Character Inspirations

Aaron’s facial structure is inspired by Tyler of Total Drama, but I don’t have that kind of space.

Development

Aaron’s initial design was a completely different beast. He was a cerise/burgundy color and looked far more intimidating, his concept being a huge, menacing looking guy who was actually fairly chill and introspective. The general gist of his character was reused for Brick, who still looks completely different from him.

By the time he actually appeared in Rough Sketch, Barry/Aaron had a drastically different execution as a guy who looked physically imposing but was actually kind of a doofus. He’d gone far from his original idea, but I liked the character so much I turned him to a more recognizable maroon shade and initially renamed him Rooney. Despite now being a literal maroon, he’s far smarter and more adept than his bumbling RS incarnation.

“So, what am I?” he asks, voice raw.

His body hurt in more ways than he can count, the IV drip the only thing keeping him almost coherent. The doctor looks over a screen, making him question if his question was heard. He opens his mouth to ask again, perchance louder. The doctor holds up a hand, silencing him.

“Technically, you are still the same simple minded Agent you were before,” he answers, almost like he was talking to a puppy. “Just one with a few little tweaks and modifications.”

“Am I an android now?” he asks.

“No, you still have plenty of,” he seems to hold back a retch. “Organic components.” He hmms. “If we have to get technical, you are a cyborg now.” He waved his hand in the air. “I wouldn’t even bother try and explain it all if you weren’t drugged up.”

He sits in the lone chair, backwards, arms crossed on the back of the chair so he can rest his chin on something softer than hospital plastic. Can that man do anything normal? It would be almost comical if he wasn’t having a crisis.

“You are still the same Agent to me Stone,” he growls. “You think some government lackey was in charge of your” he gestures at him as a whole. “Operations. Fat chance I would let anybody near such a delicate operation.” 

The doctor reaches over and he flinches before he realises the doctor is simply brushing his hair from his face. It was almost comforting, damn right tender the way he was holding his face in his gloved hand.

“Why are you being so,” he swallows thickly. “Nice to me?”

“Because you won’t remember any of it,” the doctor announces with a free hand. He gestures at the IV drip. “Special blend will wipe this all away in the morning.”

Eyelids suddenly heavy, he barely gets out a muttered “motherfu” before falling back onto the pillow. As he slips into unconscious, he feels the barest sensation of a gloved hand interlacing with his hand.

Quick headcanon that at some point, the Justice League makes a time-off calendar for every time a leaguer is busy and needs someone to keep their city safe while they’re gone. Maybe they have a work trip or a family thing or even some vacation they planned.

All a hero has to do is request time off, and another member will sub in while they’re gone. The only problem is that it creates a pattern. It would be suspicious if Green Arrow is only replaced when Oliver Queen is on a business trip, right? So to keep the public on their toes, JL members are encouraged to take a random day off each month or so and switch out with no rhyme or reason. Just any random day, any random hour.

The outcome is complete chaos.

Clark Kent has the pleasure of interviewing Wonder Woman at the scene of a car chase she just stopped in Metropolis.

Some muggers in Star City are scooped up into a giant glowing cage while Green Lantern riddles off bird puns to an exasperated Black Canary.

A team of robbers hit a bank in Central City but get roasted by Plastic Man for their poor their safe-cracking skills as they’re taken into custody.

Black Manta uses his high tech weaponry to wreak havoc in the Atlantic only to be hit with a torpedo as the Bat-Sub dives towards him at full speed.

Cyborg is lecturing a group of teen vandals in Fawcett City when Captain Marvel just waltzes up, says, “I’m tapping back in,” and continues the lecture where he left off.

Complete. And. Utter. Chaos. No one knows who will show up at the scene now, not even the cops, but criminals are scared shitless.

The JL decides to keep the calendar. If only for entertainment.

The thing about Dick Grayson is that he has such a unique quality that just draws people in and holds them captive.

He has a charisma that's intense. People from all walks of life find themselves just constantly looking at him for friendship, advice, love, guidance, and just something that calls them to him.

It's the impact he has on people that's astounding.

They love him so much and they respect him so much that his absence is like a huge gaping hole in their chest. People feel lost without him because they've come to rely so heavily on him. Gar and Steel literally only joined because Dick asked.

This is something Roy catches on to and is well-aware of. He practically hounds Dick into creating the Outsiders with him.

Dick isn't just a person. He's a home. He's the guiding hand and the ship's steer control. He's special to people because he's everything they want him to be. He's their lover, best friend, brother, and partner. Whatever role they're missing in life they find it him him because he makes himself versatile enough to fill whatever they're looking for.
