Hi sorry I could’ve sworn I posted this as an update but I guess I didn’t? Maybe tumblr ate it? Idk
Anywho, I am working on getting some more chapters written and will be going to a once a week posting. I hope that’s not disappointing to you guys, but I need to make sure this is sustainable so I can tell the stories I want to tell and, hopefully, you want to hear.
That being said: when would you like to see updates posted??
Posts will always go out according to EST, so if that’s a consideration for you, there you go

I AM NOT A WRITER. This is a blog for me to try out. I’ve been writing fanfics for years but never posted anything anywhere. All my stories are for me but once I get followers I will take requests if anyone even likes my stuff. Here is a list of fandoms I write for.
—Marvel (specifically Wanda Maximoff, Natasha Romanoff, Yelena Belova, Kate Bishop, Clint Barton, and Peter Parker)
—Avatar the Last Airbender/Legend of Korra
—Star Wars Clone Wars/Star Wars Rebels/Bad Batch
—Percy Jackson/Heroes of Olympus
—Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire
—Arcane (Vi, Caitlyn, Powder/Jinx, Jayce, Viktor, Mel, Heimerdinger, Ekko, Vander, Silco, Sevika)
—The Jungle Book (2016)
What I write
— x reader (reader inserts—mostly fem reader but can do GN reader if requested)
—Crossovers with the fandoms listed
—Fluff, Angst, Hurt/Comfort
What I DO NOT write
—Smut
—ABO
—Pedophilia/Incest
—Male Reader (I just don’t have experience writing m!reader sorry)
—Non ace Yelena (including sexual implications)
--beastiality (jungle book fics)
This is a blog for me to try out some of my own story-writing techniques and critiques are always welcome but flames/harsh words are not. Let’s all be respectful of each other and realize a lot of hard work and dedication goes into a fic.

So I'm writing a hate fic right now and I've hit a wall. I don't have the right words for what I want to write since I've never written or read a fic that's centered around rage and violence.
Can anyone maybe refer me some fics like that? With all the negative emotions and violence?
Preferably star wars obviously.
Thanks <3

Do you enjoy (Star Wars) Bad Batch? Do you want to read a fan-fiction focused on an original character who is forced to work with the Bad Batch in order to save Omega and put a dent in an original antagonist's plan? Do you enjoy books with a sense of adventure and mystery, with wholesome, saddening, and comedic moments in between?
I enjoy reading fan-fiction from time to time, and I've always been a writer. However, I was shocked to find that most Bad Batch fan-fiction is either incomplete or a romance between a member of the Bad Batch and an original character. I wanted to write something not focused on romance, but focused on a realistic situation with realistic conversation.
Since I couldn't find it, I wrote it. Started in November of 2023, I finished the book in February of this year (2024) and am very proud of it. In fact, I am working on book two... a book following the events of book one.
What is it called and where can I find it, you ask? Well, here are the links to Star Wars: The Bad Batch - Keeper's Arena. I have it posted on Wattpad and Archive of Our Own, so it depends on your preference. On Wattpad, it has reached 3k reads. I appreciate all the love and support the people on Wattpad have given me; they were there when I first started. It has only recently been posted on Archive of Our Own; it has a very small amount of clicks at the moment.
Still need some convincing? Here's a snippet from an earlier chapter:
This was a very bad idea. Jade hastily broke off another piece of bread, hoping to finish soon or that the topic would change. She heard the doors open, and a hush came over the crowd, even as the electronic music continued to pulse, and the lights flashed. Jade risked a look over her shoulder, then looked away, her nerves spiking.
Omega's brothers.
She felt guilty and a bit worried. Did they believe the rumors going around? Did they know what she looked like? She assumed they began walking at a casual, non-threatening pace, as the chatter increased in volume again.
"Please don't come over here, please don't –"
Jade's inward begging would do no good; they were already heading for the counter. Jade lifted her face and tried to relax. If she didn't want them to notice her, she needed to be as calm as possible. She stopped tapping her foot, realizing she was doing it without thinking. Jade glanced to her left as the one with the bandana arrived at the counter first, waiting for the bartender. The one with the prosthetic arm was paying close attention to the bartender's conversation with the other men, frowning. Well, that wasn't a good sign. Jade drank more water, finishing it off. As long as she got out in time, she would be fine. She hoped the bartender would stay with the men a bit longer, but he noticed his new guests, coming to face the one with the bandana.
"Alright, men. What are you having?"
"We're looking for someone," the leader of the group – it seemed – stated.
"Do I look like a directory?" the bartender scoffed, clearly annoyed with the appearance of multiple unique guests.
"Maybe those men know more about it than you do," the frowning one pointed to the other side of the counter, where the three men discussing rumors with the bartender were seated.
"You mean that girl that was snatched?" the bartender questioned, turning his head to raise his voice. "Joe, what did you hear about this?"
Joe sighed, throwing up his hands. Jade carefully pushed her plate away and turned in her seat, staring instead at the booths against the wall. She fumbled a bit as she closed up her thigh bag, and the stool made a quiet squeak. Jade cringed, but she couldn't feel any eyes on her. Not yet at least.
"She had some sort of help, or else she was being set up. At any rate, she wasn't alone."
Jade froze, knowing what would come next.
"There was a woman with her, an older teenager. In fact, I'm almost entirely sure that's her, at the end of the counter. Whatever you're going to do, grab her fast. She doesn't look like much, and she keeps to herself, but she's armed."
He was talking in hushed tones, and Jade wasn't sure if she had even heard him right, but there was no mistaking the shuffle of feet.
"So much for being done with running for the day," Jade thought, and she slid off of the stool and ran, straight for the door.

4/12/2024
Hello again, everyone...
Firstly, I just wanted to say that I think I'm more or less answering my own question from last week, specifically in that I'm hoping to capture all of the moments that canon either didn't think of or else could have included but chose not to, finding other artists and writers who feel as strongly as I do, and then passing all of that missing knowledge onto the ones that want it the most.
For example...I wanted to make sure that Omega and Crosshair weren't secretly (still) chipped, but that moment never came even though Captain Rex himself suggested that everyone not confirmed to be without one was a ticking time bomb.
I wanted to see Omega and Crosshair discuss the loss of Tech onscreen, but even though these two both had a clear relationship with him, that moment never came.
And lastly I want to see CX-2's face to know who he is under that mask...but, tragically, though I'm not the only one who has suspicions, that moment might not come.
This and a growing list of unaddressed content is pretty much the difficulty I've had from the very start of this thing, so...maybe that's my real purpose here. Maybe, alongside a lot of other talented artists and writers, I'm meant to help fill in the blanks for others as well as myself, if only to make the growing list of unresolved issues that this show has had since the beginning not feel so overwhelming any more.
Maybe we were also always meant to start telling our own tales about these mega-corporate creations, and in so doing, change them from some way to rake in more cash and give them more personality, more likes and dislikes, more history, heck, possibly even more life if it means our own lives aren't so isolated and confined to the rules of some CEO in a suit.
So, whether or not we follow their social media accounts, watch their shows, and buy their merchandise...I hope none of us ever stop building our own myths and legends about these heroes. Whatever we do or wherever we go, I hope we don't stop creating.
Now...with that thought in mind, let's get to the weekly picks.

Just a few more weeks until Star wars: The Bad Batch season III! I’m so excited! Are you?
Um, yeah, just a couple more weeks. Honestly, I think it's more anxiety than excitement, at least for me. I'm still heartbroken about Tech and part of me hopes we find out he's still alive, another part thinks they shouldn't bring him back, but be consistent and consequential for once. (I could talk for days about what I mean right here but don't worry, I won't)
In fact, I have far too many negative thoughts about TBB S3. More like fears, not thoughts. TBB is never mentioned again in any series or movie that takes place later in the timeline, also not in any books I've been reading (But there are way too many to read all of them I guess, and I'm not always sure which is canon or not). So I guess they didn't live too long. And, of course, there is the thought in the back of my mind, the question of how the upcoming season will end.
If and who dies? How? It's just a show, and yet the thought of the negative things that could happen is surprisingly painful. But I'll watch it anyway, and in the end, as a fan fiction writer, I write what I want anyway.
It's just, I started to "love" these characters at some point (The Batch) and there is this feeling that I'm gonna lose them all soon.
However, I am very excited about some loose ends that may now be tied up, including in regards to Cody, Rex, Wolfe, Gregor, etc.

Masterlist
Hey there, friend 🌻 You can call me Light or Lightwise ✨ This is my little corner of Tumblr mostly dedicated to Star Wars (especially the Bad Batch, clone boys, Ahsoka, and Obi-Wan). I am a photographer and writer in my early thirties who spent her childhood telling stories to herself while riding her bike in circles around her driveway. Little did I know at the time that would be considered fan fiction and that however many years later I would find myself nerding out in the Star Wars fandom and loving every second of it ✨
I write a lot of in-depth analyses and musings, which are tagged with #somelightramblings | #some light ramblings (for a touch of irony, because they are usually anything but light or short :D).
My image edits are tagged with #somelightedits | #some light edits
My fics/writings are tagged with #lightwisewrites | #lightwise writes
I currently do not take fic requests but you can find my writing (a mix of one-shots and long-form WIPs) on here as well as on AO3.
Reblogs and comments are always appreciated 🤗 and feel free to use my edits for headers or PFPs with credit!
This blog contains both SFW and NSFW content, so minors DNI, 18+ only please and thank you 👀

Btw, I talk mainly about Star Wars with an emphasis on my favorite Bad Batch Boys, but I love many other fandoms/shows/books as well and welcome any conversations/sliding into my DMs to discuss them or other random (SFW) topics!
Narnia (my first fantasy love) | Mystery of Aaravos (The Dragon Prince) | Gilmore Girls | Marvelous Mrs. Maisel | A Series of Unfortunate Events | Shadow and Bone | LoTR | TrollHunters | Gravity Falls | Studio Ghibli  | Anything Jane Austen or 18th and 19th century literature | Sound of Music | And whatever you want to talk about! My Asks are always open!
Key:  🤔 = long analysis  📷 = image edits (alone or within analysis posts) 🫣 = Potentially disturbing or triggering content (mental health, implied violence or dying, etc.) 🔥 = NSFW/spicy content

My Fics
Plan 99 - Short one-shot fic from Tech's perspective. I wanted to show the thoughts that must have been running through his mind as he fell. The love he has for his family. The peace he has in his decision. (from the season finale of TBB season 2)
Tumblr link | AO3 link
Coming soon: Compass and the North Star (long-form fill in the gaps of TBB season 2, focused on Rex and Echo's efforts to free their clone brothers).
Be There - I had to fill in a couple of moments that we didn’t get in S3 E4 - A Different Approach. Hunter and Crosshair's perspectives on trying to find/escaping with Omega and their impending reunion.
Collaborations:
🔥 Sharp Edges - (with @spicy-clones) (ALL of the spiciness, minors do NOT read!)
Tumblr link | AO3 link
Coming soon: Pabu Wedding (with @drafthorsemath)
Inspired by other fics:
The Adventures of Gonky the Cat - Slight spoiler, Gonky is a cat in the modern AU fic Roasted, Brewed, & Served with Attitude (see description below), and I decided to write his backstory/fill in some of his adventures. This is a WIP, currently there are no spoilers in it, but eventually there will be some chapters that give spoilers for later in the story (and will be noted as such).
Gemini Eyes - This one shot fits in as a chapter in between chapters 85 and 87 of Roasted, Brewed, & Served with Attitude (see description below). DO NOT read it unless you have made it that far in Mel's work, otherwise you will have pretty significant spoilers. I had a lot of fun working with Mel's versions of each character, and it's always a joy to write Tech's thought processes and mannerisms.
Tumblr media
Fic Recs
Roasted, Brewed, & Served with Attitude - by MelMorganne99 over on AO3. It's a clever, emotional, modern AU with Crosshair x OC (and one of the best OC characters I've ever read). This fic helped me understand and appreciate the nuances of Crosshair's personality and emotional journey, and has given me endless writing inspiration. And the author is one of the kindest, most engaging people I've ever met online. Please, please, please do yourself a favor and read it. There are 99 chapters but they're on the short side and full of snarky humor and sometimes surprising cameos. This is a full blown fix it fic too, although not always in the ways you might expect!
The Vacation - by @staycalmandhugaclone is one of the best Crosshair fics (and smut fics in general) I've ever read. The writing style haunts me and both Crosshair and the OC are beautifully characterized.
More will be tagged soon!

AN UNUSUAL ALLIANCE
CHAPTER 64: EPILOGUE
The very last chapter of An Unusual Alliance is posted!!! I am so grateful for all of the love that has been shown to this story, it was a labor of love and I can't believe anyone not only read it besides me, but enjoyed it as well, lol.
For those who haven't given it a shot, I do hear it's bingeworthy. And also makes some nice weekend reading, but no pressure. ;)
Thank you to everyone again that helped to motivate, inspire, and encourage me throughout, I will be grateful always. May the Force be with you all!!! <3<3<3
Excerpt:
Everything will be fine.
Everything will be fine, Tech's expression seemed to say in return.

Twenty Questions for Fic Writers 💫
tysm for the tag @glasscushion !!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
32 currently!
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
241,146 since 2018 which is absolutely wild to me, particularly as i have about another 30k waiting in the wings. three novels’ worth. WILD.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
largely motorsports (formula 1 and formula e) although i do occasionally dip a toe into other fandoms. largely RPF, i’m generally not that interested in writing non-RPF although i do read it sometimes.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
there was always warmth between us (maxiel)
lol, my magnum opus. the stats on this one still blow my mind (almost 1400 kudos at time of writing). sometimes people tell me it’s a comfort fic for them which really makes my day. there’s a lot about this fic i would change if i wrote it again now (the dialogue especially) but there you go, hindsight and all that.
nobody knows the trouble i’ve been (or the exacting improvement of sin) (maxiel)
i think this was the first vaguely kinky fic i posted on AO3? spanking and behaviour correction from the days when max and dan were starting to want to kill each other and it was spilling over on-track. definitely blessed dan with way too much emotional intelligence compared to real life but hey, i can do what i like with my paper dollies.
as if death itself was undone (maxiel)
undernegotiated breathplay porn my beloved! this remains one of my favourite fics i’ve ever written (although the paragraphs are way too long). i’m a real sucker for the trope of people discovering kinks they didn’t know they had and immediately acting on them — v bad idea in real life, v hot in fiction.
a siren on the rocks calling you into the deep (girl!landoscar)
so funny to me that the lunatic squirting rule 63 porn i posted less than a fortnight ago is in my top 4 already, landoscar fans you are all freaks and i love you for it. this is absolute filth, my first rule 63 and contains a lot of bodily fluids, my favourite thing.
unfucktheworld (maxiel)
i was very surprised to see this in my top 5 but honestly i think it’s only there because it’s my oldest fic so it’s just had time to accrue more kudos? it was my first time writing fic in about 10 years, the characterisation is all over the place, it’s just…not that great i don’t think? but it’s sweet and porny and it’s lovely that people are still digging back through the archives to give it a go, so i’m not complaining.
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
i try to! i went through a phase last year where i just got very easily overwhelmed by life and gave up on replying for a while (which sucks because i received some of my favourite ever comments during that period, so if i ever didn’t reply to your comment please know that i DID read and treasure it, i am just very bad at carrying out simple tasks sometimes). i tend to save them up and reply in batches, which is probably why i get overwhelmed 🫠
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
idk if i’ve written any with an outright angsty ending tbh! i am a sucker for a happy ending, or at least an ambiguous one. also frankly a lot of my fics are just porn and don’t really have endings per se lmao.
i guess my weird toto/christian all the blood runs hot before it’s cold has a not-happy ending in the sense that it’s clear that they doomed to repeat unhealthy behaviour with each other (to be explored in the sequel i nearly have completed once i get free of the landoscar brain rot) but it’s not angsty, really, because christian’s too far in denial to be angsty about it.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
i think there was always warmth between us, being a slowburn friends to lovers that ends with a declaration of love, probably takes that crown!
8. Do you get hate on fics?
not so far, fingers crossed it remains that way! i do remember being very nervous before i posted my first hardkink fic (the watersports fic eight of swords (reversed)) and feeling like i would be driven from the fandom with pitchforks, but thankfully that did not come to pass.
i do quite often receive comments that are just sort of…baffled? because i have a tendency to write extremely sexually explicit fics that are deliberately not actually that sexy. i like writing about the weirdness and grossness of sex, i like weird kinks and psychosexual oddness, i like unbalanced power dynamics and i like it when sex scenes aren’t all soft focus and simultaneous orgasms. so i think sometimes people go in to my fics expecting one thing and coming out with something else, but the comments are always very polite! also i think i have accidentally awakened something in quite a few readers but i consider that a public service.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
looool. do i. as above — i write a LOT of smut and it is usually far too detailed, generally very informed by kink and power dynamics, and unnecessarily verbose. i’m a huge fan of the writing of JG Ballard who wrote the most clinical, bizarre sex scenes that make you horny and disturbed in equal measure, and that’s what i strive towards in most of my fics.
even the ones that are actually incredibly sweet and romantic (to me anyway!) like just found me a brand new box of matches (landoscar foot fetish gremlin weirdness) or playboy in the grotto (landoscar piss fetish gremlin weirdness) are still not sexy in a sanitised way, they’re about love and connection being found through cherishing and honouring the weird and gross and unconventional parts of each other. this is a political standpoint for me as much as anything else, not to get overwrought about it — my queerness is as expressed through my love for the unsanitary and unsavoury and taboo as much as it is my love of people of different genders, and i want to reflect that in my fic.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
i don’t! i don’t tend to read them, either. maybe this is just a side effect of my preference for RPF but i just don’t find the concept all that interesting or appealing. i’m also not that much of a fan of AUs in general (rule 63 excepted), although i will make exceptions if they’re well-written and i like the concept enough.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
yeah someone reposted there was always warmth between us on wattpad a year or so ago and had to do the copyright strike thing. i felt very famous.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
i don’t believe so! if anyone wants to translate any of my fics, please feel free to ask.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
not officially! i think i am too much of a control freak for that tbh. but i have written a lot of fics that have been hashed out in forensic detail with @lost-decade and/or @scenetocause and so they probably should be given co-creator credits for half my fics.
14. What’s your all-time favourite ship?
oooooh this is a hard one yknow. I tend to love a ship very intensely for a few months and then lose interest. i guess max/daniel is the one i have liked for the longest time, although i don’t really read it much anymore because i…frankly don’t really like either of them irl all that much anymore? lmao. but yeah it’s probably them! i will also always have a soft spot for jeandre.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
honestly my jeandre opus a universe hesitant to grant us grace is not technically finished, i just left it where it was due to real life events impinging on it at the time. it’s a shame because i did love what i was doing with that fic but i can’t revisit it because it’s too wrapped up in other stuff.
16. What are your writing strengths?
i’m good at vibes! good at small details that give an insight into a character or setting, good at seeding ideas and at description. I think i’m fairly decent at writing snappy dialogue too, and people tell me i’m good at writing humour too which i am always quite taken aback by but i will gratefully accept!
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
long-winded sentences, not enough verbs/not making the verbs work for me, and too many adjectives. tight plotting (lack thereof). getting a bit too forensic in my sex scenes.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I do it occasionally when i’m writing people whose first language isn’t english, but i don’t speak any other languages well enough to be confident in using anything other than the odd word or phrase.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
ah, i’m ageing myself here… It was for placebo, on the fan forum they had hosted on their own website (god bless them, no wonder i’m so chill about the concept of RPF) around 20 years ago when i was 14. i learned a LOT from that forum. placebo are indeed largely to blame for stoking my degenerate tendencies at an impressionable age. good for them. the first fandom i wrote for on AO3 was in 2018 and it was F1.
20. Favourite fic you’ve written?
aghhh it’s hard to choose but i think it has to be all the blood runs hot before it’s cold, the toto/christian madness. it took me such a long time to write but i feel like i really achieved what i wanted to with it and caught the weird psychosexually unhealthy vibe i was aiming for. i’m also really fond of playboy in the grotto, the landoscar watersports porn. it was my first time writing them and it kicked off an obsession. piss kink is my holy grail kink and i just found this so easy and fun to write, and i think you can tell that i had fun from the writing.
WHEW. well done if you read all this. i think probably most people have already filled this in but if you have not and you would like to i am tagging @lost-decade @scenetocause @zeraparker @boxboxlewis @flawlessassholes @beechersnope

You might be wondering why I have such a fit about TBB (and still do!--its a raging coal fire that hasn't stopped since S2 finale, and just kinda, reignites. Alot. )
[ And if you're not wondering, well I'm talking to myself anyway. I'm typing into the magic box with the funny pictures made of light and there's nobody I'm actually on conversing with in my compooter room anyway. ]
[ so i might as well continue to talk to myself, like the mad media person in all the tv shows, and maybe, one of the incorporeal beings of the magic picture box gets either entertained or pissed off enough. either way, screaming into the void ]
Let's talk about story impact.
I'mma say that a story has a beginning, middle and end. It has talking things called characters, and a general story structure called plot. the fiction it exists in called a fictional world building. the beats it writes to called pacing, and its quickening or slowing often matches the scene it wants (like a heart beat).
THat's the sum story.
What the fuck am I on about again with TBB.
Well, imagine that you have the Story sum above, and there's multiple now. Like, hundreds to thousands, all running on a specific world build, sharing the character of the story, as well as the story of the characters. Created all over the course of decades.
Repetition with positive results is going to have favorable impact. Effort given into a creative work is going to be recognized, even if you don't really like the work.
That's the sum logic.
So what the fuck am I on about again with TBB.
Well, let's take an actual example so that I'm not off topic.
Darth Vader is a very significant character to Star Wars. Star Wars is the story and series of stories that have had decades of work. Its a Space Western Opera (because Sci-Fi generally requires actual thought based Sciences attached--thus the magic in space bits aren't Sci-Fi; you're free to add that thoughtfulness though ).
And Darth Vader was one of the characters repeatedly used, and given significance due to in-story reactions and in-story information, as well as unique costuming, and taking 3 actors to do.
Mixing that with consistent character writing that develops as we learn of the character, and whom we additionally watch develop as the story around him changes; with dashes of world-building used also consistently, mixed with high end emotional-cues by the Music performed...
Creates a character that is very important to the series. Enough so, that to see him, is to immediately think "Star Wars".
And Star Wars is culturally historical. More so than the things it was based off of (and potentially ripped from), such as Dune, Valerian, and Metropolis--the only thing that survived that ripping was the Fist Full of Dollars Trilogy.
And its had Decades. As in, your Grand'rents intimately know Star Wars too. Its painted unironically on things, instead of being made fun of for being a Dune Rip Off but with DnD Magic.
But gods damn it, what does this have to do with THE BAD BATCH?
Well have you ever heard of a Fanfic OC?
You know the ones. The super special awesome totally original donut steel characters that a fan writer of a series will make up, in order to either experience the world or save the day or something.
( I know its more complicated than that, I'll get there )
The point is, is that a character in a well known series that spans decades, requires build up so that even the most stubborn of the audience accepts it.
A series that's big enough and large enough and expansive enough, requires itself to turn its characters into mini stories themselves. Because a big world is complicated, and gets complicated as it grows.
Example-- Ahsoka Tano required 3 years before she became intimately accepted as Anakin Motherfucking Skywalker's apprentice.
Because that kind of position is the donut-steel OC position. She wasn't in the films thus she didn't have an impact on Vader.
( I would even make the argument that Prequel Anakin still doesn't make that huge of an impact on Star Wars Vader. )
( Much the prequels ran into the same "donut steel" argument. )
A different example-- Captain Rex.
Captain Rex did not run into the same issues. Why? Because he slotted with a known position that was needed to complete the Clone Wars parts of the Prequel Sagas. After all, there was Commander Cody for Obi-Wan, there was Commander Bly for Aayla, and so on.
Captain Rex had the backing of the concept of the Clone Wars behind him, which does include from the Original Trilogy, as that's where the concept came from first.
As a character, he had to be a little nuts in order to keep up with Anakin, and a little on the hard order side, in order to live up additionally to Vader.
There was years of build up, and he was expected.
[ Its almost as if you have to know your audience and the history behind a story, to make impact--and that if you're coming in out of the blue, you need more prep and build up, in order to have the same amount of impact ]
[ And once that impact is given, we can flow with the story, and even retroactively enjoy the parts it took to make impact. ]
[ Adopt a new story teller's telling, into a story told by someone else, to make a better story ]
BUT WHAT ABOUT--
Ah ah ah, Don't worry. Build up and Impact, remember?
So, what is exactly my issue with the TBB series.
Its that these mother fuckers had 4 episodes in less than 1 month before their series.
The Bad Batch series is a series of high impact with low reaction. Good music, good animation, set in a known world--but the characters themselves do not have the build up to have impact on anything.
The series itself should have been giving them that build up, and instead, it actually stripped them on impact they initially had.
On a character sheet, the Bad Batch as characters are good. I give them positive review as a "let's go hog wild on the clone concept" They are the limit you can push the star wars clone wars concept before you have to pull back and say "You just wanted you add your fanfic into Star Wars, didn't you?"
( Just as the Prequels made Anakin out to be the limit of the Jedi, rather than just OG Vader's "I turned evil fuck you". )
A long adventure to learn about these characters, just as we learned about Ahsoka and by extension, Rex, would've been required to allow the build up to have the impact that they were clearly introduced to have.
Cos they have a strong introduction... through the eyes of someone else.
We have a series that put them through strafes, when we really didn't know anything about the characters. Even in their TCWs Arc, there wasn't enough about them from their POV that we could summarize a character that would last a series like theirs.
You can't tell me there's a character arc or achetype that TBB didn't invent in order to impose upon characters that do little and aren't allowed to grow from it--or was taken as a side-character role in name any Star Trek episode.
The TBB's high impact story is the going from the Prequel Saga into THe Original Trilogy, from the point of view of the Clone Wars. Its a singificant connecting element of watching the Republic become the Empire. The "Dark Times" as Obiwan "Ben" Kenobi put it, in 1977's Star Wars.
The BBs themselves only had 4 episodes, and they were already pushing disbelief, as they were the limit of the Clone Wars "Clone" Concept, stretched to the last possible point (Cos anywhere beyond that, and we'd be getting into Super Hero territory), and introduced in the Final Season--so all impact they could've had, was already gone from the start because there was no time.
The only way that the current TBB series would've impacted as its era demands, after decades of Star Wars, would be to give it to either Commander Cody (Who was in the Films) or Captain Rex, who was the main Clone of the Clone Wars.
And the only way that the the Bad Batch as characters, could've possibly survived that high impact, is if they had those years behind them--and they don't, they had less than 1 month.
So the Bad Batch as Characters require their own series that lacks high plot impact, in order to survive as characters...
And the Bad Batch show, as a High IMpact Show, requires actual impactul characters to run.
... Do you see the issue now? Or at least one of them?
( I would have gladly accepted a slow paced Bad Batch show that allowed the Bad Batch characters growth, that's what I wanted out of them--I wanted to get to know them. )
( But the current TBB show does not allow that. Story writers can say all the shit they want, but let me remind, if it was important--it'd be in the story itself, it'd be apart of the build up and impact. )
( And there is no impact, and no build up. If I were to put Hunter right next to Vader, he would mean fuck all. )
( And that's one reason I'm so fucking mad about all this. )

Sorry if this ask is a little unclear, I've been batting thoughts around my head like a cat with a string for the past 20 minutes and they're starting to get tangled
Even if we lived in a reality were people didn't see themselves in fictional characters, and where said characters didn't mirror real life, what favreau and filoni have done with mando season 3 is still disrespectful towards other writers of mandalorians
They've taken Mandalorian lore established over decades of comics and novels and other media, said I Don't Like It, and thrown it out as if they're writing a fanfiction that a few hundred people will read instead of an incredibly popular show that influences other star wars stories
Every time I think about the blatantly gendered visors or the absolute refusal to try to use and mando'a at all or the darksaber getting destroyed as if it's not a thousand year old artifact that survived way worse than being grabbed a little too tight I cringe
I get that most of the comics aren't canon, and that some of the lore mentioned above was established by filoni himself, but, like, it still feel bad, y'know?
I just have so many thoughts regarding this season and almost none of them are positive
The only good thing I have to say end up being superficial like This Set Was Pretty and This Fight Scene Was Kinda Cool
People have already touched on the way fiction effects reality better than I ever could, so I'm not going to make this already long and scattered ask even longer by talking about it, but it is something that cannot be understated. People have always and will always see themselves in fictional characters, and there's nothing anyone can do to change that
The threads are starting to turn into an unravelable knot so I'm going to stop typing before this ask turns into even more of a mess
you’re absolutely right and you should say it. fiction can and should be compared to reality, especially when compared to something like culture or religion. what favroni did, removing key aspects of mandalorian culture, just to try to sell us a half baked shit ass story and plot line was truly a horrendous thing to do. literally everything they did contradicted so much of what was already established and what fans already were comfortable with and knew. and you’re completely right, that bit with the darksaber? i had a hard time believing something as sacred as that could be destroyed in literally less than half a second.
when you see all of that, the mandalorian culture favroni removed or disrespected, and then bring it back and compare it to culture that mandalorians were based off of… it doesn’t look good. i’ve seen a lot of people stand up for racism against the bad batch and the whitewashing and everything like that, but i barely see people speaking up about the disrespect of cultures and religions, especially in the mandalorian fandom. it’s frustrating. it really is.
you bring up a lot of good points so thank you for sending this ask, truly.
