Ronance as Batman and Catwoman but Nancy as Batman and Robin as Catwoman just for the sheer hilarity of their first meeting not remotely going how they thought it would.
Like, Robin’s heard all about the big, bad bat that took down the mob, foiled the Joker, fought Bane and has terrorised the criminal underworld. She’s seen hardened criminals shaking while telling her about their encounters with the vigilante, swearing it can’t be human. Nancy’s been tracking a number of robberies targeting the rich and corrupt, hearing stories of a woman who can break in, take what she wants and leave without anyone noticing, even highly trained security teams.
They finally meet when Nancy finds Robin stealing from someone she’s investigating. Robin’s expecting some huge, over six foot, burly man dressed as a bat, not this ball of angst and rage who’s top of the head only just reaches her eyes while in heavy boots (she later finds out about the red-headed spitfire sidekick in the red and green suit, and discovers Nancy’s identity after her annoying little brother and his friends come into the Batcave to convince her to let them drive the Batmobile). Meanwhile, Nancy thought the theft would be some graceful and sly master of her craft, but then Robin’s tripping over her own feet, talks at a mile a minute and has a terrible time understanding social cues (they go back to Robin’s apartment when they decide to team up, where she has her numerous cats all named after characters from noir movies and lives with her best friend who just so happens to be Nancy’s ex-boyfriend from high school.)
(This is definitely not an excuse for Robin is some cool catsuit with her patches and Nancy’s jawline à la Pattinson’s Batman. Or for Nancy to pin Robin to a table.)

PORTRAYAL SUMMARIES, UNTIL DETAILED BACKSTORIES ARE WRITTEN UP PLEASE FEEL FREE TO IM ME AROUND ANY QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE.
EDWARD MUNSON, PULLED AWAY FROM CANON AND WRITTEN AS AN ORIGINAL CHARACTER; DEATH FOLLOWS. THE EVENTS IN HAWKINS HAPPENED BUT HE SURVIVED THE UPSIDE DOWN, A WANTED MAN AND BRANDED A MURDERER, HE COULDN'T RETURN HOME. BELIEVED DEAD HE TOOK HIS OPPORTUNITY, AND MADE A RUN FOR IT. THIS JUST HIS JOURNEY AFTER. / ALSO LIKELY TO WRITE HIM WITH THE DAISY JONES AND THE SIX UNIVERSE.
HARTLEY 'HART' MONROE, ORIGINAL CHARACTER AFFILIATED WITH NONPAREIL'S TEDDY. ROUGH START FOR THIS BOY, NOT A GREAT FAMILY LIFE, JOINED THE RAF, WORKED THROUGH THE RANKS, NOW A GROUP CAPTAIN, KNOWN FOR HIS SUCCESSFUL RECKLESS MANEUVERS AND RISK TAKING.
JAMES BARNES, MOSTLY COMIC CANON BUT WITH ADAPTED TIMELINE. TIME PERIOD AFTER ESCAPING HIS TIME AS THE WINTER SOLDIER IS ONLY BRIEFLY SEATED WITHIN A REDEMPTION ARC, HE DECIDED AGAINST IT AFTER 8 YEARS. IN THAT TIME HE WORKED ALONGSIDE SHIELD (HATED IT) AND THE AVENGERS (ALSO HATED IT), HE HAS COME TO ACCEPT THAT HIM AND TWS ARE TWO DIFFERENT PEOPLE, AND SO SHOULD THE WORLD. HIS IDENTITY AS WINTER SOLDIER IS PUBLICLY KNOWN. BUT HE NOW WORKS FREELANCE/SEMI RETIRED, HAS A CAT CALLED ALPINE AND A SERVICE DOG CALLED SARGE. JUST DON'T FORGET, HE WAS ONCE CONSIDERED ONE OF THE WORLDS DEADLIEST ASSASSINS.
NATASHA ROMANOVA, FIRST YEARS ARE PRACTICALLY IDENTICALLY TO THAT OF THE COMICS. ONLY AFTER DEFLECTION DOES HER STORY CHANGE. INSTEAD OF TAKING A PATH OF REDEMPTION AND EVENTUALLY TO A HERO, SHE FALLS INTO GOTHAM, A MORALLY QUESTIONABLE DESTINATION. THERE SHE CREATES 'THE WEB' AN INTERACTIVE GALLERY IN WHICH SHE USES AS A GUISE. HER LIFE IS ABOUT SURVIVAL, INDEPENDENCE AND SPINNING SOMETHING OF HER CONTROL. WHILST HER INTENTIONS ARE CRIMINAL, THE TRUE PEOPLE WHO BENEFIT FROM HER ACTIVITIES ARE THOSE WHO WAS IN A SIMILAR SPOT TO HER. THIS WOMAN IS NEVER WHAT SHE SEEMS TO ANYONE. / I AM OPEN TO HER BRIEFLY WORKING WITH THE AVENGERS BUT I DON'T THINK IT WOULD END THE WAY IT DOES IN THE FILMS/COMICS.
PAMELA ISLEY, MOSTLY SIMILAR TO THE COMICS, THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS THAT I WANT HER TO BE INSPIRED BY THE SNAKE IN EDEN. SHE IS THE GARDEN, BLOOMING BUT SHE IS ALSO THE SNAKE. SHE IS THE ONE WHO TEMPTS YOU TO DECEPTION, WHO WILL CHALLENGE YOUR MATERIAL ATTACHMENT TO THE WORLD AROUND.
SELINA KYLE, INSPIRED BY DANTES INFERNO : NINE CIRCLES, NINE LIVES, EACH IN RELATION TO THE SIN AND PUNISHMENT. EACH LIFE HAS AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT TIMELINE, EXAMPLES : 7TH VIOLENCE AGAINST SELF/DAISY JONES AND THE SIX , 8TH FRAUD/GOTHAM AND CATWOMAN AND 9TH TREACHERY/THE WALKING DEAD.
SIF, ORIGINAL LORE, COMIC AND MYTH ONLY. SISTER TO HEIMDALL AND SHARES HIS ALL SEEING POWER, SHE BASED PREDOMINATELY ANYONE BUT ASGARD. WAS ONCE MARRIED TO THOR, NOW SEPARATED. IS THE GODDESS OF WAR AND WATCHER OF THE NINE. SPENDS MORE TIME NOW HELPING LANDS RECOVER AFTER WARS.
SPENCER REID, SEASONS 1-9 ONLY. LILA/MAEVE ISN'T MY CANON, SORRY. PREDOMINATELY THE SAME AS SHOW CANON, PREVIOUS DRUG ADDICT, SOME VERSES IN WHICH HE IS STILL RECOVERING. WILL INFO DUMP ON YOU AT ANY GIVEN MOMENT. LOVES HIS MOM.
STEVE ROGERS, COMIC BASED. NGL I HAVEN'T WORKED OUT TOO MUCH WITH HIM. BUT HE'S JUST A BIT MORE ROUGH AROUND THE EDGES THAN YOU SEE IN MCU.
SUSAN 'SUZIE' GLASS, DAUGHTER OF BOBBY GLASS, ONE OF THIRTEEN MOB BOSSES THAT OPERATE THEIR OWN MARIJUANA RINGS IN THE UK, INCREDIBLY POWERFUL AND INFLUENTIAL. SUSIE IS CURRENTLY OVERSEEING THE OPERATION WHILST HER DAD SERVES TIME IN PRISON, IT'S NOT ONLY A CHANCE TO PROVE HERSELF BUT ALSO GROW HER BUSINESS AND CONTACTS. SHE'S INCREDIBLY WELL RESPECTED, CLEVER AND RESOURCEFUL. BUT WARNING, SHE CAN BE A THREAT AND SHE NEVER HAD TO GET HER OWN HANDS DIRTY.

The saga of the Huntress and the Question (so what do you think their ship-name should be? Let me know in the comments!)
[All images are owned by DC Comics and Warner Bros Discovery. I hope I’m too small-fry to sue...]
In Justice League (Unlimited), and in fact the entire Dini-verse, despite the fact that it was written for a younger audience, there are a large number of themes that surprisingly mature. One theme is romance.
Obviously Batman has Catwoman and Talia Al-Guhl and Superman has Lois Lane. However, the two Justice League series has four (including a love triangle)!
Tumblr media
Green Arrow and Black Carnary
Tumblr media
John Stewart and Hawkgirl…
Tumblr media
…as well as Vixen
Tumblr media
Batman and Wonder Woman (they never go anywhere with this, but it’s obvious they have feelings for one another. I’ll have to do a deep dive on this one of these days)
And finally, the subject of this week’s review. First, let’s discuss the participants, as most people aren’t comic geeks who love the minor heroes more than the marquee ones…
Tumblr media
The Huntress debuted on Earth-2 (where DC stashed their Golden Age heroes until they were needed) prior to Crisis as Helena Wayne, the daughter of Bruce and Selina Wayne. Following Crisis, she was reimagined as Helena Bertinelli, the last surviving family member of a slain Mob Boss, who became a ruthless vigilante in an attempt to avenge her dead family.
Huntress makes her debut in a brief appearance fighting a bunch of robot spiders (but that’s not important for this review)
Tumblr media
The Question was created by Steve Ditko as part of Charleton Comics’ “Action Line” (which was ended a year later). When Ditko joined DC Comics, the company (as a “gift”) bought the rights to the Action Line, dumping them on Earth-4 in the DC Multiverse and forgetting about them until Crisis (though they were re-imagined in Watchmen, with the Question being the inspiration for Rorschach)
In the comics, the Question was a very philosophical hero (starting out following the teachings of Ayn Rand in Charlton, and Zen Buddhism following Crisis). However, in JLU the Question is a cynical conspiracy theorist looking for everyone’s “angle”.
Tumblr media
Question made his debut working with Supergirl and Green Arrow trying to find out why Supergirl was having disturbing dreams (while I won’t cover that for this review, it is kinda important as you’ll soon discover)
And now that we’ve established the players, on to the story!
NOTE: I will mainly be focusing the scenes involving Huntress and the Question. Any elements beyond their involvement I will likely ignore (unless it’s important later) If you would like to view the episodes in their entirety, they’re available on Max or behind your favorite paywall.
PREVIOUSLY ON…
Following the events of A Better World, an organization known as Cadmus (a government shadow ops group with off-the-books funding from Luthor) emerges of the League’s radar, performing such acts as illegal cloning (including a clone of Supergirl, which was the source of her bad dreams (told you it would be important)) The Question begins poking into Cadmus’s business after helping Supergirl and Green Arrow, trying to find the bottom of that rabbit hole.
Meanwhile, Lex Luthor has announced his candidacy for President (and is apparently doing well despite his criminal past. A criminal billionaire with no prior political career running for President? Like that could ever happen!)
Now, on with the show!
Tumblr media
We open at the estate of Mafia Boss Steven Mandragora where a couple of his bodyguards are arguing about their secret scone recipe (sure, why not?) when they hear a noise in the bushes. Suddenly a figure from the bushes makes short work of them (but, this being for kids, doesn’t kill them despite using a crossbow) The figure then scales the building and enters the study.
Tumblr media
You were expecting someone else?
Huntress uses an aerosol to spot the alarm beams and evade them. She then enters Mandragora’s bedroom and shoots the figure under the blanket (OK, this got dark quick!) However…
Tumblr media
…as you may have guessed, Mandragora isn’t there. She then gets contacted by J’onn in the Watchtower and teleported.
Tumblr media
Guess who’s in trouble? J’onn expels Huntress from the Justice League. As she goes to her quarters to gather her things…
Tumblr media
Huntress enters the Question’s quarters, makes fun of his looks (what she thinks he looks like under his faceless mask) and his obsession before offering to help him with Cadmus in exchange for helping her track down Mandragora. (Something tells me she knows two things about Cadmus: Jack and Squat)
And where is Mandragora?
Tumblr media
In a safe house being guarded by the FBI, Green Arrow, and Black Canary. Turns out Mandragora has promised to turn State’s Evidence against his fellow Mob Bosses in exchange for Witness Protection.
Meanwhile, the Question has found out about Mandragora’s location, and offers to tag along with Huntress.
Later, Mandragora’s goons, dressed as cops, attack the FBI while Canary and Arrow are on lookout duty outside. Then…
youtube
(Thanks to Princess Darkseid)
A wee bit later, as Huntress and the Question head to the waterfront, the Question reveals he knows Huntress knows nothing about Cadmus. Further, he knows about her connection to Mandragora.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, if the Question knows why Huntress wants Mandragora, and that she has nothing to offer in exchange for his help, why is he helping?
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Canary (with Arrow riding behind) has caught up with them and demands that they stop. Question drives his car into a rail tunnel. Just one problem…
Tumblr media
Question manages to turn into the side tunnel before the train hits him, but Arrow has to call for J’onn to teleport him and Canary. J’onn does so…over the bay where they land safely in the water.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Question reveals that there’s a freighter from Mandragora’s country arriving shortly.
(Thanks to Unlimited)
So now the Huntress and the Question are An Item, but it’s not their last appearance together. This episode focused primarily on the Huntress’s obsession, while the next is all about the Question.
Tumblr media
We open on Metropolis, where a warlord from Apokolips named Mantis is tearing up the city.
Fortunately, Superman is on the scene with an assist by Captain Atom (another Charlton import: Captain Nathanial Adams (USAF) was condemned for a crime he didn’t commit. He exchanged his death sentence for being a guinea pig for an experiment that turned him into a living nuclear reactor (similar to Firestorm, but with energy conversion instead of matter manipulation)) After a brief battle, Superman manages to activate Mantis’s Boom Tube and Captain Atom blasts Mantis through.
Following the attack, Lois Lane shows up looking for alone time with Superman, so Captain Adam makes himself scarce. After leaving, Captain Atom is summoned by General Eiling (calling the good Captain by his actual name)…
Tumblr media
…and drafts him into Cadmus.
Meanwhile, the Question and the Huntress have a “date night” where they break into LexCorp to dig up information about Cadmus.
Tumblr media
Eventually, Question manages to download the files, but Huntress now wants an actual date in return. (Exactly how can they have a date night like regular people when Huntress hasn’t even seen Question’s face? It’s not like he can eat while wearing that mask!)
Later in Question’s apartment (wait, why does he have an apartment? He has free housing in the Watchtower!)
youtube
(Thanks to Blue Kryptonite)
The Question goes to the Watchtower to confront Superman about this. Question reveals he knows what the Justice Lords did…and that events are lining up to make those same events happen in our universe!
Tumblr media
Despite Superman’s assurances, the Question storms out of the Watchtower and to…
(Thanks again to Unlimited)
Huntress guesses that Cadmus must have Question.
Tumblr media
Superman agrees to help Huntress rescue Question.
Obviously, Cadmus was expecting this. Fortunately for Huntress, Cadmus’s weaponry doesn’t affect Superman so she can hide behind him. Then Superman spots something and flies off, leaving Huntress to deal with Cadmus’s goon squad.
Tumblr media
I think she's fine, if a bit annoyed.
They eventually find Question and free him…
Tumblr media
…though he’s still a bit loopy (even for him) As they prepare to leave…
Tumblr media
(You thought I casually mentioned Eiling drafting Captain Atom?)
The episode ends there and picks up on the next episode…
Tumblr media
Fortunately, Superman manages to keep Captain Atom busy and gives Huntress his comlink so she can contact the Watchtower once she’s clear. One problem…
Tumblr media
Huntress tell J’onn what he can do with his attitude and demands transport to save the Question (who, despite everything, is still a Member in Good Standing)
Later, in the infirmary, Question tells Huntress about the aerosol that seals/removes the mask from his face and changes his hair color, since he was having trouble breathing through it. After using the spray…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
D’AWWWWWWW!
Now they can have a proper date night once he recovers!
Hope you enjoyed! Please let me know if there are any other JLU characters you would like to see a deep dive on (not that many got enough screen time to be able to)

selina’s mother, maria kyle, had a dark secret. a secret she was forced to keep to her grave. murdered. made to look like a suicide.
her real name was roxanne calabrese. the estranged daughter of rex "the lion" calabrese, a former mob boss in gotham city’s criminal underworld well before the vigilante known as batman was born.
the lion ruled the city before he was pushed out by carmine "the roman" falcone's gang. betrayed by his daughter, who had an affair with the roman, fell in love with him, and agreed to help the ambitious crime lord take down the calabrese crime family. for money. for power. for love.
but roxanne calabrese was only a pawn. a pawn who realized that she was pregnant with carmine falcone’s child. ultimately, she made a deal with the gotham police department to be put into witness protection. fearing for selina’s safety... from the falcones and her own father. changed her name to maria cabrera, and then married brian kyle, a simple factory worker with no ties to crime or gangs.
the lion went into hiding, adopted the name "leo leone". he was sent to blackgate penitentiary, where no one knew his true identity as a criminal kingpin. he kept tabs on gotham’s criminal underworld. biding his time.
and his interests in selina kyle as a potential heir to the calabrese crime family grows more and more.
over time, he arranges a meeting. in blackgate. and gives her his blessing to take over gotham’s underworld as head of the calabrese family. to destroy carmine falcone.
selina refuses. at first.
but the truth, ultimately, becomes public. the lives of her loved ones are endangered. everyone wants a piece of the calabrese legacy. the falcone legacy. selina has no choice. with the blessing of her grandfather, selina becomes head of the calabrese crime syndicate, rebuilding its ranks and inevitably surviving an underground war with black mask. managing an uneasy peace she had brokered between the two factions, in the aftermath. along with leadership of the calabrese family came ownership of the egyptian nightclub, the legal front for her family's income. she retired as the catwoman, passing on the mantle to an ex-lover, eiko hasigawa, heiress to the hasigawa family branch of the yakuza in gotham city.
but old habits die hard.
can selina lead a double life with her family nipping at her heels and black mask making moves to wipe the calabrese family from gotham?

Sociopath Profile: 2022!Falcone
Tumblr media
Full name: Carmine Falcone From the 2022 film The Batman Played by John Turturro
Falcone in this film stands out as a thoroughly ruthless mob boss underneath his chummy exterior.
[SPOILERS BELOW]
Falcone runs the entirety of Gotham from the and uses his power to intimidate people into his power. All of this is to get power for himself while damning anyone who doesn't benefit him.
Despite his friendliness, he is notably out for himself. He is willing to sell out his colleagues to get a hold on the profits of his organized crime ring. That's why he had Maroni ratted out to the cops to give himself a monopoly on the drug trade. Even after Thomas Wayne saved his life from a gunshot to the chest, he still saw it fit to blackmail him after going to him for a favor. And regardless of whether he was involved in the Wayne murders, he looted the Renewal fund after his death to enrich his own capital.
On two fronts, he can be very manipulative. The first is his direct manipulations that include his bribes and intimidation. Considering the connections he has with every level of Gotham municipal employees such as cops and politicians, any attempt to expose him would be mutually assured destruction and career suicide for them. He has dirt on the majority of them and they know that going against him means getting things exposed for them.
The second way is the fact that he's incredibly deceptive. He acts friendly even when he's issuing a threat. His murder of Annika has his tone of voice be chummy just before brutally strangling her in cold blood. He's also a notable liar. Even when he tries to be friendly with Bruce after he confronts him about the reporter he killed, Alfred notes that he was taking advantage of Thomas' desperation to protect his wife, trying to make it look like he was only looking out for his mayoral career.
And Falcone's lack of empathy shows through the numerous lives he is willing to personally ruin and end for the sake of keeping himself afloat. He never cared for his illegitimate daughter Selina and shunned her at every moment. The highest point is the fact that she also had her mother Maria killed and then later attempted to murder Selina personally.
Even as he's arrested, he shows no fear or remorse about what he's done. Falcone is just smugly taunting Batman and the police while believing he still has them all in his pocket. But after seeing the police presence willing to take him down, he still taunts Penguin, someone he considered a close friend.

Bruce Wayne is a Simp for Bad Bitch
OmG I can’t believe I’m writing the obvious but the idea is in my head and I need a place to word vomit.
Okay, so it occurred to me that Bruce has a more serious and intense relationship canonically with three women, as far as I know; Andrea Beaumont, Talia Al’ghul, and Selina Kyle. All of whom are the epitome of Bad Bitch with the capital B. (Yes, I’m ignoring Rachel Dawes from Nolanverse. The only thing I like about it is the Iconic Joker. No batman movie is good enough without the Batfam.)
Why do I raise this point, you might ask? Well, that’s because I want to rant that Bruce, my boy, my man, my childhood comfort character is actually a SIMP?!?!
Like... I’m just... urgh.... okay... I am very vocal for a healthy relationship with commitment and based on mutual love and respect. So the fact that Bruce has only bad, iffy, or casual relationships really want to tear my hair out. And why my heart don’t want to ship with any of them, even though BatCat is one of my favorite pairing!
I am a WonderBat shipper because I love watching them in JLAU as a kid and even though I’m not slash shipper unless it’s canon, SuperBat made much more sense to me. Heck even a threesome with the Trinity would have been healthier relationship rather than whatever Bruce had with the three of them and here’s why:
You might not have heard of Andrea, but she’s canon from the Timmverse movie called Batman and the Mask of Phantasm which is A REALLY GREAT MOVIE. Totally recommend. One of the best Batman movie at all times (Yes, I say Batman movies not Batman Animated movies). Has great plot twist and good pacing. so Spoiler Alert! Andrea was Bruce’s fiancé, making her possibly Bruce’s first love, before his journey and possibly could have stop him from becoming Batman (I would say he’s a simp in this case, but he would have had a much more happier, healthy household so it’s not bad thing) if she hadn’t disappear for being a Mob Boss’ Daughter!!!
I repeat, a mob boss’ daughter.
And she came back only to be a mask avenging assassin that went toe-to-toe with Batman.
And she could have choose to stay with Bruce but she didn’t because she choose vengeance over him. Like.... Bats, you should stop with the “I am Vengeance” routine you’ve got going on because she does it better than you ngl.
So she left and I cried at the end of that movie because trauma wasn’t enough, you put heartbreak after heartbreak to my boy. Thanks DC.
Then there’s Fucking Talia Al’ghul which is a no brainer why she’s not Bad but BAD. Like, Talia groom Jason, supervise Damian’s harsh, brutal, and abusive training, control Damian through the implant spine to kill Dick, orders Damian execution before regretting it, DRUG BRUCE when CONCEIVING DAMIAN!!! And that’s only the top of my head.
And if you want to blame it on Morrison’s writing, THAT’S FINE. We’ve bitched about Tom King’s writing enough to know it’s valid.
But, BUT, bUt... it needs to be address that even before Morrison, Talia CHOOSE to stay in the League of Assassin. People can tell me that she’s a complex character that’s loyal to her father but love Bruce and that her upbringing makes her complicated or whatever. Nuh-uh. You don’t get to make Talia helpless when it suited you. Talia is a fucking Bad Bitch (TM). She’s been taught to do whatever the fuck she wants according to her belief and ideal. At some point, Talia knew she wanted to be in position of power in the League rather than staying with Bruce.
But it’s canon that Talia, if I remember correctly, doesn’t like Gotham or Bruce’s mission. She thinks being a hero is beneath them or whatever. And doesn’t understand why Gotham is special to Bruce. So yeah, you might not agree how Morrisons write her. But do not fucking tell me she’s not a character who will not be willing to do what she thinks it’s necessary to get what she wants, including training her son as an assassin. I mean, she likes being the Demon’s Daughter in the league. She may not agree with her father but Talia wants to give Damien what she wants. Power.
Talia loves Bruce. That’s a fact. He’s probably the only person that makes her feel like she’s a person instead of the Demon’s Daughter. Bruce has a knack for that. To make people want to be better, even just a little. Talia could have chosen him, if she wanted to. The fact that she helps him so much when fighting against her father numerous times is proof enough.
I'm highly suspecting the reason she stays is because she knows Bruce would always forgive her (SIMP ALERT) unlike her father who would straight up stab her if she ever betrays him.
I’m not saying there’s no love for her son, I’m just saying if she even looks at the batfam funny than I will raise my flamethrower on that bitch’s face. Because you can’t rely on Bruce on that. That man would give bullshit excuse for her or want to handle her himself because your “history” with her makes you entitled.
Aaaah, don’t you just love it when there’s a great villain you can hate on so much?
I'm not saying she can't be a good person. Pre-morisson made Talia more of an anti-hero. But I do like Talia "I'mma cut a bitch" al'ghul. It's just... I like ruthless Bad Bitch like her. Though preferably she could have balance it with more of her maternal side through Damian.
Okay, I’m getting off tangent. Now comes to my favorite girl. Catwoman. Selina Kyle. The famous ship of all Bruce’s relationship sans SuperBat.
I... am conflicted the most about this.
See, Selina is one of the few people who understands Bruce. Who was there when he needed a shoulder to rely on. Someone who doesn’t take Bruce’s shit, and one of the constant person in Bruce’s life.
But not... constant enough. Which is a theme of her, even in her fursona... I, I mean PERSONA, PERSONA!!!
Anyway, I love seeing these two broken people. One handles it with violence and vigilantism, the other through thieving with a Robinhood-esque thing going on. So of course they get each other. It always helps that they try to make each other better. Selina taught Bruce to be okay of being selfish of wanting to be happy, and Bruce believed there’s good in her that makes her feel she’s not a hopeless case, y’know? It’s even canon that in one universe, they’re married and have daughter, Helena Wayne. So... yeah? Happy end! (Until they died but that’s non issue here at the moment.)
Then Tom King (Urgh, him again) wrote Bat proposing to Cat, and by the time they’re about to be married. Selina left him at the altar.
So yeah.
But then they get metaphysically? Figuratively? married after the Flashpoint which they turn Thomas Wayne into a villain (At least make him from alternate universe instead of timeline!!!) and kill Alfred (WhYYYYYY?! Bruce suffered enough why do you go kill both his fathers dammit!!! Let the goddamn butler rest in peace). And basically Selina and Bruce promise each other forever. Which is sweet. BatCat Forever, am I right???
Yeah, here’s the problem. (And I’m just nitpicking here, okay). For all Tom King’s character assassination of Bruce, he did Selina right in one thing. Which is the fact she doesn’t like being tied down by anything.
If Talia puts importance in power. Selina puts importance in freedom and her self-independence.
I remember as a kid watching BTAS, that Selina didn’t want a relationship with batman if it meant changing who she is. So when Selina left the altar, I wasn’t surprise at the news. Then she actually agreed to marry him, only this time, she didn’t need a judge or a paper to make the marriage legit, y’know. And I thought, yeah that’s so her.
But the thing is Bruce. Accepts. Her. Every. Single. Time.
Without a single thought. She asked, “Do you still want to get married?” and he asked “When?”
Even though it’s not the first that Cat leaves him hanging.
Tell me he’s not a simp for that.
It’s great that he accepts her for everything she is. But I’m conflicted because Selina stays static. She stays with the cat theme in the fact she doesn’t want to held back by anything. She takes what she wants. She loves who she loves. And no one was gonna change her. But then where’s the character growth?
Is it regressive of me to think Selina should be ‘tied down’ or express commitment when she never has been tied down before even though she loves Bruce?
Is it not-feminist of me to think Selina has to change herself for a man?
I just don’t like the fact Bruce and Selina enables their masked persona. Their relationship is strongly base on their cat-and-mouse chase. They nicknamed each other “Bat” and “Cat” for God’s sake. Even though yes, it’s canon that “Batman” and “Catwoman” is their real selves and their civilian life is their masks. Heck, she didn’t go for the altar because she believed (though manipulated) that making Bruce happy would make Batman insufficient, or losing him entirely (Thank Tom King for that).
That would be true, and stay true if not for one thing. Which is some thing what Bruce has that Selina doesn’t:
The Batfam.
Bruce’s real identity isn’t just the Batman anymore. He has to be a single father with growing children he never plan to adopt but did anyway because they needed each other. He can’t use his batman persona to be a father at his house, but he will when training them to be his partner. His family became the strength to Bruce’s fight for Justice.
Bruce is the Batman, but he’s not everything who he is. Selina is supposed to be part of the batfamily yet sadly, I haven’t read or watch anything that has her interact with them in a positive way or actually bond with them. Heck, when Alfred inform the proposal to the batfam they were shocked and thought it was a bad idea even (And they’ve known her for almost half their life by the way.)
The fact that Tom King implied Bruce was never happy or wasn’t happy enough without marrying Cat when his Batfam should be the source of his pride and joy?! Apparently family means nothing to Batman. Woah DC, what a great message you’re sending here.
I guess that’s why, I was a bit iffy when Selina “marriage” with Bruce isn’t official. Because she commits to the man but she doesn’t say she’ll commit to the family (though I suppose it could be imply or I just forget stuff). The batkids are grown up enough that they don’t really need a maternal figure, but that doesn’t mean they don’t need more emotionally available people in the family. And that I haven’t seen much of her taking effort to bond with the people that’s the most important to Bruce.
It just makes her want to commit to Batman instead of Bruce Wayne, in my eyes I guess.
So yeah, that’s why Wonderbat and Superbat makes more sense to me. Because they’ll make an effort to be THERE for the family and they’ll be just generally be a healthier relationships because, again, emotionally available so they might talk when they have a problem instead of running off the altar when you think a Happy Batman is Bad Batman. But no, DC have to make Bruce is a simp and his life edgy.
Anyway, I might be wrong in some things because, you know. Canon becomes a blur to me after a while.

girl in the batman, falcone, a mob boss played by turturro has a very sus/inappropriate dynamic with his own daughter selina who's planning on robbing him blind. im like 80% sure that he doesnt know she's his daughter becuase he's shocked when she calls him dad. not to mention, bruce being a creepy voyeur and mistaking falcone's random escort for selina - its a fakeout for him and the audience - but she dresses up like her and that has me looking at falcone like a freak!
"that has me looking at falcone like a freak!" HAH
i've received at least two other anons about this, i love that our minds went there lol it's true and you should say it
i don't think he's shocked when she calls him dad, at least that's not my read. i think he didn't expect her to point a gun at him precisely because of the nature of their connection. it's clear, imo, that he knows who she is and has always known (since she was a child). he may think she doesn't know it yet, or is pretending not to. in any case, he is knowingly inappropriate with her as a way to keep her under his thumb, imo. and yes, that funeral fakeout does point to him being extra inappropriate, lol

STALLI TALKS BATMAN THE LONG HALLOWEEN
The long Halloween
At times people question whether or not Batman truly has a place in our world as a hero of fiction. Is he too dark, too violent and will he ever truly rid the streets of gotham from the wave of crime plaguing.
From my perspective the answer will always remain a solid and emphatic NO! But that's not because I think Batman is some useless hero of another time, it's because I think Batman is a hero made specifically for Gotham and the broader DC universe, not our world where we have men in blue uniforms that do enough unjust brutalization. However, have you ever wondered how Gotham city managed to sink into the current state of a prototype hell that we know it as today. Well enter the long halloween a story written by Jeph Leob and illustrated by tim sale recently adapted into an animated feature. This amazing 2021 two part masterpiece of animation is about to be typed about by the hoodrat highness himself ME!
The long halloween on the surface is a simple mystery that also happens to chronicle the descent of gotham from being a city run by the italian mob to being one that is terrorized by villains of all shapes, sizes, genders and mental capacities. Some may roll their eyes at the thought of Batman punching another mental ill person into the wall, however this story is actually quite refreshing and different from most stories about the dark knight. Why? Batman is actually a detective.
I know its super fucking crazy but it’s the truth. Instead of being a human man with limited knowledge of technology outsmarting beings from alien civilizations 1,000s of years smarter than human beings. We see Batman solve a mystery, “who is the enigmatic holiday killer?”It’s really through this lens that Batman gets to shine as the hero that he is. Because quite frankly who in the gotham pd could take on something as absurd as a man who kills on holidays only.
The city of Gotham is basically a parable for hell. It will never get better no matter how much money Bruce pumps into it and the crime will never ever stop happening no matter how many criminals Batman throws into Arkham asylum. This is inherently tragic, but the truth of the matter is Gotham was once held in the tight grip of mobsters long before women who could control plants showed up.
Through the story of the movie we get to see that theme of descent be explored. What happens when you save someone or something and through the process they descend into being something much worse than you predicted. We see Bruce descend into a much better crime fighter and detective after solving the mystery of the holiday killer but we also see him slide more into being Batman and not Bruce Wayne the person. Losing his sense of self in his journey to better his city. Gotham city is saved from the clutches of the italian mob family headed by the boss “carmine falcone,” but it later falls into the hands of villains such as Poison Ivy, the riddler, joker and in the future bane. We see once good guy and hardworking lawyer Harvey Dent stop the crime families of Gotham but not before losing himself and becoming the sinister villain two face.Descent is dangerous and we must be careful of who we descend into when trying to achieve something. Good people find themselves in sticky situations all the time and the characters of the long halloween chronicle this excellently.
However, amongst all the characters, the stand out for me seems to be catwoman “selina kyle”. Catwoman over the years has been a beacon of storytelling . Once a woman who wore a cat mask, then a flight attendant who lost her memory, and finally a prostitute who becomes a cat vigilante after seeing batman in action. Selina Kyle kas made her way through many transformations over the years and some I've liked others “FRANK MILLER” I would love to forget for the rest of my existence.
Here we see an earlier version of her. One that puts on the mask of sexy, alluring and attractive but beneath doesn't really know who she is. Across the screen she is portrayed as someone who knows who she is now in the moment but may not have a good idea of who she is in the future or maybe even know who she was in the past. Across gorgeous action scenes and gripping dialogue heavy sequences selina is portrayed at her fullest potential on the screen, a woman on a mission to fully understand herself and how she fits into the slow but sure descent Gotham is going into. In the end of the film it is implied (depending on who you ask) that Selina is Carmine's illegitimate daughter. A revelation that instead of shaking her, seems to be like a puzzle piece that falls into place making her whole. ANd so ironically catwoman is one of the few characters in the movie that ascends instead of descends into anything.
I guess what i’m trying to express about this gorgeous two art animated feature is that Batman stories are always filled with one central theme. Identity and who we are as people. The long halloween ends with a new type of gotham that some may fear but for bruce its still the same city that needs saving and for selina its still a city she needs to survive in.
I can't recommend this film enough, if you have the time. GO watch it and enjoy it very much.

First Chapter
________________________________________________________________
If Tam is uneasy conversing with a legally dead man, she hides it well. She doesn’t ask him how he’s involved in Gotham’s nightlife, and he doesn’t volunteer. Instead, for a few hours, she distracts him with stories of Tim’s more paranoid and dramatic antics, including but not limited to her having the chase him halfway across Europe while he was searching for Batman.
“Of course, I didn’t know that’s what he was doing,” she tells him, sitting cross-legged on the sofa across from the bed. “I thought he was just trying to find himself or whatever rich playboys do when their dad dies. And then I walk into my hotel room one night, and there he is on my bed, dressed in bright red Kevlar and bleeding out next to a woman with a slit throat.”
“Hell of a way to discover your boss is a vigilante,” Jason snorts.
“Well, I already knew there was something weird about him considering all the trouble I went through trying to track him down, but honestly the worst I thought was him owing someone money.”
“You thought the millionaire wunderkind owed people money?”
“It could happen,” Tam defends herself. “I almost wish it had been that. We have lawyers for that kind of thing. But no, it’s all ‘League of Assassins’ and ‘cults of death’.” She rolls her eyes. “I’m surprised he hasn’t lost more than his spleen.”
That Jason didn’t know.
Of course, it’s not like he peruses the mainframe for an up-to-date list of injuries everyone has. At least, not since he stopped trying to take any of them out. But losing an organ was a hell of a sacrifice to make for the sake of tracking down Bruce.
Hope the old man was grateful at least.
Tam goes on to talk about a ploy by the League to kill all the Bats and their allies (which Jason probably only missed out on due to being in space at the time), which somehow devolves into a rant about Tim’s increasingly extra cold war with Vicki Vale that involved their fake engagement and him spending a year in crutches to prove a point (Jason thinks he remembers Kory pointing that out to him in one of her gossip magazines once), and at last a full-on tirade about lying to her about her father’s death.
“You’re at least gettin' hazard pay, right?” he asks. “It’s not like he can’t afford it.”
“Oh, you have no idea,” she replies with a hard smile that wouldn’t be out of place on one of Gotham’s rogues.
Their conversation finally comes to an end around two o’clock in the morning when Tim returns, hair slicked with sweat and bruises on his face.
“What happened?” Tam asks, getting to her feet. “I thought you said you were only going out to keep an eye on things.”
“I ran into Robin while I was out, and we exchanged certain words. And certain fists.”
“Why?” Jason wants to know, immediately tense at any kind of Bat attention, even if it’s not on him.
“The demon brat wants me back to San Francisco as soon as possible because Gotham’s “his city”,” Tim replies, making air quotes.
“Jesus, the apple really didn’t fall far with that one, did it?”
“I actually think it’s his way of checking up on me. If he intended to hurt me, there’d have been sharp objects involved, or he’d have cut my line while I was in midair again.”
“He did what?”
Damn, Jason’s tried to kill Tim before, but he at least had the stones to do it to his face. That sneaky shit is straight-up League tactics.
“Misunderstanding,” Tim dismisses. “But this is good. If he thinks I’m just staying here to stick it to him, he’s not about to go asking questions or dig deeper. He’ll just take it as a challenge to go out on patrol more and try to one-up me that way.”
“And if he complains to anyone at the manor, they’ll shrug it off as his usual gripin' about you,” Jason catches on.
“Exactly.”
It’s kind of genius, actually.
“And that’s my cue to leave. One of us needs to not fall asleep in the boardroom,” Tam announces, eyes wide and somewhat bemused at their conversation.
She might be in the know, but clearly doesn’t quite understand the dynamic between Tim and the youngest Bat. Jason’s not sure he fully understands it himself. He’d wager it’s something like the way he and Dick were when they were younger, only with more actual attempts at murder.
(And Damian might be a lethal little monster, but Jason knows if Tim one day decides to abandon Bruce’s golden rule and really start trying, the little demon will be taken out before he even knows what hit him.)
“That was once,” Tim is grousing. “And we’d just stopped a secret order of owls from taking over Gotham. I earned that nap.”
Tam gives a groaning sigh—clearly, it’s an old argument—and turns to Jason.
“Don’t look at me, I’m actually on his side for this one,” he shrugs.
Tim blinks. “Really?”
“Don’t make it weird, Drake.”
That night was a pain in the ass. Freeze and an undead owl acrobat at the same time? Not fun.
Tam’s brow furrows.
“I have questions,” she says slowly, “but they can wait. I really do need to sleep.” She digs into her pocket and presses something into Jason’s hand—a business card with her name on it. “If you need anything and Tim’s not around—or if Tim is around but glued to a computer screen or something—give me a call.”
Jason stares at the card, not entirely sure what to say to that.
“See you, Tam. Want me to walk you to your car?”
“I know the way out. Besides, I ordered an Uber, I’m fine. Go shower and get some sleep, mister.”
She leaves.
“Did she just...decide that we’re friends?” Jason asks Tim after she’s left.
The younger man huffs. “I think she’s just happy to find someone who she can complain to about me and my nighttime shenanigans who actually gets it.”
“Yeah, except I get the other side of it.”
“She doesn’t know that.”
Jason shakes his head, shoving the card in his jacket pocket.
Criminally insane villains I get; people are weird.
“So other than bondin' with the kid, what’d you get into tonight?” Jason asks, not really interested but wanting to gloss over the puzzling interaction.
“Murder at a construction site near Newtown,” Tim replies, clearly picking up on Jason’s unease. “Someone called in a tip and the police found a boy encased in concrete.”
“Mob hit?”
“Most likely. And a weighty one. Giancarlo Gazzo’s kid.”
Jason raises his eyebrows. “Shit.”
“Exactly. Could be just the usual competition for contracts, but it’s more likely a prelude to an all-out mob war. It’ll definitely justify me sticking around here for a while.”
“Unless B decides to take over.”
“He won’t. Selina’s in town, so he’s going through one of his trusting periods where he respects us all doing our own thing. I give it another month or so before he starts up with the micromanaging.”
“You have two much faith in him. I give it two weeks.”
Tim looks like he has something he wants to say to that, but chooses not to. Instead, he jerks his head toward the hallway. “I’m going to shower. Do you need anything? I don’t think I said so before, but you can help yourself to anything in the kitchen.”
“Nah. Go take a shower, Bruce 2.0. You stink like grotty socks.”
“I’m sure you smell like a rose at the end of a patrol.”
“And don’t you forget it,” he quips back as Tim leaves.
As soon as he’s gone, Jason’s irreverent façade vanishes and he falls back on the bed, staring up at the ceiling blankly.
What am I doing?
This morning seems so far away, almost like it happened weeks ago. Waking up ignorant of the possibility of having a kid and intending to do nothing more in his near future than get completely shit-faced. Tomorrow (today?) things were supposed to go back to normal, to Jason’s usual routine of patrolling his neighborhood and avoiding people like Tim.
And now he’s staying in Tim’s apartment.
Because in a few days he’s going to bring home his daughter.
His stomach twists again at that thought, still having trouble with the word.
Did Roy ever feel like this?
Sure, he was shocked at the big reveal, but then he threw himself into being a dad. He wanted it. Hell, Bruce had wanted to be a father. He wanted Jason once, had even adopted him after all the crap Jason put him through in the beginning. Having a kid was never a burden to him, even if he’d gotten a lot wrong, and he took to the idea much faster than Jason’s doing now.
Maybe it’s because he had practice with Dick. Or the fact we were all older and not babies. Made it less terrifying.
Though Jason’s not sure he would be any less messed up if it were ten years from now and Isabel was introducing him to a preteen daughter.
Different sort of terrifying, I guess. Even Bruce would be better at adapting to that than me.
And Jason would really like to know why his thoughts keep circling back to Bruce.
“Because he’s your dad, moron,” Roy’s voice echoes in his head. “Now grow a pair and start thinking like an adult.”
Jason privately maintains he’s been having to think like an adult all his life, why can’t he have a day off for once?
An awareness hits him of being watched and he sits up, noticing that Tim has returned and is standing framed in his door. His shower-damp hair hangs past his chin and he’s dressed in a T-shirt and flannel pants, but he still manages to look as stiff and business-like as if he’s about to walk into a meeting. Of course, he always kind of looks like that to Jason, mostly because he can’t recall ever seeing him dressed casually before today.
Or yesterday.
Whatever.
“Can I come in?” Tim asks.
Jason shrugs. “It’s your place.”
“And it’s your room as long as you’re here.”
“Just get your ass in here,” he groans. He’s not sure what’s more annoying: when Tim’s managing him or trying to be considerate.
The younger man settles on the sofa where Tam was before, brow furrowed like he’s trying to decide what he wants to say. At last, he settles on, “I know you don’t want to, but the sooner we get out in front of this the better. We can’t just keep reacting.”
Jason glares. “It isn’t a PR problem, asswipe, it’s a kid.”
“Really? I hadn’t noticed while I was feeding and holding her and you were running away to have a freak-out,” Tim snaps. Before Jason can snarl back at him, he groans and rakes his hand through too-long bangs. Taking a deep breath, he makes a calming gesture. “Sorry. Anyone would be freaking out. The point I’m trying to make is that we need to know what we’re doing so we can plan properly. We can’t just sit here pretending like it’s going to go away.”
“You keep sayin' ‘we’, but the last time I checked, this is all on me.”
“No, it isn’t.” Tim’s borderline frustrated expression softens. “It takes two people, Jason. And it’s just as much on Isabel as on you. It’s sad she died—of course it is—but she also didn’t tell you something that was of vital importance. Especially considering who you are.”
“It’s because of who I am she didn’t tell me,” Jason replies quietly, trying not to show how much the other man’s words caught him off-guard. “And that’s on me.”
“And you say I sound like Bruce,” Tim mutters, rubbing the heels of his hands into his eyes. “Whatever. Stick a pin in that argument, it’ll keep.” He lowers his hands, staring at Jason with bleary eyes that are trying for serious. “Before we make any kind of arrangements, I need to know: are you absolutely sure you don’t want to keep her?”
“I can’t,” Jason croaks, a sharp pang hitting him in the gut. “I’d ruin her.”
Tim’s mouth thins. “I don’t think you give yourself enough credit, but okay.”
“Excuse me if I don’t buy that from the guy whose throat I literally cut.”
“And if you wanted me dead, I would be,” Tim dismisses. “You weren’t exactly you at the time.”
“I was me enough.”
“Would you stop trying to pick a fight with me?” Tim snaps then. “I’m trying to help you. I don’t need reminders of what a colossal asshole you’ve been to me in the past, I was there. This is about a kid. Your kid. And if you’re not going to keep her, then we need to know the best options for her.”
Jason feels a tiny prick of shame at that, but he tells himself it’s only because Roy offered him the same advice earlier.
“You and Safiya both said she was dating,” Tim goes on.
“And apparently it ended badly.”
“We don’t know for sure it ended because Isabel was pregnant,” Tim reasons. “It might have been for some other reason. Maybe we can appeal to the guy’s better nature.”
“You believe in the Tooth-Fairy too?”
“It’s an option.”
“It’s barely an option.”
“Still an avenue we can explore,” Tim insists. “Maybe after we’ve talked to her friends. She’s got to have someone other than Safiya who might take Luisa.” Jason startles a bit at the name, having temporarily forgotten about it. “Assuming you don’t want to keep her in Gotham?”
Jason isn’t entirely sure what he wants. On the one hand, Gotham is a cesspool, his home only because his blood is literally all over this city. There’s nowhere else he can imagine living. But if he’d had a choice? If as a child, his parents packed him in a car and drove him to anywhere the hell else? Things would have been very different.
And on the other hand, every kid deserves to know their parents, in some way. If they can find someone who knew Isabel better than Jason did, she won’t grow up completely separated from the woman who gave birth to her.
Tim appears to take his silence for disagreement because he goes on, “Then there’s adoption, of course. We keep it private, find and vet a family using our parameters—no need to even go through the system if that’s what you want—and it can be open or closed or whatever you want it to be.”
Jason nods mechanically.
“And you realize that to do any of this, you’re going to have to exist? Officially?” Tim points out. “No one asked for your information tonight because I caught them off-guard when I showed up. But that was a one-time thing.”
“Aw, come on, you tryin’ to tell me money doesn’t buy privacy? We both know that ain’t true.”
“Not about this. Not in the eyes of the government. You’re going to need to exist on paper, at least—and it won’t be the basic false identities you’ve been using the past few years,” Tim goes on. “Which is going to cause a whole slew of other problems, because once you’re a legal entity, it’s going to take a hell of a lot to make it go away when this is all over.”
“I’ll just fake my death.”
“Which might just make the wrong people start paying attention—not only to you but the rest of the family. It would be easier if you just stayed alive.”
Jason’s not entirely convinced. “Easier for who?”
“For everyone. The family. You. Even Luisa. What if 20 years from now she develops a hidden genetic condition, or gets into an accident, and you’re the only biological relative she has who can help? Or are you just going to completely wash your hands of her once you hand her off?”
The phrasing grates. “This isn’t me handin' her off. I’m tryin' to make sure she’s got a life, which is somethin' I can’t give her!”
“I’m not criticizing you,” Tim shoots back. “I’m just trying to make a point. Every option has pros and cons. You need to decide which ones you can live with. And which ones will still affect you even when she’s not here anymore.”
Jason folds his arms and scowls, trying to come up with an argument even though he knows the younger man has a point. It would be stupid not to prepare for every eventuality, especially given the way everyone in the Family has had something from their past spring up and bite them in the ass.
But bringing me back to life? It’s not something I ever considered when I got back to Gotham.
Jason Todd-Wayne was dead and would stay dead by his own choice. It was safer for everyone that way, surprise baby included. But then…this could also be a chance for him to start over, even if he didn’t keep her.
And having a name of his own—one that wasn’t tied to the record of a stupid Alley kid that jacked tires, or to Bruce Wayne’s dead son—might be kind of liberating.
And if it offers even a modicum of protection for Isabel’s kid…for his kid…
Jason took a deep breath, ruminating on it a further few seconds, and then nodded. “Fine. Let’s do it.”
Tim blinks as if he had been expecting much more argument than that.
“I’ll get started on that for you tomorrow then,” he says, almost hesitant.
"Great. Now get out of here," Jason snaps. "I've got a few hours of not-sleepin' ahead of me, and I can do that without someone to hold my hand, thanks."
The other man sighs and gets up. "Good night, Jason.

DC Ladies and Why They're so Awesome
Barbara Gordan: So of course Im going to start of with a good part. Babs is probably one of the smartest people in the entire DC universe. She graduated high school early (at like sixteen) and went to college. She got her masters degree so she could be a librarian. In her 20's she became a congresswoman but apparently was too liberal to get re-elected. On top of this all she was batgirl. When the Killing Joke happened the DC universe thought they lost Babs. Not only did Babs stick around she became stronger. Babs used everything she had and built up the Birds of Prey using her quick thinking and computer knowledge to keep her team safe. Not only that but as Oracle Babs was the information keeper for the Justice League. She had every single superheroes number easily accessible and knows them all personally. Also Babs became a Green Lantern! Like thats awesome. Babs has been at war with the Calculator for forever and has won every time. You can not tell me Babs isnt one of the best DC characters hands down.
Diana Prince: Okay I bet you're all surprised I didn't start off with Diana. I love Wonder Woman so much and there's so many reasons why. First off Wonder Woman defied her Amazonian sisters and went out to the real world. She didn't know what was out there and didn't really care. She wanted to promote peace and be a diplomat and that's what she was at least for a while. When Diana killed Maxwell Lord she regretted it so much that she decided not to be Wonder Woman anymore. Even though everyone told her that her reasoning was just (cause like yeah it was). Wonder Woman has this huge sense of responsibility and like how can you not love her for it. Also the fact she's more powerful than most of the Justice League and the Justice League knows and admires it. Yeah that's definitely a plus.
Mary Batson: Okay I love Mary and honestly I don't know much about her but I'm going to take a stab. Mary carries this sense of responsibility, she wants to be a hero and she's damn good at it too. When she lost her powers around Countdown she was devastated. When she got them back and become "Black Mary" that absolutely sucked. But she came back became Mary Marvel again and built herself back up. Mary is a key part of the Marvel family and I don't know what Billy would do without her. She's also still a kid. Like an actual kid. A teenager and she's out helping save the world. Yeah I have respect for that.
Kara Zor-El: Of course Supergirls on this list. Why would she not be? Okay supergirl has an interesting story. She's the sole survivor of not one but to planets. When she arrived on earth she knew nothing about the planet at all. She had to trust her cousin knew what he was doing to help her. She wanted to build a whole life away from being a superhero too. She just wanted to be a normal kid. She has her ups and downs but ultimately Kara is probably one of the best characters because she's realistic. She's written to be an angsty teenage girl who is still trying to figure herself out. Sure she's chronologically 30 years older than Superman (depends on what story you read) but that doesn't make her any less of a kid. Also she fought Darkseid and Lex Luthor while still figuring out her powers, she single handedly took down the entire Justice League and she's more powerful than Superman. I think that's pretty cool.
Dinah Lance: The Black Canary's name has belonged to like three different Dinah's at this point. But that doesn't make her any less awesome. Dinah is trained in all forms of martial arts and is thought to be the second best martial artist in the world. Yeah the entire world. Dinah is hot heated and can be moody at times but she knows what she's doing. Even after losing her Sonic Scream she continued to kick ass with the Birds of Prey. She did get her Sonic Scream back later while in the birds but she never seemed to rely on her powers, she always just used her gut instincts and quick thinking. At one point Dinah adopts a child who was being trained to be an assassin. She kept this child and even stopped being with the birds to settle down with Oliver Queen and have a family. Dinah is undoubtedly one of the best ladies in the whole DC universe.
Helena Bertinelli: Okay not only is Helena a superhero known as the Huntress shes also a school teacher. Helena originally was the daughter of Batman and Catwoman but at some point during Crisis she became a vigilante who was the daughter of a mob boss. After her whole family is murdered in front of her she vows to end the underground crime ring in Gotham. Shes pretty good at it and almost succeeds. Sure her methods arent well liked by Batman but she gets her job done. She joins the Birds at one point and actually gets a family. Babs gets her a job as a school teacher and Helena is happy again. Towards the end of the original Birds run Helena manages to take over the underworld and Gotham and manages to (almost) take it down.
Stephanie Brown: Okay Steph is the daughter of some low class supervillain called the Cluemaster. She becomes Spoiler as a way to make up for all the things that her dad did. She literally built herself up from nothing and became an amazing superhero. Steph might have never had a major standing in the comics but she was there in the background spoiling everyones plans. Also Steph got pregnant as a teenager. Like thats really hard to deal with. And she did it mostly while continuing to be a vigilante. Steph maintained a good friendship with Cass and when Cass ditched the title of Batgirl Steph took it up. While Batman never approved of her actions Steph did everything she could to be an accepted member or the batfamily. Plus she was briefly Robin which is really cool.
Cassandra Cain: Okay daughter of assassins is already cool but the fact she can speak solely with body language is amazing. Cass never learned how to speak and was trained to be the worlds best assassin. When she did learn how to speak she spoke few words. Despite that she maintained a great friendship with Babs and Steph. Babs trained her to be the new Batgirl and Steph ended up being her best friend. Cass is even better at fighting than Batman and she took down the Joker her first time fighting him. Not only did she break the Joker out of Arkham she beat him and sent him back just as easily. Cass had a great character arc and I just love her character. She really brought the name Batgirl to mean something entirely new and when she dropped it and gave the name to Steph she did it with honor. Cass did at one point leave to go run the league of assassins but she eventually came back to Gotham.
Talia Al Ghul: I dont know much about Talia but I think I know enough to write a paragraph about her. Talia is the heir to the demon. She trained as a child to be an assassin alongside her father Ra's Al Ghul. She also fell in love with Batman. But thats probably the least cool thing about her. I mean she is an assassin who will potentially inherit a whole army of assassins and be immortal. Like I dont know about you but I think thats pretty friggin awesome.
Selina Kyle: Okay Catwoman is amazing. She trained to fight under Catman which is pretty cool. Also like she controls part of the Gotham underworld. Selina is an amazing woman who is a great thief and she also has morals. She doesnt do killing (most of the time) and shes even been a hero for a while. Catwoman became a hero alongside Batman but at some point she decided to return back to crime. She's worked alongside the Birds of Prey a few times and at one point was even a member. Selina also decided not to marry Bruce because she knew marrying Batman might give him a reason not to be Batman anymore and she knew people needed Batman more than she needs Bruce. Also Selina helps girls on the street. Like thats a major thing. Helping kids who dont have much. Like thats great. Lastly she feeds and takes in stray cats and thats just wonderful.
Harley Quinn: Okay while I wouldnt consider Harls a hero persay (shut up new 52 and rebirth) she is still an amazing character. Harley is a genius, she blew through med school and became a psychologist. She built herself up from working at Arkham from the bottom all the way to working with the highest class psychos. Harls was also an amazing gymnast and she had tons of medals. After falling in love with the Joker she did some regrettable things but the fact she managed to get herself and she started to redeem herself shows a lot about. Harley now just wants to help people she wants to fix what she did wrong. Harley has a big heart and wants to do right and while she knows her methods arent that great shes trying hard. She just wants to please the people she loves and cares about.
Pamela Isley: Okay Ivy is a tricky character. She doesnt really have a set backstory or anything that I really know of. Ivy was a scientist and something happened that changed her physically. She became connected to the green. Now Ivy isnt really sure who she is. She became the Batman villain known as Poison Ivy and became an ecological terrorist (at least thats what I think they call her). Ivy really just doesnt know her place in the world. Ivy is wicked smart and she has patented a lot of biotech stuff and she made Harley the antidote that made her immune to toxins. She does end up re-entering the field of science a few times and is genuinely trying to turn a new leaf and become a better person. At first she didnt really understand that what she did was wrong she just wanted to help out the plants because she saw all these terrible things happening to them. For the most part Ivy is a misunderstood person who is trying to find her humanity.
Kara Zor-El (Earth Two): Okay Power Girl is a tricky character to figure out because she has so many different backstories due to the destruction and then reformation of the multiverse. Anyways Karen Starr is from another Earth specifically Earth 2. When she arrived on Earth 1 she learned there was already a Supergirl. She took on the name Power Girl and founded a company that focused on software (I think.) Shes older than Earth 1s supergirl and is kind of like a big sister figure at times even though her and Kara are the same person. The two also didnt start off on the right foot with eachother. Karen for a while led the Justice Society of America which is really flipping cool. Karen knows whats right in her heart which is what makes her like Superman in a way. Because like her cousin (even if the two arent really cousins on earth 1) she wants to help people.
Donna Troy: The original Wonder Girl will always hold a special place in my heart but I kid of want to focus on her time as Wonder Woman and also as simply just Donna Troy. When Wonder Woman quit being Wonder Woman Donna took her spot and she made a pretty great Wonder Woman. She doubted herself a lot and didnt think shed ever be as good as Diana she pushed herself up to the top and did it. As Donna Troy she was an amazing Teen Titan and she even cheated death. Her spot in the multiverse has been looked over a few times but her Roy and Jason last I heard were all kicking ass together.
Rachel Roth: Ravens a weird character Im not going to lie. Shes kind of mysterious. Rachel was a key addition to the Teen Titans, her powers are unmatchable in battle a lot of the time. Also shes the child of the demon Trigon. Rachel herself never really knew what to do with herself but while growing up she knew she had to do something and that she has to save people. She spent her teenage years with the Titans and continues to be with the Titans even if shes technically supposed to have aged out by now.
Kate Kane: Kate is one of my favorite characters of all time. Batwoman adds so much to the story and it covers a lot of things Ive never even thought of. Kate was kicked out of Westpoint under Dont Ask Dont Tell. The story talks a lot about her experience with PTSD, being gay and also being in the army. Kate runs a major business and is Batmans cousin. Kate literally gives zero craps about what Batman says and she does what she wants even if he doesnt approve. Kate has a big heart and ultimately she just wants to save her sister. After being kicked out of Westpoint Kate became a party girl and an alcoholic becoming Batwoman changed all of that for her. She became the woman she was meant to be.
Maggie Sawyer: Maggie Sawyer is a badass cop. Shes also Kates girlfriend and shes a mom. Being a cop in Metropolis is one thing but since moving from Metropolis Maggie has joined the GCPD. Being a cop in Gotham versus being a cop in Metropolis are to completely different things. Maggie can do it all and she works well under pressure. Shes an amazing cop and deserves so much more credit that what she gets in the comics.
Renee Montoya: Renee Montoya started out as another Gotham City Cop well until she became The Question. Also one of Kates ex girlfriends Renee has taken up Vic Sage's mantel and become the Question. She's a cop turned vigilante who is trying to do everything she can to keep Gotham safe.
Zatanna Zatara: So Zatanna is a magician. An actually magician with real magic and also a performing magician for kids. She does a lot of volunteering and loves showing her magic to the kids. Shes part of Justice League Dark and her powers are probably some of the most powerful in the whole DC universe. Zatanna can literally do anything just by saying it backwards. She doesnt get as much credit as she deserves but Zatanna is a kid with a big heart and deserves a lot more than she gets. Also did I mention she once climbed Mount Everest?
Courtney Whitmore: Not many people know much about Stargirl but this teenage girl is a key part of the Justice Society. Stargirl is a nobody without her Cosmic Staff but with it she is one of the greatest members of the JSA. Courtney has befriended Supergirl and has run around on all sorts of adventures before she could even vote. Her friendship with Supergirl is strong even if it isnt seen too often in the comics. Stargirl is just another kid who wants to change the world and who does manage to do it.
Lois Lane: Supermans girlfriend has ring to it enough but pulitzer prize winner Lois Lane is so much more than that. Shes an investigative reporter who strives to find the truth no matter the cost. Time and time again she goes undercover and risks her life for her job. She has no powers and no fighting skills just faith and a keen eye for a story. So sure while she's Supermans girlfriend she so much more than that. She's a woman who's going places and will always be independent. (Bonus: the first time Clark meets Lois she's yelling at some guy at the phone for being sexist)
Lana Lang: Supermans other girlfriend. Lana kind of got abandoned for a while but trust me she's still great. Lana takes in Kara while Kara is still struggling to figure her life out. Lana is the most supportive and loving person there is. She really cares about Kara and treats her like a daughter and as a best friend. Her friend ship with Lois Lane is amazing and Lana had an amazing story arc when she became possessed. Moral of the story never mess with any of Supermans girlfriends because they will fight back and theyll fight back hard.
Lady Shiva: If it wasnt for Lady Shiva Black Canary would be the best martial artist in the world. Lady Shiva is a long time Batman villain and not even Batman himself can beat her. Shes said multiple times that the only time he did she let him. She just wanted to know how worthy of an opponent he was. Shiva and Dinah trained under the same sensei together and have a mutual respect for eachother. For a short period of time Shiva even took Dinah under her wing to teach her new techniques no one else in the world even knew.
Mia Dearden: Speedy is hands down the best Green Arrow sidekick. And no Im not talking about Roy I really do mean Mia. Mia was living on the streets for the longest time and as a teenager. Constantly in the comics she talks about what it was like as a teenager being homeless on the streets, doing drugs and even selling her body just to stay alive. She became a great fighter while training with Ollie and Dinah and becomes the second Speedy. Mia is quick thinking and knows how and when to act. Later in the comics before she joins the Teen Titans she gets diagnosed as HIV +. That was the first time the DC universe made a character be HIV + and it hit hard for a lot people. Her backstory is really sad but its meaningful and really tells a lot about things that nobody knows anything about. Mia is a spunky kid with a lot of personality and she wants to help people.
Emiko Queen: Emi wasnt really around until she become the Red Arrow in Rebirth. She had her ups and downs but she stay devoted to Ollie throughout all of it. Emi is a tough character who really wants to be just like her big brother. She does at one point join a cult but then she breaks away from the cult to save her brother. Emi really admires Dinah and their friendship is great. Her story is still just starting to develop and its really cool to see where its going.
Zinda Blake: Lady Blackhawk has been no where in sight since New 52 hit. Im not really sure if theyll bring her back but I hope they do. Zinda is a hotheaded pilot who thinks more with her fists than she does with her brain. Shes a key member to the Birds of Prey and a true hero. After somehow re entering the continuity despite having to have originally been in WW2 Zinda has begun to fit right in with her weird accent and odd slang. I really hope she gets put back in soon.
Charlie Gage-Radcliffe: Misfits not really a well known character but shes a good one. Shes a spunky kid with an obsession with Batgirl. She takes on the mantel of Batgirl briefly before the real Batgirl, Barbara Gordan, stops her. Babs takes her in as one of her Birds and trains her. Charlie is just a kid and Babs knows it. Charlie doesnt get to see much action throughout the series but her character really grows a lot and she molds into this amazing character. Misfit is pretty impulsive and her mind (and body) tend to bounce all over the place. Charlie is just like any other teenager and she does everything she can to look on the bright side of every situation
Cassandra Sandsmark: Cassies Wonder Girl is what got me into Teen Titans. Cassie knows what she wants and knows how to get it. She can be short tempered but she had a really good heart. Her friendship with Supergirl is one of the best friendships in the whole DC universe. Cassie ultimately just wants to impress Wonder Woman. When she's not roaming around with the Teen Titans or on Paradise Island she's like literally every other teenage girl. Sitting at home argueing with her mom. Her power for her lasso comes fron her anger which she seems to carry a lot of. Shes still figuring out how to be Wonder Girl but shes become a valuable asset to the team. Cassie is a really relatable character and I love her for that. Her and Diana are a great pair and seeing them together is amazing. (Bonus: In New 52 Teen Titans she can put up a fight against basically anybody including Tim Drake and she hates the name Wonder girl)
There are more characters but this took me about two hours to write so Im going to cut it here. If anyone wants me to add any more characters let me know in the notes and I'll edit this. Also special shout outs to characters who I didnt have enough info on to put on here but are still equally as awesome: Martha Kent, Director Cameron Chase and Linda Park.

Gotham - ‘They Did What?’ Review
Tumblr media
Gordon: "For Gotham!"
When FOX kicks the support beams out from under you and says that the narrative you had planned to normally span across a twenty-two episode season now has to be condensed down to ten episodes, I guess it makes sense that your last few episodes are going to feel more like a paint-by-numbers project as you struggle to quickly wrap up character arcs so that those characters in question can resemble their comic counterparts.
Any remaining characteristic that Gotham hasn't shown the genesis for is abruptly wrapped up here in 'They Did What?' - Oswald loses an eye and gets his monocle, Bruce summons a colony of bats, Gordon's daughter is named 'Barbara,' and Gordon gets his promotion to Commissioner. And there's really no weight behind any of these developments, they just sort of happen because... they need to happen. Last year, in Thomas Ijon Tichy's review of 'The Sinking Ship, The Grand Applause,' he mentioned how there wasn't much of a thread that connected the plot points or character moments of that episode, "Things Just Happen." And that's mostly how I feel about this sudden conclusion to 'They Did What?', things just happen and there's no rhythm or flow to a lot of them.
Nyssa abducts Barbara instead of just killing her like she said she was going to do, and wants to raise Barbara's child as her own. Barbara manages to stab her in the gut but she still walks it off. Nyssa locks Gordon and Barbara in a room so she can make her escape. Gordon is able to kick the door down anyway. Bane's invasion overpowers and takes over the GCPD but instead of killing Gordon and Bruce like he said he was going to do, he takes a detour just so he can ambush Bruce and Selina in an alleyway. Bruce saves Selina by summoning a colony of bats because of course he just happens to acquire at the last-minute sonar equipment. The terrified refugees of Gotham City attempting to flee underground return to the surface anyway so they can stare down Bane and a firing squad. Nyssa escapes in Oswald's submarine alone even though it was stated two people are needed to pilot that thing.
For once, I don't know if the cobbled-together writing here can be blamed solely on the showrunners though because simply we just don't know if their intended 'vision' for Season 5 was meant to last an entire year before FOX cut their air time down to size.
Tumblr media
If there is a highlight though for this episode (and there are several, mind you), it begins with where we began this year. The sequence of Gordon, Bullock, Oswald and Nygma suiting up and taking the stand against Bane's army in a dire effort to protect the GCPD I confess had me energized and eyes glued to the screen, and even if it's incredibly jarring that for some reason this sequence occurs in daylight while the standoff shown in 'Year Zero' was happening at nightfall, it's an absolutely energizing scene. Never mind the fact that Bane's army, which supposedly outnumbered the GCPD six-hundred to thirty-one, has the firing accuracy of an Imperial Stormtrooper, this scene had wit, it had rapport, it even had a little bit of heart (turns out Oswald loses his eye while defending Nygma), and it's oddly enough a nice depiction too of an incredibly dysfunctional group willing to set aside past grudges to defend in any way they can the city that is a part of them, that has had a hand in each of their upbringings.
I was a little skeptical at first of why Oswald would be wiling to come back and put his life on the line for Gotham City after going through so much trouble to leave it behind and start life anew elsewhere. But of course, Robin Lord Taylor's performance in the office-sequence across from Gordon completely convinced me, and as much as I love his chemistry with Cory Michael Smith, Taylor and Ben McKenzie are also a phenomenal pair when they get scenes like this one. In many ways, their portrayals of Penguin and Gordon have shown they can at times be inverted versions of the same individual, and by now have established this nice ebb-and-flow of knowing when to work together, and when they can be at each other's throats.
It's unfortunate that so late in the game Gotham is somewhat hinting at a redemption arc for Barbara because she's so endearing and likable when she's anything but a psychotic mob boss. I liked her character just fine enough for the first half of Season 1, and even though as a character, she's been through the grinder time and time again, but Erin Richards, like Taylor and Smith, just has that charm to her that makes her enjoyable to watch when she's spirited and vibrant as opposed to being so full of anger, venom and angst.
Shippers of Oswald and Nygma will probably seethe at the resolution to their arc until they're blue in the face, but I personally enjoyed it nonetheless. At the end of it all, Nygma's decided that he felt nothing, no hint of triumph, joy or euphoria, even when Gotham City is rejoicing for their salvation. The very city he put his life on the line to defend. Because it sickens him just knowing he had to associate himself with the civilian population that he considers intellectually inferior to him. Nygma relapsing into his megalomaniac egotistical persona is such a 'Riddler' thing of him to do, and it inspires Oswald to agree with his notion that they shouldn't have to ever think about changing who they are to please everyone else - they're criminal masterminds and if that's what fate has planned for them, then so be it. And as amusing as an on-screen visual it was, I don't think Nygma and Oswald secretly pulling blades on each other with the intention of double-crossing the other adds anything to this ending, simply because the scene succeeds in getting across anyway the notion that they're brothers-in-arms, and will be for the time being - blades or no blades.
Tumblr media
Something I've been dreading for a while has finally reared its ugly head in this episode, and because we now know the series finale is actually a time-jump, there's no room at all left for Gotham to resolve it: the very reason Batman even exists in the first place. In the five years we have journeyed with Bruce Wayne on his quest to rise one day as Gotham's caped crusader, Gotham has forgotten to address two core aspects to what makes Batman... well, Batman. And those are why does Bruce Wayne/Batman need to work outside the law and why is Bruce's motif bats?
Rather than deliver on the indication that Bruce was going to be infiltrating and dissolving gang factions throughout the city this year, Bruce instead spends much of this season assisting the GCPD, and by the end of this season, not only is Gordon's lineup of cops shown to be capable of holding off Bane's army of grunts, but it is a mob of ordinary civilians that is able to coerce Bane's army into standing down and turning on Bane himself. In the end, we can't help but wonder then 'why would this city even need a lawless vigilante?' What has shown Bruce that the municipal government of the city is incapable of enforcing proper law and order?
And then there's the bat motif. "But Aaron, Bruce had a vision of bats and Batman back in Season 4!" I understand that, but that isn't enough. That silhouette with the signature bat ears poking up in Bruce's vision still needs a point of origin. In response to that argument, Batman cannot create himself. Otherwise, what is stopping Bruce from fashioning his cowl and armor to resemble just about anything he wants? The design and appearance of Batman is tied in many renditions of the character to Bruce's fear of bats themselves. Several times in the past it has been hinted by David Mazouz among others that Bruce's fear of bats would be a plot point explored in this series, but ultimately, that never came to pass. Yes, Lucius gives Bruce some tech that utilizes sonar which just happens to have a side effect of attracting certain animals, but at this point in the series, when we're so close to the finish line, this feels more than anything else like an afterthought as opposed to a development that will leave an impact on Bruce and something he feels is necessary to incorporate into his campaign of vigilantism.
I almost feel like my energy could be best utilized in other departments then commenting on what a trainwreck Gotham's interpretation of Nyssa Al Ghul is. Almost. For goodness' sake, the series itself seems to even have no concept of this character's identity because literally any quote delivered by a character concerning Nyssa contains what we already know - that she wants Bruce and Barbara dead, and she wants to destroy Gotham. Over and over again, that's spoon-fed to the viewer, like they're fussy children and Gotham is the mother trying to get them to eat their peas. For all her bluster that she is an 'Al Ghul' and that stronger people than Gordon and Barbara have tried and failed to kill her, in the end, she scampers off with her tail between her legs (unknowingly dog-napping Edward the bulldog in the process. That absolutely hurt me.), marking her as the final of many quite forgettable antagonists Gotham has had to offer. Do I even need to comment on the low blow that is this character threatening a defenseless infant with a dagger?
So in the end, Gotham City earns its salvation, Gordon gets his promotion, and Bruce pulls the "Dear John" letter trope from Season 3's finale and uses it to tell Selina that he's leaving Gotham City for...reasons. The real kicker here was knowing though that Camren Bicondova has evidently been recast as an older Selina Kyle for Gotham's series finale, which genuinely saddens me now knowing that a scene containing her realizing Bruce has also essentially walked out on her life is the last moment we have with this actress.
Aaron Studer loves spending his time reading, writing and defending the existence of cryptids because they can’t do it themselves.

Batfam Crossover I desperately need, Part 2
Followup to my earlier post, this time about Wolverine's crew with the Batfam.
Let's recap.
Batfam: The Batler, Alfred Thaddeus Crane Pennyworth Batman, Bruce Wayne Batwoman, Kate Kane Catwoman, Selina Kyle(-Wayne) Nightwing, Dick Grayson Batgirl/Oracle, Barbara Gordon (Grayson) Red Hood, Jason Todd Black Bat, Cassandra Cain Batgirl, Stephanie can't remember her last name right now Red Robin, Tim Drake Catgirl, Kitrina Falcone, the daughter of a mob boss who ran away, was adopted by Selina, and decided to fight crime Mar'i Grayson Robin/Red Bird, Damian Wayne These characters are all so popular I don't really feel the need to explain them.
Wolverine's family Wolverine, James Howlett/Logan/Jimmy/Jimmy Logan/dozens of other aliases but usually just Logan Sabretooth, Victor Creed, his brother who is sometimes a villain but God help you if you lay a finger on his baby brother Wildchild/Wildheart, Kyle Gibney, Victor's son who Logan ended up raising because Victor got a badly timed case of amnesia Dark Wolverine, Daken Akihiro, Logan's son who was kidnapped and raised by a mortal enemy to believe Logan killed his mother and abandoned him - but later learned the truth from Professor X and reached an uneasy peace with his father Rogue, Anna Marie Darkholme, the mutant girl that drains from anyone she touches, who Logan summarily adopted when she ran away from Mystique and Destiny Shadowcat, Katharine "Kitty" Pryde, who phases through things and is another girl Logan randomly adopted even though her parents are loving and alive X-23, Laura Kinney, Logan's female clone who he adopted as a daughter when she escaped from Weapon X almost exactly the way he did (she managed to avoid the massive explosions) Logan's also been implied to be related to about ten other people, but they're literally all some of the worst villains of Marvel (and want to kill him) or dead, so they're irrelevant here.
I want these two families to meet.  Because Logan and Bruce are both those guys who say "I work alone" only to join pretty much every team in their franchise and have the biggest families of said franchise. They don't even have to know each other's identities, though the feral family (that's what I'm calling Logan's) is honestly terrible at keeping theirs a secret.  They're unreliable about masks.  I guess they don't need to be too careful when they all share a healing factor. (or they would if Daken would get off his fucking drugs that are making his work so hard it's practically useless when he's injured) Just Bruce and Logan being the overworked dads.  Victor and Selina being the amoral cats that screw with them every chance they get but never seem to cause any real damage. (Screw movie Victor okay) Logan and Victor and even Daken bonding with Alfred talking about the old days, because as young as they look, Daken's probably only about fifteen or twenty years younger than Alfred.  And Logan and Victor are a century or more older than he is - they'd make Alfred feel young for once.  Wildheart being awkward and sweet because he's still recovering from losing his mind to Shaman, and Stephanie, Dick, and Babs automatically taking him in.  They see him as a cinnamon roll who must be protected and then they see him fight and kill more fiercely than Jason or Damian ever have and they realize how damaged this whole feral family really is.    Rogue hitting it off with Cass and Jason because they're all quiet ones who would really rather just read than try to socialize.  Kitty and Steph instant BFFs!  The batfam is annoyed by Steph accidentally picking up Kitty's valley girl dialect.  Nightcrawler, Rogue's brother through Mystique, and Kitty's boyfriend, showing up and being instant acrobat buddies with Dick. "OMG YOU WERE IN HALEY'S?" "OMG YOU WERE WITH THE GERMAN TROUPE?!" Nightcrawler and the ferals thriving in a city where their bizarre feral looks barely get them a second glance.  Laura and Damian actually getting along, Laura forcing Superman to get his head out of his ass about Conner because "If my fucking international mass murderer of a father could adopt me why can't the American farm boy step the fuck up?" Damian just likes her because she has zero respect for adults.  Laura and Kitrina getting along because they're both determined and angry, and maybe Kitrina teaches Laura how to be a little less bitter.     The batfam find themselves in the position of being the less damaged for once.  These people were twisted and torn apart and thrown back together and they find pleasure in the kill, even the good guys of the feral family don't deny they find a thrill in playing with a baddie before tearing them apart with their hands, claws, even fangs.  (to be fair, Kitty, Rogue, and Nightcrawler aren't among these individuals.  Rogue's got a guilt complex and Nightcrawler is messed up because he's Catholic and found out he's half demon, half freak of nature, but they aren't as bad as Logan's actual blood relatives.  Kitty's the only truly stable one in the family.) And just, the feral family and their adopted members end up staying in Gotham for a while.  And maybe Victor's accidental friendship with Alfred leads him to start patching up his schizophrenia and be able to hold back Sabretooth and just be Logan's brother again.  Maybe seeing Bruce with his kids helps Logan to chill with his own.  Maybe Laura learns how to let go of the past, thanks to Kitrina.  Maybe watching Damian, who grew up in an almost identical world as himself, accept his estranged father and even honor him, helps Daken to come to terms with Logan.  Maybe the batfam actually helps them heal.
Gaaah I don't know it's 3 am and I have a lot of feelings about these families and I need them to meet.

five times kissed
Tumblr media
It had been a moment that she had never expected, especially considering that Jason was one of the biggest crime bosses in the whole of Gotham. Yet here she was, in the back of his car, legs draped over his waist, his hands on her back, hers cupping his face. She was surprised by how gentle he was, the way his mouth moved slowly against hers, the way he held onto her, pulling her closer. Her hands feeling his greying facial hair under his, groaning softly against his mouth as she wrapped her arms around him.
Tumblr media
She should be a sobbing mess, a panicked, screaming mess that was completely shocked. But instead she felt… free, exhilarated and turned on. Harley looked up at Jason, a smile spread on her face, eyes darting from the dead man on the floor back to him.
“ He got a little too handsy… I mean… I know ya wanted him dead anyway, ” Harley laughed softly, dropping the gun in her hand to the floor and moved towards him. She wrapped her arms around him, kissing him with a newfound hunger, hands moving to his hair as she groaned against his mouth, nipping at his bottom lip as she pulled back.
“ I need ya to fuck me right here… right now. ”
Tumblr media
“ You may kiss the bride, ” Harley barley heard the priest as Jason pulled her into his arms, dipping her slightly, her arms wrapping around his neck, smiling up at him. She moaned softly as he finally pressed his mouth to hers, she kissed him back, a soft, romantic kiss that she knew was just the first of many in their new married life. She couldn’t believe it, Harleen Quinzel was now Harleen Todd, wife of mob king Jason Todd and she was looking forward to the rest of their lives together.
Tumblr media
Harley was pretty sure she was going to die here, that she was never going to be able to see Jason again. She had always known something like this was going to happen, yet over the years she had gotten cocky, she just never expected it to happen at this point. They had been married for nearly a year, it had been a threat that they had always expected, yet they didn’t think anyone was brave stupid enough to actually take her from their home and held captive. The endless hours of torture, pain and almost praying for Jason to find her was getting to a point where she wondered why she kept fighting. Jason hadn’t found her and she didn’t know whether he would.
“ C’mon, hotness… tell us everythin’ we wanna know… and the boss may let you have some food today, ” the man in front of her was the one she hated the most, aside from the boss, he was the one who was too handsy, liked to have a feel of her body and often would force himself upon her.
“ FUCK YOU! I ain’t tellin’ ya nothin’! I will never give Jas- ” she was cut off by the sounds of gunshots. Harley knew by now not to get her hopes up that it was Jason, the boss had a happy trigger finger and often liked to shot his people, laughing as he did it. The man in front of her groaned, ripping off some duct tape and placing it over her mouth.
“ You stay quiet… I’ll be right back, ” he growled, pulling his gun out of the holster and leaving the room. This was different than just the boss with a happy trigger finger, there was more gunshots, shouting and every now again, small explosions. Harleen closed her eyes, praying that it was Jason and his men, not some other mob gang trying to take over from the freak who smiles just a little too much. The door opened and her eyes opened, relief flooding her body as she looked up at Jason, tears instantly slipping down her cheeks as she looked over at him. He moved towards her, pulling the tape off her mouth and kissing her. Harley whimpered softly, kissing him back softly, still crying as she leaned her forehead against his.
“ I never gave up on you, Jason. ”
Tumblr media
“ Hey… daddy’s home, ” Harleen smiled, looking up at Jason from where she was stood with their child in their arms. She kissed the top of her daughter’s head and moved towards him, leaning up and kissing him softly, passing his daughter to him.
“ How’s your day been? Catherine and I had an exciting day, we went swimming and had lunch with Auntie Selina… you okay, Jason? ”

Gotham s3ep12 “Ghosts”  Personal Review
Tumblr media
“Okay. Weird” ..  “But not illegal.” Warning spoilers below
“Please don´t leave just yet” BRUCE WAYNE says to Mrs. Kyle. Before that the ornament OWL gets examined, the one they stole and people died for. And yes I do very much like to know why this thing is so important as well and thank you Gotham that might have been the most interesting seconds of this plot: Bruce puts the owl aside and sun shines on it, revealing a map or something. I´m curious! Better be useful, Luka died for that.  Anyway it´s all about SELINA KYLE´s mother who was an orphan and left at the same step as she did leave Selina and now tries to make up for over a decade of neglect. Selina is not having it she is angry. Her mother brings a box to the Wayne Manor that they should give her daughter and omg Bruce is so precious in this, he tell her to stay and try reaching out once more! Well done Bruce! He brings mother and box to Selina and they hug. They all have dinner and get along well. Daughter and mother bond over robbing Alfred and it´s glorious. It feels like a happy family and I really like that but why do I got a bad feeling about this.. Bad feeling gets some fodder when Selina accompanies her mother going into her hotel room. Some guy wants money. At first I thought Mrs. Kyle might work together with that guy but she does seem truly worried? Selina is quick to offer Bruce´s money. Like when did that happen, at first she did not even take the offer of a shower and warm place to stay now she is spending his money. Okay it´s not for her but someone else but still. Mother says this is her past and that the Wayne boys should be warned because they are not to be messed with ..  Dear, ALFRED PENNYWORTH is really into Mrs. Kyle, and .. really?! .. I thought he would look down on her just as much as he does on Selina and despise her, but then again both are horrible with the parent role so maybe that connects?
“Let the vultures have at me.” Okay now I do call bullshit how does OSWALD COBBLEPOT  not know that he has been doing good for the city. He seemed to have been involved as much that he knew he was doing good for the mob interests he gotta know that stuff at least some tendency. Like yes, he did not know how to do the bar thing with Butch but now I´m starting to get annoyed. Once he finally gets the memo that things are alright he is all smiling and “How´s my hair” and that´s more the penguin I want to see. Also for fox sake can´t they have him be happy for more than a second. They just throw shit at him that keeps piling, this is not fun anymore. Being mayor could have been so great and good for him why always skip that stuff. Anyway TARQUIN, deputy chief of staff elegantly offers his assistance and also arranges some national TV interview. Meanwhile “someone” digs up Elijah van Dahl´s corpse and gets spooky. Oswald´s sanity certificate shatters, how symbolic. Oswald sees his dead father wandering around and even warning him about a birthday boy that should not be trusted. Tarquin gets some birthday cake and Oswald finds a corpse in a bag,  one thing leads to another. Tarquin gets murdered.  “You are a sick man! What are you plotting? What's the angle? Who are you in on this with?” Yes Oswald that´s what you should be asking but honey, dead people can´t give you answers. I feel sorry for the both of them, this is a mess. Oswald thus is late for his TV interview, which of course can only take place in this mere moment, but makes it “Sorry I´m late, mayor stuff”. TV lady told him she is no fan of him and wow she really isn´t, she suggests Oswald murdered his family to inherit the money. NO! You don´t do that lady. I mean from her point of view yes you do very much do that and question the whole thing but god damn it. Anyway I´m pretty annoyed as well that Oswald did not seem to be able to answer her question about how he has archived doing good for the city but I can let that slip because I so deeply relate to that “Well ..” I really don’t like this plot, what annoys me most is probably the question of: Don´t other people see Clayjah van Spook ? Like have him spook around in Oswald´s place at night okay, but have him show up at the TV interview?! Why isn´t Oswald all like .. stop, hold that man that looks like my dead father. Or just stop that man. Like it does not make him look much more insane than running of and even saying “to hell with the people” This is annoying me so much. On a bright side: I like TARQUIN the way he presented himself was just lovely. And I adore his elegant reaction of *gets hit .. well, better place this cake carefully, so it won´t go to waste falling on the floor. Why did he have to go so early. I´m a bit pissed at Ed for setting him up like this. EDWARD NYGMA is still in full rage mode and wants Oswald to suffer plenty before putting him out of his misery. BARBARA is still all excited about getting a new empire to play with and meanwhile CLAYFACE is worried about his performance, the voice issue again ..
“That´s the law, this is family” HARVEY BULLOCK explains to Jim Gordon who is watching Mario Falcone´s funeral and is absolutely right. Jim feels guilty, wants to do something but for once thinks about his actions and leaves. Damn it LESLIE THOMPKINS really fits into that mob family. I´m more and more thinking about her being at least as much into the family as into Mario. And damn it Mario, he deserved better. Least I´m glad that seemingly he indeed was a decent person. [Why the heck did Victor not like Mario??!] LESLIE shows up at the GCPD “You´re the real virus, Jim”  and I think what a drama queen but then again she is right. Nathaniel and Mario had the same infection, one is dead and one isn´t. Jim could have shouted at her instead of shooting Mario. She might have died then, or not. Given the way they showed Jim last week I do blame him up to a certain extent as well but that whole thing is annoying too. LEE & FALCONE have a mob moment discussing the death of Jim Gordon. “Blood for Blood”  Falcone say and wants Jim dead. Falcone also says that Jim was more like his son than Mario in some way and, really?! Like they had some thing, but they barely met. What kind of judgment is that?! Anyway Lee spits hate and wants him dead too but Falcone says Jim is his, and that it anyway is a decision Lee has to live with without doing it herself, he is used to it. “Everything bad that's happened in my life has happened because of him.” “If Gordon dies, it's a weight we'll both have to carry. I'm used to such burdens.” LEE later visits BARNES to get to know more about the infection, thinking she might have had a life with a cured Mario but Barnes gets into full, no okay about 60% executioner mode (I´m surprised that he stopped the screaming that annoyed Jervis so much,  maybe the blood just did not prepare his vocal cords for this) and Lee changes her mind. She tells Falcone to spare Jim. Falcone tells her she still loves him.   Why is listening Falcone to her?! It´s still about his son and he is still dead.
* Leslie wants Jim dead for killing her love interest. Edwards wants Oswald suffering and then dead for killing his love interest.  Don Falcone tells Leslie she talks of hate and revenge because she does not want to acknowledge  that she still loves Jim Gordon. Is this meant to be a parallel?
“It's inevitability, Jim. Embrace it.” We have gone from S1 Everyone loves Jim to everybody wants to kill Jim. What a development. NATHANIEL BARNES declares he still wants to judge, jury and execute Jim and he is pretty confident that he will get out of Arkham and do as he declared. And omg that was great acting! Then VICTOR ZSASZ visits Jim Gordon and raids his kitchen. He warns him about Falcone wanting him dead but drops a hint that he does not. “Nice shot on Mario, I never liked him.”  [Why?!] Omg, omg .. Zsasz could have an own agenda?! Do we finally get to know things about his loyalties about how he works and all that stuff we have been wondering about for so long?! I´m totally excited. Also I´m totally worried. This could get so messy. Also I can´t quite wrap my head around why he would hint something like this but still carry out orders like usual business. Like does he care about his own opinion?! Anyway I guess I got to wait for more answers. [But please Jim & Zsasz .. gotham you´d make me happy] Later Falcone orders Jim to get killed and Zsasz goes after him with two new fellow hitmen, who promptly get probably killed. Zsasz does not even bat an eyelash anymore when Jim uses one as cover and puts several bullets into them, seems this has become usual business. Why do people still work with him? [Or did he pick some he did not like anyway and was plotting to have Jim get away all along, for Mr. I do good work that was pretty much not good work there in the kitchen] Jim beats him, biig surprise, and points a gun at him, it clicks and it´s not loaded .. would Jim have shot him if?  Jim leaves. Round two happens in his place but Falcone calls the whole thing of. Victor Zsasz leaves without any of the usual words of  “oh please boss, let me kill, and murder, pretty please” ... this is suspicious, okay maybe I just want to see it as suspicious.
“These days I no longer say impossible. Unlikely.” LUCIUS FOX says when examining a dead/again girl. She was stabbed, she was fried with electricity, took a walk and died again. The morgue is more like a motel HARVEY says and he and JIM make their way to it. DWIGHT does not know how  the corpse could escape but he worked at Indian Hill so he might have a clue and the Detective Dream Team follows him to a weird but not illegal gathering. Dwight got a Jerome patch on his back (someone tell me again patches are stupid and insignificant.) The crowd is dressed in Jerome memorial straight jackets and in for a good laugh. Guy on the stage shows some cut together Jerome material. Everyone is blind, bla and just believing the establishment´s lies, bla sanity is just a prison, bla .. wake up and be super duper enlightened and chant the same stuff as your fellow cult members. The GCPD Boys put a stop to the laughter but can´t catch Dwight. Instead VICTOR ZSASZ shows up and Jim is oh, shit! while Harvey is all oh shit?! and legitimately pissed about the question mark. As he tells Jim later, Jim should have told him. While Jim thinks it´s just his business because Zsasz is a professional, has great work ethics and only after him Harvey points out that he pretty often stands beside him and dear please tell me Harvey was aware of that great double meaning. Harvey always got Jim´s back. Jim should honor that with giving him a bit more of that quite vital information. Falcone appears and calls Victor back. Jim approaches him and all I can think is whatever comes out of your mouth better be an apology and he does say “I´m sorry”. Phew. Basic decency. I´m relieved. Falcone says that if it were his choice he would be dead .. giving Jim something to think about. Lee. God please no.
“You´re a good egg” I am so glad that Gotham is keeping this man that could kill you shows up in your kitchen eating your food thing, like I´m really glad this keeps happening, I love that .. also I might really have to move, this .. and all the fancy bathtubs..
* Diseases & Viruses 1. Alice Tetch´s Blood = Virus in the literal sense  “This virus isn't the disease. It's the antidote.” Nathaniel Barnes says to Lee about being infected with the blood. Lee believes in a cure but Barnes does not want to have that. There is an interesting parallel to the second kind of Virus they have established.
2. Jerome´s Cult = Virus in the metaphorical sense “There is nothing more contagious than laughter.” Jerome announced in Season 2 and established the grounds for what we see now. People spreading and adding to his message. They see it, such as Barnes sees his infection as the antidote: “What you call sanity, it's just a prison in your minds that stops you from seeing you're just tiny little cogs in a giant, absurd machine, Wake up!” Moreover with them trying to bring back Jerome from the dead there is an additional little parallel established when Barnes talks about the Virus restoring his body “I've never felt better in my life. Clearer, stronger. More focused. Even now, I can feel it coursing through my veins. Restoring my body.” With Barnes it’s the blood infection and Jerome will be resurrected by the contagious laughter he spread.
3. Jim Gordon  = Virus as moralist (mis)interpretation ?  “You're the real virus, Jim. You seep into people's lives until you destroy them.” Lee says.
I´m tempted to apply the bible exegesis thing here but I´m struggling with the fourth type of interpretation and who cares anyway. And there has been disease talk in Gotham before all this but I´m too lazy to look stuff up .. for now..

Fox’s Gotham Season 4, Episode 7: “A Day in the Narrows” Directed by John Behring Written by Peter Blake
* For a recap & review of the previous episode, “Hog Day Afternoon” – click here * For a recap & review of the next episode, “Stop Hitting Yourself” – click here In light of the latest revelations, at least Cpt. Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue) is alive. But one of those revelations for Dt. Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) was discovering his buddy has been taking cash from Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor). They don’t have much time to discuss. Because there’s a huge delivery at the GCPD. Lots of big boxes, full of bloody pigs heads; 44, to be exact, “one for every cop in the precinct.” Seems Professor Pyg (Michael Cerveris) is after the entire GCPD itself. At a swanky cocktail party, Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) can’t help the heaviness of his heart. Doesn’t have to leave the mansion, though, so that’s one good thing. But Alfred (Sean Pertwee) notices a dark change in the young master, he’s becoming less like himself all the time. He’s tormented because he feels no guilt, just rage. Penguin has shown up at the GCPD, bringing his latest security hire Headhunter (Kyle Vincent Terry) to try offering a hand to the cops. Naturally, Jim has no time for that shit, still resisting. Unfortunately Cpt. Bullock is “legitimising” the crime boss in the eyes of his best detective. Like every other time, this forces Gordon to try going it alone. He wants to bring justice to Gotham. Seems that Barbara Kean (Erin Richards) is shutting down her arms dealing operation after Ra’s al Ghul (Alexander Siddig) has perished. Doesn’t sit well with Tabitha Galavan (Jessica Lucas) or Selina Kyle (Camren Bicondova). The ruthless Ms. Kean is a go-it-alone-type, always somehow landing on her feet. However, the Cat is adept at doing the same, and she’s ambitious, as well. Albeit a bit impatient. Later, Selina heads out on the town to start thieving for herself. Cops have to go into the Narrows, where there are more missing police. It’s a lower class neighbourhood, their own code of honour, so on. This doesn’t bode well, particularly with Penguin’s crew out there helping to knock on/knock down doors. Neither does Jim work well having to stand side by side with criminals as he pursues justice. Here in the Narrows, we see lots of prejudice from the cops to the residents there, except for Dt. Gordon. This helps our man get in to talk with a woman in the building, but he’s interrupted by Headhunter, pitting the two of them against each other. A Mexican stand-off in the street between Penguin’s people and the cops. Until finally they get a lead. This takes them to a building where they locate one dead cop, one barely living. At the orphanage, Oswald gloats over the news coverage while Sofia Falcone (Crystal Reed) looks after the children, and the former adjusts to having all the kids around. All the while the mob daughter’s spinning her own ideas into his ear. In the ambulance, Gordon talks to the cop who made it out alive. The guy didn’t see his face under the pig mask. Mostly, they talk about Gotham, and Jim makes clear they can both “make right” what they’ve wronged, to turn things around for themselves, and for the city. Sooner than later, their conversation produces the location of where Pyg is likely headed: an old abandoned courthouse in the Narrows.
At the shindig, Bruce runs into a girl from before he was home-schooled, Grace Blomdhal (Samia Finnerty). She’s bored out of her mind, wants to go have some fun with the young billionaire. She takes him over to a party, old faces Bruce knew. They’re a bunch of assholes. It only takes a few stupid comments, the young billionaire daydreams himself pummelling the shit out of one of them. Rather than actually do that, he goes with them out to a club. When the douchebag can’t get them into the club, Bruce gets them in easily; he “bought the place.” Penguin rushes down to the Narrows, thwarting Jim’s go-it-alone approach, bringing his own SWAT team and the media. Yet it’s Dt. Gordon who gets a call on his cell from Professor Pyg. He explains his own connection to Pygmalion, “creating a new, better Gotham,” and a new Jim Gordon, too. Then he says if Jim goes into the courthouse, he’ll die. Our detective then realises the cop in the ambulance was more than surely Pyg himself. A trap is waiting in the courthouse. Instead of listening to Jim, the cops decide on going with Penguin wanting to charge inside. When they do, Harvey fires on a man in a pig mask. Then they see it’s their own cop, gagged, disguised. A couple machine guns automatically set off, firing everywhere throughout the building, puncturing the walls, killing a few officers. Harvey, Harper (Kelcy Griffin), they all hide. Outside, none of Penguin’s men will go in. So who does? Jim fucking Gordon, baby. He downs the guns, saving Headhunter, as well as his fellow colleagues. Bam. Like THAT! Afterwards, Oswald passes the blame off on Bullock, whereas the press see Gordon as the rightful hero. Instead of puff himself up, the detective only warns Professor Pyg that they will not give up on catching him. In the meantime, Harvey’s sulking about shooting another cop when he should’ve listened to the instincts of his good friend. From the ambulance on the road, Pyg gives Jim another call to taunt. Doesn’t bother our guy, because he’s already seeing the change in his fellow officers – the Pax Penguina licensing system has run its course. What about young billionaire Bruce? He’s out partying, popping bottles, trying out the other side of himself he only found out recently existed. Mostly, we see the change in him because of the darkness lurking, there’s a rage behind him all the time just below the surface, feelings he’s locked away, things with which he needs to deal. Fantastic episode. This Professor Pyg-storyline is lots of dark, disturbing, exciting fun. Pumped to watch the rest of it play out. “Stop Hitting Yourself” is next on-deck.
