I think queer stories would be better if people stopped assuming that queer representation hinges on if two characters are romantically involved at all. Like the moment you accept characters as being queer without needing romance to prove said queerness then i think we'd find ourselves with a lot more unique, nuanced, and interesting queer stories. but by limiting queerness to only romance you are stifling queer stories.

Forever thinking of Jin Guangyao sick, fevered, and in pain— who doesn’t think how he usually does and cries for his Mother to come. But, He doesn’t protest if one of his Sworn Brother’s comes instead gently to take him in their arms as he drifts back to sleep.

Lan Xichen will play music for him, will chat to him, will remind him where he is when he asks- he tends to find filling the room with his own voice distracts him from the fact his poor A-Yao is sick. It doesn’t seem to bother Jin Guangyao as he just curls up on him and listens. He always asks him questions as well but he usually only gets a hum in reply- it’s the thought that counts.

Nie Mingjue is much different when he visits. He tends not to speak much at all- instead he’ll draw up a bath for him, let him relax, wash his hair that hasn’t been tended to because he hasn’t been given any accommodations for his illness. He’ll bring him food that he used to make his brother when he was much younger (and much weaker- when Nie Mingjue would worry that even the cold would damage him). At one point Jin Guangyao will look up at him, eyes unfocused, and ask what’s going on. At this time Nie Mingjue must speak- so he tells him that’s he’s just a little sick but that’s alright… it’s alright Sect Leader Nie is here, my little deputy. He feels a twinge of guilt (why did he lie? Why did he feel the need to) when Jin Guangyao replies that he feels honored that his Sect Leader would visit him during this time… he’s very thankful… and before resting his head back down (unknowingly into Nie Mingjue’s arms) he tells him “It’s very nice to be back in the Nie Sect again”

I'm dedicated to reading traditionally romantic songs as aro songs and I've got to say: the chorus to I Wanna Dance with Somebody by Whitney Houston sounds very aro-coded and an ode to self-love in the same way as Dancing with Myself by Billy Idol. Also, I just read it in general as a frayro allo song as there the whole line about love being a "fever" that always ends.

I would trust allo people more with shipping Aromantic characters if they actually treated it as an aromantic relationship instead of an allo relationship. You can't honestly think I'll believe when you say "They're still aro when i ship them!" and then show no signs of understanding or exploring how their aro identity affects their relationship outside of "I like dating and kissing" You can't honestly expect me to trust you actually support aromantic people when the only time you throw out support for aros is when you're saying "Aros can still date and enjoy romance!" because you want to ship an aro character.

I would trust Allo people more with aro characters if they stopped treating them like allo characters the moment they wanted them to kiss someone.

i didn't ship Lokius or see them as romantic in season 1, but even i knew Something Was Up when Mobius was the only person who was visibly disgusted (rightfully) and straight up jealous of Loki and Sylvie interacting or mentioning each other and got all petty, like damn dude, you're TERRIBLE at hiding that you want Loki to kiss you and spend time with you instead

He was a professional; that’s what he’d had to repetitively told his Dad when he was accused of going “mad”. It’s what he’d say to reassure his Mom, who in privacy asked if those men he killed suffered (no, no Mom, I’m a professional they don’t feel a thing. They don’t even know it happened- don’t cry Mom). It was a point of bragging on the rare occasion he’d spend time around his team.

Yet, with all the skills he had, he was struggling to now land a shot.

“What’re ya gonna do about it big man- yeah, yeah come at me!” The enemy Scout, who wasn’t even paying attention to him, was evading every fucking bullet.

He adjusted himself ever so slightly in his perch, maybe it was a bad angle. He pulled the trigger and-

It breezed by the man who seemed to dodge it without even thinking.

“That’s what I thought! Everybody wants a piece of this but can’t get any! Can’t catch me! Ahaha!”

He was running his mouth, drawing all the attention to himself, yet his jumps and constant movement left everyone falling over themselves trying to kill him.

He was like a fly. A buzzing, annoying, pest. Should be swatted and cursed at.

(He had a soft spot for insects, reptiles, and arachnids that others hated. Even mosquitos that tried to suck his blood and even flies that would try to land in his food.)

He watched him for the next half an hour, he was not mowing down his teammates but he was getting tricky shots off on them. He would “fall back”, seeming to retreat, only to use a back way to attack from a different corner.

He was brave (stupid) and was clever (lucky).

Sniper lined up his shot, he saw the opportune when Scout took a second to laugh at a dead Medic, and fired.

“Headshot” He whispered to himself.

The man fell to the ground limp but he knew it’d only be a matter of time when he was sprinting around again.

Sniper ignored the weird feeling that was blooming in his chest.
