Remus is sitting in an armchair doubled over with laughter. Sirius has fallen out of his chair and is cackling on the floor with tears in his eyes from laughing so hard. Regulus is sitting on the couch trying his best to stay composed. And James in standing in the middle of the room with more passion and fire in his eyes than Regulus has ever seen.

“Hold on! Hold on! Hold on!” James is shouting.

“James—” Regulus tries to calmly interrupt.

“HOLD ON!” James looks pointedly at Regulus and his eyes look like they’re going to literally pop out of his head. “Her sister was a witch, right?” Regulus is trying so hard to hold back his laughter. “And what was her sister? A princess! The Wicked Witch of the East, Reg.” James is yelling, not unkindly just very passionately, looking directly at Regulus and nodding his head aggressively to emphasize every point.

James starts pacing in genuine distress. Sirius is rolling on the floor holding his stomach and laughing so hard his entire body is shaking. Remus has his hands over his mouth, which is doing absolutely nothing to contain his laughter.

Regulus stands up to meet James in the middle of the room. “I’m gonna stab him.” He mumbles under his breath, which makes Sirius laugh even harder—if that’s even possible.

James whips around to face Regulus. “You’re gonna looks at me and you’re gonna tell me that I’m wrong? Am I wrong?” James asks emphatically.

And the thing is—James is, in fact, very wrong. “It’s my favorite—” Regulus tries to interject but can’t even get a word in.

“She wore a crown, and she came down in a bubble, Reg!” And that proves absolutely nothing.

Regulus knows he’ll never get James to listen to him. “I’m not fighting with you.” He shakes his head, chuckling fondly.

James makes his way out of the living room. “Grow up!” He says over his shoulder.

“I’m not fighting with you.” Regulus says again.

“Grow up.” James seems to be losing steam as he leaves the room.

“Get educated!” Regulus yells then flops down on the couch and finally lets his laughter out.

Eventually Regulus, Sirius and Remus’ laugher fades into soft chuckles as they calm down and take several deep breaths to compose themselves.  

It’s a few minutes later when James appears in the doorway with a sheepish look on his face—that Regulus thinks is adorable. He slowly makes his way over to the couch and sits down beside Regulus. He’s quiet for a few moments then turns slightly to look at Regulus.   

“I’m not really mad.” James says in a small voice. “And you know I love you, right?”

Regulus chuckles fondly and takes James’ face in his hands. “Yes, I know you love me, Jamie.” He leans in to kiss James softly then pulls back the tiniest bit. “But you’re still wrong.” Regulus whispers against James lips.

Just rewatched Once, Upon Time, which might be my favourite episode out of the six that make up Flux (although it could really be any of them).

Yes, please, give me weird dreamy visuals, give me a convoluted structure that plays with time and reality, give me flash-backs and flash-forwards and flash-sideways into the companions' lives, give me goofy metaphorical concepts like an actual battle between Space and Time.

Yes, I love Neverland and Zagreus, how did you know. Speaking of which, the Temple of Atropos is definitely somehow connected to the Web of Time (it might even be the physical Web of Time itself), and I love the exploration as Time as an impossible force that's impossible to understand, just as much as I love the Anti-Time in Zagreus and Neverland. Chibnall is definitely taking a lot from these stories, but Time here has a completely different meaning on top of that as a textual embodiment of one of the many themes of Thirteen's era: time as un unstoppable and uncontrollable force that we are all subjects to (“I wish this could go on forever”, “I need more time. I want more time!”). How do we live, having to accept that fact? How do we deal with it? Which leads me to:

“Love is the only mission”. That is the answer this era gives. That's also why the Doctor has so many companions in this era, such a big fam. It might be the clearest in Power of the Doctor, where that power is love as in the love from the companions she met and inspired along the way. But it's also literally a line in this episode. The Daleks, the Cybermen, the Sontarans, they all have this need to conquer and to rule, which makes them fight even as the universe collapses to see who gets to be king of the garbage hill. But everything ends eventually, and still, life goes on. “And what then?”

The answer this era gives is love. Human connection. And that's not exclusive to Power of the Doctor or the exploration of Thasmin in the Specials or the story of Bel and Vinder (or Dan and Diane) in Flux. It's there in Series 11 and 12 too. In The Woman Who Fell to Earth, the first episode of the era, the Woman in the title is Grace. In Heaven Sent, the Doctor says “It’s funny. The day you lose someone isn’t the worst - at least you’ve got something to do. It’s all the days they stay dead.” And Series 11 and 12 are all about those days, months, years after Grace dies, and Ryan and Graham have to somehow go on in a life that feels incomplete. They travel in the TARDIS and, through the Doctor, connect with each other. There's already other much better posts on this site about Ryan's and Graham's arcs, how Orphan 55 is a turning point for Ryan in how he sees his own place in the world and his responsibility for it how Can You Hear Me makes him think about his connections here on Earth and how he has to be there for his mates, and how the 10 months they spend without the Doctor are what Ryan and Graham need to make sure that they're ready for life outside the TARDIS again. @ssaalexblake put it into beautiful words here.

There's a lot more to it in the Chibnall era / Thirteen's run, but Once, Upon Time is, imho, one of the episodes that encapsulates a lot of that, while also being a fun, convoluted, weird and trippy episode. I love it!

It was probably for the best they hadn’t gone any further as it was inevitable someone would walk in on them. He’d have to remember to thank Marlene when she was sober for her intrusion. 

They found Lily having a minute outside the back door. Inside had become uncomfortably warm, so Remus understood why.

“Hey, boys,” She beamed at them. “Are you enjoying the party?”

“Yes, well apart from Marlene being a pest, but that’s Marlene.”

“Encouraged by James, I bet,” Lily replied knowingly, a fond smile curling her lips. Remus returned her smile. 

“Of course. Oh!” He suddenly started. “I left your present in the car,” Sirius was already digging around in his pockets for his car keys. He placed them in Remus’s hand and Remus darted back through the house and out of the front door towards the car.  

He came back to find Lily cupping Sirius’s cheek and a tear sliding down her cheek. 

“You’re a good, sweet boy, I can tell that already,” She told Sirius. Remus paused, Sirius looked so vulnerable. What had happened in the minute he was gone? He didn’t want to break up this sweet moment, so he waited by the door.

“REMUS!!!” James bellowed as he came up behind him. Lily’s hand dropped from Sirius’s cheek, and they took a step away from each other, both wiping fallen tears from their faces. He crossed the space between them and wrapped his arms around Sirius’s shoulders, pressing a kiss onto the top of his curls. Yep, he’d fallen pretty hard for this man.

i watched kpop demon hunters today (and i really liked it!! the whimsy and the depth!! i realize i've missed silly little magical girl style media) and i've seen a lot of people clamoring for a sequel (which i feel like they will totally make based on director interviews) but like... is it just me or is there not also like a TON of potential for a prequel?? like yeah i know everybody wants jinu back but i feel like there are sooo many questions to be had about celine and the sunlight sisters and even rumi's dad?? and i feel like all of that would be so interesting to unpack too 😭😭 like i know everyone wants rumi and jinu to reuinte but pls tell me im not the only one seeing this 😭😭

still talking about the nuggets of actual Good Writing in sotm and i know its a text email with no voice acting or any actual tone, but that one message from william and the one good addition to his character when he's talking to the mcm staff lives in my brain. i forgot the post that brought it up where the OP says its like... slutty or smthn(??? :3??? i forgor the wording) and they probably meant it like sorta jokingly but no im not jokin' bitch

i don't care if sotm says he's a one dimensional evil loser who probably has no rizz, i'm clinging to my charming social chameleon william until i die. but like imagine an early 70s era late-20s william who's not only embraced the culture of the times, but uses it as a metaphorical weapon. he's a smooth talking, slick, and sociopathic snake-oil salesman who's so charismatic that you don't even notice you're basically making a deal with the devil until its too late. (let's be honest, he did all the stuff in mcm that involved socializing and getting edwin to sign a damn contract. henry doesnt have that kind of charm.)

he dresses as lavishly as he can, presenting himself as a businessman who knows whats in style in the entertainment industry as he wears finely ironed suits and ties, and casual 70s 'party' clothes that express his fun-loving personality. (you know he sprays on powerful colonge and has at least two guady gemstone rings on his fingers at all times.)

though deep down, he's still william afton; a psychopath who'll gladly use people around him for his own gain. if they're not in his inner circle of the people he actually cares about, they might as well not even be people to him.

Idk if it’s just me but I find it a bit odd whenever people use the patient 46 tapes as evidence for Gregory to be a robot, it may be different for others but when the tapes first released I always read the behavior as neurodivergent. It’s also more likely because 46/gregory was literally mind controlled as well so using the tapes is really weak argument.

I don't understand how that would be argument that he's a robot😭 they literally reference his childhood and parents in them. it's about revealing that he was the 2nd follower I truly don't understand how someone could come to a Gregbot conclusion. it's almost as if Gregbot isn't true and they're grasping at straws just to keep a popular theory + the views and engagement it brings in going 🤔

i was at a family event and my aunts got me to show my hair to them and my younger cousin bc apparently she wanted the same haircut as me and thought my hair was cool and everyone asked who cut my hair and i had the absolute pleasure of saying i did and i feel like that would’ve been a common occurrence for sirius with his lucious hair
