there has been an artificial shortage of all adhd medication for the past 4 years in the US. every investigation into this shortage has returned with the unequivocal result that simply nobody thinks we need it enough to solve the problem.

so they point fingers at the “faker” gaming the system to get adderall who “thinks” they have adhd or is “abusing stimulants to get ahead” for a problem that Our system MANUFACTURED.

so we would be at each others throats instead of realizing that our government and big pharma is to blame for all of this. because their First priority is to punish addicts and to punish folks with adhd and to punish anyone who relies on medication. over everything else. even over profit.

I was replaying some parts of Book 7 and I got to this part:

And I got sad because throughout the game, Silver seems to have convinced himself that he "needs" to earn love (particularly his father's, imo) to a certain degree.

Granted, his lines here are rooted from a very complicated past but Silver does have a chip on his shoulder when it comes to his familial relationships (or seems to).

And this is further shown near the start of Mal's overblot, where Silver and his big bro are talking:

Silver shows immense gratitude and love for his father, but also is burdened with some kind of huge responsibility towards Lilia:

And tho Malleus tries to comfort him in a gentle way:

Silver feels like he's far from the model son he thinks his father deserves.

It makes me sad that Silver feels this way when he's been loved correctly his entire life...

idk where I was going with this but I hope in the succeeding books we get to see more of Diafam's dynamics, especially Silver's healing.

Thinking about the fight in Ba Sing Se. There's a moment when Zuko first comes in when he looks between Azula and Aang. In that moment, Aang also looked at him, and he doesn't look at him like an enemy, he looks like he's waiting because he is. He's waiting for Zuko to make a choice between him and Azula, and you're literally shown the second he realizes Zuko is choosing Azula, because he panics, almost surprised by this.

It got me thinking about it and I realized this is a call back to the fight they had in the abandoned town during The Chase. There too, Zuko came in in the middle of a confrontation between Aang and Azula, then too there was a period of time in which Zuko looked between Azula and Aang, making a decision on who to attack, and he attacked Azula. He took Aang's side. He and Aang (and co. as they come in) work together against Azula.

Now, was this because he really 'sided' with Aang? No. It was because Zuko needed Aang for himself, and Aang knows this. This has happened before, during the blue spirit, where the two of them work together, not because Zuko is defending Aang, but because he needs him for himself. There's been an established pattern that, while Zuko and Aang are enemies, any third player becomes a common enemy, and they work together against that person. If there is a third threat, Aang and Zuko are on the same team (and there's a twisted kind of companionship in that, relying on someone to have your back because you know they want to be the one to defeat you).

During Ba Sing Se, Zuko once again enters. It's the same scene, and I think part of Aang expected the same thing to happen, but it doesn't. Zuko picks Azula's side, and Aang was surprised (and might I even say betrayed?) by this.

"Back off Azula, he's mine." Aang took those words to heart, and Zuko went back on them.

The three tiers of queer sff:

Broke: what is worldbuilding? Made in a lab to be as blandly inoffensive as possible. Time to randomly namedrope terms like 'nonbinary' and 'ace' while doing zero work actually incorporating them into the world or characters and have someone give a speech about how valid they are. Lines like 'I'm too ace for this' while never exploring the concept of asexuality or aromanticism and still having very central romance plotlines is common. I hate it here learn how to write realistic dialogue and fully realized characters I'm begging.

Woke: more ore less typical sci-fi and fantasy but It’s Queer Now. Might include in-universe queerphobia to be struggled against or may have queer identities be fully normalized. Can be done bad or well depending on the skill of the writer. A good way to explore our contemporary ideas of gender and sexuality or to have a bit of a power fantasy with lesbian princesses and trans knights. There will probably be a bisexual love triangle.

The funniest canonical thing in Katekyo hitman reborn in my opinion is the fact that Tsuna cannot multiple by 7.

Literally everything in his universe is centered around there being seven of those things (or people)

i like how nate refers to sophie as "soph" practically from the beginning of leverage. they’ve technically always been on opposing sides, nate’s aware "sophie devereaux" is a fake name, they’re currently in an awkward and often tense place in their relationship… and yet he can’t help but call her by a nickname. it’s just habit - another tiny indication of his affection for her. i love that even as they’re both still figuring out their relationship, they also quickly fall into this strange little rhythm as though they’ve been together for years.

suddenly sitting up awake at 12am: i think thedas has a genre of memento mori types of paintings, where they put a skull in with some fancy still life stuff to indicate that the patron/artist is wealthy, but also Pious and thinking about Inevitable Death rather than material things (even though they're lovingly rendering all the silverware and expensive fruits and lace tablecloths or whatever)

BUT. since andraste is associated with fire, this is done by including like a lit candle or an urn of ashes or something in the composition, to show the piety and focus on the impermanence of life! i think this would be common in orlais especially. presumably tevinter is trying not to play up the "whoops we turned the saviour into a burnt kebab :)" angle in their religion, so they'd have... idk. a knife or something? to indicate the sword of mercy as the pious symbol of death rather than the fire itself?

I can see the vision-

I believe Steb is the equivalent to a police medic so he already has the background in it. After canon it would maybe go something like this:

Helping with relief efforts, breaking his back filling out reports, getting the time to mourn the dead and dealing with Maddie's betrayal, and probably even remaining in touch with Vi and Caitlyn after his time on the task force with them

It would be something very grief filled. And now it's something I just shared with all of you!
