HRT Pride Flag
Tumblr media
HRT (hormone replacement therapy) or hormonization: the medical process of blocking the body's naturally produced sex hormones and/or replacing or supplementing these with a different sex hormone or set of sex hormones.
This includes anyone regardless of sex, gender, pronoun, modality, modifier, alignment, expression, presentation, identity, etc. For example, this includes conformant people, such as those who are cis endosex aptobinary.

If T makes you gain weight and E and antidepressants do it too, and so does enjoying good food and not being hungry all the time, then perhaps maybe sometimes joy & weight gain come hand in hand and that's good

'Transfem DIY HRT' and 'Transmasc DIY HRT' are a pair of zines aimed at teaching transgender people how to safely self-administer DIY Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT).
Both zines are 100% free to download here from Little Mouse (who also made the zine). Print, share and distribute to those who need it!
The information contained in this zine is collated from, and openly available from, DIYHRT.info.

to everyone who has been talked out of testosterone HRT because it will make you "scary": no it will not. testosterone isn't "scary". masculinization isn't "scary". being masculine or a man isn't "scary". it's just another way to be a person. testosterone HRT is a good thing. it helps many people. if you want to take it, take it. don't let anyone else tell you not to because it "scares" them. it's not happening to them. their fears don't matter to you. it's happening to you. it's your choice.

my (cis) brother is using my old license to buy wine and it has the gender marker F on there. so whenever he gets asked he just says “oh i’m trans”. its literally worked every single time.

When I started my transition and began to come out to a few more folks than the tiny few that knew about me, there was something I kept saying as a part of my spiel…
“This is what I am, not who I am.”
I think I believed it fully at the time.
But then the interaction in the comic above occurred this past summer and completely changed my mind.  Sure, being trans is something that I just am, but it’s also something that can be part of who I am as well.
Seeing that kid completely light up the way they did sparked in me a desire that I really didn’t think I’d ever have.  Suddenly, that kid made me want to be visible.
Like the comic says, I wasn’t ready to be publicly out so I felt safer lying about myself at the time, but I truly hope that the next time I’m up there they have the opportunity to see me…
…a transgender person who’s included and having fun, just like we all should be.

for whoever needs to hear this:
starting HRT doesn't have to be a huge momentous all-or-nothing decision. you can just try it like you would an antidepressant you've been informed of the risks of.
there won't be any immediate irreversible changes overnight. you can always stop, change your dose, change your delivery system, decide it's not the right time. you can even microdose if you want to.
you don't have to tell anyone. you don't have to announce it if you don't want to.
stop waiting for a perfect time in your life because it won't come.
stop waiting to reach a mythical level of certainty that never comes to anyone, for anything.
you've been thinking about it long enough. if you have the opportunity, just give it a shot. you're worth the courage it takes to make a change in your life.

btw, as someone with hypermobile ehlers-danlos who self-injects HRT, i wanted to take the time to recommend liquid bandage to anyone else with hEDS and any other conditions that cause one to have easily damaged skin!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i use the Walmart brand but it is the same as this one here! they generally contain antiseptic as well, so it helps sterilize the injection site as well! i've included the back of the package to show the active ingredients, make sure you check just to be safe if you have allergies to certain medications. it peels off super easy, i never notice when it comes off, whereas with latex and fabric bandages, it would pull and tear my skin too much, to the point where it would cause bleeding. this does the trick with no pain or skin damage!
