To anyone who thinks Bruce has a clear and consistent favourite child I raise you this: it is infinitely funnier for Bruce to have a complicated and elaborate “ranking” system of his kids that only he’s privy to.
Picture this: Batman, dosed with truth serum, gets asked as a gag from one of the goons holding him captive who his favourite bat-vigilante is and instead of giving a straight answer, he launches into this whole explanation about the ranking system and who’s in the current lead, who’s hanging behind, etc. At some point (this is a mystery to everyone involved) a whiteboard appears and he starts explaining his system like he’s a football coach before an important match. Out of nowhere he starts pulling out little cardboard cutouts of his kids and pins them to the board. At some point the red string comes out.
Jason hasn’t killed someone in a week? Automatically promoted to favourite. Tim hasn’t caused an international incident in the past month? Puts him a few points ahead that keep decreasing the longer he refuses real sleep (20 minute power naps don’t count Tim! Says powernap inventor Bruce Wayne). Cass gave him a hug this morning and wished him a good day? Favourite until he gets a call from dick telling him (without shouting!!!!) that he’ll be there for this week’s Sunday dinner. Duke accidentally scratches the Batmobile? Demoted to the “in trouble” zone (which, honestly, that’s where his kids spend most of the time in😭). Damian did not attempt to free all the animals in the zoo they visited? Favourite. Until Bruce found out he was just trying to conceal the cat hidden in his room that Bruce explicitly forbade him from keeping.
Dick arrives at the family dinner with a busted shoulder and a bruise the size of Texas on his face? Gets demoted so far down that even azraeil scores higher than him. He’s in the “in trouble” zone for a constant month after that. Oh one of them survived an almost death? Favourite for at least the next week. At least. Multiple people survive an almost death? EVERYONES the favourite. The least favourite is the growing grey hairs on his head.
The end of day results are decided by who bothers to wish him goodnight and if all of them have fucked up in some way the past week then Jon (Kent) becomes the automatic favourite until someone cracks a joke that Bruce actually finds funny.
The favourite child changes daily, hourly even, and his kids are aware this system exists and keep trying to crack the code but he always Knows and just smirks smugly.

There used to be so many movies with inventors. Now listen. Listen. I know we still get movies where engineers or scientists or programmers invent things. I’m talking about a character who describes their entire job as “inventor” fills their house with dozens and dozens of wacky gadgets and usually has a Rube Goldberg breakfast machine or an automatic mailbox. Doc Brown. The dad from Honey I Shrunk the Kids. The dad from Gremlins. The dad from Beauty and the Beast. This was a whole character archetype that — as far as I can tell — has totally gone extinct. Why did we stop making movies about inventors

Should Billionaires Exist?
Do billionaires have a right to exist?
America has driven more than 650 species to extinction. And it should do the same to billionaires.
Why? Because there are only five ways to become one, and they’re all bad for free-market capitalism:
1. Exploit a Monopoly.
Jamie Dimon is worth $2 billion today… but not because he succeeded in the “free market.” In 2008, the government bailed out his bank JPMorgan and other giant Wall Street banks, keeping them off the endangered species list.
This government “insurance policy” scored these struggling Mom-and-Pop megabanks an estimated $34 billion a year.
But doesn’t entrepreneur Jeff Bezos deserve his billions for building Amazon?
No, because he also built a monopoly that’s been charged by the federal government and 17 states for inflating prices, overcharging sellers, and stifling competition like a predator in the wild.
With better anti-monopoly enforcement, Bezos would be worth closer to his fair-market value.
2. Exploit Inside Information
Steven A. Cohen, worth roughly $20 billion headed a hedge fund charged by the Justice Department with insider trading “on a scale without known precedent.” Another innovator!
Taming insider trading would level the investing field between the C Suite and Main Street.
3.  Buy Off Politicians
That’s a great way to become a billionaire! The Koch family and Koch Industries saved roughly $1 billion a year from the Trump tax cut they and allies spent $20 million lobbying for. What a return on investment!
If we had tougher lobbying laws, political corruption would go extinct.
4. Defraud Investors
Adam Neumann conned investors out of hundreds of millions for WeWork, an office-sharing startup. WeWork didn’t make a nickel of profit, but Neumann still funded his extravagant lifestyle, including a $60 million private jet. Not exactly “sharing.”
Elizabeth Holmes was convicted of fraud for her blood-testing company, Theranos. So was Sam Bankman-Fried of crypto-exchange FTX. Remember a supposed billionaire named Donald Trump? He was also found to have committed fraud.
Presumably, if we had tougher anti-fraud laws, more would be caught and there’d be fewer billionaires to preserve.
5. Get Money From Rich Relatives
About 60 percent of all wealth in America today is inherited.
That’s because loopholes in U.S. tax law —lobbied for by the wealthy — allow rich families to avoid taxes on assets they inherit. And the estate tax has been so defanged that fewer than 0.2 percent of estates have paid it in recent years.
Tax reform would disrupt the circle of life for the rich, stopping them from automatically becoming billionaires at their birth, or someone else’s death.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I’m not arguing against big rewards for entrepreneurs and inventors. But do today’s entrepreneurs really need billions of dollars? Couldn’t they survive on a measly hundred million?
Because they’re now using those billions to erode American institutions. They spent fortunes bringing Supreme Court justices with them into the wild. They treated news organizations and social media platforms like prey, and they turned their relationships with politicians into patronage troughs.
This has created an America where fewer than ever can become millionaires (or even thousandaires) through hard work and actual innovation.
If capitalism were working properly, billionaires would have gone the way of the dodo.

As I'm doing a rags-to-riches challenge atm for gen 3 of my Random Legacy, I've been looking into mods that make the off-grid experience in TS3 a bit more realistic
I hope this list will be especially useful as a resource for anyone doing rags-to-riches, runaway teen, midnight sun, zombie apocalypse or any other similar challenge which requires your sim to live off the land - I personally love this gameplay style, and I hope this is useful for others too!
As always, if anyone has any suggestions of mods / CC I should add to this list, let me know and I'll update it - it's definitely not exhaustive by any means :)
Mods:
Moar Interactions by Buzzler on MTS
I recommend this mod regardless of if you're playing off-the-grid because it adds a bunch of great stuff, but the interactions particularly useful for this gameplay style are 'work overtime' at the small businesses around town, allowing your sim to earn a bit of extra cash without being officially employed, and also the ability to 'cancel the carpool / schoolbus' (because a carpool wouldn't agree to pick your sim up from their camp in the middle of the woods)
Nraas Careers via Nraas Industries
This mod allows your teen / child sims to be enrolled in home-schooling, which makes much more sense if they're living as a runaway - tutorial for how to assign them to homeschooling is here - I also reccomend using storyprogression to disable curfew for your teen sims if you're playing them as a runaway (tutorial here)
Nraas GoHere via Nraas Industries
This might be a bit random - but this mod is an abseloute lifesaver if your sim doesn't have a car, you can force them to walk long distances without automatically getting in a taxi (best used when combined with the taxi charge mod - linked below)
One with Nature by Spherefish on MTS
This mod is basically the GOAT for off-grid gameplay - it adds the ability to sleep on the floor, pee on the floor, have sponge baths in the ocean / swimming pool and also to relax / daydream on the ground
Pay for the gym by ani on MTS
Some people won't like this one as it definitely makes runaway / rags-to-riches challenges a lot more challenging, but in combination with the other mods I think it makes sense to charge for hot showers when your sim could just go for a wild swim instead!
No Fridge Shopping via Nraas Industries
No more magically buying ingredients from the fridge - your off-grid sim has to grow the produce themselves or go to the supermarket if they want to cook!
Taxi Charge & Subway Charge on MTS
Challenges such as runaway teen require you to buy a flamingo every time your sim takes a taxi - this removes that requirement as your sim gets automatically charged 6-20 simoleons depending on their age - Subway Charge does the same for your Bridgeport sims
No Stretch Children Can Series by Kapaer on MTS
I always recommend this mod for general gameplay anyway, but it's especially useful if you've got kids in your household for offgrid living, they're no longer completely useless!
Attend University online by TwinSimming on Tumblr
Similar to the homeschooling option from nraas careers (linked above), this allows your sim to attend university entirely from the comfort of their computer - they do still have to pay for the degree though!
Off-Grid Inventing Overhaul by SimState on MTS
Allows your inventor sims to create household objects through the inventing table - so you don't have to save up to buy them if your sim is crafty enough!
Ani's Various Mods
I particularly recommend the 'mountain bike' mod which allows your sims to ride a bike around without roads, as well as the 'ration box' mod & 'consignment'
Sleep on Sofa / Bench by Sammonsim on MTS
Scroll down to post #22 in this thread to get the link to this mod - it basically allows your sims to get a full nights sleep on a sofa / bench without having to queue up 50 'nap' interactions
Functional Wells / Off Grid Plumbing & Functional Washboard
This makes your sim have to collect buckets of water from a well if they want to shower / wash the dishes etc. The functional washboard allows them to wash their clothes in a less mechanical way, I reccomend using Danjaley's functional well cc in addition to the plumbing mod as it adds a few more options for your style of lot
Custom Content:
Pallet bed set on tumblr
BionicZombie's Basement Treasures TS4 conversio
Travel Items by Everlasting Garden
Working Futon on MTS
Hollow bee tree on MTS
Camping time set by Toreno
Around The Sims 3:
Camping Part 1 / Part 2 / Part 3 / Part 4 / Part 5 Eco Living TS4 Conversion Into The Wild Trashes & Bonfires / Part 2 Stray Life City / Stray Life Woods Beer Keg / Wine Barrel Squat Bedroom
Twinsimming:
Into the wild set TS4 Werewolves conversion
Simzoo:
All-In-One Bush / Toilet bush Rock / Bucket sink Log Bench / Bench 2 / Rock Stool / Wood Box Cushioned Seat Tree Dresser Haystack bed / Log bed Single table-style counter Raft pool lounger Firepit set
TheSimsResource:
Disclaimer: I do not endorse or condone using this website, unfortunately a lot of great CC for TS3 is locked behind it due to the age of the game - so I've linked some of it here, but I recommend using a reliable adblocker (personally I use Ublock Origin for firefox) before visiting it / downloading anything
Hayloft bunk-bed More Mailboxes (These are a lot less space-consuming than the default mailbox, and I like to either attach them to trees or just hide them in bushes on my off-grid lots lol) The homeless pet set Trapper Bedroom All of cyclonesue's stuff for urban environments

"The Writing Boy"
Tumblr media
In 1774 AD, during the reign of Louis XVI (1754-1793), Swiss watchmaker Pierre Jacques Dro (1721-1790) unveiled a remarkable engineering feat that would go down in history as the world's first android or programmed automaton.
Known as "The Writing Boy," this creation appeared at first glance to be a simple wooden doll with a porcelain head, barefoot, and holding a goose feather.
But hidden within this seemingly ordinary toy was a technological marvel, a writing mechanism powered by 6,000 intricate moving parts, making it the first automatic calligrapher.
"The Writing Boy" was a groundbreaking achievement, as it was capable of writing complex sentences, such as "My inventor is Jacques Dro."
The automaton was a product of 20 months of meticulous work by Pierre Jacques Dro, and its debut in Paris stunned the court of King Louis XVI.
The android's ability to perform such an intricate task showcased the high level of craftsmanship and innovation of the time.
This astonishing creation marked a significant milestone in the history of robotics and engineering.
Not only was it the world’s first programmed android, but it also demonstrated the potential of machines to replicate human actions.
"The Writing Boy" paved the way for future advancements in automation, solidifying Pierre Jacques Dro’s legacy as a pioneer in the field of robotics.

Alexander Miles, a prominent African-American inventor of the late 19th century, is best known for his groundbreaking invention - elevator doors that could open and close automatically. This invention transformed the safety of elevator rides, with automatic doors now considered a standard feature in modern elevators.
Born on May 18, 1838, in Circleville, Ohio, Alexander Miles was the son of Michael and Mary Miles. As a young adult, he relocated to Waukesha, Wisconsin, where he worked as a barber throughout the 1860s. It was while living in Winona, Minnesota, in 1870, that he met Candace J. Dunlap from New York City, who later became his wife. After the birth of their daughter, Grace, the family moved to Duluth, Minnesota.
In Duluth, Miles enjoyed significant success as a barber, setting up a barbershop in the four-story St. Louis Hotel. He smartly invested his savings into purchasing a real estate office. His business acumen led to him becoming the first Black member of the Duluth Chamber of Commerce. In 1884, Miles constructed a three-story brownstone building in an area that later came to be known as the “Miles Block.”
While taking elevator rides in his buildings, Miles noticed the dangerous risks associated with manually operated elevator shaft doors being left open. Determined to solve this problem, he invented a mechanism that allowed elevator shaft doors to operate at the correct times. The mechanism, which involved a flexible belt attached to the elevator cage touching drums positioned along the elevator shaft, automated the elevator doors through a series of levers and rollers. On October 11, 1887, Alexander Miles was granted a patent for his life-saving invention (U.S. Patent 371,207).
In 1899, Miles and his family moved to Chicago, Illinois, where he started The United Brotherhood, a life insurance company for Black customers who were denied coverage by White-owned firms. Eventually, Miles relocated to Seattle, Washington. Prior to his death on May 7, 1918, he was considered the wealthiest Black person in the Pacific Northwest area, largely due to the income from his invention. In recognition of his contributions, Alexander Miles was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 2007.

Am I the only one who really loves Jay's character after what happened to him at the Administration? Like, I never minded him before, but at the same time nothing about him really spoke to me. I don't know if it's because he was always just the "goofball" in the show or what. Maybe it's because even though Ninjago did give him a backstory and funny personality, they never really dove deeper into his character. I mean, all that we really knew about him was his silly personality, that he has loved Nya since the start, his love for video games, and the fact that he's the Lightning Ninja. Everything else was briefly explained and forgotten later on throughout the show (inventor, the fact he's adopted, etc). And while I know that we don't have to repeat these things, it just seemed like the show forgot to add sources of this information throughout the rest of the seasons after Skybound. I could be remembering wrong --- forgive me if I am --- but I don't know... I just was never invested in his character, I guess. Now, however, as I watch him after Dragons Rising, I have really begun to like him, and I am enjoying his character more from past seasons after watching these new seasons. I don't know, maybe I'm the weird one, and maybe I just like it when favorite characters go "evil" and become the villains (true), but either way, I am enjoying his character more now from past seasons as I watch the show, and I'm really hoping Ninjago keeps writing him in this way and doesn't automatically make him the "hero" again once he remembers his past. I'm really hoping they keep the idea going for a while until he eventually figures and remembers everything out in a respectable time frame. Anyways, just a thought. Wanted to get it out of my brain lol. Evil Jay is definitely something I've been enjoying thoroughly haha

Punarvasu & Swati: Cosmogony, Reality & Consciousness
Punarvasu and Swati are deeply intertwined nakshatras with very similar patterns and themes. Punarvasu's deity Goddess Aditi embodies infinity and vast primordial space. She is boundless and limitless. Swati's deity Vayu is the ruler of air & wind and connected to the life force or prana (or qi).
Both these nakshatras connect to space, infinity, abundance and are known for being wealth giving nakshatras.
Ruth Handler, the inventor of Barbie had Swati Sun & Mercury along with Ketu in Punarvasu
Margot Robbie who played Barbie has Swati Moon & Punarvasu Rising
I had briefly mentioned this in my Tomie post but Swati & Punarvasu's themes are manifest in Barbie because Barbie is not a person, she is a type of doll, and she can be anyone or anything. Barbie is a whole universe into herself, this is the cosmic abundance and infinitude of Swati & Punarvasu.
Tumblr media
My Tomie post also talks about how Tomie is a Punarvasu so do check that out!!
I have always thought that Punarvasu & Swati are related to time travel which makes sense provided the cosmic infinitude embodied in these naks.
Tumblr media
Predestination, a time- travel movie starring Ethan Hawke who is Swati Sun (do watch it, its really good))
Tumblr media
Bruce Willis has been in several time-travel movies, including 12 Monkeys & Looper. He has Jupiter in Punarvasu atmakaraka
Tumblr media
The 1960 movie The Time Machine stars Rod Taylor who has Ketu in Swati.
Tumblr media
The Terminator movies starring Arnold Schwarzenegger- Punarvasu stellium (mercury, venus & rising). Arnold like many Punarvasus have been in many sci-fi movies that concern the nature of reality, in fact his own autobiography is called Total Recall (he's been in a movie of the same name and its about what is real and what isn't- peak Punarvasu behaviour I must say)
Tumblr media
Planet of the Apes stars Charlton Heston who has Punarvasu Moon, Swati Rising
Tumblr media
Frequency stars Dennis Quaid who has Punarvasu Moon & Ketu
Tumblr media
The Matrix/ The Lake House/Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure are all time travel movies starring Keanu Reeves who is Punarvasu Moon.
Its interesting to me that many Punarvasus have often spoken about "creating your reality".
Tumblr media
Octavia Butler, the writer has Punarvasu Rising (the themes of this nak is vv apparent in her work but I'll perhaps discuss that in a future post) and this^^ is a page from her journal that she wrote in the 1970s wayyy before manifestation was a "thing".
Butler grew up very poor in an era of racial segregation and suffered from dyslexia. She overcame great odds to become one of the best-selling sci-fi novelists of all time.
Tumblr media
Miranda Kerr- Punarvasu Moon often talks about the power of our thoughts and has referenced writers like David R Hawkins (who talks about the nature of consciousness) a lot. Here's a quote from her book.
“Start each day by saying to yourself: ‘How amazing it is to be alive! What a wondrous feeling I have inside! I am awake, healthy and full of joy!’ Visualise every cell in your body being filled with vitality, health and love.”- Treasure Yourself
Miranda grew up quite lower middle class on a farm in rural Australia and then went on to become one of the best known models in the world and is now married to a billionaire.
Tumblr media
Arnold Schwarzenegger- Punarvasu Rising (and stellium)
If you've read his autobiography or watched his Netflix documentary yk that he talks constantly about the power of the mind, having focus etc
He grew up in a small town in Austria (after WW2) with an abusive father and also suffered from dyslexia. He then went on to become one of the biggest movie stars of all time and was the Governor of California???
Tumblr media
Ariana Grande- Mercury in Punarvasu sings about manifestation and law of attraction quite a lot. She was a side character on a Nickelodeon show and 10yrs later she's one of the biggest pop- stars.
Tumblr media
Nikola Tesla, Punarvasu Sun & Venus
Tesla discovered automatic current transmission & generation technology which is responsible for modern day wireless connections. He's also super Punarvasu core as a person, he had eidetic memory, apparently did not sleep more than 2 hours per night, was interested in Vedic cosmology & philosophy (he used terms like akasha & prana to describe the relationship between matter & energy). I find this quote by him very interesting, "To me, the universe is simply a great machine which never came into being and never will end". I personally don't believe in the Big Bang theory and I'm inclined to believe that the universe has always existed instead of having come into existence at one point, which imo, is a very anthropocentric idea. Tesla's quote is a reflection of the boundless nature of Aditi, who is the cosmic mother, she embodies creation.
fun fact: Elon Musk who named Tesla after him is Punarvasu Mercury & Rising.
Interestingly enough, several decades before the Big Bang theory gained mainstream acceptance and was studied by scientists, Edgar Allan Poe published a lecture/essay on the matter titled Eureka: A Prose Poem in 1848 (!!!!). He had Swati Rising
Can you believe that he, a man with zero scientific background essentially came up with ideas that would serve as the basis of 20th century scientific discoveries & theories??? That too in 1848???
Analysis of Eureka's scientific content shows congruities with modern cosmology, stemming from Poe's assumption of an evolving Universe and it also contains ideas about the unity of space and time, the mathematical equality of matter and energy, the velocity of light and a rudimentary concept of relativity, black holes (including one at the centre of our Milky Way), a "pulsating" universe that renews itself eternally, and other universes in other dimensions with different laws of nature.
A writer & poet who dropped out of college came up with all that in 1848. Swatis & Punarvasus have the ability to understand complex concepts, systems, and processes intuitively. This is why they are so good at analysis, strategy and planning. They have a futuristic vision because its easy for them to see how current events will affect other things and manifest in the future. Those who don't have these placements will struggle to understand what this is like because most of us aren't endowed with this sort of ability to see the trees and the forest all at once.
Interestingly, the scientist Georges Lemaître who first proposed the "Big Bang theory" of the origin of the universe, calling it the "hypothesis of the primaeval atom", and later calling it "the beginning of the world" is a Punarvasu Sun.
Tumblr media
Leonardo da Vinci is known for his foresight and is considered a visionary. He, in the 15th & 16th centuries, pondered upon the possibilities of human flight and left behind diagrams and models of the helicopter, the parachute, the machine gun, the humanoid robot, the revolving bridge, the ideal city and much more. He had Ketu in Punarvasu.
Tumblr media
Carl Jung created some of the best-known psychological concepts, including synchronicity, archetypal phenomena, the collective unconscious, the psychological complex, and extraversion and introversion. He had Punarvasu Mercury & Venus and it explains why there was such a heavy emphasis on "darkness" vs "light" in his work (Punarvasu being "the return of the light").
He is the father of Analytical Psychology which seeks to "analyze the relationship between a person's individual consciousness and the deeper common structures which underlie them. Personal experiences both activate archetypes in the mind and give them meaning and substance for the individual. At the same time, archetypes covertly organize human experience and memory, their powerful effects becoming apparent only indirectly and in retrospect. Understanding the power of the collective unconscious can help an individual to navigate through life."
In fact, vedic astrology (Jung did use astrology as well btw) serves as a very interesting way to explore the collective unconscious and the many archetypes that are manifest in individuals possessing them.
I will make a post in the future comparing Freud & Jung and how their different astrological placements contributed to their similar but differing views.
George Orwell, who was a fierce critic of totalitarianism had Swati Rising, if you read his works, you can see how he's able to analyse the effects and consequences of the same, especially 1984 which was sooo ahead of its time in the sense that much of what was written in the book is eerily similar to what's going on in the world right now.  The novel examines the role of truth and facts within societies and how they can be manipulated.
Swatis & Punarvasus are super Futuristic, as individuals or visionaries as well as in their art & work. They dominate in the surreal/scifi genre.
Tumblr media
Robin Williams- Swati Rising stars as an android in Bicentennial Man which is a movie about a robot who learns how to be human. Transcending humanity is a big theme in the works of Swati natives.
On this note, I have noticed several Swati & Punarvasu natives star in movies featuring/about cloning 👀 This does not surprise me as I had already mentioned this in my Tomie post but it is fascinating how Swati & Punarvasu's ability to be many many versions of themselves is made manifest in this trope of clones.
I have to mention how both Rahu & Jupiter have a very boundless, obese energy that is hard to contain. This can be manifest negatively because its very easy for energy of this proportion to be misused and misdirected but when they're harnessed positively, these individuals are capable of envisioning change that have few/no other parallels.
Tumblr media
Moon (2009) is a movie that features the main character and his clones. Sam Rockwell, Swati Sun plays the main character.
Tumblr media
Tom Cruise, Punarvasu moon (acc to Claire Nakti) stars in Oblivion and plays a clone of himself. One version of him is good, his "clone" is evil. The battle between good & evil within oneself is a VERY Jupiterian trope (and I shall make a post solely about that in the near future).
Tumblr media
Multiplicity is a 90s scifi-comedy about a guy who clones himself so that he can do all the things he wants to do. Michael Keaton who plays the protagonist has Swati Moon
Tumblr media
The Sixth Day is a movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger (Punarvasu stellium) and it is about cloning. The title is a reference to the Abrahamic Genesis concept of how God created mankind on the sixth day.
This in itself is very interesting because Punarvasu is the 7th nakshatra and in the Bible, it is said "And on the seventh day God finished the work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done. So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy because on it God rested from all the work that he had done in creation."
7 is a number that has profound spiritual meaning and is present in many religions as a figure of significance. From this verse taken from the Book of Genesis, it is interesting to note that ""7" is the culmination of creation. It is the day on which God rested because he had already created. It is not nothingness, it is the day on which everything already existed. This is a significant Punarvasu theme.
Tumblr media
Replicas stars Keanu Reeves (Punarvasu Moon) as a neuroscientist who tries to revive his deceased family members by cloning them.
Its interesting how in these films, natives appear either as a clone or as the ones who do the cloning, furthermore connecting it back to Punarvasu's creation trope.
Tumblr media
Harrison Ford, Punarvasu sun & moon stars as in and as the Blade Runner (1982) where he must "pursue and terminate four replicants who stole a ship in space and have returned to Earth to find their creator."
Tumblr media
David Cronenberg is a director best known for making really weird, surreal, futuristic movies that heavily feature themes related to the nature of reality, consciousness etc
He is a Punarvasu Moon & Jupiter
Tumblr media
Gakuryu Ishii, Punarvasu Moon is another filmmaker who makes movies that heavily centre around truth, reality, consciousness, the future etc.
I recommend his movie Mirrored Mind which heavily deals with identity, consciousness etc (its vaguely reminiscent of Perfect Blue)
Tumblr media
Robert de Niro Punarvasu Rising, stars in the movie Awakenings (based on a true story) as a catatonic patient who has an "awakening" before tragically going back into catatonia, Robin Williams, Swati Rising stars as the doctor who administers a drug that induces this awakening.
In Vedic philosophy, there are 3 gunas, Rajas, Tamas & Sattva.
Tamas is a state of darkness, inertia, inactivity,
Rajas is a state of energy, action, change, and movement.
Sattva is a state of harmony, balance, joy, and intelligence.
Punarvasu belongs to the Rajas guna whereas Swati belongs to Tamas guna.
Tamas can be described as a state of statis or stagnation as there is no transformation and thus no change. Punarvasu natives are prone to passivity and it is only when they face their own destructive shadow, do they emerge out of passivity to their natural state of Rajas. In this movie, Deniro's experience where he emerges from his catatonia with a desire for freedom and to live life to the fullest before eventually accepting the fact that his condition cannot be remedied inspires the Doctor played by Robin Williams to emerge out of his own shell and live life more fully.
Punarvasus are often restricted by situations beyond their control yet they are possessed by a yearning to live life to the fullest. Swatis often have unmeasured freedom and do not know how to utilize it, they are restricted by their own character.
Tumblr media
The Gaia Hypothesis proposed by James Lovelock (1972) suggests that living organisms on the planet interact with their surrounding inorganic environment to form a synergetic and self-regulating system that created, and now maintains, the climate and biochemical conditions that make life on Earth possible.
It is a holistic view, which is generally not appreciated in science that likes to favour randomness, chance or whatever instead of the innate harmony and union behind creation.
James Lovelock has Punarvasu moon & Swati rising
Lynn Margulis who co-developed this theory with him most likely has Revati Moon and I will be exploring her symbiotic view of evolution on a different post as it goes beyond the scope of this one.
Tumblr media
Edit: as @brundlefly333 pointed out, the French philosopher Henri Bergson (Punarvasu Moon) has a book called Creative Evolution which extrapolates that whilst "evolution of species can come from external factors "like natural selection", it most importantly (comes) from an internal impulse (a creative force). This creative force is inherently unpredictable and non-linear, leading to the emergence of novelty and complexity in living organisms over time.
I find his "Cone of Memory" (depicted above) hypothesis very fascinating.
The Cone of Memory model can be imagined as an inverted cone, with the apex representing the present moment, the base symbolizing the entirety of one’s past experiences, and the cone’s vertical axis signifying the flow of time. As the present moment progresses, the apex of the cone moves upward along the axis, continuously stretching the cone outward as it incorporates new experiences and memories into a person’s consciousness. The memories from our past experiences are layered into the cone, with the most recent memories residing closer to the apex and older memories located further down, towards the base.
Bergson’s model emphasizes the active role of individual perception, memory, and experience in shaping one’s consciousness. The human mind, as depicted by Bergson, interacts with the objective world while drawing from its accumulated memories to create individual experiences in real time. The Cone of Memory focuses on the dynamic interplay between perception, memory, and experience, hoping to account for the generation of novel understandings and interpretations of reality.
Bergson’s emphasis on experience at the personal level also has significant implications for how we understand the self. In his view, the self is not a static entity but rather a constantly developing process, shaped by the dynamic interplay of perception, memory, and experience. This more fluid conception of the self contrasts sharply with many traditional notions of a fixed, unchanging identity. It also invites us to recognize the transformative power of our own experiences and encounters in the continuous interweaving of the past and present in our temporal consciousness.
It can be summed up with this quote:
"To exist is to change, to change is to mature, to mature is to go on creating oneself endlessly"- Henri Bergson

Rudolf Steiner- Ketu in Punarvasu, Swati rising
Steiner's breadth of work encompasses many fields, he pioneered modern-day organic farming, anthroposophical medicine (what we call alternate medicine including homeopathy, massages and frequency work etc rooted in the human body's ability to heal itself) invented the Waldorf education system (alternative schooling) and tried to merge science and spirituality.
All of this is vvv Punarvasu & Swati coded because its these natives who are frequently drawn to non-traditional systems of thought & experience and also merging a vast variety of techniques + being well versed in a lot of different fields etc comes down to having the inner space to hold all of it. This is literally not something most other people can do. Pursuit of knowledge can easily drain/deplete people but Punarvasu & Swati natives have a boundless thirst for knowledge and innately understand the profound truth that everything is connected.
Symbiosis, synergy, syncretism etc are all themes prominent in the works of Swati & Punarvasu natives who tend to view things as a coherent whole and not separate from one another; everything in creation exists to serve one another and exist in perfect harmony. Its not by "accident" that human beings took shape on earth where all the elements exist to continually support human life, every tiny detail is manifest in divine perfection and it helps us understand that we are a part of a larger system and that what we do affects changes at both the micro and macro level.
"Synergetics is the empirical study of systems in transformation, with an emphasis on whole system behaviours unpredicted by the behaviour of any components in isolation. R. Buckminster Fuller (1895–1983) named and pioneered the field. His two-volume work Synergetics: Explorations in the Geometry of Thinking."
Buckminster Fuller had Punarvasu sun & jupiter
I think I had made a post about how Punarvasu natives tend to make geometric art that features repetitive patterns and motifs. I thought Fuller's use of the term "Geometry of Thinking" was very Punarvasu of him.
Pls look him up and his work, its very interesting and if you have Punarvasu placements you might find things you resonate with. I dont want to make this post any longer so I'm not including more of his work although all of it really fits with the theme tbh.
Amartya Sen, the Indian economist and philosopher has Swati Sun, he is best known for his contributions to welfare economics, social choice theory, and development economics. His work incorporates the same holistic view of how everything exists in close interaction with everything else, interconnectedness as well as an all encompassing-ness are themes that dominate his work. Society affects the market, the market affects society, all of this affects interpersonal relationships, it takes a Swati/Punarvasu native to deeply embody this sentiment in their thought/work.
Tumblr media
George Harrison aka the Spiritual Beatle had Swati moon, Jupiter in punarvasu amatyakaraka.
"It's being here now that's important. There's no past and there's no future. Time is a very misleading thing. All there is ever, is the now. We can gain experience from the past, but we can't relive it; and we can hope for the future, but we don't know if there is one."
This quote by him really sums it up.
Tumblr media
Robert A Heinlein had Punarvasu sun, jupiter and rahu
Heinlein used his science fiction as a way to explore provocative social and political ideas and to speculate how progress in science and engineering might shape the future of politics, race, religion, and sex. Within the framework of his science-fiction stories, Heinlein repeatedly addressed certain social themes: the importance of individual liberty and self-reliance, the nature of sexual relationships, the obligation individuals owe to their societies, the influence of organized religion on culture and government, and the tendency of society to repress nonconformist thought. He also speculated on the influence of space travel on human cultural practices.
This is yet another example of the interconnectedness of Punarvasu as well as the analytical nature of these natives.
I will end this post here because I've been rambling for too long but I hope this was informative!! Apologies that this was kinda science heavy and not very pop culture centric :/

Thomas W. Stewart was an African American inventor from Kalamazoo, Michigan, who made significant contributions to household cleaning technology in the late 19th century. On June 11, 1893, he was granted U.S. Patent #499,402 for an innovative mop design that featured a clamping device and lever mechanism, allowing users to wring out water without directly handling the mop head. This design also enabled easy replacement of the mop head, enhancing both hygiene and convenience in floor cleaning.
In addition to his mop invention, Stewart co-developed an improved station and street indicator in 1883 alongside William Edward Johnson. This device was designed for railways and streetcars, automatically signaling the names of streets or stations as the vehicle passed, thereby improving communication and efficiency in public transportation.
Four years later, in 1887, Stewart invented an improved metal-bending machine capable of oscillation, which advanced manufacturing processes involving metalwork.
Stewart's inventive efforts have had a lasting impact, particularly his mop design, which laid the groundwork for modern cleaning tools that prioritize user convenience and hygiene.

I'm sorry, but I heard "I'd rather die than grow old without the best of you" in The Challenge from Epic: The Musical and my brain automatically thought of Agent Stone so here's a little freak out Stobotnik loosely based on this concept.
The first time the Doctor disappeared, his supposed death was so sudden and mysterious that Stone was able to disappear and put contingency plans into action without much difficulty. Robotnik's work was preserved despite the government's attempts to erase him from history, after all, the world's greatest inventor was a source of inspiration for other inventors in every country and organization on the planet. Stone focused on staying in the background and waiting for the Doctor's return, because of course such a brilliant man would not be defeated so easily, and his legacy was fixed in the shadow of the inventors' society whether the american government liked it or not.
This time, however, Robotnik left a message for the world when he disappeared. I mean, technically the message was meant for Stone, but the entire world had access to it, including the International Society of Brilliant Inventors. This meant that Stone had gone from being a nameless assistant in their eyes to Robotnik's right-hand man. It meant that everything that remained of Robotnik's work, in all its detail and genius, was either in Stone's possession or could be reproduced only thanks to his knowledge.
Soon every inventor, from the most renowned to the youngest, wanted Stone by their side in the same way that Robotnik had. The Doctor's reputation only made the man who had been able to win their affection and trust even more desirable in the eyes of these inventors, and so Stone was no longer able to hide as well as he had the first time. No matter what excuse he came up with or how often he disappeared into the most innocuous places on the planet, he was always found by some scientist with an offer of partnership or courtship or employment. This quickly became a problem when all Stone wanted was to be able to process the Doctor's death in peace and think carefully about what to do with the rest of his life.
Stone refused to reveal any information about Robotnik's work beyond what was already public knowledge among the society of inventors, and he would not give in to any advances or threats from anyone who approached him. His loyalty was palpable, and it made them want him even more just for the challenge. So that was exactly what he decided to give them. Whoever could invent something even remotely similar to Robotnik's technology on their own would not only have Stone as an assistant, but also access to all the knowledge he had accumulated about the Doctor over the years. Only someone as brilliant as Robotnik once was would truly be worthy of continuing what he had built on his own.
He never believed that there could actually be a person in this century who could compare to the Doctor and hoped that this challenge would give him time to think about what to really do with Robotnik's work and his own life. Perhaps the friendly advances would turn into outright threats when they realized he was just winding everyone up, but that was okay, Stone was prepared for that. He would rather die than actually hand over Robotnik's legacy to someone else, no matter how deserving they might prove to be.
Stone didn't know that in an even more innocuous place on the planet, Robotnik was recovering from the explosion with Shadow by his side fully aware of the repercussions of his supposed death. He was fully determined to wait for a full recovery to return to his assistant, but when he learned of the challenge, oh, there were no broken bones that would stop him from proving to Stone that he was still the best of the best among all those sycophants in that idiotic society. If his return ends up protecting his assistant from being tortured by less brilliant scientists, but just as cruel as Robotnik considered himself to be, well, let's just say it was a positive side effect.

what’s your take on this whole “viktor is czech” controversy im seeing so many posts about how we can’t say viktor is russian or any other Slav anymore because of harry lloyd saying he did a czech accent
(I'm answering immediately since this is kind of an active topic that will probably quickly die. Please first read my entire post.)
I am of the opinion that everyone is allowed to headcanon a character however they want, and that it's not nice to insist everyone else adopt one's own interpretation especially if it's not canon. Even if things are canon, people can always choose to purposefully ignore canon in favour of what they prefer. This says nothing about quality - that can go either way. Sometimes the original writing is bad, other times it's good and fandom interpretations are of low creativity/low understanding/quality.
This accent discussion is not a controversy, it's just a tug of war between some fans. Lower the bullying and arguments everyone! It's okay. There's not much point fighting between fans, when companies hold all the power.
~
The reality is more complex than "what canon actually says".
Previous League version
Originally, Viktor the Machine Herald was designed to on the surface quickly read like an Eastern-European mad scientist engineer, with "vibes" from the Red Scare (and things like Red Alert). It has roots in ideas about scary effective heavy machinery. He was made to have a stereotypical Hollywood Slavic accent. If people read into it as Russian, it wouldn't be incorrect, thought the company. That doesn't mean he's hard-coded as Russian. There's the opinion of the lead writer Praeco being shared online in which he says:
Tumblr media
He makes the fast mental jump (just like many viewers/players) and lands on the surface-level stereotype, which he thinks is all there is to it. This is false. Viktor's original, release lore from 2011. has no cultural hints towards Russia nor those stereotypes. It is a great basis for developing a more detailed story, which people would certainly love if it was done in an animated medium.
What the lore does have, are similarities with Nikola Tesla, a Serbian engineer and inventor who was conned by Edison, had his work stolen and often been viewed as crazy. Viktor's in-game abilities are inspired by some of Nikola Tesla's hypothetical inventions. His staff has a Tesla coil on it.
I personally write Viktor as being Serbian-inspired due to this, and it's also easier for me as I'm Serbian, so I can make up a headcanon about old lore old Zaunites speaking this language thus explaining the accent when they speak Common; and not stress over messing up a translation. There's also the fact that we are very underrepresented in pop-culture, and even when we are, it's most often as unintelligent criminals.
That doesn't mean that people headcanoning League Viktor as being Russian-inspired are automatically incorrect.
2. Arcane Viktor
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here's the interview with the voice actor. There's a couple of things here to be noted. He says a "frail Eastern-European scientist"... meanwhile Czechs are Western Slavs, not Eastern. This tells me the Americans leading the show didn't pay much attention to ethnicities, as those things don't matter to them.
Then Nikola Tesla is brought up again - proving the original core archetype. But Nikola Tesla was Serbian, who are South Slavs, not Eastern nor Western.
To Americans, we are all interchangeable. They really don't care. They hired a British voice actor, despite there being countless Slavic voice actors they could have contacted. I can even reach a bunch of them.
The voice actor they hired had only practiced a Czech accent in one of his previous works, and it was "close enough". And what I can say is that he doesn't sound neither Russian, nor Serbian to my ear. Our accent is way more heavy and explosive (actually pretty similar to original in-game Viktor! Just less dramatic) while Russian would be way more softer. I've seen some Czechs say he does indeed sound Czech, and I think that's completely valid! But Arcane Viktor is Czech not by design, but out of necessity.
Czechs (Česi!!!!!) are also very little represented in pop-culture. Basically non-existent. They have also historically been behind the Iron Curtain, so you must understand their position. I think people have the right to headcanon Arcane Viktor as being Czech-inspired, despite what all the inconsistencies and frankly bad mixups have been said by the production crew behind-the-scenes. And they absolutely should not be bullied and forced into headcanoning Arcane Viktor as Russian or any other ethnicity! What's in the work itself sounds Czech, not Serbian. That said, I also think people have the right to personally headcanon Arcane Viktor as any ethnicity-inspired as they wish. Just know the state of things like I shared here, say what your personal headcanon is and don't vaguepost or bully other people. Those throwing rocks first should stop.
3. In the end, I personally view Arcane Viktor as Czech-inspired, League Viktor as Serbian-inspired, but it's not even wrong to consider him generally Slavic-inspired, as these nationalities really don't exist in Runeterra. Political situation aside.

Engineer
Always covered in grease from the last job, an Engineer never quite fits in at a fancy event, but they are second to none with machines and technology.
The Engineer's art is here! This piece was done by my good friend Phinneas Sargent (CrystalCorvid on Tumblr.)
Engineers are essential crew members on ships, as keeping everything in good condition can mean the difference between life and death in space. In the colonies, Engineers are integral to their communities in a variety of ways, often working as handymen, shipwrights, gunsmiths, or inventors.
Features
Critical Attributes
Mind. Your Mind modifier is your proficiency modifier.
Body. Your Body modifier is used for your perception checks, and to calculate your Attribute Save DC.
Skills
Engineers get special Tricks for the Crafting, Deft Fingers, Programming, and Repair skills. Choose at least 2 of these as your first skills. You may take all 4 if you like. After you have chosen, you can fill out the rest of your core skills with any skills you wish.
Combat Proficiencies
Signature Weapon
Choose 1 from: Axe, Hammer, Martial Arts, Sling, Blunderbuss, or Crossbow. Add your proficiency modifier when you attack with this weapon.
Actions.
You can take [1 + Body modifier] Actions per round in combat.
Reactions
Choose either the Parry or Dodge Reaction. When you take this Reaction in combat, add your proficiency modifier.
Archetypal Abilities
Drone
You can deploy a Drone that can see, hear, and manipulate objects for you. You can control it using your PDA from up to 50 metres away. In combat, the Drone acts as a Minion.
Drones can be upgraded over time. You can do this yourself using the Crafting skill, or you can pay a robotics shop to do it for you. You start the game with 1 Small sized Drone. You can modify your Drone to change its size, or you can purchase or build other Drones. There is no limit to how many Drones an Engineer can own at a time.
A Drone's size determines it's HP, armour, storage capacity (when a compartment is installed), and the total number of upgrades it can have. Without a storage compartment, the Drone can only hold 1 item (or set of tools) at a time, in its “hands.”
• Tiny: 1 HP, 2 DR. 2 upgrade slots. No storage compartment possible. Tiny Drones have the Subterfuge skill automatically.
• Small: 5 HP, 4 DR. 3 upgrade slots. 5-item storage capacity with compartment.
• Medium: 5 HP, 6 DR. 5 upgrade slots, 15-item storage capacity with compartment, plus straps on exterior.
• Large: 10 HP, 8 DR. 8 upgrade slots, 30-item storage capacity with compartment, plus straps on exterior, can lift oversized items. Large Drones have the Intimidation skill automatically.
Tumblr media
Command Minion
Commanding a Drone does not require you to spend an Action. When commanded, the Drone acts immediately as part of your turn.
Each Drone has 1 Action per round. If you want your Drone to do more, you can donate as many of your own Actions as you want to 1 Drone each round. If a Drone takes an Action that affects another creature, the Spotlight is passed on and your turn ends as if you had taken the Action yourself. If it does not pass the Spotlight on, your turn resumes after the Drone has finished.
If you do not issue any commands to your Drone on your turn, it will not act unless the Spotlight is passed to it directly. You can choose how it spends its Action if the Spotlight is passed to it in this way. If the Spotlight is never passed to it during the round, its Action is forfeited so the next round can begin.
Rugged Nerd
Three times a day, you can swap your Body modifier and your Mind modifier for a single roll. You may decide to do this after you make the initial roll.
Concentration
You can focus on your current task very intensely, giving you Good Luck to all associated roles while you're working on it. However, you have Bad Luck to all rolls related to anything outside of the task you're focused on. You cannot make perception checks when using Concentration. Instead, you must use your minimum perception, if checks are required.
Travel Action: Tune Up
During travel, an Engineer can choose to spend a Travel Action helping crew members tune up their gear that week. Any crew member who chooses to spend a Travel Action working on their gear receives +1 to their Deft Fingers, Programming, and Repair skills. The Engineer receives this bonus without needing to spend another Travel Action. This bonus lasts 1 day for each time the crew member participated during travel, starting the day they disembark.
Starting Equipment
Functional Backpack or Navy Pack (holds 15 items)
Shiphand’s Uniform or Daytime Clothes
Mycelium or Porcelain Armour
Signature Weapon (See “Features”)
PDA + 1TB holodisc
Drone
50 guilders
Engineer Tricks
These Tricks are ONLY those unique to your archetype.
Crafting Tricks
Your Crafting skill is your ability to create and build.
Learn from Your Mistakes
You are used to the set backs that come with building things. The first failed roll you make during a Crafting project still counts toward the total number of Crafting sessions you need to complete it. Gain +1 Crafting Requires: Engineer archetype
Recycling
When you roll a Critical Failure while Crafting, you can salvage some of the materials. Instead of restarting the project from scratch, you can begin with 1 Crafting session already complete. If the item was going to take only a single session to craft, you lose progress as normal. Gain +1 Crafting Requires: Engineer archetype, +2 Crafting
Automation
If you have more than 1 Drone, you can have a Drone upgrade another with minimal oversight, as long as you have a ready-made Upgrade Kit. This takes twice as long as installing it yourself. Gain +1 Crafting Requires: Engineer archetype, +5 Crafting
Deft Fingers
This is your fine motor skill, like screwing in a tiny screw, or picking a lock. This can also impact your ability to multitask.
Split-Screen
You can now receive simultaneous feeds to your PDA from 2 Drones. If you are donating your Actions to your Drones, you can split your Actions between them. The Drones perform their commands at the same time. Gain +1 Deft Fingers Requires: Engineer archetype
Healing Touch
Your dexterity allows you to make the repairs others just can’t reach. When healing Drones and anthroparians, you can now add your proficiency modifier to the total HP regained. Gain +1 Deft Fingers Requires: Engineer archetype, +2 Deft Fingers
High Precision Machinery
You are able to construct machines with a higher level of accuracy than other Engineers. After taking this Trick, you can spend 2 hours to modify a Drone, giving it the ability to attack twice using a single Action. This attack must be with the same weapon. Gain +1 Deft Fingers Requires: Engineer archetype, +5 Deft Fingers
Tightly Packed
You can fit a number of extra upgrades into a Drone size Small or larger, equal to your proficiency modifier. In addition, you can double up on upgrades that affect the same part of the Drone, so you could fit 2 foot upgrades or 2 weapon upgrades into a single Drone. Gain +1 Deft Fingers Requires: Engineer archetype, +8 Deft Fingers
Programming
Programming is your ability to troubleshoot computers, write programs, and hack.
Augmentation
Using an Action, you can give 1 of your own skills to your Drone for your next 15 Actions (1 minute), as long as the skill is physically possible for the Drone to perform. The Drone’s Actions count towards the time limit as if they were your own Actions. The Drone must be within range of your PDA to activate this Trick, but it remains active even if the Drone leaves your range. For the duration, the Drone can use the skill as if it were its own, using your skill modifier. The Drone does not have access to any Tricks with the borrowed skill. Gain +1 Programming Requires: Engineer archetype
Overclock
As an Action, you can enhance any weapon that deals elemental damage for the wielder’s next 15 Actions (1 minute). If you use this Trick to enhance your Drone’s weapon, then count your own Actions, including Actions the Drone takes, for this duration. You must be able to touch the weapon to modify it. During the duration it deals an extra 3 elemental damage. You can do this a number of times a day equal to ½ your Programming skill modifier, rounded down. Gain +1 Programming Requires: Engineer archetype, + 2 Programming
Assuming Control
Using an Action, you can automatically take control of 1 Drone or turret within 6 metres of you. If the Engineer in control of the enemy Drone or turret is present, they can make a contested roll against your Programming skill to resist. If you succeed, you control this Drone’s actions, including its attack, and can receive audio and visual data from it for your next 15 Actions (1 minute.) You can only control 1 Drone or turret at a time. You cannot use the Augmentation Trick, or any other Trick that would allow you to enhance the machine’s basic capabilities. Gain +1 Programming Requires: Engineer archetype, + 5 Programming
System Administrator
Using an Action, you can take control of all Drones or turrets in a 8 metre range, following the same rules as Assuming Control. You can send mass commands to all the machines in your control, which they will execute with their own Actions. To command a Drone individually requires donating your own Actions, per the rules for Command Minion. Gain +1 Programming Requires: Engineer archetype, +8 Programming, Assuming Control
Repair
The ability to repair electronics and mechanics, if you have Engineer’s Tools.
Jury-Rig
As an Action, you can make a quick repair to something without using any supplies or tools. This repair lasts for a single use. This can be used to quick-patch a Drone or anthroparian in combat for 3 HP. Gain +1 Repair Requires: Engineer archetype
Signal Jam
You have a little radio jammer at your disposal, which you can deploy as an Action. This will block enemy Engineers from commanding their Drones 20 metre radius. The Drone will take default Actions, unless it is equipped with a Combat AI. The Drone’s controller can make a contested roll against your Repair skill to bypass this. The jammer has no effect on your own Drones’ communications. This lasts your next 15 Actions (1 minute). Gain +1 Repair Requires: Engineer archetype, +2 Repair
Tinkering
An Engineer can tinker with a piece of gear to increase its' performance, with no supplies needed. This takes 10 minutes, and lasts for 1 hour. This can be done a maximum of 3 times a day. • Armour: Increase DR by 2. • Weapon: Increase the main type of damage by 3. • PDA: Double the range of spy gear, network access, Drones, or communications. • Headgear: Create night vision or infra-red vision. Gain +1 Repair Requires: Engineer archetype, +5 Repair, Jury-Rig
Robotics Expert
You can install some Drone Upgrades into your anthroparian friends. Doing this requires twice as long as a Drone installation. Gain +1 Repair Requires: Engineer archetype, +8 Repair
