William Eugene Townes (March 24, 1933 – January 29, 2023)
He knew not just the names of cashiers, DMV clerks, and waitresses but also the names of their children, grandchildren, and pets. He could lay his hands on a twenty-five-year-old extended warranty in 15 seconds flat and grow enough vegetables in a weed-free backyard garden patch to keep his family in produce for a year. He thought nothing of raking and mowing a nearby widow's yard for twelve years so she could stay in her family home. Though busy with church ministry, a home business, and graduate work, he had time to read the Bible and pray with his family at breakfast each day and to join his children in their backyard basketball games after school. Throughout his retirement he treated every family member with a "Happy Birthday to You" solo on his harmonica and thrilled his grandchildren with rides on his red Suzuki motorcycle.
He was William Eugene (Gene) Townes: a hardworking, meticulous, generous, compassionate, loving, humble, faithful servant of God. Born on March 24, 1933, in Augusta, Georgia, he was the beloved husband of now-deceased Marian Rice for 64 years, father of Suzanne (Paul) Hamilton, Sara (Joe) Brazeal, Marcellyn (Bill) Reagan, and Bill (DeAnna) Townes, grandfather of 17 and great grandfather of 17.
He could lavish his love on others because the great love of his life, the Lord Jesus Christ, transformed him at the age of sixteen. While teaching a ninth-grade Sunday school class on Romans 10:9-10, God opened his spiritual eyes, causing him to see that he himself had never been saved. At that moment he put his faith and trust in Christ alone, and the trajectory of his life changed. Gone was the desire to become an FBI agent. Instead he enrolled at Bob Jones University, graduating cum laude in 1954 with a Bachelor of Arts degree, marrying Marian Rice that same year. Upon graduation, he taught Greek as a graduate assistant at BJU while earning his teacher certification.
In 1955 Gene and Marian worked for nine months as missionary interns at Inter-City Baptist Church (ICBC) in Allen Park, Michigan. On May 4, 1956, he was ordained by ICBC. Soon raising full support, they traveled by steamship to Brussels, Belgium in 1957, where they completed language school. In 1960 they traveled to the Belgium Congo, proclaiming the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ there and then in the Central African Republic until 1972 – communicating in French and the African languages of Lingala and Sango.
At that time he transitioned into full-time ministry at Inter-City Baptist Church first as principal and teacher in the Christian school and then as associate pastor until 1998, where he was respected and loved. Among dozens of roles across his decades of service-from Christian education director to vehicle maintenance man to hospitality coordinator-- many will remember his daily phone calls to check on spiritual and personal welfare, his visits to homes and hospital bedsides to share genuine concern and spiritual counsel, and his weekly newsletter with Bible teaching and prayer request updates. Drawing on his encyclopedic knowledge of vehicles, he also helped individuals and ministries across the country acquire affordable cars, trucks and vans from a local auto auction.
A lifetime student of the word of God, Pastor Townes was awarded the Master of Divinity degree from Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary in Allen Park, MI on May 13, 1983. Ten years later he completed the Doctor of Ministry degree from the Central Baptist Theological Seminary in Minneapolis, MN.
After his retirement, he continued working part-time at Inter-City, teaching Sunday school, visiting, and conducting funerals until December of 2019. Following the death of Marian on February 3, 2020, Pastor Townes moved to be near family in Ohio, where he ended his earthly pilgrimage, faithfully praying for each member of his family and for many others each day, despite many illnesses. The example he left his family, his friends, his care team, and his "chance" acquaintances was "follow me even as I follow Christ." He fulfilled the pledge of surrender he made to Christ during his college days: "I'll go. I'll do. I'll be."

Spoilers from Jay Garrick: The Flash
They took time all together for a new photo 🥹.

It's jarring and funny and sad to see the entire Flash family patiently waiting around and walking places and doing scouting trips for intel during One Minute War.
Tumblr media
Because, yeah, this is their normal speed. This is their normal behavior. We just aren't used to seeing it from their perspective.
They are calm and patient. They do think things through and make plans. People just can't see it because they're judging them based on the norm.
"Bart can't sit still for five minutes because he has a short attention span" no, it's more like "Five minutes is five hours to Bart and most people can't sit without moving for that long"

Fictober23 Prompt: 7 - "Do you recognise this?"
Fandom: DPxDC
Rating: G
Warnings: -
"So, who did it?" Bruce asked, eyes narrowed at the children before him. Clark was next to him trying once more to persuade Bruce that it was unnecessary to go after the kids like this.
The 'kids' in question were the assembly of three of his children, Clark's child and clone and a couple of their respected friends.
"Father, I do not know what you are talking about." Damian piped up offended and crossed his arms. Next to him Jon scratched the back of his head in mild confusion and Dani despite not knowing what was going on but still glaring in defiance at Bruce.
"If this is about our prank war it was definitely not necessary to interrogate our friends too." Tim added looking every bit like he would be somewhere else than here. Kon and Bart were with him. Kon looked rather unsure while Bart had gone and gotten himself popcorn for whatever was going to happen.
"Look old man, how was I supposed to know Replacement would trigger the glitter bomb inside the Batmobile. I already cleaned that up!" Jason put in his two cents, Roy eyeing the other with a raised eyebrow.
Bruce stared at them quietly, not saying a word as Clark continued to fuss next to him to not make it a big deal and that a deep clean would surely fix everything.
"It's not your prank war I am talking about. Alfred will deal with you about the chaos you caused." The three respected batkids swallowed audibly while their friends chuckled. "No, what I am asking is which one of you decided it was a good idea to dye Clark's hero suit and my cape pink."
"Wait, someone actually did that to Dad?!" Jon piped up wide eyed as Dani broke out laughing causing Damian to eye the ghost girl with narrowed eyes and suspicion.
"Who would…" Tim started but didn't finish as his mind came up with possible suspects. Kon on Bart next to him went onto their phones, trying to search up pictures of Superman in a pink hero suit.
Jason and Roy broke out laughing too, voicing their respect to whoever managed to do that.
Bruce's eye twitch at the children's reaction. He then proceeded to pull out an opened can of pink dye and placed it on the table in perfect view of everyone. "Do you recognise this? Jason? Tim?"
"WHY ME?!" They both cried out in protest and Bruce narrowed his eyes on the two. "Jason, your last prank on Tim involved a glitter bomb with pink dye, the Batmobile's seats are still strained pink. Tim, you dyed Damian's shirts pink a couple days ago at the beginning of your prank war."
"So it was you Drake! You are going to pay for this!"
"And I will do it again if you ever touch my laptop again, Demon Brat!"
"How does that even prove that one of us did it!"
"It doesn't!"
"Do you think there might be someone else that fell victim to the pink dye in the JL?"
"Maybe?"
"Why would someone even go after Clark? He has nothing to do with our prank war."
"Jason, my friend. You are indirectly admitting that you would dye Batman's cape pink."
Bruce pinched the bridge of his nose as the children before him (he ignored that at least two of them were over 20, they were children period) started to argue among themselves while Damian's newest friend the Daughter of Phantom, who recently joined the Justice League Dark, was by now rolling on the ground laughing.
Not far from the interrogation Danny sat by a table next to Alfred snacking on some of the best cookies he had ever gotten to eat. He had originally come by to hang out with Tim, Kon and Bart but now he was threaded to some A+ entertainment, Dani was clearly enjoying.
"You recognize the can, don't you Mr. Daniel? I believe you accidentally left it behind in the cave." Danny side eyed the butler next to him and grinned into his next bite of a cookie. "Supes deserved it."
The man hummed and Danny smiled as he was offered another cookie. "I believe I know why but would you please elaborate on why Master Bruce also got targeted? I will most likely be the one who will have to wash out the cape."
The half ghost didn't say anything at first before shrugging. "Kon wasn't the only one who deserved some Justice for how he had been treated in the past. I know they get along now but still… a little pay back for past mistreatment wouldn't hurt anyone right?"
"Ah, so it was for Mr. Conner and Master Jason." The butler smiled in understanding, pushing over a box of take away cookies to Danny. "May I suggest that next time you seek out justice for the boy, that there are other -embarrassing- ways to achieve it."
Danny only gave the man a feral grin as he hopped off the chair with the box in hand. It was time to release the children of Bruce's interrogation. He would just put the blame on Constantine somehow, like a spell gone wrong instead of actual dye being the cause. The man owned him anyway since he had gotten most of his soul back aside from a couple of pieces he was still negotiating over in the Ghost Zone.

Flash Headcanons that are semi-canon: -Iris is autistic and low-empathy and her hyperfixations are crime and horror. -The revenue from the Flash museum and associated tourism and merchandising goes directly to improving Central City and Keystone. -Barry freaking hates cars and driving and that may have been one of his driving reasons for helping to push high speed rail in and out of Central City. Give him a train any day of the week. -To be fully connected to the Speed Force, your human body has to be destroyed. If you do not have a full connection to the Speed Force then you're subject to rapid aging and other issues. Being born a speedster means you are born with a partial connection but something is going to have to solidify it for you. -The warping effects of the Negative Speed Force are a product of self-image. The NSF asks "What does a monster look like?" and then holds up a mirror. Eobard Thawne shows minimal warping because he already views himself as a monster. -The Speed Force can also warp a conduit's physical body if their self-image becomes damaged, because a (fully connected) conduit is not really a human being, they're a collection of energy arranged to look like a human being. -The Speed Force's bonds are emotional and non-linear, meaning if you will be attached to someone one day, you are and have always been tied to them and will always be. To be loved by a speedster is to have always been loved and always be loved. -Iris and Linda sometimes proof-read each other's work but have sworn off making suggestions--they have very different creative visions, so they stick to writing mechanics.
