The wildest ep of the Macgyver reboot

Sometimes I think fondly about Macgyver (2016) season 3 episode 13 Wilderness + Training + Survival....and how absolutely batshit this episode was. If the creators had decided to confidently maintain these chaos levels, I think the show would have been better and had a longer run in general (but that's just my opinion).

Some random insane details that got fully brushed over but make me lose my mind every time:

Mac actively choosing to bring no emergency supplies out of pure god complex.

That time the bad guy leader tore Mac's beanie off and grabbed him by the hair sexual-style. Absolutely no other character has thought to grab Mac by the hair in the original show or the reboot like wtf

EDIT I've been reminded by some friendly reblogs that hair-pulling happens in a couple other episodes. Regardless, it cracks me up every single time. The guy seems to do it out of pure frustration and that is so funny to me.

Riley wearing acrylics into the wilderness

The bad guy just up and massacred his entire squad so he wouldn't have to share the money. Like he just shot them all in cold blood. That's some GOT shit.

Mac getting shot in the thigh from like two inches away and not having his entire femur shattered.

Riley and Bozer running into a clearing scattered with dead bodies?? With Mac bleeding out (?) in the middle?? No questions asked.

At least two of the bad guys were SEVERELY injured and they just got left to die in the absolute middle of nowhere after all that emphasis on how dangerous the wilderness is lmfao

Bozer being totally confused by the word yarrow implying that he did literally none of the reading.

Why did he suddenly have a pickup truck for the occasion

Instead Leon arched an eyebrow. The damn asshole didn’t even say anything, he just kept looking at Krauser, those stupidly gorgeous eyes boring deep into Krauser’s damn spine. He’d never been this taken by someone before, and it wasn’t only because Leon was admittedly pretty, it was even more because he was so infuriatingly in control.

Krauser wanted to ruin that. He wanted to pin Leon against the wall and kiss him until his lips were bruised, his eyes wide and pupils dilated. He wanted to force Leon down on his knees and make him take him.

Why the fuck was he so obsessed with a goddamn prettyboy agent he had only met hours earlier?

- Or, Krauser gets injured but he can only focus on the dirty thoughts he has about Leon.

in which jack drake is resurrected and used as a bargaining chip against his own son, except tim is, as always, five steps ahead of the game. a jack drake character study that hooked me way more than i expected--i loved this semi-outsider pov on tim and tim's crew, and this fumbling but sincere second chance at a father/son relationship they never really had.

Right now I enjoy the Novocaine gifsets from @my-whumpy-media They also post alot about the actor Jack Quaid. Funny thing is...I never watched something with him in it I just think he's an awesome whumpee and love gifsets about him

I got Rise of the Guardians on DVD the other day. rewatched and realized why it was one of my favorite movies growing up. (it's the whump. the whump is why I loved it. character design played a part but it was the whump)

Oh i love that movie! And yes I too love it for the whump lol. That movie is surprisingly whumpy. I remember watching it for the first time and just consuming as much Jack whump fics as I could lol. So good.

Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan - 1x02 - French Connection

God i loved this scene. it's so quietly on point and subtly whumpy for less obvious reasons.

Firstly, the continuity is *chef's kiss* - there's his usual set of scars, yes, but also there's new bruises, because he's been through something.

Secondly, i love the people find out trope, and whilst the ambush on the base camp wasn't a secret, and that Jack had to fight, to have it all up there, laid bare and recorded for a whole room full of people to watch, powerful people at that... yum.

And of course, Jack's the first to look away from the screen, he lived it.

hey there :) just sliding into your inbox to ask if you have any other particular favorite CSI episodes aside from grave danger/stalker/gum drops? I got a little taste of Nick whump and now I'm fiending for more 👉👈

Nick just whumps so well, it gets under your skin. He's the youngest of like seven kids, the son of a judge and a lawyer and is always trying so hard to win everyone's approval and feeling like he's no one's favorite. It's like catnip to me but unfortunately, there's not enough of it. CSI friends, help me out, if one has already watched Stalker, Grave Danger, and Gum Drops is this really all that's left? 15 years, you'd think they could have given us a little more.

1x06 "Who Are You?" is a favorite episode of mine. When the ending leaves you feeling a little disappointed, I've got this missing scene

1x13 "Boom" is more of emotional whump with Nick's job on the line

10x23/11x01 Meat Jekyll/Shockwaves is the culmination of Season 10's serial killer arc but not the conclusion of that story. It is fantastic whump. I think it'll probably hit even without backstory

11x15 Targets of Obsession

There is a lot of emotional whump in 8x17/9x01 but warning for MCD. +Misunderstandings + Pizza Margherita by @elspirito23 --My dear dear sister wrote this. She's the one that got me into fic and introduced me to the term 'whump'. This is one of my favorites by her! It's a Man From UNCLE fic, with Napoleon whump, Illya guilt, and a nice dose of fluff. I love it so much!

+And on the seventh... by Dorinda --A Master and Commander Jack Aubrey/Stephen Maturin fic wherein they both go overboard during a battle and end up stranded on an island together. It's very well written and whumpy, and seems meticulously researched with lots of cool little details.

+The Forest Primeval by athena_crikey --An Endeavour whump fic! This is one of the very first fics I read on Ao3 and holds a special place in my heart. The characterizations are great and the whump is v good!

+The Ex by Marchling --911 Bucktommy Buck Whump fic! It's very good whump. And there was recently(ish) a second chapter added, so you get to read about it from both Buck and Tommy's POV which is super neat!

+Who are the Wolves in your Head? by LittleDarlingXOX --This was one of my favorite fics over on ff.net back in the day, and I recently discovered that it's on Ao3 as well! It's got Dick Grayson whump (hell yeah) and Jason Todd angst, it's sooo good! Sad and lovely!

+Lazarus Syndrome by Miss_Six --This Pacific Rim fic isn't overly whumpy, but it's very, very good. A super interesting take on the Drift. Super lovely fic with good Raleigh angst!

+sometimes the short end of the stick is the sharpest by @cartwrong --Slow Horses has been a unique experience for me in terms of fandom, in that I got in very early, and it's one of the smaller fandoms I've been in--and also one of the most active! And a large percentage of us like to put River Cartwright through it (and by it I mean hell, sorry River). This fic is no exception. The characterizations are on point and the whump is great!

+It's the Perfect Time of Year (Somewhere Far Away From Here) by @deepwoundsandfadedscars --Though I've never played it myself, as a preteen I used to watch my big brother play Uncharted in the hopes of there being some Nathan whump. This fic not only delivers on the Nathan whump, it packs a hell of an emotional punch. It's gorgeous and heart-wrenching, an intimate look at grief. Very good. <3

I saw one of your followers asking for non-fantasy books. The book I'm currently reading (Redemption by Jack Jordan) is a thriller & so far it's very whumpy! One of the main characters (there's 3 POVs) ends up having to protect the man who killed his son in a hit and run from his wife who plans to track him down and kill him. His wife drugs him and leaves him stranded in a motel in the middle of the desert without any means of escape. Then he gets badly bitten by a dog and later on gets shot in the shoulder and has to be treated by the man who killed his son. Here's a preview:

‘I need to stop the bleeding.’ He mumbles something in reply. ‘It’s going to hurt. I need you to open your eyes and listen to me.’ He comes to and looks up at me as if it’s taking all of his strength. ‘I’ve got to cauterize the wounds, okay?’ He frowns, not understanding. I raise the knife and the blowtorch for him to see. His face turns completely white. ‘Do you trust me?’ He takes a while, but he nods. ‘Yeah,’ he slurs. ‘I trust you.’

‘Bite down on this.’ I take the fresh towel that I’ve wound like a rope and put it between his teeth. ‘However much it hurts, you can’t scream, okay?’ I splash whisky on the wound; the only thing I have that’s remotely close to disinfectant. He arches up from the bed with the pain, spittle bubbling round the towel. ‘I’m sorry,’ I say, as I pick up the knife and the blowtorch. I heat the tip of the knife until it’s glowing like lava. There are tears in his eyes already.

Hils Watches Kiseki: Dear to Me - Ep 1

There are so many dramas on my to watch like that I don't even remember adding or why I added them. Did someone rec this to me? Maybe. Did I see some gifs? Equally likely.

Anyway, I've read the synopsis and it definitely sounds relevant to my interests. I haven't watched a Taiwanese gangster BL since History 3: Trapped which I watched in 2020. Hope this is as good

Tol and smol! I don't think these two are the leads but they are very cute. Maybe one of them is? Unclear.

He has piercings and a leather jack as well as what looks like a Hellfire Club shirt. I think this must be our gangster.

Smol and gangster seem to know each other so I don't think this is a legit kidnapping. If you have a smol friend (boyfriend?) you can pick them up and put them in your car.

Tol seems unconcerned that a kidnapping is happening right in front of his salad, and he smiled at gangster so I guess they also know each other? A lot is happening considering this has been on for less than 5 mins.

Okay, I'm not going to screenshot the credits because I'm sure we'll get to those scenes later but it looks like Smol and Gangster might be the side pairing. Ooh are they going to be like Jack and Zhao Lian from Trapped? I'm going to try not to compare these two dramas too much. And Tol is one of the leads and we're about to find out how he met his gangster boyfriend 4 years ago? Anyway, from the credits this drama looks quite whumpy so I think I will enjoy it :D
