Ever since I discovered the convention exclusive Barbies I've been excited to show them off. Allow me please to show you the 2021 National Barbie Doll Collectors Convention dolls: Barbie and Ken Power Pair.

But if you are not sufficiently impressed by Ken's rather squashed looking face (I have seen him described as "those brothers who have done too much plastic surgery" and "handsome Squidward"), you may be relieved to know that there was an AA set released as well as the Caucasian set.

I honestly couldn't tell you which one I like better. I think I like the AA Ken himself better, but I like his suit less.

The dolls themselves, rather than just the promotional photos, reveal that the outfits honestly look a little cheap - given these were limited edition convention exclusives, surely Mattel could have put in a slightly higher production value on these. At least give them some buttons and proper hems.

Kai x Reader Headcanon:

Imagine being cuddled up with Kai post coitus, both of you laying there quietly, his arms wrapped around you while you rub his chest, hands occasionally brushing over his belly while he rests his chin on the top of your head. Then you suddenly begin to hear a rumbling, gurgling sort of noise- like a soft lawnmower, long and drawn-out, coming from somewhere under your hands; and now he's vibrating.

You feel a light simper spread across your face. Your hands pause in their petting. "Are you purring?"

You hear Kai chuff in response, but he presses his chest against your hands, trying to get you to continue. "Yaks don't purr, Little Cretin," he says.

"But it means you like the rubs?" You ask, with just a thin hint of mischief.

Kai only chuffs again in response, but the not-purring doesn't start up again, as of he's suppressing it to spite you. You grin and start to take your hands away.

"Oh, well, if you don't like it-"

Kai's eyes open, and he holds you closer. "What-? No, keep-"

You giggled, and Kai, upon realizing how he's been fooled, snorts and grumbles something quietly, but pulls you closer all the same. He huffs, and you smile, nuzzling his neck. Kai then moves a little, leaving you just enough room to rub him again.

"...Just keep going. I'll tell you when you've made it up to me." He said.

And this time, he didn't hold back his purring.
