okay but like why do i kinda want brainstorm x mika scenes
ill feel like she would be in trouble or sum as her regular self and brainstorm would just pop in and try his best to save her but ends up failing so then mika has to get her way out of this
LIKE FOR A EXAMPLE A FIC WHERE BRAINSTORM IS A HERO BY HISELF AND MIKA DOESNT KNOW HIS IDENTITY SO THEN HE COMES OVER AFTER EVERY NIGHT PATROL TO HER HOUSE OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT

reblog if you’ve read fanfictions that are more professional, better written than some actual novels. I’m trying to see something

Expanding a thought from a conversation this morning:
In general, I think "Is X out-of-character?" is not a terribly useful question for a writer. It shuts down possibility, and interesting directions you could take a character.
A better question, I believe, is "What would it take for Character to do X?" What extremity would she find herself in, where X starts to look like a good idea? What loyalties or fears leave him with X as his only option? THAT'S where a potentially interesting story lies.
In practice, I find that you can often justify much more from a character than you initially dreamed you could: some of my best stories come from "What might drive Character to do [thing he would never do]?" As long as you make it clear to the reader what the hell pushed your character to this point, you've got the seed of a compelling story on your hands.

the urge to write is like a cat meowing for dear life for someone to open the goddamn door, who then shows utter disinterest in said open door

I, of mostly sound body and spirit, request that if I’m ever to die, someone post a new work on my AO3 that says “sorry, she died, ongoing stories postponed forever” because don’t I want my fanfic buddies to think I ghosted them. Amen or whatever you say in a will.

ao3 author: *writes the most devestating ending to a 150k fic that simultaneously calls back to the first chapter and beautifully wraps up every theme in a few paragraphs*
also the ao3 author (in the endnotes): uwu i never know how to end these things T_T

This is what happened when a fanfic site is profit driven. Wattpad sucks 😞
Tumblr media
The email/DM from Wattpad is so condescending. Imagine pressuring writers to update and work while they are doing it for free and fun. Also, the discovery? Algorithm? Of Wattpad looks like a stressful popularity contest 😑
