what you need to understand about jason todd is that what he said in his unhinged little telegram to dick where he said he got cured of being a tentacle monster he was lying. he lied to him. He lied to him and he still gets betentacleized regularly its his that time of month. many dont realize this but its true

Dick who tries to save/help Jason to change, because he genuinely believes this is the way for Jason to heal. Because Bruce truly believes this is what Jason must do.
Vs.
Jason who never tried to change Dick, because he knows to love someone is to not try and change them, but to be there when Dick falls and to catch him.

Brothers in Blood but instead of framing Dick for murder Jason's doing full on Hannibal Lecter shit like meticulously set up traps and situations and fucked up trolley problems and psychological manipulation trying to coerce Dick into organically murdering someone himself. Why? They were doing anything with Jason's character in this era, why not. Lets get psychological with it

This is how I think Nightwing (1996) #122 Brothers in Blood should have gone.

Nightwing #118
There is something so funky going on with his proportions here, but I love it. His calves are the same thickness as his thighs. what a sturdy guy! A+

Dickie has to keep his little brother safe from other men because Jason looks too pretty when he blushes.

Okay, I've been coerced into reading Brother in Blood, and will be documenting my opinions of it because why not.
Okay, lady, first you call him a god and then you tell him he can't dress himself? Which is it? Dick you can do better.
Wait a minute. What is that? A bat-buckle? I take it back, she was right, you don't know how to dress. (Ngl I kind of want one).
Why did this make me so sad? "...spent some of my happiest times alone?" Dickie you're making me cry
I'm assuming he's talking to someone on the phone but idk who. Maybe he's talking to his demons, it's unclear. Also, just because things are better, doesn't mean they're good
They're really trying to make Mr. Nightwing a thing. Poor Nightwing, everyone's bashing on his name, calling him No-wing Nightwing. Give the poor guy a break.
NOT THAT KIND OF BREAK DON'T DROP HIM OFF A BUILDING!!!
Yay! Nightwing is saved by... Nightwing?!?! Hello Jason, excellent dramatic entrance, you're doing so well, even with the throat-slashing in front of a child at the beginning of this issue. That was maybe not great

Funny choice of wording, isn’t it? When appalled and fully opposed to something, most people would say firmly “you’re completely delusional/insane” but Dick thinks he’s only slightly off the rails. Almost like he’s wavering and actually considering it at times.
Nightwing (1993-) #120
Me to Dick after he said it for the second time:
Nightwing (1993-) #119

Digging through a box of old stuff searching for something (that I didn't find) but did turn up this TYPE O NEGATIVE 'Brothers in Blood Loyalty Card' that I completely forgot I had. Came with my 1996 preorder of OCTOBER RUST in the UK and is apparently really rare 😅
(I never did register myself as a 'Brother In Blood', I wonder if they would still accept me?)

Was thinking the other day about Jason Todd characterizations in comics that I had 0 notes on.
I came up with two examples.
Red Hood: Lost Days.
And
BROTHERS IN BLOOD.
