Love finds a way

They kissed softly, purposefully, relaying the contents of their hearts as effectively as their fighting — their breaths and heartbeats perfectly synchronized.

The way their bodies fitted together shouldn't be surprising after all they had gone through, but it was mesmerizing nonetheless. It was confirmation that this was what they were always meant to do, all they were always meant to be.

So, we've washed the bones of all the main characters of the Founding era, so why not do the same, but with such minor characters that the only thing known from the canon is their names.

To your attention — Senju Butsuma and Uchiha Tajima.

Absolutely everyone is of the opinion that Butsuma is bad and Tajima is good. Why? Well, it's quite simple to understand why everyone dislikes Butsuma so much, manga helps us a lot in this matter.

Senju Butsuma is a malicious parent who does not hesitate to hit a child if he says something against, who considers it an honor to die in battle, despite the young age that one of his sons has reached.

That's all to say that he's bad, right?

You know, I'm of the opinion that holding a grudge against adults just because they're adults and they have to be able to do everything in the world, is a little wrong. I'll explain why! Tell me honestly, do you feel like an adult? Will you feel like that when you reach the age of twenty? At what point does a person become an adult at all? I'm not afraid to approach a stranger and ask for directions to some place, so I'm already a self-sufficient person to have finances and pay taxes?

I just want to say that it's pretty bad to look at Butsuma from one side, since we don't see everything. Yes, he's a disgusting parent. You can't beat children, no matter what. You can't order them to kill, no matter what.

On the other hand, it was considered the norm for the society of that time. However, I do not consider this an excuse.

All this text from above was that I agree with Naruto's fandom that Butsuma is not a very good father. But it's still funny to me to see how in fanfiction absolutely all mortal sins are attributed to him haha

However, I do not agree with the opinion that Uchiha Tajima is a good one. Either everyone decided this way because juxtaposition is the easiest method of perception, or because in the canon Tajima deigned to ask his son if they could defeat Hashirama. Seriously? Butsuma, for example, explained to his child why Uchiha are bad. Since when does ordinary conversation explain how good a person is at parenting?

Please don't think I'm being dismissive of Tajima, not at all. I just really don't like the baselessness that the opinion of his "goodness" has. Face it, most likely, both men are just disgusting people, far from tolerance and thoughts about the world.

Well, none of this prevents us from writing absolutely everything about them that we want in our fanfiction lol

itachi x sasuke - my thinkpiece on uchiha brothers

Itachi loved sasuke. No doubt.

Sasuke loved itachi. No doubt.

But...yes, there is a but in here because what Itachi did for Sasuke is commendable but what Itachi did to Sasuke is traumatizing and shaped Sasuke as a person who can never return from the abyss. (sasuke would have turned out the way naruto did, if it wasn't for his trauma and lack of adult agency in life)

Sasuke is the creation of Itachi, a failed creation, because Itachi for all his might, was a person obsessed with control and order and seeing how the world was burning around him when he was growing up, he ended up believing that only he knew what was right.

To some extent, he might be right.

But in Sasuke's case, he wasn't.

He scripted a path for Sasuke to follow, with all his might, I repeat, the Genjutsu God couldn't see the traps in the path that he paved for his little brother.

It was like a perfect Genjutsu against Itachi, which hid the burning coals that illuminated the path. Itachi believe it was the warmth and sun lit road yet it was burning coals that with step, destroyed Sasuke and pulled him from his heroic destiny and so he wavered. He didn't become the Hero; Itachi Killer, he became the misunderstood villain; brother killer.

The repeated exposure of Massacre was the final nail in the coffin of Sasuke's fate. Itachi there, destroyed every hope that Sasuke could have had, if he had just stayed as a child of tragedy, but Itachi made Sasuke, the child of trauma.

And from there began the ruin of Sasuke Uchiha.

For Itachi believed he knew what was to happen, what was to be done, what was the best...and he was utterly wrong.

He had no idea what he set up for Sasuke.

He wished to create a future for Sasuke, whose present he himself destroyed. And Itachi knew he fucked up, he knew it was too late, he knew he should have handled that matter differently. He realized that he should have talked to him.

But it was too late. Sasuke was ruined, beyond repair.

NARUTO UZUMAKI MADE ME TRANSGENDER: I SAW THE TV GLOW

Do you remember the first time someone called you a faggot? The first time I remember it was at school - muttered and spit in my face like acid, too young for me to understand. I understood the feeling behind it of course, there was something in me that other people didn’t like. I walked wrong, I talked wrong, I acted wrong. Even my family could see it on me, but they tried to not speak it. It wasn’t something adults talked about, and it certainly wasn’t something I wanted to talk about. And so I didn’t for two decades. I lived life inside myself and for myself, both ignoring myself and obsessed with myself. I retreated from life and found fandom right here on this very website.

I SAW THE TV GLOW is neon and scanlined. It is a film that loves fandom. Owen and Maddie are teenagers who live in eternal suburbia and their lives and home are so unimportant, so of a thing, that no details are ever offered to the audience. The film focuses on Owen, a sad and scrawny thing of a boy completely unremarkable in every way. He’s not particularly likeable or smart or lively. He’s scared and dumb. Early on he meets Maddie, an older girl dressed so dark and with such an annoying chip on her shoulder she could have been a rejected design for a Goth Kid from South Park before shuffling her ass down to Void High. She’s annoyed by him at first of course, everyone is. Owen immediately is struck by her and asks her about the television show he finds her reading an official episode guide for -  The Pink Opaque. Fandom given perfect, Buffy-tinged, VHS-blessed form. Owen and Maddie love this little show about two girls who barely know each other yet somehow share a supernatural and beautiful connection – tied via magic and psychic powers. Owen and Maddie sneak and lie in order to watch the show together. They never form a real friendship – and the time and things they share have to be done in the dark under the nose of the adults in their lives. In the Pink Opaque, Tara and Isobel have to claw a relationship in the dark psychic realm, Maddie and Owen do so in the in dark TV glow. Owen loves his mother and is scared of his stepfather. Maddie’s father drinks a lot, and she runs away in her junior year. Owen’s mother dies of lung cancer when he’s 16. Mine died when I was 19.

Owen loses himself in the Pink Opaque. Initially he watches the show alone off VHS copies Maddie makes and leaves for him in their school’s dark room but eventually, before she leaves, he watches it with her. She asks him to go with her and Owen agrees. He doesn’t go and his world is bleaker for it. Years pass and Owen works a gravedigging job where little by little, day by day, he kills himself. That’s right – he works for a local movie theater. Eventually, Maddie returns to their horrible little town, and this is where I knew Owen was transgender. Like me. Everyday he persists in pursuit of a life that isn’t his and an identity he’ll never have. Years go by, the world exists and grows and you’re still pouring a suburban family their popcorn. Maddie, she doesn’t go by that name anymore but Owen never gets to know this person who was once his only friend, returns and gives Owen a golden ticket out of Kansas and straight to Oz: they actually are Tara and Isobel! They were defeated at the end of the show and buried alive, and to retake their true selves they just have to bury these lives. Maddie has already previously helped Owen bury part of this farce he calls a life; years ago, during those fateful Pink Opaque viewing sessions, she gave him that very first drop of gender and put him in a dress and told him he was pretty. Owen never learned to give himself that and so he runs from Maddie again.

Like Owen, I spent much of my life hiding inside the television. Why live in the world that exists when I had bad anime and worse fanfiction? There, I could be and experience anything, all of it affirming and welcoming. I was hollow, but at least in some sense, I also felt like I was safe. Of course, that safety was bullshit. For faggots like us, I think it always is.

I SAW THE TV GLOW is monochrome and buzzed. It is a film that hates fandom. Owen persists. He has a family, he says he loves them, and works at a local Chuck E. Cheese-type fun center. Like the movie theater but longer. For Owen, dysphoria is like death but longer. One night, Owen narrates to us his sad little life and decides to rewatch the Pink Opaque as his new self and he fucking hates it. Its cheap, annoying and embarrassing. This thing that meant so much, that Owen used to convince himself closeted life was fine, losing Maddie was fine, as long as he had this thing – it was stupid. The Pink Opaque made Owen transgender and here he was 30 years later, transgender in a world that was decisively not. He has a breakdown at work and sees the television glow in himself.

Finally he asks: what if I really was someone else, very far away, on the other side of the television screen?

Hi ❤️ Thanks for asking ~ I answered both of these in the previous ask, but, as usual, I have a lot to say, so I shall do it again ;-)

🍓 - aside from the Inuyasha blog and the tales I used to tell my siblings, I think my first legitimate fanfiction that I knew was *fanfiction*, you know, happened with Harry Potter - as many before me and many after me, and the first fandoms I wrote for and published on Fanfiction.net were Yu-Gi-Oh and Naruto - I really wanted to add to these universes, to share different 'what ifs' with the characters I loved. And now I am mostly writing aus, that figures 🤣

❄️ - My Fan Wei/Mu Ge wish is one thing, and I also have a long list of "things my friends are writing and I really wanna see", but there is, as usual, more. I really like humour too, not only angst, and I think writing a good comedy is harder than writing a story relying on sadness and compassion, on a purely technical level, so another thing I would love to see is more good, funny crack.

Especially when dealing with untilisation of Shen Wei's creepy factor. I see a lot of stories with people loving him, crushing on him, admiring him and all that, but I would love to see the opposite - SW creeping people out for seemingly *no reason*. Like, sure, he is a good professor, very good manners, polite and calm, but he sometimes gets this look in his eye... The vibes are off, your honour. Basically: SW as the adult equivalent of The Omen Child, from the outsiders POV. Who would I like to see write it? Well, aside from the designated friend that I asked to, everyone who is interested in it? I believe in poking a bit of fun at characters we love, and SW deserves some shaming for his Stalkery Intense Ways 😁❤️

[Okay I am going to adress some serious things here, yes, I wrote some stuff I am not proud of. It was at a time I was going through my repressed memories of sexual abuse/forced sex/etc from when I was a child. Now yes some of the stuff was with characters that are 15 years old with adults. Naruto Rarepair Week

This event is Tumblr based - you’re welcome to host your content elsewhere, but mods will not be creating any collections on AO3 or other platforms. Feel free to host your content elsewhere and share a link on tumblr for us to promote/reblog!

This is a week long event for Naruto rarepairs. Our criteria for what makes a pair rare is if it has less than 400 fics in the ship tag on AO3. No, we will not look at popularity on other platforms. No, we will not make exceptions to this rule.

New fanfiction and new fanart qualify for this event. Gif sets qualify for this event. Continuations of other stories or comics do not. Moodboards, playlists, and other content do not. This is not to diminish the importance of such content in fandom - the mod team is simply small and could not keep up with everything if everything was allowed.

AI art/fics/anything Does Not Qualify For This Event. If you are caught submitting AI creations, you will be permanently banned from this event and any event this mod runs.

Creators must @ this blog and use the proper tags in the tag section. Tumblr is notoriously shit, please help us make it easier to actually find your stuff.

If your blog has the ‘adult content’ warning, there’s a good chance we might not be able to reblog your stuff. @-ing and sending us links might help, but if you reblog a lot then it means a Lot of scrolling to find what you created for the event. Just a head’s up there.

Another warning: Mods will be much less strict as far as tagging goes in 2024 and onward. Follow this blog at your own risk, and follow the rules Don't Like, Don't Read. The only tags that will be required are ship tags and 'NarutoRarePairWeek20XX' (XX being the year of the event, ex: 'NarutoRarePairWeek2024' for the year 2024)

An outline of how the rules have changed from last year is detailed below the cut, as well as why these changes were made.

What qualifies as a rare pair has been updated from 300 fics on the AO3 tag to 400 ships on the AO3 tag. This is because, as time passes, all ships naturally accumulate more fics. We do not believe it would be fair to not ever change our benchmark. This means that ships that were disqualified in previous years might now qualify for the event, so please read the disqualified ships list carefully.

Gif sets now qualify for this event. Though we are still a one-man mod team, participation in this event has dwindled a bit over the years and we believe we'd be able to keep up with art, fics, and gif sets.

AI art/fics/anything is banned. We will not be discussing the morals of AI art here, and we will also not loosen our stance on this matter. If you use it, you're banned.

Our tagging system relied heavily on reblogging from participants and clicking their tags, and despite attempting to clearly and concisely lay out how exactly to tag posts for the event there has always seemed to be confusion around it. Going forward, we will only be asking for two tags in the tag section. We will not reblog any post that does not have the ships tagged, but everything else is being reblogged without additional tags from the mods. We are, as stated above, a one-man mod team, and we cannot look through every post/piece of content to tag it. It will be up to you to curate your own experience in this event and on this blog.

Who I write for and what I write

Hello, all of you! I am finally revamping this old post of mine. Mainly because I have grown as a writer and it is time I expanded my writing options. I have grown as a writer and am proud of where I am. Some of my old fanfictions weren’t the best, but we all gained experience. 

So before I start, please enjoy it all. I don’t tolerate hate speech, and I do not tolerate minors reading my stories. I am purely an adult content type of writer. It is what I specialize in, and I request that no minors interact with my account.

I enjoy greatly writing, and it is a hobby. I understand you may request it, but there is no guarantee I will write since I do have a job. I just entered a long, four-year program for my career and will have to focus on that. I must state that as well. I won't write for minor characters unless they are older. Unfortunately, I don't know many fics centering around the brothers either. I've mostly come across the ship-py fics or the ones with their characterization way off the mark or them not being the main relationship of the story. I love other characters too (Naruto, Shisui, and Kakashi for example) but I want to read the stories that focus on Sasuke and Itachi. They're hard to find.

A Way Back Up is an ongoing fic that fits your description and I'm currently reading it. It's about adult Sasuke accidentally landing in the past and finding teen Itachi. It's a bitter-sweet story about Itachi dealing with... everything, and Sasuke, now all grown up, empathising with the brother he hated as a teen. I'm still not sure how it will end (I hope it's a happy ending), but I love interactions between the brothers.
