This is just my own personal way of dealing with the issue but if possible, I try to turn it into more whump opportunities!
For the showers maybe they don't get those, but they're given a bucket of water, some small rags, and a bar of soap to clean themselves off with. Then they have to deal with the cold cell air as they wait for their bodies to dry off naturally, because not cleaning themselves means some sort of punishment (as well as the natural consequences of b.o. of course).
The cell could have a prison style toilet that's given a one-off reference for the sake of the viewer, or each captive could be marched to a restroom with some heavy restraints. Whichever the story calls for!
With shaving of course things get a bit more complicated, especially if your kidnapper isn't very touchy-feely, but they could always be gruffly shaven clean by a guard once a week or month, or the kidnapper could do it themself for the sake of "aesthetics" or "hygiene."
Of course there's about a million ways you could go about solving your realism problems, and it's not something you need to do, but if it keeps poking at you then you might as well have some fun with it and make your characters more miserable in the process!
Sometimes it's a curse, being a writer who instinctively tries for as much realism as possible. It's one reason I don't go for a lot of long-term captivity stories. Like, I start thinking about how & when the captives use the restroom, or how unlikely it is that a clean-shaven guy would stay that way. (Give the captive a razor? I think not.)
The more details you add, the more ridiculous it gets. Are there two captives? Do they use the same restroom? Do they each get their own toothbrush?? Or do the mean kidnappers not give them one, and the poor captives have to sit there being grossed out by their own teeth? This is not the part of the story I care about at all, and yet my brain keeps piping up like a smartass, going "But have you considered--"
This is annoying me tonight because I'm writing bits of the bodyguard story that I said I wouldn't write and it occurs to me that if a kidnapper decides to grab two dudes and put them in a cell without much air flow, and doesn't let them take showers...it's going to get rank in there pretty fast. I'm just going to ignore that. If I can. Argh.....

{PS: These are my own interpretations. For entertainment purposes only. Have Fun💚.}
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Mercury in the natal chart represents intelligence, communication, thinking patterns, and how one processes and expresses ideas. It governs speech, learning style, problem-solving abilities, and adaptability in social interactions. Its placement by sign and house reveals how a person thinks, learns, and shares information, influencing everything from daily conversations to career choices. A strong Mercury enhances logic, wit, and versatility, while a challenged Mercury may indicate difficulties in expression or scattered thinking.]
Mercury in Aries

These individuals excel at initiating projects, brainstorming ideas, and making spontaneous decisions. Mercury's opposition to Neptune is a challenge between logic and fantasy. These people may have an issue with clear seeing, becoming lost in idealism or wishful thinking. They are highly creative but need to be careful not to lose their grip on reality. Learning to balance imagination and practical reason allows them to harness their gifts.

They may also have difficulty expressing themselves for fear of revealing too much. By opening up to communicate and releasing the need for control, they can constructively use their penetrating insights.

Caitlyn Kiramman: The Perfect Scapegoat
*Spoilers For Arcane*
Tumblr media
Good morning all! So continuing my slow descent into insanity let us discuss Arcane once more. Last night trying to fall asleep I was scrolling Archive and came across another of what I think I have seen being called "aftermath" works, just meaning it is the particular author's spin on Cait and Vi's life fairly immediately following the end of season two.
I am not going to name the work or the author because fan-fiction is literally creative art for the author to do with as they please, and I certainly don't have to read anything I don't want to, so I have no desire to call this person out. But I have seen this sort of thing a lot and wanted to discuss it.
"Caitlyn has to face the consequences for her crimes"
Now I have read some truly abhorrent concepts of "justice" people have put Caitlyn through for her actions, and won't be going there. Some are downright inhuman and others just display a hilarious lack of understanding. But the reason this one stuck with me and really had me thinking is that even though it was not the author's intent based on their notes, I actually think they actually did a fantastic job sharing another side of how Caitlyn was utterly failed by almost everyone around her.
In this particular work, the surviving councilors and the prominent people of Piltover have Caitlyn arrested and conduct a tribunal. Including Mel and Shoola. She is called to answer for a host of charges such as allying with a foreign power against her own people, wrongful imprisonment and so on. You get the idea.
So why does this particular idea stick out to me? Because the audacity of the same people who practically fed Caitlyn to Ambessa, as well as surrendered Piltover while pounding their chests and cheering blaming Caitlyn is so nauseatingly realistic it hurts.
QUICK THING ON MEL:
Tumblr media
Now let me clear. Mel would never. And had she been there she would have put a stop to that shit or at the very least nodded along while her mother called Caitlyn up then went to Caitlyn afterward in private and started fixing things. But, it is worth noting that Mel knew full and completely what her mother was planning in terms of starting a war to weaponize hex-tech. And as far as we are aware (I think we can assume she told Alora but we don't know for sure) didn't tell anyone. She was trying to stop her behind the scenes through her shadow games. And there are reasons and justifications for that certainly. In fact I think it's safe to assume Mel may have been afraid her mother would just outright attack if Mel was too aggressive in opposing her. Mel was a politician only at this time, and solved problems through more cerebral methods. Even when her magic manifests it is one primarily of protection and deflection, not head on aggression. Not to mention Mel's unavoidable conflicting emotions opposing her at all. But we will never how things could have been different if the rest of the council were aware of Ambessa's plan to begin with.
WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED:
Tumblr media
This is primarily about her actual time as commander but I wanted to touch on the task force. I recently was discussing the task force/use of The Grey with another user and they stated Caitlyn staged a coup to lead the task force. This of course is in no way true, but as my wife put it:
"She didn't stage a coup but not a single one of those spineless adults thought to look at the emotionally sandblasted college kid and say -No. You haven't even taken a beat since you were abducted and terrorized by your mother's killer and you have just survived another fight. We will figure this out but you don't need this right now. Go hug your incredibly hot girlfriend and take like a fifteen hour nap- instead they let themselves take the easy way out and pinned it all on Caitlyn."
The Commander:
Tumblr media
I am not gonna do a whole recap or a break-down of how Ambessa plays these people like a fiddle again. If you are interested I'd love to hear your thoughts on the documents where I have covered those topics!
In Summary: Caitlyn has returned from her mission with the strike team ending in heartbreak and failure in terms of Jinx at least. Totally isolated and alone, not having healed from any of the trauma she has suffered since the beginning of S1 A2, she stands with the other Enforcers while Ambessa expertly manipulates the prominent families of Piltover, the two surviving councilors, and a large amount of Enforcers you would have to assume included leadership (given their presence here and that there clearly many more than this total) into not only agreeing to Martial Law, but to Caitlyn as their commander.
"Caitlyn could have said no"- This is certainly true. I don't think anyone is arguing that myself included. Bu it is extraordinarily important to factor in Caitlyn's mental state at this point which includes a completely mind-boggling amount of trauma. As well as the fact that her people are angry and afraid, and as a Kiramman even at her young age she is someone they look to. Now sprinkle in a healthy amount of mob mentality and manipulation by Ambessa, as she is standing in a crowd of people thumping their chests while the only speaking member of her team stands by her side smiling and encouraging her to go up and accept. And then just to seal the deal Ambessa promises what Caitlyn wants most "your mother will have justice". She absolutely had the choice to say no. I am not negating that. But I do think unless you are intentionally disregarding all of the other factors involved in order to demonize her it is quite clear that things were not so simple. She ultimately made the choice, but ignoring the context doesn't make you righteous. Only ignorant, unfeeling, or both.
And for all those who love rolling out the old "Caitlyn jumped at the first chance to take power and punish all of Zaun just because her mom died" speech, lets take a look at how Caitlyn is actually feeling:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I can only speak for me, but let me tell you what I see playing out in these images point by point:
Shock
Fear
Conflict
Reassurance
Nervousness
Stoic sadness
Acceptance of responsibility
A FUCKING FIFTY SOMETHING YEAR OLD CONQUERING WAR-MONGER SEEING HER DREAM COME TRUE
But! Stepping away from Caitlyn for a moment back to more of my original point. Caitlyn and Ambessa were not alone during this moment. Ambessa had instructed Salo to summon all people of prominence and power or something to that effect. Basically the people who had a say in how things go. These are the people she puppets into agreeing to Martial Law and Caitlyn as their commander. Let's take a look at these heroes:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
*Salo was there but I couldn't get a great still of him and I will give him a pass at least in the moment because Rictus was threatening him*
There were more people than this but these were the ones that I could grab in decent quality. And these were the people to make the decision. Otherwise Ambessa would not have needed them all there and gone through her whole song and dance. And I understand the argument that some of them were probably afraid due to the Noxian's doing their stomp dance, but guess what? If the adult politicians and people in power get that grace so does the college kid who recently got emotionally and mentally nuked back to the stone age.
Every single one of them let this happen. They could have stepped during it, they could have taken action after. Salo and Shoola were on the council with Cassandra. They both watch her daughter get served up on a plate to Ambessa so everyone can go about their lives feeling safer and pretending its all handled. There were enforcers there more than twice Caitlyn's age. Someone there was a position of leadership at some level. Not a single damn one made a move? Questioned? An assembly of probably between 30-50 people made up of Piltover's elite all bury their heads in the sand and let the grieving, inexperienced, young, recently returned from violent conflict college kid take the heat so they can go back to easy street and blame someone else if things go wrong.
AWARD FOR SPECTACULAR FAILURE:
Tumblr media
We of course cannot touch on the prominent people of Piltover who might as well have spartan kicked Caitlyn into Ambessa's open maw without talking about Tobias. Listen, Anyone who has been following me for any length of time has seen my relentless attempts to get people to recognize the importance of understanding how grief and loss hits people. This man lost his wife. His entire world got turned upside down. And I don't deny that at a point even if he had stepped in Caitlyn may have shut him down as she became the leader of house Kiramman anyway. But he does.... nothing... Part of this probably just comes down to the decision by the writers for him to kind of vanish but we see him defending her efforts to help early on and then when she has so clearly lost her way we get nothing from him.
Martial Law:
Tumblr media
So as I said, I have been through all of this in detail. Not doing it again. But since we are talking about it what did Caitlyn actually do?
Establish Checkpoints and take martial control of Zaun.
Arrest people who violated the law.
.............
Tumblr media
Piltover elite willingly agree to Martial Law
Piltover elite agree to Caitlyn being made leader
Zaun falls under Piltover jurisdiction regardless of Martial Law or not
Somewhere in Zaun is a dangerous terrorist guilty of multiple political assassinations, the deaths of several enforcers, tremendous destruction of property, multiple attempts to murder Caitlyn herself, and violent abduction of Caitlyn who at the time was a councilor's daughter from her own home.
Zaunite fighters conduct devastating attack on memorial service in what is supposed to be a secure location. Jinx would almost certainly be suspected of involvement but even if not once again the threat comes from Zaun.
The leader they chose, who is the leader because of the martial law they agreed to, places Zaun under occupation until this clear and unquestionable threat to public safety is located. She challenges unlawful arrests, unnecessary violence, bans the use of the worst cells in Stillwater she found Vi in, and has no part in Ambessa's secret experiments and brutality in the bowels of the prison.
None of this is to say that Caitlyn did not make mistakes, did not lose herself to her rage and hate, or does not share in the blame to a degree for the suffering Ambessa caused. I think it is fair to say that Caitlyn, much like those who failed her so spectacularly, looked away from the truth because it was easier to do so at first. And that is not even factoring the massive manipulation of Ambessa upon Caitlyn during this time to keep the occupation going while she continues to try and crack hex-tech, and attempting to control Caitlyn and bend her to her will.
But the idea of the people who all turned away while Caitlyn was made Ambessa's scapegoat so they could sleep peacefully at night condemning her from on high is both disgusting, and sadly all too believable. They have already proved their cowardice and stupidity. And it would be the final betrayal of someone who wanted above all else to protect her people to subject her to some sort of tribunal/punishment in the wake of surviving her cities complete abandonment of her. Especially considering her massive life-changing injuries sustained in the defense of humanity itself while setting things right.
Regarding Zaun:
The people of Zaun are for obvious reasons another matter. There is the larger picture ongoing oppression of Zaun by Piltover to consider, and even considering all the above factors the people of Zaun:
A- Would not have any way to know how much of part Ambessa played behind the scenes until someone made it all public
B- Were the ones who actually suffered during the occupation that Caitlyn did authorize regardless of reasoning.
And just like above, I am not saying Caitlyn does not share in the blame for what occurred. While everything she did was within her scope of authority, an authority lawfully granted to her, and in response to a very legitimate threat to Piltover's safety, it does not change the fact that people imprisoned during the occupation were potentially subjected to Ambessa's brutality. Never mind the day-to-day brutality enacted by Rictus and his men.
But again there are other factors that need to be considered before constructing the gallows:
Piltover's oppression of Zaun is unquestionable. But neither is Piltover's current legal jurisdiction over Zaun. Every action Caitlyn took and was knowledgeable of was completely legal, no matter how wrong you find the law.
The Grey- I am absolutely not doing my whole breakdown again. But through the use of the grey they helped take down Shimmer and the Chem-Barons, which were both enormous threats to the under city. And while it uncomfortable and clearly dangerous when exposed over long periods of time, there is absolutely no evidence of it being dangerous from short term exposure how Caitlyn used it.
And of course, the biggest factor: JINX.
Tumblr media
I'll make all of you a deal. Caitlyn gets a noose if Jinx hops up next to her. I love Jinx but it serves no purpose to pretend she's an angel. Jinx is the one who kicks all of this off to begin with. It is because of her that Piltover retaliation is guaranteed, because of her Caitlyn's entire life so violently and radically changes course. And let's be clear here, before you start with all that Jinx was striking out against the oppressors who had ruined her peoples lives in the name of justice and blah blah blah. Nope. Know how I know that? She hid during the entire occupation until Isha got taken. She wasn't speaking truth to power in the name of her people. She was a mentally ill child lashing out at a symbol of her rage in a moment of extraordinary grief and pain. And regarding her hiding by the way, I applauded her for it. Getting away from all of that shit is how she started to get better. As far as I'm concerned I would have cheered to see she and Isha leave that temple fight, board an airship, and head off for adventures far away from Piltover and Zaun forever (Same for Caitlyn and Vi but that's a different document).
So all that said, while Caitlyn certainly has a debt to the people of Zaun, we need to take care not to wrap that up with the debt Piltover owes to Zaun.
Caitlyn is not to blame for the entire history of the two cities. She only played a part in this series of events. And it would be dishonest not to admit that it was a Zaunite that started in the first place, the same Zaunite who changed Caitlyn's life forever through her violence and terrorism. And that the same woman who manipulated Zaunite warriors into attacking Piltover to help kick the war off manipulated Caitlyn herself.
If Silco's mad daughter can become their symbol of hope, and his most trusted lieutenant can become their first councilor, perhaps the people of Zaun can find mercy in their heart for a young woman who recently almost gave her life to make things right. Not to mention her families seat on the council.
Tumblr media
Anyway. You have all heard most of this from me before in some form or fashion. So I apologize for that. And again I really am not coming for fan-fiction. I would be the ULTIMATE hypocrite given my recent small efforts. The particular story that got my attention just made me think about it, and then realize it would be sickeningly true to form for the Piltover elite to try and turn on Caitlyn when it was all said and done when they abandoned her the first time. And spawned into this. Thank you for reading.
Have a great day!

Omg hi!!! I love your mer!reader series and I was wondering if you take request? If so could you do batfamily headcanons in squid game? (You don't have to of course.) I just finished season 2 and im really excited for season 3.
Love you and keep writing❤️
Hi there! I can sure try!!! I only ever saw season 1 and that was like two years ago but I'll do my best!
( This is operating off the assumption that they are not all in the game together, otherwise they'd all make it out very easily. )
Tumblr media
BRUCE WAYNE:
He's killing it. Not literally — moral code and all — but he's crushing this competition. Bruce Wayne's picture is in the dictionary when you look up "Strategist." He got into the games voluntarily and he will get back out alive, no question. He's doing what he can to help other players survive, but he didn't go in as Batman so he doesn't have any of the gear to help as effectively as he could've. He's gotta play it creatively and in a way that doesn't get him or anybody else disqualified for cheating. It doesn't take long for him to find any loop holes in game rules that allow for multiple people to get out of it alive.
Bruce entered the games, not for money, but to find out who is behind them and bring them to justice, so that no other financially disparaged people have to consider putting their lives on the line in order to clear their debts and start fresh.
DICK GRAYSON:
I feel like he didn't end up here on purpose. I really think he either signed up for something and thought it was a silly lil competition, or that the organizers of the game kidnapped the wrong guy and Dick just went with it because he had nothing better to do. Either way, he's here, he's intrigued, and he's gonna save everybody he can while keeping your spirits up.
The jokes never stop. He never stops. Motormouth is what the other contestants end up calling him. Dick makes one of the masked guards snicker once before they get whisked away, and that does make him feel quite a bit bad. Dick's not immediately looking to destroy the system from the inside out (he'll come back and do that after the games are over). Instead, I think his goal would be to convince all the surviving players that they should vote to end the games and go back home. He'd try to be their voice of reason, to convince them that there are better ways to pick themselves up and rebuild their lives than risking death just to get some fast cash. And I think it works.
TIM DRAKE:
Tim is the opposite of Dick. He was not invited to play but he did deliberately steal another contestant's spot to get put into the game. Like Bruce, he's already out-logic'd most of the competitions to create the most amount of survivors, but he also came prepared. The deadliest competitions are suddenly sabotaged not to be as deadly, or not to work at all. Hidden weapons being offered to other players to start a riot and dwindle the numbers have all suddenly been replaced with soft foam bats and nerf guns.
He already knows who's behind the whole thing, he just needed an in so he could tear it all down quickly and cleanly. When Tim is done, he'll be missing for 48 hours at the absolute max, and leaving that place with justice done and a huge, smug smirk on his face. What, like it was hard?
DAMIAN WAYNE:
Damian is tough. I think he caught wind of the whole operation and went undercover as one of those masked game monitors/referees so he could also dismantle it from within, but with less computer hacking and sabotage, and more slashing. I think this method works best as early Damian, who has barely been introduced to his dad for like a week, before he just drops off the face of the planet for a couple days and comes back blood-soaked.
"Hello, father. That suspicious money scheme you had your eyes on? I solved the problem. What do you mean, what am I covered in? Would you believe me if I told you it was ketchup? By the way, your No Killing rule is stupid."
JASON TODD:
Post-resurrection, he's not doing anything with any subtlety. At least Damian took the time to work his way in with a disguise. Red Hood is finding out where the whole shindig is taking place, gathering a crew, kicking doors down, and setting it ablaze. He doesn't have time for games, and the longer he waits to act the more innocent people are dying. He shoots the giant money ball down and lets the players collect it freely, tells them how to leave, and peaces out without looking back. In and out, job done, on to the next one.

-Linked Universe Headcanons!-
I am in LOVE with Linked Universe by @linkeduniverse literally so creative and fun! And the art is amazing! So ima do a little series (among all my creepypasta, marble hornets, and pastamonsters content lmao) of the sillies!
_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_
If the Links (including Ravio) were an indie/cozy video game, which would they be?
<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3
Time: House Flipper
Time would love House Flipper hands down! It’s a chill game with only a few hints at lore, not story driven, or heavily goal driven, he can do what he wants at his own pace. He enjoys the slow feeling of putting details into a freshly refurbished house, the satisfaction of matching together floors and walls (while ignoring what the buyers actually want), and seeing trashed houses he gets to fix! (You will not catch him playing haunted mode, it messes with his tranquility and it always glitches out and makes him rage quit lol).
-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-
Twilight: Night In The Woods
Night In The Woods is the definition of story driven gaming, but it isn’t completely linear. You always end up at the same ending, (generally? There are different endings, but it’s only really based on dialogue I’m pretty sure?), but you cannot see everything the game has to offer through one play-through, and Twilight loves that he can replay a few times and still find something new. Twilight loves the vibes of the game, the spooky feelings, the mini games, the jokes. He just loves the art style and how every character’s dialogue sounds real, like something he could imagine a real person actually saying. (Greg is also his favorite).
-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-
Warriors: Hollow Knight
Warriors would love the challenge of Hollow Knight, it’s a difficult game where you have to find out a lot of things on your own, and he feels even smarter when he figures out a hard puzzle or beats a particularly hard boss. He loves the art and how dark and gloomy everything is, learning the lore, and gets unreasonably attached to all the bugs in the old town as they take refuge. He would totally be one of those people who thinks he’s better than you because he beat the game and you didn’t, but it’s all in good fun.
-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-
Wild: Untitled Goose Game
This one is basically self explanatory. Wild doesn’t want to solve problems and make people happy while playing video games, he wants to cause CHAOS. No one can stop him from stealing, destroying, inconveniencing, and he loves everything he can do and get away with. He loves putting the goose in little outfits, but also loves when the goose is holding the knife in their beak! This game is basically letting Wild get all of this out of his system so he doesn’t act like the goose in real life.
-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-
Legend: Stardew Valley
Legend acts like a hard ass and tells people he plays impossibly hard games with terrifying graphics and horrible boss fights. Then you look over his shoulder and he’s playing Stardew Valley. He loves the methodical systems you can set up; get up, pet his cat Peewee, put water in his bowl, feed and pet the chickens, grab eggs, etc. He likes making it repetitive and keeping order, earning money and growing his farm slowly over time. He ends up living with Krobus, but dates Sebastian. (Reminds him of someone he knows.) He also hoards everything.
-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-
Sky: Miitopia
Sky really wanted Tomadachi Life 2, but settled for Miitopia. He really likes the customization and story line, and also made the entire chain into Mii’s to fill out the characters in the story. Sky made his Zelda to be the princess, but would deny it if anyone asked. He purposefully moves the roles around if someone in the chain makes him angry or does something stupid. Thinks the fighting mechanics are repetitive, but loves the developing relationship aspect and the little outings the characters can go on.
-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-
Hyrule: What Remains of Edith Finch
To me, Hyrule seems like a pretty melancholy guy. He’s more serious and has this sense of sadness radiating around him, not saying he’s 100% sad all the time! More like he’s experienced a lot. What Remains of Edith Finch is a story driven walking game where you explore the old home of the last member of the Finch family, Edith. Hyrule loves the time consuming process and the slow build to the climax of the game. He loves to learn about everything he can, taking the time to experience the game in its entirety, and figuring out the deeper meanings and lore behind everything.
-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-
Four: Unpacking
Four takes himself very seriously, but the Minish in him cannot pass up on a game about organization and putting together a personalized space. (More headcanons about the Minish in a different post!) Four plays the game in less than twelve hours, gets all the secret stickers, and cries at the end of the game and its ending credits song. My guy literally sobs his eyes out and you cannot convince me otherwise. Four really loves all the little details, like when the purple cup becomes a tooth brush holder after being broken, and all the traveling souvenirs that show up every time there’s a new level. The game is bright, colorful, and a chill experience he can take at his own pace.
-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-
Wind: Wandersong
Wind is here for long ass games with tons of people to talk to, quests, and things to unlock and see. Wind loves music and puzzle games, so this is the perfect fit for him! He never messes up a note and always picks the nicest conversation option, he also learns all the dances and uses them constantly. After the game was finished (after crying like Four did at the ending sequence) he made the mask of the guy who teaches you all the dances! He also learns a bunch of the songs to play in the wind, confusing the locals.
-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-
Ravio: Minecraft
My precious merchant man. He uses Minecraft as a trade and selling kind of game, after he gets basics and decent tools and food. My man sets up farms. Iron farms, villager farms, water, lava, wheat, literally everything. He grinds in the caves for hours, collecting all the resources he needs to live a comfortable Minecraft life and build his own kingdom. He makes everyone in the chain a home, including himself (the biggest one ofc). Builds a beautiful village, a magical pond, downloads a million mods, he makes Minecraft a whole different experience.
-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-
That’s it for now! I hope you liked my opinions on the sillies!

I really enjoyed the sorting questions that you went through for the golden trio + draco. What do you think Voldemort's would look like? I can see him as a slytherin with a gryffindor runner-up as an inverse to Harry's.
Thank you! Glad you liked my sorting method (I actually use it when making OCs for non-HP projects too since it's a useful character breakdown).
Previously on this series:
1. How I sort characters and how the Golden Trio are all Gryffindors for different reasons
2. Draco Malfoy is a Slytherin with very few Slytherin traits
Now, onto Tom Riddle Jr. I can definitely see him as a Slytherin with a Gryffindor runner-up. It's kind of how I always saw him, but let's break it down:
I will add that most of what I'm saying here would make more sense if you knew how I see TMR/Voldemort and I have a whole masterpost for Tom Riddle essays here since I'm not delving too deeply into the evidence and analysis in this post, which is more of an overview.
1. Problem Solving - what is the go-to method of said character to solve problems in a situation that isn't a life-and-death threat. Both without a time limit and on a time crunch.
So, when Tommy has time to plan, he organizes a show. He's dramatic, over the top, and meticulous. He 100% practiced saying "the boy who lived, come to die" before Harry heard it. He studied for his exams, he experiments, he researches. This guy is a dedicated Ravenclaw when he has the time and means.
The Infri cave with the locket is something this nerd felt proud of making. It's kind of an escape room if you think about it. You gotta solve the magical riddles to get through.
He likes inventing his own potion of despair, making up all the wards and spells on the boat and the curse he placed on the ring was probably of his making too. Point is, he's creative, dedicated, and goes about it with an academic air.
So that's a point for Ravenclaw.
I will note though, that Tom cares about how things are done. He doesn't like unnecessary death. He needs to defeat Harry in a proper duel and not just poison him like a Slytherin would. Even when he has all the time in the world to plan, Tom's methods will be ones he considers "the right way" to go about something — which is a point to Gryffindor.
When on a time crunch, he is bold and rash. He makes extreme choices quickly and on the spur of the moment. Like, "oh, Myrtel accidentally died, no matter, I'll try out this new Horcrux spell I found before anyone finds out". His idea to frame Hagrid was also spur of the moment. He didn't actually think it through and in retrospect, he thought it was stupid and he couldn't believe anyone believed him:
but I admit, even / was surprised how well the plan worked. I thought someone must realize that Hagrid couldn’t possibly be the Heir of Slytherin. It had taken me five whole years to find out everything I could about the Chamber of Secrets and discover the secret entrance ... as though Hagrid had the brains, or the power!
(CoS)
But it was the choice he made when he had no time to think things through and was acting on impulse. Tom, isn't cunning when he doesn't have the time to plan, but he definitely makes bold moves and fast.
So that's another point to Gryffindor.
2. Problem-solving under threat of death - when the situation gets really dangerous, how do they deal with it?
We don't see Tom honestly scared often, but when he knows the game is up at the end of book 7, when his Death Eaters are dying and Harry tells him he's the master of the Elder Wand, what does Tom do?
He attacks.
He is unwilling to show he is defeated. He stands proud and brave. He doesn't even try to think of a cunning solution or a way out. He doesn't try to run away (even though he could've apparated away! I mean he could break the anti-apparition wards on the ministry) he stays and fights to his death.
So this is another point to Gryffindor.
Though, I'll give him his first Slytherin point for pride and not being willing to show weakness ever.
3. What they aspire for - what do they want to accomplish for themselves. Be it an ambition towards a job or something they want to just be better at.
Here Tom gets another Slytherin point.
Tom wants to be revered. He wants to be praised and looked up to. He wants to be the greatest. The best. At everything. He wants to be known, he wants a legacy, he wants to never die.
He wants to never be poor, helpless, forgotten orphan Tom Riddle ever again.
He has so many ambitions, he wants a lot and works towards all of it. He is honestly kinda greedy in the way he wants it all.
4. Motivations - why do they do the things they do? What gets them up in the morning?
Arrogance and spite.
Tom wants everything he wants becouse he honestly thinks he is better and greater than basically everyone else. He sees very few people as close to equal to him, be they muggles or wizards. He considers himself the best. Very Slytherin pride, on his part.
And he's petty and spiteful. He likes to say about himself how merciful and above mundane pettiness he is, but he actually isn't. He's lying to himself.
I mean, he dislikes Peter, so he forces him to essentially be Snape's servant. He wants to humiliate the Malfoys because Lucius disappointed him and he is so petty about it every second he sits over Lucius' head in his own manor and humiliates him and his family. Tom is obsessed with Harry because Harry is that one taint on his otherwise perfect record. And Tom Riddle doesn't do grades below an O. He can't fail.
He is an arrogant and spiteful perfectionist. This drive and ambition to perfection in everything he does gives him a point for Slytherin.
5. Defining trait - if you need to choose one trait to define them, what would it be?
Self-hatred.
I know it sounds weird, I mean, this is Voldemort, super proud dark lord who has people bow down to him, how can this be his most defining trait?
Well, it's becouse it's at the core of everything that makes him him. It's why he became a dark lord, in a way.
Why is Tom as spiteful as he is and strives for greatness and perfection as he does? Becouse he wants to be known. He wants validation and praise. He wants other people to see him as great.
This need for validation and praise is a Slytherin point. But there is more to that.
When I say self-hatred, I mean it. For all of Tom's supposed fixation on never dying, he actually has very little self-preservation. He tears up his own soul in experimental rituals to make Horcruxes. He keeps endangering himself in battle because of his arrogance, yes, but also because he really doesn't mind putting himself in a lot of risk. When he wants things done (killing the Potters, facing Harry & Dumbledore in the DoM, chasing after the elder Wand in Germany) he does it himself, danger be damned.
Yes, he thinks everyone else is beneath him, but he doesn't think that highly of himself either. This leads nicely into the next question and a point to Gryffindor for his surprising lack of self-preservation instincts.
6. Valued trait - if they had to pick their favorite trait about themselves, what would they pick?
Intelligence/skill.
Remember what I said about Tom not thinking that highly of himself? Yeah, well, he sees his own intelligence and skill (the only stuff he ever got praise and attention for) as the only aspects of himself of value. He never really appreciated his own personality traits (even though you could say something about his determination or resilience, but he doesn't really care for it that much. I think he doesn't fully consciously think of his own traits this way, really). He doesn't actually like his looks all that much either and was glad to shed them for an inhuman appearance to show how much more he is than everyone else.
But he does truly appreciate his own intelligence and skill in magic above all else.
Which gives another point to Ravenclaw.
7. Values - what traits do they completely despise in others? What traits do they appreciate in others?
He despises traitorous cowards.
Think how he treats Wormtail — he derides the fact he betrayed James and Lily even though it helped him. He hates his sniveling and cowardice. He appreciates bravery and boldness and above all loyalty.
So, that's another Gryffindor point.
He also appreciates skill, cleverness, and cunning in others.
There's a reason he likes Snape as much as he does. Snape is ambitious, talented, intelligent, and clever. Tom likes clever people and he dislikes stupidity.
So, that's another Ravenclaw point.
8. And finally, which house do they want?
I'm not sure how many notions Tom came to Hogwarts with, when he sat on that stole with the sorting hat on his head, which house did he want to go to?
I think it was Slytherin.
Not just becouse Dumbledore was the head of Gryffindor, but because of what the hat probably told him. I mean, the hat told Harry this about Slytherin:
“Not Slytherin, eh?” said the small voice. “Are you sure? You could be great, you know, it’s all here in your head, and Slytherin will help you on the way to greatness, no doubt about that
(PS)
And little Tom wants to be great, he wants to be known and praised (Even the older Tom wants these things, if, he isn't as desperate). He wants to live up to what Ollivanders said about his want:
“Yes, thirteen-and-a-half inches. Yew. Curious indeed how these things happen. The wand chooses the wizard, remember. ... I think we must expect great things from you, Mr. Potter. ... After all, He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named did great things — terrible, yes, but great.”
(PS)
And if Slytherin is the path to greatness, that's where he'd want to go. And that ambition, choosing a house for his ambition and desire for glory, that is a point for Slytherin.
Tallying up the points:
G - 5, S - 5, H - 0, R - 3
So this actually gives us a Slytherin and Gryffindor hat stall for Tom. So, yeah.
As a refresher to my other sortings from my former posts for comparison:
Harry: G - 5, S - 4, H - 3, R - 0 (Gryffindor with Slytherin runner-up)
Hermione: G - 9, S - 2, H - 0, R - 1 (True Gryffindor)
Ron: G - 6, S - 4, H - 1, R - 1 (Gryffindor with Slytherin tendencies)
Draco: G - 3, S - 5, H - 3, R - 0 (Slytherin (The hat did make the call instantly))
I honestly found this one interesting to do. Tom is a bit of a messy character who is very contradictory. He thinks he is the best, but he still hates most of who he is. He talks a lot about Slytherin's legacy, but he isn't exactly the epitome of cunning and his behavior is very Gryffindor-ish. I will give him ambition though, he got that down.

Tobirama Mentorship Headcanons
Tumblr media
Tags/Warnings: No Reader Pronouns
𓆃 One of those old school hard-asses who you think is going to be really hard on you, but is surprisingly patient, a great teacher, and is overall just sort of awkward.
𓆃 Out of all the mentors you could choose, Tobirama definitely isn't the popular choice. After all, Hashirama is far more charismatic (and hokage) and Madara, as standoffish as he is, offers a mysterious promise for great power.
𓆃 Tobirama is a surprising mix of technique and unexpected charisma. While more aloof and serious at first, you can count on Tobirama to simply be absolutely excellent at teaching.
𓆃 He somehow understands where the hold-ups happen and offers great advice on bypassing learning difficulties. He'll always have you try the hard technique first, making you accomplish that before he gives you the "shortcut version."
𓆃 "Do you see how much simpler making that one adjustment was?" he'll ask, knowing well his techniques work, "Compare that to the traditional method. It cuts the work in half."
𓆃 Very attached to the phrase, "Work smarter" with a great insistence that it "does not mean cutting corners!"
𓆃 Tobirama is extremely perceptive and has a large range of knowledge of different jutsu and types which he throws into mental calculations to understand where your hang-ups may be.
𓆃 He almost annoyingly leaves you to figure things out before he gives you the answer. Tobirama is trying to train you to think multi-dimensionally about your jutsu so that you can be creative in solving your own problems.
𓆃 Not only is he extremely smart, but he's great at communicating. You won't get clearer instructions from any other instructor and never makes you feel bad about asking questions.
𓆃 He takes each one seriously and puts significant thought into his answers.
𓆃 Tobirama isn't very charismatic off the bat. Instead, he has a perpetual resting angry face that makes him rather unapproachable.
𓆃 It's important to know that his expressions are subtle and are off this RBF base. He has no idea that he's making a sour, judgmental face most of the time.
𓆃 He's actually very dorky and will try to say things to relate to you, only to fail on the execution.
𓆃 From pathetic dad jokes that don't really make sense to "so... what kind of kunai do you carry?" he's not really good at socializing with his students when he's trying.
𓆃 Tobirama, however, loves pranks. He loves getting into hijinks so he'll end up being this "kind of cool mentor" by letting you into restricted areas and the like.
𓆃 He'll wear this little smirk because he's trying to act like he doesn't know what he's doing, but he loves that he's working with his students to play funnies on other people.
𓆃 Along with his awkward communication, Tobirama can frequently say very harsh things without realizing it. Being on the more "logical side," he doesn't often think about the connotations of the things he says.
𓆃 Tobirama is overall a really great choice for a mentor! While your beginning may be bumpy, you get the best of both worlds. You get to have a serious education and learn powerful new jutsu from a legendary shinobi who really treats you like family.
Thank you to all who liked, reblogged, followed, and supported. Your support means so much and is greatly appreciated.
Notes: You would not believe how hard it's been to get good Tobirama panels let me tell you—

the hogwarts houses — an analysis by cynthia
establishing the basics
important to remember throughout reading: there will ALWAYS be anomalies in all houses!! no one can be the perfect representation of a house because we're all humans which means we're a mix of anything and everything <3 this is simply how i personally see them
in harry potter, as far as i’m aware, the way the sorting hat picks what house you’re in isn’t clearly explained. a lot of people generally believe that their house is the one that matches their personality traits the most, and while in my version that is partially true, i think that there is an additional factor that plays into this
that factor is which house’s traits you value, not to be confused with which ones you particularly exhibit. you can value a gryffindor's ability to immediately act on their goals and dreams while also constantly being held back by procrastination yourself. in my opinion, this has a bit more influence on what hogwarts house you get put in than what your personality is like, simply because it explains why people like neville get into one house when they're 'so clearly suited' for another, as well as that it explains why many people seem to get into houses just because all their family members were in the same house. if you grow up around ravenclaws and view them as positive influences, its only natural for you to value ravenclaw traits the most
when deciding your hogwarts house, it is important to consider both how your own traits line up with the traits of the houses, and which house represents the traits you personally admire the most
for example: i consider myself to be a very ambitious person. i will do absolutely anything and everything to achieve my dreams, and for that, i could easily be put in slytherin. however, throughout my life, there is nothing i enjoyed and valued more than the pursuit of knowledge and creative expression. while both are core parts of who i am, my particular love for the latter (among other things you'll see later on) is what put me into ravenclaw
head vs heart houses
in my mind, the houses are divided into two groups: head houses and heart houses, with the head houses being slytherin and ravenclaw, and the heart houses being gryffindor and hufflepuff
head houses are characterised by their utilisation of their heads over their hearts. they tend to think things through more often and are very methodical, finding solace in their daily routines and rituals and constantly making to-do lists for every little thing. while that does mean that they're more on top of things and are able to stay disciplined for longer periods of time, they're also prone to procrastination due to an inability to visualise a clear path to their goals and thus being unable to actually start. they also tend to be more stubborn and opinionated, refusing to admit that they're wrong even when the evidence is right in front of them. head houses are excellent givers of advice and will gladly dish it out since their problem-solving nature means they probably thought of it before you even asked anyway
in comparison, members of heart houses tend to follow their hearts instead of their heads. they are extreme empaths and their loyalty knows no bounds, as they would do anything to protect a loved one, even if it means putting themselves in harm's way. they often don't think things through as much as they should, and while this is detrimental in some cases, it also can be the reason for their successes, since they don't have procrastination holding them back from achieving their goals the way head houses do. heart houses are also quite friendly and helpful, the exact type of people you can go to when you need a shoulder to cry on after a bad day or someone to celebrate your wins with you
note: slytherin > ravenclaw in terms of which is 'more' of a head house, hufflepuff > gryffindor in terms of which is 'more' of a heart house. spectrum from head to heart goes slytherin -> ravenclaw -> gryffindor -> hufflepuff. the two in the middle (gryffindor & ravenclaw) therefore fluctuate more than the two on the opposite sides of the spectrum (slytherin & hufflepuff)
a deep dive into the houses
slytherin: ambitious. cunning. can slip through any situation like water. will go to extreme lengths for the sake of their goals ("if there is a will, there is a way"). prefer to stick to their established groups. surprisingly good at both platonic and romantic matchmaking considering said lack of branching out. charismatic. make excellent event planners. see things exactly as they are and are rarely phased by this ("that's just how life is" mentality). value power and usually do have a powerful aura, even if they don't particularly see it themselves. are often 'naturals' at many things ("slytherin can help you on the path to greatness"). resourceful. extremely protective of their own. secretive and can keep other people's secrets very well. do want to be liked deep down, no matter how many times they deny it. pros at networking (slytherins are the #1 linkedin warriors trust)
ravenclaw: intelligent. imaginative. lovers of any and all knowledge, but have particular fields they're interested in. open-minded and rarely ever judgemental. creative. listen and analyse everything. extremely good at thinking outside of the box. eccentric and unafraid to be themselves. embrace people’s differences with ease. dreamers. quick learners. hate feeling ‘stuck’ but can be quite prone to it. have a knack for storytelling. extreme perfectionists. love defying stereotypes and proving people wrong. often quiet and private as they don’t see a need to publicly advertise everything they do (the type of friend you discover has a sibling after three years of friendship). some are hopeless romantics. bookworms. will do anything for praise and validation (but lowkey). nostalgic. you can tell they’ve been through multiple lives (“old souls”). very understanding.
gryffindor: brave. love with their entire being (fell first and harder trope). will do anything for praise and validation (but highkey). can be a little jealous sometimes. infectious spirit (if they’re happy you’re happy, if they’re sad you’re sad). fill up a room when they’re in it. don’t know how they’ll get things done but they get them done regardless. compassionate. quick to anger but also equally quick to forgive. tendency to help even if they know nothing about what they’re helping with (stems from a want to be needed). will always fight for what they think is right. love to mingle with people from other houses. protect those who cannot protect themselves. young at heart. determined. some have particularly large egos (the one quote that goes james had an ego the size of the great lake but a heart to match it). hate complaining and prefer to find solutions to their problems instead.
hufflepuff: kind. grounded in their emotions and who they are. dislike change. very hard working. indecisive. patient. value honesty and trust (gaining their trust takes work, and losing it means you’ll never get it back). don’t sugarcoat things for others (better to deal with the hard truth than live a lie). extreme hobbyists. love making themselves busy, hate sitting idly doing nothing. will seek justice on their and your own behalf. very good wing(wo)men. fiercely loyal (can result in them being very biased against the opposing side). bad at planning surprises. have the strongest moral compass (hence so many of them staying behind during the battle of hogwarts). humble. can be a little naive sometimes. tend to easily overwork themselves. really good physical and emotional healers. a lot are social butterflies.

What do you think Queenie was like when she was around? What do you think about the HC of her potentially being on the spectrum?
i dont have a super concrete idea, but i do imagine, true to kingers word, that she was very funny and creative!!!
ive mentioned it before but i dont think she was actually an entomologist- just someone invested in it! (the only way i could see her being an entomologist is if, for some reason, c&a wanted an entomologist on board for... something? but thats a very biological field so i dont think this is the case). at most i think shed worked related jobs in the distant past, but nothing recquiring a degree in the field
despite this i do think she was just as weird as entomologists are. because theyre all weird and its great. every entomologist or person DEEPLY dedicated to entomology ive ever met has been eccentric in some way. i think she was like this. what this entails is ambiguous
(id use myself as a source but i think im closer to kinger in terms of knowledge on entomology, in that its above standard knowledge of insects but still not nearly as much as an actual entomologist has)
also i think she was bad at completely dialing down talk about insects. i think shed try but as she talks itd gradually veer right back into just her saying her own thoughts, complete with abbreviations and ento terms that no one else but her knows
she was definitely very funny and probably in like. a very goofy way. i think she was generally pretty composed but had a very lighthearted sense of humor. i think with her general like... demeanor of Knowing What Shes Doing that shed just Say Things that would catch people off guard in a very silly way
in terms of creativity, i dont imagine she was an artist (or if she was i think it was a recent skill she was learning- maybe gangle was teaching her...) but i do imagine she had a very good ability to problem-solve and generally had a really good grasp on methods of doing things. creative is the best way to put it again. she was clever!!
i do think she was probably the more grounded of the two, less jumpy and more prone to thinking about the situation the two were in (what with how kingers personality ties into his chess piece being a king, i like the idea that hers ties in too). it gave her more of a tendency to really think about it all which contributed to her abstraction :(
i dont think she waas TOOOO much more serious than kinger though... i think they were both huge goofballs and it was sweet
tbqh my idea of her is ALSO influenced by my favorite tadc fic that i read a few weeks back and am still obsessed with (metamorphosis by beepborpdoodledorp!! its REALY good). i like to imagine she was like how she is in this!!!!
in terms of her being autistic i am ALWAYS a fan of interpretting characters as autistic. i looove the idea of entomology being a special interest of hers (especially bc i can certainly relate), and even w the minimal knowledge we have of her i think it works really well. i think i could come up with more elaborate details abt this other than the surface level stuff but id need to think on it more...
(i myself try to avoid hcing a character as autistic and then just making it about having special interests since thats only one facet ofc, though w the little info we have on her its one of the easiest things to point to... i would love to have more ideas for it)
though, i know its implied to be an abstraction thing but i DO like the idea that she found bright lights overstimulating. i could see her finding MOST things in the circus overstimulating. if she were around to meet pomni i think theyd be able to connect over that (considering i hc pomni as autistic too but i dont wanna derail this w rambling abt that HAHA). the humor thing may have created strange moments though since i think pomni has very little sense of humor- or at the very least, a highly specific one that is hard to hit. maybe queenie could have managed to make her laugh...
either way i REALLY like the idea. autism entomology combo WIN!!!!!
