hello! i absolutely love ur sewing clothes videos on youtube and i was wondering how long it took u to be semi good at such a thing. i love the thought of diying and making clothes but i get really discouraged when things don’t look the way i want them to :/ thank you!!

Tbh I’m completely self taught so things took a bit longer than they needed to! I think with YouTube and resources these days (and some time and practice), you can definitely pick up the skill quickly. Everyone’s different so I really don’t wanna give a time line of like “in 1/3/6 months you will be doing great!” Because it will depend on how much practice you do and how much time you have, but If I were you I’d try to learn 1-2 basic stitches and see where it takes you!

As others have said, the time will pass anyway! So may as well start learning now :-) I believe in you! And remember the point of diy is not perfection! It’s about being made with love and intention ❤️ hope that helps!

(In response to your question though, I started sewing when I was 12 and i made a lot of ugly items! It probably wouldn’t have taken me so long to learn some of the skills if I wasn’t so stubborn and refusing to look up info tho lol)

Went to the free class to learn how to use my serger and now me and Edith (serger's name) are besties. She's got Personality because she is almost 30 years old (aka she doesn't function on default settings and takes tinkering to get anything other than a 4 thread overlocking stitch out of her BUT that is OK cuz I basically just bought her for four thread overlocking). She's so old she has to have a different plate for rolled hems but that's okay. I don't need rolled hems tbh. I don't like how they look. And! Luckily for me! Her bottom knife is super easily accessible so I should be able to replace it myself! Also! She takes regular sewing machine needles! She sews nice and slow, too which is nice because I was a liiiiittle bit scared of her.

Anyway, we're besties. Now I just gotta finish embroidering the green linen pant leg so I can start sewing those pants together!

OKAY SO admittedly I mostly only know the story through reading Guz’s wiki page a few times (teehee) and through osmosis from the general fandom dsgjkl, i want to play the game one day and maybe read the manga, and I’ve watched the anime eps he’s featured in and that’s all i’m watching of that LOL. I haven’t actually experienced much of his story (or su/mo in general) first-hand myself though fdsjkl

after the events of su/mo, I don’t think he’d actually disband Team Skull because… what is the point of that honestly LOL, so Team Skull stays together in MY version of the world hehe. they’re required to do community service to make up for whatever shenanigans they get up to, but they stop stealing pokemon and move onto just like… graffiti and casual pranks and stuff. they still cause trouble, but it’s mostly mischief now rather than any actual crime. I set them up to work on murals for shop owners around the islands so they can spraypaint and be artistic that way rather than randomly tagging walls and getting into trouble for it fjdskl. they keep their disdain for authority figures and rules because at the end of the day most of them are rowdy teens who feel outcasted from society, and that’s just the way the ball rolls with them (also a certain level of that is healthy and warranted tbh). I work with Plumeria to organize events and outings (outside of community service) for the squad though, which helps give everyone healthier outlets for their energy and focus.

Hala mentors Guz to help put him onto (and keep him on) the right track, and Guz learns to appreciate the islands and their traditions a bit - even if he still doesn’t agree with all of them. Part of that mentorship is also sort of therapy (in a more holistic naturally-occurring way rather than like... clinical therapist sitting with patient), so trauma gets unpacked and healthier ways of handling emotions are learned and implemented. Also fuck the Aether Foundation HFDSJKL I keep Guz far away from Lusamine and make sure she never gets close to him again (idk what Gladion and Lillie get up to, I haven’t thought enough about them yet fsjkl). There’s a lot of healing and self-improvement and learning how to Be A PersonTM for both of us tbh!

Beyond that, it is mostly just regular Alola/island living!! Beach visits, walking around, getting ice cream and popsicles, casual battles with tourists, catching wimpods, all that sort of thing :] Also we visit Sinnoh (my home region) for half the year (i have… a whole schedule worked out for that actually LOL) so there’s that, too.

as for the plushie omg thank u sm WAUGH :D i cannot tell if it’s just because i have a weird hodge-podge skillset but i DO think it is not actually all that difficult !!! you just need a pattern for cutting the felt and then I learned the ladder stitch for hand-sewing, and it’s been very straightforward on how to sew the pieces together!! the hardest part so far has just been the hair because I have a difficult time translating 2D images to 3D reality in that way.

I just really want to encourage ppl to try their hand at new crafts and creative skills because I think it’s really fun and honestly really good for ppls well-being!! i am very passionate about making creativity accessible to people as much as possible!!! maybe i could make a tutorial or smth… the pattern I'm using is free and available on the creator’s website, and it’s genuinely not that difficult esp compared to some other things i’ve tried my hand at in the past LOL I feel like some of my paper mache projects have been more complex than this lil goober!!

I’ve been thinking about getting into crochet! I’m trying to do more hands on hobbies as a way to get me from falling into a depression funk. I had a knitting “faze” when I was ten years old and I’m considering going back into it. However I suffer from the good old “if I’m immediately bad at something new then I don’t want to try it at all! 😤”

You totally should! I learned how to do basic crochet from my grandma when I was 11, then never picked it up again until recently(ish). Honestly, it got my through my fucky exam period last year. It's just so much fun and when I can listen to a podcast/watch YT/a show while doing it I immediately get into a very intense flow state. I'd recommend amigurumi when you're only starting out, actually! You don't need to learn much, just the magic ring (you can find easy ways to do that on YT, everyone likes to do theirs differently so no rec from me haha). Afterwards, it's just single crochets, increases and decreases and counting. Later on, simple sewing. Start out with a simple cotton yarn, acrylic can get rather stiff, don't start with bulky yarns like velvets etc - these really are for more experienced crocheters (but they're not that hard to work with. Just not for beginners.)... For stitch counting, you can use either a yarn scrap or safety pin. I'm in Europe and just got super cheap hooks from Action and well priced cotton yarn from Søstrene Grene (2,39 Euro for I think 50g of yarn? That's enough for two amigurumi main body colors, tbh). There are also entire kits catered to beginners, I can recommend those as well (if they have a hook included!) I personally found the learning curve on amigurumi extremely steep. I just needed two days to get started on my first one (first I just practiced a simple round body) and on my third amigurumi, they started looking right. Took me like... a week? It was fast and BAM just a few weeks later I was writing my own patterns and wrote patterns from simply watching other people crochet in a foreign language. Crochet is super fun and once you get started on the bulky yarns, you can create giant plushies from scratch!! Absolutely amazing. I'd say it's actually a good hobby for the 'I need it to be good asap' faction because you can make giant steps in a single day. Good luck!! If you want me to show you some patterns I did, tell me!!

This is true! And also probably a lot less of a learning curve before seeing nice looking result than you might be expecting, and also some of the projects you see might take shorter than you expect

I started crochet from the “ok so how does a basic stitch work?” about a month ago, and I’m already making clothes I’m comfortable wearing to work — my hat today was made by me, for me, and looks like something you could buy, and took me maybe 3 hours to make collectively, including finding materials and a pattern to work from

(For the record I make a lot of my own clothes, via sewing (I started sewing like 2 years ago) and now crochet, and the following is all coming from that experience)

A few things I think people could do to avoid that “DIY look”:

1. Finding Good Patterns. With the rise of fast fashion, a lot of cheaper patterns have been less targeted towards, essentially, people who want to learn sewing as an arts and crafts hobby, and less targeted towards people who want to wear the clothes. They often lag stylistically, they don’t readily account for how pattern alterations are no longer a household skill, these are the ones that will “look DIY”, or sometimes a bit too much like that one Christian homeschool family tm. when you get outside of that bracket, to patterns which look good or are more easily adjustable, they tend to more often assume you already know how to do things (leading to very chaotic or incomplete instructions).

YouTube and other clickbait crafting sources can also set you up on the pattern or instruction front — if you are a beginner who is feeling discouraged by your sewing projects looking kinda bad in comparison to an EQ store bought garment, I would recommend against going to something marketed too much as a beginner project (many of these are not actually for people who want to wear the clothes and are more for the “here is something to teach the child how to sew” market — they will look like it), and go to like a medium level project, and plan to fuck it up a few times before you make a nice one. Additionally, Look at the photo shown with the garment and consider whether it will look as good in the fabric you plan to use, how much of any photography is working there lighting, and be ok with dropping a few which are just being packaged prettily.

Alternatively, take a piece of clothing you know fits you well and trace out a pattern from it — my first shirts done 2 years ago were done this way, and held together with staples. I wouldn’t recommend actually wearing the stapled version much, but otherwise? It worked fine

2. Plan to have a fuck up round when you start a new pattern. Tbh this is true in almost any art, but with sewing in particular (because once it’s cut it’s cut) just have some of the cheapest fabric that won’t affect the way it sits too much, and make a first pass to see: a. what the process is like, get the ducking up out of your system. b. How does the pattern actually fit on you? Make your adjustments on the cheap one and transfer that to the end garment—you can then use that pattern for as many clothes as you get the fabric for. Also a good idea to do test swatches.

3. Material selection, know when it matters and how. The hat I’m wearing now partially looks this good because I went ahead and bought the 7$ ball of yarn rather than the $3 red heart value saver. There’s a time and place for the $3 red heart value saver yarn, but if you want to look like something from a store, they aren’t using value saver yarn for most things. This is not to say that you need to spend a fortune on materials, unless you’re wanting to work with fur or to be on a level with formal wear or higher fashion, but if the store made it out of denim and you make it out of felt, it will not look or feel the same. You can still do it! And look amazing! But like, do so consciously rather than by accident.

Overstock suppliers are a good source for more traditional apparel fabrics, and you can look up guides on a lot of patterns to see what fabrics are recommended.

Go ahead and just use thread marked for machine quilting, upholstery, or other heavier use options. That stuff they sell in the emergency stitch kits in the grocery stores or wherever is awful to work with and breaks.

4. Machine crafting will look different. If you’re hand sewing, unless you have ungodly tiny and even stitches, the seams will look different—some machines are needed for some types of stitches, but are expensive (look at the hem of a t shirt at the sort of loopy seam along the hem as an example — that’s from a flatlock sewing machine, which tend to use 8 spools of thread at a time, and which is decidedly outside of my budget — I use a zigzag stitch instead and while it is functional, it looks different) There are certain kinds of fasteners which are affixed via heavy machinery or fastener specific machines you are unlikely to have.

Ultimately, all of this still ends up looking good with the DIY or affordable option

5. Even if you don’t wanna make your own things wholecloth, there are a lot of little useful skills which can save you trouble in the long run, and honestly take almost no time to learn. Sewing buttons on is a wonderfully simple but useful skill — zippers are also a deceptively simple replaceable feature which can rescue a jacket you’d otherwise have to toss. Magnetic snap clasps (like purses use) tend to be sold solo, as are purse handles and their hook ups, and are one of the most often broken parts of a purse. Clothing snaps are stupid easy to apply, and only require you to already have a hammer (no needle, no thread, they come with the guide)

Let go of the idea that diy will inherently look shit. All your clothes are handmade you just don't see the people doing it.

What materials do you use for sewing? Do you have any advice for someone who wants to get into it, or any recommendations like youtube channels or books?

im old so tbh i learned how to sew before online tutorials were really available. there was like 1 person on dA posting free plushie patterns and they had like 2 tutorials up that i did over and over & then never expanded on so my sewing is kinda mediocre 😂 there's probably tons of resources out there these days tho. my own advice is gussets are your friend, bulk buy a cheap soft material to practice with and always test patterns before you commit to good fabric. and you're always going to need more thread than you thought lmao. my primary methods are back stitching and ladder stitching, bc they're the only ones those tutorials went over, so i just kind of frankenstein my needs with them.

making patterns tho, that i enjoy doing. rockruff i made by pulling a 3D model off a website and putting it in blender (free), and using the mark seam button to lay out the shapes of the model flat. generally it's used for texturing, but if you do a good job and put gussets where you need them then using it as a sewing pattern will about 1 for 1 recreate the 3D model. obviously there are limitations but it's good enough for me :-)

there are lots of places you can find free or cheap sewing patterns, as well as books of them you can buy at any craft or sewing store. experiment and figure out what you like!

I think you'll be unlikely to find a specialist pattern for free. People know that they can make money on cosplay patterns and often do. That said, you'll likely be better off just buying a lab coat tbh and embellishing it, adding old fashioned buttons and weathering it, for example.

I found on etsy a UK based seller selling basic lab coats for £12, for example. You'll find that it'll cost a LOT more to get an accurate lab coat look if you want to sew it, even if you used like second hand duvet sheets as your fabric which I've done before and it's worked just fine; a LOT of us use whatever fabric we can find. Yes, including old duvets! :>

Your main expenditure is going to be the pattern it seems. No freebies for adults that I can find, so you'd need to grade up a free kids or doll sized pattern which is.... a lot of work and not advisable for a beginner imo, especially as the smaller the pattern the more work it is to scale it in my opinion.

So your options are: buy a modern cheap labcoat and learn to make embellishments to it until it looks how yo want it to, or splurge on a pattern so you can sew your own.

You can always add pockets to an existing coat also - look up tutorials on basic patch pockets for now, as they're the easiest. Just make sure they're at least kinda evenly spaced on the garment!

As for fabric if you're set on making your own or want to add pockets, you'll likely find most lab coats are made of cotton drill or twill depending on the 'weight' and thickness of the fabric its made from. Maybe canvas would work too. I suggest looking on sites like Pound Fabrics as they sell basics for MUCH cheaper than places like Minerva which is where I get my fabric usually. You could go cheaper and use a plain polycotton or polycotton sheeting or shirting fabric, which is usually about £4 a meter but is much lighter in weight than, say, a drill or twill cotton.

So overall! I'd recommend seriously just buying a coat. You can get them much cheaper than a pattern AND fabric it seems so that's the direction I'd go esp if it's for costuming or cosplay and doesn't need a high level of accuracy that you can't achieve with embellishing.

I'd say you'll only need a meters worth at the MOST to make some patch pockets!

That linked site also has a lot of buttons - if your sewing machine has buttonhole settings it'll be a breeze and I csn teach you how to do those, but if not you can always go the cheats way, and cut some neat button holes and just use fray check on them, which is a liquid you put onto fabric which will fray at the hems, and it stops that happening!

I suggest looking up free tutorials on patch pockets and button holes and button application by hand, and if your lab coat has a zip you want to remove and replace with buttons, then you could look into buying 'stitch rippers' and learning how to use those also.

SEWING/COSPLAY SIDE OF TUMBLR I NEED HELP

So I wanna do a mad scientist look for Halloween this year and I also kinda want to make it myself because I live in Ireland which makes online shopping the definition of Hell On Earth

But I'm only really a beginner at sewing, I can hand stitch no problem and I have a basic midi sewing machine that can handle most fabrics that aren't particularly thick/heavy (i.e. not denim)

Also I can't seem to find any actual patterns for free online which is. Less than optimal

I'm a size 12-14 in Irish clothes sizing, idk what that is in the US or other countries but I also suck ass at taking my own measurements and I'm going for smth on the looser side anyway because it's more comfortable for me

Other notes (forgive me for trying to sound like I know what the hell I'm talking about

pockets would be cool but not essential

idgaf really whether it's more modern or old fashioned, just whatever people can help with I guess

If you can let me know what type of fabric would work best that'd be great cause while I could just cut up an old bedsheet to make a lab coat I have a feeling I would be haunted by the ghosts of dressmakers past for doing so

Literally. Just batkids doin' crafts. As someone who does..... way too many crafts to list here (I'll send a list if asked but just trust me) I feel like I've gotten a good feel for this.

Dick

My man grew up in a circus, regularly checking ropes and tensions....

Macrame. He's a pro at macrame. Maybe he doesn't do it often, but like. For his friends, he'll sometimes surprise them with lil gifts.

When any of his Titans buds move he makes them those fancy hanging macrame plant holders. Donna and Kori both love them, and have been known to fight over them during white elephant/dirty Santa type gift games.

Probably doesn't have the ability to sit still for long periods of time, so can't do anything that'll unravel if he puts it down. It takes him a long time to finish a project, so he really only buys materials as he starts a new one, and doesn't have any excess stuff lying around his apartment.

Jason

You cannot tell me he doesn't crochet to unwind. Like. Idk if he's any good at it, but he def angry crochets.

Probably has been working on one scarf for like five years

Never has consistent stitches

Likes touching all the yarns at the store

Probably just enjoys squishing the yarn in general tbh. It's slightly more satisfying than ever actually doing anything with the yarn.

Cass

One time Bruce took her to like. Silver Dollar City or somewhere else that had someone with a loom, and she was fascinated. She made him buy her a shawl and then made Tim put together a power point about why she should have a loom.

Bruce ended up caving and buying her one that's skinnier, for like table runners. It's great, because she's mostly fascinated with making gradients in her weaves.

She learned Swedish Weaving (it's a like an embroidery/weaving hybrid) so she could embellish her works.

Mostly gives them out as gifts. She gave one to Selina, who guards it possessively. Harley tried to borrow it once and about lost her fingers.

Probably also learned to make little tassles for the ends

Tim

Attention to detail? Obsession over the minutia? Oh. You know my boy is an epoxy resin artist.

Has a crafting station in his room that's meticulously organized. There's cubbies for pigments, flowers, glitters, bits of ribbons and strings, etc etc

Probably makes all kinds of thing tbh. Phone cases, trinkets, you name it. But pens are his favorites, because they're both simple and practical. There's like a whole army of pens that just... keeps growing in Titans Tower because he always forgets where he's put his.

None of his teammates realize he is the source of the pens. They (Kon, Cassie, Bart) just think the pens are an infestations and/or are pairing up and making baby pens. But Cassie and Bart love them bc ✨aesthetics✨

Probably has a tik tok or an insta where he posts videos of himself de-molding things to soothing lofi tracks. Literally just. All the vibes. It's gorgeous.

Steph

Also all the vibes. She is a bujo/stationary queen.

Her collection is much messier than Tim's, but has a surprising amount of overlap. Sometimes they borrow things from each other, and have collabed on their social accounts (he makes journal covers, she makes them into notebooks, he supplies her with pens, she uses them when making a weekly/monthly set up, etc)

Duke

For some reason I don't peg him as being as craft-oriented as his closest-in-age sibs? He probably has less expensive coping mechanisms tbh

That being said I can see he would enjoy those stores where you go in and paint pottery and they kiln/glaze it for you? Like he isn't into sculpting it himself, but painting the little kitchenware pieces or statuettes is relaxing.

He paints mugs for all his sibs on their birthdays, and for Alfred.

Alfred probably has a whole army of custom mugs made for him by the kids, now that I'm thinking about it. Like half of them are from Duke, because he doesn't know what else to do with them. There are just so many because it's so simple.....

Kate Kane, Tatsu Yamashiro, and Jeff Pierce also all have mugs. Actually... Lowkey highkey I can see that Tatsu might have introduced Duke to this kind of stuff in the first place? I can see that she would enjoy something simple that you can do while trying to clear out your mind.

Damian

Well. Damian is a gifted artist, but this translates differently into actual crafts. It just does.

He's probably a good printmaker. Not only does this take advantage of his art skills and keen attention to details, but it's one of the oldest artforms still in practice today. Most printmakers develop their techniques by perfecting one of several forms of the art, which have been passed through generations, and have a really firm grip on art history. Those stories would appeal to Damian, in addition to the craft itself.

Damian is the most likely of his siblings to be able to sit still for prolonged periods of time and do a repetitive motion. In fact, it may actually be something he can enjoy if it means he can just zone out for a bit. So, he's probably actually decent at spinning yarn. If the sky is grey and rainy, he drags out a wheel and some pre-sorted rolags and spins yarn, exclusively for Cass, who then weaves it. He enjoys the progression of colors in the fibers as much as she does, and they bond over it.

The feeling of different fibers slipping through his fingers is also really soothing. Bad day? Time to spin some merino, because it slips like water through his touch. Need to feel grounded? Time to spin a cotton blend, because you have to be present enough not to chafe your hands on the rough fibers...

Probably also really good at embroidery, for the same reasons. Plus, it's really satisfying to feel and hear the pbt-psht, pbt-psht of the needle and thread pulling through the taut fabric.

Bruce

Obviously knows how to forge/metalwork. I like to imagine he's also dabbled in lost wax casting.

Probably has little trinkets he made when he was younger scattered around the house. Maybe he donated a few to charity auctions.

Has made rings/jewelry pieces. But doesn't talk about them. (One ring went to Selina, and a pair of earrings went to Talia)

Alfred

The all-talented, all-knowing. There's probably nothing he can't do. He already sews all their outfits. So I mean.

Sometimes it feels really good to have something to stab. I'm not saying he does needle felting, but I'm not saying he wouldn't.

Probably was the one who taught Bruce about lost wax, and the one who helps Damian research about printmakers.

Silently supplies all the kids with all the art things.

Has a chest in his room filled with all the things that he's been gifted with over the years. There's little uneven macrame hanging from when Dick was just getting the hang of it, lumpy scarves that are too short for anyone to realistically wear from Jason, linen sets made by Cass, various trinkets from Tim, handmade cards and notebooks from Steph, mugs from Duke, and old embroidery pieces from Damian in unevenly stained hoops.

his mother is a theater actress so he’s spent his childhood following her around and watching her perform. she’s quite a strict person, wanted to raise haewon as a high achiever so she micromanaged his schedule for years until haewon got fed up with it and moved with his grandfather back in korea

got super interested in music after hearing a classmate practicing alone in the music room, he basically fell in love at the first sound lol. after that he joined the music club and, after spending a lot of time with that classmate, subsequently fell in love for Real for real. found out soon after that she had some health problems that made any future between them impossible so he just opted to never tell her about his feelings in the end

she convinced haewon to participate in dimensions’ audition together and lo and behold they both got in, though he was the only one who became a trainee and only because she managed to convince him

hateeed being a trainee 10/10 worst experience of his life but also not really, he’s just a bit dramatic sometimes. it actually helped him hone many of the skills he’d already acquired while under his mother’s reign of terror

he was pretty quiet while quantum debuted and in that subsequent period because his korean wasn’t necessarily fluent and he didn’t want to bring too much attention to it in the first place so the public thought he was the shy type but in actuality he is very social and likes to make new friends on the regular!

some facts:

knows how to sew (say thank you mama park who more or less forced him to stitch back her dresses before she went on stage)

fully thought quantum’s first win was an april fools joke before several members and the mc told him they ACTUALLY won like fr fr won and then he started crying

has an obsession with kdramas at this point but he mainly watches the slice of life ones and he regularly gives fans recommendations

because his stage name is teddy he gets a lot of teddy bears from fans and he lowkey loves that, he keeps them all on his bed or around his apartment when he runs out of room and regularly wears keychains and whatever teddy bear memorabilia he gets

is a big girl group fan and even if his dancing is just Okay™️ he will religiously learn girl group dances as they get released, sometimes practicing them more than quantum’s own songs rip

used to write songs when he was in hs and tbh most of them were love songs but he hasn’t written/composed anything in a while because he can’t bring himself to touch any instrument to work notes out and stuff, so he just walks around with a head full of ideas that he doesn’t do anything with 

is a lightweight but he likes to drink way too much which in all honesty is a scandal waiting to happen

some plot ideas:

friends are always super wanted ofc but a super specific type i’d like haewon to have is a flirty kind of friendship, someone that he can’t help but flirt with whenever they have a coversation or see each other during schedules/hangouts. doesn’t have to be romantic in nature at all and all genders are super welcome! 

i would also love some kind of rivals plot but one sided? as in haewon sees this person as his rival in the vocal department and is doing his best to keep ahead of them by taking on more vocal intense projects and the other person being like “oh he’s such a hard worker! such a cool guy! keep it up!” like very clueless about haewon’s inner turmoil lol

also listen i would love a ship…tbh he’s been keeping away from love for a while now but he’s also a romantic at heart so i’d like to give him something to be happy about. we can work details and take it slow to see if they vibe but i’d just love him to be a little bit smitten with someone again 😭

i can just imagine him putting on a vinyl song, holding up his arms and doing the steps to the dance (1, 2, 3... 1, 2, 3) and god forbid someone tries to come in during this time because he’d be too embarrassed to be lenient on their punishment

i imagine he’s super into learning other couple dances too like tango and salsa, so when you get together with him count on being his partner!

i bet he also loves teaching other people things-- like genuinely, considering he is the oldest of the seven (his brothers just test him LOL)

incredibly patient when showing you the steps, taking pride in your improvement and growing warm at the thought of you being able to dance with him at the next chance you get

and his weakness???? online shopping on akuzon 

which, when you find out, makes him extremely embarrassed and depending on whether you have the same past time-- you may or may not buy everything on akuzon

on his home screen interaction dialogue, he says something along the lines of “Akuzon is too convenient... it’s easy to buy a lot of things” while blushing

so I’m thinking sometimes when he does take a breather from his workload, he scrolls on akuzon just browsing for things because it’s quick

and when he gets to share it with you, he’s so nervous; but the giddy happiness he feels when you tell him that it’s good is SO worth the wait and time he puts into his music

he’d be happy just having his mixtapes and music to himself but being able to share it with someone makes it a lot sweeter

definitely makes playlists for and about you because sometimes the feelings he can’t put into words he can tell you through music

idk if he has a recording studio in his room, but i think it’d be pretty fitting if there was

asides from reading, loves traveling when he can whenever he can

he’d enjoy hiking too-- on trails, through the wilderness, among the wild; just give him a backpack, an explorers hat, maybe a walking stick (just like the ones in the movies) and he’s on his way!

if levi IS into making cosplay, it’d be such a nice way for them to bond together since Levi is pretty good with picking out material too

big, strong hands, good for crafting that involves a little more strength, but considering he’s a pretty tender and patient guy, is great at sculpting with clay, which extends to pottery as well

just imagine him sitting near a kiln, spinning the clay and using his hands to shape the curve and notches of a pot

considering how many plates and bowls he’s probably eaten, it makes for a good way to replace them HAHA

good at crafting with glass too considering it requires steady hands and strength to spin glass evenly

enjoys a lot of arts and crafts and loves giving them as gifts, especially if they’re made from his own hands

one of the main reasons why he started and likes doing these as a hobby actually

adores the look on you face when you created a glass terrarium for your plants or created glass ornaments dyed with your favorite colors

would definitely be the type of person to put his hands on yours as he teaches you how to shape the clay and have plenty of fun with you watching you try to make glass ornaments with or without success

during his waking hours, he loves to study the stars

loved to watch them in the human world, but without a night sky, he’s content with looking up for constellations in books from the library

if you buy him the cute lamp that lights stars onto the ceiling, he’ll find you so endearing because he’d enjoy lying in bed with you and just looking up at the lights and being in each other’s arms-- imagining the day he gets to do this with you for real, on a picnic blanket, looking up at the moon and stars

i say MAINLY doodles because they’re easier like drawing chibis or whatever thinks is amusing and lowkey keeps him awake (though Lucifer doesn’t like it when he draws on the desks)

This wasn't that, though. This wasn't a grave plot for two. This was murder. Homicide. And the knife was in his hands. He could plea all he wanted, try to convince the world he was an innocent man, that the blood on his hands was not yours, but the rest of the worlds, as if there were a difference. He could do all he wanted, but there was no denying it. It didn't matter if he meant to or not, the second you stepped down the aisle, he was leading you to the underworld. You didn't want to be her, there was no need. The time alone, the way you hung from his arm at parties and events only to be shaken off the second onlookers were away, given the cold shoulder while he went out for a smoke. How you were hidden away from any business, the business your family was happily paying for, keeping the lights on and his pockets well lined. Also Espeon has the "crunchy stuffing" (the first time I've noticed it in an online-ordered BAB, surprised I've made it this far without coming across it before tbh) and it suuuucks. She does have a nice amount of stuffing (on the floppy side, which is good bc some past online orders have come massively over-stuffed) but the "crunchiness" is noticeable whenever I squish her. I'd be too afraid to replace all the stuffing myself because I kinda suck at sewing (I want to find a class or something but none of my community centers offer it) and in the meantime it just makes me cringe

I haaaaate the crunchy stuffing. Also it's funny because my orders are always understuffed, and others say theirs are overstuffed. I wish they'd overstuff some of my orders lol!

So, the only stitch you need to know to close up a Build-a-Bear is a ladder stitch. I recommend watching a couple youtube tutorials, it's very easy to learn and a very versatile stitch! It's absolutely worth knowing so you don't have to take BaBs in to the store for adjustments. Also, even the cheapest stuffing at a craft store is nicer than the BaB online stuffing. I use the regular old poly-fil brand, a 32 ounce bag is around $9, and should be enough for several BaBs depending on how you like them stuffed!
