wilds era complaining under the cut I just finally figured out a thing that's been making my brain itchy
Honestly as much more as I liked TotK than BotW because all I really wanted from BotW was more atmospheric spaces and more story, learning that Fujibayashi was an experience designer for horror attractions makes everything I hated about the last three big zelda titles (the ones he directed) make so much sense.
If you've known me for the past few years, you have definitely heard me complain about not being able to ride my horse in the desert, despite the reason for that limitation being a story beat that you have to resolve, and despite resolving it, you still cannot use that mechanic in that area.
I thought this was just a Me, Personally complaint -- but it's actually a perfect summary of the Entire Issue I have:
Fujibayashi's games don't prioritize story at all. By his own description, everything in his games are about mechanics and getting from point a to point b to make you use those mechanics. The story is just set dressing to get you to move around the map, which is true of all games to an extent. And because that's true of all games to an extent, I thought this was just an issue I had with open world games.
But Hollow Knight doesn't have that problem, nor does Psychonauts 2, nor Journey, nor really any other open world game that I've played. This is because -- per the developers -- those maps expanded organically and were built out as the story expanded.
So the issue is that most of those games use mechanics as a vehicle for you to explore the world and story. Fujibayashi's games use the world and story as a vehicle for you to explore the mechanics.
And Fujibayashi is a solid environmental storyteller, but he's also really not a storyteller. It's clearly not what he enjoys doing and not what he prioritizes. He likes planning routes and making puzzles, which is great! Games rely on that skillset! It's very important!
Except, people who play narrative games usually want a compelling narrative more than a trick to get from here to there. Fans will take the long road to find lore at the end of it. Aunoma was better at that, which is why traveling in OoT and WW sucks for 70% of the game but the stories are more devoted and the hints were more compelling, but now he just (by his own description) mostly nods or shakes his head at whatever Fujibayashi is doing.
For comparison, look at Journey, which is ONLY environmental storytelling. There is No dialogue or really any developed characters, and it is one of the most highly rated, heavily awarded games in recent history.
I genuinely did and do enjoy TotK. But it REALLY concerns me if the director hadn't thought of it as directly referencing prior games, despite considering himself a huge fan of the series. Especially because TotK even mimicked the plot of his OWN game (Zelda is whisked away, goes back in time, seals herself in an unreachable state to make a sword to defeat the evil that came from below and then is an immortal who magically turns human because of love, Impa is the only one who knows about it, the sky people inventing the kingdom of Hyrule, etc).
I do honestly assume that's a mistranslation of him not having heard that some people thought it was recreating Ocarina of Time, specifically, because he later seemed to be on team 'It's All Intentionally The Same Legend Being Retold in Each Game' (which is all well and good).
All this to say, I think Fujibayashi is a skilled engineer but that man needs a co-director who really prioritizes story. If Nintendo gets him one we'll probably get a really good game out of it.

i made this instagram post !!! there isn't as big of a community of AAC users on instagram so I thought I would share this on my instagram (@cytochromesea).
EDIT: i got an ask that states that not everyone knows what AAC is which is an oversight on my part, it stands for alternative and augmentative communication!
Image ID:
A light blue background with a rainbow and a cloud and some stars. There is a blue border collie with wings holding an aac tablet that says I love you! Text reads: AAC etiquette. Do’s, Don’ts, and other stuff. By cytochrome sea.
The same background appears in every following slide. Text reads:
AAC is my voice! It is not a toy or accessory
Don’t touch my AAC without my permission
Don’t take my AAC away from me, for any reason (joke, punishment, etc)
Don’t press buttons randomly or flip through my communication cards without permission
How would you like it if I randomly poked you on the mouth and throat (or on your hands if you sign)? It would be unpleasant, so don’t do that to me
Some AAC users can speak sometimes. It is not your business why someone can or cannot talk
Don’t ask questions about why an AAC user cannot speak.
Do let us communicate however is best for us in that moment
Don’t ask us if or when we will be able to speak verbally. It’s not your business
Do not value verbal speech more highly than AAC. Any communication is good communication
Some of us never talk, either, and that’s ok! Those of us who can talk sometimes are not better than those of us who can’t. None of us owe you an explanation for our use of AAC.
Don’t look at my screen until I show you. It feels really invasive!
It feels like when someone is looking at your phone screen over your shoulder, so please don’t do this
This applies to low tech AAC as well, don’t look at someone’s cards or letter board until they show you
You have the dignity of forming your thoughts in your head before you say them, whereas my thoughts are all on display. Please afford me the same dignity that you get automatically.
Don’t shame someone for not being able to speak verbally. It makes us feel horrible
We are real people with thoughts and feelings. Please treat us with kindness.
We are trying our best
Don’t shame someone if their device mispronounces a word. It’s quite literally out of our control.
Other Don’ts. Don’t
Don't Treat an AAC user as childish or stupid for not being able to speak. Our ability to speak does not define our worth
Don't Show frustration at the way someone communicates
Don't Make comments about how fast or slow we communicate
Also don’t…
don't Act surprised when we swear or talk about adult topics like sex, drugs, or violence. We are not pure uwu precious smol beans, we are normal fucking people
don't Assume what is “wrong” with us. There are about a hundred reasons for someone to use AAC and you probably aren’t the expert in any of them.
“OK, so what CAN i do?” im glad you asked! When interacting with an AAC user, DO…
Ask us how we prefer to communicate and support us as you are able
Assume that we are competent
Talk to us with the same respect, tone and vocabulary that you would for any one else
Give us money (this one is a joke)
Understand that AAC grammar isn’t perfect and we are doing our best
Is it rude if…
I can’t understand your device? Not rude! Misunderstandings happen all the time in any conversation, just be patient as you would normally.
I want to complement your AAC? Not rude!
I ask to see your AAC and understand how it works? This isn’t rude if you are already talking about AAC, but don’t ask random strangers this. They don’t owe you an AAC tour.
Thank you for listening! This post is for the community! If you are an AAC user, let me know if I missed something in the comments and I will pin it! I hope you are filled with peace and love and I hope something good happens to you today! End ID.

Grocery girl: Ken Sato x reader pt. 1
--------------------
You were a delivery girl who was a frequently dispatched to famous baseball player's Ken Sato residence, you were a nobody that anyone hardly paid attention to, until you found the legendary baseball passed out on his front steps looking like hell, being a bit of worry wart you help him inside and that things took a HUGE turn when you find yourself playing mommy for a giant baby dragon....
----------------------------------------------------------
"He's been ordering a lot of Coconut water lately..." R/n mumbled as she loaded up her delivery van with the items on the shopping list Ken Sato's assistant sent her for his bi-weekly delivery, usually he just orders beer, protein shakes and a melange western food some of which were not a common find around Japanese super markets.
R/n had to go special import stores for some of the stuff Mr. Sato orders; which takes R/n though a wild runaround of the entire city, A route that none her other coworkers had the time or patience for; even the self-proclaimed "Sato-fan queen" Who stole R/n's route gave up within 20 minutes when she couldn't find the tiny shop that sold his special brand of coffee.
Her saga ended when she tried to cut corners and grabbed random items and delivered those instead...Yeah, that went over like a lead balloon. Her majesty got a harsh chewing out by the boss after Mr. Sato's assistant complained about the delivery and threatened a restraining order after the younger devilry girl displayed an obsessive and aggressive attitude.
(I.E. taking selfies of herself in front of the house, flirting into the intercom and trying to force herself into Mr Sato's house when she realized he wasn't home.)
Needless to say, R/n was assigned Mr. Sato's personal delivery girl, cos she was the only one that didn't have crush on him. Much to the ire of her female and few male coworkers. R/n remembered the first time Mr. Sato was there to receive his groceries in person. He seemed thrown off by her complete impassiveness towards him....
----------------------------------
{Flashback, To Ken taking the groceries from R/n, he kept staring at the delivery girl expecting her to crack a smile or squeal excitedly or something, but no, she kept a neutral expression on her face and stayed professional during the entire transaction.]
"Uh....Aren't you going to ask for my autograph?"
"Nope."
"But...I'm Ken Sato."
"Yeah, I know who you are and I don't care. sign here."
R/n holds out her tablet as Ken stares at her baffled; he signs the digital receipt, R/n printed out the receipt sticker and slapped it on the the box the baseball player was holding, The (Y/Height) woman then tipped her hat to him before getting into her van and driving off leaving Ken standing in his driveway completely dumbfounded.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
After that Mr. Sato and R/n kept their interactions short and sweet, which seemed to work just fine for them. But things change and R/n was going to experience a very big change in her life.
It all started when the Sato-stalker queen Or Meiko AKA: "Meimei" as calls herself on her blog invited R/n to Mr. Sato's premier game, R/n tried to reject the offer as gently as possible; sports were never really her thing, but the bottle blonde girl had guilt tripped her into going. Apparently she doesn't have many friends (wonder why?), so there was R/n sitting up in the nosebleed section while feeling awkward in the sparkly baseball jersey Meimei had insisted she wear for the occasion.
The whole time the blonde was squealing and blabbing about Mr. Sato and how handsome he was and how unfair it was that R/n got to see him, thought the older woman was quick to dash whatever hopes Meimei had of hearing about Mr. Sato's personal life by informing her that he's barely home when she delivers to him and few times he is there it's just to receive the groceries.
"What goes on in Mr. Sato's private life is not our business..." R/n affirmed Meimei just pouted and called R/n mean before turning her attention to the pitch, she gasped loudly and started shaking R/n excitedly. "Ohmygash, ohmygash!! It's him! she squealed as Mr. Sato stepped on to the field towards his position at bat.
R/n couldn't help but wince when she watched Ken miss the first two balls, she saw the catcher from the other team say something that peeved off Mr. Sato; it looked like they were going to throw down until the umpire calmed it down and Mr. Sato change his position at the third pitch.
He pulled off an impressive power hit that got the crowd screaming and cheering. However, as Meimei was squealing and shaking R/n for what seemed to be for the umpteenth time she failed to notice her older coworker's attention was completely fixated on something else.
She felt R/n suddenly grab her hand. Meimei looked at R/n bemused but then noticed her complexion had gone ashen as the older delivery girl pointed up at the sky; the younger one followed her gaze and lost all of her peppiness in seconds as an explosion from a downed aircraft went off over the stadium causing the entire place to shake!
The stadium erupted into chaos as R/n instinctively covered her younger coworker from any fallen debris as the Kaiju alert system went off ordering everyone to evacuate! R/n and Meimei wasted no time getting out of the stadium just in time to see Ultraman arrive and punch the Kaiju away from the stadium. R/n stood back to watch them fight for a few moments before a hysterical Meimei dragged her away...
{Cut to a few hours later}
R/n was finishing up a few late night deliveries, some of her coworker didn't want to come in due to the monster attack so R/n was forced to take over their shifts. She had just finished delivering cat-food to a nice old lady, when she got a call from Mr. Sato he wanted donuts and coffee.
R/n sighed and went to work she pulled up to Ken's home on the old delivery scooter the boss had rusting in the back seeing as it was a small delivery, it was raining heavily by the time she pulled up to the house. R/n walked up and knocked the door Mr. Sato opened the door and looked startled to see her.
"Uh, What are you doing here so late?" He asked looking around his driveway, R/n cocked a brow and held up his order like it should be obvious. "Yeah, I know...But it's usually the old guy that delivers this late." R/n explained he took the night off she was filing in, Ken reluctantly took the donuts when he notices how wet her uniform was and looked outside again and noticed the rusty scooter just chilling in his driveway and frowned.
"You didn't drive all the way up here on that thing did you?" R/n just shrugged Mr. Sato looked like he was going invite her in or something, but they were interrupted by a weird cry coming from somewhere in the house. "What was that?" R/n inquired bouncing on her toes trying to look over his shoulder, the baseball player got this 'oh crap' look on his face as he quickly blocked her view.
"Uh, Nothing, j-just my TV! Here's your tip!" R/n's phone pinged the delivery girl's usual calm demeanor was replaced with one of panic as she tried to explain that Japan doesn't practice tipping! Only for her eyes widened in shock the amount he sent her. "...And e-Even if we did do tips, I think you overdid-" Mr. Sato quickly cuts her off. "No I didn't!" and slammed the door in her face.
R/n blinked a few times as she looked between her phone and the door baffled after a few seconds of trying figure out what that all about? Before shrugging then walked back her scooter and drove off....
{Ken gave the reader about three hundred dollars.)
[Next time R/n finds out just what Mr. Sato was hiding in his house the encounter was both cute and terrifying.]

A Chance for Redemption
—A mysterious high school student appears out of the blue, bearing the face of the late Martha Wayne and puzzling even Gotham’s greatest detectives.
[chapter 1]
| Platonic!Yandere!Batfam x Reader
| Inspired by the work of @e-nonsense “GHOST OF A LONG GONE WOMAN”
The Gotham City skyline stretched across the horizon, its towering structures standing as silent guardians in the night. Inside the dimly lit study of Wayne Manor, Bruce Wayne sat alone amidst shadows that mirrored the complexities of his own mind.
A sudden beep from the Batcomputer broke the stillness. Bruce glanced at the screen, and his piercing gaze narrowed at the news report flashing across the monitor. The headline sent a ripple through him.
"Wayne Heiress Emerges: Striking Resemblance to Late Martha Wayne. Who is she?"
His heartbeat quickened as images of the young girl filled the screen. The uncanny resemblance to his late mother, Martha, struck him like a blow. The gentle curve of her smile, the warmth in her eyes — it was as if a much younger version of Martha had been reborn in a face he had never known.
For a moment, the air in the study thickened with silence. Bruce's jaw tightened, and a flood of memories surged, carrying him back to the night of his parents' tragedy. He saw Martha's face, radiant and full of life, before the darkness took her away. Now, that same face stared back at him from the screen.
"What is this?" Bruce muttered to himself, his fingers tapping impatiently on the polished surface of the mahogany desk.
With a decisive gesture, he rose from his seat and moved toward the Batcave. Alfred, his ever-watchful confidant, observed the turmoil in Bruce's eyes.
"Master Wayne, might I inquire about the cause of your distress?" Alfred's calm voice cut through the tension.
Bruce handed Alfred a tablet displaying the news report. As Alfred scanned the images, the lines on his forehead deepened in concern.
"An unexpected development, sir. Shall I investigate further?" Alfred offered, his loyalty unwavering.
"No, Alfred. I'll handle this myself,"
In the heart of the Batcave, surrounded by the symbols of his dual life, Bruce Wayne accessed the Batcomputer with purpose, initiating a search that would unravel the truth behind the possible Wayne heiress.
As information unfolded on the screen, Bruce's stoic demeanor flickered with a kaleidoscope of emotions. The mystery of his potential blood-related daughter, bearing the face of his beloved mother, demanded answers that eluded even the World's Greatest Detective.
In the shadows of Wayne Manor, a silent storm brewed. All veiled behind the haunting gaze of a daughter who bore the visage of a long-lost woman.

The weapon designer
Pairing: Hoshina Soshiro x reader
Summary: What happens when Gen Narumi's sister meets Vice-Captain Hoshina in person.
Tumblr media
--
Y/N Narumi smoothed down the creases of her sleek, midnight blue mini dress as she stepped out of the car, her gaze sweeping over the formidable structure of the Defense Force headquarters. This was her first visit to the base, accompanying her brother, Captain Gen Narumi, who had a crucial meeting with Captain Mina Ashiro and Vice-Captain Hoshina Soshiro.
Being the head designer responsible for crafting innovative weaponry for the Defense Force, Y/N was accustomed to commanding attention. Her attire today—a tailored dress that accentuated her figure with just the right amount of flair and her Rene Caovilla butterflies crystal-embellished high sandals —was a testament to her love for fashion and her penchant for making a statement.
"Are you nervous, Gen?" Y/N teased, her voice light as she linked her arm with her brother's.
Gen chuckled, his own uniform crisp and impeccable. "Not at all. Just another day at the office."
As they entered the base, Y/N's eyes widened at the bustling activity around her. Soldiers in uniform hurried past, their expressions a mix of determination and duty. The hum of activity filled the air, punctuated by the occasional sound of machinery and distant chatter.
They were escorted to Captain Mina Ashiro's office, where the atmosphere was a blend of efficiency and authority. Captain Ashiro, a commanding figure with a sharp gaze, greeted them with a nod, her attention immediately drawn to the detailed portfolio Y/N carried.
"Captain Narumi, good to see you," Captain Ashiro said, her voice carrying a hint of respect for Gen's reputation. "And this must be your sister, Y/N."
Y/N smiled warmly, extending her hand. "Pleasure to meet you, Captain Ashiro. I've heard so much about your leadership."
Captain Ashiro's stern demeanor softened slightly as she shook Y/N's hand. "Likewise. Your designs for our weapons have been impressive."
Vice-Captain Hoshina Soshiro, standing nearby, observed the exchange with interest. "Your work is vital to our mission's success, Ms. Narumi," he commented, his tone appreciative.
Y/N's eyes sparkled with enthusiasm. "Thank you, Vice-Captain. I'm passionate about creating tools that ensure our forces have the best chance against the kaiju threat."
As the meeting progressed, discussing technical specifications and strategic deployments, Y/N couldn't help but steal glances at Vice-Captain Hoshina whenever he entered the room. His presence commanded attention, his posture exuding confidence and capability. She had seen pictures of him before but never in person, and she found herself captivated by his rugged good looks and the air of mystery that surrounded him.
After the meeting concluded, Y/N lingered near the exit with Gen, reviewing some final notes on her tablet. "You know, Gen," she remarked casually, "Vice-Captain Hoshina is even cuter in person."
Gen chuckled, shaking his head slightly. "I thought you might notice. He's quite popular among the recruits. And don't even think about it"
Y/N grinned mischievously. "Popular is an understatement. I have had a crush on him since I saw his profile, and don't make it seem like it's all forbidden, that just makes it hot."
Her brother chuckled again, a twinkle of amusement in his eyes. "I'm not letting my sisters get with that guy, forget about it, weren't you dating that CEO of that car company, the old guy?"
Y/N rolled her eyes playfully. "Oh we broke up, too jealous, have I told you that he had kids ? I'm too young to commite to that, and he tried to offer me those cheap Tiffany & Co. necklace, silver, it was silver Gen."
--
The Defense Force's newest innovations were on display in a sleek, high-tech showroom within the headquarters. Rows of prototype suits lined the room, each gleaming with the promise of enhanced protection and agility against the relentless kaiju threat. It was a momentous occasion, and Y/N Narumi, alongside her brother Gen, stood at the heart of it all.
Y/N, dressed to impress in an exquisite crimson dress that hugged her curves and accentuated her poise, was the embodiment of elegance amid the cutting-edge technology. Her heels clicked lightly on the polished floor as she moved from one suit to another, her eyes sparkling with pride and excitement.
"These designs are revolutionary, Y/N," Gen remarked, his voice tinged with admiration as he examined the intricate details of a suit.
Y/N beamed, her gaze sweeping over the room. "Thank you, Gen. It's been a labor of love. I'm thrilled to see them come to life like this."
The room buzzed with chatter as Defense Force personnel and invited guests mingled, discussing the capabilities of the new suits and the implications for future missions. Y/N's attention, however, was drawn to Vice-Captain Soshiro Hoshina, who stood in deep conversation with Captain Mina Ashiro and Vice-Captain Eiji Hasegawa.
She couldn't deny the thrill that surged through her as she watched him, his presence commanding attention even in the midst of the crowd. His rugged good looks and aura of confidence had always intrigued her, and tonight was no exception.
As the formal presentation concluded, the atmosphere shifted to a more relaxed tone. Waitstaff circulated with trays of gourmet appetizers and glasses of champagne, adding to the celebratory ambiance. Y/N found herself by Gen's side, a glass of champagne in hand, her cheeks flushed with a combination of excitement and the effects of the bubbly drink.
"Cheers to a successful presentation," Gen toasted, raising his glass.
Y/N clinked her glass against his, her laughter bubbling forth. "Cheers indeed, Gen. I couldn't have done it without your support."
As they sipped their champagne, Y/N's gaze drifted back to where Soshiro was now engaged in conversation with another officer. She felt a playful nudge from Gen, who leaned in with a teasing grin. "I see you eyeing Vice-Captain Hoshina."
Y/N rolled her eyes playfully. "Can you blame me? He's rather handsome, isn't he?"
Gen chuckled, shaking his head. "Just be careful, Y/N. He's not exactly known for commitment."
Y/N raised an eyebrow, her tone teasing. "Who said anything about commitment? I'm just admiring the view."
Before Gen could respond, Soshiro glanced in their direction, his eyes meeting Y/N's. A slow, confident smile spread across his face as he excused himself from his conversation and made his way over to them.
"Captain Narumi, Ms. Narumi" Soshiro greeted, his voice smooth. "Congratulations on the impressive designs. They look even better up close."
Y/N felt her heart skip a beat at his compliment. "Thank you, Vice-Captain Hoshina. I'm glad you approve, you can call me Y/N."
Soshiro's gaze lingered on her, his eyes flickering with a hint of mischief. "I must admit, Y/N, you clean up quite nicely. I don't think I've said it yet, but you look beautiful, you don't have ever use an uniform of some sort?"
Y/N chuckled, the effects of the champagne emboldening her. "Me? Those clothes hide me too much, not for me, and besides, and can do my job perfectly with my own clothes, you can be smart and good looking you know ? I have a closet full of surprises."
Soshiro raised an eyebrow, his grin widening. "Is that so? I look forward to it."
Gen cleared his throat pointedly, his expression growing more serious. "Vice-Captain Hoshina, we appreciate your kind words about Y/N's work, but perhaps it's time we let her mingle with the other guests."
Y/N shot Gen a playful glance, her lips curved in a knowing smile. "Oh, don't mind Gen. He's just protective."
Soshiro's eyes twinkled with amusement as he turned to Gen. "Of course, Captain Narumi. Wouldn't want to keep you from your sister's admirers."
With a polite nod, Soshiro excused himself and disappeared into the crowd, leaving Y/N and Gen standing in silence. Y/N couldn't help but notice the tension in Gen's shoulders, his protective instincts clearly riled by Soshiro's flirtatious demeanor.
"Gen," Y/N began, her tone gentle, "you know I can handle myself."
Gen sighed, his expression softening. "I know, Y/N. It's just… I worry about you."
Y/N reached out, placing a reassuring hand on his arm. "I appreciate that, but I'm not a child anymore. I can take care of myself."
Gen nodded slowly, his gaze searching hers. "I know. It's just hard to see you all grown up sometimes."
Y/N smiled warmly. "I'll always be your little sister, Gen. But I'm also an officer of the Defense Force. And tonight, I'm celebrating a job well done. And that cute Vice-Captain is all over me you think I'll let him get away?" She said as she drank the last portion of champagne she had on her glass.
As they continued to mingle with the guests, Y/N felt a sense of pride swell within her. She had come a long way from the little girl who dreamed of designing weapons to protect her loved ones. Tonight, surrounded by innovation and ambition, she knew she was exactly where she belonged.
And as for Vice-Captain Hoshina? Well, he certainly knew how to keep things interesting.
The night wore on, filled with laughter, camaraderie, and the promise of future collaborations. Y/N watched as Soshiro mingled effortlessly with the crowd, his presence drawing people in like moths to a flame. She couldn't deny the attraction she felt towards him, nor could she ignore the way he made her heart race with just a smile.
As the lively celebration continued in the Defense Force headquarters, Y/N found a moment to slip away unnoticed. With a mischievous smile playing on her lips, she quickly scribbled her phone number and the name of the hotel and room number that she was staying at on a small piece of paper. Folding it neatly, she tucked it into the palm of her hand.
Spotting Soshiro engaged in conversation across the room, she waited for the perfect opportunity. When the crowd momentarily shifted, she subtly approached him, her heart pounding with a mix of nerves and excitement.
"Soshiro," she murmured, her voice low to avoid attention. "I have something for you."
He turned towards her, surprise flickering in his eyes as she slipped the folded paper into his hand with a playful wink. Before he could react, Y/N turned on her heel and disappeared into the crowd, her pulse racing with anticipation.
Soshiro unfolded the paper, his lips quirking into a grin as he read her message. He glanced around discreetly, ensuring no one was watching, and slipped away from the gathering.
--
She was already in the room when Soshiro arrived, away from prying eyes. The air was charged with the excitement of their clandestine meeting, the faint hum of the city providing a backdrop to their conversation.
"So, Y/N," Soshiro began, his tone laced with amusement. "You're full of surprises."
Y/N chuckled softly, her eyes sparkling in the dim light. "What can I say? I like to keep things interesting."
They talked late into the night, exchanging stories and laughter, their connection growing stronger with each passing moment. The tension between them crackled like electricity, a magnetic pull drawing them closer together.
"And here I thought you were just another officer with a knack for designing weapons," Soshiro remarked, his gaze intense as it locked with hers.
Y/N grinned, a playful glint in her eyes. "Maybe I'm more than meets the eye."
Their banter faded into a comfortable silence, the unspoken desire hanging in the air between them. Without a word, Soshiro closed the distance between them, his hand gentle as it cupped her cheek. Y/N's breath caught in her throat as she leaned into his touch, her heart racing with anticipation.
Their lips met in a tender kiss, a culmination of unspoken longing and shared attraction. Both leaning to get to the bed as they deepened their kiss.
As they reached the bed, Y/N begins to undress, slowly removing her clothing, using the given opportunity, Soshiro begins to kiss her neck and lowering more and more.
"You better take that stupid suit out. " Y/N said, now panting as Soshiro was kissing her inner tights, getting up, he removes his suit letting it go on the ground to be forgotten.
They both lay down, kissing and letting their hands explore their bodies, only the moon giving them light from the window of the room.
--
Meanwhile, back inside the headquarters, Gen Narumi noticed Y/N's absence from the festivities. He exchanged a knowing glance with Captain Mina Ashiro, a silent understanding passing between them.
"Have you seen Hoshina?" Gen asked casually, though a flicker of concern colored his tone.
Mina shook her head, her gaze scanning the room. "Not recently. Why?"
Gen's brow furrowed slightly as he pieced together the puzzle. "My sister's missing."
Understanding dawned in Mina's eyes, a knowing smile tugging at her lips. "And what does Hoshina have too do with that?"
"Because I'm aware that my little sister can be very persuasive, and that Vice-Captain of yours doesn't seem to know where to keep his hands" Gen said as clutching his fists "I'm to kill him when I see that that abnoxious ass."

The Petelia Tablet, Greek, c.300-200 BCE: this totenpass (a "passport for the dead") was meant to be buried in a human grave; it bears an inscription that tells the dead person exactly where to go and what to say after crossing into the Greek Underworld
Tumblr media
Made from a sheet of gold foil, this tablet measures just 4.5cm (a little over 1.5 inches) in length, and although it was found inside a pendant case in Petelia, Italy, it's believed to have originated in ancient Greece. It was meant to aid the dead in their journey through the Underworld -- providing them with specific instructions, conferring special privileges, and granting them access to the most coveted realms within the afterlife.
Tumblr media
The Petelia tablet, displayed with the pendant case in which it was discovered
The tablet itself dates back to about 300-200 BCE, while the pendant case/chain that accompanies it was likely made about 400 years later, during the Roman era. It's believed that the tablet was originally buried with the dead, and that an unknown individual later removed it from the burial site and stuffed it into the pendant case. Unfortunately, in order to make it fit, they simply rolled it up and then snipped off the tip of the tablet. The final lines of the inscription were destroyed in the process.

These textual amulets/lamellae are often referred to as totenpässe ("passports for the dead"). They were used as roadmaps to help guide the dead through the Underworld, but they also served as indicators of the elite/divine status of certain individuals, ultimately providing them with the means to obtain an elevated position in the afterlife.
The Petelia tablet is incised with an inscription in ancient Greek, and the translated inscription reads:
You will find a spring on your left in Hades’ halls, and by it the cypress with its luminous sheen.
Do not go near this spring or drink its water. You will find another, cold water flowing from Memory’s lake; its guardians stand before it.
Say: "I am a child of Earth and starry Heaven, but descended from Heaven; you yourselves know this. I am parched with thirst and dying: quickly, give me the cool water flowing from Memory’s lake."
And they will give you water from the sacred spring, and then you will join the heroes at their rites.
This is [the ... of memory]: [on the point of death] ... write this ... the darkness folding [you] within it.
The final section was damaged when the tablet was shoved into the pendant case; sadly, that part of the inscription does not appear on any of the other totenpässe that are known to exist, so the meaning of those lines remains a mystery (no pun intended).
Lamellae that are inscribed with this motif are very rare. They're known as "Orphic lamellae" or simply "Orphic tablets." As the name suggests, these inscriptions are traditionally attributed to an Orphic-Bacchic mystery cult.
The inscriptions vary, but they generally contain similar references to a cypress tree, one spring that must be avoided, another spring known as the "Lake of Memory," the sensation of thirst, and a conversation with a guardian (or another entity within the Underworld, such as the goddess Persephone) in which the dead must present themselves as initiates or divine individuals in order to be granted permission to drink from the Lake of Memory. They are thereby able to obtain privileges that are reserved only for the elite.
Though the specifics of this reward are often vague, it may have been viewed as a way to gain access to the Elysian Fields (the ancient Greek version of paradise) or as a way to participate in sacred rites; some totenpässe suggest that it may have allowed the soul to break free from the eternal cycle of reincarnation. Regardless, the overall objective was likely the same: to obtain a special status and acquire privileges that were inaccessible to most of the souls in the Underworld.

You weren’t sure how long you and Tyler remained seated in the front of his truck with your lips pressed against each other, but far sooner than you would have liked, you heard Boone shouting from outside, “Hey, love birds! You’ll wanna see this!”
Reluctantly, you broke away from Tyler, both of you panting slightly as you gazed at each other. Then he winked before undoing his harness and climbing out of the truck. You took a deep breath, unhooked your own harness (after a momentary struggle), and opened the truck door.
The winds still rustled gently over the field as you eased out of the truck, your feet standing on the running board as you leaned against the door. About 100 yards in front of you, the tornado continued to twist and twirl through the grass as it made its way away from the truck. Now that your initial fear of driving into it had passed, you were really able to appreciate the magnificence and raw power of the towering wall of wind. It truly was a wonder of nature and you understood why people came from all over just to experience this moment.
You, Tyler, and Boone continued to watch the storm until it began to collapse several minutes later. The death of the tornado was in some ways just as beautiful as the raging storm itself. And as the last of the funnel disappeared, leaving nothing but dark clouds and a band of rain where it had once stood, it felt like a spell was broken as the world around you exhaled.
Looking at you from the other side of the truck, Tyler grinned. “Well, sweetheart, what did you think?”
“That was fucking amazing!” you cried as you jumped down from the truck. “It was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced in my life! Oh my god, Tyler, thank you!”
As you reached him, you threw yourself into his arms, squeezing him tightly and burying your face in his neck. He laughed as he twirled you around and you could feel his heart racing in his chest, fueled by the same adrenaline that was flooding your system.
When he stopped, you lifted your head. He was staring right at you, his green eyes sparkling like the stars he had shown you the night you met, his smile so wide that his dimples were on full display. You had never seen someone so breathtaking and full of life before. It was intoxicating.
He must have been thinking the same thing about you.
Tracing his fingers down the side of your face, he murmured, “What are you thanking me for? Chasing the storm…or the kiss?”
You licked your lips as you stared at his and whispered, “Both.”
“Good.” Tyler bent his head down until his mouth just barely hovered over yours. “As long as there’s no regrets.”
“Just that we waited so long to do this.” And you pressed your lips against his.
You were still kissing when you heard several vehicles pull up beside you. You looked up to see Dani, Dexter, and Lily leaning out their windows, cheering and catcalling as they watched you and Tyler.
Tyler took a step towards them, his hands raised, “All right, all right. Y’all had your fun.”
“Looks like you two did too,” Dani smirked as she held up a tablet and hopped out of her van.
“I’m sorry we kind of ruined your video,” you said, sinking sheepishly into yourself.
“Ruined it?” Dexter chuckled. “We already have more views after twenty minutes than most of our videos get after being posted for a month.”
“Really?” You reached out to take the tablet from Dani so you could look, but she drew it into her chest.
“Um…you might not want to look at the comments.”
Your smile evaporated as you looked around at each of the Wranglers. “Oh. But I thought you said…”
Lily hesitated, fiddling with the goggles she just pulled off her head. “They liked the video but some people are just a little…” She hesitated as she struggled to find the right word.
Dani snorted, “They’re jealous. Tyler’s fangirls weren’t too happy seeing him swapping spit with the pretty new girl while they had to just sit there and watch.”
“Oh,” you blinked. That was not the answer you had been expecting.
Tyler placed his hand gently on the back of your arm. “We can go through and delete those comments and make sure everyone knows we don’t stand for that kind of stuff on our page.”
You shrugged. “Let ‘em talk.”
“Really?” Tyler asked, his brow furrowing under the brim of his cowboy hat.
“Yeah,” you grinned. “If the cost of me getting to do this is a little online hate, I’ll gladly pay that price.” Then you planted another big kiss on his lips.
Tyler wrapped himself around your waist and the next thing you knew, he dipped you backward, his muscular arms the only thing keeping you from crashing to the ground. It felt like a scene straight out of a romance novel. The Cowboy and the College Girl.
Yet this was better than any romance novel because it was real. Tyler was real and he was kissing you and it was everything you had wanted since he drew you into his chest as you cried under the stars in the back of his truck the night you met. And you never wanted it to end.
Tumblr media
Everyone was hungry after the morning of excitement so Dexter ducked into the camper van and reappeared several minutes later with a plate of sandwiches and individual bags of chips. Everyone else grabbed folding chairs from their vehicles, but Tyler lowered the tailgate of his truck, sat on the edge, and pulled you into his lap. You were a little uncomfortable at first, being so brazen in front of the rest of the crew, but you quickly settled back against his chest as you ate. Already, you felt like you just fit perfectly in his arms and you couldn’t stop the smile from stretching across your face as you chewed.
The other Wranglers exchanged a few looks and soft snickers, but they didn’t say anything. It was only as everyone was finishing up, that Boone addressed the elephant in the field.
“So, is this gonna be a thing now?”
“Boone—” Tyler’s voice had a slight warning edge.
His friend held up his hands. “I don’t mean nothing by it, I’m just wondering.”
Before Tyler could answer, you leaned back so you could look at him directly. “You know, I’d like to know the answer to that too.”
There were a few ‘ooo’s’ from Dani and Lily, but Tyler ignored them. Holding your gaze, his green eyes shining with open sincerity, he said, “How about I like you a lot and am excited to get to see where this goes?”
“Yeah, I’m good with that.” He leaned down and gently kissed you on the lips. When he sat back up, you smiled. “You know, I’ve never been with a Southern cowboy before. It’s already been such a big change having a guy come pick me up each morning or walk me to my room every night.” Nudging his side, you added, “You might regret that because I’m starting to expect it.”
He grinned, his dimples on full display, and dipped his head. “Yes, ma’am.”
You settled back, snuggling into him as his arms tightened around you.
“Aww!” Lily said. “You two are so cute together!”
“Yeah, just be careful you don't invite him in when he walks you to your room,” Dani teased.
Tyler rolled his eyes. “Oh, shut up.”
Everyone else started laughing but you had clearly missed something. “Um, why shouldn't I do that?”
Tyler sighed. “It’s nothing. They're all just idiots.”
Boone grinned at his friend’s annoyance. “Tyler said back in his rodeo days, the whole circuit traveled all over the country for competitions, staying in cheap motels like we do now.”
Dani leaned on Boone’s shoulder and picked up his story. “And whenever they’d hire a new girl to travel with ‘em, they’d warn her ‘don’t invite one of the cowboys into your room unless you plan on him spending the night’.”
“I never should have told y’all about that,” Tyler grumbled under his breath. Louder, he said, “It’s been a running joke since then. Even though it’s not true—” he shot Boone and Dani a sharp glare, and they held up their hands “—they never let me forget it. But I’m perfectly capable of going into a person’s room at night and leaving before the next morning.”
“Oh, so you’re love-’em-and-leave-’em kind of guy,” Dani said, nodding. “Nice.”
“Fuck you,” Tyler growled, tensing beneath you. It was obvious Dani was just teasing, but you had gotten to know Tyler well enough to know respect and courtesy meant a lot to him. And even just the insinuation that he might not treat you the way you ought to be treated hit a nerve.
Placing one hand on his thigh, you gave it a tight squeeze. His face had lost all of the happiness it had just a moment ago, but you gave him a warm smile, hopefully reassuring him you knew the kind of man he was.
Then, you turned back to the rest of the Wranglers. Popping a chip into your mouth, you asked, “So…any of you ever invite Tyler in just to test out that theory?”
Everyone was quiet for a moment. Then Lily spoke up. “No…but he does share a room with Boone.”
Boone’s head shot up at the sound of his name. He had started fiddling with his camera when things got tense between Dani and Tyler, so he blinked, clearly trying to figure out what he had missed. Then, with a huge smile, he exclaimed, “Oh yeah! Ty and I always share a room. Sleeping with a friend is much better than sleeping alone.”
There was a pause before everyone burst out laughing. Boone looked around, not quite understanding the joke. As the conversation shifted into poking fun at Boone and the other Wranglers’ sleeping arrangements, Tyler pressed his lips into your hair, just above your ear, and whispered, “Thank you.”
You could already feel the tension easing out of him and you squeezed his leg again in acknowledgement. After all the times you had leaned on Tyler for support in the last few days, it felt nice to actually be able to do something for him for a change.
Tumblr media
The rest of the afternoon, you rode next to Tyler as the crew looked for another storm to chase. Boone had made some excuse about needing to talk to Lily about the quality of their live stream so he rode in her van. You weren't sure whether that was his idea or Tyler’s, but you weren’t complaining about having a bit of alone time with the lead Tornado Wrangler.
It seemed now that the line had been crossed, neither of you could keep your hands to yourselves. The confined space of the truck cabin along with the restrictive nature of your seat belts limited your methods of contact but you still found ways around those obstacles: While Tyler told you about growing up in Texas, you nodded along as you trailed your fingers through his hair. While you explained what you were going to school for and what you wanted to do after graduation, he smiled and played with the strap of your tank top. While you both discussed your favorite movies and music, your hands were linked across the center console.
By the time Tyler pulled into a motel for the night, your body was aching for more of him. At one point, you had to force yourself not to squeeze your legs together or let out a soft moan as he rested his hand on your bare thigh just below the frayed cutoff bottoms of your shorts. Yet you couldn’t stop your toes from curling in your boots as he began absentmindedly rubbing his thumb in circles over your skin. As soon as you got the key to your room, you were going to have to take a very lengthy cold shower.
But it wasn’t just the physical moments that had your heart racing as you climbed out of the truck. There was never a moment of awkward silence or uncomfortableness, just effortless, engaging conversation and laughter. You had learned so much more about the cowboy and every little new thing just made you like him all the more.
After Tyler helped you out of the truck, he left to book the rooms for the night. You unloaded a few of the bags out of the back—including your own—and looked around. Strangely, you didn’t see the faintest trace of Storm PAR. None of their vehicles were in the parking lot and you couldn’t spot a single one of their signature polos mingling around in the crowd of people settling in after the day of chasing.
Hopefully something hadn’t happened in the field today…
“Hey.” You turned to see Lily approaching, holding out a piece of paper folded into a small square. “I saw Javi when we stopped for gas. He asked me to give this to you. Said Storm PAR is staying on the other end of town tonight.”
Think of the devil… You took the paper from her. “Did he say why?”
“No, but I sort of got the impression he was in a hurry to get back to his truck so I didn’t ask.”
“Okay. Thanks.”
As Lily walked away, you opened the note. The handwriting was a bit sloppy and hard to decipher, almost as if it were scrawled in a hurry, but you read:
He’ll deny it, but Scott watched today. Might want to keep your distance for a while.
You smiled as you reread it. Yeah, Scott probably wasn’t too happy to see you locking lips with Tyler and you were sure to get an earful about that at some point, but Scott had watched the stream. Maybe it was just so he could say he told you so and rub it in everyone’s face if you chickened out, but you couldn’t help but think—hope—that he might have been watching because he was worried for your safety. Could it be that your big brother cared about you after all?
“What’s got you so smiley?”
You looked up and held out the note for Tyler to see as he got closer. “You might want to avoid my brother for a few days. Seems he caught our little make-out session this morning and I have a feeling if he didn’t hate you before, he does now.”
“I’m not worried. I can handle Scotty.” He wrapped his arms around you and pulled you in, twisting you so your back pressed against his chest. Then he rested his chin on your shoulder. “But how are you feeling about him seeing that?”
“I’m…good. When I first got here and came up with this stupid plan, I would have been thrilled that he saw us. I would have tracked him down and rubbed it in his face just to see his blood boil. But now—” you tilted your head and nuzzled it against Tyler’s “—I don’t care what he thinks or how he’s reacting. I don’t want to waste any more of my energy on him. I just want to focus on us.”
“Hmmm,” Tyler hummed, the sound vibrating through your body. “‘Us’. I like the sound of that.”
“Not too presumptuous?”
“Not at all,” he said, tightening his arms around your waist. “I’d be more than happy to be part of an us with you.”
The two of you remained standing by Tyler’s truck, swaying gently wrapped in each other’s arms for several minutes. You would have stayed there all night if you could, but the adrenaline of the day began wearing off and you struggled to keep your eyes open. Reluctantly, you whispered, “I think I should be heading to my room.”
Tyler nodded against you. “Would you like an escort?”
“Always.”
He gave you one final squeeze before releasing you. Then he grabbed your backpack from where you had tossed it on the ground earlier, and he threw his other arm across your shoulders. Walking with your head resting on his chest, the two of you made your way across the parking lot and up the stairs to your room. It was becoming a familiar routine but this time the walk seemed too short and, in no time, you were standing in front of your door.
You opened it and turned to face Tyler. “Thank you for everything today. The storm a-and us.”
He reached out and brushed his thumb across your cheekbone. “I’m just sorry I waited. I shoulda kissed you the first night after I walked you to your room or when we were lying in the back of my truck. I knew then that I wanted there to be an us.”
“Me too.” Pressing your forehead against his, your eyes fluttered closed as you whispered, “Why does it feel like I’ve known you for years when it’s only been three days?”
He hummed back, “I don’t know, but I feel it too. Like...you’ve always been here with me. Is that crazy?”
“No. It’s a bit sappy but also romantic as fuck.”
Tyler snorted, the brief burst of air tickling your nose. Then he whispered, “I should go.”
You nodded, opening your eyes. You didn’t want him to leave but the intensity and speed at which your feelings for him were developing almost scared you and you knew inviting him to stay was not what was best for either of you right now.
Yet as he reached for your hand, you pulled it away. With a sly smile, you said, “Uh uh. Tonight, I want a real kiss goodnight.”
Tyler grinned, flashing his dimples. “Whatever you want, sweetheart.”
Wrapping his hand around the back of your neck, he pulled you into his lips. Though the two of you had been kissing throughout the day, none of them had been like this. There was a heat, a fire burning under his skin that had never been there before. He pressed into you, his body flush against yours, and you couldn’t hold back as you moaned into his mouth. All of the need you had been feeling in his truck came rushing back, and you could feel the tension already building in your core.
But just as you began maneuvering so you could grind against his thigh, Tyler pulled back. You gasped at the sudden loss and looked at him, mouth agape. He just smiled and whispered, “Think of me tonight, sweetheart. I know I’ll be thinking of you.” Then, he was gone.
For the third night in a row, you went to bed cursing that son of a bitch who was quickly stealing your heart.

Admirer from the past...
Tumblr media
TW: blood, mention of dead bodies and stalking/obsessive behaviour
An expert crime fighter. One of the youngest CEOs. A skilled detective. As good as the Bat. Maybe even better than him.
Tim often found himself conversing with police officers and other detectives that were actually qualified unlike him. Discussing the crime scene, the criminal, the victim, and the next course of action. They all respected Tim and were willing to work together.
One night Tim found himself standing amongst the chaos of the press, the solemn faces of detectives and officers and a name written in blood covering the footpath along with other gory things... The crimson letters painting the cement were a confronting display.
It was the works of a new villain, one that had only just started doing such things two weeks ago. He was one of the most psychotic men Tim had ever dealt with. And it seemed he had a nasty obsession with some poor girl, given he was constantly leaving dead bodies and flowers strewn across Gotham City dedicated to her.
Honestly, the situation twisted Tim's stomach, making him all the more adamant on finding this fucked up guy in hopes of sparing his target the fear and trauma.
Tim kept to himself as he tried to analyse the scene, picking up clues and taking his own samples. That was until the screech of tires on the road caught his attention. Turning to look over his shoulder, he saw another well known detective pull up beside the crime scene and hastily get out of his car. And with him a woman. Tim quickly let his eyes glance over you. You wore a fitted suit, golden hoops and your hair thrown up into a french twist. Throwing your trench coat over your shoulders, you hurriedly followed the detective with an unimpressed look on your face.
"If you haven't even caught the assailant yet, why am I here Harry?" You asked before you fell into step with your co-worker and friend. He was almost like an older brother to you.
"Because, I need your input. Your analysis. This guy is a fucking nut and we have no idea how to predict what he's gonna do next."
Intelligence and class seemed to drip off of you, and Tim was immediately smitten interested in you. He even found himself wondering if you were seeing the man you had arrived with.
Surely not, he was old enough to be your father.
You and Harry ducked under the police tape, your hands in your pockets and eyes trained on the gruesome scene. Black roses coated in thick blood decorated the ground around your boots. You instantly grimaced.
Harry made his way over to the group and greeted Tim first.
"Red Robin." He said with a nod.
"Detective." Tim said back, eyes still trained on you.
You turned in a circle to take it all in before nearing the group. "So, do we have anything on this guy?"
"Red Robin managed to hack into one of the shops security systems. The one across the street. With the footage he retrieved, we can see this sick bastard commit the crime, but his face is obscured."
You were watching Red Robin as the officer spoke, a little taken aback to see a vigilante standing in front of you. Let alone one of the bats.
"Can I see the footage?" You asked, eyes gazing back at his.
Tim swallowed hard. Your eye contact was unwavering, and he could feel a blush begin to creep onto his face.
"Miss, are you even a detective or-"
"Of course." Tim cut the officer off, handing you the tablet that sat atop a police car.
"It's fine," Harry said with the wave of his hand, "She's with me. She knows what she's doing."
Tim watched you analyse the footage. The man was wearing a cap, and some sort of odd make-up was smeared across his face. It might have even be blood you thought. You attentively watched the criminals behaviour. His mannerisms. The odd tick in his left shoulder. The limp in his right leg.
"Anything?" Tim asked.
His voice was like wine and you couldn't help but breathe in his cologne. You might come along to see these crime scenes more often.
"There's something." You admit with the furrow of your brows. "The way he moves. I can't put my finger on it though..."
Tim observed the badge clipped to the collar of your shirt. Although he could read what your occupation was, your coat was covering your name.
"Forensic psychologist?"
What a stupid moment to be making small talk. He began to chastise himself and his lack of charisma, but you didn't seem to mind, much to his relief.
"Mhm. Know what that is?" You teased, anticipating the Red Robin's response.
Tim smirked. "No actually, never heard of it."
You gave a light laugh and Tim felt he had to keep the conversation going.
"Are you new at this?" He asked. "I haven't seen you before."
"Not really," you replied with a soft smile. "It's my second year."
"Yeah, and she beats everyone in the game." Harry called out with a chuckle. You tried to hide your blush, but your humility mixed with your attempt to hide your reaction made Tim like you even more.
But the longer you watched the footage it suddenly dawned on you. The puzzles snapped together in your head and left you a little shocked. Tim immediately took note of the change in your demeanour.
"What is it?"
You held onto the tablet tightly. "I think I know who this is. The twitch. The limp. The hunched form and what he's doing..."
"Holy shit..." Harry said as the others all gawked at the writing on the ground.
Tim ignored them, focusing his full attention onto you.
"Back when I was just a psychologist. This guy came to me, I'm sure of it." You looked back up at Tim now, but before either of you could say anything, Harry called your name.
"You better get over here."
You and Red Robin joined the group, and as you looked down at the name on the footpath, your soul immediately dropped down to your feet.
"What's wrong?" Tim asked, looking up at Harry then at you. But now that you had moved, the name on your badge was revealed to Tim.
Everyone suddenly turned to look at you. And all you could do was stare down at the red letters before you.
"That's my name."

A Landscape Pixelartist reviews the XPPEN Artist Pro 14 (2nd Gen)! 🐦🌿
XPPEN was kind enough to send me this to finish my latest piece on; and it is here to stay for me to make more pixelart on it. Review below! ✍️ ———
Here are my thoughts using it for a week:
- The 1920x1200 Display makes drawing comfortable and manageable, while being amazingly bright and color accurate.
- The 16K-Pressure Pen draws responsively, along with its Felt-Tip Nibs—that comes with its Metal Case—feel very natural.
- It also comes with a Customizable Wireless Remote that can house all your shortcuts!
- The tablet itself has Built-In Foldable Legs that serves as a sufficient-enough stand.
- And my fave feature, is if your device has a USB-C port, you can plug it in using only *one cable*. ———
- The only problem I encounter is if the ambient room temp is quite warm, the tablet tends to heat up, especially around where the cable connects to it.
- I also suggest getting a separate stand that offers higher angles if you are prone to neck pain from looking down too often. ———
Tumblr media
Overall, The Certified Cluster Commando approves!
Thank you XPPEN for sending me this tablet for reviewing! ❤️
And as a bonus, they have given us a 5%-OFF Discount Code 'makrustic5' on products in their store!

Do you know the little fishes? (Charles Leclerc)
Charles' attention is drawn to the way you're invested in your home country's football qualifying game
Note: english is not my first language. I love me some football and I sort of channelled my energy from the last game we lost too! On the side, if you haven't already, you can read this one here where it goes well for the reader's team!
Thank you so much to everyone who likes and reblogs, your feedback is appreciated 🤍 and I'm taking requests so if you have any ideas or concepts you want to share, feel free to do so as I'll try to get to them the best I can!

Charles didn't mind watching the football despite Monaco not having their own national team. He often supported the country the people watching the game with him were supporting or the best nations throughout history in which he recognised the biggest legends of the sport.
However, when he met you, the perspective shifted, especially for your national team. No matter where you were in the world, you would get up at an ungodly hour to watch the football, kissing Charles' forehead and tucking the sheets back in as you moved to another part of the room, sometimes the living room part of the room was that big, your tablet in hand as you watched the game, trying your best to keep quiet as you knew your boyfriend needed his sleep.
"Amour, at what time is the game today?", Charles asked as he poured himself some water from the glass bottle. Because it was a night race, he didn't have to go to the paddock until after lunch, and since you were on the other side of the world, the football game was on at breakfast time.
"It's in thirty minutes", you smiled, "do you mind it if we have breaking the room instead of downstairs? Or you can go downstairs while I watch the football, I have some snacks from the plane", you quickly reassured.
Charles smiled, grabbing his phone and tapping in the hotel app, "like I'd let you watch the game on your own", he shook his head, "I know how important it is to you", he kissed your forehead, sitting next to you as you watched the players warm up on the TV, kissing the top of your head, "are you thinking eggs or something sweeter?".
"He's not playing?", Charles questioned as they recorded the players on the bench, "no, he picked up an injury in training, I'm not sure how we're going to do today", you mumbled, "but the guy that's going in his place is very good, he's a bit young but everyone says he's a prodigy", you attempted to lift your own spirits.
The breakfast arrived a little after the first kick, Charles getting it from the door and making sure to display it on the table in front of you without blocking your view, having been once hit with a pillow when he walked in front of the screen just as your team did the last penalty shoot out for the final round of qualifiers.
"Here's your latte, gorgeous", he said when the game was a little quieter, earning him a kiss on his cheek from you, "thank you, they're playing really well", you groaned as the other team kept approaching the goal.
It only took the opposing team a few minutes to score the first goal, the fans recorded on the stands erupting in cheer as you crossed your arms over your chest, straightening up your back and looking at the replay of the goal, seeing no issue and slumping your shoulders, "it's a good goal", you mumbled.
"Like you always say, there's still a lot of game to play, amour", Charles added as your eyes followed the ball, feeling his hand back on your thigh and squeezing it.
"C'mon, you can do better than that, I know you can!", you groaned as another ball hit the bar.
Rubbing your forehead in circles, you sighed as your team scored just before half-time, "this isn't going anywhere! Our defense is like a large fishing net, everyone can get through and skip throughout them! They need to be those fishing nets that they use to get the little fishes! Do you know the little fishes, Charles?", you showed him your fingers almost pinched together, "the holes in the fishing net are so so so tiny that no fish can escape!", you spoke passionately, getting up to use the bathroom quickly.
"They're all playing really well", you said as you noticed the players going back in the pitch, doing all sorts of exercises, "they're just trying to go from the wings and it's so much clearer on the middle section", you reasoned as Charles nodded, "maybe the coach told them in the dressing room, they all look like they've had their behind handed to them on a platter", Charles chuckled, "they deserve it", you smiled, resting your back against his chest.
"Now the referee? I mean, c'mon!", you grunted, seeing the man in the pink t-shirt run to the screen and analyse the footage, "Oh, it looks like it's a penalty", you admitted despite not loving the fact, "maybe he won't see it", you shrugged innocently.
"I'm sure they'll notice it, chérie", Charles offered, not reading into your sarcasm before you looked up at him, "a girl can dream, handsome, a girl can dream".
The second part kept growing in tension, the other team scoring twice in the space of five minutes after scoring the penalty, "I can't watch this anymore", you sighed, eyes focused on the screen as they were waiting to validate a goal, the offside lines not clear enough on the moment and requiring further analysis.
"It's impressive how much they can get to know with technologies these days", Charles chirped in, hoping to distract you enough to relax against his embrace, "they also waste a lot of time though. I timed the game a couple of months ago and they only had the ball rolling for a little over an hour in total. Imagine if you had to do fifteen laps under a safety car", you tried the comparison.
Luckily, the goal was indeed offside, but your team still couldn't manage to out the ball in the opponent's net.
"Is it bad if I say that we're being robbed even though the other team is playing better?", you squinted, seeing the referee had given an extra time of three minutes, the players just making sure the ball never left the middle of the pitch, trying to leave the score unaltered.
"It was a well disputed match still, they didn't have luck on their side", Charles said, rubbing your arm gently and kissing the side of your head as you waited to the final whistle.
When you got to the track, Carlos was the first one to come and talk to you, "so, Y/N, that face can only mean you've watched the football", he teased.
The frown was a little evident as soon as you didn't feel the public eye on you, knowing they would be quick to judge, "they did their best, and their best was a little bit shit today", you shrugged your shoulders, "sometimes it's like this", you quoted your boyfriend, taking comfort in his words you usually hated when they left his mouth.
"She was a great supporter though, she got up early, she had the stripes of paint on her cheeks, her scarf and her t-shirt", Charles noted, "she was the most dedicated, cheerful and the best supporter, it's a shame they didn't feel it!".
"Now I'm going to support Ferrari, and you boys better not disappoint me", you snickered, kissing Charles' lips one last time before they headed off to their meeting.

“Hearts Entwined and Torn”– Part 2
**Summary:**
After a mission goes awry, Amber faces blame from the X-Men and becomes increasingly isolated. Her emotional state deteriorates, leading to a panic attack that goes unnoticed, further deepening her sense of abandonment.
TRIGGER WARNING: Panic Attack
The weeks had turned into months, and the tension in the X-Mansion had only grown more palpable. Amber had buried herself in her duties, meticulously avoiding any personal interaction with Logan and Jean. Her interactions with them were curt and minimal, and she deliberately kept her distance. The mansion, once a sanctuary, had become a place of strained civility, where every glance and word seemed laden with unspoken resentment.
One fateful morning, the X-Men gathered for their mission briefing. The team was tasked with neutralizing a dangerous mutant causing havoc in a nearby city. The briefing was efficient and precise, but the usual camaraderie was absent. Amber and Jean were paired together for the mission due to an administrative mix-up, a situation that left Amber seething inwardly.
As the Blackbird soared through the night sky, the atmosphere in the cabin was fraught with tension. Amber sat at the far end of the cabin, her eyes fixed on the mission brief displayed on her tablet, pointedly ignoring Jean. Jean, too, avoided eye contact, her expression tense as she reviewed the mission parameters. The air was thick with unspoken animosity, and the silence was almost tangible.
The battle in the city was as brutal as it was chaotic. The mutant they faced was a formidable energy manipulator, able to project devastating blasts with precision. Despite their combined efforts, the mutant’s power was overwhelming. Amber and Jean found themselves cornered, their movements a strained dance of evasion and counterattacks.
“Watch out!” Amber shouted as the mutant launched another energy blast. She raised a protective shield just in time, but the mutant’s accuracy was deadly. Jean attempted to counter the blast with her telekinesis, but the force was too great, and her defenses buckled under the pressure.
A massive burst of energy hit Jean, sending her crashing into a nearby building. Amber’s attempt to shield her was too late; the blast had already struck its target. The shockwave threw Amber to the ground, and she scrambled to her feet, heart pounding.
The X-Men quickly subdued the mutant, but their focus soon shifted to Jean, who lay unconscious and injured amidst the rubble. The team rushed to her side, their expressions turning grim as they assessed her condition.
Storm knelt beside Jean, her voice steady but her eyes betraying her concern. “She’s hurt badly. We need to get her back to the mansion immediately.”
As the team gathered around Jean, Logan’s gaze shifted to Amber. His frustration was palpable. “Amber, why didn’t you do more to protect Jean?”
Amber’s eyes flashed with a mix of anger and disbelief. “I was doing my best, Logan. It wasn’t my fault.”
Logan’s face hardened, his lack of sympathy clear. “You were supposed to be her partner. If you had been more focused, this might not have happened.”
The rest of the X-Men murmured among themselves, the atmosphere thick with accusations. “If Amber had been more committed, this wouldn’t have happened,” said Kurt Wagner, also known as Nightcrawler. “She clearly has issues with Jean.”
Logan nodded in agreement. “It’s possible Amber’s personal feelings affected her performance,” he said, his voice lacking conviction.
Amber’s heart sank as she heard the murmurs of blame. The isolation she felt was suffocating. The mansion, once a home, now seemed like a prison. The cold stares and whispered accusations made her feel like a pariah.
In the medical bay, Hank McCoy worked tirelessly to stabilize Jean. Logan paced the room, clearly frustrated, but not showing any particular sympathy for Amber. Rogue, standing beside Hank, occasionally glanced at Amber with a mix of pity and suspicion.
Hank finally emerged from the operating room, his expression grave. “Jean’s stable for now, but her injuries are severe. She’ll need a long recovery.”
The team’s whispers grew louder, their accusatory tones more pronounced. “It’s clear Amber’s personal issues with Jean affected her performance,” Rogue said quietly. “She should have done more.”
Despite the growing chorus of blame, Amber remained isolated. The mansion’s communal areas became places she avoided, and she retreated to her room for meals and solitude. The once-familiar routines felt alien, and the growing divide between herself and the team was evident.
The isolation began to take its toll on Amber. Each day felt like a relentless wave of anxiety and despair, crashing over her and dragging her deeper into a state of emotional numbness. The whispers and accusations reverberated in her mind, fueling a growing sense of dread.
One evening, after another strained interaction with the team, Amber retreated to her room, the weight of the day pressing heavily on her shoulders. Her anxiety was a constant, gnawing presence, and it only intensified as she closed the door behind her. She sat on the edge of her bed, her hands trembling as she tried to steady her breathing.
Her thoughts spiraled uncontrollably, a chaotic mix of guilt, shame, and loneliness. She felt trapped in a nightmare where every misstep seemed magnified and every failure insurmountable. The walls of her room felt like they were closing in, and her chest tightened with the onset of an anxiety attack.
Amber’s breathing grew rapid and shallow, her vision blurring as the room seemed to spin around her. Her hands clutched her chest, trying in vain to calm the storm inside. The panic was overwhelming, and she struggled to get a grip on her racing thoughts. Tears streamed down her face as she gasped for air, her mind screaming for relief.
Her vision darkened at the edges, and she felt a dizzying sensation that only compounded her fear. Her heart raced uncontrollably, and she felt herself slipping away from consciousness. With a final, anguished cry, she collapsed onto the bed, her body limp and unresponsive.
The room was eerily silent, the only sound the faint hum of the mansion’s machinery outside her door. No one came to check on her, and the isolation was complete. The mansion, once a place of camaraderie, had become a realm of loneliness where Amber’s suffering went unnoticed.
Hours later, when she finally regained consciousness, she found herself alone. The initial shock of her panic attack had subsided, leaving her feeling exhausted and hollow. The room was dark, and the only light came from a faint glow outside the window. Amber lay still on her bed, her body aching and her mind in a fog.
In the days that followed, Amber’s presence in the mansion became increasingly ghost-like. Her attempts to engage with the team were met with stony silence or outright dismissal. When she tried to join conversations, her words seemed to vanish into the air, unnoticed and unacknowledged. The X-Men acted as though she was invisible, their conversations continuing without pause as if she were not there.
One day in the common room, Amber tried to join a discussion about an upcoming mission. She approached the group with a tentative “Hey, can I—” but was cut off by a sudden, intentional shift in the conversation. The team members, including Logan and Jean, turned their backs or began speaking over her, ignoring her presence entirely.
Amber’s attempts to interact with the team were met with a consistent pattern of cold indifference. If she tried to speak up during meetings, her comments were dismissed or overlooked. When she passed by, conversations would pause abruptly, only to resume in hushed tones once she had moved on. The isolation was not just emotional but social; Amber was increasingly relegated to the periphery of the team’s life.
The once-vibrant communal spaces became places where Amber felt like a mere observer. She sat alone in the cafeteria, her meals untouched as she watched the others interact, their laughter and camaraderie a painful reminder of what she had lost. Even in the midst of the team, she felt like a ghost, her existence ignored and her presence unacknowledged.
Despite her growing despair, Amber continued to perform her duties with the same precision she always had. Her work remained impeccable, but her interactions were now reduced to the bare minimum required. The team’s continued avoidance only deepened her sense of abandonment, and she felt increasingly trapped in a cycle of isolation and emotional numbness.
Amber’s isolation was now complete. The mansion, once a place of shared experiences and connections, had become a realm of solitude where she was left to grapple with her pain and loneliness. The team’s unintentional but deliberate exclusion was a constant reminder of the chasm that had grown between her and those she once called friends.
