Definition: A person(s), regardless of current systemhood or not, who is interested in starting the process of creating a tulpa (/etc for other variations). This includes basically anyone curious because they might want to make one but haven't yet, no matter how sure or unsure you are. Tulcurious people might still be learning the basics before diving in, might be still be deciding if they're ready for the long run or if they have the right reasons, might be learning more about how tulpas work because they're nervous, and more. (This also includes people who are planning on making a tulpa (/etc) because they want to "prove it wrong" lol)

Plural community coining!!! Ever wanted to be able to find info about whether or not to make a tulpa, or other created system member? Or maybe you want something to call yourself while you're still on the fence and learning? Or maybe you wanna talk about people who're still deciding without saying "people who wanna make a tulpa/willomate/paromate/etc" every single time. Well then, this word is for you! Hello lovelies, and welcome back to Tin's Favorite Sterek Fics! It's been a while, and for that, I'm sorry. I've been (and still am) going through a bit of a depressive episode. November's typically a tough month for me for a couple of reasons, but it hit harder than usual this year. Still, I wanted to come back and bring you another installment of Tin's Favorite Sterek Fics, just in case anyone needs a little Sterek to get them by like I have.

Side note: I'm actually thinking of doing a some, like, "feature" posts where I rec a single fic at a time, regardless of whether or not I've already rec'd it through this series, and actually explain what I like about the fics. Give a little endorsement, if you will. As much as I love all of the fics I have recommended throughout this series, I definitely have some go-to staple fics that I re-read with far more frequency than others. I can think of at least 3 off of the top of my head right this second...

Idk. Would any of you be interested in that? I might do it no matter what, just to have something to engage my brain a bit, but I have also been nearly catatonic with brain fog and just a general exhaustion of life, so. We'll see.

"What? No! Lots of werewolves have to wear one of these," Stiles says, waving the muzzle around. The leather and clasps jingle.

Derek sneers at him. "Wolves who can't control themselves."

"Pot and kettle, buddy. Wait, wait," Stiles says hurriedly when Derek turns to leave, "let's just... let's try it, okay? Come on, have I steered us wrong before?"

When Derek doesn't move, Stiles arches up, trying to wriggle free, but then he feels something wet and sticky against his stomach where his shirt has ridden up. He cranes his neck down and sees Derek's dick. It's distinctly non-human; red, with a tapered tip. Clear fluid drips from it.

"Oh holy god," he says, horrified and fascinated. "Is that - oh fuck."

Fourteen total, including the two at the door, he notes distantly, eyes feeling like they’re about to pop out of his head from bulging so hard.

Stiles knows this case inside and out. He’s racked up thousands of karma points on reddit for his thoughtful analysis, his pictures of the crime scene, and of his reporting of local gossip. Beacon Hills is a small town, small enough that Stiles is the only one on the Unresolved Mysteries subreddit to have actually seen the burnt out shell in person.

He’ll tell anyone who listens what he finds fascinating about the case. Absolutely no shame. He’s read all of the articles, he’s pestered his father’s deputies for more information, and he’s read every cold case compilation book that so much as mentions it.

No one knows this case like Stiles does.

“Oh my God, are you a real person in there?!” Stiles shouted in the wolf’s face, staring him right in the eye. He was still holding the wolf’s head with both hands, but Bacon dipped his muzzle in confirmation and Stiles officially lost his mind.

“Oh my God!” he shouted again, releasing Bacon to clutch at his own hair. “Oh my God! Dude, for real?! You’re—holy shit! Holy shit!” He didn’t know how to react to this news. He had no fucking idea how to react. This was a person?! But how?! How was this a person?! People didn’t just turn into wolves!

Hiya, I've been away from transandrophobia discussions for a while after deleting my main Tumblr account (don't feel comfy sharing it even now bc of paranoia from mental health stuff, sorry!)

I wanted to provide my perspective on discussions about whether transandrophobes are primarily transfem or transmasc.

There's two main things I've seen going on. Nearly every transfem sticking up for transmascs and discussions of transandrophobia has said they've witnessed transandrophobia primarily from transfems when talking about stuff within the community, minimally. A slightly smaller but still large majority of transmascs have said they've witnessed it mainly from other transmascs. Notably, the people most likely to label it as more even have been multigender and often some combination of transfem, transmasc, and/or transneutral.

So I wonder if there may be some kind of selection/anecdotal bias occurring just from the spaces people exist in, the people they seek out initially (and how that might lead their feed to become less diverse as they follow people reblogged by people they already follow, and so on). I mean, this will definitely be influenced by how much a person uses their dash vs searching and scrolling tags, ofc, but the few times I have asked people I've noticed following this pattern, the list of people they follow has skewed towards people with their same identity.

Secondarily, and this might be my own bias as a multigender/nonbinary person, but my main experience has been that the primary divide between transandrophobes and people who support transmascs has been, actually, whether or not they identify as a man or woman, but especially a singular binary gender. I've even noticed a bit of a sliding scale - someone who identifies as a nonbinary man or nonbinary woman is slightly more likely to be safe, on average, than someone who identifies wholly as a binary man or binary woman, and multigender, genderfluid, xenogender, and other identities that are either further from monogender or further from binary are even safer.

We've also noticed that intersex people, people of color, and subsets of the disabled community (which has its own major issues with exclusionary discourse, neuroableism and corpoableism, fakeclaiming, and minimizing the extent that neurodivergence can be disabling vs minimizing how hard it is for physically disabled and visibly disabled people to access treatment and care, but that's a whole other thing, let alone discourse in subcommunities or adjacent ones such as plural and alterhuman (which includes plurality but plural specific discourse is different) communities) also trend safer on this topic at least.

Aaaaaa tangent anyway

Again, this is purely anecdotal experience and is more about trends we've noticed than any individual people, as the number of bad faith actors in even the trans community as a whole is, we believe, much less than their loudness and belligerence leads people to believe (which may be wishful thinking, but we need to cling to that rn).

We see how you've tried to very carefully navigate the conversation to avoid making it inherently about identity while holding larger communities accountable. It's very clear that for you it's not about assigning blame, but rather addressing an issue amongst people who share your identity.

We still lean a bit to the side of "perhaps addressing it as a significant issue within the transfem community independent of whether it's more or less of an issue in other trans subcommunities might be more effective in reaching both fence-sitters and radicalized individuals" as a transneufemmasc system ourselves, especially since that also allows for more effective separate but concurrent efforts in transmasc and nonbinary communities to affect the transandrophobia there as well. But we actually feel safe and confident bringing the conversation about effective outreach praxis to you in the first place because we recognize the good intent behind the conversations you've already been having - there's already a clear foundation of solidarity and transunity there to build off of.

Basically we've appreciated your thoughts so far and would love to hear anything you wanna share about this ^^

I can see this. Before I started really talking about this issue at length, I really only ever got content from transfems on my feed. Sure, there was the occasional post from a transmasc, but it was usually either porn, or hornyposting. Never any real info on the transmasc experience. Hell, I never even really heard at all about any transmasc's experiences until I met my husband and we talked about our own experiences.

my main experience has been that the primary divide between transandrophobes and people who support transmascs has been, actually, whether or not they identify as a man or woman, but especially a singular binary gender. I've even noticed a bit of a sliding scale - someone who identifies as a nonbinary man or nonbinary woman is slightly more likely to be safe, on average, than someone who identifies wholly as a binary man or binary woman, and multigender, genderfluid, xenogender, and other identities that are either further from monogender or further from binary are even safer.

Yeah, again, I can see this. The main people who I see pushing transandrophobia (TA from now on, fingers sore today) are usually binary transbians. I don't know why, but that's what I've noticed. I think it may be partially due to point 1, where they never really talk to transmascs, so they are never exposed to the experiences that these people have, and thus are exposed only ever to transfems who talk about the issues that they face, and it makes it seem worse than it actually is, and puts them in an echo chamber.

It's similar to the established fact that has been studied a lot on a few things, where people's exposure to things in the media affects their perception on topics such as crime, poverty, homelessness, etc. Whatever the media shows more, people will think is happening more often than it actually is. If you're always watching cop shows where it's only ever young, black men being arrested, you'll eventually start to believe that young black men are the main perpetrators of crime, when in reality that's not the case. So, if you're only ever exposed to transfems, and hear about their experiences 100% of the time, you'll start to think that the problem is more widespread, and is the only problem that faces trans people, period.

It's very clear that for you it's not about assigning blame, but rather addressing an issue amongst people who share your identity.

Oh yeah totally. People have said "well, there's transandrophobic trans men and cis men/women too, it's not just a transwoman problem" in my inbox and replies a few times, and yeah, I can believe that. I just don't think it's my place to talk about those people, as that's not my community, and I haven't seen those people myself personally, so I can't speak on it at all. So, I stick with what I've seen myself, and not just taking people at their word, and parroting it as gospel. I believe it was David Hume that wrote in "An Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding" that personal experience always outweighs the word of another. I partially subscribe to this stance, and use it when talking about this very topic, because as we know, anyone on the internet can lie. So I'll only ever claim what I've seen, not what I've heard another person say they've seen.

I agree, and that's mainly what I try to do. I focus on calling out stuff I've seen from my own people, and working on debunking the claims being pushed. I do try to diversify here and there, and bring in how the discourse interacts with other communities, as to add some additional perspectives, using what I've learned from other vocal voices on the same issue. I feel like coming at the problem from various directions adds more external validity to my arguments, but I'll definitely take your input into account as I always welcome criticism.

We Need to Talk about Arnheid.

OP, I apologize for tagging you, but I saw this post and I was compelled to talk about it. I also didn't want to clog up your post with my own reblogging, and I thought this fit as it's own standalone post.

As someone who's recently watched this, I will say that I was decidedly on the fence about all of this until I took the time to think about it.

I don't necessarily see Gardar as an antagonist as much as a product of the setting he was in, as I view all of the characters in this sense. I'd like to give my own two cents on the matter if you don't mind.

If anyone would like to chime in, please by all means go ahead! Just be respectful and aware of the seriousness of some of the subject matter. Please treat it with the respect it deserves.

Everything and more, under the cut.

In the opening scene where we are introduced to Gardar for the first time, there are things to note and highlight who Gardar is even if he doesn't say all that much:

In the house, Gardar did not lay a single hand on the woman or her babe, only killing the male members of the household

It is heavily implied that he was grossly abused and mistreated by his slave master to the point where he was driven to do this in the first place

This shows that in his heart of hearts, it is implied that Gardar was not a man naturally inclined towards violence, only getting to that point due to what he already went through.

Now, I'll touch on Snake who, whether we like it or not, is upholding the status quo. He is a hired mercenary of sorts who is responsible for the safety of the farm and the goods within it. Gardar to him was considered a 'good' and was to be treated as such, but to be frank, so are all of the other slaves. So why do people think that Snake's hand was 'forced' in comparison?

I will admit that at first glance, I did wonder out loud why they were all helping out Gardar when he had cut down so many men, but then I realized something. Something that a lot of people conveniently forgot.

Most people were probably more focused on Thorfinn, Einar, and Arnheid as well as Sverkel and their entire dynamic with Snake, which lulled them into the sense that Gardar was kind of 'interrupting' that. What they (and myself at first) all failed to recognize was that it wasn't as much of an interruption as it was waking up from a nice dream: the reality of the world they are in is much more grim than that.

And most importantly, they forget one specific facet on which all of this hinged: Arnheid.

Now, I'm about to bring up some stuff that will make people uncomfortable, but I believe that it is important that I say these things with the gravity and significance they deserve. Any attempt to censor the words themselves would defeat the purpose of it, so I will be putting this under the cut.

For those of you who have watched it, you know what to expect, but for those who don't, this discussion will include slavery, physical abuse, rape, child murder, extreme violence, and death.

Treat this as a barrier. This is where I go into the meat of the matter in full.

Arnheid's story is one of a person who was genuinely trying to make the best of things that had happened to her, and even with that, it was not going to be enough for her to live. It never could be.

The author wrote out one of the most devastatingly bleak and emotional depictions of why 'Vinland' exists as a concept of 'paradise' and the symbol of freedom... by making Arnheid's experience the reason why people have it in the first place.

The Beginning

Let us go to the beginning of where she was in her village:

Arnheid married Gardar in an arranged marriage set up by their parents, but in a stroke of luck, they genuinely seemed to love each other and were happily raising their son Hjalti together.

The men of the village (including Gardar) decide to go to war over some resources and iron.

Arnheid and the other women in the village were not enthusiastic about this decision, as the village had more than enough iron already.

While the men were away, raiders came to the village and looted them as well as took the younger women as slaves.

Arnheid also has her son Hjalti taken from her and killed as unmarried women fetch a higher price.

This section serves as the cornerstone of everything that happens later in her story and already establishes more than a couple of key points for the entirety of Vinland Saga:

People will go to war for resources that they don't need.

People will raid villages for things that they don't need.

People will be enslaved because they are not seen as people.

People will be killed because they are not seen as people.

Arnheid at this point is viewed through the lenses of the lamenting wife, the grieving mother, and 'refurbished property'.

I use the last term because a mother with a baby likely would not have been 'sold' in the sense that their 'value' would have been perceived, so the raiders took care of that 'problem'.

So with that being said, this is the defining instance of Arnheid's identity of being a wife, a mother, and a person promptly stripped away. She, quite literally, was left with nothing.

The Enslavement

Now with that being said, let us explore what she experienced on Ketil's farm. I will preface this by saying that people really like to gloss over the severity of what her enslavement entailed. I will not be one of those today, so this is not for the faint of heart.

In her enslavement, Arnheid was bought for one specific purpose. Yes, she can be a maidservant to the master and his wife, she can help out with domestic duties, and she can be a caretaker for those who need it. But throughout the entirety of the anime, it is glaringly obvious for anyone with eyes:

She was bought for the purpose of the master's sexual gratification and satisfaction.

It is also worth pointing out one major difference between her and the rest of the slaves we focus on:

Pater was able to work to attain his freedom and did so. Einar and Thorfinn are granted the same opportunity to do the same.

Arnheid is not able to work her way out of bondage and was never offered the opportunity to do that.

My reasonings for this are quite simple, actually, and given the setting, it should come simple for you too: she is, for all intents and purposes, a woman. If Arnheid was a man, I guarantee you that she would have been able to work for her freedom because men are supposed to work.

She says it herself in multiple instances while she laments how she got here in the first place. Men decided to go to war, men enslaved her and killed her child, and a man bought her to use for his own wishes.

For people who want to debate this, there are multiple instances that we see, such as Ketil and her in his chambers, how Ketil talks about her, and how his wife treats her. It can be said that Ketil treats her relatively well compared to the others, but it doesn't change the fact that she's an unwilling participant.

Even if she abhors this treatment, how on earth is she going to call them out on it? Can she say no to Ketil? No. So she doesn't have a choice in the matter, and that alone constitutes rape.

Let me say this again. Arnheid was consistently raped.

With that being said, this also points out another batch of realities in her world:

People will be used for their master's own satisfaction and benefits because they are property.

People will be made to do things that they would not do themselves because they are property.

People will be abused, hurt, and violated because they are property.

Even in this bleak reality, it is to Arnheid's credit that she is taking it all quite well despite everything she has gone through up to this point. She could have broken down and she would be completely justified in doing so, but the strength of her spirit, character, and compassion have carried her through even to the uttermost.

This, however, would not be enough for what was to come.

The Reuniting

At this point, despite her endurance, Arnheid has been worn down to almost the barebones. Her husband is gone, her child is dead, and she is simply trying to make it work. Hell, she even finds some companionship with Thorfinn, Einar, and Sverkal. This moment of brief bliss of happiness and (dare I say) contentment is brought to an end by Gardar riding in with only one goal in mind: to find her and go home.

Here is why I think she reacted the way she did initially:

She was living with the mindset of making do with what she had.

She did not believe that a piece of her past, which she considers beyond her, was alive.

She was absolutely terrified of the man that she saw in the state that he was in.

Not only is her son with Gardar dead, she is pregnant with another man's child.

For the last point, the reason I single this one out is in those days, if a woman was thought to have committed such a thing (no matter the circumstance, really), Gardar would have been fully justified in cutting her down. This is just the state of the world she is living in.

She has already gone through so much, and now this instance presents itself and she has to deal with it. This moment was a turning point because it gave her something that she hadn't had for a while: a single kernel of hope. She acts on this, going to help him clean his wounds and perhaps escape.

However, I will also make the point that was touched on in the midst of the original post: Gardar's extreme violence was a product of his treatment. You cannot expect someone who had gone through what he had to be in a normal state of mind. In fact, I would be more surprised if he was intact.

This leads into the scene where Arnheid is tending to Gardar's wounds:

Gardar begs Arnheid to forgive her for leaving with the men in the village all those years ago

Arnheid begs Gardar to forgive her through tears, presumably for the pregnancy and Hjalti, but he's just confused

In the midst of this, Gardar is trying to reassure her that once they both escape, they can go back to how things were

True to this, Gardar kills a man with his teeth in his throat and Arnheid uses the knife from the dead man to cut his ropes

These are two very traumatized and very broken people. I can say this because their mutual experiences have turned them into people that have become so violent and so numb to their own selves. But the hope that they could leave... that is now what will fuel them both, Arnheid especially.

Now, Thorfinn, Einar, and Sverkal participate in her bid to run away with her husband as they too recognize the sorry state of the lot she's been dealt and are loathe to participate in it any longer despite their personal issues. There is also a worldliness about them that offers up how they know that the world they live in is truly wicked, which is why they help in the first place.

But it is in the instance where they are on the cart that there is a glimpse of the man Gardar really is: a man who loves his wife, his son, and the life he had made for himself. He even acknowledges that he won't let his son grow up into a warrior, noting precisely how terrible it —and the world— really is.

As he passes on from the wounds he sustained, she is caught, and this is where another thing should be noted about this:

Arnheid is a person.

Why do I say this? Because a person can hope. Property cannot. She, through this, had reclaimed her identity as a person and as someone who can hope. In the bleak darkness of circumstance, this is her brightest moment because it confirms her humanity.

But even then, it would be, like many others, snuffed out.

The Punishment

This part depressed me, fully and completely. It was unfair, it was unnecessary, and it was undeserved. You could use those words to describe everything that's happened to Arnheid thus far, and you would be correct to do so! Because it is! And that's the point.

So, here is the punishment in full:

She is tied up in a barn.

The guard that is watching her intends to rape her and says as much, making to do it then and there.

He also describes in excruciating detail how he and his comrades would have taken turns raping her for every life lost, highlighting the strangling and torture with sick glee while stating that he can't since she's the master's favorite.

This first section highlights and covers a few things, respective of the points in order:

An animal wouldn't have been treated like that.

Arnheid is not a person to this guard, she is an object.

The guard sees her as property, the master's property.

This brief exchange is unapologetic in how the world at large sees Arnheid outside of the meaningful interactions she has with others. She is not a person to them, but a means of feeling power and gaining their own satisfaction.

Before anything can happen, Ketil arrives with a stick and the guard scrambles away, but not before he poses a question: "Do you know who you belong to?"

He says that he won't forgive anyone who tries to steal his property, even if it's her.

This highlights how she is seen by the person who 'owns' her, stated within these specific points. He sees her as his property and he does not see her as a person. The latter point not only denies her as a person but layers it in the sense that her own personhood could put his property at risk.

She is then beaten with the stick, but in the midst of it, she begs for him to be gentle as she is pregnant with his child.

He beats her and kicks her regardless of this, calling her a liar and a thief.

Snake even stops Ketil from beating her anymore, saying that the crime befits the punishment of a beating, but to do more would kill her.

He also states that it is his right to kill her as she is his, but he ought to intend to do it.

One could attribute this to what Ketil is dealing with at the moment, but that is not the point here. The point is that Snake recognized that Ketil was beating her so much that she could die. While Snake is upholding the statement of her being property, he also takes into account the way that this ought to be handled and the intent of his master. There are no saints here, but I believe that even he knew that this was too much.

When Leif asks to purchase her, Ketil states that she is his and will not sell her.

I don't think I can make it any clearer, but this only goes to show that to the master, who bought her, she is nothing more than property.

Arnheid has been beaten so badly, she is unconscious and cannot be moved.

Pater states that he does not know if she will live as she is extremely injured.

Leif states that this would have eventually happened to her if she had stayed on the farm with Ketil.

This set of points is here to simply illustrate the inevitability of her end. Leif is right. Ketil could have been set off in any way if it was to do with the perceived ownership he had over her. Imagine if he had seen Einar getting too close to her. What then? Do you think he wouldn't have beaten her over that too?

As Arnheid is passing on, we see her with Gardar, Hjalti, and another baby in her arms on the cart.

This implies that even if she was able to make a full recovery from her injuries, either the miscarriage of the dead baby or the dead baby breaking down in her body would have killed her anyway. Just think about that for a minute as Ketil was so ticked off that his 'property' would lie.

The cart stops and Gardar says that she can take a moment to thank Thorfinn and Einar for their help.

She does, and while it is lamentable, her family is waiting for her... so she joins them.

This scene is sad, but it offers me a little happiness. It seems that Gardar wouldn't have killed Arnheid over the other baby. It seems that he would have taken them in as his own. You can say he forgave her, but I would say that I don't think he would have thought there was anything to forgive. They had both been through hell, after all.

Conclusion

Vinland, as a promised land, a slice of heaven, a refuge for those who seek shelter was a dream, an idea, a hope that people had. But for Arnheid, it would have been her salvation. With her death, this Vinland was crystalized and given form.

Would the promise of Vinland have saved Arnheid? We don't know. But we do know that her experience, her life after the fact, and her death would have been more than enough of a reason to wish Vinland into reality.

However, this does one more thing for her. It confirms that despite it all, she was, is, and always will be, a person.

And that people should never be treated like this.

She lived a life that was hard and quite bleak but even through it, she did her best and she was a person who deserved a world where:

You would not have to fight for resources, for there would be enough for all.

You would not have to worry about raids, because they could not reach you.

You would not have your child killed, because your child would grow up safe, happy, and taken care of.

You would not have your personhood stripped away, because no one would take it from you.

You would not be brutally raped and seen as an object of satisfaction, because no one would have that power over you.

You would not be beaten for acting out of line for property, because you would not be property.

You would be a person, a human being, because you would be free.

In a way, you could make the argument that through her story and her life, she is one of the most consequential and important characters in the entirety of this series.

Simply because she would have loved to live in a world like that.

How to Tag on AO3

this is for you guys ^

Okay, so tags are used for three purposes: 1, for people to find stuff they want to read, 2, for people to filter out stuff they don't want to read, and 3, to talk to the audience.

For purposes 1 and 2, it helps if similar things show up in the same search. So AO3 has tag wranglers that make that happen!

That means you don't need to tag every possible name for things, for starters. What you're going to do is start typing into each field and wait for the tag to show up in the dropdown. That's called a canonical tag. Most of the time, your fandom, character, and ship tags will already be there. Many of your additional tags will too. If they're not, then you can hit enter and let whatever you typed stand alone (called a freeform tag), but you don't need to tag "bangchan, bang chan, bahng chan, bahng christopher chan, chris bahng". Or "Sherlock Holmes/John Watson, John Watson/Sherlock Holmes, SHJW, johnlock, shwatsonlock." Another thing you don't need to do is typelikethis. Spaces are fine. Great even.

For character and relationship tags, think of purpose 1 and ask yourself: if someone clicked on this tag looking for this character/ship and found my fic, would they be disappointed? One time I wanted to read fics about Uncle Iroh, so I clicked the Iroh tag. But it turns out almost every fic in the fandom tags Uncle Iroh even though he's usually a background character, and it's basically impossible to find a fic centering him this way. Maybe don't tag your background characters.

Same for relationships. If someone is looking for a Tony Stark/Pepper Potts fic, but the fic really only mentions them, they don't want that fic in the tag. don't tag the ship.

Yes, you do have to use your judgment! But no one is going to come be the fandom police about it if they disagree with your take. Do your best, you'll get more confident the more you do it.

Before you go, think of purpose 2: is there a character or ship that a lot of the fandom hates in this fic, that people are likely to filter out? Consider tagging that too.

Additional tags: If you're on the fence about whether a character or ship should be tagged or not, consider putting them in the additional tags field! That keeps the fics from showing up in the tag, but people who have found your fic somewhere else will see it. Tags like this might look like:

Back to purpose 1: does your story have major tropes that people might be looking for, like Friends to Lovers or Coming Out or Hurt/Comfort? This is also why people tag specific sex acts and specific top/bottom alignments--sometimes folks looking for their porn are feeling specific. On to purpose 2: anything that might be an issue? If you have something like self-harm, child abuse, etc but it's just background, try typing it in and see if there's a canonical Implied/Referenced tag. You can add freeform tags if you want to give more nuance.

Miscellaneous: If your fic involves a breakup and get together with a new partner, and both relationships get a lot of screentime, you may want to tag both ships but put an Endgame: Sokka/Zuko type tag. If the thing you're a fan of is episodic, you may want to use tags like Episode Tag, Season 2 Spoilers, s03ep15: The Great Game (start typing and wait to see the format your fandom uses.), etc. Tag for Modern AU (again, start typing and wait: the canonical tag for this is Alternate Universe - Modern AU or something like that) or really any AU; on the opposite end you can tag for Canon Compliant but don't have to. Podfics should be tagged Podfic and also with the correct Podfic Length tag, optionally also with whether it's streaming and/or downloadable. Fanart and fanvids should be tagged as such. Usually minor variations of the archive warnings get tagged, e.g. minor character death, past character death, temporary character death.

All that being said, there are only a handful of ways to do tagging wrong. Those ways include:

using the archive warning system wrong. If your fic HAS one of the major archive warnings, you must either tag for that warning or tag Creator Chose Not to Use Archive Warnings. If you're NOT SURE if your fic has one of the major warnings, you can either tag it ('better safe than sorry' option) or tag Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings (with or without nuance in the additional tags). If your fic DOESN'T have any of the warnings, you can either pick No Archive Warnings Apply or Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings, but not both, please. These tag names are very literal. "Chose not to use" doesn't mean "decided none apply," it means "chose not to use." Reasons for this are myriad, and span from "not sure if this counts as a major character death" to "don't want to spoil the ending" to "I'm importing this fic from an archive and haven't read it." People may use Chose Not to Use and one of the other actual warnings, e.g. Rape/Non-Con, which usually means they're declaring the rape/non-con up front but choosing not to use warnings for some other aspect of the fic. Selecting both No Archive Warnings Apply and Chose Not to Use, though, is a contradiction.

Similarly, the rating: don't rate your fic G when it has sex in it. If you don't want to reveal your secrets, you can tag it Not Rated. Mature is fine for less detailed descriptions or other content you wouldn't hand to a teenager. Better safe than sorry.

Tagging something that just isn't there, actually: you added tags "for exposure," you tagged it F/F when it's all about a male/male romance, you're putting every single tag you can think of just to piss off everyone who has to scroll past it, etc. Don't tag both a fandom and its RPF version in the same fic unless both get significant screentime. For example, don't do this:

RPF is Real Person Fiction and is about the actors in this case. People cross-tag this 'for exposure' too, but it just annoys everyone in both fandoms. RPF is a very different flavor of fic and nobody looking for either fandom is going to appreciate your fic clogging up the tags, even if they consume both. Other folks just don't know the difference. And finally, 4: Talking about how bad your fic, summary, or title is! This one isn't quite in the same category as the others--it's not archive misuse, it's just shooting yourself in the foot and it's kind of depressing. You don't need to apologize for your own writing. Your tags + summary are the only advertising you get, don't spend it talking about why readers shouldn't click. And yes, that goes for "summary sucks but the fic is better, just read it lol". Imagine you're walking through the bakery and one of the cakes is labeled, "it's pretty bad!" or "ugly but tastes good!" Are you gonna pick that cake, or the one next to it? (This is also the reason I personally seldom tag Not Beta Read, but I'm not going to include that in the list because it's very common and I don't want people to feel bad about it.)

Other than that, tag according to your heart! You don't need to follow these guidelines. Readers are within their rights to request additional tags but as long as you have appropriately tagged the archive warnings, you are not obligated to tag anything else.

Danny Phantom AU for the League (explanation under the cut)

There's a common (?) idea in the phandom that Sam dyes her hair black (or that her mom bleach her hair from black) and asdfghj that fits so well for Dabi. I can also see him being edgy and wearing eyeliner (he would tightline and you can't convince me otherwise) and eyeshadow to piss off Endeavor. (You can hardly see it, but I promise he has purple eyeshadow under his eyes.) I've been thinking about it and I'm not sure how Natsuo, Fuyumi, and Shoto would fit into this AU. Cousins? Maybe just siblings, and ignore Sam's only child-ness.

Many an artist has bemoaned it (me included), so I decided to make Shigaraki's also confounding. (it's like??? a mullet???? but the mullet has layers????) Danny having Lichtenberg figure scars has recently had a resurgence in phandom and it's the perfect excuse to keep the scars around Shigaraki's mouth/eyes. (To symbolize the "scary eyes" and ghost sense.) Shigaraki gets to keep Danny's whole "getting new powers every time he needs to" shtick: one - because it's funny and two - it ties into the whole AFO quirk plotline. SPEAKING OF. AFO gets to take Vlad's place :)))) except!!! I think it'd work better if AFO was a "friend" of Tenko's grandmother and that's how he's weaseled his way into the family. No Vlad wanting Maddie and killing Jack subplot. Just AFO up to his usual shenanigans. (Hana as Jazz. Jazz loves her brother and tries to support him but is also overbearing and ignores what he says in favor of what she wants. I feel like an older Hana would fit into that well.... not that we know much about Hana, but from what can be gathered I think it'd fit. And Danny wanted a dog! Eventually has Cujo tagging along! Also a very good mirror for Mon and Tenko.)

Tucker! Spinner! my loves!!!! I wasn't sure originally if I wanted Spinner to be a ghost or a human, but as we can see I plopped him in Tucker's role. Because it fits so well. (I still vividly remember the post about "who loves Danny more? Valerie or Sam. the answer: neither, it's Tucker. Savant Par and Spinaraki mimicing the much larger fanbase for Amethyst Ocean and Shigadabi) Also, Spinner getting to connect with Tenko over games (DOOMED) and technology. I imagine that Spinner wears a bandana to cover up his roots showing. I see Tucker as taking special care of his appearance, but I don't see where Spinner's like that, so he gets a lazier option :) Oooooh should I give Spinner glasses? ooooh I bet he'd have glasses, but never want to wear them because they'd make him look nerdy. Anyway, just like Tucker and Danny, Spinner would face his fears to help and support Shigaraki :))))) (crying over his devotion)

Other Characters:

Dash, Paulina, Kwan, and Star? Maybe Uraraka and Toga as Johnny 13 and Kitty? hehehee could be cute. the fights and getting back together and Toga having to blow off steam in the human world? Kwan befriends Sam and Tucker, so maybe Twice would fit into Kwan's role? OH!!! And then have Hawks be Dash. (I don't think anyone has ever shipped Sam and Dash but that's why this is an AU.)

Deku can be Poindexter.... cause bullying (asdfghj yea it sidelines Deku a bit and sticks him in a very minor role and is an easy choice, but!! some fics make Poindexter and Danny kind of friends!! I think that'd be a nice mirror to what Shigaraki and Deku could've been - along with the initial misunderstandings that Poindexter has about Danny mirroring the way that Deku had to learn more about Shigaraki.

Ember? Maybe as Compress.... he has the theatrics DOWN lmao. And Magne as part of the band perhaps? That'd be cute.

the mysterious grey market clothes are here! alas, i do not have these items in my collection already, so I can’t do any direct comparisons. additionally, the tags were cut out of both pieces, though i will still show the stubs in case they’re of interest to someone.

first, kirsten’s robe.

based on pictures i’ve seen online, both the red plaid and the blue floral collar fabric seem dead on in terms of pattern. it’s hard to tell fabric type from pictures, but they at least look right. the best way i can describe them as someone who doesn’t know fabrics, is they are similar in weight and texture to those pre-cut quilting variety packs michael’s has, and they also kinda feel like the fabric of a bandana? off the top of my head, I can’t think of any ag item I’ve felt that had a similar fabric.

the most notable detail here to me is that the buttons are wrong, though that could mean nothing lol. the buttons are meant to be black and also a different type of button. on top of this, you might notice the top button missing - it was attached so poorly it came off as i was opening the robe (i’ll have to reattach it later).

overall, im relatively sure this was made at least with the same fabric as the original robe. im not sure whether the buttons were changed at some point during the original production of the robe, and I can’t think of a reason AG would change them so drastically for a relaunch. im on the fence about whether this was just in storage somewhere or whether it was recently made.

next, sam’s base birthday dress.

friends who have this outfit officially - is the fabric really slippery and shiny??? it does not have the texture i was expecting at ALL haha. it’s a very similar texture to felicity’s blue christmas gown (but shinier). if that’s not normal, i am leaning towards this being just made off a pattern. i know there’s a tag stub but that doesn’t necessarily mean anything lol.

if the fabric IS accurate, im 99% sure this was just in storage somewhere. the velcro is all wrong for modern AG (hence why i included a shot of the velcro inside).

in conclusion: i still have no idea what’s going on here. nonetheless, im quite glad i was able to add a version of these items for my collection for a good price, whether they are the official versions or not. im especially pleased with kirsten’s robe, which has some absolutely wild secondhand prices.

Or, well, that's not entirely true. It would end happily because that's the only way I want my stories to end, but it deals with pretty heavy subjects and there would be quite a lot of angst involved. Which, admittedly, is why I'm still not entirely sure if I want to write this one since angst isn't really my thing. BUT it also has a lot of fascinating introspection from Yo Han so that might end up being what tips the scale.

Basically, it's a fic that goes deeper into what I wrote in this earlier ask about how Yo Han would need a lot of time to figure out whether or not he wants kids. After all, there's a lot to work through what with his own childhood and how he perceives himself as something not quite human. And, I mean, how fascinating wouldn't that be? To watch him try to think his way through a decision like that?

Anyhow. I wrote in the tags to that post that I don't even want to IMAGINE how painful it would be if Ga On was led to believe that Yo Han doesn't want kids because he'd be so heartbroken and disappointed — since Ga On definitely wants kids — but also wouldn't want to pressure Yo Han. So he'd just swallow it down and pretend that everything was fine. Except it's clearly not.

And I was foolish enough to say "I refuse to even entertain the idea" because, as we all know: famous last words.

Because I started wondering just what that would do to Yo Han. Like, what would he think and feel when he realises that he accidentally broke Ga On's heart and now has to figure out if he actually wants kids after all. Because he knows that just saying he's changed his mind won't work since Ga On wouldn't want Yo Han to lie to him about something like that. Yo Han would have to mean it and that would only increase the stakes in his mind.

Also, imagine Yo Han's brain running on overdrive trying to analyse every little thing Ga On does, wanting to figure out if he's made irreparable damage to their relationship. Like, he'd try to see if Ga On's smiles have become less bright, if his hugs have become less enthusiastic, if he's become more guarded, if he's become more distracted etc. etc.

It would be such a goddamn mess inside Yo Han's head.

Basically, what I find fascinating about this fic would be Yo Han's thought process and how he tries to deal with all the emotions and complications the situation causes. But it would also hurt because Ga On would be sad and if Ga On is sad, Yo Han is sad. Everyone would be sad.

But it would also include this hilarious exchange between Yo Han and Elijah, once Yo Han is beginning to get used to the idea of getting kids and has to see how Elijah would react to it.

Sooo yeah. I'm still on the fence about this one, I will admit, but it would be a pretty nice change of pace since it would basically be more of a stream-of-consciousness thing from Yo Han's POV rather than something plot-heavy. So we'll see!

Maybe I'll write it, maybe I won't.

Ghosted. Again. I cannot stress this enough, FUCK real men. I’m done. I’m so sick of all the emotional stress and drama, I’m going back to self shipping full time now. I don’t really know if I’ll share much of it since I’ve had so much hate in the past but I know Bi-Han will always be there for me, I’m still on the fence whether or not to include Syzoth because his dynamic with Bi-Han is so bad so I don’t know. I apologize in advance. My mental health is worlds better the last two years or so after getting medications that actually work but it’s not perfect and probably won’t ever be. I have so much trauma from my Mother growing up and my heart transplant that I don’t know that I’ll ever really be “good” I just know it’s “better”.

So sorry to bother you but I’m a writer as well but not of smut, I wouldn’t know how to write it but i’ve posted a few Bucky work’s recently that have got zero traction and it’s really unmotivating not getting any attention for the work i do, i use all the right tags and stuff but it doesn’t seem to get me anywhere.

do you have any tips on how i could get my work to gain traction?

You are not a bother, nonnie, and no apologies. I understand the frustration and discouragement when you put so much into your fics, but the traction isn't there. Interaction is hit and miss for many, myself included. Our worth isn't tied to our note count, but saying that to ourselves doesn't make our feelings immediately disappear.

I answered a similar ask here for writers who want to get their works out there more and connect within the community. I also answered a similar as here with a writer who was on the fence about whether or not they wanted to continue posting on this site due to lack of feedback. I hope this help and I hope things look up. ❤️
