is the last one to figure out that he has feelings for you. always would internally pass off his desire to keep you close as just fondness for a friend, but when the boys inquire why he goes through such lengths to make you smile, or basks in your compliments a little more than necessary, he starts to understand that he might not like you as just a “friend”. takes a bit of time to analyze how you two interact the next few times he sees you, and he quickly begins to note that yes, he loves to make you smile more than anyone else and yes, only your compliments, whether towards his hair color or singing voice at a group karaoke session, make him feel fuzzy inside. taeyang is not one to fear rejection, so his way of making you aware of his feelings is cool and collected. simply calls you and gives you instructions to “get dolled up by the evening and wear red.” because he’ll be picking you up and taking you out. when he drives up to your residence, he knocks on your door with flowers in hand, beaming at your beauty. theo is very traditional and a big gentlemen, evident when he opens your passenger door for you, or when he takes your hand to lead you up the flight of a fancy restaurant’s stairs. overall, i believe that he wouldn’t bask in his crush on you for too long. pining is not his ideal method of securing you as his, and he pursues you right when he realizes he sees you in a romantic light. his confidence is a strong quality of his, and that’s no different when it comes to you.

as a perfectionist that values work to a sometimes unhealthy extent, jiung wasn’t fully aware of his blossoming love for you at first. it definitely takes him a little bit of time to accept that his feelings towards you aren’t merely platonic, and as a result of that he might pull away for a bit before ultimately opting to get closer to you. like theo, ji doesn’t really care to pine so when he does make the decision that he wants a chance at a future with you by his side, he makes his feelings very obvious. it starts with physical touch, which you yourself have witnessed jiung gagging at in the past with anyone else, so you already start suspecting that he might view you in a different light than his other friends. starts taking you out on study dates, accompanying you to cat cafes, tying your undone shoelaces for you.. he’s practically your boyfriend before the pair of you even discuss your feelings for each other. isn’t a big gift giver but will pay for your food every time you’re together, not taking “no” from you as an answer. loves when he catches you staring at him from time to time, and blushes at the thought of you liking him back as much as he likes you. i see jiung confessing to you in a pretty nonchalant way, as he’s comfortable enough in his feelings to relay them to you with a certain sweetness that makes your heart warm. in his mind he’s quite nervous, but when you excitedly accept his confession he’s all smiles, grabbing your hand and giving you a quick peck on the cheek. jiung is your prince charming, and the shift between your mutual feelings for each other and officially becoming a couple is a comfortable process, as if it was always meant to be, as if the pair of you were always one, even from the beginning.

i see intak as the type of boy to wear his heart on his sleeve, and his security in accepting and understanding his own emotions allows him to be your knight in shining armor whenever you need him to be. he himself knows how comfort can be given in the form of company when life gets difficult, which is precisely the way he shows you his unwavering affection. he doesn’t fully know for sure if he has platonic or romantic feelings for you in the beginning, but he begins to realize that it’s the latter when he finds himself answering a panicked call from you at very late hours of the night, to which he runs to grab his keys and fling on his jacket at he makes his way to your location to comfort you as best as he can. from that night on, he dedicates himself fully to making you feel safe and loved, even if he’s unsure if you reciprocate his feelings. his love language is definitely quality time, and he often ends up inviting you to local concerts, shopping dates, and the movies. wants you to know that he’ll always be there for you, and that he enjoys spending his free time in your presence more than anyone else’s. inflicts corny cliches onto you, like fake yawning and stretching his arm to wrap around your frame, (and his sneaky glance in your direction to make sure he hasn’t made you uncomfortable is not a gesture that goes unnoticed). is your number one hype man, shoulder to cry on, and pillow for when you accidentally fall asleep leaning against his warmth. when he finally knows that you do reciprocate, his confidence shoots up to the roof. one night when you two are watching a movie together at your house, intak turns to face you, tucks a stray hair behind your ear and asks, “can i kiss you?”, waiting for your approval before locking his chapped lips with yours. when you both part from the kiss he can’t stop smiling and going in for more kisses, and eventually you both fall asleep cuddling on the couch. when you wake up he sits you down to make sure he interpreted your eagerness correctly, that you really do want to be his. is all giggles when you call yourself his “girlfriend” for the first time. he is soooo puppy coded ^_^

not being the most confident in the group, he’s quite hesitant to express his feelings for you. hides his crush on you from everyone, because he fears it could come between your close friendship. i think shota is the type to know right away if he has romantic feelings for someone, as he’s a great judge of character and knows who he can be comfortable around with a singular interaction. even though he may not want to verbalize his feelings to anyone, especially you, that doesn’t mean that soul doesn’t treat you different. on the contrary, he prioritizes your happiness more than his own, like when he brought you dozens of his favorite snacks from his latest trip to japan, or when he demotes jongseob as his gaming buddy so that he can teach you one on one how to play his usual games. although he might believe he’s not very obvious, all of his friends know that he loves you. after a long time of crushing on you, he starts to open up to you more, which surprises him, especially knowing that he likes to keep his emotions to himself. realizes at a certain point that he can’t continue on like this, that he can’t bare to keep you as just a companion, that he craves more. seeks out his friends’ advice on the matter for the first time, and they all reassure him that there is no way that you don’t feel the same, which is unconvincing to him. despite his doubts, he does eventually muster up enough courage to tell you how he feels, expecting you to kindly reject him and distance yourself afterwards, but to his surprise, you just reply with a kiss on his cheek, and the words, “i like you too”. from that point on, he becomes a more confident version of himself around you, constantly cracking jokes and keeping you attached to him at all times. every part of him that wanted to hide from you disappears once you put a label on your relationship, and he’s grateful that he didn’t let his insecurities get in the way of your shared love for each other.

i’m a firm believer that seob would fall in love at first sight. his mind is older than his body, and he’s regarded as one of, if not the most mature of his group, despite being the youngest. jongseob knows what he likes, is in touch with his emotions, and most importantly, knows that he loves you more than life itself. doesn’t shy away from pursuing you, makes it his goal in life to receive your unwavering affection!! definitely makes use of his photography hobby by using you as the subject in majority of his photos, always sends you printed copies with little notes written on the back of them, like the date they were taken on, what he was thinking when he photographed them, etc..! asks his older members for advice, and constantly tries to meddle information out of them that could be useful to his mission of asking you out.. he’s attentive just like keeho, and gives you little gifts that incorporate things like your favorite characters, perfume scents, colors, and songs. 100% writes lyrics about you, and shyly shows them to you when you come over one day, passing them off as “general” feelings but when he sees how excited you get to be reading something he wrote himself, your reaction is enough for him to finally ask you out on a proper date. when you leave in the evening, he’s giddy for the rest of the night, and writes down different date ideas just so that he can plan everything perfectly to fit your tastes. he also is on his phone all the time, always preoccupied with texting you, whether it be a simple “good morning :]” or a cute video he saw on instagram. jongseob’s crush on you is deeper than he may let off at first, but he knows that it’s something that consumes his every thought and motivates him in every aspect of his life. once you two actually start dating, he continues to take pictures of you, and makes a scrapbook journal for the pair of you to look at in the future!! just the sweetest boy who values your interests and happiness over everything else!!!

You and Papa Terzo had been fooling around for quite some time, a few months to be exact.

It all began during one of his sermons, you were sitting in the front row, right in Terzo's line of sight. He noticed you gazing lustfully at him. You see, Terzo had a knack for being able to read people, especially through their eyes. He could tell the intention behind that look you gave him by simply studying your eyes for a few seconds.

In return, he shot you the same stare, which caught you off guard. The entire rest of that sermon was spent with you getting more and more desperate, while you and Terzo practically eye-fucked each other.

An hour after all of that began, the sermon ended, and the entirety of the congregation filed out of the main hall and into the dining hall. You however, chose to stick around a few extra minutes. This proved to be a great decision, as Terzo did the exact same. As soon as the two of you were given some space, he was able to whisk you away to the privacy of his quarters. That was the first time of many when you two did anything.

From the start, your relationship had been strictly sexual and platonic. No romance or exclusivity involved. One would message the other when in need of some sexual favors, and the other would show up at the other's room a few minutes later. You two would do it, and then part ways once again.

Of course, Terzo had others, he was Papa Emeritus of course. You were not the only one he lusted after, and you knew this. You played along with his act, you acted okay with it, and you hid how you felt internally. You would rather have him like this than not have him at all. 

You tried to give the impression to him that you had others as well. You didn't want to look too "needy". In reality, nobody else really interested you in that manner like Terzo did. The only person who you wanted to touch you was him. You didn't care to invite any other siblings or ghouls into your bed. Your body would only enjoy the touch of Terzo.

He knew how to please you, he could play your body like a game of chess, but most importantly, he was the one you fancied. He was your type.

Each time the two of you finished doing it, after you parted ways, you wondered what it would be like if he stayed just a bit longer. If he stayed to coax you to sleep, run his fingers through your hair, and whisper sweet nothings into your ear. You began to crave that, but still, that never happened.

At first, you brushed your feelings to the side. You ignored your heart gnawing at you. After all, there wasn't much you could do or say. You felt like Terzo was the one calling the shots, and you were just another sibling of sin. 

But after a few months of this, it was getting too intense. Every single time the two of you did things, you held back so hard from letting an "I love you" slip out of your mouth. Every single time, you could barely save yourself from asking "could you stay a little while longer?" as Terzo was putting his shoes on to leave. 

You began to realize what you felt would eventually slip out. It got harder and harder to hide it each time. It was only a matter of time before the confession left your lips.

You decided to put together a plan, a plan to ask him out on a date. You decided you would rather risk losing the sexual encounters, instead of just continuing on like this. You couldn't do it anymore.

Your plan was fairly simple, but also quite cute. You would go to a flower shop, buy a bouquet of purple lilac flowers, and show up at his office to ask. You knew Terzo would love those flowers, as he usually kept a vase of them on his desk. You were only about 50% sure of this actually working in your favor, but you chose to go along with it anyways.

The next morning, you went to your usual services, did your daily chores, and then when you finally had a few hours of free time, you took the bus down to the flower shop.

Something that you thought was odd however, was Terzo's absence during the daily sermon. Instead, it was his younger brother, Cardinal Copia, who took over. It made you a bit anxious, but you chose to shrug it off as him just being busy with something.

You bought the flowers, and got back on the bus with a sense of hopefulness. Maybe this would work out, you prayed to Satan that it would. Still, you had to be realistic, and were also mentally preparing yourself for the worst to happen.

You arrived back at the Ministry, and rushed upstairs to your room to do a few things first. You had to be quick, as dinner time is soon, and Terzo would not be in his office during that time. You made it to your room, applied a bit of makeup, sprayed on some of your best perfume, fixed your habit a little bit, and then you were ready to go.

You took a deep breath, clutched the flowers in your hands, and started walking down the corridor to Terzo's office. Quickly, of course.

You had turned the final corner to his office, when you suddenly collided with something. You panicked and reached down to pick up the flowers, before looking up and realizing who you just bumped into. It was Terzo.

He too was picking up a bouquet of flowers off of the floor, black dahlias, and looked a little flustered.

"O-oh hi Terzo. Im so sorry I wasn't looking where I was going"

You stared at him, wide-eyed, feeling the blush began to creep onto your cheeks. This is not how you wanted this to go, and why did he have flowers too?

"Ah tesoro, it is okay. Where are you off to in such a hurry?" Terzo said, seemingly equally as flustered.

"Oh uh..." you searched your brain for some sort of excuse, any kind of excuse, but you couldn't think of any. What other excuse would there be to you rushing in the direction of his office holding his favorite flowers? "I was coming to see you."

You bit the inside of your cheek as you waited for him to respond. He looked at you, then the flowers, then back at you again.

"Coming to see me? With that beautiful bouquet?"

You nodded and looked away with embarrassment.

"Well uh, actually tesoro, I was headed to do the same."

You looked back up at him and studied his face. He had a small smile, and you could see a little blush under his paints, and wait a minute... he was holding black dahlias. Your favorite flowers.

"W-wait... you were coming to give me those?" You questioned as you pointed to the bouquet.

He nodded "Sí, and you were coming to give me those?" he questioned while pointing to the flowers you held.

You nodded. "I actually got these for a reason you know..." you said as you trailed off

"What reason is that, cara mia?"

"I wanted to ask you on a date."

Terzo smiled warmly and stepped a little closer. "I was coming to do the exact same thing."

You looked at him in bewilderment. "You were??"

"Sí, that is why I wasn't at the sermon this morning. I was out buying these" He said in reference to the flowers

You smiled a wide smile as he handed you the beautiful arrangement of flowers. You took it from him, and handed him the purple lilac's in return.

"How did you know black dahlia's are my favorite?"

"I took a guess, I saw them in your room. How did you know I like purple lilacs?"

"I also saw them in your room" You said with a giggle

"Ah well, we are both quite observant aren't we?"

You nodded with a smile and a small "mhm"

"Well... what do you say to that date tesoro? You free this Friday night?"

You perked up and nodded enthusiastically "Yes, I am free"

"Perfetta. I will pick you up from your room at 6 p.m."

"I will be ready"

Terzo smiles at you "I can't wait"

The two of you share a kiss and part ways. As soon as you get back to your room, you place the gorgeous bouquet in a vase full of water. Terzo does the same in his office. You can't believe that just happened, but you are overjoyed to say the least. 

He feels the same as you do.

Some thoughts on Izzy and why I’m sad people hate him so much without any consideration to his character history and the theme of the show.

Like don’t get me wrong, I understand the Izzy we have seen so far is…rough to say the least.

But here's the thing. We know that in season 2 we're going to get a lot of good character development from him, and I'm very excited about this.

“Izzy goes on a remarkable journey this season” says O'Neill. "He understands what love is and whom he's in love with."

“it's been quite demanding to be playing a man enraged by unrequited love, who's basically a hopeless romantic,"

Izzy is clearly struggling with some internalized issues. Internalized homophobia probably being one of them.

He's struggling with the fact he's devoted everything he has every day to Blackbeard. He doesn't understand why Ed is suddenly this open and emotionally available person for Stede, he doesn't know why stede gets that side of Ed and he never has.

Even Ivan points it out when he says “This is the most open and available I've ever seen him"

Im not saying Izzy's actions so far in the show are to be ignored or excused by any means but I think Izzy is dealing with emotions he was never taught how to deal with, how to recognize or even made to feel like he was allowed to feel them. I think we can kind of assume Izzy was raised to be a"man's man" and not to be "soft”

Even David Jenkins has said himself “a lot of what were taught about being a man is wrong"

What we're going to be seeing in season 2 is Izzy realizing this. Just as we've seen Ed and Stede processing through something similar in season 1 though maybe not as extreme. They were both raised by shit fathers who made it a point to tell them that being soft or gentle is a bad thing. That enjoying the gentler things in life is Un masculine. Like Stede's love for picking flowers, Or Ed's love for fine fabrics.

This is clearly something that real people struggle with in the real world everyday. What it means to be a Man, to be masculine.

I guess all in all what I'm trying to say is that yeah Izzy has been a shitty person for the most part so far, but he's dealing with a lot and trying to process through it. Like a lot of real people do on a day to day basis.

This show is about breaking the mold. It's about grabbing toxic masculinity and ripping it apart and throwing it in the trash.

It's sad to me so many people are quick to just toss Izzy aside like a one dimensional character who doesn't have his own trauma and pain. I think we’ve all made mistakes in life, things we wish we had known better than to do or say but just didn’t know any better of at the time. We should all be allowed to grow and learn and become better versions of ourselves.

Anyways, Thanks for coming to my izzy hands character development Ted Talk. I can’t say when I first watched the show that I thought I’d ever be an izzy fan but the more I dig into his character and the more I see fandom interpretations of him the more he grows on me.

I thought I’d put together a somewhat coherent list of my headcanons for Lies of P as well as few others I’ve seen that go in line with what I’ve been thinking.

When P becomes human

His body doesn’t exactly change to one of flesh and blood. He still has a puppet body, for the most part. But that doesn’t make him any less human.

There are some physical changes, however, like how his hair changes and his shoulders get broader. I’d imagine he’d also develop some other changes internally that would enable him to do things he couldn’t do before. But again, still kinda more on the mechanical side than fleshy.

He would also feel things like pain and even hunger to an extent because of some of these changes. He’d also feel fatigue.

He’d feel pain because his ergo would like remember how certain things are supposed to hurt. Like getting smacked by a shovel would not be pleasant. And the hunger part is because he’s not entirely powered by ergo anymore and so he’ll eat to regain some energy. (Don’t ask me how, I haven’t figured that out yet. Just made sense at the time I thought of it)

Him breathing still isn’t a necessity, but it’s more like a “muscle memory”. Similarly to how his ergo can remember pain, it remembers other subtle things about being human. Things that one wouldn’t actively think about when doing, like breathing and even blinking.

How P feels being human/first time feelings

The first time he feels pain, he’d be shocked at first. He’d just think “What was that?? I did not like that.” And then he’d come to understand it pretty quickly and whenever he gets really hurt or something, he’d almost wish he still couldn’t feel pain. But that’s more of just him being a little dramatic lol

When he feels hunger for the first time, he’s completely unaware of what this feeling in his stomach is and it sort of has him a bit scared. That is, until he tells someone about it and they kinda laugh a little and explain it to him while giving him something to eat.

The first time eating something is so weird to him. Like he kinda has the muscle memory of it so it’s not like he’s being taught how to eat, but that doesn’t mean the overall sensation isn't weird and maybe a bit overwhelming at first. He gets used to it eventually and comes to enjoy trying new foods when he has the chance.

The first time he feels genuinely tired, he’s not too sure what’s happening. He’s felt sort of drained before, but this is a new level. Eventually he just passes out from exhaustion and he’s just on the floor until someone finds him. After that he’s more aware of what it is and is more careful about not passing out on the floor again. But he’ll still fall asleep in various places like in chairs or at a desk/table

Not to mention dreams. P would be confused as fuck about dreams. But he wouldn’t think much of them afterward. However, his first nightmare? Poor guy would be fucking shook.

(This one for the thirsty people including myself lmao) With P experiencing more human emotions, it would make sense he’d feel a romantic attraction to someone at some point. But I’d imagine he’d also experience sexual attraction. However, still having the body of a puppet, he’s missing a certain part to his anatomy to make some of these dirty desires possible. Unless he convinces someone to help him change that.

Sunshine By My Side - a few answers

I've gotten quite a few questions about Sunshine By My Side. People want to know what it's about, what I think of it, whether I recommend it, etc. so here's some info related to the questions I've been getting. I apologize for not answering your asks individually.

About the Series

Sunshine By My Side is currently available on iQIYI with English subtitles. The first several episodes are available for free at 720p, while VIP subscribers are able to access more episodes earlier, at 1080p.

It hasn't yet appeared on WeTV international.

While there is a romantic storyline, this series is considered a 'life drama', not an idol romance like Oath of Love. It covers major life and workplace issues in a serious way and is intended to appeal to a much broader audience from a wider age range.

Contrary to popular belief, it isn't based on an original screenplay. It is an adaptation of a 2017 Taiwanese drama called My Dear Boy (this is confirmed in the credits of Sunshine By My Side).

Of course, the two stories will not be identical. There will have been some changes made to adapt it to the approach this new series wants to take.

Jian Bing (Bai Baihe), a well-known advertising director, and Sheng Yang (Xiao Zhan), a newcomer in the industry, randomly crossed paths inside a restaurant one day. One has just ended a marriage, while the other was waiting for a love to finally fall apart. These two strangers eventually developed a bond and began embarking on a journey of sublime growth and budding romance. With the company of Sheng Yang, Jian Bing was able to gain her confidence back both in life and in love whereas Sheng Yang grew up from a young and carefree youth to one with a keen edge under the guidance and encouragement of Jian Bing. The two healed each other, grew up together, and overtime learned to love one another.

However, challenges in life are inevitable. Faced with their differences both in their identities and experiences, objections towards their relationship within their families, and rumors in the workplace escalating, Jian Bing and Sheng Yang finally decided to let their future play out through the course of time. Three years passed, allowing them to grow and change for the better. A lot of their firsts were spent with each other, and this trust they held and the experiences they shared back then went around and finally found them, making them gravitate towards each other again.

My Thoughts

As for whether I recommend it or not, I haven't actually seen any of it yet so I can't give you an informed recommendation. However, I have been really looking forward to this series because the story looks good, the female lead is a well known and well respected actor with real talent, and the script writers and director are also well respected.

I have a feeling this is going to be a good series. The feedback I've heard so far from people who are watching it has been solidly positive. So yes, I would recommend it based on all of that.

And ultimately I think it's worthwhile to watch as many projects of theirs as we can - even the bad ones *coughoathoflovecough* - because even when a story totally sucks and is poorly told, we still get to see how they approach certain roles, we learn more about their experiences and growth as actors, and we can talk about their projects from a well-informed perspective.

Nothing annoys me more than when fans shit-talk shows they haven't even seen. If you haven't seen it, you haven't yet earned that privilege, my friend. 😅

Anyway, I hope you all get a chance to see it, and that you enjoy it. I will be watching it eventually, when I have time. I will also be writing a review of it once I'm finished.

A/N: Hi!! Thank you so much for requesting! Sorry it took so long, but I hope you enjoy it! I’m writing this while I’m sick so if it doesn’t make sense it’s because my head is killing me 😭 also, HAVE A GOOD DAY/NIGHT AS WELL!!!!

“Get me (hero name),” Hawks commanded as he walked through his agency. “I need only the best for this case and I want her on it.”

“(hero name) is currently on Fatgum’s case,” Tokoyami replied, running to catch up with the pro. “She’s unavailable for the time being.” They two men entered Hawks’ office. They were alone now.

“Where has she been?” Hawks asked, taking a seat at his desk. “I only see her about twice a week now.”

Tokoyami shrugged, taking a seat across from him. “I’m not sure.” He sighed. “I think it may be easier on her schedule right now. And Fatgum’s agency is a lot less stressful.”

“She hasn’t even been coming to the game nights the interns put on here.” Keigo kicked his feet up onto his desk. “She used to always come to those.”

Days passed without a word from you. Any communication between you and Hawks was through Tokoyami. When Hawks would try to text or call you, you’d never answer. You scheduled your patrols around his and avoided the office whenever he was there. To be honest, this kind of hurt Hawks’ feelings. He enjoyed having you around. You were making to be a strong pro-hero and you fought well beside him. So why were you avoiding him?

Keigo was always so nice to you. Maybe that was why you were avoiding him. Maybe he was coming off as flirtatious, or maybe he was scaring you. Hawks really didn’t have a clue.

“Come onnn, Y/N!!” Mina droned late one night, sprawled out across your bed beside you. She rolled onto her side to look at you with a wide smile. “Why aren’t you working for Hawks much anymore? Tell meee!”

You giggled, then sighed, looking at Mina out of the corner of your eye. “You can’t tell anyone I told you this.”

Mina pushed herself up to rest on her elbows. “I swear!”

You rubbed the back of your neck nervously. “I…” you started. “I kinda have a crush on Hawks.” Mina squealed loudly and you hit her with one of your many pillows as a way to make her be quiet.

“Doesn’t that mean you should be around him more?” she giggled. “It doesn’t make sense that you’re avoiding him.”

“Because it’s unprofessional,” you confessed. “We’re third years and he’s one of my mentors.” You cleared your throat. “Hopefully staying away from him for a while will diminish whatever feelings I have for him.”

And you were right. After working for Fatgum for two weeks and taking a break from Hawks and his agency, your crush was pretty much nonexistent. You were able to hang out with him and Tokoyami with zero romantic feelings for the hero. One night, while it was just the two of you on patrol, Keigo slung an arm around your shoulders and pulled you into his side.

“I missed you birdie,” he said with a smile.

“I missed you too, Hawks.” He didn’t need to know about yours and Mina’s secret :)

Hidden Agenda Ep 4 Stray Thoughts

Last week, Joke and Zo went on practice dates for Nita before Joke totally botched a not-date with Nita. Zo is recognizing that he might be developing feelings for Joke after a pinky touch moment. Joke is having his own panic that me maybe overstepped.

Now this is what I'm talking about! Zo is in his head and making Pok's decision not to tell him about Jeng about him and not about Pok. Now it's bleeding over into Zo feeling unlikeable.

Oooh, and now we're back to the themes about limiting the perspectives we allow to influence our sense of worth.

There are alot of different versions of this. It was a novel. It's under a couple of different names on a couple of different websites, and it's almost one hundred and fifty chapters long. The yandere moments are few and far between, but if you enjoy slow burn this is a good choice.

Chloe Battenburg is kind of a loser. She's got intense anxiety. A shit family too, but a fairly good family name. She married a Duke named Alphonse, and there's no love between them. None. Even the maids don't respect her, because well...she's a disrespectful weirdo. I don't mean to say that she deserved to be abused, but Chloe was madly in love with the prince of her nation. It was embarrassing for the Duke, and his servants grew to dislike her because she was immature and she adored someone that wasn't her husband publicly.

Loudly.

Cringe.

I'm sorry but this is a reincarnation story. It does add drama in this case. Alot of drama. I feel like I can heartily recommend this to otome isekai fans because it's slow. New Chloe actually has to learn shit. She has to earn her husband's respect before he falls for her.

Ew cringe wife basically.

Alphonse is very likeable. You understand why he disliked Chloe. He didn't think his wife was ugly or stupid or annoying. He was just disappointed and he didn't want to jump through hoops to earn her affection. Especially since old Chloe was afraid of him. It made their relationship awkward. Alphonse isn't a very romantic guy at heart, so he just gave up. When his wife starts asking for tea and baking ingredients he is delighted...after he realizes it is not a phase. He reaches out to her. He is genuinely interested in her hobbies, and when her love becomes her business she has his full support. The Duke has his hands in alot of businesses, and having a capable wife makes him feel proud.

However, that takes time. First, new Chloe learns how to brew tea in a Fantasy world. It's hard. It takes a ton of work and skill.

New Chloe is a pretty damned ideal Duchess...but uh...old Chloe did a shit ton of damage. She has zero friends. Zero fashionable clothes. A bad reputation. Her husband warms up to her pretty ok, but uh... remember the prince thing? That's actually a big deal. It does not get swept under the rug. Alphonse wants to have faith in new Chloe, but she was completely obsessed with following the prince around. That makes him insecure and jealous and even a little bitter towards his wife. It's nice. It feels human. In the beginning Alphonse doesn't want her to ever meet him again, but that's unrealistic. He's a prince. Chloe is a Duchess.

The drama will come.

Alphonse is not an immature brat. He does not explode with rage at the slightest provocation. I thought he was more of a possessive lover than a yandere, but he is quite extreme. To be clear. In the beginning he has zero love for Chloe. When it happens and his wife is just perfect and popular and a star baker and businesswoman he becomes very devoted. He develops a cute side that is a bit suspicious. He begins to get jealous of other men in general.

He's so lucky.

His wife turned over a new leaf.

Everyone is envious of him.

That means other men like Chloe.

He really doesn't know how to handle her growing popularity for a long time.

When he admits that he's in love with his wife it's always so emotional. This is a slightly less...sparkly noble setting. There's alot of miserable marriages and cheating etc. Alphonse swears to never take a mistress. He becomes more and more devoted. When Chloe does like... anything he lavishes her with praise...in his head...the guy has trouble expressing himself sometimes. Literally Chloe gives him a flower and he's internally like "My Darling wife, I never thought I would have this kind of love an affection. Any gift from you is a treasure" etc. It's...intense. Chloe doesn't fall in love with him for a REALLY long time, because of the whole silently devoted and jealous thing, but she eventually likes him too.

Chloe studies hard on her own and they eventually start going to real balls. It's huge gossip because the Duke is known as an unromantic workaholic...and Chloe has to deal with her bad reputation wherever she goes. Alphonse has to defend her honor multiple times.

(Sometimes the art is a little meh. This panel is a good example. Long faces. Twig waist. Proportional issues but overall it's nice looking.)

Alphonse grows into his puppy side. When their feelings are mutual things escalate. Like...in bed. Alphonse suddenly has a huge sexual appetite, after he fully confirms that she loves him too. Multiple times. He says some classic yandere stuff about wanting to mark her. Everything is consensual here by the way.

Here we goooo. This is Prince Arthur. Alphonse hates Prince Arthur. Alphonse used to have no problem with Prince Arthur. Apparently Chloe almost did marry Prince Arthur before. Alphonse is freakishly jealous of Prince Arthur in a really unhealthy way. He threatens the prince multiple times.

Arthur is an average douche character. He's not evil. He develops a crush on Chloe after she becomes popular and pretty. Like everyone else he knows about her old flame for him. He keeps trying to bring it up, which is super awkward for new Chloe. Alphonse continues to lose his shit until Chloe has to step in and say her husband is better.

So awkward, but again there's this slow atmosphere. A nice, slow atmosphere. Half of the chapters are dedicated to Chloe growing her business. Sometimes Alphonse is just her clingy accessory, and that's cool! Chloe is the cool one after she earns her money. Alphonse is obviously also handsome and well known, but Chloe eventually becomes the face of the Battenburg family. It's a nice dynamic. Alphonse occasionally begs for love in really ardent, sometimes desperate, ways because he thought he was doomed to a loveless duty marriage. Chloe saved him from a live of monotany.

He's obsessed but this is like the most healthy obsession on my list.

Recommended for yandere newbies.

Current Favorites

Cherry Magic (Thai) Sukiyanen Kedo Do Yaro ka (Although I Love You and You) Cooking Crush

Bundling these three together because I'm loving a lot of the same things: grownups! Direct communication! Being nice to the person you like and showing that you care about them! Cherry Magic delivered the most romantic sequence in the world to me this week with Karan observing and quietly meeting a bunch of Achi's trivial daily needs, and then Achi realizing this and immediately rushing to undo the hurt he'd carelessly caused. Cooking Crush is also doing a wonderful job of queuing up a bunch of potential problems and then having the lovers resolve them with honesty rather than letting them escalate. And SukiDoya looks to be setting up a beautiful slow burn between two men who have drastically different communication styles, but are drawn together and appreciate each other.

Dead Friend Forever

On the other end of the spectrum, we have the slasher drama with a bunch of students trapped in the woods watching their pasts catch up with them. So far this is delivering exactly what it promised: a solidly-executed suspense thriller with a hefty dose of gay drama. I'm enjoying it immensely.

I Love You, But...

The Sign

Look. It's a mess. As soon as I saw the second trailer and realized we were doing big mythology as well as crime drama I knew this show was biting off more than it could chew, and I knew I'd be seated for the duration. Billy and Babe are doing a fantastic job anchoring this wild hodgepodge of a drama, and I'm having a great time with it.

Last Twilight

This one was in the top bracket for me up until last week. As I've said before, my feelings about it are really going to hinge on how they move forward from the big episode-11 fight and breakup. We shall see.

Intern in my Heart

Not a BL, but with what looks to be a developing BL side plot. I'm enjoying this one, but three episodes in I'm not deeply invested enough to put it into the top bracket. Favorites are the female lead, played by Cris who I loved in Mama Gogo, and the gay bestie, played by Toptap. Hi Toptap! Missed you!

Doing Just Enough

First let me say that I will cheerfully drop shows that I'm really not feeling, so even this bottom bracket is all shows that I like. I just don't look forward to them in the same way I do the above shows, and they might be a few wrong moves away from getting dropped.

7 Days Before Valentine

Episode 9 was my favorite one since the beginning... I liked getting more hints of Q's backstory, and I thought the final rooftop scene was a good culmination of what the show's been building toward. It's been draggy at times, but I am interested to see where we'll go from here.

Playboyy

I'm a sexuality educator and sex nerd, so a show like this is going to have my eyes no matter how messy and chaotic it gets. I've been watching it mostly with that lens: none of the stories or characters are particularly compelling to me, but I'm enjoying seeing what it wants to say about sex each week.

Sahara Sensei to Toki-kun (Mr Sahara & Toki-kun)

I'm kinda sticking this one out for morbid curiosity, and because Toki is perfect and deserves the best. Sahara is a character I could really love in a different drama, but the romance here isn't working for me. I'm not even opposed to a (fictional!) teacher-student romance, and if this show was setting up their relationship as problematic but compelling I might be here for it. Instead it seems to be stalwartly ignoring that there might be anything weird or inappropriate, and it's both jarring and dull.

took a while to actually explain that ace and aro are two separate identities and still not that well. it makes aro seem like a subset of ace which is entirely false. its cool there was an aroallo character involved but still

the book title 'loveless' is a real term and identity and the entirety of the book kinda shits on it by enforcing the ideal that its still okay to be aspec cause platonic love can be experienced and any type of love is required or at least better than "not feeling anything and being alone forever"

it was weird for her friends to forgive her over gestures that had nothing to do with apologizing before georgia actually apologized and explained but that may just be more of a personal thing that i didnt like. likewise the story being about platonic love it kinda sucks her deepest connection is with her roommate and not the people shes known for years and wronged

kinda sex negative. i mean rooney says she doesnt dislike casual sex but then that whole thing becomes the reason she hates herself and a reason to cope with being "unloveable" and its kinda lame. you can tell that story without making it seem like casual sex is just a means of devaluing yourself. and you can be sex repulsed and still not do that. it just feels unfair to aroallo people especially who are told they are monsters for enjoying and only wanting casual sex when this book is supposed to be about aromanticism too

basically particular identities' stories shouldnt come at the expense of others and other ways of life. its great and important to write different experiences because no one is gonna relate to them all but no one has to replace romantic love with ANY type of love to feel good about themselves and be human. loveless and aplatonic people shouldnt have to read something that uses rhetoric against their identities within a book about aspec people

things i like about loveless

i didnt relate to it personally but the experiences felt very genuine. internalized aphobia, being hounded by aphobic comments, finding it hard to portray love even in a fictional or artistic sense, etc.

I appreciate the references to race and intersectionality that come with being queer even if they were minimal. so few times is it actually acknowledged that there is privilege when it comes to being understood, coming out, being accepted, etc. the references to that were nice to see because too often intersectionality being brought up is brushed off and blatantly ignored or people pretend like they understand

it was written by someone who is aroace even if there are some things that can be less isolating within the aspec community with the language being used. someone being open about their identities and how they choose to define them in the mainstream world is how we get more peoples voices in there

it has helped people discover their own identity though id still recommend further research on the actual identities being named and ones not named. these stories are the first introduction of aspec identities in mainstream and that hopefully means itll start to expand to other identities within that community that have not yet had representation

this should be the start of developing more rep. the first takes are not gonna represent everyone and its a good thing it exists to tell a few peoples story. but that doesnt mean it should be free from any criticism because thats how we make them continuously better. i hope to see an aroallo character soon. i want the term loveless to be properly used in media and expressed for what it is. i want to stop pretending like ace is the umbrella term for all aspec identities. i want amatonormativity explained as the sociological term it is that harms all life not just aromantic and polyamorous people. i want a polyam aspec character and polyam characters in general. i want disabled and ethnic aspec characters where the intersectionality is just as important to the narrative. i want a whole lot more and to stop prentending like any of that should be unreasonable

Why do you enjoy reading Harmony fanfic?

”There is so much I could say here. I like that Harry and Hermione, beyond being good friends, are a team. They complement each other's strengths and weaknesses. I like that their friendship gradually grows and deepens over the books, though there is an implicit and very profound trust and affection between them even in the first book. I like that they try to be their best for each other, even if they sometimes fail at it. They take risks they normally may not take because they are inspired by the other.

I like the mutual admiration and understanding. Harry was isolated as a child, but Hermione gives him affection more than any other character. Hermione may sometimes be a know-it-all and hangs out in the library, but Harry will go there with her and looks up to her. He appreciates her intellect, thinks of her as the "best" in his year, and she seems to inspire him to try harder with his schoolwork. Meanwhile, Hermione doesn't understand or appreciate a lot about Quidditch, but she never misses Harry's games (even when they're not communicating well in PoA) and seems completely enthralled and enthusiastic while cheering him on.

They're not just best friends. I rarely use this word, but I do think if any relationship deserves the term soulmates, it's Harry and Hermione, particularly as they grow closer later in the books. By DH, they are fiercely protective of each other and would easily die for each other. They are an amazing duo in battle together.

And all of these things are true before we even start talking about romance.

I like slow burn romance. I like affectionate friends who realize they can be something more. I like people who learn to implicitly trust each other before they become romantically involved. To be honest, I like Hermione's intelligence. (Intelligence is hot.) But it's not everything, and again, I like the complementary nature of Harry and Hermione's abilities.

I dislike many of the standard Hollywood romance tropes that force conflict to make romantic drama "interesting." Harry and Hermione do have minor drama between them, but they learn to communicate when it's important, and they come to consensus or find ways to move forward. They try to help each other when they sense the other is upset. They sometimes get angry or upset, but they don't hold serious grudges against each other. Even when Harry is annoyed by Hermione at times in his internal monologue, he finds appropriate times to express it, or lets it go a lot of the time. By DH, they are not afraid to be vulnerable emotionally with each other. Even when they have feelings that make them want to isolate, to not be around each other, they overcome them and try to find strength together. They are not afraid to push or challenge each other when necessary. Those are serious relationship skills. Even for adults, they would be admirable relationship skills. For two teens, the glimpses into a few moments between them are extraordinary.

People these days talk about "relationship goals." I like to read about people who develop relationship skills, because those are the things that tell you a couple will last.

I honestly feel like we need better narratives and models of good, healthy relationships to show teenagers and young adults. I don't think Harry and Hermione are perfect, but they could be a beautiful example of a nuanced friendship and romance.

Most importantly, I love romance stories where it turns out that the perfect person for you in romance is your close friend, the one who has been by your side all along... and you come to that realization that true love comes out of two people who have already shown that long-term commitment to each other. What a lovely idea.”

i will talk a lot below that prob wont be interesting anyway, but i have to say first that i mostly stopped watching movies and now i mostly watch things @yasminewestbank chooses (not all the time but mostly) bc shes a movie nerd, so she picks movies that are usually either genuinely good or at least watchable, and if it was just me alone id prob not be bothering to watch those anyway, bc even a great movie just doesnt give me that much. i suffer from pretty severe apathy :( so if u want someone who hypes up genuinely good movies rather than me who is like "this is genuinely good but im still apathetic and dont really care" then yasmin is better to talk to. (im also generally more of a nonfiction type when it comes to video content, i could hype up Tasting History on youtube most days of the week but i struggle to hype up any movie at all. oh, and animated shorts, there are always some interesting student films and stuff.) the rest ⬇

my taste is usually "its [symbolic or not] critical commentary on something i care about" (feminism and misogyny, classism, bigotry, racism, the queer experience, abuse, trauma, violence, human self development, etc etc) or "its portraying human experiences [internal and external] in an interesting or just realistic way", like. realistic but in a highly specific meaning of realistic. i dont care about realism as a concept itself in art (realistic visuals or realistic setting or realistic costume etc i rly do not care about), what i mean is just about capturing a real essence of human brains and experiences, not copypasting stereotypical ideas without meaning. i can also enjoy some more abstract like david lynch bc its expressing human feelings and experiences in an appealing way. im really big on symbolic stuff and will just keep talking about what different parts of the movie meant or represented after i watch something w yasmin.

(edit to add... i should prob note that many of the movies i mention have adult content and heavy topics depending on who you ask? but i assume ppl who read this would already know to check ratings and warnings)

on the criticising / teaching side of meaningful, it would be for example, Poor Things [2023].... on the realistic / documenting side, for example Burning [2018] or Naked [1993], and i liked ryuusuke hamaguchi's movies Wheel of Fortune and Fantasy, and Drive My Car (tho that one has a really badly written scene in it by the end that i hated) for the characters too. i dont know if those are the best examples its more just off the top of my head. theres also mainstream movies that fit my criteria, so for that criticising / teaching side, there's for example Pleasantville [1998], and Pretty Woman, which yasmin told me ppl tend to hate, but if thats the case i think ppl really didnt understand what it was about (it showed so much about misogyny and class issues, coated in such a way that you could get average boomers to watch it as a "romantic" movie without being aware of the actual meaning of what youre going into, the same way pleasantville can be watched as a goofy gimmick movie without being aware of the meaning youre going into, tho pleasantville is heavyhanded by the end, and i guess pretty woman manages to still fly over ppls heads? but not too surprising considering all those mainstream things now will literally just explain every joke and every meaning.... its like all of media is mickey mouse clubhouse, you know?)

i more or less prefer to watch an animated short or a weird animation on youtube/social media than watching a good live action movie. some animated shorts i really liked recently are Au Revoir Jerome, GLOIRE AMERE 40000, and BOLAVLK/WEREAWOLF, and vewn stuff. and i like those Molly Moon game tiktoks, as an example of like, low production stuff…. i dont care at all how much money or time went into something, but bc im usually not actively seeking fiction video content on my own, its more about what falls into my lap by chance, or yasmin/someone shows me.

i thought of listing more movies but its kinda hard for me to remember them after a while (re: apathy). i remember i liked another one from the Poor Things guy called The Favourite but i barely remember what happens in it. I liked one called This Must Be The Place, and one called Annette. those are movies yasmin showed me or that she picked for us to try together.

oh, one movie i saw on my own that i liked a lot is And Then We Danced. it has some less good parts, but overall it for some reason really lives rent free in my head. it felt like i went and lived in georgia with the characters for an hour, idk, it was done in an immersive way that impressed me and i found appealing. another one i remember from years ago is Lille Soldat (little soldier) which i really enjoyed the main character in. that stuck with me. ive tried to find this movie to show to yasmin, but its been hard to find.

i used to watch lots of random movies (from different countries, different times in history, i had a phase where i watched a bunch of really old horror movies) but most of its been forgotten and then i just stopped watching movies whatsoever bc the mainstream ones are generally unwatchably bad and i didnt have motivation to go out of my way to find good movies anymore. its still hard even with good ones. like, The Square, and Triangle of Sadness, i watched with yasmin and it was fine, but i had already tried watching The Square alone and had to stop after a minute bc it just made me cringe and feel bored. but watching it together with her was fine and i did enjoy the meaning. so thats why i say i might not even be watching good movies if it was up to me alone....

My intention was to roll Aeryn through this entire game without her forming any romantic attachments. I knew she was ace and thought she might also be aro, too; and with the backstory I was slowly brewing up for her, I felt she would be too focused on discovering herself to even think about complex interpersonal relationships. In a place where she woke up with nothing but her name, it seemed natural that she might secretly yearn for family and friendship, for belonging and for home - but no more than that.

She had a unique and close friendship with Ywain that I thought might develop into an innocent little crush if I ever wanted to explore something different for her, but it wasn't something I felt she had time to consider with all the early ARR happenings and her own internal strife. Ywain (and the guild) became a safe haven for her to return to. She trusted him, and she enjoyed his company because he accepted her reticence without question and didn't belittle her lack of strength - only offered opportunities to grow stronger. It seemed like a decent foundation for a Potential Something if I ever wanted to go that route with her.

But then I got her to the Waking Sands, and Urianger flipping opened his mouth. My entire brain short-circuited. I Could Not Even with the poetic language and the voice and the hiding his face and the everything. The more partial I started feeling toward his character, the more I thought about sweet moments that might occur between him and Aeryn. A good friend would tell you that I maintained for months that they would just forge a very strong friendship and soulmate-level of understanding, even while side-writing fic that I maintained wouldn't be canon to Aeryn's story.

Some 85,000 words later, now... oops?

I don't think I can deny anymore than I have a very strong bias toward my little WoLship.
