finally decided to draw out an idea i’ve had for a while of jigsaw apprentices (and the others) having their own puzzle pieces
more thorough explanation under the cut that i BEG that you read because i actually put thought into this:
lawrence’s puzzle piece: shoulder
was originally carved into his ankle underneath the chain cuff but had to be redone by john because of…obvious reasons
john re-carved the marking into lawrence’s shoulder while he was in his care. the placement symbolises where he shot adam and act as a constant reminder of lawrence abandoning him (except not here because let’s pretend adam survives miraculously)
adam’s puzzle piece: ankle
pretty simple, only carved there because of the cuff on his leg from the bathroom
he is vaguely mad he isn’t twinning with lawrence anymore though
amanda’s puzzle piece: arm
where else would i put it really? taking into account her previous drug addiction and sh the poor girl’s arms have been through a lot
john actually didn’t carve hers pre-game like everyone else’s; he did it during her ‘baptism’ if you will when she joined him as an apprentice
lynn’s puzzle piece: temple/side of head
again, pretty simple. references shotgun collar and how she could’ve had her head blown off
hoffman’s puzzle piece: lower back
no other reasoning other than i thought it was funny to give him a tramp stamp
strahm’s puzzle piece: chest/neck area-ish
honestly i wasn’t too sure where to put strahm’s because he’s already got a scar from the water cube and the glass coffin didn’t really leave much room for physical injuries that wouldn’t kill you instantly
decided on placement because of symmetry with trach scar (the artistic reasoning, if you will), and also peter’s buttons are opened during the water cube in a way that suggests that hoffman did it on purpose
i will pretend that he opened them up for the sake of carving the puzzle piece into strahm’s chest as opposed to just getting him to show some titty

Irondad fic ideas #154
CW: this one's pretty gruesome. read at your own risk
Peter is a young child who's been kidnapped. His parents and/or his aunt and uncle were killed and he was taken. Along with a bunch of other little kids, he's been held captive and experimented on.
When the Avengers suddenly bust the kidnapping operation, the kidnappers try at the last second to destroy their research. They gas the small room where the kids are being held.
It's Iron Man who ends up blasting through. What he finds is horrifying. All but one of the children are dead.
The one who's left is just sitting among the bodies, crying, shocked, terrified. Iron Man carries him out of there, then once they're safe from the gas Tony steps out of the suit to comfort the kid while he's given oxygen.
Little 5-year-old Peter Parker imprints on his savior hard.
He just went through an unimaginable amount of trauma, then Iron Man burst through like an avenging angel. This is the first time he's ever felt protected in his memory. Tony holds the crying kid, and the kid can tolerate no one else near him.
This becomes a slight problem when they get back to base. But Tony can't find it in him to let SHIELD take the kid away, let them strip him of this one tiny bit of comfort. He keeps seeing all those other kids when he closes his eyes.
This one needs him right now. And if "right now" eventually becomes "this is my son," well. Who could've predicted that.

Time passed differently in Azkaban.
Or maybe that was just Barty losing his last remaining brain cells. Either way, he was beyond caring.
Evan was dead. Dorcas was dead. Regulus was dead. Pandora was forever lost to him - locked up as he was in Azkaban.
So really, Barty doesn’t bother to acknowledge his new cell mate.
Whatever he’d done, he was no threat to Barty.
“Oh you’ve got to be fucking kidding me.”
Barty blinks. That voice. It sounded so similar but it couldn’t be -
Barty turned to see the new comer, seeing black hair and grey eyes, his heart beat picking up.
He was alive, he was alive - and -
Oh. Barty slumped, as he realised the person in front of him was not in fact, Regulus arising from the dead.
Sirius, the objectively worse brother, was still ranting. “He’s a fucking death eater and - “ Suddenly he cuts himself off and then starts laughing mumbling something about how he’d join the club. As if Sirius Black would ever become a death eater.
He sounded deranged, unstable, even to Barty’s ears.
The auror seems horrified and without much more effort dumps Sirius in the cell and hightails it out of there.
“If I had known all I had to do to get them to leave was laugh I would have done it ages ago.” Barty muses and Sirius suddenly stops laughing, turning to him.
“You.”
Barty simply stares back.“Yes. Me.”
Sirius ignores him. “What did you lot do to Regulus.”
The name turns Barty cold. “Why would you care? I thought you didn’t have a brother.”
At this, Sirius visibly flinches and Barty stares, shocked. The Sirius Black he knew never displayed any emotions, especially with regards to Regulus that wasn’t blatant disinterest.
Sirius stares at him. “I.. Look.I need to know. I just.. I need to know.”
Barty hears it the familiar heartbreak. That’s the thing isn’t it? He didn’t know either. He had assumed that the order had somehow got their hands on Regulus but well, it was foolish to assume so anyways. Regulus was much too smart to be caught.
“I don’t know.”
At that Sirius intakes a quick breath, “So he’s alive then? There was no body so he could have run away- “
“Regulus was many things but he wasn’t a coward.” Barty cuts in coldly. Regulus wouldn’t just leave them. At least not without informing first.
Sirius just slumps, tears filling his eyes. Good. Barty thinks. Sirius had caused Regulus enough pain. Maybe it was sadistic but it felt good to know that Sirius was also hurt by Regulus.
Finally when Barty thinks that’s it Sirius adds. “He was always one to keep things close to him.”
Barty couldn’t help but bark out a laugh. He had been Regulus’s friend for 7 years and at most he could say he knew 5 facts about him. “Understatement of the century.”
And then they both look at each other and laugh, a harsh sound that comes from grief for the boy they both loved but couldn’t save.
