A lot of folks ask me for help finding old QSMP VODs that are no longer on Twitch and/or YouTube, so I want to let people know about this very useful resource created by the MCYT Archivist community!
The QSMP Archive Project is dedicated to locating, collecting and archiving QSMP VODs to make them easily accessible to the community. Hundreds of VODs from every member are included in this spreadsheet, which is meticulously organized by month / day / streamer.
Due to the sheer amount of VODs that exist, MCYT-Archives is always looking for help fleshing out this and other server archives for Squidcraft, Arkanis, DSMP, and more.
Check out the MCYT Archive Project Discord or @mcyt-archives for more info if you want to help!

“ships should at least make sense.” no. ships can make sense, sure. but they’re just fictional characters we play with for fun. they’re fantasies, not a fucking thesis paper. so no, they don’t always have to make sense. they just have to make you happy (or horny).
let people enjoy (fictional) things however they want to enjoy.

Reading my own fanfiction is basically just a rollercoaster of emotional whiplash.
20% of the time: “Hold on. I wrote this? This is fire. This is emotionally devastating in the best way. This scene is dripping with tension. I’m a literary perfectionist. Someone give me a book deal.”
80% of the time: “Straight to jail. Immediate prison. Why is everyone’s breath hitching?. I used the word ‘gaze’ three times in one paragraph like I was possessed. Did I think 'his eyes darkened' was profound? Why is everyone clenching their jaws? Why is someone whispering 'their name like a prayer' again?? No one talks like this. What is this dialogue. Why are there so many weird metaphors and em-dashes…”

Fanfiction is so silly. I am playing with my dolls and people are coming over to watch. Some of them even clap and give me compliments. And when I'm done playing, I can go and watch other people play with their dolls.

My friend presented some of her thesis in class today and focused on narrative history and archives in her home county. In it, she spoke to people who shared stories and one of them really got to me.
The lady says she didn’t know much about her grandmother, but saw records of people talking about a women whose baby died, and some of the local children went out and picked flowers for her. She found out that that woman was her grandmother.
It got me thinking about my grandmother, and I wonder if anyone have her flowers when she lost her baby. My father didn’t die, but was taken, and then shipped cross country. So much community, so much history, a community history that neither I, nor my father will ever have.

Practicum - Interference Archive
Project Title: Interference Archive Library Inventory creation
Project Description: During my time volunteering at Interference Archive, I began the project of creating a working inventory for the archive’s non-circulating library of books. This was done to make books findable, as well as to weed duplicates from the collection for a book sale that will take place in December. The creation of the inventory was the first step in a larger project of organizing the organization’s library that will continue past I graduate from Pratt.
Methods: An inventory of this collection already existed on Libibb, a cloud based library management and circulation system for schools, organizations, and individuals, that I noticed wasn’t utilized much by volunteers and visitors. I determined that it would be easiest to create an inventory in Google Sheets as volunteers and patrons could access this inventory quickly through the institution’s Basecamp. I began by migrating the inventory from LibIbb as a .csv file and pruned any redundant rows. I then went through books that were set to be weeded and began to note which books were present in the collection and which are being removed.
My Role: Interference Archive is a volunteer run community archive that has a non-hierarchical volunteer structure. Volunteers are encouraged to take on projects and communicate together about what we are working on. My role for this project was to staff the archive, and while doing so work on the creation of this catalog. I am also an active member of the institution’s Born Digital working group, which meets monthly to work with the institution’s AV collections.
Learning Objectives Achieved: Ethical / Critical / Creative Practice
Rationale: This project required me to think critically about the needs of the archive, the community that utilizes this library, and how to best serve patrons wishing to view this collection. I had to make judgment calls on what information to prune from the inventory, and what books to remove from the library. This required critical thinking and knowledge I gained in classes such as Foundations of Information, Management of Archives and Special Collections, and Metadata Design.
Volunteering at the archive has been a highly generative experience for me in and of itself. Working together in a community of archivists who care about these materials has reinforced the ethics of care and a sense of stewardship I feel as an archivist. We all volunteer because we care about the organization and the information it houses. To me, this act of care and the sense of responsibility that it holds is a central part of what I would like to continue to do in my career.
This project is ongoing, and I plan to create a report outlining my experience and findings. Once this is completed I will include the link here.

GET KOSA TRENDING.
STOP SCROLLING NOW!
AS OF FEBRUARY 21ST, 2024, WE GOT FIVE DAYS UNTIL THE DAY OF DECISION OF THE KOSA BILL, WHICH WILL CAUSE MASS CENSORSHIP ROUND THE INTERNET IF PASSED. WE NEED EVERYONE TO KNOW ABOUT THIS AND CONTRIBUTE. I'M NOT GIVING UP ON YOU ALL.
(IMPORTANT UPDATE: Kosa will not necessarily pass on the 26th. It only has the support to pass in Senate, and we STILL HAVE TIME. That being said, time is of the essence.)
WE'RE DOWN TO THE WIRE BUT WE CAN'T GIVE UP YET. IF WE GIVE UP, EVERYTHING IS OVER. IF WE DON'T, AT LEAST WE HAVE A CHANCE.
I'M THE ONE WHO SOUNDED THE ALARM, AND I'M NOT GOING TO CURL UP AND DIE YET.
Reblog this post in every LEGAL way you can under the Tumblr guidelines with the appropriate tags. TELL AND TAG EVERYONE YOU KNOW, then add the tags to see below... and more if you can think of any complying.
Visit badinternetbills.com if you want to find a way to defeat KOSA. It WILL NOT take much of your time. Reblog with any other information or sources, too-- but make sure to reblog if you can.
Reblog if you support lgbtq+ content.
Reblog if you support questioning queer youth and/or abused youth getting the information they need.
Reblog if you support Ao3 and/or other sites that wholeheartedly preserve talentedly made media.
Reblog if you're going to repost this on other sites than Tumblr and spread the word across Twitter, Tik Tok, Pinterest, or elsewhere, alongside the link to badinternetbills.com.
Reblog if you think KOSA is unfair and shouldn't be anyone's problem -- including the adults ALL OVER THE DAMN EARTH forced to face the mass censorship it causes because "think of the American Children!".
Reblog if you support internet activism and Palestine.
Reblog if you hate fascism or censorship, and don't want actually serious and helpful conversations censored on the internet.
Reblog if you value the internet in any way at all whatsoever.
CHECK THIS PETITION, TOO! https://www.change.org/p/stop-the-kosa?recruiter=1331807538&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=sms&utm_campaign=psf_combo_share_initial&utm_term=psf&recruited_by_id=57368c40-d0fd-11ee-98f7-2175430f819f&share_bandit_exp=initial-36809664-en-US
(Also, please reblog with at least "stop kosa" as a tag and not "kosa". I made the mistake of not adding just "kosa" as a tag...)
We won't let this stand any longer. Let's start a riot and get this trending.
(Update: this is outdated, but we should still talk about it. Get Kosa trending.)

"If you use em dash in your works, it makes them look AI generated. No real human uses em dash."
Imaging thinking actual human writers are Not Real because they use... professional writing in their works.
Imagine thinking millions of people who have been using em dash way before AI becomes a thing are all robots.
