Lurking under our boring little regular reality, there is a world of people who interact with forces beyond the natural reach of humans. Such arts are occult by nature, confusing the senses of those not attuned to the arcane. Which is why nearly every large population, even independently, converges on the creation of centers of knowledge to teach the next generations to control their gifts.

Amparakuy Yachay Wasi is one of these places. Created during the 12th century by incan arcanists somewhere between the Andes and the Amazonian Rainforest, it was exclusive for those among the elites, a sad pattern in magical education all around the world. Other arcanists relied on passed knowledge from their parents or, in the case of those few born among mundane families, they just stayed dormant in their powers or manifested in uncontroled ways. At the time, the school was named Yachay Wasi Intimanta.

After the fall of Cuzco, in 1535, waves and waves of refugees fleeing the genocide and plague brought by europeans ended up taking refuge in the school. That is when Pakasqa was founded, the hidden city near the magic school, now renamed Amparakuy ("Refuge") to better reflect its new purpose. In Pakasqa, peoples both arcane and mundane came together through a shared struggle and worked towards isolating themselves from the atrocities of the outside world. Even while European arcanists systematically kidnapped South American arcanists, Amparakuy and the counsil of Pakasqa stayed silent. It is a sad reality that today's Arcanists deal with everyday.

For the next couple centuries, the counsil of Pakasqa became the de facto governing body of the arcane world in their continent. Composed by representatives of arcane lineages from all over latin america, the counsil would, in the future, become a key player in keeping arcanist sovereignty and secrecy among latin american nations.

With over five hundred years of history, Amparakuy Yachay Wasi teaches young arcanists from all over latin america to control their magical gifts. Most arcanists are born from arcanist families, and the few exceptions are sought and contacted by the current Director of Amparakuy. Today, that is a woman named Uyara Castillo, a skilled second generation arcanist and the first director not to come from a centenary lineage.

And soon, Director Castillo would contact a very special little arcanist, soon to have her gift awakened by the tricks on a shapeshifting witch in the Brazillian Amazon.

There seems to be a general malaise on most of Tumblr about TikTok getting banned in the United States.

I understand the problems, "brain rot", whatever but- A government banning a social media app that opened the world for many people is legitimately scary and upsetting. Say what you want but, there are MANY global and local issues that would not have gotten the same traction, recognition, and outreach without TikTok.

And then add to this that Meta/Facebook was one the largest lobbyists working to get TikTok banned... Like- I think folks should be more concerned about the implications of what this means, especially since the ban goes into effect the day before inauguration.

i have such a love for characters who descend into madness or villainy out of deep, deep empathy. characters who fundamentally cannot cope with the cruel realities they find themselves in and blow up about it in spectacular fashion. fallen angel type characters with tears of outrage in their eyes. characters who break before they bend, and break so badly they splatter blood all over their noble ideals. every variation on it gets me so good

i notice that i and many people in my area tend to omit the "to be" in phrases like "the cats need to be fed" and "your kid wants to be held" but i don't thiiink it's standard english and i'm curious if it is a regionalism or what

Headcanon where after so many arguments between the batkids and Bruce over his paranoia and complete disregard for his kids privacy, the entire family had compromised with (in the healthiest way possible) downloading life360 on their phones and that's how they all keep track of each other.

Now Bruce knew that this is mostly for his benefit and is supposed to be a healthy alternative for his unhealthy paranoia and helicopter parenting, but what he wasn't expecting was for his kids to start keeping track of him.

He's putting gas in his car and Dick calls him because apparently Dick has been watching him drive around on the app? And Bruce is currently at a gas station thats right around the corner from a Taco Bell and now Dick wants him to get food for everyone since he's already there.

He's driving home from a meeting and Steph calls him because her and Duke were shopping in the area and wants to know if he can pick them up, when he asks how she knew he was on the same street, he gets a "Oh I just like to stalk everyone on the app for funsies." as an answer.

Jason calls him and he can barely get out a hello before Jason cuts him off, "Bruce why the fuck is your phone battery on 5%, charge your damn phone" which completely stuns him because why does he know that. He clears his throat before answering. "Jason, what?"

"Everyone can see each others phone batteries on '360, now charge your phone." Is all he gets before Jason hangs up on him.
