This may seem like nothing special, but note how they're out in the open sunshine, almost naked, in an attitude that leaves no doubt at the fact that they're a couple. Name me another movie or show that shows a same-sex couple in such a relaxed, natural attitude.

They have nothing to hide.

To world-wide celebrities - Henry, who grew up in castles, and Alex, who spent these last years at the White House - retire into privacy in a simple, small house. They have each other, that's all they need.

This movie is marking a cultural change already now.

Not really a problem. This AU's supposed to be fun, it wouldn't be fun having to write 90% of characters and settings as vehemently and violently anti-gay. At the very least, bigotry still exists, but social progress is more similar to the 2010s, where queerness is more normalized.

I've seen someone say that aplatonic people should seek psychological help because they've faced difficulties making friends in the past and improved after undergoing treatment. Well, a few points:

1. Your experience is not universal

2. I can't form friendships because I get bored and apathetic very quickly. And I have no desire to make friends. Like, not a little bit. Aplatonicity isn't just "having difficulty in making friends" (although an aplatonic person may have this experience, aplatonic people are diverse)

3. There are people who don't feel platonic attraction but have friendships (just like feeling sexual attraction ≠ liking to have sex, feeling platonic attraction ≠ like making friends)

4. Not every neurodivergent person who cannot form friendships seeks or will be able to "get better"

5. Your experience is not universal

All these people out here picking apart every scene looking to "prove" that Buddie will happen obviously missed the scene where Tommy KISSES Evan and asks him OUT ON A DATE.

There's also the scene where Buck ACTIVELY seeked out Tommy at his job.

Tommy also called Buck ADORABLE and gave him space, so he didn't feel PRESSURED.

Buck also went over to Maddie's and GUSHED OVER HIS FEELINGS ABOUT THE HOT PILOT.

And let's not forget when BUCK ASKED TOMMY TO HIS SISTER'S WEDDING BECAUSE HE WANTS HIM THERE AND TO DANCE WITH HIM.

Lou Ferrigno jr said that we can expect the interactions between Buck and Tommy at the wedding to be "so cute" so please settle down.

Eddie and Buck will not be confessing love or having an accidental (or nonaccidental) romp in the sheets during the Bachelor party.

At some point Kazuki is going to vent to a mom from daycare about how hard parenting is and how he wished Rei helped more around the house and the woman is going to nod understandingly and ask Kazuki how long he and Rei have been married and Kazuki is going to give her a puzzled look and say "married? we're not even dating??", and that woman is going to laugh because haha turns out that Kazuki the failed stand-up comedian does have some good jokes after all.

the thing about rejoined is that star trek had often addressed issues of queerness and homophobia, but only ever in allegory and never explicitly representing actual queer characters. it would have been so easy for them to present the issue of reassociation as an allegory for homophobia but with kahn having a male host so that jadzia could still maintain her heterosexual presentation, but they didn't. it's a perfect example of alluding to today's societal issues while also representing the people affected by them.
