How hard is it, really, to make a mobile game?

All I want is a basic, first person simulator type game that is actually just a basic simulator type game.

None of this premium currency loot boxes energy limited time offer arbitrary timers gacha mechanic bullshit. No ads. No servers. Everything stored locally and fully available to play entirely offline. Doesn't even need some kind of story.

Just, here's a world for you. It looks pretty nice. Explore a bit. Find somewhere to settle in. Gather resources. Build a nice little house. Basic tools. Go find some seeds. Start a garden. Basic hunting weapon. Bow and arrow. Spear. Net. Go find some animals. Wild deer, chickens, goats, sheep. Kill for meat and skins. Or catch and bring them home to raise. Brought some live animals home? Time for a barn and animal pens. Looks like your garden grew while you were gone. Time to harvest. Might need some plant storage too. And a kitchen. Maybe a bedroom. Tend to your farm and spend the between time making everything nicer. Keep exploring. More plants and animals and even flowers to find to cultivate. Find a cave. Metals. Or maybe a village. Merchants. Time for upgrades. Make new things with new materials. Or buy them by selling surplus supplies. If there's enemies at all, you have to go looking for them. Nothing comes to you looking for a fight. Your home is safe. Keep building and improving and exploring. It's a nice world. Enjoy it.

Columbo and the Knight (1984)

put me in the universe where Columbo ran through the 1980s and had a crossover episode with Knight Rider. I think they deserved it, and I am not just saying that because they're my two favorite Old Shows. @telebeast wrote a little fanfic blurb about it and I HAD to visualize it into a comic (which is also the longest comic I have finished thus far at five pages...), so writing credit goes to them.

You cannot be a perfectionist'.#Right now - posting these slightly upgraded frames is really helping me stay motivated through the learning grind.#But progress is happening! I'm so excited to show it off when it's done!#Someone with a very discerning eye might be able to figure out what I'm doing with just this one frame. I will take the risk.#That aside; I often think about how the nature of cultivators in MDZS's world also entailed knowing about other art forms.#Meaning that Wen Qing and Wen Ning likely were good musicians and artists.#We know WWX is also good in art and music so...really...what was stopping them from forming a band?#Allow me to pitch this AU: Yiling Opera company AU. WWX and the Wen remnants form a performing trope and tour towns and cities.#Not only do they find a way to keep on the move (no home...only the road and the people around you).#But you also get to be in costume - which is a socially appropriate way to always be in disguise.#Yiling Laozu would thus be a character and/or WWX's stage name.#Would he be good at keeping it a secret? Hard to say with WWX! I think it would be a poorly-kept secret at best.#He likes to brag and show off a bit too much. This many would be either the worst or best spy.#Consider the drama of JC losing his mind over his ex-brother becoming a clown. Imagine JC Getting his ass kicked by said clown.#Imagine the delectable secret identity drama potential of Lan Wangji stumbling upon the trope's performances.#We did not get nearly enough of the secret identiy drama in MDZS canon. I feel like ppl focus on Bruce training the robins to kick ass from a young age when that’s definitely not all that was. He had to teach them field medicine and how to pick locks and sneak around silently and how to notice things, sure he taught them how to hit things with sticks of multiple sizes, but he also taught them how to grapple around and land from a fall.

They probably had intimidation lessons and interrogation lessons and sessions where they just meditated for hours straight. They’re taught how to calm down civilians and to train their voices to sound different in costume and so many things that would make them the most terrifying children to live with.

Bruce is actively training them to be good at bothering him because they like trying out their new espionage skills at Galas and trying to sneak around him while he’s asleep to prank him.

When we think of training to be Robin it’s easy to think of sparring and gymnastics equipment when it’s fun to remember the other parts of it. Some days Bruce would probably just give the kids a Hunt a Killer box and a time limit.

#I think he’d get weirdly into making training exercises with oddly specific parts #by the time they’re out on the streets they have a lot of tools in their belt not just literally #like just to use batarangs they’d have to practice with darts and throwing knives and then get to batarangs #there’s a target range for grappling guns and smoke bombs and and approx 15 different weapons they have to learn #they would have to have a surprising amount of medical knowledge and various detective skills that definitely make any adult that finds out #-very concerned #they’re taught how to recognize fear toxin and if they’re hallucinating and what to do to keep themselves safe #batman would not go halfway with this shit man #he would be a good teacher as long as he’s teaching the most crazy shit #Bruce Wayne teaching self defense classes in Gotham would go hard though it would be funny #batman and robin #batman #batfamily #batfam #bruce wayne #dick grayson #jason todd #tim drake #damian wayne #stephanie brown

Tim Drake: Always the Almost

There’s something about being almost.

Tim Drake was never meant to be Robin. Not really. Not in the way Dick was—the bright, acrobatic first son. Not like Jason—the reckless, fiery second chance. Tim? Tim wasn’t supposed to be a hero at all. He wasn’t chosen. He chose himself.

But even when he did everything right, even when he saved Batman from himself, he was still almost.

Almost Robin.

Almost Batman’s partner.

Almost part of the family.

It’s exhausting being the one who holds it all together, who sees all the cracks but is never quite enough to fill them. He was the one who picked up the pieces after Jason died, the one who figured it all out, who knew Bruce was spiraling long before anyone else did. But when Bruce looked at him, he didn’t see Tim. He saw a kid trying to fit into a suit too big for him. He saw someone filling a role, not someone who belonged.

And Tim did it anyway. Because that’s what Tim does. He steps up. He takes the hits. He keeps going.

But that doesn’t make it any less lonely.

Even when he became Robin, it wasn’t the same. Dick was the golden child. Jason was the one everyone mourned. And Tim? He was the placeholder. The one who kept the legacy going while the real Robins cast their shadows over him. And when Damian came along, when Bruce’s actual son showed up, it was like the universe confirmed what Tim always feared deep down:

He was never supposed to be there.

Damian made it clear from day one. He didn’t need Tim. Gotham didn’t need Tim. Hell, Bruce didn’t need Tim. Not anymore. Damian was the son, the heir. And Tim? Tim was expendable. Replaceable.

It shouldn’t hurt. But it does. It always does.

Because no matter how many times he saves Gotham, no matter how many times he proves himself, Tim is still almost. Almost enough. Almost part of the family. Almost loved.

And the worst part? The part that no one ever sees, because Tim is so good at hiding it—he wants to be enough. He wants so badly to be seen, to be valued, to be the person they miss when he’s not there.

But he knows they wouldn’t. Not really.

Because Tim Drake is always almost.

And that’s the part that will break him.
