something about the final climax of thunderbolts not being this huge, explosive battle where the villain is irredeemable and the heroes summon the power of the galaxies to stop them-
but how the final climax was quiet. the darkest shadow, a void falling over new york. it wasn't loud, there wasn't any screaming. it descended upon the city and the people didn't have a chance to react before it swallowed them whole.
how the team's battle was internal, inside their own minds, instead of a huge punchy shoot-off. (especially with this group's skill set, it was unexpected) how they all fought through the shame and guilt and their worst nightmares only to embrace each other anyway. the villain fighting against himself only to realize he is allowed to be loved, despite it all.
how they are all fucked up and have done terrible things but saved the city by holding each other tightly, so tightly that bob realizes the void isn't all he is, and light always comes again.
this movie had so much heart, it made me feel something for a team again, we are so back.

All it takes for a character to be interpreted as heterosexual is simply for the character to exist. A character can never kiss a member of the opposite gender, hook up with one, or show any signs of attraction and still be viewed as straight. Meanwhile, two members of the same gender can have the most intimate onscreen relationship, flirt, check each other out, show visible signs of being in love with the other, and somehow none of that is enough to even SUGGEST that they might be queer.
What a gross double standard. Sexuality is not “straight until proven otherwise” like so many believe it to be. Newsflash to all the straight normies out there, your favorite non labeled, sexuality unconfirmed character in your favorite show is NOT STRAIGHT just bc they haven’t been confirmed as queer. Use your fucking brains for once. It’s all about diving into media and picking up on subtext until that subtext suggests queerness. Then, suddenly, everyone loses their fucking ability to interpret a piece of media. Have you considered that: if all signs point to them being gay then maybe they actually really are just gay???

I feel like nearly once a week I see a post or tags on a post asking if the Sanders Sides fandom is dead and, my brother in fandom, it only seems dead because you're not engaging with the fandom, because almost no one engages with fandom anymore. This is what we mean when we say you need to reblog things and likes mean nothing here. If you like that art, that fic, that one off theory post, reblog it. You don't even have to add on if you don't want to, though, adding on is also important to have discussions and keep things alive, but for the love of fandom, reblog things.
I get it it's hard when there's no brand new, shiney canon to play with, but also I don't get it because I still write snippets of fiction ideas for What's New Scooby-Doo (ended in 2006) and the Star Wars prequels. I didn't write my fic A Song about Lies until several years after that episode was uploaded. I'm actively writing a fic based very loosely on the Poly Jolly Christmas short and I don't even know how long ago that was uploaded, it's not even Sides themed, but my AU is. We all collectively keep fandom alive by sharing and writing and reblogging even if it seems like no one else cares.
I've been thinking about a Captian Planet AU fic and I haven't watched the show since I was four years old, if I wanted to I'm sure I could find a fandom somewhere on Tumblr, but it's going to take work, or worst comes to worst I could just start posting without a fandom and hope people would find me. But the Captain Planet fandom isn't dead, because I'm here, because I still love the show.
Fandom isn't a stand alone entity, it is made entirely of the people who love it. Fandom isn't dead, you're just not engaging in it.

Are Jason Todd stans really out here cribbing about Dick and Damian content ? Are you fr right now ? Just saw someone say they "hate how Dick treats Jason" with reference to Dick attempting to adopt Jason in his original origin story. Dick has NEVER mistreated Jason during his Robin days. In fact, Dick NEVER mistreats Jason even after Jason -
(a) attempted to kill Tim in Titans Tower
(b) attempted to kill Tim and Damian during Battle for the Cowl
(c) actually killed people wearing the Nightwing suit leading to the city and police thinking their hero Nightwing had turned evil
(d) attempted to forcibly unclothe Dick and a minor Damian in front of cameras.
Please Jason Todd stans. Your singular fixation on a fictional character is understandable. Even sympathetic. But don't try to INVENT negative stories about other characters just to make your uwu fav the best there is. That's just plain whining and it is entirely pathetic to watch that breakdown.
Do you know why so many folks Dick and Damian's relationship? I can take it or leave it Damian but whose heart didn't fill up with fondness when Dick returned from Spyral and received THAT welcome hug from Damian? What did Jason do? Punch Dick. Remember, this was after Jason had laughed mockingly at Dick's funeral (in the scrapped issue that was replaced with Nightwing #30). Remember, there is precedence to such behaviour from Jason. When Talia and Deathstroke got Chemo dropped on Bludhaven with Nightwing in the city, Jason was confronting Batman. At Batman's dismayed expression at Chemo's touchdown, Jason mocked Bruce with the loss of Dick.
So please can it with the "how could Dick mistreat Damian?" because some folks wrote fics on Dick and Damian but not Dick and Jason. Maybe if Jason hadn't been so committed to being a murderer and a serial killer? Who knows then.
But then again, imagine being jealous of a child who discarded so much of his lifetime learnings and embraced the philosophy of compassion and empathy that Dick endeavours to follow every day and set as an example for his younger teammates.

"Isn't it weird that these 2 completely different characters canonically exist in the same universe?"
No not really.
You, me, Kendrick Lamar, Jaiden Animations, Weird Al, Lynda Carter, Scott The Woz and Sigourney Weaver all exist in the same universe and it's no big deal.

I’m gonna explode if I hear one more person talk about the theory that Raven and Apple were switched at birth. It makes no sense. Literally the only thing is that Raven has black hair and Apple is self centered. The evil queen and the king have black hair and they’re her parents so she has black hair. And yall must’ve not paid attention to the way Snow White was talking to Apple that made it obvious that the reason Apple was only concerned for herself was because of how she was raised. It also didn’t help that they were all told they’d literally die if they didn’t follow their story.
Also Raven literally has magic and Apple doesn’t. Also in the books Raven literally avoids mirrors because she looks so much like her mother.

Rick Riordan always villainises the most random characters ever and it's so stupid to me
Why would Hera, queen of the gods, protector of women, send a cow to shit on a teenage girl? What would she gain from that?
Why would Dionysus, the god of festivity, madness, ecstasy and theatre be an angry alcoholic? Why would he bully kids?? Rick was probably trying to make a point about how bad alcoholism is but he rlly didn't show that
Why would Hebe, goddess of youth and old age, curse people into turning into children? Why would you not at least google what she's the god of before putting her in the book??
All the gods are such complex characters but he just picks a few and decides to use one of their traits to form a whole new personality.
And then he'll glorify other equally random gods. Poseidon? He made him dear old dad, a harmless fisherman that wants to see his kid but is sadly not allowed to.
Poseidon in actual mythology has assaulted just as many people as Zeus, and he was one of the most feared gods because of his tendency to randomly hurt mortals and destroy entire cities
And then there are gods that should've been plot relevant but weren't. Because they weren't connected to his favorite characters
It's not just the gods though. It's easier for me to notice with them because they have existing characterisation outside of pjo but there is obvious bias towards other mortal characters.
The treatment of Luke vs Octavian specifically. Luke was a 26 year old man that was literally trying to destroy all of humanity. He literally enjoys hurting 13 year old Percy. And Octavian? He was a bit annoying? He cut up a teddy bear? And he's villainised so much for that. While Luke was able to go to elysium and never be hated by the main characters, Octavian was fired out of a canon and insulted constantly.
And remember Octavian always thought he was doing the right thing. He thought Apollo was supporting him, he thought the Greeks had already started a war (we know Leo was controlled, he never did). He thought his camp was under attack and took charge when their leader refused to (never giving him a real reason other than 'no that's bad')
I have many other thoughts but I cba to type more rn. Feel free to ask about other characters you think Rick did dirty. I'll probably agree and I'll yap about them too

“Just because it’s Greek mythology doesn’t mean you can ship nasty things!”
Actually it does. Greek mythology is FULL of “nasty” relationships, incest, sex crimes and everything else but we’re chill with it because it’s well…mythology. In the same manner that you SHOULD be relatively chill with fictional stuff because that is also imaginary. Like the source material itself is worse lmao, it’s wild when a Greek mythos-based fandom ends up attracting so many easily offended and vanilla folk.

Actually, I'm a bit surprised by the common belief that fandom is something "cringy," an unserious hobby and something childish to be ashamed of. Adult people don’t join fandoms. People who are happy with their lives don’t get interested in fandom!
And this is bs.
A hobby doesn’t have to be serious. And many fanfics are written better than published books. How much more "seriousness" you need? 😁 Fandom as a hobby is no worse than reading art books on weekends, being into music, hiking or partying.
There’s nothing "cringy" about fandom. Fandom is fckn amazing. At any age. If someone outside fandoms thinks otherwise, they just don't get it, so it doesn’t matter what they think. But to think like that inside — come on, people, stop it.

taissa haters are actually the bane of my existence because half of them don’t even have a good reason to hate on her.
“she’s such a bitch” oh my fucking god she’s a strong minded and intelligent woman who takes a more realistic approach to the wilderness and doesn’t exactly believe that there actually is something paranormal going on and it scares her that there might be, so she’s quick to shoot down people who do think that there is something there. she’s a complicated character (LIKE ALL OF THEM ARE) not a bitch.
some people argue that they don’t like her bc she neglected her family and cheated on her spouse but then they love shauna??? like let’s not be hypocritical here because shauna cheated on jeff and also isn’t really the best mother to callie until later in the show (but even then she’s not perfect) so it’s like you’re taking two people who committed the same crime and giving them two different punishments MAKE IT MAKE SENSEEEEEE
but also the thing is for me, and i understand if this is different for others, but this show literally contains girls hunting and murdering their friends so they can eat them and you draw the line at cheating??? 😭

my favourite part of agatha all along is how fucking unserious this show is. the gen z dialogue, the unique, iconic characters all carrying their own baggage, them all being at each other's throats at any given moment, the amount of gay.
it turns any slightly horror plot into something sheerly comedic in a matter of seconds due to the characters being their bratty selfish incredible selves. like, agatha is on the CEILING, her limbs twisted and demonically screeching, and the first thing jen says is 'she's faking it'.
i cackled.
seriously, this is literally legends of tomorrow. queer ragtag team with unique powers/personalities, with fantastical witchy plots and can change their tone from campy to horrific in a matter of seconds. i love it. i love it so much. 10/10. also i think rio and agatha should kiss.

THE SUN AND MOON SHOW IS FOUND FAMILY
STOP SAYING THEYRE “ADOPTED” BECAUSE THATS NOT HOW FOUND FAMILY WORKS
THEY ARE A FRIEND GROUP THAT USES FAMILIAL TITLES
Everyone says that *I’m* invalidating adoptive families when I bring this up
But I’m adopted
And I find this extremely fucking offensive
Adoption is deeply personal, and you don’t just toss around family terms Willy nilly like they do in the show when you’re adopted
They are not an adopted family. It’s fine if you headcanon it, but it’s not canon. They’re a friend group
A friend group
That uses family terms
THE VAS EXPLAINED THIS TO US FOR FUCKS SAKE

I’ve had a number of posts on my dash lately going “but did you know Jaster Mereel was a merc who killed people.” I’m more amused than annoyed, but I think this reads enough like a rant that I’m making this its own post rather than a reply to someone else’s. That being said…
Yes. I did in fact know this about one my favourite characters.
How is this any different than the faction of the fandom who simp after Darth Maul? Are they are unaware that Maul is a bad guy? Does it lessen their enjoyment of the character, or could it be that it’s an essential part of their enjoyment even?
Personally, the thing that makes this character intriguing to me is precisely the dichotomy between how he’s portrayed in the comics and also described as a honourable and pious person. There’s a pretty big gap between the reality or mercenary work and honour as we know it on Earth. So that raises all kinds of interesting questions: how would that even work? Or perhaps: what does that tell us about Mandalorian morality? And I find stories (and fanfics) that explore these questions compelling.
Similarly, the story where Jaster Mereel with his mercenary morals rules, is a more entertaining story to me than the story where Satine Kryze and her pacifism rules. Under whose rule would I rather live in real life? Kryze’s, of course. But this is not real life. Mandalore is a fictional place. Absolutely no one is hurt, if they are ruled by a bad guy.
Mandalore’s entire purpose as a fictional place is to create stories and do what stores do, whether that’s entertain, educate, engage or provoke readers. And I happen to think that stories with conflict are more entertaining. The story where Palpatine rules is a better story than the story where Bail Organa rules.
tldr: it’s not a bug, it’s a feature. Mereel is a fictional character, not a real person, so I score my enjoyment and what’s “good” by the metric of what makes a good story, not what I would like to happen in real life. Is Mereel a good person? Debatable. Is he a good character? To me, yes.
I feel like the fans who treat fictional characters like real people, are always going to be disappointed by the segment of fandom who don’t.
Not to say Mereel and Palpatine or Darth Maul are comparable (Mereel is more of a morally grey character whereas Palpatine and Maul are portrayed as simply evil). These are just exaggerated examples to illustrate my point. I’m similarly giving Kryze’s rule a generous interpretation to show my point does not depend on the relative morality of the characters.

Something I'm not sure I'll ever understand about fandom, especially comic book fandom, debates, is debates like the 'is Bruce Wayne a good parent' debate. And I am genuinely looking for an explanation and/or another perspective here.
Because the answer, to me, at least, is yes and no specifically because he is a fictional character.
Because, to me (I wish to specify that this is all my opinion and you could think way differently about this), characters do not essentially have to do what is best, they have to do what is interesting, and because comics are so wide and are contributed to by so many different writers, the idea of what is interesting can vary wildly.
So, yes, Bruce Wayne is a good parent in the comics where that is the most interesting choice. And no, he is not a good parent in the comics where that is the most interesting choice.
The fun thing about comics to me has always been being able to look at the wide array of events and characterizations and just picking what I like the most out of it. And what I like the most changes based on the context of the story surrounding them.
I see a lot of posts that are like "I don't like X character because they did this action in this specific comic" which is completely fair, but also I've always been of the opinion that comic lore is so wide (and, let's be honest, inconsistent) that you can hold multiple true things about a character at once because they are fictional. I just always find it weird when posts come across, again specifically to me, as blaming the character for the choices made for one story by one writer (or even a series of writers), when a bunch of other writers have written said character in a different way, and you can just decide which way you like best, and which way you like best can 100% change with the situation that character is in.
I hope I'm making sense? And maybe I'm completely making this up, who knows
