VPN – The Next-Generation
Tumblr media
One of the most rapidly evolving technologies in the field of data security online privacy is the Virtual Private Network (VPN). VPNs have been in existence for many years but are now entering what can be considered their next generation of solutions. These innovative advancements are designed to enhance the capabilities and functionality of VPNs, making them even more secure and effective in protecting user data.
Next-generation VPN solutions build upon the traditional concept of VPNs by incorporating new technologies to further improve privacy, speed, and accessibility. These solutions are being developed to address the increasing need for protection against sophisticated cyber threats and growing concerns surrounding data privacy.
One major development in next-generation VPN solutions is the integration of advanced encryption protocols. Traditional VPNs rely on protocols like Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP) and Layer 2 Forwarding Protocol (L2TP) to establish secure connections. However, next-generation solutions are shifting towards more robust protocols like OpenVPN and IPsec, which offer superior encryption and authentication mechanisms. These protocols ensure that user data remains encrypted and protected from unauthorized access while in transit.
Tumblr media
Another crucial aspect of next-generation VPNs is the inclusion of advanced security features. These features often include multi-factor authentication, intrusion detection systems, and malware protection. By implementing these additional layers of security, next-generation VPN solutions provide users with an added level of assurance that their online activities are safeguarded against potential threats.
Next-generation VPNs also aim to address concerns related to speed and performance. Traditionally, VPNs have been associated with reduced internet speeds due to the encryption and routing processes involved. However, new technologies such as Split Tunneling and WireGuard are being integrated into VPN solutions to mitigate these issues. Split Tunneling allows users to selectively route internet traffic through the VPN, enabling faster browsing speeds for non-sensitive activities. WireGuard, on the other hand, is a lightweight encryption protocol that offers faster connectivity and improved performance.
Moreover, next-generation VPN solutions are focusing on increased accessibility and ease of use. This means developing intuitive and user-friendly software interfaces that make setting up and managing VPN connections simpler for individuals with limited technical expertise. Additionally, the proliferation of VPN apps for various devices and operating systems ensures that users can access VPN services across a wide range of platforms, including desktops, laptops, smartphones, and tablets.
Tumblr media
In conclusion, next-generation VPN solutions are integrating new technologies to provide enhanced privacy, security, speed, and accessibility.
With advanced encryption protocols, improved security features, and innovative performance enhancements, these next-gen VPNs are poised to offer users a superior level of data protection in an increasingly interconnected world. As cyber threats evolve, the constant evolution of VPN technology remains crucial in ensuring the privacy and security of online communications.

Creating Compelling Character Arcs: A Guide for Fiction Writers
As writers, one of our most important jobs is to craft characters that feel fully realized and three-dimensional. Great characters aren't just names on a page — they're complex beings with arcs that take them on profound journeys of change and growth. A compelling character arc can make the difference between a forgettable story and one that sticks with readers long after they've turned the final page.
Today, I'm going to walk you through the art of crafting character arcs that are as rich and multi-layered as the people you encounter in real life. Whether you're a first-time novelist or a seasoned storyteller, this guide will give you the tools to create character journeys that are equal parts meaningful and unforgettable.
What Is a Character Arc?
Before we go any further, let's make sure we're all on the same page about what a character arc actually is. In the most basic sense, a character arc refers to the internal journey a character undergoes over the course of a story. It's the path they travel, the obstacles they face, and the ways in which their beliefs, mindsets, and core selves evolve through the events of the narrative.
A character arc isn't just about what happens to a character on the outside. Sure, external conflict and plot developments play a major role — but the real meat of a character arc lies in how those external forces shape the character's internal landscape. Do their ideals get shattered? Is their worldview permanently altered? Do they have to confront harsh truths about themselves in order to grow?
The most resonant character arcs dig deep into these universal human experiences of struggle, self-discovery, and change. They mirror the journeys we all go through in our own lives, making characters feel powerfully relatable even in the most imaginative settings.
The Anatomy of an Effective Character Arc
Now that we understand what character arcs are, how do we actually construct one that feels authentic and impactful? Let's break down the key components:
The Inciting Incident
Every great character arc begins with a spark — something that disrupts the status quo of the character's life and sets them on an unexpected path. This inciting incident can take countless forms, be it the death of a loved one, a sudden loss of power or status, an epic betrayal, or a long-held dream finally becoming attainable.
Whatever shape it takes, the inciting incident needs to really shake the character's foundations and push them in a direction they wouldn't have gone otherwise. It opens up new struggles, questions, and internal conflicts that they'll have to grapple with over the course of the story.
Lies They Believe
Tied closely to the inciting incident are the core lies or limiting beliefs that have been holding your character back. Perhaps they've internalized society's body image expectations and believe they're unlovable. Maybe they grew up in poverty and are convinced that they'll never be able to escape that cyclical struggle.
Whatever these lies are, they'll inform how your character reacts and responds to the inciting incident. Their ingrained perceptions about themselves and the world will directly color their choices and emotional journeys — and the more visceral and specific these lies feel, the more compelling opportunities for growth your character will have.
The Struggle
With the stage set by the inciting incident and their deeply-held lies exposed, your character will then have to navigate a profound inner struggle that stems from this setup. This is where the real meat of the character arc takes place as they encounter obstacles, crises of faith, moral dilemmas, and other pivotal moments that start to reshape their core sense of self.
Importantly, this struggle shouldn't be a straight line from Point A to Point B. Just like in real life, people tend to take a messy, non-linear path when it comes to overcoming their limiting mindsets. They'll make progress, backslide into old habits, gain new awareness, then repeat the cycle. Mirroring this meandering but ever-deepening evolution is what makes a character arc feel authentic and relatable.
Moments of Truth
As your character wrestles with their internal demons and existential questions, you'll want to include potent Moments of Truth that shake them to their core. These are the climactic instances where they're forced to finally confront the lies they believe head-on. It could be a painful conversation that shatters their perception of someone they trusted. Or perhaps they realize the fatal flaw in their own logic after hitting a point of no return.
These Moments of Truth pack a visceral punch that catalyzes profound realizations within your character. They're the litmus tests where your protagonist either rises to the occasion and starts radically changing their mindset — or they fail, downing further into delusion or avoiding the insights they need to undergo a full transformation.
The Resolution
After enduring the long, tangled journey of their character arc, your protagonist will ideally arrive at a resolution that feels deeply cathartic and well-earned. This is where all of their struggle pays off and we see them evolve into a fundamentally different version of themselves, leaving their old limiting beliefs behind.
A successfully crafted resolution in a character arc shouldn't just arrive out of nowhere — it should feel completely organic based on everything they've experienced over the course of their thematic journey. We should be able to look back and see how all of the challenges they surmounted ultimately reshaped their perspective and led them to this new awakening. And while not every character needs to find total fulfillment, for an arc to feel truly complete, there needs to be a definitive sense that their internal struggle has reached a meaningful culmination.
Tips for Crafting Resonant Character Arcs
I know that was a lot of ground to cover, so let's recap a few key pointers to keep in mind as you start mapping out your own character's trajectories:
Get Specific With Backstory
To build a robust character arc, a deep understanding of your protagonist's backstory and psychology is indispensable. What childhood wounds do they carry? What belief systems were instilled in them from a young age? The more thoroughly you flesh out their history and inner workings, the more natural their arc will feel.
Strive For Nuance
One of the biggest pitfalls to avoid with character arcs is resorting to oversimplified clichés or unrealistic "redemption" stories. People are endlessly complex — your character's evolution should reflect that intricate messiness and nuance to feel grounded. Embrace moral grays, contradictions, and partial awakenings that upend expectations.
Make the External Match the Internal
While a character arc hinges on interior experiences, it's also crucial that the external plot events actively play a role in driving this inner journey. The inciting incident, the obstacles they face, the climactic Moments of Truth — all of these exterior occurrences should serve as narrative engines that force your character to continually reckon with themselves.
Dig Into Your Own Experiences
Finally, the best way to instill true authenticity into your character arcs is to draw deeply from the personal transformations you've gone through yourself. We all carry with us the scars, growth, and shattered illusions of our real-life arcs — use that raw honesty as fertile soil to birth characters whose journeys will resonate on a soulful level.

How to develop the enemies to lovers trope effectively
I wonder why I didn't write this post sooner. The enemies to lovers trope is so fascinating! I think I love it from now!
Establish Strong Conflict: Create a compelling and believable conflict between the characters that sets them up as enemies. This conflict can be based on opposing goals, ideologies, or personal histories. The more intense and fundamental the conflict, the more satisfying the resolution will be.
Show Layers and Complexity: Develop multi-dimensional characters with depth and complexity. Avoid one-dimensional stereotypes and explore the reasons behind their animosity. Give each character strengths, vulnerabilities, and compelling motivations that contribute to their dynamic.
Gradual Shift in Dynamics: Allow the transition from enemies to lovers to happen gradually. Start by depicting intense clashes and heated interactions, gradually revealing glimpses of vulnerability or shared experiences that challenge their initial perceptions of each other. Show subtle shifts in their interactions and emotions over time.
Moments of Connection: Create opportunities for the characters to have genuine moments of connection or understanding, even amidst their conflicts. These moments can be brief and subtle, such as a shared joke or a moment of empathy. These small sparks of connection build the foundation for their evolving relationship.
Forced Proximity or Collaboration: Place the characters in situations that force them to spend time together or collaborate on a common goal. This could be a mission, a project, or a circumstance that necessitates their cooperation. Develop shared goals or a common cause that forces the characters to work together despite their differences. As they face obstacles and make sacrifices for the greater good, their bond strengthens, blurring the lines between enemies and allies. Proximity also allows them to see beyond their initial prejudices and discover shared values or unexpected qualities in each other.
Natural Development of Chemistry: Develop a slow burn in the characters' romantic feelings. Craft witty and engaging dialogue between the characters. Use banter, verbal sparring, and playful teasing to create chemistry and showcase their evolving relationship. Allow their emotions to evolve naturally. The chemistry between them should build gradually, fueled by their changing perceptions and shared experiences.
Internal Conflict: Explore the characters' internal conflict as they navigate their shifting feelings. They may struggle with their attraction, question their loyalties, or wrestle with the fear of vulnerability. Internal conflicts add depth to their journey and make the resolution more satisfying.
Growth and Change: Show personal growth and development in both characters as they navigate their shifting relationship. They should evolve beyond their initial roles as enemies, confronting their flaws, and challenging their beliefs. This growth is crucial for a believable and satisfying transition from enemies to lovers.
Mutual Influence: Demonstrate how the characters influence each other positively. Through their interactions, they should inspire growth, self-reflection, and change. Each character should have a transformative impact on the other.
Authentic Resolution: Ensure that the resolution of their conflict feels authentic and earned. The characters should confront and address the issues that initially made them enemies, finding common ground and genuine understanding. Their resolution should be based on mutual respect, trust, and a genuine emotional connection.
Vulnerability and Emotional Depth: Explore the characters' vulnerabilities and emotional depth as their relationship evolves. Allow them to gradually open up to each other, sharing their fears, dreams, and past traumas. This vulnerability creates an emotional bond and deepens their connection.
Conflicting Loyalties: Introduce conflicts of loyalty that challenge the characters' evolving relationship. They may have allegiances to different groups or individuals that complicate their feelings. This internal struggle adds complexity and raises the stakes for their choices.
Remember, the enemies to lovers trope is most effective when it is supported by strong character development, realistic conflicts, and a gradual evolution of emotions. And don't forget to maintain a balance between conflict and romance, allowing the characters to evolve while staying true to their unique personalities and circumstances.

Being a polite and charming lady at the useless desk jobs on chitinid earth and she gets a notification that she is being given an ambassador role. She thinks “finally something useful I can do!” but surprise! The ambassador role? Yeah it is dressing up in a skimpy outfit and being someone's pet. A population of humans, similar to a small country, is being given to a different alien species as a trade agreement. She is given to their emperor as icing on the cake. At this moment she is internally panicking because while Chitinids don't eat intelligent life this species does (she witnesses it). She is at least good at buttering people up. Fear fucking, giving body worship, and giving praise on this one.

CWs: Minor gore; dubcon; sex with an audience; size difference; oral sex;
#####################################
You'd only received a memo from central governance once before. Just after the Chitinids won the war, to inform you of your new position at a former law firm. It's not like your life was awful now, you didn't need to worry about rent, or losing your job. Quarterly reviews were still a thing, but only to preserve the "authentic" Human culture for academic study. In reality they were just you and your manager discussing metrics that didn't matter, setting meaningless goals, then filling out a meaningless spreadsheet. Considering you worked data entry for a slightly scummy ad agency before the sixty minute war, this was almost a welcome change. Still the same drudgery, but minus the precarity of potentially being automated out of a job. It could have been a lot worse, but what's the point of belonging to a sprawling star empire if you live out your days on Earth?
So you put in an application to move offworld. You had enough presence of mind to request not to be put into agricultural work, knowing precisely the role human women played on a Chitinid farm. Maybe some people were into that, you'd heard of one guy who ended up on reality TV doing it, but being a dairy cow wasn't entirely your speed. Months passed, and you heard nothing. Just the usual humdrum of emails, reheated nutrient blocks, and omnipresent gunship patrols. Then it arrived.
An item in your "in" tray. Not an email, an honest to god letter, sealed with a crimson ribbon and a blob of wax. It felt good in your hand. The paper was thick and weighty, the ribbon was smooth and felt like it might be actual silk. You cracked the seal and read the neatly typed message. You'd been appointed as part of a diplomatic attaché, to travel to the capital of a nearby pre-FTL civilization and extoll to them the benefits of joining the Chitinids. You'd be picked up from a spaceport in what used to be Heathrow in a week. No need to pack, you weren't being allowed to bring any personal effects with you. Not that you really cared about the collection of tat you'd accumulated with your government mandated paycheck. You were just excited to finally be leaving the ball of dirt you'd lived on.
Before you knew it, you were in orbit. Shuttled up to an interchange station from Heathrow, then moved onto a pleasure yacht escorted by corvettes. A sleek, glimmering civilian craft flanked on all sides by menacing, spiky warships, bristling with armaments. A human attendant issued you all with clothing appropriate for your postings, as well as datapads containing assignment dossiers. You and about twelve others were to be sent to another world. The geographic brief indicated the planet was warmer than Earth by a few degrees, and more arid. Which explained the clothes. Flowing linens dyed in purples and reds, edged with gold. You dressed in your quarters, getting out of the governance-approved pantsuit and into your new robes. You looked resplendent in the robes, long and flowing, multi-layered and decadent. You knew you were a walking propaganda piece, tailored to show wealth and opulence, but damn if you didn't almost believe it yourself.
A chattering came across the intercom. A gentle knock came at your door a moment later "Jumping to Witchspace in five minutes, you might want to hold onto something if it's your first time"
Witchspace. You'd read about the altered reality used by Chitinids to accelerate faster than light, crossing lightyears in hours. It didn't bother them, but it was... Interesting for humans. You sat on your bed, expecting the worst. Rhythmic chattering crackled across the speakers. A countdown. You braced yourself, clinging to the mattress. You felt the jump. It was like being turned upside down and punched in the gut, except without the pain. A queasy feeling, like you'd drank far too much the night before and woke up still drunk, unable to tell if you're going to spend the morning vomiting or not.
Then it passed. A feeling like a headache in reverse came over you as the ship's normality fields kicked in, shrouding the vessel in a thin film of realspace, coasting through unreality at several thousand times the speed of light. It defied everything Human physics thought it knew about, well, physics, but it worked. The secrets to the drives were closely guarded to prevent any unauthorized FTL travel, but no information seal is perfect, and everyone knew it was only a matter of time. Maybe that's why there aren't any teachers any more, just legions of office drones, cattle, and pets.
You shuddered at the thought. Pets. In a way that's what you're going to be. Except instead of a Chitinid master, you'd be putting on airs for whatever the native population of this new world would be. You checked your dossier again. The planet was called Suum, apparently they'd had their own Alexander the Great a decade or so ago, but instead of dying of disease, he'd had chance to consolidate power and groom an heir who finished the work of world conquest. Now his successor was on the throne, a powerful god-king whom you would be personal attache to. For now, you stretched out on your bed, trying to catch what sleep you could before your new life.
You slept fitfully. The humming engine and the strange sensations of Witchspace travel, combined with the uncertainty of your future kept you tossing and turning. Even after you'd shed your new clothing, you couldn't sleep properly. You were already awake when a chattered phrase came over the intercom again, you'd guessed what it meant before the knock came at your door. Imminently dropping back to realspace. You dressed and went to the viewing gantry. A dozen of you, all dressed similarly. One moment you were gazing out as the light purple of Witchspace, the next the gate was behind you, you jolted back into reality like jumping into a swimming pool. Your bubble of normal causality merging with the stock-standard three dimensions you were accustomed to.
The planet lurked below you. A dustball, tan brown instead of green, a single huge continent rather than several, a great ocean covering well over half the surface of the world. The usher from before led your group to a shuttle, a shining golden needle-shaped vessel that you all filed into, sitting down and strapping yourselves in. For how sleek the exterior of the ship was, inside it was little more than a dropship, exactly large enough for you all to cram inside. The usher waved you off as you left the hangar, going into orbit before the shuddering re-entry. A moment later the vessel landed, the door opened and you filed out.
The Chitinids have been busy here. The spaceport wasn't as sophisticated as Heathrow, but it looked sufficient for the needle you were riding. Four armed Chitinids flanked your group, escorting you from the ship through the town. The market was in full swing, and you caught your first glimpse of the aliens who called this place home. They were pretty universally tall, and heavily muscled. Greyish skin, the colour of light stone, and two sets of arms. They bartered and shouted over the crowd, though what they were bargaining for sent a shiver up your spine.
Body parts. Human limbs mainly, though you're sure you'd seen a heart changing hands. You blanched, you'd not considered the possibility of becoming lunch for your hosts.
Stills the guards marched you on, through the city, into a palace where the lead gave a chattering speech to the assembled aliens. The largest, a hulking figure twice the size of the others, looked unimpressed, but kept a polite silence while the Chitinid spoke. Once the formalities were dealt with you were pointed to your assignments, though you didn't need to be directed. You could see which one of them fit the description you'd got from the dossier. Yours was the big one.
He displayed you like a prize. You didn't speak the local language, and you weren't sure if any of them spoke yours. You doubted it. At least none of them looked like they were eying you up for the main course. You avoided meat at dinner time, though there wasn't much else on the menu until someone noticed and gave you a chunk of coarse bread.
At last, night started to fall. The men took seats as more people entered the room. You noticed they were all dressed like you, flowing silks in purples and reds, edged with gold. They carried ewers, settling behind courtiers and starting to oil and massage their muscular shoulders. You looked around a moment before another servant gave you a similar jug. Taking some of the strong-smelling oil on your hands, you began to rub at the emperor's shoulders.
Your mind raced with questions: do these people really eat humans? Why are the Chitinids looking to convince them to join rather than just swooping in with gunships like on Earth? Were you really just to be a concubine?
The emperor answered your last question for you. He twisted in his seat, grabbing you and pulling you into his lap. The instruction was clear, whether or not you could understand the words. You pulled down his waistband, revealing his cock. He wasn't hard yet, but it was already as long and as thick as your forearm. You looked up at him a moment, before he pushed you back down with a grunt. Another courtier called out something, drawing a laugh from the huge one with his hand on your back. Your oily hands slid over the skin of his cock, feeling it harden in your grasp.
You took your time, hoping he wasn't going to try and stuff this monster inside you. Every stroke, every twist of your wrist caused it to thicken and throb. He was still holding you down, leaning you over one of his legs as you worked over it. You glanced around, the other concubines were doing similar with the others. The formalities of holding imperial court gone, replaced by the brewings of an orgy. Seeing everyone else doing the same thing made you a little bolder. You still didn't want to try and negotiate putting that thing up you, but the self-consciousness was gone.
You relaxed your shoulders, getting into a stride of jacking him off, feeling the length of him, finding the parts that made him groan when you played with them. For an alien species from across the stars, he worked a lot like the human men you'd been with. His tip seemed very sensitive, and he definitely liked it when you played with the ridge where it joined his shaft. Your other hand drew down to the base of it, cupping his balls. You smiled, of course he had four of those too. You rolled them around, listening to his deep breathing as you edged him.
You had an idea, rolling yourself over his leg so you knelt between them. Here you could see all of him, towering over you. You held onto his cock while you kissed his balls, licking and sucking the soft skin, slick with the oils you'd applied to him.
He was groaning now, restless in his seat. You could feel dozens of pairs of eyes on you as you went, jacking him off with your face nestled at the base of his cock. Maybe this was some great social faux pas? Oh well, you're here to do some cultural exchange, and you've never had a man complain about this back on Earth.
You could feel his balls tightening, He was trying to control his hips bucking. The cock in your hands was twitching and a thin stream of precum was flowing over your hands.
You knew just how to finish him. You straightened up. The huge cock pointed at you, curving towards you. The tip was already right where you wanted it. You opened your mouth and took the end of his cock inside you, filling your mouth with just the end, forcing your jaw open wide to accommodate it. You leant over him, baring your tits and rubbing them against either side of his cock while he leaked in your mouth. Your tongue flicked against the underside of his head. He grabbed the back of your head, holding you in place as he grunted, pushing you to the edge of your gag reflex.
You grabbed his balls, holding onto them as you felt them clench. Thick cum filled your mouth, leaking out of the sides of your mouth as you struggled to swallow it all. more and more pumped into you, you gave up trying to gulp it down, instead feeling it flow out of you.
He softened in your mouth and let go, letting you pull back from him and wipe your face. A servant brought you a goblet of something smelling like wine. The other members of the emperor's court were pointing at you, instructing their concubines.
You might not understand the lingo yet, but you'd waited enough tables in your life to understand "I'll have what he's having"
###########################################
At long last! The story that's been 3 sessions of writing, rewriting, editing, re-editing, I'm not refactoring it again so have fun with it, take it as it is and I wash my damn hands of it.

Severence Ramblings...
I had been holding out on Severance because the hype scared me. I was worried I wouldn’t like it, and as a huge fan of Adam Scott, I didn’t want to take that chance.
I was so wrong to hesitate—Severance is easily one of the best shows I’ve seen in a while. It builds a multi-layered dystopian world that explores capitalism’s relationship with labor, thought autonomy, and power dynamics. And it does all of this with plain good storytelling—an intriguing setup, well-developed characters with their own arcs, and even a romantic core.
Tumblr media
Not only does the show divide its main characters into innie and outie profiles, but it also makes the audience question which side they’re rooting for, almost splitting our own thoughts in two. I love that the show keeps their personalities consistent on both sides, which is why Helly R is so fascinating. Her innie seems more authentic, while Helena is clearly subduing anything decent in herself to please her father and stay true to the Kier ideology.
Anyway, after Season 1 set everything up, we need some resolutions. I’ve loved every single thing about Season 2, even with its many WTF IS GOING ON moments. Episodes 7 and 8 were crucial in unraveling some of Lumon’s origins. At this point, it’s safe to say—there is nothing redeeming about this corporation. I think they’re setting up a redemption arc for Ms. Cobel, who feels like every scientist whose discovery was weaponized.
Tumblr media
With only two episodes left, I’m think we’re either heading toward a severed rebellion or Gemma’s rescue (please!). What I don’t want is another cliffhanger. I want answers.
What is the ultimate goal of the scientific experiments on Gemma? Are we looking at severed workforce en masse? What is happening in the rest of the world? Will Helena Eagan fall on the side of the innies? Can the characters integrate organically ? What was Irving searching for and what did he find?

Tumblr media
Montivilliers (just outside Le Havre), September 1939
A nervous energy ripples through your limbs as the four others leave, traipsing across the garden to the neighbouring cottage, leaving you and your new husband alone. Still waving awkwardly from the patio as they all disappear from view. A chill passes through you, just noticing how cold the night air is, autumn drawing in and without the warmth of Benedict holding you in some way, as he has been the past few hours. You startle slightly as he interrupts your reverie by chivalrously wrapping the faux fur stole around your shoulders.
“It’s my something borrowed,” you blurt, unsure what else to say.
“Eloise?”
You just nod, too nervous all of a sudden to look up at him.
“Let’s get inside,” he suggests, observing even the extra layer does not halt your shiver, gesturing to the kitchen door.
You walk awkwardly past, catching a whiff of his delicious scent that you woke up to this morning, the involuntary urge to sway into him intense.
You drift to the living room, Benedict wandering to the gramophone, putting on a mellow jazz record before taking a seat; part of you sad he chooses the armchair, not the sofa beside you.
“Well… that was a day,” he understates in his usual affable manner.
“I don’t know how I can ever thank you,” you respond earnestly, looking down at the simple band on your finger by reflex. “It’s all thanks to you that I have a chance to escape while I still can.”
“You would have done the same for me,” he demures with a quiet certainty that makes you yearn to touch him.
Instead, you exchange slightly awkward smiles, the mantlepiece clock ticking sounding so loud, even with the music playing.
“And I'm sure you will get home one day,” he assures. “Your family, I'm certain, miss you… and... And your fiancee,” the reluctance in his words evident.
“I’m not sure a married woman can have a fiancé anymore,” you remark; the lash of guilt every time Stanley’s name is invoked lessening with every moment you spend alone with Benedict.
“You can once you are a single woman again, as soon as you are safe,” he counters softly, so altruistic in his manner your throat almost itching with unspent words—a want to yell. No! Fight for me! I want you more than I ever will want him!!
“You yourself said on the train that perhaps there is something better out there for me,” you respond cautiously. “The longer this adventure runs, the more certain I am of that.”
His mien is profound as you finally raise your eyes to his, wanting so much to say more but feeling too tongue-tied and cowardly to be that selfish, to declare he is what you want.
He shakes himself a little and leans back into the armchair as if resetting himself and the line of conversation. Like he senses the mutual danger lurking there.
“Tomorrow, when we sail… they will likely notice the date on our marriage certificate,” Benedict counsels gently. “That may raise flags about the authenticity of our union.”
“What can we do to assuage them?”
“Come up with a plausible story. Be physically affectionate. They may ask no questions, or they may ask as many as they wish,” he warns, “especially of you. They may ask you about…” Benedict pauses, his face flushing a little, “… intimate matters. They have every right to ask if the marriage has been consummated.”
You feel yourself flashing hot as he says it. “I should lie?” you whisper.
“You should say whatever you think will make them believe we are a real couple,” he obfuscates.
“I’m a terrible liar…” you confess, blushing when you realise your words could be interpreted as an invitation to be intimate. And on this, your wedding night.
His gaze is heavy. “You can do it y/n. Your freedom and safety may depend on your ability to convince them you love me... And I you.”
I think I might, your mind screams.
“I know… I… think I can do it,” you falter, replaying every kiss you have shared. “We seem to have done a great job convincing Jerome and Marie…”
“They are not looking to see artifice,” he counters. “British soldiers will be.”
“Sh… should we practice?” It’s out of your mouth before you can stop it, champagne again taking your tongue, a deep flush spreading over your skin as you realise it.
“Y… yes, I think maybe we should,” he agrees very quickly.
He stands somewhat awkward, peeling off his jacket and rolling up his shirt sleeves, leaving his waistcoat. You find yourself again mesmerised by him, as you were that night in Paris, wanting to run your hands over the flex in his arm muscles. In fact, you are so distracted you don’t even realise he is proffering you a hand out of the chair. You spring up to your feet without his help, the idea of touching him right now entirely too distracting, which seems to amuse him briefly before his expression turns sincere.
“We have kissed, but not as lovers, as married people would. We... we may need to do so, casually, of course, within sight of those allowing boarding,” he opines, even as your heart speeds up, realising what he is saying.
“You think we need to… practice more kissing? Now?” you are mildly annoyed by how stupefied you sound.
“Yes,” he confirms, drawing closer, “passionate, real kissing.”
You are looking up into blue eyes and a gorgeous face as fingertips loop around your wrist as if checking your pulse.
“Grab my wrist if you want me to stop,” he tutors softly, so gentlemanly in his approach, even as you fret that he can feel your heart rate hammering hard in your veins.
Once again, time is in slow motion as his lips descend. At first, the kiss is breathtaking but still chaste, like previously. But then there is a noise in the back of his throat that makes the hairs on the nape of your neck stand on end; his lips part yours, a wave of damp heat as the kiss deepens. His tongue swipes yours tentatively, a tease before you mirror his moves. He tastes of champagne and something else that is entirely him, an impulse to bite the inside of his cheek. And then it’s abruptly fervent, wanton - like a dam has broken - his hands gripping the crest of your hip bones, each finger an insistent dig into your flesh.
Finally, given the permission, you don't hold back. Pushing into him, one hand grasping the buckled loop at the back of his waistcoat that cinches it to his slim form, the other winding around his sturdy neck, encouraging him to lean down further, take from you. The kiss seems never-ending, a rolling wave of to and fro, a dance not unlike the one in the square just last night. Those fireworks still explode, but this time, it feels like those ones that are so powerful they knock a punch to your solar plexus, a ricochet you feel physically,
His hands slide up your back, a sensual drag that makes you moan into his mouth, a noise he greedily swallows. But he stops as they reach the faux fur wrapped around your shoulders and reluctantly breaks the kiss.
“Please, take this off,” he implores, “I cannot do this with you wearing my sister's clothing,” he points out with a cringe that creases his face charmingly.
Your responding giggle causes him to break into a lopsided grin, and wordlessly, you untie it as he watches, pupils blown. When you push it back off your shoulders, it hits the rug behind you with a soft whump, and your instinct takes over, rocking onto your tiptoes, one hand sliding into the lush hair at the back of his head and bringing his face back to yours.
The minute your mouth opens to his, you are heavy and weightless all at once, not unlike that wooden roller coaster on Coney Island that made you see stars. Your nails flex on his scalp as his hands slide over your dress, looping low around your hips, tugging you snugly into his body as your tongues tangle.
This.
This must be what the girls whisper about—a tart metallic boiling in your blood, a heavy tug deep inside your pelvis that needs relief. A wanting so physical it almost hurts, a hunger that makes you feel reckless, liable to behaviour you could never justify, a pure carnal caprice. But all too soon, he is pulling back, a need to breathe, even as he does so inches from your face, his eyes locked on yours as they flutter open.
“Again,” you murmur, uncaring how gossamer thin your excuse is, just wanting more.
His eyes are glittering as he complies. Kissing like a wild storm now, hands hot through the thin, cool silk fabric. And you cannot stop the noises you make, shameless and breathy, right into his open, wet, questing mouth. Pressing hard against his body, a solid warmth in his trousers promising things you need so badly you crave to curl around him, open yourself to him.
You have never felt this before. A tingle under your scalp that vibrates all the way down to your toes. A want to take and be taken. To bite and be bitten. To ride and be ridden. For him to rip your dress from your body and throw you onto the sofa—a yen that feels not entirely human and definitely not civilised.
It's like he senses your thoughts have slid somewhere wild, or perhaps his have too, as when he pulls back, he is panting, and there is a quaking in his entire being like he is crackling with energy.
“Please. Go.” His voice is ragged, deep, almost wrecked. “Please. I… I can’t do this anymore,” his voice cracks a look that is at once hungry, aching, and barely contained restraint.
Please don't be a gentleman now, Benedict. Please. No. God. Not now. Don’t.
“I’m s…sorry,” you stutter, feeling guilty you have pushed it too far but utterly unmoored by the searing passion and the sting of his rejection, albeit reluctant.
Even you can see the war in his being, physical desire being muzzled by the gentleman he was clearly raised to be. Knowing if you stand here much longer, something will happen that one or both of you will regret. Your wedding ring seems to burn your skin as you turn around and shrink away, leaving the room, not daring to look back, knowing he has also turned away with ragged breaths.
As you climb the stairs, feet feeling leaden, your body in utter turmoil, you hear the discordant scratch of the gramophone being halted. You undress in a daze, swearing you can still feel the heat of his handprints through the silk of your dress. Climbing into the bed approaching numb, champagne swirling unease in your gut with all the rich foods, an oily disquiet that means it takes ages to settle.
You lay there fitfully for what feels like hours, tossing and turning, picking over the minutiae of every moment with Benedict - tonight and all the nights and days before. Seeing possible signs that make your heart clench.
Could it be that he is not doing this all for show?
It's a seizing thought that catalyses your body: it has you up on your feet and rushing down the stairs in your nightgown, breathless and stumbling. But when you round the corner into the living room, all your courage to declare it is sapped by the sight of Benedict sleeping, curled slightly, looking smaller somehow, his back turned to you, face buried into the back cushion of the sofa.
Instead, you back away, padding to the kitchen to take a glass of water, hoping the hydration will stave off the worst of a hangover; the water is a relief to the tumultuous, racing feeling as you stand on the large slab of earthen tile gleaming in the moonlight, cold underfoot. You pour another glass for him without thought.
Tiptoeing back into the living room, careful not to wake him, you crouch beside him to leave the glass of water within easy sight and reach should he stir. But you find yourself unable to leave without saying something. The temptation to confess to his unconscious self is impossible to resist, the grip on your own glass so tight.
“I’ll never be able to repay you,” you murmur to his back, fingers itching to trace over the bare skin of his shoulder blades where they peak out of the blanket. “For this unbelievable act of kindness and generosity. And yet… god, this is so selfish,” you flick your eyes up to the ceiling to stem a tear you feel gathering, “… still I’m greedy. Always wanting more. Wanting…. Wanting to never return to my old life. Wanting to run away. Wanting this… Wanting this to be real.”
The last phrase is barely audible, but still, you are instantly horrified that you confessed it out loud, even to his unconscious, sleeping frame. And you know you must leave.
God, what is wrong with me? What is this? Temporary insanity? Too much alcohol, a fake wedding and an impending war are not a good recipe…
It’s a silent internal lament as you stand up and withdraw, self-chastisement echoing so loud in your head. And yet, you can't resist a parting sentence from the doorway.
“Goodnight, Benedict, you are truly the very best of men...”
What you don’t see as you slowly climb back up the creaking wooden stairs is Benedict’s eyes blazing open, a look of utter astonishment claiming his face as he twists around and stares at the doorway you left by, his chest rising and falling rapidly.
He was never asleep.
And he heard every single word.

Hi there!
Your blog is gradually becoming one of my favorite, it’s always being though. The break you had then came back fired up. The energy is great and your wizard friend giving us fresh insights and widening our perspective to the whole shenanigans.
We’ve all suspected things like this, that’s why must of the die hard lukola fans still are very much around and called delusional. The Scorpio in me after reading all these can never see anything coming from L, N and friends shows as face value ANYMORE! Infact my antenna has just been repositioned and my hyper fixation just gone to a 100.😌😩
Thank you for the kind words! Yes, some of you have probably noticed I have had a lot of things to say and I'm a bit fired up 😅 I think it's just really important for us to use our critical thinking skills when consuming any information, doing our own research, and zooming out and looking at the larger systems that are at play here. And while not everything is manipulated, a lot of it is in the celebrity industry.
And I think the reason we all fell in love with L&N is because of how relatable, genuine, and authentic they seemed. And I think that IS who they are, but the industry and machine is the complete opposite of all that. And the Wizard has helped me realize that, and brought back a lot of joy I use to have around these two because I started to realize that the last 10 months of multi-layered curated BS was a lot bigger than just L&N. And I feel like once they have the ability to, they will start carving out their more authentic place in this industry and reclaiming their voices in the noise of the machine. And I think they may be very minimally starting to set the stage for that...

That post was a little mean and I didn’t mean it to be, but I think it’s important for you guys to not think you need to embody a specific niche to a T. You are your own person, a multi dimensional being, and it’s okay to do what feels natural and good to you. You can incorporate things from different niches. That is being authentically you. And that’s what is going to make you unique and special. Life is all about growing and learning. You won’t be the same person for ever and you shouldn’t aim to be. All you can do is try to be the best person you are, through every layer of your evolution.
Pretending to be something you’re not, will always be obvious to the people who authentically are who you’re pretending to be. I promise you it won’t get you very far.

hello! I am new in kpop and i am starting to accompany enhypen, bts and IVE. They overall are good people?Because i don´t want stan bad people persona in behing camera ik. What cards say?
I asked about the members' overall personality (whether it's good or bad).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
most likely to be nice
ive's jiwon (liz): the devil rx
might be the most nice out of all of the mentioned members in these 3 groups. she tries to show the most authentic side of herself - the good and bad. to me she's first because i appreciate the raw side more than anything. liz tries to be really pure with dives and her solo stans, so i can feel whatever she shows is genuine.
bts' jung kook: 6 of pentacles rx + 10 of cups
to me he is possibly the second most nice person out of these 3 groups, i feel so. jungkook is helping other people, sometimes even more than needed. this might make jungkook more naive than he really is like, but he actually loves to do that. he's very optimistic boy, very happy, there's only positive things i can see and feel. like i said before, a total sunshine. to you, he might be the most nice out of the members of these 3 groups.
enhypen's jungwon: 2 of cups
very communicative with people, he loves to get close with his audience and he actually cares for engene and not only them. it feels like he's someone who's willing to help even if he cannot to do it.
bts' yoongi (suga/agust d): knight of pentacles
very determinated to work what he loves! despite everything he's been through, suga loves to do music, beats and these things that are related to his idol job. suga is working for the feeling of the hobby itself and to him is pure admiration of the job itself. it makes him happy and if army and his solo stans are happy, like his work and so on, he'll be even happier. he lives for the job, it makes him happy and feel that there's purpose for his life. (compared to other people, i see suga has changed quite a lot and has grown up as a person. he'll do the same with his friendships and not only, the relationships with people)
bts' jimin: page of pentacles
he is pretty much a perfectionist. jimin's intentions to everyone are purely good but he tries to have the perfect friendships and etc. with people which sometimes isn't good because sometimes we have to get into any hardships. jimin seems to have this perfectionism as a habit. overall the vibes i am sensing are good but he has some traits that are hard to change.
bts' seokjin (jin): 2 of wands
since he got out of military recently, i see he tries to adapt. jin also seems really nice person, like without a doubt, but he has hard time with adapting and re-adapting. since i feel his thoughts rather than is he good or not, jin might not know either not because he did something but rather than the environment in hybe has changed too rapidly. jin seems to not be used into the corporation as it is nowadays.
enhypen's jake: page of cups
compared to jungkook, jake is also a bit naive. he might be a fool at times, but i sense he's not that experienced in real life for some reason. he might be introverted in some aspects and even have issues to communicate properly, but he's not as bad as some people might think. he's really nice person and might sometimes look like a lost puppy, but once you "get to know him", he's not that bad.
enhypen's sunwoo (sunoo): 5 of wands rx
also nice boy but doesn't like arguments. sunoo's very chill and hates quarrels. he'd prefer to either not take a side or give something to someone else just to not hear screams and feel bad. i am not sure if it's related to how he grew up in his family, though. this seems to be a side he has for some time.
bts' hoseok (j-hope): 7 of cups
he's also nice, like really nice. why he's low compared to his other members though for me is because he's extremely multi-layered. he's not only sunshine, he's not only the main dancer of bts. hobi has a lot to say, if you let him to do it. he wants to be raw and pure and just himself (to be as similar as liz) but considering his status and other circumstances, he cannot do that just yet. currently hobi is overthinking more than usual and if hybe just make him free to talk what he wants to say, he'll just do it, but just not yet..
bts' taehyung (v): the moon
even more multi-layered than j-hope. nowadays he is harder to get mainly because he wants to "break free". the freedom he seems to long for is rather related to his beliefs, they seem to be the main key. he feels too many emotions at once. why he's so high, though, compared to the other people, is because i sense this blockage is temporary and possibly because i've been in a similar situation before. he's not bad at all but he currently is going through a period that make him feel mixed. despite him being in the military, v seems to be around coworkers there that are trying to wake him up spiritually.
bts' namjoon (rm), enhypen's heeseung: 5 of swords rx
both boys are neutral to me. so, about namjoon, i see he's a bit better compared to heeseung. rm has been through a lot too but he seems to be in a "not this but not that" situation. heeseung on the other hand, i cannot sense much except that he might be currently really passive. heeseung seems to be harder to get. both boys are deeply in their thoughts and in different situations but they aren't as bad as they might be. currently they just are a bit harder to reach simply because they're overthinkers, especially bts' leader.
ive's gaeul, ive's wonyoung: 4 of pentacles rx
wonyoung is better to me. her mental health is so and so and that affects her a lot. despite how popular she is, wonyoung seems to get through the things in a odd way and it just cannot be explained by everyone. she's very generous and thankful for this lifetime but nonetheless she tries to be chill and to strengthen her mentality (psyche). gaeul on the other hand, my intuition said "uh she's so and so as a person". i don't have anything else to say.
enhypen's sunghoon: 5 of pentacles
he's currently getting through a lot and i am unsure where to put him. intuition-wise and through older readings, he's more introverted but despite that, he's also really nice.
enhypen's riki (niki): 9 of swords rx
from older readings i've sensed his personality differs a lot from most of the members, so that's why he's this down.
ive's rei: ace of pentacles
she's workaholic to the extent she doesn't think about anything else, like work is her only purpose. rei's "more nice" than yujin because she doesn't have ill intentions behind all of this and that's her way to cope with .. anything. i don't feel much for her too.
ive's yujin: king of pentacles
another workaholic to the extent her work is only on her mind. the difference is that she gets so obssesed over the work she has that she loses herself.
enhypen's jay: 4 of swords
.. very passive person, more than heeseung if i have to compare with him. he's down here because this trait of his is prominent.
ive's hyunseo (lesseo): 3 of swords
sometimes she's too brutal with her words. exteremely honest but also critisize a lot without working on herself for example. basically, she has traits that aren't good. i don't see she's manipulative but she has some work to do if she does want to change.
least likely to be nice
my ask was based on one card for each member and it's allegedly the "overall look". there might be some discrepancies here and there so i also used my intuition.

Hiya! Hope this message finds u well :3 I absolutely love your art; found you from insta! Quick question also; I’m not sure if you’ve answered this before, but which brushes do you use for ur digital art? I love the textures they’re so crunchy (endearing)!! Have a lovely day!! :D
hello!! here's a little brush tour ft. this half rendered martin.
also, a great app for ipad artists who really want to dig into texture is art set 4. i swear by it and i've been using it for about two years. none of my more recent art uses it, but that's just because i'm experimenting with my process rn
Tumblr media
so here's a list of my most used brushes lately, and there will be links to all of them at the bottom of this post.
the two labeled "custom pencil" are both my own personal modified pencils (both sourced from the 6b pencil) but the narinder pencil and the vanilla 6b pencil are both very similar to them. i use these two for sketching and flat color specifically, and if you do specifically want these two brushes then i'd be happy to upload them somewhere for you to download, but they're not really necessary for texture
i also use G&B halftone brushes sometimes! but i greatly prefer the RSCO sample pack, and i cannot find the link to the G&B brushes no matter how hard i google, and pretty much any halftone brush set will do the same job
Tumblr media
and here's what they look like in practice!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(i like to set these halftones to color burn. color burn is my most used blending mode, even for shading)
and then i hit "copy all," paste, and duplicate it. so you should have two layers of just your entire canvas. then import a paper texture
i'm partial to the set i'll link down below, my favorite is #5. you should absolutely check out the rest of the free texture packs on their website if you're wanting to diversify your texture process btw, all of their stuff is fantastic.
to use that texture, your layers should look like this!
Tumblr media
on the layer set to the linear burn, i also like to go into the adjustments menu and bump up the brightness until all of the colors are at similar values to what they were before. and the normal layer on top is just to control the intensity/opacity of the paper texture!
after all of that, sometimes i'll go in with brushes like MM rake follow, or more from COFE's weird pencils, on top of all of those layers for finishing touches.
definitely play around with it, try new free brushes all of the time (i heavily recommended subscribing to Manero. they have a lot of free stuff and it's all fantastic) and see what works for you <3
here are the links to the brushes in this post, as well as some extras! some of them are paid and some of them are completely free. + it wasn't mentioned here, but i use the tatyworks linen fabric brush for blending! for any of the paid brushes, i'll try to link some free alternatives

Taylor Zakhar Perez: A Storyteller and Latino Representation Advocate
Tumblr media
(Photo edit by me)
In the ever-evolving landscape of Hollywood, certain actors stand out not just for their talent but for their dedication to telling stories that resonate deeply with both themselves and their audiences. Taylor Zakhar Perez is one such actor who has quickly risen to prominence in Hollywood, not just for his striking looks but for his remarkable ability to choose roles that resonate deeply with both himself and his audience. From his roles in "The Kissing Booth" to "Red, White & Royal Blue," Taylor's commitment to portraying multi-faceted characters and championing Latino voices sets him apart as an extraordinary storyteller.
Taylor doesn't just take on any role that comes his way; he carefully selects characters that offer depth and complexity. He is not content with being typecasted into the typical "hot boy next door" archetype. Instead, he seeks out characters that challenge him as an actor and provide a richer, more nuanced experience for viewers.
His portrayal of Marco in "The Kissing Booth" trilogy is a testament to his ability to bring multi-dimensional characters to life. Marco isn't just the "hot and athletic new classmate." He's a talented musician with his own dreams and struggles, which adds layers to a character that could easily have been one-dimensional and that makes him more than just a romantic rival. Taylor's portrayal of Marco resonated with fans who saw a character they could relate to on multiple levels.
In "Red, White & Royal Blue," Taylor takes on the role of Alex Claremont-Diaz, a character who navigates the complexities of love, identity, and political ambition. Alex is not just a love interest and the son of the U.S. president but a complex individual navigating his identity, love, and political aspirations. He is a young man striving to balance his personal desires with his responsibilities, making him a deeply relatable character. Taylor's portrayal brings authenticity and vulnerability to the role while also showcasing his ability to blend humor, intelligence and emotional depth, which resonates with audiences who see themselves in Alex's journey.
One of Taylor's most admirable qualities is his dedication to representing Latino voices and stories in Hollywood. In an industry that often relegates Latino characters to specific stereotypes, Taylor is committed to breaking these molds. He understands the importance of seeing diverse and authentic representations on screen and is determined to be a part of that change. What is Eclectic Magic?
Eclectic magic is a personalized and flexible approach to witchcraft where the practitioner draws from multiple traditions, practices, and sources to create a path that is uniquely their own. Instead of following a single system (like Wicca, Hellenic, or Hoodoo), eclectic witches select the tools, deities, rituals, and beliefs that resonate with them—often blending different cultural or magical influences with care and personal meaning.
This practice values intuition, adaptability, and creativity. Eclectic witches may honor gods from more than one pantheon, combine modern witchcraft with folk techniques, or use both traditional and experimental spells.
Why Use Eclectic Magic in Witchcraft?
Eclectic magic allows for deep personal expression and evolution. It’s ideal for witches who don’t feel aligned with any one tradition—or who want the freedom to explore without being bound by strict rules or dogma.
This approach emphasizes authenticity over orthodoxy. It’s not about being inconsistent—it’s about building a path that feels spiritually and practically aligned with your experiences, beliefs, and needs. It also allows you to adapt your craft over time, learning from many sources and changing as you grow.
Beginner Tips
Do your research. Pulling from multiple paths means you need to understand the roots of what you’re working with. Be respectful and informed.
Keep a magical journal. Document what you try, what works, what doesn’t, and where things come from. This helps you stay intentional.
Start with a theme. Try building a spell or altar around a concept like healing, clarity, or strength using tools from different traditions to see how they blend.
Develop your ethics. When you’re not following a set tradition, your personal values become your compass—make sure they’re clear.
Be honest about your limits. It’s okay to not know everything. Take time with each new practice, and don’t rush to collect everything all at once.
Avoid closed practices. Not everything is available for eclectic use. Respect boundaries, cultures, and lineages that are not yours to claim.
Cautions and Ethics
Avoid cultural appropriation. Just because something is “interesting” doesn’t mean it’s appropriate to use. Research cultural significance and whether a practice is closed.
Don’t treat magic like a buffet. Eclectic doesn’t mean careless. Choose practices that resonate and integrate thoughtfully, not just because they seem cool.
Understand source context. Know where your practices come from and what they were originally meant to do—you may need to adapt them respectfully.
Stay grounded. Without structure, it’s easy to feel lost. Give yourself anchors—like daily rituals or core tools—to stay focused.
Respect traditions. You can borrow inspiration without claiming identity. Don’t call yourself a member of a tradition unless you’ve been initiated or trained in it.
How to Incorporate Eclectic Magic into Your Practice
Build a custom altar. Include tools, colors, symbols, or offerings from multiple sources that feel meaningful to you.
Write your own rituals. Pull inspiration from different rites and tailor them to your beliefs and needs.
Blend correspondences. Combine plant, crystal, or planetary correspondences from various traditions for multi-layered spells.
Honor multiple deities or energies. If it feels authentic, you can build relationships with more than one type of divine presence—just be respectful.
Create a magical framework. Over time, document your regular practices, ethics, and beliefs to form your own personal system.
My Experience and Notes
My path has always been eclectic, though I didn’t have the word for it at first. I pulled pieces from books, online posts, personal insights, and conversations with other witches. What started as a scatter of ideas became something intentional, layered, and deeply personal.
The key for me was learning to slow down. It’s tempting to collect everything shiny, but I found more power in learning a few tools really well and building out from there. My practice isn’t tied to any one tradition, but it’s grounded in care, study, and experience—and that makes it mine.
