Ethan's absolute hatred and disgust towards AI that can mimic and duplicate human mannerism because the Entity tricked and almost lured him to his demise by using Benji's voice, someone he'd trust and trail after blindly to the end of the world
VS
Ethan having to stop every now and then as he goes on with his days because he's so used to being reminded by Luther about things he'd often forget, little things that'd slipped from his mind as his head injuries and age finally catch up with him, slowly realizing that perhaps one day, although he did promise that he'll continue living while dragging Benji along with him no matter what, now isn't so sure if he wants to actually live long enough to forget the sound of his old friends voice

the shittiest human art will always be leagues better than the best ai "art". a child's finger paintings and macaroni crafts will always be better than a computer's subpar attempt at recreating the starry night. your stick figures and smiley faces will always surpass an algorithm's bastardized boticelli painting. the most mediocre hallmark movie will always be better than whatever bullshit sora churns out. the most cringeworthy "i'm 14 and this is deep" notes app poetry will always be better than whatever chatgpt can come up with. always

AI in any field !!!
i haven’t talked about this yet because it still kind of stings, but i think it’s time i said something.
a few days ago, i participated in an MUN conference. i was the delegate of austria — something i took seriously, something i put so much effort into. the conference lasted from 8am to 6pm, and i showed up for every minute of it. i researched, wrote, prepared. when it came time to speak, i spoke like i meant it. because i did.
out of forty delegates, it came down to me and another boy, the delegate of spain. we debated for the last two hours while everyone else watched. and i mean this sincerely — he was amazing. we were both exhausted, but we kept going. i thought, no matter who wins, we earned this.
then it came time to submit our resolution papers. mine was over 7,000 words. i had written every single word myself. no shortcuts. no AI. just hours of reading, thinking, writing, refining — giving it everything.
but then the chairs announced that only papers that passed the AI detection checks would be considered for awards. and mine didn’t pass.
they didn’t pull me aside quietly. they didn’t ask if there had been a mistake. they announced it. out loud. in front of everyone. they said my paper was AI generated.
and it wasn’t.
and in that moment, it didn’t matter how much effort i had poured in. it didn’t matter how long i had researched or how well i had debated. it didn’t even matter that my voice had held up for ten straight hours in front of a room full of peers and mentors; because some algorithm—some faceless, soulless, fuckass machine—decided that my work didn’t sound “human enough.”
i cannot explain what it feels like to pour yourself into something and then be told — publicly — that it isn’t yours. that it couldn’t be.
and maybe they didn’t mean to humiliate me. maybe they were just doing their job. but i still had to sit there, in that room full of people, while everything i worked for was dismissed by a program that doesn’t know my voice. doesn’t know my effort. doesn’t know anything at all.
i didn’t stay for the ceremony. i couldn’t. i had my dad come pick me up early.
and i cried. not because i didn’t win but because i wasn’t believed. because my work, which i created with nothing but my hands, my brain, and my heart, was labeled a lie by a machine that has never written a thing worth crying over.
and i’m not angry at the boy who won. bless his heart—he got my number and actually called me to tell me i did amazing. and i believe him. he meant it. i’m not angry at the chairs either. they were just following the rules they were given.
but i am angry.
i’m angry at what this world is becoming. angry that we’ve let things get to the point where we have to prove we’re real.
angry that the people who use AI to cut corners, to plagiarize, to cheat—those people made it harder for those of us who actually care. who still believe in the slow work. the honest work. the work that makes your bones ache and your eyes blur from how long you’ve stared at the page.
i was accused of using a machine. but the accuser was a machine too.
and that, to me, is terrifying. it’s terrifying that we’re letting something this mechanical, this blind, decide who gets to be believed. who gets to be heard. who gets to be proud of the work they’ve done.
i’m still proud. because i know what i wrote. i know how hard i worked. i know what i gave. but it hurts. it really, really hurts to not be believed.
i think what hurts most is knowing this is only the beginning. that students and writers and artists are already being treated like suspects in the one place they’re supposed to be seen.
so let it be known: i was not silent. i was erased. and i will not forget that.

sign this petition!!
Tumblr media
Please sign this petition before July 2nd!! Artificial intelligence comes with a lot of drawbacks from its environmental cost to it stealing peoples art and even perpetuating racism and discrimination. Regulations are basically the only way to make sure AI is used in beneficial rather than harmful ways and by banning people from creating new regulations and even deeply hindering the ones that currently exist, the problems caused by AI won’t only fail to improve but also likely get worse. Furthermore artificial intelligence is also being actively promoted to be used in the government so that in tandem with the regulation ban will essentially lead national security to be thrown out the window. People tend to forget basic internet safety on forums but almost everyone forgets it when asking an AI it to do whatever tedious task that needs to be done. Even if you don’t use AI or aren’t an artist, you’re still affected by this so please consider signing. Again you can click this link or scan the QR, every person helps!! Thanks!!

"but that's so embarrassing to roleplay with someone😳" use ur imagination. or learn to not be embarrassed about it.
stop fucking feeding ai i beg of you. theyre replacing both writers AND artists. it's not a one way street where only artists are being affected.

Imma say this OwONekko going all "AI isn't bad" Warrior and defending A.I Art that threatens the whole of the art community and not just art CREATIVITY in general is just a slap in the face to all her artistic peers, fans and young artists who look up to to her
A.I has a recent history of stealing art from many artists without concent or permission and uses the stolen art to train their bots but now it's practically being shoved in our faces by all major social media platforms and ruining the creativity
And the fact shes bassiclly saying that "there's nothing you can do" if your art is stolen without concent is bassiclly invalidating the artists who have been stolen from and the fact that she using her self-h@rm to gain sympathy and guilt the audience into siding with her is even more disgusting like the fact that you have to guilt and make your viewers feel bad for being against ai Is such an ass move and she knew that no one would side with her so she disabled the comments the fact that she's defending ai "artists" to pay people for commissions that they never made is scummy as hell and it just goes to show that she doesn't care for the people that are being affected
A.I is not art and people who defend it are just as bad you are such a fucking ignorant bitch if you're telling young artists this BS I'm so tired of bitches like nondi trying to be all woke and shit ai is harmful and shes bassiclly saying thats a good thing....she says she doesn't like drama but she just put herself in drama she could've talked about how ai can also be harmful but NO shes so woke n shit....i hate AI defenders I used to be a fan of her too 😬
Do Better Nondi smh

Clarification: Generative AI does not equal all AI
💭 "Artificial Intelligence"
AI is machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, and more that I'm not smart enough to know. It can be extremely useful in many different fields and technologies. One of my information & emergency management courses described the usage of AI as being a "human centaur". Part human part machine; meaning AI can assist in all the things we already do and supplement our work by doing what we can't.
💭 Examples of AI Benefits
AI can help advance things in all sorts of fields, here are some examples:
Emergency Healthcare & Disaster Risk X
Disaster Response X
Crisis Resilience Management X
Medical Imaging Technology X
Commercial Flying X
Air Traffic Control X
Railroad Transportation X
Ship Transportation X
Geology X
Water Conservation X
Can AI technology be used maliciously? Yeh. Thats a matter of developing ethics and working to teach people how to see red flags just like people see red flags in already existing technology.
AI isn't evil. Its not the insane sentient shit that wants to kill us in movies. And it is not synonymous with generative AI.
💭 Generative AI
Generative AI does use these technologies, but it uses them unethically. Its scraps data from all art, all writing, all videos, all games, all audio anything it's developers give it access to WITHOUT PERMISSION, which is basically free reign over the internet. Sometimes with certain restrictions, often generative AI engineers—who CAN choose to exclude things—may exclude extremist sites or explicit materials usually using black lists.
AI can create images of real individuals without permission, including revenge porn. Create music using someones voice without their permission and then sell that music. It can spread disinformation faster than it can be fact checked, and create false evidence that our court systems are not ready to handle.
AI bros eat it up without question: "it makes art more accessible" , "it'll make entertainment production cheaper" , "its the future, evolve!!!"
💭 AI is not similar to human thinking
When faced with the argument "a human didn't make it" the come back is "AI learns based on already existing information, which is exactly what humans do when producing art! We ALSO learn from others and see thousands of other artworks"
Lets make something clear: generative AI isn't making anything original. It is true that human beings process all the information we come across. We observe that information, learn from it, process it then ADD our own understanding of the world, our unique lived experiences. Through that information collection, understanding, and our own personalities we then create new original things.
💭 Generative AI doesn't create things: it mimics things
Take an analogy:
Consider an infant unable to talk but old enough to engage with their caregivers, some point in between 6-8 months old.
Mom: a bird flaps its wings to fly!!! *makes a flapping motion with arm and hands*
Infant: *giggles and makes a flapping motion with arms and hands*
The infant does not understand what a bird is, what wings are, or the concept of flight. But she still fully mimicked the flapping of the hands and arms because her mother did it first to show her. She doesn't cognitively understand what on earth any of it means, but she was still able to do it.
In the same way, generative AI is the infant that copies what humans have done— mimicry. Without understanding anything about the works it has stolen.
Its not original, it doesn't have a world view, it doesn't understand emotions that go into the different work it is stealing, it's creations have no meaning, it doesn't have any motivation to create things it only does so because it was told to.
Why read a book someone isn't even bothered to write?

The current situation with Pinterest using AI to regulate its content, banning content and users without real reasons, is actually freaking me out. It's another example of AI taking over even the simple enjoyments in life that we hoped would stay safe.
And as a person who adores using Pinterest and is on the app a bit too much (and as a writer who uses it for inspiration), I've been feeling very cautious about even opening the app/website. People just want to look at and save pictures, but we can't even do that without AI being involved.
