Jumping on the Olympic fencer Lena bandwagon. I love how almost all the fencers scream after they win, inspiration for this was a photo of team USA’s Lauren Scruggs after winning gold for her team.

Summer Olympics AU Pt 3

This is not Lena's first Olympics, Kara learns. Her first Olympics were at age 17, and successfully defending her gold medal status four years later. But as Kara reads further, her blood begins to boil.

Lena's girlfriend at the time, Mercy Graves, had been a fellow American fencer. They'd made it to the gold medal match together, and despite a strong showing leading up to the finals, watching the footage Kara can tell Lena was rattled.

Her movements were stiff, and stuttering, nothing like the smooth fluidity Kara had witnessed just the day before. And Kara hates that she can see the discomfort in Lena's face before the match, and the way she can't even meet Mercy's gaze when they shake hands. She hates that she can infer what happened.

Mercy had broken up with Lena before the match. The press had speculated that Mercy's win, breaking Lena's streak had been the cause of the breakup, but Kara knows. Kara knows, and wants to throttle Mercy with her bare hands.

She could do it too. Mercy's slender frame would be no match for Kara's muscle-packed weight. It would be easy.

But Kara is too horrified to do anything when Mercy wins her own semi-final bout, clinching herself a place with Lena in this year's finals. A repeat showdown, the press touts. Lena's chance at redemption.

From Mercy's smirk, it's clear that she expects Lena to be as rattled as four years ago. But where Lena's lack of eye contact four years ago had been discomfort, this year's was disregard. Lena remains focused on herself, stays in the zone to face her ex-girlfriend cool and collected.

Even aloof, Kara might say, as Lena heads to her side of the lane.

That aloofness evaporates the moment the referee says "aller". Like a shot Lena surges forward with such speed and intent that Graves is clearly taken off guard. She nearly stumbles back, and with the span of seconds Lena's lane flashes green to award the point.

Again and again, Lena presses relentlessly, scoring point after point. Graves eventually rallies, until they're neck and neck in points. Then, the final go. The next hit decides the winner.

Graves makes the first strike, but Lena dodges, slipping past the blade with astounding agility. Her answering tap awards the point, and the gold.

Kara surges to her feet as Lena rips her helmet off, doubling over as she bellows in victory. Kara screams, watching Lena pump her fist, screaming again as the crowd goes wild.

With a whoop, Kara puts her fingers to her lips and gives a loud whistle.

"That's my girl!"

My Ted continues to get progressively rounder, Booster's inspired by Starman specifically bc I think Mike having a niche character fixation in-universe is funny, Max splits the difference between several different interpretations (he's meant to be older version of Alistair from the second movie, he's an OMAC cyborg, a demigod descendant of Ares through his Great Great Grandfather Patrick Morgan, and ultimately a tragic figure forcibly corrupted into a "real" Lord Havok by the machinations of Mitch Wacky. Max's purely villainous characterization are put on his son Max the V, who kills his "Michael Costner" persona to become the new War after Ares abandons his divinity to force his way into the Endless as the new Destruction)

Kara's just vibing, she's got a cat and keeps stealing her girlfriend's old GSU shirts.

In Booster's time, Kara's been dead for decades, remembered as the warm, well-liked, charming matron and founder of the Legion of Superheroes. In the 80s, she's viewed as a volatile washed up has-been/sell-out. Also everyone thinks Booster's illiterate cause future English has slightly - but noticeably different - rules.

I haven't fleshed it out much but the basic idea is 'English but stripped down to its bare necessities'. The phonetic alphabet is a part of the basic alphabet, and the pronunciation of certain words/letters changes.

EXPLANATION: because oh my gosh, that would be such a cute concept. Boosters need to show off would go perfectly and the fact that he’d be a big shiny weapon of some sort. Blue would make a perfect Meister for him because they even each other out and he would know how to deal perfectly with his energy making their soul residence so fucking powerful.

When Kara scores the winning points in her own gold medal match, the press are all clamoring to interview her. Breathless and elated, she wipes the sweat from her upper lip and pants, "well, I definitely wanted to make my country, my sport, and my team proud, but... to be honest, I really just wanted to impress a pretty girl."

The camera tracks her gaze to the stands, where Lena is jumping and whooping with excitement. When she catches Kara looking at her, her grin grows blinding, inviting Kara to trot to the sideline for a fierce hug from her new... friend? Girlfriend.

The press speculates for weeks.

ok I think the series is HILARIOUS and it’s got me thinking about it for SOOO LONG ( I think a lot ab the series I like most, so this is a sign I loved it)

And aru’s povs make it so depressing and funny at the same time and it’s sooo obvious (to me) that she had a crush on aiden since like, FOREVER and it’s really realistic how she and the others fuck up ALL THE TIME

Idk who my fav character would be but aru is such a vibe like yes be a potato sweetie

Im glad brynne didn’t get a special someone cuz to me she doesn’t need someone because she’d say something like “I’m a whole person I don’t need my ‘other half’ “

THE PLOT TWIST ABOUT ARU’S FAMILY GOT ME SO SHOCKED??? I WAS NOT expecting aru and Kara to be sisters because of their mother???? But the whole thing was just so well thought it’s amazing

This is kinda out of context but I think there’ll be another series??? Because they didn’t EXACTLY say “oh and life went on as a potato” they said there might be new quests? And I hope if said quests happen they get to meet Kara again 🥺 i know I kinda didn’t really trust her but now she lives in my heart forever with the other potatoes 🫶🏻🫶🏻

But if said second series happens I hope it’s just that and not the author just fucking up the (awesome) character development like I felt like rr did with some of his new series (hoo for example kinda screwed up Percy’s character) and that she actually keeps the characters the way they are (or change the throughout the story, not randomly)

I’m also thinking about reading other books from roshani because I’ve seen aru shah fans saying stuff might be connected? I love that idea and I kinda want to see if it’s true

Anyway, I HOPE WE GET TO SEE MORE ARUDEN AND MORE BRYNNE (she’s my silly) AND MORE EVERYONE ESPECIALLY KARA BECAUSE SHES KINDA IN A GRAY ZONE BETWEEN GOOD AND BAD AND I EAT THAT SHIT UP SOOO MUCH IN BOOKS
