"Who might you be miss?"
Y/n gave a kind smile and nodded her head in greeting "I'm y/n, it's nice to meet you," she stayed next to Trein as she was there as his assistant.
"Yuu is our magicless perfect of Ramshackle. She will be working as my assistant throughout the trip," Trein added.
She felt Rollo's eyes scan her and, unlike his greetings to the rest, he held out a hand. Being polite, she offered her hand as well, and he lifted it to his lips, grazing her knuckles quickly. "It is a pleasure to meet you, y/n. I understand it must be difficult, being surrounded by mages every second of the day. I hope you get a chance to relax this trip."
Y/n blushed at the motion and bit her lower lip. All the while, she could feel her boyfriend glaring daggers at her and Rollo.
"I-I'll do my best..." Y/n replied.
Throughout the entire trip, Rollo seemed to gravitate towards y/n and used every excuse to isolate her from the group. They chatted about her difficulties at NRC and of the festival. Due to her being Trein's assistant and the constant reminders to behave, she and her boyfriend had little time together.
This all accumulated at the Masquerade. Rollo had given Y/n a proper dress for the occasion instead of the attire his counsel had chosen. The (color) fabric decadently adorned her figure and stunned the NRC boys with her beauty. But before her boyfriend could ask for a dance, Rollo stole y/n away. He whisked her to the dance floor, and they started chatting.
At this point, Y/N's boyfriend has had enough of the student council president, but what sends him over the edge is when he takes you to the balcony and dares suggest the worst:
"Y/n, stay here with me." Y/n turned quickly on her heels to look at Rollo in shock and confusion, "Those fools at NRC do not deserve your purity. You belong here. with me." He has her pinned against the balcony, "This is your sanctuary."
Y/n pushed Rollo away slightly and spoke up, "Thank you for the offer, but I have no intention of leaving NRC. It is difficult at times but I wouldn't have it any other way. Now if you excuse me, I want to go back to the ball."
Rollo grabbed y/n's wrist and pulled her against him. "It's because of him, isn't it? He has bewitched you!" He pinned her between the balcony wall and him. "Those fiends have enchanted you, but I will free you from those chains and show you salvation! No matter the cost!"

Trey was a patient man who was at this point, an expert at dealing with difficult people and situations, but this was a true test of his calm demeanor. He had followed Rollo and y/n from a distance when they left the ballroom and had been listening to the tense confession through the door. His heart was beating in his ears as he listened to Rollo confessing his love for HIS Sweetheart. The only reason he didn’t barge in then and there was due to the trust he had in Y/n to handle the situation. But when Rollo forced himself onto her after she declined, he had to do something.
“Y/n!” Trey called out as he pushed the balcony doors open. Rollo stepped back from y/n, making it seem as though nothing happened. Y/n looked shaken as she tried to separate herself from her captor, but Rollo blocked her with an arm.
“Clover, what are you doing away from the festivities?” Rollo’s asked.
“I could ask you the same thing.” Trey moved closer to the two, his grip teething around his magic pen.
“The Perfect and I came out for some fresh air. So many mages gathered together can be a bit suffocating.” He replied calmly.
“It can be,” Trey was only a few steps away. His features strained to remained relaxed, he wanted so badly to blow up like his dorm mates and cause a scene, but he did not. He instead put on a smile and kept his composure, “But, this is also a special evening, it’s not often that this many mages meet. Besides, it is a wonderful evening for us, right y/n?” He shifted his gaze to Y/n’s beautiful eyes. A plan had formed in his mind and it seemed to be perfect, “Don’t think I forgot our anniversary?”
Y/n’s eyes lit up and she smiled sweetly. “Trey, how could I forget,” She said and managed to make her way to Trey and enveloped her boyfriend in a hug of joy and relief.
Shock and disappointment flashed over Rollo’s face but was gone in an instant. He nodded to the happy couple and started to walk away, “congratulations… I hope you enjoy the ball. Y/n, please let me know if you ever reconsider.” Before he walked past fully, Trey placed a hand on Rollo’s arm and stopped the president.
“If you force yourself onto her again and I will make you regret ever throwing this ball.” Trey whispered. His eyes were no longer kind, but cruel. It was beyond the look he gave disrespectful underclassmen, this glare was reserved for anyone who dared hurt his sweetheart.
Rollo understood the glare and left with a shred of dignity.
Once he was gone. The stiffness left Trey’s body and he felt his sweetness melt into his arms like putty. Tears started to pool in her eyes all the fears hit her at once. But Trey knew what to do. He stayed there, holding her close, and kissed her forehead. “It’s okay. I got you…”
After whispering a string of sweet nothings to reassure her. Y/n looked up and said, “our anniversary isn’t until winter break silly…”
Trey and y/n chuckled a bit. Of everything she commented on that. Trey looked at the perfect’s beautiful eyes that complemented her stunning gown. “The anniversary of becoming official… today is the anniversary of me realizing how hopelessly I’m in love with you.”
The perfect’s smile grew and Trey couldn’t help himself but kiss her. The kiss was loving and passionate, the kind that could last a century.
The music started to swell and their names are being called by the other Heartsyble students. The kiss ends and Trey looks back. “I knew they would be coming sooner or later.”
“Well you did promise me a dance.” Y/n said and Trey smiled. He felt like a commoner before her, begging for a chance to dance with the princess.
“I did didn’t I.” He stepped back and removed his hat, extending a hand out to her. “Princess will you grace this humble baker with a dance?”

Cater was kicking himself. He knew that he had a social media problem, but he never thought it would result in him missing someone, much less their illustrious host, flirting with HIS girl. Cater had been documenting the trip on magicam and he was constantly taking pictures, clogging, editing, that he has been neglecting his perfect. This all came to fruition when he saw y/n enter the ballroom in the most stunning dress he had ever seen. She looked like a princess out of a storybook. He reached to get his phone out so he could post a picture of is beautiful partner, but as he did someone else approached her. Rollo. The host of this event stole y/n’s first dance and in that moment he realized how much he missed. Rollo and y/n were talking a laughing as they danced. Talking about everything they did over the trip. Cater felt his heart drop as he realized how much he missed through the screen. As he was trying to get the best angle on a photo, Rollo was romancing his lonely partner. At the end of the song, Cater was ready to apologize, but Rollo took y/n away from the ball room and the two disappeared. Cater searched the ballroom till he saw the two on the balcony. He was about to walk out when he realized what Rollo was doing.
“…stay here with me.” Cater’s heart dropped. He listened through the pain and part of him thought she might take it. But the other part of him believed in their love. When he saw her step away from him, his heart jumped, he knew his girl. But Rollo would not relent. Out of instinct he went to the camera on his phone and pressed record, a plan formed and he hopped it would be enough.
“…Cater didn’t put an enchantment on me! I love him and he loves me. No charms needed! Now GET OFF!”
“Diamond? He is your partner?” Rollo scoffed, “He seems to be more infatuated with his phone than you. He treated you so coldly. Not answering your questions, ignoring you in favor of those people only. I don’t think I saw him touch you once.” Cater’s heart panted. He wasn’t wrong. But it still hurt to hear. “None of them appreciate you. You have done so much for them and they brush you off.” He could see her resolve breaking, and Cater could feel his as well. Not everything they said was wrong, she has done so much and hardly gets the recognition. He watched as Rollo’s grip softened and she turned away. Rollo placed his hands on her shoulders, they were really close now. She was thinking, “My dear, you deserve so much better. A school that will nurture and enhance your talents, friends who will recognize and celebrate your skills,… and a partner who will look at you and not a screen. Why… if I was your partner, I would never be able to look at anything else but you… my flame…” he began to caress her cheek and cater was about ready to leave and give in, but his Jewel surprised him yet again.
She grabbed Rollo’s wrist and pushed him away. “You’re wrong. My friends do care about me. And Cater is the best partner I could ask for. He loves me for me and never asks me to be anyone else. He respects me and my boundaries. He sees me for me and I see him for who he is. Yes he has his problems, but we work on the together. He sees me as a person, not an infatuation or an object to be saved. He is twice the man you are so leave me alone. I need to go find him-“
As she started to move away, Rollo grabbed her again and took out his magic pen, “You really leave me with no choice then, my flame. I will show you salvation even if I have to force it upon you-“
“AND HERE FOLKS is what we call a pervert!” Cater took the signal to come out of hiding and acted like he was recording the whole thing. “Rollo Flamme, Student Council President of Nobel Bell College confessed to My girlfriend and when she said No! He tried to kidnap her. Total Yandere behavior if you ask me. The kinda stuff they throw you in prison for.” Cater’s arrival stunned Rollo and he let go of y/n for long enough for her to run to Cater. “Now Cay-cay followers. If I release this video, that means something has happened to me and y/n. And he is the culprit.” Cater ends the video and puts his phone down into his pocket. “If you lay a hand on either of us again. I will release that video and you will be ruined. But I am nice and respect that y/n doesn’t like to be on social media a lot. So this is your only chance. Leave and never speak to us again.” He stood tall and held y/n close in a Possessive manner.
Rollo was visibly shocked and took out his handkerchief, nodded to Y/n, and said, "There is no need for hostility... I hope you have a pleasant evening." And left the two.
After Rollo left, Cater melted into Y/n. He was shaking and kept whispering, "I'm sorry.. I'm sorry, I am so sorry..."
Y/n tightened their grip and said, "Cater, why are you apologizing? You saved me, I-"
"Rollo was right. I-I was so focused on Magicam that I neglected you." He was nestled into her hair as he spoke, "I know I have a problem, but I didn't think it was this bad..."
Y/n stepped back and smiled at Cater, wiping the tears from his cheek. "Cater. I do not blame you. Do I wish we could have spent more time together this trip, yes, but I also know that my duties as an assistant had me moving everywhere and your group also kept you busy." She then stepped close and pressed her forehead to his, "We still have tonight to make it up."
This is the reason he loved y/n, she grounded him and made him see the light at the end of the tunnel. "We do. So here." He handed her his phone to put in her dress pocket. "No phones, no magicam, just us." He then knelt down before y/n and held her hands in his, mirroring the knights of old. "Y/n, will you be mine and mine only tonight?"
Tumblr media
“LET HER GO!” Ace yelled. He had been watching the scene from behind the balcony door, and it took all his willpower to not attack Rollo on sight. Instead, he marched towards the two and pulled y/n away from him. He held her close and felt how much she was trembling. He glared daggers at Rollo and said, “She said no to your salvation bullshit so drop it.”
Rollo returned the glare, but returned to his calm composure, "Mr. Trappola, I'm afraid you have misread the situation. Miss L/n and I were just sharing a conversation, weren't we my dear?"
Y/n looked terrified as Rollo grinned at her. Her trembling grew worse and her voice came out meek, "t-that's one name for it..."
Ace hated seeing her like this. The last time she was this terrified was during Riddle's overblot when she was nearly squished by a rosebush. Since then, Ace promised to keep her safe, and that was a promise he intended to keep. "Sounded less like a conversation and more like a lecture."
"I was simply pointing out how Miss L/n would be happier here. We would actually appreciate her contributions to the school rather than push her aside." Rollo smirked and motioned to Ace, "That seems to be your specialty Trappola, wouldn't you say?"
That is when Ace's restraint broke. Much like when Riddle insulted y/n all those months ago, Ace punched Rollo square in the nose. While Rollo reeled from the punch, Ace grabbed his collar and pushed him against the railing. "You. Don't. Know. ANYTHING! No one loves Y/N more than me! She does more for NRC than any of the housewardens and EVERYONE knows it! We don't thank her as much as we should. But I am sure of one thing: I will protect her no matter what and stay beside her no matter what. Your righteous ass could never do that!!"
He let Rollo go and took y/n's hand. "If you talk down to her like that ever again. I promise you'll get more than a broken nose." and stormed off the balcony with the Perfect in tow.
Once they made it to the other side of the doors, out of sight from the crowd, and from Rollo. Ace stopped and turned back to y/n.
She looked up at him with awe in her (e/c) eyes. Despite the tear streaks and bruises on her wrist from Rollo's grip, she looked as beautiful as the moment she walked in. Ace whipped the tear streaks from her cheeks and asked, "You okay?"
She placed her hand on his and said simply, "You said you loved me..."
Ace's face went red. They hadn't said that word yet despite the feelings being there. "Y-yeah, I guess. I-I was just caught up in the moment and I-I...." He felt like Deuce, tripping over his words like a cat had hold of his tongue.
Y/n smiled and pressed a chaste kiss to his stuttering lips, "I love you too, my Jack of Hearts."
She knew those words would boost his ego. Whose wouldn't when they were compared to the bravest knight in all of the Queendom?
Ace's smirk returned and he leaned in so their foreheads were touching. "Is that any way to thank your hero, m'lady?"
He then properly kissed her. Deeply and Passionately. He held her close as the kiss deepened. One hand cradled the back of her neck while the other pressed against the lower part of her back. She wrapped her arms around his neck and he felt like one of those fairytale heroes, finally getting true loves kiss.
When they finally parted to breathe, the couple heard the faint calls of the other first years.
"Sounds like we're needed," Y/n said softly. The music started up again on a new song and Ace got an idea.
"Well, you still owe me a dance." He removed his hat, placed it on his chest, and kneeled before y/n. He still held one of her hands and smiled, "Y/n, would you spare a dance with your Loyal Card Soldier?"
Tumblr media
“Let. Go.” Jack had an iron grip on Rollo’s shoulder. Wolves were protective by nature, and no one messed with their mates.
Jack had been watching the scene through a crack in the door. He trusted his girlfriend to stand up for herself, but what Rollo was doing crossed a line. Rollo turned his head to see the seething wolf glaring at him.
Rollo loosened his grip on y/n's wrist enough for her to slip away from the monster and into Jack's arms. Once he felt her in his embrace, Jack let Rollo's shoulder go and turned to Y/n.
He cupped her cheek and looked her over once. She was trembling and her one wrist was bruised, but other than that she seemed fine. After assessing her for damage, he kissed her forehead and said softly, "It's okay, I've got you."
He turned back to Rollo, who was watching the two, and snarled. He grabbed his robe and growled, "You try to threaten her again, and I'll make you wish the fires burned you to bits."
Rollo just looked stunned. This Freshman dared to threaten him. But Rollo knew better than to start a physical altercation with Howl. "No need for force. I get the message." He kept his poker face, stepped back, straightened his robes, and walked towards the door.
"Enjoy the Ball, L/n," He said "And remember, Nobel Bell's doors are always open if you need them." before exiting the balcony doors.
Now alone under the sparking stars of the City of Flowers, Jack turned back to his princess and wrapped her in his embrace. Now it was his turn to tremble.
"I'm sorry." He said softly, "I should've seen this coming and stopped it."
Y/n leaned back and put a hand on Jack's cheek. "You have nothing to apologize for." She put her forehead on his and smiled, "You saved me from Rollo. I should be thanking you."
Jack sighed and cupped her face, "Still, I haven't been as attentive as I should have. If I was he wouldn't 'have gone this far if I stayed close to you, or was more affectionate. He would've known to back off."
She put her hands on top of his and nuzzled into their warmth, "Sweetie, I don't think that would have changed anything... But if you would feel better about this if we were more public with our relationship and affection, I'm happy to do so." She kissed his palm and saw his tail begin to wag from the corner of her eye. "Just, please don't blame yourself for this."
Jack's concerns seemed to melt away as she spoke. She could always read his mind and it always amazed him. "Anything for you Princess."
He always felt like the Beast from the Shaftland Tale when he was with her. She seemed to make him a better person, just through proximity. The music began to swell in the ballroom and his ears perked.
He looked at her beautiful gown and thought of something Vil told him once after he found out y/n and Jack were dating, "Flowers are meant to be seen, not hidden away."
Jack finally understood what Vil meant by that.
Jack stepped back from Y/n's embrace and bowed before her. He took her hand and kissed the back of it, "Care to Dance, Princess?"

smartwatch - rafe cameron
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
just a little soft rafe drabble I had to get out of my head! ♡
Rafe yawned and rubbed a hand over his face as he put his truck in park and honked his horn to let you know he was in your driveway. He couldn't fathom why anyone would be awake this early, especially on the weekend, but you were adamant that this was the best time to be at the beach. And, since he would do literally anything for you, especially if it meant time alone with you before the rest of your friends got there, here he was.
He was glancing down at his phone and scrolling mindlessly through it as you climbed into his passenger seat.
"Morning!" you said cheerfully, tugging your ridiculously large beach bag in beside you.
He looked up to greet you couldn't suppress the huge smile on his face as he took you in. You were rambling on excitedly, about the warm weather, about the new Taylor Swift album, about your new bathing suit as you pulled the mirror down to apply some mascara, and for a moment all he could do was stare.
The two of you spent nearly every day together; he'd seen you dressed up for Midsummers, he'd seen you lounging on his couch in a pair of his sweats, but something about the way you looked today stole his next breath and had his heart fluttering in his chest. He was infatuated with you and you seemed to be the only one who didn't know it. So, as you continued to chatter on, full of your exuberant morning energy, he leaned back in his seat and drank you in.
The early morning sun slanted through the windshield, setting everything in the car in hues of pink and gold. Even though he looked like he'd just rolled out of bed (because he had), you were perfectly put together, your hair flowing in shiny gentle waves over your shoulder that reminded him of the ocean; his hands twitched with the urge to run his fingers through it. Your short sundress was inching further and further up your leg as you leaned forward into the mirror and even though he knew you had a bikini on underneath, he felt his pulse quicken at every new exposed inch of your tan skin. His eyes trailed up your body to your face, soft in the morning light with just a touch of makeup, your lips shiny and glossed and your beautiful eyes twinkling as they looked over at him expectantly.
Shit. You had asked him something and he was too busy staring at you to answer.
"Hmm, what?" he asked.
"You're such a sleepyhead" you giggled, shoving him lightly in the arm as you leaned towards him over the center console.
He was transfixed on your smile, and he glanced down at your lips as you tilted your head in a way that was both innocent and soul crushing at the same time, causing him to swallow deeply. You started to say something when you were interrupted by a loud series of beeps and Rafe's wrist began vibrating, his new smartwatch lighting up brightly.
"Shit" he said, looking down at it and frantically trying to hit every button to get it to stop.
"Ooh! You got a new watch - let me see!" you said eagerly, reaching for his wrist and before he could stop you, you saw a message pop up on the small screen: Abnormal Heartrate Detected!

Carlos’s pawn was the first to go. He sat back in his chair, waiting for Y/N to ask her question. The pawn was clutched tightly in her fist as she sucked in a deep breath. “What do you want from me?” She asked him as she stared deep into his brown eyes. They were gorgeous, but they were deadly.
Carlos lot a lazy smirk crosses his face. His shirt was unbuttoned, his sleeves rolled up. You’ve never guess that he was in England for a funeral. “I don’t want some sweet wife that I can easily scare and manipulate,” he answered.
Y/N glared. “That wasn’t what I asked.”
“Try again next time,” he said and began moving his pieces.
They went several goes without anybody stealing a piece. At last, Y/N had his knight in her possession. This question was a bit easier, more direct, and designed to rile him up. “So, you can cheat on me. But what if I was to sleep with another man?”
“You mean that little Australian rat?”
“Just answer the question, Carlos.”
Carlos cleared his throat, but his features remained cool and calm. “Simple. I would have him killed. And maybe you, as well.”
“You’d have me killed?”
“That’s what I said.”
Suddenly Y/N knew what she had to do, knew how she was going to get power over him.
They continued playing, Y/N’s game maybe not as good as it could have been, since she was concentrating on other things. Carlos stole one of her pawns. They hadn’t discussed what he was to get if he stole a piece, but Y/N had just guessed questions, the same as her.
“Do you want to be my wife?”
It sounded like a proposal, but it wasn’t. And it scared Y/N. If she answered wrong would he be rid of her? Toss her to the side like a used rag? But, if she said yes, he would know she was lying. She’d done nothing but cry since she’d arrived in Spain.
“No,” she answered honestly, heart beating erratically. “But I want to. I want to want to be your wife.” And that was the gods honest truth.
As the game continued, so did the questions. Y/N was winning, and therefore she got her questions answered. Sometimes Carlos wouldn’t answer directly, leaving her to try ago, but, by the end of the game, she found out all she needed to know. She knew exactly what she needed to do to force his respect.
Because it wasn’t something she had to earn, she wasn’t going to strive for respect from this monster. She was going to command it.
On their last day in England, Carlos had the meeting with the other heads of family. Y/N spent those last few hours wondering the halls of the house she once called him. it still felt more like home than the building she shared with her husband. She spent time in her bedroom, where her possessions still were. Lando would probably keep it that way, waiting for the day she finally came home. Even if that day was never to come.
It was strange being in that room now. So much had changed since the last time she was there. She looked through her wardrobe, picking out some outfits to take back to Spain. Packed away some black heeled boots and made her way down to the library, to try and get into her mothers desk one last time.
This time, she didn’t care if she destroyed it to get its secrets. Lando wouldn’t care, either.
So, while Lando was being announced as the new head of family, Y/N was using whatever she could find to get into her mother’s desk. She started with a screwdriver to pull apart the drawers. When that didn’t work, she moved onto smashing the entire thing apart.
The desk didn’t hold secrets, as Y/N thought it would. One drawer was full of pictures of Y/N, Lando and their father. The few normal moments they had as a family. Christmas morning and their summers getaways. They were cute, good memories, but they weren’t what Y/N was looking for. So, she kept searching.
There was one other thing Y/N’s mother kept in her desk. A manila folder that was covered in dust. Brushing off the dust, she opened the folder and pulled out a piece of paper.
An agreement. The agreement of Y/N’s hand for Carlos. She read down it, through the details, what each family would gain from this. Her mothers signature sat at the bottom of the paper, along with her fathers and Sainz’s signature. And then there was the date.
Seven years ago. This paper was signed seven years ago. The agreement was put into place seven years ago. Her fate had been decided for her seven years ago.
She tore it up. There was no telling what the consequences would be, but she did it anyway. It had been sitting in this desk for the last five years, anyway, who but her would know if she destroyed it?
Y/N picked herself up. Rage like no other bubbled up inside of her. For the first time ever, she couldn’t wait to get back to Spain.
She waited in the living room for Carlos and Lando to return from their meeting with the heads of family. Carlos already had their bags ready to go, in the corner of the room. She sat on the couch, playing with Lando’s cat. Well, he used to be their cat, but not since Y/N moved to Spain.
“Oh Suki,” she mumbled as he held him up above her, his little front legs stretched out. “I’d take you with me but you’d hate the heat.”
Suki let out a little noise and Y/N let him down, pulling him into her chest. He sat there, rather unhappy, but the ragdoll cat let her hold him close. He didn’t purr, but he didn’t try and wiggle out of her grasp, either. “Thank you, Suk,” she whispered and kissed the top of his head.
The door opened and Y/N let go of the cat, letting him run off to explore. She herself stood and brushed off her skirt, smoothing it down. The outfit of today was a black skirt with a loose, white blouse. She had cute black boots with white socks that just about peaked over the top. It was cute.
She barely got any time to say goodbye to Lando. As much as Y/N wanted to wrap her arms around him, to ask him how the meeting went, ask if anything was different now that he was Norris.
But Carlos didn’t give her much of a choice. He let her say a quick goodbye, let her throw her arms around him, but then they had to go. Y/N would have fought back, but this wasn’t Carlos’s thought. This wasn’t because he wanted to be nasty that they had to leave as soon as possible. Carlos had obligations in Spain he had to attend to, meaning they had to leave the minute the meeting was over.
During the plane ride back to Spain, Y/N sat where she wanted to. Carlos sat opposite her, and Y/N didn’t move away. She watched the clouds coming past as she sipped her drink.
Nothing much happened on the plane journey, and I won’t bore you with the details of the car journey back to the house. Y/N and Carlos didn’t speak. It wasn’t uncomfortable, they just didn’t need to.
That night they slept in separate beds. That was to be expected. Yes, Y/N had stood up to him, but not that much had changed.
It wasn’t until the next day that she stepped up her game. Y/N strode up to Carlos’s office door and knocked. She went to knock, but, as with every time she had tried before, his men stopped her. But Y/N wouldn’t let that happen “I am his wife and I will go where I like,” she said and knocked once again on the office door.
She didn’t wait for a reply before she pushed into his office. He could have been fucking anybody, and Y/N wasn’t going to care. But he wasn’t. Carlos was simply doing paperwork when she walked in.
She strode over, body filled with confidence, and leaned against his desk, looking at her husband. “I want to go shopping,” she said, crossing her arms over her chest.
“Go on, then,” Carlos answered and grabbed a notepad from his desk drawer, making a note of something.
Y/N leaned in closer. “I want to go shopping, Carlos. That means I need money and permission.”
Carlos put down his pen. He looked at his wife and pulled his wallet from his pocket. “Miguel!” He shouted and one of the men guarding the door ran into the office. He stood, staring at his boss as he waited for his command. “You are to take my pretty little wife shopping,” he said and Miguel nodded.
They had an exchange in Spanish; Y/N only just managed to pick out a couple of words.
So, Miguel took Y/N shopping. He didn’t speak to her, just watching over her as she picked out different dresses. Most were black, some short, some longer. Y/N picked out some shoes to go with them. They were elegant, expensive dresses that she was going to use for every day wear. Carlos’s card paid for everything. Y/N didn’t care for the price tags as the filled Miguels arms with bags.
When she was satisfied with the success of her shopping trip, Miguel drove her back to the house. She headed straight to her room, putting away her new dresses and shoes. And then she got changed into one of them, the one she deemed to be the sexiest. That was what she wore to give Carlos back his card.
When she walked into the office, his jaw was on the floor.

Chapter 9: Wedding Bells or Gong of Destruction?
Pairing: Soldier Boy x f!reader, Reader POV
Summary: When the reader left Payback 40 years ago after a falling out with her childhood best friend she never looked back, but when two men show up to her apartment and start asking her questions about the past, the reader begins to think those things can’t stay hidden and starts to question what’s real and what’s fantasy.  This is a re-telling of The Boys Season 3, where the reader is a supe who's known Soldier Boy since 1927. The chapters will fluctuate between past and present. This is chapter nine of my "You Call It Madness But I Call It Love" series. (I'm so bad at summaries please forgive me!)
Word Count: 3.3K
Warnings: References to sex, Cursing (a few times), Soldier Boy might be, is, really, absolutely, a little OOC, pining, fluff, some angst.
Note: This is told from Reader's perspective. Any references to the reader is made using you or your. There is minimal use of y/n. I tried my best to proofread, but nobody's perfect. Reader is described as "curvy" occasionally. If you don’t like, don’t read, but if you do like, you’re my favorite!
Internal Monologue is in first person and is in italics

Philadelphia 1941
You paced at the foot of your bed, wringing your hands together, heartbeat frantic against your ribcage as your world seemed to spin to a stop. You didn't know whether you wanted to laugh or cry, scream or sob, throw up or have a stroke. Your entire body was electrified with your nerves, popping and crackling loud in your ears as the impulses jumped from synapse to synapse with ease.
And it was Howard's fault.
After three years of courting, of you trying to make up excuses to lengthen the distance between you two, of trying to find a way out, of trying to find a way to tell Ben that you loved him, it had finally happened, Howard had proposed. It wasn't out of the blue, you had been courting long enough and you were well past the age of usual engagement, something your mother continued to point out, but that didn't make any of this any easier.
Your eyes drop to the offensive chunk of jewelry on your left hand. Not only was it the ugliest ring you’d ever seen, but it was from the wrong man. You knew that deep down in your bones, knew it the second Howard came to Sunday night dinner and dropped to one knee in front of you. Hell, you knew it the second you met Howard for the first time. He was nothing compared to Ben, no one was.
You had looked Howard in the eye stunned, unable to speak, then raised your eyes to your father and mother hoping to find your voice and a plausible excuse, but before you could give him the honest answer you knew in your heart to be true, your mother had shouted "Of course she will!"
Because she's controlled everything else about my life, of course she'd do this as well.
Your tried again not to think about how ugly the ring and how it was utterly wrong for you in every way. When Howard dropped to one knee and opened the velvet box, all you could think of was Ben. You wondered what ring Ben would have chosen for you and wondered if the ring from him would have been right.  He knew you better than anyone else.
Which begged the question: shouldn't your fiancé?
You tried not to compare your best friend to Howard, because you knew who would win. Every time you began to compare them, Ben had more pros than Howard did. But you couldn't keep waiting for Ben, didn't want to. Howard was promising you a future, a family, marriage-
A loveless one. The thought is immediate and makes your heart seize in your chest.
You knew that a marriage with Ben would be different, filled with passion, romance, love-
But he doesn't love you. So basically if Ben married you it would be the same for him as you marrying Howard. A one-sided love.
Despite dating Howard, you still allowed Ben in your life. Ben stayed over whenever he wished, walked with you to the park, stole you away for drinks in the bar down the street where Howard wouldn't be caught dead in, and took you to the occasional baseball game. Howard didn't drink and he didn't like being outside. Those moments with Ben made you feel more alive than you'd ever felt and then you'd meet Howard later and try to summon the enthusiasm to sit with him at dinner, all the while you were still buzzing with happiness from seeing Ben.
It made you feel like a traitor, feeling that good and thinking about another person while Howard tried to be everything you wanted.
Whenever Howard would kiss you goodnight, it made you feel like you were kissing a statue, cold, unfeeling, and despite his attempts to slide his tongue in your mouth it was passionless. And it made you think about what Ben said about Howard's name and what he would be like in bed, as improper as it was. You think back to all the moments you and Ben had been pressed against one another when you woke up in the morning, how perfectly you fit against him. Whenever Howard tried to hug you or hold you close it was all wrong. He wasn't tall enough or broad enough, not to mention sometimes you thought if he'd even be able to pick you up. Howard was more lanky than muscular, certainly not as strong as Ben, who picked you up one time on a dare from Adam when you were all really drunk.
Howard didn’t make you feel warm when he touched you accidently, he didn’t make you feel brave whenever your mother was around, and he certainly didn’t make you feel as happy as you did when you were with Ben. Not to mention he never let you draw him, said that there were more important things that he could be doing rather than siting there posing for you.
Howard wasn’t spontaneous. He’d show up exactly on time, call when he said he would, time every single minute of your dates and he certainly never tried to surprise you the way Ben did. The only time Howard ever seemed excited about anything was when he was talking about the fiscal progress of the United States in comparison to Europe, which he weaseled into every conversation you had together.
Even when he asked you to marry him it sounded more like a business proposal than a happy moment. You always thought that when you got engaged the other person would make at least some confession of love. He hadn’t done that. Howard successfully sucked the life out of a moment you thought you would remember forever. You couldn’t even remember what he said before he got on one knee, just the awkward silence and the feeling of dread that clamped tight around your heart when he asked you the question that ruined your life.
Legally am I bound to this, because technically my mother said yes for me?
You wondered if Howard proposed because the U.S was finally joining in the war or if he genuinely loved you. He brought by flowers often, roses even though you liked lavender more, brought by caramels even though you liked chocolates, and sent you books on the financial history of the United States that were helpful when you couldn't sleep at night, they sent you right off, not to mention you'd started sketching street scenes in the pages making them much more interesting, but you weren't going to show Howard that. His head would probably explode.
You sigh again, pacing faster at the end of your bed.
Howard wanted a quick wedding within the week before he shipped out to military training on Friday, and maybe you should be scared about your fiancé going to war, but the only person you were worried about was Ben. He'd probably also join the military to prove something to his father and take your heart with him when he left. You knew that Ben was the only one you wanted to hold your heart in his hands.
You look back down at the ring on your finger, filled with dread and thoughts about a passionless future.
How am I going to tell Ben?
The tap on your window is familiar, but frightens you, because you didn't know how to tell him or how he'd react. Each time you brought up Howard around him, Ben would make a sarcastic comment and change the subject. You think about the night you danced together, when Ben said that you couldn't be Howard's and also his friend.
Does that mean he'll never want to be apart of my life when we get married?
The thought makes your heart break. You couldn't imagine a life without Ben and you didn't want to, but you could image a life without Howard.
Ben is crouched in the window, a wide smile on his face,  but this time he doesn't wait for you to let him in, he rolls up the window himself and he crosses the room to hug you.
The hug surprises you. You were usually the one that initiated them, but the hug breaks something in your chest and you hug him back tighter than you ever had to stop the tears from falling, pressing your face into his rumpled suit.
"Hey Sweetheart." Ben pulls back, but frowns when he looks at your face. "What's wrong?" Ben's hand gently cups your cheek, trailing warmth where his fingertips touch. You're surprised at the boldness of his touch, but you ascribe it to the alcohol, given the sharp tang of whiskey that floats through the air between you.
"Nothing." You clear your throat, stepping back so his hand falls and covering your ring finger on your left hand with your right nonchalantly. "How are you?"
Ben frowns for a minute at your reaction, but then shakes it off. "I've got great news." He smiles so wide that it makes the urge to cry rise in the back of your throat again.
You knew that as soon as you married Howard he would forbid you from seeing Ben. He already had after the night at the dance hall, but you didn't pay attention to him. Unfortunately, you knew that once you were married you wouldn’t be able to defy his wishes. You respected what marriage represented far too much to cross that line.
"Um me too." You smile tightly, your heartbeat so loud you wonder if Ben can hear it.
"Oh. Well-" Ben begins to say, wanting to let you talk.
"No. Please, you go first."
He won't tell me what news he has if I say my piece about Howard.
"Well, I've been thinking about what you said to me the other day about trying to figure out what I want-"
You remembered the conversation clearly. It was another day at Fairmount Park and it was an attempt to get Ben to start thinking about his future, though when you had told him to figure out what he wanted you hoped that it meant he would consider you, consider turning your friendship into something more. Your heart surges, hoping that this is it, this is Ben finally saying that loves you, that he wants to be with you.
"And I'm finally going to make something of myself." Ben's green eyes shine brightly with his excitement.
"Huh?" Your heart sinks.
"I talked to my dad." You don't miss the way Ben's jaw tightens when he says it. "And I've decided to enlist-"
"Enlist! Ben-" It takes all you have to beg him not to go, not to leave you here. Because you knew that you couldn't live without him and the thought that he would die overseas in a war destroyed you.
"Wait, listen." Ben smiles wider, confusing you. "My dad has friends in the war department, friends that are looking for volunteers for a military project."
"A military project?"
"It's a serum or an injection that's supposed to make us stronger, better-"
"What do you mean?" You ask mildly confused. You hadn't heard of the government announcing any kind of experiments or projects in the newspapers. Surely Howard would have told you about it, he was always boring you with things like that.
"I'm a not a scientist" Ben shakes his head. "But all I know is that they're looking for volunteers and they want men and women."
Surprise flits through your mind. It was odd that they were also asking for women. Although you knew that the military was beginning to accept women in their ranks, it was still surprising that they wanted female volunteers for a government project. Especially if they were experimenting on them.
Like lab rats?
"What are you saying?" You're still confused as to what he's trying to tell you, unusual given the fact that you were usually very good at reading him.
"I want you come with me." Ben can hardly contain his excitement, his smile is so wide it nearly splits his face.
It was the last thing you expected him to ask. "What?" You blink.
"I don't want to do this without you." He says in a tone that makes your heartbeat stop. "And I want you to come with me." He repeats.
Your immediate reaction is to scream yes, let him take you away from all of this, but then you remember Howard, and your mother and feel the weight begin to settle on your shoulders again.
"Ben I can't." It breaks your heart to say it to him, to watch how his face falls.
“Why not?”
"Howard is-"
"Come on, you really think things are going to work out with that son of a bitch?" Ben shouts so loud you're afraid that he'll wake up your parents.
"He loves me-" You begin to say, the urge to cry coming back strong, burning against your eyes. Because now it was that you were choosing Howard over him, even though you didn't want to, it was what your mother wanted. The future she laid out for you.
"You don't know that." Ben snaps, rolling his eyes.
"Ben, he-" You struggle to find your words, taking in a deep breath to strengthen your voice. "He- he proposed. I mean it's been three years, we're both of age-"
Ben's eyes drop to your left hand and this time you uncover your hand so he can see the engagement ring. His shoulders tense and the muscle in his jaw clenches and unclenches.
"When did he ask you?" Ben says in almost a growl.
"Tonight. He came to dinner, my mother is so excited-" You successfully keep the tremor from your voice, but it quickly feels like you're running out of air.
"But you're not." Ben mutters
"Of course I am-" Your voice cracks with emotion.
"No you're not." Ben raises his gaze to look at you.  "I know you." The look in his eyes is unfamiliar, almost afraid.
But Ben isn't scared of anything. You try to remember a moment that he acted afraid, the only time is the memory of when you first met, when his father was looking for him and you lied to help him hide. Ben was fearless, it was something that you admired about him. You could always rely on him to have your back, be strong when you knew that you couldn’t be. To see him afraid was different.
"Ben-" You try again.
"Please." His jaw clenches together. "Don't marry him. Come with me."
"What?" You blink a few times to comprehend what he's asking.
Is he saying that he wants me to marry him? To run away with him?
"You're worth a hundred of him and I don't want to do this without you."
"Ben you're asking me to give up my future, my life-" You say trying to strengthen your resolve.
As unwelcome as Howard's proposal was, it was a future of sorts, what Ben was asking you was to dive into the unknown and you weren't sure if you were strong enough to do that. To leave everything you knew behind you and go with him. But apart of you was thrilled. Maybe it meant that Ben cared for you, needed you and this was the only way that he knew how to tell you. The three little words jump to the tip of your tongue again, the words you wanted to say when you danced together under the twinkling lights all those nights ago.
"You mean the future your mother wants for you." Ben sighs.
"Ben-"
"You’ve been trying to please her your whole life. Please don’t do this for her. Don’t marry him for her." Ben says, trying to catch your gaze, but you look down at his chest for a minute.
"But-"
"You are worth more y/n. And even if she can’t see your worth I can."
"Ben-"  You look back up at him, trying to find the courage to tell him that you love him.
He stares back at you, green eyes wide and honest before he takes your hands. They're warm and rough, familiar in the best way. "Tell me that you want him. You’ve never lied to me before and I don’t think you’ll start now."
Your words die on your tongue, because you know that you can't lie to him, you never could.
"Is that really what you want? To spend the rest of your life with him? If it is I'll leave, but I want to hear you say it." His eyes are filled with promises that make your voice catch in your throat, like two blazing green fires that see through you. Ben might have acted aloof with other people, but he always paid attention to you and knew what you were thinking.  No one knew you as well as he did, well except for the most obvious thing.
No it's not what I want. All I want is to be with you. The thought is immediate.
"But what about my mother-" You say, squeezing his hands.
"If you come with me, you'll never have to worry about her ever again." He says. By now tears are trickling down your cheeks, frustration and confusion building in your chest. Ben was promising you a future with him, but you couldn't understand if he was doing it because he wanted to be more or if he wanted you with him because you were his friend.
He drops your hands and instead brushes away your tears from your eyes. "I know you don't want to marry him."
"I don't." You whisper. "But I don’t know if I'm strong enough for this-"
“Do you trust me?”
Your hands come up to the front of his chest before you can stop yourself, feeling the warmth that surges underneath your palms. “Of course I do.”
His eyes are inviting, pleading, filled with emotion. "I swear that I will be strong enough for the both of us." His hands cup your cheeks. "I swear that I will look out for you like I always have.  I swear that I will never leave you. And I don't want to leave you behind. Please y/n. Come with me." The earnest look in Ben's eyes makes you cry harder, but you know that all you want is to go with him.
You don't want him to go and leave you here, where no one understands and the future that you see is cold, emotionless, and the path dark. You see the coming years with Howard, living together, having children, lunching with other women you hardly know and talking about nothing that mattered.
When you were with Ben everything you talked about seemed important, every moment with him was fused with wonder and expectation, you were never disappointed and were always excited about what you would do together even if it was something as mundane as sitting on a bench with Ben talking while you painted. You could imagine spending the rest of your life with him.
But could he imagine the same thing with you?
The future you see with Ben is warm, inviting, filled with promises you know that he’ll keep because he’s never broken a promise to you no matter what.
But you wonder if it's the promise that you want.
You stand there in the silence of his plea, hearing the ticking of the clock on your bedside table, the sound of cars outside your window, and the sounds of the night vibrate through you bones.
He wasn’t saying that he loved you. He wasn’t confessing his love. He wasn’t making a promise to marry you.
But maybe this was his way. Ben had never been the best at expressing what he was feeling, but the look in his eyes, the way his fingers hold your face to his-
It spoke volumes.
“Yes.” You whisper. “I’ll come with you.”
Ben’s smile breaks your heart as he pulls you tightly against him, laying his head on top of yours as he hugs you and sets every nerve ending on fire. Because the hug is different. It’s filled with the unspoken words between you, the memories you’ve shared, and the great unknown that stretches beyond both of you.
And you cling tight to him, the only part of your future that’s certain.
Or so you thought.

a/n: I know, I know there's a lot of unresolved tension.😂 I promise it will all make sense and that it is going somewhere. But I will say the next few chapters are kinda... rough and are painful to write, but I can't wait for y'all to read them.

1D songs as f1 drivers prompts
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
included: lando norris, oscar piastri, charles leclerc, carlos sainz, lewis hamilton, george russell, max verstappen.
cw: slight angst.
note: i spent days making this omg 😭 i'm so glad it's finally out bc i'm a huge fan of one direction's songs (had my directioner era lol) i really hope you guys enjoy it ! also i was thinking about making it a serie, let me know if you're interested by any of the prompts !
click on the title to play the song!
_________________________________________________
lando norris ☆ stole my heart (bestfriends in love)
“under the lights tonight, you turned around and you stole my heart with just one look, when i saw your face, i fell in love„
lando really tried. he attempted to bury his feelings as deeply as he could, but you make it so difficult. the way you're the only one who laughs at his silly jokes, the way you try not to miss any of his races (and send him a good luck text when you can't be there), the way you randomly smile down at him – he could talk about everything you do for hours because he loves and knows every single details about you. sometimes he hates how you make him feel because he just wants to say, 'fuck it,' and kiss you for hours and hours. he can't even count the number of times he's thought about kissing you or the countless times the three words almost slipped out of his mouth out of nowhere. but the thought of losing you forever hold him back everytime, he can't even imagine his life without you. he doesn't know how, but lando has fallen for you, really, really hard and it just keeps going, he just can't get enough of you.
oscar piastri ☆ 18 (teenage love)
“i have loved you since we were 18, long before we both thought the same thing, to be loved and to be in love„
oscar initially watched you from a distance, even memorizing your schedule to see you as often as possible. he'd daydream about finding excuses to start conversations with you, sometimes getting so lost in thought during class that he'd lose track of the lesson. then, one day, he finally gathered the courage to talk to you, pretending to need notes from a shared class. since that day, you began exchanging daily messages, making oscar dumbly smiling. you started having study sessions, eating lunch together, sitting together in your shared classes and he'd even wait to walk you home. and just like that, oscar start falling for you. he found himself daydreaming about you more often, imagining how it would feel to hold your hand and how your lips would feel on his. those thoughts would fluster him, but deep down, he hoped they might come true.
charles leclerc ☆ summer love
“you were my summer love, you'll always will be my summer love„
midnight swims, picnics, sneaking out to watch the stars, late-night talks, sharing earphones while lying on the beach, biking, taking pictures of each other with your old camera, whispering sweet words to each other when no one's watching. that's what makes summer your favorite season, because you get to be with charles. but why does being in love with charles have to be so complicated? why do you have to part ways when the summer ends? most importantly, what makes you hold onto this love, so complicated? maybe the fact that charles always promises to be there next summer and keep this promise — or the fact that you're madly in love with this boy—. the craziest part of all of this is how your love for each other never fades, to the point where charles promises to marry you and get a beach house where you can spend all your summers together when you grow up. charles always keeps his promises.
carlos sainz ☆ change your ticket (long distance)
“you should probably stay, probably stay a couple more days, come on let me change your ticket home, don't go, it's not the same when you go„
you never imagined that having an f1 driver as your boyfriend would be so challenging and that you'd have to spend half the year far from him. at first, it wasn't a big problem, and you got used to it quickly. but at times, it really tugged at your heart. carlos always makes sure to call you when he is free and send you texts at random times of the day to ask how's your day going and tell you how much he misses you, but it's not the same. carlos had asked you more than to join the venture, assuring you that his income would be more than enough for both of you. you thought about it—a lot—but the idea of making such significant changes held you back. now, when you think about it, you realize that losing carlos over a simple matter of distance would be a mistake, especially when there's a solution within reach. perhaps traveling the world with your f1 driver boyfriend isn't such a bad idea after all.
lewis hamilton ☆ heart attack (bestfriend's sister)
“got your voice in my head, sayin' «let's just be friends» [...] never thought it'd hurt so bad, getting over you„
lewis doesn't even know how he fell in love with you. perhaps it was the way your smile warms his heart or how you effortlessly make the most boring conversation so captivating. it seems so absurd that, out of all of the people, he fell for his bestfriend's sister. lewis never imagined that it will be this hard to fight his love for you and act like his mind is not filled with thoughts of you 24/7. how could he possibly get over you when just being in the same room as you drives him crazy? he thought about telling your brother, he really did but the thought of losing his long time friend and you along the way held him back. so he decided to bury his feelings deep in his heart and keep his thoughts in the back of his head. yet, with every echo of your laughter from the next room or just the sight of you, his heart would go crazy.
george russell ☆ loved you first
“i've been waiting all this time to finally say it but now i see your heart's been taken, and nothing could be worse, baby i loved you first„
george can't help but think about the stupid mistake he made a few months ago— not confessing his love for you. he had so many chances to do it, to tell you that he fell hard for you and he can't stop thinking about you. but the day he finally decided to do it, he didn't expect to find you arm in arm with another guy, totally breaking his heart. he just couldn't take it anymore, seeing you with him every day and acting like it was fine, as if the looks and smiles you gave him didn't warm his heart and make him want to take your hand and run as far as he could. because george, he's deeply in love, and it's getting deeper every single day. it's so unfair— he was there first, he loved you first. the worst part is that you know how george feels, and you might even feel the same way. george loved you first, and he's going to make sure that you know that.
max verstappen ☆ still the one (ex lovers)
“you're all i think about baby, i was so stupid for letting you go, you still the one„
max tried to date other girls, multiple times. however, it never felt the same. how is he supposed to move on when he's consumed by thoughts of you 24/7? he can't even engage in meaningful conversations with his dates because his mind always drifts back to you. he spends countless nights trying to erase you from his thoughts, to convince himself that it's truly over. yet, deep down, a flicker of hope for your love still lingers. max thought about the endless nights he's spent replaying your conversations and wondering what went wrong. he's haunted by the way your smile lit up his world and the warmth of your hand in his. even though he's tried to move forward, the heartache is still here, reminding him that sometimes, love refuses to fade.

chapter one ♫♪♩·.¸¸
''Absolutely not!''
''Come on, he's not that bad.''
''No, Steve. I'd rather sleep on the streets.''
''You'd rather be homeless then live with him?''
''Yes.''
Steve sighed, hands on his hips, striking his signature mom pose. ''What the hell happened between you two, anyway?''
''What, he hasn't told you?''
''He's told me his version of events. You on the other hand, never seem to want to talk about it.''
Sighing, you stared into the glass sat in front of you, filled with clear liquid with a greenish hue underneath, twirling the small paper umbrella Steve added as a joke.
''It doesn't matter. What Eddie Munson and I once had, or didn't have, theoretically, is in the past.''
''Then take the room. You're both working, you'll hardly ever see each other.''
Dragging your words, you nervously played with the ends of your hair. ''I don't know...''
''Look, I gotta open the doors. You can stay in the back office tonight if you want, there's an uncomfortable leather couch with your name on it. I'd let you crash at ours, but Nance has been... emotional.''
''She okay?'' you winced, hopping of the barstool you had been sitting on the last hour.
''She thinks she can feel the baby kicking but then she realizes that it's far too early for that and starts crying.''
''Oh,'' you cooed. ''She's just excited.''
''Yeah, I know. I'm excited, too.''
You closed the door to the office space that would be your bedroom for the night. It was small, but held a small desk with various papers scattered on it, a bookshelf half empty and as promised, a worn out brown leather couch. Dropping your purse on the desk, you retrieved your phone and sat down on the couch. You rested your head on the back of the couch, eyes closed, nearly falling asleep if it weren't for the sudden rock music booming outside. You'd almost forgotten you were at Steve's place of work, a bar downtown called the Black Room.
Staring at the bleak ceiling, you bit the inside of your cheek when you felt your eyes getting watery. For the past year, after graduating high school, you had been working your ass off at a local diner across town. You were saving money for college, and other things, since you didn't receive the scholarship you hoped would change your life. Every time you got a paycheck, you withdrew some of it and kept it aside. In the year since you started working, the saved amount wasn't big, but it was still significant to you and you were proud of yourself for keeping it and not spending the money like that little devil on your shoulder keeps suggesting sometimes.
But all of that was now gone, and all it took was a simple mistake of trusting the wrong person and all of your hopes and dreams came crashing down, taking your money with it. To save some money, you moved in with an old friend from high school, Jennie. What you didn't know, was that Jennie was also a pathological liar, who was in financial debt and to ease those debts, found the money you had kept hidden under your mattress (a dumb place to hide money, you know that) and stole it to pay off some of her debts.
Throwing Jennie out was not an option unfortunately, the apartment lease was under her name, so without much thought, you turned on your heel and marched right back out. Heading down the street, you had no idea where you were going. You made it two blocks from your home and nearly collided with a lamp post, when the sound of a bus horn somewhere behind you brought you back to reality. You hopped on the bus that stopped a few feet away from you and headed straight downtown to the Black Room, where you knew Steve would be working tonight.
♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡
You must have fallen asleep at some point, because the next thing you knew, something was kicking at your feet.
''My, my... Look what the cat dragged in.''
You'd recognize that voice anywhere; deep, sometimes raspy from all the cigarettes he likes to smoke, or at least he used to. It's the voice you used to hear late at night, reading a book out loud when you couldn't sleep due to the thunder outside, or when that same voice used to whisper sweet nothings in your ear when you weren't feeling well. It's also the voice that, one day, in less than 12 hours, turned from sweet and caring to cold and distant.
Right, you forgot he worked here too.
You were laying on your side, feet hanging off the couch. You opened your eyes and the first thing you saw were pair of black jeans, ripped from the right knee and left thigh, one of his Converse clad foot was kicking your heels. A black Henley with the front tucked into his pants, the unforgettable handcuff belt on full display with the black leather more worn out than the last time you saw it, Eddie was looking down at you like a God above, the ceiling lamp above him casting a glow around his hair, still the same as it was in high school - at least some things never change.
''Edward.'' You pushed up from the couch, wincing at the tired muscles of your back. Steve was right, that couch was shit.
The use of his full name always used to irritate him, but if it bothered him now, he didn't show it. Instead, he clicked his tongue and took a few steps to his left and sat on the desk, his hands resting beside him, gripping the edge of the table. ''Whatcha doing here, sweetheart? Haven't seen you in years.''
''First of all, don't call me that,'' you sighed. ''Second, that's none of your business.''
Eddie smirked. ''You're at my place of work, it's kind of my business.''
''What time is it?'' you felt around for your phone, but didn't find it.
''Oh, it's uh...'' Eddie pulled a phone out of his back pocket, your phone. ''02:14 am.''
''Hey! Give me that,'' you held your palm up.
Eddie looked at your hand for a moment, before handing the phone back to you, the back of his knuckles grazing your palm. You swallowed down the spark you felt speed across your arm. The sleeves of his shirt were pulled up to his elbow, exposing tattoos you had never seen before as well as his toned arms. Doing a quick once over, you noticed his physique was fuller... everywhere. Does he work out? He was pretty tall and lanky back in high school, but now he looked like he had grown into his body; the jeans were hugging his thighs and his shoulders seemed more defined.
Clearing your throat, you asked, ''Why did you even have that? Is stealing your side hustle now?''
''It was laying on the floor, pardon me. Didn't want to step on it.''
''Fine. Thanks for not stepping on it, I guess,'' you mumbled, keeping your eyes trained on the bookshelf.
''Aren't you gonna ask me what I'm doing here?''
''Don't you work here?''
''Yeah, but not tonight.''
''Okay, I honestly don't care, so...''
''Oh, don't be like that. After all, I'm here to save you.''
You turned to look at him, and that turned Eddie's small smirk into a big Cheshire cat like grin. ''Save me?''
''Steve called me and told me about your predicament.''
Groaning, you threw your head back against the couch. ''God damn Steve.''
''Look, I know we have... history and everything, but I'm only here as a friend. Consider it an olive branch for how things ended back in high school.''
You gaped at him, your eyes bulging and your mouth hanging open. ''Wow. Okay. No, thank you.''
Eddie rolled his eyes. ''You have nowhere else to go.''
''Yes, I do,'' you lied, and very obviously so. You were never any good at it.
''Then why are you sleeping on this fucked up couch?''
Gritting your teeth, you rolled your eyes and looked away from him. Damn Steve and his loud mouth, you were going to hit him on the head. Eddie sighed and got up from the desk, coming closer and crouching next to the couch.
''The offer stands 'til the end of the week. You need a room and I need a roommate now that Steve's gone. I work here every Wednesday through Saturday and after that I usually sleep for two days to get ready for my next shift. We'll hardly ever see each other.''
''Tonight's Wednesday and you're not working.''
''I needed a personal day,'' he winked.
''You know, I've heard about your gigolo way of life.''
Eddie laughed, his eyes shining in the process. ''Gigolo?''
''You're a manwhore.''
Snorting, Eddie rested his hand on his palm, covering his mouth. ''Is that what Steve told you?''
''Are you denying it?'
''No,'' he mused, his voice muffled behind his fist.
''See, that's why I can't move in. I don't want to hear that every night.''
''You used to like hearing me moan in your ear.''
Eddie must have seen the hurt flash across your eyes, since he suddenly grew quiet himself.
His voice was lower now, more serious. What he said next, made you whip your head around and look at those big, chocolate brown eyes that you used to miss so much. ''I know you hate me, I understand that. Despite what happened back then, I still care about you. As a friend, of course. Yes, I sleep around and I am a man so the place is probably messier than you'd like, but I'm offering you a free place to stay. I know you don't have any money either, I'm good to cover us both for a while. Take it or leave it.''
''Why would you do this?'' you asked, looking deep into his eyes, like you were searching for his soul through them.
Sitting so close to him, your chest constricted at all the memories and what if's that have bombarded you throughout the years. Three years after you fled high school, never looking back, he still had a hold on you and you hated him for it. Hated the way he smelled exactly the same but new at the same time, the way he looked like he used to but more mature, the way you still felt your heart nearly burst out of your throat when he looked at you with those stupid brown eyes. You despised him, because after all this time, you still felt the same. If you do this, you had to keep your heart closed, lock it away and swallow the key. Eddie Munson broke your heart once, you won't let him do it again.
''Fine. I'll take it.''

Blinking away the remnants of sleep, you felt a weight over your side, it was a comforting presence. Bucky lay there still asleep, his arm draped over you on top of your bedcovers. With a soft sigh, you gently freed yourself from under his hold and slipped from under the covers. Tiptoeing around your room, you collected what you needed to get ready for school and chose to get dressed in the jack-and-jill bathroom you shared with Steve, making sure to lock the door to Steve’s side before starting your morning routine.
Once you were ready, you walked back into your room, for a second you watched Bucky with a smile. Welcoming the comfort of knowing he was here, even if you had to stay hidden, you decided to let him sleep a little longer and sit at your desk to start on the homework you missed last night.
As you sat lost in your studying and writing notes, you began to lose track of time. The sound of Bucky’s steady breathing brings you out of your trance now and then, you can’t help but glance back at him from time to time. The morning sunlight causes shadows to contour his features.
“Morning, Sunshine,” his groggy voice broke the silence as he sat up and rubbed the sleep from his eyes.
“Morning,” you whispered back, a flutter in your stomach at the sight of him. It didn’t take long before he made his way over to you. “How’d you sleep?”
His smile was warm as he leaned down to place a kiss against your cheek. “That was the best night's sleep I’ve ever had,” his breath was warm against your skin, causing your cheeks to flush.
“You looked so peaceful,” your voice tender as you reached out to rub a thumb over his cheek. His gaze softened, bringing his hand up to cover yours, his thumb tracing circles on the back of your hand.
“It’s because I was with you,” his eyes filled with sincerity as he whispered, turning his head to place a soft kiss in the middle of your palm.
In that moment, surrounded by the quiet intimacy, your stomach reminded you that you hadn’t eaten since lunch the previous day. After exchanging a quick look with Bucky, he told you to go and enjoy breakfast, he declined your offer of sneaking him something to eat, explaining he didn’t normally eat breakfast. He rubbed his thumb over your forehead, smoothing out the frown you gave him.
“Go on,” Bucky motioned toward your bedroom door. “Tell Steve and whoever else you need to that you’re staying late to use the library.” You gave him a questioning look as you watched him slip his boots on. “We’re going on a date.”
~
When returning to your room, it was empty. The bed had been neatly made and a leather jacket lay across the foot of the bed. Did he forget it? Feeling the pressure from Steve calling your name, you stuffed it into your backpack and grabbed your books.
Throughout the day, you and Bucky stole glances at each other whenever you could. Silent conversations in passing despite the distance between you. It was the start of a delicate dance of secrecy.
As the final bell rang, you couldn’t help but feel excited. The thought of seeing Bucky again, actually going on a date. Your first date, ever. It made you walk a little bit faster toward the library.
~
Your heart raced as you hurried to the library, eager for the evening ahead. Bucky was already waiting, his eyes lit up immediately when you walked in. “Hey again, Sunshine,” he greeted softly as you approached him. With the rush of adrenaline coursing through you, you sent him a quick “Hey,” back.
Together, you slipped out of the library, sneaking around the hallways. Both keeping your wits about you in case anyone who would have cared saw you together. Once you both found your way out of the building, the cool afternoon air hitting you, you searched the parking lot for his bike.
“So, where are we going?” you asked, trying to contain your excitement. As you reached the bike, it was starting to become muscle memory for Bucky to hand you his helmet and help you up.
“It’s a surprise,” he teased, lifting you gently by the waist and setting you onto the bike.
~
Arriving at your destination, you took in the view of an old diner that was tucked just outside of town. The glow of the neon signs illuminated the car park and a few outdoor seating. Bucky parked the bike in a space just outside the main window. You could already see the milkshakes and burgers that were being prepared in the kitchen area.
Walking into the diner, Bucky held your hand and guided you through the door and to an empty booth. As you sat across from each other, you exchanged hesitant glances, both of you uncertain about how to process.
Clearing his throat, Bucky broke the awkward silence. “Do you want a menu?” he asked, reaching to the end of the table where the menus stood. You nodded, mumbling a thank you as he passed you one.
“I love the vibe here,” you spoke, trying to ease more of the tension. “I didn’t know it was even here.” As you looked through the menu, your eyes lit up when reading all the different types of milkshakes. A small smile tugged at Bucky’s lips as he watched you taking it all in.
“Yeah, it’s got that classic 40s feel to it,” he visibly relaxed as the conversation began to find its footing. “That period has always been interesting to me,” he confessed. You looked up admirably at him, he had never told you anything like that about himself.
As you both got into more small talk, asking about each other’s days and what you were planning on ordering, a waitress approached with a friendly smile and took your orders. A strawberry milkshake and cheeseburger, Bucky agreed. “I’ll have what she’s having.”
The small talk began about while you waited for your order, at some point you remembered his jacket was still in your backpack. “You forgot this, by the way,” you took out the jacket out and began to pass it over to him.
“I didn’t forget it,” he waved his hand toward it, motioning that he didn’t want to take it. “I prefer it on you.” his signature smirk made its way across his face. Your cheeks flushed as he motioned for you to put it on. Which you did without hesitation, welcoming the extra warmth it brought you.
~
The atmosphere felt like it had become light as you both enjoyed your meal, yet there was still a lingering tension beneath it all. Bucky glanced at you after the waitress cleared away your empty plates.
“I, um, I think there’s something we need to talk about,” he began tentatively.

Y/N sat up in bed, gasping. It took her a moment to come to her senses and when she realized she’d been dreaming again, her heart sank.
Was this to be her life now, forever? For the last three nights in a row she’d awoken in the middle of the night, her body aching and sweaty. She never remembered details of the dreams, just blurry images and sensations. She remembered heat, she remembered the feeling of hands on her, teasing her and torturing her with pleasure. She woke up aching for something she couldn't explain, something all-consuming that stole her breath away.
And a pair of green eyes mocked her.
Dean had lied to her. He had given her his promise that he would leave her alone, that he would stop his seduction. But he hadn't. For the last three days every move he made had been calculated to tease and seduce her.
She sat across the table from him at supper every evening and tried as hard as she could to keep from staring at him. She concentrated on her plate, pushing the food around, and doing everything she could not to pay attention to his conversation, to ignore his sarcastic wit and endless charm. She failed.
The other day she’d been sitting with Jessica and Lucy in the kitchen. Sophie had stayed home that day because of a head cold, and Jessica had decided to take the opportunity to teach Lucy some things about cooking. She was making a simple vanilla pudding and Lucy was doing much more tasting than cooking. But they were having fun and Y/N was starting to think that she should let the mother and daughter have the time to themselves, when Dean walked into the kitchen.
Before he could get more than a foot inside the door, Jessica stuck a wooden spoon full of warm pudding into his mouth.
"What do you think of your niece's pudding?"
"Mmm…" Dean said around a mouthful of pudding. He chuckled, and nodded, using his thumb to sweep up a bit that clung to his bottom lip. He sucked the dessert from the tip of his thumb, and Y/N knew that her depravity had reached new heights as her stomach clenched and heat suffused her body at the innocent action.
Then he reached around Jessica to scoop up some more with his forefinger, sticking it into his mouth as well and Y/N began to wonder if it was a calculated move.
"Delicious!" He said before he turned toward her. The heat in his gaze began to convince Y/N that he was indeed doing it on purpose. She still hadn't been sure though, since he only nodded in her direction and walked out the kitchen door. Was he still trying to seduce her? She hadn't known.
But then yesterday afternoon, all doubt had left her mind.
Lucy had gone down for her nap and Y/N decided to get out of the house and enjoy the brisk October air in an attempt to clear her head. She wandered away from the house and toward the pond that sat just past the western edge of the Winchester property.
As she approached the pond, the trees thinned slightly and she could see it. When she was still twenty or thirty feet away she froze. Emerging from the water, in nothing but his dripping wet, long, white cotton underwear, was Dean.
Y/N couldn't have looked away if someone had threatened her life.
Dean's body was all broad, thick muscle; every inch looked like it had been sculpted by a master artist. He ran a hand through his hair and reached for a towel that sat on a tree stump nearby. Every time he moved, corded muscles in his arms and back stretched and pulled, making Y/N's heart pound even harder.
Watching him from afar became painful. She wanted so badly to run to him, to feel his skin warm up under her fingers, to run her hands over his body and feel it move. She wanted to be pulled into his strong embrace and have him kiss her. She realized suddenly that she wanted to kiss not just his lips, but his whole body. She wanted to touch and press and kiss all the skin she could see as she watched him rubbing himself briskly with the towel.
At that moment, he had looked in her direction and she knew he must be able to see her through the trees. She wanted to bolt, but her legs were anchored to the ground. He stopped what he was doing, pausing for a moment before beginning to walk in her direction. That had caused enough panic that she had forced herself to immediately run in the opposite direction.
This convinced Y/N that Dean was still trying to seduce her. Who went swimming in a freezing cold pond in October? Only a man who knew she would be there to see him emerging in all his statuesque glory, Y/N thought. He had to have known she was coming. Perhaps he heard her tell Jessica where she was going. He was doing it on purpose.
He had to be.
He lied to her and she was going to confront him about it.
The following afternoon, Y/N went looking for him. He wasn't in the library, and he wasn't in the orchard. Finally she found him, sitting on the tree stump by the pond. At least he had pants on this time.
He stood up and turned as he heard her approaching. His expression was unreadable as she stopped in front of him. She let her anger show.
"You lied to me."
"Excuse me?"
"You heard me." Y/N's breath was quick and fast because close up she could see the water dripping down from his still wet hair. She watched a drop wind its way down over his collarbone and chest. When she looked into his eyes, the intensity there stole her words. She spun away and tried to leave. This had been a bad idea.
Before she could get very far, Dean reached her and grabbed her upper arm. He turned her to look at him again. "When did I lie to you?" He asked, a frown etching itself into his beautiful features.
Y/N tried to pull her arm away, but he held on. It made her angry and she shouted at him.
"You promised you would leave me alone, that you would stop trying to seduce me. But you haven't stopped, you've kept right on trying to get to me."
Dean took two steps forward, and pressed her up against the trunk of a wide, oak tree. "You told me to stop, and I have. I have barely spoken to you in the last three days. I have avoided you at every opportunity."
"Liar." Y/N said quietly.
Dean's eyes got dark and angry. "I am not a liar."
Y/N became disdainful. "Oh, so it's just a coincidence that you came into the kitchen the other day licking pudding from your fingers and that you have now, two days in a row, been here at the pond, practically naked at the exact time of day that you know I am unoccupied. You are a liar and a libertine."
Dean looked furious. "I am here because I assumed you would be in the house, and I didn't want to be tempted to join you in the library. I am here because I need to douse my body in icy freezing water every day to even try to make it through. I am doing everything I can to keep my promise."
Dean's eyes flicked down to Y/N's mouth and he bit his bottom lip. "But maybe you're here because you want me to break it."
He had come a little too close to the truth, and it made Y/N angrier. "How dare you? I'm here simply to confront you over your broken promise. You ARE still trying to seduce me!"
They stood for a moment, Dean holding her upper arms, pressing her back against the tree, both of them breathing rough.
Then suddenly Dean was crushing her mouth with his and her heart and body rejoiced. His tongue swept into her mouth, tasting her over and over. Then his lips were on her neck, nibbling and kissing, he found a spot just behind her earlobe and his breath there caused a shiver to run through her whole body.
He pulled open the buttons of her lilac blouse, and she knew some of them ripped off, bouncing away in the grass by the pond. He cupped one breast through her thin chemise, rubbing his thumb across the nipple and then swallowing her shout of pleasure with another all-consuming kiss.
He pulled down the strap of her chemise, baring her left breast. The cold air was quickly replaced by his wet, warm mouth. He brought her nipple into his mouth and sucked on it hard. Y/N was suddenly aware of a warm liquid pooling between her legs and she cried out.
Dean didn't silence the cry this time. Instead, he lifted her skirts and through her drawers, she felt his hand cup her most intimate spot, rubbing gently. Her knees gave way and it was only the pressure of Dean's body against her that held her upright. With his arm at her back, he lowered her slowly to the leafy ground. He kissed her again before returning to her breast.
She was lost in a haze of color and sensation; it was like her dreams but so much more. There was more sensation, more aching, more ravenous hunger for something she couldn't name.
Dean said something to her, but she couldn't understand it.
"I said open your eyes, Y/N."
Her eyes popped open to see him above her, his face taut and strained. A muscle jumped in his jaw. "Answer me."
She shook her head to show that she hadn't heard the question.
Dean grazed her nipple with his thumb before speaking.
"My mouth is at your breast, yes?" He dipped his head again, gently biting the side of her breast. "Yes?"
She nodded, incoherent.
"And my hand is up your skirts." He rubbed her again and she arched her back instinctively. "Yes?"
"Yes!" The word was a gasp.
"Can I take you now?" His voice was deep and thick, filled with heat.
"Yes! God, yes!" she shouted, desperate.
Time froze for a moment before Dean pulled away from her. She opened her eyes to see him sitting up beside her. His expression was pained and angry. He pointed a finger at her. "THAT is seduction."
Before she could even acknowledge him, he had bounded to his feet, grabbed up his shirt and stormed away.
She laid frozen a moment more, before she pulled her chemise back up and pulled down her skirt which was up around her thighs. She pulled the two sides of her blouse together as the tears started. She curled in on herself, crying as quietly as she could, knowing without a doubt that her mother had been right all along.
***
Dean slammed the door to his bedroom closed and crossed to his dresser. He splashed whiskey into a glass and downed it. He poured another and did the same. Neither helped and he smashed the glass against his wall.
Damn her! Damn her to hell!
How dare she accuse him of lying, or breaking his word? Did she not understand how hard he'd been fighting the last few days? Did she not realize that twice a day he was at the bloody pond, trying desperately to freeze her image out of his head? Every time he saw her it became harder and harder to keep his hands off of her.
But he had, he had respected her wishes, and stayed away. Then yesterday she came to the pond. When he saw her standing there, the scenario immediately began to play itself in his mind; laying her down, covering her body with his own, watching the cool air raise goose bumps on her wet skin where his mouth had been.
But she ran off immediately and he had returned to the icy water.
When he saw her there today, the hope had come back instantly. But instead, she'd called him a liar and accused him of trying to seduce her all along.
So, he'd rashly decided to show her what a real seduction felt like. He hadn't meant it to go so far; a kiss or two, maybe more. He hadn't meant to touch her like he did, to feel her innocent passion and fire burst open.
It was only his guilt that had stopped him from actually taking her there by the pond, his knowledge that he was in fact, now breaking his promise. His whole body had scolded him when he got up and left. But it was his mind that was admonishing him now.
In his mind's eye he could see Y/N lying vulnerable and confused on the ground where he had left her. He had toyed with her and left her there alone. It was a despicable thing to do. He had never acted that way before. It was cruel. He wanted to go to her immediately and apologize, beg her forgiveness, but he was sure that would only make things worse.
He was leaving tomorrow. It was better to just leave and let her get on with her life with him nowhere near it. It was better for them both.
***
Y/N didn't go down to dinner that night. She sat in her bedroom, watching her bedside clock tick away the hours. She didn't even speak to Sophie when she left a supper tray on her desk. With the exception of checking on Lucy twice after Jessica put her to bed, for the rest of the evening she didn't move from the window seat that overlooked the back garden.
Thankfully Lucy slept easily and soundly, so that when the clock struck midnight, Y/N felt safe to sneak out of her bedroom and down the stairs to the guest room.
She knocked on the door and then worried when it took a moment to open. Perhaps he was already sleeping. But the door opened and Dean stood staring at her for a minute before he grabbed her wrist and yanked her into his room. He stuck his head out in the hall and looked left and right, making sure no one else was around. Then he closed the door and turned back to her, looking stunned. Before he could ask any questions, she launched herself at him.
She had no wiles, so she simply kissed him as she'd wanted to for days. He was already bare-chested, so she ran her hands over every inch of his back, chest, and stomach that she could reach. His skin was smooth and warm and she clung to him, reaching up to pull his lips to hers again and again.
After a minute, Dean pulled his mouth away, out of breath and panting. But she simply moved on to kissing his neck. He smelled incredible, and she found herself nipping at and licking his throat, wanting to gobble him up.
Finally Dean wrapped his hands around her upper arms and pushed her to arms length, holding her there while he breathed roughly as though he'd just run a race. "Y/N, stop." He said between breaths.
She broke free of his grip and immediately wrapped her arms tightly around his neck and pressed her lips to his again. He hesitated a moment before he groaned and she felt his arms tighten around her waist as he hauled her up against him, lifting her a few inches off the floor. He slanted his mouth over hers, finding her tongue with his own and doing battle.
He set her back on the ground and holding her head in place with one hand, he pulled down the shoulder of her nightgown with the other. He kissed his way from her neck to her shoulder before burying his face in the crook of her neck and grazing the sensitive area with his teeth.
Quite suddenly he wrenched himself away and pulled her off of him again. "This has to stop." She came at him again, but he backed up and held up his hands. "Y/N, stop. What are you doing?"
The look of confusion and incredulity on his face snapped something in Y/N. It felt like a fog lifted from her in that moment and she suddenly realized that she was in a man's bedroom, in her nightgown, in the middle of the night, throwing herself at him, literally.
Mortification hit her and she hid her face in her hands as she dashed toward the door. Dean caught her just as she reached it and managed to get between her and the door. "Y/N, please, talk to me."
She just shook her head and spun away, burying her face in her hands again and beginning to cry in earnest. Dean led her over to his desk and sat her in the leather chair there. He left for a moment and came back with a glass of whiskey. She tried to get a handle on her emotions, brushing away tears and sipping the whiskey. This time she welcomed the burning in her throat as a helpful pull back to reality. She continued to cry however, as she spoke quietly.
"Oh, Dean, I'm so sorry. I'm so humiliated." She dropped her head into her hand. "I'm an animal."
"Y/N," he began, dropping to his haunches beside the chair, but she cut him off.
"No, Dean, I mean it. What kind of woman am I? I spend all day thinking about you, consumed by you. I think about kissing you, I think about touching you. My skin burns for you to touch me. And I just ache Dean; I don't know how to explain it. No matter what I do, my body aches. I don't know how to fix it." She raised her gaze to his. "Please say you can fix it."
Dean's eyes were a deep jade green in the candlelight and she saw the heat burning there and was hopeful. But then he stood up and backed away from her.
"Y/N, I'm so sorry. What I did to you today was despicable. I never should have done it."
Y/N shrugged. "Well, I can hardly say I didn't want you to."
Dean shook his head. "That's not the point. Your passion, Y/N, it's not a game, not a toy for me to play with and then abandon. And it's not a weapon for me to wield against you just because you made me mad. That's what I did today and I'm so sorry."
Dean cupped her cheek and she couldn't help leaning into his palm. "It's fine, Dean. I know you were telling the truth, I believe you when you say you weren't trying to seduce me. Clearly you don't actually have to do anything to seduce me. I just wanted to blame my wanton behavior on something." Her eyes got watery again as she thought about what a trollop she was.
Dean took the whiskey out of her hand, and set it on the desk. Then he scooped her up and sat in the leather chair himself, sitting her sideways on his lap, and settling her comfortably against his chest. She felt safe and calm for the first time in days and even though the ache was still there, in this position her head was tucked under his chin and she could trail her hand across his chest which felt amazing.
She was fascinated by the long, thin trail of hair that disappeared just below his beltline, like it was pointing to something. She began to run her fingers over his lower abdomen combing her nails through the short hair, but Dean let out a groan that was half growl and laid his larger hand over hers, so that she was forced to stop.
He took in several deep breaths before speaking. "Y/N, you need to know that what you feel is perfectly natural and normal. A lot of men and women feel this way; we're supposed to feel this way for each other. You're not wanton, you're not abnormal, you're human and you're attracted to me." He paused and she could hear the smile in his voice. "And who could blame you."
She pulled her head out from under his chin to look at him and sure enough, he wore his cocky grin. She rolled her eyes and he chuckled and took the opportunity to kiss her swiftly. In the mere second that his lips were on hers, the fire spiked again in her blood and she desperately wanted it to last longer.
When he pulled away, she pulled him back. She stared at his beautiful face, and ran her hand across his high cheekbones, and square jaw. Her fingertips skimmed along his strong brow bone before trailing down to his lips. They were slightly parted and she traced the outline of them, before daring to lean in and place a light, gentle kiss at the corner of his mouth.
She pulled back and looked into his intense green gaze. It was full of heat that she now recognized and understood, heat that caused a riot of butterflies to explode in her stomach.
"Dean." Her voice was a whispered breath. "Dean, please?" She really didn't know what she was asking for; she just knew he was the answer.
He plunged his hand into her hair and grabbed her neck, bringing her lips to his. His mouth worked its way down her neck until he reached the neckline of her nightgown and the row of buttons that closed it. He began to unbutton it, placing a kiss on each spot that became exposed. Finally it was open enough for him to reach a hand inside. He cupped her breast and gently squeezed, causing Y/N to gasp. He began to move the pad of his thumb around her nipple in circles, pressing and squeezing. The actions sent a jolt of fire to her core and made her abdominal muscles clench.
Her head fell back, exposing her neck and she felt Dean's mouth there, wet and warm. His tongue made little circles on her skin, and she had to bite her lip to keep from crying out.
"Dean!" Her voice was a hoarse whisper. Her head swam.
He lifted his head from her neck and cupped the back of her head, raising it, so she was looking him in the eye.
"Do you trust me?" He asked.
"Yes." She said simply, not stopping to think about why it was true.
He put a hand under her knees and around her back and lifted her, carrying her to his bed. He laid her sideways across the bed and climbed in beside her. He propped himself on one elbow and began kissing her again, over and over, until she was nearly breathless. He took hold of her breast again and began his gentle torment.
His mouth replaced his fingers and Y/N clenched her fists in the sheets, desperately trying not to groan loudly. She felt his hands on her thigh as he pulled her nightgown up. He moved slowly and deliberately and a part of her mind knew he was giving her time to tell him to stop. But she wouldn't, she couldn't.
He moved away to stand at the side of the bed. "Stand up." He said and she did, standing close in front of him.
"Lift your arms."
She did as he asked and he gathered her nightgown in his hands, before lifting it over her head.
He tossed the garment aside and Y/N quickly became unbearably shy. She had never been naked in front of another person, not since she was a very little girl. She crossed an arm over her chest, and covered her lower body with the palm of her hand.
Dean's eyes blazed as he reached out to move her arms away from shielding herself. "Please don't hide." He pleaded gruffly.
The desire she could see on his face as he looked at her made Y/N feel more bold and confident. She'd never really felt beautiful, but Dean's expression left no doubt how he felt about her appearance.
He pushed her gently down on the bed again. He stood over her and his gaze alone caused her blood to burn. He climbed onto the bed and straddled her, his knees on either side of her hips. The rough wool of his pants chafed against her overly sensitive skin.
He ran his fingertips lightly across her body, tracing her nipples and then her belly button. The light touches drove Y/N mad. She grabbed hold of his wrists, trying to force him to use more pressure. But he flipped her hold, so that he held her wrists, and then he pressed them into the mattress as he lowered himself to cover her completely.
He put his lips to her neck before he began to move slowly down her body, shifting to gain access to all of it. His clever mouth made a path straight to the core of her. Y/N was lost in a haze of sensation, but when she felt his tongue swirling around her belly button, her head popped up and she was about to ask what he was doing, when she suddenly felt his long finger slipping into the slick folds of her body.
He pressed on a button that nearly made a scream erupt. She had to shove a fist in her mouth to stop it. His mouth followed the path his fingers had taken and soon she could feel his tongue pressing the same ultra sensitive button. He alternated between his tongue and his fingers, making Y/N feel like an instrument whose keys were being expertly played.
The pressure in her kept building and building. The intensity of it scared her; the feelings were so sharp, so powerful.
She let out a little whimper and ran her fingers through Dean's hair. He looked up and rested his chin momentarily on her lower abdomen.
"It's alright, Y/N. You're safe." He moved himself so he was stretched out beside her.
"Let go. Just let go." He stroked her body again and she felt herself teetering at some unknown precipice.
He whispered into her ear, low and rough. "It's alright, sweetheart. Let go. I'll catch you, I promise." His finger rubbed against that magic little button two more times and suddenly Y/N felt as though something was exploding in her mind, behind her eyes. She screamed this time, she couldn't stop it. Thankfully Dean's mouth was there covering hers and muffling the sound.
Y/N felt as though hours may have passed while she returned to earth. She could hear the sound of her own heartbeat, feel it slamming against her ribs. She became aware that Dean had moved them to lie lengthwise on the bed, and had her tucked in close to him. He was propped up on an elbow beside her, stroking her cheek.
She opened her eyes and as soon as she saw his face, embarrassment flooded her at the way she'd behaved. She had lost all control and behaved like something wild. She brought her hands up and covered her face, turning to try and bury it in the pillow. But Dean was having none of it.
"No, there's no need for any of that." He said, pulling her hands away from her face. "Y/N, open your eyes. Look at me. Please?"
She couldn't deny the please, and looked at him, knowing her face was beet red.
He kissed her slowly and gently. When he pulled away he looked deep into her eyes. "Never be ashamed of that, Y/N. You have no idea how happy you made me. I have never seen anything more beautiful than you, coming apart in my arms."
Y/N continued to blush, but she also believed him. Because she felt beautiful; it had been beautiful.
"And the ache is gone now, right?" He asked, as he gathered her close and she laid her head on his chest.
She realized that it was. Her bones felt like liquid and her muscles felt like lead. All she wanted to do was close her eyes and soak up the feeling of being cocooned in Dean's arms. She closed her eyes and allowed herself the joy and peace of the moment.

Help
summary: Ghost knocks on your door at 3 am asking for help with something.
pairing: Simon "Ghost" Riley x Gender Neutral!Reader
word count: 1420 (nice)
warnings: mentions of anti-suicide chairs but nothing explicit is talked about.
a/n: i started this last night and finished it today while my head was hurting both times so sorry if this sucks. my requests are open and you can find my request rules here.
Tumblr media
The clock turns over to 3 am, and you’re finally getting ready for bed when you hear a knock at your door. Now, if you were any other soldier, 3 am would be a terrible wakeup call, with only 3 hours left of sleep and probably having been in the middle of their REM cycle. But your insomnia just wanted to be different.
You get about three hours of sleep a night, four if you’re lucky, but tonight seems to be an unlucky, two hours of sleep at most for you. It’s fine, maybe some extra aches and pains in the morning or nausea that you can't get rid of, but you’ve been living your whole life like this. You’ve got used to it.
The knock sounds again on the door, and you shout out, “Yeah, yeah, I’m comin’, I’m comin’.” You throw open the door and, standing in front of you, is Ghost, just his simple skull balaclava on, hands behind his back. “Oh! Ghost! What can I do you for?” you quip with an inviting smile.
“I need your help,” he says, series, causing your smile to drop for a moment. It’s only a moment though, as when he pulls his hands from behind his back, your smile returns, though this time it's a relieved smile.
He's holding a set of clippers in one hand, and a set of hair cutting scissors in the other.
You open the door wider in a silent invitation to come in. While Ghost sets the clippers and scissors on your dresser, you walk to the closet and pull out the tarp you stole from one of the many storehouses on base. No one made any mention of it being gone, so they either didn't notice, or Ghost may have pulled some strings.
You hear Ghost taking off his mask on the other side of the room and keep your head tilted down as you lay the tarp on the once light grey, short carpeted floor of your room. You grab the desk chair that rocks back and forth when you set it on the tarp. An anti-suicide chair that probably doesn’t work very well.
When you look back up at Ghost, you’re expecting him to have a black paper mask over his mouth and nose like he always does. But his face is bare.
Your eyes glance over his scarred face, tracing the scar that you knew ran from his eyebrow down to his chin, but now you can see the whole thing unobstructed. It bisects his lips, creating a permanent frown on one side of his face. His nose is crooked from being broken over and over again, and there’s what looks like a burn wound in his cheek, like he was poked with a hot poker.
When your eyes meet his deep brown ones, you can see genuine fear reflected back at you. You smile at him, and watch as a light blush blossoms on his face.
“Have a seat,” you say, breaking eye contact to collect the shears.
When Ghost sits down, you walk behind him, running your hands through his hair, scratching at his scalp with your nails. His eyes close slowly, and you smile as he relaxes into the chair.
The sound of the clippers fills the room as you cut his hair exactly how he likes it. It hasn't been that long since his last cut, but you know he hates the feeling of too much hair underneath his mask.
You shear down the sides and back and switch off the clippers, setting them aside before taking the scissors to the top of Ghost’s head.
His hair is blonde and curly, and when cut too short makes him look like a Roman in one of those movies, or like Cupid. You like to keep the top just a little longer to combat that, even if Ghost doesn’t get it.
“Where did you learn to cut hair?” Ghost asks quietly, and your heart pounds as you hear his voice unobstructed by a mask for the first time ever.
Ghost asks you this question every time you cut his hair. You think it’s because he thinks other people don’t like silence like he does. You don't mind. You’d do anything to make him comfortable.
“My mother was a hairdresser. She would bring me to work when I didn’t have school,” you say, continue to shape Ghost’s hair. “She would teach me how to cut hair as she worked on clients. She didn't make enough money to support herself as she got older, and it got harder for her to take on more clients.” You tilt Simon’s head back, so he’s looking into your eyes. “It’s why I joined the military. Any money I make goes directly to her.”
Ghost closes his eyes, and you continue to work, but they open again when you pause, just looking into Simon’s face. Your free hand is carding through his hair, nails scratching at his scalp. Your eyes are looking at his soft looking lips, and he bites his bottom lip for a moment before releasing it. You let out a small gasp as he does so, hand tightening in his hair ever so slightly.
The flush darkens on the apples of his cheeks, and you feel yourself leaning down slowly. Your head is pounding, and your heart is stuttering in time with your breathing. You’re moving slowly, giving Ghost time to move or push you away, but he doesn’t. He continues to stare up at you as you lean over.
Your eyes slip shut, and your lips meet his. His lips are just as soft as you thought they would be, and they part slightly in a gasp. After a moment, you pull away.
“I’m sorry,” you say, feeling your face heat up.
Ghost’s eyes flutter open, and he reaches up, grabbing at your wrist that’s connected to the hand still in his hair. You let go of his blond locks, and he pulls your hand down to his face and kisses the inside of your wrist. “It’s okay,” he says with a small smile, and your heart thuds in your chest at seeing Ghost smile for the first time.
You feel your face turn even hotter, and you just stare at him, wide-eyed. When he finally lets go of your wrist, you place it back in his hair again, coming through it as you cut it once more.
You can't keep the smile off your face as you shape the rest of his hair.
Finally, you put the scissors down next to the clippers and run both your hands through his hair, shaking it out to get as much cut hair out of it as possible. When you think it’s good enough, you take a step back.
“Do you want to look at it?” you ask, knowing what he's going to say anyway. It’s part of the routine.
“No, thank you,” he says, like always.
You nod and smile, waiting for him to stand up and get off the tarp to let you clean up. While he puts on his mask again and grabs his clippers and scissors, you move your chair back to its desk and fold up the tarp, so none of the hair gets out, before carting it into the bathroom to throw out the hair.
When you’re finally done with that, you walk back out into your room, and startle when you see Ghost is still standing there, waiting. You fold up the tarp and place it in your closet before walking over to him.
He’s wearing his mask once more, but the bottom is pulled up to his nose, exposing his mouth.
“Do you need anything else?” You ask. This is routine. Then again, neither was the kiss.
He shakes his head. “Just wanted to say goodnight.”
“Oh!” you exclaim. “Good-”
He cuts you off, leaning in and kissing you again. This time, he kisses back, placing a hand on the nape of your neck as you grab at the T-shirt that’s right across his shoulders. You lean into the kiss, trying to press your body to his, but eventually you need to swim up for air.
You pull away, panting, and your eyes flutter open as Ghost says, “Goodnight,” before kissing you quickly one last time and turning on his heel, walking out your door.
The door closes, and you stand there, watching it, and bring your fingers up to your lips, trying to

Love that Beat Vanity
Scaramouche/GN! Reader - Forced Established Marriage
TW: Domestic Abuse, Emotional Abuse, Verbal Abuse
A/N: HELLO! Thank you for reading my goofy little oneshots once again. I've decided to have every Scaramouche fics I write on this acc to have some kind of continuation. So, if you have read my previous works, the reader's lore will be the same throughout this series. But you don't have to read the previous works to catch up with the story since I wrote it as oneshots, scenarios and whatnot.
If you choose not to read the previous works, Reader was an orphan who survived stealing from people but stole from the wrong person one time and was taken and placed in a human trafficking ring, Scaramouche bought her to work at for the Fatui and the rest is history.
-----
It has been 5 years since Scaramouche has taken you as his spouse. You have still not adapted well into this new "domestic" life that was forced onto you by your husband. The lessons you have to keep taking because you can't make yourself to remember it all, has started to take a toll on your body.
Sleep has been difficult to achieved, it might be near impossible as your husband demands for the two of you to sleep together in the same bed, as husband and spouse. But try as you might to close your eyes, the moment you feel his arms snake around your waist, you freeze up like a statue and not sleep until you pass out from exhaustion. However, when you wake up from fainting, you'll feel the blanket placed properly on top of you, the bed side where your husband would always lay on, cold.
You have no doubt that Scaramouche loves you, too much in fact.
Early in the morning, he would leave you in bed and attend to his harbinger duties. Not a single item of his was ever misplaced whenever he fixes himself up. His sakura blossom perfume would always be placed in it proper spot and his brush to add the rouge over his eyelids were clean from any color, as if it was never even used.
Tidiness can't be said the same to your vanity table. Although you rarely use the furniture as it was intended, you do use it as something to leave the fabrics that you have meticulously stitched from the lessons that Scaramouche forced on you. They were ugly, so you have no idea why your husband lets you leave them in the open.
Your 'lovely' Scaramouche once commented on how your needlework was "god awful that even a child can do better". You might not have expressed it physically, but it hurt to hear him say that. Blood was spilled when you were creating your first fabric But you learned the truth later on that the first finished fabric you have created was hidden in the drawer of his office.
It makes your heart confused on why he has to resort to harsh tactics to get a semblance of your "love". Why can't your husband act like a normal person?
Mornings has been something you have been waiting for every single day for the past 5 years. For the whole morning, you have the manor all to yourself. A place for you to be alone with your thoughts. But when the hour hand reaches 12 PM, your teacher for that day will be coming to teach you another useless skill that you will never remember.

"Heaven's Light"
Summary: Rollo has been eyeing y/n since her arrival, seeing you as the diamond amongst coals. At the Ball, his feelings culminate into a confession, but he didn't expect her reply...
Pairing: Rollo×F!Reader
Warnings: Y/n is lonely and ignored by NRC boy, first love, possible OOC, not edited, Lots of Fluff, the Rollo brain rot is real
Note: This is a lot longer than I intended! I hope everyone going through Rollo brain rot enjoys and if you are interested in reading an SFW or NSFW epilogue, let me know! If you would like to read the other parts in what I am calling my "Glomas Series" I will put links below! "She Blazes Me Beyond all Control" ft. Azul, Idia, and Malleus "I Feel Her, I See Her " ft. Riddle, Deuce, Ruggie, and Jamil
Tumblr media
"Who might you be miss?"
Y/n gave a kind smile and nodded her head in greeting "I'm y/n, it's nice to meet you," she stayed next to Trein as she was there as his assistant.
"Yuu is our magicless perfect of Ramshackle. She will be working as my assistant throughout the trip," Trein added.
She felt Rollo's eyes scan her, and, unlike his greetings to the rest, he held out a hand. Being poilet, she offered her hand as well, and he lifted it to his lips, grazing her knuckles quickly.
"It is a pleasure to meet you, y/n. I understand it must be difficult, being surrounded by mages every second of the day. I hope you get a chance to relax this trip." Y/n blushed at the motion and bit her lower lip. All the while she could feel some of the others glaring daggers at her and Rollo.
"I-I'll do my best..." Y/n replied. Throughout the entire trip, Rollo seemed to gravitate towards y/n and used every excuse to isolate her from the group. They chatted about her difficulties at NRC and at the festival. As they chatted, she felt more and more drawn to the Student Council President
This all accumulated at the Masquerade. Rollo had given Y/n a proper dress for the occasion instead of the attire his counsel had chosen. The red fabric decadently adorned her figure and stunned the NRC boys with its beauty. But before any of them could ask for a dance, Rollo stole y/n away. He whisked her to the dance floor, and they started chatting.
It all felt like a dream, a wonderful, beautiful dream. Even though Rollo had tried to destroy magic, he was also the only person during all her time in Twisted Wonderland that she felt seen. The boys had always pushed her to the side, even when she was the only one whom the fire lotuses couldn't hurt but instead of including her in the plan, she was put on babysitting duty. Even at NRC, she was the one who dealt with the overblots, yet never thanked or even recognized as a full student.
Then she met Rollo and ever since their meeting, he treated her like a person. He recognized all she did for the boys and thanked her for her contributions. He even set aside time to show her around. Y/n never believed in "love at first sight," but ever since Rollo's lips grazed her knuckles, she felt her heart do somersaults around the stoic 3rd year.
Now, he asked her to dance. She felt like the Glass Princess dancing with her prince and just like the Glass Princess, she knew this would only last until Midnight. By this time tomorrow, she would be back at NRC. Back to being invisible.
As the song came to a close, she thought her night was over, but he must have been thinking about the same thing.
"Y/n, can I show you something?" He asked as the music quieted for a small interlude before the next song began. His face may appear as stone, but his blue eyes quivered. He was nervous.
Y/n nodded, "Sure."
Rollo, being a gentleman, offered her his arm. Determined to enjoy the moment, y/n leaned into Rollo as he escorted her out of the ballroom and up to the empty balcony on the upper level of the ballroom. The sun was set and the night sky was stunning, but what Rollo wanted to show y/n was the city at night. It was like a starry night itself as the city lamps and lights twinkled. It was stunning.
"Rollo, this is beautiful..."
"Y/n, stay here with me." Y/n turned to look at Rollo in shock and confusion, "Those fools at NRC do not deserve your purity. They treat you like a ghost. And I-" Rouge graced his pale cheeks and he looked into her (e/c) eyes, "I-I... I can't bear the thought of you leaving. You belong here. with me." He places his cold hand atop hers, "Let this be your sanctuary."
Y/n's heartbeat rose into her throat and before she could properly think what he said through, her heart spoke first, "Yes."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rollo was prepared for her to shoot him down, uprooting her heart like they did his flowers. What he wasn't prepared for her to accept.
Nothing this Halloween went as planned. His plot to destroy magic failed, Malleus and the fools at NRC destroyed his flowers, and y/n waltzed into his life.
He had read about true love and deemed it poppycock. There was no such thing. Then he saw her in her NRC uniform and his heart felt like it leaped out of his chest and into the sky. She was a pure flame burning in his chest and distracting him. He tried to ignore it, but any time he saw her that plan quickly became impossible.
He reworked his original plan to ensure she would be unharmed and fall into his arms at the same time. The first part of his plan failed, but he couldn't lose her. She was the last flame he had left.
Rollo was so sure of himself at first. He sent her a new dress, a proper one that enhanced her beauty far more than the one his counsel chose, he fixed the ballroom himself, he made sure to be her first dance, he read up on how to court a lady, prepared what he would say to her as they danced, and how he would ask her to stay and be his. Though much like his original plan with the fire lotuses, the moment he saw her. She was stunning, so stunning that he almost forgot everything he prepared. Thankfully, he regained his composer before he asked her to dance.
Now he felt his nerves resurface as it came time for him to confess. All his confidence and preparation failed to calm his beating heart. Thoughts raced through his mind as they walked to the balcony. What if she says no? What if she rejects me? What if I misread all of our interactions? he thought as they went out into the cool night air. Should I just keep my mouth shut? Abandon ship before it sinks...
Then he saw her eyes light up as she saw the city at night. The lights aglow, the soft mummer of music coming from the ballroom, and he knew he had to try.
"Y/n, stay here with me." He blurted out before he could convince himself otherwise, he decided to let his heart speak for once and not let his head take control. ""Those fools at NRC do not deserve your purity. They treat you like a ghost. And I-" he paused for a second and felt the fire in his chest grow brighter and brighter, "I-I... I can't bear the thought of you leaving. You belong here. with me." He places his cold hand atop hers, "Let this be your sanctuary."
Silence. He averted his eyes and clenched his handkerchief in his pocket.
His doubts returned and he prepared himself for rejection. He started to form a retraction in his mind, but she, yet again, surprised him.
"Yes." She said, her (e/c) eyes glimmered like stars and her voice rang like the Bell of Solace. "I-I'll stay with you."
Rollo felt his heart stop. He looked her in the eyes again and squeezed her hand. "You mean it." He removed his free hand from his handkerchief and placed it tentatively on her cheek, "Y-you'll stay?"
She placed her hand stop his and leaned into his touch, "I do." He could see tears forming in the corner of her eyes, "I don't want to leave you either."
On pure impulse, he pulled her into a tight embrace. Half of him was convinced that she would disappear if he let her go, and the other half was relieved. She felt the same as him. She wanted to be with him.
"Rollo, you're shaking," She commented as she returned his embrace. He didn't realize he was shaking so much. It must be the relief of her accepting his proposal. She looked up at him and placed a hand on his cheek. Her skin was warm and comforting.
"I guess I am..." He said and placed his own hand on top, "This is just what you do to me, my Flame."
She giggled and her melodious laugh made him respond with one of his own. "Do I?" she responded.
"Yes," He gently moved a strand of her hair away from her face and his eyes landed on her lips. Those beautiful red lips beckoned his own, "You have set my heart ablaze and it makes me want to listen to my heart instead of my head."
"And what is your heart telling you to do now?" She asks in a teasing manner.
"To do this," He leaned in and kissed her. it was gentle, nervous at first. Then as he realized she was reciprocating, he deepened the kiss. They parted for a moment to catch their breath before claiming another kiss, then another. Solidifying their love above the City of Flowers.
Rollo may have failed to rid the world of magic, but he found his new Heaven's Light.

no more secrets || max verstappen 1
words: 0.9k (finally a drabble under 1k words lol) I just want to thank you all once again for the requests! It means a lot to me! I hope you all like this cute drabble for Max. I know it took quite a while, but lately hasn't been the best time for me mentally. Also, I'm thinking of starting an actual series, like a bigger story with multiple episodes. Let me know what you think of the idea, I already have a small plot in my head :)
My 700 drabbles requests are closed, however, you can still send in regular requests through my askbox
Tumblr media
The man that has secured his second world championship. The man that won 15 races this season. The man that will get another trophy at this year’s FIA gala. And the man that stole your heart from day one.
You and Max had been together for almost a year now, you started dating right at the beginning of 2021, after being friends with his sister for 3 years. You were always supportive of him, cheering him on, basically being one of his friends as well. However, you did not expect it to become more than just friends, because neither of you ever showered interest in each other.
Abu Dhabi, 2021. It was one of the most intense races you or anyone in the Red Bull garage had ever seen. You were invited by Victoria, Max’ sister, because the two of you always got along great. You were holding each other’s hands as you watched the safety car enter the pitlane. Your heartbeat was going through the roof the moment Lewis sped up, Max going behind him like a lion going after his prey.
‘’He won! He, fucking, won!’’ You had your arms wrapped around Victoria’s neck, hugging her tightly as she jumped up and down, making you join her jumping. He won, and you couldn’t be prouder.
During the party you and Victoria were talking, and drinking, the latter being the reason for your actions later that evening as the two of you made the perfect plan to scare Max, in his hotel room. However, Victoria bailed on you as she went to her own hotel room instead, leaving you alone in Max’ room.
That evening resulted in you and Max making out, the both of you being absolutely wasted, and the next morning you discussed the things that happened, for as far as you could remember. The two sides of the stories of the things that you did know from last night creating the entire, completed story. You complemented each other.
Aside from your families and friends, nobody knew about your relationship, and that was something you’d like to keep that way. Not because Max wasn’t proud of you being on his side, no, the secret part of your relationship actually came from your side, since you weren’t ready to be in the public eye, yet. And Max respected that more than anything.
Whenever you went out, you remained his ‘friend’. But whenever you were out of the public eye, you were the cheesiest couple one could ever see. Holding hands, heated make out sessions or cuddles whenever you were with your friends or family were just a few of the many things you did.
You made up for the moments you weren’t affectionate in public was Max’ excuse whenever your friends told you to get a room. And you couldn’t agree with him more. The moments you were together with your friends or family were rare, especially with him being in the public eye almost 24/7. So, the moments you were able to hold hands, kiss, or be close to each other, you took. It made your relationship even more precious, because you always kind of stayed in that ‘first phase’ moment.
Now, weeks later, you were watching him get ready for his FIA gala. You had joined him, because what better city to be in with your loved one than Paris. You were walking towards your suitcase, the beautiful black sparkly dress with the open back appearing out of it.
Max looked at you through the mirror, a frown on his face as he tried to fix his bow. ‘’That’s a beautiful dress, lieverd.’’ He spoke. ‘’But why did you pack it?’’ darling
You simply smiled at your boyfriend before making your way over to him. He turned around, looking down at you as you fixed his bow for him. Your silence spoke louder than words, as it made him think twice.
‘’Are you joining me?’’ He asked with the widest smile the man could possibly give. You giggled, looking up into his eyes as you bit your lip slightly. As you nodded, Max laughed from happiness, picking you up which made you laugh as well.
‘’Max! put me down silly.’’ You giggled. ‘’I need to get dressed.’’
And that’s how your secret relationship turned out to be not so secret anymore. The two of you were the hot topic the moment the two of you walked on the red carpet, photographers taking millions of pictures of the ‘new’ couple.
Max also thanked you in his speech, a speech he had prepared and only hoped to bring out to the world rather sooner than later. And he got to do it, the smile on his face whenever he spoke about you could be seen from miles away.
The cherry on the pie came when, after his speech, he joined you back in the audience. As all eyes were on you, he simply did the one thing that confirmed it all. His lips pressed on yours for a single second, the both of you smiling as a bunch of lovesick teens.
‘’I love you, so much, and I can’t wait to show the world how lucky I am to have you on my side.’’

Jester Stole His Thorny Crown
Chapter Seven
He never had a choice in his life. His dreams were nothing more that that. Dreams. But then he met a lounge singer at his brother club and everything changed.

When she arrived at the lounge, the piano was already being played. She couldn't hear it until after she opened the door. Then, she stilled. It wasn't that she felt possessive over the piano, but nobody else had ever played it, nobody but Charles.
For the first time since they had met, he wasn't wearing a suit. His jeans were ridiculous, with the rips in the shapes of stars. But that wasn't what she was focused on.
The way he was playing, she hadn't taught him that.
When the door shut behind her, the playing stopped. He looked up, looking at her as she walked forward.
"Hey," he called. Just days before he had threatened her into going to dinner with him, and now he was acting like it never happened. "I wanted to talk."
She placed her bag on a chair and climbed onto the stage. If he wanted to talk, he could talk. It didn't mean she was going to listen.
Charles pressed a few more keys and turned his body around completely. Now facing her, she checked over his body, checked for any sign of the gun.
But he didn't have the gun. It wasn't tucked away in the waistband of his jeans, wasn't on the piano behind him.
At that, she was just a little more willing to listen to him.
"I want to apologise," he said. "To you. I want to apologise to you."
It was completely unexpected. She couldn't hide the shock written on her face, no matter how hard she tried.
"My judgement on how to handle... this... hasn't been good. I asked Arthur for advice, but God knows I'm terrible at following it," he said and gave a weak laugh.
But she didn't laugh. No, she couldn't. Not when she didn't know what was going on.
So, she asked just that. "What the fuck is going on?"
Something flittered across Charles's face, something indescribable, something she couldn't read. He ducked in a deep breath, steadying himself. "I think you're pretty," he said, his voice slightly strained. "Really pretty, actually."
She didn't quite know what to say. What could she say to that?
"I know this is unexpected, especially after... everything, but..." The words he was looking for, they weren't coming to him. Or maybe he realised there was nothing he could say that would get her to stop hating him. "Fuck," he spat and stood from the bench.
Suddenly, his hands were on her arms and his lips were on hers. Charles shut his eyes, trying to melt into it.
But she pulled away. The second she did, a crack! rang out as her hand met with his cheek. "Shit," Charles hissed in surprise as he held his cheek.
Her heart beat erratically in her chest and she held her hand over her mouth, surprise registered on her face. She'd slapped him. She'd slapped Charles Lelcerc, the crazy, dangerous brother in the Leclerc family.
He'd been slapped before, and those people had regretted it instantly.
A smile spread across his face and he stepped towards her. But, before he could reach her, she was running off of the stage and disappearing in the back room. Charles didn't move to follow. He sat back at the piano and pressed his fingers to the keys, playing once again.
When she got to the back room, she pressed her body against the door and locked it.
Finally alone, with a barrier between them, she breathed. Her back was still against the door, listening as the piano music started up again. He had kissed her. Why the hell had he kissed her?! What kind of game was this?
He hadn't chased after her when she slapped him, like she had expected him to. No, he had gone right back to the piano.
It wasn't like she hadn't thought about kissing him before. No matter how much he scared her, she still woke up after dreaming about him with an ache between her legs, a need settling in her stomach.
Those dreams, the many she'd had, she hadn't forgotten any of them. Not the one where Charles took her to the back office after a performance and made her see stars, not the one where he sat on the bench of the piano, bent her over his lap and spanked her ass raw.
Not the one where he kissed her slowly, took her hand and led her back to the car. In her dream, he'd taken her to his apartment. She'd never seen the inside of it before, but she dreamt about it. It would be neat and tidy, with art work on the walls, giving it life and colour. His kitchen would be a disaster. He'd have the best equipment, best toaster, best microwave, best blender, and he wouldn't be able to use any of it.
She touched her fingers to her lips. Maybe if he hadn't have been so threatening before, she would have gone with it, melted against his body, kissed down his neck until he was whining for more.
She wasn't the dominant type, not by a long shot, but she wanted things to to be on her terms.
Sucking in a breath, she unlocked the door. The piano grew louder as she marched her way back to the stage.
She didn't expect Charles to notice her right away. But of course he did. "I knew you had a feisty side," he said, not looking up from the piano keys.
She sat on the bench beside him. Still, Charles didn't look up. He kept playing.
That was until she grabbed his face. Her fingers gripped his cheeks and she pulled his face towards him, pulling his lips towards her own.
If Charles was surprised, he didn't let it show. He took over, moving his lips against her own as she wrapped her arms around his neck. His hands were against her waist, pushing her against the bench of the piano.
"Fuck," he managed to say through deep breaths, his forehead against her own. "Fuck."

NEXT CHAPTER
a.n. if i get anything wrong i’m blaming it on my shit memory and the fact that i haven’t finished acowar and haven’t read acofas and acosf. really just going off what i remember and what i’ve read in other fics. enjoy!
It has been three months since Feyre’s sisters were Made and subsequently brought to the Night Court. You’ve done what you could in aiding their transition to fae life, even getting as far as calling Nesta a friend, cold façade and all. But while you have gained a friend, you’re beginning to lose your best friend, and the male that you love, all at the same time.
It first started with him checking in for a second after the two of you had come back from being out and about in Velaris, then it turned to him apologetically explaining that he already had plans with Elain for the evening, and now, you hardly see him at all anymore.
It’s become more often than not that he spends his time with Elain, leaving you on the back burner, as a second thought to his plans now. You have other friends, yes, but you don’t remember a day where you haven’t at least sent notes back and forth to each other since you became close. It’s like you’re missing a part of you, something that is supposed to be there but isn’t anymore, and your body knows it. Why did it have to be him? She has a mate waiting for her for crying out loud, one who you can tell just genuinely wants to know her, and Azriel is entertaining her, knowing full well what her position is.
Guilt eats at you for these jealous feelings, knowing that the girl has been through so much when her entire life was ripped away and was literally turned into something that she was taught her entire life to fear. You want to be accepting and carefree about the situation, but it is literally impossible when you catch him looking at her with the intense adoration that you have yearned for decades for, and she has simply swooped in and stole him from you.
But tonight, you and Azriel have plans to go out into Velaris for the night for dinner. It’s your tradition that you’ve had for years to catch up after his return from his visits to the Illyrian camps, something to help him unwind. You just hope that for a single night that you can forget about it.
The new dress you bought just yesterday is a beautiful deep burgundy color, the hem falling just above your mid-thigh, long-sleeved, and the neckline plunges lower than what you are used to wearing. You were able to find a pair of nude heels that fit you perfectly in a corner shop. You were even successful in keeping your hair styled for the occasion. It was safe to say that you looked stunning, and there was a glimmer of hope that it wouldn’t be left unnoticed by him.
The heels’ click echoes off the paneled hallway as you scramble to finish getting ready, knowing that you need to leave. You stride into your bedroom, beelining for the jewelry tree on your vanity. Considering the colors that you’re wearing, you think a gold set would be the best, and you know exactly which to wear. Gently, you pick up the teardrop Alexandrite earrings and necklace that Azriel had bought you after one of his trips to the Summer Court. The gem’s color shifts between purple and green depending on the light source, easily making them your favorite pieces.
It hurts a bit when you try to put the earrings in, meeting a bit of resistance as it’s been a while since you’ve last worn any, but you’re able to get them through without too much trouble. The necklace thankfully clasps easily around your neck, the pendant falling in the middle of your chest. The delicate gold glitters in the candlelight, making you smile at the memory of Azriel giving it to you. With a shack of your head, you snap out of the memory’s haze, misting yourself with perfume as a last thought before leaving your bedroom.
The click of your heels echoes off the buildings lining the road as you make your way to Rhys’ townhouse to meet Azriel for drinks before dinner. The night’s cool breeze causes your flesh to break out in goose bumps, but it feels nice over all.
The door unlocks as you turn the knob, and the house becomes alight as you enter. The candles flicker to life to bring the house into a cozy atmosphere, and even the fireplace roars to life to stave off the last of the early spring chill.
The grandfather clock in the foyer chimes, signaling the turn of the hour at seven o’clock. Your heart flutters, excitement filling you knowing that he’ll be here any minute. You make your way into the kitchen, pulling out Azriel’s favorite whiskey and your favorite liqueur, grabbing two tumblers out of the cabinet to set it all out on the table.
Minutes tick by as you wait for him to winnow into the kitchen like he always does, a soft smile on his face as he holds out his elbow like the gentleman he is to winnow you wherever you want to go. You settle into a cushioned seat in the adjoining living room, picking up a book that has been left out and flipping open to the page that you had left on.
Those couple of minutes turn into five, then into fifteen, and then by thirty minutes, you’re constantly glancing between the clock and the kitchen, anxiety eating away at you. Azriel has never been late like this before, and if he’s ever late, it’s only by no more than five. Your stomach rumbles as hunger makes itself known, and you set down the book on the table to stand up. Maybe something happened that’s causing him to be late, but there’s a little voice that’s whispering to you, saying that he’s forgotten about you, that he’s preoccupied by a certain sister.
You shake your head, setting the book back into its spot to stand up and head back into the kitchen. You pour a drink and watch as the dark amber liquid swirls into the cup before settling around the ice. More minutes pass as you finish the drink only to pour another, still waiting, hoping that he will pop into the room, spewing apologies as he tries to explain why he was so late.
But it doesn’t happen. Instead, it is Rhys that winnows into the kitchen, startling you so bad you nearly fall off the stool.
“Mother, Rhys, give a girl a warning before you snap in like that,” you joke, righting yourself up. Your eyes meet his, and you’re confused because he’s confused, staring at you like you are crazy.
“What are you doing here? Are you meeting someone?” he asks, his head tilted slightly as he stares still.
There is a sinking feeling in your stomach, but you want so badly to be wrong about what’s happening.
“I’m meeting Az here. We’re supposed to be going out tonight like we always do when he comes back from the camps, but he’s late. Have you seen him by chance?” A look passes over Rhys’ face, and you recognize that look immediately, your face dropping, heart hammering as you wait for those few words.
“Oh, sweetheart, he left the House with Elain,” he whispered, like you would shatter at just those words, and you suppose you do.
Your breathing stutters, and it’s like the world goes fuzzy, the sounds muted as your breaks cracks. Never in all the years have you been friends with Azriel has he ever forgotten about your nights out when he comes back, let alone either forgetting or just flat out choosing to spend it with another female and not tell you. And of course, it’s with Elain.
Your lungs shake as you take your next breath, reality coming back into focus as you realize that Rhys is still in front of you, worry etched across his face as he too realizes what has happened. You knock back the rest of your drink, and your hands shake as you pick up the glasses to take care of them and to put the bottles away. In an effort to try to get Rhys to go away, to be alone, you put on a fake smile, looking at him.
“Oh, well, I guess I shouldn’t have expected that we’d be going out tonight without checking in with him to see if he was free. That’s my mistake, but thank you for telling me, Rhys. I’ll clean up here and I’ll get going,” you try, but he just shakes his head.
“Nonsense. Leave it, I’ll take care of it later. Let me take you home.”
“Honestly, Rhys, I’m ok. It’s just a misunderstanding on my part. And my home isn’t far from here at all, and the night is nice. You don’t need to winnow me,” you insisted, already done with rinsing out the glasses and putting them away. But your voice is shaking ever so slightly, sick to your stomach, and you know that Rhys notices.
He grimaces, debating with himself on what to do.
“If you’re sure,” he asks, raising an eyebrow, and you nod. “I’ll talk to him when he gets back.”
“No! No, you don’t have to do that. Seriously, Rhys, it’s not a big deal,” you beg, and finally, he relents.
He nods once before stuffing his hands back into his pockets.
“You’ll let me know if you change your mind, right,” he asks.
“Of course,” you promise, and he pops back out of the house, leaving you to truly process the situation.
He took Elain out instead. He left you, that same voice whispers, louder this time. Tears sting your eyes, and a half-sob rips out of your lungs, a hand flying up to your mouth to prevent any more from leaving. But you’re fruitless in your efforts to contain your emotions as tears start spilling over, splattering onto the table.
You leave the townhouse in a flurry, harshly wiping at the tears. The house goes dark behind you and the lock snicks shut, leaving you in the night’s chill. Then all at once, your face crumbles as your emotions make themselves known. You try to reason with yourself that there’s no reason to be upset because it was true when you told Rhys that you never did confirm with Azriel if he didn’t already have plans, you just assumed.
But you never have to check in, he has always been there.
“Fuck,” you whisper, walking down the cobbled road back to your townhouse, furiously wiping away the stray tears.
The walk back is quiet for the most part, and you’re thankful that you don’t run into anyone. You would never let yourself live it down if someone saw you in the state that you’re in. You almost make it back, but as you look up, your heart drops and your veins fill with ice as you recognize two figures walking your way. They are so enraptured with each other that they haven’t noticed you yet, so you quickly move over to the edge of the road, hopefully giving yourself enough space that they don’t see you.
You continue walking, arms crossed, and hair falling around you to shield your face, and you’ve just passed them when you spare a glance, making eye contact with him.
Fuck. You walk faster, eyes trained on the ground.
“Y/N?” he calls out, but you keep walking, quickening your pace.
“Y/N! Hey, wait,” he shouts, and this time catches up with you.
A calloused hand closes itself around your arm, effectively stopping you. You whip your head around to face him, and he looks at you in confusion. His form towers over you, and you’re so close you can smell the cologne wafting off of him. You watch as his face crumbles while he looks you over, and it almost seems like he’s panicking.
“Please, just allow me a moment to explain,” he begs, but you shake your head, eyes screwing shut to prevent him seeing the frustrated tears.
“It’s fine, Az, really. I just wish you would have told me instead of having Rhys be the one to tell me where you were,” you whisper, your eyes now trained on his chest, still avoiding his eyes.
If there’s one thing you hate, it’s confrontation. Even if all you want is for someone to feel what you’re feeling, and to confront them about what they’ve done, you can never bring yourself to do it, to hurt them like they had hurt you. So right now, you just want him to let you go so you can let yourself fall apart and piece yourself back together in the comfort of your home.
He is helpless as he sees you put up your walls, trying to keep your emotions in check by shutting them off entirely. It’s something that he’s never been on the receiving end of, and it crushes him to know that he’s who caused this.
A cold whisper ghosts over your wrist, and you look down to find a shadow caressing you anxiously, but it only makes you even more upset, the corners of your lips forcefully tugging down and eyes burning. Blood thunders in your ears, and you can feel your hands shaking, and no doubt Azriel can feel it too, which just makes you panic harder.
“Please, let me go I just want to go home.”
“Y/N,”
“No, Az. Just—”
“Azriel? Is everything ok?” A soft, ethereal voice breaks the moment, your eyes snapping over to the culprit.
You’re horrified as she walks over, the object of your ire making herself known. She looks absolutely breath taking dressed up, and you can’t help but understand for a moment why he would choose her over yourself. She’s absolutely perfect, and you’re… not.
She stops just behind him, placing a delicate pale hand on his back, looking up at him with worried eyes. His gaze snaps from you to her, and it makes you sick as you watch his face soften for her. You take the moment of weakness to rip your wrist away, giving yourself a step to breathe.
Azriel looks between the two of you, confliction painting his face as he tries to decide what to do, but you don’t give him the chance.
“I used to believe that you wouldn’t go as far as this, but I can’t say I’m surprised.”
He reels back like he was physically slapped, looking back at you in astonishment.
“What is that supposed to mean,” he begs, his eyes wide as his grip grows tighter around your wrist, but if you say what you want to say, you’re going to irreparably damage your relationship with him. Despite how you feel, that’s the last thing that you want.
You sigh, closing your eyes and shaking your head, just wanting the conversation to end. “It doesn’t matter. Enjoy your night, Azriel.”
You spin around and high tail it away from him. Although you just want to be left alone, it still makes your heart break even more when he doesn’t try to come after you.
The guilt eats at you again knowing that you ruined his and Elain’s night, but that selfish part of you is glad that you did and made him feel like shit.
Thankfully, you make it back home before you lose it, sobs racking your body as it all comes out. The pain of being pushed aside for someone else yet again comes to a head from tonight’s events. In a fury, you rip off the dress and heels, slinging them somewhere to be found later. You all but drop your jewelry onto the vanity, letting it clatter against the dark wood top. Tears still pour out of your eyes as you rifle through your liquor cabinet, pushing to the back to grab a bottle of dark and strong whiskey, but you slam the door shut as the thought of whiskey being Azriel’s favorite pushes itself to the forefront of your mind.
So instead, you crawl into bed for the night, staining your white sheets with your black-tinted tears.
-
Heavy thudding at your door drags you from sleep, making you groan as you have to peel open your eyes. The sun is blocked out by the thick curtains, confusing you even further as you try to figure out what time it could be. A headache makes itself known, pulsing behind your eyes causing you to groan as you sit up. The thudding continues, and you can’t help but snap.
“Give me a Mother-damned second! Fuck!” You slip from the sheets, stumbling across the room to get to your dresser. You pull a pair of pants and a t-shirt from a drawer, throwing on them on as you make your way to the door. You pray it’s not Azriel, but it’s more than likely it is. He’s the last one you want to see right now. Hopefully, he’s smart enough to stay away for a little while so you can cool off, allowing the whole situation to blow over.
You yank the door open, squinting at the bright sunlight, but they snap awake when you see Mor and Cassian in front of you instead, the latter standing against the door frame with his arms crossed.
“Uh…” You’re at a loss for words, guilty for the way that you had screamed at them.
“Get ready, we’re going to lunch, and you’re going to tell us why Azriel came home like his fucking puppy died,” Mor says, inviting herself in and grabbing you to lead you to your room. You look back at Cassian, eyes begging for help, but he just shrugs. Bastard.
The blonde immediately starts riffling through your wardrobe, picking through dresses and outfits, but you’re not sure what she has in mind. You allow yourself to flop back onto your bed, staring up at the ceiling. Cassian’s footsteps announce his entrance as he takes a seat on your love seat.
“What’s this?”
You pick your head up to see Mor holding your dress that you left in a ball on the floor. Your face flickers for a moment before you reign it back it, allowing the emotionless mask to take place.
“Nothing,” you whisper, letting your head fall back onto the bed.
It’s silent for a moment as Mor and Cassian look between themselves then back to you. It’s obvious something happened between you two last night, and the story won’t come easy from either of you.
The bed dips as both of your friends sit on the edge, one on either side as the flop down next to you. They remain quiet, but the tension and everything that you’ve been feeling makes your chin tremble, and you bite your lip to try and conceal it. But the tears sting at your eyes anyways, making the ceiling go blurry.
You sit up, digging your elbows into your knees, heaving a great sob. A small hand rests itself on your back, rubbing in circles as you allow yourself to finally fall apart.
“He fucking stood me up,” you choke out. “We always go out when he comes back from the camps. I got dressed up and everything, waited at the townhouse for a half hour just for Rhys to show up and tell me he wasn’t coming. Then I ran into him with Elain on the street on my walk home.”
They’re silent as they let you recount what happened last night, Mor’s face twisting as she watches one of her closest friends fall apart in front of her.
“I’m so sorry, Y/N,” Cassian whispers, but you just shake your head.
“It’s fine—”
“No, it’s not fucking fine. He’s either blind or just outright stupid to not see what he’s doing to you.” Cassian’s face is set in a scowl as he thinks about his friend’s behavior after Elain came into the picture.
He knows that his brother has a history of fawning over unavailable women, but for him to entertain one who already has a mate, one that lives with them and wants to engage with her nonetheless, makes him question if Azriel is really that ignorant to the entire situation. It’s not exactly a secret that you harbor feelings for the shadowsinger, but he has been oblivious to the way that you look at him, and Cassian can only imagine how you are with him when no one else is watching.
Mor’s heart breaks while she is helpless watching your face crumble and tears drip off your chin. There’s been a lot that has brought you down, but nothing like this. You keep a strong face around your friends, always trying to be a happy and fun person to be around, letting yourself be the shoulder to lean on when they need it.
Although Mor was the first obstacle between you and Azriel, she was always a good friend to you since you first joined the Inner Circle decades ago. Her warm and confident nature brought you out of your shell when she introduced you to everyone on that fateful night at Rita’s, which in turn brought you to Azriel.
You let your feelings ruin it all, the voice whispers, if you had just kept your feelings in check then you wouldn’t be in this position.
Then, with a deep breath, the mask comes back.
You wipe your face of the tear tracks, sniffling to try and clear your sinuses before looking at Mor and Cassian with a watery smile.
“So, what were you guys saying about lunch?”
A look passes between your friends before looking back at you.
“Well, we thought today would be a good day to try that new place on the Sidra for lunch,” Cassian answers, a slight smile on his face.
“I would love to. Will you two help me pick something to wear?”
“What else would we be here for, angel,” Mor giggles, standing up and taking you with her.
I’m so lucky to have them as friends.

I love Percy and Annabeth but they should not have been in Heroes of Olympus.
Because they overshadow everyone else.
People even say they skipped other characters povs just to read there's.
I love them but I think they shouldn't have been as prominently apart of the story.
Because yeah I love them but I've had 5 books of these guys, I'd really like to know the rest of the seven.
Hell Jason's birthday is the day they fall into Tartarus soo...tell me they aren't overshadowed..
Jason's our main character and he constantly gets pushed aside and is not written well and constantly compared to as being Percy's lesser version.
Which isn't fair.
And he's not given a chance to change that.
He's not allowed to exist outside of Percy because of course he isn't.
Percy's right there.
Also give them a break.
They just fought a war.
Personally would love if the lost hero started with a snap shot of the battle of Manhatten and zoomed out to the Roman part of the fight.
Jason leading the charge and just "Yeah.. That's me, your probably wondering how I got here."
And takes us all the way back to a mysterious woman giving Jason up and the wolves coming for him.
With us learning from kid Thalia demanding to know where Jason is that this Jason is her Jason.
Jason Grace.
We see the wolf house we watch Jason try to survive and absolutely break our hearts hearing someone so young think he's so alone and no one loves him.
Lupa becoming more motherly to him but that fear Jason has always remains that she will turn on him one day.
Jason wandering the streets to Camp Jupiter.
Jason's situation bring the reverse of Percy's.
Being out casted immediately and than put on a pedestal once he's claimed.
Jason immediately hating it.
Jason being pushed into this good soilder narrative but he doesn't fit it at all.
His upbringing has left him wild, less bothered with proper fighting techniques and more on survival.
He fights to kill.
He fights to live.
And no one else gets that.
Except one camper, Octavian, who's older than Jason abd the Augur.
Everyone after reading the Pjo series seeing Octavian...I got my eye on you Mr.
Who insults the elders and is the first to get Jason to laugh.
And encourages Jason to stand up for what he believes in.
Giving Jason the courage to deny his place in the 1st cohort and join the 5th.
This
Pisses everyone off.
Mostly the 1st.
Who are downright offended because you don't turn down the first cohort.
And Jason's like, but I just did.
The 5th have no idea what to make of Jason but in time they become friendly.
Dakota becoming a friend to him.
Jason knows this because he shares his kool aid with him sometimes.
He does get in trouble for squaring off with and scaring off some bullies of the upper cohorts.
Because Jason hates bullies and he recognises the kid, Frank being picked on.
Apparently they stole his stick and while Jason has no idea it's importance, it made Frank sad soo he goes after them.
Ends up on probatio and friends with Frank.
Who admires Jason's bravery and wishes he could be too.
So the rest of the leigion kinda miffed some 5th upstart is embarrassing them.
And so when the next quest is given its to him.
Quests are different here to Camp Half-blood.
Since they don't have a true oracle, specifics are never mentioned.
Leaving the leigion to give the prophecy to whoever they want.
And they want to knock Jason down a few pegs and so they send him.
Jason picking Frank and Dakota.
Neither of the two are hopeful because the day a 5th is sent on a quest is the day their funeral is held.
Not the case though and they do in fact succeed and do it well.
Frank even opening up about his stick and showing that he is as brave and courageous as he wants to be.
It's through that act of bravery Frank is claimed as a son of Mars.
And though he's not exactly sure he should be one, Jason and Dakota both tell him it suites him well.
They both even do the "all hail Frank Zhang, Son of Mars" speech.
Which makes him smile.
On the way back though they do find Reyna.
Jason gets the short straw and has to do the oh the Roman God's are real but she knows and that she's a daughter of Bellona.
And they all head back to camp together.
And while Reyna has her guard up she does genuinely seem to enjoy her company with the others.
She's also the only other person to truly understand how Jason fights and his instinct to survive.
Though she doesn't share why.
Octavian greets them, proud and Reyna is on probatio until they can see what cohort she fits into.
Though she remarks after seeing the egos of the 1st that the 5th might be better afterall.
Celebrations are held and Jason wonders if the quest is really over.
Also all or us wondering if Octavian was genuine about what he said to Jason to follow his dreams.
Or if he did it to take Jason's place in the 1st.
Can't tell me after Luke anyone of you guys wouldn't be mad suss of an older blonde boy befriending Jason.
Fool me once.
Shame on you.
Fool me twice...
Damn...
Also reading the series prior and than this means everyone agrees with Jason.
Like we saw Percy fight for his life over and over and are just like... Oh you bitches gonna have a rude awakening when you face real monsters 💅🏽.
I have no idea what the quest would be but I'd want them to all line up to the next big prophecy.
Instead of it coming out of nowhere.
Hazel does come around but later on because of the doors and with her so does Nico.
