I saw that your requests were open and Im taking full advantage because of a dream I had. OKAY HEAR ME OUT- fem reader or gn reader whichever works best for you, platonic ofc The reader gets thrown into the whole SDC adventure and everyone lives! However the crusaders find out LAST MINUTE at the airport that the reader actually has NO WHERE to go. Something along the lines of Joseph asking "Hey Kiddo .. where do you need a ticket too?" And the reader was like "huh, oh idk whatever is cheapest" and the crusaders are like ????? "what the fuck" After asking the reader more questions because and also scolding them bc like "why didn't you tell us during the ENTIRE trip??" and the reader is like actually shocked and expressed they weren't expecting anyone to care, from the get-go, through everything, was expecting to have to move on even if they didn't want to? For this scenario Avdol and Joseph are hurt for the reader, but Avdol the most.. maybe you can fill in the blanks but in the end Avdol straight up adopts the reader?? Im a HUGE sucker for parental avdol bc he's literally the perfect Dad. Maybe bonus points if you include everyone's reactions? I can imagine all of them being shocked, sad for their friend who went through hell just to not have anywhere to go after that. ITS LIKE A LOT OF ANGST BUT WITH SOME SWEET MOMENTS AND A HAPPY ENDING
oh my goodness this idea is literally SO AMAZING! like, best dream ever! i love these everyone lives AUs, they make my soul sing! and seriously, the platonic reader is my favorite, so this request was literally perfect! thanks so much for the request anon! sorry if it took a while!

Tumblr media
You hugged onto Avdol’s arm knowing that it would probably be your last moments with him before moving on.
You were nothing but thankful for the Stardust Crusaders. They found you at a time in need. When you could’ve possibly been overtaken by DIO, they were right there, ready to help you and even willing to let you join. They meant the world to you. For the first time in your life, you felt like you had a home.
You looked up to everyone. They were all so strong. Without them, you wouldn't have the smile on your face like you did in Egypt. Even through the long and hard journey, they were right there with you helping you and leading the way for you to succeed and be happy.
“Alright kiddo, let me buy you a ticket,” Joseph whipped out his wallet and turned to you. “Where’s home for you?”
“Oh,” you let go of Avdol and looked at the flights they had available. “I don't really care, Joseph, just buy me whatever’s cheapest.”
Joseph let out a laugh. “Seriously kid, I'm not worried about the price! Where do you need to go?”
“I don't mind. Just ship me off to wherever.” You knew it was your last moments with them and you didn't want to get all sappy, so you hoped Joseph would just buy whatever so you can move on without a sob story even though you really felt like you should.
“What’s going on?” Kakyoin walked up and wrapped his arm around you.
Joseph turned to him and pinched the bridge of his nose. “y/n won't tell me where she needs to go.”
“y/n,” you turned to Jotaro who walked up to you, putting his hands in his pockets. “Do you even have anywhere to go?”
You couldn't help but tear up. “N-No… not really.”
Everyone turned to you, Avdol with tears in his eyes. “WHAT?!”
You shrugged and sat on the nearest bench. “Sorry I didn't tell you guys before… I just… I felt so at home with you guys that I didn't even think to tell you that I actually don't have a home. DIO gave me more of a home than I ever was in before and that says a lot.”
“Mon chéri!" Polnareff ran up to you and grabbed your chin softly. “Were you just afraid to tell us?”
You shrugged and hugged your knees. “I-I guess. I just… I didn't want to be taken away from you guys. And now we’re in the airport way sooner than I thought we would be and I don't want to go anywhere. I mean… I do, but I don't want to be alone again.”
Polnareff rubbed your back while Kakyoin was giving you example’s of places to live. Iggy licked your leg and Jotaro was agreeing with Kakyoin. All the while, Joseph and Avdol were trying to figure something out.
“y/n can't just live all by herself, Joseph!” Avdol didn't mind that there were tears running down his cheeks. “After all we have been through!”
“I mean, I can't take her because I have so much to deal with already! And I know that Jotaro and Kakyoin can't because they're so young. What about Polnareff?”
“I don't know. I think Polnareff needs some alone time after all of that. Plus, he’s adopted Iggy.”
“What about you, Avdol?”
The tears that once filled Avdol’s eyes stopped. “M-Me?”
“Yes you! You’re like a father to that girl!”
“But I-”
“Avdol,” Joseph placed his hand on Avdol’s shoulder, smiling at him. “I know you can do it.”
“You really think so?”
“I do.”
“I mean, Japan is super nice, but I've heard it’s a pretty difficult language to learn if you didn't grow up speaking it,” Kakyoin was still going on about the places you could move to when Avdol walked up. “And there’s also- Oh! Avdol! Have you figured out something for y/n?”
Avdol smiled and grabbed your hand. “y/n?”
“Y-Yeah?” Your dirt and tears stained face that smiled at him made Avdol know that he was making the right decision.
“Would you like to live with me?”
“L-Live with you?” Your eyes were glittering with tears.
“Yes. I'll adopt you. How does that sound?”
Before Avdol could even process anything, you threw your arms around him and sobbed in his arms. “Of course I want to live with you!!”
Avdol held you close and Joseph bought an extra ticket for you to go with Avdol.
You wouldn't have to worry about being alone any longer.

The Entire Group Having Feelings for the Reader Headcanons (Bucciarati’s Gang)
↳ Fem!Reader; pronouns aren’t specified but is written as a girl. Reader is around Bruno and Abbacchio in age. Their sexuality is undefined, but is written as liking women. It’s made clear the Reader is not interested in anyone on the team/doesn’t reciprocate anyone’s feelings.
Summary: Having once been the newbie on Bucciarati’s team, a certain amount of unwanted attention was to be expected from your peers. However, the reactions to your inclusion on the team were more than you bargained for.
Warning(s): None.
Tumblr media
The first one you’re going to catch harboring a little crush is most likely Narancia. Still young, he heard there would be a girl joining the group and his interest was immediately peaked. Weirdly enough, Bruno was quite keen on brushing past that fact.
One small comment from Giorno- feeling the need to point out how Narancia was considerably less friendly towards him his first week -and it was soon obvious to you what was going on here.
In all honestly, everyone knew right away and no one took it seriously. It was difficult for the others to not notice, considering Narancia would follow you everywhere and take every possible opportunity to include you in something.
The dismissiveness of his feelings also came from you yourself; to the point where it only ever crossed your mind if someone else made a jab at Narancia’s expense.
You did scold the others for making comments about it though, finding it insensitive. Sure, the age gap is a clear enough indication nothing will ever come of it, but you don’t go out of your way to be rude.
Only once did you have to not-so-subtly turn him down. He never really acted on it, but he did have the tendency to showing off for you whenever he could.
One particular occasion of him doing so, Fugo had made a snide remark at Narancia’s expense. “Oh, please, you’re only doing this because you like her. It’s embarrassing,” he told him outright.
Sensing a possible fight, you laughed it off and said affectionately, “Leave him alone! He’s just being sweet. Besides, nothing’s ever gonna happen. He’s like a brother to me.”
Could you have handled it better? Probably. Was that a blow to Narancia’s confidence? Definitely. Did it articulate your feelings in manner he could understand? Most certainly.
He’s a nice kid, you recall thinking on the matter, Someone’s gonna fall head over heels for him someday. Guys like him always find genuine love.
Little did you know at the time, there were other reasons as to why no one else took Narancia’s affections all too seriously.
The next one you noticed catching feelings was Mista. However, this time around the realization was abrupt and much more difficult for you to brush off.
Sitting next to him on Bucciarati’s couch, you’d been relaxing together one afternoon.
It was the first time you two ever had done so; much to your excitement. Your heart swelled with hope, internally eager to soon be considered a part of their little family.
Then he just had to try putting an arm around you.
Your attitude over responding to Mista’s advances is notable compared to the others, because he acts very specifically towards you. He openly and clearly flirts. And a forward approach warrants a forward rejection. It’s an attitude you remember Abbacchio positively commenting on.
You turned your head, hands motionless on your lap. Yet your eyes were fueled with firm resolve, a slight squint to them.
“No thank you,” is what you simply said, more than enough for him to remove his arm and even put a few more inches between the both of you.
That honesty is respected by him, though. It causes him to change his approach for a while. And at some point, he likely realized you’re not looking for anything like that from him.
Regardless, both him and Narancia still continue to follow you around like lost puppies. Clambering for your attention and approval.
The closeness at least formed a genuine friendship with the two, one that you truly hold dear. And if the lack of any confessions is any indication, they appreciate it as well.
And where those two go, Fugo is usually following close behind them with a sour look on his face.
You just had to laugh; the trio was certainly a force to be reckoned with. Narancia and Mista welcomed you with open arms, much to Fugo’s clear annoyance. He was put off by their quick acceptance of you, likely being one of the first to point out that it’s ‘because you’re a girl.’
What really seemed to set him off initially was that they started including you in the three’s tiny click within the group as a whole. Now it isn’t just the three of them anymore, there’s a forth person taking up space.
Wouldn’t suggest mentioning it to Mista or he may genuinely consider kicking Narancia to the curb.
Eager to please, as well as apologize for disrupting this friend group’s dynamic, you tried your hardest to see eye-to-eye with Fugo.
Fortunately, the only difficult part was finding things to talk about after some time passed and he begrudgingly accepted that you were there to stay. After that, it was a slow but natural progression.
Soon, he seemed to tolerate your presence much better. Then, he started instigating conversations with you instead of it strictly being the other way around. Once enough of a bond was established, you’d started getting the impression he would much rather spend time with you than the other two.
Like with Mista, the realization hit you while sitting right next to him. It was out of the blue, as Fugo hadn’t said a word to you that day. No, your mind was just wandering and happened to connect the dots.
Well, shit. You had laughed out loud, earning confused looks from the three around you.
You were honestly concerned; more so than with the others. You couldn’t brush it off as easily as you could with Narancia, as Fugo’s timidness on the matter could mean he’d just become upset. Couple that with his short temper, and you feared you could lose his friendship over it.
Your worries were proven to be unfounded, luckily. After some discussion with Narancia and Abbacchio, you learned Fugo doesn’t actually want anything from you.
You’re silently thankful, happy to coexist with him just as normal. He could have his little crush, and still hold onto a very real friendship. Quite mature of him, but never something you’d never compliment him on directly.
In fact, thinking of Fugo makes you reminiscent of Giorno’s admittedly weird style of approach.
By then you had said… what, maybe two or three sentences in total to the kid? But out of the blue, one morning, you passed him while leaving the house.
He stopped you in your tracks, holding out his hand in front of you and keeping you still. For a moment, he was silent. But before you could open your mouth and ask him “What’s wrong?” he beat you to the punch.
You… admittedly don’t remember exactly what he told you. Something poetic about your beauty… yeah. It was the type of sentiment that was thought out thoroughly beforehand.
Still, despite feeling guilty over not remembering, it’s easy to assume it doesn’t really matter. Considering he completely went radio silent on the subject afterwards.
Perhaps he just felt like he really needed to say something before moving on, you figured.
And honestly, credit where credit is due, both Giorno and Fugo kept their distance. Enough to express it was a simple crush and nothing more. You were glad you never had to vocally turn them down, because they already understood you weren’t the one for them.
You entertained the idea of them maybe bonding over it. Talking about girls while they braid each other’s hair, you giggled to yourself, amused by the thought.
Speaking of bonding, through almost it all, Abbacchio was your rock.
It was a rough start with him, no question. For the first couple of weeks he was very critical of your decisions on missions and outside of them rarely gave you even a passing glance.
But he gradually became your scapegoat when the others were tripping over themselves for your time. Even Bruno insisted on getting his far share of time with you.
You had came to Abbacchio first, confinding in him and taking his advice very seriously. That was something he appreciated. Abbacchio’s casual attitude was a breath of fresh air when you really needed it, and was surprisingly understanding of your viewpoint (The prospect of possibly upsetting Giorno’s got to factor into that, right?).
The two of you mostly spend time together one-on-one, whether in deep conversation or comfortable silence. The foundation of your friendship was born from complaining, but you found other subjects to focus on as well.
It was, with hindsight, the most shocking development yet. Out of everyone there, you weren’t expecting to become close to Abbacchio… ever, really.
The closer you got, the more you were able to appreciate his character. He’s got a surprisingly good sense of humor, and looks after everyone on the team more than he’s given credit for. Most of all, he’s a really good listener if you’re completely h-… Are you… are you kidding me? What is happening?
You actually doubted your guess this time around for a good while; it’s far too absurd! Abbacchio’s a reserved individual, so it wasn’t as noticeable after all.
But conversations with the others made it all too clear. They knew him better than you, and when it comes to Abbacchio, no one is going to lie about his feelings just for the sake of it.
Regardless, like Giorno and Fugo, he kept his lips sealed whenever you’re around.
You felt a good amount of guilt having vented to him in the past, but if he wasn’t saying anything, you weren’t going to either.
By the time you one day received word that Bucciarati wished to speak to you in private, you seriously contemplated ditching him entirely. However, you respected the man too much to do so.
It’s an ungodly hour, you point out helplessly to yourself. I have no idea what on earth he wants to talk to me about right now, and at this point I don’t even want to know.
Your mental ramblings pause in tandem with your feet, stopping firmly in front of your boss’s office door. You shiver, pulling your robe over your front to the point of overkill. Peaking between the bottom of the door and the floor below, you smile upon seeing light still illuminating from within.
Yes, it’s an ungodly time. But both Bucciarati and I work late at night often anyways, you reason. With that in mind, you knock gingerly.
You hear a gentle “Come in,” from within the room. Smiling, you already feel Bucciarati’s aura of comfort. Entering, you spot him hunched over behind his desk. A laptop sits open on its wooden surface, but his attention’s been turned away by now.
“Apologies for asking you to come here so late,” he chuckles, returning your pleasant expression.
“It’s not very professional of you, Capo,” you jest lightheartedly. Moving swiftly, you sit yourself down on a chair placed opposite to him.
“Fair enough,” he decides, crossing his legs. “How’s your day gone, tesoro?”
You hum, contemplating his question. It’s sweet; something he always asks whenever he can. Thinking of Abbacchio, then everyone else in turn, you barely give yourself another chance to breathe while you lay out all that you’ve experienced thus far.
You loved the team, but you’d be lying if you said everyone’s affection wasn’t getting to you a little. Most of all, you worried how their feelings could effect the team as a whole. And ever since discovering how Abbacchio feels, you haven’t had anyone to discuss it with anymore.
You weren’t sure if Bruno could really do anything about it. Hell, you didn’t know if you really wanted him to. Just to talk about it unfiltered was enough weight taken off your shoulders.
Minutes pass before your voice dies down, taking in short breathes. With wide eyes, you stare at Bucciarati expectantly. However, much to your discomfort, he remains silent. His head is tilted away from you and down at his desk, pupils remaining fixated in one position. It’s a clear sign he’s in deep thought, something you’re wary of disturbing.
A moment is too long for you to wait, quick to become self conscious over your word-vomit.
He clears his throat, catching your full attention once more. Adjusting the front of his collar, his eyes were glued to your own. During a mission it would be grounding, or maybe even a little intimidating. Any other time it would be comforting. Now, the nervous energy pouring from his person offers the exact opposite.
Quietly, he simply says, “…Maybe we should talk another time, then.”
At that point, you didn’t know why you were shocked. Leaving his office, there was no doubt.
Bruno was fair, not the type to ever play favorites with anyone on the team. But upon reflection, you realize he dotes on you in a special way.
Not only did he accept and voice your place on the team almost immediately, but he seemed to request your presence during peaceful moments just as much as anyone else in the group.
And by the time you new about everyone else, that should have been a dead giveaway.
Fights or arguments had over you is never something you’ve seen for yourself. According to Narancia and Abbacchio, they do happen. The how and why is kept so vague you almost believed they were just pulling your leg.
The last time it was talked about, there was no more room for doubts on whether or not they actually occurred.
Bruno happened to be present when Narancia was talking to you about it. He was quick to step in, downplaying whatever goes on during those arguments. After that, he silenced the discussion entirely.
You were a little disappointed the subject suddenly became taboo after that day, but was also quite grateful. It was clear he took your worries very seriously, considerate of your comfort with the rest of the team.
But time marches on, making the first year with Passione feel like a lifetime ago.
You long became a part of their found family, and the idea of the others crushing on you hardly ever floats around in your brain anymore.
And when it comes to the members you’re close to in age, all thoughts of “What if…” or “Just maybe…” eventually fizzle out from their minds as well.
How could they persist? Especially after one day, when you came home from a lunch out with an old friend of yours. Smiling wide and blushing from head to toe, you couldn’t help but cheerfully tell the group about the person you now happily call your girlfriend.

only one bed room
summary: it's the sdc and everyone's staying over at ramshackle but, oh no! you're one room and one bed short. being the generous (or gullible) soul that you are, you agree to share characters: all sdc competitors, separate additional info: fair warning I have no replayed book 5 in a while, reader is yuu, reader is gender neutral, rook is rook, most scenarios end in cuddles. can be interpreted as romantic or platonic (nix vil and rook's part)
Tumblr media
Deuce Spade
"I don't mind sleeping on the floor!"
it's a big fat no from Vil. waking up sore and tired is unacceptable, and will affect his performance during practice. he will use the bed, end of story.
you offer to take the floor or one of the many stiff and uncomfortable couches in Ramshackle, but he refuses
what kind of aspiring honor student would he be if he kicked you out of your own room?
so, yes, you end up sharing the bed
he's a perfect gentleman about it
he insists on sleeping on the complete opposite end of the bed
to give you your space, of course
not because he's nervous
obviously it doesn't pan out- he's kind of a messy sleeper, and on the first night you wake up with him sprawled on top of you
you decide not to wake him up
you'd been thinking about saving for a weighted blanket, anyway
Ace Trappola
"you better not hog the blankets,"
takes it like a champ, though he might be screaming internally
he already sleeps in a dorm with three other guys- this can't be any different, right?
it totally is
sharing a bed with someone? someone he likes, who he isn't just forced to live with for convenience?
he's not sure how to tease you about this one without coming off as nervous himself
so he just shuts his trap about it (for once) and accepts his fate
in the end, it's no big deal for a player like him
he ends up hogging the blankets, though. hypocrite.
Kalim al-Asim
"YAYYY SLEEPOVER!"
he means exactly what he says
not a care in the world
all he's thinking about is how fun this is going to be! just him and his favorite Ramshackle prefect (Grim heard the news and will be staying in deuce's room to avoid any cracker mishaps)
Kalim, admittedly, is not a creature of great thought. he tends to be dictated by his feelings, and he can be a little selfish sometimes
so when Jamil pulled him aside and asked him to just buy another bed for ramshackle, he ignored him entirely
why would he do that? the situation is resolved, and everyone's happy!
well... not everyone, but Kalim's happy!
he stocks up on Vil-approved snacks, insists you two braid each other's hair and stay up late into the night talking with no one to remind you to go to sleep
(he tried to invite Jamil and got the door slammed in his face)
this arrangement lasts approximately one night
when Vil sees the dark circles under your eyes, it's over
you are confined to the couch, and Kalim is forced to sleep alone
Jamil Viper
"okay,"
really. he's totally fine with it.
besides the fact that he doesn't want to cause any more trouble, he's shared beds with his siblings before. no big deal
he just wasn't expecting to wake up with you snuggled against him
but this is fine
totally fine
he's barely conscious and it's early morning, still dark, the time he's used to getting up at
Vil has things covered, right? he can stay here for a little while longer. it would be awkward trying to get up without waking you
it feels nice having something all to himself for once
he smirks, imagining how jealous everyone else would be:
the beautiful, kind, intelligent ramshackle prefect in his arms? oh, the looks on their faces would almost make this whole thing worth it!
but in the end, he decides to say nothing
he wants to keep you all to himself, after all
for just a little while longer
Epel Felmier
"ain't no way I'm sharing!"
that's what he says in his head, anyway. but it's late and he's worn out from practice (and being shouted at) so he just sighs and accepts his fate
of course Vil would make him do it. it's probably because he's the smallest, isn't it?
you can tell he's unhappy with the arrangement (not that he's making much of a secret of it- he's grumbling under his breath all evening)
he starts coming around to the idea when he wakes up holding something warm
his heart jumpstarts and he nearly panics before remembering where he is
and then he realizes the thing he's holding is... you. somehow the two of you had ended up spooning during the night
but, more importantly... he's the big spoon!
he's almost tempted to wake you to announce that he, in all his manly glory, had naturally assumed the most masculine cuddling position!
(yes he sounds ridiculous. just let him have this one)
he lets you sleep, though. just a little more won't hurt anyone, right?
he's okay with the arrangement after that
Rook Hunt
"I will do it!"
Vil isn't even able to finish his sentence before the vice housewarden is practically jumping up and down
pretty much everyone breathes a collective sigh of relief; a volunteer! thank the sevens. otherwise, this could get awkward...
of course, he quite intentionally ends up with you in his arms
but not for any nefarious purpose, he insists!
he's a light sleeper, and can be stirred by any sudden noise or movement
you appeared to be having some kind of nightmare
it reminds him of a small animal caught in a trap, struggling for its life. he can't bear to see it- it's cruel to let a poor creature go on suffering before you can make the kill
of course, instead of killing you (thank the sevens), he decides to comfort you
he presses your head against his chest so you can hear his heartbeat, and he runs his fingers through your hair until you calm down.
then he keeps you there, just to be sure you don't have another bad dream
if you gave him permission, he would gladly be all over you in seconds. kissing up and down your shoulders, caressing every perfect inch of your body, whispering words of admiration
but he's perfectly content just cradling you for now
hopefully, you will continue to have these nightmares and give him excuses to do this again
Vil Schoenheit
"don't argue with me,"
initially, you just gave him the bed
maybe you were afraid of him; maybe you like him; maybe you just wanted to avoid a conflict altogether
either way, you spent the first night on the terribly uncomfortable floor, and trudged through Ramshackle like a zombie the next morning
Vil was feeling guilty watching you
what? he's not a monster
and he's a leader, which means he has a responsibility. and you had so graciously invited them all into your home...
fine! he'll share. he insists, even
when you try to argue, he shuts you down, repeating all that stuff about responsibility and hospitality, blah blah
and he doesn't want the team manager dead on their feet
arguing with him is pointless, so you just agree
he wakes up with you against him, sleeping peacefully
now, if it were you clinging to him- he might have had a good chuckle. can't keep your hands to yourself, prefect? I'm just that irresistible?
but the way he's holding you, the way his arms are so tightly wrapped around your waist, the way he's so clearly pressing you against him...
he hates to admit it, but you're an elegant sleeper. it's almost cute
the tension is relieved from your face, your breathing graceful and steady, and your perfect lips open just a sliver...
he is a perfect gentleman, and would never dream of doing anything without your explicit permission, but for one shameful second he thinks about how easy it would be to kiss you
... and then he quickly puts those thoughts aside and tries to get back to sleep
he doesn't want any dark circles, after all

Tangled in Wonderland - A Simulation
author note: ... so this got out of hand and ended up being over 6500 words x-x really curious to see how you guys like it and react to the twist. i'm so anxious if you guys will enjoy it that i can't even right my usual rambly A/N!!
characters: Idia Shroud x GN!Reader, Ortho Shroud (Platonic)
Thump. Thump. Thump. Slam.
You sighed.
The sound of quarrelling which, through Ramshackle’s thin walls, sounded like it could be happening right next door to you.
The sound of a quiet but stern lecture, a voice full of authority that would not stand being questioned.
You rolled over in bed and checked the time on your phone. 7:00 am. On a Saturday. You groaned and rolled onto your stomach and buried your face in your pillow – not the best quality but comfortable enough – as Grim snored, spread out at the foot of the bed. You were pretty sure he could sleep through a hurricane.
Just why had you agreed to allow the NRC Tribe to stay here, again? Perhaps it was masochism?
But that didn’t do Vil any justice. He had warned you that tenacity was Pomefiore’s thing.
The morning after Vil had grandly declared that he had moved in was… Something. The best way you could describe it was that it played out like a fever dream. You had hoped it was, actually. You kept pinching yourself, hoping you’d wake up any moment. Of course, you didn’t.
You had woken the next morning to Vil knocking on your door. He was rather insistent, as he didn’t leave even when you ignored his knockings in favour of burying yourself further into the warm comfort of your bed. Finally, you dragged yourself out of bed and ripped open the door, glaring bleary eyed at Vil, who stood looking annoyingly immaculate for so early in the morning.
“I’ve prepared us some breakfast. I see you need time to get ready, but please do hurry. I have a schedule to keep.” Vil informed you, not even waiting for your response as he turned on his heel and walked down the hall. You grumbled and slammed the door shut, reeling both from the early morning veiled insult and the fact that somehow Grim had slept through it all, still snoring away peacefully on your bed.
You readied yourself as quickly as you could but took an extra few moments to smooth out your appearance more than you usually would. You’d be sitting opposite Vil Schoenheit after all, and you could really do without his comments this early in the morning.
You walked down to the lounge to see that Vil had indeed set the table up for breakfast. Mismatched bowls filled with yoghurt, berries, and some sort of… Seeds? A jug of orange juice also sat on the table, just enough for one glass each, along with a heartier jug filled to the brim with water. You had to admit, you hadn’t had such a healthy, well put together breakfast since you got there. Most days you had to forgo your breakfast entirely in order to stop Grim terrorising the school population before first period began. If this was Vil’s charm offensive, you could get behind it.
“This was the best I could do with your dorm’s… Limited implements,” Vil sighed as he drizzled a modest serving of honey on his own bowl of yoghurt before pushing the honey container towards you, “I would have brought my blender but I wasn’t if Ramshackle had running electricity.” Vil commented dryly, “does Crowley not ensure you have the needed facilities to live adequately? That man is shameless.”
Now this was a conversation you could get behind.
“Crowley doesn’t ensure anything ever.” You grumbled as you drizzled some honey onto your own yoghurt bowl under the watchful eye of Vil. The amount you put must have been satisfactory because he didn’t say anything, only began to mix his spoon in his own bowl.
“The prize money from the SDC would help change that. You could get yourself better kitchenware, maybe some more soft furnishings…” Vil began, and you rolled your eyes as you munched on some berries. Nice segway.
“Not interested.” You responded bluntly, although Vil didn’t seem too surprised by that. He picked up the orange juice jug, pouring you a glass first before filling his own, as manners would dictate. “Why are you so against the NRC Tribe staying here? You only stand to gain from doing so. Whilst there may be a bit of disruption, I’ve assured you that I would keep disruption to your routine to a minimum. I must say… I do find your stalwart refusal a little odd.” Vil stared hard at you now, and you tried not to visibly squirm from the intensity that he was studying you.
It seemed that all your efforts to not bring attention to yourself were doing the exact opposite in this situation. Vil found your behaviour odd, and Ace and Deuce had also found your behaviour odd when you didn’t attend the Pomefiore ballroom when you were requested to do so. It was rather annoying, actually, how all your hard work to be as unnoticeable as possible was turning out to be fruitless.
But if there was one thing you could rely on for a believable defence, it was the inherent selfishness of the Night Raven College students (and arguably, staff).
“Why should I go out of my way to help you? Regardless of what you offer, it sounds like a pain. I have to accommodate seven extra students? On top of all the trouble I get from Grim anyway? Sounds like a drag. Plus I enjoy having my own space.” You quipped back, your expression indifferent.
“Hmph. It seems like you fit in here more than you think.” Vil shot back sassily, an elegant eyebrow raised at your open self-centeredness.
All throughout breakfast you and Vil had an unproductive back and forth where he tried to gain some ground on getting the training camp to go ahead in Ramshackle. It was exhausting, but you managed to hold out long enough that breakfast was over and there was no reason to stay at the table any longer, for either of you. You were just leaving the lounge when there was a energetic knock on Ramshackle’s main doors. You sighed, wondering why someone else was now knocking on your door, but for all you knew it could be Ace and Deuce, wanting to walk with you to class. That reminded you that you needed to get Grim up too. Reluctantly, you walked towards the entrance, pulling one of the creaky doors open.
“Bonjo—”
You slammed the door shut.
“That was rude. Rook is here to walk with me to class. He also is delivering my blender.” Vil scolded, having followed you partially to the entrance, obviously predicting that it was Rook. You groaned loudly regardless of this, bumping your forehead lightly against the entrance door’s old wood. You had to deal with Rook Hunt now too? This was getting out of hand.
Grudgingly, you pulled open the door again, not bothering to mask your expression of displeasure as you stared at Rook, who stood with his usual enigmatic smile on your doorstep, with a blender tucked carefully under his arm.
“Ahh Trickster! How delightful your disgruntled expression looks first thing in the morning! Magnifique! Like a raging storm cloud threatening the blue skies! And Roi de Poison, as radiant as ever! Like the brightest of suns in comparison! Oh, how I wish I could burn this image into my mind forevermore!” Rook enthusiastically sang, and it was as if you could feel your mood plummeting in real time.
“Oh give it a rest…” You muttered under your breath, having to duck out of the way as Vil breezed past you and grabbed the blender off of Rook. “Yes, that is quite enough of that, Rook. There is no cloud on this earth that could threaten my shine.” Vil commented, disappearing back into Ramshackle to no doubt deposit his blender in the kitchen. “Of course not, beautiful Vil!” Rook eagerly agreed.
Now why were you catching back handed insults from both Pomefiore housewardens?!
You grumbled under your breath about this, but Rook didn’t seem to mind or care. He continued to smile at you, watching you with those ever-observing eyes.
“You seem agitated, Trickster! But might I say, you do look beautiful this morning. A fine colour to your cheeks and a wicked glint in your eye! I see that your shared breakfast with Vil has done wonders for your complexion and spirit already.” Rook continued, managing to look harmless and sly at the same time. Quite the feat.
How exactly did he know that you had breakfast with Vil?! Had he been watching you? You cursed internally, swearing to yourself that you’d buy some thick curtains for Ramshackle out of your next allowance. But knowing Rook, that wouldn’t be enough.
Instead, you glare at Rook and point a finger at him, which he watches with glee, as if he is enjoying the situation. “Stop talking.” You say firmly, and he holds his hands up genially, not at all offended at your shortness. In your opinion, Rook Hunt was a whole valid reason on why you didn’t want the NRC Tribe to stay at Ramshackle.
“Rook, it’s time for us to go. I don’t want to be late.” Vil declared as he strode out of Ramshackle, and you had to agree with Rook in that the run down exterior of Ramshackle didn’t take away from Vil’s shine in the slightest. It was quite amazing, and also kind of irritating. “You should leave shortly too, being late would be unbecoming of a dorm Prefect.” Vil sniped over his shoulder at you as he began to leave with Rook. Rook gave you a hearty parting wave, “farewell, Trickster! I do hope to be sharing a dorm with you soon!”
Not at all ominous, thank you Rook.
“And don’t forget about Grim.” Vil called, not even bothering to turn towards you as he continued on in the direction of Night Raven’s main school building.
Oh, damn it. Grim! You rushed back upstairs, on a mission to get Grim out of bed and out of Ramshackle before you were late and Crewel chewed you both out again.
After that, Vil was a semi-permanent fixture at Ramshackle. He would return in the evenings, no doubt after running the NRC Tribe ragged during practice, and then he would put you through your paces. He’d critique most of the things you did, and it wasn’t like his words of advice were unhelpful, it just didn’t help that they were delivered with the trademark Schoenheit sass. More often than not you were left reeling because he delivered his flyby judgments with such poise and poison, you were suddenly gaining a new appreciation for poor Epel.
Eventually you relented and agreed to allow the NRC Tribe to stay at Ramshackle until the SDC, but under very strict conditions. You would be receiving Vil and Rook’s share of the prize money if they won. You were not to be disturbed under any circumstances by the members of the NRC Tribe, and they were strictly forbidden from entering your bedroom. Groceries would be provided for the duration of the training camp. You also made it clear that you would not be responsible for any shenanigans that Grim pulled off during their stay, so not to even bother pestering you about it. And lastly, you would not be attending the SDC.
It was a difficult decision for you to make, but you realised that with Vil hounding you about allowing the NRC Tribe to stay, you were perhaps interacting with Vil way more than you potentially would during book five’s story path. A foul thought crossed your mind, Vil overblotting because negotiating with you had eaten into his preparation time for the SDC. At least with these conditions, you effectively minimised your role in book five to pretty much nothing, and if book five’s story decided to run its course like normal, then it was nothing to do with you.
Vil had stared at you with a knowing look when you first came to him telling him that you would agree for the training camp to go ahead, but his face slowly fell into a judging frown once you got to the end of your conditions.
“You don’t want to see your friends perform at the SDC? You do realise this is one of the biggest events of the school calendar? There might not ever be another opportunity for you to witness such a spectacle, let alone one that your friends are performing in. Not to mention… They’ve been working so hard.” Vil questions you, his tone almost scolding, and his eyes wrought with curiosity as to why you’d be so callous to the two who you’d known the longest since arriving here.
You kept your expression indifferent, giving an excuse that loud spectacles weren’t your thing. You did feel bad that you would miss Ace and Deuce’s big moment, but there was no way you could allow yourself to get dragged into a potential overblot situation again.
Of course, all of that felt meaningless now, considering that they weren’t even complying with the conditions that you had set out.
You could vaguely hear Ace complaining to Deuce about having to be up so early despite Vil technically giving them the morning off, whatever that meant. You hoped that the voices would eventually die down and you could get a couple hours more sleep, but the banging, thumping and voices went on and on. You even attempted to pass sometime by playing around on some mobile games that you had downloaded, a guilty pleasure that was a temptation too hard to resist when Crowley gave you the phone. But the noise never abated, and with a disgruntled sigh you got out of bed and decided to get ready for the day.
It felt weird being on campus so early in the morning on the weekend. It was mostly empty, which you assumed had to do with most students forgoing breakfast to sleep in, although there were a few early risers milling around campus. Some were heading towards the gates, likely heading out to town, whilst others made their way to the many other facilities that Night Raven had to offer. You yourself had decided to visit the mystery shop on a whim, thinking you could pick up a snack or two for during your breaks at the library.
You were walking up the path towards the shop when some… Large boxes came floating out the door… You stopped in your tracks, blinking several times. Were you that tired that you were seeing things now?
“Sorry Prefect, I don’t want to accidentally bump you!” Said a chipper voice coming from behind the boxes, startling you and making you hop out of the way. Behind the boxes was one Ortho Shroud, and suddenly the floating made sense. Not so much the boxes, though.
“Ah, my brother got a little caught up yesterday and forgot to do his usual food order, so I came to the mystery shop to pick up a few supplies to tide us over!” Ortho told you as he saw you eyeing up the boxes in his arms in confusion. He floated towards you where you stood off the path, and gently placed the boxes down, and they were nearly as tall as you were! Just a few supplies?!
“What are you playing?” Ortho asked enthusiastically, and you belatedly realised that you had one of the mobile games you had downloaded open on your phone, and muscle memory made you want to close it down immediately, but Ortho’s big, excited eyes made you feel too guilty to do so.
“Oh, uh… It’s just a game I downloaded, I don’t know much about it…” You fielded awkwardly, hoping to brush the topic away but Ortho only floated closer to get a better look at the screen.
“My brother plays that one too!!” Ortho gushes with glee, the sudden burst of elation catching you a little off guard. Really? This didn’t seem like Idia’s type of game… You swear you vaguely remember him saying he wasn’t that into dating sims… Although, you did suppose this one wasn’t a conventional dating simulator at the very least.
“But what happened to your screen?” Ortho asked, ripping you out of your thoughts, his head tilting to the side curiously. Now that did make you lock your phone to attempt to hide your shamefully cracked phone screen. Kalim, that’s what happened, you thought dryly. “Oh it’s nothing,” you said quickly, “I just had a small accident with it. It still works just fine!”
“Let’s get my brother to fix it!”
Oh no.
Ortho was beaming at you, eyes sparkling at the idea. You could feel your heart sinking.
“Oh no, no. I wouldn’t want to bother him! It’s totally fine, I promise!” You said hurriedly, hoping to derail the idea and make a quick escape, but it seemed like the idea had already firmly taken root in Ortho’s brain.
“It wouldn’t be a bother! My brother is really good with machines, he’ll get it fixed in no time! Plus, you two can talk about that game together! I’m sure he’d love to know there was someone else on campus who likes the same game as him!” Ortho encouraged.
Ah. So that was what this was about.
Book six had Ortho really encouraging Idia to share his gaming interests with the other students at Night Raven. Considering that the Ignihyde chapter was the next in line after book five, it did make sense that Ortho was taking this coincidence and running with it, considering you had just made it a thousand times easier for him to do so by just happening to like the same game as his beloved brother.
… But how were you supposed to say no to those eyes?! How were humanoids allowed to have such heart wrenching eyes?! It wasn’t fair.
You chewed on your bottom lip in indecision. It would be useful to get your phone screen fixed, even to stop Vil’s sassy barbs that he kept firing at you whenever he caught sight of it (something something “your belongings are a reflection of you” something something, blah blah). And this was Idia you were talking about here. He would probably freak out as soon as Ortho brought you to his room, fix the phone as quickly as possible and kick you out. Win, win?
“Okay, sure.” You relented, watching as Ortho lit up even more at your positive response. You swear you saw his hair get brighter. “But I can’t stay for long, I have other things planned for today.” You stated firmly, giving yourself an escape plan if needed. Ortho still seemed delighted regardless, moving once again to pick up those ridiculously large boxes he had been carrying. You followed suit, picking up the box from the top of the pile, much to Ortho’s surprise.
“It’s okay, I can carry them!” Ortho assured, but you shook your head, adjusting your grip on the box. It was a little heavy, but nothing you couldn’t handle. “Nah, I can’t let you carry them all by yourself. Besides, this is the least I can do if you’re going to fix my phone for me.” You remarked casually, beginning to walk with Ortho towards the Hall of Mirrors.
“You’re very kind, Prefect.” Ortho hummed, seeming quite taken with your courteous gesture.
The walk to the Hall of Mirrors from the mystery shop wasn’t long, and as you stepped through the Ignihyde mirror, you realised that you’ve never actually really seen the inside of the Ignihyde dorm. Sure, the game lets you buy Ignihyde backgrounds such as the entrance and the lounge, and you can get Idia’s dorm room as a background on his birthday, but other than that, the Ignihyde dorm has largely been a mystery compared to the other dorms. You had no idea what to expect.
It was… Very white. And shiny. Kinda made you wish you had brought a pair of sunglasses. The hallways were deserted, and you felt like you stood out like a sore thumb. You suddenly started to feel uneasy about the whole thing.
You followed closely behind Ortho as he led you to Idia’s dorm room, not trusting yourself not to get lost. He seemed to know exactly where he was going, even with the boxes he was carrying partially obscuring his view.
“Ortho, are you sure this is okay?” You asked, unable to hide the unease in your voice. Ortho didn’t stop, continuing to float along the hallways and making turns where necessary. “Don’t worry, Prefect! It’ll be fun! We’re almost there!” He insisted, and you very much felt that you and Idia were about to be in for a very unfun time. Ortho suddenly turned and opened a door that you would have missed if it wasn’t for him, as it blended into the wall so well.
“Idia, I’m back!” Ortho announced, floating in nonchalantly. You followed awkwardly, managing to bump the door closed behind you and place the box you were carrying on top of the other ones that Ortho had left by the wardrobe.
You took a moment to glance around the room. It wasn’t… As messy as you thought it would be. Wow, the background you can buy in the game really doesn’t do it any justice. That or Ortho cleaned up.
“Ah Ortho! Come check this out! I finally beat the final boss in that boss rush and got some cool new— Gah!!”
Idia had swivelled in his chair to look at Ortho but saw you instead and almost tumbled straight out of it with the way he flinched backwards, face morphing into terror. You gave him a small smile and waved awkwardly, but that only seemed to make it worse.
“I invited someone over!” Ortho stated cheerfully as Idia ducked behind the high back of his chair to avoid being seen. Rather fruitlessly too, considering you could still see his characteristic flaming hair.
“I-I can see that, Ortho! W-w-why did you invite an extrovert into my room?!” Idia complained, trying to keep his voice low but not really succeeding. The interaction was so odd to watch that you wondered if you should leave but settled for looking away instead. Ortho didn’t seem bothered at all, smiling at Idia like nothing was wrong.
“This is the Prefect from Ramshackle! I ran into them at the mystery shop, and they helped me carry our shopping back! Wasn’t that kind of them?” Ortho rambled on, floating over to his brother. Idia seemed to pluck up the courage to peek over his chair to get a better look at you, prompted by Ortho’s words, but when you looked back towards him, he shot back down in his chair, the ends of his wispy hair turning bright pink.
Wait, was he blushing?
“B-but Ortho…” Idia stammered out, but it seemed that Ortho had no mercy for him today.
“The Prefect’s phone screen is broken, and I told them that you could help fix it!” Ortho piped up over Idia’s stammering, his smile taking no prisoners, “you can help them, right Idia? Something so simple won’t even take you ten minutes.” Ortho encouraged, beaming smile still on his face.
Talking tech seemed to kick Idia out of his fluster somewhat, and you could hear Idia’s back thump against his chair as he opened one of his desk drawers and started rifling through it. “Tch, typical normies with no protection on their device, then crying when it gets bodied. So noob coded…” Idia muttered under his breath like he’d forgotten you were right there as he finally found what he was looking for, pulling the kit he was looking for out of his drawer and placing it on his desk.
Ouch.
He pushed his keyboard back, assumedly making space to him to work. “Gimme. The quicker I fix it, the quicker they leave, right?”
“Prefect isn’t a normie! They play the same game as you!” Ortho retorted and you cringed, as you sincerely hoped that wouldn’t get brought up into conversation before you could leave. But apparently, Ortho had taken it upon himself to defend your honour from his brother. Lucky you.
“Show him, Prefect!” Ortho compelled you, and you would almost find it funny how he was basically strong-arming Idia to have an interaction if it didn’t involve you. You sighed internally, powerless to Ortho’s big eyes, and walked slowly towards Idia’s desk, loading the game up on your phone. You held it up, arm outstretched so you didn’t get too close and give the guy a heart attack.
“It’s this one. I don’t play much, but this is the game I play the most. I at least make sure to login every day to get the bonuses and stuff…” You mumbled awkwardly, not actually understanding why you felt so awkward either. It wasn’t like it was a big deal. But suddenly your phone was snatched from your hand, and you were startled to see that Idia had grabbed it.
“You play this too?! I’m so into this at the moment. How far are you in the story? What cards do you have? Who is your favourite? Ugh, this screen totally kills the vibe. Hang on, let me just…”
You blinked in surprise as Idia rapidly fired off multiple questions about the game at you before putting your phone on his desk and hunching over as he got to work. It was like he was a completely different person. You knew it was the case that he could become very lively when he got to talk about his hobbies and interests, but seeing it happen in person was… Truly something. You looked between him and Ortho, with Ortho looking absolutely delighted about the interaction, and gesturing for you to take a seat on Idia’s bed whilst he worked.
“Oh, uh… I’m not very far in the story, I cleared the prologue but that’s about it. I don’t get the chance to play often… I don’t get many chances to roll the gatcha either, I never have any currency…” You answered. You didn’t really know any of the characters well enough to say what cards you had or who your favourite was, so you kept quiet on that.
“Sounds like you’re still in noobville. I’ll teach you how to play, but first I have to… Whee hee hee…” Idia volunteered, his voice pittering out as he got more entranced on working with your phone. The room lulled into silence, and you began conversing with Ortho instead, random giggles and mumbles from Idia in the background as you and Ortho chatted. Midway through one of your conversations with Ortho you noticed that Idia had been working on your phone for way longer than ten minutes. Now, you had no idea how long it took to replace a phone screen, you were no engineer. You also factored in that Ortho could have just been bigging up his brother’s ego when he said it would only take him ten minutes, but did it really take that long to fix? It felt like you had been in here way over an hour…
Ortho was projecting some clips of his favourite video games when Idia finally swivelled around, brandishing your phone with a manic grin.
“The freshly refurbished Prefect Custom Gamer Deluxe! I replaced the screen and reinforced it so it won’t break again but still has high grade touch screen sensitivity. I upgraded the battery to a larger capacity model so that you can game for longer, and of course a 2TB memory card. The original memory was awful, where did you get it? Sam’s bargain basket? Kek.” Idia gushed about your newly juiced mobile, fully in his element, “I didn’t know what your preferred colours are, so I didn’t add any custom lights. Blue’s good, though.” He commented, and that is when he finally caught you blinking at him, staring rather blankly.
“… Did you get any of that? Sigh, noobs OTL…”
You didn’t want to look a gift horse in the mouth, so you quickly snapped yourself out of vacant stare and quickly spoke, “I think so… It means I won’t have to delete anything to update my games anymore, right?”
That seemed to be enough, because he was smiling that startingly sharp toothed grin again. “Exactly.”
The room fell into silence again, with Idia seeming to realise that he’d burst out into a rave about his interests. He held out your phone towards you awkwardly for you to take, and you stepped forward quickly to take it, but Ortho was faster.
“Show the Prefect your cards on the game you both play!” Ortho insisted cheerfully but forcefully, clearly not willing to let this interaction between you and Idia ends just yet. You don’t know if it was because it was a game, or because he had been suitably warmed up from the tech talk, or Ortho’s wide, eager eyes. Maybe even a combination of all three, but either way, Idia agreed.
“So… Uh… Did you hear all the aggro online about what’s happened?” Idia muttered as he waited for his game to boot up. It booted up a lot faster than yours usually did. Is that what he did to your phone? If so, you weren’t going to complain.
 “Can’t say I have…” You answered honestly, and Idia scoffed lightly under his breath. “Oh right. I forgot you’re a casual.”
Why did it sting when he said it like that?!
Idia spent some time giving you some tips on free ways to get in game currency so you could roll on the gatcha more, and even recommended some social media accounts you could follow to get information on future events so that you could plan your resources and gatcha rolling accordingly. It was… Pretty helpful, actually. It was oddly nice to just chat innocently about a hobby for once, instead of constantly having to have your guard up in case someone tried to screw you over.
Idia made you boot up the game on your own phone (which you were pleasantly surprised to notice loaded up just as quickly as his own) and took a look through your card collection. He wasn’t impressed (“do you even statgrind?”) but gave you some advice regardless on who your best cards were and the more effective way to power them up, so you didn’t get locked out of the story when you progressed.
“Now show them your cards, Idia!” Ortho suggested yet again. You hadn’t missed his thrilled expression as you and Idia had been chatting, realising that he was likely delighted that Idia was talking to someone in person for once. But he was being awfully pushy about Idia showing you his card collection, even when the conversation didn’t need to be facilitated by him…
The tips of Idia’s hair went bright pink yet again, and you couldn’t resist raising a brow. What was he so embarrassed about? They were just cards, right? Idia tucked his chin in, turning his screen away suddenly. “I-I-I don’t know, my collection is pretty a-average…”
“No way! You have so many cards, show them!” Ortho tugged on Idia’s arm, with Idia trying to hide his phone in his lap, “or I’ll just project your cards for the Prefect to see!”
Idia sat up straight, looking very panicked at Ortho’s oddly specific threat. “O-okay, okay! Let me just…” He tapped away at his phone, and you had no idea what he was doing, but eventually he turned the screen back to you, showing you his card collection in all its glory.
Wow. He had tons of SSR cards. Even some UR cards… By the look of it, he seemed to only go for the ultra-rare cards of the same characters, so they must be his favourites. You looked at his card collection, nodding appreciatively and making a comment here and there, but otherwise you didn’t really have much to say. Idia’s hair was still tinged pink, and even his cheeks had an awkward half blush for reasons that escaped you.
Out the corner of your eye you saw Ortho staring at you rather insistently, as if he was urging you to keep the conversation going. Just why were you allowing yourself to be exhorted by this kid? Clearly, Ortho Shroud’s powers of compulsion know no bounds.
“Who is your favourite character?” You blurted out, hoping that would satisfy. To your surprise, Idia’s hair burned brighter, the pink flaring up at your question.
“O-oh, um… I-i… I can’t show you, because of… You know, all that aggro online…” Idia mumbled under his breath, looking down at his lap. What was up with him?
Either way, now your curiosity had been piqued.
“Tell me about the drama.” You asked, although you supposed it came out sounding more like a demand. Idia looked up at you suddenly, staring at you for a long moment, “… a-are you sure? It’s pretty long…” He mumbled, and you nodded anyway. Perhaps this would finally satisfy Ortho and then you could make your exit.
Idia’s demeanour entirely changed again, his elbows landing on his knees and he leaned towards you, his hands caging his phone. “This has been big news in the community. Like, God tier discourse. Everyone has come together to try to figure out what is going on, scrubs and tryhards alike. People have been mining the data files, I’ve tried hacking the serv—”
“Wait, wait, wait!” You stopped him, waving your hands to get him to slow down, “tell me what happened before you talk fandom dramatics.” Idia rolls his eyes but acquests.
“So a couple of months ago, something happened to the game. I’m not talking a limited time event or anything like that. I’m talking one day, every logged in for the next daily login period, and a character was missing.” Idia informed you, and you raised your eyebrows at this.
“Like, gone?” You questioned, and Idia nodded, frantically enough that his wispy hair bounced a little. You scratched your cheek, finding yourself slightly intrigued in this despite just doing it to get Ortho off your back. “I don’t think I follow what you mean…” You admitted, almost a little sheepishly, “how can a character just be gone? Wouldn’t you still have their cards?”
Idia, to his credit, didn’t seem to be bothered by you not following, only nodding along eagerly with your train of thought. “Right? But that is where it gets even weirder…” Idia begins to tap at his phone again, changing the filters on his card collection before turning the screen back towards you again, “because the cards are still there, but the character is missing.”
The sight was eerie, almost ominous. You deduced this character must be one of Idia’s favourites, considering how many cards he had, all maxed out. It made sense why he was so invested. But the cards themselves, they were…
Empty.
The cards were still there, in his collection. The background of the cards was still visible, even the other characters that appeared in the art were still there. But the character the card belonged to? Gone. Just an odd, inky smudge left in their place.
“That’s…” You couldn’t finish your thought, finding yourself at a loss for words at the bizarre, oddly chilling sight.
“Right?!” Idia hissed, really getting into the conversation now.
“Surely it must be some sort of event, right? Something to do with the story?” You tried to reason, and Idia shook his head wildly.
“That’s what we all thought, at first! Maybe they were springing some big event on us that none of the info trading accounts had managed to dig up. Sure it was a bit early for a Halloween event, GG developers, but it wasn’t like that hasn’t happened before.” You nodded along to Idia’s logic, this was exactly what you had assumed. The creepy feel of the cards definitely gave a Halloween vibe.
“But the official game pages never posted anything about it. And they weren’t responding to comments or messages about it either. So, we started to wonder if it was an update gone wrong, or a bug, and the devs were going to patch it. But still, we heard nothing from any official channels.”
You were staring at Idia, transfixed by this odd phenomenon. You’d never had anything of the sort happen in any of the games you had ever played, that’s for sure.
Idia’s cheeks flared a little pinker as he continued, “I-i have every one of that character’s cards, so I was able to check that it wasn’t just one card that had the issue, it was all of them. Other players reported the same issues, so that’s how we knew it was a game wide issue. The devs finally issued a statement, some vague BS about how they would be troubleshooting some issues with the game but not exactly what they were trying to fix. I personally think the devs have no clue what’s going on. Which is stupid, who doesn’t know what’s happening with their own software? Is it amateur hour over in that studio…” Idia finished, starting to mutter under his breath.
You mulled all this information over. Wow, clearly fandom drama in Twisted Wonderland was way more over the top than in your world.
“That’s really… Wow.” You hummed, which you thought summed up the situation quite well. You were pondering over it, eyes back on your own phone as you opened your card collection back up. You guessed you hadn’t noticed because you hadn’t rolled any of that specific character’s cards in the gatcha. You were kind of grateful, actually. It probably would have given you a fright.
“Uh…” You heard Idia hum, and you looked up at him, seeing him watching you with an apprehensive expression, “I have something to show you, if you want to… See… But you might find it weird…” He said slowly, his posture more hunched than before.
“Oh, okay?” You nodded, waiting for him to continue. You wondered if you were making him uncomfortable and had overstayed your welcome, considering Idia was starting to become more withdrawn again. His social battery was probably starting to go flat. You’d leave after this, you decided. Maybe quicker, if he was going to show you something really weird.
“The character is gone from the game’s cards, but they still appear in promotional materials that were posted online. Do you… Want to see?” Idia asked hesitantly, and whilst you found the way he asked the question a little odd, you had no reason to decline.
“Sure, why not? I feel like I’m invested now.” You smiled at him, but he didn’t smile back, only turned his gaze to Ortho. “Ortho, can you project the promotional art?”
“Easy! Searching promotional art… Loading… And, done!”
… … …
You felt your blood run cold instantly and you couldn’t stop the look of petrified horror that froze upon your face.
Projected onto the muted walls of Idia’s bedroom, in crystal clear clarity, was the promotional art of the character that Idia had been telling you about, just as he had asked Ortho to do. There was no inky smudge replacing their appearance, and they were posed rather dramatically, the norm for promo art. But something about it had your heart stopping in your chest and your hands trembling in your lap…
The promotional art…
The promotional art looked exactly like you.

Marigold: often used during festivals like Diwali and Navratri, marigolds symbolize purity, auspiciousness, and the divine.
You were going to murder him.
“Heyyyyyy Prefect!” Ace gave you a cheeky grin as he held your glass bottle of very expensive salicylic acid serum, balancing it precariously between his fingers. “What about this? Can I take this—whoops!”
“ACE!”
You shrieked as the bottle slipped from his fingers, only to be caught by his other hand, an infuriating grin still on his hand.
“Hehe, relax! I’m just messing around—oh shit!” The bottle slipped again from his fingers as a now panicked Ace scrambled to capture it. “Oop. Got it. It’s fine.”
“Oh my gooooooooood, Ace, I’m going to fucking kill you, give that back!” You snatched the bottle from his hands, giving him a good kick behind the knees as you walked past him.
“Owwwww, Prefect, why are you so mean to me?” Ace pouted as you put your serum back on your desk with the rest of the skincare Vil had gifted everyone at the start of the SDC training. Ace continued whining as he packed his bags to go back to Heartslabyul, being left behind by Deuce who went to get snacks from Sam’s with Epel.
He felt bad that all the food you had was cursed by Vil at the beginning.
“It’s almost like you want me out of your dorm, kinda rude, you know.”
“You know what’s rude?” You smacked down the pillow Ace threw your way as you huffed, “Your face. Ugly ass, you know you had a room next door, how’d all your stuff end up in my room?”
Ace shrugged as he shoved his wrapped up sweater into the now bulky backpack he’d brought over, throwing himself onto your bed and grunting as he bounced on the squeaky frame.
“I don’t know, how’d you burn the Queen of Hearts’s statue—”
“That was you—”
“—the world will never know.”
You rolled you eyes as you laid on your stomach next to him, hugging a spare pillow to your face. Closing your eyes, you sighed as the events of the last few weeks replayed in your head. Between acting as manager for the SDC group, to barely keeping up with classes, to Vil’s overblot, you were utterly exhausted. Speaking of Vil…
“Ah, that’s right, I should check on Vil before he leaves. I wonder if he’s doing okay?”
“With you at his beck and call? Perfectly fine, I guarantee you.” Ace yelped as you smacked his side, giving him a red-faced glare.
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
Ace turned on his side with a teasing smirk. The kind of smirk he gave you whenever he wanted to fluster and embarrass you in front of your friends and teachers.
“It means whatever you want it to mean. Maybe someone should consider not acting like a little kid with a crush whenever they’re around Vil—owowowowowow—stop hitting me!”
You pounded your fists onto Ace’s sides and back as he tried to roll away from your reach, arms cradling his head in meek protection. He managed to roll off the bed, turning over to look at you briefly to stick his tongue out and politely flip you off. Ace let out a small shriek as you launched off the bed after him, running out of the room into the hall and turning into a goosechase. You could practically hear the yakety sax song playing in your head as the two of you pushed past Jamil and Kalim, the former crying out at you in annoyance.
“Watch it!”
Ace practically threw himself down the stairs, jumping past four whole steps, using the banister to whip him around into the main hallway where he ran into the living room. Finally catching up to him, Ace positioned the coffee table between you two as he continued egging you on.
“Ayeeeeeee, embarrassed Prefect? Gonna throw a fit?” Ace let out a low cackle as you both shifted around the table.
“Gonna throw your ass into the fucking sun, little bitch ass! You got something to say then fucking say it!”
Ace snorted as he pointed behind you. “You’re one to talk, you wanna talk about the marigolds coming from behind you? It’s like you’re growing a garden out of your ass, wanna talk about that?”
“The fuck? I haven't been growing marigolds out of my ass. The hell you’re talking about,” You turned your head to look behind you, still growling at him now with confusion. “Why would you even ask that—WHAT THE FUCK!?”
You hissed as you jumped backwards into the table, the edges jamming into your skin. Behind you had been a long trail of beautiful, shimmering orange flowers. Upon closer inspection, you were pretty sure they were marigolds.
“...Ace, this is your fault.”
“What! Nuh-uh, I’m not the only with flower sickness—”
“The fuck is flower sickness?”
“You know, hanahaki? The love disease? How do you not know what flower sickness is, it’s like basic 8th grade bio—”
“I didn’t go to school here, dumbass!”
Ace’s mouth formed an ‘oh’ shape as he remembered. “Oooooh yeah, I forgot.”
“Forgot what? You little potatoes are acting awfully rowdy so early in the morning.”
You looked up to see Vil standing in the hallway, a bemused Rook behind him inspecting the flowers on the ground. Vil briefly made eye contact with you, both of your sharing a small smile before an irritating, itchy feeling made its way in your throat.
You felt a hand pack your back as you started roughly coughing up several bunches of marigolds into your hands as Ace grimaced.
“I forgot that they’re not from here, so they got no clue about hanahaki…or any other illness…huh it’s kinda a miracle they haven’t gotten sick from something else yet.” Ace hummed, as he leaned down to look at your face.
You made eye contact with your peripheral vision, motioning Ace to lean closer into you and horasely whispered, “Come… closer…”
Confused, Ace obliged, ear up to your lips, giving you the perfect opportunity to sock him straight in the gut. Your dear, beloved friend gagged from the pressure, hands cradling his stomach as he fell to his knees, groaning in pain.
“Y/N…” Vil sighed in exasperation, walking over to give you a gentle flick in your forehead as he chastised you.
“It’s unbecoming of a friend of mine to be so belligerent, do you really have to be so crass with all your friends?”
You clicked your tongue, licking the spit from your lips. “I’m not with you, besides Ace deserves it, you know how he is.”
“Mm-hmm, and how long have you been coughing out the flowers, meine Süße?”
A pleasant warmth flooded your cheeks at the nickname. You choose to ignore the tickling sensation of marigolds growing from the tops of your head, which instead formed into sneezing fits.
“I've heard of wearing your heart on your sleeve, but wearing petals in your hair is a whole new level of fashion statement.” He remarked, leaning down to observe the blooms. “Now, answer my question, meine Süße.”
“Achooo! Ugh,” You sniffled as you replied, “Um, not that long—achoo!—ago, ugh. Just today—”
“Ah! The little trickster started expelling the belles fleurs approximately a month and a half ago!” Rook chirped, a little too happily for your tastes. “Two weeks after we began training for the SDC.”
Vil let out another sigh as you whipped your head to glare at Rook, hissing out, “What. The. Fuck.”
“Excuse me?! Language Y/N!” Vil barked at you, making you flinch and burst into another coughing fit. Noticing this, he softened his voice, though the blonde still sounded angry.
“That’s nearly two months with the flower sickness, have you been taking potions to help with the symptoms?”
You shook your head, clearing your throat. “Ahem, no, uh. I didn’t know that there was medicine for this kinda thing, haaaaa I just figured I was being pranked by someone.”
You heard a snort behind you as Ace stood back up, grumbling, “Of course you would, dumbass.”
“I will actually kill you—”
“You will actually not.” Vil placed a gentle hand on your upper back, guiding you to the front door. “Rook, ensure everyone packs up and cleans their mess by the time we get back, I believe Kalim may still need help packing up.”
“Oui! How kind of you Vil to escort our lovely Trickster to get them a remedy for their affliction!”
Rolling your eyes, you let Vil guide you out of the dorm, calling out to Ace, “Don’t forget to grab the rest of your stuff, it’s still in my room!”
“Okayyy!”
With that, the door shut behind you two as you began a pleasant walk over to what you assumed would be Sam’s shop. A pregnant silence fell over you two as you walked down the pathway leading to main street, having to maneuver past the alchemy building and botanical gardens. You were hyper conscious about his hand that remained on your back, which is when you started another coughing fit.
“Oh you poor dear, did you really have no clue what was going on all this time?” Vil spoke to you in that soft tone that he’d been reserving for you since you first became friends, a few months ago. You’d gone into the Film Research Club interested in working as a stagehand, plus you had a good working knowledge costume design and general clothes repair, which was sorely needed.
It’d been an incredibly rocky acquaintanceship at first, as Vil made subtle, snide remarks on your disheveled appearance, while you shot back with loud, brass comments on his ‘Regina George wannabe’ act. Now, he didn’t know who Regina George was back then, but took offense that a ‘dirty, lumpy potato would have the audacity to insult him’.
He only kept you on in the club because no one ever willingly signed up for backstage work, and you only requested free access to spare cloth and sewing materials to fix your clothes. Vil was also more than happy to point out how scruffy the patches all over your uniforms made you look:
“You certainly fix the part of the ramshackle Prefect, now don’t you?”
Though, looking back on it now, you’re pretty sure he wasn’t aware that everything of yours was either found in Ramshackle’s attic or bought with the meager allowance Crowley gave you. Shortly before finals, Vil found you crying in an isolated part of backstage because another first-year permanently bleached your only jacket during a botched potions class.
Tumblr media
“What’s going on back here, practice your scenes upfront with the rest of us, I don’t care how ugly you look crying—Prefect?”
You jumped, scrambling to get back up from the dusty corner you’d shoved yourself into. You awkwardly wiped the tears from your face, wrapping your arms around yourself as you gave Vil a feeble glare.
“What do you want Vil, I already told the others that their costumes wouldn’t be ready yet, if you want me to get stuff done, you gotta stop annoying me—”
“You’ve been crying.” His simple statement shut you up, as he approached you with a firm look on his face.
“…Yeah, stating the obvious much?” you muttered back, finding the scuff marks on the ground very interesting. Vil let out a sigh, reaching into his jacket to take out an off-white, embroidered handkerchief.
“I’m trying to be sympathetic. Ugh, you’re all red and puffy, let me see.” Vil tipped your chin up with his fingertips, gently patting at the tear streaks on your cheeks. “You look worse than normal…is the red bleach stain on your uniform meant to be a fashion statement?”
Pausing at the stuttering breath you took, sniffling, you answered, “No, some dumba—”
“Language”
“—Some jerk,” you drawled, “from my last class messed up his potion, and it got all over me. Stained my only jacket, right when it starts snowing, too.”
Vil raised a brow at you, leaning back once he was satisfied with your dried cheek.
“Only one? Even Ruggie has a few spare uniform jackets from Leona, did you seriously not think ahead to purchase a spare?”
You half-laughed, half-scoffed at his statement.
“You think Crowley gives me enough money to buy another jacket for his bougie ass—I mean, fancy, school? I barely have enough to feed myself and Grim between the roof caving in and the water pipes breaking. The bathroom flooded again last week.”
You sighed, rubbing your temples as you felt a migraine coming in, unaware of Vil’s growing horror.
“I was lucky enough to find my uniform in the attic, it waaay too big and makes me look homeless, but at least it keeps me warm…now it just looks even more like shit.”
You finally looked up at the blonde, expecting him to lecture you on your foul language. Instead, you were surprised to see Vil’s horrified expression.
“What do you mean, you barely have enough for food?”
Tumblr media
It was then that you discovered that no one outside your group of friends were really aware that you were stuck on campus, victim to Crowley’s whims and needs. You know the others in Heartslabyul were faintly aware of your predicament, being from another world and stuck until Crowley found you a way home. Ace and Deuce did their best to help repair things around the dorm, but could only do so much. Savanaclaw and Octavinelle knew of the disarray of your dorm, but based on comments from Leona and Floyd, weren’t aware of just how much you were struggling just to eat and sleep.
Ruggie definitely was, seeing as he occasionally slipped you a spare meat bun or snack that he happened to buy extra of when running errands for Leona. Ruggie was a real one, as long as you didn’t point it out.
Since that day, Vil had sort of taken you under his wing, along with Epel who you hadn’t met yet at the time. You had to give him credit, he wasn’t the villain you’d made him out to be in your head. And Vil admitted, he enjoyed that you were quick on your feet and enjoyed your banter, as long as it was unique to him.
He spared you his previous uniforms that he’d grown out of his freshman and sophomore year, minus the band and vest, watching as you mended the waist and ends to fix your stature. More often than not, especially after hearing that you’d be stuck by yourself during winter break, Vil was sending you care packages with personal hygiene products from brand deals he never took. He’d send fabrics and sewing supplies with sewing patterns. Vil even started buying you breakfast and lunch once back to school, though you refrained from joining him for dinner in Pomefiore.
In exchange, you managed to replicate, with his help, some of the scripts for the more famous musicals from your world. You even told him who Regina George was! He still wasn't fond of the comparison, but did find the musical intriguing. Vil was fascinated by the works of art your world produced, and just slightly enamored in the way you described them with glee and fondness. Still, the exchanges still felt a bit uneven.
You’d once made the joke that he was practically a sugar daddy, just without the sugar. He snapped back, “Well, I’m not stopping you, now am I? I’ve never had a sweet tooth, but you’re more than welcome to give me thanks, meine Süße.”
(You spent that night screaming into your pillow with a red-hot blush while Grim looked on with concern.)
Truly, you two had developed an unlikely friendship, one where you both spoke your minds to the other with no hesitation or fear. Which is why the lack of conversation at the moment was slowly driving you insane.
You sneaked a peek at Vil, taking a sharp breath as your eyes met his own. It seemed that he was watching you with his very lovely, sharp purple eyes. The thought sent a hot flash through you as you sneezed a flurry of petals and pollen.
“Ooof, ugh, this is gonna make my allergies go haywire.”
“Sam will have some potions that will help with the symptoms, though you will have to confront the root of the cause.” Vil slid his hand down to rest in your mid-back, rubbing his thumb against you in a soothing motion, though it cause you to shiver and flush.
“Yeah, okay.” you managed to squeak out, groaning as you felt the tickle of glowing marigolds pop up on your skin and in your hair. “Ummmm, so how do you get rid of, uh, Ace called it hanahaki?”
Vil nodded and opened his mouth to speak before being interrupted by the faint screaming of your name. Both of you looked down the path, where you saw Deuce running over to you two, followed by a confused Epel chasing after him.
“PREFECT! PREFECTPREFECTPREFECTPREFECT—”
Yelping as Deuce skidded to a half and grabbed you by your arms, shaking you with intense concern, you managed to reply a stuttered, “W-w-what?”
Deuce paused his shaking to give you a concerned lecture, “You didn’t tell us you had the flower sickness!? Why didn’t you say something, you’ve been running around for SDC all this time—”
“You too—”
“But I’m not sick!” Deuce dug through the paperbag you’d just notice he was holding and shoved a pale pink potion in your hands. “Here! Take this!”
Before you could even touch the bottle, Vil plucked it from a confused Deuce’s hands, studying it with scrutiny.
“Hmm…This is an average allergy relief potion for hay fever, did you actually ask Sam for a hanahaki symptom relief potion, or did you just grab the first thing you saw off the shelf?”
Deuce visibly deflated, opening his mouth to sheepishly reply before Epel interrupted him with a harsh, “I told him to ask, but he got all riled up and started yammerin’—I mean, uh, talking about getting the Prefect help immediately.”
Vil sighed, handing Deuce the potion back and shooed the two away with a wave of his hand.
“Just go back, I’ll handle it, just make sure your messes are all cleaned up before we get back.”
The two replied, “Yes sir!” and continued on their path, waving goodbye to you. Though you could hear Epel mumble to Deuce, “Those are marigolds, right? I think Vil’s favorite flowers are those, you don’t think…”
You slowed down to ponder Epel’s words, remembering what Ace initially called the illness.
“Vil…Ace called it a love sickness…would these flowers related toooo, I don’t know, a hypothetical crush somehow?”
Vil briefly opened his mouth, closing it as he hesitated to speak. You think you could make out a soft blush on his cheeks.
“Yes. Your hypothetical crush must favor marigolds. Can’t say I blame him, I’m fond of them myself…”
The two of you made eye contact, a knowing look in his eye and tone making your heart skip a beat and you look down in embarrassment.
“Oh…I see…” You coughed awkwardly, a few petals flying from your mouth. “So you said there was a way to get to the root cause?”
Vil hummed, stopping at the entrance of Sam’s shop to turn to you with an unreadable expression.
“Yes, as an illness based on love, appropriately the cure is to confess your feelings to the one you’ve found yourself fancying.”
A cold flash went through your body as your stomach dropped. Again. “Oh.” The thought of confessing to Vil made you sick, like you could puke at a drop of a coin at any moment.
“I wish you’d mentioned something sooner, I could’ve helped you…ease into it.” Vil murmured,  his hand moving to cradle your cheek. He squished your cheek with a fond look in his eye.
“I know it’s a daunting task…I won’t rush you into it.” Vil moved his hand to brush your hair away, leaning down to place a soft kiss on your forehead. “When you’re ready to say something, just let me know.”
Leaning back, VIl covered his mouth to hide his amused smirk. Your face was a blazing red as the marigolds grew a trail down your neck and chest. He motioned for you to follow him into the shop, holding the door open as he held a hand out to you. At the moment, you’re having a hard time imagining why he’d only ever been typecast in villain roles, he looked more like an enchanting love interest catered for you specifically.
“For now, I’ll be by your side. I will wait for you, meine Süße.”

[Club Activities - part 2]
Tumblr media
Summary: Crowley keeps knocking at your door, quite literally, wanting to hear your club choice. You might as well get this over with.
Notes: gn!reader, humor, it's kinda long, reader is oblivious, mentions of minor injuries but in a funny way dw, it's the looong overdue pt2
Part: 1.0 / 2 (you're here!) / 2.5 (soon!)
Tumblr media
"So, have you decided?"
Crowley stands by the doorway. He looks completely normal, a pleasant smile plastered on his lips. You blink, sluggish, resisting the urge to slam the door on his face.
"It's five a.m. on a sunday."
"Yes, that's correct, good to see you're keeping up with the passage of time."
You feel there's a jab aimed at you for taking your time on choosing a club. Or on answering the door. In your defense, Grim was sleeping on top of you and you didn't want to disturb his sleep. Nor yours. You were hoping the Headmaster would just give up and leave you alone, but instead he only knocked louder.
"Well?"
"Uh..." You take a bit to remember the first thing he said. "No, I still have some meetings to go to."
"Were the sports clubs not to your liking? I'm sure you'd do well in one, should you put your efforts on it."
"Nah, I'll pass."
"I see. Then, you'll tell me your decision by the end of the week, yes?"
"Since when did we agree on this." It was a question, but with your drowsy state it just fell flat.
"Since now, of course! I was very kind to let you take so much time to chose a club, but you must understand I'm under some pressure as well to make sure you'll have the best possible education here. We can't afford to lose too much time!"
You blink again, your brain still sleepy. "Oh. Alright."
Crowley claps his hands in an excited manner. "Wonderful! I'll be eagerly waiting for your decision, then!"
Only as you watch his retreating back getting farther away that it finally registers just what you agreed on. You groan, closing the door and leaning against it.
Well, nothing to do about it now. You should really get onto it, anyway. Still, your break will be missed.
Film Research Club (Vil, Ortho platonically)
You had finally left the sports clubs behind, time to try something new, like arts!
Since you've worked with Vil at the SDC, you were already used to his strict personality and thought you'd be able to handle yourself pretty well. You might not have that much experience with acting but you did know how to pretend everything was ok and your life wasn't falling apart, so you think you might have potential.
It was quite surprising to see Ortho there, but the sight of your friend's welcoming eyes and cheer made you feel relieved, relaxing amidst the Pomefiore students. They were intimidating, though in a different way the guys from the Spelldrive club were. The latter looked like they could easily beat you to a pulp, while the former looked like they'd give you a disgusted stare and call you a peasant in such a condescending tone you'd implode on spot. They were all very pretty as well, but you wouldn't let that make you self conscious since you knew no one could beat Vil anyway.
Speaking of, Vil himself comes to speak with you and explain about the club with a professional conduct as he says that Crowley had warned him of your special situation and that he'd let you help out, since they always needed extra hands on deck. You got hopeful at that, perhaps it was time for you to shine and discover a hiden talent of yours! These daydreams are soon crushed as Vil puts you on backstage duty and turns around, having something or other to talk about with the other members.
Well. That was... not what you were expecting. Ortho explains that in order to enter the club as an actor, you must audition beforehand and prove yourself worthy. That makes sense, you guess, so you accept it with grace. Backstage work might not be as exciting as being on the actual stage, but you had Ortho by your side to make sure things won't be too dull. And a side of you wants to make Vil proud of your work, so you suck it up and ask Ortho to lead the way.
Ortho shows you around the set you'll be working on for the day. It's one of Pomefiore's dorm ballrooms, and it's huge. You look in awe at everything, even though it's a bit plain in terms of furniture, it's quite detailed. In moments like this you remember Pomefiore's dorm is a castle, as you feel the royalty emanating from the ceiling, with it's luxurious chandeliers, to the walls, with it's intricate golden patterns, even at the floor, by it's quality.
He teaches you how to operate the lights and sound for a bit while the actors decide on what they'll film that day. You feel just the tiniest bit of jealousy at them, especially because Vil seems to be very focused on everything they say. Ortho must notice this (of course he would), and tries to cheer you up. After all, you're his friend! He doesn't want you to feel bored at the club when there are so many insteresting things to do!
You move from the more technical parts and go to the storage room, where they keep most of the props and extra accessories. You explore it, looking at everything but not touching, not wanting to get in trouble if you break anything on accident. As you're looking at an old mirror, Ortho picks up one of the pink cowboy hats and puts it on your head. It looks goofy, not matching with your uniform at all, and it makes you laugh.
You retaliate by putting a pirate hat full of colorful feathers that's way too big on him. It slides down and covers his eyes, making him look like a little kid trying on their sibling's clothes. Not to mention the feathers, that also clash with his body's design. You both laugh and go to different directions, trying to find more things to put on.
Ortho ends up with a vivid red sash wrapped around his waist and a wooden rod in hands, while you've got a pink feather scarf around your neck and a hollow steel rod in hands. You stare down at each other from your sides of the room, pretending you're on one of those western cowboy movies, even acting like it too. You drawl out something about the town not being big enough for the two of you. Ortho goes along, putting up the worst pirate accent with his robotic voice and telling you to prepared to be boarded.
Between giggles, the two of you meet at the middle, your rods clashing as if they were swords. You make exaggerated moviments that would be impratical in any fight while dropping the most cliche lines you can think of. Ortho dodges your attacks in slow motion and retributes with his own, making it seem more like some funny dance than a sword fight.
You were having so much fun you kind of forgot you were there to do a job. You're quickly reminded as the door suddenly opens and you, startled, let the steel rod slip from your hands mid attack and hit the wall with a loud clang. There stands Vil, hands on his hips as he stares at the two of you with one arched eyebrow, an unimpressed look on his face even after almost being hit right on it. You're not looking the most dignified, with your whole attire. Nor is Ortho, which helps you to not feel alone on the receiving end of Vil's judgment.
The three of you leave the props behind and return to the main area. More precisely, to the actors' dressing room part. It's not an actual separate room, but rather a space of the ballroom reserved for this. Most have put on their costumes and are adjusting the finer details, Vil instructs you to help them while he sets up the stage.
You try your best, but every actor sends you a glare as you approach them, making you turn on your heels and try another one. And another. And another. You're not feeling very helpful. How you wish you could just ignore it like Ortho does. The only thing you actually do is helping zip up some clothes when they can't reach their backs and do it themselves. You don't dare to touch their hair or you feel they'd explode you with their minds. There is one instance when you have to lace a guy into a corset, but you get a bit confused with all the laces. Maybe it's like tying a shoe? You pull on it with too much force at first, leading him to complain at you the entire time. In your defense, you've never done this before! You tie it up with a cute lace at the end to make up for it and scurry away before he could release more of his wrath upon you. You settle on following Ortho around like a lost puppy.
Finally, everyone finishes up and you move to the middle of the room, where the scene will be taking place. From what you gather, the movie they are making is about a royal family that's having their heir assume the throne, but there's a plot against him going behind the scenes. The main character seems to be corset guy, who still glares at you whenever you pass by his camp of vision, much to your (un)luck.
Ortho leads you to the first place he showed, since they'd start recording soon. You watch him work with the lights, turning them on dramatically as they start the scene and making it follow the main lead as he monologues about his woes of assuming such a big responsability and how he feels between the sea of people present. The actor does a good job, good enogh to appease Vil, who watches attentively near the camera. The thing is, he's trying to replicate a foreign accent and that, combined with his melodramatic lines, makes you have to stifle a laugh.
You try your best to stay quiet and pay attention to the story, but some of the lines and the way they dramatically deliver them sound so silly you can't help but giggle in your palm. Ortho looks at you inquisitively, tilting his head and trying to understand what you found so funny. You whisper an explanation to him, making him see the words in a different manner. As you laugh, he laughs along discretely, both of you having fun again.
Vil motions for you to keep your volume down, as to not disturb the actors and break their concentration, and you send him a thumbs up. Still, you keep on reacting, even mouthing their words with exaggerated facial expressions. Ortho seems much more interested in what you have to show than the lights, since he misses some of his cues and gets it later or sooner than intended. Which is also funny, since the confused looks on the background actors' faces are very entertaining.
It comes to a point in which you're holding in your laughter so much you're a bit out of air, and you end up bumping into one of the controls, making the background music change suddenly, from a calm waltz to an action scenesque one. Your startled eyes meet Ortho's, and in true friendship fashion you both burst out laughing. Vil cuts the filming and strides up on you two, reprimanding you once again, and you feel like a guilty puppy being scolded by their owner. You must look like that too, since he sighs like an overworked mother and takes pity on you, deciding on something else for you to do and leave Ortho to do his job without distractions.
Vil gives you the role of an extra to play, just for you to have an idle conversation with the protagonist that won't last even five minutes. He shows you exactly how the scene should go, taking hold of your hand to conduct a dance and dropping casual chatter with you, looking you in the eyes, with a conduct that's so charming you're sure you feel your heart skip a beat (too bad it's just acting though). You feel like you can do that as well, so you hurry to change into one of the formal outfits and repeat the line Vil told you over and over again in your head, heart beating way too fast.
There is just one thing you didn't count on: you apparently have a bad case of stage fright. Or perhaps it's happening especifically because you know Vil will be watching you like a hawk. As you position yourself amidst the other extras, you feel your heartbeat accelerating and your hands start to sweat. You try to relax your tense shoulders and clear your throat, looking at the floor to steady yourself.
As your cue approaches, you move closer to the corset guy, whose attention snaps at you as soon as you enter his vision field. Even if his face looks polite, like a prince, you can feel the glare he's still sending your way, just on a more subdued level this time. You can also feel the stares of the others on your back and your tongue seems to have been tied. Your head comes up with a blank when you try to remember what Vil told you to say. Oh, this is not good. Why did this have to be so nerve wracking?
Time passes slowly, seconds feels like hours as the protagonist waits expectantly for your words. Trying to not disappoint, you blurt out a joke improvisation line, like the ones you see on movies sometimes. Unfortunately, your sense of humor is vastly different from Pomefiore's students', and the joke falls so flat everyone has to take a moment to recover. You wish for the ground to swallow you as Vil yells a "Cut!" and the other actors look judgmentally in your way. Maybe if you close your eyes it will go away? You can still hear the other's whispering, and although you don't understand what exactly they're saying, you can only guess they're mocking you. Welp, guess it's time to become a hermit at ramshackle and never show your face at school ever again!
It takes only a minute, but as soon as Vil has recomposed himself he commands everyone to be quiet. You open your eyes again, gathering all your courage to see the disappointed look on his face, but you're surprised that's not what greets you. Instead, Vil's got a nasty glare that's sharp enough to cut a man, and it's not directed at you at all! Vil procceds to reprimand the rest of the cast for being so inelegant as to make fun of a begginer and even mocks their need to feel superior. You've never felt more grateful for him in your life, maybe you can still go to classes after that, since no one will dare to mess with you and risk his wrath.
As the others look ashamed for being yelled at by their leader, Vil pulls you aside and tells you that maybe it's better to try something else if your stage fright is going to affect your performance so much. He sounds strict as always, but he has an almost soft look in his eyes as he congratulates you for trying to overcome that fear and that you did well enough for someone with no experience. You feel a lot better after that and thank him sincerely, promising to give it your all at whatever other job you can do to help! He smiles at your enthusiasm and it's as if the clouds have parted ways for the sun to shine. (The other club members look amazed, as they've never seen such a soft smile on Vil's face before.)
He then asks you if you know how to work with a camera. If taking pics with Cater to post on Magicam counts then yes, you do have some experience with it. Vil says he's got the perfect job for you: being part of the camera crew and helping to film everything. You accept, after all, how hard can it be, really?
Apparently, a lot. Vil had just left out a little detail from this job: you'd be filming the aerial angle of this scene. Which meant using Kalim's magic carpet. As you recall, you're not the most adept at riding it, flashbacks from winter vacation entering in your mind. Still, you had promised Vil you'd help on this, and you weren't sure if he'd find you another thing to do or get your complaining the wrong way, so you decide to give it a try anyway.
You wobble on it, camera propped up on your shoulder and secured by a sling strap just in case you losen your hold on it. (Which is very likely). Surprisingly, you manage to get the carpet off the ground without many complications, so things are looking up (quite literally)! And then comes the part where you have to guide it and you're almost thrown out of a window with the force it makes a turn. Your grip on it tightens and you try to wrestle it into submission, with little success.
Things procced like this, you trying to learn how to drive the carpet while making turns on the air and holding on for your life. (And making sure the camera is safe. You don't want a repeat of the chandelier accident from the start of the year, so you're not taking any chances). Anything you might have tried to film is probably so shaky and blurry it isn't even usable, but you have more important matters to worry about.
That goes on until you make a particularly sharp turn, causing the carpet to lose control and go spiraling straight to the floor. Luckly, you manage to land on a convenientely placed couch (has that been there before?) and doesn't get much hurt. You're clutching the camera to your chest in a protective manner, so it isn't damaged either. At least, not much, but it isn't anything the Ignihyde guys can't fix.
Vil and Ortho are by your side in an instant, asking if you're alright. Vil extends his hand and pulls you up like a gentleman, fixing your hair softly. He's really close to your face and you can feel your heart beating faster, though you're not sure if it's due to that or the adrenaline of the fall. Ortho reassures you that not even him got the hang of piloting the carpet, as it seems to only actually obey Kalim, and that you did your best!
You really did try, so you can safely say you won't discover any hidden acting talent any time soon. Time to check out other clubs.
(Ortho tells you to drop by another time at practice and watch the recording with him, since he had a lot of fun! Vil tells you that should you wish and work hard for it, you may have potential and he'd be willing to help you reach it. You agree, since it was very nice to visit and, most of all, to get to see Vil on his element like this. There's an added bonus of you not having ended up at the infirmary as well, which is enough to put the club on a positive light in your books. It's a bit sad that's the standard, but oh well, nothing to do about it.)
Science Club (Trey, Rook)
Alright, art may not be for you, but maybe science is! Or... whatever it is that they do in this club.
It's a bit intimidating since there are way too many people there, more than you've seen in any other club. What could they possibly be doing to attract this many people?
Rook, as observant as ever, notices you before you've even set foot inside the lab, coming close to greet you and ask if you were going to join them for the day. You relutanctly agree, staying close to his side as he leads you deeper into the room, opening the path. You make sure to not bump into anyone and cause an accident.
Trey is at one of the work tables at the back, sharing it with Rook. He sends a calming smile your way and explains that it's a club with a vast variety of activities, as long as they're not of the physical sort. You sigh in relief, listening to him reciting things such as plant cultivation and chemistry experiments. You already have to do those things on your regular classes, so you're confident in your ability of succeding for once. Rook adds that this flexibility in activity has attracted many people, creating a beauté diversity of members. (Trey explains that there's a lot of odd people as he side eyes Rook).
You sit with them, since you don't know anyone else. Rook goes on about the experiment he'll be doing this time, something that will leave a beautiful impact and stay on the mind of anyone looking. It sounds a lot like what happens when you partner up with Ace and Deuce at alchemy class, that is, stuff is about to be blown up. You scoot closer to Trey.
Taking pity on you, Trey reminds Rook that there's an ingredient missing, since they had used all from the lab's storage on their last class, and offers to get it at the botanical garden for him, inviting you to come along. You jump at the opportunity, agreeing and getting up to follow him. Rook thanks his generosity and explains that there's no way a gentleman like him would leave all the hard work onto the two of you, so he follows along. Trey looks a bit annoyed, but you only wanted to get out of being roped into a crazy experiment so you don't mind much, as long as you keep Rook away from any potential explosive plants.
The fresh air from the gardens is much better than the stuffy feeling from the crowded lab, and you take a deep breath to appreciate it. Trey takes you to the temperate zone, the path filled with beautiful flowers of all colors and scents. The sound of the little river below you only adds to the pleasant atmosphere, the sun rays warming up your skin and soul. It's wonderful. You'd like it if your club classes were to take place there. It might be enough to convince you to join, the nature so full of life energizing your mood, a smile blooming on your face.
You pass by an area that has thicker vegetation and stands out from the whole, attracting your curiosity, so you ask Trey what could be there. He warns you to not wander to that side of the garden, as there were carnivorous plants being cultivated by the third years. You wave him off, saying you had those back in your world and they were pretty harmless. Trey looks at you in doubt, but decides to not question it, aceptting your answer and going back to his search for the missing ingredient.
Since you have no idea what you should be looking for, you leave the boys to it, deciding to observe the flowers instead. Distracted, you end up getting farther away from them, the flora enticing you and putting you under a spell, demanding your attention. It's not until you bump into a tall... something, that you realize how far you had gone. You lift up your head, wondering if you had bumped into a tree, only to find two open hinged lobes dripping with sap closing on your face.
A scream gets caught in your throat as you take in the gigantic carnivorous plant in front of you, that's only coming closer. You didn't know that when Trey had mentioned them, he didn't explain that they aren't like the one from your world at all. Not only were they huge, but also seemed ready to eat a human at any given chance.
You're pulled by someone behind you, falling into a secure chest and feeling strong arms embracing your waist as the plant's jaw's close into the air where you were just a second ago. The sigh you let out shakes your whole body and you let your weight be supported by your saviour. You find out his identity soon enough, as a familiar voice by your ear calls you chéri and asks if you were fine.
After thanking Rook, he guides you to the main area of the garden with a protective hand behind your back, making sure you wouldn't stumble into any more potential dangerous plants, as he goes on about how they were "the hunters of the natural world" and how "such danger has it's own alluring charm, non?" You don't catch the glint in his eyes as he asks the question, too busy trying to get your heart beat back into a normal rhythm.
Trey scolds you lightly for ignoring his advice, but he seems busier trying to equilibrate the plants he harvested in his arms and glaring at Rook, probably for leaving him alone to do all the work. Rook stays unbothered, putting his hands on your shoulders and staying close as he directs you to the exit, his usual smile stamped on his face.
As you put the fresh ingredients near the others that Rook had selected earlier, you notice some strawberries in the mix. You shot a questioning stare at Trey, making him laugh and explain he took the chance to harvest some of his hand grown special strawberries. He takes some from your hands, brushing your fingers together before lifting them up to inspect closely. The strawberries are a beautiful shade of red, making you salivate only by looking at them. Trey has a contemplative expression as he murmurs he should use them as soon as possible in order to make the best use of their ripeness.
You suggest him to make a strawberry tart with them and offers your help, on the light price of getting to eat it as well. He smiles and agrees to your proposal, telling you to follow him to the kitchens. You do, happily so as you carry some of the strawberries in your arms, leaving Rook to take care of the potions experiment. Really, you feel like you've killed two birds with one stone, so you pat yourself on the back for doing a good job.
Back at the first month of classes, you remember cooking with Trey, Ace, Deuce and Grim, and how much fun you had, despite the circumstances. With the group reduced to two, it might be more toilsome, but you were confident it would be worth it.
Trey finds an extra apron for you, tying it himself to make sure it would stay in place. He gently explains the steps to prepare the ingredients, helping you whenever you didn't understand something. It was quite nice, seeing Trey look so in his element, an unconscious soft expression on his face, as if he was enjoying himself. It's domestic, even, how you dance around each other in the kitchen, passing bowls and cutlery back and forth. He is good humored as he recalls stories from the club, making you laugh whenever he bemoans Rook's experiments.
The stories he tells are very captivating, so much so that you don't look at the recipe book, doing the steps on automatic. Once or twice you almost spill what you were mixing or use too much force to cut something, but it's salvageable every time, so you don't comment on it. You leave the crust on the oven for a bit too much, but it's only slightly charred, so you're pretty sure it's still edible. One of the flour bags slips from your hands and falls on the sink, covering your face in flour powder. Trey helps you clean up, but he's laughing at you and your now white hair. It comes to the point in which you're mixing the crème pâtissière and you get too close to the stove, making the ends of your sleeves to catch on fire. Trey quickly puts it out and runs your arm under cold water. The crème ends up a bit too lumpy, since neither of you were stirring it for a while, but it's not too bad.
Alright, maybe you're not the best at cooking. Still, arranging the strawberries in a circle on top of the tart was pretty fun. The last thing left to do is to let it cool. You lick your lips thinking about eating it once it's ready. You're about to help Trey clean the mess you've made in the kitchen when Rook bursts through the door, looking excited. He tells you there's no time to explain and takes you by the hand, dragging you back to the laboratory. You send Trey your best regards and wish him luck in cleaning everything alone. He sends you a pitying look back.
You should wish yourself some luck as well, since the motive for Rook to have brought you to the lab was for you to help him with the new formula he thought for his experiment. He explains that the one he was trying didn't have it's desired effects, as you could clearly see from the scorch marks on the table you were sitting before. He says that for the new formula, he'll need help to get the ingredients prepared and handed over, since he couldn't stop stirring it until everything was added in. You don't know how he came up with this solution, and honestly? You don't want to know.
Having no other choice, you agree to help him. He reminds you to put your gloves and safety googles on before starting, making a comment on how your cute apron would do as your lab coat. After getting into place, you follow all of Rook's instructions, preparing and handing over the ingredients he asks for. You have no idea what it is that he's going for, as your potions classes are still on a basic and more theorical level, but you decide to trust that he, as your upperclassman, knows what he's doing.
Dread pools on your gut as you watch the ingredients going into the cauldron. There's a hissing sound and bubbles emerge from the deep purple concotion. You have no time to react as Rook thows his arm in front of you just in time for the explosion to take place. You grip onto the table tightly and manage to stay upright, thanking the Sevens for your safety googles. If it were not for them, your entire face would be covered in a sparkling purple powder, some getting into your hair as well. Rook laughs and tells you that you shine bright like the sun. You look on unamused. Trey appears, having heard the explosion, and sighs, clearly being too used to this happening. He tells you and Rook to clean up as he starts to clean your mess, bless him.
Rook takes you to the nearest bathroom available, both of you trying to wash the explosion's results off. It has stuck like glue, and you have to splash your face with the cold water over and over for it to go away. You think there's still some of it on your hair, but can't bring yourself to care much. The apron wasn't enough to cover your body, so your clothes weren't spared either. Rook doesn't comment on it, but you can see him looking at you funny by the corner of your eye.
As you enter the lab, you see that the students that stayed after the first explosion had left. Rook wonders out loud on why they didn't like the innovation of his experiment, sighing as he goes on about the beauty of curiosity. You and Trey exchange glances as you clean everything together. You feel like you stayed way past the club's scheduled time and your arms hurt from moping the floor. At least you get to share your wonky strawberry tart. It doesn't taste as good as Trey's usual ones do, but you like it. You can't decide if it was worth all the trouble though.
Grim laughs at you once you get back to Ramshackle, your face is itching for the rest of the day, there's some sparkles in your hair for the rest of the week, your slightly burnt arm won't stop aching, you sent your clothes' laundry bill for Rook to pay. As much as you respect scientific advances, you feel that being involved in the research isn't for you (nor the cooking). Time to check out other clubs.
(Rook keeps approaching you at the halls to update you on how he's thought of possible changes to make the potion work. Trey comments he liked having company in the kitchen and help for cleaning up for once. They aren't very subtle. You don't even have to agree to visit the club again another time, as Rook has already volunteered you as his lab assistant and Trey has gifted you a recipe book with markings on which recipes you'll try to bake next. Guess you have no other choice but to go back now.)
Pop Music Club (Cater, Kalim, Lilia)
And back to the arts you go. But this time, instead of performing, how about playing some music? Joining the school band might be fun!
You're surprised to only find three people in the club. All the others had a bunch of people, but in this one, once you enter the classroom you're met with three of your friends hanging out in a couch. Why was there a couch in this classroom in the first place!?
It's not just three random people, either. It's the chillest and most extroverted people of the school, the ones that got along with everyone and were very popular. They whip their head so fast to the direction of the door once you enter you get a little worried for their necks. They seem elated to have a visitor, so you suppose this won't be so bad, even if you don't feel confident enough to play an instrument in front of other people.
Kalim jumps at you and envelops you in a big hug, a smile shining on his face as usual. Lilia pats you on the back, pushing you closer to the center of the room and welcoming you. Cater takes out his phone and takes a selfie with everyone, declaring it would go viral to have the cutest people of the school all together in one place and gushing over how many likes he'd get. They sure are a lively bunch.
Lilia plops you down on the couch, telling you to feel at home and winking. There's a center table with food containers in front of you, Kalim offers you a bite, explaining they made the snacks to bring to their club meetings, and Cater proposes to make it a culinary competition, in which you'd judge which one was the best. You were pretty sure you had left the cooking behind at the science club, what did it even had to do with music? Well, you weren't going to complain about getting free food!
Cater insists you try his first, a round tupperware with fried corn tortilla chips and guacamole in a dipping bowl at the center. It looks amazing, making your mouth water a bit. You take one of the chips, lightly lower it on the dip and take a bite. It's overall very good, the consistency and the crispness are wonderful, there's just one little problem: it's very spicy. Very spicy. Not the "oh no there's a tiny bit of spice in my otherwise bland food" type but the "my eyes are burning my thorat is burning my stomach is burning I'm going to burn from the inside out" type. And that's how you feel as you fan your face and drink the water Kalim brings you, though it only makes the burning worse, spreading it throughout your mouth and making your eyes water. Lilia appears upside down, hanging from the ceiling and scaring you, and offers you a glass of milk instead. You gratefully take it and chug it down as quick as you can.
Once you've calmed down, Lilia explains how he keeps milk around for Cater's food, that's way too spicy for his liking. Cater looks at you with puppy eyes, asking if you liked the chilli peppers he added to the recipe. You didn't, not really. It would be one thing to add some, sure, but it's like there's more pepper than anything else. You weakly smile at him and explain apologetically that it might not suit your tastes so much. Cater seems a bit down, but he only shrugs and jokingly says that not everyone can have good taste.
Kalim bounces up to you next, shoving his container in front of your face and telling you to try it. He proudly says he made it all without Jamil's help and that he hopes you'll like it. You look at the fried dumplings, remembering it's a sweet called awameh. It looks good as well, although a bit burnt, nothing that would stop you from eating it. You take one, getting surprised by how crunchy they ended up being, the sweetness exploding in your tongue. It would be very good, but you have the impression Kalim must have used the wrong measure of the ingredients. Yes, it was sweet, but it was way too sweet. Not only that, the sugar mixed with the cinnamon on the syrup also left you thirsty, as you downed another cup of water. It was like cinnamon was impregnated on your mouth, there was definetly too much.
While you accept your tongue will never be the same after the combo of strong flavours, Kalim reveals he tried to follow one of Jamil's mom's recipes for it, declaring it to be the best he's ever proved. He just got a bit confused when taking the measures for some ingredients, but he was proud of his work! You make a mental note to try to eat one of Jamil's awameh later, sure that it would taste delicious, and compliments Kalim on his efforts, suggesting gently to ask for help next time he has trouble with it.
The last one is Lilia, and you start dreading what might be hidden on his container. He seems preppy that someone will get to try his food, telling you that he's the one that cooks dinner at Diasomnia and how Silver and Sebek love his food. Cater and Kalim look at you with pity, shaking their heads. You've heard of Lilia's infamous cooking skills before, so you have to mentally prepare yourself before looking at what he prepared. It's... uh... something alright. Though it's unrecognizable, a dark glob that just looks sticky and burnt after the point. Your desperate look does nothing for Cater and Kalim to try to save you, as they look away furtively.
Aceppting your fate, you take one of the spoons Lilia brought and take the smallest bite possible while he stares at you attentively. It tastes foul, as expected, as if something had died in your mouth. You resist the urge to gag, trying to go for a smile and ending up with a grimace instead. It's horrible, there's no other way to describe it. All the rumors don't do it justice, it's way worse than what they say. You suspect you will get food poisoning later, as you down another glass of water. At least you're keeping yourself hydrated. Lilia seems to either not notice or pretend he didn't, as he keeps his cheery attitude and asks if you liked it. You nod weakly, hoping it would be enough for him to not force you to take another bite. He mercifully looks satisfied with the answer and you sigh with relief.
In the end you tell them you don't know which one was the best (you side eye Lilia's, thinking on how you knew which one was the worst at least). They don't look disappointed, content in having you prove their food as each munchs on their own snacks happily. You wonder how they manage to do it. Suddenly you miss Trey's baking and the wonky strawberry tart you've made.
As everyone sits together, Cater puts on some electropop song on the background that reminds you of the famous vocaloids from your world. You have an epiphany that Cater would listen to Hatsune Miku. You're not sure what to do with that information, staying quiet in shock as the other three talk between themselves. You remember him mentioning something like it when you went to do the SDC auditions, but you had other things to worry about and it must have slipped your mind. Once you've recomposed yourself, you ask what the food had to do with music, since the question had been burning in your mind for some time (not as much as your tongue burned tho).
They explain that the pop music club doen't really do much music, as the name suggests, they mostly just hang around to chat and chill. It has gotten them in a bit of trouble with the Headmaster, as they don't do anything that could actually be considered a club activity, causing him to have threatened to disband the club. Not to mention there's no new members for a while, no matter how much they try to attract more students. You consider joining this one just to spite Crowley. They clarify that they do play their instruments every once in a while to cover some song, but with their different music tastes they never reach an agreement on what to play most of the time.
You're curious on how they might sound as a band, sure it would be a chaotic but entertaining sight. You would ask to see this, if it was not for Cater excitedly declaring it's "gossiping time". They put on elevator music to play at the background and huddle close together, leaving a spot open for you to join their little circle, as if you were about to be in into the school's secrets. And that's exactly what happens, as the three of them seem to know about everyone and everything that goes on Night Raven College. There's so much drama you've never heard about, and you feel you know way too much about the lives of people you've never even met, but it's nice to create conspiracy theories about what would happen next in the soap opera that was other people's lives.
The topic changes to Magicam, since you were lowkey stalking the boy that had caused a ruckus in the cafeteria the past days. Cater likes his account's aesthetic, saying it passes the bad boy vibes he has, and whines about their club's magicam page. You weren't aware they even had one, so you ask to see it. It's... not what you were expecting. They might as well not have an account, since there are no photos other than their icon, which was the symbol of the club. Cater complains that they couldn't come to an agreement on how the page should look and were too lazy to try to work something out, so it has stayed like that for months.
Since you know how much he cares about this stuff, you offer your help! After all, it could be a lot of fun, and it'd feel as if you're the manager of the club. Cater lightens up with joy, throwing his arms around you and bringing you close to affectionately rub his cheeck on the top of your head, thanking you for being such a prestative underclassman. You enter your business mode, thinking on how you could go about this. It makes sense to promote the club doing something other than hanging out, so you tell them to pick up their instruments and pose.
You go around them and try many different angles. Kalim and Lilia have fun doing weird poses that makes very clear they aren't playing at all, but there's a charming genuine smile on their faces. Cater poses with his guitar like a professional, making captivating facial expressions that make even you swoon, only encouraging him to make different ones. He could be a model, you think, with how he knows all the right ways to smile at the camera and tilts his head just so to make him look cute and alluring at the same time, fingers skillfully positioned at the eletric guitar's chords, eyes lidded, hair messy deliberately, body facing forwards with confidence. He has everything to ace the rockstar persona, at least in looks.
You try taking some of them together as an unit, but none pleases you enough. There's something missing, but you can't quite put your finger on what. You give his cellphone back as you ponder about it. Cater looks through the photos, commenting how one looks "super cool~" and in the other he's "slaying". He decides it'd be a great moment to take advantage of his cuteness streak to take a photo with everyone together, yourself included. Cater drapes his arm around your shoulders and keeps you close to him, cheek coming to rest at your forehead. Kalim and Lilia make poses behind you two, laughing at how silly they look with all the filters Cater tries on.
He ends up telling you to decide which photo looked better, as he couldn't chose just one, something like: "any photo with you would look cute, of course I can't chose!" You look through all of them, but only one gets your eyes, the only without a filter. Everyone looks genuinely happy, making your heart warm. Cater's is not looking at the camera itself, but slightly to the side, where you are, with such a soft expression you can't help but be endeared by it. It's him, not a forced smile and exaggerated pose, just Cater, happy. That's what the other pictures were missing.
You show it to him, insisting it's the best and should be the first photo on the club's Magicam page. He pouts about the lack of filter, saying how the other ones look much cuter, but you explain that you like the real him much more than any filter, since nothing could ever come close to the real deal, no filter in the world could make him justice. You're very genuine with it too, since it's the truth. Cater stares at you, caught by surprise, and turns his face away from you, ears tinted pink, taking a minute to recompose himself, leaving you confused. Lilia looks on knowingly, smirking at him. You weren't alone in your confusion, as Kalim seemed to be just as clueless as you.
Your argument manages to convince him, though, as he soon comes up with an eye catching description and posts it, grumbling that you should be happy now. You are, actually, so you simply smile at him, giggling at his playful eye roll. Only after the picture was already posted and you entered on your own account that you notice your eyes were closed. You yelp and try to convince Cater to change it to another one, but he refuses, telling that you were the one that chose it so you should stick with it, sticking his tongue out at you in a childsh manner. You whine some more before giving up. Cater seemed really content with the choice, if the soft smile on his face as he glanced at it meant anything, so you let it be, resigning to your fate. You weren't even a member, so you hoped you wouldn't attract that much attention. (You really hoped Ace wouldn't find it, otherwise you'd never hear the end of it.)
He suddenly gets an idea to decorate the classroom to make it look more "magicamable", dragging Lilia with him to get the decorations. Lilia whispers something to him that makes him glance back at you with a red face, quickly scurrying away and leaving you and Kalim to look on in confusion. How weird, what had gotten into him?
At that moment, the playlist shuffles, coming up with a song that has a very upkeep beat. Kalim jumps in excitement, saying that was his favorite song and he couldn't not dance to it. You can't help jumping your leg and moving your head to the beat, swaying to the contagious rhthym. Kalim notices and extends his hands in your direction, inviting you to dance with him. You know you're nowhere near his skill level and you'd look clumsy compared to his fluid moviments, but his earnestness convinces you to give it a try. You were sure he wouldn't make fun of you, so why not have a good time too?
Hand in hand, the two of you move together, not completly in sync, but in a rhythm that feels right, that's only yours. It's nice, seeing his content expression up close, foreheads almost touching, feet following the other's steps, hips swaying together. You spin once, laughing, he spins once, grinning wildly. You're lost in the trance of the hypnotizing beat of Kalim's heart.
The song gradually comes to a stop, making both of you calm down too. Kalim has one hand on your waist, the other still holding yours. You hold onto his shoulder, your noses touch, breaths coming in puffs, his eyes crinkle and it's warm, he's warm. Your chest follows his in it's rise and fall, your stomach does pirouettes, to the point you're dizzy, your cheeks feel hot. You start worrying you might have really gotten food poisoning from Lilia's cooking.
Before either of you say anything else, the sound of Cater's giggle burst your bubble, bringing you back to the real world. You whip your head to the door, watching as Lilia and Cater giggle deviously, Cater's fingers working fast on his cellphone's keyboard. You separate from Kalim's burning touch, your hands suddenly feeling cold, and stride up to them, demanding to look at what they found so funny. Lilia shows you, on his own phone, a videoclip of you and Kalim dancing together, nearing the end of the song. Your focus is initially on Kalim, as he glows, movements showing years of expertise, it's... beautiful. Then your gaze averts to yourself, and how, like you suspected, you were looking goofy near him, not matching the tempo at all.
You whine up at Cater again, asking him to delete the stories he posted, but he refuses, saying it was way too precious to miss. You lightly hit his chest and look up your lashes at him, pouting. His teasing expression falters, as if you were on the brink of convincing him. Lilia pulls you away and explains it was only on close friends anyway, so you needn't worry about the whole school seeing it. Kalim agrees that the video is very nice, beaming as he watches you two having fun. You sigh and give up, not having the heart to be a killjoy.
Lilia and Cater's hands are empty of any decorations, so you question them about it. Cater frowns exaggeratedly, drowning on dramatically on how they couldn't find any and how it was such a pity. Lilia covers his hand to hide a giggle, only making the action more obvious. Cater glares at him subtly. Kalim notices how the club's reserved time is almost coming to an end, deciding that to make a grand finale you should play an instrument, after all they should at least pretend they did something club related for you to report back to the Headmaster. And it'd be a lot of fun for you to play with them!
Lilia claps his hands together, agreeing it would be a most gleeful experience. He insists on teaching you how to play the bass, not wanting to hear whether you already knew how to or not. He gives you the instrument and shows how to hold it in the right way, trying to teach a few chords. It's a bit difficult to understand the confusing terms he uses, so he sighs and comes behind you, taking your hands in his and doing the movements, pressing his chest against your back, his deep voice right by your ear as he explains. You can't pay attention to it all, for some reason. You kind of feel dizzy again. Perhaps it's the food poisoning for real this time?
His fingers guide yours along the strings, gently pressing on the right spots, strumming the chords at the bridge. He murmurs the instructions, voice ressonating like the low pitch of the instrument, hot breath tickling your skin. You let him do as he pleases, dazed. The simple notes ring in your ears, lulling you into calmness, eyes closing as you let your sensations take the wheel, the frequency making your heart vibrate in your chest, as if dancing along, your head floating in the clouds.
It's all good and well until Lilia starts singing along. Or whatever it is that he calls "singing". In reality, he starts screaming some punk-rock lyrics right by your ear. Your heart jumps so quickly you swear you almost had an arrhythmia, your soul leaving your body for a second. Your eyes snap open so fast the lights from the classroom blind you and make black spots appear in your vision. You elbow Lilia in your surprise, thankfully making him stop trying to burst your eardrums. You get away, taking off the strap of the bass and giving it back to him. You think that's enough practicing for now.
Later on the day you confirm your food poisoning suspicions to be true. You've gained a new found respect for Sebek for enduring the poison Lilia calls cooking everyday and still managing to keep that impressive disposition of his. At least you helped the pop music club get more followers on magicam and spread their word out there. A bunch of people sign up to know the club, so you're all really happy! You felt like you've done a good job. (In the next week, the people arrive and see no sight of you, only of the dynamic trio. They don't show up again, leaving the members number back to it's original three.)
It was pretty fun, all things considered. You didn't get hurt other than in your pride and your social image, so it's a win in your books. Still, you're not sure you could handle their energetic and chaotic personalities combined like this evey week and risk getting deaf or suffering stomach failure. Time to check out other clubs.
(Cater comments on how the photos you took together got the most likes, insisting you come over again for a photoshoot. Kalim says he's got new songs to dance with you and that he's asked Jamil to help him cook for the next club meeting. Lilia tells you that you still have to take some more bass lessons to get the hang of it. Well, you suppose you could pass by sometime to be in the know about what goes on at the school and to get to prove Jamil's cooking. And to enjoy your friend's company, of course!)

Context:
You're a demon slayer, an extremely experienced one at that. You have been fighting demons ever since you were young, and preparing to do so even younger. When you were unexpectedly thrown into Twisted Wonderland and admitted to NRC, you hid your sword in your uniform, and stashed away your clothes once you could. You figured the best way to survive here was to hide your cards. After all, being surrounded by morally questionable strangers with magic was not ideal. In case you really needed it, you figured it was best to pretend to be weak so your strength could cover you when you needed it most.
Now that a few months have passed and you've gained reliable friends, you didn't see a point anymore. You felt safer than you ever have in your entire life. You were no longer on a battlefield, no longer surrounded by the pained cries of the people you failed to save. But the battle was catching up to you. Now that you were no longer fighting constantly, you had more time to think. You're nightmares of battle have been getting worse and you can't escape it. The guilt of hiding such an integral part of yourself from your friends wasn't helping either. Eventually though, you let the dam break. You tell them about your life, the reason behind your scars and show them your sword. There's tears in your eyes and you're shaking like the child you once were long ago.
Vil
He was intrigued by your choice of clothes, and at the same time a little horrified by your clearly unkempt skin.
As tempted as he was to help you out, he had a job to do. He never thought about you much until SDC came around. But the first thing he noticed was your terrible sleeping schedule.
He noticed that when he got up for his morning workout/skincare routine, you were already finishing a workout. And yet he’d catch you the night before sneaking out. When the hell did you sleep?
He did not appreciate it at all. Your complete lack of self care was not appropriate for the manager if his dance group >:( Especially since you held so much potential! You clearly cared about your strength, so why not the rest of you!?!
Vil decided to keep a closer eye on you to try to fish out a reason why. That’a when he noticed particular things about you.
It was a simple moment, something that really shouldn’t have stuck out to him. You had only handed him his water bottle during a quick break. But for a split second your hand brushed his, and he noticed how rough they were. When he looked down he was almost taken aback by the callouses and scars that littered your hand.
He decided not to let his surprise show, and only said a small “thank you”.
You only confused him more when he noticed even more scars that would pop out from the collar and cuffs of your shirt.
He asked Rook about it once, but only received another one of his vague tangents about your beauty.
Of course, he wouldn’t be Vil if he just stopped there. So he decided to make the difficult decision to switch up his sleeping schedule to catch you in the act.
He succeeded in his little stakeout and managed to catch you. And imagine his surprise in seeing you decked out in a uniform with your sword fastened to your body.
Both of you were stuck in silence, with Vil being the first to break it.
“Potato, what are you doing…?” There was a small frown placed on his pristine face, his brows lowered in almost a disappointed way.
“Uhm, it’s a bit hard to explain.”
“I have the time.”
Silence fell over the two of you again. You began to wonder if you should make a break for it, but Vil spoke up first.
“Sword aside, you should not be sacrificing your sleep like this.” He sighed deeply, “Just because you are not performing does not mean this is fine. On the other hand I will not punish you for it because you are not performing. Go to bed.”
You sighed in defeat, you couldn’t even remember the last time someone even made that request of you. Reluctantly, you decided to abide to his wishes (you actually just jumped out your window)
The next day, Vil still wasn’t satisfied. You still acted the same, sure, but you were clearly exhausted! No wonder your skin was in such poor condition, the dark circles under your eyes were a telltale sign. So he planned a more direct way to wrench out answers.
He managed to catch you alone in a room of Ramshackle. You were just cleaning another one of the countless filthy rooms humming to yourself peacefully. You really do nothing but work yourself ragged, he would’ve been impressed if not by the clear toll it was taking on you.
“You know, I really should report that sword to the Headmaster.”
“He already knows.” You looked back at him with a cheeky smile, “He let me keep it since it’s one of the few things that came with me other than the clothes on my back.”
“I see.” Vil hummed, closing the door behind him. Part of him wanted to ask why you had it in the first place, but something told him the answer wasn’t something he’d want to know. Then again…
“To train with that sword is the reason you go out late, isn’t it?”
You nodded hesitantly, “That’s right, I didn’t want to get rusty just because I’m not home. So I figured I should keep training.”
Vil watched as you kept cleaning the window, for a moment he could see your eye’s reflection flicker to him as the silence continued. If you were hiding something it was difficult to tell, nevertheless he continued on.
“I put a curse on your sword. If you try to train with it you’ll be locked in place, and I’ll know when you try.”
You whipped around with wide, almost terrified, eyes, “Vil! Why would you-“
The absolutely exasperated expression you held only reassured Vil’s conviction. If he was going to get you to sleep, this was how.
“It’ll only be for one night, that’s all I’m asking. 7 hours of sleep and the curse will be lifted.”
You frowned, still salty by the whole situation. For the limited amount of time you knew him, one thing you understood was that there was no way you would get out of this. You turned away from him with a hardened expression before letting it fall away. Your shoulders dropped as you nodded slowly, “Alright, deal. Just one night, right?”
“I would prefer it to be every night.” Vil sighed, “I told you all at least 7 hours each night at the beginning of this camp. Although I figured I would need to compromise for now.”
You bit your lip and tried to not let your worry show. Just one night.
It turns out one night meant one night of uninterrupted sleep. Safe to say you weren’t able to touch your sword for weeks.
After SDC and Vil’s overblot, you knew a few nights peace. Although you never managed to get a full nights rest, which meant your sword stayed cursed. It was just another night, and you had gone to sleep in hope you’d stay asleep until morning again.
Unsurprisingly to you, you had woken up nearly screaming. You had another nightmare, and with each one being more vivid than the last you didn’t see yourself falling asleep anytime soon. Shakily getting out of bed you reached for your sword to train and hopefully get it off your mind.
Unfortunately you remembered the curse. So before you could touch it you retracted your hand and decided to leave for the roof instead.
You took a few deep breaths, deciding to cry once you were sure you were safe from any prying eyes that laid in you dorm. Shakily, you took to the hallway and climbed the ladder to the roof of Ramshackle. Your little safe haven away from the stress residing under you.
You felt the cool air hit your face, only getting colder as the tears you held back began to fall. The dream was just so… real this time. It wasn’t even just other demon slayers and civilians getting killed, it was your friends here. They were supposed to be safe, especially with you around. But you just let them die in your arms, you were helpless again.
You curled yourself up into a ball, shaking violently as you sobbed. Terrible images still flashed through your mind, old scars felt as if they were burning in your skin as your mind took over your reality.
You tugged at your hair, your clothes, and even clawed at your skin in an attempt to ground yourself. Nothing worked, you were still trapped in your nightmare. So you continued to choke on your sobs as you fought through your memories.
Because of that, you didn’t notice Vil come up to the roof. Vil had known you still weren’t sleeping, so he had planned to catch you in the middle of the night. If it weren’t sword training, why were you waking up?
He wasn’t sure what to do when he saw you. You looked so small as you sat curled into yourself. You we’re nothing like the resilient, strong Prefect he knew you as. Rather, you resembled something more of a tragic hero.
Maybe it was because he felt partially responsible for this, or the fact he still wished for you to relax, but either way he approached you and put a gentle hand on your shoulder.
That was a bit of a mistake. Once you felt the foreign hand on you, you gasped and leapt back as if you were preparing to fight. Your eyes held nothing but utter horror as you stared at him, all red and puffy from your crying.
Vil frowned, his brows creasing his normally perfect face. He spoke slowly and softly, “I’m sorry, I did not mean to scare you.”
The tension never released from your shoulders. You stayed taut, as if you prepared to fight. Your eyes seemed almost glazed over, as if they didn’t even comprehend the space around you.
“Potato, are you alright?”
Somehow, upon hearing the nickname there was a flash of recognition. You relaxed a little, allowing your arms to fall to your sides. “Vil I…” You gulped, unable to find the words for a moment, “Why are you here..?”
Vil’s frown only deepened. He shook his head with a sigh, “I wanted to know why even after all this time my curse hasn’t lifted.” He crossed his arms, “Prefect, you may not be acting manager anymore but I still want you to at least get one full nights rest. You have so much potential, I just want you to realize that.”
Your expression changed to something unreadable. You seemed to be studying him, as if he was a puzzle you couldn’t figure out. For a moment you smiled before throwing your head in your hands, “You know, you really are kind, Vil.”
Your shoulders began to shake, “I’m so sorry, I guess I’m just not used to this. Normally I’m the one worrying about other people.” You laughed to yourself, as if you were trying to convince yourself of something. Vil stood by quietly, taking a few steps forward as you spoke again, “Vil, please, go back to your dorm. It’s cold out you know?”
“You’re right, let’s go inside.”
Too tired to argue, you allowed him to lead you inside the rickety dorm. You refused to look at him, a little ashamed by the way you allowed him to catch you at such a vulnerable moment. But you knew he had no ill intent, you just hoped he was prepared for the answers to the questions he no doubt had.
Vil sat on the couch and motioned for you to do the same. As you did he looked at you almost with pity. You were exhausted, shaking, and resembled more of a kicked puppy than anything. He sighed again and placed a bottle of swirling blue colors on the table, “It’s a sleeping potion.” He explained, “Normally I would not suggest you take it now, since you wouldn’t wake up until the afternoon by now, but…”
He looked at you again, you’re eyes were fixated on the bottle, and they were haunted. Void of life or hope, or even sadness or anger, just blank, barely even comprehending the world around them. He was sure that this was the right decision this time. You spoke softly, “Thank you, I appreciate it really, but I’d rather not.”
Vil’s eyes shot open, with you being on the verge of passing out, you’re really going to skip this opportunity of genuine sleep? Before he could retaliate you continued, “I have nightmares, as stupid as it sounds they’re the reason I can’t sleep. I don’t want to be stuck in one all night.” You finally looked at him, this time apologetically, “Thank you, truly. I’m honored you’re so invested in helping me. I…”
Your face fell into despair again as tears threatened to fall. You took in a shaky breath, “Vil, you don’t know what I’ve seen back home, what’s happened because of me and my weaknesses. If anything this is what I deserve.”
Vil stood up suddenly, his face switching between anger and exasperation, “I don’t know your life, yes, but I know you don’t deserve this!” He spoke firmly, never raising his voice, “You haven’t once slept properly since coming here have you? Or even before that? Prefect I-“ He took in a breath to calm himself, “Prefect, I just want you to realize the potential you hold. I won’t make you take the potion, but I will make you go back to sleep. So please, what can I do to help?”
Vil took your hand softly as more tears began to leave your eyes. Between shaky breaths you explained your nightmares and your life before Twisted Wonderland. Vil was actually a bit more shocked than he would’ve liked, but allowed you to continue. Rooks vague little sayings connected to your stories as he began to understand.
In the end he took you to your room, cleaning you up and going through a small skincare routine to relax. He brushed through your hair, anything to get the tension out of your shoulders.
You fell asleep almost immediately once you went to bed. You slept the best you had in years, and while yes you didn’t wake up until the afternoon even without the potion, the curse lifted from your sword. Safe to say, you and Vil were a lot closer than before.
“Prefect, don’t hesitate to ask for help alright? Proper sleep is just one more step for you to realize your full potential. You can be strong in more ways than one, and I want to lead you the best I can.”
Rook
As some of you may have guessed, he already knew.
This stalker could tell easily you were a warrior of some sort, it was only a matter of why.
He started trailing you from the start. Granted, he rarely did it until you truly piqued his interest.
You had caught him trailing at you. And while he was sure you couldn’t see him, you stared directly into his eyes, as if you were reaching for his very soul. It shook him to his core in more ways than one. It was at that moment he decided to take you more seriously.
He knew about your sword, your secret trainings, your uniform, your breathing technique, he just couldn’t quite figure what it was all for. He assumed you were a soldier of some kind, although why they would have someone so young so highly trained was another question.
He enjoyed watching you train, it brought a new and fresh perspective on beauty. The magicless prefect who still has a way to fight! And such a magnificent way too! The mysterious fog of it all excited him, he just needed to learn more.
Truth be told, you could tell someone was following and watching you. And you hated it, because why the hell was someone stalking you?? Demons didn’t exist here so there’s be no reason why someone would be out to kill you… right?
Because it truly didn’t feel that way. While you didn’t know it was Rook, it felt like you were prey being hunted. Which was a feeling you were all too familiar with.
At first you thought it was just nerves. Being in danger constantly then suddenly being thrown somewhere safe surely wouldn’t translate smoothly, but after feeling that way for months without any change you got sick of it.
You started to actively seek out your little stalker, and your first tip was actually the arrow Rook shot at you and your friends to announce their participation in SDC.
You felt the same presence, just like the months prior. Whoever it was was staring at you again, readying an attack. Eyeing for the perfect moment.
You turned your head at the perfect time, seeing the glint of an arrowhead whiz toward you. You caught it with utmost precision, but before you could track where it came from the attacker was gone.
It was easy to deduce that the arrow came from Rook (Ace and Deuce were very quick to point out how you actually caught an arrow from that freaky upperclassman after all) But her couldn’t be your stalker. You barely even met a few weeks ago!
But his presence never failed to grace you at least once every day. You could feel his chilling green eyes set on you, and you were determined to confront him.
So when SDC’s training camp rolled around, you figured that would be the easiest time to catch him. No way someone like him would pass up on the opportunity to look into your life so closely right?
You were right, actually. One night you could feel his eyes on you once again as you snuck out to train. You knew he’s watched you train before, so your element of surprise would be gone. But mage or not, there’s only so fast he could run compared to you.
So you left Ramshackle same as always, donned in your uniform with your sword by your side. You could already feel his eyes on you as you ran toward the forest. His presence would shift from time to time as he trailed you, but like a masterful hunter he kept out of sight.
After some time of running like normal, you decided to drop yourself out of his sight. You jumped into the low hanging trees and quickly hid.
From this angle you could see Rook in the branches, through the moonlight you could make out the smile he wore. His satisfaction and intrigue was obvious, even as he looked around confusedly for you. You quickly maneuvered yourself through the branches and crouched behind him.
Before you could do anything though, Rook twisted around with quite possibly the most ecstatic smile ever.
“To not only lose sight of you, but to have you sneak up on me must be my greatest embarrassment as a hunter!” He laughed joyously as he jumped away. “You truly are befitting of a trickster!”
As you chased him down it quickly became a game between you two. Once you caught up to Rook he would twist and maneuver out of your grasp and hide away, only for you to find him again. You let him win a little, seeing some fun in the chase. Eventually though, you figured it was time to actually catch him.
You made a dive toward him, one that he was unable to escape. As you pinned him to the ground you stared hard into his striking green eyes, “Why have you been following me, Rook?”
He laughed, “You must forgive me Trickster, your beauté mystérieuse was simply too alluring. I could not resist watching your beauty grow, guerrier.”
“Hmph.” You rolled off of him, sitting up on the grass as you watched Rook fix himself. You sighed deeply, “How much do you know? Or I guess, who else knows?”
“Roí de Poison is still unaware, I assure you.” He attempted to give a reassuring smile, “It’s come to my understanding that your power originates through breathing and not magic, yes? And that sword is not made of steel, nor any other metal here. You must also belong to some sort of organization with that uniform, are you a soldier perhaps?”
You tried to hide your surprise, (what could you expect really), as you confirmed his findings. You exchanged information for a while, eventually getting around to explaining demons and being a demon slayer.
Rook gave you undivided attention as he soaked all the information in. What a beautiful and radiant person you are! You were like a bright flame of hope that blazed your enemies and served your people. He wish you would let him sing your praises to others.
Rook continued to follow you around, now with your permission. Occasionally at night, you would play your game of chase again. Although Rook is yet to win, he enjoys the challenge and feeling of being the one hunted for once.
Both of you would show off your scars to each other. Retelling battles, or hunts, and the adventures. Rook would often go off on a tangent about the beauty of his particular prey, or the scenery around it. He loved the attention you gave him, and you appreciated the attention it took off of your less sugar coated tales.
Rook never looked at you in pity, nor in doubt. He believed you completely, and would often find himself ensnared in your tales. Rook found he loved hearing your retellings of anything from battles to lunches shared while traveling.
Although one night he noticed you weren’t up to your normal levels of energy. In fact, you looked a little heartbroken. While it has its own beauty, he absolutely couldn’t stand seeing you so distraught.
“Trickster, what causes you to frown so?”
You wordlessly leaned up against a tree, breathing deeply. You soaked in the earth around you as you tried to ground yourself. You were close to Rook now, despite the sketchy start. You couldn’t bring yourself to tell him anything but the truth (you wondered if you even could before he figured you out).
“Rook, my job back home was to save people. But I couldn’t save everyone.” You closed your eyes, biting your cheek as you fought down the memories, “Some days are worse than others, but I never forget them. That last part isn’t always a good thing.”
“I still see them sometimes, their screams, their bodies.” You bit back a sob, “Part of me doesn’t want to go back home. I don’t think I could stand telling another parent their child is dead.”
“But I need to go home, I know that more than anyone. I have a job, a duty to protect those people. Even at the cost of my life, I swore it, I I still intend to do that. So why do I feel this way?”
You laughed dryly, slowly sinking to the ground as you lifted your head to the stars. “You know, when humans grieve, they tend to look up at the sky. Do you think it’s just to avoid tears falling or something else?”
Rook stared at you silently before taking a seat next to you on the ground. “I believe we search for freedom when we look to the sky. Since dawn of time humans had wished to fly free with birds, so perhaps when we look to the sky that’s what we wish for. We wish for freedom from our sorrows and hardships; To fly away and embrace the sun.”
You smiled a little, “That’s what I like to believe too.”
Rook smiled pleasantly as comfortable silence fell over the two of you. You both looked to the stars as they shimmered and twinkled in all their glory. You have seen the night sky countless times, but somehow, being here in Twisted Wonderland, it all seemed new and bright. It wasn’t tainted by tragedies or bloodshed, it was beautiful.
Epel
He didn’t think about you too much initially. Mostly he was just amused over the whole event at orientation.
You seemed interesting enough with your choice of clothing. Maybe you were from a small town like him?
You became closer friends over the course of SDC. Both of you shared a sort of kinship over feeling so out of place in such a prestigious and modern environment.
You always appreciated the snacks he gave you. Many of the foods he provided were different from back home, sure, but the handmade feel reminded you so much of home.
Like Ace and Deuce, Epel found out by accident when he walked in on you working out.
You thought you’d be safe, after all you were in a tiny little room in the depths of Ramshackle. You just needed some time away from everyone in the dorm, but without the safety of the night you couldn’t leave to the forest for training.
Luckily with the help of the Ghosts you found a small room hidden away and some old gym equipment. Unfortunately it was hot af in there and if you covered up as much as you usually did you’d probably pass out. There were no windows to open, or any real ventilation for that matter.
So you wore normal workout clothes showing off your arms and legs, and to extension your scars. You thought nothing of it, completely unaware of the shitshow that was about to occur.
Epel was just exploring Ramshackle with Ace and Deuce. They started out looking for you but got distracted by the archaic building. They wanted to look around ok! Not like Ace was looking out for something interesting in the storage closet he could steal.
Eventually they came across a door a little off to the side and hidden in the halls. They just thought it was a storage closet and got interested, so they opened the door.
“Prefect! There you are. Jeez, we were looking for you everywhere.” “Wait, no! Epel don’t look!”
“Wha’ ihn da corn fiel’ hell ‘append to yur arms??!!”
“Ace! Deuce! All of you out!” You practically barked out as they scurried away. You sighed, you really couldn’t catch a break huh?
You put down your weights and attempted to refrain from kicking the door open. Has the idea of knocking seriously left their heads? You did not appreciate this trend at all.
“Sorry Prefect…” Deuce spoke meekly. Epel was off to the side, a little shaken. Like Ace and Deuce, initially he thought you were in something crazy. And here he thought you were just a magicless human! Maybe the two of you were alike somehow, for being misjudged because of ability.
“What did you three even need me for? Rehearsal isn’t going to start for another few hours.” You deadpanned, “Don’t tell me Grim got stuck in a tree again.”
“It don’ matta! Er ya evn’ gon menshun wha ‘appened?!” Epel motioned wildly to your exposed arms and legs. “I sen sum nasty scars befor’ bu wha coulda’ caused tha’?!”
“Rude.” You sighed again, waving them inside the little room, “I’m not going to let you interrupt my workout too. Come on, I’ll explain.”
Epel is initially a little horrified, after the initial shock though he’d think your so cool. Man or not, you exhibited the toughness and strength he always wanted.
Expect him to join you and Jack for workouts. He’s so excited to learn from the both of you, though he tries to be cool about it.
He loves hearing your tales about demons and the different types of slayers. A hashira that couldn’t match in strength found a way to use poisons instead? Amazing. The absolute tanks of men who are able to match the speed of demons? Please tell him more.
One day he did take you to his hometown. He was so excited to show off his pride to someone he respected so much. You were touched by the lack of modernity the city and NRC showed off. It felt closer to home, and you began to feel a bit homesick. Despite everything you still loved your home huh?
When was the last time you saw a forest this untouched by people? When was the last time you ate fruit straight from the source? Not to mention the stars, they were so much brighter here.
You tried hard not to let anyone see as the tears left your eyes gently. As you gazed up at the night sky, you wondered if you’d ever get back home, or if this was the closest you’d ever be.
“Prefect?”
You shout up from the grass you had been laying on, “Epel! Sorry I didn’t see you.” You quickly wiped your eyes, hoping the darkness would hide the puffiness of your eyes.
“What are you doin out here?“
You shrugged, “I wanted to look at the stars.”
Epel huffed, “It’s late, Vil would have a fit if he was here.”
“He’s not here though.”
Silence fell between the two of you for a moment. Eventually Epel joined you on the grass. The sounds of the night comforted the both of you as the silence continued.
“What we’re you thinking about out here?”
“What do you mean?”
Epel huffed, “No one comes out to lay on scratchy grass and look at the stars just for fun. Was something bothering you?”
You sighed a little, crossing your arms as you spoke quietly, “This town reminds me of my home. It’s small, nothing like the Night Raven College or any of the other cities I’ve seen here.” You smiled a little, “I missed it, the feeling of peacefulness. And for the record, some people do like stargazing.”
Epel rolled his eyes, but after a pause he asked again, “What was your hometown like then?”
You smiled, “Well, actually…”
As you recounted the stories of your childhood, you gradually forgot about your previous woes. Time flew by, eventually the both of you agreed to go to sleep.
The next day, all of you explored the town. You seemed happy enough, though Epel couldn’t shake the feeling that you weren’t completely telling the truth last night. So he decided to confront you again.
He found you again on the grass looking up at the stars. You were humming something to yourself, a lullaby?
Suddenly you came to a stop and sat up, “Hey Epel!”
“What was that? That melody?”
“It was a lullaby from back home.” You smiled, a little forlorn, “Sorry, I wasn’t bothering you right?”
Epel shook his head, “No, No, I was just curious. I came out here to…” His words trailed off, his confidence quickly dwindling. He readjusted himself, “You miss your home don’t you?”
You were a bit taken aback by the sudden forwardness, but ultimately nodded. “Yeah, it’s all I’ve really been able to think about lately. I mean…” You rested your head on your knees, “I’ve been here for so long. I need to know what’s happened since I’ve been gone. You know how it is, I don’t know who’s alive, or if I’d ever be able to find out.”
Epel frowned and took a seat next to you, “Come on, if they’re half as strong as you’ve told me they’ll be fine! And I’m sure Crowley will find a way home for you eventually.”
You laughed a little, “Thanks Epel.”
Silence fell over the two of you as you looked up at the stars. Comforting noises of insects and the rustle of leaves filled the air. Although the peacefulness didn’t last long, as the two of you heard a loud crash followed quickly by angry arguing between Ace, Deuce and Grim.
You sighed, at least no matter what you’d have these idiots to rely on.

Soothing what Remains : after avoiding the Pomefiore Dormleader like the plague since you learned of him, you can avoid him no longer. Vil Schoenheit, the most beautiful man you'd met or seen in the entirety of your life, had you alone in a room in Ramshackle Dorm. Platonic!Vil Schoenheit x GN!Reader
Synopsis : He had you take him personally to his guest room during his stay while he leads the training camp for the SDC. As their manager, he needs a word with you. The Fairest of them All is very aware that you've been avoiding him.
Warnings : eating disorder mentioned briefly. There is self harm mentioned and discovery. A lot of hidden scars are revealed. Gentle platonic touching. Difficult confession and a softer side unknown to the reader. Mild cursing and self degradation. Comfort but not coddling. General spoilers of the game up to the beginning to the middle of Book 5 in the game Twisted Wonderland, but the focus is not on the game. Everyone involved is over 21 years of age. Anything in italics is from Vil's point of view.
Author's Note : Vil has a special place in my heart. While beauty and self confidence are extraordinarily important, he's not incessantly cruel or heartless. At least not in my head canons, and based on what I've read and understood from the game. Very personal piece to myself, as someone who has struggled desperately with self harm. Edit - this really got away and personal for me, I hope you enjoy it
---
You escort Vil to his room. His confiscation of the treats from his troupe of dancers fresh in your mind. There was sympathy but despite it all, he hadn't been overly cruel about it and wasn't exactly wrong about why he did so. Still it was a shame you couldn't share the treats Trey had sent. Thankfully he wasn't forcing this new "lifestyle" on you or Grim. Your struggle with food was dark enough, and dealing with Grim would have been infinitely worse.
"So this will be your room specifically-" your explanation cut off by the harsh shutting of the room's door. "What was that about?" You asked, trying to hide you annoyance, despite it being evident in your look.
He did bow his head apologetically. "I closed the door a touch harder than intended, however I do require a bit of a ... chat with you." He said as he took a seat on the bed, poised and legs crossed elegantly. "Tell me little potato, why do you avoid me so much?" His gaze caught your own, seeming to just see straight through you.
"If I was avoiding you I wouldn't allow you to stay in my home." You replied, however it was evident that you were avoiding his gaze.
"I may be pretty Sweet Potato, but that doesn't make me dumb." He cut your excuses off with a click of his tongue, smoothing his forehead as the annoyance crossed his delicate features once again.
"Of course I didn't notice in the beginning. You a trouble making first year, and magicless to boot, and I the Housewarden of Pomefoire. We were not two people who would join face to face often, or really at all." He paused, eyes tracing over your form, an unexplainable look on his face, like he was lost in your form and how you became a part of his life.
"With each 'incident' " Vil resumed, referring to the Overblots. "You became more interesting. Even began to hear professors sincerely sing your praises. Despite your lack of magic, you excelled elsewhere."
"I can't be lazy or lax, headmaster made it quite clear he'll be happy to kick me out." You interrupt. How long had he had an interest in you? Why did it not just fade away? You'd done your best to not stand out otherwise. How did he realize your were actually avoiding him?
"Rook." Vil replied, answering the question you dare not speak out loud. "His interest was different from my own, but he has a habit of... hunting those who catch his eye. And he would cheerfully admit defeat as you used your comrades as a smoke screen to avoid his intrigue." Vil laughed lightly. "Very brave to try and out maneuver Rook. That little trick was your downfall. That's when I knew, yes, the Prefect of Ramshackle Dorm was indeed avoiding me, without a doubt."
"My only question is why?" The Fairest of them All firmly kept your gaze as he questioned your reasoning.
~~~
You look so very uncomfortable with his gaze. Vil couldn't fathom why, he had never done a thing to hurt you, never approached you. You weren't on bad terms with anyone in his dorm. Why did you tremble like a leaf when he his eyes rested on you?
"Your very being terrifies me. You're beautiful, confident, and you take matters into your own hands." You begin, actually trembling. "You've never hurt me, you've never bullied me, but I've been burnt before and you were too beautiful to trust."
Vil absorbs this in and lets you talk. He's not mad, still confused, but you did have real fear, that much he could tell. His eyes widened when you took off your jacket, revealing a dark secret that most wouldn't notice. "Wait-" he began, reaching a hand out and retracting it when you flinched.
Before him you were exposing something deeply personal and dark. To most, it wouldn't stand out much. To a man with a morning, noon and night skin routine, he could see all the faded scars.
"I'm broken and tired, and that was long before I got here." You began, soft voice still trembling slightly, hands running up and down your arms gently, as if reminding yourself of each self inflicted mark, the history of each one and the ragged reminders that marred your pale skin.
"I knew you'd be able to tell right away. Someone as strict as you with appearances? There's no way you wouldn't be able to tell that these were self inflicted." You laughed bitterly. "And this is just what is visible to the polite eye. The thought of anyone but myself knowing terrified me." Fat tears slowly began to slip and your lip trembled as you continued. "The judgment from someone as put together and confident as you would send me back to that dark space, and I'm all ready desperately trying to survive as is." You smiled sadly.
"So yes, thankfully for me, I noticed Rook's strange interest," you laughed quietly. "Call it experience of being hunted back home. Only this time I had friends. I could blend in with my Heartlabyul boys and Grimm. Azul was easy to use as an excuse, working for the lounge, so I always had 3 or more pairs of eyes, especially when I told the Tweels how uncomfortable Rook made me." You paused with a soft smile. "Floyd especially did not take that well, offering to 'squeeze' him. Of course I declined, Rook wasn't cruel or mean, I was just scared."
"Then there was of course Leona. As lazy as he appears, he takes my comfort very seriously, making sure to be around me whenever I needed 'alone time', using it as an excuse to nap either with or near me. So when Rook did show up, he'd be distracted by the sleepy lion, and Ruggie would help me slip away." You were proud to have found such comforting and genuine friends.
"And despite it all, you're here. I couldn't refuse you or Rook. Everyone is so excited about the SDC, how could I ruin that for them when they've done so much for me?" You used both hands and rubbed always the tears trying to regain control of your own emotions.
"Please Vil, please just leave me alone and I'll do my very best for your comfort and for the SDC. Even beyond the SDC, I'll run myself ragged for you. Please I'm begging you, please just leave me alone." You begged, starting to pull the jacket back on.
"Fuck." Was all that escaped Vil's pursed lips as he pulled you into an embrace, gently rubbing circles on your back with his left palm. "No. I refuse. I won't let you keep carrying your burden alone. I won't STOP bothering you until you see how strong and beautiful you are." He felt your flinch, but what he felt more were your tears as you pressed your face against his chest gently sobbing.
"You won't be alone with your thoughts anymore. I cannot share or bare your burden, but I can ease the affect it has on you. I can be here, I can pamper you, I can listen," he listed off everything he could think of, wanting to assure your comfort. "Sweet Potato, you're more beautiful then you know." He gently ran his hand over a still exposed scar, near invisible with time, but he knew skin better than most. "Each one is a sad story, with a beautiful ending. You survived Sweet Potato. Each is a badge of survival, and you deserved to survive." He assure you as he brushed away tears that he could.
"But you'll never need to hurt yourself again. I will make sure of it." He finished, closing his eyes and resting his cheek on the top of your head, gently humming a gentle soft sound as you both stood there embracing, letting this new feeling and friendship sink in.
Hi 👋🏻 can I request headcanons for Father Dio x daughter reader and Father Jonathan x daughter reader (separate pls) with how they would be as fathers.
Thankyou 🤗
Dio Brando and Jonathan Joestar as fathers (separate)
Platonic! Daughter! Reader
Warnings: grammatical mistakes, fem! Reader, kinda toxic parenthood, mentions of bullying, PB spoilers
Notes: OMG it's my first request, thank you SO much!!💓 Also I'm gonna assume that they are both from Phantom Blood, so if you also want SDC! Dio feel free to request again
Dio Brando
Tumblr media
Listen, I'm not saying he's a bad father
He will probably read books about caring for children - what to feed them, what to wear, etc.
And he will have everything a child needs
Maybe if she's well behaved he can buy her some gifts
In material terms, he is quite an ordinary parent, just with lots of money to provide high-quality things
But let's just admit, he wouldn't be the best for a kid
Most likely he will have high expectations
He doesn't want you to grow up like the rest of the plebs (in his opinion) around him
Expect many hours of teaching from your father himself before you even go to school
He will also teach you good manners, but at the same time achieving your goals whatever it takes
If you are bullied at school for the first time, he may threaten the bullies (they will remember it for a lifetime), but when you get older, he will insist that you do something about it yourself as he taught you
He's not very good at comforting. Perhaps if you break down in public he will take you aside and tell you not to expose yourself in such way in front of others
Things are better at home, you can cry in peace
I think Dio might say something like "you deserve better", "you're better than all this garbage", "you'll take your pedestal", etc. during this
Maybe he'll bring you tea with your favorite food
Most likely he will initiate physical contact (something like hugs and such) only for a public, at home he practically doesn't do this
If you link it to the PB lore, Dio will most likely turn you into a vampire, or at least take you with him
Jonathan Joestar
Tumblr media
Best JoJo time
Most likely, he will also read books about caring for a child, but will very often confuse something
Ultimately, he will ask for advice from people around him
When you were a baby, he almost dropped you three times on the floor, he was scared to death
Unlike Dio, Jonathan buys gifts for his daughter even when she misbehaves
He simply collects these gifts and gradually gives them when the situation gets better
He wants you to be properly educated, including physically
(I know it might have been frowned upon in those days, but Jonathan wouldn't care, he'd want his daughter to stand up for herself)
Will definitely read bedtime stories and roll you on his shoulders until you're at least 7 years old (keep in mind that he's really strong)
Maybe he can teach you what he knows about hamon and even train you
If you get bullied, then he will most likely talk to the parents of the bullies, but if this doesn't help, then he will have to talk to them personally
You will both go grocery shopping in the town and discuss something along the way
But the most important thing is that he will teach you to treat this world with kindness, not to hold a grudge against people and be at peace with yourself
He is better than Dio emotionally
You can calmly cry even in public and he will give you the comfort you need
If you are not against physical contacts, then he will hug you and lightly pat on the shoulder
"We'll break through this", "things will get better", etc. could be heard a lot from him
Definitely will make you your comfort food
Also something tells me he wouldn't mind if you walk in trousers. He doesn't care about reputation and the like, he doesn't see anything wrong with your preferences
BROO ALL MY FAVORITE WRITERS ARE OPENING THE INBOX, CHRISTMAS CAME EARLY FR OK OK SO JJBA part 3 Stardust crusaders headcannons (I'm so original, I know) everyone lives au (bc if I simply close my eyes no one died on that journey, it DIDN'T HAPPEN) I like to think the crusaders and reader meet up again after like a year or two after the journey, and I just wanna see reactions of everyone seeing eachother again, the reader looking totally different (for the better!!) And all I can think about is just the shenanigans they'll all get up to after not seeing eachother for like two years. (They kept in touch via letters mostly!) I like to think Jotaro and Kakyoin actually see eachother everyday because Kak tranferred schools :') so they besties. Platonic crusaders give me so much serotonin. You can pick whatever theme you want on what they'd all do, (maybe Christmas themed since its getting close to that time?? Up to you though!!)
I LITERALLY LOVE THAT I AM THE ONE TO REVIVE THE CRUSADERS!!! I love this idea and have some great headcanons, so thank you for the request!!!
Tumblr media
seriously tho, i love this idea
you were very pleased to get a letter from Holly inviting you over to her home
it had been over two years since you had seen the crusaders last, the only words spoken to each other through brief letters sent back and forth
you were expecting to only see jotaro and maybe kakyoin because the letter was from holly and only asked you to come over for a week
it was also perfect timing because it was right around christmas, so you had bought a bunch of gifts, not knowing who else would be there
you showed up to the house and were immediately greeted by holly and a big hug as she took the gifts from you, putting them under a small tree she had set up for the season
you and her ended up talking for a little while about what you had been up to and she told you that you looked fantastic!!
after a bit, you heard the door open and stood up to find not only jotaro at the door, but kakyoin as well!
you ran over to them and jumped in their arms
they both looked at you in shock, telling you how good you looked and you said the same
you thought it was nice that jotaro and kakyoin had each other after something like egypt because that was quite the experience
seeing them smiling together made you really happy
you handed them two presents that you thought they would like and they opened it rapidly with bright smiles on their faces thanking you
surprisingly, you guys dont talk about your travels to egypt, instead you all talk about what you're currently up to
and then suddenly, you hear a ring at the door
holly opens it and you werent even prepared for the attack of iggy jumping on you and giving you kisses all over your face. you giggled and hugged him, soon getting a small kiss on the cheek from polnareff, telling you how great you look
you sat up completely and saw all of the group and couldnt help but smile
everyone was here again
avdol looked great, bringing some tarot cards to do everyone's reading
joseph was still the same
and polanreff had a bright look on his face, very happy to be surrounded by everyone again
he had been the most lonely only with iggy, so he's just super thrilled to be back
you gave everyone their corresponding presents and you even got some yourself
you ended up all having dinner and talking before you all worked hard to clean up together, splashing dish water on each other and using your stands to play tag or hide and seek
you all ended up staying up until midnight watching some really bad movie and all ending up in weird positions falling asleep in each other's arms
the rest of the week was great, walking all around jotaro's hometown and telling each other jokes
there were small mentions of your time in egypt, but for now, you were building a new future together <333
Hiya!!
Can you do a (platonic if you can) sdc x reader who loves to draw and make comics? it would be so wholesome. :)
thank you!!
Ofcccc!
SDC x reader who loves to draw and make comics [platonic]
Jotaro
Joseph definitely read him he favorite comics when he was a kid so he enjoys them
When he sees you drawing he wants to comment on it but doesn't want to like...be weird about it (stop overthinking joot)
You'd probably have to call him out on him watching you from afar
He's sooooo excited if you ask him to look at your work (doesn't show it tho)
His relaxing time now is usually spent in your company, watching you draw
Kakyoin
It's cannon that he loves manga so he would be SUPER into it from the start
Definitely info dumps about all his favorites to you bc he hasn't had anyone else to talk to and loves listening to you talk about drawing and the whole process
Likes to watch and compliments you on your work
Brings you things to drink/eat as you are working so you can stay productive
Polnareff
Doesn't really get it at first bc I feel like he didn't grow up with comics like the other two
Once you explain it to him though get prepared for about a thousand questions about the entire process
Constantly volunteering himself to help you with posing by being your model
Is right behind you whenever you work which can get kinda annoying but he's just really excited to see something you're passionate about
Oldseph
I'm like 99% sure it's cannon he read comics in part 2
So he is sooooo excited when you tell him that something you like to do
Whips out his old comic book collection to show you
Buys you like new supplies like every time he's out (supportive grandpa!)
Asks if you can draw him all the time since he's always wanted to see what he would look like as a flashy comic character
Avdol
Doesn't want to pry and ask to many questions but don't let that fool you he'd absolutely adore learning about your hobby!
Wants to know everything, the drawing, the coloring, the story process, he's going to soak up as much knowledge as possible
Chases people away when you are working so that you can have a quiet space to work
Shows you yoga and exercises to help with a sore back after hunching over the paper for so long and holding onto a pencil for hours
Could honestly fall asleep to sound of your pencil scratching the paper and sometimes does on accident
Can we get some SDC boys reacting to y/n confessing their love to them while away from the group? (Ps I’m also a polnareff fangirl eek)
This took so goddamn long I am so sorry. I have been working on this forever but kept getting stuck and distracted but anyway here we are!
Confessions
Warnings for the rest of the parts: general fluffy stuff, some angst, kissing in Joseph's part
Warnings for Polnareff's part specifically because I got horny during his. Sorry: NSFW, descriptions of sex, afab!reader, I tried to keep the scene vague, orgasms, unprotected sex (implied birth control use)
--
You weren’t sure when you started to fall for him. Was it love at first sight? Was it a slow build of feelings? Was it a sudden pulse of attraction? It’s like your mind blurred whenever you thought about it. You supposed it didn’t really matter. All you knew was, at the last leg of your journey with the crusaders, only a few days before reaching Dio’s mansion, you had to tell him. If it was the last thing you did, you had to.
You promised yourself that you’d tell, and would live with his answer, regardless of what it was. The future of everyone’s lives was at stake facing such a powerful enemy. You refused to die without telling him your feelings. It was the right thing to do. Right?
And so, having asked to share a room with him for the night, you had the perfect opportunity to confess. It’s just. . . it’s like you couldn’t get the words out.
Jotaro Kujo
“You okay over there?” Jotaro asked, donning his usual uniform as he laid on his bed. The television droned on in front of him. His hat was off for once, placed on his nightstand. You always liked when he took his hat off. He looked so nice. Well, he always looked nice. In an attractive sort of way, that is. He had the exact opposite of a kind face. Still, there was something lurking just under the surface that gave you. . . comfort?
As of late you couldn’t even look at him without your feelings overwhelming you, leading to a flustered goodbye as you made your exit. It was highly embarrassing, and yet you couldn’t help it. Not only were you desperately pining, you also got stuck falling for a guy who calls his own mother a bitch. Lucky you.
Currently, you sat on your chosen bed, already in your pajamas, with a worried look on your face. When you heard your companion’s words, you lifted your head up to meet his gaze. He stared, unwavering.
“I’m fine,” you replied, quickly diverting your eyes to the T.V. “I’m just. . . thinking about how to say something, I guess.”
“What do you mean, how to say something?” he quipped, rolling his eyes as he spoke. “Just say what you mean. There’s no point in thinking too much about it. If you know what to say, then spit it out. It’s annoying when people try to sugar-coat things.”
“If you fell in love with someone. . . would you tell them?” you murmured back. You pulled your knees to your chest, resting your chin on them as you wrapped your arms around yourself pathetically. You felt so. . . small at the moment. How were you supposed to save the world if you couldn’t even speak your feelings? “There’s, well, someone I want to confess to before we all face Dio, but I don’t know if I should.”
“Is that what’s bothering you? Good grief. Just tell them. I’m guessing it’s someone in our group, right? If they can stand traveling almost 50 days with you, then they won’t just abandon you if you confess.”
You let out a sigh. How pitifully ironic. He was giving you advice to confess even though he was the one you needed to confess to. “I guess. . . I just promised myself I’d spill, too. . . but I just don’t know. . .”
“It’s Kakyoin, isn’t it?” Jotaro gruffed. “You two are always sharing a room, talking with each other about fuck-knows what.”
You shook your head, stifling a laugh at his odd use of foul language. “He’s a sweetheart and I do adore him, but only platonically. It’s not him.”
“Polnareff then.”
You shook your head again. “I love him like a brother. It’s not him either.”
“Avdol.”
Another head shake. “Just another good friend.”
Jotaro’s face curled into a disgusted expression. “The shitty old man?”
You let out a breathy laugh. “Absolutely not. God, that would be weird, especially given—”
“It has to be Kakyoin then,” he interrupted. “I named everyone.”
Taking in a breath, you shook your head. He could be so. . . clueless sometimes, despite his street-smarts. “It’s. . . you, Jotaro. I’ve fallen for you, you dumbass.”
He stared at the television screen, dumbfounded. He moved to pull his hat down, but it wasn’t on his head. His normally annoyed expression blossomed into a red and flustered visage. He ran a hand through his hair, speechless. He didn’t even grunt at your crude nickname.
You had to admit, an embarrassed Jotaro looked kind of cute. You knew underneath his facade there was something else. Someone vulnerable and emotional and. . . adorable.
“Good grief. . . me? Why?” he turned to look at you and you shrugged, pulling at the strings of your pajamas.
“I dunno,” you replied dumbly. “It’s just what my heart decided. I’m just along for the ride.”
Noriaki Kakyoin
“Hey, did you hear me?” the red-head questioned, pulling you from your love-sick daydreams. You sat in the hotel’s arm chair, nestling your curled body against the comfortable cushions. Your eyes moved to look at Kakyoin laying on the hotel bed, already in his pajamas. He had a book in his hands, though he didn’t seem very interested in reading it given that he had been trying to talk to you for the past few minutes.
He huffed, shutting the book and setting it to his side. He sat up, leaning forward to capture your full attention. “What’s up with you lately? You’ve been out of it. Are you feeling okay?”
You nodded halfheartedly, sighing as you leaned against the chair, eyes now darting aimlessly around the ceiling. “Physically? Fine. Mentally? Like I’ve been hit by a bus.”
Kakyoin frowned, scooting to the edge of the bed. He swung his legs off, facing your chair tucked in the corner of the room. You reluctantly uncurled yourself, wordlessly sitting next to him. The bed cushioned around you. You knew he would want to pry sooner-or-later. And you also knew you weren’t about to get away from this conversation now that he brought up your moody state
“Talk to me,” he said. “Who’s been bothering you?”
“Don’t you mean what?”
“No. I mean who. The only consistencies with our trip have been people. Us and the enemies. So who is it?”
You huffed. “You’re too perceptive sometimes, ya know that?”
“So I’m right. It is a who.”
“Yes, yes,” you confirmed. “It’s something regarding someone that has been gnawing at me and it’s really messing with my mental state. . .”
“Is this about Polnareff and his flirting with you? That man can’t restrain himself around pretty women. It’s really something he needs to work on.”
Your heart skipped a beat. He just called you pretty. Kakyoin just called you pretty! You stifled the urge to clap in happiness. You quickly composed yourself, crossing your arms. “No, that doesn’t bother me. He just does it to be sweet now. And I appreciate the compliments he gives me. Trust me, if I wasn’t okay with it, you know how it would end.”
He clicked his tongue, thinking. “Is it the opposite, then? Do you have feelings for him?”
You waved that idea off. “He’s a gentleman and all, but not really my type. Too. . . well, just too much, really.” You laughed softly.
“Hmm. I see. What’s wrong, then? You know you can talk to me. And it’s better to say what you feel than holding it inside. That’s dangerous, even, with what we’re doing.”
“I know, I just—what if, when I say what I feel, I ruin everything? With the end of this trip getting closer and closer every day, I am petrified of losing him not only as a friend, but as someone in my life.”
He tucked a strand of his hair aside, looking you in the eyes. Gently, he placed a hand on your knee. “Well then, you have nothing to lose, then, right? Who knows what will happen days from now. Not anyone! It’s stupid to worry about losing this person if we’re all ending up at the same place anyway. We all have a goal. Defeat Dio. And nothing you say to any of us will change that. I assure you.”
You let out a shaky sigh. “Well, since you’re so sure of yourself—I’ve had feelings for you—I do have feelings for you. Since I can’t remember when. It feels like we’ve known each other for years. And I can’t get you out of my head.”
He let out a laugh. A laugh that fluttered the butterflies in your stomach. “Wow. I—I’m not laughing at you. I just—I’m such an idiot. All this time, and I could’ve told you my own feelings from the start?”
“I don’t understand. . .”
He moved his hand upwards, squeezing your thigh. His other hand gently caressed your heated cheeks. “Don’t you get it? I feel the same way.”
Muhammad Avdol
It was the most frustrating thing, falling for the person you’d usually talk to about stuff like this. He was always there for you, listening to every word you had to say and giving honest advice—though some were not perfect. That was part of why you loved him so much, though. He cared enough to try to understand and help solve your issues, even if he didn’t succeed. You weren’t even sure when ‘love’ became ‘in love’. It was like one day you woke up and couldn’t stop picturing a future with him. Was it the ever-decreasing days to get to Dio? Was it too long in the desert heat? Did you hit your head? Who knows. Did it really matter? All you knew was you were down bad, and as much as you tried, you couldn’t hide it from him.
Of course, Avdol took note of your new attitude change, but you kept brushing his concerns aside. It wasn’t like you could tell him he was the reason for it. It’s just. . . you’d rather have him as a friend forever than confess to him and lose him. You couldn’t bear the thought of not having him in your life anymore. Remaining as a pining friend was good enough for you.
And yet. . . you couldn’t even sleep without dreaming of him. It was pathetic, honestly. You felt like a middle-schooler with the way you were crushing on him.
You clutched your head in frustration, sitting up in bed. It was near pitch black in the hotel room, but you could just barely make out the figure of Avdol sleeping in the bed next to yours.
Fighting back a sigh, you crawled out of bed, making your way to the only window in the room. You pried it open, enjoying the cool air enveloping your tired body. Lazily, you leaned against the sill, eyes drooping but resisting the urge to shut permanently. You basked in the moonlight, hoping that it would somehow drown out all of your issues. You were completely lost as to what to do, but maybe just looking at the stars for a while will give you some sort of clue.
Unbeknownst to you, a form stirred in the darkness, and he sat up groggily. Avdol began to open his mouth, but your figure in the moonlight gave him pause. He missed seeing your face so calm. Recently, you’d only thrown him scattered glances and hurried responses. It was strange. It was like something had possessed you, puppetting you around against his wishes. He would do anything to have a complete conversation with you again. But as of late he couldn’t keep his head on straight. Any comments he could think of were washed away in the tide of your curious eyes and bright smile.
You had Avdol wrapped around your finger and you didn’t even know it. He just needed to tell you. But the courage always drained before he got the chance.
A sudden surge struck him, infiltrating his mind before he could stop himself. “Can’t sleep?”
He said softly, careful not to startle you.
You turned to look at your companion, his groggy appearance and tilted bonnet only adding to his sleepy charm. A smile graced your features. “Yeah. Sorry. Did I wake you?”
“It’s alright. What’s bothering you?” he asked, sliding out of bed to join you in your stargazing. His hands rested against the window sill, brushing against yours.
“I’ve been thinking about you,” you blurted out, filter clogged with sleepiness. Did you just say that out loud?
He laughed his usual deep rumbling laugh. “That’s flattering. I’ve had you on my mind, as well.”
“All good things, I hope?”
“Very.”
Your face burned. Did he call out his stand? Why did you suddenly feel so hot? “Like what?”
“I’m not sure if I should say,” he confessed, a large hand moving overtop yours. He traced your digits absentmindedly, as if studying your hand’s every detail. “I’m not usually a shy man, but you’ve cast a spell on me. Admittedly, I’ve missed times like this with you. You’ve been so distant lately. Have I done something wrong?”
You shook your head. “No, not at all. The opposite, actually. I’m afraid that if I. . . even look at you, I’ll. . .”
“Fall in love.”
Your voices overlapped, echoing in the small space. His hand intertwined with yours.
“I’m a fortune teller. I had a feeling.”
You instinctively tried to curl away, but he pulled you in close. You could feel his soft night clothes against your skin. Smell his warm and fiery scent. Hear his heart beating rhythmically in his chest. He was so close. So close you could. . .
Wordlessly, his lips met yours.
Jean Pierre Polnareff
Ironically, you and he were too busy enraptured in a deep kiss for you to speak your mind, his fingers trailing lower and lower down your abdomen. It was something you and he often did—sleeping with each other not for love, but for a stress reliever. Someone to be close to. To feel. To touch. To explore. You both had a shared need to wash away your clouded minds, and so you came to a mutual agreement. At the beginning, you both made it perfectly clear there were no strings or feelings attached. It was just lust. Temporary highs the two of you craved that could eventually be set aside once you parted ways.
The distant feeling of fingers spreading you open flashed in your brain.
But there was a problem. It wasn’t just lust anymore. All the flirting and teasing and fucking, well, somewhere in all that you started to fall in love. You didn’t want to go your separate ways after all this. You didn’t want to find a new friend with benefits. You wanted him. Not just sensually. But romantically. You wanted to see and experience every part of him.
Your core lubricated quickly, his steady fingers working you in all the right places.
But. . . to change your current relationship? That was something you were too afraid to initiate. What if he leaves you all together? What if—
“Spread your legs for me, cherie.”
You almost forgot your current situation, pinned down and naked under a muscled Frenchman horny-out-of-his-mind. You obeyed his command, your legs sliding to rest on either side of his massive thighs as he steadied himself.
A familiar fullness rutted within you, and like always, you felt a breathless high begin to build. Though you and he had done this many times, and you were practically shaped for him now, it still drove you crazy. With every stroke inside, you gasped in silent pleasure, and your nails dug into his toned back as he continued his fluid but fast pace. He was never one to hold back, especially after a long but stressful day.
You knew he was close as his pace turned sloppy, and your own orgasm threatened to burst from your stuffed entrance.
He moaned breathlessly in your ear, his cum spilling to splatter your walls. Your entire body twitched in anticipation. Delicate hands gripped his head in support as you came harshly. There was only one sentence on your lips as you drowned in your high. “Don’t leave me.”
Polnareff, lips pressed against your neck as he marked your skin, groped your breast in response. He was never good at this falling in love stuff, so he figured he’d show his true feelings rather than tell.
“I’m here, cherie,” he whispered, kissing up your jawline. “I’ll always be here.”
Joseph Joestar
You would think you’d be embarrassed about liking a man who was older than your father when you weren’t even thirty yet, but the way your heart pounded when you looked at him felt too good to feel bad about. You couldn’t help it.
So what he was pushing 70? His body, mind, and wit were as sharp as ever. He gave you goosebumps at every slight touch. His handsome smile made you swoon.
He was the man of your dreams.
But how to tell him. . . ?
You bit your lip, busying yourself with the hotel’s notepad. You scribbled mindlessly in a useless attempt to calm your mind. He’d be up any minute now, just finishing his drink at the bar.
Letting out a groan, you decided to clear your thoughts with a shower. Hopefully the rushing water would drown everything out.
You rustled through your bag, grabbing your pajamas and fresh undergarments. Padding to the bathroom, you tossed your change of clothes on the counter before turning on the water.
You let out a sigh as you tested the temperature with your palm, feeling the hot shower soothe your flushed skin. You pulled your hand out, stripping quickly. You quickly shut the door before stepping in.
Perfect. No thoughts. Just hot water and steam. You closed your eyes, muscles relaxing. . .
The room door opening alerted you to Joseph’s entrance. Ignoring the fluttering in your chest, you began to wash yourself.
A second door opening shocked you, and you turned to see the shadow of Joseph enter the bathroom. Good thing the shower curtain wasn’t see-through.
“I’m in here!” you called over the sounds of running water.
“I’ll only be a second, I’m just brushin’ my teeth before headin’ to bed!” he replied.
Despite everything, your heart raced in nervousness.
Panicking, you misstepped, leading to your soaked body tumbling against the shower curtain. It whipped outward, leaving you falling towards the ground. You let out a gasp, preparing to hit the hard bathroom tile.
Muscled arms grasped your body, pulling you against a firm chest. Grasping for anything to steady yourself, you latched onto his shoulders, leaving you pressed up against his body as you regained your footing.
After the immediate shock of almost colliding with the floor left you, your new situation flooded your senses.
Joseph must’ve felt your heart pounding because he moved his hands away, making sure you were steady before backing away entirely.
You snatched your towel from the rack, quickly covering your nude form.
“You okay, sweetheart?” he asked, concern in his gravelly voice.
You nodded, catching your breath. “I’m so sorry,” you whimpered, embarrassment overwhelming you. What a horrible situation. What the hell were you supposed to do now?
“I’m the one that came in unannounced and scared ya,” he replied, rubbing his neck. “Sorry this old man had to see ya naked.”
“I’d rather it was you than anyone else,” you blurted out. Your eyes widened as you covered your mouth. Jesus Christ. Get a grip! What the hell was that? “Sorry! That was wrong of me to say! I just mean. . . “
“Just mean. . .?”
Pushing aside your nervousness, you began to speak. “Look, I, uhh, I don’t know how to say this without sounding not weird, so. . . I guess I’m just gonna say it. I have, umm. . . well. . . feelings for you. And I have for a while now. Like. . . romantic feelings.”
“Wha—are—me? Sweetheart, did you hit your head just now?”
You shook your head, pulling the towel tighter against you as your body shivered with anxiety. You wanted to curl up and die at the moment. Why would you confess? He obviously would just be weirded out. What was wrong with you? “No, I—, Sorry,” you mumbled. “Just forget I said anything. I just needed to get it off my chest. . .”
He placed a tentative hand on your head, ruffling your hair. “You don’t want an old geezer like me,” he muttered.
In a sudden burst of angry energy, you grabbed his hand, pulling it down and meeting his eyes. You couldn’t take it anymore. You needed him to reject you once-and-for-all. You couldn’t live in suspense anymore. You needed to hear him say no. Maybe then you’d finally drop your crush. “Don’t gimme that. Just tell me to get dressed and leave and we can both pretend this never happened. Don’t sugar-coat it. Please. I can’t have my stomach in knots over you anymore.”
He swallowed thickly, embarrassment coating his cheeks. His bright eyes stared into yours. “I, uhh, I can’t.”
“Why not?” you whispered, bringing his hand against your chest to feel your racing heart. “Please, just tell me you don’t see me like that. Tell me you don’t want me. I need to hear it. I need to hear it to get you out of my head, Joseph.”
He moved his other hand to caress your cheek. “I told ya, I can’t. With you standing here like this. . . all I wanna do is make you mine. I can’t say I don’t want ya, because I do. And it’s all I can think about.”
You stepped forward, pressing yourself against him. “Then make me yours.”
Lips crashed into yours.
