“What are you, a Kent?” 

It’s a saying in the world of the supernatural. A well-known one even. See, several, many generations back, no one quite knows when, the Kent family managed to run afoul of a particularly nasty creature who laid a curse upon them. The original wording, no one quite knows either, but the gist, everyone is aware of. For no firstborns will be born to them before they already have one. 

It was supposed to be airtight in a way, a curse that would end the entire bloodline really. For a child to exist before they could have a child? How could that be? 

Well. That curse had… backfired. It had backfired massively. Most, at least back when blood was everything, didn’t exactly ponder things like adoption to those outside of their own bloodline. The Kents however, lived in a very simple village, one that had disease spread through it often back then, leaving families childless and children parentless. 

What were they to do but take them in? And so they had a son, many sons and daughters even, before their firstborn. Now of course, most would simply dismiss it afterwards. After all, that was the end of the story, isn’t it? 

Well, no. See, the curse was a family-line curse, a just in case perhaps, that meant that each generation could not have any children until they had children. Perhaps it should have ended there, but well. It didn’t. 

Kents are a strange breed in the world of the supernatural, known for having a… bit of an adoption problem. If any child or babe were to be left near their land, one can be assured the family line would take them in as their own. 

Fae, demon, human, changeling, satyr, cyclops, half-breeds, werewolf- it didn’t matter. A Kent would gladly pick the child up and raise it as their own. And now, they could add aliens to that long, long list in the family line. 

And really, perhaps with this context, is it really surprising that when one Clark Kent, said alien, opens his door to a basket on his doorstep holding a trio of godlings, he takes them in with no questions asked?

Silly idea: Tucker says there will never be a dress that Danny doesn't rock. Sam has grown increasingly unhinged in trying to find a dress Danny can't wear. Sam's mom is just glad someone is wearing the dresses she buys for Sam

Jason/Danny soulmates AU:

The thing about these Soulmate Balls (or Soulmate Speed-dating, as younger people called them) that Gotham's most eligible bachelor and his wards always got roped into, was that you couldn't just introduce yourself. No, you had to say something unique to each person.

It started out as a morbid joke poking fun at his own death, and quickly became an exercise in how uncomfortable Jason could make other people while keeping count of how many he met. Besides, anything with large numbers seemed likely to elicit his Words: "Dude, what the fuck? That's way too many!"

Danny had thought his Words were weird when they first came in, maybe some sick joke. Now that he had accepted that ghosts were real, along with halfas and liminals and other things, he was more willing to take them at face value.

Still, he thought he was more likely to meet his soulmate in the ghost zone than in the party Sam had dragged him to, with Words like, "I've died and come back twenty-seven times."

LMAO okay first of all I love the concept of Soulmate Balls/Speed-Dating that's beautiful. Second, yes love me some dead on main. Also do we think Danny would count every time he's transformed as him dying? I feel like after they have a conversation Danny could potentially tell Jason he's died more times.

Have you ever thought about anything involving Duke x Sam?

I have not

Until this very moment :D

Now, unfortunately, I don’t have too much of an understanding of Duke’s character since he’s not often mentioned in the DpxDc fandom (or dc in general) but what I do know from when Duke does appear is that he is Bruce’s favorite child.

The apple of the man’s eye, because Duke is just so kind. He’s soft in a way that the others aren’t.

But he has a wild history what with being part of the “we are robin” movement, and also once having been the leader of a gang (?) at some point or another. Like, I literally just found out in real time that this boy thought that the best way to escape the cops was to jump off a gosh darn bridge.

This boy will not hesitate.

Quite frankly, Duke is just as bad as the rest of the batsiblings.

Duke is the daytime vigilante and one who kicks ass in yellow.

And then you have Sam.

Black clothing mixed with dark colors, heavy belts and laced fish-nets, coupled with rbf. She dislikes burning underneath the sun, wears heavy combat boots when it suits her, and when it doesn’t she’ll find some alternative that will still match to the deeply adored goth style.

She loves animals more than people, but is so fiercely protective of her friends. She’s got bite to her words, and doesn’t often see the best in others, not when she has been disappointed in some way or another by her parents, by other students, by a literal government agency that does more harm than good. But she has her heart in the right place all the same.

Sam is the type who you will believe has fist fought the police.

She technically HAS fist-fought the police.

She may not be a vigilante, but she had assisted one and knows exactly what sort of cause and effect can bring the best distraction and disaster all at the same time.

With all that said I propose the idea of “opposites attract” being cute trope for a Duke and Sam pairing.

Please note that it's intentional that Sam is romanticizing death and has over-blown anti-human feelings. they're a depressed teenager! they're going through it and they're coping the only way they know how. They'll learn to grow more healthy world views and ways of dealing with their depression with time. Please don't assume I'm condoning their world-view lol.

Anyway on a lighter note, I wanted Sam and Tucker to look different than my usual AU stuff in this AU, so I hope you guys like the design change!

Updates will be infrequent as I'm pretty busy. However, I did this on a team call day so I was kind of productive in my other projects haha!

Danny's first appearance as Phantom to the wider public over in Central City where he gets control over Ember. At first it was assumed he was a Super but that was quickly disregarded simply by the lack of association/symbol identifier and power set. Like how wild would it be to have some random villain no one has seen before wreck half the city with no way to stop them and a new hero come in and easily stop her when some of the top heroes couldn't.

Here is also Flash freaking because of a new hero as he was the first hero to actually see/interact with Phantom.

Also I still have no idea what to call this au so it's still going to be non shrike au till I figure it out, but thank you aus because that means slightly different designs and headcanons to incorporate! This AU takes place when the trio is all in college, nearing the end of their studies. Danny is majoring in Physics with duel minors in inorganic chemistry and maths over at Central City University. He's mostly living on his own without much help other than from Sam. Between breaks or semesters, Danny interns over at S.T.A.R. labs. Also because I can, Danny has faint lichtenberg scars on one side of his body that are now pretty hard to notice. He loses most of the playfulness with his fights as he gets older because he has things to do and the whole hero thing is just kinda a side gig at this point.

Even though they're apart, Sam, Tucker, and Danny all remain close. Sam ends up going to a different university, Gotham University specifically to study animal sciences. She works with wildlife rehabilitation centers or animal rescues throughout the town and donates to them. Tucker ends up at Star City University studying engineering with a minor in history, taking up a part time job to help manage the uni's computer labs.

So far ever since the new epic musical album came up I've been seeing a lot more people come up with the idea of the god games but Danny Phantom

And I was just imagining how funny if in that song Dan was Aphrodite and Danielle was Aries

I'm about to get more as Danielle being a goddess of trickery and chaos of all types and can being considered to be three-faced like having like a three-faced mask that she wears around a lot and using her ability to melt as a way to appear behind people vastly without them noticing and she's really protective over Dan since she considers herself to be his older sibling because in her opinion he came in the family last

Dan being the ancient of love being so terrifying because love can also be considered to be a scary thing with his symbol being eagles and stuff and he is much more terrifying and violated the most people expect from the god of love but also when he needs to be complete and loving

I imagine Tucker taking up the sense of being Apollo with him being The reincarnation of an old pharaoh they're kind of being like a lots of Egyptian things around him but also like a theme of more technologically advanced with him working on a PDA all kind of having modern clothes on with hints of Egyptian pharaoh

oh and Sam acting like Hephaestus would be more interested in the plant she has in her garden then the heroes her clothes are kind of nature-like invite but also give all of a sense of golfness with like her plant giving off the shape of a large Palace that looks terrifying on the outside but the inside is filled with plants of all types

I imagine Jazz has like a therapist like setting office but like it's a open Greek palace like things of gold and bright blues and just being laid around it looks like an conference room but also like an open Palace I feel like her simple animal being Wolf's and bears would be so funny also be a hint to the little bear plush that she owns

I kind of feel like Danny's level would be a mix of Jazz's and Sam's with Danny's being like an open Palace room that kind of has like the hints of someone young is there with random bean bags being scattered around or miniature handcraft spaceships but also stars all around I feel like it'd be cute if his symbol animal was jellyfish which like jellyfish Stars kind of like float around

But I've just been imagining that song with Danny Phantom x DC I can probably start off with the Justice League like always getting into something this year now than having to deal with the consequence of it and the consequences is six teenagers taking a vote or not to kill them

I am in love with the idea of Dan being Aphrodite and Dani being Ares, especially bc they’re both gods of war. And in EPIC, Aphrodite’s argument is about a mother’s love!! I hope you like the quick sketch of them :3

I don’t agree with a few of your ideas, but they all seem really fun. The idea of the Justice League having to argue against 6 teenagers is funny, bc imagine that they think they can argue against Dani and she just stabs them. Meanwhile, Jazz is like: so how did you feel when you got stabbed? when they come to her later to argue against her.

Actually, I also had thoughts about DP x EPIC, except Sam and Tucker were Odysseus (they shared the role idk) and Danny was Penelope. Jazz was Athena, Dani was Aeolus, and Dan was Scylla 😩

I am of the DPxDC belief/headcanon that any variation of Danny who grew up poor in Gotham during his formative years before moving to Amity Park would not be friends with Sam without friction at first. It makes things more interesting and imo allows for more exploration of different themes plus character growth for Sam that she doesn't really go through in canon.

(this doesn't only apply to a DPDC au where Danny grew up in Gotham poor, but it was the first thing that I thought of where this might happen considering my Childhood Friends au.)

Now Sam's a compassionate girl, it's one of her defining character traits, but so is her hypocrisy and judgy-ness. She's the Not Like Other Girls' girl. This is in part of the show's narrative framing that makes her out like this, unfortunately though its still showing how she is as a character since its consistent enough to be part of her character description. There are also times where the show's depiction of her activism makes it look like she's performative about it. All of this makes her dynamic with a Danny who grew up poor in Gotham very interesting.

Anyways, Sam is aware of her privilege to an extent, but still has her blindspots - glaring ones, in some cases. Her self-righteous attitude would not go over well with a crime alley kid Danny. He'd like her, at first, but then she'd do something to make him mad - personally I think her judging people for not being vegan would annoy him the most, or at least would be the breaking point for him, because it was only recently that his family started actually being able to consistently put food on the table at all, good food nonetheless. And being vegan is expensive.

Any other behavior he noticed from her he'd slowly stop tolerating - her judging conventionally attractive girls and automatically assuming they're vapid and shallow for being feminine. Her anti-capitalist beliefs start coming off as superficial at worst, and Danny would eventually figure out that Sam either came from a family that was well off, or that she wasn't aware if her family was experiencing financial struggle.

He would still be friends with Tucker, but since Tucker imo is still friends with Sam, they'd still run into each other often enough to butt heads. Sam's got a nasty habit of refusing to take responsibility when she's wrong, but when Danny is arguing with her, and counterpointing her with stuff she can't retort back at without compromising her own beliefs, then forces her to start reflecting on herself. Especially when Tucker eventually starts siding with Danny and agreeing with him.

Does sam genuinely care about her beliefs and philosophies? Survey says yes. However that doesn't mean she's not ignorant, and she definitely is at times throughout the show (like when she released the purpleback gorilla thinking it 'wanted out of its enclosure' despite the fact that it was endangered and in an urban area) and I think it'd be a real fascinating dynamic between Danny and Sam to explore.

This isn't Sam hate btw, nor am I trying to make her out like "the worst person ever" bc she's not, i wanna make that explicitly clear. Sam Manson has a lot of positive traits about her but she also has an equal amount of negative traits that I think should be explored, she is not immune to the character development.
