Hey! I'm not south asian, but I have been on a hyperfixation streak on desi culture and hinduism (it started off for an OC but escalated). One thing I've fallen in love with from afar is the cuisine. Particularly the immense variety of curries in Northen India.

It'd be funny to see a Jamil x desi!Reader scenario where the reader is just enjoying all the food he makes for them. Then when they get to the curry, they just shrug their shoulders and say "eh, you pass". Jamil, being the prideful man he is, immediatly challenges them to make something better. Cue reader absolutely smoking him with the most delicious pea curry he's ever tasted.

I imagine Scarabia being having more West Asian/Arab characteristics in terms of culture even though Aladdin simply had a stereotypically orientalist vibe, I feel like a South Asian Yuu would probably get along best with the Scarabia gang for various reasons, but I imagine Jamil would be impressed with a South Asian Yuu's cooking skills, arab cuisine and South asian cuisine are both packed with flavors and seasoning so I'd imagine there'd be a bond over a love for food and culture.

Tbh I'd imagine South asian yuu would introduce a whole new pallete of taste to twisted wonderland, showing off all the different currys, samosas, uttapams, momos, etc from their world. I cam imagine them putting every one to shame (probably not Jamil tho lol) in the Master Chef event lol, they could probably try (and fail) to teach lilia a thing or two.

Might have to make another post talking abt the culture of Scarabia/Scalding Sands bc I could go on for days lol

The context here is that Kalim falls in love with Yuu's dum aloo ( a desi dish that's vegetarian (made of potatoes )) and refuses to eat any of Jamils remakes ( it's nice but it is not the same!). Jamil comes to find out he tried this mystery dish from Yuu's lunch box, which leads us to the present conversation.

So my friend, @stormkitty97, and I were voice chatting last night, trying to finish our outline for the Belle/Vil crossover fic we were writing. When we got to a certain part of the outline, I joked about how Lizzie would reacted much differently in that situation. Then it dawned on us. Both Adriana, my own "Yuu", and Lizzie, the "Yuu" from our HP/TWST crossover fic that we share, are both like corrupted versions of Jasmine and Belle respectfully. Okay, neither of them are outright villains on par with the "Great Seven"—far from it, but they are similar to the Night Raven Students and share a fair bit of traits in common with who their love interests are based on.

Adriana and Jasmine share a lot in common. They are both rich girls, who grew up a privilege lifestyle. Both are feisty and sassy young women, who are quick on their feet, adventurous and empathic/kind to those dear to them. They are both cat people. Jasmine has Rajah while Adriana has a pet cat named Morgana back in her world. (Adriana also has some similar traits with Tiana and Cinderella, but Jasmine is the main one.)

There's a lot that separates them as characters as well. For one, Jasmine is an only child with a dimwitted, but loving father who wants what's best for her and a mother who died when she was young. Meanwhile Adriana was afforded a lot more freedom growing up and instead has a book smart older sister, a Japanese-Canadian stepfather who shares a lot in common with Roy Mustang from FMA and a mother who is a cutthroat business woman like an older, female Azul, who is the CEO of a huge company. There's also the fact that Jasmine is vaguely Swana or Desi (the movie is kinda a mishmash of both) while Adriana is a latina (half Mexican and Cuban/Sicilian) from Vancouver, Canada. Adriana is in her own head and analytical while Jasmine is much less hesitant about things. Adriana, thanks to growing up in a predominantly East-Asian and white environment and being autistic, has experienced things like racism and ableism that made her less naive about the world compared to Jasmine who grew up in a homogeneous environment where everyone is a similar racial background as her.

But what really sets these two apart are Adriana's dark, or twisted, if you will, traits. She's a former popular mean girl. As one could imagine, she wasn't the nicest person back then and did a lot of questionable things that came back to haunt her, which I can't get into because of spoilers. She was betrayed and knocked off her pedestal, leaving her isolated and alone.

Even the present, some of these traits remain. She's rather cunning, manipulative, deceitful and cut throat like Jafar. She is much more willing to go to dark lengths to get what she wants as long as it wouldn't hurt anyone dear to her or get her in trouble. While Jasmine has dabbled into that like with her pretending to seduce Jafar in the animated movie, Adriana is far worse. Not to show all of my cards, so to speak, that version of Scarabia will be much different thanks to these traits and being more actually helpful for Jamil. I can't ever see Jasmine doing the same thing. She also has her other darker moments as well, during Heartslabyul after Ace told her that Riddle is trending on social media for what he said, she says something along the lines of, "Good. He deserves it." I don't see Jasmine reacting like that. Then there's her internal monologue about her saying that the Great Seven had good traits and some of their less shitty actions like murder were in the right, which...yeah, speaks for itself.

While I can't analyze Lizzie nearly as well, since she's more of my co author's creation, she shares a lot in common with Belle. Both are rather smart, bookish, curious, outspoken and willing to stand up for themselves and those they care about.

But Lizzie also shares a lot with Grimhilde (The Evil Queen) as well. She's spiteful, petty, vindictive, selfish and quick to anger. She is much more willing to stoop to darker lengths than Belle. Not to go too much into spoiler territory for a future project, there will be a plot point where Vil will do something rather morally questionable, and Belle freaks out about it. But I think if Lizzie was in that same situation, she would've not only condone his actions, but also encouraged him to do worse.

I think those darker aspects are what makes them more suitable love interests for them in some regards. While we ship them with those princesses too, there is always a disconnect since they are more virtuous people who are naturally more off put by some of their more twisted actions. Lizzie gets Vil's jealousy and anger towards Neige, because she always felt the same way about her brother going to Hogwarts while she never could. She is much more understanding and supportive of him. While Adriana never grew up under far different circumstances than either of the Scarabia Dou (because Adriana's rich, but not Elon Musk or Kardashian levels like Kalim), she understands why Jamil is so angry at his current circumstances as a servant thanks to her being less naive about the world around her and compares his living situation to how shitty people trait their domestic workers. Because of her dark traits, she is much less off put by his darker actions that he will take to bring the Asim family down. But thanks to their lighter traits being similar to the princesses, they are still able to balance them out and bring out their good sides. With them doing the same in return, makes them both better people.

Idk, I just thought those parallels were interesting.

Hey Desi, I'm having a little trouble writing my headcanons about your EW characters so I thought I would ask you about somethings that are cannon about your OCs.

I'm doing patryck next so could you maybe give me a little insight on him?

Oh sure! I have a few up hcs on my Tapas but sadly I don't talk about Patryk enough, so go ahead n ask more if you need to :33

In next Gen, Patryk is a calm person, often seen as a voice of reason when the others are acting stupid, but it's often very exhausting for him with how often he has to do it.

Patryk has a bit of a silver tongue, when he really wants to be, he can be a real snake with his words and coax people into doing what he wants, or tripping them up in arguments. This is one reason he got along with Anya and the reason he and Yuu DONT get along.

Patryk isn't the best with kids, and needed a lot of help with A.k. who became very attached to him and dependent on him.

In some versions he has a relationship with Jenny, who for all purposes, could be seen as his opposite, seeing as she's very carefree and a like her brother, is a bit weird with everything other than her job.

Okay, we've reached 69 responses for the survey (nice), so I'm closing it down and sharing the results now!

55% of players are EN only, 22% are JP only, while 23% play both versions

At least a third of the fandom plays the EN version and relies on wiki translations for story content

Kaguya-sama: Love is War - Ultra Romantic

English: I wasn't hoping that the main theme of the anime would end in this season, since I saw that there is still a lot of content in the manga to make a fourth and even a whole fifth season. But I'm not complaining, this is a perfectly fine place for the anime to end. As the episodes started coming out, I lost hope in this anime more and more and thought they would just keep milking out the same content forever. While the episodes aren't boring, I wouldn't like it if the anime had a bunch of episodes just for Kaguya or Shirogane to confess their feelings to each other. The comedy is superb, the characters are well written, each one is special in their own way. And after getting to know them through the last two seasons, we now get to see them in their full glory. In this season, we also see a lot of Shuchin Academy's past, and when I found out that Shirogane was successfully accepted to study abroad, the hope that the anime will end in this season increased. And that's how the Shuchin Academy festival started, where the whole school participates. At first it didn't seem like anything major was going to happen, but I remembered that it was almost the end of the season and that, as far as Kaguya as an anime was concerned, something big happened between the last episodes of each season. The moment when both Kaguya and Shirogane told themselves that they would confess their love no matter what, it hyped me even more. The rule is that if someone gives a heart to someone at the festival, it is the same as a confession of love. That's what Ishigami did (unknowingly because he didn't know about the rule), and that's how he finds himself a girlfriend, although it's not yet confirmed that they're together. At one point everything starts to go perfectly for Kaguya and Shirogane, so I thought something was bound to happen, but Shirogane's 500IQ plan was too perfect, so no one could get in their way. And so the two of them go to the top of the school where Shirogane, in a very beautiful way, confesses his love to Kaguya. Literally everything could have been Shirogane's dream, but if it really was, I'd drop the next season of the anime. The night after the festival, Shirogane thinks about how tomorrow's day at school will be like now that Kaguya and him are together, which I find interesting because even after they confessed their love for each other, how will they suddenly meet tomorrow at school and forget how they acted together in front of others and all those moments when they turned out to be stupid? But despite this, in the last scene of the anime we see them holding hands, which means that they are a perfect couple and will get along well, as predicted in one of the previous episodes. But I'm interested in how it would all turn out, I think another season would be great. Favorite Character: Ishigami, Yuu Serbian: Nisam se nadao da će se glavna tema animea završiti u ovoj sezoni, pošto sam video da u mangi ima još mnogo sadržaja toliko da se naprave četvrta, pa čak i cela peta sezona. Ali ne bunim se, ovo je sasvim dobro mesto da se anime završi. Kako su krenule da izlaze epizode, sve sam više gubio nadu u ovaj anime i mislio da će večno da milkuju isti sadržaj. Iako epizode nisu dosadne, ne bi mi se svidelo da anime ima gomilu epizoda samo da bi Kaguja ili Širogane priznali osećanja jedno drugom. Komedija je vrhunska, karakteri su fino napisani, svaki je poseban na svoj način. I nakon što smo ih upoznavali kroz prošle dve sezone, sada možemo da ih vidimo u punom sjaju. U ovoj sezoni dosta vidimo i prošlost Šučin akademije, a kada sam saznao da je Širogane uspešno primljen da studira u inostranstvu, nada da će se anime završiti u ovoj sezoni se povećela. I tako je krenuo festival Šučin akademije gde učestvuje cela škola. Prvo mi nije delovalo kao da će nešto mnogo bitno desiti, ali sam se setio da je skoro kraj sezone i da, što se Kaguje kao animea tiče, među poslednjim epizodama svake sezone se desi neka velika stvar. U trenutku kada su i Kaguja i Širogane rekli sebi da će priznati ljubav bez obzira šta se desi, još me je više uzbudilo. Pravilo je da, ako na festivalu neko nekome pokloni srce, to je isto kao i priznanje ljubavi. To je uradio Išigami (nesvesno jer nije znao za to pravilo), i tako nalazi sebi devojku, iako nije još potvrđeno da li su zajedno. U jednom trenutku sve počne da ide savršeno za Kaguju i Široganea, pa sam mislio da će sigurno nešto da se desi, ali Široganeov 500IQ plan je bio previše savršen, tako da niko nije mogao da im smeta. I tako njih dvoje odlaze na vrh škole gde Širogane, na veoma moćan način, priznaje ljubav Kaguji. Bukvalno je sve mogao da bude Široganeov san, ali da je stvarno tako bilo, pao bi neki drop na sledeću sezonu animea. Noć posle festivala, Širogane razmišlja kako će izgledati sutrašnji dan u školi sad kad su Kaguja i on zajedno, što i jeste zanimljivo, jer i nakon što su priznali ljubav jedno drugom, kako će se odjednom sutra u školi sresti i zaboraviti kako su se ponašali jedno pred drugim i sve one trenutke kad su ispali glupi? Ali, uprkos tome, u poslednjoj sceni animea ih vidimo kako se drže za ruke, što znači da su savršen par i da će se lepo slagati, kao što je u jednoj od prethodnih epizoda i predviđeno. Ali mene zanima kako bi sve to izgledalo, i mislim da bi još jedna sezona bila odlična.

Kanda usually minds his business and works cases as one of the best officers on the force.

GRAPS AND CLAPS (THE GRAPS AND NAPS WING) REVIEWS PCW 'LIVE AT PRYZM'

Hello and welcome to another edition of Graps and Naps this time taking in the first of PCW's five shows of the weekend in Pryzm nightclub in Leeds.

After picking @oggypart3 up from his and my former place of work Castle Greyskull, it was off to Rochdale for the train. I had a Shepherd Neame Ipa and I threw rkid a Carlsberg export to keep him quiet on the journey.

Once in Leeds it was off to Tapped in which I had a pint of Thornbridge Hukins pale ale at £4.10. Cue a 'This is Hukins (Haskins)! chants and yes it did taste as bland as one of his many number one contenders matches in Progress.

After picking up Andy Campbell we were off to the Assembly and it's a tough choice with fifty 50 taps on show. I plumped for a Magic Rock dancing bier lager at £5.20 which was nothing special.

Drinks done it was off to Pryzm where on arrival I had a bottle of Becks at a typical nightclub price of £4.50 - absolute dogshit so I kept to a total of 3 for the evening!

The crowd of were greeted by the dulcet (and bloody loud) tones of ring announcer Connie Von D who introduced our first match between newcomer Jaxon Stone and Philip Michael (he's got two first names etc). Phil starts the match by working over Jaxon's arm until Stone took over with some brutal chops in the corner. Owww!!!. Jaxon continues with a double stomp and a jerseysault for a two.

Phil makes a comeback with a dropkick until Stone turns the tide with a shoulderbreaker for a near fall. The end comes for Jaxon when Philip gets a jackknife pin for the three. Good overall match that got Jaxon over to a new audience - EVERYBODY!!! Plus a big win our Phil as he went into the Road to Glory tournament (see how he went on via Graps and Claps).

Next is the PCW women's championship, but the Buyout's music hits as Sheikh el Sham, Tel Banham and Big T Justice come down to the ring. (Presumably Danny Hope was still in Tassletown undertaking sheriff duties?). Sheikh cuts a promo and gives it one fan by saying "I would insult you but nature beat me to it.". Also another barb to our friend Andrew saying 'I have more hair on my arse than on your head mate'!

This brings out PCW matchmaker Greg Lambert who gets involved by saying all the championship belts that were taken off the Buyout at PCW's last show in Blackpool will be given back if they are defended tonight.

I did come out with a quick rhetorical quote as to the where the belts actually went, but I'd be a dead man if I said it on this blog.

Anyway it's on with the women's three way with champion and Buyout member Nightshade, newcomer Desi Derato and queen of chantable names Yuu. Yuu and Derato start as Nightshade chickens it outside the ring. An even matchup until Yuu hits a spinning slam for a two. Derato comes back with a war dance culminating in a near fall on Yuu. Nightshade comes back into the ring and chucks Yuu out and then tackles Desi with two massive hip attacks and a cannonball in the corner.

Yuu comes in to make the save and hits a JOHN YUUUUUUU!!!!, but to no avail as Nightshade hits a german suplex for the win to retain.

Next is a two on one match between James Finn and partner Dave Birch vs current MLW champion and mma fighter "Filthy" Tom Lawlor. Finn and Lawlor start and finish in quick succession when James makes the mistake off grinding on Tom and gets choked out for his trouble. Birch enters next and is given an overhead throw for his trouble.

The action goes to the outside were the chase is on around the ring until Birch decks Lawlor. Dave takes it back in the ring and hits a 619 and a springboard elbow for a two. The end comes for Birch when he also succumbs to a chokehold and taps.

1st half main event and it's a bruising contest between Shigehiro Irie and ROH television champ Jeff Cobb. Both lads jockey for the upper hand by shoulderblocking each other which Irie wins. After another tussle Irie gets a suplex and then a bulldog.

Cobb comes back with a gigantic dropkick, a splash and an almighty uppercut. Cobb eventually gets caught when Irie nuts him. Both men end up down with a double clothesline. Jeff comes back with a Roman Reigns esc punch and a moonsault. Irie fires back with a dvd and a rapid cannonball for a two. Cobb gets the duke with a back suplex and then a tour of the islands for a three.

Absolutely amazing match and well worth seeking out when it appears. From the guys in the ring to the crowd popping like crazy near the end this was an early match of the year contender for me it was that good. Also to note as well the duelling chants of 'Beast Mode' and 'Jeff Cobb' that had PRYZM shaking - belting stuff!

Half time drinks done our next match was Sheikh el Shambles and Big T Justice vs Magnificent Matthew Brooks and Sugar Dunkerton for the tag straps. Cue a cracking singing entrance from Brooks and of course more Sugar sugar chanting from the usual suspects. Brooks manages to get the early advantage by singing in the Sheikh's ear.

Big T gets a tag in and gives Brooks a mauling with a backbreaker and headbutt. El Sham comes back in and continues the beating until Brooks counters with a headscissors and a hot tag to Dunkerton.

Both good guys team up and double clothesline Big T and then hit legdrops on the Sheikh, but T drags Brooks out of the ring. T gets back in and dominates Sugar and eventually gets the win for his team.

Next up is another newcomer in Franco Varga versus PCW academy graduate BIG TIME Bruce Wheeler .A pretty comprehensive victory by Varga with a wicked F5/swinging neckbreaker combo for the victory to impress on his debut in the U.K.

Main event time and it's T Bone vs the PCW double champ champ Tel Banham. Banham gets the upperhand by dropkicking Bone in the back when he wasn't looking. T Bone comes back and brawls with Tel around the ring.

Bone goes for a dive and misses, but comes back and slams Tel on the hardest part of the ring! Banham goes under the ring and jumps Bone from behind on the otherside. Tel trys chopping Bone on the chest, but seemingly just tickle him.

T Bone then flings Banham with an overhead suplex. Banham kicks Bone in the gooly's and pins him for a two. The finish to the match comes via dodgy ref shenanigans giving Tel Banham the win by dq and retaining his heavyweight strap.

T Bone disputes this decision and drops the ref sending the fans home happy. This ref continued to give decisions in favour of the Buyout over the road to glory weekend in Blackpool so check out @oggypart3's review of that to find out what went down.

Wrestling done it was off for a last drink in the friends of ham for a 12% coconut stout to finally see me off onto the train home.

Been seeing this meme going around lately, so I decided to give it a whirl with my own “Yuu” Adriana. Here are six main characters that inspired her creation. 

TWST Cores:

Yuu/The Player: Adriana is my stand-in for the player character. Since Yuu in this game is a blank slate with zero personality, almost nothing about them inspired Addie other than her being sassy and short. 

Jasmine: While Addie is part Mexican, Cuban and Sicilian, not MENA or Desi like her, but they share some things in common personality wise. They are both determined, fiery and courageous rich girls, who dish out all of the clap backs. They also have a strong connection with cats. Her wanting to stick Grim on jackasses was inspired by Jasmine unleashing Rajah on her suitors.

Alice: They're both outsiders from another world, who are analytical, creative and logical. Her being an atheist is also inspired by Alice, since it puts her at odds with a world filled with magic, fae and actual gods. Her being into art and photography are inspired by Lewis Carroll's love for these things.

Other Inspirations:

Naofumi from The Rise of the Shield Hero: While this show is problematic and I admit that I don't like it all too much, they are both the lowest rank in that society and forced to claw their way up. Sometimes by questionable means.

Sokka from Avatar the Last Airbender: Mainly in the sense that they're both non-magical people in worlds where almost everyone has a super power, but use their wits and ingenuity to survive. They are both leaders within their friend group. And kinda goofy at times.

Ruby Matthews (Sex Education): One of my intentions with that character was to make Addie "twisted" in her own right while still making her sympathetic and layered as a character, so I made her a former popular mean girl. Outside of Regina George, Ruby was the main character of that archetype that I drew from.

Ruby seems like a more realistic version of that archetype. In that series, while Ruby can be a bitch at times, she is also a guarded person, who cares about her father and is scared about others finding out that she's from a modest background. While Addie is from a wealthier background, she also guarded, cut throat and secretive person with a soft and kind side as well.

I also can't help but see some parallels with Addie/Jamil and Ruby/Otis with them both being popular girls pairing off with socially awkward dorks. (Still pissed about Ruby/Otis not being endgame in that show, though.)

Proto Jasmine: For those of you who don't know, Howard Ashman's original draft of the Aladdin screenplay was much different than either the animated or live action movies. In that, Jasmine was a spoiled brat, who was described by Ashman as "Madeline Kahn or Bernadette Peters in a really bad mood." She got a song named "Call Me a Princess" where she shows off how shallow and obnoxious she is. She never ended up with Aladdin in the end, instead a girl named Abbi did.

I drew inspiration for some of her character flaws. Sure, Addie isn't a obnoxious brat like Proto Jasmine, but she can be rather materialistic, superficial, obsessed with her psychical appearance and vain thanks to her rich upbringing. In fact, part of the reason why she got the part time gig in her world was because her mom forced her to in order to teach her how to earn money and become more humble, because her mom had to claw her way up to gain her wealth. This is one of her flaws she must outgrow throughout the story.
