the longer you spend together, eventually that checklist will fade into habit and Riddle will be able to hold your hand without looking smug every time he looks down at your intertwined fingers.
Fireworks burst into the sky illuminating that smug smile and the flicker of uncertainty as his blue grey eyes focus on your lips. A normal person might not think of giving their partner a kiss as a rule, but Riddle does. Clumsily he closes the distance and bumps more than he kisses your cheek, immediately sending his mind into a panic when you turn to him confused.
But then you smile, happiness bathed in red, blue, green as you lean forward to help him achieve his goal. You kiss him and melt away all thoughts of rules and obligation under a wave of wonder and happiness.
Leona
It's strange to see Leona up this late. Stranger still that this is, apparently, completely of his own free will. "I'm surprised you asked me to come, I thought you'd hate stuff like this."
"And I'm surprised you're this excited over somethin' this simple." He neither confirms or denies your accusation, instead settling himself close to your side on the shockingly nice blanket he had insisted on bringing onto the green.
"I've never seen magic fireworks before." You mutter, and Leona is merciful enough not to laugh out loud. It's weird, this soft way he's treating you. Not that you're complaining exactly, after the incident with Grim you barely got a chance to really enjoy any of the culture fair. You didn't go out to see any of the booths past Riddle's tour until Leona dragged you out of bed this afternoon in a trope reversal that stunned you too much to properly protest. There's a part of you that wonders, well more like worries, that Leona's only really taken you around today out of some misguided sense of obligation; you can't see him ever doing anything out of pity.
Not when he braces you against his chest just before the show begins, not when he makes sure you are comfortable with the level of noise, or how he makes sure not to put too much pressure on your wound when he nuzzles himself into your neck as the show truly starts. No, there's nothing resembling pity in the way Leona looks at you.
"Beautiful, aren't they?" He contentedly murmurs in your ear, pressing a brief kiss to your cheek before you drag him back to you for a longer one on your lips.
No, there's nothing resembling pity in the way Leona looks at you; just love, and maybe an annoyingly smug sense of satisfaction.
Jamil
"Before you start, I know what I said last year and I do not want to hear about it." You aren't certain why Jamil is bringing this up now when he hadn't while inviting you. Maybe because the last time you were under these canopies you weren't friends, so the numerous less than kind things he's said about you are whirling around in his mind.
You wonder what that Jamil would think if he saw this Jamil holding you in his lap while you wait for the show to start. He'd probably have a stroke.
"I don't really remember what you're talking about." You had been really excited about seeing fireworks and having fun dressing up to really think about Jamil being, well, a bit of a sourpuss. "Besides it can't be worse than anything else you've ever said about me." Jamil is far from sour now, the smile on his face as he pulls you up to your feet to begin dancing in tune with the show is exceptionally mischievous.
"It wasn't about you really, even if I wasn't conscious of it I knew I wanted to bring you back here someday." That's news to you, sure he said he felt bad about making more work for you and had made sure to dance with you during that show, but it's not like he'd had his eye on you before his overblot. As if he could read your mind, or maybe to be more accurate as if he had been trying to provoke that exact thought, he makes sure to dance more intimately than he did last time, reaching to hold you in his arms as the climax of the show explodes above you. The first kiss is brief, a gentle peck because he wants to get a good look at you in your outfit bathed in the firelit sky before the second.
It had been an idle thought then, but if that Jamil could see this one his smug satisfaction would outweigh the embarrassment. To be anyone's first choice was a win, to be yours? A complete and total victory.
