Comfortable on the Other Side (Brawler Focused Oneshot)
Warnings: Drug mentions.
@princeasimdiya12 Request: Then based on akudama drive, can you write a oneshot featuring Brawler developing a reading hobby or something cultured please? The idea is that he's interested in something educational that defies his dumb muscle stereotype. What do you think?
.
.
.
“Look, that stupid oaf isn’t even here.” Doctor scoffed, the familiar sneer once again resting on her pretty pink lips, the sweet coral hues contrasting with the vitriol present in her expression. She carefully balanced a scalpel on her index finger before flipping it into the air twice before making it land in the palm of her well manicured hands. “You and I both know that he’s almost too stupid to function.”
Courier, who up until that point had been comfortably leaning against his motorcycle, shook his head. Between two slender fingers, a cigarette dangled, a small plume of smoke rising to the sky. “I don’t care.” His eyes narrowed at Doctor’s girlish giggle. “Hurt him all you like, but you can’t kill him.”
The woman rolled her eyes. “I didn’t say that I was going to kill him. If I was, he would have dropped dead by now.”
Courier sent her a pointed look.
The older woman sighed before turning away from him. Whatever entertainment that she sought from Courier had probably disappeared.
“Fine. I’ll leave him alone. It’s just as well—” She cast a glance behind her, only to wince at what she saw. “—he’s coming here and I don’t want to breathe in the same air as him.”
She stalked off, her heeled boots clacking on the pavement. True to his stoic nature, Courier didn’t see her off. Instead, he focused on the night sky and waited a moment before raising his head in silent greeting at his newest companion.
Like Doctor, Brawler didn’t disguise the weight of his footsteps. He walked wherever he wanted, however he wanted. Even if he was loud and had the potential to disrupt stealth missions, Courier could almost respect the confidence that Brawler had. After all, it was probably both recklessness and confidence in himself that made Brawler into the formidable fighter that he was today.
“Is she gone?”
“You should already know.” Courier flicked a few ashes off his cigarette. He then gestured towards the shadows in the distance, the lights from the warehouse still somewhat dim despite their proximity. “You’ve been listening in the shadows for a while.”
Brawler laughed a bit before he settled next to Courier. Together, the two men sat in relatively calm silence. Over time, however, Brawler quickly tired of standing still and began doing push ups on the ground. Courier, ever the silent observer, counted repetitions until Brawler had reached a little past two hundred before speaking again.
“Don’t you care? About what she said?” Courier kept his eyes steadily forward, careful not to look at Brawler who was looking up at him while still performing his exercise.
Brawler pushed through another five push ups before jumping to his feet. “Nah, man. Crap like that ain’t got no place in my head. Best to leave her alone.” The dreadlocked man thought for a moment before saying, “Don’t you keep to yourself? It’s not like you to be interested.”
“I’m not. It would be a waste if we lost our only medic before any of us could benefit from the heist.”
Brawler eyed Courier. This time, the silence between the two of them was layered with tension, but Courier would rather stew in awkwardness before even suggesting that he was feeling otherwise.
Finally, Brawler said, “Sure. Whatever you say.”
In thanks, or because Courier honestly didn’t know if he wanted to continue the conversation or end it, he pulled out his pack of cigarettes, shook it until a cigarette stuck out, and gestured for Brawler to take one. Courier hoped that Brawler wouldn’t make a big deal out of it, and to his credit, Brawler didn’t act too surprised.
However, that didn’t stop Brawler from rejecting Courier’s proffered gift.
With a booming laugh, Brawler said, “Carcinogens aren’t exactly something that I would recommend for building up muscle mass.”
Courier choked.
Try as the younger Akudama might, he couldn’t help but feel his surprise skyrocket at alarming speed. Carcinogen wasn’t a term that he thought Brawler would know. Normally, he wasn’t one to judge on appearances alone (in his business, Courier knew better than to take deals on face value alone), but Brawler knowing what a carcinogen was—even going as far as to know the harmful benefits of such—could not be reconciled with what little Courier knew of the older man.
Courier was almost curious as to how much his companion actually knew about the world.
Before, Courier could say anything, however, Brawler beat him to the punch.
Not literally this time.
“Surprised, huh?” Brawler chuckled to himself before he finally lay on the ground, one of his arms outstretched and reaching for the stars. “Everybody seems to be when…” Brawler coughed, interrupting himself. “I mean, look at me. You can’t exactly go around looking like this without some knowledge of the human body!”
A beat.
“I mean, there are people out there who could get by with steroids and good genetics, but I’m usually short on money.”
Courier heaved a sigh, not sure if what he was feeling was intrigue or exasperation that his night was getting weirder and weirder.
“You’re a bodybuilder?”
“Pfft… bodybuilders starve their bodies until they become weak.” Brawler practically vibrated on the ground as he laughed giddily to himself. “I did meet one, though, back when I was a kid. I accidentally knocked him over and he went toppling like a stack of blocks!” Another bout of laughter.
Did Courier really give up the comforting presence of Doctor just to punish himself with Brawler’s idiocy?
“But you know what’s even funnier than bodybuilders thinking that they can take me on?”
Was Courier that curious?
“What?”
Damn, he was.
“I used to be in medical school.”
Thank whatever deity was out there because Courier nearly inhaled his cigarette while taking a drag. Unfortunately, Brawler’s keen eyes observed Courier’s fumble, which was made only apparent by the laughter that practically ripped Brawler apart from the inside.
It was just too hilarious watching Courier lose his composure.
Finally, Brawler quieted.
“Orthopedic surgeon if you can believe it.” Brawler looked at the stars, something like yearning in his eyes. “I’ll admit, I wasn’t the best student, but I had a lot of promise back then. Peers looked up to me, teachers respected me. My grandfather,” and here, Courier could have sworn that he heard Brawler’s voice catch, “he believed in me.”
Courier didn’t say anything. What could he possibly say? He had always known poverty. With the way Brawler was speaking, Brawler had lived a life that Courier could have only dreamed of.
“But, ya know… Small fry like me back then got caught up in some shady shit. Got caught up in drugs, experimentation on the human body… I mean, don’t you think it’s weird that Doctor’s poisons don’t work on me?” Brawler sighed, not really concerned that none of his “coworkers” seemed to care about his well-being. “I may not have graduated, but you would not believe how many times she broke the Hippocratic Oath. Personally, I don’t care, but it makes my skin crawl. She seems like the type of person to commit malpractice for the fun of it.”
Brawler then sprung up to his feet, the loud thump his body made causing Courier to nearly stumble over himself.
“I must say though, her research papers from back when she was a grad student were rather stellar. Honestly, I stand by my opinion, she should have stayed in academia instead of practicing.”
This time, Courier casually let the cigarette fall to the wayside.
It was much easier to let go and let things happen instead of contemplating the fact that Brawler had studied to become a doctor and had actually reviewed some of Doctor’s research articles.
“Anyway, I gotta help out my newest disciple. Careful with those carcinogens, brother!”

Someone please tell me why someone is going through all my Akudama Drive, Hetalia, and Cells at Work stuff just to post meaningless links? I’ve had a bad day and I was so excited to open up my emails only to be bombarded by… this.
I don’t even have the energy to go through my stories individually just to delete them. It’s too many and I feel like that this person… bot? Thing? Is going through most of my archive.

Character interactions/scenes writing requests
H-Hi.......... (ノへ ̄、)
As an ~aspiring writer~ I have yet to experience with writing requests, and would like to get an idea of whether this makes sense for me in a fandom setting, to possibly - not with certainty - open commissions on a larger scale in the future, being that I'm more comfortable writing than I am drawing.
Tumblr media
Information:
I am opening requests for scenes that you would like your faves to be in. I am used to writing scenes on their own, separated from their larger story, to convey certain feelings or hint at backstory elements. Just send your request via ask!
If you would like to read references of my writing: - @jkpfr is my writing blog for original content - @murderfabrication is the official blog for my written fangan - I'm jadziajan on AO3
You may request scenes such as "[character A] tries to befriend [character B]", "[character] wonders what it means to them to be a [whatever their job is]", "[character A] runs into [character B] and [character C] at the supermarket"... or anything more interesting.
Fandoms I can write for: - Danganronpa (DR1, SDR2, DR3, DR0, SDR2.5, DRT Vol. 1) - Ace Attorney (EXCEPT the Professor Layton crossover) - Akudama Drive - Animal Crossing..? - Cookie Clicker......?
If you'd like to know if I can write about another fandom you think I know, feel free to shoot me an ask.
Languages I can write in: - French - English
Tumblr media
Rules:
>Please include the word "request" somewhere in your ask so I won't think you're asking for an opinion or mistook my askbox for Google. >Please don't send the same request more than once, or you will be blocked. >Please do not copy or repost my writing without credit via username and link. >In case that matters to you, I am an adult. Regardless...
I WON'T write: sex scenes, sexual intent, drug abuse, abusive, toxic or otherwise inappropriate relationships in a positive light
I WILL write: sexual connotations, abusive or toxic relationships in a negative light
I may update these lists as I see fit.
Examples of request formats I could respond to: - "request: [character A] is watching [character B] paint" - "may I request a scene of [character A] and [character B] talking about [character C]?" - "(request) [character A] is doing the damn dishes for the first time"
I reserve myself the right to turn down any request if it makes me uncomfortable, if I find it uninspiring, or even if I dislike the characters strongly, without notifying you.
Tumblr media
Since like I said this is my first time trying this, let me know if I forgot to include something or if you have any questions. (>人<;)
You are more than welcome to send in any silly idea you have, since I need to get started somehow!

What are your Top Five Ships of All Time that you can Scream (TM) about and why?
All time? Of All Time???? OOOOOH you are making me choose! This is tough, but an exciting ask! Thank you so much, friend!!! I will list them in reverse order, from number 5 to number 1!! (as always, this is just a list based on my current interests, and it could change in the future!)
5. Brawler/Hoodlum from Akudama Drive. Listen, listen. These two? They are in love. So clearly in love. Brawler is Constantly showing off for Hoodlum, and Hoodlum blushes??? When he's talking with Brawler???? Excuse me?????? I 10000% believe Brawler knew Hoodlum stretched the truth with his amount of years he owed the system, but he took One (1) look at Hoodlum's pretty eyes and went "yeah that's fine he's pretty I want to keep him around I will humour him" and that was IT. (I could also talk about the scene with the bridge but I WILL NOT for reasons😭😭😭 He's resting. Just resting.) This one comes out at number 5 because while I love it and could easily go on and on and on about it, I haven't talked about it as much or as often as the others on this list.
4. Mondo Oowaa/Kiyotaka Ishimaru from Danganronpa. These two. THESE. TWO. Ugh. I love them so much. Mondo is MY SON. He's just so...precious. And so is Taka. I love them both and I think their dynamic is very sweet. I think they are very similar to Brawler and Hoodlum in some ways, but obviously not exactly the same. I do love how they bonded over a mutual respect for each other that came from competition. I also will cry every time I watch Mondo's execution, and every time Taka ends up murdered. Pain. I live for the AU where they are both alive and healthy and able to fall in love and live happily ever after. This ship is at number four because I did settle down a lot after my initial playthrough of the game and while I can definitely scream about them at any given time if prompted, I don't search them out as actively as I used to in fanfiction or fanart.
3. Jade Leech/Floyd Leech/Azul Ashengrotto from Twisted Wonderland. This OT3 is honestly addicting to talk about for me. I love them. They're three of my favourite characters in the game, and I really find their dynamics fascinating. They have this incredible trust with each other, they know each other so well, and they support each other. Also I am *here* for the Mafia theme. Love that so so so much. Honestly, over the past few days I don't think I've shut up about them in our DMs and texts.
2. GrimmIchi from Bleach. Honestly, I had to give Grimmjow and Ichigo one of the top two spots. I mean, honestly, I'm one of the co-writers for a blog *dedicated* strictly to GrimmIchi (though I haven't written anything there in a long while...ooops). I have Many Many Many thoughts about them and I love to yell about them. It's very hard to get me to stop once you get me going, and it's so easy to get me going. Just ask @backwardshirt
Honourable Mentions: Byakuya/Kirigiri/Naegi from Danganronpa, Gundham/Souda from Danganronpa 2, Noiz/Aoba from DMMD, Vash/Wolfwood/Meryl from Trigun, Lawrence/Adam from Saw (2004), Byakuya/Renji from Bleach, Vil/Rook from Twisted Wonderland, Bokuto/Akaashi from Haikyuu!
1.Number one spot goes to:
Kalim/Idia from Twisted Wonderland. I mean. It's not hard to figure out, I'm sure, lol. I talk about them a lot, and I make a lot of posts about them. I love to discuss different dynamics, different possible aus, and I have written several one-shots and short scenes about them now, as well as a multi-chaptered fic centered around them as a pairing (and there will be more to come!!!). I love them and I will take any and all opportunities to shout about them. They are so cute; the introvert and the extrovert, the grumpy rain cloud and the sunshine beam. I love that dynamic with my entire soul. I can't help but be drawn to them. They got that Sun and Moon dynamic. Both of them have such complex emotions, and I think both of them struggle with conveying what they feel; just in totally different ways. I love them so much!!!!!!!!!!

Hiya, Devin here! I loved getting your asks and getting to know other people better, so I'll be returning the favor. Why is Akudama Drive the main focus of your blog? Who is your favorite Akudama Drive character? Do you write for other fandoms? And what inspired you to write in the first place? Ohhhh, and what are your pronouns if you don't mind me asking? You don't have to answer all of my questions, I'm just curious. Thank you and I hope you have a wonderful day! :D
YOU'RE SO SWEET OMG I could probably go on and on about Akudama Drive— so this might be long-! I'll highlight the main points as I could absolutely never expect anyone to read through all this nonsense!
The reason it's the focus of my blog is...for a few reasons— I love this anime and I've watched many before Akudama Drive, but it's the first one to make me feel as though I love all of the characters, no matter what. Yes, I absolutely despised Doctor, but in the end I found that I loved that I despised her. It's also a very underrated anime, and it had some content, just not a lot.
Secondly, I'm actually quite a reserved person online, I've roleplayed with others, but usually they approached me! I've never written fanfiction before this blog. It was a long 8 months after me having seen Akudama Drive before I even decided to actually make this blog— I've always loved writing and so I found myself making headcanons for Akudama Drive randomly. Eventually it dawned on me, why not share? Even if no one sees it, someone MIGHT and it'll be a win-win. They get content for an anime that's deprived and I get to write for an anime I love!
My favorite Akudama Drive character is Cutthroat! I'm sure that's obvious though— I tend to like the characters with a very skewed sense of love, along with feminine or childish characteristics....they also tend to be quite the knife wielders like Azusa, Yuri, Juuzou..., But after having made this account, Courier is another character I GREATLY respect. I love him so very much and because so many of my mutuals would request for me to write for him, I grew to fall in love with him despite me overlooking him a little. I still liked him previously for the role he played in the anime though. I was even crying the entire last episode for him... The chase as well because I felt as though what he was doing was something he didn't have to do, yet he did anyways..? It touched me a lot. I also still cry over Swindlers death and I can't hear her voice without feeling some type of way... Okay I'm getting off topic— IM SORRY but Swindler is also another favorite...along with Hacker—
I have also written for other fandom's if you count roleplay! I've roleplayed as Azusa, Kanato, Laito, and Ruki from Diabolik Lovers.....I've even dabbled as Armin at one point from Attack on Titan— And I think I've contemplated writing for Kuroshitsuji....I may have actually and just forgot—
What inspired me to write! Here I'd like to thank my teachers— No, I'm kidding...well they sort of inspired me to continue by telling me I was good at it from a young age, but from then on it's mostly my own ideas. I'm not very talented at a lot of creative things, but writing is something I can sort of do and it's a huge way for me to process my interests or emotions into something. Which is why my content may seem dark. I love horror, but I think it can fit with the theme of Akudama Drive so it doesn't stand out too terribly as idk....making dark fanfiction about My Little Pony would...
And my pronouns are she/her!! Maybe I'll share here that my name is also Chloe!
Again Devin, you're SO SWEET— OMG 😭 Thank you SO much for asking me anything at all, it really means a lot and I'm so happy to find others who also enjoy this anime!

A Fighting Chance (Brawler and Swindler Interaction)
Warnings: Cutthroat being a jerk, violence mentions.
Anonymous Request: I hope this isn't a bother but maybe something lighthearted between Brawler and Swindler? I think they'll get along enough to be friends.
If not, then anything else you have in mind is good if that's alright!
.
.
.
“Hey, man. I think the little lady needs her space.”
Brawler’s booming voice, so loud and forceful, nearly knocked Swindler to the ground. Despite his looming presence and hulking appearance, the young woman felt somewhat reassured that she wasn’t alone. Beside her, Cutthroat huffed a near imperceptible sigh before bouncing away from nearly straddling Swindler’s lap.
“Hello, Mr. Brawler!” Despite the childlike nature of his voice, the infamous serial killer’s stance was tense—a coiled spring and a rope pulled too taut. “My little angel and I were—”
Taking this opportunity, Swindler scrambled to her feet, a wary but thankful expression on her face as she regarded the much larger man. It was comical in hindsight—she was much shorter and petite compared to the street fighter—but she would rather not be in close proximity to an Akudama who had reportedly killed hundreds of people for the sake of it. If that meant trading one definite evil to a supposed one, Swindler would take it.
Laughing nervously, she turned to Cutthroat and said, “Actually, I wanted to ask Brawler something. Something important!” It was a boldfaced lie, but Cutthroat was too enamored to realize that his beloved angel was not as innocent as he thought she was.
Or, perhaps, he already knew and was relishing in her attempts to hide herself away from him.
Pouting, Cutthroat twirled one of his many knives that he had hidden away in his coat before tracing a playful little pattern up and down Swindler’s gloved arm.
“But it’s not important enough for me?”
If he pressed just a hair deeper into her skin, Swindler knew that he would draw blood. Despite the threat, Swindler was willing to take her chances. As much as the situation said otherwise, she has a feeling that Brawler could more than hold his own if the worst came to pass.
“Yeah, yeah! I’m just…” As much as Swindler would have liked to say that she was a better liar after having been thrown from the jaws of multiple sharks in open water and into an enclosed tank of piranhas, she knew that she was still the same young woman who was way in over her head. In other words, right when the words she most wanted to say were on the tip of her tongue, she floundered and found that Cutthroat’s childish demeanor was swiftly becoming… something more sinister.
“Last I checked, brother, if something’s important, it’s best that you gotta keep these sorts of things private.” Brawler held up both of his muscular arms in a parody of surrender. “I won’t keep the little lady long if that’s what got you worried.”
Cutthroat’s violet eyes appraised Brawler for a few good seconds before coming to a conclusion that remained a mystery to the other parties involved. Without so much as a by your leave, he pecked Swindler on the cheek—a bright dusty rose blooming to life on her warmed skin—before flouncing away.
Chuckling a little to herself at the luck that she had unwittingly been granted, Swindler turned to her unlikely savior… only to pause in wary apprehension at the sight of a surprisingly concerned look on his face.
“Ya gotta stand up for yourself sometime, Swindler. Or else you might end up losing more than just your personal space.”
Swindler felt herself deflate at his words. As much as she wanted to rail against Brawler’s attempt to nose his way into her personal life, he had a point. While she may have been roped into a harebrained scheme with multiple persons of a criminal background, that didn’t mean that she could automatically sacrifice her wants and needs just for the sake of appeasing her new acquaintances.
But these were Akudama.
And Cutthroat was a serial killer.
It would have been a different case if Swindler was dealing with the same problem with Courier. She had no doubt that he killed people in the past, but he had a rigid moral code—but while that moral code was influenced by money changing hands in his favor, at least he could be swayed.
Cutthroat seemed dead set on foisting his affections on her.
She nodded in assent, her head hanging low. “Yeah.” Her voice was soft, nearly unintelligible amidst the evening breeze and the workings of the underbelly of a corrupt city. “I could end up dead.”
“Or worse.”
Her fingers curled into fists, her nails digging into her gloves, but nonetheless causing a brief moment of discomfort. “Or worse.”
“Punch me.”
Startled, Swindler’s fists loosened and her eyes widened upon the sight of mischief lighting up the man’s features. “Pardon?”
“You heard me, sister! Throw a punch!” At the silence, Brawler goodnaturedly held up two of his fingers, crossed them, and laid them on his chest. “Cross my heart, I won’t punch you back.”
“But—I just—” The young woman pinched her temples and blew through clenched teeth when she saw that her bluster and fluster had only strengthened the radiance behind his smile. “You know what? Forget it.”
Throwing all caution to the wind, she curled her fingers into a fist, reared back, and—
“Not bad. Any guy a third my size and a tenth of my reaction time could stop you, but not bad.”
Swindler cradled her dominant hand to her chest, her breathing rapid and ragged to combat against crying out in pain.
Brawler was built like a brick!
“You can cry, little lady. Ain’t nobody here to judge.”
Swindler gritted her teeth. “You’re here.”
“Yeah, but you don’t see me judging!”
Brawler… had a point. He was reckless and brash, but it was his fists that did all of the dirty work. For all of the harsh stereotypes that came to mind when Swindler had first seen him, he was surprisingly well adjusted and kind compared to the rest of the Akudama. Of course, he was a bit of a brute and his love for violence knew no bounds, but he had a moral code—something that Courier and Doctor seemed to lack.
As a compromise, Swindler allowed herself to moan in pain.
And then, as an afterthought, she yelled at him.
“What was that for? If you knew that I wasn’t going to exceed your expectations, why—”
“And there’s the little spitfire I could smell a mile away.”
Brawler effectively steamrolled over Swindler, but his earnest expression and look of pride on his face that was directed at her made Swindler feel appreciated. For that, she didn’t mind too much. She was, however, a bit surprised at his choice of words. Spitfire?
“Look, little lady, it’s not about the strength of the punch—” He looked rather pensive at that moment, as if remembering something, before continuing. “—but it does play a factor—I mean, why do you think I’m so strong? Anyway, it’s mostly your conviction. Determination. Whenever I see you with that creepy guy, it’s almost like you don’t got a backbone and that ain’t right. A lot of people are born with backbones.”
Swindler didn’t know whether she should be amazed at Brawler’s candidness or laugh at how bluntly he put his thoughts together.
She opted to ask one question that she had been entertaining since the start of this weird encounter. “I think I get what you’re saying, but why are you telling me this? You could have ignored what was happening, but you didn’t.”
Brawler was an Akudama, yes, but he was hiding a heart of gold underneath his rough and tumble exterior. It intrigued her. Did all Akudama hide more underneath the surface? What would happen if she were to speak with Doctor? Actually, no… Swindler probably wouldn’t get that far. That woman was not an ideal person to speak with, Akudama or not.
“Because,” Brawler limbered up his shoulders and struck a pose that emphasized his biceps. “Everybody deserves a fighting chance.”

My third request out of three is now available on AO3! This one was about Akudama Drive, and will be the only Akudama Drive work on my account for now. Oh well.
I mentioned this wasn't my favourite work, but after giving it a few edits, I think I improved its readability. I like it better now, and paying close attention, I think I put across everything I was going for. If you haven't yet, please consider reading this short Brawler-pov fic a read!

Surprise, it's me again.
I was looking for writing practice... and I decided on a short and simple one-shot with a familiar character.
I liked my first fanfiction, so I should probably take these opportunities when I see them.
Rating: Explicit Archive Warning: No Archive Warnings Apply Category: F/M
This one fits better with the theme of my blog, so I might need to write longer scenes in the future again.
