im a HUGE huge fan of your work and insane story building, it always blows my mind
sadly i do not have the same advanced brain and never know where to start with story questions but was wondering what you were doing with the original Primes?
that’s a great question!
so there’s a lot of prime lore (and some that is intentionally a secret for now) but i can give you the basic gist:
The 13 original Primes are, as far as history is concerned, the first and most perfect Cybertronian organisms. Modern Cybertronians are not descended from these Primes, but rather parallel related (think of their ancestors as cousins instead of children). In Cybertronian religion and society they serve as the third arm of the Godhand, a spiritual concept that explains divinity as a concept that exists outside of time, asserting itself in the past, present, and future. The Primes are the present.
The original Primes are as follows:
(Note that all primes who died before the Quintesson reign are presented without a gender, as they never described themselves with Quintesson binary language)
VECTOR
The chronological first Prime, though as an entity Vector may exist at all times simultaneously. The least is known about them, as, according to Lore, their physical form atrophied early in history, and their individual parts scattered in space. Several of their parts are held by different entities, with the most notable being the Warp Cores, volatile Spark-like artifacts that facilitate the transfer of matter across time and space.
PRIMA
One-half of the first Twin Spark. Prima was held in high esteem by other Primes for their relative seniority and ambition, as well as their vision for Cybertron’s future. Their side was the victor in the first Great War, and their personal ideas about creation, divinity, society, and hierarchy are baked into the modern Cybertronian system. Despite their importance, they died with little fanfare before the Quintesson takeover. Their spark also served as the base material for the first Matrix of Leadership, and fragments of it exist in every subsequent Matrix.
MEGATRONUS
The second half of the original Twin Spark. Where Prima was bold, charismatic and belligerent, Megatronus was quiet, contemplative and philosophical. Not much is known about their life other than that they were part of one of the first combined pairs, they opposed Prima in the first Great War, and their Spark had the unique “null” property. The “null” spark, also known as the Null Core, seemingly cannot be absorbed or duplicated: any internal contact with the Null Core, even a small fragment of it, will cause the host body to rapidly die. Megatronus utilized this ability with their Null Blaster arm, which fired pieces of their spark to certainly kill any Cybertronian life form it targeted. The current whereabouts of the Null Core and the Null Blaster are unknown, although the energy properties it possessed were studied and replicated in some of the first Cybertronian weapons.
QUINTUS
Quintus was revered for his brilliant scientific mind and incredible ambition. His study into the creation of life and its properties formed the basis for almost all of Cybertron’s early life sciences. Though his ultimate goal to create a living Spark from nothing was never achieved, his advanced study into the functional properties of Cybertronian life was the basis for everything from the first Matrix of Leadership to the eventual wide-scale mechanization of all life on Cybertron. He disappeared from Cybertron during the first war and is now presumed dead, though not without lasting legacy. His perfect scientific creations, the Quintessons, eventually returned to Cybertron and assumed a long tenure as the planet’s overlords, permanently altering both Cybertronian society and the Cybertronians themselves. Now, Quintus’ greatest creation exists only as a system of industry and the caste system which fuels it.
ALCHEMIST
Not much is known about this Prime, even though their Energon research and development formed the basis for all food production on Cybertron, singlehandedly enabling population growth. They died before the Great War in a way historians can only agree was particularly gruesome and facilitated through their own hubris.
AMALGAMOUS
Another Prime with little historical record, other than possessing the first amorphous spark. The amorphous spark provided Amalgamous and their immediate relatives, now the modern day Shapeshifters, an advanced level of control over their physical appearance. This allowed the Shifters to adjust physical forms, easily integrate foreign body parts, and even change their physical appearances completely. Amalgamous also disappeared quite some time before the first Great War, though it is widely speculated that their body and spark were used by Quintus to develop the first “T-cogs,” artificial organs which eventually enabled transformation.
SOLUS
Solus was a brilliant engineer whose life was cut tragically short, and whose death is cited as one of the major inciting incidents for the Great War. They were responsible for most of Cybertron’s early industry and machining, and they notably developed many of the first mechanical prosthetic parts. They were also the other half of one of the first combined pairs, and one of the first Flightformes alongside the infamous Liege Maxima. They died to Megatronus’ Null Blaster, rendering their spark unrecoverable.
NEXUS
Nexus was actually seven organisms living as one, and the only recorded perfect fusion, a ‘Bot whose sparks were so in sync that they were perfectly stable and essentially existed as one spark. They facilitated the combination of Solus and Megatronus, and believed that all combination was sacred and natural. During the first Great War they aligned with Megatronus, and are most notable for being slain by Prima’s painstakingly engineered ultimate combiner team, Computron, though not before fatally wounding it. Both the Nexus Core and the Computron Core are rumored to still exist somewhere, and are said to have an aura that inspires an almost irresistible compulsion to merge with it.
MICRONUS
The first Minicon, a type of Cybertronian with a physically strong stature and an incredibly powerful Spark that can sustain immense amounts of physical strain for long periods of time. Micronus allied with Megatronus during the first Great War, making Minicons one of the many types of Cybertronians that Prima harbored a paranoid disdain for later in his life. Otherwise, their personal life is not very well understood.
LIEGE MAXIMA
Perhaps the most contentious of the Primes, second only to Megatronus themselves. Liege was one of the first Flightformes, and was known to be an artistic savant with talents ranging from painting to poetry. Unfortunately, she is much better known for her incredible manipulation and romantic history. At once the lover of Prima and later Megatronus, Liege Maxima is claimed to have persuaded the two into conflict with eachother, though her personal motives aren’t clear in recorded history. After Megatronus’ defeat, she was able to bargain for her life with Prima, and remained subordinate until eventually aiding the Quintessons in ousting the reigning Primacy. She was eventually killed by Zeta.
ONYX PRIME
Besides Amalgamous, Onyx Prime was the only other original Prime capable of physical transformation into what is colloquially known as a “beastforme.” As implied, a beastforme is a Cybertronian with enhanced physical abilities like superior strength, speed, or even flight, making them a sort of pseudo-Flightforme. Onyx fought on Megatronus’ side during the Great War, leading her people, the Beastformes, to be nearly eradicated, and for Prima to develop an extreme paranoia of them. Now, in the current day, Beastformes are near nonexistent, as their genetic material has been merged and diluted with the modern Cybertronian diaspora. Insecticons are the closest modern analogue, but those are not totally Cybertronian, and are actually a sort of Beastforme/Mechanimal cross (Mechanimals being Cybertronian-like organisms that lack some major trait).
ALPHA TRION
One of two original Primes to survive beyond the reign of the Quintessons, Alpha Trion is best known for being a historian. He is responsible for writing “Lore,” the fundamental historical text that informs everything from Cybertron’s government to its religion. Notably, he fought on Prima’s side during the first Great War. He worked with Zeta to overthrow the Quintessons and restructure Cybertronian society, and now he serves as the archhand to Zeta on the Council of Primes (a council which, perhaps counterintuitively, only consists of two Primes). His list of recorded accolades is long, but he is perhaps most known in war era Cybertron for mentoring Orion Pax.
ZETA PRIME
The youngest of the original Primes, Zeta is most known for taking after Prima as Cybertron’s principle Prime. He took Cybertron back from the Quintessons and restructured its society from the ground up, implementing the caste system into law in accordance with Cybertron’s major religious ideals. Though he and his council of Primes is responsible for anointing new leaders with the Prime title using the Matrices of Leadership (special artifacts constructed with a mix of Prima’s spark fragments and genetic material from other ruling Primes), those Primes are known to come to him for guidance. His Spark is the one to serve as the basis for the Matrix which anointed Optimus Prime, also known as the last Matrix.

Character Breakdown; Rodimus
Ayeee, it's Prime time!
How I feel about this character: I love him I love him I love him. He's such a depressed mood in G1, and I love the contrast of Hot Rod being his daredevil kid who doesn't take things seriously enough and then him becoming Rodimus Prime and he no longer smiles, he's depressed, his humor is now more sarcastic and dry, and he can't take the crushing weight of the primacy. He doesn't want to be in charge, but he has to, and all he wants is to live up to what Optimus built, but Optimus is such a towering figure compared to him that no matter what he does, he can't match the same feeling people get when they think about Optimus as a leader. He knows he can't be like Optimus, he can't inspire people like Optimus could, so he doesn't try. He gives up before he starts, which is why he doesn't try to be more poised and controlled like Magnus tells him to be. Optimus is so beloved that there's no point in trying to be great because he will never be as great as Optimus, and the meta of kids in the 80s hating Rodimus because he replaced Optimus is a real life example of the narrative around Rodimus Prime.
All the people I ship romantically with this character: Magnus. Magnus is my biggie. I don't mind seeing him shipped with Megs in MTMTE, but my favorite will always be G1 Rodimags. They are each other's steady presence. Both of them have doubts about their own capabilities, but the other is always there to reassure and help them along their way when they're struggling. Magnus often chastises Rodimus for his lack of tact in serious situations, but it isn't mean, he simply wants Rodimus to think more before he acts. Magnus himself is a disciplined figure who is a contrast to Rodimus's jump-into-action type thinking, and it's good for both of them to function as the other's opposite to get a well rounded thought process. Anyway this has been a Rodimags propaganda post.
My non-romantic OTP for this character: Arcee and Springer in G1 definitely, and Optimus as his big brother/father figure that he looks up to but struggles to live up to his legacy. His Hot Rod dynamics are silly and sweet, and his Rodimus Prime dynamics are more stunted because he's trying to be the leader they need.
My unpopular opinion about this character: He was really unlikable in the first half of MTMTE. While I found him funny and entertaining at times, he was very self centered and often insulted others or outright ignored their concerns. He gets better when Megatron shows up because they both are forced to accommodate the other's presence when neither of them want to be around each other. Rodimus becomes less impulsive in his decisions and actively apologizes for his previous mistreatment of Drift. Still can't get over just how mean he was to Red Alert in the written portion after volume 4, which I made a whole post about.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I wish that the G1 cartoon took more time to actually wrap up Rodimus's character development in a satisfying way. G1 often has good ideas for a plot narrative, but because the show is supposed to be nothing more than a glorified toy commercial, they often don't treat their ideas with the care and thought that would make them actually matter to the story in the long run. The end of Rodimus's ark is that he just sucks it up and eventually he gladly hands the Matrix back to Optimus, and instead of his pre established depression and self doubt mattering more to his character in later episodes, it gets brushed off for the sake of newer characters being introduced. I did like the Hate Plague episodes, but how it ended really overshadowed all that Rodimus was stacking up to be. His development is rendered null and void by Optimus returning and taking over again. It's like nothing ever happened for Rodimus. He's back to being Hot Rod, and we don't see much of a change in how he behaves due to his experiences. Aside from that, more continuities should incorporate that idea into their versions of Rodimus. It would be great if we could see his ark done well and explore what it means to take on a position when your predecessor is so highly regarded that it's impossible to live up to his image.

Have you ever thought about Megatron's claim in tfp that he can "control" the Terracons but we never actually see him do it? Sure, sir stands on top of a cliff, gives a dramatic speech, and, presumably, sends off his hoard to destroy Optimus on his behalf, but is that really controlling them?
Excuse me, but I must rant for a moment.
The first interaction is with Cliffjumper's revived corpse, pre-Dark Engeron infusion. So, obviously, there is no control and the Terracon attacks. Fitting with the whole "destroyer" aspect of Unicron. But is that just its nature, or a clue?
Then of course there is the cliff scene, the whole "rise and tear them apart" shebang... but does that actually deviate from the default nature of the Terracons? Attack the living? One of which possessed the fragging Matrix of Leadership?
*slams gavel down* Inconclusive evidence I say! Objection sustained!
The next interaction is the space bridge explosion. While calling back to Michelangelo's Creation of Adam (hehe, nice playing God implication), it also shows that there was no contact or room to give orders. So that is also null.
We do also have the Skyquake incident, which does not include Megatron but does include interactions with both bots and humans. The Zombie Con clearly attempted to attack the bots first and foremost, then moved on to the humans once the larger targets were gone. A result of visibility or sensitivity to the energon in their systems? A sort of I'm Primus' creation flag waving? IDK, I'm speculating.
And, finally, with the vampire infection on the Nemesis, Megatron can sense the Terracons, but he can't control them at all. (I've only seen clips of that particular episode, so my speculation will have to end there, but wasn't KO and Starscream right next to him at the time of the attack?)
So, no, Meggsy, I don't think you had any control over the Terracons. Zombie AU where he figures this out, anyone?
I could just be overthinking the entire thing, but I've been gnawing on this for Y E A R S.

Thank you!
Here are the symbols, as I know them:
Λ (lambda, phonetic symbo, Ll; ʎ used in math), ʃ ("esh" & integral; phonetic symbol, formerly used to represent ‘sh’) or ⎎ (technical symbol, hysteresis symbol, correlates to f), ǁ (math, parallel to; phonetic symbol, aveolar lateral consonant), : (ratios or scales), ❜ (phonetic symbol), o (phonetic symbol) or O (math, Landau's symbol, describes the asymptotic behavior of functions or represents the null matrix where all elements are zero), last is the drop-looking symbol that I'm struggling with.
And the lineup of powers as we first hear about them in BotW was from Rotana, who said that they were: "skill, spirit, endurance, knowledge, flight, motion, & gentleness."
However, the Stelae themselves write it out as "heart, skill, fortitude, wisdom, flight, mobility, & compassion."
Remember that this was supposedly left by the Heroines themselves, making it akin to a first hand account, I believe?
And, luckily, the difference is easily explained by the legend having been told multiple times over generations. As they can be condensed like this:
Heart/spirit, skill, fortitude/endurance, wisdom/knowledge, flight, mobility/motion, & compassion/gentleness.
I also looked up what kanji were used in the original text just in-case & this is ultimately my conclusion to it all with the order of both the Stelaes' list of powers, the symbols at both the ruins & in the shelter, & the gifts left at the underground altar:
Heart; Shin (心; means heart, spirit, or mind) = ❜ = Gerudo Shield
Skill; Gi (技; means skill or technique) = Λ = Golden Claymore
Fortitude; Tai (耐; means endure or resist) = O = Ruby
Wisdom; Chi (知; means knowledge or wisdom) = : = Sapphire
Flight; Hi (飛; means flight) = ⎎ = Topaz
Mobility; Dō (動; means motion) = Drop Sign = Gerudo Scimitar
Compassion; Jū (柔; means gentleness or softness) = ǁ = Gerudo Spear
Though, I noticed that the weapon missing from this line-up is the Golden Bow. But, then again, it's possible that one of the Heroines that gave a gem might've used one. Possibly the Heroine of Flight. I mean, Hi (飛) is evidently used in verbs referring to “letting something fly,” so that might well be it.
Similarly, I believe that the kanji that I paired with the fortitide also is correct as the kanji is used in the term taika (耐火) which means “fire-proof.” Ergo, the ruby. Similarly, jū (柔) is the kanji used for jūdō. So, if I'm right, then I think it suggests that the Heroine of Compassion might've been a master of Sōjutsu (the art of the spear). Or whatever the Gerudo equivalent of such might be.
And part of the reason why I believe that Misko might be related to the Heroines is due to their name in all other countries:
Japanese: Ramuda (ラムダ)
Dutch: Lambda
French: Lambda
German: Ramda
As in, their actual name is Lambda & their symbol is a Lambda.
So, yeah! That's what I have so far! :D
(At least, that's what my research has told me.)
Fucking sick as shit man!

A note on narrative, fandom, trauma representation, catharsis, etc, particularly in regards to Gale Dekarios:
I will say this- since the inception of storytelling, since PAINTINGS ON CAVE WALLS, people have discussed storytelling, agreed and disagreed, and more importantly found cracks, flaws, and outright failings in the logic or narrative stability set up by an author/creator.
Every member of Larian Studios could do a press conference tomorrow saying that Gale and Mystra are equally to blame and it would not change my interpretation. It would not change my lived experience as a survivor of grooming, violence, coercion, and religious trauma. It would not change the lived experience of those of you who love Gale because you experienced grooming, abuse, and layers of cruelty as a neurodivergent in academia.
It would not change the measurable, tangible reality of power imbalance in DV/trauma. It would not change the provable, photographable changes to the brain that occur from these things. It would not change the soundness of carefully analyzed and written or spoken examinations of both systemic & personal abuse found in not only Gale's story but EVERY SINGLE ORIGIN CHARACTERS STORY.
What incels think the Matrix is does nothing to make the Wachowskis less femme, less trans. They're at best Cypher, NOT NEO, no matter how much they whine. Nothing in The Matrix truly supports their argument. On the other side of the token, what Harry Potter did for me as an abused & neglected child who didn't trust adults isn't null & void now that JKR is a mask off, full time hate monger. It gave me a context that strengthened me. It fueled little me to keep fighting and to be brave & do good. That's not ugly in me because it's ugly in JKR. What my abusive parents did to me was bad and wrong and is not less bad and wrong because I'm funny and charming in the same way my most violent abuser was. It has always been like this.
Which is to say...
I know when a character is changing things for you, wrapping their story around your DNA, guiding you across the river Styx that is processing your own baggage and/or outright trauma, EVERYTHING feels big and raw. But you don't have to defend them. I hope when you DO defend them, it teaches you to defend, love, forgive, & cherish yourself (Sansa Stark very genuinely saved my life in this way). And I hope you know you don't owe anyone ANYTHING. You don't have to counter Mystra evangelists. You don't have to clapback to dorito dusted edgelords who take joy in reducing all of these characters to some one dimensional pissbaby copy pasta for reddit or Twitter.
Your fandom experience can be JOYFUL AND JOYFUL ALONE. If Gale of Waterdeep got you through ANYTHING, from a bad midterms period to the death of an abuser to an ongoing, ever-evolving journey of healing, THEN THAT'S WHAT GALE'S STORY IS FOREVER FOR YOU.
#gale of waterdeep#gale dekarios#galeposting#bg3#my hands are rated m for mystra#don't make yourself crazy over these people

LoZ: Wild - The 7 Heroines Symbol Analysis
Ya'll, with @alasse-earfalas' help, I realized that dang near every one of the Heroines' symbols all relate to mathematical symbols or phonetic symbols in some way!
To start off, one of them is most definitely a Lambda, which relates back to another theory, but that's for another time.
Anyway, here are the symbols in question!

The one in the upper left is the Lambdah (Λ/ʎ), which is the letter correlating to L in the Greek alphabet.
The Lambda is the 11th character in the Greek alphabet & according to Herodotus, Labda was the daughter of Amphion (demi-god son of Zeus & twin to Zethus, associated with the lyre) & the mother of Cypselus by Eetion. Cypselus eventually established the earliest known tyrant dynasty.
Evidently, it symbolized unity under oppression & is referred to as the Greek letter for “sameness.” It also corresponded with the number 30 in the Greek numerical system. Which, 30 was often associated with maturity, as well as the attainment of a certain level of experience or wisdom, especially considering the lifespan expectations in ancient times.
The origins of the letter is thought to depict a shepherd's staff, meaning that it has themes of guidance & authority. It's shape also resembles an arrow pointing upwards, which conveys an impression of accent or elevation. And this leads to metaphorical themes revolving around progress or advancement.
Not to mention, in physics, it refers to wavelength. But in calculus, it's a "formal system in mathematical logic for expressing computation based on function abstraction & application using variable binding and substitution."
Here are the symbols, as I know them.
It may be that the colors of them are also important.
Just for reference, asymptote is defined as "a line that continually approaches a given curve but does not meet it at any finite distance."
Now, for the Heroines, here's what we know.
Rotana said that the powers were: "skill, spirit, endurance, knowledge, flight, motion, & gentleness."
However, the Stelae say that they are: "heart, skill, fortitude, wisdom, flight, mobility, & compassion."
Luckily, these are easily condensed: heart/spirit, skill, fortitude/endurance, wisdom/knowledge, flight, motion/mobility, & gentleness/compassion.
Heart & spirit are interchangeable as "heart" is likely referring specifically to one's spiritual heart based on Kokoro (心), which can translate to both.
For now, I believe that the Λ may be the symbol for the Heroine of either wisdom/knowledge or motion/mobility or possibly flight. Though, for the moment, I'm leaning more towards wisdom/knowledge.
And, because of the nature of spirit within Japanese culture, I'm inclined to believe that the symbol of the Heroine of heart/spirit may have been ❜.
Heart = ❜
Skill = "The ability to do something well."
Fortitude = "Courage in pain or adversity."
Wisdom = Λ?
Flight =
Mobility = Λ/O? "The ability to move or be moved freely & easily."
Compassion = "Sympathetic pity or concern for the sufferings or misfortunes of others."
Also, the gifts left for the 8th were a gold rupee, a ruby, a sapphire, a topaz, a spear, a shield, a claymore, & scimitar.
These gifts were all positioned at the foot of a statue with, most likely the 8th being the one in the center.
Starting from front-left (Gerudo Shield), middle-left (Golden Claymore), back-left (Ruby), middle-back (Sapphire?), then going back-right (Topaz), middle-right (Gerudo Scimitar), front-right (Gerudo Spear), & ending in center (Gold Rupee?).
I haven't figured it all out yet, but if anyone has any suggestions or knows what the drop symbol is, I encourage assistance.
---
Edit: I'm sorry.
I just realized that it's very possible that the game already shows you which is which.
Look at the way they are always arranged.
It appears to be the same each time.
And, the Stelae, which may or may not have been carved by the Heroines themselves, write it out as "heart, skill, fortitude, wisdom, flight, mobility, & compassion."
Also, something interesting of note is the characters used for them in Japanese.
Shin or Kokoro (心) = Heart, spirit, mind.
Gi or Waza (技) = Skill, technique.
Tai or Taeru (耐) = Enduring, to resist or withstand (e.g. 耐火 is “fire-proof”).
Chi or Shiru (知) = Knowledge, wisdom.
Hi or Tobasu (飛) = Flight, used in a lot of verbs related to jumping or letting something fly.
Dō or Ugoku (動) = Motion.
Jū or Yawaraka (柔) = Gentleness, softness (it’s the “ju” in judo).
---
Heart = Shin (心; heart, spirit) = ❜ = Shield
Skill = Gi (技; skill, technique) = Λ = Claymore
Fortitude = Tai (耐; endure, resist) = O = Ruby
Wisdom = Chi (知; knowledge, wisdom) = : = Sapphire
Flight = Hi (飛; flight) = ⎎ = Topaz
Mobility = Dō (動; motion) = Drop Sign = Scimitar
Compassion = Jū (柔, gentleness, softness) = ǁ = Spear
...
Did I just figure it out?
... Regardless, even if I am right, I'm still ridiculously curious as to what the drop symbol is, though. Like, is it just the odd one out that they chose just to mess with us?
Are the gifts they left for the 8th in any way related to their Special Powers™ or the way they fight? Are the symbols?
And, if so, how?
Like, I'm pretty positive that, if I am right, then the Heroine of Heart's symbol is, in fact, a reference to the Mitama of Japanese myth & the Heroine of Fortitude's gift may have been a hint to the term taika (耐火) meaning "fireproof."
I'm not entirely positive of the rest, though...
... That drop sign is gonna erk me until I get confirmation, won't it? 😮💨

Followup question: if we moved the now much-better-lit cloisters to a New Location, would the New Location have the same effects as the original, would the Old Location retain its effects despite being cloister-less, or would both/neither have the effects?
What would happen if we moved the Cloisters?
The answer depends on what causes the Cloisters' strange effects in the first place.
🌀 The Cloisters and Their Unique Properties
The Cloisters aren't just a physical space—they're tied to the fabric of Gallifrey's history, the Matrix, and the planet's time-warped geography. Several key factors make them unique:
The Matrix is stored there. It's an interdimensional construct, meaning its influence is tied to its location but isn't necessarily dependent on it.
The Cloister Wraiths guard the Matrix and "file" intruders. They might relocate with the Cloisters, but they could also remain bound to their original space.
The Caldera Connection: The Cloisters are situated within a null zone connected to the Caldera, Gallifrey's geothermal and temporal energy hotspot. This could mean their effects are geographically rooted rather than something that can be "picked up and moved."
🔎 Scenario 1: The New Location Gains the Effects
If the Cloisters were moved, their effects might transfer—but only if the new location has the same temporal properties as the original. Since the Cloisters are built within a null zone where the normal laws of time are suspended, this feature might be essential for their function.
If the Matrix, Wraiths, and defences relocate intact, the new Cloisters could function as before.
However, the Caldera connection might not be replicable, meaning the new Cloisters could have different effects rather than being an exact duplicate of the old.
The Wraiths might relocate… or they might refuse to move and stay behind, guarding an empty basement for all eternity.
🔎 Scenario 2: The Old Location Retains the Effects
If the Cloisters were removed, the old location might still exhibit strange effects because those effects could be intrinsic to the space itself.
If the Caldera is responsible, the location could still distort time and attract anomalies, even without the Cloisters present.
If Cloister Wraiths are bound to the land, they may continue to defend the space even after the Matrix is moved.
Any lingering temporal anomalies, leftover artefacts, or residual energy leaks could keep the area dangerous, haunted, or just deeply unsettling.
🔎 Scenario 3: Both Locations Retain Some Effects
In the worst-case scenario, moving the Cloisters fractures their effects, causing two separate but equally unstable locations:
The new location inherits some properties but lacks the full power of the original.
The old location remains unpredictable—possibly degraded, haunted, or still attracting anomalies.
There is a huge chance that this would just double the amount of terrible things happening.
If the Matrix struggles to reestablish itself, both locations could become dangerous in different ways, with one housing weakened Wraiths and the other echoes of past events running on an endless loop.
🏫 So ...
✔️If the Cloisters are linked to the Caldera, moving them could weaken or alter their effects.
✔️If the effects are tied to the Matrix itself, the new location might work, but the old one could remain a problem.
✔️If both locations retain some effects, Gallifrey just ends up with two nightmare crypts instead of one.
🚨 Moving the Cloisters is an incredibly bad idea. 🚨

It's very sweet about CS Lewis to idiotproof Paradise Lost against atheists. He didn't have to do that. He was a Christian writer in a Christian society and I assume he could have gotten away with just talking to other Christians about it and ignoring annoying people who wrongly read subversion into Milton. Instead he gives us a Christianity 101 chapter in A Preface to Paradise Lost and says, "this is the theological canon of the church, and here is how Milton hews to it again and again".
So now I think I understand Christianity. Maybe?
CS Lewis, explaining the canonical beliefs: Everything in nature is intrinsically good. Bad things happen when conscious creatures become "more interested in itself than in God", or assumes it can exist independently of God, as when Milton's Satan says that he is "self-begot".
me: Just for fun, let me enumerate the possible answers to 'who begot us?' – (1) conscious supreme being – e.g. Christian God, (2) our parents – e.g. Confucianism, (3) the self, (4) the weight of human history – humanity co-creating itself by maintaining a matrix of culture, (5) Nature – non-conscious but still revered, e.g. planet worship / I hecking love science, (6) null answer – non-conscious material processes.
Lewis: God knows in advance that some conscious entities will voluntarily make themselves bad and also knows what good use He will make of their badness. As [Milton's] angels point out, whoever tries to rebel against God produces the result opposite to his intention. At the end of the poem Adam is astonished at the power 'that all this good of evil shall produce'. This is the exact reverse of the programme Satan had envisaged in Book I, when he hoped, if God attempted any good through him, to 'pervert that end'; instead he is allowed to do all the evil he wants and finds that he has produced good. Those who will not be God's sons become His tools.
me: That's such beautiful cope! I've heard the badly-articulated versions of that Christian belief but it turns out I'm unprincipled and like it when you, Charisma Stat Lewis, say it.
me: It's also hard not to speculate that this belief is more adaptive in a world with e.g. a 50% child mortality rate.
Lewis: Also, The apple wasn't magic. THE APPLE WASN'T MAGIC. The only point of forbidding it was to instill obedience. The disobedience was so heinous precisely because obedience was so easy.
me: it was a shit test
Lewis: The Fall consisted of man's disobedience to his superior and was punished by man's loss of authority over his inferiors – chiefly over his passions and his physical organism. "Man has called for anarchy: God lets him have it." After the Fall, understanding ceased to rule and the will did not listen to understanding.
me: okay so what about the physical organism
Lewis: Man used to control his erections before the Fall
me: what
Lewis: That's right. No accidental boners. No morning wood. No dead bedroom subreddits. You can clench your fist without being angry and you can be angry without clench your fist. The will controls the fist. The sexual organs used to be like that.
me: That follows splendidly from "man was punished by the passions overruling the will" and yet I wasn't expecting that at all. Probably because I'm female? I annotated your "the will did not listen to understanding" with "we didn't have akrasia before the fall", because akrasia is a big problem for me. But being horny isn't.
me: I mean, obviously some women are really horny and causes them to act in unwise ways, and some men aren't horny. But "single men under age 25 are the most societal-problem-causing demographic" is well known, and even outside that age range, men seem to be, like, "cursed with horny" in a way that requires managing & makes them miserable on a day to day basis... so it makes sense that male interpreters would identify that with the Fall. It's conceptually congruent in a way "the Fall caused childbirth to be painful" isn't.
Lewis: Anyway, the Fall – people overcomplicated it. The apple is just an apple. It's not an allegory. The Fall consisted of Disobedience – doing what your superiors told you not to do – and resulted from Pride, which is forgetting your place. This is what the Church has always taught. Milton states it in the very first line of his poem and all his characters reiterate it from every possible point of view. Don't read false emphases into Milton! This is what he is saying: obedience to the will of God will make you happy and disobedience will make you miserable.
me: Well, obviously you know that your modern reader doesn't like this. You're pleasantly cognizant of atheist readers who are into self-governance and equality.
Lewis: The modern idea that we can choose between hierarchy and equality is not quite right. The real alternative to hierarchy is tyranny. If you will not have authority you will find yourself obeying brute force.
me: I simultaneously have a suspicious-resistant feeling and the perception that, when people in my milieu disagree with this, your view is the baseline from which we deviate minorly. Any form of functional social arrangement is going to have something that looks like authority and obedience.
Lewis: Understand this: Milton's poem belongs to a hierarchical conception of the universe where everything except God has some natural superior and everything except dead matter has some natural inferior. Superiors should rule over inferiors. When Milton protests an instance of rule (he was against the monarchy of the Stuarts) he is disagreeing that the Stuarts are superior while still thinking that hierarchy is cosmically good. The justice or injustice of any given instance of rule depends wholly on the nature of the parties, not on any social contract.
me: I have little respect for Confucianism because it strikes me as so overtly a system of thought with no internal merit or wisdom on the micro, whose only function is to make society run on the macro. (I'm sorry to say "only" there, because that's a big function.) What you describe has the same feel. This isn't a great label for it, but I'd call both Confucianism and Christian hierarchy 'biological philosophies', in that of course this is the philosophy that materially deprived apes who want both power and stability would equilibriate on: a system of subjugation and cope. The hierarchical conception itself is "understanding ceasing to rule".
Lewis: [Lewis would doubtless totally own me. But he doesn't directly address this in anything I've read by him, and I can't simulate him in enough detail to generate his response.]

Orion Pax fired a weapon only once in his life.
He was a young archivist at the time.
Young, easily exited, and as Ratchet would end up saying for the next couple of centuries, so smart he somehow circled all the way back to stupid.
He made fast friends with a brilliant scientist seeker fresh out of the academy. Somehow, their talk turned from aerodynamics to experimental non-lethal weapondy.
The seeker had been experimenting with a new application for null rays and invited Orion for a test shooting.
The gun felt extremely clunky on his hands, and he had to be corrected a dozen times on how to properly hold the thing.
It took some time, but finally, he took aim at the target and shot.
Not only was he laughable off mark, but the recoil hit him so unexpectedly that the barrel of the gun smaked him in the face, hard enough to dent it.
Even hour laters, as Ratchet patched him up, his shoulders trembled with leftover damaged from the unexpected shock to his motors.
That was the first and only time Orion Pax fired a weapon.
The first time Optimus Prime held a weapon, it fit perfectly in his hands.
His posture was perfect, his aim impeccable.
And even after a dozen, a hundred, a thousand shots, his arms did not tremble.
He wishes they did.
---
Okay so, i have THOUGHTS about the matrix pretty much reformatting Orion's body into a warframe

Fics I don't know if I'll ever write but I'd love to Part 5.
This is more like one I'd love to read. But does anyone remember the animated Canadian(?) show, Reboot?
Short synopsis from Wiki: The show follows the adventures of a Guardian named Bob and his companions Enzo and Dot Matrix within the computer system world of Mainframe as they work to keep it safe from the viruses known as Megabyte and Hexadecimal, in addition to other threats. Recurring plot threads include the User loading a game into the system, manifesting as an electrical violet cube lowered onto part of the city. Anyone trapped inside become NPCs and have the chance to play against the User. If the User wins, the area is destroyed (a.k.a. nullified) and the residents are reduced to leech-like creatures called Nulls.
So, premise would be all the Batfam are variously Guardians/supporting roles. Batman has gone missing inside a game, presumed "nullified." Naturally, Tim does not believe this and sets out on a mission to find Bruce again, taking increasingly reckless risks to track down the man he knows is still alive.
Thinking about who would be the most interesting cohort to throw in with Tim; a group of two/three other people... Thoughts? And it would be a great opportunity to use Lonnie à la his role in Red Robin.
It also means, narratively, someone would have to get "nullified" to raise the stakes. Horrible fate! Who would that be...

Abez Sein
One of the members of the council of six. He was a skilled demon slayer and master of technology. After seeing a vision of his own death, he went after 5 demons to seek their forbidden knowledge of eternal life and obtain it by force. Gaining the knowledge of how to transfer his consciousness into an artificial vessel, he did as such, prolonging his life as long as the personality matrix of his new mechanical body wasn't destroyed. He is a superboss in my game Chronicles Meteorfall, and is INSANELY POWERFUL. In fact, he may just be the hardest superboss in the game outside of the NG+ exclusive bosses. He is fought in the 100th trial of the proving grounds, requiring that you defeat all previous 99 trials to get to him. Thankful, if you lose you can start right back at trial 100 instead of having to go back to Trial 91, so you can try (and fail) to defeat him as many times as it takes to win.
Now, for this battle strategy. But first, a few ground rules need to be laid out. Firstly, Abez has 300,000 HP in total. The main gimmick of this fight is that you MUST deal 60,000 damage within 10 turns or Abez will use his Armageddon art. Armageddon deals 9,999,999 almighty damage to all foes, so safe to say that Armageddon WILL ALWAYS be an instakill regardless of circumstances.
Along with that, Abez will automatically use Armageddon after 50 turns total have passed, and will counter with Armageddon if you use Sensayu or Kaiser Dragon at any point during the fight. He will also begin the fight with Armageddon if you null/reflect/absorb any element, so no Lordly Robes/Black Mwamba/Zodiark Armor cheese. Abez's fight is split into 6 distinct phases, each being equivalent to 10 turns. Here is each phase explained in detail:
Phase 1: This phase is between 300,000 and 240,000 HP. In this phase Abez nullifies all damage including almighty, but can still be damaged by the weapon skill "Devil's Fuge", which is attributed to the sword "Missletainn." His arts during this phase include Lucky Punch to deal critical hits, Lost Flame to deal unreal fire damage to all foes, and Lethality X to instantly kill enemies inflicted with a status effect or below 50% HP. His passive traits during this phase include healing 5% of HP/AP every turn and having a 25% chance to inflict petrify with physical attacks. He has 3 press turns during this phase.
Phase 2: This phase is between 240,000 and 180,000 HP. In this phase Abez nullifies fire, light, and dark, resists slash, smash, strike, thunder, and force, and is weak to water. His arts include Rexfire, Lucky Punch, and Chronostasis. Chronostasis is a new art that inflicts stop on one enemy, making them completely unable to move or act for 2 turns. His passive traits during this phase include +50% P.Pierce to strengthen lucky punch even further and +5% HP Regen (but not AP Regen) He has 5 press turns during this phase. Finally, Abez will counter almighty attacks with a 4th art, Fire of Sodom, a fire-elemental attack that does colossal fire damage to all battlers.
Phase 3: This phase is between 180,000 and 120,000 HP. In this phase Abez resists fire, nullifies light and dark, reflects water and thunder, and is weak to slash, smash, and strike. In this phase his arts include Engravitron to reduce all foes HP by 50%, Rexfire once again, and the new art Holy Wrath which deals severe almighty damage to one foe x4. His passive traits during this phase include restoring 5% of AP every turn (but not HP), and having permanent "Divine Expansion" active. (all single target attacks become multi target) He has 5 press turns during this phase.
Phase 4: This phase is between 120,000 and 60,000 HP. In this phase Abez absorbs slash, smash, and strike, resists fire/water/thunder/force, nulls dark, and is weak to light and almighty. Abez's arts in this phase include Rexwind, Engravitron, and the new art Spawn Blast. His passive traits during this phase include restoring 5% HP every turn and once again having permanent Divine Expansion. As for what Spawn Blast does, it deals severe almighty damage to one foe while inflicting "super poison", a new status effect. What does super poison do? Well, super poison does nothing on the first turn it is active. However, on the second turn, it will remove 90% of the user's current HP and AP and inflict them with poison and disease. Abez has 4 press turns during this phase. This phase's main weakness is that Abez's SPD is reduced by 90%, making him almost always go last in a turn. He also gets one less turn than the previous two phases, making this phase one of the easier ones especially with his weakness to almighty.
Phase 5: This phases is between 60,000 HP and 0 HP and is the final regular phase. In this phase Abez resists slash, smash, strike, fire, and water, absorbs thunder, nulls light and dark, and is weak to force. His arts in this final phase include Rexfrost, Rexthunder, and Piercing Hit, a new art. Piercing Hit deals unreal physical damage to one foe that pierces 80% of DEF, making it extremely powerful. His passive traits during this phase include having permanent Divine Expansion AND Arcane Diffusion and will drain HP/AP equal to 20% of damage dealt. He has 4 press turns during this phase.
Extra Phase/Phase 6: After 40 turns regardless of the turn timer and damage requirement, Abez Sein will enter this bonus phase. In this phase he will exclusively cast luster on himself and debilitate on the party. However, he can have other reactions based on the party's actions. If both he is buffed and you are debuffed, he will use Calamity Gate, (most likely) ending the fight. Calamity Gate does insane almighty damage to all foes 4 times while inflicting silence. It also pierces 60% of RES. In this phase he will counter any physical attack with Zetaflash and any magickal attack with Hypernova. And finally If you choose to heal, he will use Sacred Paradise which will heal him fully. (9,999,999 HP healed) A very tough fight indeed.
His design, backstory, and moveset is loosely based on the protagonist of Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked, fan nicknamed as "Kat." His battle strategy is inspired on the fight with Elizabeth in Persona 3, but more fair since you can actually see the damage requirements, Abez doesn't full heal halfway through, he doesn't instant kill when going below half HP, and doesn't randomly cycle through different movesets in a pattern where one is an almost guaranteed instant kill.

You probably already know this, but for stoichiometry, instead of trying to solve Rv_1 = Pv_2, where R is the matrix of reactants and P the matrix of products, you can simply solve [R; -P] v = 0, which is cleaner, because you can just mechanically apply Gaussian elimination, instead of trying to guess and check. The visual intuition is simply that of finding some null-subspace within molecule-space (because within the null-space total atom/element count is constant)
:3 mhm, mhm; once someone pointed me at the linear algebra methods, I actually tried solving the problem sets I was given with Gaussian elimination, but I ended up going around in circles and giving myself headaches because I was shite at the recognized notation and I was using techniques I didn't really understand the implications of.
I ended up basically rebuilding similar ideas up out of geometric intuition wrt those vectors in moleculespace-
-using the matrix grids of numbers solely as writing shorthands and visual aids to extract linear equations, and cranking out elementary algebra on the linear equations.
my vague impression from independent research (i.e. stackexchange) is that all of this is totally babytier & direly insufficient for real srsbzns chemistry, b/c the ordering relationship between reactants and products in each equation is non-fundamental - that atomic species are conserved at this level (not accounting for nuclear reactions), but the recombinations of those species are determined by stochastic hops over gradients in the energy landscape, and can therefore somehow generate more pathologically complex balanced reactions than I'm prepared to understand with these techniques.
well, in the absence of a rationale to convince my chemistry department that I'm ready to sit in on higher-level lectures and get credits for it, that's why I'm self-studying more pure math in the mean time (i.e. watching 3blue1brown and very slowly working through the exercises in Linear Algebra Done Right, lol)
#i'm surprised you knew I was struggling with stoichiometry#if I've posted about it on tumblr I completely forgot about it lol

what is Reboot? every sc you post of it reminds me of Beast Wars in that it's that same era of weird early cgi sci-fi
very funny you mention beast wars because thats the same company that animated/created reboot! Mainframe Entertainment ! animated here in vancouvr canada
reboot is Basically about the goings on of the inside of a computer, the world/city the main characters live in is called Mainframe. when the computer user starts up a video game, a large dark cube thing descends onto the city, and any people within that cube must partake in the game as NPCs. if they die to the User in the game, they turn into a Null which is like a featureless slug creature. basically a If They Die In The Game They Die In Real Life kind of thing.
it follows bob, dot matrix, and enzo as they get up 2 Wacky Hijjinks and are pulled into the video game and try to stop it, with a dif game/genre each episode. It Apparently gets more plot heavy apparently in the last season, but I didn't make it to all that yet... theres 2 Main Big Bads: Megabyte and Hexidecimal!
They're both personified viruses, Hexidecimal is super flighty and unpredictablw and controls the Nulls . shes also an absolute babe and shes evil and i lov her. While Megabyte is mostly just the Main Big Bad Guy, plays a BC Rich guitar in that one episode, and is voiced by Frollo
despite the very Not Great animation, its honestly a really impressive show if you remind yourself about WHEN it was created. there are moments where they either animate the pupils flickering around while a character is thinking, or like, minor secondary animation moments that were typically overlooked in a LOT of cgi back then. but its also still VERY dated (personally i adore how the show looks)
the show is on tubi, but im pretty sure its all on youtube or internet archive in better quality.
#frank.txt#i rlly rlly enjoy it its a cute and fun show#during the musical episode when he pulled out the BC Rich guitar i was so stoked . i think their guitars r so silly and pointy
