Note SPOILERS FOR UNDER THE RED HOOD: UtRH been on my mind so i thought of some childhood friends reunion in that universe. This was after he confronted bruce about the joker, u can tell he very tired poor bby :(

Damian had never seen another person his age before.

“Wow, you're good at that.”

Damian froze in his practice and looked over at the boy. It was after his lesson, his instructor had other students to teach, and Damian had his own private training area. Well, it was supposed to be private. “Who are you?”

“Danny, what's your name?”

Damian glared at the boy. Who doesn't know who he is? “I am Damian Al-Ghoul, grandson of the Demon's Head, son of the Bat, heir to the League of Assassins.”

“Wow, that's a lot... Can I just call you Damian?”

“Servants call me Master. How did you get here?”

Danny shrugged, “I was just looking around.”

“Just looking around...”

“Yeah, my parents are in the science lab down in the bottom basement with the weird lake and I was helping them, but then I got board and Jazz said I wasn't allowed to leave the lab, but when I asked Dad, he said I could do what I want as long as I don't get in trouble.”

“Oh, the idiot scientists.” Damian remembered how his mother had described the new scientists hired to study the Lazarus Pools. A pair of geniuses when it came to the scientific study of magic but idiots in all other fields. Surely only idiots would bring their children to live with the League of Assassins.

“What do you mean? If you're a scientist you can't be an idiot?”

Damian huffed at the boy. “You can be smart at one thing and dumb at others. Like you could be good at reading but bad at numbers.”

“Oh, I guess that makes sense. But I'm pretty good at reading and numbers.” Danny then smiled brightly, “It looks like you're really good at swording though.”

“It's called swordplay. And yes, I am good at it. Better at it at my age than many who are older.”

“Can you show me how to do it?”

Damian contemplated for a moment, “As long as you don't get in the way of my practice, I don't see why not.”

Danny cheered as he ran up to where Damian was standing, but Damian pointed to the side of the training area, “There should be a spare sword over there you can use.”

Danny nodded and ran to get it then ran back.

Damian wasn't sure if he'd like showing Danny how to use a sword, but he liked how Danny followed all his instructions. It was different than how the servants followed his orders, but Damian couldn't place why. It became common place, for Danny to show up after Damian's lessons and Damian would show him what he'd learned. It actually made learning new things easier because Damian had to figure out how exactly something worked in order to show Danny how to do it. Not only that, but when they practiced the moves on each other, Danny would change them and make it harder to beat him. Damian did win every time, but Danny wasn't half bad.

"Uhp-uhp-bup-bup." Danny says loudly, cutting off the crime lord bleeding all over his living room. He presses a finger to his lips, despite knowing that Red couldn't see it, and stifles his rage behind a playful smile.

He's lucky he's facing the kitchen, his back turned to Hood. He can see the fury green of his eyes reflecting back at him in the chrome of the sink, he's threatening to crush the rag in his hands. His vision is futzing out in the corners of eyes.

"We don't speak the 'J' name in this household." He says in almost a sing-song, because if he doesn't, then the Gotham oil sitting, boiling, behind his teeth and coating his tongue will spittle out and Danny's already haunting his apartment just by his mere presence. He doesn't want to haunt it more.

He can hear the whine of the lightbulbs, threatening to burst like a popped balloon. He turns the water off and and rings the rag out tighter than he perhaps should.

"You don't like the clown?" Hood asks him, and Danny's not sure if he's mocking him for it. There's a knowing lilt in his voice that throws back Danny to their first meeting on that balcony. If he were anyone else, Danny might've just punched him.

His heel turns sharply towards him, a tight smile on his face and an even tighter look around his eyes. At least he knows that the green has faded because the pounding behind his eyes are gone, his grief-born, death-made rage sizzling back beneath his veins. "I think you already know why, Ridin' Hood."

A grief like this don't stay buried, after all.

Childhood friend queer platonic autistic Jayrose is so fucking important to me. Because like, Jason had to learn to be self sufficient from a young age and he's been consistently been parentified by the adults who he was supposed to be able to rely on most during his most formative years. And Rose was taught how to stand up for herself, she learned that she had to be self serving to survive by Slade and the conditions her mom's death forced her into.

So now fast forward and they're both on the teen Titans due to their older brothers who they have complicated relationships with. And Rose doesn't speak English very well yet and the buzz of the city puts all of her weird new senses on overdrive and suddenly she's seeing things happen before they happen. And Jason is too small for his age and doc says he probably won't get much bigger but he's Robin and Robin has to be strong. So he fights like he did on the streets, like this could be his next meal or not, because maybe it is. What is he without Robin?

They both keep to themselves at first. Rose hides in her room or behind Joey, because she doesn't really understand American sign language yet, but his touch is always gentle and she's good at seeing what other people miss. Used to analyzing the small changes in peoples stance and face, never quite able to trust peoples words. And Jason hides away in the small book nook in the tower or the training room and he tries to be as small as he can when not on missions. He's always been good at being unnoticed.

But maybe one night Rose gets a vision, one of the bad ones that make her head ache and her eyes burn. And Jason is in the kitchen, woken up from another nightmare about phantom hands and lifeless eyes. And Rose sees the boy everyone else leaves alone, the one who reads the books with the complicated words and moves like a ghost.

And Jason turns and sees the girl with the ceaseless eyes and stiff words, he can't help remembering the stories of changelings when he looks at her. And they freeze, but then the timer for the cinnamon rolls he stress baking goes off. And so they sit there, in the Titans kitchen with cinnamon rolls and iced tea and they tell each other their names. They both sleep a little lighter that night.

What if it was Ghost king AU too?? And now all 10 of his kids (Yes, im including Ellie) are considered princes and princesses.

So everyone expects them to have "the battle for succession" like every cliche royal family. Only, they make their own little twist. None of them want to inherit the crown.

So their little sibling rivalry stems from all of them plotting to make the others the next ruler! (The Batfam easily takes note of this part of their interaction but think they're the typical "i want the throne" royals. Especially Damian cuz he really wants to be the next Batman)

Ps. Danny, unlike cliche kings, do NOT want ANY of his children to inherit the crown. But his kids think he does! They even think he wants Ellie to be the crowned princess because she's CLEARLY the only blood child! (Ellie knows what Danny actually wants so she accepted the title for show)

Bruce is enjoying not being the only dad that's getting gray hairs from his kids cuz Danny def has it worse. (Him and Alfred know what's going on on both sides)

“Oh,” [Atsumu] said, glancing up. “That happened.”

Then, to the team’s bemusement, he just blinked once before going back to flipping the croquettes.

Suzuki was the first to speak up, eyes wide. “Isn’t your twin brother up there?” he exclaimed.

Atsumu didn’t even blink this time. “Samu’ll survive. He always seems to, anyway."

“But can he survive an explosion on the roof??”

“If he can survive the kotatsu monster, then yeah.”

Atsumu seemed oblivious to the rest of the baseball team’s incredulity as they stared at him. Is something cracked in Miya’s head...?

There was a sudden bang at the door, and Atsumu stumbled in, breathing harshly. The minute he caught his breath, he straightened up and pointed at the Earth Defense Club at large accusingly, shouting, "You guys infected me!"

The third years barely blinked. Io and Ryuu didn't even deign to look up from their tablet and phone, respectively. Meanwhile, Osamu looked up from the food blog he was browsing through on his phone, unimpressed. "Says you and your sweaty baseball germs, 'Tsumu."

"What germs?" Yumoto asked at almost the same moment, visibly confused as he ceased squishing Wombat with a cuddle.

For a long moment, Kita didn’t say anything. His expression was one of deep consideration, as though he was carefully weighing the options he had.

To join, or to not join? In Kinshirou’s view, this should have been easy to decide. If Kita Shinsuke joined, he would have a position of greater authority and responsibility than his current place in the Defense Club. From there, the influence of the other three Student Council members would capitalize further on his seeming maturity and propriety, which would surely only benefit Kita’s standing in the long run.

Of course, this was just Kinshirou’s view, as it turned out.

“I’m sorry.”

Kita was facing them now, his expression calm as always. To be more accurate, he appeared calm, yet decisive. “I am pleased that you thought highly enough of me to extend this offer,” he began. “But I’ll have to decline. It seems like a lot of responsibility, and I won’t be suited for it.”

Kinshirou had to fight to keep a severe frown from overtaking his face at the blatant rejection. Did that slovenly Yufuin’s influence overtake Kita already...? was his first thought, displeasure coursing through him.

(dp x dc) people are replying to my post about how dumb the "danny and damian are secretly brothers" trope is by saying it should be tim instead, but what would the context for that even be? with damian youve got the whole runaway assassin story, with jason they couldve gotten separated on the streets, and dick comes from a literal travelling circus, but tim had a normal childhood. which brings me to the following proposal for a "danny and tim are brothers" AU: they arent biologically related but were switched at birth

it's canon that tim's parents travelled a lot, so they could have made a stop at amity park when janet went into labor. she gives birth at the same hospital that maddie does, the babies look similar, and both of their dads are named jack, so no one notices the mix-up as it happens. danny grows up feeling like the only normal person in his family, while tim "tried to clone his dead best friend 99 times" drake gets his mad scientist streak from the fentons

What about Jazz?

Since I understand everyone's villain alter ego is based around their trauma and becoming their own antithesis and what not, I'd like to think that Jazz's alter ego would be a bad girl, kinda like Ember and Kitty (the former who mind controlled her twice and the latter who almost took her place while slowly corrupting her), maybe with a hint of Spectra (the school councilor thing, the hospital thing, and that one time with all three of them).

Instead of being the nice, normal girl who tries to be perfect, she's a loose cannon who does all the wild teen stuff, doesn't care about anyone accept for those who are in her 'gang', and will absolutely resort to violence the first chance she gets. Maybe she also has some kind of mind control powers, given how these incidents relate to her being under someone else's control.

Maybe she doesn't come around as often, because she has college and the like, but once she does, things get messy as she takes the chance to let out all her school related stress.

Jazz had almost no childhood since she helped raise Danny from a very young age. She's intelligent and respectful and really wants to be an excellent example for Danny, so she acts as such. Therefore, Jazz never got to go through her 'teenage rebellion' phase. She wears modest clothes and upholds a pretty solid moral code. So here I present Nightingale, the punk-rock social justice warrior who comes and goes like a hurricane. She takes on the name Nightingale to avoid confusion, but once the JL realizes she and Fenton are related, some of the members consider going on a very long vacation to another world so they don't have to deal with this shit.

Now for her powerset, I'm not entirely sure if she should play meta or not. It's a common trope in fics that Jazz has been ecto-contaminated from her parent's experiments, thus giving her some sort of body enhancement. I played on that to give her a set of ears and teeth that match Danny's. She may not have ghost powers, but if she's fighting alongside Team Phantom, she must have some freaky abilities, right? (I love the mind control idea, btw) I feel like Jazz would be the Exception, where she's obviously enhanced in some way, but it's not an obvious power she can consciously separate herself from. It's like trying to tell your body to stop using your eyes. Unless other outside forces are preventing it, Jazz can't really not use her enhanced strength or speed. It drives the JL nuts because either Nightingale is a very weak meta or just an Olympic-level teenage athlete, and no one will spill the beans.

Also, this is personal preference, honestly, but I think it'd be really fucking funny if the DC universe is where Jazz and Danny have all their sibling fights. At home, they have to put up a united front so their parents don't get suspicious and the house doesn't kill them. (Also so none of the rogues takes advantage of their anger at each other) But they're siblings. Even if Jazz and Danny are the best of friends, they have to have arguments over the stupidest stuff. That's practically rule number one of having a sibling. So they go there to blow off steam and duke it out like they've always wanted to. It's mostly to release tension and stress, but each fight is getting more and more elaborate, and this whole thing is ridiculous. None of the heroes get paid enough for this. They're just gonna sit back and watch the show.

No, no, no, no, NO!

He's shaking. His heart is burning in his chest, pounding like a jackhammer against his ribs, and there's a trembling, aching rage building beneath his tongue and pressing against his teeth.

In his hands, his fingers tense and wrists locked, the article reads in big, black font: JOKER LOCKED IN ARKHAM ASYLUM AGAIN!

Danny shouldn't feel so angry about this, this is a good thing. Gotham doesn't have to deal with him for another few months at the least. He should feel relieved, a little more at peace.

He is not.

He cannot swallow the fury thudding behind his eyes, the burning white heat searing a deeper hole in his chest. A searing green filling static in his ears in the way only the rage of the restless dead can have.

How is he going to kill him now?

Arkham may be the only asylum in America made entirely of tissue paper, but it's still an asylum. There are cameras, guards, other patients resting inside. Danny can think of a million different ways to sneak in and kill Joker, but someone will hear his screaming.

It'd have to be rushed.

He doesn't want it to be rushed.

It's a cruel thought. Cruel and cold and merciless, but Danny doesn't feel an ounce of shame, not an ounce of guilt, for it. He wants to be alone with the Joker when he kills him, that's all he wants. In Arkham, you are never alone.

He forces his anger to bubble back down into his chest, stuffing it between his heartstrings and his ribs like a blanket you're trying to bunch up into a corner. It sizzles and burbles. The static begins to fade out into a high-pitched ringing; it sounds like distant screaming.

Danny is still trembling, but he can think a little clearer now.

He can wait.

He can wait. He can wait. He can wait. He canwait. Hecanwait. Hecanwait.

He can wait.

He's waited five years for this. He can wait one more week. One more month. One more year. However long it takes for the Joker to break back out, Danny can wait.

And when the Joker does, inevitably, break out.

Danny uncrinkles his fingers around the edges of the newspaper, loosens his limbs just enough so he can pay for it.

He'll be waiting.

The dead, after all, have all the time in the world.
