i like obidei but only in a very specific way. basically i just think the idea of deidara seeing obito not just unmasked but having dropped the tobi persona entirely (whether obito intended him to see or not), being really into him, and absolutely fucking hating it would be really funny. like fucking fuming about the fact that obito is an uchiha who has been playing him for a fool this entire time with the whole tobi persona but he’s also actually hot as fuck with this cool mature vibe. just utterly seething
#in my eyes it’d be onesided i don’t think obito would be into deidara in turn and i doubt he’d sleep with him or anything#unless he felt he was losing deidara’s loyalty when he still needed it. then maybe#obito’s really dedicated to his goals i don’t think he’d view sex as being out of the question. he’d do it if needed#i haven’t properly watched naruto so grain of salt and all that but to me obito’s personality is pretty calm#being confronted with someone from his past eg kakashi or really fighting for his goals brings out the intensity but i think default state#is actually pretty cool and collected. it’s kind of creepy in a way bc if he’s not acting you feel distinctly aware of the way he views you#and everything as pieces on a chess board for him to manipulate. the intensity is still there but it’s not drawn out of him the way it was#in his fight with kakashi or something#but basically all of this makes me think that if 19 yr old deidara saw this he’d kind of view it as mature older man vibes ykwim#i mean they’re shinobi. their threshold to creepiness and stuff is higher i’d say. maybe this is what mature older man charm is to ninja#also competence obito is very competent which adds to the appeal#this may be way off base and ooc for them. i don’t think deidara would completely lose his wariness in fact i think it’d increase it#i just think he’d be into obito regardless#naruto#obidei#obito uchiha#uchiha obito#deidara#mecore

I hate that my lost media that I'm deeply invested in, is something that only people of my age group and went to public school in Florida can provide any information on. But also the fact that it was a program designed and used in elementary and has a name that brings up school classroom decorations...
#SUNSHINE CLASSROOM WHEN I GET YOU#I had found some info on it in 2019 but I can't remember what I searched cause I lost the page after accessing it#I've tried searching school curriculums; the county's info on software; and even the name of the software that opened Sunshine Classroom#which was called Studentsoft#other people's stuff is like songs and movies they saw as a kid#but mine is some edutainment software that's lost to time and wasn't available for purchase to the general public#BUT I did find launchpad; fcat explorer; destination math and compass learning odyssey#but I also want the weird arithmetic game where you answer different arithmetic math questions to unlock skins for the screen#my class would compete to get the cooler ones and flex which we had based on how far we got into the game#idk the name of that one though#it's very much possible that it was another program that was rebranded around the Sun since I'm in the Sunshine State so idk

I'm not sure that naming gymnastics as the antithesis to sports with "ghettoized leagues for the frail and delicate" where traits more common in cis men give you an inherent advantage is quite the W you think it is, mate
crazy that in the 1970s they were like, "fine, women can play sports. but because they're innately less athletic than men, only in a special ghettoized League For The Frail And Delicate where they get paid less 😊". And not only is that still the system in 2023, but viciously lashing out at the smallest challenges to that system gets framed as Feminist Praxis
#gymnastics doesn't just have a separate league for men and women - men's gymnastics and women's gymnastics are separate sports#with different events and completely different rules#on the planes where they are comparable the men are lightyears ahead#the hardest floor skill in women's gym is a tuck triple twisting double & there are like three female gymnasts in the WORLD who can do that#men's has the same skill in a layout position (harder) as well as two variations on the (much harder) triple back#uneven bars has similar skills to MAG high bar but high bar has an entire class of releases (Kovacs type skills) that no woman has attempte#simone's yurchenko pike double back that dropped so many jaws in WAG is a 5.6 DV in MAG; their hardest vaults are 6.0#if you want a sport where men and women compete on an equal playing field and the women actually win a lot of the time#the first one that comes to my mind is equestrian#although even that one is a Good Question because like#the grassroots base of equestrian is OVERWHELMINGLY female but the elite levels of the sport have a far more equal balance#making you wonder what the limiting factor is that keeps that overwhelming female proportion from making it into the upper echelons too#i do not mean this in a transphobic/gender essentialist/men and women should be separated way#I compete gymnastics in a league that allows co-ed competition in both the ''men's'' and ''women's'' disciplines and I have a lot of fun#what I mean is that the best paradigm here is not a settled question and may actually lie outside of any model that's currently common#(for example co-ed teams which must play a certain number of men AND a certain number of women at all times)#gymnastics

i haven’t used this blog in forever lmao. but listened to jennie’s album and wanted to express how much i love to see her win. she was everyone’s punching bag (even her own damn fandom) since hiatus, that everyone forgot that she was THE it girl. the album is unapologetically confident, but it is not arrogant or flashy. we learn that her strength comes from her loyalty to her loved ones and this discipline for self-introspection.
to me, it was a solid 8/10. my only criticisms is that lyrically, it is a bit weaker compared to the heavy focus on instrumentals and creating a cohesive sonic sound. i hope with the success, should jnk2 come, she’s dedicated a writer’s camp because i would love to hear more what she has to say, and be in a room of experienced writers that could put that push on it. she very much stated that this was her introduction to sound production, but her second verse in ‘like JENNIE’ really shows the cleverness of being in a room with both english and korean writers that get her vision. the songs that she didn’t have a writing credit on with the exception of jane (start a war, handlebars, love hangover, and filter) were sonically good fillers, but weren’t the highlights of the album. her zane lowe interview did show that her introversion does create a block for her expressing herself deeper.
nonetheless, may i say that the visual marketing for the album really pulls it altogether. i think people underestimate how aesthetics do play into how an album is perceived because its art. people want imagery that matches the body of work, not just a nice portrait that can be a throwaway instagram post (personally, new artists just struggle with this because it’s an image that’s going to be plastered everywhere that they want to look nice). but the red symbolism in the opening curtains, the album wig, the field of flowers, etc — it’s strong, passionate, and a warning as much as it a symbol of love. it was an excellent choice for the themes of her album.
#jennie kim#ruby#truthfully was kinda scared that they based so much of blackpink off her image that we’d just get that#but i love that she did the idol and befriended mike in the process#to me besides jisoo like rosie’s and lisa’s projects lacked what makes them good artists#it’s not a comparison game of them as artists like THINK BIGGER IM SORRY#but like for rosie; apt was such a big song that her album shouldn’t have been in the olivia rodrigo space of singer-songwriter#she’s so sweet and lovable and more personable out of the four that i would’ve made her a full pop girl#have some of the ballads still here; but do NOT make it the center focus of her artistry because it’s something she can build off of#for lisa; i love the alter ego concept but it is weak because it lacks identity in what is supposed to be her introduction#people can say that it’s supposed to show her range and you have to hear the explanation to get it… it means it does NOT work#to me she has the weakest visual marketing and curation because they are trying to push her as an ‘everything’ girl to see what sticks#but by doing so it lacks direction; like i wouldn’t be able to describe her artistry in five words or less which is bad#i would have build off rockstar and play more into the gold aesthetics WITH thai aesthetics and talk about how the culture is celebratory#i seen some stans that were saying that it’s her thai-ness that makes her discriminated against the korean girls… like babes… they’re all#marketing in america… if they see an asian girl they’re not questioning where that asian girl is from like sk 😭#i think the thing is too is that they’re trying to market her as pop/rap and having to compete with the likes of doja and doechi is crazy#they’re not just likable people that make good music; the artistry is there because they’re part of their vision from top down and the lack#of curation of lisa’s album does show that she’s either not that heavily invested or her team cares too much about accolades than the music

Genocide experts warn that India is about to genocide the Shompen people
Who are the Shompen?
The Shompen are an indigenous culture that lives in the Great Nicobar Island, which is nowadays owned by India. The Shompen and their ancestors are believed to have been living in this island for around 10,000 years. Like other tribes in the nearby islands, the Shompen are isolated from the rest of the world, as they chose to be left alone, with the exception of a few members who occasionally take part in exchanges with foreigners and go on quarantine before returning to their tribe. There are between 100 and 400 Shompen people, who are hunter-gatherers and nomadic agricultors and rely on their island's rainforest for survival.
Why is there risk of genocide?
India has announced a huge construction mega-project that will completely change the Great Nicobar Island to turn it into "the Hong Kong of India".
Nowadays, the island has 8,500 inhabitants, and over 95% of its surface is made up of national parks, protected forests and tribal reserve areas. Much of the island is covered by the Great Nicobar Biosphere Reserve, described by UNESCO as covering “unique and threatened tropical evergreen forest ecosystems. It is home to very rich ecosystems, including 650 species of angiosperms, ferns, gymnosperms, and bryophytes, among others. In terms of fauna, there are over 1800 species, some of which are endemic to this area. It has one of the best-preserved tropical rain forests in the world.”
The Indian project aims to destroy this natural environment to create an international shipping terminal with the capacity to handle 14.2 million TEUs (unit of cargo capacity), an international airport that will handle a peak hour traffic of 4,000 passengers and that will be used as a joint civilian-military airport under the control of the Indian Navy, a gas and solar power plant, a military base, an industrial park, and townships aimed at bringing in tourism, including commercial, industrial and residential zones as well as other tourism-related activities.
This project means the destruction of the island's pristine rainforests, as it involves cutting down over 852,000 trees and endangers the local fauna such as leatherback turtles, saltwater crocodiles, Nicobar crab-eating macaque and migratory birds. The erosion resulting from deforestation will be huge in this highly-seismic area. Experts also warn about the effects that this project will have on local flora and fauna as a result of pollution from the terminal project, coastal surface runoff, ballasts from ships, physical collisions with ships, coastal construction, oil spills, etc.
The indigenous people are not only affected because their environment and food source will be destroyed. On top of this, the demographic change will be a catastrophe for them. After the creation of this project, the Great Nicobar Island -which now has 8,500 inhabitants- will receive a population of 650,000 settlers. Remember that the Shompen and Nicobarese people who live on this island are isolated, which means they do not have an immune system that can resist outsider illnesses. Academics believe they could die of disease if they come in contact with outsiders (think of the arrival of Europeans to the Americas after Christopher Columbus and the way that common European illnesses were lethal for indigenous Americans with no immunization against them).
And on top of all of this, the project might destroy the environment and the indigenous people just to turn out to be useless and sooner or later be abandoned. The naturalist Uday Mondal explains that “after all the destruction, the financial viability of the project remains questionable as all the construction material will have to be shipped to this remote island and it will have to compete with already well-established ports.” However, this project is important to India because they want to use the island as a military and commercial post to stop China's expansion in the region, since the Nicobar islands are located on one of the world's busiest sea routes.
Last year, 70 former government officials and ambassadors wrote to the Indian president saying the project would “virtually destroy the unique ecology of this island and the habitat of vulnerable tribal groups”. India's response has been to say that the indigenous tribes will be relocated "if needed", but that doesn't solve the problem. As a spokesperson for human rights group Survival International said: “The Shompen are nomadic and have clearly defined territories. Four of their semi-permanent settlements are set to be directly devastated by the project, along with their southern hunting and foraging territories. The Shompen will undoubtedly try to move away from the area destroyed, but there will be little space for them to go. To avoid a genocide, this deadly mega-project must be scrapped.”
On 7 February 2024, 39 scholars from 13 countries published an open letter to the Indian president warning that “If the project goes ahead, even in a limited form, we believe it will be a death sentence for the Shompen, tantamount to the international crime of genocide.”
How to help
The NGO Survival International has launched this campaign:
From this site, you just need to add your name and email and you will send an email to India's Tribal Affairs Minister and to the companies currently vying to build the first stage of the project.
Share it with your friends and acquittances and on social media.

12 Red Herrings to Keep Your Readers Distracted
I’ve seen mystery/thriller authors use the same handful of red herrings too many times to count. So here are some (hopefully not as common) red herrings for your writing.
1. The Unreliable Narrator's Bias
Your narrator can play favourites and scheme and twist the way your readers interpret the story. Use this to your advantage! A character portrayed as untrustworthy can really be someone innocent the narrator framed, vice versa.
2. The Loyal Traitor
A character with a history of betrayal or questionable loyalty is an obvious suspect. They did it once, they could do it again, right? Wrong! They’ve actually changed and the real traitor is someone you trusted.
3. The Conflicted Expert
An expert—like a detective, scientist, or historian—analyses a piece of evidence. They’re ultimately wrong, either due to bias, missing data, or pressure to provide quick answers.
4. The Overly Competent Ally
You know that one sidekick or ally who’s somehow always ahead of the curve? They’re just really knowledgeable, your characters know this, but it makes it hard to trust them. Perfection is suspicious! But in this case, they’re actually just perfect.
5. The Misleading Emotional Clue
Maybe one of your characters is seen crying, angry, or suspiciously happy after xyz event. Characters suspect them, but turns out they’re just having a personal issue. (People have lives outside of yours MC smh). Or it could be a cover-up.
6. A Misleading Alibi
At first this character’s alibi seems perfect but once the protag digs into it, it has a major hole/lie. Maybe they were in a different location or the person they claimed to be with was out of town.
7. The Odd Pattern
Have a seemingly significant pattern—symbols left at crime scenes, items stolen in a specific order, crimes on specific dates. Then make it deliberately planted to mislead.
8. The Misinterpreted Relationship
A character was secretly close to a victim/suspect, making them a suspect. Turns out they were hiding a completely unrelated secret; an affair, hidden family connection, etc.
9. A Forgotten Grudge
Create a grudge or past feud and use it to cast suspicion on an innocent character. Introducing an aspect of their past also helps flesh out their character and dynamics as a group + plant distrust.
10. The Faked Death
Luke Castellan, need I say more (I will)? A supposedly innocent character dies, but turns out they faked it and were never a victim in the first place. They just needed to be out of the picture.
11. The Mistaken Eavesdropper
A character overhears a threat, argument, etc. They suspect B based on this convo, but turns out they just came to a false conclusion. (Or did they?)
12. The Forgetful Alibi
Someone confesses to hearing/seeing a clue, but turns out they were mistaken. Maybe they thought they heard a certain ringtone, or saw xyz which C always wears, but their memory was faulty or influenced by stress.

I still don't understand why we can't just have sports be by ability level and not gender
#a lot of jocks in my intro to gender studies class keep doing presentations about trans people in sports#and its like cool important topic but god damn can we pick something else#anyways one of the discussion questions is always 'should trans people be allowed to play sports??'#and im like.......... why cant we just have it be by ability#like there is no 'ahh!!! the trans woman is going to out perform the cis women in swimming!!' because they people shell compete with are#her equals in ability. like the best of the men and women team. and if that includes a trans person so what#its just based on ability its not that different from JV and Varsity sports in high school

I CAN SEE YOU; dr jack abbot x chief res!reader
words: 3,200+
content warnings: jealous abbot, fluffy, YEARNING, lil bit smutty
notes: based off of this banger
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷
He was everywhere. Or at least it felt like it.
His shoulder brushing against hers as they lifted a patient from gurney to bed. His rough but warm fingertips skimming her own soft, manicured ones as they swapped shift notes. Every hallway she was entering, he seemed to be exiting - their bodies just barely grazing each other as they passed by. In the ambulance bay, outside the family room, the break room, at the nurses station.
He was everywhere in that damn ED. And now he was here too - at her usual hot yoga class.
Jack already felt like a fool for being there. His therapist had been telling him for years to try yoga and for years he had been rolling his eyes at the suggestion.
Typically, he was pretty good about listening to his therapist but what could yoga teach him about focus and presence that years in combat and emergency medicine hadn't already?
That was until she showed up.
Jack can still remember the exact thought he had the first time he saw her, 'Thank god she is not on the night shift.'
Her confidence, her beauty, the way her hips swayed when she walked, her brain, her laugh reverberating through the ED, how calm she was under pressure, her smart ass comments that made him crack a smile even on the worst of shifts - would all cause him a lot more trouble than they already did if she was with him on the night shift.
The first year of her residency was fine. He barely saw her and when he did, he told himself that he was just proud of a competent student who had a bright future ahead.
The second year of her residency, he had to admit to himself that he had a crush. A crush that he could never ever act upon - it was inappropriate on so many different levels - but a crush none the less. He was her boss, her teacher, at least 12 years her senior and he respected her far too much to let his own selfish wants get in the way of the career she had worked so hard for.
This third year was absolutely fucking killing him. He thought he had finally gotten a handle on his crush. That admiring her from afar was the closest he’d ever get to having her. And he was okay with that. Until Shen and his wife had a baby and Shen asked her to swap shifts with him.
In true Shen fashion, he didn't even mention it to Jack. Jack just choked on his coffee when she walked through the door and told him the news. When he asked why she'd agreed, she just shrugged and said, "If I'm not going to have a life outside of this place, I guess Shen can."
It has only been a month of her on the night shift and Jack already feels insane. Which is how he found himself at the closest yoga studio to the hospital. He was desperate to regain his previous level of focus so when his therapist suggested yoga again, he listened for once in his life.
Once he saw her, Jack probably had about a 5 second window to escape the studio without being caught. But he missed it because he was too busy drooling over how her skin tight powder blue leggings complimented the swell of her ass.
"Dr Abbot?"
Too late now. She unrolled her mat next to his, because of course the only spot left in the class was next to him, and then she just looked at him with a shadow of a smirk on her face.
"What is so funny?"
"Nothing. I just never would have pegged you as a hot yoga guy."
"I'm not."
She just raised her eyebrows in question.
"My therapist suggested it."
"Therapy and yoga? Next you're going to tell me you have a Nobel Peace Prize or something."
Jack's lips couldn't help but mold into the smallest smirk. He was so happy this room was dark. "No...just a purple heart. Only had to give them my leg to get it.”
The laugh she let out earned them a couple glares but Jack could care less about disturbing the quiet of the yoga studio when she was looking at him like that.
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷
She felt almost nervous as she trekked up to the roof. Their shift had sucked - plain and simple. It felt as if everyone coded in some capacity. One of the many they could not save was a veteran and Dr Abbot had just gotten through telling the family.
Probably why he was getting chicken wings and beer DoorDashed to the roof of the hospital.
She opened the door with her hip, both hands being occupied by Dr Abbot's delivery.
"What are you doing here?"
"You know they only pay residents so much - I had to pick up a side gig." Dr Abbot's was too distracted from the long day to realize she was making a joke.
His face falls into what reads as surprise and then sympathy. Like he's been an attending for so long that he forgot the abysmal wages residents make.
"I'm kidding! Your dasher took his job title a little too seriously and dropped this off with me in the ambulance bay and told me to get it to the 'guy who is always on the roof.'"
"You didn't have to come all the way up here."
"I wanted to check on you."
"I would have come down to get it. I have legs."
"You have leg. Singular. Not plural."
Jack let out a genuine laugh that he didn't even know he was capable of after the day they had had.
"Have you ever considered stand up?"
"Have you ever considered standing on the safe side of the safety railing? Just a thought."
"I like the view from here." He was staring right at her.
Ironically enough Jack had started going to yoga to distract himself from her and it has done the complete opposite. If anything, the friendship they have struck up has made him more bold. They have a routine - they work, they go to yoga, they get a tea and then Jack drives her home. And they yap the entire time.
Oh yeah, she's started calling him Jack now. So much so, he doesn't blush anymore when she does it. But she is blushing now.
Her cheeks are burning red. She is hoping to blame it on wind burn or something. Is Jack finally flirting with her? Ever since they ran into each other at yoga, class by class, she has gotten him to relax around her. She gets more Jack and less Dr Abbot. But still, it feels like he's restraining some piece of himself from her.
She noticed last week, when she mentioned her rapidly approaching residency graduation, he seemed different. At first he seemed surprised, almost like he forgot there even was a residency graduation. Then relieved like the concept of her no longer being a resident was exactly what he needed to make any kind of move. Or so she hoped.
She turns, his food and beer in hand, sits against the wall of the hospital and cracks open a beer. What is she doing? She doesn't even like beer. But she likes Jack. And is trying really hard to not imagine the muscles she sees under his shirt at yoga being used to press her against the wall she's sitting against.
"Hey - that's mine."
"Get over here then, Abbot."
He takes off of his jacket on his walk over and she allows herself only a second of imaging it on her bedroom floor. The feeling of Jack placing it around her shoulders and plopping himself next to her brings her out of her head.
"You don't have to-" She starts.
"You’re cold." He gently tugs her hair out from under his jacket and she wants to absolutely melt at the brief sensation of his touch on the back of her neck. She has to stop herself from whimpering. She tells herself to get a grip.
She just holds up her beer, "Consider this my delivery fee."
Jack clinks his beer against hers, "Cheers...to being a yoga guy."
Her bright eyes blow to the size of saucers, her jaw drops, and she's laughing as she knocks her shoulder against his, "I knew it!"
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷
Jack is in trouble. He now has an unlimited monthly yoga membership to the studio closest to the hospital even though he only ever goes with her after their shared shifts. He thinks he may be falling in love. Fast. And even worse, he is starting to allow himself to think that maybe she is too.
He thinks maybe it was always there for both of them but something about this impending residency graduation has given them both the freedom they needed to explore it. Not that anything has actually even happened.
She felt stupid. She was close to getting herself a neurology consult for the way she was thinking. Nothing had ever actually even happened between her and Jack. But having to go from experiencing his quiet confidence and intellect and calm teaching at work to his sweaty muscles and heavy breathing at yoga had her brain running absolutely wild.
He probably sees her as nothing but his favorite resident and she is practically falling in love with him. And that isn't a hyperbole.
The night was slow in the ED. Noone dared to say that out loud though. Especially since it was still earlier - barely 9 PM. Some of the day shift was even still there - opting to work their mandated monthly double shift on a slow night.
They were both at the nurse's station - always in each other's orbit. Jack was charting and she was recommending a jeweler to Bridget. She had found him when looking for someone to make a custom dog tag necklace that was meant to be a replica of the kind her dad wore when he was in the Army. When he died, they were never able to recover his actual tags.
Jack's phone went off and he stepped away for a moment before returning. He pointed at her before tucking his phone back in his pocket, "Gloria says we have a VIP patient en route from PPG Paints Arena. Connor Matthews from the Penguins. And he has specifically requested you."
If she didn't know any better, she could've sworn Jack's jaw twitched.
The murmurs began real quick. Why was the star of the Pittsburgh Penguins requesting her? She hated that Connor was coming in but she sort of loved that Abbot could potentially be jealous.
Princess cut straight to the point, "How do you know him?"
"We grew up together. He played hockey with my brothers."
Connor was being ushered in, still in his jersey and ice pack resting on his forehead, as she walked over to him.
Jack watched out of the corner of his eye, hoping he was looking like an attentive attending rather than just plain jealous. He pretended to be charting but he was straining to hear every part of the conversation.
"I texted you."
"I know."
"I called you."
She grits her teeth as she repeats herself, "I know. I also know that you could have gotten stitches from the team doctor so why the dramatic visit?"
"I think you know why."
"Connor, I don't know how many times I have to tell you this-"
"I know! I just can't help myself."
"Well start." She deadpans, flashing her light pen way too close to his eyes. Maybe not the most professional thing in the world but he deserved it for wasting her time like this.
"Ow! What was that for?"
"Checking for a concussion."
"Yeah, I'm sure."
"Mateo, can you please take him over to a room and stitch him up?"
"I requested you."
"And I request that you stop wasting my time at my job that you disrespected then and you are disrespecting right now."
"I didn't mean to."
She ignores him. She gets one more quip in before Mateo is wheeling Connor away. "Oh, Connor, I almost forgot - are there any 21 year olds we need to call to let them know you're okay?"
She hears a muffled laugh behind her. She turns to see Jack, elbows on the counter of the nurses station, pretending to be engrossed in his charting. She goes to plop down in the seat in front of him.
"Eavesdropping is impolite, you know?"
"I don't know what you are talking about"
"My standup career, remember?"
Jack grins at her, his eyes soft and then he does the unimaginable. He winks at her. Like he is acknowledging he got caught listening in on her conversation with Connor. She almost falls out of her chair. He seems perfectly fine, walking around the nurses station to grab one of the tablets.
"Didn't know your boyfriend was a hockey super star." He speaks up from behind her.
"Ex boyfriend."
She feels his breath on the back of her neck before she hears him. His tone is low and almost sensual, "Good." is all he says before he's walking away.
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷
She doesn't know who is squeezing her harder - Dana or Collins. The moment she stepped into the bar they were running over, squeezing the living shit out of her and whispering 'Congratulations' into her ear.
"Congratulations on what?" She laughed.
"Graduating residency!"
It was tradition, every summer when the residents graduated, the attendings took the team out to celebrate on their tab. Legend has it, there used to be a graduation ceremony with speeches and presents and an open bar. But due to budget cuts, Abbot and Robby had to take matters into their own hands - and credit cards.
"Oh and Robby has a surprise for you." Collins added.
"Oh no. If it's anything like the surprise he gave you last year then I decline! She is so damn cute though." Robby and Collins won't actually admit that their baby girl was conceived on this same night last year but the rest of the pitt crew have decided to make it canon.
"Before I hand you this drink, I need you to sign this. If you want, obviously" Robby interrupts - the world's largest grin on his face.
"Sign wha-" The realization dawns on her mid sentence. It's her offer letter to become an attending at the pitt.
"Seriously?"
"Seriously. Absolutely sparkling, shining letter of recommendation from Dr Jack Abbot, by the way. He never writes those. Almost gave Gloria a heart attack with that one.” Robby winks at her as he hands her a pen.
She signs. They cheer. They hug. They cry a little bit. Happy tears - at the idea they now get to spend more time together rather than one of them getting shipped off to a different city for a new job.
She can’t remember the last time she was this happy. And a lot of it has to do with someone who isn’t even here yet. She spots him walking in and her feet are carrying her over to him before her brain can tell her to stop.
A smile appears on Jack’s face when he sees her. She’s not in scrubs or workout clothes - although she looks just as beautiful in those.
She’s in a white sundress and sandals. Her hair wavy and her cheeks tinged pink and laden with freckles. He noticed hers come out more in the summer time, just like his.
They’ve never really hugged before but she’s throwing her arms around his neck to hug him hello and his arms wrap around her waist like it’s the most natural thing in the world. He’s so close he can smell her lip gloss and he wants to kiss it off of her more than anything.
He settles for, “I heard I have a new colleague.”
“Aren’t you lucky?”
“Very.”
Then she’s pulled over to chat with her fellow residents. Abbot over by Robby and some of the other attendings.
Drink after drink, people start to fall off. She joins Collins and Dana and eventually the boys make their way over as well. Everyone is making bets on who is going to go home with who.
Santos goes home with Garcia. Easy money. Same for Victoria and Mateo. Langdon goes home alone and sober - thank goodness. Dana’s husband picks her up and Collins and Robby have to go relieve their baby sitter.
Robby sets his half finished beer in front of her, “Here, finish my beer. Don’t wanna waste it.”
She grimaces and Collins cackles, “Robby, you know she hates beer!”
Then they were gone. Jack wore the world’s cockiest smirk on his face and they were alone.
“So did you hate beer that day on the roof too?”
“Wouldn’t you like to know.”
The bar is shutting down so Jack pays the tab and they make their way out into the sticky, summer air.
“Come on - I’ll drive you home.”
They’re walking so close their hands brush about five times on the short walk to the car.
She turns to Jack before he can open her passenger side door but he was one step ahead of her. He’s practically an inch away from her as he speaks.
“You know there used to be an actual graduation ceremony for the residents. With presents. So I got you something.”
“You didn’t have to-“
Jack just places the small box in her hands. He takes her purse so she has free hands to tug the ribbon and open the present.
She gasps - her dad’s dog tags. Presumably, the real ones. She can’t even form words, “How did you even-“
“Called in a couple favors.”
A couple of tears fall because this is the absolute nicest, most thoughtful thing anyone has ever done for her. Jack is hesitant in his reach but the loving look in her eyes spurs him on. His hand cradles her cheek, wipes away her tears.
“Jack-“
“Yeah.” His voice is clipped, out of breath, expectant - hanging off her every word.
She nods her head, almost to encourage herself, before looking back up to him, “I’m going to have to get a new job if I am totally reading this wrong but I think I’m in love with you.”
“Thank fucking goodness.” And then he’s grabbing the box out of her hands, placing it and her purse on the hood of the car before his hands are on her. Kissing her with every ounce of pent up longing from the past three years.
She’s pressed against the passenger seat of his car, her hands in his hair and his cupping her face.
Eventually, his forehead falls to hers as he whispers against her lips, his hands resting on her waist. “I love you.”
“I’ve pictured this so many times.”
“You won’t believe the things that I’ve seen in my head. Wait until you see half the things that haven’t happened yet.”
“Well then why don’t you show me, Jack.”
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷
He’d already pulled an orgasm from her using his thigh - had her pressed against his front door.
“God, you’re fucking perfect. I can’t believe I get to se you like this.” All she can do is let out a low moan in response.
Her body felt like it was on fire. Since they’d moved into the bed he’d made her finish on his fingers and now was eating her like she was his last meal.
She tugged at his curls, finally, after imaging it so many times. He groaned into her, inserting another finger and sending her over the edge.
“Oh - Jack! Oh my god-“
“There she is - my good girl.”
He’s insatiable and who is she kidding - so is she. He’s kissing up her body, pinning her hands above her head.
“Jack, I need to feel you. Please.”
His hand lightly wrapped around her neck. He whispered in her ear, “God, I love you.” And then he’s kissing her forehead and sliding into her all at once.
“Holy shit - you’re so fucking tight. So fucking perfect.”
“I love you.”
“Say it again.”
“I love you.”
Neither of them last much longer. She’s on orgasm #4 and he’s on #2 (she’s been waiting for years - she couldn’t not suck him off the first chance she had).
“I’ve never orgasmed that many times before.”
“Pretty good for an old man, huh?”
“All that yoga must be paying off.”
They laugh - all that yoga is paying off far more than either of them could have ever imagined.

having some barely formed thoughts about the three severed women we know of (excluding o&d) and how they're all sort of experiencing their own misogynist hellscape and how severance not only exacerbates the existing struggles of women but reduces those women down to nothing but their suffering
gabby's innie exists purely to gestate and give birth to children and then is switched off again and never gets to raise or even meet her child until her husband decides it's time for the next one. episode 7 suggests gabby is not the only woman who has done this to herself. how many female innies exist just to be a walking baby incubator?
gemma is quite literally in hell. dozens of versions of her are being subjected to physical or psychological torture at the hands of the same white guy, at least one of which is in an endless performance of housewifery, her body given over to the hands of strangers, and she has to willingly walk into each room knowing anything could be happening to her in there and she will never know what, only that her alternate selves have literally never known anything except suffering. you did it to yourself, you asked for this.
and even when she tries to free herself she is immediately sent back by one of these innies who literally does not know what is going on and why she's here, and doesn’t know enough to question what she's being told. these women she becomes do not have the tools, the knowledge or agency, to fight back. if you'd known better, you'd have stopped it. why didn't you stop it? why weren't you smarter about it? why weren't you more careful?
tell me you love me before you go, sweetheart
and helly. she's more complicated but there's really something to be said about helena, a woman that by all accounts should see her as a sister, and uses that very idea to propagandise herself and inflate her own status, but in reality does not even see helly as human - she is constantly at the mercy of a woman far more affluent and powerful than herself who feigns care for her to the masses whilst happily subjecting her to torture. and then without that support from another woman, without that sense of solidarity, she seeks refuge in the arms of a man who can somewhat understand what she's going through because that feels like her only option, to gain approval or social standing through a man, but even that is hollow and it is soured by the very woman she is at the mercy of competing with her for that same man. she has been forced to place all her bets on the love of a man, like that'll prove she's real and worth something, and even that she can't have for herself
severance is used in all of these cases as a means of further dehumanising, objectifying, and reducing women down to their base biological functions and forces them to subject themselves to the whims of men. all in totally unique ways but all very real experiences that women go through every day, crytallised by having it quite literally be all they exist for. severance as just another tool to exert violence upon women
#im sure someone much smarter than me can articulate this better#im sure ive missed something also#just. im gonna get you out of there girls. i promise#severance#severance spoilers#meta tag#gemma scout#helena eagan#helly r#ask to tag

Neglected omega reader who got taken care of by someone else. Nikolai or Konig. The drama ✨✨
I hope i did KorTac justice, I’ve never written them before except König lol @nightunite pspspsps i have nikto crumbs 🙏🏻
Neglected omega reader p1 + p2
KorTac had always liked you.
From the very first moment they’d met you, they’d been drawn in- pulled by the quiet gravity of your presence and the sharp edge of your competence. You were quick on your feet, sharp with a knife, steady under pressure. Smart and resourceful in a way that demanded respect.
But more than that?
You had heart.
You’d been assigned to their unit during a joint operation months ago. Just a temporary deployment, only meant to last a few weeks, but it had been long enough for them to notice things- little things they hadn’t been able to forget.
The way you’d patched König up without hesitation after a mission went sideways, hands steady even as blood slicked your fingers. The way you’d shared your rations with Horangi after a supply drop came in light, brushing off his protests with a stubborn glare. The way you’d sat quietly beside Nikto on watch, not asking questions when he didn’t feel like talking but always ready to listen when he did.
They noticed you, and they liked what they saw.
Liked the way you worked. Liked the way you took care of your team without ever expecting anything in return. Liked the way you carried yourself- confident but kind. Fierce but soft.
But you weren’t theirs. Couldn’t be.
You belonged to 141, and KorTac had backed off, unwilling to overstep boundaries when you already had a pack waiting for you at home. They’d told themselves it was fine- they were fine- watching from a distance.
But then you came back.
Alone.
Hollow-eyed and sharp-edged, moving like a ghost through the halls of the base, and suddenly?
All bets were off.
The first time König sees you in such a state, it’s in the corridor outside the mess hall.
You don’t look up when he walks by, don’t even seem to notice the sheer weight of his presence as he slows, lingering just long enough to let his shadow stretch over you. You’re leaning against the wall like you’re trying to hold yourself together, arms wrapped tight around your middle, shoulders curled inward. Small. Smaller than he’s ever seen you look before. Smaller than he’d ever thought he’d ever see you.
His instincts itch- Omega, alone, hurting- but you’re not his. And still…
His eyes track the tired slump of your shoulders, the way your clothes hang loose, like you’ve been skipping meals. He scents the air. Picks up the faded traces of peach and rose, but there’s something sour underneath- bitter and wrong, like spoiled fruit. König’s stomach twists.
It’s the scent of neglect.
You should never have looked like this. You should have never smelled like this.
Not you. Not the Omega who had once dragged him out of the line of fire without hesitation, barking orders and holding the line until reinforcements arrived. Not the Omega who had once laughed with him under a tin roof during a monsoon, eyes bright.
The smell lingers after he walks away, clinging to the back of his throat like smoke. But it’s the emptiness of it- the hollowness- that keeps him awake that night, staring at the ceiling and wondering which one of those 141 bastards let their Omega rot like this.
The next time König sees you, it’s in the armory.
You’re cataloging weapons, checking and re-checking the tags with mechanical precision, but your hands shake when you reach for the next one. Just a little. Just enough for him to notice.
König moves closer. Quiet, but not too quiet- he doesn’t want to startle you. You don’t look up until his shadow stretches over your workbench, and when you do, the look in your eyes hits him like a gut-punch.
Flat. Guarded. Resigned.
Like you’re expecting him to scold you.
König’s heart cracks wide open. He grips the edge of the table just to keep from reaching out.
“Doing good work.” He says softly, and you just blink.
It’s such a small thing- barely even a compliment- but your throat bobs like you’re swallowing something down. Then you duck your head and go back to your task, not looking at him again.
But you don’t flinch.
Not this time.
Nikto is next, and he doesn’t hesitate.
He remembers you. Remembers the way you’d stood shoulder to shoulder with him in the rain, eyes scanning the horizon with sharp focus as you both waited for the enemy to make their move.
You hadn’t been scared. Not even a little.
And now?
He catches you outside the rec room, sitting on the stairs with your knees drawn up to your chest. You don’t even react when he approaches, just keep staring at the floor like it might swallow you whole.
Now, you look like you’re drowning.
So Nikto doesn’t hesitate. He doesn’t say anything. Just crouches down beside you and sets a cup of coffee at your feet before walking away.
You stare at it for almost five minutes before finally picking it up.
The next morning, he does it again. Same cup. Same coffee. Same wordless offering.
It becomes a routine- something quiet and steady, something you can rely on when everything else feels too heavy.
And then there’s Horangi, who pushes the hardest.
He pushes, because he knows you can take it.
You had before- back when you’d yelled at him for ignoring orders and running off alone, eyes blazing as you shoved him back toward the evac point. He’d liked your fire back then, liked the way you didn’t back down even when he towered over you.
But now?
Now your fire’s gone out, and there’s only one group to blame.
So Horangi pushes. Tests the waters, pokes at the edges, trying to find the spark he knows is still there. He is the loudest of the three, sharp and quick with his words, but he also knows when to keep them soft. He finds you cleaning your gear one night and sits down beside you without asking.
“You missed dinner.” He says casually, pulling out a protein bar and tossing it onto your lap. Pushing past the bubble you’ve wrapped around yourself, yet not being overbearing or too much.
You open your mouth to argue, but he cuts you off.
“I’m not your Alpha,” he says with a shrug. “You don’t have to listen to me.”
You close your mouth. Look down at the protein bar. Then, without a word, you tear it open and take a bite.
Horangi grins. And just like that, he’s in.
And when you finally- finally- smile at one of his jokes?
He knows he’s got you.
141 starts noticing the shift almost immediately. Soap catches König lingering near you in the gym, eyes following the curve of your spine as you stretch, and something inside him snaps.
Ghost sees Nikto brush his fingers against yours when he hands you something, and his jaw clenches so tight he can hear his teeth grind.
Price overhears Horangi making you laugh- a real, honest-to-God laugh, a sound he can’t hear any longer even in his dreams- and has to excuse himself before he says something he can’t take back.
It gets worse when your scent starts to change; the bitterness fades first, then the sourness.
The first time Price catches a hint of warmth blooming underneath, it stops him dead in his tracks.
Because it isn’t for him. It isn’t for them.
It’s even worse to know that they drove you to it, and have no one to blame but themselves.
They let you fall through the cracks. Let the weight of their own issues and distractions leave you stranded in the dark, too far away for them to pull you back when they finally noticed you were gone.
And now? Now KorTac is picking up the pieces, with no hesitation.
König steadies you. Makes sure you eat, makes sure you rest, makes sure you feel safe even when the world outside is crumbling. Doesn’t push you away when you, big hand lingering on the curve of your spine until his scent is left there.
Nikto grounds you. Offers quiet comfort without demands, without expectations. Makes sure you know he’s there, always there, steady and unshakable. A lighthouse in the stormy seas, the hand that pulls you out of the swirling ocean.
Horangi pushes and pushes. Draws out smiles and laughter, reminds you what it feels like to be wanted. Finds excuses to bump shoulders or brush against you when you pass, just to see if you’ll let him.
And you do. You let all of them, slowly greeting them with the quietest little purr (cat activation noise).
Because it’s easier to be wanted by them than it is to be unwanted by your own pack.
And slowly- so slowly it hurts- you start to come back to life; your scent changes. Softens. Warms. The bitterness fades and the sourness disappears.
And all they can do is only watch as König takes the space they abandoned. As Nikto feeds the hunger they ignored. As Horangi brings back the fire they let burn out.
And they can’t do a damn thing about it.
Because the truth is- KorTac wanted you from the start, and now that they’ve got you?
They’re never letting go.

I have been reading a lot of headcanons of the justice league, my favorites are when batman reveals his identity but only to....Green arrow
It's so fun because imagine if for any reason Batman is forced to reveal his identity and everyone thinks he will choose Superman or/and Wonderwoman (because you know THE trinity, the dream team) BUT NO, he chooses green arrow
at this point the justice league already put aside whatever they were doing and start questioning batman, that is to say without hate towards Ollie but he is not the most secretive, nor the most competent, I mean HE IS NOT EVEN THE CLOSEST TO BATMAN, so yes, even Oliver is wondering why him?
and then without anything else Batman does or says some kind of code, at that moment everyone thinks that he must have already lost his mind when they hear the BIGGEST gasp from none other than Green Arrow, now he is running to hug Batman jumping and holding on like a koala while screaming
"WHY YOU NEVER SAID IT BEFORE SILLY"
"so you understand?"
"OF COURSE I UNDERSTAND IT'S OUR SUPER SECRET SUPER BEST FRIENDS CODE"
That's when J'onn leaves the room because he's not going to deal with the nonsense that these supposed heroes are thinking, the earth is doomed with these fools
Flash is screaming terrified that someone replaced Batman and brainwashed Ollie
Aquaman and Captain Marvel are pretending to know whatever is going on because they totally didn't sleep for half of the meeting
Black Canary's eyes are so wide and she looks like she had an epiphany from something Ollie said
Green Lantern still doesn't get over the fact that Batman is revealing his identity? (of course in such a weird way that only one of them understands, fuck him) but at the end of the day revealing his identity?
Wonder Woman and Superman are having a crisis and they are GREEN with envy, because not only did Batman reveal his identity to Green Arrow of all people, but he is also HUGGING him (also, they are the Bat's best friends, thank you very much)
Then Oliver, oblivious to everything, finishes by saying
"Wait, this means I kissed THE KNIGHT OF GOTHAM, THE BATMAN?, wow B you are killing me"
everyone explodes
totally based on this amazing post
