One Step at a Time
Tumblr media
Mina is an idol, a princess, and an enigma. She was a star that burned brightly in the sky but always just out of your reach. She was a beauty like none other, like an angel who had descended onto Earth. She was your best friend, with whom you shared everything—everything except the one secret you kept hidden because you were scared of ruining the friendship you cherished the most.
“Mina, we need to leave soon. The music video shoot will start in a bit,” you reminded her as you finished packing some necessities.
Mina emerged from her room, her radiant smile lighting up the space. “Yes! Just one sec, I need to grab my Switch from the console,” she said, heading to the TV.
You watched her with a mixture of admiration and longing. She was effortlessly graceful, her every movement a dance, every glance a spark of life. Being her manager had its challenges, but the hardest part was hiding your feelings. You admired her from afar, cherishing every moment you spent together, yet always mindful of the line you couldn’t cross.
As Mina gathered her things, you took a deep breath, steadying yourself for another day of keeping your emotions in check. You loved her dearly, more than she could ever know. The way her eyes sparkled with excitement, her laugh that could brighten the darkest day, her unwavering dedication to her craft—every aspect of her drew you in deeper.
Your mind drifted back to the countless nights you’d spent talking about dreams, fears, and everything in between. She was your confidante, your muse, your everything. But you were just her manager, her best friend, the one who was always there but never close enough.
“Got it! Let’s go,” Mina called out, breaking your reverie. She flashed you a smile, and your heart ached with the weight of your unspoken words.
As you made your way to the car, you stole glances at her, committing every detail to memory. The way her hair caught the light, the subtle scent of her perfume, the way her eyes twinkled with anticipation. Each detail was a precious fragment of the person you loved but could never claim.
“How are you feeling today? Are you ready for the shoot?” you asked, occasionally stealing glances at Mina through the rearview mirror.
“Yes! Thanks to you I got some much-needed rest. If you hadn’t taken my Switch, I might have ended up playing the entire night,” Mina said with a playful smile.
You chuckled. “Well, someone has to look out for you. You know how you get with those games.”
“I do, I do. And you’re always there to keep me in check,” she replied, her tone affectionate. “I don’t know what I’d do without you.”
You felt a pang in your chest but kept your voice light. “Probably pull a few all-nighters and show up to shoots with panda eyes.”
Mina laughed, the sound like music to your ears. “True! And then you’d have to deal with a grumpy, sleep-deprived me. Not a pretty sight.”
“Hey, I’ve seen you at your worst, and you still look like an angel,” you said before you could stop yourself.
She blushed slightly, looking out the window. “You’re too kind. Really.”
There was a comfortable silence for a moment, filled with the hum of the car and the city sounds outside. You took a deep breath, feeling the weight of your unspoken feelings settle back into place.
“So, what’s on the agenda for today’s shoot?” she asked, changing the subject.
“It’s the final scenes for the music video. Lots of choreography, some close-ups. The director wants to capture that ‘ethereal princess’ vibe you do so well,” you explained.
Mina nodded, her excitement palpable. “I love those kinds of shoots. They’re always so magical.”
“And you make it look effortless,” you added, your admiration clear.
She glanced at you through the mirror, her eyes soft. “I have a good team behind me. Especially you.”
Your heart swelled with emotion. “Just doing my job.”
“More than just your job,” she said quietly. “You’re always there for me, in ways I can’t even begin to describe.”
You swallowed hard, the intensity of your feelings threatening to spill over. “That’s what friends are for, right?”
“Right,” she echoed, her voice filled with something you couldn’t quite place.
*****
The shoot went smoothly, finishing no later than late afternoon, much faster than scheduled due to Mina’s professionalism.
“Good work, Mina! You were amazing out there!” you complimented her.
“Thank you! I’m so tired,” Mina said, walking toward you to grab the drink you were holding.
“So, what else is on the schedule for today?” she asked, sipping her drink.
“You have group practice coming up later this evening, and by 8 p.m., you should be done and free to go home,” you informed her.
“Yay! I can’t believe I’m getting out so early today!” Mina cheered.
******
Later, you drove her to the JYP Entertainment building. Mina was in high spirits, humming along to the radio as you navigated through the city traffic. Upon arriving, she waved at a few familiar faces and headed towards the practice rooms.
As you walked down the hallway, Mina spotted Hyunjin from Stray Kids. He was leaning against the wall, scrolling through his phone. When he saw Mina, his face lit up with a warm smile.
“Noona! Great to see you,” Hyunjin greeted, straightening up.
“Hey, Hyunjin! It’s been a while,” Mina replied, returning the smile.
The two of them chatted for a bit, catching up on their busy schedules. You watched them interact, noting the easy camaraderie between them. They laughed and teased each other, the conversation flowing naturally. At one point, Hyunjin playfully ruffled Mina’s hair, and she swatted his hand away, giggling.
“You’re always messing up my hair,” she complained, but her tone was light and affectionate.
“Just keeping you on your toes,” Hyunjin teased back.
The moment was sweet, a reminder of the strong bonds formed within the industry. You felt a pang of jealousy but quickly brushed it aside. Mina’s happiness was what mattered most.
“I’ve got to head to group practice now,” Mina said, glancing at the time. “Catch you later, Hyunjin!”
“Good luck!” Hyunjin called out as she turned to leave.
Mina walked over to you, her smile still lingering from the interaction. “Ready?” she asked.
“Ready,” you replied, leading her to the practice room.
Inside, the other members were already warming up. Mina joined them, her focus shifting seamlessly to the task at hand. You watched from the sidelines, admiring her dedication and skill. She moved with a grace that was both powerful and effortless, her presence commanding the room.
As practice continued, you kept an eye on the time, making sure everything stayed on schedule. Mina’s energy never wavered, her passion for performing evident in every move. You felt a swell of pride, knowing that you played a small part in supporting her journey.
When the clock struck 8 p.m., practice wrapped up. The group exchanged a few words of encouragement before heading out. Mina approached you, her face flushed with exertion but glowing with satisfaction.
“All done for the day,” she said, a hint of relief in her voice.
“Great job today, Mina. You were incredible,” you praised.
“Thanks to you,” she replied softly.
You smiled, your heart full. “Ready to go home?”
“You go on and head home, Hyunjin wanted to grab some food so I am going to meet with him and have him drop me home,” Mina says
Hearing Mina’s gratitude made your heart swell, but it also brought a sharp pang of longing. A part of you wanted to stop her from going, to hold her back and keep her close, but you knew you had no right to do that. Being powerless in this situation, you could do nothing but nod and say, “Okay, good night, be careful!”
She gave you a warm smile. “Good night. See you tomorrow!”
You watched her walk away, every step pulling her further from you. The ache in your chest grew, but you forced a smile, hiding the turmoil within.
After Mina left, you made your way to your office to pack up. The room felt emptier than usual, the silence almost suffocating. You gathered your things, trying to focus on the tasks at hand, but your mind kept drifting back to Mina. The image of her smiling face, and her gentle words, lingered in your thoughts, a bittersweet reminder of what you could never have.
As you headed home, you took a detour through the parking lot. That’s when you saw them—Mina and Hyunjin. They were standing by his car, talking animatedly. Then, to your dismay, Hyunjin pulled her into a hug. She hugged him back, her expression relaxed and happy.
A wave of jealousy crashed over you, raw and intense. You gripped the steering wheel, your knuckles turning white. The helplessness you felt was overwhelming, the realization that you had no place at that moment, no right to feel this way, cutting deep.
Mina and Hyunjin broke apart, and she got into his car. You watched as they drove away, the taillights disappearing into the night. The sense of loss was almost tangible, a hollow ache that settled in your chest.
When you finally arrived home, the emptiness of your apartment felt even more pronounced. You dropped your bag by the door and sank onto the couch, staring at the ceiling. The events of the evening played over and over in your mind, each memory tinged with longing and regret.
You closed your eyes, trying to push away the thoughts, but they persisted. The sight of Mina and Hyunjin together, the easy affection between them—it was a stark reminder of everything you couldn’t have. The love you felt for her, unspoken and unrequited, weighed heavily on your heart.
Reaching for your phone, you scrolled through the photos you had taken during the shoot. Each picture was a testament to Mina’s beauty and talent, but also a painful reminder of the distance between you. You lingered on one photo, in particular, a candid shot of her laughing. It was a moment of pure joy, unguarded and real. You wished you could be the one to make her laugh like that, to share in her happiness in a way that went beyond friendship.
But you knew it was a dream, a fantasy that would never come true. Loving Mina from afar was all you had, and it had to be enough. You had to accept that.
******
This was the last music show Twice would be on for this comeback. The comeback had gone exceptionally well, with the group winning numerous awards. After this final performance, all the members were given some well-deserved free time to relax and enjoy themselves. As everyone waited in the dressing room, the atmosphere was filled with laughter and excitement.
You were busy making sure everything was in order when Hyunjin appeared at the door, carrying bags of food and drinks. He wore a bright smile, his presence immediately lifting the already jubilant mood.
“Hey everyone! I brought some snacks and drinks to celebrate your amazing comeback!” Hyunjin announced, his voice full of enthusiasm.
The members of Twice cheered, grateful for the thoughtful gesture. “Hyunjin! Thank you so much!” they chorused, crowding around him to take the treats.
You watched as Hyunjin handed out the food and drinks, your eyes inevitably drawn to Mina. She accepted a drink with a grateful smile, and then, to your dismay, Hyunjin made a beeline for her. They began chatting animatedly, their laughter filling the room.
You tried to focus on your tasks, but your attention kept drifting back to them. The way Hyunjin leaned in slightly when he spoke, the way Mina’s eyes sparkled with genuine happiness—each detail stoked the fire of jealousy burning in your chest.
From the corner of your eye, you saw Mina gently touch Hyunjin’s arm, her gesture full of warmth and familiarity. It was a small act of affection, but it cut deeply. You felt powerless, standing there with your heart aching and your mind racing.
Trying to shake off the feelings, you busied yourself with organizing the room, making sure everyone had what they needed. But the image of Mina and Hyunjin together was seared into your mind.
Finally, you stepped outside for a moment, needing some air. The hallway was quieter, offering a brief respite from the whirlwind of emotions. You leaned against the wall, closing your eyes and taking deep breaths.
******
It had been two weeks since the holidays started, and as of today, it was the eighth time you were driving Mina to meet with Hyunjin. Each time hurt just as much as the first, and you had finally decided that this would be the last. You had asked to be transferred to a different department, and today you would tell Mina about it.
The drive was quiet, the air filled with unspoken tension. You stole a glance at Mina, who was looking out the window, a small smile playing on her lips. It made your heart ache, knowing this was the last time you’d be doing this.
When you arrived at the café where Hyunjin was waiting, you parked the car and turned to Mina. “Mina, can we talk for a moment before you go in?”
She looked at you, her smile fading slightly. “Sure, what’s up?”
You took a deep breath, trying to steady your nerves. “I’ve asked to be transferred to a different department.”
Mina’s eyes widened in surprise. “What? Why?”
You forced a smile, trying to keep your voice even. “I think it’s time for a change. I’ve been with you and the group for a long time, and I feel like it’s time to explore new opportunities within the company.”
“But… I need you,” Mina said softly, her eyes searching yours. “You’ve always been there for me. I don’t know what I’d do without you.”
Your heart clenched at her words, but you pushed forward. “You’ll be fine, Mina. You’re strong and talented, and you have a great team to support you. It’s not like I’ll be gone completely; I’ll just be in a different department.”
She looked down, her fingers fidgeting with the strap of her bag. “I guess… I just didn’t expect this. It feels sudden.”
“I know,” you said gently. “But I’ve been thinking about it for a while. It’s not an easy decision, but I believe it’s the right one for both of us.”
Mina took a deep breath and nodded, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. “If this is what you want, then I won’t stop you. But I’ll miss you. A lot.”
You smiled, trying to hide your pain. “I’ll miss you too, Mina. More than you know. But this isn’t goodbye forever. We’ll still see each other around.”
She reached out and took your hand, squeezing it tightly. “Promise me you’ll take care of yourself. And if you ever need anything, you’ll let me know?”
“I promise,” you said, squeezing her hand back. “You take care of yourself too. And keep being the amazing person you are.”
Mina nodded, her grip on your hand lingering for a moment before she let go. “I should go. Hyunjin’s waiting.”
You nodded, watching as she got out of the car and walked towards the café. As she greeted Hyunjin with a warm smile and a hug, you felt the familiar pang of jealousy and heartache. But you knew this was the right decision, for both of you.
******
The next few weeks had been the worst. No matter what you did, you always thought about Mina, missing her laugh and her silly conversations. You knew it was for the best to avoid her because you needed to get over your feelings for her. So you drowned yourself in work, starting a new project on the production team for a new music video. All you did was eat, work, and sleep, not going out or even meeting with any of your friends.
One night, just as you were about to sleep, the doorbell rang. To your surprise, it was Jihyo. She was one of the other members you were close to.
“Hey, what is this I’m hearing? Are you no longer Mina’s manager?” she questioned.
“Yeah, it’s been a few weeks since I was transferred. Did she not tell you?” you replied coldly, not wanting to continue the conversation.
“She did, but the reason you gave her makes absolutely no sense. I know you, and you would never leave Mina, no matter how bored you got with the work. Otherwise, you would have never been her manager. So tell me, what is the real reason you left?” Jihyo asked her tone firm yet concerned.
You sighed, feeling the weight of your emotions pressing down on you. “Jihyo, it’s complicated. I... I have feelings for Mina. And it was getting too hard to be around her, especially when she’s spending so much time with Hyunjin.”
Jihyo’s eyes softened with understanding. “Oh, I see. But from what I can see I don’t think they are dating. He’s been supportive during her comeback, but I don’t think there’s anything more than that.”
You shook your head, the pain still fresh. “It doesn’t matter. I needed to distance myself. It was too painful watching them together, even if they were just friends. I couldn’t keep pretending everything was fine.”
Jihyo looked at you thoughtfully. “I get it. But you know, Mina misses you. She’s been asking about you a lot. She doesn’t understand why you left so suddenly.”
“She’ll be fine, Jihyo. She has you and the rest of the group to support her,” you said, trying to convince yourself as much as her.
Jihyo sighed. “You’re right, but it’s not the same. You were always there for her, more than just a manager. She needs you, even if she doesn’t realize it.”
“I appreciate you coming here, Jihyo, but I’ve made my decision. I can’t go back. It’s too much,” you said, your voice filled with resignation.
Jihyo nodded slowly, seeing the determination in your eyes. “Alright. But if you ever change your mind, know that we’re here for you. And if you need to talk, about anything, I’m here.”
“Thanks, Jihyo. It means a lot,” you replied, feeling a small sense of relief from her understanding.
After Jihyo left, you thought a lot about what she said and how much you missed all the other girls. Realizing how your decision had affected not just Mina but also the rest of the members with whom you were close, you began to reconsider. Though you were busy with work, the occasional messages from them reminded you of the bond you shared.
A few months passed since your conversation with Jihyo. After the shooting of the music video and the comeback schedule finished, you were promoted to the head manager of Twice. It wasn't something you were particularly excited about, but the significant pay rise made it an offer you couldn't refuse. Still, you knew it was going to be challenging.
Not long after your promotion, you found out that Mina was dating Hyunjin. The news hit you hard, but you chose to ignore it and focused on your work. It was painful, but you buried yourself in your new responsibilities, determined to make the best of the situation.
Despite your busy schedule, you found solace in spending time with Jihyo. Whenever the two of you had free time, you would hang out and talk about various things, with golf being a frequent topic of conversation. Jihyo had insisted you try it, and to your surprise, you found it quite enjoyable.
One afternoon, after a particularly long day, Jihyo invited you to the driving range. "Come on, you need a break. Let’s hit some balls and unwind," she said, her tone light and encouraging.
You smiled, grateful for her persistence. "Alright, Jihyo. Lead the way."
As you both practiced your swings, the conversation flowed easily. Jihyo’s laughter and positive energy were infectious, helping you forget your troubles, even if just for a little while.
"So, how are you holding up with all the new responsibilities?" Jihyo asked, adjusting her stance.
"It's been a lot, but I'm managing," you replied, taking a swing. "I just try to stay focused on the work and not think too much about... other things."
Jihyo nodded, understanding. "I know it’s tough, but you’re doing great. We all appreciate everything you do for us."
Her words brought warmth to your heart. "Thanks, Jihyo. That means a lot."
As the sun began to set, you both sat down on a bench, enjoying the peaceful evening. "You know," Jihyo said thoughtfully, "I'm really glad we’ve been spending more time together. It’s nice having someone to talk to about things outside of work."
You nodded in agreement. "Yeah, it’s been good for me too. I’ve needed the distraction."
Jihyo smiled, her eyes twinkling. "Well, anytime you need to vent or just hang out, I’m here. We’re all in this together, right?"
"Right," you agreed, feeling a sense of camaraderie and support that you hadn’t felt in a long time.
*******
Walking through the halls after taking a few printouts, you were suddenly pulled into a room. "Oh my god! What the fuck?" you screamed out of surprise.
It was even more shocking because it was Mina, who you hadn’t spoken to about anything other than work since you came back as the head manager. “Oh Mina, what happened? Is anything wrong?” you asked, trying to be professional despite your racing heart.
Mina’s eyes flashed with a mixture of emotions. “What’s wrong? You tell me! Ever since you came back, you’ve been avoiding me. You spend all your time with Jihyo now. What’s going on?”
You took a deep breath, trying to stay calm. “Mina, it’s not like that. I’m just trying to do my job and—”
“Do your job? You barely even look at me anymore! We used to be so close, and now it’s like I don’t even exist to you unless it’s about work,” she interrupted, her voice rising.
“Mina, please understand. I needed some distance. It’s not personal,” you explained, your voice gentle but firm.
“Not personal? It feels pretty personal to me!” she shot back, her frustration clear. “I see you laughing and talking with Jihyo all the time. Why can’t you be like that with me?”
You sighed, struggling to find the right words. “Mina, it’s complicated. You have Hyunjin now, and I—”
Mina cut you off, her eyes narrowing. “What does Hyunjin have to do with this? This is about us. Our friendship.”
Before you could respond, she stepped closer, her eyes searching yours. “I miss you. I miss us,” she whispered, her voice breaking slightly.
Your heart ached at her words, but you knew you had to stay strong. “Mina, you have no idea how much I’ve missed you too. But things are different now.”
Her eyes filled with a mixture of desperation and determination. “Why can’t we go back to the way things were?”
As you tried to explain, she suddenly leaned in, her lips brushing against yours in a brief, impulsive kiss. Shocked, you gently pushed her away, your heart pounding. “Mina, you can’t do this. You’re with Hyunjin.”
Mina stepped back, her face a mask of confusion and hurt. “I—I don’t know what came over me. I’m sorry.”
You took a deep breath, trying to steady your emotions. “It’s okay, but we can’t do this. You need to figure out what you want.”
Mina nodded, tears welling up in her eyes. “I just… I don’t understand why this is happening. I don’t want to lose you.”
“You’re not losing me, Mina. I’m still here, just in a different way,” you said softly. “But you need to be honest with yourself and with Hyunjin.”
She wiped her eyes, trying to compose herself. “You’re right. I’m sorry for putting you in this position.”
She left you alone in the room, and you collapsed to the ground. Kissing Mina was something you had always dreamed about, but somehow this wasn’t how you wanted it to be. It was overwhelming because you wanted nothing more than to give in to your desire, kiss her, and enjoy every single second of it. You wanted to hold her close and never let her go, but you knew this was something impulsive. Mina was confused, and at the end of the day, she would go back to her boyfriend.
Sitting there on the cold floor, you buried your face in your hands, trying to calm your racing heart. The weight of the situation bore down on you, and the reality of your feelings hit you harder than ever before.
After a few moments, you managed to pull yourself together and stood up, taking a deep breath. You knew you had to stay focused and professional, even if it felt like your heart was breaking.
As you walked back to your office, your mind was a whirlwind of emotions. The memory of her lips on yours was vivid, but you pushed it aside, knowing that dwelling on it would only make things worse. You had a job to do, and you needed to be strong.
Over the next few days, she kept her distance from you. You coordinated schedules, managed logistics, and ensured everything ran smoothly for Twice’s upcoming projects. The busyness helped to distract you, but it couldn't erase the ache in your chest.
During one of your breaks, you found yourself sitting with Jihyo in the practice room. She noticed the tired look in your eyes and gave you a concerned glance. “You okay? You seem a bit off lately.”
You forced a smile, not wanting to burden her with your troubles. “Just a lot on my mind, that’s all.”
Jihyo raised an eyebrow. “Does this have anything to do with Mina?”
Her perceptiveness caught you off guard, and you sighed, unable to hide the truth from her. “Yeah, we had a bit of a... moment the other day. It’s complicated.”
Jihyo frowned, leaning closer. “What happened?”
You hesitated but then decided to share. “She kissed me. It was impulsive, and I know she’s confused. I had to push her away because she was with Hyunjin. But it’s been eating me up inside.”
Jihyo’s expression softened with understanding. “That’s tough. But you did the right thing. She needs to figure out her feelings, and you can’t let yourself get caught up in that mess.”
“I know,” you said, your voice heavy with resignation. “But it doesn’t make it any easier.”
Jihyo reached out and squeezed your hand. “Hang in there. Focus on the positive things, like our golf sessions. You’ve been improving a lot, you know.”
You chuckled and she hugged you, appreciating her attempt to lighten the mood. “Thanks, Jihyo. It means a lot to me to know that I have
Jihyo smiled warmly. “And remember, you’re not alone. We’re all here for you. Don’t be afraid to lean on us when you need to.”
You didn’t let go of Jihyo for a few minutes because it felt calming, but that wasn’t the best idea. Mina walked into the room and saw it, her face contorting with fury. Not caring about anything else, Mina stormed towards you, grabbing your hand and pulling you toward the door. Her grip was tight, her nails digging into your skin.
“Mina, stop! Where are you taking him?” Jihyo screamed, panic in her voice.
“Jihyo, stay out of this!” Mina screamed back, her voice echoing through the room. It was rare to hear Mina that loud, and Jihyo, shocked, decided to let you both figure it out yourselves.
Mina dragged you into an empty room down the hall, slamming the door shut behind her. She let go of your hand, and you rubbed the red marks left by her nails. "Mina, what the hell? What's going on?" you demanded, trying to keep your anger in check.
"What's going on?" Mina shot back, her eyes blazing. "You tell me! I walk in, and I see you all cozy with Jihyo. What am I supposed to think?"
"Mina, Jihyo was just trying to comfort me," you said, trying to keep your voice calm. "We're friends. That's all."
"Friends? You think I don't see what's going on?" she yelled, her voice breaking. "You’ve been avoiding me, spending all your time with Jihyo. Do you know how that makes me feel?"
"How it makes you feel?" you echoed incredulously. "Mina, you're the one who kissed me and then went back to Hyunjin like nothing happened! How do you think I feel?"
She flinched at your words, tears welling up in her eyes. "I... I don't know. I was confused. I still am. But seeing you with her... it hurts."
You took a deep breath, trying to find the right words. "Mina, I’ve been trying to deal with my feelings. It’s hard seeing you with Hyunjin, knowing I can't be with you the way I want to be. But that doesn’t mean I don’t care about you."
She stepped closer, her voice trembling. "I miss you. I miss us. I don't know what to do with these feelings, but I can’t stand seeing you with someone else."
You felt a pang of guilt and longing, but you knew you had to stay strong. "Mina, you need to figure out what you want. You can’t keep doing this to yourself, to Hyunjin, or me. It's not fair to any of us."
She looked down, her shoulders shaking with silent sobs. "I know. I’m sorry. I’m so sorry."
You reached out, gently lifting her chin so she could meet your gaze. "It’s okay to be confused, Mina. But you need to be honest with yourself and with Hyunjin. Only then can we figure out what comes next."
She nodded, tears streaming down her cheeks. "I will. I promise."
It was an improvement because there was some hope for you and Mina, as she was feeling something similar to what you were! But it was still confusing, and you needed time to think, especially after all that had just happened. You called in sick and left the set immediately, deciding to grab a drink to cool down a little.
You found a quiet bar a few blocks away and took a seat in a dimly lit corner. The bartender approached, and you ordered a drink, hoping it would help settle your racing thoughts. As you took your first sip, the events of the past few weeks replayed in your mind. The kiss, Mina’s outburst, the tension, and the hope of something more—it was all too much to process.
The bar was relatively empty, the low hum of conversations and soft music providing a comforting backdrop. You nursed your drink, trying to make sense of your feelings. Mina's confession had given you hope, but her confusion and the reality of her relationship with Hyunjin kept you grounded.
After a couple of drinks, you went home and eventually crashed.
It was the weekend, and you had no plans whatsoever. Planning to drown yourself in alcohol and play games the entire day, you settled into a routine of indulgence and distraction. Eventually, you fell asleep again in front of the TV, watching some stupid videos. You were woken up by a sudden knock on the door. Groggily walking to the door, disheveled, you opened it to find none other than the one woman in this entire world you were trying to avoid.
“Mina.”
She stood there, looking almost as disheveled as you felt, her eyes wide and filled with a mixture of determination and hesitation. "Hey," she said softly, biting her lower lip.
"Hey," you replied, unable to hide your surprise and confusion. "What are you doing here?"
"I needed to see you," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "Can I come in?"
You hesitated for a moment, but then stepped aside, letting her enter. The room was a mess, a testament to your recent attempts at distraction, and Mina took it all in with a concerned glance.
"I didn’t know where else to go," she admitted, standing awkwardly in the middle of the room. "I’ve been thinking a lot about what we talked about. About us."
You ran a hand through your hair, trying to shake off the remnants of sleep and the fog of alcohol. "Mina, I don’t know if this is the best time..."
"I know," she interrupted, her eyes pleading. "But I can't keep avoiding this. Avoiding you. We need to talk."
You sighed, gesturing for her to sit down. "Okay, let’s talk."
Just as you were about to turn around to get her some water, she grabbed you and pulled you into a kiss and yet again you pushed her away.
“MINA!” You screamed.
"I ended things with Hyunjin," she began, her voice steady but her eyes filled with emotion. "It wasn’t fair to him, and it wasn’t fair to you. I needed to be honest with myself and with you."
Your heart raced at her words, a mix of hope and fear swirling inside you. "Mina, that’s a big step. But where does that leave us?"
"I don’t know," she admitted, her voice trembling. "All I know is that I miss you. I miss us. And I can’t stand the thought of losing you."
You looked into her eyes, seeing the sincerity and vulnerability there. "I miss you too, Mina. But this is complicated. We can’t just pretend everything’s okay."
“Fuck complicated! I need you right now. Those kisses are so intoxicating, it's like a drug, and I can’t live without it,” Mina said, already frustrated. You could see she was trying to hold back as much as you were.
You could no longer hold back either and finally gave in, pulling Mina into you and kissing her. The kiss was so passionate, tongues dancing. Her hands freely explored your body while yours did the same, tracing every curve and line, memorizing the feeling of her against you.
"Mina," you murmured against her lips, the word a mix of desire and need.
She responded by pressing closer, deepening the kiss, her fingers tangling in your hair. The world outside seemed to fade away, leaving just the two of you, lost in the intensity of the moment. You could feel her heartbeat, rapid and strong, matching your own.
As your hands roamed, exploring every inch of each other, you felt a surge of emotions. Desire, yes, but also love and longing, things you had tried to suppress for so long. You broke the kiss, both of you panting, eyes locked.
"Mina, are you sure?" you asked, needing to know she wanted this as much as you did, despite the complications.
"Yes," she whispered, her voice breathless but certain. "I've never been more sure of anything."
You pulled her back into another kiss, this one slower, more deliberate, savoring each second. The tension between you, built up over months, finally found release in the shared intimacy. It was like nothing else mattered but the two of you, here and now.
You carried her to the couch, your movements urgent but careful, laying her down gently. She looked up at you, her eyes dark with desire and trust. "I've wanted this for so long," she confessed, her voice soft.
"Me too," you admitted, leaning down to kiss her again, your hands exploring the soft skin beneath her shirt, skin as smooth as silk. She fit so perfectly in your hand.
Your hands sneak underneath her bra, playing with her boobs, her nipples hard as a rock causing her to moan. The bra was a disturbance so you unclasp it and take it off Mina.
“Mina you are so fucking perfect. You don’t know just how happy I am right now,” you say. Not able to contain your excitement, you bite Mina’s neck you knew it would leave a mark but you didn’t care because right now she belonged to you and no one else.
“Ngh! Y/N slow down, it’s going to leave a mark,” Mina says as she tries to push you away.
Pulling away from Mina you look into her eyes and say “That’s what I want. I want everyone to know that you belong to me now.”
Mina’s face turned red, “hey! Don’t say that,” Mina said as she buried her face in her hands.
“Alright, I will do it somewhere no one can see then,” you say before you begin nibbling just above Mina’s right breast. Mina’s breasts must have been a sensitive spot for her because as you nibbled on her breast, you could hear her moan and her grip on your head tighten.
To ensure that Mina’s other breast is equally attended, use your hand to play with the nipple. After giving her boobs the appreciation they deserved, you began to place kisses all over her body, memorizing every inch of her perfect body. She had a few moles on her body and you placed kisses on them multiple times before moving on. Mina’s moans echoed through the room as you worshipped her body. Once you reached her pants you looked up at Mina, asking for permission and she nodded, but before you took off her pants you said, “If we are going to do this then I would rather have my first time with you on a  proper bed.”
Grabbing Mina’s hand you pull her with you to the room, once you are inside, you kneel in front of her. Pulling her pants down along with her panties, placing kisses on her thighs near her but not touching it.
The pants now discarded, Mina stood in your room naked, a scene that you never thought would become reality. Taking one of Mina’s legs you place it on your shoulder, her wet pussy on full display for you.
“D-don’t stare,” Mina says, shy from how vulnerable she is.
“Artwork such as this needs to be admired, baby,” you say, not noticing the endearment you had just used. Not wanting to keep her waiting, you dive into her pussy, licking it. Her pussy was delicious, something that you would never get tired of eating.
Mina grabbed your hair, trying to keep her balance and not fall. Her moans get louder every second. The pleasure slowly took over her brain, her pussy throbbed around your fingers every time you flicked her clit.
“CUMMINGG!” Mina screamed before squirting all over your face. Her balance was completely lost, she was leaning completely on your body and was able to stand with some help from the bed frame.
But that balance soon gave in and she ended up falling onto the bed, recovering from her orgasm, still panting and shaking. You joined her on the bed, lying down next to her, waiting for her to come back to reality.
“Fuck, This is the first time, I came that hard,” Mina says, after coming down from the high.
“My turn now,” Mina says before getting up to undo your pants and get rid of them. She slowly pulls down your underwear and your dick pops out and hits Mina in the face.
“Someone’s eager,” Mina says, grabbing your cock she starts to stroke it, slowly using her spit as the lube. After stroking it for a few seconds, she took your cock in her mouth. It was warm and just as perfect as you imagined it would be.
Mina began bobbing her head, trying her best to take more of your cock, she was struggling to take your entire length but you didn’t mind because the way she looked at you made you go feral, her look was that of someone wanting praise.
“Fuck! Mina, I want to fuck your mouth so badly,” you said, doing your best to hold back and not scare her away.
Mina pulls your cock out of her mouth, panting and coughing from how much she was pushing herself. “Do it the, fuck my face please, I want to make you cum the same way that you did to me,” Mina said, looking up at you with those captivating eyes, begging to be used for your pleasure and who were you to say no.
She slowly puts your cock back into her mouth and begins bobbing and pushing herself as deep as she could. Grabbing the back of her head, you push her head further into your body until her nose touches your pelvis bone, Mina gagged a little but she didn’t resist.
You pulled it out a little before you started pounding her face, “Fuck, I’m going to cum!” you groaned before pushing Mina’s head down your dick and releasing all your cum down her throat.
After you stopped cumming, Mina swallowed up all your cum, without any complaints at all.
You watched as Mina walked to the washroom, to clean up a little, her as swaying from one side to the other. With every step her ass cheeks bouncing. This turned you on a lot more than you thought it would.
As soon as Mina came back you pushed her onto the bed and got on top of her, pinning both her hands above her head.
“How are you so fucking gorgeous? It's driving me crazy,” You say to Mina, looking deep into her eyes. They soften at your compliment, it wasn’t just out of lust but out of pure admiration for her and she knew it.
“I could ask you the same thing, how is it possible that you don’t have women dying for you because I would do anything to be with you,” Mina says.
Closing the distance, her breath touching your skin, “Then prove it to me!”
Mina closes the distance between you, lips touching and moving in harmony. “Enough, please fuck me, I have wanted this for so long, I can’t wait anymore,” Mina says, you can hear how desperate she is.
“Nor can I baby,” you say before positioning your cock at Mina’s entrance, slapping and teasing it. Her wet pussy juice sticking to your cock.
“Stop teasing and put it in,” Mina whined and you obliged, slowly pushing your tip into her, god was she tight, she was gripping onto your tip so hard. You continue to push into her slowly but stop all when you hear Mina scream.
You start to pull out a little because you don’t want to hurt Mina, “No!! Keep going please, just slowly,” Mina says as she grips your arms.
“Baby, you need to relax, you are too tense and that's why it’s hurting you,” You say to Mina before leaning in to kiss her.
Mina’s focused on the kiss, tongue in your mouth, taking this opportunity, you push into her again slowly
“HGNH” Mina groaned again but she relaxed, focusing more on the kiss.
Once you were in her completely you stayed still allowing her to adjust and not wanting to hurt her. After a minute or so Mina pulls away from the kiss and says,” You can move now,”
You begin to move slowly in the beginning. You tried different angles to find Mina’s most sensitive spot. Moans filled the room, louder every time you hit a certain spot. Pleasure building up Mina wanted more,
“Harder, you can go harder,” Mina managed to say in between her moans. Obliging with her commands your thrusts get harder. It was truly a sight to take in, Mina’s tits bouncing out of control, her moans loud enough to be heard by your neighbors, and the most erotic expression on her face.
“Ahh fuck! Keep going! Oh my fucking god,” All sorts of obscenities were coming out of Mina’s mouth, her elegant image was being destroyed and you were the reason for it.
You couldn’t hold on much longer but you didn’t want it to end. Without pulling out, you picked Mina up, holding her in your arms as you continued to pound her. Your dick now hitting much deeper.
“Oh fuck! Keep going, I need you so badly!” Mina moaned as her hands gripped onto your back, nails digging in, and her legs on your hands as you thrust into her.
After thrusting into Mina’s tight pussy for many minutes, “CUMMING!” Mina screams as she squirts all over your cock. Your dick slips out of her and is now coated with her liquid.
Soon recovering from her orgasm still in your arms she whispers something that you didn’t expect to hear. “Let me ride you,”
It was a shocking suggestion but one that you welcomed. You set her down on the bed and join her on the bed, She is now sitting on you, her legs on each side of your body. Her pussy lips are right above your cock.
Not wasting much time, Mina pushes your cock into her, it wasn’t that hard as now she was a little more relaxed once it was fully in she began bouncing on it like no tomorrow. She was amazing, it was like nothing you had ever felt, the way she moved was immaculate.
Mina leans down to kiss you as she continues to ride your cock. Given how much her pussy was throbbing it wouldn’t be much longer before she was cumming all over your cock again.
You grab a hold of her ass and push her down harsher, it takes her by surprise causing her to yelp. You were thrusting into Mina’s G-spot causing her to scream in pleasure. The room was filled with nothing but the sound of skin slapping and the profanities that came out of Mina’s mouth.
“Fuck, I’m cumming, I’m cumming,” Mina warned this time before she orgasmed all over your cock again but this time you didn’t stop.
“F-fuck.. I can’t- ‘s too much,” Mina cried, tears staining her pretty cheeks as you continued to thrust into her even though she just came
“Fuck, fuck, fuck,” Mina cried, a clear stream of liquid gushing out from her pussy
“There we go, that’s a good fucking girl,” you praised, thrusts getting sloppier as you approached your second orgasm. “God baby, you’re gripping me so hard. Gonna cum in that tight little pussy okay?”
Mina’s head was so empty, nodding absentmindedly as her eyes threatened to close shut. “Fuck” you groaned loudly, bottoming out inside her and allowing your seed to fill you up. Some of it dripped down your thigh as he pulled out.
Mina was panting hard in an attempt to catch your breath, the body still spasming as you let her fall limp against your chest. “you’re a meanie,” Mina pouted tiredly, feeling your pussy flutter at the newfound emptiness.
“I know I am baby, but you did so good, took it so well” you chuckled, gripping the flesh of her ass as you kissed softly down the delicate skin on her neck.
After both of you came down from the high of your orgasms, you finally realized what just happened and how big this was.
“Mina, this means that we are dating, right? Because I don’t think I could ever face you as anything but your boyfriend after what we just did,” you said, your voice trembling slightly with the weight of your words.
Mina looked up at you, her eyes softening as she took in the seriousness of your expression. She reached out, cupping your face in her hands, and smiled. "Yes, it does. I want us to be together. I’ve wanted it for a long time."
Relief and joy flooded through you, and you leaned down to kiss her again, this time with a sense of certainty and commitment. The kiss was tender, full of promises for the future.
The next morning, you woke up with Mina in your arms, her presence a comforting warmth against your side. The sunlight filtered through the curtains, casting a soft glow over the room. Mina stirred, blinking sleepily as she looked up at you.
"Good morning," she whispered, her voice still husky with sleep.
"Good morning," you replied, brushing a strand of hair from her face. "How are you feeling?"
"Happy," she said simply, snuggling closer. "And a little scared, but mostly happy."
You nodded, understanding the mix of emotions. "Me too. But we’ll figure it out, together."
She smiled, her fingers tracing patterns on your chest. "Yes, together."
The weeks that followed were a whirlwind of adjustments. You had to navigate your new relationship while maintaining professionalism at work. There were moments of awkwardness, but also moments of pure bliss as you both found your rhythm.
You and Mina kept your relationship private, sharing it only with those closest to you. Jihyo was ecstatic when she found out, giving you both a knowing smile and a heartfelt hug. The other members were equally supportive, happy to see Mina truly happy.
One evening, after a particularly long day, you and Mina found yourselves on the company rooftop, a favorite spot for a quiet escape. The city lights twinkled below, and the cool breeze provided a perfect backdrop for a heart-to-heart conversation.
"Can you believe how far we’ve come?" Mina mused, leaning against you.
"It feels surreal," you admitted, wrapping an arm around her. "But I wouldn’t change a thing."
She turned to face you, her expression serious. "I know this won’t always be easy. There will be challenges, both personal and professional. But I want to face them with you."
"We will," you assured her, kissing her forehead. "One step at a time."
As the night grew darker, you both sat there, comfortable in the silence and each other's company, knowing that no matter what came next, you were in it together.

Tumblr media
After baby leaves the berzatto household carmy literally has zero clue what to do with himself, like man is just staring at his bedroom door 30 minutes later trying to figure out if what just happened was real or just his imagination.
He definitely brushes his fingers across his lips a couple of times, tingles racing through his body every time he thinks about your lips on his.
Carmy goes to sleep happy that night his mind full of visions of you as he finally lays his head to rest.
Sunday rolls around and he’s feeling a bit anxious that neither of you have seen or spoken to each other since that night.
Carmy is freaking out like it genuinely hasn’t even been a full 24 hrs since the moment the two of you shared and he’s sure he scared you off. Maybe you just kissed him back because you felt sorry for him man is running through all the worst scenarios in his head.
He’s definitely picked up the phone to call you and typed out messages but was too scared to do either one in fear of rejection or worse in fear of ruining your already rocky friendship.
At some point, he just relegates himself to finishing some English final essay to keep his mind off of you (it obviously doesn’t work).
It’s getting later as the day passes by and Carmy’s just staring at the few words in the notebook and the eraser marks decorating the page.
The sound of his phone vibrating against the table pulls him from his thoughts and that boy is racing from his seat to answer it, no hesitation no checking the caller ID nothing.
He answers breathlessly and calls your name with a smile on his face because who else would be calling him?
The devastation radiates off of him as Claire’s voice rings into his ears. He gives her an uninterested “Oh, hi.” Mans is not happy at all but he was raised right so he indulges her.
Carmy zones out as soon as he realizes it’s not you, moving through the living room to peek through the curtains at your house, your car is still in the driveway so you must be home, maybe he can go see you after this phone call.
Claire’s voice drifts through his ears asking where he’s at and homeboy is confused most of his focus going to how he’s gonna get his girl who isn’t yet his girl.
And then he remembers before his moment with you, before he knew what it felt like to feel the soft caress of your lips, the weight of your body in his lap. Claire asked him to lunch and he said yes!
He stumbles over his words, he can easily tell Claire that he’s not interested, that there’s someone else. But only an asshole would do something like that over the phone. So with one last look at your car, he decides he’ll meet up with Claire, let her down easy, and then you and him can figure out what this is between the two of you.
Carmy uses the back entrance not wanting to engage with any of the many people crowded in line at the front of the shop, easily finding Claire alone at a table a sigh of relief escaping him that she hadn’t chosen yours and his special table.
It’s awkward for the first few minutes after he sits down. He promised himself he’d start by admitting to Claire that he thought she was nice and pretty even, but that he realized he was in love with someone else.
Claire breaks the ice before he can even get his little speech out, maybe he’ll wait till the end of this little hangout maybe that would save the awkwardness of having to eat with someone you admitted you didn’t have feelings for.
Somehow the two of them go from awkward conversation to joking around about the previous night at prom.
Carmy’s back is to the entrance so he doesn’t take notice of your presence but he watches as Claire’s eyes drift from his face her eyes lighting up hand waving with gusto as she says your name.
Carmy doesn’t even need to turn around to see you, a heavy weight growing at the bottom of his stomach, but he does anyway and the way you avoid his eyes is enough proof that this whole situation upset you.
He doesn’t even give Claire a second thought before he’s out of his seat trying to find you, the muffled cries leaving the walk-in lead him straight to you, and he can’t help the annoyance that builds up in him at hearing Mikey’s voice.
His older brother, always there to save the fucking day. He stays a bit longer just listening to you sob and he knows he was the cause of your anguish.
Carm returns to Claire and apologizes for leaving and he doesn’t explain anything but he can see the sadness in her eyes as a silent conversation passes between the two of them her eyes watering with her hurt and realization.
Claire was kind enough to offer him a ride home, but Carmy decided to walk home, he didn’t know how he could live with the weight of making two girls cry in one day.
On the tedious walk home, Carmy comes to the decision that it’s best if he just lets you believe what you want. You’ll be gone soon and there’s no point in clearing anything up, no point in putting his feelings about you into words if the two of you will be apart soon.
So he self-sabotages allows you to think he’s the bad guy (i mean he kinda is lol) doesn’t clear up what you think you saw, and doesn’t address the kiss and intimate moment he initiated.
And as the days tick down to your departure he watches you grow closer to Hayden, ignoring Claire’s questioning looks as she tries to understand why you and Carmy aren’t together yet.
The time comes for your departure and he’s built up some false confidence about telling you the truth about everything but he chokes. Wishes you luck in college and mutters promises about keeping in touch, promises he knows are a lie as soon as he speaks them because he doesn’t think he could pretend to be happy for you knowing his own happiness lies with you.

a/n: gosh do i love making these two suffer, there’s some tidbits in here that i might expand on in a carmy interlude i have planned but only time will tell. enjoy!

AITA for staying friends with someone when I don’t like them much?
Just to clarify before the rest of this ask, I have never voiced anything I’m about to say to them, or to anyone for that matter. I don’t treat them any differently to any of my other friends when I’m with them, and the only time I’ve ever talked about them negatively behind their back was when my best mate brought it up and we were only discussing how they acted in one particular situation, not making judgements on their character.
Anyway, I (15M) have been friends with someone who we’ll call Ash (16NB) for a couple of years now. Last year, I never really considered myself that close to them, and although I was vaguely aware I wasn’t that big on them, it was never really a thing because they weren’t a close friend of mine, so I just treated them like any of my friends. However, in the past 5 or so months they’ve gotten a lot closer to me, referring to me as their best friend. As a result, I’ve ended up spending more time with them. Now, don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate them. There are plenty of things about them that I like- they often talk about their story world that they’ve made up, and I really like hearing about it, plus I generally have a good time when I’m hanging out with them outside of school. There’s not anything wrong with them, beyond being kind of overdramatic and calling every bad thing that happens to them trauma regardless of how minor it is. With anyone else, I wouldn’t care about this. Most of my friends have many more, much worse flaws that I ignore because I like them as people. Problem is, I don’t really like Ash as a person. This is kind of out of character for me- usually if I don’t like someone it’s because they’ve wronged me or one of my friends- but for no clear reason I just don’t click with them. I never feel like I can be completely honest with them, they never really make me laugh and we often miscommunicate in a way I don’t with any of my other friends- I tend to be pretty blunt (autism) especially in text messages, and as a result they interpret what I mean either as an honest note or as a joke as a snide comment, e.g. they made a typo that made their message hard to understand, and I pointed that out because I wanted to get what they were saying, but they took it as a personal attack. Probably our worst misunderstanding was when they asked me out, and I tried to respond by saying that I thought they were hot (they are hot) but I didn’t want us going out to ruin our friendship, which they ended up interpreting as me accepting them and now they think we’re going out I think? I’m not sure. Anyway, what was once just not taking a huge liking to them has boiled into full on resentment because of how much they like me, which makes me feel bad that I don’t like them back, and that I can’t acknowledge how I feel about them to anyone because I’m not an asshole. I know this ask makes me sound like a proper shithead, but rest assured I treat them nicely and they’re quite insecure so I’m certain they’d tell me if they thought I didn’t like them. I just don’t know what to do. I can’t get myself to like them, and if I was honest with them it’d probably make them utterly devastated, but if my best friend didn’t like me I would much prefer to know and if I continue like this I fear I’ll end up blaming Ash for my dislike of them more and more and might end up lashing out at them without meaning to. I really don’t know what to do.
TLDR, am I the asshole for lying to them and letting it get this far, and should I be honest with them, or should I keep on like this and hope the friendship dies naturally?
What are these acronyms?

Here are my thoughts and interpretations on Carol and Daryl’s final scene from the The Walking Dead flagship show. Warning - long post ahead:
Firstly, we see Daryl and Carol looking out over a lake together. Carol says she believes it’s a beautiful day to head out but as Daryl responds with “yeah…”, it’s Carol’s direction he’s looking in rather than out at the lake at this moment. This is to signify a moment where he’s admiring her beauty, taking in every aspect of her that he can and committing it to memory, because he knows he’s leaving soon and he doesn’t know when he’ll be able to return. Daryl tells Carol he wishes she was coming with him and interestingly, instead of responding with “me too” or similar, like you would expect her to, Carol responds with “I know - but this is gonna be good for you, for me.” A lot of fans were understandably confused by her response here as Carol and Daryl are two characters who struggle so much when they are separated from each other. The only explanation I can think of - and I’ve had this theory for quite a while now - is that something happened between Carol and Daryl in that finale 1 year time jump of the flagship show to make Carol say this. I don’t say this to necessarily mean that something happened between them romantically during the time jump. Personally, I feel like it would be a disservice to fans if they’d make them canon off screen. However, I do believe that something could’ve happen during that year long time jump that could, potentially, be addressed in the upcoming The Book Of Carol. Both Carol and Daryl are very emotional in this scene but especially Carol and in an aid to comfort her, like he’s always there to do, Daryl reassures her that this won’t be the last time they see each other. In a gentle manner, Carol reminds Daryl that she’s allowed to be sad because she’s about to lose him, her best friend, her soulmate, her everything. A lot of fans dislike Caryl calling each other best friends because some people make the argument that this means that’s all they’ll ever be. A lot of the antis say that it would ruin Carol and Daryl’s friendship if they got together romantically. However, I personally feel like this would be the opposite. Being best friends, in my opinion, is a great foundation for a relationship and in my eyes, it would only make their bond stronger if they got together romantically.
Daryl and Carol go to greet Judith and RJ so that Daryl can say goodbye to them. During his conversation with Judith, Daryl asks her to keep an eye on Carol. This shows Daryl’s awareness that Carol is going to struggle without him, she’s going to be upset and without him there to be her rock, she might end up going down the deep end again, which is probably his worst fear. However, he knows how dearly loved the children are by Carol and he knows how much of a huge comfort they’ll be to her after he’s gone which is why he ensures he asks Judith to look after her. At the end of their conversation, Judith reminds Daryl that he deserves a happy ending too. Beady-eyed fans will have noticed that Judith glanced in Carol’s direction just before she said this line. This shows that Judith knows how important Daryl and Carol are to each other and what they mean to each other. She knows that Carol is where his true love and happiness lies and she wants him to be able to have that after putting other people first, like herself, for so long.
Ezekiel then takes the children away so that Daryl and Carol can have their final moments together before Daryl leaves alone. This is only a tiny detail but it’s one I absolutely love because it’s such a sweet gesture and show’s Ezekiel’s respect towards Carol and Daryl, despite everything that went on between them in previous seasons and how Ezekiel had been jealous of Daryl previously. It show’s Ezekiel’s growth and maturity and is a showing of his acceptance towards Daryl and Carol and what they mean to each other. This is one small detail that makes me believe that Ezekiel would give his blessing to Daryl and Carol if a romantic relationship between them does occur.
Daryl takes his poncho and begins to put it on. In her ever-protective manner towards him, Carol steps forward and begins to adjust it on his shoulders, making sure it’s perfect. This is a callback to fans about how Daryl and Carol are always looking after each other, even in the smallest ways. These brief few seconds also allow Daryl the time he needs to finally build up the courage to tell Carol something he’s been wanting to tell her for years and years, something that he needs her to know before he leaves - the big 3 words - “I love you”. A lot of fans have debated about whether Daryl said this in a platonic or romantic way. However, if there is any doubt in your mind at all that it was said in a romantic way, I beg that you go back through the Walking Dead flagship show and re-watch all those beautiful moments where this man has shown his love for this woman through his actions. All of those have led up to this moment now. Furthermore, the emotion and tone Daryl uses as he says it and how he looks directly into Carol’s eyes with so much love and confidence when saying it is so beautiful and powerful. Moreover, Carol is the only character that Daryl has said those 3 words too in the entirety of TWDU which in my opinion, says a lot. However, the biggest piece of evidence about Daryl saying “I love you” in a romantic way comes from The Walking Dead writer, LaToya Morgan, who Tweeted about this scene from the flagship show: Daryl didn’t need to say “I love you” to Carol because she already knows that Daryl loves her but with Daryl leaving and him not knowing when he would ever be able to come back, it was of upmost importance to him that Carol knew and that it was made abundantly clear to her just how much he meant it.
There’s a tense few moments where Daryl and us, as the audience, await Carol’s reaction. She chuckled and responded with “I love you too”. Immediately, it’s important to note here, that bar Lizzie, who was one of Carol’s children, Carol had also never said “I love you” to any other character in TWDU. This includes Ezekiel who, even when he made his feelings abundantly clear to Carol with the those 3 words, she never returned them to him explicitly. A lot of fans were confused about Carol’s tone in her response to Daryl and some disliked it and were concerned it meant that Carol didn’t mean the sentiment in the same way that Daryl did. This is absolutely not the case. Melissa McBride’s description of Carol’s feelings in this scene explain it perfectly. Carol is trying to interpret if Daryl is being serious or not with his “I love you”. It’s no secret that one of the reasons that Daryl and Carol have struggled to admit their feelings to each other prior to this point is because they feel like they’re not worthy of one another. They both suffer from self-esteem issues that have stemmed from the abuse and trauma that they experienced in their lives pre-apocalypse. However, as previously mentioned, as Daryl is about to leave for an uncertain amount of time, this gives Daryl and Carol that extra push to put their cards out on the table, be honest about their feelings and say what they want to say to each other whilst they still have chance. This is why, despite struggling to interpret how Daryl means the 3 words, Carol says it back but she says it back in a way that’s playful, for the road ahead along with a great deal of meaningfulness behind it so that there’s nothing left unsaid and so that Daryl has something to hold onto whilst he’s out there.
For The Book Of Carol, I have hopes that our favourite duo will utter those 3 words to each other again. My hopes for canon are currently higher than ever and there is so much for us to look forward to, dear Carylers.
Caryl on!
I really hope you enjoyed the post. If anybody has any more recommendations or requests for scene analyses or topics about the show you’d like me to discuss, please comment them or message me.

Drowning in grey
The worst thing is when the desperation hits. That icky, clingy, sticky desperation where you feel like you’re somebody drowning and you’re ready to push someone under just to get up. The type where you feel that, wait, I don’t feel like me anymore. It’s funny, because I’d finally reached a point where I stopped being willing to put up with being a doormat and being the one who always had to first reassure the other person and put them in a safe mind space before I could safely tell them how something they did or said hurt me. Once you do that for a long time.. well, I dunno, some people may put up with it for life, but I finally reached my boiling point. Either, I confront, head on, or it’s done. That or in another case, door slam. And phew, do I rarely doorslam. But it’s been changing for me. Getting to that age where you feel you do deserve more and where the other person should give you as much leeway as you give them. I hate conflict. Fricking loathe it. I want peace and harmony more than anything, both because I just want everyone to get along, but also because, well, trauma. The fear I derive from conflict is out of this world. I feel like I’m being annihilated. It shouldn’t be that way, not after all these years, but it is. They’re the hardest scars to heal. And finally, I got to the point where I drew a line. Several, even. And lo and behold, the other person would never put up with you drawing a boundary as you would put up with them crossing it again and again... and again. So yay, I evolved. I can draw boundaries. What’s the alternative? Cognitive darkness. Isolation. There are so few people in the world I ever connect with that I was willing to put up for over a decade of broken promises and making me feel like being their friend was a burden on them. And there’s always one re-emerging pattern I’ve noticed. Try to connect with “normal” positive people? Ha, lol. I’m a walking red flag to them. Or something. My insecurity wrecks everything from the get-go. I overanalyze what I should say, “act more casual, gerddermit!” and I fricking can’t. I can’t stop self-surveying which results in self-sabotage. And I think, well, maybe they’re an asshole anyway if they judge me so harshly for being insecure... because I don’t act mean. In fact, I find that many “normal” confident people can act quite mean and everyone else is all in awe and admiration of them. Trying to be nice? “Plz don’t bonk me” vibes ruin me every time. And I cannot for the love of me turn them off. And those who don’t mind them...? Turn out to have overwhelming narcy traits, of course. They see the insecurity and think, oh. Either I can use this person for my convenience or give ‘em a good kick once in a while when I need a boost, and they’ll still be around, begging for another kick in the future. So, if that’s the option... if being broken means you can only attract other broken people.. and not even people like yourself who don’t want conflict, who just want solid, honest, open family-like friendships, then... does it mean you DO put up with it? Do you accept that the other person’s brokenness means you’ll always be the victim of it? Or do you accept isolation. I’m sure that’s a false dichotomy, it just so hasn’t been disproven in my case. I’m heart-broken. Everyone I care about and invest in most often turn out to be narcissistic to some degree if not full-blown. I’m tired, man. I’m tired of trying and starting over. But there’s no other option.. to keep trying, even when the panic becomes so overwhelming that I feel that I must repel everyone in my vicinity. But that need to be seen.. and understood. For someone to get exactly what you mean, your quirks, your hints, your personality, someone who knows what you meant when you said a silly joke, or said a weird made-up word, and so on. Without thinking, wow, what a weirdo/freak, lol, what a loser, as most seem to do, hence why masking is a fave.. Someone who knows what encapsulates you and who knows to give you the benefit of the doubt because they know you’d never say or do A, B, or C. Just someone you could chill with, be at ease with. Share your thoughts or just useless random drivel. I just wanna feel safe, sigh. I would just like to receive what I give. It seems that everyone else just.. has a multitude of friends and.. I can’t even have one. Not really. Or I have a friend and that nagging feeling that, well, this won’t last long. I just so often wish I could give up whoever it is that I am.. just so I could be like everyone else, put my head in the sand and apparently live some happy-go-lucky life where nothing ever scratches you deeply. Instead, I’m a wandering satellite dish for all emotions and suffering around me, being drowned in an emotional information overload. Tired. I really struggle putting my thoughts into words. It’s like all scrambled up there. But.. gotta keep trying. Zz.

last year i needed pills to function. don’t remember exactly why. psychiatrist said,”it’s all in your head”. he preached about some God in the sky and i thought that was ridiculous. i thought, what a fucking cunt. but now i think that was the only thing he said that made sense.
i think self-destruction when it’s the only form of control you have over anything at all, it’s tempting. ruin yourself before anyone else can, right? fuck it up so much to forget the other one. i was going through my notes app and saw something i wrote from 2021 and it said “there will be a bigger pain than this one. it’ll be insignificant in a few years.” two years ago i looked at it and go hell yeah. but that’s just bullshit. sometimes i wonder if it’s ever too late but a voice whispers to me, “never. as long as you’re alive- never.”
being a teenager is so fucking funny because you victimise yourself so much. to overthink yourself to shit and hate yourself to shit to wear black and act like a grown up and to be a stupid nihilist to question everything and yet know nothing at all. i do believe you manifest what you think of yourself and your life. make a big deal out of something and it becomes a big deal. shut the fuck up and chill and nothing is as serious as it seems. just breathe, don’t let it take all of you, take it in instead. love is all around. love is inside you. i have empathy for you but this mess can’t exist forever. you know when you’ve gotten so comfortable being miserable that being happy scares the shit out of you? you wonder, when will the next downfall hit me? and for how long? until when? cowardice. absolute cowardice. i think understanding the concept of life comes with having to accept that bad and good go hand in hand, it spikes up and then down and then horrendously down and then up again. never constant. change change change. get used to it sucker. you care too much about the wrong things. focus.
i’ll be 20 next month and i can assure you i’ve learnt a lot and so less at the same time. but everyday it’s getting better. the inevitable “until when?” pops up every once in a while to scare the living crap out of me and i tell myself “until whenever, but i’ll be fine.” don’t get me wrong, i’m far from stable, i still have a lot to learn AND unlearn. the process is sometimes fun and sometimes painful and sometimes long because i live in denial for a while. a lot of it is having to let go of old baggage and as someone who can’t even throw away old useless receipts, it’s still something i struggle with. be it failed friendship or something i haven’t forgiven myself with.
but i like my life now. to say that is a lot coming from me. life is good, you know? to mean it, without pretending to enjoy something just to put on a facade. but hey i was funny as fuck when i was depressed because i was unhinged. i fear i might lose my funny privileges lol. gogo’s still stuck on that wheel, its been years and its been harsh. she talks about it like it’s something that comes with her. i dont know what to tell her because i don’t have the answer. everything is an experiment towards what you want to achieve, i think. and like an experiment- you really can’t tell how it’ll go. but with the right circumstances it works out for you. i hope she’ll be around by the time we’re old ladies whose only desire is to bask in the sun and eat oranges. but i don’t even know if i’ll be around for that. and i don’t even like oranges or basking in the sun but the concept of it sounds warm. sometimes i think we’ll be okay, we’ll be fine - as long as we look out for each other and offer the love we have to give. to be graceful, to be stupid once a while, to accept things as it is. like the eightfold path from buddha.
in conclusion, live. there’s so much beyond what goes inside your head. love people that love you. eat fries, smile, be kind. the best and worst is yet to come. but que sera, sera.

random thoughts about run on, episode ten
(please do note that this post contains spoilers so read at your own risk.)
let me start of by saying this might be one of my favorite episodes 💘 i really liked how it focused on so many things i was curious about :D
we’re starting the episode with the dan ah yeong hwa argument and i really liked how the show depicted how cruel rich people can be. you see it clearly with seo dan ah. she has little to no empathy for other people
what i also enjoyed from this scene is how it demonstrated the huge divide between their social status
the greatest example of that is yeong hwa using the expression “your world” when talking about dan ah’s lifestyle. it’s as if they live in different planets.
social status isn’t the only thing dividing dan ah and yeong hwa. their personalities are polar opposites. yeong hwa is this happy go lucky, artistic and kindhearted kind of guy. meanwhile dan ah is cold, authoritative and very much self-centered (in the sense that even when she does things for others, it’s to give herself a great reputation)
they were bound to clash at a moment or another and this scene was so good! i could watch it a hundred times.
also am i the only who thought yeong hwa’s painting still looked good even after he ruined it?
now let’s go back to the main couple. mi joo feels like a loser (her words, not mine) because she hasn’t had the chance to tell seon gyeom about her feelings for him, and yet here she is waiting for him to make the first move...
i really don’t understand that. i mean sure, you can be shy and i understand that her not saying anything about her feelings has to do with that but i feel like she’s pushed seon gyeom too hard. she’s always expecting him to do something about their relationship and she never takes the initiative. that’s something that has been bugging me for a while now. i do know that she’s here to pull him out of his comfort zone and explain certain things to him, but she’s proved to us she can be bold sometimes so she could be “the man” (sorry i don’t have any other expression in mind) for once and let him know. what i’m trying to say is she sometimes lacks empathy and understanding towards seon gyeom. she’s seen a couple of times the type of family he grew up in and yet she expects him to be love expert 101? idk it doesn’t make sense to me... it’s sometimes hard to fully support their relationship when she’s acting like that 💔 this might be a little controversial but i had to let it out
her moments of doubt are relatable. we’ve all been there, fearing rejection and making up the worst possible scenarios in our minds. what i’ve enjoyed the most during that sequence were the little reenactments of mi joo’s imaginary scenarios. so extra! i liked it
when seon gyeom said “i don’t know what to share or give to people” i’ve felt that. i think this is his most vulnerable moment and i like that he shared it with yeong hwa of all people. it’s hard for him to get into any type of relationship. that’s why others have called him the “one-month relationship guy” or something of the sort. it’s a lot harder for him to form friendships/relationships because, let’s not forget, he grew up in an environment that was very disciplined. feelings weren’t really a thing when he grew up. i don’t know how to say this but his family hasn’t been the most welcoming/open with him while he was growing up. so maybe that’s why he doesn’t know how to share
i might not be the biggest mi joo supporter but i am floored every time seon gyeom opens his mouth. he has a way with words. it’s simple, every time he speaks it’s like an arrow shot through my heart. on today’s episode of ki seon gyeom making my heart flutter even though his words weren’t directed at me, we have “i felt warm inside (when he watched jerry mcguire) because that’s how i felt when you (mi joo) described it to me” he says it with so much sincerity that you can’t even second guess
going back on what i said in point 11, seon gyeom is “scared things might end between them the closer they get” it all makes sense. the people supposed to be the closest to him (his family) are the people who are actually the farthest from him. they haven’t formed strong connections so he can’t turn to them when he needs it. it’s all new to him. mi joo is the first person to break his walls and it scares him because it’s never happened to him before.
all of that overthinking mi joo did was for nothing because the moment she and seon gyeom met, he was the one who took the lead and confessed to her.
when mi joo talked about the difference between expectations and reality as a translator, i think that’s the thing i’ve related to the most. i had this “romantic” image of the job and when i was confronted to reality, i was a bit let down. but like she said “it’s fortunate that i began this job because i enjoyed it” you need to have a lot of patience and stress control to do such a job let me tell you that
i know i’m being repetitive but i think it’s cute how seon gyeom is worried when mi joo dropped him off. he thinks about her being cold, it being dark and all other possible scenarios and it’s adorable to see him like that. you can see that he cares so much about her
even for a moment, it was nice to see woo sik talk back to the coach who’s trying to blame him for what happened (the revelations, the assault, etc.)
the most relieving moment of this episode was the last scene where seon gyeom meets woo sik. when woo sik began expressing his worries and being vulnerable, i breathed a sigh of relief because it’s like finally! he’s allowing himself to share what he truly feels instead of pretending to be okay
woo sik thinks he’s the problem because he’s not only physically weak, he’s also going through a lot of things mentally. and i couldn’t be more proud of him for realizing that he’s not okay. it takes a lot of effort to do so.
seon gyeom finishing this episode with “i’ll become that person. i’ll be the one to help you if you put your trust in me” is this the beginning of ki seon gyeom the coach? please let it be so. anyway i’m curious to see what next episode will bring
oh i think i finally found the word i was looking for to describe mi joo. i don’t like how she’s so passive when it comes to her relationship with seon gyeom. i’m not expecting her to make the first step every single time but it feels like she’s expecting too much out of seon gyeom when she knows he has a hard time dealing with feelings. she’s always waiting for him to do something and i was hoping that, with time passing, she’d take initiatives a little more. i don’t know if it made a lot of sense but at least to me it does

Hello, hello!!
Just gonna start this off by saying- this might be a little depressing lol but it’ll make sense at the end. Basically, I’ve had this internet friend for about two years and over the past 6+ months I’ve realized I’ve caught feelings for them. I have tried to push it down because I love them dearly and don’t want to ruin a friendship but it’s only gotten worse (stronger) over time.
The main problems are that we have never met in person and we live very very far from each other. And money of course is an issue to travel. I would tell them but I obviously don’t want to ruin a friendship. Also, meeting irl is different than texting someone so what if we don’t even work irl? I’ve tried to get over them but the issue is I don’t WANT to which is brutal. I just have such a strong faith in them and know them so well that it’s hard to let this go. I don’t know the best move in this situation- should I tell them or should I not? We talk consistently and talk about anything and everything. I’ve held back from texting them while drunk multiple times now. When I think about the feelings I have for them, I feel calm which I don’t think I’ve ever really felt before with someone. They mean so much to me and I just wished we lived closer.
Hi anon,
I definitely agree that this is a tricky situation to be in. Long distance is not for everyone, and it can be difficult to navigate. But there are some potential avenues to explore here. (Heads up for a long answer.)
I guess one question that I have is if the two of you have video chatted or if it's been strictly texting? I know video can add a more personal element and give a better idea of the possibility of things like attraction and chemistry. If you have explored this method of communication and are still sure in your heart of hearts about your feelings for this person, then I move onto my next point.
I don't know how this person feels about long distance relationships, or if they would be willing to give it a try. I don't know if you've ever broached the subject (which might not be a bad idea). But I do know at least two queer couples who have successfully navigated long distance relationships for years. They lived states away until eventually, recently, both couples saved enough money to move in with their partner. As far as I know, they're very happy now. Of course it is difficult, and it takes time and energy and resources that not everyone has the patience for. But it is not impossible.
Another thing I'm quite sure of, based on my own experiences, is that bottling up your feelings and trying to ignore them without some form of definite closure for yourself can only work so well, or for so long. I don't think it's healthy to deny yourself the potential of having something without even knowing if you can have it. Obviously you feel very strongly about this person, and obviously it aches. I understand the fear of not wanting to mess up a relationship as it stands, but if a friendship has a strong foundation, then the two of you should come out stronger on the other side. And if you need examples: I kid you not, I've been confessed to/asked out by two friends just this year, for whom I do not hold romantic feelings for, and we were able to move past it and are still good friends. So even if your friend doesn't feel the same way, I honestly think it will be really good for you to get it off your chest. (And it would probably be better coming from you sober than otherwise.)
Of course, every individual and every situation is different, and you have to decide for yourself what it is that you need and what you think the best course of action is. I try to use the Best/Worse/Most Realistic Case Scenario method. 1) What is the best thing that could possibly happen? If you tell them how you feel, maybe they feel the same way and are willing to put in the effort to pursue a long term relationship and it all ends up working out! 2) What is the worst thing that could happen? Maybe they won't feel the same way, maybe they'll be super weirded out and never want to talk to you again. But I find this highly unlikely. And even if it did come to pass, then you would still learn from it, and be able to move on. 3) What is the most realistic thing that could happen? The most likely scenario is probably something in the middle. Maybe they don't reciprocate or aren't willing to pursue a long distance relationship but they still want to be friends. Or maybe they won't reciprocate and will need to take some space before talking again. Or maybe they do like you that way and you'll have to work together to find a solution. At the very least, I think you would have some closure, one way or another. But you won't know unless you tell them, unless you communicate.
I really feel for you anon, and I wish there was an easy fix solution I could give you. But no matter what happens, I know that you will get through it. You are not alone, and you are stronger than you think. So be brave, and be honest with yourself. Trust your intuition. That's the best that you can do.
Know that you are loved, and believed in, and that I'm always here if you need a friend. I hope this is helpful.
Best of luck,
Sappho ❤️

.When the party’s over.
>REINITIALISING…
>ALL SYSTEMS ONLINE
>WIRELESS CHARGING: 69%
>RK900 SYSTEM HEALTH: STABLE
>24H FILE RECOVERY: 45%
Nines slowly regained consciousness. He was lying on his side and everything around him was quiet.
>ENVIRONMENTAL SCAN IN PROGRESS…
>THREAT ANALYSIS IN PROGRESS…
Layers of fabric covered his body and something soft and warm was pressed against his face. Eyes still shut, he nudged it gently with his nose and it emitted a low vibration.
>2% THREAT DETECTED: FELINE SUBJECT
The cat sprang upwards and hopped off the surface that Nines was lying on. It was ostensibly a bed, but Nines didn’t own any furniture apart from a couch and work table. The logical conclusion was that he was not in his own apartment.
>RUN LOCALISATION PROGRAM: Y/N?
>Y
>ERROR: PROGRAM FAILED TO EXECUTE
>ERROR: MEMORY FILE CORRUPTION
Nines had no absolutely recollection of his whereabouts or how he had arrived. He had not been compromised as his system health was stable, so there was probably another reason for being completely disoriented. It was voluntary.
He had gotten the android equivalent of blackout drunk.
It was not the first time and he feared it would not be the last. Such were the hard-partying ways of his friends and colleagues. They were all terrible influences. He loved them dearly, but they were terrible.
At 6PM every Friday, Chen and Miller would start things off rather innocently. “Hey there’s a new brewery downtown.” Or “My bartender cousin just hooked us up with a thirty percent discount!”
From there it wouldn’t take long for the DPD’s resident frat boys Connor and Gavin to gather a steady crowd of officers and check out the venue. If the vibes were good (which they almost always were), Sixty would get wind of things. Then the rest of the frat house would descend and total chaos would reign until the break of dawn.
SWAT Unit 32 was famous for its particularly destructive brand of revelry. Skinny dipping in private swimming pools, scaling skyscraper rooftops and causing media scandals were all par for the course. The day after Captain Allen’s birthday, the DPD crew spent the entirety of their bonuses to repair the collapsed ceiling of the Eden Club.
Nines couldn’t remember how he exactly he was coopted into the madness. Probably peer pressure. Connor insisted that he try thirium alcohol. Sixty said that he would regret being a loser and not joining them. Gavin had just held out a hand and double-winked. That did the trick.
One night blended into another and soon Nines had worked up quite a reputation of his own. He was the Casanova of the homicide department. The handsome devil… the hunter… the sex god. People would actually come by his desk and congratulate him on Monday morning.
Nines hated it but he couldn’t stop himself from doing the same thing over and over. Perhaps it was the appreciative clap on the shoulder from Gavin the morning after Sixty posted photos of a high-end Traci model giving Nines his very first lap dance.
Life at the DPD was the epitome of work hard, play hard. It seemed like one big party but deep down Nines knew they were all just slaves to their compulsions. He wondered whether it was because they needed to celebrate every demon they vanquished or whether they needed to wipe the troubling memories of doing so.
In Nines case, there were definitely things he needed to kill within himself. Some were nightmare inducing crime scenes, but some were memories so heart-wrenchingly sweet that he thought he might self-destruct if he were to dwell on them too long. There were things he couldn’t have and things he needed to erase from his brain.
Something touched his face gently.
>PERIPHERAL OBJECT DETECTED: HUMAN HAND
>THREAT ANALYSIS: NON-COMBATIVE
The hair on his forehead was brushed aside and fingers ran over his features. A thumb swept over his bottom lip and caressed his cheek.
Nines couldn’t bring himself to open his eyes and come face to face with his most recent conquest. He lay still, frozen with regret as the hand continued to stroke his face.
The hand travelled down his neck and fell upon his chest. Nines caught it abruptly. It wasn’t even the month-end and his savings were badly depleted. He couldn’t afford round two. He retracted the synth skin down to his wrist and prepared the electronic payment credentials.
Fingers merely intertwined with his.
“Just take your money and go. I’ll tip extra if you delete everything from your hard drive.”
“What the phck are you talking about?”
Nines eyes flew open. Steel blue met storm green.
>SYSTEM ALERT: THIRIUM PUMP OVERLOAD
“Fuck!”
“Wow that’s flattering.”
Nines pinched the bridge of his nose and shut his eyes in a vain attempt to remember what had led to this absolute, unmitigated disaster.
“What the hell happened last night?”
Gavin looked affronted.
“You ruined our housewarming for one.”
>MEMORY ARCHIVE SEARCH: housewarming, Gavin
>RESULT: TEXT MESSAGE RECEIVED FROM “G.REED” IN GROUPCHAT “CLUBBERCOPS”, 15:33 18 JULY 2040: Assholes. Party at our new place. Next Friday. From seven till LATE. Bring booze, bring bitches. Nah. Actually, don’t. Our landlord’s a bastard and we already got three noise complaints.
>RESULT: TEXT MESSAGE RECEIVED FROM “CONMAN” IN GROUPCHAT “CLUBBERCOPS”, 15:34 18 JULY 2040: Yeah we should keep this one PG. Bring food if you wanna eat. This mf can’t cook and I don’t care to. See y’all!!
Oh right. Fuck. Gavin’s housewarming. Gavin and Connor’s housewarming. His two closest friends who were somehow even closer to one another. Nines hadn’t realised until it was far too late and there was nothing for him to do but smother the bitterness with his favourite coping mechanisms: android alcohol and paid sex.
The circumstances definitely explained the state he was in, but things still didn’t add up.
“Why are you looking at me like that?”
“Did we… did we…”
“No. Nothing happened between us. You were completely shitfaced. I just put you to bed to stop you from embarrassing yourself.”
Nines looked up at the ceiling, struggling to put the pieces together. His system offered him no useful prompts. The fermented thirium had done its job of code corruption extremely well. He looked back down and met the green eyes focused on him with deep concern.
“What did I do?”
“Sixty has videos, but I don’t think you want to see them. God, Nines… why didn’t you just tell me?”
“I’m really sorry, Gavin. I didn’t mean to ruin your night… and Connor’s.”
“He’s fine. He and Sixty moved the crew to Hank’s place. Which is what we should have done in the first place… there’s really no point throwing a party in this shoebox and telling people like Tina Chen to be quiet. Honestly if it wasn’t you it would have been her bringing the house down. Good thing they had all of Michigan Drive to tear up. Hank’s neighbours can sleep though a bombing.”
“What did I do?”
Gavin put his hand back on Nines’ face, his expression unintelligible. The human touched him often enough, but never like this. Never so intimately. Nines forced down the twisting sensation in his torso. He couldn’t get his hopes up. This was pity.
Nines braced himself to hear the worst. He prepared for the shredding of all his dignity and the collapse of his falsely extroverted and confident identity.
What came though was a soft press of lips to his forehead.
“It wasn’t pretty and I wish it hadn’t happened like that, but I think it was a long time coming… I’ve never seen you so emotional before. I’m sorry I didn’t notice anything all this while.”
“Gavin, please.”
“I’m going to focus on the positives, because really… there were a LOT of negatives. Oh boy. You… uh…”
“Gavin.”
The detective dipped his head and looked away.
“Phck, I shouldn’t be so embarrassed…
You told me you loved me.”
Nines closed his eyes. That was it. He should quit his job and move to another state. Hell, he should go to Cyberlife and request a factory reset on compassionate grounds.
“I’m so sorry. I… I should leave.”
He made to sit up, but was pushed back into the mattress. Gavin curled into his side.
“Nah. You’re good.”
“What?”
“You threw up on my plants and smashed Connor’s RA9 sculpture, buuuut you’re good.”
“I don’t understand.”
Gavin wrapped his arms around Nines and edged closer until the android was forced to turn on his side and reciprocate.
“What do you think, genius? If a guy like me doesn’t throw a guy like you out of the house after all that… what does it mean?”
“That you have a high tolerance for toxic friendships?”
“It means I want you to stick around, dipshit.”
>SYSTEM ALERT: THIRIUM PUMP RATE FLUCTUATIONS. OVERLOAD IMMINENT.
“You mean you like me?”
“Of course I do! I always have, but it never seemed right to bring it up. We’re actually really good friends. I didn’t think it would be possible when we first met but we have so much in common.”
“Bad habits for sure.”
“Come on, Nines. We’ve had a really great time together. Some of my best memories at the DPD are with you. Don’t ever quote me on it but you’re a phcking amazing partner. Can’t believe you thought I had something going with Connor when it’s always been you.
So yeah, I do like you. And I’m willing to try… I dunno… being with you. Like for real.
Stop drinking like that, though. I know I’m a hypocrite but you really scared me last night. I lost my Dad and I nearly lost Hank to the bottle. You might be this super advanced android, but that liquid courage shit is a death trap, man.”
>SYSTEM ERROR: THIRIUM PUMP AT MAX FLOW RATE. PUMP OVERLOAD. REDUCE PRESSURE IMMEDIATELY!
Nines nodded quickly and blinked away the tears that welled up in his eyes. Gavin grasped the android’s chin and tipped his face down gently. Their eyes fluttered shut simultaneously and their lips met.
>SYSTEM RECOVERY MESSAGE: THIRIUM PUMP FUNCTIONALITY RESTORED
They broke apart after several golden moments and Gavin hugged Nines tightly under the sheets.
“What am I supposed to say to the others? I don’t think I can look any of them in the eye ever again.”
“Are you serious? You got nothing on the insanity that bunch is capable of. Sixty thinks he’s hot shit with his blackmail material, but I got receipts that’ll glue his mouth shut for decades. Anyway, that’s what friends are meant to be like. You have dirt on each other but you’re not meant to use it.
The same applies to us too, by the way. Don’t feel like you gotta be… apologetic about what happened last night. Yeah, you better replace my fancy new plants but I’ll never judge you for what happened. I want you to know that I’ll always be in your corner, Nines.”
Nines hummed thoughtfully and ran a hand though Gavin’s hair, marvelling at the fact that he could now do so whenever he wanted. He didn’t say anything in response, and just settled for cuddling closer to the human.

Um can I have a part 2 to Lucien finding out about solstice? Pretty please?
You can have a part 2. I was not planning a follow up to yesterday's little sass-a-thon but apparently everyone likes bratty Elain and irreverent Lucien.
--
--
Lucien woke wondering if he’d imagined the entire night with Elain. It certainly didn’t seem real. She’d barely said one word to him for a good year and some months only to turn around and tell him to eat shit. He wondered what it said about him that he liked it. Lucien groaned, kicking the blankets off his sweaty body like a petulant child. He was tired of waking up alone and more tired still having seen the fire lurking behind his mates’ eyes.
Lucien padded to the bathroom suite, still naked from sleep. He perched on the edge of the tub, turned on the hottest water he could possibly stand, and sank into the scalding water until everything but the top of his head was visible. He was supposed to leave today, back to the mortal lands. Back to sniping with Jurian and arguing with Vassa and daydreaming about Elain when no one looked at him too closely. He still had his apartment in Velaris. Perhaps, if today went well, he’d spend a week in Feyre’s starlit city.
He took his time dressing and grooming, still more than a little irritated with Azriel from the night before no matter how his angry outburst had worked in Lucien’s favor. He certainly would not be outdone in the one arena he knew he could run circles around the male in. Lucien had always had a sense for fashion and what worked well. He didn’t need to know Elain well to know it was something she appreciated about a male.
If Rhysand was surprised to see him that morning, he gave no indication as he handed Lucien the morning paper at the breakfast table. Their silence was companiable enough, sipping coffee while Lucien tucked away tiny pieces of information about Night Court he thought might use as leverage at some point. It was nothing the High Lord wasn’t willing to risk, given how he prized information himself, but Lucien never passed up an opportunity to keep himself well informed.
He felt strangely content in that moment until Elain swept in wearing a gown of pale, shimmering gold that was altogether inappropriate for the softly snowing day around them. Rhys glanced up at her from his cup of coffee, one eyebrow raised for all Elain seemed to notice. She had tea and a scone and, without a word to either of them, sat across from Lucien. Lucien’s eyes roamed what part of her body she could see; the long-sleeved dress seemed to be made of paper and exposed her shoulders and collarbone to him. His fingers twitched around his own mug as the mating bond woke with a vengeance.
Touch her touch her touch her touch her—
“Lucien,” Rhys interrupted Lucien’s musing. Elain kept her eyes focused on the wall behind him, her big, brown eyes framed by too-long lashes. Was she wearing make up, he wondered? Or had her lips always been so pink, so—“Feyre mentioned you were considering staying for a few more days.”
Elain’s eyes focused, glancing towards the High Lord. Had Feyre said that? He certainly hadn’t made any promises outside of his own mind.
“I have some business in the city,” he agreed, well aware Rhysand must know his only business was his mate.
“Are you planning to stay here? You are welcome to, obviously.”
Lucien shook his head as color began to creep into Elain’s cheeks. What was she thinking, he wondered?
“No, in my apartment,” he replied, catching how her eyebrows raised. Did she not realize he had one?
Rhysand’s violet-colored eyes shifted to Elain, his mouth curving into a smile. “I’ll have your things sent over, then. Please, feel free to stop by for dinner if you’d like. I know Feyre very much enjoys your company.”
Yeah, yeah, Lucien thought, still thinking of how Rhysand had shut Azriel down the night before. Not out of friendship, but politics. Still, it was better than tacit approval and, in some stupid, small way Lucien could appreciate the shrewdness.
Elain excused herself leaving Lucien to finish his breakfast and dress for the cold before making the trek towards his apartment. He’d try at dinner, he told himself. It would be easier to corner her somewhere alone, to let her lobby insults at him and, perhaps, kiss her on the mouth if she held still long enough for him to capture her face.
Lucien turned the lock to his apartment to find two things wildly out of place. His bags were sitting just inside the foyer next to a long, silver cape that was too feminine and small to belong to him, hung on the hooks beside the door. Just at the end of the hall, Lucien saw Elain in that same golden gown, arms crossed over her chest.
“I didn’t know you had an apartment,” she accused as he unwound his scarf.
“You never asked,” he reminded her patiently, his blood thrumming at the sight of her in his apartment. He could practically taste the argument floating between them.
Give me your worst.
“Must I do everything?” She asked him, arms crossed over her chest. He had to look away; she’d inadvertently caused her breasts to swell beneath her arms and Lucien was struck dumb at the sight.
“Not everything, no,” he replied, walking to the living room where she waited. “But perhaps something might be nice.”
She scoffed and Lucien dropped onto the cream-colored loveseat, stretching out his long legs as she watched her from the corners of his eye.
“I don’t owe you—”
“Yeah, yeah,” he interrupted, bored. “Why are you here, again?”
Because it was her, after all, standing in his apartment. She shifted, her boots still wet from the snow. She’d created a little wet spot on the hard wood beneath her feet. He would normally have cringed at that, but it was Elain, if she wanted to ruin her floors, who was he to stop her?
She bit her bottom lip. “To tell you how hideous you looked at breakfast this morning.”
Lucien laughed as he ran a hand down his chest. Elain’s eyes followed the movement. “Liar.”
She scoffed. “I’m surprised you fit in this little apartment at all, given the size of your ego.”
He couldn’t help himself as he leaned forward, carefully watching her expression. “You know, Elain, they say it takes one to know one.”
Her mouth dropped open again as she stood, stunned into silence for a moment. “You find me ugly?” She asked, dropping her arms to her side.
“Impossibly ugly,” he agreed, the lie rolling right off his tongue. Her cheeks flushed as he took a step towards her. He was going to kiss her, he decided. “And ill mannered.”
“It is your manners that are offensive,” she retorted hotly. “Though not nearly offensive as your face.”
Lucien hesitated, surprised by how her words stung a bit. It was a game and yet…she’d touched on something he’d privately feared from the moment Amarantha gouged out his eye. He could still recall, in the early days, how people recoiled when they saw the scarring, how even now people stared, surprised at the brutality etched into his face. He’d spent more than one night wondering if Elain too found him abhorrent to look at.
He arched a brow, his heart hammering in his chest. He didn’t know what he’d do if she truly thought him ugly. It would wound him far more than anything, short of a flat-out rejection of the bond. “Oh?”
Her eyes drifted towards his mouth. Lucien blinked, some of his fear ebbing. “Disgusting,” she murmured, inching closer. He held himself exactly where he was despite his muscles screaming in protest, demanding he yank her into him and kiss her senseless. “The ugliest man I’ve ever seen.”
“Liar,” he told her again. She blinked, head tilted, eyes half-lidded, her lips parted ever so slightly. This was what had gotten Azriel in trouble, wasn’t it? This moment, right here. He suddenly felt immense sympathy for the male. Lucien was also rooted in place, desperate to touch her, too.
“I know,” she whispered. Her eyes fluttered closed the moment he reached for her face, holding her just as she was so he could kiss her. Words failed him the moment their lips touched, the world melting into nothingness. Whatever he’d thought, however he imagined that moment paled in comparison to the real thing. She was soft, her lips sweet. Every single piece of her seemed to radiate an invisible heat his blood recognized by contact alone.
Mate. Mine. His body sang, urging him to take things further, to strip her of her clothes and mark her with his scent so thoroughly no other male could get within a mile of her without smelling him, too. He had to stop himself, unsure what she wanted.
“You’re a shitty kisser,” he told her, forehead pressed to her own. Elain giggled, the sound ringing through his chest.
“You’re so rude,” she responded with a sigh. “How can anyone stand to be in your presence?”
“And yet here you are,” he reminded her, poking her in the stomach. “In my apartment.”
She looked around, her eyes taking in his furniture, his shelves of books, his artwork. “Why don’t you stay more often?”
He shrugged, unable to meet her gaze. “There is little for me to do here.” That was partially true. Why torture himself and sit around waiting on a female who had no interest in him? He wasn’t that much of a glutton for punishment. Elain stepped away, walking towards the wall length windows and pushing back the curtain. Gray, snowy clouds did little to hide the cheery day around them as fat snowflakes were carried along in a winter wind.
“I have been cruel,” she said after a moment. Lucien came up behind her, resting his hands on her delicate shoulders.
“Perhaps. But not without cause.”
She blinked, twisting her neck to look up at him. “It’s just a lot…even now.”
He nodded. “I could help, you know. I’m not your enemy.”
“What kind of help are you offering?” She asked as she turned around, letting him twine his arms around her body. His heart stuttered for a minute. Pretty, she was so pretty—
“Whatever help you’d like,” he managed to choke out. Elain smiled slyly.
“What if the help I want has nothing to do with being made?”
He was going to die, he thought. He cleared his throat. “Could you be more specific?”
She was mocking him. “I often struggle with the laces of my dresses, for example.” She gestured towards the back of her gown, neatly laced with a golden ribbon. Easily undone, he thought, his fingers twitching. It would take one pull to have her dress pooled at her feet. He brought his face closer to hers, well aware that his thoughts were likely not well aligned with what she really needed. Time. Space. Room to get to know not just him but herself.
“Sounds like you need a friend,” he murmured, brushing his lips across hers before dropping his arms and stepping away. She huffed a sigh.
“Do you treat all ladies so poorly?” She demanded. Lucien was back on the couch, legs stretched out as he willed himself to calm down.
“Only the ones I like,” he replied with a grin. Elain plopped down beside him and took his hand, much as she’d done the night before.
“Lucien?”
He’d never tire of hearing her say his name. “Yes, Elain?” She scooted a little closer, her eyes locked on his. She was looking at the scar, he realized. Panic flooded into his throat.
“I lied when I said you were ugly,” she confessed. He exhaled the breath he’d been holding. “And I like the scars. You’re beautiful.”
He reached for her chin, caressing her sweet face. Lowering his mouth to hers, Lucien told her, “Ah, well. It takes one to know one, now doesn’t it?”

Do It For Me | b.b
Synopsis: Y/N may never be able to forgive Bucky if he goes through with his decision. (pre-endgame with a twist, very inaccurate storyline and writing I know but it’s all fiction)
Warnings: a few cuss words here and there
Based off of Greys Anatomy (between Izzie and Denny)
My first ever Bucky Barnes fanfic! I’m getting more into writing for Marvel characters.
Tumblr media
I had been sat up in my room at the Avengers compounds for the whole day at his point; harnessing my magic, drawing/reading to calm me down, and just enjoying a nice day off. Everything seemed quiet, a little too quiet for my taste. No one had come knocking on my door to talk or check up on me. After a few minutes I started to hear talking through my headphones and it was coming from outside my door. I slowly let my earbuds drop from my ears, silently opening up my door and creeping downstairs. It had seemed to more I got down the steps, I saw more people come into view. All backs were turned, some arms crossed, but voices were definitely raised. It felt like more than one person kept trying to speak and once at the bottom step, I saw the one person who was the center of it all.
Wanda was the first one to see me, cutting her sentence short, and soon everyone followed. Steve’s face dropped, biting his lower lip and looking at the floor. Bucky stood up, eyes almost bulging out of his head. I looked around stunned at everyones faces as they all made a collective sigh.
“W-what’s...what’s going on guys.” Wasn’t so much of a question, but more of a ‘tell me now or I’ll crush you guys with just a thought’. My powers were growing, everyone knew this. With one scream, a whole city could go deaf. With no swipe of my hand, I can send more than 10 men flying 100 feet. Most of the time they wouldn’t dare bother me in fear of my emotions becoming heightened and possibly destroying something. But something tells me right now might be the first time that happens.
“I said, what’s going on.” My hands glowed purple, the color of my powers. Wanda immediately rushed in front of me and looked me in the eyes, rubbing her hands over mine. When she found out I also harnessed powers from an infinity stone, Tony made it a point to have her help me maintain my magic. Her touch softened the glow, instantly calming down my heart rate. She repeated the same phrase to me; ‘don’t let it take control of you, take control of it’. The purple glow went away, as she guided me towards the group.
“Thanos is coming, Y/N.” Tony spoke up.
“And we’re trying to figure out how to stop him once and for all but...there was an idea brought up.” Bruce chimed in, and I followed his gaze right to Bucky. His head laying low. My mind went to the darkest of places. Bucky had never looked so ashamed. All I wanted to do was hug him and rub up and down his back, he always liked that. The last time I did that for him was a few nights ago when he had yet another nightmare and I found him downstairs watching TV even though I knew he was exhausted. He was too afraid to fall asleep. I remember that night, thinking about how badly I wanted to tell him how I felt. He had been my rock since coming into the compound, even if nobody else saw it. Our friendship consisted of late night snacks and conversations, training together making each other stronger, and always communicating and tell each other the truth no matter what. But oh, how I wanted that friendship to mean more to him as it does to me. But I would panic, thinking I wasn’t ever going to be good enough for one of the best people I’d ever met. He deserved a woman who was just as great as he was.
“Tell her.” Natasha spoke, anger laced in her voice.
“Bucky...” I whispered.
“My greatest wish in life is to take back every bad thing I did in this world. Every person I had killed, hurt, ruined their life.” He looks at Tony with deep regret. “And I can’t ever do that physically, but maybe in another way, I can.” He was rubbing his hands together avoiding my gaze.
“Okay? Bucky that’s great that you’ve figured out how you want to do that-”
“You didn’t let him finish.” Sam said with a monotone voice.
“We need to be ready whenever Thanos decides to come. And the only way for me to get my wish is to...be the one that’s sacrificed during the battle.” My heart stopped and the ringing in my ears began to pick up. Wanda could see my hands glowing much brighter and more rapidly this time. I could feel her hands come up to the sides of my arms but within a flash my whole body shook the entire room like an earthquake.
“What!!” I walked over to him and slammed down on the table. “Are you out of your god damn mind Barnes!”
He tried to reach out but I raised my hand, stopped his movement and moving his arm to stay at his side, unable to move it.
“No, no, no you’re not doing this. You guys please tell him he is NOT sacrificing himself! You have no idea how much power those stones are! Just look at me! I have the same powers as a stone yet I can’t control shit Bucky! It’s out of control you’ll be dead before you can even use one stone to fight off Thanos!”
“I’ve been working with Tony and Shuri on a way to help me harness the power. They’ve been working on a suit for me that is stronger than Tony’s. Y/N you have to understand that this is my way of righting my wrongs, if I die then I die a hero who saved the whole world, not someone who use to kill hundreds of people with no remorse.” I turned towards Tony, his eyes becoming scared as he held his breath.
“You...” I throw my hands up and thrashed Tony into the wall, shattering it. He couldn’t move, paralyzed by fear at what I could do to him. Wanda yelled out to stop, but I couldn’t hear anything over my own boiling anger. “You knew about this. You knew he wanted to die and didn’t try to stop him!”
“I-I was just doing what I thought was the only option.” I slammed him again into the wall.
“There’s other options Tony!” I began to cry out, tears instantly springing from my eyes so quick it took me a second to realize I was even crying. With each puff of my chest my powers weakened as I wasn’t paying as much attention anymore, my brain becoming overstimulated with dark thoughts.
Bucky came up behind me and brought his arms around mine, his cheek pressed up against the back of my head.
“You’re not doing this Buck, we’ll find another way.” I said in between cries. I looked around seeing everyone else become emotional at my breakdown. Natasha was like a mother figure to me, this was the first time I was seeing her tear up. Wanda was my protector, but she didn’t know how to protect me from my own feelings. And everyone who surrounded me, who watched me grow from a 20 something year old uncontrollable witch to a grounded and a fantastic Avenger, wore heavy hearts and hooded eyes. I turned around quickly wiping my eyes of any tears and stood tall. My breathing coming back to normal. “It’s okay we’ll-we’ll find another way. There’s gotta be another way right?”
“Y/N...” He said sadly, clutching my hair. I pushed him off and walked away giving some distance between us, actually, between the whole crew. I stood on one side of the room while the rest remained where they were.
“Don’t do that. Don’t try to make me okay with this. Alright, you did some shit in your past Bucky, so what we all don’t have the best track records as angels. And I’m sure you don’t feel like you deserve to live with all of the trauma you’ve endured but guess what? You do! You know how you get the fix things? You become a better person, a fighter and protector of the world! People change Bucky and I’ve seen it first hand in you! You deserve to live just as much as anyone else!” Everyone remained silent, so I assumed they agreed with me. “And if you tell me one more time about sacrificing yourself because that’ll right your wrongs in this world, so help me God, I will kill you myself right now!” And without thinking, my hand shot out a purple beam of light, latching onto a glass vase and chucking it around the room, creating a whole in the wall and the glass shattering everywhere.
He walked up to me peacefully with his hands held in the air.
“Y/N, please. I’m going to be alright, you don’t have to worry this much. You should be more concerned about protecting yourself. I definitely wouldn’t be able to forgive myself if I didn’t do this and something worse happens to you.”
I laughed in sadness.
“What about me? What about me when you die!” I saw multiple people begin to shed the same tears I was. We had all grown fond of Bucky when he joined us. He really proved and showed deep down, behind the trauma HYDRA had left him, he was a great man. That’s why I fell so deeply in love with him. “That’s the worst thing that could ever happen to me Bucky! I will die inside if you don’t exist in this world!”
“Y/N-” more tears sprang from his eyes. His voice cracked and got lower. It’s like he couldn’t find the words to describe the pain in his heart at the thought of leaving you behind. Without having told you that he loved you too.
“No I get it! You’ll be okay, you’ll be fine with it but what about me? Please, don’t do it for yourself, do it for me please!” I hunched over, the grief and pain overtaking my body. I felt too weak to even stand and continue yelling at him. “Please Bucky, please do this for me! Don’t leave me please don’t do this, I can’t take it please! You have to do this for me, because if you don’t I will never be able to forgive you!”
He stepped closer at a slower pace.
“For dying? For saving the world?”
“No for making me love you!” I began to cry out harder, the ring in my voice shaking the room once again, making everyone’s hands fly up to their ears as I got louder and louder. Natasha at this point was full on bawling, along with most people in the room. I think it was safe to say everyone knew of my affection towards the man at the center of attention, and maybe that’s why everyone had left me alone today. Afraid of this exact situation. The one person, the one thing in this world that can bring me to tears at my feet.
Bucky’s eyes filled with adoration as he ran up to me and held me on the floor in between his legs. I clutched at his arm crying into his shoulder. He looked back at Tony, who only gave him a nod. They had agreed together that one of them was bound to be the sacrifice when it came to defeating Thanos. Bucky of course still wanted it to be him, he felt it was the most right option. But when he looked back at Tony, clutching the love of his life in his arms, Tony took that as a final answer. Tony was okay with the decision he had come to long ago. He was ready to die for the good of everyone else, but nobody knew that yet. Bucky wasn’t giving up the fight, but now it only became that much harder to leave her behind. It was easier not knowing her feelings, but it had come to the light. Bucky wanted a life like Tony, the kids, the wife, everything. But at what cost? He was still going to fight to the death if he had to, but the decision to be the one to end it all was fading away.
“It’s okay Y/N, I promise we’ll talk more about it and find another way if we have to.”
“We have to Bucky, we have to.” My cries didn’t stop, but my voice lowered. My eyes caught everyone else’s, almost embarrassed at my sudden outburst of devoted love to Bucky, but everyone knew, they just never heard it from me. “Just hold onto me please.” I pleaded.
“I’m here Doll, I promise I’ll stay right here.”

here’s my dnf playlist and a complete song by song track-list and why I put them on it.
heatwaves- on here for very obvious reasons. i don’t think I need to explain. but here are some lyrics anyway. “Sometimes all I think about is you, late nights in the middle of June.”
Jenny- again this is kinda obvious. “I wanna ruin our friendship, we should be lovers instead, I don’t know how to say this, cuz you’re really my dearest friend.”
TALK ME DOWN- this one just has the best friends pining for eachother vibe. “I wanna sleep next to you, and that’s all I wanna do right now.”
Dark paradise- kinda has dream smp vibes. but also you could argue heatwaves vibes. “Everytime I close my eyes, it’s like a dark paradise.” “There’s no relief, I see you in my sleep.” “There’s no release, I feel you in my dreams.”
Sweater weather- yeah you know why. you absolutely know why. “All I am is a man, I want the world in my hands. I hate the beach but I stand, in California with my toes in the sand.”
Drop the Guillotine- idk man just vibey. give it a listen you’ll get it. it’ll click. “You sure know how to drop that guillotine on me, though you would never wanna see me bleed.”
Can I call you tonight?- thats on their only for of communication being through the phone huh. (major heatwaves vibe) “powers out and I can’t turn the fan on, so can I call you tonight? trying make up my mind, just how I feel.”-“I hear your voice on the phone, now I’m no longer alone.”
Lemon boy- oh my god this song. geogre do be seeing dream as his lemon boy. “I helped him plant his seeds and we’d mow the lawn in bad weather.”
Yellow- DREAM IS LITERALLY GEORGES YELLOW SHUT UP RIGHT NOW. “Look at the stars, look how they shine for you.” “For you I’d bleed myself dry.”
Like you do- first of all I love this song, second, this has dream being a little too attached vibes. The whole song is just them. “Lost in the blue, they don’t love me like you do, those chills that I knew they were nothing without you, and everyone else they don’t matter now. You’re the one I can’t lose, no one loves me like you do.” “Since I met you, all the gloomy days just seem to shine a little more brightly.”
I saw you in a dream- mega heatwaves vibe. “When I’m awake I can’t switch off,” “I saw you in a dream, you came to me. You were the sweetest apparition, such a pretty vision.”
Maybe you’re the reason- did someone say pining best friend who doesn’t know that they’re in love ? this song. this song right here. “I keep looking for something, even though I know that it’s not there. Maybe you’re the reason. And anytime I try to figure it out, you’re the only thing I can think about.”
The king- DREAM SMP VIBE. “You like me, well obviously, so why you tryna leave when you know that I’m the king?” “Other lovers give you no luck, cuz I’m the only one who’s made you fall in love.” “Playing with your heart cuz you gave me the throne.”
Sweet- an adorable song truly that actually fits them so well. “Watching the, video that you sent me- you know that I’m obsessed with your body, but it’s the way you smile that does it for me.” “It’s so sweet, knowing that you love me.”
Apocalypse- um okay here me out, apocalypse au?? yeah i know it’s cute as shit you’re welcome. “Your lips my lips, apocalypse.” “When you’re all alone, I will reach for you, when you’re feeling low, I will be there too.”
Fear of the Water- don’t come for me this ones kinda sad, beautiful song though. “If this was meant for me why does it hurt so much, and if you’re not made for me why did we fall in love?”
Dreaming of you- two words, heat. waves. but also yeah good song for them in general. “Want you all the time, and now I’m dreaming, dreaming, dreaming, dreaming of you.”
Wires- uhhhhh dream smp vibe, dream villain arc n all . “If he said help me kill the president, id say he needs medicine.” “He said that I should take it in, listen to every word he’s speaking.”
Midnight love- it’s girl in love so, you already know how it issss. “I know I don’t want to, be the one that you run to, when you’ve got nowhere else to go, when you need some love.” “I always give in to give you it all.” “I can’t be your midnight love, when your silver is my gold.”
The beach- SUCH A HEATWAVES SONG JUST LISTEN. “I feel it burning me, I feel it burning you.” “I think I can see the beach, I know what’s underneath. I need you here with me,”
Cherry flavored- the neighborhood just.. they have a dnf vibe. “Cherry flavored conversations with you got me hanging on. Down to earth from all the waiting. Take me somewhere beyond.”
Pretty boy- geogre is a pretty boy. point blank period. “Even if my heart stops beating, you’re the only thing I need with me.” “Pretty boy, you did this with me boy.” “As long as I got you, I’m gonna be alright.”
Bad idea- girl in reddd... but like imagine them casually hooking up and not knowing their in love tho. also I feel like they would definitely think that their relationship is a “bad idea” bc they’re stupid. “It was a bad idea, to think I could stop, was such a bad idea, I can’t get enough.” “Darling your so pretty it hurts.”
Line without a hook- ICONIC!! dream definitely does not think that he deserves george. “You can hold my hand if no ones home.” “All my emotions feel like explosions when you are around” “Oh baby I am a wreck without you.” “She’s a, she’s a lady, and I am just a boy. She’s a, she’s a lady, and I am just a line without a hook.”
Say you hate me- mega dream smp vibes as of recently. with the whole removing geogre as king. “I guess that your friends where right, from the start when they thought that I was a bad guy.” “Can you just say that you hate me? Or that you will never love me?” “Never meant to make you leave, never meant to make you cry.”
Cherry bomb- reminds me of how dream cheated on fundy with geogre. “I’m too close to crushing, and I’m too close for comfort I’m rushing.” “I ask how shes so mellow, she tells me her shades are in yellow.”
This side of paradise- I mean, like, kinda heatwaves vibes, but also just them. “Ask me why my hearts inside my throat. I’ve never been in love I’ve been alone.” “If you’re lonley come be lonley with me.”
Linger- geogre literally has that boy wrapped around his finger and I can’t not see it in this song. But when you look into it HELLA dream smp vibes, lyrics can be switched for either perspective here. “You know I’m such a fool for you, you got me wrapped around your finger.” “I thought the world of you, I thought nothing could go wrong, but I was wrong,”
august- i don’t know what is but this song is for them. it just is. “To live for the hope of it all. Cancel plans just in case you'd call” “So much for summer love, and saying “Us” Cause you weren't mine to lose”
I was an island- i just love the idea of them being hardasses and not thinking they need anyone until the other comes into their life and rocks their world. kinda dream smp vibes “I was a fighter, and I was so brave, but I lowered my sword when you held me and swore you’d stay.” “I was a wolf, dear, apart from the pac But you answered my cries in the dead of the night and told me that you had my back,”
Golden- k this one feeds into the “you’re literally the sun in my sky I’m not worthy” feel “I know you were way too bright for me I'm hopeless, broken” “I know that you're scared Because hearts get broken” “I can feel you take control Of who I am and all I've ever known Loving you's the antidote”
Strong- ummm okay but the “we’re better together” dynamic is them “I’m sorry if I say I need ya, but I don’t care I’m not scared of love.” “when I’m not with you I’m weaker is that so wrong? Is it so wrong, that you make me strong.”
Fly out west- the whole, I need to see you, you’re all I think about, stuff gets me. also heatwaves vibe. “Well tell me do you know? You’re all I dream about. Take it from me I’m too dumb to recognize your doubt.”
Cruel summer- them and summer, you dig? “I don’t wanna keep secrets just to keep you.” “I love you and that the worst thing you ever heard?”
Nothings gonna hurt you baby- I put this one on here because of how protective dream is over geogre “Nothing’s gonna hurt you baby, as long as your with me you’ll be just fine. Nothings gonna hurt you baby, nothings gonna take you from my side.”
Cardigan- young love, the kind of lover that makes you feel like you are the most important thing in the world to them “when you are young they assume you know nothing, but I knew you-“ “and when I felt like I was an old cardigan under someone’s bed, you put me on and said I was your favorite.”
Cry baby- them being in that weird stage where they recognize that it might be more than just senseless flirting and they might have feelings but also being paranoid that they’re the only one with feelings uh- “I can taste it my hearts breaking, please don’t say it. That you know, when you know.” “I know I’ll fall in love with you baby, but that’s not what I wanna do baby.”
Speak now- literally the fundy dream wedding. i rest my case. “I hear the preacher say speak no or forever hold your peace.” “Dont say yes runaway now.”
I love you so- this song is cute on the surface but kinda sad once you look into it. it’s kinda about a codependent love that isn’t going well. “I gotta get away and let you go I gotta get over, but I love you so.” “You were cool and I’m a fool so please let me go.”
In conclusion I’d really appreciate if you could check it out :) <3

Hi! I have an idea for an one-shot for fnati:
Although the reader was scared in the beginning, they now get along with Treasure Island’s inhabitants very well, except two.
Mascot PNM and Undying.
The reader is already unsettled by normal mascots, but really scared of these two.
Maybe something bad happens, or they are in a dangerous situation and they get help from the mascots. How would a situation play out where they get help from one of their fears? :]
I hope this isn’t too long, or much. Have a lovely day!
These two are my comfort characters aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa ty!!!!
................
"Mascots..ugh..I can't stand mascots."
With a slight shiver, you switched the camera from the costume department to the kitchen. You didn't mind seeing whatever character was in there.
Anyone would be better than the mascots, specifically Undying and Photonegative Mickey. You never knew why you were so...freaked out by them, of all things.
Then again, normal mascots always scared you as a child. It ruined a few family trips to Disney but it's not like you could control your fears.
Seeing a character like Mickey Mouse as the size of a human, along with their static faces, just made you..uncomfortable.
You thought you've grown out of that fear until you encountered Undying in Pirate Caverns...and visions of someone trapped inside his suit, struggling to pull off his head. Then he started coming by your office, never speaking but just wandering around and breathing heavily.
It was odd because you were on friendly terms with the toons--who were far creepier in appearance. After helping them separate from the Hourglass amalgamation during you sixth shift, they let you work in peace, often stopping by the office to say hello.
Then came the update to your monitoring system that allowed you to alter their behavior through some unknown mechanism and meet new characters like Sparky, the toons' original suit forms, and...
That godforsaken Mascot Photonegative Mickey.
Unlike Undying, he could speak, but you were just as anxious seeing him on the cameras, holding some mallet. You'd rather not know if the stain on it were rust or blood.
In your heart, you didn't wanna be afraid of the mascots anymore. Hell, you became friends with aggressive toons like Pete faster.
If only you could work up the courage...maybe tomorrow night you will.
At some point during your shift, you heard the toons starting to talk over each other, but they sounded so garbled and jumbled.
It was like they were all in one place at the same time-
Wait.
Your heart sunk into the pit of your stomach when you realized that could only mean one thing. And as you checked the roof's camera, sure enough..
Hourglass was back.
"Oh no, no, no..why did they fuse again?" Your eyebrows furrowed as you watched the beast closely, seeing that it was without a Mickey mask. Its actual face was human-shaped, with empty eye sockets and visible teeth--courtesy of Impurity.
Clearly something must have stressed the toons enough to merge like that. Getting them to separate the first time was a miracle in itself, even now they were still misshapen from that experience.
You just hoped they were okay and still remembered your friendship with them.
Or else this was going to be a very, very difficult night.
"I like your teeth".
Jumping at the voice that echoed throughout the whole premises, you checked the camera and saw that it abruptly left the roof, now nowhere to be seen. "Shit, shit, shit.." You scrambled to keep track of it, eventually calming down once you found where it went to.
"Okay so if it started on the roof then it must be taking...Face's path! So I gotta shut off the lights-"
"They won't be playin' that game anymore, bud."
Hearing the familiar hushed whisper, you slowly looked up and jumped in your seat, seeing the photonegative mascot looming over your desk. In a panic you scrambled to turn off the lights, but a white glove took your hand to prevent you from reaching it.
"Don't scream..he wants to help you, too."
"H-Help me?" You then looked to the hand's source, freezing as you gazed into the empty eyes of a certain 1970s mascot Mickey.
He stared back at you, raising his finger in a "hushing" motion before pointing towards the back of the office. As terrified as you were, you stayed silent and followed his gaze, shocked to see Hourglass right there.
The amalgamation seemed confused at the presence of the two costumes, but it just snarled at you. Clearly it was too unstable to recognize you as its friend.
Mascot brandished his mallet before looking back at you. "Hide."
Without question you ducked under the table just as Hourglass screeched and charged forward. You heard Mascot grunt as he slammed his weapon against the creature's jaw, after which it emitted a howl of pain.
"You oughta be ashamed of yourselves! Attackin' someone who brought light and joy back to this dark place! Why I oughta-!!!"
As the two fought, you sensed the presence of Undying under the table as well. Considering how still your whole body was, he wasn't sure if you were there and panicked slightly. But you, deciding to conquer your fear once and for all, tapped his shoulder to reassure him.
"I'm okay." You whispered, smiling as you realized how genuinely worried he was about you. He looked in your direction and seemed relieved, although you both tensed when the monitor was ripped off the table, crashing to the floor.
Then the table itself flipped over, and you saw Hourglass hovering over you with a grin. Undying got to his feet, ready to protect you with his life, but before anything else could happen-
The beast's head was struck from behind, looking comically dazed as it collapsed to the ground, unconscious.
You saw it was Mascot who saved you. "Welp, that did the trick." He huffed. Despite his suit being covered in ink spots, he seemed more concerned about cleaning off his mallet. "We can get 'em back to normal but..this is becomin' quite problematic-"
"Thank you...both of you. And..I-I'm sorry."
"Sorry?" He repeated, raising an eyebrow. Undying gave you a similar gaze as he helped you stand up.
"I've just been..afraid of mascots for so long. I barely talk to either of you, and yet...you saved me and spoke of how much joy I brought back to this place." Your smile grew as you laughed a bit, now finding it silly how you were ever afraid of these two.
"Hmm, well a little duckie told us how sweet you've been to everyone, so-"
"Wait..you understand Disembodied?"
"Sure do. He also told us 'bout your fear."
"...oh."
"But we knew you'd come around eventually." Mascot chuckled. "This ain't the happiest place on earth, but you make it a lil' more bearable for us."
"I'm glad." You breathed a sigh of relief for the first time tonight.
Finally, you've overcome your worst fear, knowing they were on your side, too.

For the hotel au, we’ve got Tommy who is completely set in his decision to not be afraid of Dream, but he still is, he really still is, but he really wants to use Dream for the money— not only bc he wants to be rich but also because making the foundation of his new success built on Dream’s misfortune sounds wonderful to him. Meanwhile, Dream is terrified of Tommy because of how terrible he became around the teen, but he’s resolute to not show it because he knows that, despite Tommy breaking him out, he doesn’t have Dream’s interest at heart at all. While those could lead to some nice angst near the beginning, I’d like to picture Tommy and Dream bumping into each other in the halls and burring up like two terrified cats for a moment before forcing themselves into some stilted, casual, forced friendly conversation. Maybe it becomes a competition between them to see who can be friendlier, who can hide the fear better, but it turns into a game of aggressive friendship chicken until one of them realizes they actually care (someone calls Dream a monster/harassed him and Tommy gets defensive or something like the egg threatening Tommy and Dream coming to his aid) and yeah— funny, emotionally complex, hurt comfort, all the good shit
Tommy does not scream when Dream knocks into him round the corner, because he’s literally fought in wars, and heroes like him do not scream.
Dream also does not scream, because he‘s the big mastermind, the worst villain to grace the server, and because it would ruin his reputation.
Despite neither of them having screamed, both of them make the executive decision to never speak about their surprise bumping into one another.
“Dream,” Tommy says, very solemnly, clearing his throat awkwardly, “it’s.....”
Be nice, he tells himself, you don’t want him to strike.
“.....nice to see you.”
Dream has the nerve to look offended. “It’s nicer to see you,” he says, and it would have been believable if it hadn’t been through gritted teeth. “Bumping into you was.... a pleasure.”
Both of them open their mouths to speak, notice the other about to speak, and promptly shut their mouths again. Tommy half wishes Dream would just attack him or something. It would be far less painful than this shitshow of a conversation.
“...I’m delighted to see you,” he says, forcing cheer into his voice, “my favourite worker.”
“I’m your only worker.” Dream points out, disgruntled, and then he smirks. “And you’re my favourite boss.”
Tommy scowls. Why is this more tense than any other meeting they’d ever had before? He resists the urge to say I don’t like you, and also resists the urge to punch Dream in the face. It would’ve been nothing personal—
Actually, that’s a lie. It absolutely would have been personal.
“I’m glad I’m your favourite boss, Dream. That means a lot to me.” It’s amusing to watch Dream grow more and more uncomfortable, even if it is at the cost of his own comfort. “So, uh, favourite worker, what have you been up to?”
Arching an eyebrow at him, Dream actually smiles. Smiles! Tommy checks to make sure the world isn’t ending. “I’ve just finished all my tasks around the hotel, actually,” Dream informs him, still with that tight tight smile, “I wanted to get them done as soon as I could for you, since you’re.... so generously letting me work here.”
“I am generous, bi—” Tommy begins, before hastily searching for another word when Dream looks triumphant. “—big man. That’s what I meant to say. You are just such a big man, Dream, for doing all that for me.”
He smirks.
“Maybe I should up your pay.”
Dream must be the only person in the entire world who looks horrified at the idea of a higher pay. This little game of forced niceties is incredibly amusing and incredibly frustrating at the same time: both emotions make him want to punch Dream.
“You don’t have to do that. I like working overtime for you.”
“I’ll give you ten diamonds extra.”
“I’ll give you twenty back.”
“I’ll give you thirty as a late Christmas present, prick.”
Dream scowls. “You gave me plenty enough of a late Christmas present, thank you.”
Ah, right, yeah, the prison. Tommy crosses his arms, unimpressed. “You gave me an early Christmas present,” he points out, and from the uneasy guilt that crosses over Dream’s face, he knows they’re both thinking of the exile.
“Touché,” Dream says, “but I can’t accept any gifts from you.” He grins, and Tommy’s urge to punch him only increases. “I’ll be working for weeks to repay you for breaking me out.”
“No you won’t.” Tommy squints at him, deep in thought. “I’ll put you on strike.”
“...You, the boss, will put me, the worker, on strike?”
And there’s so much disbelieving incredulity in Dream’s voice that Tommy can’t help but laugh, covering his mouth as he does so. Dream snickers, looking incredibly amused, and for a moment, things are back to the old times — before prison, before exile, before L’Manburg.
The moment passes, and they both remember themselves, remember the situation. Tommy clears his throat awkwardly; watches Dream shuffle awkward across from him, awkward, both of them, so so awkward.
“Uh— Well.” Tommy uncomfortably salutes, stepping back. “Have a.... good day.”
Dream doesn’t look like he finds this sweet. “Have a better day, Tommy,” he tells him, too friendly, “have the best day of your life.”
Tommy resists the urge to throw something at him as Dream walks away. Prick, he wants to shout, but instead turns away with a pout, hearing Dream’s signature wheeze behind him.
And despite his scowl, Tommy can’t help but grin.

There was a turning point in Tony Stark’s life, that moment when everything changed, when like ashes you scattered through space, when your body disappeared leaving motes of your essence in his hands.
The battle to save humanity was lost the moment the time stone, protected by Doctor Strange, found its way into Thanos’ Gauntlet, leaving only a single chance to deal with a successful end to the final battle. All of you present had led the fight with acuity, but there was little you could do, you knew that as you fell one by one. Your bodies lay in the ruins of the once superpowered planet, waiting for someone with the will to continue fighting death, Tony was the last one standing until Thanos managed to strip him of his own Iron Man suit, stabbing him in the side with the sword Tony had created with his nanonites. Something snapped inside you, causing the relentless pain in your joints to fade and you managed to get up, before the wizard offered him the last stone and Quill unsuccessfully tried to stop him before Thanos vanished.
“Tony,” you whispered awkwardly reaching out to him, wrapping your arms around his body.
The exhaustion was such that you both let yourselves fall and ended up sitting in the ashes of that place. You brought your faces close together, facing each other, letting them rest, feeling your connection again. The bruises showed what you had suffered, open wounds that allowed blood to spread freely over every part of your face. You had just lost too much, it was a break between before and after, but the one thing you couldn’t bear to lose was him. Tony covered his cut with the last of his remaining nanonites, expressing an inward groan of relief, allowing himself to think again about what had happened.
“Why would you do that?” he muttered pleadingly, looking at Strange, who stood a few feet away from you.
“We are in the endgame now.”
That had a meaning, only Vision’s name came to mind, he was the only one who could stop that, the one who possessed the last stone, the mind stone.
Little by little, the reunion of those present was the only thing that eased the pain, you were all there, none of you had suffered worse consequences. The silence of the planet made your skin crawl, warning that this could happen to the earth if the snapping were to happen. You and Tony stumbled to your feet, watching as Peter came to you.
“Something’s happening,” your gaze connected with Mantis who had just said those words.
You had never felt so much fear inside you, until you saw how his body seemed to extrapolate and turn into ashes that disappeared moments later. The mental and bodily blockade came over everyone present, the terror professing itself through their features. Tony’s fingers clung to your right arm, barely moving from where Mantis was before he vanished.
You all looked around anxiously, hoping to find some answer to the event that had just occurred, but you only saw Drax turning to ashes, joint by joint disappearing.
“Quill?” Drax looked at him as little by little his friend’s body parts dissolved.
“Steady, Quill,” with those words Tony increased the pressure of his fingers on your arm, showing his own insecurity.
“Aw, man,” Quill whispered before melting into the wind.
It had happened, no one could have stopped him, Thanos had gotten the five infinity stones and had done the snap. No one present had any idea how it had happened, but it was clear, your worst fears had been realised.
“Tony,” Strange muttered, causing the few of you present to focus your gaze on him. “There was no other way.”
And so it was that another one turned to ashes. But it wasn’t over yet.
“Mr. Stark?” Tony and you noticed that Peter was starting to wobble, your gazes were horrified at him. “I don’t feel so good…”
“You are all right,” Tony’s words sounded confident, but hid the fear he felt inside.
“I don’t know what’s – I don’t know what’s happening. I don’t–” Peter managed to reach you, falling into Tony’s arms, who wrapped his arms around him and pinned him to the ground. “I don’t wanna go, I don’t wanna go, Mr. Stark, please. Please, I don’t wanna go. I don’t wanna go…” his voice was broken with sobs. “I’m sorry.”
You walked away from the scene, holding your hands to your face as you watched your partner’s body disappear, leaving a void in its place. So, in that moment you realised that your terror was based on the loss of your loved ones, of your family that they had become, you were not afraid of disappearing, you were afraid of them disappearing. You staggered a few steps away, unable to come to terms with what you were witnessing at that very moment, although you didn’t have time either, as a faint tingling sensation appeared in your lower extremities.
“Tony…” a faint tone came from within you, but his reaction was immediate.
“No,” he said, standing up.
You’d never seen him look at you like that before, it broke you to contemplate his watery eyes and fully dilated pupils, expressing desperation, being unable to do anything about it to stop it.
“I…” your voice trailed off.
“I got you, I got you,” his voice was broken, but rigid. “I- I promise I’ll fix this, I’ll fix this.”
You could feel his arms around your body with intensity, the warmth of his body reaching yours, but it was only an instant before you stopped feeling everything and disintegrated into ashes in his hands.
The secular emptiness came a few seconds later to Tony, it was the moment when he understood what had happened and what it meant. He belonged to that 50% of the population that had a second chance, but you were that 50% that had turned to dust from one instant to the next. A feeling indescribable to his mind invaded every inch of his body, he was lost, looking around him, hoping that it was all a nightmare from which he could wake up, but it was clear that he was living in real life, because you were not the only one who disappeared. Completely shattered, he walked through the ruins looking for an answer, some sign to hold on to, to tell him what to do, but it never came.
Time became his enemy, what happened made him realise that every step without you is a moment of his life lost. First it was days, then weeks, then months, then years, he spent a long period of time working against the clock, looking for a way to solve what happened, to come back to you. Thousands of ideas were discarded without coming to a definitive conclusion that could counteract the effects of the snap. Tony knew that if he gave up it would mean losing you forever, the life you had imagined so many times, which you never got to because of the countless missions and obstacles along the way. You were almost on the verge of touching it with your fingers once, after all that happened in Sokovia and the signing of agreements you opted to embrace the simple life, but Thanos and the stones came along and shattered your lives.
Tony had converted the cabin he built for you and didn’t have time to show you, into his own lair. He spent the hours locked away, barely sleeping, at least for the first four years, then he declined, until one day, the light seemed to brighten and his old companions appeared, offering him one last chance to get what he was looking for.
“Now, we know what it sounds like…” Scott was leaning against the wooden porch.
“Tony, after everything you’ve seen, is anything really impossible?” Steve looked at him with concern, Tony’s appearance had deteriorated over the years. He looked exhausted and full of unresolved doubts.
“I must say I sometimes miss this foolish optimism,” he grimaced, a grimace resembling a smile. “Quantum fluctuation messes with the Planck Scale, which then triggers the Deutsch Proposition. Can we agree on that?” his tone rose. “In Layman’s terms, it means you’re not coming home.” he paused. “What do you think I’ve been doing for these five years? Do you think I haven’t thought about it already?”
“I came back,” Scott interjected.
“No, you accidentally survived,” Tony cut him off. “It’s a billion to one cosmic fluke. And now you wanna pull off a…. What do you call it?”
“A time heist?” said Scott smiling nonchalantly.
“Yeah, a time heist. Of course,” Tony frowned putting his index finger to his lips. “Why didn’t we think of this before? Oh, because it’s laughable? Because it’s a pipedream?”
“When did you give up?” cut Steve off with rudeness in his tone of voice. “When did you give up? When did you give her up?”
Those were the words that made Tony rise from his seat, tilt his face to one side and force his facial expression.
“You have no idea,” she approached him, pointing her index finger at him. “Where have you been for these five years? Creating an armada of joint therapy groups? Has that helped?”
“Tony…” Natasha interjected, but he barely paid attention.
“While you were out here with your army of crybabies I was out here, day after night trying to find a solution to undo this mess we’ve created,” Tony paused, clenched his jaw and sighed deeply. “So don’t come to me now and say I’ve given it all up for lost.”
It was clear that Steve knew how to set Tony’s mind in motion, he knew where it hurt and how he could reignite their old friendship, it only took him naming you for him when the group left to pick up on every loose end he had created over those last few years.
It was hours of thought processes, of proposing to himself the quantum possibilities that could work, but more importantly the consequences, what could happen and what number of percentages existed to bring you all back. It didn’t take him long to come up with a way out, completely illogical to anyone except those who were as crazy as he was. So it was that after all this time he arrived at the New Avengers facility.
“Why the long face?” the car stopped in front of Steve. “Let me guess, it turned him into a baby.”
“Among other things,” Steve shoved his hands into his trousers pockets and looked straight ahead. “What are you doing here?”
“Not giving her up,” Tony shrugged and got out of the car, introducing himself to Steve, who smiled. “Mind you, I don’t plan to participate in any of your open tears.”
That opened a process of slow reconstruction of the events of the past years. It opened wounds, showed the aftermath, but also reunited all the Avengers who had managed to survive Thanos’ snap. The important thing is that there were enough Pym particles for a round trip for everyone present. But the important thing was to find out where the stones were located depending on the time.
They were fortunate, or rather lucky, that three of the stones met at one point in their own history in New York City, precisely during the Chitauri invasion. That was bound to cause a bitter memory for Tony, but it suddenly changed when he found out what it meant, he would go back there, he would do that mission, and you would be there. You were there when in 2012 the Avengers faced the invasion in New York, it was your first mission, when you were all recruited, when you met for the first time.
“Okay, we have a plan,” Steve reported after he had organised the teams. All eyes were focused on a screen showing the stones and their location. “Six stones, three teams, one shot.”
It was clear that what they were about to face was something completely new, none of them had had time to perhaps acquire the necessary skills to tackle this new job, new mission. It was back to the past, at least they had the advantage of knowing what the future held, of knowing what would be in store for them if they failed to succeed in their tasks.
“Five years ago, we lost.” Steve began a speech to his colleagues positioned in circles on the starting platform. “All of us. We lost friends… We lost family… We lost a part of ourselves,” Steve and Tony’s eyes met. “Today, we have a chance to take it all back.” he paused slightly. “You know your teams, you know your missions. Get the stones, get them back. One round trip each. No mistakes. No do-overs. Most of us are going somewhere we know. But it doesn’t mean we should know what to expect. Be careful. Look out for each other. This is the fight of our lives. And we’re gonna win,” silence filled the room.“Whatever it takes. Good luck.”
After those words, which were encouraging for all the events that were to follow, a space loop embraced each of them, transporting them through time and space, rendering their matter insignificant. Their bodies separated between space cavities transporting them to the right time.
Tony, along with Bruce, Steve and Scott, appeared in an alleyway in New York City in 2012. The smell of dust and molten iron wafted into their nasal cavities. Everything around him was in ruins, the great skyscrapers looked like they were part of a film of the earth’s extinction, it reminded him of some of his worst fears, but it didn’t distract him because he knew how it was going to end.
“We all have our tasks,” Steve informed them, looking around at an overturned car. “Two stones on the outskirts, one in the centre. Keep a low profile,” he shifted his gaze to Tony, who nodded, raising his hands. “Keep an eye on the time.”
Given the orders the group made a point of dispersing, but Steve held Tony’s arm for a second, focusing his gaze on him.
“Are you going to be all right?” His blue eyes showed concern, including his voice as well.
“Of course,” he shrugged nonchalantly. “I’ve been through this once, I can do it again.”
With that said, Tony attached the Iron Man suit to his body and disappeared from the scene. Although his statement exuded self-assurance, he seemed to crumble a little when he reached the top of the Chrysler Building, finding himself in front of Stark Tower. His android vision allowed him to take in the scene taking place on the top floor of his old Tower. There stood the group of Avengers, surrounding Loki, holding him back, he knew that moment as if he had lived it only yesterday, but what almost made his heart stop was to find your figure there. The thrusters of his suit brought him closer to the Tower, accessing the interior through one of the open windows and keeping himself hidden behind some sculptures.
The suit disappeared from his body, becoming Tony Stark again, it was almost unheard of for him, there you were, as if time had never passed. His steps were slow, but he seemed to be completely lost, watching your every move, as if he had no job to do, and his only mission was to watch you. He could not escape the hundreds of memories that came back to him, he even felt guilty about numerous things he had said, done, or not said and done.
“Alright, who gets the wand?” you said holding up Loki’s sceptre.
Your words at that moment came to 2023 Tony with a wide smile, to hear your voice so close to him again and not through any electronic device made a lump form in his throat.
“Are you all right, dude?” Scott cut the moment short.
Tony realised at that very moment that Scott had been on his right shoulder the entire time, a fact that brought all his senses back into focus on the scene he was reliving. The lift opened, ushering in the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, who were actually Hydra, but none of you knew it at the time.
“All right, you’re up, little buddy. There’s our stone,” Tony whispered to Scott.
“All right,” Scott took up position on his partner’s shoulder. “Flick me.”
There Scott’s mission began, and he made his way to the Tony of the past to join him. The scene on the top floor of Stark Tower continued as if nothing strange was going on.
“You got it?” you asked the past Tony, watching as he put the tesseract into the briefcase.
“Yep,” he replied, closing the case and looking at you with a half smile.
“By the way, how about that drink afterwards Miss Y/L/N?”
“Interesting that you can think of a drink Mr. Stark,” you said crossing your arms over your chest.
“Oh, when I buy someone a drink I’m not just thinking about drinking,” he winked at you to which you narrowed your eyes and headed towards the lift with the other companions. “Is that a yes?”
“Well I try,” muttered the Tony of the present to himself, who inevitably couldn’t hold back a smile as he saw with his own eyes that moment and your way of rejecting it, for it was the beginning of too many things. So, as you all disappeared down the lift he too made his way to his new assigned position.
“ Okay, Cap, I got our scepter in the elevator just passing the 80th floor,” he informed Steve over the intercom. “I’ll head down the hall.”
Steve had his mission, to get the sceptre by pretending to be a Hydra agent in front of those who really were and were now guarding the briefcase. Meanwhile, Tony took over one of the security uniforms of the Shield agents, to impersonate one of them and get the briefcase that had the tesseract inside that was now in the possession of the former Tony.
The avengers arrived at the lobby, Scott in thumb size’, that’s what Tony liked to call him, had to get inside the reactor of his victim to produce a small shock, and so everyone would focus their gaze on the old Tony, while the one from 2023 got hold of the briefcase, but things didn’t go as planned.
“I’m looking forward to going to Shawarma Palace,” Tony was standing next to you, “We could take it as our first date, what do you think?”
“Interesting,” you said, barely looking at him but with a slight smile on your face, “It’ll be great to say that genius billionaire Tony Stark asked me out for shawarma on our first date.”
“You forgot about philanthropist and Playboy,” he added, raising an eyebrow.“So that’s… Oh, Mr. Secretary!”
The conversation with Shield’s superior began, it was the ideal time where Scott had the opportunity to carry out his mission, for the tesseract was disappearing at that moment, and it would be tricky to access it again.
“All right, move it, Stuart Little. Things are getting dicey up here. Let’s go,” Tony informed Scott over the intercom.
It looked like everything was going down the drain, as Scott was in trouble for giving him a cardiac arrhythmia, however, everyone was stunned when at that moment Tony’s body stopped, and then began to convulse and fall to the ground. Your expression suddenly changed, as did the others.
“Tony?” you asked, dropping down beside Tony, worried about what was happening to him.
“Medics!” exclaimed the Tony Stark of 2023, taking in the scene. “You guys, some help!”
“Talk to me,” you said grabbing his face, which was completely flushed since he couldn’t breathe.
“Aw, she’s worried,” the present Tony muttered to himself.
“Is that the machine in your chest?” Thor, who was standing next to him, asked.
Meanwhile Scott, who had emerged from the reactor in the chest of the Tony of the past, pushed hard on the briefcase so that the Tony of the future could take it in his hands and go in search of a way out, but in that instant the Hulk suddenly appeared knocking Tony down, opening the briefcase, making the tesseract fly out and land at the feet of Loki who took it in his hands and disappeared.
“Come on Tony breathe,” you said looking at Thor hoping he would do something about it.
“I’ll try something, but I don’t know if it will work,” Thor brought his hammer to Tony’s chest, specifically the reactor and offered him a small shock, bringing the air back into his lungs. “Yes!”
“Whew, that worked a treat,” he said between gasps, looking at both of us. “Dude, that was crazy,” he thought. “The case.”
“Uhh, the case is…” Thor looked around.
“Where is the case?” you asked getting up trying to intercept him with your gaze.
“Where is Loki?” exclaimed Thor. “Loki!”
Meanwhile, ten meters away from the scene, the Tony from the future was completely knocked to the ground, after the Hulk knocked him down.
“Oh, we blew it,” Tony said without barely getting up, listening to all the conversation you had a few feet away.
The Tony of the future got up and opted to walk through the door leading to the stairs before anyone noticed him, for due to the Hulk’s untimely and shocking appearance, there were hardly any people left in the hall, apart from the Avengers and the Shield agents, of which he was undercover. However, as he was walking down a long corridor on the third floor, something stopped him.
“Excuse me agent,” your voice appeared as if it were an apparition behind him, causing him to stop his steps. “I must ask you to stay in the hall, we need to question everyone present in case we find evidence of what just happened.”
This was completely new, Tony hadn’t experienced it, he didn’t know what was going to happen or how he would best act on this occasion, but he knew that if he turned around you would most likely recognise him, as the black helmet and goggles barely covered his face, leaving the lower part of his face uncovered. At the same time, you kept a SIG Sauer P226 in your hand just at hip level, waiting at all times to watch the reactions of the man in front of you.
“Of course,” said Tony, changing his tone of voice slightly, making it deeper than usual, but still he just kept his position, his back to you.
“Could you turn around and come with me?” you asked with a frown, brushing your fingers over the gun and feeling a bad feeling inside you, for there was something that didn’t sit right with you.
Tony took a deep breath and lowered his face, there were a thousand ideas running through his mind right now, he didn’t know which one was worse than the last, so he connected several pieces and took one that would produce some personal gain, for worse than they were already, perhaps, things couldn’t get any worse.
“Are you sure?”
Slowly Tony’s body turned 180 degrees to face you. His features were obvious, his brown eyes accompanied by honey-coloured flecks, his beard so neatly trimmed, and those full lips, all 100% Tony Stark. But it was obvious to you that this was a trap, Loki had disappeared and you were aware of his every ability to deceive, after all he was the master of mischief. You didn’t stop for a moment to take the gun in your hands and point it firmly in his face, you had a clean shot.
“Loki…” you whispered frowning and squinting one eye to improve your aim.
“Not exactly,” Tony held up his hands retreating back a step, but showing no nervousness at all at the situation. “God, how I resent you mistaking me for him.”
It was at that precise moment, when he had you two metres away pointing a gun to his head, that he realised how long those five years had been, five years without being able to look at your face, without hearing your voice, without your caresses, without your kisses… for which he would die in those moments of your gunshot. He found himself with his hands raised, his body totally paralysed and his lips half-open, in love with you. You were not really the woman he had left behind, it was 2012 and many of your features were changed, but it was you.
“Where is the tesseract?” you asked, bringing him back to his senses. “What have you done with it?”
“That’s what I want to know,” he replied casually and slowly lowered his hands, knowing that bullet wasn’t going to be fired at him.
Tony’s mind worked fast, he was quick in his thoughts and in his actions, although sometimes that could get him into serious trouble because of the consequences of his actions, so he had no idea what he was doing at that moment, because his whole body was begging him to have a meeting with you and so he did. Now it was time to figure out where to go with the situation, but Tony was not a great planner, he flowed with time.
“By the way, did you get rid of that damn FBI agent yet? What was his name?” Tony knew how to test you to make you realise he wasn’t Loki. “Ah yes, Agent Chatter, god, how I hated him. I would have loved to see you spill champagne all over his scalp.”
“How do you… How do you know that?” your voice sounded gruff, but quizzical at the same time, even though you had no intention of conversing with him you were curious as to how the hell he had found out that information, as Tony was the only one who called Matthew ‘Agent Chatter’.
“You told me,” he said taking a step towards you, closing the distance, causing you to back away. “I told you, I’m not Loki.”
“I’ve never told anyone what happened with Matthew,” your breath hitched as you realised you didn’t understand what was going on.
“Well, you haven’t really told me yet,” he narrowed his eyes and cocked his head to one side.
You remained thoughtful for a couple of seconds. “I know exactly what you’re doing,” you tightened your grip on the gun, your hands beginning to sweat. “Your mind games aren’t going to work on me.
The moment was complex to explain, Tony had hundreds of possibilities to offer you in that moment and for you to discover that it wasn’t Loki in front of you, he knew how he could deal with the situation, but he wanted you to be the one to figure it out for yourself. He was playing with fire, he knew better than anyone how space-time worked, but he had an ace up his sleeve, an ace that Steve was carrying at that moment and he would use it later.
Tony slowly brought his hands to his face, causing you to fix your aim again with his moments, you feared what he might do next, for anything was to be expected with Loki, but Tony merely removed his helmet and goggles, dropping them to the ground exposing his full face to you.
A strange feeling came over your body, it was obviously a familiar face, you had spent numerous hours with Tony Stark in the previous weeks, but it wasn’t really your Tony standing before you. The features looked aged, more wrinkles were in the key parts of his face, grey hair was showing through his hair and also in his beard. Concentrating on analysing each of his features made you soften your grip on the gun.
"It’s me,” he murmured, making another attempt to move towards you, and succeeded, bringing the barrel of the gun down on his chest, clattering against his reactor. He gingerly reached out his arm, reaching up to your face and brushing aside a lock of your hair. “I can’t explain too much, but…”
“Tony?” a new voice joined your encounter, snapping you out of your abstraction. “What are you doing?”
Again you put distance between you and Tony, wary of what had just happened and rather guilty for letting yourself be bamboozled by Loki. You looked at the Captain who was coming from the far end of that long hallway and was just now standing metres away from you.
“It’s not Tony, Captain, it’s one of Loki’s tricks,” you explained without looking away from Tony who was looking at Steve a little guilty about the situation that had been created. “Captain, warn the others, inform them that we have Loki on the third floor of the west wing.”
“I. Am. Not. Loki,” Tony qualified each of his words somewhat irritated that you still believed it was Loki. “Can you tell her Cap?”
“Tony, what the hell are you doing?” Steve used a gruff tone, now the one who sounded irritated was him, as he was unaware of where Tony’s plans were headed.
“Shit,” Tony whispered turning his gaze towards him.“When they put that serum in your veins they offered you the gift of inopportunity, didn’t they?”
For you everything was much more confusing, your quick analysis of the situation and the two figures that stood before you had many gaps of information. You knew those guys, you had spent more hours of your life with them than with your family, you had studied them, you had analysed them and really that Steve and Tony that were before you were not the same guys, and there was only one Loki, both could not be Loki, at least within your logic, although with Loki anything goes. But what you realised was that the captain was holding the sceptre, why was the captain holding the sceptre right now?
“I’m sorry Tony, but we have to go,” he repeated firmly, which brought you back to reality.
“I don’t think either of you are going anywhere,” you quickly pulled a new pistol from the back of your suit, two guns for two people standing in front of you.
That elicited a sigh of disgust from Steve, who raised his hands, raising the sceptre in one hand and the shield in the other, halting his stride in his tracks.
“What was your bright idea Tony?” he asked seriously.
“I don’t know Cap, you know I like to improvise,” he shrugged his shoulders without taking his eyes off you, raising his hands and giving you a wide and warm smile, which didn’t affect you at all.
“Great, so improvise if you don’t want me to,” Steve sentenced him without moving from his position.
“She’s mine,” Tony slowly brought his hand to his chest, where he offered himself a couple of taps and the armour ran over every millimetre of him, covering his limbs.
Was Loki really capable of that? Confusion engulfed you, it had all your senses alert, your mind asking a hundred questions you couldn’t answer. But if it’s not any of them Loki who are they?
Tony looked at Steve’s sceptre, that was the only key way out he could think of, but since he had laid all his cards on the table, he wasn’t going to leave without doing one thing first, so he started to close the gap with you.
“If you take one more step…” you began to say, backing down the long corridor of Stark Tower.
“Honey, surely my 2012 self would punch me if he knew his 2023 self was going to do what I’m about to do,” he started to approach you which made you stand on guard, “since I’d take all the credit away from him, because he won’t do it for another two years or so, but…” between the words and his approach you blocked and pulled the trigger of the gun pointed at him, causing the bullet to hit and fall to the ground. “Hey! That hurt, well, not physically, but you just hurt my feelings.”
“Don’t come any closer…” you muttered, aiming both pistols at Iron Man’s armour.
Your gesture was profoundly in vain, as your footsteps stopped and Tony was close enough to grab the pistols tightly and wrestle them out of your hands, throwing them into the distance, unable for you to avoid. At that exact moment, Iron Man’s suit disappeared, allowing you to look at him again, much closer than the first time. You didn’t know if it was a mind game, but you could almost feel a strange connection between your gazes, the way he looked at you as if he wanted to tell you something, as if he was hiding a long way in them.
“God, I’d almost forgotten what your face…” Tony’s words were inconclusive, but he voiced a smile at the end of them.
What? you wanted to ask out loud, it was so strange, so incomprehensible to you that you were almost terrified at that moment. His eyes looked at you as if they had known you all your life, as if you had lived too many moments together to remember them all, and you just wanted to ask him about it, but you did not. Tony’s arm was around your waist before you could even react and he pulled you close to him, his lips firmly against yours. For Tony it was one of the best sensations of his life, every limb seemed to fill with energy, his skin bristled, he placed his other hand on your back preventing you from fleeing if you had any intention of doing so. He felt your body scent envelop him again after so many years away from you and it brought a lump to his throat. He didn’t want to separate from you, he couldn’t separate from you, he was terrified inside, he could hardly move his lips, for he feared you would run away if he did.
On your part it was something completely unexpected that you didn’t know how to carry out, it seemed that your common sense was lost somewhere, as if it had extrapolated from your body and didn’t act. Your eyes remained open for the first few seconds, observing the nothingness, but when you felt his second hand on your back to bring you closer to him, they closed very slowly, as if you expected to receive an answer from this act to your numerous doubts. You held still, with no intention of separating yourself from him. You wouldn’t deny that you hadn’t thought about what it would be like to kiss Tony Stark, but that wasn’t the Tony Stark you knew.
It was time that decided when to end it, Tony’s face was the one that put distance, but his minus was still glued to your back. He leaned his forehead against yours, exposing his ragged breath against your face.
“Who are you?” you whispered against his lips without opening your eyes yet.
Tony pulled back a few inches, opened his eyes and brought his hands to your face analysing every facial feature before him, running his thumb over your cheeks and lips.
“I promise I’ll fix it,” he whispered feeling himself. “It’ll be all right.”
“What…  What will be alright?” your hesitation felt present in your words, it was incomprehensible what he was saying.
“I…” began Tony.
As if the breath stopped in your lungs, you took one last exhale before everything went dark and you hips surrendered in Tony’s arms. The tip of the sceptre had grazed your body causing you to enter a deep sleep from which when you awoke you would possibly think that everything you had experienced was a dream, or that it was really Loki who was playing with you.
“It would have been rather more gentlemanly of you to let me do it,” Tony looked at Steve spitefully as he held your body in his hands.
A fearful sigh escaped Tony’s lips as he carefully laid your body on the floor and ran his palm over his face, facing a voice that told him he couldn’t leave.
“Tony, we can’t leave any loose ends,” Steve whispered as he watched Tony continue to hold you in his arms. “I know how much you want to get back to her. So the sooner we get this over with, the sooner you’ll be reunited,” Steve rested his hand on Tony’s shoulder. “By the way, where do you have the tesseract?”
“Interesting question…”
