Howdy! I am considering submitting manuscripts I've written to a publisher or possibly self publishing. The publisher states on their website that authors must maintain an active social media presence. I'm not normally a social media type, Tumblr is my only one. What would you reccommend for such? Is it worth it to pay someone to make a website for me? Thanks and many virtual kisses for Dot and Deebs!

Honestly, I haven't submitted to a publisher since before a lot of modern social media existed. :D

It is my understanding, but this is secondhand information, that publishers want you to have either a twitter or a tiktok, preferably both, where you're frequently active and have a high follower count, because they want you to be able to publicize your book on it. One of many reasons I don't even consider trad publishing anymore is that I don't want to spend a significant chunk of my time filming videos for the sole purpose of hawking my books.

Now, as I said, that's an inference I've drawn; you may want to speak to someone who has been trad published recently to get the inside scoop (readers if you work in publishing or have been published recently, feel free to add commentary; remember to comment or reblogs, as I don't repost asks sent in response to other asks). I do have an author website but I built my own; I don't know what the going rate is for paying someone to build one these days but most website platforms are pretty intuitive to use -- I built mine on Wordpress and I'm building a new one on Wix currently, and at this point both are very drag-and-drop oriented. I do think a website is a good thing for an author to have, but I wouldn't pay someone to build one for you until you've taken a swing at DIY and decided it's not where you want to spend your time and energy.

In terms of self-publishing, the good news is that none of the rules apply; this is also the bad news. :D Because the thing about selfpub is that you either pay or DIY for...everything. It can be very inexpensive; when I publish a book the only direct monetary cost is what I pay for an ISBN and a proof copy of the book, which I will make back in the first 10 sales or so. However, I am "paying" in man hours in terms of typesetting, cover design, uploading the PDFs to lulu.com, proofing the initial copy, correcting the proof and reuploading (which usually involves further typesetting), and of course all the publicity -- website design and redesign, copywriting, tumblr posting. And while my profit per copy sold is well above what most authors with traditional publishers will make, that's because the publisher is doing a lot of the work for you. And, because I don't have an active twitter or tiktok or a publisher, my books are not very widely publicized. Undoubtedly I sell fewer copies than I would if I had a robust twitter following, but catch me touching that rancid wasteland without inch-thick gloves on.

So -- I think it's probably pretty important to understand that I have deliberately rejected trad publishing for good but not lucrative reasons, and I'm considered at best an iconoclast and more commonly a crank for having done so. If you can go the tradpub route, I would, but I also wouldn't put any money you're not prepared to write off as a loss into that pursuit. Definitely I would see if there's anyone in the industry you can reach out to who can answer these questions with a more thorough understanding of what publishers look for in an author and how to go about achieving that than I possess.

In any case, good luck! It's a journey regardless and I hope you enjoy your time on the path wherever you end up. And I'll give the cryptids a special cuddle for ya.

I know very little of what’s going on in 9-1-1 outside of BuckTommy content, for mental health reasons, so please forgive any inaccuracies in this headcanon:

After the Kim and Eddie thing, Christopher’s grandparents want to sue for custody by painting Eddie as a bad parent, but when they sue, it activates Eddie’s trap card aka Buck listed as Christopher’s guardian.

Buck informs Tommy of the situation, and seeing as how Tommy is friends with Eddie, he’d be willing to do anything to keep Christopher in Eddie’s life and he cares about Christopher. So he suggests that he and Buck have a quickie wedding at the courthouse, so they can appear to be a united front with a healthy household to raise Christopher in, so Christopher can stay close to Eddie.

It also doubles as a way to make the grandparents look homophobic in court if they try to argue against it. I know a little about the court system, but not enough for this headcanon to make sense in a legal way, so feel free to correct me and add your own ideas.

Then once Eddie and Christopher get the mental health care they need and properly heal, Christopher moves back in with Eddie.

Buck and Tommy decide they like married life and stay married. They all live happily ever after.

I’m not sure this is a headcanon or a fanfic idea. I don’t know. My brain is not at peak performance right now. This is a rough draft idea, who knows.

One day, your kingdom was destroyed, you had to live with the pain of losing your family and being severely mistreated. [ Chapter 3 ]

It is said that today is the day the Emperor and Crown Prince return from a relatively long trip, which is why everyone in the palace is busy. That's what you heard. Well, you also want to do something to help them, you don't want to be free while everyone else is so busy with work.

“Your health is still very poor, rest!”

That's what Aisha told you before disappearing. And so now you have to be alone in your room, on your bed. Aisha and the Empress will act extremely worried and try to dissuade you when you try to do something alone without asking for their help or that of a servant. Even though you were grateful, you couldn't help but feel like it was a bit suffocating; you didn't want to bother others over small things or something.

You want yourself to get well quickly, and after walking better, you can quickly go home. Staying in Elmir for too long will bother everyone a lot.

Moreover, being here makes you feel extremely strange. Even though you've been here for a while, everyone is kind and friendly, but you still can't get used to it. Do you think maybe it's because you don't speak the same language, so it's difficult to integrate with them, or not...?

You don't know, you're just not used to this place, this isn't your home, and it's so strange because it doesn't exist in your memories. Despite Princess Aisha's efforts to make you feel comfortable with your new home, you still don't feel any better. You wouldn't say that to her, you didn't want people to be disappointed after all their efforts. In fact, you are very grateful to them.

Gently place your feet on the floor, the coolness of the stone floor makes your toes numb. You tried to stand up with both legs with your strength. When you finally did, your legs shook a little. Maybe Aisha was right, you were still too weak to do anything. Slowly walking to the window, the sunlight falling on you makes you feel warm. Elmir's weather right now is very beautiful: a blue sky, mild sunshine, and sometimes wind.

“… How is the weather at home?” You mumbled as your eyes still stared at the high blue sky.

It's strange, suddenly one day you wake up in a strange place with an empty mind without any memories. You have lost your memory. Up until now, you don't have any information about your family or where you live; you don't even remember where you live anymore. Every time you ask Aisha and Empress Iris about it, they only give vague or evasive answers. You don't even know why you lost your memory and suffered serious injuries because no one is willing to explain it to you. You couldn't help but be puzzled and curious, but they all seemed to be good at hiding things; they immediately and easily distracted you with another topic.

“I want to go home…” You want to go home because you think that place might make you feel more at home than Elmir. Your hand rests on the glass, and your mind begins to imagine the scene when you get home. Suddenly you realize that it seems like yesterday you had a rather strange dream, you don't remember it clearly. Now that dream has become vague, like a passing fog, suddenly disappearing, suddenly appearing, blurred. Blurry and unclear. But maybe you won't care about it anymore.

Returning to the bed, you sat down, causing the soft mattress to sink slightly. You look back at your hands, with the scars that have gradually faded. Well, thanks to everyone's care, even though sometimes you don't know why they are so good to you, it makes you want to do something to thank them.

As you keep thinking about it, you start to feel sleepiness creeping in, and you fall asleep again.

Aisha was looking forward to it; she knew. Of course, that's not strange, she couldn't help but feel happy and excited at the thought of her beloved father and brother about to return.

Standing in front of the palace's grand gate and hearing the sound of horse hooves approaching, she felt her heart beat a little faster. Empress Iris, standing next to her, couldn't help but smile when she saw her daughter's appearance. She herself was feeling lightheaded and happy.

When the group of knights led by the revered Emperor of the Empire officially entered the gate, servants stood on both sides, bowing their heads and bowing respectfully.

“Greetings, Emperor and Crown Prince!”

Aisha's smile immediately brightened when she saw the people she was looking forward to. She immediately waved to them, her cheeks turning pink. When the horse stopped, Crown Prince Isis could not stop himself but quickly got off the horse and ran like he was flying to Aisha, his beloved sister, to hug her.

"Brother!"

“Aisha! I'm back!” Isis hugged his sister tightly as if to make up for the time they had been apart, while also expressing the love and nostalgia he had for her. Isis loves her sister more than anyone; of course everyone knows that. "I missed you so much."

“I miss you too." The princess giggled while in her brother's arms.

“Ahem… Aisha, what about this father?”

The Emperor's voice made Aisha recognize him. She smiled shyly and then went to give him a hug.

“Welcome home, dad.”

Tyrion also happily hugged his daughter back. No less than Isis, the emperor himself missed his daughter and wife very much. His family is everything to him, and he will do anything if it means protecting his family's happiness and safety, even if it means sacrificing himself on the battlefield.

“Everyone must be very tired from such a long journey, let's go rest quickly.”

The palace servants began to get busy again, arranging and packing their luggage, some followed the royal family to help them.

On the way, Aisha and Isis couldn't stop themselves from talking to each other. They had a lot to say to each other after a period of separation, even though they exchanged letters during that time, but that was absolutely not enough! But the moments of being together and talking to each other are much more valuable. Their parents could only smile when they saw their children so excited, after all, they themselves knew that Isis and Aisha were deeply attached to each other.

When they had to temporarily separate, the two of them stopped. The Crown Prince couldn't help but smile regretfully, but his sister wanted him to rest, and in fact, he himself was very tired.

“See you later, Aisha. I really have a lot to tell you.”

“Yes, brother, please rest. I also look forward to talking to you.”

“See you at dinner.”

“Goodbye, brother Isis.”

Aisha waved goodbye to Isis, who turned toward the prince's palace with his servants following. She looked forward to the time they would spend together soon. Besides, the princess also felt extremely relieved; it was fortunate that everyone returned safely after the war. This battle happened suddenly, and the departure of the only heir to the throne, Isis, following Emperor Tyrion, also caused a lot of worry. Most people tried to prevent him from going to the battlefield because if something happened to the Empire's Crown Prince, the entire Empire would fall into chaos. Even so, he was still determined to step out onto the front-line.

She always knew that her brother was talented, very strong and intelligent, but on the battlefield, anything could happen suddenly and no one could predict. She sent letters to her father and brother regularly to make sure they were okay. An entire empire is represented by the Royal Family, after all.

Looking at her brother, who had disappeared, Aisha fell into contemplation as she turned away. Even though her father and brother have returned, it's unlikely their lives will return to their original trajectory any time soon. War and peace both stand between extremely fragile lines. One threat has been eliminated, but there are still countless other threats lurking. Especially a real enemy who is always lurking and stalking them.

And you, the one who will most likely have a big impact on their lives in the future.

Interviewer: What song on “Three Cheers” means the most to you and why? Gerard: “Helena” -that’s my grandmother’s name, and it’s about her. Originally, I wanted the lyrics to be more directly about her. It ended up being more of a song about her writing to me. The lyrics are very aggressive. It’s more about me ragging on myself for being away so much. After we had toured for about a year and a half straight, she died the day after I got home. She had been in the hospital, so I couldn’t see her because I was sick, too. I got home, and the next morning I woke up and she was dead. I was very angry with myself for that. I didn’t regret it, obviously, because she would have wanted me on the road. The song’s very aggressive towards myself. That’s kind of what I do. That song definitely means the most. It’s awesome. We chose to use a young woman not so it connected with kids -- it was to make people take it more seriously. Helena remained on the charts when other songs went away. Now we are not talking shit, but our song got bigger and it made us feel that we had a chance at making a career out of this. To be able to make music that is relevant for as long as possible, that's all we want.

I'm Not Okay was like this very simple, direct song about multiple high school depressions, suicide attempts, alcoholism -- it's about being an outcast. So that's Not Okay. Helena was the one that really encapsulated the band so in a way I'm happy that Helena did better than Not Okay. It was a very personal song (it's about Gerard's late grandmother), and it was the song that shaped the record. It's the most important song on the record for me. It feels great to win stuff 'cause of the subject matter, but at the same time, what it's done to people is more rewarding than awards. Like I said, awards aren't always the most validating thing, so the fact that Helena touched so many lives, even in death, I think that is really what's amazing about it.

I have to say something about this because it is really starting to piss me off and I need to rant about this to get it off my chest, so warning for long post ahead! And I apologize if I seem all over the place, I'm writing this sleep deprived and have nothing but rage fueling me at this point.

The fact that people are getting so upset about Disney putting a scene about a girl going through her first period is so fucking stupid. And everytime I hear them trying to make an argument against it, it physically hurts to listen to it.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, Disney's newest show, "Baymax!" which is a spinoff series of the movie "Big Hero 6", has a 1 minute and 30 second scene where Baymax helps a young unprepared, confused and scared girl, who is stuck in a public bathroom, get through her first period. Baymax leaves to get her menstrual products to help but is uncertain as to what exactly he should get for her. He asks for help and people nearby gives him different options to choose from. Still unsure as to what to get for her, he buys a large variety and gives them to the girl. The scene is basically Baymax helping a young girl who's going through puberty and is experiencing a natural body function but is uncertain in how to handle it.

And people are complaining about the fact that children are being exposed to such "sexualized content". Bro, wtf do you find sexual about a period? It's a part of puberty, something that every person goes through. The only people who think this way are the sick bastards who sees girls/women as nothing more than sexual objects and that a period is an indicator that the girl is "ready to reproduce".

To start off, periods are not an adult topic. It's not something that should be censored for children. Girls aren't getting periods when they're 18 years old, when they've become "fully grown women". They're getting them while they're still young children. The average age that a child gets their first period is around 16, at the latest, and 10, at the earliest. Not to mention that the recommended age that you're child should learn about them is when they're 8 at the latest because there are cases where they can get them as young as 8.

People claim that Disney "went too far" by putting such a topic in one of their shows and are now refusing to watch anything of Disney's except for their earlier works since they're much more "child friendly". Like, bro, no they're not!

For example;

- They're ok with their child watching The Lion King, THE LION KING; a movie where the villain explicitly states that he plans on killing his own brother and child nephew for selfish reasons.

- A movie where you see a character literally being thrown to his DEATH, followed by a scene where his son finds his corpse ON SCREEN and begins to cry and cuddle up to said corpse.

- A movie where the villain blames the CHILD for the death of his father, telling him to "Run away and never return!", before sending a group of hyenas to KILL HIM.

A movie where multiple animal skeletons are shown onscreen more than once. Where in one scene where the villain grabs a fucking skull and sings a little diddy to it. FUN!

- A movie where the ending shows the shadows of the villain literally being mauled to death and presumably eaten by a pack of hyenas.

Yet despite all that, The Lion King is considered a "classic children's" movie that parents have no problems with showing their child. But the second a TAMPON is on screen, THEN they're worried about their child's "innocence".

Well, I'm pretty sure they also didn't want to see a scene where a guy gets fucking murdered by his own brother yet you have no problems with them watching that now do you?

You really want to boycott a show to protect children, then fucking boycott shows that are like Toddlers & Tiaras where they have young, YOUNG girls put on heavy makeup and dance in a fucking two piece.

And the funniest thing is, a lot of these complaints I've seen about this scene are from fucking GROWN MEN keen on gatekeeping important information from young girls. And I'm sick and tired of all these sensitive snowflakes freaking out over a fucking maxi pad. Like seriously, grow up. Properly educate your child so that they don't wake up one day confused, in pain and bleeding everywhere completely unprepared. Educate your children. Actually be a parent.

And we all need to listen.

So now, especially if you live in a western country like I do, now we step it up a notch. Now is the time if you haven’t already to read up on Palestinian history. Listen to what the people of Palestine are saying. Hold firm on the boycott like never before. Any and every way you can donate, do it. eSIMs, aid, anything that will reach. Save as much evidence as you can. Videos, articles. Don’t let Zionists pretend all of this never happened.

Even if you think there’s nothing you can do, I’m telling you, keep going. Even if you feel you can only give a little, if we all give a little together it becomes much more.

Follow the BDS instructions, find protests in your area if you can, boost as much information about Palestine as you can find, call your reps, and do not lose hope. Only two columns in Masonry view. Unfixable, Tumblr creates columns based on monitor size, if I try adding another column (because it doesn't exist) it just perpetually loads on screen. Tempfix: Zoom out in chrome/firefox and it adds more columns

Search bar doesn't appear on some pages (like viewing a post), this is because Tumblr removed the search bar on those pages completely. Unfixable!

Tumblr has ONCE AGAIN CHANGED THE ACCOUNTS MENU. The menus are now shorter and have less information on them. This is unfortunately permanent. I do not see any way to fix this. Unfixable.

If you want people's icons to stay fixed in place, instead of scrolling with the dashboard add;

Solved issues: (Update)

Menus need to be manually closed SOLVED! in V.4 and updated in V.5! The menu & icon WILL scroll with you if you have removed the sticky header CSS, however, clicking anywhere on screen will make the Menu disappear still.

Masonry view in searches is now fixed!

Im just going to talk about the ones i'm closest to, but if you know about these fires, feel free to add in the reblogs!

Chile

In Chile there's (up to Feb 5) 160 wild fires, of which 40 are still trying to be controlled by authorities. The president, Gabriel Boric, has declared State of Emergency in the whole country, and theres a Red Alert Code in most part of the country.

Isla de Chiloé, Southern Chile (900 km away from Santiago de Chile)

This is a (recently controlled) fire that lasted a week, but many neighborhoods were burnt to the ground.

The whole South is in red alert for constant sudden fires that spread quickly due to the lack of rain and the elevated temperatues in the zone. Just today, two fires had to be controlled in the main land next to this island, and more are being reported in the Los Lagos region. This is added to the "controlled" intentional fires that farmers make to clean their fields of old crops along the Central-South parts of the country, mostly surrunding the main route, Ruta 5, that connects the whole country, thus making it hard to see and breathe because of the smoke. (flashnews, most of them get out of control quickly.)

Valparaiso/Viña del Mar, Central Chile (100 km away from Santiago de Chile)

A fire that started on Friday 2nd and grew exponentially because of the wind and the dry, hot climate. More than 100 people are dead, with 70 unrecognized bodies and other 400 that have dissapeared. At least 30000 people that have lost everything to the fire.

There's massive evacuations from this and the neighboring city, Viña Del Mar.

This is said to be the second most deadly fire in the century, surpased by Australia in 2009.

45000+ hectares that include land and neighborhoods have been burnt down.

Argentina

Parque Los Alerces (Esquel), Chubut

The fire strarted on the 25th January, and the climate has made it hard to contain. 3000 hectares of native forest have been burnt to teh ground. It is now growing in the direction of the nearest city, Esquel. Theres been evacuations between yesterday and today (4 and 5th Febuary)

Parque Nahuel Huapi (Bariloche), Río Negro

The reason why im writing this. The city woke up today covered in smoke after a wildfire developed yesterday during the night. The reason? A fireplace that was not turned off in a place where people cannot disembark and can only be reached via boats.

As of now, there's not much information about the fire but hopefully the firefighters will be able to contain it before it reaches Tronador Mountain, where an ancient glaciar is.

...which leads me to the other point i wanted to talk about.

Firefighters

They volunteer to do this job.

In Argentina and Chile, firefighting is not rewarded with a salary, and most of the times they dont even have full firehouses to stay in. These people are at their houses, ready to jump into action and run to the station the second the alarm goes off.

They are neighbors, people that risk their lives and run into danger willingly, just because they want to help the community.

I felt the need to give a shout-out to these people and say:

Don't be a fucking dick, don't start fires in the woods unless it's an approved place, and if you do, TURN IT OFF.

Pour abundant water on it, and do not stop when you don't see any more flames.

Keep pouring water until the ashes don't burn/feel like room temperature in your hand if you put it 10 cm away from it, and even then, pour some more just to be sure.

No heat and no smoke mean a safely extinguished fire.

Save lives and forests.

The Coastal Collection - Part Eight

It feels very strange to say, but here it is, the eigth and final part of the Coastal Collection 😭 Its been quite the journey that started all the way back in January! But with all great things it must come to an end. I'm very excited to move onto a new set of items that will take us all the way through into the new year and beyond. I'll have more information on that later this month.

This last part focuses in on the living room. I started off with the standout showpiece of the month, the piano. It was yet another labour of love, similar to the playhouse from part 2, but I'm really happy to have finally been able to add a new piano for you and your sims to enjoy. There wasn't a single inspiration image pinned to my board that didnt have built in cabinets next to the fireplace, so of course a full set of those were essential for this collection.

Types of Amnesia

General criteria for amnesia:

Memory loss

Confusion

Inability to recognize familiar figures/places

Difficulty recalling names or places

Not remembering where you went

Worser ability to remember things that had happened

Generalized Amnesia Where a person completely forgets everything about themself and have no recollection of what, where, and who they spoke to. This can describe a blackout switch and may still recognize who they are.

Localized Amnesia Where a person is unable to recall a specific/series of event from the whole, which creates an incomplete picture of the situation. For example, remembering childhood but not the abuse.

Selective Amnesia Where a person only lost some and retain the rest, forgetting parts yet not all of them. This can describe greyouts as it grasps some information/sensory yet not enough to tell what exactly happened. One example is playing the phone and unable to recall what occured, only to jump its memory right to being at bed.

Emotional Amnesia Where a person has an intact memory and it's details on what had happened, but do not remember what the event feels like (e.g. was scared, happy, etc.). One description is that you're watching something that didn't happen to you, because you don't feel like being in the scene itself.

Continuous Amnesia Where a person fails to retain full parts of the event/day, for a set period of time (can vary from minutes to days) and create an accumulative, small bits of selective amnesias, continuously, leaving many gaps in a chronological timeline. This usually happens in times or stress, or abuse.

Fragmented Amnesia Where a person has an unrelated, and/or disjointed memories that does not go with the timeline's order, creating confusion and difficult to grasp the cohesive picture of what truly happened. Emotional amnesia may be present in this type. Bonus for systems:

Amnesia barriers Where a person fronting is not able to recall other alter's memories, which is a form of retrograde amnesia and compartmentalization. Because the fronter will only retain any information before switching out with the next one, the rest experiences anterograde amnesia as it cannot form and remember those memories, unless being coconcious or cofronting (even though, this is not always guaranteed).

Take notes that amnesia can still happen outside system things due to comorbidities like anxiety disorders or depression, this does mean systems are bound to experience more amnesia compared to non-systems folks out there.

"Oh." He whispered. "You should probably get out of here then. It's not safe for little girls like you to be in the Wastelands alone." He said sadly, leaving out the bit you both knew, you weren't safe with HIM alone.

Peaking your head around the corner you find none other than Cooper Howard and... a vaultie? You did very little to hide the confusion on your face as you looked between the two.

"Hey, you." You said to Cooper. "What are you doing here?"

"Could ask you the same thing, sweetheart." He responds, pushing the vaultie through the doorway and making his way to Roger.

"Hey Rog," Cooper greets him.

"Hey. Hey." Rogers laughs, relieved to see his friend. "Fancy seeing you here. You out for that bounty, too, huh?"

"Yep," Cooper responds as he knelt in front of his friend.

You all stand there in silence for a bit, listening to Roger snarl and whip his head around. 

"Oh, shit," Roger says between wails.

"How you feeling?" Cooper asks quietly, already knowing the answer.

"Oh.. you know," Roger replied. "It's hard out here. Dang smoothies can be so unkind. I see you got a smoothie of your own." He says as he looks over at the vaultie.

You also turn to look at the vaultie, a look of displeasure on your face. "A smoothie of your own." Repeating over and over in your head. You wanted to be his smoothie. You and Cooper never really started a relationship, but you thought you were heading in that direction. You gave him a generous discount on Radaway since you developed a little crush on him, and he would always spend more time than necessary with you whenever you crossed paths. He was always fussing after you and was always telling you how you were too reckless. In his eyes, everything was too dangerous for you. He knew how you felt about him, and you THOUGHT you knew how he felt about you, but this vaultie threw a wrench in everything. "Maybe I was wrong. Maybe he doesn't like me." You thought to yourself while eyeing her up. You were so lost in thought that you could barely hear Roger snarling next to you. 

"You're turning," Cooper says reluctantly, his voice pulling you from your thoughts.

"Yeah maybe, maybe." Roger says on the verge of tears, "Maybe. Hey, you don't happen to have any vials, do you? Y/n is all out."

Cooper's eyes met yours as you nodded your head sadly.

"Just one little puff and I'll be back on my feet. You know I'm good for it." Roger pleaded.

"I'm sorry Roger I am all out," Cooper says, looking back toward his friend.

"That's okay. That's okay." Roger mumbles. "Though, um, you and y/n and your smooth-faced friend, you um... you might want to clear out before things get ugly."

You flinch as you hear Roger snarl again, each time he was getting louder and louder. You look down at your feet with tears in your eyes.

"I did okay. 28 years since I first started showing," Roger said looking between you and Cooper, before snarling again. "Oh, hell! Not as long as you though." He pointed proudly at Cooper, "You've outlasted us all. How long since you first started Wastelanding?"

"A long time," Cooper responds while shaking his head.

"That's a lot of vials," Roger said quietly.

"Well I've always been good at making money, Roger." Cooper exhales as he stands up. "Say, you remember how good food used to taste?"

"Yeah, BlamCo Mac and Cheese!" Roger says excitedly.

"Ice Cream and Apple Pie." Cooper countered.

Roger laughed, a real laugh. He was happy. "Apple Pie is not nearly as sweet as young Y/n's southern accent though." He says smiling up at you. "You know, my mom used to -"

Before you knew what happened, Roger's brains were all over the wall. You looked up at Cooper with tears in your eyes. You knew it had to be done. You knew it was mercy, but it still hurt. 

"Why did you do that?" The vaultie asked. "He was sick."

"He wasn't gonna get better." You responded dryly.

"You usually don't go all the way out here sweetheart, not on your own. What are you up to?" Cooper asks you as he picks up Roger's body and places it in a position where he easily access what he needs.

You don't respond. Between the jealousy brewing in your stomach at the vaultie next to you and the sadness about Roger, you couldn't find the words you wanted to say. 

"Stop. Stop Stop." The vaultie pleaded, "Please, I know it's hard out here but you don't, you don't have, you don't have to resort to... to..."

Before he could respond you quickly made your way out of the building for some fresh air. You could hear their voices inside, but you decided to drown them out by humming to yourself. You didn't need to see him take apart Roger, and you definitely couldn't stand the sound of her voice any longer. You knew you should get walking, you were low on supplies and they would be leaving the building soon. You didn't want to face them again, but it felt like there were bricks in your boots. As exhaustion hit you, you sat down in the sand and closed your eyes, losing track of time.

"Hey," You hear Cooper say as he puts his hand on your shoulder. "You good, sweetheart?"

'Fine." You mumbled out. "You and your smoothie should get going." The venom in your voice was loud and clear, but you didn't care.

"That's what got ya panties in a bunch?" Cooper laughed. 

You glared up at him in response. "Don't laugh at me, Cooper."

"I am taking her to SuperDuperMart. Not keepin’ her as a pet.” Cooper smiles as he offers you his hand. 

"Oh," You responded quietly, feeling stupid.

"What is SuperDuperMart?" You heard the vaultie ask, but the two of you completely ignored her.

"No one could ever replace you, sweetheart," Cooper says as he cups your face. 

You couldn't help the smile that graced your face at his words, and the blush that creeped up your neck.

He smiled when he noticed the way your eyes flickered towards his lips. 

"When I get my hands on some Radaway, I'll show you just how much you mean to me." You whispered.

"Lookin' forward to it." He whispered back.

The two of you were so caught up in each other that you didn't even notice the look of pure disgust on the vaultie's face as she watched your interaction. Some people may never understand why you like Cooper so much, but honestly? You couldn't give a damn.

Angry about Lore.fm the "AO3 Audible app"

For those who don't know, Lore.fm is an app that's advertised as "audible for AO3". It uses AI text-to-speech voices to read fics on an app completely separated from AO3 and creates a local copy of the fic audio on your device. It is stated to be non-profit.

1. It's opt-out not opt-in, that alone is a red flag and worthy of suspicion. The only way to not get your fic used without permission is to email them - it is unsafe and dubious to hand out personal email addresses to companies you don't know.

2. It takes engagement and agency away from the authors. Readers using this app don't even need to interact with the original AO3 post. Only a link is needed to generate the audio. An extension would've been significantly more ethical than an app.

3. Valid criticisms towards this project are labelled by the developer as "ableist and classist". Most devices and browsers already have FREE screen readers available. Especially for IOS (since this is mainly advertised for IOS), the existing built-in accessibility screen reader is very decent! I'd know cause I've been using it for more than a decade!

4. The developers show zero transparency. The devs listed for this app are also in a company that made an AI WRITING/STORYTELLING APP called Spinoff. The fact that this information is hidden on the appstore for Lore.fm tells me all that I need to know. I found the source for this on this comment by CupcakeBeautiful. [Edit: Unfortunately, the comment has been deleted by reddit for some reason, so I have removed the link to it.]

This whole thing pisses me off. Once again it shows that people don't respect and don't care about actual fic writers. I wish people would stop exploiting fanfiction authors under the guise of accessibility. Please think carefully if this is a company/project you'd want to support.

I don't usually post things like this on this blog, but I don't think a lot of people are aware of this situation on tumblr. Please feel free to add any information that I've missed. If this post comes off as aggressive, I apologise. I am just very frustrated.
