Prosthesis for Legs Prosthesis for Legs: Regaining Independence with the Right Leg Prosthetic Types.
Losing a limb can be one of life’s most difficult transitions but with the right prosthesis for your legs, it’s possible to reclaim your independence, mobility, and quality of life. Whether the cause is trauma, vascular conditions, cancer, or complications from diabetes, modern prosthetic limbs are designed to support recovery, function, and confidence.
Tumblr media
Understanding Different Leg Prosthetic Types
There are several leg prosthetic types, each suited to specific levels of amputation and individual goals:
Below-Knee Prosthesis Leg (Transtibial): This is one of the most common prosthetic types. It preserves the natural knee joint, which allows for a smoother, more energy-efficient walking pattern. It is often easier to adapt to and provides greater stability.
Above-Knee Prosthesis Leg (Transfemoral): In this case, the prosthesis includes an artificial knee joint. While it may require more strength and training to use, advances in microprocessor-controlled knees have significantly improved mobility, balance, and safety.
Hip Disarticulation Prosthetics: These are used in rare but complex cases involving full leg removal at the hip level. They involve a highly specialized design and extensive rehabilitation, but they enable basic ambulation and improved upper-body engagement.
Artificial Foot Prosthetics: These components form the foundation of any lower-limb prosthesis. From solid ankle cushioned heel (SACH) feet to dynamic response energy-storing feet, options vary based on lifestyle—whether for everyday walking or athletic performance.
Choosing the Right Prosthesis for Legs
Finding the right prosthetic leg isn’t a one-size-fits-all decision. Factors such as age, activity level, occupational needs, medical history, and personal goals all influence the selection. Individuals who lead active lifestyles may opt for prosthetics with higher mobility features, while older adults may prefer options focused on stability and comfort.
Budget and insurance coverage also play a role. While basic prosthetics are more affordable, advanced limbs with microprocessors and shock absorption features offer enhanced functionality but at a higher cost.
Special Consideration: Diabetic Foot Care
For individuals with diabetes, prosthetic selection and maintenance require extra caution. Nerve damage (neuropathy), poor circulation, and fragile skin increase the risk of infections, ulcers, and delayed healing.
A below-knee prosthesis leg designed with extra cushioning, seamless liners, and adjustable sockets can reduce pressure points and friction. Regular visits to a prosthetist, along with daily foot inspections and podiatric care, are essential to long-term success and comfort.
The Prosthetic Fitting and Rehabilitation Journey
Getting a prosthesis involves several steps:
Initial assessment and custom measurements
Fabrication of the socket and alignment of components
Fittings and test walks
Gait training and physical therapy
This process is especially important for artificial foot prosthetics, which need to match the person’s walking style and terrain exposure.
With time, users typically progress from assistive devices to walking independently. Emotional and psychological support also plays a key role throughout this journey.
Conclusion
A high-quality prosthesis for legs can redefine life after amputation. By understanding the different types of prosthetic limbs—from transtibial to transfemoral—and incorporating essential diabetic foot care, individuals can walk confidently toward a renewed, independent life. Each step becomes a testament to resilience, technology, and personalized care.

Febuwhump Day 28: Recovery
Whenever he stirred, even for a few moments, the first thing Mikey registered was someone’s hand around his. Sometimes the grip was so fiercely tight, the IV in his dorsum ached; if the shadow at his bedside noticed he was awake, they squeezed even tighter.
A reminder that he still had one good hand to hold.
Sometimes their grasp would go slack, if the shadow was dozing too. Sometimes their fingers trembled with grief. But they never left.
He wouldn’t just leave.
“Donnie…?” Mikey slurred.
A stifled sob. A blue mask could be easily confused for purple in the dark.

💙 in payment, a hand
by justdoityoufucker (orphan_account)
M, 10k, Series, Wangxian
Summary: “It was a kindness she didn’t take your right hand,” Jiang Yanli is the one to say, when she’s arrived with Jiang-shushu and he’s finally been taken to the healers. Not that the healers can do much. - Or, the one where Wei Wuxian's hand is taken. Kay's comments: I absolutely adore this series and I'm still heartbroken that justdoityoufucker orphaned all their works, but thankfully, the stories didn't get deleted and are still here for us to enjoy! This story has everything that I love: a fix-it that it's rooted in "it gets worse before it gets better", canon-divergence, Wen siblings feelings, Wei Wuxian finding his own path away from the Jiang Sect and Wangian finding their way together, it's the perfect package! It explores how the story could have gone, if Madam Yu had cut off Wei Wuxian's hand to save Lotus Pier and I love which directions it took. Excerpt: When Wei Ying wakes again, he initially thinks himself alone in the room, Wen Qing and Wen Ning’s beds neatly made up and the two of them not in eyesight when he pushes himself to sitting. He’s wrong. He’s not alone. There’s an achingly familiar white-clad form at the low table, sitting with perfect posture, writing with exact precision. Lan Zhan. Lan Zhan, he thinks the other boy’s name but he must say it out loud because Lan Zhan turns to him like a flower toward sun. He doesn’t know why, but upon the sight of Lan Zhan, upon the way his eyes soften with worry when he sees Wei Ying, Wei Ying bursts into tears. It’s all so much, too much, and he wants to go to sleep and wake up and have it be before all this, before his hand got cut off, before the Xuanwu, before everything. If he didn’t know better, he’d think Lan Zhan was starting to look worried about the sudden tears, which was a funny thought, but not funny enough to override the sudden realization of just how much his life has been ruined by those he once thought to be his family. “Wei Ying,” Lan Zhan finally says, standing and stepping forward until he’s right next to the bed. He hesitates for a second, then flicks his sleeves out and neatly sits there, on the edge of the bed, and doesn’t even flinch when Wei Ying collapses into him.
pov wei wuxian, canon divergence, fall of lotus pier, sunshot campaign, family of choice, found family, amputation, injury recovery, major character injury, jiang family dynamics, not jiang family friendly, implied/referenced abuse, love confessions, getting together, first kiss, self-reflection, angst with a happy ending, no golden core transfer, angst with hurt/comfort, recovery, weddings

Whumptober Day 30 - Walls of Regret
Recovery | Hospital Bed | Holding Back Tears | ‘what have I done’
Summary: Peter Parker has saved the universe with a snap of his fingers and now he awakes in a hospital bed to the consequences of his actions. Conflicted and confused, he lashes out at the people he loves the most.
Also posted to AO3
Peter’s brain is buzzing as he slowly claws his way back to consciousness, eyelids twitching apathetically as he rolls his head towards the voice echoing towards him. There’s a loud, insistent beeping piercing his ear drums, his head throbs with each pulse of the sound. As he peels his eyes open, the room is dimly lit by two lamps either side of the bed in which he lies.
He recognises this bed, it’s one he’s been in several times over and the man sitting in the chair next to him has become a staple of this room as well. Tony Stark is always sitting right here whenever Peter finds himself in the infirmary of the Avengers Compound.
‘There he is,’ Mr Stark murmurs, one hand carding through the hair on Peter’s head. ‘How’re you feeling, buddy?’
Peter’s brows pull together as he looks up at his mentor, wincing at the pain it brings. The right side of his body feels horribly sensitive, like the nerves are exposed through the skin. His right arm aches where it rests across his chest, but he can’t lift his head enough to get a good glimpse at the limb. All he can do is look up at Tony.
‘What happened?’ he croaks, trying to clear his throat, but to no avail. Tony offers a sympathetic look and then turns around in his chair to reach for a cup with a straw which he brings to the boy’s mouth. Peter drinks from it greedily, allowing the cool liquid to soothe his burning throat.
‘You don’t remember?’ Mr Stark asks casually when Peter is done, returning the cup to its original place. ‘Not anything?’
Peter frowns again, eyes skating back and forth as he tries to recall what could have possibly landed him here. Was he on patrol? He’s never been injured this badly on patrol before, it must have been really bad. It wasn’t patrol, though, Peter’s sure of that much.
There were aliens, actual aliens and he was in space. That’s right, they were in space with a wizard and… everything faded away. He doesn’t remember what happened next and tells Tony as much.
‘That’s alright, Dr Cho said it might take a minute for everything to come back,’ Tony replies, still pulling his fingers through Peter’s hair. ‘Still haven’t told me how you’re feeling, though,’
Peter shrugs his good arm weakly. ‘Hurts,’
‘Yeah, I bet.’ Tony is still giving him that sympathetic look that sets his teeth on edge. Something has clearly happened, something bad and Peter needs to know before his imagination starts making stories up. He can’t see what’s happened to his right arm and the whole right side of his body aches, Peter needs to know what’s wrong. There’s a lump building in his throat, his eyes sting and he’s trying desperately to keep the tears at bay but fears it may be a losing battle.
‘Tony, please tell me what happened,’ he says quietly, looking over at his mentor imploringly. ‘I don’t want to wait to remember, I need to know,’
Tony sighs, a conflicted look crossing his face but his fingers don’t still once in the boy’s hair. Peter’s lip is trembling, he desperately wants to reach out to grasp Tony’s hand, but finds that he can’t move a muscle.
‘You remember that big alien guy? Thanos?’ Tony begins, looking anywhere but Peter’s eyes. ‘He wanted to get the Infinity Stones to wipe us all out. You got to them first, buddy, you… you saved everyone,’
Tony’s voice cracks and his fingers tighten in Peter’s hair as he bends over, inhaling deeply, clearly fighting his own battle against his own tears. Peter can do nothing but watch as his mentor holds back his tears, gripping Peter’s hair almost painfully like it’s the only lifeline he has.
‘That’s good, isn’t it? I saved everyone, they’re all okay?’ Peter questions and that seems to break Tony because his head drops all the way to his knees and a terrible noise comes from his chest, a horrid sob resounding through the room.
Peter watches as his shoulders shake, trying to figure out why he’s crying and what he’s supposed to do to help. Slowly and with great agony, he manages to pry his left arm free of the bed and gracelessly lifts it onto Tony’s shoulder, digging his fingers in slightly in an attempt to comfort.
Tony’s sobs subside and he straightens up after a moment, wiping his tears and taking Peter’s hand in his.
‘Yeah, kid, they’re all okay, but you…’ Tony sucks in a long breath as though steeling himself to deliver this information. ‘You have irreparable nerve damage in the right side of your body. Dr Cho said that the pain you will feel for the next few days is a phantom pain and then… The muscles in your leg will heal, you’ll be able to walk but she may need to amputate your arm. You’ll never regain any feeling in the right side of your body,’
Peter frowns at this information. It can’t possibly be true, this isn’t something that would happen to him. He’s Spider-Man, he can heal from anything. Nothing ever gets him down for more than a day or two. This can’t be happening.
‘No… No, that’s not… that can’t be right,’ Peter breathes, releasing his grip on Tony’s hand and pulling his own away. ‘I- I heal, Tony, I don’t… I can’t… No!’
Peter curses the person he was, curses the stupid child who wanted to save everyone, to prove himself as an Avenger. Look at where that’s gotten him. Crippled in a hospital bed, his mentor crying at his bedside and half his body rendered all but useless.
What has he done?
‘The radiation was too much, even for you. I’m sorry, Peter, it was meant to be me,’ Tony says shakily, reaching back for Peter’s hand, but he turns away.
‘It’s not your fault,’ he responds bluntly, because it isn’t. This isn’t anyone’s fault but his own and he needs Tony to know that because this isn’t the time for him to fall into a pit of despair. This is Peter’s pit of despair and no one else may join him. ‘Can you leave?’
Tony’s breath hitches. ‘What?’
‘Please leave,’ Peter repeats, more firmly this time. ‘I want to be alone,’
For a moment, Peter thinks he’s going to argue. Tony has never left Peter in a hospital bed before he’s been sure the boy is fine. In the end, Peter hears Tony’s chair scraping against the floor and his hand leaves Peter’s head. There’s a moment of hesitation, and then Peter feels Tony lean down and press a soft kiss against his temple. Then, he leaves.
And Peter is alone in this dimly lit hospital room, left arm hanging limply over the side of his bed, covered in a thin sheet and wondering what his right arm must look like. Only then, when nobody else is in the room, does Peter allow the tears to finally fall from his eyes, dripping over the bridge of his nose and down onto his pillow. He stares at the door where he can see Tony’s silhouette through the curtained window, speaking with someone else. Pepper, perhaps, and someone small stands to the side, someone whose head barely reaches the bottom of the window. Peter wonders who that is.
Hours pass and Tony eventually returns with Dr Cho, they run test after test and Peter allows them to do what they must, all the while wishing to be anywhere but here. He wishes he had let Tony Snap, as they’re calling it, or wishes the Snap had simply killed him. Anything would be better than this awful limbo in which he lies, crippled yet brimming with energy, body tingling and yet numb. Apparently the feeling will subside, though Peter’s not sure he’s ready for it to. Not sure he’s ready to feel nothing.
They assure him that he’ll regain the use of the right side of his body, but for now he’ll need the support of a crutch to walk. Peter doesn’t speak to them, merely allows them to rattle off information to him and meaningless reassurances that everything will be okay.
None of this is okay. Spider-Man shouldn’t be this pathetic, this crippled. It’s not right. He should be better than this, should have been just fine. All the stupid bollocks Aunt May has always told him about looking out for everyone else flits through his mind and he selfishly curses her. If she hadn’t taught him that, if she’d let him grow up selfish rather than endless self-sacrificing, he wouldn’t be staring down a future with only half a fully-functioning body.
It’s a few days before Peter allows anyone but Tony to come in and even Tony only comes in because Peter threatened to skin the nurse alive if she touched his bad shoulder again. It didn’t hurt, he didn’t even feel it, but he could see it and it made his blood boil.
Tony insists that he see Aunt May after a few days, so she comes in with a peace offering of Pepper’s famous rocky road and he just about tolerates sitting with her. Peter simply doesn’t want to be near anyone. But Tony keeps bringing in more and more people. Aunt May is followed a few days later by Pepper, then Happy the next day and then all of a sudden this five year old child is bounding over to him, throwing his arms around his shoulders and declaring them to be siblings.
Morgan Stark. Tony’s spoken about her a lot, he always sounds nervous when bringing her up, as though worried Peter might hate her. Now Peter might not be feeling his friendliest, but he’s no monster. He can’t hate a five year old girl.
‘Daddy says you’ve got a sick arm, Petey,’ Morgan says bluntly and Peter smiles stiffly at her. ‘I had a sick arm once, too. I fell off the swing and breaked it right in two!’
‘Is that so?’ Peter asks, trying to sound nice but he thinks it just comes out sharp and sarcastic. Morgan doesn’t seem to notice or, if she does, she clearly doesn’t care.
‘Yeah, and then Daddy taked me to Dr Cho and she fixed me all up! Is she gonna fix you up too?’ she ploughs on innocently. Tony moves to intervene, but Peter just shoots him a look, harsher than he intends, but it gets the message across nonetheless.
‘Maybe. Maybe she’ll just chop the whole thing off and be done with it,’ Peter says sullenly, expecting the girl to recoil and back off. She only giggles and sets about clambering up onto Peter’s bed. He doesn’t feel a thing when she accidentally puts all her weight on his right arm.
‘Then Daddy will build you a robot arm! You’ll be like Uncle Rhodey!’ she declares happily.
Aunt May always said children have an uncanny, and oftentimes infuriating, ability to cling to optimism even when everything seems lost. It was always Peter she’d say that about and he’d always laugh, saying nothing can be bad forever. Oh, how wrong he was.
This will be bad forever, no matter what fancy robot arm Tony can make for him or how well his muscles recover. Horrible, ugly scars marr his body and any chance he had clung to that he might one day live a normal life are dashed. He’ll be the laughing stock of the school, ridiculed by all and he’ll have to come up with some explanation to satisfy Flash.
Maybe he’ll just say he fell into a fireplace, not that he knows anyone with a fireplace other than Tony Stark himself. Either way, Peter’s life is well and truly doomed. He’ll wander through it, ruined and broken, forever damned to the life of an invalid. Maybe he’ll never be Spider-Man again, perhaps Spider-Man died in the Battle of Earth as they’re calling it. A pathetic name, really, if Peter’s going to live with these scars forever he’d rather be able to say they came from somewhere a little more exciting.
He’ll never be able to tell a soul where they came from, though. This will be a secret he drags down to his grave and holds onto forever. The secret of how his face was ruined, why his arm is missing and replaced with a Stark Industries prosthetic when he can barely afford an iPhone will be a burden he’ll carry forever. All because he had to be a selfless asshole.

Thanks for answering my last question I got another one
It more like a what if question what if Sasuke stay in the village after the war how long would it take Sasuke become a Chunin or Jonin straight away or a couple of months or longer
Assuming that Sasuke was willing to go through the promotion system (I don't think post-war it matters to him so much; he knows how strong he is), the timeline would probably depend on what system he was using for promotion.
There's the traditional route of standardized testing at scheduled times, or something specific to him, as they do with Naruto by having him study to become a chunin/jonin in the anime.
If it were the traditional route, and Sasuke chose to sit a scheduled exams, it could be like, anywhere from 2-9 months. We know that chunin exams are held bi-annually (Chapter 39) and the exams we see are the ones starting July 1st (Chapter 34).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The war ends around Naruto's birthday, which is October 10th. Assuming they do their second bi-annual exam at an equal distance of time, like in December, Sasuke could sit that exam, which would be 2-3 months. But everyone has also just suffered devastating losses and restructured their entire working relationships with the other major villages, so if they skipped that exam period, there likely wouldn't be another opportunity until July. So, October to July would be around 9 months and a few weeks. So, 2-3 months, or 9-10 months, in that route.
I would lean towards Sasuke taking a less traditional route and doing independent study, simply because we know based on the fact we never see him with a jonin status it's not a big priority for him. So, if you did it that way, it could be any amount of time. Naruto wiki tells me they told Naruto it would be two years of study in the anime. So it could be 2 years by independent study route, or less if you wanted to individualize it. Sasuke has always had better fundamentals and retention than Naruto, so it could definitely be argued it'd take Sasuke less time, like a year or less.
In either case, you'd probably want to fact in a sizeable recovery time for the loss of his dominant hand, and probably having to entirely relearn how to fight and do jutsu. So the 9-12 month range seems more grounded in that sense.
However, even if I don't think Sasuke would jump at standardized testing, I do think it'd be very funny and cute for Sasuke and Naruto to take the chunin exams with some fresh Academy graduates, so as always, do whatever works best for you. I always think it'd be adorable if Sasuke, Naruto and Konohamaru took an exam together.
TLDR: I would lean toward 9-12 months by independent study or standardized exam until he could be promoted due to the changes to the village and the loss of Sasuke's arm.

🏐✨What do you do when the one person who sees you… isn’t supposed to?✨🏐
Spencer Callahan wasn’t supposed to make it back to the court—not after the accident, not with a full leg prosthesis, and definitely not with half the country whispering about whether he’s more “inspiration porn” than athlete.
But he did it anyway.
Now he’s nineteen, mouthy, sharp-eyed, and fighting like hell to prove he belongs. Even if it means biting back the pain, the flashbacks, the way his body doesn’t quite move like it used to. Even if it means pretending he doesn’t see the way people look at his leg.
Or worse—pretending it doesn’t feel lonely out there.
And then there’s Tate Anderson.
He’s twenty-five. Stoic. Controlled. The team’s newest physiotherapist. And the only one who’s never once looked at Spencer like he’s fragile.
He’s also, unfortunately, deeply off-limits.
But that doesn’t stop Tate from noticing the limp Spencer tries to hide. The way his jaw clenches when he stands too fast. The nights he skips team dinner and disappears behind a locked bathroom door.
It definitely doesn’t stop him from caring.
And when one too many comments, one too-late-night, and one too-vulnerable moment sparks a shift between them, both of them have to choose:
Do they play it safe?
Or do they risk everything— team, career, and the last pieces of themselves— for a chance at something that feels like home?
👟FEATURING:
• A messy, stubborn, reckless disabled athlete with a chip on his shoulder and a lot of feelings
• A quiet, protective, emotionally constipated physiotherapist who touches people like they might break but holds Spencer like he won’t
• Found family, trauma recovery, volleyball tournaments, and boys learning how to stay
If you like:
❤️‍🔥Slow burn tension that hurts
🧠 Characters who cope through sarcasm and survival
🦿 Realistic disabled rep that doesn’t pull punches

Medical trauma can leave you feeling voiceless. You didn’t choose the earth-shattering diagnoses – you had a stroke, you have cancer, you need an amputation – you could die. Medical personnel speak in their terminology, and you feel lost. Suddenly, you don’t seem to understand the meaning of common words, and the world becomes an overwhelming, too-loud place. MAIZIE - Late one Sunday, we were alerted to a very young mama cat who was stuck at a city shelter and had been in labor all day. She had given birth to four stillborn babies early in the morning and was still suffering. She needed to see a vet as soon as possible.
Maizie was rushed to an emergency vet and it was determined that there was one large kitten still in the birth canal. Sadly, the kitten had no heartbeat, The vet performed an emergency c-section as Maze would not have survived otherwise. She was also severely anemic as she lost a lot of blood with the placentas for each birth. She was in intensive care and is now being monitored closely. Unfortunately, she's suffered permanent nerve damage to her back legs.
Tumblr media
OLIVE was found by our Los Angeles team with her ears mutilated and a back leg broken in two places. She needed her leg amputated but after recovery, she was pain free and adopted.
Tumblr media
SIMONE (aka Cally) came to us with three nursing kittens and a severe viral infection. Her fever shot up to 105 and we rushed her to an emergency clinic. Simone stayed at the clinic for a week, receiving IV antibiotics, fluids, anti-nausesa medication, and many tests.
Tumblr media
ASH's jaw was badly broken in a domestic violence situation, leaving him in terrible pain and unable to eat. He required a feeding tube, hospitalization, and three surgeries.
Tumblr media
TEDDY was only a few days old when he developed pneumonia. He spent several days at the vet, requiring round-the-clock monitoring and care. He also required a feeding tube because he was so congested that he could not eat and breathe at the same time, and he was placed in an incubator.
Tumblr media
ROO was born with both back legs wrapped around his body and badly deformed. ACR got him physical therapy, massages, and laser treatment, which fixed his legs. Though he eventually lost his right paw, ACR was able to give him complete mobility.
Tumblr media
BUBBLEGUM was born 1/4 the size of his littermates. He's had multiple issues including a heart murmur, digestive trouble, and delayed growth. we have taken him to the veterinarian and multiple veterinary specialists many times throughout his development to try to determine what is wrong. Almost an adult now, he shows signs of weakness and has an enlarged spleen and lymph nodes, inflamed gums and teeth, and ACR continues to work with vets and specialists on his healing
......
Some cats need emergency treatment for a week, recover, and then find their forever home. Others require continued or follow up care for much longer. We are gratified to be able to give happy endings to kittens and cats in dire need. Please help us continue to do this by donating to Alley Cat Rescue's life-saving program this #GivingTuesday.

A Review of Change of Plans by Dylan Newton
Rating: ★★★★★
Time to Read: 3 days
Release Date: August 1, 2023
Tumblr media
Overview:
When Bryce Weatherford's brother and sister-in-law die suddenly in a car crash, she moves home from Florida to take guardianship of her three nieces. Things are no where near easy though as she's constantly putting out fires, fighting their grandparent's for custody and dealing with three rambunctious, grieving girls. Between running around trying to make end's meet, keep up with the girls schedule and
Enter Ryker Matthews. A small town well known brother with a hero complex, who is suffering from PTSD after serving in Afghanistan and losing part of his leg to an IED. Ryker seems to be in the right place at the right time when Bryce and the girls need help and soon these two lost adults find comfort in an unexpected place. When some serious miscommunication threatens to break what has developed what will happen?
Review:
This duel POV rom-com was fantastic. I loved the personalities of all the characters from Ryker's broody RBF, to Bryce's choatic life of always seeming to be one step behind, to the moody teen June (who secretly loves Ryker's author brother Drake), and can't exist without fairy wings Addison. I love the found family trope of Bryce getting custody of her nieces and Ryker being his awkward self trying his hardest to help, even if sometimes it backfires (I'm looking at you Easter Bunny Ryker).
I did not know this was part of a series following the three Matthews' brothers lives, I am going to have to go and find the others to read. This book can be read as a standalone,  Ryker’s family makes multiple appearances and I didn’t feel I missed anything not knowing his brothers’ backstories.
Book 1, How Sweet it is. (Drake's story)
Book 2, All Fired Up. (Zander's story)
Book 3, Change of Plans. (Ryker's story)
Thanks to NetGalley, Forever and Dylan Newton for an early digital copy in exchange for my honest review!
